I want to spend my life 00:00:01.60\00:00:06.80 Mending broken people 00:00:07.40\00:00:12.27 I want to spend my life 00:00:12.34\00:00:17.91 Removing pain 00:00:18.65\00:00:23.18 Lord, let my words 00:00:23.82\00:00:28.76 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:30.03\00:00:33.96 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.46\00:00:39.37 Mending broken people 00:00:40.30\00:00:44.74 I want to spend my life 00:00:45.67\00:00:50.55 Mending broken people 00:00:51.28\00:00:56.05 - Hello and welcome to another 3ABN Today 00:01:11.07\00:01:13.57 program. I'm Jason Bradley, and I am so 00:01:13.67\00:01:16.40 excited about what we're going to be talking about, 00:01:16.47\00:01:20.24 which is the Youth Rush literature programs. 00:01:20.31\00:01:23.14 Now, you're probably at home, wondering, 00:01:23.28\00:01:24.91 "Well, what is that?" You're going to find 00:01:24.95\00:01:27.98 out. We have a few videos to show you, 00:01:28.08\00:01:30.42 and it's just going to be a blessing. So, here 00:01:30.49\00:01:34.46 with me, I have David Paņo, and he is the 00:01:34.52\00:01:37.63 Literature Ministries- he's with Literature 00:01:37.69\00:01:40.66 Ministries in Michigan Conference of Seventh-day 00:01:40.73\00:01:42.86 Adventists-and Bill Krick who is with Literature 00:01:42.93\00:01:46.07 Ministries of the Pacific Union Conference of 00:01:46.13\00:01:49.24 Seventh-day Adventists. - Glad to be here. - It's 00:01:49.37\00:01:51.81 great to have you. It's great to have both of 00:01:51.87\00:01:53.74 you here. Tell me a little bit about yourself and 00:01:53.84\00:01:57.75 your background, David. - Oh, yes. I was raised 00:01:57.85\00:02:00.88 Adventist. My grandpa used to be a pastor; 00:02:00.95\00:02:04.35 my dad used to be a pastor. So, though I 00:02:04.45\00:02:08.12 have Adventist background, I didn't know Jesus. I thought 00:02:08.22\00:02:14.40 I knew Jesus, and I was in my late 20s that, 00:02:14.50\00:02:18.03 actually, I met Jesus for the first time with 00:02:18.13\00:02:20.47 a group of young people that taught me about 00:02:20.54\00:02:23.17 Jesus in my own church. Ever since then, I decided 00:02:23.24\00:02:27.61 to serve God. When God sent me to serve Him, 00:02:27.71\00:02:30.75 it has been literature. So, that's where I'm 00:02:30.85\00:02:32.68 at now. - Nice, nice. And what about you, 00:02:32.71\00:02:35.15 Bill? - You know, I'm a fifth-generation 00:02:35.25\00:02:37.82 Seventh-day Adventist. My great-great-grandfather 00:02:37.89\00:02:40.42 had his door knocked on by a faithful worker 00:02:40.52\00:02:43.36 and he accepted Christ and Christ's messages 00:02:43.43\00:02:47.53 for him...but I had to make it my own like we 00:02:47.60\00:02:51.27 all do. I did that through Adventist 00:02:51.33\00:02:54.94 Christian schools. My mother sacrificed dearly 00:02:55.10\00:02:58.57 to send me to Christian school, and there, I 00:02:58.67\00:03:01.24 found mentors who guided me in the path to follow 00:03:01.34\00:03:04.51 Christ. That's really why I'm following Christ now 00:03:04.61\00:03:09.02 and why I'm looking for Him. - Nice. Well, before 00:03:09.08\00:03:11.79 we go into more about the literature evangelism 00:03:11.85\00:03:15.46 and all of those things and before we jump to 00:03:15.56\00:03:18.19 those videos, we have a song that 00:03:18.26\00:03:20.46 is very fitting for the topic; and the song is 00:03:20.56\00:03:25.27 brought to us by Alessandra Sorace 00:03:25.33\00:03:28.44 and it's entitled, "I Will Go." 00:03:28.50\00:03:30.64 Give me ears to hear Your Spirit 00:03:59.50\00:04:04.74 Give me feet to follow through 00:04:04.84\00:04:10.38 Give me hands to touch the hurting 00:04:10.91\00:04:16.28 And the faith to follow You 00:04:16.38\00:04:23.79 Give me grace to be a servant 00:04:26.33\00:04:32.13 Give me mercy for the lost 00:04:32.23\00:04:37.64 Give me passion for Your glory 00:04:37.91\00:04:43.58 Give me passion for the cross 00:04:43.68\00:04:49.98 And I will go where there are no easy roads 00:04:50.29\00:04:56.16 Leave the comfort that I know 00:04:56.26\00:05:01.90 I will go and let this journey be my home 00:05:02.23\00:05:07.97 I will go 00:05:08.07\00:05:12.01 I will go 00:05:13.71\00:05:18.35 I'll let go of my ambition 00:05:30.36\00:05:36.00 Cut the roots that run too deep 00:05:36.06\00:05:41.67 I will learn to give away 00:05:42.20\00:05:47.58 What I cannot really keep 00:05:47.64\00:05:53.05 What I cannot really keep 00:05:53.15\00:06:00.26 Help me see with eyes of faith 00:06:00.96\00:06:08.53 Give me strength to run this race 00:06:08.90\00:06:15.94 And I will go where there are no easy roads 00:06:16.24\00:06:22.58 Leave the comfort that I know 00:06:22.78\00:06:28.38 I will go and let this journey be my home 00:06:28.65\00:06:34.49 I will go... I will go! 00:06:34.56\00:06:40.33 I will go, Lord, where Your glory is unknown 00:06:40.96\00:06:47.00 I will live for You alone 00:06:47.10\00:06:52.87 I will go because my life is not my own 00:06:53.44\00:06:59.68 I will go... 00:06:59.78\00:07:02.55 I will go 00:07:03.05\00:07:05.75 I will go 00:07:06.02\00:07:15.96 - Wow. What a beautiful and fitting song for 00:07:30.05\00:07:33.82 what we're going to be talking about. So, you 00:07:33.92\00:07:36.25 know, we talked about the Youth Rush literature 00:07:36.32\00:07:38.65 programs being the topic of our discussion. What 00:07:38.75\00:07:42.22 is Youth Rush? Either one of you. - Alright. 00:07:42.29\00:07:45.53 It is part of the Literature Ministries, 00:07:45.59\00:07:48.86 and that usually takes place during the summer. 00:07:48.96\00:07:52.30 It's a 10-week program where young people will 00:07:52.37\00:07:57.04 go door-to-door, and they're going to be 00:07:57.14\00:07:59.27 sharing literature. They get donations 00:07:59.34\00:08:01.24 for the literature... But I can say that 00:08:01.31\00:08:03.98 this is a mission trip; but usually, mission 00:08:04.05\00:08:07.28 trips, you pay for... right? You pay your 00:08:07.35\00:08:09.25 ticket, you pay, also, the expenses over 00:08:09.32\00:08:11.02 there... But in this mission trip where 00:08:11.09\00:08:13.05 you're going to be reaching a lot of 00:08:13.12\00:08:14.46 people, you get paid. That's the blessing. 00:08:14.49\00:08:17.33 You also get financial help. People mainly 00:08:17.43\00:08:22.46 get it for school tuition. So, you're working for 00:08:22.53\00:08:26.80 the Lord, but you're also gaining financial 00:08:26.87\00:08:28.90 benefits out of that... but the main blessing 00:08:28.97\00:08:32.77 is the spiritual component where you can see God in 00:08:32.87\00:08:37.11 other work. I don't know if, Bill, you 00:08:37.18\00:08:39.35 want to add something. - Yeah. The enormous 00:08:39.41\00:08:42.35 benefits of participating in a Youth Rush program 00:08:42.42\00:08:45.99 for a young person- the ages are usually 00:08:46.05\00:08:48.49 between 16 and 25, Jason. When a young 00:08:48.56\00:08:53.06 person comes out of a summer like that, they 00:08:53.16\00:08:55.26 will have visited approximately 7,000 00:08:55.33\00:08:57.63 homes. - Wha- 7,000 homes!? - More or less. 00:08:57.70\00:09:00.64 - Wow! - And the opportunities to 00:09:00.70\00:09:03.00 interact with people and the learning that 00:09:03.07\00:09:06.21 goes on, the experiential education, as it were, 00:09:06.31\00:09:11.21 is so valuable for a young person. In fact, we have 00:09:11.31\00:09:13.78 a short testimony on video that gives a 00:09:13.82\00:09:16.62 testimony of somebody who's now a Christian 00:09:16.72\00:09:19.59 professional in the position of responsibility. He talks 00:09:19.65\00:09:23.43 briefly about his experience doing a summer like this. 00:09:23.53\00:09:26.90 - Nice. Well, I tell you what: let's go 00:09:26.96\00:09:28.60 to that video right now and check that out. 00:09:28.66\00:09:30.90 - My name's Andrew John. I'm the president and CEO 00:09:36.37\00:09:38.27 of Sonora Regional Medical Center in 00:09:38.37\00:09:40.68 Sonora, California- soon to be known as 00:09:40.78\00:09:43.14 Adventist Health Sonora. So, as a young professional, 00:09:43.24\00:09:48.25 or student in college, you have a lot of ways 00:09:48.32\00:09:51.79 you could spend your summer...but I recommend 00:09:51.85\00:09:55.72 dedicating at least one summer to literature 00:09:55.82\00:09:58.49 evangelism. You'll learn things both about yourself 00:09:58.56\00:10:01.76 and people that, otherwise, would take a lifetime of 00:10:01.86\00:10:05.97 experience to learn. The opportunity that 00:10:06.07\00:10:08.94 I had to go door-to-door and share not just my 00:10:09.00\00:10:12.24 faith but learn about other people's faith 00:10:12.31\00:10:14.81 absolutely set me up for success in the 00:10:14.88\00:10:19.71 professional world. [piano music] 00:10:19.81\00:10:24.35 - Wow. It sounds like there's a lot of benefits 00:10:25.65\00:10:27.92 to participating in this program- 00:10:28.02\00:10:30.16 spiritually, professionally, and equipping people with 00:10:30.23\00:10:35.40 the tools that they're going to use throughout 00:10:35.46\00:10:37.47 their life. - Oh, yes; definitely. I remember 00:10:37.57\00:10:42.50 having a student that at the end of the summer, 00:10:42.57\00:10:45.61 she called one of her elders in her local 00:10:45.67\00:10:48.61 church at the end of the summer. The elder, 00:10:48.68\00:10:51.18 after talking to this student, he called her 00:10:51.25\00:10:53.78 mom. He called the student's mom and the 00:10:53.85\00:10:57.35 elder said, "Your daughter has changed. She's more 00:10:57.42\00:11:01.92 articulated and more spiritual," and it 00:11:02.02\00:11:04.49 was just a 10-week period. That's amazing 00:11:04.56\00:11:06.66 how these programs can help a lot of young people. 00:11:06.76\00:11:09.56 - Yes. Now, in the process of doing 00:11:09.66\00:11:12.30 these programs, are the young people 00:11:12.37\00:11:14.84 absorbing some of this literature, as well? 00:11:14.94\00:11:18.01 I mean, I know that they're having experiences when 00:11:18.11\00:11:20.01 they go to knock on the doors and all of that. 00:11:20.08\00:11:22.38 But are they studying the Word? What's going 00:11:22.44\00:11:25.71 on during this program, too, that helps to facilitate 00:11:25.81\00:11:29.65 that spiritual growth? - That's a good question. 00:11:29.72\00:11:32.49 I have actually, here, some testimonies that 00:11:32.59\00:11:35.66 have been sent to us by some young people 00:11:35.79\00:11:39.53 after the summer. Now, these are unsolicited 00:11:39.59\00:11:41.90 testimonies; they're not testimonies that 00:11:42.00\00:11:43.97 we went fishing for. - Uh-huh. - And we 00:11:44.03\00:11:46.17 saved some of them. I'd like to read just a few of 00:11:46.23\00:11:48.27 them to you in their own words. This is 00:11:48.34\00:11:51.31 from Erin. She says, "Last year," - she's 00:11:51.41\00:11:54.28 talking about the 10-week summer Youth Rush program. 00:11:54.38\00:11:56.38 "Last year was an amazing experience that really 00:11:56.44\00:11:58.98 changed my life-specifically, my walk with God. I want 00:11:59.05\00:12:02.08 people to know the God who loves them more than 00:12:02.18\00:12:05.32 they can even imagine." So, here's this young 00:12:05.42\00:12:08.09 woman, and her life was turned around when she 00:12:08.16\00:12:11.06 could see that, in reaching out to other 00:12:11.13\00:12:13.50 people, she sensed that God was reaching out to 00:12:13.56\00:12:16.23 her. This is from Josh: "Before last summer," 00:12:16.30\00:12:20.14 he writes, "I never read my Bible. But 00:12:20.24\00:12:23.34 now, I always get up and read it." So those 00:12:23.44\00:12:26.68 habits of spending time with God and with the 00:12:26.71\00:12:28.81 Word in the morning originates often in the 00:12:28.91\00:12:31.78 summer when they feel their need of God. Here's 00:12:31.85\00:12:34.38 another girl-Jodi: "Last year's canvassing," - 00:12:34.52\00:12:36.99 that's the Youth Rush program - "affected 00:12:37.09\00:12:39.05 me spiritually. I learned to feed myself spiritually." 00:12:39.12\00:12:42.42 Isn't that a nice testimony? - Yeah. 00:12:42.52\00:12:44.73 Yeah, it is. - If young people can learn to 00:12:44.83\00:12:46.39 feed themselves spiritually, then they don't always have 00:12:46.46\00:12:50.10 to be under direct supervision and mentorship. They can get 00:12:50.17\00:12:54.30 it straight from the Lord. - Yeah. Mhm. And you know 00:12:54.40\00:12:57.54 what - just to touch on that just a little bit - 00:12:57.64\00:12:59.57 what I've heard from both of you guys in the 00:12:59.67\00:13:01.78 beginning was that you had to come to know the 00:13:01.88\00:13:05.85 Lord for yourselves. - That's right. And 00:13:05.91\00:13:09.35 that's how the structure of the programs are like. They 00:13:09.42\00:13:13.36 have chores, they have time for... We give them 00:13:13.42\00:13:17.13 time for them to have their own devotions. 00:13:17.23\00:13:18.83 They usually stay in, and we can be, sometimes, at 00:13:18.89\00:13:22.23 churches or schools, and they have leaders 00:13:22.33\00:13:26.03 that we entrust them. They feed them, also, 00:13:26.10\00:13:29.40 spiritually, because they have worships 00:13:29.50\00:13:31.04 together, they sing together, they work 00:13:31.14\00:13:33.98 together, they have training to go to the 00:13:34.04\00:13:37.25 doors, then the leaders, also, with them through 00:13:37.35\00:13:42.48 the day, as well. So, that's how, kind of, 00:13:42.55\00:13:45.25 the structure works, and that runs for 10 00:13:45.32\00:13:48.76 weeks. Let me tell you this: for young people 00:13:48.82\00:13:52.66 or a young person, you will find your best friends 00:13:52.76\00:13:57.10 while you do God's work, because those are the 00:13:57.20\00:14:01.94 friends that you're going to be able to call later 00:14:02.00\00:14:04.11 on and say, "Hey, I'm struggling. Can you 00:14:04.21\00:14:06.27 pray for me?" - Yeah. - Those are the friends 00:14:06.37\00:14:07.88 that, when things get harder, you can contact 00:14:07.94\00:14:10.98 them. That's a great benefit. - Maybe even 00:14:11.08\00:14:13.62 meet a spouse there; watch out. [laughter] 00:14:13.68\00:14:16.28 - That's happened to many. - That's happened 00:14:16.38\00:14:18.35 to many people? Oh, yes...yes. - You know, 00:14:18.42\00:14:21.06 David just mentioned, Jason, the leaders, 00:14:21.12\00:14:23.36 the Youth Rush leaders, and I think that's a 00:14:23.43\00:14:25.46 really important point. There are well-trained 00:14:25.53\00:14:28.53 experienced young adult leaders who not only 00:14:28.63\00:14:32.73 supervise but train and inspire and encourage 00:14:32.80\00:14:35.60 and pray with the young people and help them, 00:14:35.70\00:14:38.14 and they're with them and rotate all the time 00:14:38.21\00:14:40.84 with them. That encourages safety and efficiency and 00:14:40.91\00:14:44.31 success, and that's a key part of that Youth 00:14:44.38\00:14:46.38 Rush- the Youth Rush experience is the young 00:14:46.48\00:14:48.65 adult leaders. - Yes. And, you know, the 00:14:48.75\00:14:51.59 beautiful thing is, like, they're watching all of 00:14:51.65\00:14:54.32 that that's taking place and internalizing that, 00:14:54.39\00:14:57.29 and then that's going to come out later as 00:14:57.39\00:15:00.76 they become leaders... you know? Great leaders 00:15:00.86\00:15:02.83 basically create other great leaders. - Yeah, 00:15:02.90\00:15:05.73 and that is right. Even for me, I'm a pastor, 00:15:05.83\00:15:11.97 helping so much, because when I was a leader, you 00:15:12.07\00:15:15.64 have to take care of these young ones. You 00:15:15.74\00:15:17.65 see their personalities and you have to work, 00:15:17.71\00:15:19.98 and they're helping a lot in the church 00:15:20.08\00:15:21.92 environment. But the main thing is, many young people 00:15:21.98\00:15:26.05 are hurt sometimes that they say, "I don't see 00:15:26.15\00:15:29.79 God that's real, because I haven't experienced the 00:15:29.89\00:15:35.23 actions of God if He's doing something in this 00:15:35.33\00:15:39.43 world." It's because they don't go to the 00:15:39.50\00:15:42.64 field. You need to go to the field to see God 00:15:42.70\00:15:45.07 in action. This is- I mean, you see Joshua 00:15:45.14\00:15:47.74 singing, "Jesus," with his sword out-you know?- 00:15:47.84\00:15:51.25 ready to fight; but where you're going 00:15:51.31\00:15:53.72 to see Jesus actually fighting is in the field. 00:15:53.82\00:15:56.08 So go there and go with God, and you will see 00:15:56.15\00:15:58.92 Him in action. That's the main thing. - Which, 00:15:59.02\00:16:02.56 that's beautiful, because when you look at Christ's 00:16:02.66\00:16:04.56 life, what was He- He was healing people, He 00:16:04.66\00:16:07.40 was meeting people's needs, He was ministering 00:16:07.50\00:16:09.23 to the people wherever He went. But, like Christ's 00:16:09.33\00:16:12.87 method. What were you going to say, Bill? - Just 00:16:12.93\00:16:15.27 one more testimony from Philip. "Canvassing this 00:16:15.37\00:16:17.81 year was probably the best decision I made for 00:16:17.87\00:16:20.08 my spiritual well-being, being out on the front 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.44 lines of God's army, and actually doing the action 00:16:22.51\00:16:25.18 part of my faith was very rewarding." Again, 00:16:25.28\00:16:28.48 these are in his words. This is the pattern 00:16:28.58\00:16:30.75 we see, where young people, when they go 00:16:30.85\00:16:34.36 out and put into practice their faith and they get 00:16:34.46\00:16:36.76 into action, they sense their need of God, they 00:16:36.83\00:16:39.29 see God working, they watch miracles, they 00:16:39.39\00:16:41.20 experience their part of a miracle happening, they 00:16:41.26\00:16:43.63 come back and their eyes are opened and they say, 00:16:43.73\00:16:45.40 "Wow, God is real." Their faith strengthens. - And 00:16:45.47\00:16:48.70 that's how everything happens, especially 00:16:48.80\00:16:51.01 with me; because one time, I was in my church 00:16:51.07\00:16:54.11 in the pews, and I was listening to these people 00:16:54.18\00:16:57.21 sharing testimonies. I kind of got upset 00:16:57.28\00:17:02.48 with myself and with God and I said, "Lord, 00:17:02.58\00:17:05.35 I want my own testimonies. Why do I have to always 00:17:05.42\00:17:10.29 just listen?" - Uh-huh. - Right? I want to 00:17:10.43\00:17:12.86 experience, myself, as well! - Yes. - And God 00:17:12.93\00:17:15.13 sent me to canvass, and I got 'em. - Nice. - It's 00:17:15.20\00:17:18.83 amazing. - Share some of those with us. - You 00:17:18.90\00:17:20.97 know, one of the things that comes to my mind 00:17:21.04\00:17:24.11 right now is in Texas. I was knocking on doors, 00:17:24.21\00:17:26.81 and one of the... Usually, we expect 00:17:26.88\00:17:29.51 people to open the door and we can give them the 00:17:29.61\00:17:31.28 books so they can have it in their hands. This 00:17:31.35\00:17:34.35 lady didn't open the door. She pulled the 00:17:34.42\00:17:38.29 curtain from the window that was right next to 00:17:38.35\00:17:40.56 the door, and she's like, "What do you want?" 00:17:40.66\00:17:42.66 I was like, "Oh, man." So, "Hey, ma'am, my 00:17:42.79\00:17:46.16 name is David," I showed her a book, Peace Above 00:17:46.26\00:17:48.20 the Storm (that's also Steps to Christ), and 00:17:48.26\00:17:50.90 showed it to her. "This is what we have," 00:17:51.00\00:17:52.63 and she opened the door, grabbed the book out of 00:17:52.73\00:17:54.97 my hand, and she hugged it and she said, "I need 00:17:55.04\00:17:57.67 this book." - Wow. - And I was like, "Whoa, whoa, 00:17:57.77\00:18:00.28 whoa." - She wasn't even going to open the 00:18:00.34\00:18:01.68 door. - No, she was not going to. But when 00:18:01.71\00:18:03.85 she saw the book, she grabbed it, and she's 00:18:03.95\00:18:05.91 like, "I want this book." I'm like, "Yeah, you can 00:18:06.01\00:18:07.55 have it. It's just on donation basis." 00:18:07.62\00:18:09.62 Then, she told me, "No, you don't understand." 00:18:09.72\00:18:11.85 That's what she said. "This is from God." 00:18:11.95\00:18:14.79 And I was like, "Well, tell me what happened." 00:18:14.86\00:18:17.93 She told me her story that four days before, 00:18:17.99\00:18:20.86 her husband left her. He went with another 00:18:20.96\00:18:25.33 woman. She begged him. She told him, "I'm going 00:18:25.40\00:18:28.60 to forgive you. Just stay. We have a 00:18:28.67\00:18:30.91 daughter together." He said, "No. I don't 00:18:30.97\00:18:33.07 love you anymore. I'm going to go with this 00:18:33.14\00:18:34.78 woman." So, you can imagine for this woman, 00:18:34.84\00:18:37.91 her whole life fell apart. - Yeah. - She said that 00:18:38.01\00:18:41.98 ever since then, she has been crying in her 00:18:42.05\00:18:43.89 room. Crying, sleeping, maybe eating something, 00:18:43.99\00:18:48.69 but crying, sleeping, all four days straight. 00:18:48.76\00:18:51.63 She said when she went to the bottom of everything, 00:18:51.73\00:18:56.46 she knelt for the first time. She said, "Lord, 00:18:56.56\00:18:59.27 if you care for me, please send someone 00:18:59.33\00:19:01.47 to help me, because I need peace." - Yeah. 00:19:01.57\00:19:04.47 - And when she said, "Amen," we rang the 00:19:04.57\00:19:06.44 bell. - Wow. Talk about an on-time God. - That's 00:19:06.51\00:19:11.05 what we call divine appointments. - Yes. 00:19:11.15\00:19:13.35 - You're going to hear a lot of them. - Absolutely. 00:19:13.42\00:19:15.88 Man! That's powerful. Well, you definitely 00:19:15.95\00:19:18.99 ended up with the testimony that you 00:19:19.09\00:19:21.32 were praying for, for sure. Bill, what stories 00:19:21.42\00:19:24.33 or testimonies do you have? - You know, I 00:19:24.46\00:19:26.76 could tell you a bunch of them, but I'll just share 00:19:26.83\00:19:28.46 a short one that happened to me 10 days ago. 10 days 00:19:28.53\00:19:31.57 ago from when I'm sitting in this chair, I was in a 00:19:31.67\00:19:33.64 large city in California, and I had with me a 00:19:33.74\00:19:36.17 very young man. We were meeting people, and we 00:19:36.24\00:19:41.68 gave a piece of literature to this man. He said, "What 00:19:41.74\00:19:46.08 is this?" I said, "It's something encouraging 00:19:46.15\00:19:49.12 from the Bible; Bible- based literature." 00:19:49.18\00:19:51.72 He said, "Oh!" I said, "We're from this 00:19:51.79\00:19:54.82 Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church right 00:19:54.89\00:19:57.43 over here by the railroad tracks." He said to me, 00:19:57.46\00:20:00.40 "Oh." He says, "I used to be Seventh-day 00:20:00.46\00:20:02.96 Adventist." And I said, "Oh." I said, "Well, 00:20:03.06\00:20:06.80 you oughta come back. It's a really friendly 00:20:06.87\00:20:08.47 church!" And he said to me, "I've been 00:20:08.50\00:20:11.81 meaning to do that," and he began to look 00:20:11.87\00:20:14.44 regretful and sorrowful, but still hopeful. And I 00:20:14.48\00:20:19.05 said, "You know, we have some young adults 00:20:19.11\00:20:20.68 who are in this city, and they're looking 00:20:20.72\00:20:22.48 for people to study the Bible with." And he says, 00:20:22.55\00:20:24.35 "Well, I live right over here on this 00:20:24.42\00:20:25.75 street. I'd be happy to give you my phone 00:20:25.79\00:20:27.12 number." So, he did. That night, the young 00:20:27.16\00:20:28.99 adults texted him, and they set up a Bible 00:20:29.06\00:20:31.93 study. Turns out that the place where he lives 00:20:31.99\00:20:33.53 was right across the street from where our 00:20:33.60\00:20:35.16 young adult Bible workers were living. And the very 00:20:35.26\00:20:38.23 next day, they held a Bible study with him, 00:20:38.33\00:20:39.90 and he says, "I want to come to church this 00:20:39.97\00:20:41.30 Sabbath." So, this is not something that I 00:20:41.34\00:20:46.37 cooked up. - Yeah. Yeah. - This is us 00:20:46.44\00:20:47.91 showing up and God making something 00:20:47.98\00:20:50.41 special happen. - Wow. - And that's what happens 00:20:50.51\00:20:52.41 for young people all the time. You know, 00:20:52.51\00:20:54.48 the young man who was with me was like, "Whoa, 00:20:54.58\00:20:56.35 what's going on here?" - Mhm, mhm. Man! 00:20:56.45\00:20:59.49 - It's amazing for a young person to know... 00:20:59.55\00:21:03.56 Usually, you see powerful stories, 00:21:04.46\00:21:06.23 crazy things happen; but usually, you hear 00:21:06.33\00:21:09.76 from those preachers, pastors, evangelists 00:21:09.83\00:21:12.47 telling all these amazing stories...but young people 00:21:12.53\00:21:15.57 are also having them. - Yes. - So, the realizations that 00:21:15.64\00:21:19.11 are like, wow - God can also use me to do great 00:21:19.17\00:21:22.54 things for him, and that's like an eye- 00:21:22.64\00:21:25.85 opening experience for many young people, 00:21:25.91\00:21:27.88 because God does want to use them. - Yes, 00:21:27.98\00:21:30.12 absolutely. We have another video we'd 00:21:30.22\00:21:33.09 like to share, and this video summarizes the 00:21:33.15\00:21:35.42 whole experience of Youth Rush from the perspective 00:21:35.49\00:21:38.53 of a young person - of a student. - Nice. 00:21:38.59\00:21:41.26 Well, let's go ahead and take a look at 00:21:41.33\00:21:42.93 that right now. 00:21:43.03\00:21:44.37 - Well, there are a lot of emotions as a 00:21:46.13\00:21:48.74 canvasser. So, when you first come, you're like, 00:21:48.84\00:21:51.57 scared out of your mind. "What in the 00:21:51.67\00:21:53.68 world did I get myself into? There are all 00:21:53.78\00:21:55.31 these people that I don't know, and I'm 00:21:55.38\00:21:57.68 going to talk to strangers tomorrow and knock on 00:21:57.78\00:21:59.81 their door!?" I can say that Youth Rush 00:21:59.85\00:22:03.12 students are some of the most courageous 00:22:03.18\00:22:04.52 people I know. They go out there and 00:22:04.55\00:22:07.16 they face their fears - there is some fear that 00:22:07.22\00:22:09.02 goes into it when you're first going out and knocking 00:22:09.12\00:22:11.79 on doors - but it's incredible. You have 00:22:11.89\00:22:14.43 this feeling before you're going to go 00:22:14.50\00:22:16.10 out to the field of nervousness and fear 00:22:16.20\00:22:18.93 and all of this stuff, and then you go throughout 00:22:19.03\00:22:21.90 your day and you have these incredible experiences 00:22:21.97\00:22:24.04 that just pump you up like no other. Canvassers 00:22:24.14\00:22:26.91 can all relate to what I'm talking about. 00:22:26.98\00:22:28.81 You leave to the field, and you're scared, 00:22:28.91\00:22:31.31 but then you come back just rejoicing and so filled 00:22:31.41\00:22:34.42 with joy that, really, a lot of other experiences 00:22:34.48\00:22:37.52 in life really can't relate to. It's just 00:22:37.59\00:22:39.92 this joy of seeing someone that was like, "I was just 00:22:39.99\00:22:42.22 praying for you to come!" Or seeing God at work 00:22:42.29\00:22:44.39 right in front of you. I mean, I don't even know 00:22:44.49\00:22:46.96 how to describe the joy that's there, 00:22:47.06\00:22:48.40 but it's literally addicting. That's why people continue 00:22:48.50\00:22:51.83 day after day even though it is so hard, 00:22:51.93\00:22:54.50 but they continue to do it because it's really 00:22:54.60\00:22:56.71 the most highly rewarding things that you can do- 00:22:56.77\00:22:59.07 not just canvassing, but evangelism in 00:22:59.14\00:23:01.28 general. When you get over that fear and you 00:23:01.34\00:23:03.14 go for it, you actually do it, and see God at work. 00:23:03.21\00:23:05.38 You can't get enough of it. - Hi! We're at Tiffany's 00:23:06.41\00:23:09.62 house. Us canvassers are just taking a break 00:23:09.75\00:23:12.35 on our Friday and enjoying kicking back here at Tiffany's 00:23:12.45\00:23:15.26 house. Here, we're about to go swimming, eating, 00:23:15.32\00:23:17.46 having fun with each other, start the whole entire week... 00:23:17.56\00:23:20.10 We're out there in the hot sun, knocking on doors 00:23:20.20\00:23:22.96 for 8 hours. Yeah, let's take a look over here. 00:23:23.06\00:23:26.43 Yeah, so, right here, we actually have the 00:23:31.67\00:23:34.08 rest of our canvassing group. Say hi, guys. 00:23:34.18\00:23:36.18 [Hi!] We're just enjoying our Friday, just chilling 00:23:36.24\00:23:39.58 back with one another, eating our chips and 00:23:39.65\00:23:41.38 everything, enjoying each other's company. 00:23:41.48\00:23:43.12 And here, we have one of our knocked out canvassers, 00:23:43.18\00:23:46.15 because it's a hard week of...working, 00:23:46.22\00:23:51.76 knocking on doors... Yeah. One night, I 00:23:51.83\00:23:54.76 asked God to give me a divine appointment at 00:23:54.83\00:23:56.90 one of the doors. I knock on Sadie's door 00:23:56.97\00:23:59.47 and she opens up, and we get to talking, and 00:23:59.50\00:24:02.70 I show her a Christ's Object Lessons and a 00:24:02.80\00:24:05.37 Steps to Christ. Her face lights up and says, 00:24:05.44\00:24:07.48 "Oh, I actually bought these books two years 00:24:07.51\00:24:09.78 ago. And since then, I've been taking them 00:24:09.84\00:24:12.71 everywhere with me, and I've been giving 00:24:12.78\00:24:14.75 people Bible studies on them and showing 00:24:14.82\00:24:16.62 them how God actually loves them and wants 00:24:16.69\00:24:18.85 to be with them." And then- so after that, 00:24:18.95\00:24:21.49 I wanted to give her a Great Controversy 00:24:21.59\00:24:25.43 and DVD on Bible prophecy, and she was able to sign 00:24:25.53\00:24:30.67 up for personal Bible studies, as well. 00:24:30.73\00:24:32.33 - You know, I never thought that I would 00:24:33.17\00:24:35.74 do 10 summers in a row of Youth Rush; but when 00:24:35.80\00:24:40.68 I think about why, I keep coming back and 00:24:40.78\00:24:42.41 coming into the leadership now. I think of the lives 00:24:42.44\00:24:46.78 of the students that are changed. 00:24:46.88\00:24:48.38 It's really incredible, because growing up 00:24:48.48\00:24:51.09 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church here in the NAD, 00:24:51.15\00:24:54.32 I've realized that more and more young people 00:24:54.42\00:24:57.13 are leaving the church, and we know that. But 00:24:57.23\00:25:00.06 it's awesome to be a part of something where 00:25:00.16\00:25:02.86 for two-and-a-half months during the summer every 00:25:02.90\00:25:06.00 single year, we gather together, this group 00:25:06.07\00:25:08.90 of young people that come from all kinds of 00:25:08.94\00:25:11.27 spiritual backgrounds, spiritual experiences, 00:25:11.37\00:25:14.38 but they come together. And as they're going 00:25:14.44\00:25:17.35 door-to-door doing evangelism, they start 00:25:17.41\00:25:20.35 having a renewed experience with God. We start seeing 00:25:20.45\00:25:23.79 young people who, maybe before, were just kind of 00:25:23.85\00:25:26.42 coming to church just because, or weren't really into it and 00:25:26.49\00:25:29.56 didn't know why they trusted the Bible or 00:25:29.62\00:25:31.76 why they were even Adventist, but they 00:25:31.83\00:25:33.60 come; and as the summer goes on and as they feed 00:25:33.66\00:25:36.06 on the Word, as they pray, as they knock 00:25:36.13\00:25:39.47 on doors, as they talk to people and see God 00:25:39.53\00:25:41.17 at work right in front of their faces, all of 00:25:41.24\00:25:43.41 a sudden, they kind of tap into, like, why they're 00:25:43.51\00:25:46.24 Seventh-day Adventist- the reason in the mission 00:25:46.34\00:25:48.91 of the church-and they start to adopt it as their 00:25:48.98\00:25:52.85 own. It's so amazing, because Youth Rush 00:25:52.91\00:25:55.38 gives me hope as a young person that Jesus can 00:25:55.48\00:25:57.49 actually come in my lifetime. It gives me hope, because 00:25:57.59\00:26:00.79 I see young people that are so excited. And after 00:26:00.86\00:26:04.23 they're done with Youth Rush, they leave to their 00:26:04.29\00:26:07.53 homes and they get their churches on fire. They want 00:26:07.63\00:26:09.96 to be GLOW leaders. They want to go on 00:26:10.03\00:26:11.40 GLOW mission trips. They want to have their friends 00:26:11.43\00:26:14.44 come and do Youth Rush the next summer; and it 00:26:14.50\00:26:16.34 just continues. Through this program, I have 00:26:16.47\00:26:19.74 devoted my life to it, and I encourage other 00:26:19.84\00:26:22.14 people to devote their lives to it, because 00:26:22.21\00:26:24.15 I believe that it's through young people like this that 00:26:24.21\00:26:27.12 God is going to use to finish His work. It gives 00:26:27.18\00:26:30.35 me a lot of hope as a young person that 00:26:30.42\00:26:32.12 Jesus can come in my lifetime. 00:26:32.22\00:26:34.22 - Wow. Now, you know, one of the interesting 00:26:42.13\00:26:44.53 things is as I was watching the video, 00:26:44.63\00:26:47.24 I was just thinking about the fact that- 00:26:47.30\00:26:49.90 like-there's no healthier friendship, no healthier 00:26:49.97\00:26:52.64 bond that could be formed other than doing something 00:26:52.71\00:26:56.64 for the Lord together and how they're coming 00:26:56.75\00:26:59.78 together, and they're also studying the Word 00:26:59.81\00:27:02.18 together, and all of those things. Renella 00:27:02.28\00:27:06.05 spoke to... The fact that there's a sense 00:27:06.15\00:27:09.22 of urgency and that there's a hope that Jesus can come 00:27:09.32\00:27:13.23 back during our lifetime, which is amazing. Amazing. 00:27:13.29\00:27:19.03 - We're happy to see young people catching 00:27:19.13\00:27:23.10 on fire for the Lord, and they realize that 00:27:23.20\00:27:26.11 they can take part in this time, you know? 00:27:26.21\00:27:31.61 The work in this time. It's amazing to see them 00:27:31.71\00:27:34.68 in action and how the... Like she mentioned, 00:27:34.78\00:27:38.32 like a young person that's changed. 00:27:38.39\00:27:40.49 You can see one person that... We have a student 00:27:41.22\00:27:44.69 that was struggling with certain things, and you 00:27:44.76\00:27:47.26 can see at the end of the summer, going back 00:27:47.33\00:27:49.90 to the school as a preacher now. 00:27:49.96\00:27:51.87 - Wow. - So, those are the 00:27:52.13\00:27:53.87 type of things that are so rewarding. 00:27:53.97\00:27:55.50 - Yes. And, you know, the Bible says, "By 00:27:55.60\00:27:57.91 beholding, we become changed. So, all those 00:27:58.01\00:28:00.88 that they're beholding changed them. 00:28:00.94\00:28:03.08 - And my best friends in my life and spiritual 00:28:03.14\00:28:05.35 life, actually, they came because I was 00:28:05.41\00:28:07.95 doing work on- working for God with them. 'Cause 00:28:08.05\00:28:11.25 we struggled together, we've fought together, 00:28:11.32\00:28:13.49 and they're like buddies for life. We pass out 00:28:13.56\00:28:17.93 Christian literature, we share Steps to Christ, 00:28:17.99\00:28:22.23 Great Controversies, and all of these books, 00:28:22.33\00:28:25.03 and people might wonder, you know, if this is actually- 00:28:25.13\00:28:28.70 if people are actually getting it, you know? 00:28:28.77\00:28:31.24 Literature, books, etc. Books are still relevant. 00:28:31.31\00:28:36.24 - That's right. Books are still relevant, 00:28:36.31\00:28:38.45 people do still read. In fact, Americans 00:28:38.51\00:28:42.05 have spent more money on books year after year 00:28:42.12\00:28:45.65 for several years. It's amazing! People do read. 00:28:45.72\00:28:49.29 I think of a story: I was sitting on the 00:28:49.39\00:28:52.33 platform at a church; I was about to preach, 00:28:52.39\00:28:55.16 and I looked out into the audience and there 00:28:55.26\00:28:57.37 was a young man, a young adult, there with his wife, 00:28:57.43\00:28:59.83 and he was kind of not paying attention. He was 00:28:59.93\00:29:03.41 reading his Bible, and that caught my eye. 00:29:03.47\00:29:05.74 He was a young adult in church and he's 00:29:05.84\00:29:08.04 reading his Bible? And so I thought, "I want 00:29:08.14\00:29:10.31 to get to know who this guy is." So, I chatted 00:29:10.41\00:29:12.41 with him after the service, and he told me this story. 00:29:12.48\00:29:16.35 He said that some young man came to his door 00:29:16.42\00:29:18.95 (he was a Youth Rush student), and he got 00:29:19.05\00:29:21.62 the book Great Controversy. He also got a Great Controversy 00:29:21.69\00:29:24.66 from his friend at work. He got two Great Controversies, 00:29:24.73\00:29:27.60 and he thought, "Wow, I better read this book." 00:29:27.66\00:29:29.20 To make a long story short, he read the book, 00:29:29.26\00:29:31.40 and he was baptized... and so was his wife, 00:29:31.47\00:29:33.84 and they're active members of their 00:29:33.94\00:29:35.44 local church. So, you know, God uses inspired 00:29:35.54\00:29:39.37 writers. He uses literature in a big way. But, you know, 00:29:39.44\00:29:43.11 it goes beyond that though, too, Jason, 00:29:43.18\00:29:45.01 because we see in Youth Rush programs, 00:29:45.11\00:29:47.18 we see God using personal contact as well as the 00:29:47.28\00:29:52.42 literature itself. We live in a very 00:29:52.49\00:29:54.62 impersonal society. We live in a society 00:29:54.66\00:29:57.69 that's wired and teched with phones and devices 00:29:57.79\00:30:01.50 and all those things, and people really... 00:30:01.60\00:30:04.53 they really appreciate when there's a smiling 00:30:04.63\00:30:07.34 young face that's courteous and polite 00:30:07.44\00:30:09.44 at their door that cares about them. And I mean, 00:30:09.50\00:30:12.07 I have story after story that illustrates that. 00:30:12.17\00:30:14.21 I think of a story that just happened recently. 00:30:14.31\00:30:16.31 There was a young man who's a student at 00:30:16.41\00:30:19.11 La Sierra University right now. He went 00:30:19.21\00:30:22.45 to the door, and the man looked at him and 00:30:22.55\00:30:24.92 said, "I'm not interested." The man is in the process 00:30:24.99\00:30:28.19 of closing the door when Nathan sees 00:30:28.26\00:30:31.19 inside, he sees a piano. He says, "Oh, that's 00:30:31.29\00:30:33.56 a nice piano! I play the piano!" And the 00:30:33.63\00:30:35.86 man stopped, and inside the house, there was 00:30:35.93\00:30:38.53 a little five-year-old boy. The five-year-old 00:30:38.63\00:30:40.87 boy said, "Daddy... Daddy, this man plays the piano. 00:30:40.94\00:30:44.11 Can he come in and play?" And Nathan says, "Yeah, 00:30:44.21\00:30:46.54 I love playing the piano." And the man said, "Okay, 00:30:46.64\00:30:49.18 but make it quick." So, Nathan goes in, 00:30:49.28\00:30:52.75 plays a beautiful song on the piano. 00:30:52.88\00:30:54.62 The five-year-old loves it. He plays another song, 00:30:54.72\00:30:56.52 and the little boy says, "Daddy, can he come 00:30:56.62\00:30:59.25 over and teach me the piano this week?" 00:30:59.35\00:31:01.46 The man says, "Yeah, he can do that." So, 00:31:01.56\00:31:04.36 the next day, Nathan came and gave a very 00:31:04.43\00:31:06.83 short piano lesson to the boy. And the next day, 00:31:06.90\00:31:09.13 he did the same thing. And several days went 00:31:09.20\00:31:11.27 by of piano lessons until they finally shared 00:31:11.33\00:31:14.24 a meal together. The man turned and looked 00:31:14.30\00:31:17.01 at Nathan and said, "Weren't you going 00:31:17.07\00:31:18.67 to tell me something about God?" He then 00:31:18.77\00:31:22.04 showed him his books, he got a bunch of books 00:31:22.11\00:31:23.81 from Nathan, they started Bible studies, and the man 00:31:23.88\00:31:27.18 was baptized. - That is amazing. 00:31:27.25\00:31:29.78 That's Christ's method! There was the need, 00:31:29.85\00:31:32.89 he met the need, he developed that relationship, 00:31:32.95\00:31:36.19 and then led in evangelism. - That's right. And this man 00:31:36.29\00:31:40.26 is attending church faithfully, he's the Adventurer leader 00:31:40.30\00:31:43.50 in his church, working with the children. You know, 00:31:43.57\00:31:47.07 God uses Youth Rush to reach out to people. 00:31:47.14\00:31:52.44 - Yes. Wow! That's amazing. - There are a lot of people 00:31:52.54\00:31:56.95 out there...a lot of people just waiting 00:31:57.05\00:31:59.75 to be gathered. They don't even know that 00:31:59.88\00:32:01.92 their church is close by. How they know is when 00:32:01.98\00:32:05.35 we go to them. That is the key that has been 00:32:05.42\00:32:09.66 happening, yeah. - So, in other words, 00:32:09.76\00:32:11.09 you're saying that it doesn't do any good 00:32:11.13\00:32:13.63 to just hold onto this good news for ourselves 00:32:13.70\00:32:17.30 just to hold onto it, but we need to share 00:32:17.37\00:32:19.40 it with the world. That's what you're 00:32:19.47\00:32:20.80 telling me? - That is correct. 00:32:20.84\00:32:22.17 - Absolutely. - The students, they have 00:32:22.20\00:32:25.34 Bible studies when they're outbase. 00:32:25.37\00:32:28.24 The leaders give them Bible studies (as their 00:32:28.31\00:32:31.51 request). I have many students even getting 00:32:31.58\00:32:34.48 baptized during the summer, and that has 00:32:34.55\00:32:37.22 happened. They're so excited for God, and they 00:32:37.32\00:32:40.82 go out and they share it to people; yes, mhm. 00:32:40.89\00:32:43.36 - So, what is the typical approach? Right- so, 00:32:43.43\00:32:48.93 literature evangelist goes and they knock 00:32:50.23\00:32:51.77 on the door... I mean, what does the spiel 00:32:51.83\00:32:55.10 sound like? What do they say? I mean, how does that go? 00:32:55.20\00:32:58.87 - It varies, depending on the part of the 00:33:01.11\00:33:03.21 country that you're working in. But generally, 00:33:03.28\00:33:06.45 the student is courteous and says, "I'm a student 00:33:06.51\00:33:09.38 working for my schooling," and then they show them 00:33:09.45\00:33:12.85 some books. So, we train students to make friends 00:33:12.95\00:33:16.69 at doors, and that's the key thing: to let 00:33:16.76\00:33:19.43 people know that you're a real person and that 00:33:19.49\00:33:21.13 you care about them and that you show them the 00:33:21.16\00:33:23.93 books and try to meet their needs and ask 00:33:24.00\00:33:25.73 about their family and get to know them. 00:33:25.83\00:33:28.74 And so, that's the main thing. We try 00:33:28.80\00:33:31.24 to train students to know the pathway to 00:33:31.34\00:33:33.11 reach people's hearts. That's the main thing. 00:33:33.17\00:33:35.48 I'm thinking about another story that happened, Jason. 00:33:35.54\00:33:38.11 There was a girl named Christen, and Christen 00:33:38.18\00:33:41.62 was going door-to-door, met a family, they bought 00:33:41.72\00:33:45.65 some books, they signed up for Bible studies... And 00:33:45.72\00:33:48.02 Christin's a very loving girl. She cared about 00:33:48.12\00:33:50.53 these people, and she had to go back to school 00:33:50.59\00:33:53.40 like our students do, but a local person 00:33:53.50\00:33:57.33 followed up, and the husband and the wife 00:33:57.40\00:34:00.00 and one of the children (was old enough) was 00:34:00.07\00:34:02.20 baptized. But Christen got to show up at that 00:34:02.30\00:34:06.98 baptism, which happened several months after the 00:34:07.04\00:34:10.28 summer. And so, here she is, watching the 00:34:10.35\00:34:13.42 people whose door she knocked on get baptized. 00:34:13.48\00:34:16.25 She was so thrilled! And I'll never forget- 00:34:16.32\00:34:18.12 we were in the fellowship hall afterwards, and the 00:34:18.19\00:34:20.62 lady who was baptized had wet hair. She was 00:34:20.72\00:34:23.22 giving Christen a hug; and she said, "I don't 00:34:23.32\00:34:27.00 know what I would've done if you hadn't 00:34:27.06\00:34:29.03 knocked on my door." - Wow. That's powerful. 00:34:29.10\00:34:31.47 - That's what she said to Christen! With the 00:34:31.53\00:34:33.54 big hug and wet hair. - Yeah... Yeah. That 00:34:33.64\00:34:36.27 is powerful. So, you know, it's like they 00:34:36.34\00:34:39.34 get to see God at work. Wow. Well, I know you 00:34:39.41\00:34:44.81 have some more stories, too. Both of you guys 00:34:44.88\00:34:47.05 are full of stories with literature evangelism. 00:34:47.15\00:34:51.02 - We enjoy- I mean, we get to see that we work 00:34:51.12\00:34:55.82 in the field with them; and when we hear those 00:34:55.89\00:34:58.39 stories... These are real experiences, like 00:34:58.46\00:35:01.30 remember one- because you don't know what 00:35:01.36\00:35:03.60 happens with those books! Because you will leave 00:35:03.63\00:35:06.10 those books, and you don't know what happens- 00:35:06.17\00:35:07.94 and heaven will tell. But sometimes, many 00:35:08.00\00:35:12.11 times, God gives you the story, though. 00:35:12.21\00:35:14.44 I remember last summer, one of our students, 00:35:14.54\00:35:17.91 she was knocking on doors. A lady opens the door, 00:35:17.98\00:35:21.28 and she shows her the book-again, you know- 00:35:21.35\00:35:23.39 Steps to Christ... Peace Above the Storm. And 00:35:23.45\00:35:25.75 she says, "This is the book!" and she goes 00:35:25.85\00:35:28.76 and tells her the story: "Last year, I got this 00:35:28.82\00:35:32.29 book from another colporteur, like, 00:35:32.36\00:35:34.06 another Youth Rush student." And she says, 00:35:34.13\00:35:37.17 "I got this book two months before I was 00:35:37.27\00:35:40.40 diagnosed with cancer." She grabbed the book 00:35:40.47\00:35:44.77 and she said, "This book helped me to 00:35:44.84\00:35:46.51 get through all of this. I wouldn't know what 00:35:46.57\00:35:49.11 to do without this book." She didn't just say that; 00:35:49.18\00:35:53.45 she's like, "Do you have more?" And she got way 00:35:53.48\00:35:55.85 more books! And you can say, "Wow, I don't 00:35:55.88\00:35:59.52 know if that canvasser knows the story," but 00:35:59.55\00:36:02.22 she knew that God is actually using young 00:36:02.29\00:36:06.66 people, working with them and they're touching people's 00:36:06.73\00:36:09.66 lives; yes. - Yeah. You said, 00:36:09.73\00:36:11.60 David, that often, the young person may not 00:36:11.67\00:36:13.84 know the effects of what they've done. 00:36:13.90\00:36:16.17 That's usual. We often receive experiences 00:36:16.24\00:36:19.17 and testimonies that we find out four or 00:36:19.21\00:36:21.38 five, six, years later. One of the- there was 00:36:21.44\00:36:24.51 a Sabbath school teacher in one of the largest 00:36:24.58\00:36:25.98 churches where I live, and he says, "Oh, yeah- 00:36:26.05\00:36:28.82 five years ago, this girl knocked on my door. 00:36:28.88\00:36:30.72 I got a DVD from her, I watched it, and 00:36:30.82\00:36:33.25 I started weeping and it changed my life," 00:36:33.36\00:36:35.22 and he was baptized. I have no idea who the 00:36:35.29\00:36:38.39 girl was. It had to be one of the 10 girls on 00:36:38.46\00:36:41.56 that team... We'll never know which one. So, we 00:36:41.63\00:36:44.93 often don't know. I will say that it's encouraging 00:36:45.03\00:36:47.74 when we receive testimonies from customers, from people 00:36:47.80\00:36:52.91 who have gotten books. I have one here: there was 00:36:52.97\00:36:57.01 a man who was an atheist, and a young woman named 00:36:57.08\00:37:02.08 Nancy spoke to him, and he was amazed. 00:37:02.15\00:37:05.95 This is in his words, the words of the atheist: 00:37:06.02\00:37:08.29 he said, "She spoke with such love and kindness. 00:37:08.36\00:37:11.63 She told me she wanted to share the love of Jesus 00:37:11.69\00:37:14.20 to everyone. I am a non-Christian. I don't 00:37:14.30\00:37:17.20 like it when people pray for me, but I let her pray, 00:37:17.27\00:37:20.20 and it was beautiful." Isn't that nice? Yeah. 00:37:20.27\00:37:23.87 So, we want to have young people who are 00:37:23.94\00:37:25.87 courteous and who share the love of Christ. - Yeah. 00:37:25.97\00:37:28.98 And I think that approach that's so needed is the 00:37:29.04\00:37:32.25 loving approach, because that's the approach that 00:37:32.31\00:37:34.62 Christ takes. - And we're talking about young people 00:37:34.72\00:37:38.25 that are sincere. Young people are one of the 00:37:38.35\00:37:42.52 most sincere people. They're not playing 00:37:42.59\00:37:45.19 around. If they're mean, they are going to be mean; 00:37:45.29\00:37:49.13 but if they're gentle and they want to be 00:37:49.23\00:37:52.33 kind, they are...and that is touching people's lives. 00:37:52.43\00:37:55.84 - Yes, it is. - God is doing so much, and 00:37:55.94\00:37:59.51 it's incredible that, for instance, the story about 00:37:59.57\00:38:02.44 Jemima. She went to knock at the door, and the lady 00:38:02.54\00:38:06.21 bought a Peace Above the Storm. She asked, "Hey, 00:38:06.31\00:38:09.78 do you want the receipt?" And the lady said, "Yeah! 00:38:09.85\00:38:12.99 Give me the receipt;" and she said, "What's 00:38:13.05\00:38:14.56 your name again?" She said, "My name is Jemima," and 00:38:14.62\00:38:18.76 the lady started crying. She just started crying, 00:38:18.83\00:38:21.00 and Jemima was our student. She's like, "What did I do 00:38:21.06\00:38:24.17 wrong? Did I mess up something?" and she 00:38:24.23\00:38:27.67 kept trying to comfort her. She said, "No, no, 00:38:27.74\00:38:29.97 no," and she told her the story that, not 00:38:30.04\00:38:32.17 too long ago, her grandma passed away, and she said 00:38:32.24\00:38:38.28 that her name was Jemima, as well. She was looking in 00:38:38.35\00:38:41.75 her grandma's stuff, and she realized that she was 00:38:41.85\00:38:44.19 a Christian. And that morning, she was praying 00:38:44.25\00:38:48.52 that God will send her someone that will bring 00:38:48.59\00:38:52.69 her peace in her life... and here was Peace 00:38:52.76\00:38:54.83 Above the Storm. Young people can be an answer 00:38:54.90\00:38:58.00 to prayer, you know? And that is the neat 00:38:58.07\00:39:00.70 part of the ministry. - Yeah, absolutely. 00:39:00.80\00:39:03.10 Absolutely. Bill, what are some things that 00:39:03.20\00:39:06.41 you've experienced personally as you've 00:39:06.47\00:39:09.28 gone out? - Good question. When I was a young man 00:39:09.34\00:39:12.78 and working- meeting people...meeting lots 00:39:12.88\00:39:18.02 of people. I was young; I didn't know what I was 00:39:18.09\00:39:21.22 doing, but I wanted to work for the Lord. I met 00:39:21.26\00:39:23.29 a young man who said, "Look, I can't talk to 00:39:23.36\00:39:26.83 you now; can we talk later?" I said, "Sure." 00:39:26.90\00:39:28.90 So, I went to his house later, and he bought... 00:39:28.96\00:39:31.20 He got 16 books from me. He got everything. 00:39:31.27\00:39:33.30 This is amazing! And he wanted to know the 00:39:33.34\00:39:36.44 Bible. He wanted to learn the Bible. I had to go back 00:39:36.50\00:39:39.31 to school, so I took off and went back to 00:39:39.37\00:39:40.84 school. But one of the church members there, 00:39:40.91\00:39:43.61 faithful church members, studied with this man, 00:39:43.71\00:39:45.48 and he was baptized. I felt very pleased 00:39:45.55\00:39:49.28 about that, because I was a young person. 00:39:49.38\00:39:50.85 I had to go to school. But during the time when 00:39:50.99\00:39:54.06 I wasn't in school, during break, I used 00:39:54.16\00:39:56.49 it to serve God, and that's what's rewarding 00:39:56.56\00:40:00.90 to me as a young person. We have one more video 00:40:00.96\00:40:03.43 to share. David, tell us about that video. - Yes. 00:40:03.53\00:40:06.80 One of the greatest things that you can have in this 00:40:06.87\00:40:08.84 program is He's going to affirm your faith. You 00:40:08.90\00:40:12.54 are going to be standing on the solid rock, and 00:40:12.61\00:40:15.68 that's what you're going to see in the 00:40:15.78\00:40:17.68 video. - Nice. Well, let's take a look at 00:40:17.75\00:40:19.75 that right now. 00:40:19.81\00:40:21.15 - I was very energetic. I was so happy to 00:40:23.02\00:40:25.15 canvass on this particular day, but books were not 00:40:25.25\00:40:28.26 [selling]. I did all that I could do- my training 00:40:28.32\00:40:30.69 well. I did my best, but there were no books 00:40:30.79\00:40:34.43 going out the whole day, and Satan was trying to 00:40:34.53\00:40:37.43 put me down and discourage me. 00:40:37.53\00:40:39.43 I was like, exhausted. But finally, the last 00:40:39.50\00:40:42.64 drop of the day, I met this lady. Her name is 00:40:42.74\00:40:45.64 Sister Leah. She has four children; she was 00:40:45.71\00:40:48.01 very much not a receptive person. She said, "Please 00:40:48.08\00:40:51.65 go away; it's time to sleep. We have nothing 00:40:51.75\00:40:54.28 to do with any of you. Please go away." She was trying 00:40:54.38\00:40:56.82 to send me away. I tried to canvass, tried to ask 00:40:56.89\00:40:59.45 her questions...nothing worked. And finally, 00:40:59.52\00:41:02.16 I just stopped canvassing there, instead, talking 00:41:02.22\00:41:04.43 to her as a normal friend. She was interested in my 00:41:04.49\00:41:07.70 testimony, that I'm going to be a pastor 00:41:07.76\00:41:10.00 in India and a missionary wherever the Lord sends 00:41:10.07\00:41:12.87 me. She decided to ask me questions, and she 00:41:12.93\00:41:16.54 said, "What books do you have?" I showed her a 00:41:16.60\00:41:19.04 kid's set of books that we had, Jesus from the 00:41:19.11\00:41:22.14 New Testament, and Old Testament books, as well, 00:41:22.21\00:41:25.21 and she was so interested in the kid's set. I also gave 00:41:25.31\00:41:28.58 her devotional sets like Steps to Christ, Christ's 00:41:28.65\00:41:32.22 Object Lesson, and Desire of Ages. She was interested 00:41:32.29\00:41:35.76 in that book, and she was interested in the 00:41:35.86\00:41:37.86 prophecy sets like The Great Controversy and 00:41:37.96\00:41:40.63 Daniel Chronicles. She was interested in all my books 00:41:40.73\00:41:43.73 and my DVDs. She was so impressed by all these DVDs 00:41:43.83\00:41:47.27 and the books, and she ended up getting all the books that 00:41:47.34\00:41:50.91 I had in my bag. She said, "At this time, 00:41:50.97\00:41:54.01 I have $150 in my pocket in cash. 00:41:54.11\00:41:57.68 Will that be enough?" And I said, "It's enough- 00:41:57.78\00:42:00.28 to pay $150." She said, "This is my only salary 00:42:00.35\00:42:04.69 for this week. I'm just a babysitter. I don't 00:42:04.75\00:42:07.86 have any other money apart from this, but I 00:42:07.96\00:42:09.96 would rather give it for a good cause than 00:42:10.06\00:42:12.23 to spend for myself. I don't know what I'm 00:42:12.29\00:42:14.63 going to do next week, but I know the Lord is 00:42:14.70\00:42:16.80 going to take care of me." That really encouraged me 00:42:16.87\00:42:19.87 so much by her lifestyle and by her testimony. 00:42:19.93\00:42:23.64 She said, "Take it all and serve Jesus," 00:42:23.74\00:42:26.78 and I promised her that I will serve Jesus as long 00:42:26.88\00:42:30.51 as I live. We cried, and we really prayed 00:42:30.58\00:42:33.21 together. I was so impressed and remembered a Bible 00:42:33.28\00:42:38.05 verse which Paul said: "For me to live is Christ 00:42:38.15\00:42:42.22 and to die is a gain. Just as Mrs. Leah 00:42:42.29\00:42:46.09 gave $150, not knowing what her future is for 00:42:46.19\00:42:49.93 the next week, that reminded me that I 00:42:50.00\00:42:52.80 should give myself to Jesus completely and 00:42:52.87\00:42:55.50 serve Him entirely as long as I live." 00:42:55.57\00:42:58.81 - That is a powerful, powerful video. There 00:43:12.29\00:43:17.09 are so many stories that go along with this line 00:43:17.16\00:43:22.23 of work. What are some other stories where lives 00:43:22.33\00:43:25.40 have been transformed or lives have been turned 00:43:25.47\00:43:29.74 around? - I think I just remembered a couple 00:43:29.84\00:43:33.81 stories, but I remember a student coming, and 00:43:33.88\00:43:38.81 he was quiet. We, as leaders, we decided 00:43:38.88\00:43:42.72 we're going to put more effort into him because 00:43:42.78\00:43:45.62 he was not that social. We invested a lot. We 00:43:45.69\00:43:49.76 loved him. And in the seventh week, he talked 00:43:49.82\00:43:54.53 to me. We already talked. We hung out, we have 00:43:54.60\00:43:58.23 fun together, we struggle together, as well; we did 00:43:58.30\00:44:01.70 all of that. But in the seventh week, he said, 00:44:01.77\00:44:03.47 "I want to talk to you." He said, "When I came 00:44:03.54\00:44:05.27 here, I just... I've been trying to commit 00:44:05.34\00:44:07.94 suicide for the last year. So, I gave it 00:44:07.98\00:44:10.28 a try, and I was angry against all of you 00:44:10.35\00:44:13.72 because you were all happy. I was angry, 00:44:13.82\00:44:16.92 because I was thinking, 'They don't know what 00:44:17.02\00:44:19.39 life is.'" Because he was kicked out from 00:44:19.52\00:44:22.59 home when he was 11; he lived on the streets. 00:44:22.66\00:44:25.13 And something that we did is share our testimonies, 00:44:25.19\00:44:28.73 as well, because we're not holy people. We're 00:44:28.80\00:44:31.77 not like sinless people at all. We're sinners, 00:44:31.83\00:44:34.84 we need the same grace, and God can forgive us 00:44:34.94\00:44:39.24 from all our sins. When he listened to those, 00:44:39.31\00:44:42.24 he said, "Wow. These people, they also have 00:44:42.31\00:44:45.45 struggles, but they're still happy!" And then 00:44:45.48\00:44:47.72 he said, "I want that happiness." And he 00:44:47.78\00:44:50.02 said, "You know, the fourth week of this 00:44:50.09\00:44:51.55 summer, I gave my life to God." He said, "For 00:44:51.65\00:44:54.32 the first time in my life, I can smile and 00:44:54.36\00:44:57.23 be happy at the same time." So, it was amazing, 00:44:57.29\00:45:00.90 because at that time, he decided, "I'm going 00:45:00.96\00:45:02.36 to serve God." He decided to be a missionary that 00:45:02.43\00:45:05.53 summer. - That is awesome. Bill? I know you're full of 00:45:05.60\00:45:10.41 stories, Bill. - Yeah, that's part of the fun 00:45:10.47\00:45:13.34 of my job is I get to hear these...I get to 00:45:13.41\00:45:16.38 see the hand of God at work. It can be simple, 00:45:16.44\00:45:19.85 and some stories can be more complicated. 00:45:19.91\00:45:22.12 I think of one of the simplest stories. 00:45:22.25\00:45:24.62 We try to leave a Bible study interest card on 00:45:24.75\00:45:27.59 doors where no one is home. Somebody came 00:45:27.66\00:45:30.03 home, filled out the card, sent it in, and 00:45:30.13\00:45:32.03 the husband and wife are baptized. That can 00:45:32.09\00:45:35.06 be that simple...or it can be more complicated. 00:45:35.13\00:45:37.83 I remember the story- this actually happened 00:45:37.93\00:45:40.37 recently. There was one of our young women who 00:45:40.44\00:45:43.10 was going door-to-door, and she met a young woman 00:45:43.20\00:45:46.51 named Erica. Erica was so interested in the 00:45:46.57\00:45:50.55 Bible, interested in her literature, and 00:45:50.65\00:45:53.98 she said, "I want to study the Bible with 00:45:54.05\00:45:55.62 you." And so the young woman said, "Sure." 00:45:55.68\00:45:57.69 So, they had a Bible study, and she said, 00:45:57.75\00:46:00.89 "But I want you to come over before my husband 00:46:00.96\00:46:03.63 gets home, because my husband is from a different 00:46:03.69\00:46:07.93 denomination, and he's going to be upset if he 00:46:07.96\00:46:09.60 finds out that we're studying the Bible. 00:46:09.66\00:46:11.47 He doesn't want us to study the Bible. I'm 00:46:11.57\00:46:13.40 sure he wouldn't." So she said, "Okay, that's 00:46:13.50\00:46:15.64 fine." So, she went over to Erica's house at the 00:46:15.67\00:46:18.77 time and they were having a Bible study, and the 00:46:18.81\00:46:21.04 husband walks in right in the middle of their 00:46:21.11\00:46:23.08 Bible study. He says, "What are you doing 00:46:23.14\00:46:26.35 here? Why are you study- you shouldn't be studying 00:46:26.41\00:46:28.28 the Bible unless I'm here," and he was angry. So, 00:46:28.35\00:46:31.29 our young woman said, "It's nice to meet you," 00:46:31.35\00:46:33.42 and she left; and instead, she came 00:46:33.49\00:46:34.92 back and had a time where they can cook 00:46:34.99\00:46:37.03 together...'cause it's not a Bible study. So, 00:46:37.13\00:46:39.56 they were cooking together, and she 00:46:39.59\00:46:41.16 prayed that God would open the heart of this 00:46:41.23\00:46:43.00 husband. He finally agreed to let them 00:46:43.06\00:46:45.03 study the Bible together. So make a long story 00:46:45.10\00:46:46.57 short, Erica accepted the Lord and was 00:46:46.63\00:46:50.71 baptized, and Erica's brother was baptized 00:46:50.77\00:46:54.44 because of Erica's influence...and Erica's 00:46:54.51\00:46:55.98 son and Erica's sister, and Erica's sister's 00:46:56.04\00:46:58.88 husband, and Erica's sister's husband's 00:46:58.95\00:47:01.45 mother, and Erica's parents, and Erica's 00:47:01.55\00:47:04.52 neighbor were baptized all because of one door 00:47:04.62\00:47:07.46 knock and because God worked through the 00:47:07.52\00:47:10.03 difficulties that were happening. There's 00:47:10.09\00:47:11.83 obstacles, all because a young person was 00:47:11.89\00:47:14.86 willing to knock on one door. - Wow. Wow! 00:47:14.93\00:47:17.83 And so it was like the residual effects! 00:47:17.90\00:47:20.54 - That's right! Waves of blessing. - Man! 00:47:20.60\00:47:22.60 Yeah, that is amazing. You know, you never 00:47:22.67\00:47:25.64 know who's going to be touched as a result of 00:47:25.71\00:47:30.85 what you share with them and the Holy Spirit working 00:47:30.95\00:47:32.95 on their hearts. Like- you know-they studied 00:47:33.01\00:47:35.28 with Erica, and then all of these other 00:47:35.35\00:47:37.82 people came to the Lord. It also speaks to the power 00:47:37.89\00:47:40.59 of influence, as well. You could either influence 00:47:40.66\00:47:44.49 people for good or for bad. But praise the Lord 00:47:44.59\00:47:48.53 that she shared Christ. - Amen. God is using... 00:47:48.63\00:47:55.44 I want to emphasize- God wants to work with 00:47:57.07\00:47:59.77 young people. God wants to tell them that they 00:47:59.87\00:48:04.38 can do great things, as well, and they can 00:48:04.48\00:48:06.35 experience Jesus. All that the youth need to do 00:48:06.41\00:48:10.45 is give Him a chance. You can go to YouTube 00:48:10.55\00:48:15.69 and you can put "Youth Rush," and you're going 00:48:15.79\00:48:17.49 to find a lot of videos. There's one, a story 00:48:17.56\00:48:20.80 from Andrew and how his life was changed in one 00:48:20.90\00:48:24.30 summer. He said the very same thing: "I just needed 00:48:24.40\00:48:30.61 to give him a chance." There might be young 00:48:30.64\00:48:34.08 people that are ready for signup to canvass- 00:48:34.14\00:48:37.71 "Let's go!-but there might be young people 00:48:37.78\00:48:40.98 that will be doubting. "Should I; should I 00:48:41.05\00:48:43.22 not?" I'll say, just give Him a chance. 00:48:43.28\00:48:46.05 Just give him 10 weeks of your life. Just give 00:48:46.69\00:48:49.76 Him a chance and do your best. And then, 00:48:49.82\00:48:53.03 after that, if it doesn't work, you 00:48:53.13\00:48:55.00 can walk out and say, "I gave my best and 00:48:55.06\00:48:57.70 it didn't work out..." But I can tell you 00:48:57.80\00:48:59.83 it's not going to happen. - Yeah. - Because God is 00:48:59.87\00:49:01.67 real. - Yes, He is! - God is real, and He's 00:49:01.74\00:49:03.87 going to reveal Himself to you. That's our goal. 00:49:03.94\00:49:08.38 That's ministry. Yes, you get financial 00:49:08.44\00:49:10.58 blessings; yes, you get a lot of friends... 00:49:10.65\00:49:12.78 but having the assurance that God is real, that's 00:49:13.72\00:49:16.55 going to help you to stand in times of trouble. 00:49:16.62\00:49:20.39 - Absolutely. Absolutely. I was going to ask you 00:49:20.49\00:49:22.96 what your needs were, too, and you pretty much 00:49:23.02\00:49:26.06 covered it in that. So, let's just recap over 00:49:26.13\00:49:30.70 that. What do you need? You need people? - Yes, 00:49:30.77\00:49:34.40 I think mostly, that's right, because young 00:49:34.47\00:49:37.47 people have a lot of options today. The 00:49:37.57\00:49:39.54 economy is strong. There are millions of open jobs... 00:49:39.61\00:49:43.28 but what young person is going to be willing to 00:49:44.98\00:49:47.02 say, "I'm going to put aside what I could've 00:49:47.08\00:49:50.22 done and I could've done well at, and I'm 00:49:50.29\00:49:53.25 going to do something for the Lord," that is 00:49:53.32\00:49:55.19 somewhat uncomfortable. It's difficult ministry, 00:49:55.26\00:49:58.93 but it is tremendously rewarding. So, we're 00:49:58.99\00:50:01.26 looking for young people who are going to be 00:50:01.33\00:50:03.80 willing to do that. At YouthRush.org, there 00:50:03.87\00:50:08.24 are a variety of places that young people can 00:50:08.30\00:50:11.01 sign up for Youth Rush. They can sign up for 00:50:11.11\00:50:13.34 all 12 of them if they want to, but each one 00:50:13.41\00:50:16.85 has their separate location there. And 00:50:16.91\00:50:19.01 that's the first step is for a young person 00:50:19.11\00:50:20.92 to go to that website and apply. - So, 00:50:20.98\00:50:23.12 YouthRush.org. - YouthRush.org. - Nice. And then they can select 00:50:23.18\00:50:26.99 the region that they're in. - That's right, or 00:50:27.06\00:50:30.33 that they're closest to. Uh-huh! That's right. 00:50:30.43\00:50:32.46 - Nice. So, you know, I hope that as a result 00:50:32.53\00:50:36.90 of watching this program that people want to get 00:50:36.97\00:50:39.57 involved, because these are powerful testimonies. 00:50:39.67\00:50:42.37 And, you know, I believe that time is short. You 00:50:42.44\00:50:45.47 guys believe that time is short, that we're 00:50:45.54\00:50:46.98 living in the last days? - Amen! Yeah. And that's 00:50:47.04\00:50:49.61 definitely what's happening right now. God wants to 00:50:49.71\00:50:53.31 train young people, and that's what this work is 00:50:53.42\00:50:56.12 designed for. You want to experience Jesus, 00:50:56.22\00:50:59.09 have the assurance that He exists, and you can 00:50:59.15\00:51:01.39 share Jesus. You can do those two things 00:51:01.46\00:51:04.59 in canvassing. - That's right. To emerge from a 00:51:04.63\00:51:07.73 summer with the confidence to be able to share your 00:51:07.83\00:51:09.86 faith wherever you go and whatever you do. 00:51:09.93\00:51:12.50 I got an email from a former student. She 00:51:12.57\00:51:15.50 works at a healthcare facility, and she said, 00:51:15.57\00:51:17.67 "Bill, just the other day..." No, she said, 00:51:17.77\00:51:20.34 "Just yesterday, I prayed with a patient." And she 00:51:20.41\00:51:23.51 says, "Without having done Youth Rush those 00:51:23.58\00:51:26.58 summers, I wouldn't have had the courage 00:51:26.65\00:51:28.35 to do that! I wouldn't have known what to do!" 00:51:28.38\00:51:30.39 - Wow. - And here she is, as a healthcare 00:51:30.45\00:51:32.35 worker...and that's what we want! We want to see 00:51:32.42\00:51:34.62 young people who are professionals, Christian 00:51:34.72\00:51:37.26 professionals, who are not afraid to share their 00:51:37.33\00:51:39.13 faith." - And so, again, this equips them with 00:51:39.19\00:51:45.03 the tools necessary to do that. It makes them 00:51:45.10\00:51:48.50 comfortable and confident in doing so. Man! I can't 00:51:48.57\00:51:52.77 believe our time is just about up. I mean, 00:51:52.87\00:51:55.18 we went through so many great stories, so many 00:51:55.24\00:51:57.88 great videos, and our time is almost up. 00:51:57.98\00:52:00.78 You know, I really like the idea of the written 00:52:00.88\00:52:07.09 word. There's something about being able to turn 00:52:07.16\00:52:10.89 the pages in a Bible as opposed to going to my 00:52:10.99\00:52:15.23 cell phone and just scrolling and doing 00:52:15.33\00:52:18.13 all of that. I really liked the written word, 00:52:18.23\00:52:21.57 and I can see why literature evangelism is so great, 00:52:21.64\00:52:28.24 coupled with people that care about other people 00:52:28.34\00:52:32.05 genuinely, and also people that are spreading 00:52:32.11\00:52:35.78 the gospel of Jesus Christ- the Holy Spirit pushing 00:52:35.85\00:52:39.39 those efforts. We're going to take a short 00:52:39.49\00:52:42.22 break, and we will be right back. 00:52:42.29\00:52:45.33
