00:01 Oh, I'm so excited about this book.
00:03 You can get "The Sonship of Christ," 00:06 By Ty Gibson, just go to TyGibson.com, 00:11 LightBearers.org, Amazon, 00:13 but I highly recommend this book. 00:15 And as a matter of fact, 00:17 I think it will become a book 00:18 that seminaries use to teach this topic. 00:22 Ty, give us, in just a couple of minutes... 00:25 Okay, okay. 00:26 And I'll give you a minute and half. 00:27 A minute and a half. Okay. 00:29 Give us kind of a summary. 00:30 Okay, so one of the concepts in the book 00:32 and in this study and one of the chapters 00:34 in particular, I love this language, 00:36 is called the grand reenactment. 00:40 And basically, Shelley, 00:41 the idea is that the Old Testament 00:45 is a historical unit, 00:47 it's a story that's being told... 00:48 Yes 00:49 That moves from Adam to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, 00:53 Israel, King David, all of those, 00:57 that's the lineage of covenant and promise 01:01 through which Messiah is going to come. 01:03 The Old Testament is a story. 01:05 When you come to the New Testament, 01:07 you open it, the first thing you read, 01:08 Shelley, in Matthew is the genealogy... 01:11 This is the first verse of the New Testament. 01:13 The genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of Abraham, 01:16 the son of David, 01:18 and then the story unfolds in the New Testament. 01:21 And then as you read the New Testament, 01:23 it is in fact, 01:24 Jesus is going over 01:27 the same ground that Adam went over 01:29 but successfully burying the image of God 01:32 without forfeiting it. 01:33 Amen. 01:35 Jesus is going over the same ground 01:36 that Israel went over, 01:37 but Israel in their story 01:39 was called to covenant faithfulness 01:42 but continued to be unfaithful to the covenant promise. 01:46 Jesus comes and He is the new Israel, 01:48 He is the new David, He is the new Adam, 01:50 He is the one in whom, to quote the Apostle Paul, 01:55 and this is so crucial in the New Testament here, 01:58 in 2 Corinthians 1:20, 02:02 "For all the promises of God are in Him..." 02:06 that's in Christ. 02:07 "Yes, and Amen, to the glory of God through us." 02:12 You know, Ty, that is one of my favorite promises 02:16 that we know that everything that God has said in the Old 02:20 and the New Testament and it's not... 02:22 When you think of the promise of God, 02:24 even His commandments are promises, 02:27 and they all find a yes answer in Christ Jesus. 02:31 You can claim them. 02:33 Well, our prayer for you... 02:34 Thank you for being here. 02:36 But our prayer for you is that the grace 02:37 of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 02:39 the love of the Father as the fellowship 02:41 of the Holy Spirit will be with you always. |
