It's 00:03:14.86\00:03:16.26 a beautiful country, a lot of people, a lot 00:03:16.36\00:03:19.03 of motorcycles, and I've enjoyed being in different 00:03:19.09\00:03:22.00 parts of India. Now, let's kind of dive right 00:03:22.06\00:03:25.47 into the program and just talk about these 00:03:25.50\00:03:29.10 concerns, because people watching the 00:03:29.17\00:03:31.37 program, or maybe they're listening in 00:03:31.47\00:03:33.11 their car or from maybe on their radio or whatever 00:03:33.17\00:03:35.74 means they're using, people today, for 00:03:35.84\00:03:39.21 the most part in lifestyle practices like diabetes, 00:03:39.28\00:03:42.75 heart disease, and hypertension are very 00:03:42.82\00:03:45.09 much a real issue in society today. What 00:03:45.15\00:03:48.19 are some of the causes of these...? Let's start 00:03:48.26\00:03:51.89 with diabetes, for example. - Now, as 00:03:51.96\00:03:55.16 you know, India is the diabetic capital 00:03:55.26\00:03:57.53 of the world. We have a lot of diabetes patients 00:03:57.60\00:04:00.00 in India. One of the major reasons for 00:04:00.07\00:04:03.30 diabetes is refined food. When I say 00:04:03.34\00:04:06.54 'refined food,' it's basically... Like the 00:04:06.57\00:04:09.04 southern part of India, we eat a lot of fries. 00:04:09.11\00:04:11.81 And the northern side of India, generally, 00:04:12.45\00:04:14.65 they eat more wheat. Now, what has happened 00:04:14.72\00:04:19.09 is, in earlier days, we used to have 00:04:19.15\00:04:22.66 hand-pound rice. So, we don't refine 00:04:22.72\00:04:25.83 other grains. I mean, that's what you call 00:04:25.89\00:04:29.26 brown rice here, and we call it hand-pound 00:04:29.33\00:04:31.20 rice in India. - Oh, okay. Hand-pound. 00:04:31.27\00:04:33.10 - Yeah, hand-pound rice. So, now, in hand-pound 00:04:33.20\00:04:36.84 rice, you have all the nutrients you need, and 00:04:36.87\00:04:40.34 all of the very important nutrients 00:04:40.41\00:04:41.84 you need for metabolism is chromium. Chromium is an 00:04:41.94\00:04:47.85 important raw material to produce insulin. You 00:04:47.92\00:04:50.89 have your chromium only in the brown rice; but 00:04:50.99\00:04:55.62 when you refine it, then you don't have 00:04:55.72\00:04:57.49 your chromium. And so... - So, in other words, 00:04:57.56\00:05:00.46 if you eat white rice or rice that had been 00:05:00.50\00:05:04.47 bleached, or when you say refined... - That's 00:05:04.53\00:05:07.10 right, yeah. Nowadays, the fiber on top of the 00:05:07.17\00:05:12.37 rice is taken away and it is refined, and so you 00:05:12.47\00:05:15.94 just have the white rice. The white rice 00:05:16.01\00:05:17.91 doesn't have all the nutrients, which means 00:05:17.98\00:05:20.85 your pancreas misses out on certain nutrients 00:05:20.95\00:05:24.39 for it to produce insulin. So, that's one of the 00:05:24.45\00:05:27.46 major reasons why people get diabetes. The same 00:05:27.56\00:05:33.13 goes with wheat, and when you refine the 00:05:33.19\00:05:35.40 wheat and you remove the husk and then you 00:05:35.46\00:05:38.27 don't have these micronutrients that your body needs. So, 00:05:38.33\00:05:41.67 this is one of the major reasons why people get 00:05:41.74\00:05:43.94 diabetes. And number 2 is, in India, we used 00:05:44.04\00:05:49.58 to have more of a vegetarian kind of 00:05:49.68\00:05:52.41 diet; but recently, people are changing 00:05:52.48\00:05:55.52 their diet and lifestyle and they're opting 00:05:55.58\00:05:58.02 more to meat-eating. Now, traditionally, we 00:05:58.12\00:06:02.06 were not like that. Usually, our people, 00:06:02.12\00:06:05.16 we used to have meat once in a while - like 00:06:05.23\00:06:09.23 when there is a festival or some special occasion. 00:06:09.26\00:06:13.13 But nowadays, it's not like that. People started 00:06:14.04\00:06:16.44 to eat more meat. Now, there are a lot of studies 00:06:16.50\00:06:19.47 that say that meat is a very important 00:06:19.54\00:06:23.14 cause for diabetes, because it blocks the 00:06:23.24\00:06:25.85 receptors where the insulin does its function. 00:06:25.91\00:06:30.35 - So when you eat meat, the receptors 00:06:30.92\00:06:32.59 where- you know, that will draw in the insulin, 00:06:32.65\00:06:35.09 it's pretty much cut off, shut down? Blocked? - Yeah. 00:06:35.16\00:06:38.19 And that's what we call as insulin resistance. So, 00:06:38.23\00:06:40.90 this is another very important reason why 00:06:40.96\00:06:42.80 people get diabetes. So, the refined food and then 00:06:42.86\00:06:47.87 the animal food (which is very high in saturated 00:06:47.94\00:06:49.90 fat), and the third thing is lack of exercise. 00:06:50.01\00:06:53.24 Generally, our people, they don't exercise 00:06:54.08\00:06:57.15 much. They don't have that health-seeking 00:06:57.21\00:06:59.75 behavior. So, these are the major reasons for 00:06:59.81\00:07:04.99 diabetes. Also, there are studies that have 00:07:05.09\00:07:08.02 come up, telling that coffee and tea increases 00:07:08.09\00:07:11.53 the insulin resistance, because caffeine is in 00:07:11.63\00:07:13.76 it. So, how people... - How does caffeine 00:07:13.83\00:07:16.70 do that? 'Cause I know there are some people... 00:07:16.77\00:07:18.63 Caffeine is such a common drink. It's 00:07:18.67\00:07:24.94 in Coke and Pepsi and Mountain Dew and a 00:07:24.97\00:07:28.28 lot of things that people- coffee. And for 00:07:28.38\00:07:31.75 some people, that's just a part of their diet. 00:07:31.85\00:07:34.95 They'll eat a sandwich and drink Dr Pepper. 00:07:35.05\00:07:37.65 How does caffeine affect the body's ability to draw 00:07:37.72\00:07:42.79 in what it needs? - Yeah. 1) It increases 00:07:42.89\00:07:46.80 the insulin resistance; it becomes very difficult 00:07:46.90\00:07:50.80 for the insulin to do its function. Maybe 00:07:50.87\00:07:55.70 let me explain like this. In a normal person, he 00:07:55.77\00:08:00.11 may need just one drop of insulin; but when people 00:08:00.18\00:08:04.88 have high insulin resistance, they may 00:08:04.91\00:08:06.95 need 5 drops of insulin. So, this condition comes 00:08:07.02\00:08:11.32 because of drinking coffee and tea, also. 00:08:11.45\00:08:14.16 It increases the insulin resistance-the insulin 00:08:14.22\00:08:17.23 receptor on the cell wall. So, when you 00:08:17.33\00:08:23.16 take more tea and coffee, the resistance increases, 00:08:23.23\00:08:25.77 which means one side- your body has to produce 00:08:25.83\00:08:29.27 more insulin to handle the situation. So, a 00:08:29.30\00:08:33.24 time comes where your body says, "I cannot 00:08:33.27\00:08:36.31 produce anymore insulin." - Then you have to take 00:08:36.38\00:08:39.78 the insulin shots or... - Or oral hypoglycemic 00:08:39.85\00:08:44.19 drugs to handle the situation. - So then, 00:08:44.25\00:08:47.49 it's not, in many cases, the diabetes that you're 00:08:47.56\00:08:50.06 talking of, because I know there are 00:08:50.13\00:08:51.46 different types of diabetes. - That's 00:08:51.49\00:08:52.83 right. - I'm not a doctor. - Type 1 and type 2. 00:08:52.86\00:08:56.46 - Which one is the more hereditary one? - The 00:08:56.53\00:08:59.53 hereditary one is a type 2, and that's 00:08:59.60\00:09:02.30 what we see commonly found in any kind of 00:09:02.37\00:09:05.57 population. Type 1 incidents are much 00:09:05.64\00:09:09.44 less. - Yeah, a more caused type of diabetes. 00:09:09.48\00:09:12.61 - True. - By lifestyle practice, refined foods, 00:09:12.65\00:09:15.68 meat, and lack of exercise. - That's 00:09:15.72\00:09:17.79 right. And tea, coffee... - And tea and coffee. 00:09:17.85\00:09:19.82 - And of course, smoking and alcohol also has an impact. 00:09:19.89\00:09:23.02 - So, when you eat a good meal: for example, 00:09:23.12\00:09:26.70 people sit down; they have a good meal. This is one side of the 00:10:03.47\00:10:06.13 story, but I like to tell you the other side of the 00:10:06.20\00:10:08.14 story. - Yes. - Now, generally, we as a 00:10:08.20\00:10:13.17 people, we have no knowledge and information what happens 00:10:13.24\00:10:18.11 to the food before it reaches our plate. 00:10:18.15\00:10:21.88 Yeah. So, most of the bread is made 00:10:42.44\00:10:45.41 with white flour, but people don't know how 00:10:45.47\00:10:47.88 you get white flour. White flour comes from 00:10:47.98\00:10:50.21 wheat. And how do they make white flour? They 00:10:50.28\00:10:53.62 have to use a chemical alloxan Now, 00:10:53.68\00:10:57.52 this alloxan chemical is so dangerous that it's 00:10:57.59\00:11:02.02 one of the causes for diabetes, and also it 00:11:02.12\00:11:05.29 is nephrotoxic in nature. So, when you 00:11:05.36\00:11:08.96 keep taking food that is made with white flour, 00:11:09.03\00:11:12.87 you have to face the consequences because 00:11:12.93\00:11:17.51 of the chemicals that are added in it. So, 00:11:17.61\00:11:20.44 there are so many things that happen to food 00:11:20.51\00:11:23.95 before it reaches the table. Now, I just told 00:11:24.05\00:11:27.85 you about how food is being processed. Now, 00:11:27.92\00:11:31.39 let's go a little further. Now, the method of farming, 00:11:31.45\00:11:36.83 agriculture practices... Today, there are so 00:11:36.93\00:11:41.40 many chemicals that are spread on our food. 00:11:41.46\00:11:43.97 These chemicals also have a great impact 00:11:44.00\00:11:46.63 on our body. So, we have not learned to 00:11:46.70\00:11:50.81 give much attention to all these things. But 00:11:50.87\00:11:53.61 that itself, if you see today, why we have 00:11:53.68\00:11:57.95 such high incidence of this disease, because 00:11:58.01\00:12:01.02 agriculture practices changed, the way we 00:12:01.08\00:12:05.59 process our food has changed because we 00:12:05.65\00:12:07.69 add a lot of chemicals, we refine it, and so 00:12:07.76\00:12:09.92 many things, and listen- until we understand these 00:12:09.96\00:12:13.53 things and make changes in these things, we cannot 00:12:13.56\00:12:18.03 enjoy good health. - Okay. So you have 00:12:18.10\00:12:20.30 to look at the entire chain of, "Where's my 00:12:20.40\00:12:22.64 food coming from? How is it processed? How 00:12:22.70\00:12:25.74 is it made?" What about... You know, there are 00:12:25.81\00:12:29.14 sometimes you'll buy bread in the store and 00:12:29.21\00:12:31.65 it'll say, "Enriched- wheat enriched." I've 00:12:31.71\00:12:37.39 looked at that before, and what, actually, that 00:12:37.49\00:12:40.16 means is, some cases, the wheat was bleached 00:12:40.19\00:12:47.26 and they put some wheat back into it. - Okay. 00:12:47.36\00:12:50.07 - But still, if you look at the whole process, 00:12:50.13\00:12:52.63 it's far from the way that it began. Am I 00:12:52.70\00:12:57.14 saying it correctly? - That's right. Yeah. 00:12:57.21\00:12:59.71 What I believe is, God has put a design, and 00:13:00.91\00:13:04.31 as much as possible, we should go by that 00:13:04.38\00:13:06.88 design. We may not understand all the 00:13:06.95\00:13:10.72 information or the knowledge in it, but 00:13:10.79\00:13:12.99 the best would be to go by the design God 00:13:13.05\00:13:16.73 has put in nature. But when you try to remove 00:13:16.79\00:13:19.69 certain things for certain reasons, 00:13:19.76\00:13:21.30 maybe taste or for the softness, and then you 00:13:21.36\00:13:23.87 want to add certain nutrients...I mean, 00:13:23.97\00:13:26.47 that's not the right way to move forward. 00:13:26.53\00:13:29.44 - Right. You're offsetting the balance and you're 00:13:29.50\00:13:30.84 trying to reset it. - Yeah. - For example, 00:13:30.91\00:13:33.71 what about refined foods like cakes and 00:13:33.78\00:13:37.45 pies? Does that have any part to play on? 00:13:37.58\00:13:41.28 - Certainly, certainly. Now, I 00:13:41.35\00:13:44.55 mean, that should've been first in my list; 00:13:44.62\00:13:46.35 thank you for reminding me about that. Yeah, 00:13:46.45\00:13:48.76 sugar is a big problem today. Now, generally, 00:13:48.79\00:13:52.59 when I go to restaurants, I like to watch certain 00:13:52.66\00:13:57.27 things. In India, if you see people, they 00:13:57.37\00:14:00.57 order a soft drink, and then they like to order 00:14:00.64\00:14:04.47 different kinds of meats, then they like to have 00:14:04.57\00:14:07.88 another juice or dessert (which has a lot of 00:14:07.98\00:14:11.25 sugar), and then, again, sweets... - Fermented. 00:14:11.31\00:14:15.85 - I mean, imagine how much sugar they're 00:14:15.92\00:14:17.89 loading in their bodies. Now, when you take a 00:14:17.95\00:14:22.32 lot of sugar, now, you're demanding your pancreas 00:14:22.42\00:14:25.76 to work more than it has to and can work 00:14:25.83\00:14:29.06 in a day - which means, over a period of time, 00:14:29.10\00:14:32.77 you're exhausting the resources of your body. 00:14:32.83\00:14:36.81 So, your pancreas says, "See, I have overworked 00:14:36.87\00:14:40.28 for you for the past 34 years, and now, 00:14:40.34\00:14:44.18 I cannot do as I have been working for you 00:14:44.28\00:14:47.22 in the past." - Hmm, never thought about 00:14:47.32\00:14:48.92 that. - And so, it says, "Okay. I'm giving 00:14:48.98\00:14:52.25 you diabetes now. At least now, you realize 00:14:52.35\00:14:54.79 that you have made me work more; and now, 00:14:54.86\00:14:57.66 try to give me a little break." It's basically 00:14:57.76\00:15:01.03 a reminder from the body telling that- you 00:15:01.06\00:15:02.80 know? - So when the pancreas stops working, 00:15:02.86\00:15:05.17 it's because you've overtaxed it? You've 00:15:05.23\00:15:07.80 demanded it to put out more than it naturally 00:15:07.87\00:15:10.74 should, and all of a sudden, it gets to the 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.94 place of exhaustion and it's worn out. - That's 00:15:13.01\00:15:15.64 right. - And then now, you have to start trying 00:15:15.71\00:15:17.21 to use supplemental drugs to take the place 00:15:17.28\00:15:20.02 of the natural function of the pancreas. - Yeah. 00:15:20.08\00:15:22.12 Now, drugs actually, they don't work like 00:15:22.18\00:15:26.02 supplements, basically. What they do is, when 00:15:26.09\00:15:29.99 a person is diagnosed as a diabetic, he has 00:15:30.03\00:15:33.80 only 50% of the pancreas functioning. - Wow. - So, 00:15:33.86\00:15:39.63 what we do is, when we give medications 00:15:40.70\00:15:43.94 of hypoglycemic drugs, we are basically telling 00:15:44.01\00:15:47.64 the pancreas, "You better work as how you were 00:15:47.71\00:15:50.25 working before." So, we are kind of pushing the 00:15:50.31\00:15:53.01 pancreas to work more. So, the pancreas says, 00:15:53.11\00:15:57.55 "Okay, I will do it." And as we give these 00:15:57.59\00:16:00.96 drugs, the 50% function comes to 40%, and 30%. 00:16:00.99\00:16:06.23 So basically, because we are making the 00:16:06.29\00:16:08.40 pancreas do double the work, it does; but a point 00:16:08.46\00:16:14.14 comes where we consider it beta cell apoptosis. 00:16:14.20\00:16:17.71 Beta cell is a cell that produces insulin in the 00:16:17.77\00:16:19.84 pancreas. And so, since we made this beta cell 00:16:19.87\00:16:24.15 to work more, they, again, get exhausted 00:16:24.21\00:16:27.22 and the percentage of beta cell comes down. 00:16:27.32\00:16:30.09 - Okay. - And then we say, "Okay, now, go 00:16:30.15\00:16:31.89 find insulin." - Okay, so I'm going to put it 00:16:31.95\00:16:33.76 in layman's term for those who are listening 00:16:33.86\00:16:35.29 to the program. You know, if you think of 00:16:35.39\00:16:37.36 an athlete who's in excellent shape and 00:16:37.43\00:16:40.73 you work him and work him and work him, and 00:16:40.80\00:16:42.80 he says, "I'm getting tired. You don't think about that very much. 00:17:17.50\00:17:19.63 You know, when you go to a restaurant, especially 00:17:19.70\00:17:21.50 in America or places in the world, we usually 00:17:21.60\00:17:24.07 tend to eat based on what we like to taste. 00:17:24.14\00:17:26.44 - That's right. - And they always say, "Do 00:17:26.51\00:17:28.84 you have room for dessert?" So then, 00:17:28.88\00:17:33.68 that leads, now, from diabetes, then does it 00:17:33.75\00:17:36.28 now lead to... Let's bring hypertension 00:17:36.38\00:17:38.82 into the picture now. - Okay. See, hypertension, 00:17:38.89\00:17:43.12 again, is becoming a very serious problem 00:17:43.19\00:17:45.59 these days. There are various reasons for 00:17:45.66\00:17:49.30 hypertension. Now, one of the major causes for 00:17:49.36\00:17:51.83 hypertension also is the exaggerated fat, 00:17:51.93\00:17:56.07 animal food, and tea and coffee, the refined 00:17:56.17\00:17:59.87 food... Now, that's what 00:28:14.26\00:28:17.09 He did to the Israelites. He said, "Okay." When 00:28:17.16\00:28:20.10 He was bringing the Israelites out of Egypt, 00:28:20.16\00:28:22.30 the first education He gives is, "Let me change 00:28:23.13\00:28:25.93 your diet." Now, He had to change their taste 00:28:26.03\00:28:28.90 buds, so He gave them manna. So then I 00:30:36.67\00:30:38.70 learned what's in the mind of Christ. Then 00:30:38.77\00:30:41.64 even if you see in Ezekiel 18:32, it 00:30:41.70\00:30:46.27 says God says, "I have no pleasure in him that 00:30:46.34\00:30:50.38 dieth."
