I want to spend my life 00:00:01.66\00:00:07.14 Mending broken people 00:00:07.70\00:00:12.44 I want to spend my life 00:00:12.71\00:00:18.15 Removing pain 00:00:18.61\00:00:23.28 Lord, let my words 00:00:24.02\00:00:28.99 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:30.23\00:00:34.06 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.76\00:00:39.70 Mending broken people 00:00:40.47\00:00:45.27 I want to spend my life 00:00:45.67\00:00:50.98 Mending broken people 00:00:51.51\00:00:56.05 - Hello and welcome to another 3ABN Today 00:01:09.46\00:01:11.53 program. We are so thankful that you have 00:01:11.63\00:01:13.60 joined us today! Thank you for letting us 00:01:13.67\00:01:15.90 come into your home as you do each and every 00:01:15.97\00:01:17.87 day; maybe you're listening on the radio. 00:01:17.97\00:01:19.87 Thank you for tuning in! Television, internet... 00:01:19.94\00:01:22.34 So many ways that 3ABN can be- even the app. 00:01:22.44\00:01:24.98 Don't wanna to forget that, YouTube... Many 00:01:25.05\00:01:27.08 different ways that you can access 3ABN; but we 00:01:27.18\00:01:29.22 just want to say thank you for your financial 00:01:29.32\00:01:30.69 support of this ministry and other ministries 00:01:30.75\00:01:33.39 that we bring before you on a daily basis. 00:01:33.46\00:01:36.09 Today's going to be a fun day. You maybe saw 00:01:36.19\00:01:38.76 in the wide shot (which is our jib shot, that moving 00:01:38.83\00:01:40.90 shot as we come right out of the open). You 00:01:40.96\00:01:42.76 saw some pictures and stuff here, a distinguished 00:01:42.86\00:01:44.90 group of men to my right... This is going 00:01:44.97\00:01:48.47 to be a blessing, because again, today, we have 00:01:48.54\00:01:50.34 the opportunity of participating with an 00:01:50.41\00:01:52.24 amazing missionary project. I think what's 00:01:52.31\00:01:56.75 really exciting is that, here at 3ABN, as we 00:01:56.81\00:02:00.05 present stuff to you at home, that you get 00:02:00.12\00:02:02.65 excited about mission and the vision that 00:02:02.72\00:02:06.49 God has placed upon one of us the burden 00:02:06.59\00:02:08.99 to spread His Word to others. Sometimes, I 00:02:09.06\00:02:11.93 guess maybe I should say we should ALL have 00:02:12.03\00:02:13.36 the burden-maybe we don't-but we need to 00:02:13.40\00:02:14.73 pray that the Holy Spirit gives us that 00:02:14.76\00:02:17.00 burden to spread the gospel around the 00:02:17.03\00:02:19.47 world. I like the song that is our theme song. 00:02:19.50\00:02:23.41 As the open is playing, "I want to spend my life 00:02:23.44\00:02:25.91 mending broken people," and that should be all 00:02:25.97\00:02:28.41 of our vision to do that. So, today, we're going 00:02:28.44\00:02:31.15 to find out ways we can. - That's right. 00:02:31.18\00:02:32.98 3ABN has long enjoyed a partnership with ASI; 00:02:33.01\00:02:36.79 that's Adventist-laymen's Services & Industries. 00:02:36.82\00:02:39.79 They have a passion, laypeople, business 00:02:39.85\00:02:42.59 people, connecting with the church, joining hands 00:02:42.62\00:02:44.89 with the church to share the gospel in 00:02:44.93\00:02:47.76 the marketplace. We have broadcast the ASI 00:02:47.80\00:02:51.27 conventions for many years; I don't even know 00:02:51.30\00:02:53.74 how many years. Over 20-would you say that's 00:02:53.77\00:02:56.14 accurate? 25? Many years. It's been a 00:02:56.17\00:02:58.94 wonderful partnership. And today, we have 00:02:58.97\00:03:00.88 some of the ASI leadership with us here in the 00:03:00.91\00:03:03.95 studio with a wonderful, new way that we can 00:03:03.98\00:03:07.62 connect financially, prayerfully, or even 00:03:07.65\00:03:10.65 travel and share the gospel around the 00:03:10.69\00:03:14.49 world. So, we have the president of ASI North 00:03:14.52\00:03:17.39 American Division, Steve Dickman. We're 00:03:17.43\00:03:19.53 so glad to have you here, Steve. - It's 00:03:19.59\00:03:21.63 good to be here with you this morning. Praise 00:03:21.66\00:03:24.33 God. - You've been ASI president of North 00:03:24.37\00:03:26.43 American Division for how many years now? 00:03:26.47\00:03:29.57 - Well, it'll be four years in August. - And 00:03:29.60\00:03:31.91 you and your wife, Brenda, are a powerful 00:03:31.94\00:03:34.28 team for the gospel, and I know you have 00:03:34.31\00:03:36.64 other roles beside ASI, so tell us what else 00:03:36.68\00:03:38.95 you're involved in. - Well, I'm serving as the president 00:03:39.01\00:03:41.98 for Harbert Hills Academy in Savannah, Tennessee. 00:03:42.02\00:03:44.09 We have a school there, and we believe that 00:03:44.12\00:03:47.42 God's plan of education is wonderful and we try 00:03:47.46\00:03:50.46 to follow that plan of holistic education: the 00:03:50.53\00:03:53.63 academic, the physical, vocational aspects of 00:03:53.66\00:03:56.77 education, the spiritual mission aspects of 00:03:56.80\00:03:59.00 education and put all that together in a 00:03:59.03\00:04:01.00 package for God's work. - You've been there a 00:04:01.04\00:04:03.91 number of years, haven't you? -27 years now. 00:04:03.94\00:04:06.88 - Wow! - Adds up after a while. [laughter] 00:04:06.91\00:04:10.11 - Education is powerful because you're making 00:04:10.15\00:04:13.28 an impact on young people's lives, and 00:04:13.31\00:04:14.72 then they, in turn, make the ripple grow... 00:04:14.75\00:04:16.58 - That's right. - ...as they make an impact. 00:04:16.62\00:04:18.85 - That's exactly right. - Amen. And sitting 00:04:18.89\00:04:21.32 next to you is Pastor Philip Baptiste and- 00:04:21.36\00:04:23.49 I hope I pronounced your last name right- 00:04:23.53\00:04:25.73 you're the secretary treasurer for ASI North 00:04:25.76\00:04:27.73 American Division, and it's a privilege to have 00:04:27.76\00:04:30.63 you here, as well. - It's a privilege to be here! 00:04:30.67\00:04:33.50 I'm excited about what ASI is doing and being 00:04:33.54\00:04:35.77 a part of this awesome opportunity to engage 00:04:35.80\00:04:38.07 in sharing Christ in the marketplace. - Amen. 00:04:38.14\00:04:40.51 Now, I know you're fairly new in your role there 00:04:40.54\00:04:42.71 at ASI with secretary treasurer, 'cause I met 00:04:42.74\00:04:45.51 him just this last ASI. You're passionate about 00:04:45.55\00:04:48.38 what God has called you to do there. Have you 00:04:48.42\00:04:50.79 been involved with ASI a long time and then 00:04:50.82\00:04:53.09 just transitioned into leadership, or...? - Yes! 00:04:53.12\00:04:55.69 Yes. I was serving- my wife and I were General 00:04:55.72\00:04:57.96 Conference missionaries in the East-Central Africa 00:04:57.99\00:05:00.20 Division in Nairobi, Kenya for four years, 00:05:00.23\00:05:02.66 and in that role, I was asked to serve as the 00:05:02.70\00:05:05.37 secretary treasurer for ASI for that division. 00:05:05.40\00:05:08.34 Steve Dickman and Kyle Allen came, and they 00:05:08.37\00:05:11.24 helped us launch ASI in Africa in that part 00:05:11.27\00:05:14.48 of the world. So because of my work with ASI in 00:05:14.51\00:05:17.55 the East-Central Africa Division, I was called 00:05:17.58\00:05:20.52 to work here in North America. I'm excited 00:05:20.55\00:05:23.18 to be working with Steve and this dynamic team 00:05:23.22\00:05:26.29 here in the NAD. - Amen! - And you're also the 00:05:26.32\00:05:28.99 pastor...or you have that title as pastor, 00:05:29.02\00:05:31.23 so you've pastored, whether or not- I don't 00:05:31.29\00:05:33.43 know if you're doing it now. - Not doing it now; 00:05:33.46\00:05:35.66 full-time as departmental director of North American 00:05:35.70\00:05:37.87 Division and secretary treasurer of ASI, but 00:05:37.90\00:05:40.04 I've been a pastor for over 20 years in the 00:05:40.07\00:05:42.04 Adventist church. I'm originally from Canada, 00:05:42.07\00:05:44.21 and my dad's been a pastor for 40 years in 00:05:44.24\00:05:46.68 the Adventist church. Just what a joy it is 00:05:46.74\00:05:49.11 to be in God's service. - Yes. I agree. - Absolutely. 00:05:49.14\00:05:52.45 And sitting next to you is Rodney Bowes. You are 00:05:52.48\00:05:55.08 the vice president for logistics of the ASI 00:05:55.12\00:05:59.35 North American Division. Tell us how long you've 00:05:59.39\00:06:02.32 been involved with ASI. - Well, I've been involved 00:06:02.39\00:06:05.29 very recently in that particular position, 00:06:05.33\00:06:08.20 actually...just a little over a month, but I've 00:06:08.23\00:06:11.40 been involved in ASI in the Light Ministry 00:06:11.43\00:06:14.97 since 2008. Before that, I was at Wildwood Lifestyle 00:06:15.00\00:06:20.61 Center & Hospital. So, I've been involved 00:06:20.64\00:06:23.41 in ASI activities for quite a while. - Amen. 00:06:23.45\00:06:26.15 And we appreciate Light Ministry and what they do. 00:06:26.18\00:06:28.65 You coordinate with Light Ministry; you 00:06:28.68\00:06:30.59 still work for them, right? - Yeah, I'm the 00:06:30.65\00:06:33.39 divisional director for Africa and East Asia 00:06:33.42\00:06:36.12 for Light, and then I also serve as the president 00:06:36.16\00:06:40.10 for Health Expo Resources. - Wow. - So, I wanted 00:06:40.13\00:06:44.07 to just ask because, I mean... See, we have 00:06:44.10\00:06:45.77 president-I think we kind of understand that 00:06:45.83\00:06:47.44 role-secretary treasurer, but logistics. What does 00:06:47.47\00:06:49.77 that mean? What is your role for ASI on logistics? 00:06:49.80\00:06:52.24 - I'm still finding out all of the things that 00:06:52.27\00:06:54.34 I'm going to be doing, but... - Making logical 00:06:54.38\00:06:57.35 decisions. [laughter] - Making sure everything 00:06:57.38\00:07:00.12 is planned well for the convention and that 00:07:00.15\00:07:02.88 when we get there, there's meals and 00:07:02.92\00:07:07.19 there's all the technical details of a convention 00:07:07.22\00:07:10.73 like that or taking care of it. It's a huge 00:07:10.76\00:07:12.79 responsibility. - Oh, it is. Yeah, a lot of 00:07:12.83\00:07:14.76 moving parts and pieces always to come together. 00:07:14.80\00:07:16.97 Thank you, gentlemen, I tell you, I appreciate 00:07:17.00\00:07:19.77 what ASI means to 3ABN, and I know to the 00:07:19.80\00:07:22.50 world. I know you have a scripture you want to 00:07:22.54\00:07:24.31 go to, but you were just talking about the 00:07:24.34\00:07:26.01 description of what ASI is. It's basically people 00:07:26.07\00:07:28.58 in the marketplace. Maybe give us a synopsis 00:07:28.61\00:07:30.51 of what that means, because some people 00:07:30.55\00:07:32.48 may be tuning in, they haven't watched an ASI 00:07:32.51\00:07:34.72 program that 3ABN's aired the first time, 00:07:34.78\00:07:37.25 they're like, "ASI?" Marketplace. What does 00:07:37.29\00:07:40.12 that mean? - ASI stands for Adventist-layman's 00:07:40.16\00:07:43.02 Services & Industries. So, it's laypeople who 00:07:43.06\00:07:45.89 come together to accomplish mission for 00:07:45.93\00:07:49.20 the church. - Laypeople, meaning? - Laypeople- 00:07:49.23\00:07:51.97 they're not paid by the church, so there's a 00:07:52.00\00:07:55.17 distinction. We call it the Adventist yearbook 00:07:55.20\00:07:58.61 where an organization is owned and operated 00:07:58.64\00:08:01.94 by the church. If people are in that yearbook 00:08:01.98\00:08:04.51 or their organization they work for is in 00:08:04.55\00:08:07.15 that yearbook, they don't qualify for being 00:08:07.22\00:08:10.19 ASI members. However, 3ABN is not in that 00:08:10.22\00:08:13.15 yearbook; they have a separate board of 00:08:13.19\00:08:15.96 directors, operated separately from the 00:08:15.99\00:08:18.59 organization of the church but in support 00:08:18.63\00:08:20.80 of the work of the church. - Oh, we support 00:08:20.83\00:08:23.60 it 100%. - And so that is the unique key to 00:08:23.63\00:08:26.57 being an ASI member is that you are supporting 00:08:26.60\00:08:29.37 the work of the church but not necessarily 00:08:29.40\00:08:32.14 owned or paid by the church. So, the church 00:08:32.17\00:08:34.81 needs that. You know, the resources are limited; 00:08:34.84\00:08:37.81 there's not enough pastors to finish the 00:08:37.85\00:08:40.28 work. We love Philip and Rodney; pastors 00:08:40.32\00:08:42.65 are with us, but there's not enough of them to 00:08:42.68\00:08:45.39 just go out and finish the work. This is going 00:08:45.42\00:08:47.76 to require the engagement of the laypeople. ASI- 00:08:47.79\00:08:50.09 our vision is that if we could engage every 00:08:50.13\00:08:55.56 single layperson that is a business or 00:08:55.60\00:08:58.97 professional person, 100% behind the mission 00:08:59.00\00:09:02.87 of the church, we believe the wheels would turn 00:09:02.90\00:09:06.71 quickly and this job of getting the gospel to the world 00:09:06.74\00:09:09.64 can be finished and we can go home to 00:09:09.68\00:09:11.95 heaven. - Amen. - And I like that, sharing 00:09:12.01\00:09:13.65 Jesus in the marketplace, because that's what 00:09:13.68\00:09:15.65 your every sphere of influence is. I think 00:09:15.68\00:09:17.59 it's a wonderful mission and vision of ASI. - It's 00:09:17.62\00:09:19.69 really an idea of total member involvement of 00:09:19.72\00:09:22.26 every single member getting actively involved 00:09:22.29\00:09:24.56 in the life and mission of the church and 00:09:24.59\00:09:27.20 saying, "Wherever you are, whatever station 00:09:27.23\00:09:29.70 you are in life, God has a work for you to 00:09:29.73\00:09:32.13 do." - That's excellent. - So, that's the mission 00:09:32.17\00:09:33.74 of ASI. - Praise the Lord. - Amen! - Excellent. 00:09:33.77\00:09:36.30 - Well, there's a scripture here. We're 00:09:36.37\00:09:39.34 going to read Romans 10 verses 14 and 15. 00:09:39.37\00:09:42.31 I think this is one of my favorite scriptures. 00:09:42.34\00:09:44.35 Romans is one of my favorite books, but I 00:09:44.38\00:09:46.72 love this scripture. Romans 10:14 and 15. 00:09:46.78\00:09:49.55 "How then shall they call on Him in Whom 00:09:49.58\00:09:52.19 they have not believed? And how shall they 00:09:52.22\00:09:54.69 believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? 00:09:54.72\00:09:57.36 And how shall they hear without a preacher? 00:09:57.39\00:10:00.20 And how shall they preach unless they are 00:10:00.23\00:10:03.57 sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the 00:10:03.60\00:10:06.80 feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, 00:10:06.84\00:10:10.01 who bring glad tidings of good things." And 00:10:10.04\00:10:13.17 that's what we're talking about here 00:10:13.21\00:10:14.71 today is preaching the gospel of peace, sharing 00:10:14.74\00:10:18.08 the everlasting gospel in fresh and innovative 00:10:18.11\00:10:21.42 ways. So, tell us about the New Beginnings 00:10:21.45\00:10:26.42 picture roll. - So, this project was born 00:10:26.45\00:10:30.83 out of need. In Rwanda, they were holding a 00:10:30.86\00:10:34.46 series of thousands of meetings all across the 00:10:34.50\00:10:38.83 country of Rwanda. Many of those sites, they 00:10:38.87\00:10:42.67 ended up in remote areas without electricity. 00:10:42.70\00:10:46.47 Philip, you were there in East-Central Africa 00:10:46.54\00:10:49.04 at that time. What was your experience in 00:10:49.08\00:10:51.28 watching that happen and some of the needs 00:10:51.31\00:10:53.28 that evolved out of that? - Well, Steve, 00:10:53.31\00:10:55.95 even in Rwanda, we baptized over 100,000 00:10:55.98\00:10:58.52 people in Rwanda, and we were there preaching. 00:10:58.55\00:11:00.89 Our world church president was there, Ted Wilson 00:11:00.92\00:11:03.49 and Nancy Wilson. Nancy Wilson was in one those 00:11:03.53\00:11:06.06 sites; she was on a hill. And she ended 00:11:06.09\00:11:08.93 up baptizing a thousand people in her series of 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.00 meetings - her first time preaching, which 00:11:12.03\00:11:14.14 shows that laypeople can do the work. But 00:11:14.17\00:11:17.17 she had PowerPoint and a video projector 00:11:17.21\00:11:19.81 that was supposed to work, and the power 00:11:19.84\00:11:22.38 just went out. It never worked. So, she ended 00:11:22.44\00:11:25.78 up having to preach from script in the 00:11:25.81\00:11:27.88 dark. And so, the idea for this picture roll 00:11:27.92\00:11:30.49 project was born from situations like that. 00:11:30.52\00:11:32.72 There were many more people where there was 00:11:32.75\00:11:34.79 supposed to be electricity and there wasn't 00:11:34.82\00:11:36.83 electricity. As a missionary in Africa 00:11:36.89\00:11:39.19 for over four years, I can tell you the 00:11:39.26\00:11:41.50 electricity doesn't work many of the times, so... 00:11:41.53\00:11:44.37 - So it's not very stable there. - It's not very 00:11:44.43\00:11:46.77 stable, and so having something that you can 00:11:46.80\00:11:49.00 just- that's waterproof, that's rainproof, that 00:11:49.04\00:11:51.77 you can just roll and stand on a hill or be 00:11:51.81\00:11:54.88 under a mango tree and show people the good 00:11:54.91\00:11:57.71 news of the Adventist message. It's powerful. 00:11:57.75\00:12:00.18 That's where the idea for the tool came from. 00:12:00.22\00:12:02.58 - You know, it's interesting, because 00:12:02.62\00:12:03.95 this day and age, we're so used to our electronic 00:12:03.99\00:12:05.45 gadgets. I have my phone tucked right by my 00:12:05.49\00:12:07.62 side, but even in other parts of the world, 00:12:07.66\00:12:10.13 a projector you said, computer, and I guess 00:12:10.16\00:12:12.56 a generator must've been used in some 00:12:12.59\00:12:14.66 places; but if stuff's not reliable and you're 00:12:14.70\00:12:17.03 relying on it, makes it difficult. So going 00:12:17.07\00:12:18.93 to these picture rolls is a brilliant idea. 00:12:18.97\00:12:20.80 - So what happened was, when we heard that 00:12:21.07\00:12:24.91 story of hundreds of sites where there was 00:12:24.94\00:12:27.98 no electricity, and the only tool they had 00:12:28.01\00:12:31.51 was to read the script, Rodney and I and Chuck 00:12:31.55\00:12:34.58 Cleveland were sitting around a table in... 00:12:34.62\00:12:38.25 We were just talking about this thing. You 00:12:38.29\00:12:41.42 know, "What can we do? How can we do something 00:12:41.46\00:12:44.49 for this?" And the idea was born. The old picture 00:12:44.53\00:12:47.50 rolls for Sabbath school... - Of course! - We said, 00:12:47.53\00:12:49.90 "What if we did an evangelism picture 00:12:49.93\00:12:51.40 roll where it was focused on doing just what needed 00:12:51.43\00:12:55.20 to be presented for the evangelistic standpoint, 00:12:55.24\00:12:58.97 the Bible lectures and give some graphic 00:12:59.01\00:13:01.44 support to this?" We came up, we said, "Well, 00:13:01.51\00:13:04.15 let's move forward with this and think about it." 00:13:04.18\00:13:06.82 The project kind of evolved from that. 00:13:06.85\00:13:09.05 - Amen. So, can we back up for one moment? I 00:13:09.08\00:13:11.92 was thinking I jumped the gun with the picture 00:13:11.95\00:13:14.72 roll, because some people might be saying, 00:13:14.76\00:13:16.86 "I'm not even familiar with the New Beginnings 00:13:16.89\00:13:18.93 DVD project," and the script that you're 00:13:18.96\00:13:21.30 talking about the people are reading from. So, 00:13:21.33\00:13:24.10 the DVD project... How many years has that 00:13:24.13\00:13:26.30 been around? - It's been around for 20 00:13:26.33\00:13:28.40 years. New Beginnings is like ASI's evangelism 00:13:28.44\00:13:31.74 in a box. It's 26 sermons; Mark Finley wrote the 00:13:31.77\00:13:35.01 sermons, and they're designed to help a 00:13:35.04\00:13:37.01 layperson or a church member, a young person- 00:13:37.05\00:13:40.15 we had a 12-year-old in Rwanda, just read 00:13:40.18\00:13:43.22 the script and preach the message in a beautiful 00:13:43.25\00:13:47.19 way. So, the New Beginnings evangelistic series was 00:13:47.26\00:13:51.16 the tool that we took and adapted it and 00:13:51.19\00:13:54.63 created those sermons into picture rolls so 00:13:54.66\00:13:58.07 that people can preach those. - Okay. Perfect. 00:13:58.10\00:14:00.60 - And that series has been translated into 00:14:00.64\00:14:03.87 34 languages or so and is available for our 00:14:03.91\00:14:07.18 lay members to get on the ASI website. They 00:14:07.21\00:14:10.41 can just go to New Beginnings. - ASIMinistries.org/NewBeginnings, 00:14:10.45\00:14:14.35 and it's right there to download in any language. 00:14:14.38\00:14:16.35 - Say that one more time, 'cause someone 00:14:16.38\00:14:18.09 said, "Oh! Let me get my pen and paper!" and 00:14:18.15\00:14:19.65 then they missed it. - It's available at 00:14:19.72\00:14:21.19 ASIMinistries.org/NewBeginnings. - So that DVD series 00:14:21.46\00:14:30.87 is still available is what you're saying. 00:14:30.90\00:14:32.77 - Yes. - It is still available. We hesitate 00:14:32.80\00:14:34.60 to call it DVD anymore because it's all cloud-based, 00:14:34.64\00:14:37.71 and they can go and download it from anywhere 00:14:37.77\00:14:40.61 in the world. It's all available on PowerPoint, 00:14:40.64\00:14:44.05 PDF, whatever format they need, and it gives 00:14:44.08\00:14:47.02 them the full script as well as the full 00:14:47.05\00:14:50.75 graphic support - 115, 125 slides or graphic 00:14:50.79\00:14:54.46 images per sermon. It works wonderfully 00:14:54.49\00:14:59.39 where you can plug in, have electricity, and 00:14:59.43\00:15:01.43 that kind of thing. - Okay. - So, in this 00:15:01.46\00:15:03.77 case, you're taking the same script, the same 00:15:03.80\00:15:06.07 sermons, but you're changing it with the 00:15:06.10\00:15:08.84 artwork with the pictures so that it can be done 00:15:08.87\00:15:11.94 where there's no electricity. - So, in reality, what 00:15:11.97\00:15:15.01 happened is we also- we went through the 00:15:15.04\00:15:17.98 scripts and we refined those for a setting that 00:15:18.01\00:15:23.85 is not first-world setting. So in other 00:15:23.89\00:15:26.59 words, we shortened them somewhat and put 00:15:26.62\00:15:28.96 them into a format that's more easily 00:15:28.99\00:15:31.29 presented in a remote setting. - Amen. - As 00:15:31.33\00:15:34.83 we were working on this project, it came to our 00:15:34.86\00:15:38.33 attention that there might be some that 00:15:38.37\00:15:41.27 would like additional biblical support, so 00:15:41.30\00:15:44.14 at the end of each of the scripts, we added 00:15:44.21\00:15:46.81 all of the verses of scripture that would 00:15:46.84\00:15:49.38 be associated with that topic, and then 00:15:49.44\00:15:51.78 we put together a series of questions 00:15:51.81\00:15:53.95 that would be like small group discussion 00:15:53.98\00:15:56.05 questions so that someone presenting this to a 00:15:56.08\00:15:59.55 group of 40 or 50 people could say, "What did 00:15:59.59\00:16:03.06 you learn today about this topic?" and give 00:16:03.09\00:16:06.06 them time to discuss it, because you're in 00:16:06.09\00:16:08.96 a smaller group setting, generally speaking, and 00:16:09.00\00:16:11.97 we felt that that discussion was just part of the 00:16:12.00\00:16:14.94 learning process that needed to take place. 00:16:14.97\00:16:18.21 - Yeah. Fantastic, and I think we have a video. 00:16:18.24\00:16:20.84 Maybe we should go to that now and talk some 00:16:20.88\00:16:22.64 more. - Yeah, let's do that! - Okay, all right. 00:16:22.68\00:16:24.08 We'll go to the video that talks more about 00:16:24.11\00:16:25.48 the picture roll project. 00:16:25.51\00:16:26.85 - In our busy world, we often take for 00:16:28.22\00:16:30.35 granted that we have access to so much 00:16:30.39\00:16:32.45 information right at our fingertips through our 00:16:32.65\00:16:34.82 smartphones and other devices. We don't 00:16:34.86\00:16:36.89 realize that there are still over 1 billion 00:16:39.53\00:16:41.66 people alive on Earth today who have no 00:16:41.70\00:16:43.77 regular access to electricity, much less 00:16:43.80\00:16:45.13 modern technology. The New Beginnings picture 00:16:45.17\00:16:47.70 roll project was created just for them. 00:16:47.74\00:16:50.24 26 Christ-centered evangelistic presentations, 00:16:50.27\00:16:53.94 crafted into 7 beautiful pictures for each message 00:16:53.98\00:16:57.41 together with scripts, small group Bible study 00:16:57.45\00:17:00.68 guides, plus one additional image for each sermon, 00:17:00.72\00:17:03.92 focusing on a health topic. 00:17:03.99\00:17:05.32 Over 100,000 evangelistic meetings have been 00:17:15.73\00:17:19.23 held using the New Beginnings materials 00:17:19.30\00:17:21.60 all over the world, and our opportunity to 00:17:21.64\00:17:24.21 bring the gospel to the Third World is greatly 00:17:24.24\00:17:27.21 enhanced by bringing pictures to them. - This 00:17:27.24\00:17:30.15 is Kajiado district or county, and this 00:17:30.18\00:17:33.65 area is Maasai land. Now, the Maasais are 00:17:33.68\00:17:37.05 not prone to reading or even listening to 00:17:37.09\00:17:40.06 the radio; they are people who move from 00:17:40.09\00:17:43.09 place to place, seeking for pastures for the 00:17:43.12\00:17:46.09 animals; but I think Maasais would be 00:17:46.13\00:17:49.40 greatly magnetized by the picture rolls. - It 00:17:49.43\00:17:53.13 is awesome when you use a picture roll in a movie center 00:17:53.17\00:17:59.07 to explain biblical truth. Imagine, for 00:17:59.11\00:18:02.58 somebody who has never seen and imagined how 00:18:02.61\00:18:06.01 Jesus would come, and then he sees for the 00:18:06.05\00:18:10.09 first time that picture of Christ descending 00:18:10.15\00:18:13.76 with angels surrounding his throne, and the 00:18:13.79\00:18:17.09 people looking up towards that. Oh, it's just 00:18:17.13\00:18:20.63 an awesome revelation- so convicting. It sends 00:18:20.66\00:18:24.10 the message powerfully into the mind of the listener. 00:18:24.13\00:18:27.67 We really believe that by the time a person finishes 00:18:42.65\00:18:45.52 this series, not just the 00:18:45.55\00:18:48.56 spiritual material, but the health material will 00:18:48.62\00:18:51.96 give them the ability to live a healthful and a 00:18:51.99\00:18:55.30 long life. - Our objective, of course, 00:18:55.33\00:18:57.97 is to provide a tool for full-message evangelism 00:18:58.03\00:19:02.10 in the remote corners of the world. And in 00:19:02.14\00:19:04.91 doing this, we've pictured an audience 00:19:04.97\00:19:07.58 that includes a lot of people who have had 00:19:07.61\00:19:10.35 little or no exposure to the Bible or to 00:19:10.38\00:19:12.91 Christianity of any kind. - Often, our 00:19:12.95\00:19:15.18 teams are sharing the gospel and health 00:19:15.22\00:19:17.79 messages in jungles and villages around 00:19:17.82\00:19:20.42 the world. Many times, when we're telling a 00:19:20.46\00:19:23.12 story, we wish we had a picture. These picture 00:19:23.16\00:19:25.76 rolls are just what we need. - There's 00:19:25.79\00:19:28.83 nothing more important to God than the salvation 00:19:28.86\00:19:31.77 of men and women. That's why God used every way 00:19:31.83\00:19:34.87 possible, every means available to save them. 00:19:34.90\00:19:38.21 I am so excited about the picture roll project, 00:19:38.24\00:19:41.18 because it gives us a tool - it gives us an 00:19:41.21\00:19:44.01 opportunity for God to work. Think about it. 00:19:44.05\00:19:46.78 God is going to use this project to win 00:19:46.82\00:19:50.02 tens and thousands for His kingdom. - It's been 00:19:50.05\00:19:52.95 inspiring to see all these beautiful works 00:19:52.99\00:19:56.52 of art produced by some of the best Christian 00:19:56.56\00:20:00.33 artists on this planet to become part of this 00:20:00.36\00:20:03.87 picture roll. - I think what motivates me as 00:20:03.90\00:20:07.37 an artist to do the type of art I do is 00:20:07.40\00:20:09.50 the awareness that a painting can have a 00:20:09.54\00:20:11.57 profound impact on people who see them. 00:20:11.61\00:20:13.58 Evangelists have often used art and images to 00:20:13.61\00:20:16.95 help convey the message of sharing the gospel. 00:20:16.98\00:20:20.25 To me, a painting can be a very profound tool 00:20:20.28\00:20:23.32 of evangelism. We have the opportunity to give 00:20:23.35\00:20:26.45 people positive pictures- pictures of hope, of 00:20:26.49\00:20:29.52 truth, and if possible, a picture of God. 00:20:29.59\00:20:33.50 When I first held these picture rolls in 00:20:45.07\00:20:48.01 my hands, I was grateful to God for the fact that 00:20:48.04\00:20:51.31 ASI is doing this. These picture rolls are 00:20:51.35\00:20:54.62 durable, they are very descriptive, and I know 00:20:54.65\00:20:57.89 God will use them to advance His kingdom. 00:20:57.92\00:21:01.69 With over 120,000 series of meetings this 00:21:01.72\00:21:04.96 year, this tool is invaluable in putting 00:21:04.99\00:21:08.13 it in the hands of the laypeople to help them 00:21:08.16\00:21:10.93 with evangelism. Many of those sites do not 00:21:10.97\00:21:14.17 have access to electricity. They need a way to 00:21:14.20\00:21:17.37 share the gospel, and to share it through 00:21:17.41\00:21:19.57 pictures is an ideal way to help people 00:21:19.64\00:21:21.74 understand more about the sacrifice that has 00:21:21.78\00:21:24.88 been made on their behalf. - In our Christian 00:21:24.91\00:21:28.62 experience, the Word of God is so vital to 00:21:28.68\00:21:31.95 all that we experience with our Lord Jesus 00:21:31.99\00:21:34.86 Christ. And, many of us who have the availability 00:21:34.89\00:21:38.23 of beautiful pictures and being able to 00:21:38.26\00:21:40.96 access things online or in some kind of 00:21:41.00\00:21:43.77 program...we have a great advantage. However, 00:21:43.80\00:21:47.07 there are thousands- yes, millions of people 00:21:47.10\00:21:50.37 who don't have that advantage, and the 00:21:50.41\00:21:52.51 picture roll project is just for them; it's 00:21:52.54\00:21:56.78 for people who will take this precious 00:21:56.85\00:21:59.15 project and they will use it in total member 00:21:59.18\00:22:02.55 involvement, sharing Jesus with others. Be 00:22:02.58\00:22:05.92 a part of it. [CHILDREN SING] 00:22:05.95\00:22:14.06 Wow, that was powerful and you can really see the 00:22:24.21\00:22:27.04 benefits of having the New Beginnings picture 00:22:27.08\00:22:29.88 roll. It's just amazing, too, and they were 00:22:30.85\00:22:32.91 saying that, Steve, that many parts of the 00:22:32.95\00:22:34.98 world have very sporadic electricity or none at 00:22:35.02\00:22:39.09 all. - Yeah. The estimate right now is that 1.2 00:22:39.12\00:22:43.16 billion people on planet Earth do not have regular 00:22:43.19\00:22:47.16 access or any access at all to electricity. 00:22:47.20\00:22:51.00 - That's a staggering number. - If you say 00:22:51.03\00:22:54.80 our population is 7 point something billion, 00:22:57.54\00:22:59.27 it's 1 out of every 7 people on planet Earth 00:22:59.31\00:23:02.44 that do not have what we consider to be our 00:23:02.48\00:23:05.51 right. - Uh, yeah. - If we don't have electricity, 00:23:05.55\00:23:08.68 we're making some phone calls. Something is 00:23:08.72\00:23:11.45 wrong in the world, and we think maybe the end 00:23:11.49\00:23:14.06 has come if we're out of electricity for five 00:23:14.09\00:23:16.26 minutes. If it stretches to a couple of days, 00:23:16.29\00:23:19.09 we really believe that we've suffered; but most 00:23:19.13\00:23:22.06 of the world, you know... I mean, 1.2 billion 00:23:22.10\00:23:24.97 people without regular or good access to 00:23:25.03\00:23:28.74 electricity is amazing. - I can't tell you many 00:23:28.77\00:23:30.97 places I've preached in Africa where I've been 00:23:31.01\00:23:33.61 under a mango tree or just outside, and the 00:23:33.64\00:23:36.14 people around there- there's no electricity. 00:23:36.18\00:23:38.65 In some places, there's no running water; there's 00:23:38.71\00:23:41.92 no access to it, so this is all that they 00:23:41.95\00:23:44.32 have. So, you can't bring a PowerPoint 00:23:44.35\00:23:46.65 presentation or use the traditional New Beginnings; 00:23:46.69\00:23:49.49 the best you could use is the New Beginnings 00:23:49.52\00:23:51.86 picture rolls, which would really make a 00:23:51.89\00:23:53.90 difference. - I'm so excited about this 00:23:53.93\00:23:56.20 project. And these, right here, are hot off 00:23:56.26\00:23:58.03 the press, 'cause they just came in; is that 00:23:58.07\00:24:00.04 right? - Yes. - They're the first fruits. The 00:24:00.07\00:24:02.60 first fruits are here; they've been shipped 00:24:02.64\00:24:04.74 directly from China here to be here for 00:24:04.77\00:24:06.98 this program. So, they're printed, though, 00:24:07.04\00:24:09.91 in China. We have 7,500 of these sets printed, 00:24:09.94\00:24:12.78 and we're preparing to ship those around 00:24:12.81\00:24:15.68 the world to the divisions that need them most and 00:24:15.72\00:24:19.15 to empower those laypeople there. - And we have 00:24:19.19\00:24:22.56 Pastor Rodney sitting back here by the 00:24:22.62\00:24:24.89 picture roll, and we're going to actually take 00:24:24.93\00:24:26.83 a look at some of the pictures here. - They 00:24:26.86\00:24:28.86 are so exciting to see. There are two of them, 00:24:28.90\00:24:32.07 actually; there's Book One and Book Two. Each 00:24:32.10\00:24:35.27 one has 13 sermons that are fully scripted 00:24:35.30\00:24:38.44 here, so it's very exciting. It's on 00:24:38.47\00:24:40.54 synthetic, waterproof, tear-resistant paper, 00:24:40.58\00:24:43.78 so they're ready to go into the jungles. 00:24:43.81\00:24:46.98 - I like that. So, if I were crossing a stream 00:24:47.02\00:24:48.82 and it were to fall into the creek, it's not 00:24:48.85\00:24:50.52 ruined. - No problem. - And what did you say, 00:24:50.55\00:24:52.15 tear-proof? - Tear-resistant. - That's right, okay. [laughter] 00:24:52.19\00:24:56.29 Going to give me a challenge. And what 00:24:56.32\00:24:57.89 was the other thing? You said waterproof, 00:24:57.96\00:24:59.93 tear-resistant, and... there was one other 00:24:59.96\00:25:01.70 thing. Anyway... - It's very durable. - Very 00:25:01.73\00:25:03.40 durable. - Yes. - Fantastic. So, we're going to flip 00:25:03.43\00:25:06.43 through some of these. - Yeah! We're going to 00:25:06.50\00:25:08.14 flip through a few, and you can see the 00:25:08.17\00:25:10.34 covers-beautifully designed covers-but 00:25:10.37\00:25:12.47 each of these 26 messages includes two components: 00:25:12.51\00:25:17.08 there's the health component, first of 00:25:17.15\00:25:19.55 all; and secondly is the Bible component. 00:25:19.58\00:25:21.95 So, this being presented on the frontlines, this 00:25:21.98\00:25:24.89 health component is an extremely important part 00:25:24.92\00:25:27.52 of this, because it's very practical for the 00:25:27.56\00:25:30.99 people. Rodney is there. Rodney, you have the 00:25:31.03\00:25:34.53 image up of the first health talk, which is 00:25:34.56\00:25:37.63 the one on water, clean water, so important 00:25:37.67\00:25:40.44 around the world - absolutely essential 00:25:40.47\00:25:43.10 for people that are living in the third-world 00:25:43.14\00:25:45.07 environment to have clean water. And so, 00:25:45.11\00:25:48.08 these health talks were created specifically 00:25:48.11\00:25:51.05 for this third-world environment. These 00:25:51.08\00:25:53.58 images were developed and scripts written just 00:25:53.62\00:25:58.55 for this application. So, clean water. Like the 00:25:58.62\00:26:02.12 small group discussion, after they see that and 00:26:02.16\00:26:05.36 hear that talk, will be, "So what could you do 00:26:05.39\00:26:08.56 this week that would change your water 00:26:08.60\00:26:12.03 quality?" So, there are tips: filtering, letting 00:26:12.07\00:26:16.20 the sun cleanse the water for a period of 00:26:16.24\00:26:18.41 time; all of those things are written. 00:26:18.44\00:26:20.58 We have a booklet that has been designed and 00:26:20.61\00:26:23.48 written specifically for this project, which is 00:26:23.55\00:26:26.45 the script booklet for each of these talks. 00:26:26.48\00:26:29.95 So, the health talks are here, the Bible 00:26:29.98\00:26:33.39 lectures are here, the small group discussion 00:26:33.42\00:26:36.59 questions are here, so anyone can take this 00:26:36.62\00:26:39.93 anywhere in the world even without electricity 00:26:39.96\00:26:43.43 and present the health and the Bible together 00:26:43.47\00:26:46.84 in a powerful combination to help improve communities 00:26:46.87\00:26:50.84 and to win souls for Christ. It's amazing. 00:26:50.87\00:26:53.31 We want to show you just a few of the other 00:26:53.34\00:26:55.14 images. - Oh, that's good. I was just going 00:26:55.18\00:26:56.95 to say the illustration's just powerful on this. 00:26:56.98\00:26:58.75 Very...simple. I don't mean simple in a bad 00:26:58.78\00:27:01.28 way, but it's very- you understand. - It's clear. 00:27:01.35\00:27:03.32 - Very clear. Thank you for that. - Right. 00:27:03.35\00:27:04.92 - I like it. - And so, for instance, the 00:27:07.76\00:27:09.19 first lecture is on Daniel 2. The Bible 00:27:09.22\00:27:10.59 lecture's on Daniel 2. - Oh, that's beautiful! 00:27:10.63\00:27:13.23 - And the city of Babylon. Maybe they had thought 00:27:13.26\00:27:15.66 about, "Actually, there was a city that could 00:27:15.70\00:27:18.07 look like this;" but this is an artist's 00:27:18.10\00:27:20.24 rendition of the city of Babylon. It's a 00:27:20.27\00:27:22.10 beautiful image of the city of Babylon and 00:27:22.14\00:27:24.87 the story there of King Nebuchadnezzar and how 00:27:24.91\00:27:28.11 he was sleeping on his bed. You know, they maybe 00:27:28.14\00:27:30.88 have never seen these kinds of things before, 00:27:30.91\00:27:33.28 never thought of what that might look like. 00:27:33.31\00:27:35.45 - Wow. - And he's dreaming there. He's seeing this... 00:27:35.48\00:27:37.79 - And then you have the image! - Image, in his dream 00:27:37.85\00:27:41.02 and then he is searching for someone to interpret, 00:27:41.06\00:27:44.23 and he finds Daniel who is a man of God 00:27:44.26\00:27:47.40 on his knees before God, receives divine 00:27:47.43\00:27:50.47 enlightenment as to what the dream means. Then, 00:27:50.50\00:27:54.00 he's able to stand before the king and 00:27:54.04\00:27:55.77 actually interpret the dreams; amazing story 00:27:55.80\00:27:58.47 we find in the Bible. It builds the foundation 00:27:58.51\00:28:01.21 for the history of the world, actually, and 00:28:01.24\00:28:04.25 what we believe. And the final scene that 00:28:04.28\00:28:06.85 Nebuchadnezzar sees as the stone that is 00:28:06.88\00:28:10.32 cut out without hands and strikes the image 00:28:10.35\00:28:14.02 on its feet. And to hear the world history, the 00:28:14.06\00:28:17.43 nations of Europe, and how they... Even today, 00:28:17.46\00:28:20.40 I was listening to the news just recently - 00:28:20.43\00:28:23.33 the whole issue of European currency. 00:28:23.37\00:28:26.20 They're not going to cling together, because 00:28:26.23\00:28:28.70 the Bible says they won't. - That's right. 00:28:28.74\00:28:31.84 - It's prophetic! And we stand today seeing 00:28:31.87\00:28:35.08 that happen. - Wow. Yeah. - But you know, what 00:28:35.11\00:28:37.91 happens after the stone hits the image? - Yes. 00:28:37.95\00:28:40.92 Christ will set up a kingdom that will never 00:28:40.98\00:28:44.25 be destroyed. - This coming of Christ! This 00:28:44.29\00:28:47.56 coming of Christ. Maybe they've never seen this 00:28:47.59\00:28:50.16 kind of artwork representing that story. But this is 00:28:50.19\00:28:54.46 an amazing opportunity for us to really help 00:28:54.50\00:28:57.80 these people to get a visual idea of what 00:28:57.83\00:29:00.47 that might be. We have several of the images. 00:29:00.50\00:29:03.30 One of the ones I just love is the one of 00:29:03.34\00:29:06.31 heaven and the image of what it would be like 00:29:06.34\00:29:09.51 to be in the presence of God in a world where... 00:29:09.54\00:29:12.68 - Oh, look at that. - ...there's plenty of 00:29:12.71\00:29:14.78 water. - That's a Nathan Greene, as well, right? 00:29:14.82\00:29:18.25 - The lion will lie with the lamb and the children 00:29:18.29\00:29:21.62 will be there. And for people that have- 00:29:21.66\00:29:25.33 you're trying to imagine that just in your own 00:29:25.39\00:29:27.83 thinking is one thing, but when you see an 00:29:27.86\00:29:30.23 artist having described it with his paintbrush, 00:29:30.27\00:29:33.54 it's a beautiful thing. It helps the mind to 00:29:33.57\00:29:36.71 actually grasp the idea. - A picture's worth a 00:29:36.74\00:29:39.81 thousand words. - That's right. - Yeah! - And here, 00:29:39.84\00:29:41.98 it gives people that rendition of- of course, 00:29:42.01\00:29:45.31 it's an artist's conception. I see several of these 00:29:45.35\00:29:47.28 paintings we looked at were Nathan Greene. 00:29:47.32\00:29:49.38 I can see that, and he's a fabulous artist. 00:29:49.42\00:29:52.75 But just to be able to connect visually- you 00:29:52.79\00:29:56.09 know, I love that! What an incredible concept- 00:29:56.12\00:29:59.13 a God-ordained concept. I like that. - Pastor 00:29:59.16\00:30:01.93 Philip, the people's reaction, when you're 00:30:01.96\00:30:04.10 out there, 'cause you took the- you saw the 00:30:04.13\00:30:06.20 initial reaction to the, what'd you say, the sample 00:30:06.23\00:30:07.70 one, or the...? - Yes. - The mach up one. 00:30:07.74\00:30:09.97 That must be tremendous cause- I mean, this is 00:30:10.01\00:30:11.91 just so vivid for the- I mean, the people's 00:30:11.94\00:30:13.84 attention, what is it like when they see this? 00:30:13.88\00:30:15.81 - I mean, it was incredible, because many of them 00:30:15.84\00:30:17.75 are in rural settings with no phones or no 00:30:17.78\00:30:21.18 internet, no TV... And so, there were just 00:30:21.22\00:30:24.32 little children- just gather around. They 00:30:24.35\00:30:27.42 just absolutely loved it. And most importantly, 00:30:27.46\00:30:30.69 the message rang through. The strength of the 00:30:30.73\00:30:34.30 New Beginnings is that the message is able to 00:30:34.33\00:30:37.90 be carried by these powerful images, and 00:30:37.93\00:30:40.20 the picture roll project does the same thing. 00:30:40.24\00:30:42.60 - Yeah. It's absolutely incredible. Go ahead; 00:30:42.64\00:30:44.71 you were going to say something. - This is 00:30:44.74\00:30:46.74 the three angels' messages put together in picture 00:30:46.78\00:30:50.21 form. It's the full message; it's not just 00:30:50.25\00:30:53.08 part of it. It is the full message that we 00:30:53.11\00:30:55.42 have as Seventh-day Adventists. And it's 00:30:55.48\00:30:58.65 so exciting to think of the potential that 00:30:58.69\00:31:01.79 this has to reach millions of people that are living 00:31:01.82\00:31:05.33 in darkness. - Absolutely incredible. And I noticed 00:31:05.36\00:31:10.17 as you're flipping them over, 'cause some people- 00:31:10.20\00:31:11.90 you at home may have noticed this, too- I see 00:31:11.93\00:31:13.57 pictures on the backside. So you said there's 13 00:31:13.64\00:31:15.24 in each one, so do you flip it around? - Yes. 00:31:15.27\00:31:17.41 You turn it around; you flip it the other way. 00:31:17.47\00:31:19.57 So, in total, there's 208 graphic images. 00:31:19.61\00:31:23.21 - Really!? - So, there are 26 sermons. Each 00:31:23.24\00:31:26.72 sermon has 7 Bible images and one health image. 00:31:26.75\00:31:30.22 So, they go in order as you flip forward 00:31:30.25\00:31:32.55 in the chart, and then you turn it around, 00:31:32.59\00:31:34.82 you flip backward, and then you go to roll 00:31:34.89\00:31:37.09 #2 and repeat that. And when you're done, you've 00:31:37.13\00:31:39.79 presented 26 topics in their full complete 00:31:39.83\00:31:42.70 message. - Wow. - And it's also nice, too, 00:31:42.76\00:31:44.80 'cause you have the script book that goes 00:31:44.83\00:31:46.87 right along with it, so this is just like 00:31:46.90\00:31:48.44 the New Beginnings is- well, you mentioned DVD, 00:31:48.47\00:31:50.11 that's kind of out; it's more cloud-based now 00:31:50.14\00:31:51.71 is what it is. But you're just following 00:31:51.74\00:31:53.44 along, and like you said, a layperson can 00:31:53.48\00:31:55.08 easily do this themselves. - You just have to read 00:31:55.11\00:31:58.11 the script; that's it! Yeah, it's just easy. 00:31:58.15\00:32:00.62 It's simple. - Do we have more pictures to 00:32:00.65\00:32:02.72 look at, or can we invite you to come sit 00:32:02.75\00:32:04.75 back down here, Rodney? - We have lots and lots 00:32:04.79\00:32:07.69 of pictures to look at, but I just want to bring 00:32:07.72\00:32:10.59 us back to the Second Coming picture. This is 00:32:10.63\00:32:13.73 kind of the keynote in that we just love 00:32:13.76\00:32:17.07 around the world. - Amen. - Yeah. That image, when 00:32:17.13\00:32:21.94 you look at that... I have one on the wall 00:32:21.97\00:32:24.84 right across from my office in the hallway 00:32:24.87\00:32:27.14 there at the school. It's a huge one that 00:32:27.18\00:32:29.38 was given to us. - We have one at our school 00:32:29.41\00:32:31.85 here. - We do. - And when I look at that and 00:32:31.88\00:32:34.08 people come in and out the hallway, they stop 00:32:34.12\00:32:36.82 and they look at that. You can kind of imagine 00:32:36.85\00:32:40.69 yourself in that picture. The way that it was 00:32:40.72\00:32:44.53 painted by the artist gives a very broad 00:32:44.56\00:32:48.30 spectrum of people. There's the indigenous people and 00:32:48.36\00:32:51.97 the Caucasian people and the different races 00:32:52.00\00:32:55.40 are represented there. It's a powerful thing to 00:32:55.44\00:32:58.77 stand and think about when Christ will come 00:32:58.81\00:33:02.84 and for us to have the opportunity to be there 00:33:02.88\00:33:07.15 and to think that if we don't go out and share 00:33:07.18\00:33:11.39 this good news with people, they may not 00:33:11.42\00:33:13.79 have the opportunity to be there. It's very 00:33:13.86\00:33:16.02 sobering. - Oh, it is. - You know? And to say 00:33:16.06\00:33:18.16 we're going to depend on whether we've got 00:33:18.19\00:33:20.70 gas in the generator or the right technology 00:33:20.73\00:33:23.67 to do this, I think we need both ends of the 00:33:23.70\00:33:26.63 spectrum. We need the high-end technology, 00:33:26.67\00:33:28.97 because there's a group of people in our world 00:33:29.00\00:33:30.77 that's the only thing they're going to see 00:33:30.81\00:33:32.51 and listen to today. But we also need to 00:33:32.54\00:33:35.48 understand that there's a lot of people in the 00:33:35.51\00:33:37.71 world that need the low-end of this technology. 00:33:37.75\00:33:40.52 - The highways and the byways. - Yeah. I want 00:33:40.55\00:33:43.32 to ask Rodney just briefly to talk about 00:33:43.35\00:33:45.85 his experience. He was recently in Africa and 00:33:45.92\00:33:48.66 just returned recently from there. Rodney, 00:33:48.69\00:33:51.39 just share with us your experience of going out 00:33:51.43\00:33:53.26 to the frontline villages and kind of what that 00:33:53.29\00:33:56.16 felt like. - It was so amazing to go on this 00:33:56.20\00:33:59.37 trip to East Africa. I was just visiting the 00:33:59.40\00:34:02.50 East-Central Africa Division, and I had 00:34:02.54\00:34:05.31 the opportunity to go to north-western Kenya. 00:34:05.34\00:34:08.31 It was very remote. I spent a lot of time 00:34:08.34\00:34:11.21 traveling in Africa over the last several years, 00:34:11.25\00:34:14.82 but this was a place that really opened my 00:34:14.85\00:34:18.39 eyes to the need of these picture rolls. We went to 00:34:18.42\00:34:21.62 visit one of the villages that was there; it was 00:34:21.66\00:34:25.59 about an hour away by driving to visit the Turkana 00:34:25.63\00:34:29.53 tribe. When we were there visiting with these 00:34:29.56\00:34:32.87 people, it was astounding to see the conditions 00:34:32.90\00:34:36.14 that they lived in. Not only was there no 00:34:36.17\00:34:39.34 electricity; they walk 10 miles one way to 00:34:39.37\00:34:42.48 get water. - 10 miles. - 10 miles. - That's one 00:34:42.54\00:34:45.65 way. So 20 miles round-trip. - Can you imagine that? 00:34:45.71\00:34:48.72 - And this is water for drinking and for bathing 00:34:48.78\00:34:51.25 and... - This is water for everything! - Wow. 00:34:51.29\00:34:53.76 - This is their whole life. So when they 00:34:53.79\00:34:55.46 come back... You know, you can only carry so much 00:34:55.49\00:34:58.36 water in one trip. When they come back and they're 00:34:58.39\00:35:01.23 sharing the water, we had a meeting, so they 00:35:01.26\00:35:04.07 were bringing the water for the children and 00:35:04.10\00:35:06.70 people who were thirsty. What did they use for 00:35:06.74\00:35:09.27 a cup? The little lid on the top of the 00:35:09.30\00:35:13.14 container, which is like a soda pop lid. - That's 00:35:13.17\00:35:16.48 not much water at all. - Hardly at all. I really- 00:35:16.54\00:35:19.81 it was shocking to me. I was speechless. I 00:35:19.85\00:35:23.02 mean, right now, I'm just struggling to find 00:35:23.05\00:35:26.15 the words for the challenge that these people lived 00:35:26.19\00:35:29.39 in. - And that much water is for how much 00:35:29.42\00:35:33.29 time? I mean, is that for an hour or two, or 00:35:33.33\00:35:36.73 are we talking a day? - We're talking a day. 00:35:36.77\00:35:40.50 It's a very challenging situation. The reason 00:35:40.54\00:35:44.14 that we were up there is because Light is doing 00:35:44.21\00:35:47.44 a project, and we wanted to see the feasibility 00:35:47.48\00:35:50.48 of reaching these people with the gospel. These 00:35:50.51\00:35:53.38 picture rolls are going to be perfect to reach 00:35:53.42\00:35:56.55 people like this. There are so many villages, 00:35:56.58\00:35:59.62 as Philip was mentioning, that are just like this! 00:35:59.65\00:36:03.96 They don't have electricity, they don't have the water, 00:36:04.03\00:36:06.66 they don't have the resources... We need 00:36:06.70\00:36:08.73 to bring them the living water, and the need is 00:36:08.76\00:36:10.97 huge for this project! We don't recognize, but 00:36:11.00\00:36:14.77 it's huge. - Wow. - So, let's just talk a little 00:36:14.80\00:36:17.94 bit about that, Rodney, as we're talking about 00:36:17.97\00:36:21.01 this-the need itself. You were at the division 00:36:21.04\00:36:24.05 year-end meetings in East-Central Africa. 00:36:24.08\00:36:26.95 We've been working on this project now; the 00:36:26.98\00:36:29.75 final version is about- it's taken us about two 00:36:29.78\00:36:32.45 years to get this thing printed and ready to 00:36:32.49\00:36:35.12 ship. We're ready to ship now. They're 00:36:35.16\00:36:37.66 requesting, now, how many they need. What 00:36:37.69\00:36:40.66 was the result when they were asking how many 00:36:40.70\00:36:43.73 they needed? - So, the president of the division 00:36:43.77\00:36:47.37 asked the union presidents there to submit their 00:36:47.40\00:36:50.77 request for how many they would like. In each 00:36:50.81\00:36:53.94 container-we're talking a shipping container-we 00:36:53.98\00:36:57.08 can put 1,500 sets of these here. The next 00:36:57.11\00:37:02.28 day, I got an email from the ministerial association 00:37:02.35\00:37:06.69 there, and they said, "We would like 23 00:37:06.72\00:37:10.79 containers only for East-Central Africa 00:37:10.83\00:37:14.83 Division." 23 containers! - 34,000 sets of these 00:37:14.86\00:37:20.44 picture rolls... That is amazing. - We feel 00:37:20.47\00:37:22.60 the need there. - We only printed 7,500, so... 00:37:22.67\00:37:24.77 - That's what I was going to say, right? 00:37:24.81\00:37:26.47 These are hot off the press, and we have 7,500, 00:37:26.51\00:37:28.94 but yet, they requested 34,000. - That's just 00:37:28.98\00:37:31.88 one of three divisions in Africa! - So the need 00:37:31.91\00:37:35.35 is great. - The need is huge, and the potential 00:37:35.38\00:37:38.75 to have the gospel presented this way is 00:37:38.79\00:37:43.22 almost without measurement, because people are so 00:37:43.26\00:37:46.96 thirsty in that area- not just for physical 00:37:47.00\00:37:49.56 water, but for spiritual light that I would believe 00:37:49.60\00:37:53.60 it would have a huge impact to have this 00:37:53.64\00:37:56.71 kind of tool in the hands of laypeople on the 00:37:56.74\00:38:00.04 frontlines. Now, reality is, I would not survive 00:38:00.08\00:38:03.75 in sub-Saharan Africa very long. I'm just too 00:38:03.78\00:38:08.08 used to the things that we have here-to water. 00:38:08.12\00:38:12.39 I couldn't survive on a teaspoon of water 00:38:12.42\00:38:14.96 every few hours...you know? I drink bottles 00:38:14.99\00:38:18.33 at a time. So, the fact that those people live 00:38:18.36\00:38:21.36 there and they can be trained and empowered 00:38:21.43\00:38:25.23 with this tool to do this work is huge. It's an 00:38:25.27\00:38:29.07 opportunity that we don't really want to 00:38:29.10\00:38:31.64 miss. - So, talk to us about how we can get 00:38:31.67\00:38:34.68 involved. I mean, the need is incredible. I 00:38:34.74\00:38:38.08 just can't even imagine people living in those 00:38:38.11\00:38:41.42 conditions; but the biggest thing is not 00:38:41.45\00:38:44.12 only the physical conditions but people perishing 00:38:44.19\00:38:46.42 because of lack of knowledge of the gospel. 00:38:46.45\00:38:50.16 I mean, physically, yes- we want to help, but 00:38:50.19\00:38:53.53 spiritually, they don't know Jesus living in 00:38:53.56\00:38:57.53 that darkness. So, this picture roll project can 00:38:57.57\00:39:01.10 bring the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, 00:39:01.14\00:39:04.77 connected with the health message in some health 00:39:04.84\00:39:08.21 tips for them in their community. So, tell us 00:39:08.24\00:39:11.51 how we can get involved in this project. - Well, 00:39:11.58\00:39:15.18 $100 can give one person on the frontlines a 00:39:15.22\00:39:18.15 picture roll, and they can be empowered to 00:39:18.19\00:39:20.79 preach and to share the good news of the 00:39:20.82\00:39:23.69 Adventist message-just $100. - $100 for two 00:39:23.73\00:39:26.56 of these, then? - Yeah. - Because the part one 00:39:26.59\00:39:28.50 and two-the set. - The whole set comes in a 00:39:28.53\00:39:30.77 container that is protected for them and 00:39:30.80\00:39:33.47 with the scripts and with the picture rolls 00:39:33.50\00:39:36.10 and everything. So, $100 empowers a layperson 00:39:36.17\00:39:38.97 on the frontlines to do this, and we've set 00:39:39.01\00:39:41.64 up a website and we'll giving that address in 00:39:41.68\00:39:44.38 a few minutes as far as where they can go to 00:39:44.41\00:39:47.08 understand this. You know, as I'm thinking 00:39:47.12\00:39:49.85 about this project, and having been involved 00:39:49.88\00:39:52.59 with it for a couple of years, and I'm thinking, 00:39:52.62\00:39:54.16 it's never going to happen, it's taking way too long. 00:39:54.22\00:39:56.76 " People are dying on the frontlines. 00:39:56.79\00:39:59.33 And if they die from lack of physical water, 00:39:59.36\00:40:02.60 that's one thing; but if they're dying for lack 00:40:02.63\00:40:06.60 of spiritual nourishment and water, that's a 00:40:06.63\00:40:10.54 responsibility we need to take very carefully 00:40:10.57\00:40:13.04 and consider what it means. When we live in a situation, 00:40:13.07\00:40:17.65 oftentimes, where we don't think about the 00:40:17.68\00:40:21.08 people that are living in different situations 00:40:21.12\00:40:23.92 like that, we think of our own selves. Many 00:40:23.95\00:40:26.45 times, we're thinking, "How am I going to get 00:40:26.49\00:40:29.59 my next TV?" Not, "How am I going to get a 00:40:29.62\00:40:32.66 cup of water?" You know? This is a different 00:40:32.69\00:40:36.03 paradigm than we live in. And to understand 00:40:36.06\00:40:39.33 that we can have impact there through empowering 00:40:39.37\00:40:42.40 laypeople and sharing the good news of the 00:40:42.44\00:40:44.64 gospel on the frontlines... You know, Jesus said 00:40:44.67\00:40:47.74 to His disciples as He was leaving, He said, 00:40:47.78\00:40:51.88 "Go therefore and teach all nations." You know? 00:40:51.91\00:40:55.38 He didn't say, "Go to just part of it," or, 00:40:55.42\00:40:58.75 "Go to where people to where it's easy." - "Go 00:40:58.79\00:41:02.12 to where they have electricity." - Go everywhere 00:41:02.16\00:41:04.06 and tell the good news. So, you know, even 00:41:04.09\00:41:07.26 though we can't go, we can empower people to 00:41:07.30\00:41:10.40 go. So this opportunity to engage in this frontline 00:41:10.43\00:41:15.34 initiative is very powerful; and what we 00:41:15.37\00:41:17.91 need at this point is hundreds of people 00:41:17.94\00:41:20.38 that would step up and sponsor one, two, five, 00:41:20.41\00:41:23.81 10... $1,000 for most of us is not something 00:41:23.85\00:41:27.02 we couldn't do...you know? That would be 10 00:41:27.05\00:41:30.19 picture rolls on the frontline with souls in 00:41:30.22\00:41:33.05 the kingdom because of it. - Yeah, I'm just 00:41:33.09\00:41:35.62 excited too, because each set is reaching 00:41:35.66\00:41:38.13 who knows how many lives, because these are so 00:41:38.16\00:41:40.46 durable; these things are going to last, in 00:41:40.50\00:41:42.30 my opinion, for years. So, this is just gonna- 00:41:42.33\00:41:44.67 the ripple effect, and one set, $100...you 00:41:44.73\00:41:47.00 don't even know how many souls this is going to 00:41:47.04\00:41:48.87 impact. And this is what's exciting, 'cause 00:41:48.90\00:41:50.81 you can be at home, saying, "Okay, frontline... 00:41:50.84\00:41:53.27 I can't get out, I can't do this; there's no way." 00:41:53.31\00:41:55.71 But hey, we can! With $100, we'll sponsor one 00:41:55.74\00:41:58.78 set of these, and then the frontline missionaries 00:41:58.81\00:42:01.82 out there, sharing the gospel to who knows 00:42:01.85\00:42:04.15 how many people. - You know, there's another 00:42:04.19\00:42:06.49 group of people, though, that I think we need to 00:42:06.52\00:42:08.86 recognize. - Okay! - And there are some people, 00:42:08.89\00:42:11.23 even in the North American area and other 00:42:11.26\00:42:14.90 areas that have intentions, and God has given them a 00:42:14.93\00:42:18.80 burden to go themselves. - Good. Thank you. - This 00:42:18.83\00:42:21.87 is a tool that they can take to the frontlines. 00:42:21.90\00:42:24.94 They don't have to go without a tool. They 00:42:24.97\00:42:28.04 can go now with a tool. - So you're saying I 00:42:28.08\00:42:30.61 could actually go to the website and purchase a 00:42:30.65\00:42:32.88 set myself that comes with the script... - You 00:42:32.91\00:42:35.12 know, we're going to need to put that up 00:42:35.15\00:42:36.58 there. I think right now, it's just a 00:42:36.62\00:42:37.99 donate-where-you-can-sponsor set, but that's a really 00:42:38.02\00:42:40.89 great idea where we could put a link on there that 00:42:40.92\00:42:43.73 they could actually go there and purchase a 00:42:43.79\00:42:46.56 set for themselves where they could take it to 00:42:46.59\00:42:49.36 the frontlines with them. - Amen. Amen. 00:42:49.40\00:42:51.23 - Rodney, you were going to say something. 00:42:51.27\00:42:52.83 Go ahead. - I've done a lot of mission trips, 00:42:52.87\00:42:55.40 and many times, when we plan mission trips, we 00:42:55.47\00:42:58.41 take all of our gadgets with us and we leave 00:42:58.47\00:43:01.48 with all of them. If we do this, we can take 00:43:01.51\00:43:04.48 something that's reproducible by the 00:43:04.51\00:43:06.95 people that were evangelizing, and then they can 00:43:06.98\00:43:09.85 continue it on. If we have a fancy projector 00:43:09.88\00:43:12.25 or whatever, it might work for a little while, 00:43:12.29\00:43:15.26 but then a power surge comes and that's the 00:43:15.29\00:43:18.19 end of it. So with these picture rolls, 00:43:18.23\00:43:20.80 they really can last a long time. Do you 00:43:20.83\00:43:23.37 remember the early ASI picture rolls by any 00:43:23.40\00:43:25.43 chance? - I remember the Sabbath School 00:43:25.47\00:43:27.47 rolls; I remember that we would see it for 00:43:27.50\00:43:29.37 missionaries and stuff, and I'd even have my 00:43:29.40\00:43:31.44 Sabbath School class as a little kid. Those 00:43:31.47\00:43:33.24 were exciting to see the pictures. - There are 00:43:33.27\00:43:35.44 still some of those that have lasted all the test 00:43:35.48\00:43:37.58 of time. I see them when I travel around 00:43:37.65\00:43:40.45 the world, and I think that this is going to 00:43:40.48\00:43:42.95 be something that is fresh; it's with our 00:43:42.98\00:43:46.02 most current graphics and with the best 00:43:46.05\00:43:49.02 artists that we have in the Adventist church, 00:43:49.06\00:43:51.13 and they're going to make an indelible 00:43:51.16\00:43:53.56 impression upon people for years to come. It's 00:43:53.60\00:43:57.17 going to be amazing. - Pastor Philip, I mean, 00:43:57.20\00:43:58.53 I know you've traveled. You mentioned earlier 00:43:58.57\00:44:00.00 and gave us some experiences of traveling 00:44:00.04\00:44:01.50 or being in East Africa- right?- yourself. The 00:44:01.54\00:44:05.41 need there is tremendous. So, when you go and 00:44:05.44\00:44:08.61 have a series- do you call these evangelistic 00:44:08.64\00:44:11.78 series? - Yes! Yes. - Okay. How many people do 00:44:11.81\00:44:14.15 you think would come out on average? - Probably 00:44:14.18\00:44:17.45 5,000. Yeah. I mean, a lot of people. - Whoa. 00:44:17.49\00:44:19.99 - And sometimes, they'll just be gathered around 00:44:20.02\00:44:22.52 the tree or outside or under a small tent 00:44:22.56\00:44:26.39 with no electricity. - And no microphone 00:44:26.46\00:44:29.70 or anything. It's just so hard for us to? 00:44:29.73\00:44:32.23 - Put your preaching voice on. "Jesus is 00:44:32.30\00:44:35.14 able to save you!" [laughter] - And what's 00:44:35.20\00:44:37.54 so powerful to me and so moving is that you'd 00:44:37.57\00:44:39.84 have young people from the little ones all the way 00:44:39.87\00:44:42.64 to those that have lived many years, 00:44:42.68\00:44:44.35 coming, and are just soaking in the Word of 00:44:44.38\00:44:47.25 God. 'Cause not only, I think, are they intrigued 00:44:47.28\00:44:49.85 by just the graphics; it's what's being 00:44:49.88\00:44:51.72 presented. - Yes. - It's the Word of God, and 00:44:51.75\00:44:54.26 it will not return void. - The Adventist message. 00:44:54.29\00:44:56.12 - Yeah, that's right. Go ahead; you had something 00:44:56.16\00:44:57.79 else you wanted to share. - I was just going to say 00:44:57.83\00:44:59.43 that, you know, as we look for instance that 00:44:59.49\00:45:03.00 the Second Coming image. - Amen. It's so powerful. 00:45:03.03\00:45:06.33 - We ponder even ourselves in that spot and we say, 00:45:06.37\00:45:09.60 "What could we have done to bring more 00:45:09.64\00:45:11.31 people to that spot where they would be ready when 00:45:11.34\00:45:14.98 Jesus comes?" And I think that's the passion 00:45:15.01\00:45:17.61 we share as Seventh-day Adventist Christians 00:45:17.65\00:45:20.22 and as, even, not Seventh-day Adventist Christians. 00:45:20.25\00:45:23.18 Christians around the world, we share this 00:45:23.22\00:45:24.55 passion to get the good news to the whole world, 00:45:24.59\00:45:27.29 and we know that what the Bible says, "When 00:45:27.32\00:45:29.82 this is done, then Jesus will come." So, there's 00:45:29.86\00:45:33.06 this promise of His return that, personally, 00:45:33.09\00:45:36.06 I'm looking forward to and excited that it's 00:45:36.10\00:45:39.00 coming soon...but we've got some work to do, 00:45:39.03\00:45:41.84 and this is an opportunity for us to engage in doing 00:45:41.90\00:45:44.97 this together. - I agree with that, and I think 00:45:45.01\00:45:47.34 what's also really touching me is there's 00:45:47.38\00:45:49.31 a need out there; there's a cry. - Yes. - "We want 00:45:49.34\00:45:52.71 this, we need this, we want the gospel," and 00:45:52.75\00:45:54.58 I think it's our responsibility to be 00:45:54.62\00:45:56.99 able to meet that need. Again, hit those figures 00:45:57.02\00:45:59.32 right now, 'cause this is just one region of 00:45:59.35\00:46:01.62 the world. So, give us those figures one more 00:46:01.66\00:46:03.79 time, 'cause it's absolutely powerful. Let's start, again, 00:46:03.83\00:46:05.49 with 1.25 billion without electricity? - 1.2 billion. 00:46:05.53\00:46:09.33 - 1.2 billion is the estimate that either 00:46:09.36\00:46:11.67 do not have any electricity or very limited access to 00:46:11.73\00:46:15.40 electricity. - Okay. And then the figures 00:46:15.44\00:46:17.11 then that were just given... - From the 00:46:17.14\00:46:18.74 East-Central Africa... - Division. - So, the 00:46:18.77\00:46:22.78 need there alone in this one small geographic 00:46:22.81\00:46:27.98 area is 23 containers of 1,500 picture rolls 00:46:28.02\00:46:33.09 each. - Which was 34,000. - Plus; yes. And that's 00:46:33.12\00:46:37.49 just one place. I know that the need in the 00:46:37.53\00:46:41.96 rest of Africa and many places in India are 00:46:42.00\00:46:46.00 still in need of a tool like this; and in the 00:46:46.03\00:46:49.00 jungles, we have a lot of people that still 00:46:49.04\00:46:51.91 live in jungles that- they're not going to 00:46:51.94\00:46:54.78 see any electricity coming any time soon; 00:46:54.81\00:46:57.71 I'll tell you that. - So, how does the script 00:46:57.75\00:47:00.62 work for different languages? So, obviously, 00:47:00.65\00:47:02.78 the person there, they have to know English 00:47:02.82\00:47:04.85 and to read English then translate it in their head 00:47:04.89\00:47:06.59 to the local language, or do you print these 00:47:06.62\00:47:08.56 scripts in different languages? - We have 00:47:08.59\00:47:10.73 not translated the scripts into other 00:47:10.76\00:47:13.19 languages. We're depending on the local 00:47:13.23\00:47:15.60 division to do the translation for themselves. 00:47:15.63\00:47:19.30 It's relatively a simple script and can be pretty 00:47:19.33\00:47:22.97 easily translated so they would take this 00:47:23.00\00:47:24.97 document, translate it into the local dialect, 00:47:25.01\00:47:27.91 and furnish it to their people. - Okay. - The 00:47:27.94\00:47:30.48 other thing is that probably many of those 00:47:30.51\00:47:32.98 people in that situation that would be trained, 00:47:33.01\00:47:35.95 they may not be able to read, but they have, 00:47:35.98\00:47:38.45 through their lives... - I didn't think about 00:47:38.49\00:47:41.32 that; yes. - They have learned how to tell 00:47:41.36\00:47:43.96 stories. It's the way they pass their history; 00:47:43.99\00:47:46.93 it's the way they take care of passing messages; 00:47:46.96\00:47:49.86 it's the way they communicate. And if 00:47:49.90\00:47:52.43 they've heard the story several times, I think 00:47:52.47\00:47:55.00 they'll be able to go do it. I mean, when you 00:47:55.04\00:47:57.74 think of like, the demoniac and he had a brief 00:47:57.77\00:48:00.41 contact with Jesus...but Jesus says, "Now you 00:48:00.44\00:48:03.58 go and you share your testimony." So, these 00:48:03.61\00:48:06.51 people, once they've heard that story, have 00:48:06.55\00:48:08.98 bought into it themselves, they'll be powerful 00:48:09.02\00:48:11.45 missionaries. - Oh, amen. - So, do you have people 00:48:11.49\00:48:13.89 in place within the different unions or 00:48:13.92\00:48:16.12 conferences to train people as far as if 00:48:16.19\00:48:18.36 they're not able to read the script and 00:48:18.39\00:48:20.33 to train them how to implement this project? 00:48:20.36\00:48:23.13 - In January in South Africa, we'll be doing 00:48:23.16\00:48:25.63 the initial training with the Sabbath school 00:48:25.67\00:48:27.94 departments that will be meeting from across 00:48:28.00\00:48:30.74 Africa and will be there to train them on 00:48:30.81\00:48:33.48 this initial training. We'll train the pastors 00:48:33.51\00:48:36.44 and the leaders that come who will then go 00:48:36.48\00:48:38.95 home and train their people. So, we're 00:48:38.98\00:48:41.38 rolling it out in that way, and we've committed 00:48:41.42\00:48:44.72 ourselves to go. If they're getting a 00:48:44.75\00:48:48.59 container in their division, we're committed 00:48:48.62\00:48:51.29 to go and train and to help them to get this 00:48:51.33\00:48:54.20 moving forward in a way that will be a huge 00:48:54.23\00:48:57.07 blessing to them. - Amen. - One thing I also wanted 00:48:57.10\00:48:59.70 to mention is that if you look at the pictures, 00:48:59.73\00:49:02.40 you will see that there are no words there. 00:49:02.44\00:49:05.27 - I noticed that. - And that is because we 00:49:05.31\00:49:08.08 wanted to make it so it is usable worldwide. 00:49:08.14\00:49:10.88 - That's great. - So, the script is really 00:49:10.91\00:49:13.62 the only thing that needs to be translated. We're 00:49:13.65\00:49:16.18 really excited, because it doesn't take a lot 00:49:16.22\00:49:18.92 of work to translate our script book. - And 00:49:18.95\00:49:21.59 since it's based on the New Beginnings evangelistic 00:49:21.62\00:49:23.99 series, that's already translated into 35 00:49:24.03\00:49:26.63 languages. - Good point. - So you could download 00:49:26.70\00:49:28.86 the language of your choice and use that, 00:49:28.90\00:49:32.00 because it's the same script - same beautiful 00:49:32.03\00:49:35.00 message that shares the whole of Jesus and the 00:49:35.04\00:49:38.17 Adventist message. - Amen. The heartbeat of 3ABN 00:49:38.21\00:49:40.91 is evangelism. You know, ever since God called 00:49:40.94\00:49:44.01 Danny Shelton 34 years ago to launch a television 00:49:44.05\00:49:47.12 network that would reach the world with 00:49:47.15\00:49:49.12 the undiluted three angels' messages, one 00:49:49.15\00:49:51.52 that would counteract the counterfeit, our 00:49:51.55\00:49:53.89 heartbeat has been evangelism...and I know 00:49:53.92\00:49:57.06 the heartbeat of ASI is evangelism and 00:49:57.13\00:50:00.20 sharing Christ in the marketplace, the heartbeat 00:50:00.23\00:50:02.86 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is 00:50:02.90\00:50:05.60 evangelism - total member involvement. 00:50:05.63\00:50:08.27 And I love to see the entities, the ministries 00:50:08.30\00:50:11.67 coming together to help spread the gospel, and 00:50:11.71\00:50:14.88 this is where you at home can be involved. 00:50:14.91\00:50:18.61 You can join hands, as it were, with us, with 00:50:18.65\00:50:22.05 New Beginnings, the picture roll project, 00:50:22.08\00:50:25.32 and helping to spread the gospel to those 00:50:25.35\00:50:28.92 dark corners of Africa or India...maybe the 00:50:28.96\00:50:32.49 Pacific Islands. Maybe some of the jungle areas. 00:50:32.53\00:50:36.13 Is there any in South America? - Yes; the 00:50:36.16\00:50:38.37 Amazon Jungle is huge. There's a huge need 00:50:38.40\00:50:40.44 there in the Amazon Jungle. - Okay. So, 00:50:40.47\00:50:43.04 what we want to do now is to put up contact 00:50:43.07\00:50:46.37 information. We encourage you at home; I know 00:50:46.41\00:50:48.91 Greg and I- we haven't even talked about this, 00:50:48.94\00:50:51.68 but I know we want to be involved and we want 00:50:51.71\00:50:54.22 to support this project, and we want to encourage 00:50:54.25\00:50:56.69 you. Just $100 will pay for the picture roll 00:50:56.72\00:51:00.56 set-the part one and part two, the entire 00:51:00.59\00:51:03.99 series-and the script for a local community. 00:51:04.03\00:51:06.96 That's not just one set that just goes to one 00:51:07.00\00:51:10.37 person! That can go to thousands of people who 00:51:10.40\00:51:13.77 have not heard the gospel before. Maybe 00:51:13.80\00:51:15.70 you can give 100. Maybe you can give 500. Maybe 00:51:15.74\00:51:19.04 you can give 5,000 or 50,000. Right now, 00:51:19.07\00:51:22.44 we're just calling on you to pray what the 00:51:22.48\00:51:25.45 Lord would have you give.
