I want to spend my life 00:00:02.03\00:00:07.47 Mending broken people 00:00:07.87\00:00:12.61 I want to spend my life 00:00:12.94\00:00:18.51 Removing pain 00:00:19.18\00:00:23.55 Lord, let my words 00:00:24.29\00:00:29.02 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:30.46\00:00:34.46 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.90\00:00:39.93 Mending broken people 00:00:40.70\00:00:45.11 I want to spend my life 00:00:46.11\00:00:51.18 Mending broken people 00:00:51.78\00:00:56.22 Hello, I'm Shelley Quinn, and we welcome 00:01:09.76\00:01:11.73 you once again to 3ABN Today and just want 00:01:11.83\00:01:15.10 to take this opportunity to thank you for your 00:01:15.17\00:01:18.71 prayers and your love and your financial 00:01:18.77\00:01:20.74 support of 3ABN, the Mending Broken 00:01:20.81\00:01:23.38 People Network. I'm excited about our 00:01:23.45\00:01:26.21 special guests today. But before I introduce 00:01:26.28\00:01:28.62 them, let me read to you something that, to 00:01:28.75\00:01:32.19 me, is such a beautiful promise. It's something 00:01:32.25\00:01:36.73 that Jesus said in John 17:3. He said, "This 00:01:36.76\00:01:41.23 is eternal life that they should know You, 00:01:41.30\00:01:45.00 the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom 00:01:45.03\00:01:49.27 You have sent." Do you realize eternal life is 00:01:49.34\00:01:53.38 not a list of "dos and don'ts." Eternal life 00:01:53.51\00:01:56.61 is to have a relationship with a loving Heavenly 00:01:56.68\00:02:01.75 Father and to know Him in an intimate way. 00:02:01.82\00:02:05.65 That's the way He wants to know you. And I 00:02:05.72\00:02:08.82 tell you what! I think that all three of our 00:02:08.89\00:02:11.89 guests here today have found that secret, so 00:02:11.99\00:02:15.16 let me introduce you to our special guests. 00:02:15.23\00:02:18.07 First, we have John Youngberg. John, we're 00:02:18.13\00:02:21.50 so glad you're with us today! - Thank you 00:02:21.54\00:02:24.24 so much! I'm so happy to be here. - And you 00:02:24.31\00:02:26.91 are the co-founder of WIN Wellness; that's correct? 00:02:26.98\00:02:30.35 - That's right. - Well, we're going to get back 00:02:30.38\00:02:32.01 to you. You've got a PhD. He said, "Don't 00:02:32.08\00:02:35.48 bother about calling me "Doctor." This is a 00:02:35.58\00:02:38.82 man who has spent a lifetime in service to 00:02:38.92\00:02:44.09 the Lord, and that's special. Then, we have 00:02:44.16\00:02:47.50 Candice Hollingsead. Did I say it right? 00:02:47.56\00:02:50.37 - Yes. - Good! Candice, you're an educator. 00:02:50.43\00:02:53.13 - Yes, I am an educator. - And what do you do 00:02:53.23\00:02:55.70 with WIN Wellness? - I actually volunteer 00:02:55.74\00:02:59.17 to help WIN Wellness and John in the ministry 00:02:59.24\00:03:03.14 one day a week. For sure, one day a week. 00:03:03.21\00:03:06.85 Sometimes more, and just do whatever he needs. 00:03:06.92\00:03:10.19 - Praise God. - Including haul away some brush out 00:03:10.82\00:03:12.72 of his yard. [laughter] - Praise God. Well, 00:03:12.79\00:03:15.79 we appreciate that so much. Then, we have 00:03:15.86\00:03:18.63 Pastor Allen Dybdahl. Boy, I'll tell you- you're 00:03:18.69\00:03:22.86 going to want to catch this man's testimony 00:03:22.93\00:03:25.27 sometime, because it's amazing how God is 00:03:25.33\00:03:27.64 using him. But you are a vice president for WIN 00:03:27.70\00:03:31.71 Wellness. - Correct. - And kind of the director 00:03:31.77\00:03:33.98 of marketing; is that correct? - Yes, that 00:03:34.08\00:03:35.58 is correct. Marketing and sales. - Well, we 00:03:35.64\00:03:37.51 are very pleased to have the three of you. Before 00:03:37.58\00:03:42.38 we get kicked off into this story-and boy, 00:03:42.48\00:03:45.89 we got some exciting stories to share with 00:03:45.95\00:03:47.86 you-first, we have our very own Tammy Chance 00:03:47.92\00:03:51.13 that's Danny's sister. I love the way she sings. 00:03:51.23\00:03:55.83 My husband has already asked her. There's one 00:03:55.90\00:03:57.73 song she sings, he said, "If I go before 00:03:57.83\00:04:00.60 you, I want you to sing that at my funeral." 00:04:00.67\00:04:02.67 But Tammy's going to sing for us, "Because of Who You Are." 00:04:02.74\00:04:07.38 You spoke the words and all the worlds came into order 00:04:15.58\00:04:22.02 You raised Your hands and planets filled the empty skies 00:04:22.12\00:04:29.56 You placed a woman and a man inside the garden 00:04:29.66\00:04:35.67 And though they failed, they found compassion in Your eyes 00:04:36.30\00:04:43.14 Oh, Lord, I stand amazed at the wonder of it all 00:04:43.24\00:04:50.79 Yet, a greater wonder brings me to my knees 00:04:51.09\00:04:57.13 Lord, I praise You because of who You are 00:04:57.46\00:05:03.30 Not for all the mighty deeds that You have done 00:05:04.27\00:05:10.81 Lord, I worship You because of who You are 00:05:11.47\00:05:17.65 It's all the reason that I need to voice my praise 00:05:17.98\00:05:23.28 Because of who You are 00:05:23.39\00:05:29.62 One holy night, You sent Your promise from a virgin 00:05:32.53\00:05:38.83 And promise grew till He revealed to us Your heart 00:05:39.30\00:05:46.41 Endearing love displayed throughout Your crucifixion 00:05:46.74\00:05:53.01 And through Your death, You tore the darkened grave apart 00:05:53.42\00:05:59.89 Oh, Lord, I stand amazed at the wonder of it all 00:06:00.26\00:06:07.90 Yet, a greater wonder brings me to my knees 00:06:08.20\00:06:13.84 Lord, I praise You because of who You are 00:06:14.24\00:06:20.68 Not for all the mighty deeds that You have done 00:06:21.21\00:06:27.48 Lord, I worship You because of who You are 00:06:28.02\00:06:34.16 You're all the reason that I need to voice my praise 00:06:34.69\00:06:41.26 Lord, I praise You because of who You are 00:06:41.93\00:06:48.00 Not for all the mighty deeds that You have done 00:06:48.67\00:06:54.88 Lord, I worship You because of who You are 00:06:55.21\00:07:01.82 You're all the reason that I need to voice my praise 00:07:02.38\00:07:08.02 Because of who You are 00:07:08.36\00:07:14.33 Because of who You are 00:07:15.13\00:07:21.04 Because of who You are 00:07:22.57\00:07:32.38 Amen. The wonder of it all. What He did for 00:07:40.29\00:07:42.69 us and who He is. We've thanked Tammy very much. 00:07:42.79\00:07:45.99 Well, if you're joining us just a moment late, 00:07:46.09\00:07:48.00 we have three very special guests. John 00:07:48.10\00:07:50.33 Youngberg, Candice Hollingsead, and Allen 00:07:50.40\00:07:53.67 Dybdahl. We're so glad each and every one of 00:07:53.74\00:07:56.00 you are here. Before we kick off, we've got so 00:07:56.07\00:07:58.47 much to say. Can you give us the Reader's 00:07:58.54\00:08:00.41 Digest version? Just a little bit about your 00:08:00.48\00:08:03.21 life. Were you born in a Christian home? 00:08:03.28\00:08:05.15 - I was born in a Christian home. My 00:08:05.21\00:08:07.12 parents were missionaries in India. I was born after 00:08:07.18\00:08:10.22 they got back, and I count it a privilege 00:08:10.25\00:08:14.92 to enter the ministry. Went 15 years to 00:08:14.99\00:08:17.86 South America as I minister. Our two 00:08:17.93\00:08:22.06 sons and my first wife were born in Chile. 00:08:22.13\00:08:25.53 Incidentally, my oldest son is flying to Chile 00:08:28.50\00:08:31.81 to help a construction consultant for a few 00:08:32.57\00:08:37.45 days. So, anyhow, my first wife fell ill with 00:08:37.48\00:08:44.05 glioblastoma and unfortunately passed 00:08:44.12\00:08:47.76 away. Some time later, I married Millie. I'm 00:08:47.82\00:08:54.13 sorry to say that I lost her 7 months ago. - And 00:08:54.20\00:08:57.90 I'm so sorry, John. 00:08:58.00\00:08:59.47 - So, the WIN Wellness program was organized 00:08:59.53\00:09:03.07 by Millie and me, and God helped us as we 00:09:03.14\00:09:06.54 carried it to six continents published 00:09:06.64\00:09:09.04 in 31 languages around the world. And in just 00:09:09.11\00:09:12.18 one word, it's about helping people to be 00:09:12.25\00:09:15.38 well in every part of their lives - not only 00:09:15.45\00:09:18.79 biologically, but spiritually, in their 00:09:18.85\00:09:22.26 families... It all works together, and 00:09:22.32\00:09:25.09 that's what we're about- trying to share with 00:09:25.16\00:09:27.46 the world. - Praise God. Thank you so much 00:09:27.53\00:09:29.96 for that. Candice, how about you? Did you also 00:09:30.07\00:09:32.83 grow up in a Christian home? - Yes, I did grow 00:09:32.90\00:09:34.60 up in a Christian home! My father was a pastor, 00:09:34.64\00:09:36.67 so we were very involved in the churches that 00:09:36.74\00:09:39.67 he pastored. - Was he an Adventist Christian? 00:09:39.77\00:09:42.28 - He was an Adventist pastor, yes. My husband 00:09:42.31\00:09:45.45 and I have three children that are grown 00:09:45.51\00:09:47.38 adults (which is very lovely). I retired, 00:09:47.48\00:09:51.15 and when I retired, I found myself with little 00:09:51.19\00:09:55.02 to do. So, my husband said, "Well, why don't 00:09:55.06\00:09:57.83 you join a grow group?" I looked through the 00:09:57.89\00:10:01.30 catalogue in our church to- - What is a grow group? 00:10:01.36\00:10:04.13 - A grow group is a small group of people, 00:10:04.20\00:10:06.20 like a caring group or a study group that 00:10:06.33\00:10:08.67 get together in a home and study a specific 00:10:08.77\00:10:12.61 topic. In our church, there's a variety of 00:10:12.71\00:10:17.25 them- everything from riding a motorcycle or 00:10:17.31\00:10:19.48 going golfing or going boating or studying 00:10:19.55\00:10:21.88 health issues. So I said to my husband, 00:10:21.95\00:10:24.65 "I think I'll join this John and Millie's 00:10:24.72\00:10:26.25 grow group." - That was wonderful. - They're 00:10:26.35\00:10:28.99 lovely people! So I went, and from then 00:10:29.06\00:10:32.93 on, oh my. My life did change. - Praise God. 00:10:33.06\00:10:37.70 I know that, John, you said your middle 00:10:37.77\00:10:40.17 name is "Small Groups," right? [John laughs] 00:10:40.24\00:10:43.10 Thatta boy. I'll tell ya! - And so, I volunteer- 00:10:43.17\00:10:47.21 I'm sorry. So I volunteer once a week because I 00:10:47.28\00:10:49.94 think that the ministry that John and Millie 00:10:50.01\00:10:52.38 have been involved in is life-changing. - Praise 00:10:52.48\00:10:54.85 God. Praise God. How about you, Allen? - Well, 00:10:54.92\00:10:58.05 unlike these two, I did not grow up in a 00:10:58.09\00:11:01.72 Christian home. My great-grandparents 00:11:01.79\00:11:04.23 were Seventh-Day Adventist Christians, 00:11:04.33\00:11:06.03 and I remember just like it was yesterday. 00:11:06.13\00:11:09.40 I would go to their house probably every 00:11:09.46\00:11:13.13 couple of weeks or so, and they would always 00:11:13.20\00:11:15.60 tell me, when Friday night came, that the 00:11:15.67\00:11:18.21 Sabbath is approaching; "Put your toys away." 00:11:18.27\00:11:20.48 I never forgot that. But as most people do, 00:11:20.54\00:11:23.95 I just went my way until I was in my 20s 00:11:24.05\00:11:27.65 and actually heard about an evangelistic series 00:11:27.68\00:11:31.19 by Kenneth Cox down in Baton Rouge, 00:11:31.29\00:11:34.86 Louisiana in the early 80s. I went there and 00:11:34.92\00:11:37.83 was baptized. - Praise God. - I was very 00:11:37.93\00:11:41.96 interested in spreading the gospel message, so 00:11:42.06\00:11:44.37 I became a literature evangelist and I 00:11:44.43\00:11:46.80 served for 16 years as a literature evangelist 00:11:46.94\00:11:49.90 in different leadership positions. - He was 00:11:49.97\00:11:53.41 also publishing director of the Lake 00:11:53.48\00:11:55.54 Union Conference. - Wonderful. Okay! 00:11:55.61\00:12:00.08 Well now, let's just talk a little bit about 00:12:00.15\00:12:02.85 WIN Wellness. First of all, I want to know what 00:12:02.92\00:12:06.09 WIN stands for, but also, you have a 00:12:06.15\00:12:10.03 unique approach to health, so tell us 00:12:10.13\00:12:13.70 about that. - Well, WIN- we all want to 00:12:13.76\00:12:16.77 be winners, don't we? The WIN is an acronym 00:12:16.80\00:12:20.30 that stands for, "Wellness Integrating 00:12:20.37\00:12:23.81 Needs." So, we start with the needs of people- 00:12:23.84\00:12:28.28 the felt needs-and we move on from there. 00:12:28.38\00:12:31.01 So how does that affect you in your current 00:12:31.08\00:12:35.45 situation? So, WIN Wellness. Important 00:12:35.48\00:12:38.79 in that many people mention health only 00:12:38.89\00:12:42.66 from a biological standpoint. Our program 00:12:42.72\00:12:45.93 includes family wellness- that's where we really 00:12:46.03\00:12:49.00 started from-and it includes a spiritual and mental 00:12:49.06\00:12:53.57 wellness, and includes biological wellness, 00:12:53.64\00:12:56.71 all working together. - So, you have Jesus 00:12:56.74\00:13:00.28 at the center...is basically what your 00:13:00.38\00:13:04.05 approach is, and I think you've brought 00:13:04.11\00:13:05.45 something to show on the screen for that, 00:13:05.48\00:13:10.05 that you make Jesus the center as the 00:13:10.09\00:13:12.95 Healer; is that correct? - That's right. Jesus 00:13:13.02\00:13:15.22 is the great Healer; He's in the center, 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.23 and beyond this then are the various dimensions 00:13:17.29\00:13:20.96 of life which include mind-spirit, spiritual 00:13:21.10\00:13:26.30 wellness; which include the body, with biological 00:13:26.37\00:13:29.80 wellness, then how this is applied in 00:13:29.87\00:13:32.97 relationships: husband-wife relationships, family 00:13:33.04\00:13:38.25 relationships, parents and children. - So, 00:13:38.35\00:13:41.28 the synergy of your approach is that each 00:13:41.32\00:13:46.25 area of our life affects the other. - That's 00:13:46.35\00:13:50.69 right. And we feel that health and wellness is 00:13:50.76\00:13:54.56 not just a question of 8 remedies or this, 00:13:54.66\00:13:57.63 a few... It's actually a combination of all 00:13:57.70\00:14:02.40 of them, which- shall I speak about synergy? 00:14:02.44\00:14:06.07 - Sure! - Synergy, which means the whole 00:14:06.14\00:14:08.54 is greater than the sum of its parts. Well, 00:14:08.64\00:14:12.01 this is taught in the Bible. It says, "Five of 00:14:12.08\00:14:16.25 you will chase 100," in Leviticus 26, "but 00:14:16.28\00:14:20.82 100 of you will chase 10,000." - Okay, so as 00:14:20.89\00:14:25.86 we're looking at this graphic, what does this 00:14:25.93\00:14:27.76 graphic tell us? - It tells us that all of 00:14:27.86\00:14:30.53 these different dimensions of life, of these factors, 00:14:30.60\00:14:34.70 they blend together. So, some people say, 00:14:34.80\00:14:38.27 "Well, which is the most important?" We 00:14:38.37\00:14:40.34 answer with, chuckle, and say, "Well, when 00:14:40.44\00:14:42.48 you're not practicing, that's the most important." 00:14:42.58\00:14:44.78 But they all do something that is more than the 00:14:44.85\00:14:48.28 sum of their individual contribution. When you 00:14:48.35\00:14:52.55 blend them all together, things really begin 00:14:52.62\00:14:56.02 to happen in the health and the spiritual outlook 00:14:56.09\00:14:59.03 of the hope and longevity. - Yes. Now, as you 00:14:59.09\00:15:03.47 and Millie... How long were you and Millie 00:15:03.50\00:15:05.90 married? - Millie and I were married 46 years. 00:15:06.00\00:15:08.77 - 46. I know you're still going through the 00:15:08.84\00:15:12.71 adjustment, trying to find a new rhythm to 00:15:12.77\00:15:14.84 life without her and I'm sorry for your loss, 00:15:14.91\00:15:17.98 but you and Millie evidently made a really 00:15:18.08\00:15:22.68 dynamic team. - I run to keep up with 00:15:22.75\00:15:27.32 her. [laughter] - It's true! - But you had 00:15:27.36\00:15:30.26 an individual that- she was talking with 00:15:30.33\00:15:34.06 who was not a Christian, and something really 00:15:34.13\00:15:37.73 interesting happened. Tell us about that. 00:15:37.77\00:15:39.80 - The momentous moment in our life, we were in 00:15:39.87\00:15:41.70 Pune, India, and there we were. We were 00:15:41.74\00:15:46.04 finishing a seminar. One kind gentleman 00:15:46.11\00:15:48.78 had bought flowers every night and decorated the 00:15:48.88\00:15:51.45 auditorium, and we found out he was a 00:15:51.51\00:15:55.12 Hindu, and that was wonderful. The last 00:15:55.18\00:15:59.32 night, we were saying goodbye to the people 00:15:59.39\00:16:02.09 and Millie was praying with one and another, 00:16:02.19\00:16:05.19 and this gentleman approached one of 00:16:05.26\00:16:06.70 the directors and said, "Would Millie pray with 00:16:06.76\00:16:11.43 me?" So, the man came and said to Millie, 00:16:11.50\00:16:15.20 "This gentleman wants you to pray with him." 00:16:15.27\00:16:17.74 So, she walks over to where he is and says, 00:16:17.81\00:16:20.78 "Would you like me to pray for you?" "Yes." 00:16:20.84\00:16:24.31 "And what would you like me to pray about?" 00:16:24.41\00:16:26.65 We will never forget the answer. Only two 00:16:26.75\00:16:31.82 words, from a Hindu which, sometimes, 00:16:31.92\00:16:34.82 people think, "Well, they're pagans." Well, 00:16:34.89\00:16:38.06 I don't like the word 'pagan,' but, Hindus- 00:16:38.13\00:16:40.70 wonderful people. And this Hindu says just 00:16:40.76\00:16:43.30 two words: "More Jesus." - Woo! - And wow. Almost 00:16:43.37\00:16:48.27 a life-changing two words. - I think you 00:16:48.34\00:16:52.51 brought a picture of him. I want to be sure 00:16:52.57\00:16:54.51 to show that picture. Who's with him in this 00:16:54.58\00:16:59.05 picture? - I'm in the middle, and the 00:16:59.11\00:17:02.45 gentleman I'm speaking of is on the right. 00:17:02.55\00:17:04.95 - In the blue. - And he's a Hindu. Just 00:17:05.05\00:17:09.46 last year, he was baptized in the 00:17:09.52\00:17:12.66 Seventh-Day Adventist Church. - Glory! - As 00:17:12.73\00:17:14.96 a Christian. But he- the big thing for him was 00:17:15.03\00:17:18.27 finding out who Jesus was and more Jesus. 00:17:18.33\00:17:22.04 - So, I love the approach that you take, because 00:17:22.10\00:17:25.17 I know you've got a number of books and 00:17:25.24\00:17:27.64 we'll talk about them, but you have your WIN 00:17:27.71\00:17:31.48 Wellness- there's... We'll talk about these 00:17:31.51\00:17:33.68 books in just a moment, Getting Started, 00:17:33.78\00:17:36.05 Pressing Forward, Finishing Strong... 00:17:36.15\00:17:38.29 But after your encounter with this man, and I 00:17:38.39\00:17:43.49 know all of your books are based on Jesus. 00:17:43.59\00:17:47.10 I love your approach. - But here, we put it 00:17:47.16\00:17:49.40 all together. We had a bit of this, bit of 00:17:49.46\00:17:52.50 that in the other books; but here, we 00:17:52.57\00:17:55.40 started with Jesus and was all about Jesus. 00:17:55.47\00:17:58.47 - Okay. So this Hindu... What was his first 00:17:58.57\00:18:00.91 name? Do you remember? - I'm sorry, I don't know. 00:18:00.98\00:18:03.31 - Okay. He, though, was the catalyst for 00:18:03.38\00:18:06.18 you and Millie to write this book. - In our 00:18:06.25\00:18:08.78 thoughts, yes. - Jesus- Who Is He? Tell us 00:18:08.82\00:18:12.12 about the book. - Well, the book took two years 00:18:12.19\00:18:15.89 to write. It wasn't written in a fortnight. 00:18:15.96\00:18:20.66 We wrote it from an eyewitness standpoint. 00:18:20.73\00:18:25.77 Like, you're there and you're seeing this 00:18:25.87\00:18:29.67 and somebody who has been talking to Jesus is 00:18:29.77\00:18:32.91 telling his or her story of what Jesus did with 00:18:33.01\00:18:36.68 them. So, in the 20 chapters- we've been 00:18:36.75\00:18:41.98 very fortunate. In those 20 chapters, we have 00:18:42.02\00:18:44.95 them illustrated by none less than Nathan 00:18:45.02\00:18:48.69 Greene. - We're going to show one of those 00:18:48.76\00:18:51.66 illustrations in just a moment when we 00:18:51.73\00:18:53.60 come to that chapter. - So, anyhow, it's 00:18:53.66\00:18:57.27 changed lives and I will just tell one very 00:18:57.33\00:19:00.37 brief encounter of the book with someone 00:19:00.47\00:19:04.67 who needed it. A lady in hospice hadn't 00:19:04.77\00:19:09.04 eaten for two days, hadn't slept, and the 00:19:09.11\00:19:15.72 minister came to-Ellen is her name-and says, 00:19:15.78\00:19:20.49 "You know, I've got a book here. I'd like to 00:19:20.56\00:19:24.03 read you a chapter about Jesus. Who is He?" 00:19:24.09\00:19:27.73 She read about Jesus calming the storm. 00:19:27.80\00:19:31.33 Then, the lady listened attentively. That night, 00:19:33.00\00:19:39.31 she slept all night long after that. She says, 00:19:39.41\00:19:43.18 "I know who's in my case- Who's in my health. It's Jesus. 00:19:43.24\00:19:50.25 He was here with me." He says the next day, 00:19:50.35\00:19:54.89 she ate a good breakfast, then her son came to 00:19:54.96\00:19:58.79 visit her, then she lay down to sleep and 00:19:58.86\00:20:04.23 never woke up. But she knew who was with 00:20:04.30\00:20:09.50 her in her life was Jesus. - Who is He to 00:20:09.60\00:20:13.68 you? - Well, I'm a sinner saved by grace, 00:20:13.71\00:20:18.75 and Jesus is the most wonderful thing in my 00:20:18.81\00:20:23.62 life. It makes life worth living; it makes 00:20:23.69\00:20:26.76 it worth getting up in the morning; it makes 00:20:26.86\00:20:29.62 it worth sharing with other people. He is 00:20:29.72\00:20:32.29 my best friend. He's my all in all. - Amen! 00:20:32.33\00:20:36.36 And that's through many, many years, 00:20:36.40\00:20:39.50 many heartaches, many valleys, many mountaintops, 00:20:39.57\00:20:44.41 but He never let you down, did He? - I wrote 00:20:44.47\00:20:48.18 down a list, "God: Who Is He?" and in that list, 00:20:48.24\00:20:51.95 I have 111 different names of the Holy 00:20:52.01\00:20:56.45 Spirit and about 300 different names of God 00:20:56.52\00:21:00.49 and Jesus. He's all that to you, dear listener, 00:21:00.56\00:21:06.39 dear watcher, but He's more than that. He is 00:21:06.43\00:21:10.60 something special in your life. You can have 00:21:10.67\00:21:13.57 your own names for Jesus: best Friend, 00:21:13.64\00:21:15.77 wonderful Guide, whatever it is- all names of Jesus. 00:21:15.84\00:21:20.98 - Amen. Who is He to you, Candice? - I think 00:21:21.04\00:21:25.15 that the chapters in this book exemplify 00:21:25.21\00:21:28.25 exactly who He can be to a person. For example, 00:21:28.32\00:21:33.02 in chapter 8, it talks about brokenness to 00:21:33.09\00:21:36.56 wholeness, and it's actually the story 00:21:36.62\00:21:39.23 about the woman at the well. How many of us 00:21:39.33\00:21:45.13 are broken? We all are broken, but Jesus can 00:21:45.17\00:21:49.90 lead us to holiness. That is who Jesus is 00:21:49.97\00:21:54.04 to me and what this book is. That's probably 00:21:54.11\00:21:56.44 my favorite chapter in the book, because 00:21:56.51\00:21:59.08 everybody needs Jesus to bring them to wholeness. 00:21:59.18\00:22:02.75 It's really important and so glorious when 00:22:02.82\00:22:06.52 He does. There's another chapter that's about 00:22:06.55\00:22:09.19 being lost and found and reminds me of who 00:22:09.26\00:22:15.06 Jesus is, that He is wanting to find everyone. 00:22:15.13\00:22:20.54 Everyone! So, if you have a child that has 00:22:20.60\00:22:24.17 strayed, the Bible promises that the 00:22:24.24\00:22:27.08 children will be restored to their parents. If 00:22:27.14\00:22:29.88 we believe in Jesus, He will help to restore 00:22:29.94\00:22:33.88 and mend those family relations. - Amen. And 00:22:33.95\00:22:37.52 praise God that He does not want anyone 00:22:37.55\00:22:41.02 to perish. - No! He wants to save everyone! 00:22:41.09\00:22:43.63 Every single person. So, that brokenness 00:22:43.73\00:22:48.73 to wholeness and that lost to found are so 00:22:48.76\00:22:51.17 important. That's who Jesus is. - So, I know 00:22:51.23\00:22:54.17 that the final chapter is on the Second Coming 00:22:54.24\00:23:00.68 of Jesus Christ. Now, this is one of the 00:23:00.74\00:23:04.65 illustrations of Nathan Greene that we wanted 00:23:04.71\00:23:08.32 to show you. It's in the book because this 00:23:08.35\00:23:10.72 is such an amazing painting, but there's 00:23:10.79\00:23:14.16 something of real personal interest to you, John. 00:23:14.19\00:23:19.09 Tell us what. - As you look at the picture, 00:23:19.16\00:23:21.40 down on the right over by three people from 00:23:21.46\00:23:24.53 the corner, woman in her pink sweater, that's 00:23:24.63\00:23:30.07 my own dear Millie. I'm behind her in a 00:23:30.11\00:23:33.48 light blue. Yes, we will be waiting for Jesus. 00:23:33.51\00:23:38.85 I thought she might be among the living; 00:23:38.91\00:23:41.25 she's going to be one of those who are raised 00:23:41.32\00:23:43.69 from the dead. This wonderful picture Nathan 00:23:43.79\00:23:46.59 Greene- I think it's his best. Every one 00:23:46.65\00:23:50.16 of those angels has a human face, and these 00:23:50.23\00:23:53.33 people- they are real people. That angel 00:23:53.40\00:23:59.23 who's taking this little girl over from the grave, 00:23:59.40\00:24:02.74 her mother receiving this little girl, a 00:24:02.80\00:24:06.14 four-year-old little girl who caught leukemia 00:24:06.21\00:24:10.15 and was laid in the grave. That is the 00:24:10.21\00:24:12.85 dress that she was buried in. We see it 00:24:12.91\00:24:16.08 there, and the parents receiving her. You, viewer, maybe you 00:24:16.15\00:24:21.12 have some people who will be there, also, 00:24:21.19\00:24:23.49 when Jesus comes. That'll be wonderful- when we 00:24:23.56\00:24:28.10 rise up to meet Him together in the clouds. 00:24:28.13\00:24:31.23 - Oh, amen and amen. Allen? - Shelley, I 00:24:31.33\00:24:34.20 just can't stand it any longer. I gotta share, 00:24:34.27\00:24:36.27 especially with this picture we just saw 00:24:36.37\00:24:38.87 of Nathan Greene's. One day, I put an ad in the 00:24:38.94\00:24:42.64 paper for a lawn mower I wanted to sell, and 00:24:42.71\00:24:46.05 this lady responded and she came. When she got 00:24:46.08\00:24:49.18 there, we talked a little bit and she said, 00:24:49.22\00:24:50.65 "I don't know why I drove 50 miles to see 00:24:50.72\00:24:52.95 this lawn mower. I really didn't need to 00:24:53.02\00:24:54.52 drive that much." So we talked a little bit. 00:24:54.62\00:24:56.76 She's a member of one of the largest churches 00:24:56.83\00:24:59.26 in northern Indiana- Protestant churches. 00:24:59.33\00:25:02.93 So we talked a little bit, and I said, "I 00:25:03.00\00:25:04.63 got something before you leave." She did 00:25:04.67\00:25:06.60 buy the lawn mower, by the way. So I turned 00:25:06.67\00:25:08.60 the book to that page with Nathan Greene's 00:25:08.70\00:25:11.14 painting on there; didn't say a word. I 00:25:11.24\00:25:12.74 turn it and handed her the book, and she said, 00:25:12.84\00:25:16.64 "Do you believe that?" I said, "Yes, I do believe 00:25:16.71\00:25:20.42 it with all my heart." She said, "I do, too!" 00:25:20.48\00:25:24.19 She said, "My church I go to does not teach 00:25:24.25\00:25:26.65 this." - They don't teach the Second Coming? 00:25:26.72\00:25:29.02 - Neither does the pastor. - Wow. - And she said, 00:25:29.12\00:25:31.39 "Now, I know why I drove 50 miles." 00:25:31.46\00:25:34.96 Because of just showing her the picture. And 00:25:35.06\00:25:38.07 I must add this since I'm the marketing director: 00:25:38.17\00:25:40.27 I encourage everybody to have books in their 00:25:40.34\00:25:43.47 homes where they can share it with whoever 00:25:43.54\00:25:46.11 comes and works on their house or whatever 00:25:46.17\00:25:48.74 the case may be. Anybody! I bought 4 cases 00:25:48.84\00:25:52.21 already, so I share them with everybody I meet. 00:25:52.31\00:25:54.72 I've had some wonderful experiences. Gotta 00:25:54.78\00:25:57.72 share another one about that same book, too. 00:25:57.79\00:26:00.39 In the American College of Lifestyle Medicine- 00:26:00.46\00:26:04.49 every year- we were in Tucson last year, 00:26:04.59\00:26:10.17 last October, and we had a nice little brochure 00:26:10.23\00:26:13.80 sitting out there that showed, "Jesus-Who 00:26:13.87\00:26:15.60 Is He?" and the books, and I was standing there 00:26:15.67\00:26:18.24 by the booth. A man came by and he looked 00:26:18.31\00:26:20.54 at the poster, he looked at me, he looked at the 00:26:20.58\00:26:23.55 poster again... He goes, "Jesus... Who is He?" 00:26:23.61\00:26:26.68 to me. I'll never forget. I said, "Brother, He's 00:26:27.72\00:26:34.16 my Savior and He wants to be yours." And we 00:26:34.22\00:26:37.66 hit it off right then and we became great 00:26:37.69\00:26:40.33 friends. He probably calls me once every other 00:26:40.40\00:26:42.70 week. - Really! - He loves Jesus. I tell you, 00:26:42.76\00:26:47.94 that book will bring so many people to the 00:26:48.00\00:26:50.17 Lord. I just love it. - Why do you- I mean, 00:26:50.24\00:26:55.51 that's a huge statement, to say that this book 00:26:55.54\00:26:59.05 will bring so many people to the Lord. 00:26:59.15\00:27:00.62 You've got, obviously, stories, but why do you 00:27:00.68\00:27:04.45 think it is? This is a simple- I mean, these 00:27:04.55\00:27:08.96 are beautiful stories; they're simple. Why 00:27:09.02\00:27:10.93 does this touch people and their heart resonate 00:27:10.99\00:27:17.27 with this book? - John chapter 12 verse 32 says, 00:27:17.33\00:27:23.97 "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth 00:27:24.04\00:27:28.24 will draw all peoples to myself," and I 00:27:28.31\00:27:31.91 believe that. - So this- - The center of the gospel. 00:27:32.01\00:27:35.22 - It is the center of the gospel. Without 00:27:35.28\00:27:38.55 Jesus, we don't have a gospel. - Absolutely. 00:27:38.59\00:27:41.72 - We don't have any hope at all. One of 00:27:41.79\00:27:45.09 the chapters is about the resurrection. If 00:27:45.13\00:27:47.56 Jesus didn't rise- if He didn't die for our sins 00:27:47.63\00:27:50.83 the second death and then rise, we have nothing! 00:27:50.87\00:27:54.70 We have absolutely nothing. But because 00:27:54.77\00:27:56.91 He did die on the cross, He did do the 00:27:56.97\00:27:59.57 second death for us. He took that for ME 00:27:59.64\00:28:02.14 and for you. We don't have to die that second 00:28:02.21\00:28:05.91 death! We can claim His life and be 00:28:06.01\00:28:09.12 resurrected, He is the life giver! Why wouldn't 00:28:09.18\00:28:12.45 we want that? - I just have to say for those 00:28:12.55\00:28:16.22 who may be watching and you're going, "Second 00:28:16.29\00:28:18.79 death... What is that?" You need to read 00:28:18.86\00:28:21.20 Revelation which talks about the second death 00:28:21.26\00:28:24.33 twice. That's when people go into the 00:28:24.43\00:28:30.07 final place where all sinners will be annihilated 00:28:30.11\00:28:35.28 at the end, because there are so many 00:28:35.34\00:28:37.81 Christians who believe you're either going to 00:28:37.88\00:28:40.95 have eternal life in heaven or you're going 00:28:40.98\00:28:45.19 to have eternal life in hell, and that's not what the 00:28:45.25\00:28:47.36 Bible teaches! The Bible teaches Jesus 00:28:47.42\00:28:49.92 said, "For God so loved the world, He gave His 00:28:50.03\00:28:52.66 only begotten Son that whosoever believeth 00:28:52.69\00:28:55.70 in Him should not perish but have everlasting 00:28:55.76\00:28:59.60 life." So, those are the two things that 00:28:59.67\00:29:03.44 are being contrasted. What's your favorite 00:29:03.51\00:29:05.91 part of this book? - Well, I would say the 00:29:05.97\00:29:09.64 chapter on Calvary and Gethsemane - the two 00:29:09.71\00:29:14.55 key chapters of the book. What Christ 00:29:14.62\00:29:18.82 suffered in Calvary. We may not have 00:29:18.85\00:29:22.39 realized- pardon me. When He suffered in 00:29:22.46\00:29:24.53 Gethsemane, if after praying three times 00:29:24.59\00:29:28.60 that the cup be removed if it was the Father's 00:29:28.70\00:29:32.47 will. Then finally, He said, "But Thy will be 00:29:32.53\00:29:37.47 done." Whatever must be will be, and I want 00:29:37.54\00:29:42.04 to be- I'm willing to give my life for these 00:29:42.08\00:29:44.98 people. Then, He fell to the earth, I think, 00:29:45.01\00:29:49.18 as a dead man. If God wouldn't have sent the 00:29:49.22\00:29:52.39 angel, Jesus never would've got to Calvary, 00:29:52.42\00:29:55.09 because He would've died right there in 00:29:55.12\00:29:57.53 Gethsemane. It's the greatest decision in 00:29:57.56\00:30:00.43 the history of the world is that Jesus decided 00:30:00.53\00:30:03.73 that He would die for you and for me. - And 00:30:03.80\00:30:07.97 would you want to look- you see these cameras 00:30:08.00\00:30:10.61 over here. When they've got a little red light, 00:30:10.67\00:30:12.37 if you want to talk to the audience, that's 00:30:12.44\00:30:14.48 where you look, because you have got an evangelist's 00:30:14.54\00:30:18.91 heart. There is no if, ands, or buts about 00:30:18.95\00:30:21.48 it. But Allen, I'd like you to, for just a 00:30:21.55\00:30:25.05 minute, talk to us. I know you all brought 00:30:25.12\00:30:27.06 a graphic about the importance of the cross. 00:30:27.12\00:30:30.29 Explain this graphic to us. - Well, as it says, 00:30:30.36\00:30:35.43 Christ's death proved God's great love for 00:30:35.53\00:30:37.83 man. It is our privilege of salvation. To remove 00:30:37.90\00:30:42.30 the cross from the Christian would be like blotting 00:30:42.37\00:30:45.27 the sun from the sky. - What would it be like 00:30:45.34\00:30:50.88 to just live in darkness- total darkness? No 00:30:50.95\00:30:54.58 morning, no sunrise- just eternal night. 00:30:54.65\00:30:59.35 That is trying to have Christianity without a 00:30:59.39\00:31:03.32 cross. - Yes. - Religion without a Jesus. So, 00:31:03.39\00:31:06.93 that's one of my favorite statements- just to 00:31:07.03\00:31:11.10 think that Jesus is the One who brings the 00:31:11.17\00:31:15.87 light into our life, joy into our hearts... 00:31:15.94\00:31:19.54 And yes, viewer, He brings joy into YOUR 00:31:19.61\00:31:24.01 heart and life into your soul. - Amen. Amen. 00:31:24.11\00:31:28.35 Truly, you do have an evangelist's heart. It 00:31:28.42\00:31:30.69 shows. Your eyes twinkle when you're talking 00:31:30.72\00:31:34.09 about Jesus. So, if just for a minute, 00:31:34.16\00:31:39.59 before we kind of change horses here, tell us 00:31:39.66\00:31:45.20 about the experience of you and Millie working 00:31:45.23\00:31:48.10 on this together. - Well, it was life-changing. 00:31:48.17\00:31:53.31 Two whole years... This didn't happen in a moment. 00:31:55.34\00:31:58.51 Two whole years. And of course, Millie, 00:31:58.58\00:32:03.05 after I did most of the writing, she put a lot 00:32:03.12\00:32:07.02 of input into it, and she said, "Well, it's 00:32:07.09\00:32:10.66 still lacking something, John." She said, "I'm 00:32:10.69\00:32:13.86 going to write two more chapters." - I would 00:32:13.93\00:32:16.53 come to their house, and she'd say, "Okay, 00:32:16.56\00:32:19.77 we have another chapter," and I'd say, "That's 00:32:19.83\00:32:22.34 enough! That's enough; stop!" Then I'd come 00:32:22.40\00:32:26.47 the next week. "Oh, we have another chapter!" 00:32:26.54\00:32:28.31 It was really a time of joy for them to write 00:32:28.41\00:32:33.11 that book. Each chapter was incredible. - And 00:32:33.18\00:32:36.89 life-changing. - What I love... You're very 00:32:36.95\00:32:39.95 smart in the way, because this is not 00:32:39.99\00:32:42.82 an overpowering book at all. There's 20 00:32:42.86\00:32:45.16 chapters and they're relatively short so 00:32:45.19\00:32:47.86 you can sit down and read one in a decent 00:32:47.90\00:32:53.17 amount of time. Then you have reflection 00:32:53.23\00:32:56.34 questions afterwards, because that's what's 00:32:56.44\00:32:59.51 important. As we read John 17:3, THAT'S what 00:32:59.57\00:33:03.35 eternal life is all about. This is- we 00:33:03.45\00:33:06.05 have a covenant-keeping God whose heart it 00:33:06.11\00:33:10.49 is to reveal Himself to you who wants to 00:33:10.55\00:33:15.76 draw you near to Him, and He's wooing you 00:33:15.79\00:33:18.56 with His love all the time. You may not 00:33:18.59\00:33:20.63 recognize it, but He wants you to know 00:33:20.66\00:33:23.37 Him as He knows you. So, this is a very 00:33:23.47\00:33:26.97 special book. But I want to kind of transition 00:33:27.04\00:33:30.94 for a second. This book... It's interesting to me, 00:33:31.01\00:33:36.04 'cause if somebody just picked up and read 00:33:36.11\00:33:38.91 this book, they would think, "Oh, they're 00:33:38.95\00:33:41.62 evangelists." This is a precious way to look 00:33:41.68\00:33:46.39 at Jesus and come to know who He is, but you 00:33:46.45\00:33:50.26 said something so interesting. WIN 00:33:50.33\00:33:54.10 Wellness, you have a series of three books 00:33:54.16\00:33:57.77 here: book #1, 2, and 3. This is Getting Started, 00:33:57.80\00:34:03.24 On the Path to Health and Healing, Pressing 00:34:03.30\00:34:06.57 Forward on the Path to Health and Healing, 00:34:06.64\00:34:10.11 and Finishing Strong on the Path of Health 00:34:10.18\00:34:13.72 and Healing. But you said in the very 00:34:13.78\00:34:16.99 beginning, it was the little Hindu man's 00:34:17.02\00:34:20.92 comment to Millie. "More Jesus." That's 00:34:20.99\00:34:25.29 what he wanted. You said that's what brought 00:34:25.33\00:34:28.93 this fourth book, Jesus- Who Is He? And you 00:34:29.03\00:34:31.77 said it came from these wellness books. So, 00:34:31.80\00:34:35.20 you've got these stories then integrated in the 00:34:35.27\00:34:38.97 wellness books? - Yes. You see, we had Jesus 00:34:39.04\00:34:43.78 in every chapter, but, you know, a little Jesus 00:34:43.85\00:34:48.05 here, a little Jesus there, and we said, 00:34:48.08\00:34:50.45 "Hey, we've got to put this whole thing 00:34:50.52\00:34:52.09 together, because even if it's nutrition we're 00:34:52.15\00:34:56.83 talking about, we're talking about Jesus is 00:34:56.86\00:34:58.99 the Bread of Life." So, Jesus was there, 00:34:59.06\00:35:04.27 but we need to look at Him in His own right, 00:35:04.33\00:35:07.94 so we start with Him, front and center, and 00:35:08.00\00:35:11.47 we just dedicated a book because He is 00:35:11.54\00:35:15.88 the great Healer. Now, if you're into the 00:35:15.94\00:35:19.25 book ministry healing- shall I mention that 00:35:19.31\00:35:21.58 now? - Sure! - The book ministry healing- 00:35:21.65\00:35:23.85 a famous quote from this book speaks of 00:35:23.92\00:35:29.96 8 natural remedies. This is on page 127. 00:35:30.03\00:35:33.70 Yes, there are 8 natural remedies that 00:35:33.76\00:35:38.37 are very important, but the book also has 7 00:35:38.40\00:35:42.90 chapters on the family! And many people, they 00:35:42.97\00:35:45.61 don't think of the family when they think 00:35:45.67\00:35:49.18 of healing. But there are a lot of family 00:35:49.24\00:35:52.65 questions that need to be also dealt with. 00:35:52.71\00:35:55.88 So there, when we deal with the family, we 00:35:55.95\00:35:59.65 are dealing with such subjects as the crisis 00:35:59.72\00:36:05.36 in the family. A healthy family shows appreciation. 00:36:05.43\00:36:09.86 When I say, "I appreciate what you do and who 00:36:09.93\00:36:13.30 you are." A healthy family shows commitment- 00:36:13.37\00:36:17.04 husband to wife, wife to husband. A healthy 00:36:17.11\00:36:20.54 family spends time together. There is no 00:36:20.58\00:36:23.38 healthy family without time that we spend 00:36:23.45\00:36:26.05 together. A healthy family is one that has 00:36:26.11\00:36:31.32 social support. And finally, the most important 00:36:31.39\00:36:35.36 of all of them is love. Really, the key thing 00:36:35.42\00:36:39.73 in these three books, the key factor is love. 00:36:39.76\00:36:43.80 That's what blends it all together. It blends 00:36:43.87\00:36:48.60 all of these 21 different factors. There are 00:36:48.64\00:36:52.81 29 chapters, because some of the chapters 00:36:52.84\00:36:55.91 have to have two chapters dealing with one factor 00:36:55.94\00:37:00.98 such as love. So, someone said, "Which 00:37:01.05\00:37:07.22 is the most important one of all?" "It's the 00:37:07.26\00:37:09.62 one you're not doing." [Shelley laughs] In 00:37:09.66\00:37:13.06 every chapter of the book, we start out with a 00:37:13.09\00:37:17.30 gripping story. We move onto what science says 00:37:17.37\00:37:21.64 on this subject- recent scientific findings. 00:37:21.70\00:37:25.24 Then we said, "Now what does the Bible say on 00:37:25.31\00:37:28.64 that same subject?" So we have: the first I 00:37:28.71\00:37:34.08 is Interest, the second I is Information, the 00:37:34.15\00:37:39.35 third I is Inspiration! Then the fourth I is 00:37:39.42\00:37:44.39 Intentionality. What are you- what am I 00:37:44.46\00:37:48.40 going to do about it? Now, we're not quite 00:37:48.46\00:37:50.30 that blunt. But in other words, to say, 00:37:50.37\00:37:52.97 "Well, next week, when we come back together- 00:37:53.03\00:37:54.97 this week, we're talking about water! And you 00:37:55.04\00:37:58.54 made your own goals! Let's see. Did you have 00:37:58.64\00:38:01.04 any goal? Next week, I'm going to ask you, 00:38:01.08\00:38:03.35 'Have you reached that goal or done something 00:38:03.45\00:38:06.51 toward that goal during this week?'" So, they 00:38:06.58\00:38:10.42 share together, and that is encouraging when 00:38:10.49\00:38:13.29 I find out Candice says, "Yeah, I drink 00:38:13.36\00:38:16.32 my eight glasses a day," and Allen says, "I did 00:38:16.39\00:38:20.10 this," then that brings it to life to see real 00:38:20.16\00:38:25.23 people and not just an abstract factor out there. 00:38:25.30\00:38:28.44 - So, I have to tell you a story about a gentleman 00:38:28.54\00:38:30.71 that came to one of the small groups, and we 00:38:30.81\00:38:33.51 were studying book one in this 3-book series. 00:38:33.58\00:38:37.41 His name's John Ehn, and he had gone to 00:38:37.45\00:38:41.52 a wellness seminar at an Adventist church 00:38:41.55\00:38:45.12 and found out about the small group studies 00:38:45.22\00:38:48.42 on health and wellness at John and Millie's 00:38:48.46\00:38:50.33 house. It was actually the same small group 00:38:50.36\00:38:53.90 that I had joined. He's not Adventist. He brought- 00:38:53.96\00:38:58.63 he and another friend named Dale came. As we 00:38:58.70\00:39:04.14 were going, he was making changes and we would 00:39:04.21\00:39:08.04 press the intentionality and he'd say, "Oh, 00:39:08.11\00:39:11.01 I'm just making small steps, just taking 00:39:11.08\00:39:13.25 small steps." Then, all of a sudden, it was, 00:39:13.31\00:39:16.05 "Well, I gave up eating pork. I don't think 00:39:16.08\00:39:18.82 that's good, and I've decided not to drink 00:39:18.85\00:39:20.96 anymore. I don't think that's good for my 00:39:21.02\00:39:23.39 body." And as we went, it just got more and 00:39:23.46\00:39:26.56 more serious until we started to come to 00:39:26.59\00:39:28.80 the end of the 10 weeks. Then, he just 00:39:28.83\00:39:32.80 shocked us all by saying-'cause we 00:39:32.83\00:39:36.14 were coming to the end-he said, "Well, 00:39:36.20\00:39:37.81 what are we going to do next?" I said, "Well, 00:39:37.87\00:39:39.94 I think we have some time off before we 00:39:40.01\00:39:42.51 start the next grow group." And he said, 00:39:42.54\00:39:44.35 "Well, I can't do that!" We said to him, "Dale, 00:39:44.41\00:39:48.28 well then, what do you want to do?" He said, 00:39:48.35\00:39:50.99 "Well, let's study the Bible!" - Praise God. 00:39:51.02\00:39:54.42 - So, we just said, "Well, what do you 00:39:54.49\00:39:55.92 want to study in the Bible?" He'd tell us 00:39:55.99\00:39:59.73 and we'd make Bible studies. My husband 00:39:59.79\00:40:02.16 and John and Millie would make a Bible 00:40:02.23\00:40:03.57 study and then he and Dale would come, and 00:40:03.63\00:40:06.30 he was baptized and Dale was baptized! 00:40:06.33\00:40:10.07 And now, Dale's wife is studying with John, 00:40:10.14\00:40:12.77 as well. This John went on to host his 00:40:12.84\00:40:15.48 own grow group in another town. - This John visitor... 00:40:15.54\00:40:19.71 - The one that was baptized. Yes! It's 00:40:19.98\00:40:22.65 like it multiplies in this synergy. That is 00:40:22.68\00:40:28.52 just amazing. It's just miraculous when 00:40:28.59\00:40:30.49 you watch it happening. - But you know, I think 00:40:30.56\00:40:32.76 that- I have this saying, that rules 00:40:32.79\00:40:37.80 without relationship result in rebellion. 00:40:37.87\00:40:42.47 If you grow up just hearing, "Don't do 00:40:42.54\00:40:45.14 this, don't do that, don't do this, don't 00:40:45.21\00:40:46.81 do that," it's kind of like if you don't have 00:40:46.88\00:40:49.34 that relationship with Jesus, it makes you 00:40:49.41\00:40:52.61 want to rebel. But what happened here is 00:40:52.68\00:40:55.32 you obviously introduced him to the great Healer 00:40:55.38\00:40:59.12 and he was attracted to Jesus, and that's 00:40:59.19\00:41:02.62 where the intentionality- that's the root of it. 00:41:02.69\00:41:05.53 - And now, he's out there winning other 00:41:05.59\00:41:06.96 people to Jesus. - Yes, that's right. - Praise God; 00:41:07.03\00:41:08.96 amen. Allen, how did you get connected here? 00:41:09.03\00:41:13.54 - Good question. I live about a block away 00:41:13.60\00:41:17.21 from them. I never met them up until about 3 00:41:17.24\00:41:20.81 years ago. My wife's mother worked for them 00:41:20.88\00:41:23.81 as their secretary years ago, and so I was 00:41:23.85\00:41:27.52 raking leaves in my yard, and I saw these 00:41:27.58\00:41:30.39 two people come by (and it was John and 00:41:30.45\00:41:33.09 Millie). - They walk. - They walk constantly. 00:41:33.15\00:41:36.29 Millie said something to me and I responded, 00:41:36.32\00:41:39.13 and she invited me to one of their Friday 00:41:39.19\00:41:41.90 night meetings, which they've had for how 00:41:41.96\00:41:43.67 many years now, John? - Forever? - 30 years, 00:41:43.73\00:41:48.14 probably? - Were you already a pastor, or no? 00:41:48.20\00:41:50.37 - Oh, yes. So, I saw them, so my wife and I 00:41:50.41\00:41:57.78 went. We went there, and there's like 40 00:41:57.85\00:42:00.85 people at this house. At John and Millie's 00:42:00.92\00:42:03.89 house. - On a Friday night. - On a Friday night. 00:42:03.92\00:42:06.15 - That's not their original small grow 00:42:06.25\00:42:07.62 group; that's- they just have a meeting 00:42:07.69\00:42:09.52 at their house every Friday night. People 00:42:09.56\00:42:11.06 just show up. - They could not survive without 00:42:11.13\00:42:12.89 meetings. So, it was a blessing. Then you 00:42:12.96\00:42:15.76 know what I've learned? As an Adventist, I 00:42:15.83\00:42:18.87 kind of got away from a few things, you know- 00:42:18.93\00:42:20.44 eating right and different, bad habits 00:42:20.54\00:42:24.57 that you get. Then, I started watching John 00:42:24.64\00:42:28.34 and Millie, then they're teaching about the 00:42:28.41\00:42:31.28 water; never drank enough water, so I've 00:42:31.35\00:42:33.72 started to drink water. I was a little bit overweight. 00:42:33.78\00:42:35.68 My knees started hurting- joints. I could never 00:42:36.65\00:42:40.46 figure- it was just a year ago, and they 00:42:40.56\00:42:42.89 started preaching to me, and I was listening. 00:42:42.96\00:42:46.86 I appreciate that so much about John and 00:42:46.93\00:42:49.86 Millie. It really helped me to realize, "You know, 00:42:49.90\00:42:53.40 I gotta do something." I'm 62 now, so things 00:42:53.44\00:42:56.20 start hurting, you know? With all these lifestyle 00:42:56.30\00:42:59.67 adjustments that I have made, it's been such a 00:42:59.77\00:43:03.21 blessing to me. I feel better now, I can walk 00:43:03.28\00:43:06.61 better, more easily, and it's just been such 00:43:06.68\00:43:09.48 a blessing. One of the biggest things that 00:43:09.55\00:43:11.42 John and Millie really taught was after you 00:43:11.49\00:43:14.96 eat your meal, go for a walk. - Yes. - And it's 00:43:15.02\00:43:18.89 really helped me tremendously and I thank you for that. 00:43:18.93\00:43:21.80 Can I say one more thing about Millie? 00:43:21.86\00:43:23.87 - Absolutely! - We live right down the street, 00:43:23.97\00:43:26.97 and the moment she passed away, we got 00:43:27.04\00:43:29.44 the call. It's about 2:15 in the morning. So 00:43:29.50\00:43:33.17 we went over there, and there's our dear, sweet 00:43:33.21\00:43:36.61 Millie. The nurse came to make the pronouncement. 00:43:36.64\00:43:40.88 She had something in her life that she 00:43:44.39\00:43:45.95 wanted to just- she felt like she can share 00:43:46.02\00:43:48.62 with us. There's about 6 of us standing there, 00:43:48.69\00:43:51.13 and she asked if we would pray for her. 00:43:51.19\00:43:54.13 We gathered around, held her, and all of 00:43:54.20\00:43:58.57 us were crying and praying for her, and 00:43:58.63\00:44:01.40 I thought, "Here's Millie even in her 00:44:01.47\00:44:04.21 death." Even in her death, souls are being 00:44:04.24\00:44:09.41 touched. I'll never forget that. - There 00:44:09.48\00:44:12.68 in our family room, the one corner is for 00:44:12.75\00:44:16.52 the chair where I proposed to Millie 00:44:16.58\00:44:19.45 47 years ago, almost. - Wow. - 7 feet away 00:44:19.52\00:44:24.69 is the bed where she died-place where she 00:44:24.73\00:44:28.53 died. Across the room, just 25 feet is the desk 00:44:28.60\00:44:35.34 where she wrote and studied, but I call it 00:44:35.40\00:44:39.04 my love triangle. - Oh, how precious. 00:44:39.11\00:44:41.74 - Right there in the family room. - Well, 00:44:41.78\00:44:44.05 I'll tell you what- you were a blessed man 00:44:44.11\00:44:46.48 to have her, but she was a very blessed woman 00:44:46.51\00:44:49.85 to have you, too, 'cause you're very 00:44:49.92\00:44:52.09 special. I mean, doesn't take but a 5 00:44:52.12\00:44:55.16 minutes with you to know how very special you 00:44:55.22\00:44:57.49 are. And obviously, you're not a thumper. 00:44:57.59\00:45:02.13 You're not somebody that's saying, "You gotta 00:45:02.16\00:45:03.77 do this, you gotta do that;" you're showing 00:45:03.83\00:45:06.20 the love of Jesus in how it all works 00:45:06.27\00:45:11.14 together, but you practice what you 00:45:11.21\00:45:14.28 preach, don't you? - I try to exercise an hour 00:45:14.34\00:45:17.41 a day. - Well, boy, now you're gonna 00:45:17.48\00:45:19.51 put me to shame. Let me ask you this, because 00:45:19.55\00:45:22.85 for in the few minutes we have left, what is 00:45:22.92\00:45:27.36 the difference? Getting Started is your first 00:45:27.39\00:45:30.29 book, Pressing Forward, and Finishing Strong. So, 00:45:30.43\00:45:33.66 what would you say is the central focus of 00:45:33.73\00:45:37.80 Getting Started? - Well, we start with an 00:45:37.87\00:45:41.37 interview. Somebody's just beginning on their 00:45:41.40\00:45:44.37 health program, and yes, we make sure we're 00:45:44.47\00:45:49.98 on an optimistic viewpoint, so we start with hope. 00:45:50.08\00:45:54.75 Really, a lot of health depends upon 00:45:54.85\00:45:58.19 hope. - Amen! - And that's what's happening 00:45:58.22\00:46:00.82 in Alzheimer's today. People have lost hope. 00:46:00.89\00:46:03.93 They say, "You're going to the grave. You got 00:46:04.03\00:46:05.66 Alzheimer's." It's not true! And you 00:46:05.69\00:46:08.13 gotta give people hope. That's what our son 00:46:08.23\00:46:09.80 Wes is doing. Half of his patients are Alzheimer's 00:46:09.86\00:46:13.97 patients. He's giving them hope, and they're 00:46:14.04\00:46:16.24 recuperating! - Amen. - Book one actually is 00:46:16.34\00:46:20.18 pretty simple concepts to grasp, and well-known 00:46:20.24\00:46:25.08 principles of wellness, so it's not like- it's 00:46:26.11\00:46:30.02 more of a slow start in the Getting Started. 00:46:30.09\00:46:34.39 Chapter 5 is about forgiveness. It's 00:46:34.46\00:46:36.93 amazing how many people don't know that forgiveness 00:46:36.99\00:46:40.50 isn't about the other person; forgiveness is 00:46:40.56\00:46:43.83 about you. And if you can take the gift of 00:46:43.93\00:46:47.30 forgiveness and then give it to someone 00:46:47.37\00:46:49.67 else, YOU are set free. So, that's primarily 00:46:49.74\00:46:55.44 book one. It's the simpler things that, 00:46:55.54\00:46:59.51 although forgiveness can be very difficult, 00:46:59.58\00:47:02.85 but they are concepts that are more well known. 00:47:02.95\00:47:05.62 - It's my favorite chapter, it's of 00:47:05.69\00:47:07.02 forgiveness. - I'm just looking at some of these 00:47:07.06\00:47:10.49 chapters and I love this- "Life Is a Balancing 00:47:10.56\00:47:13.70 Act," "Hope in a Hopeless World," "Just Do It," "The 00:47:13.80\00:47:16.67 Miracle Drug: Sunlight," "A Time of Healing," 00:47:16.70\00:47:20.47 "Forgiveness," "Eating Discoveries," "About the 00:47:20.54\00:47:23.24 Brain: Your Command Center," "Your Fate Is on 00:47:23.30\00:47:25.87 Your Plate," "My Love Journey," "Triumph Over 00:47:25.94\00:47:30.05 Tragedy," "Are You Rich and Don't Know It," 00:47:30.11\00:47:32.45 "Family Time." So, this is a good starting place. 00:47:32.51\00:47:36.72 - It is a good starting point. - All right. Pressing 00:47:36.79\00:47:38.89 forward. - A little bit more difficult to grasp 00:47:38.95\00:47:43.93 some of those; they're a little bit more complex- 00:47:44.03\00:47:46.23 a little bit more involved in your life decisions. 00:47:46.33\00:47:50.03 - Among them is the whole question of genes. 00:47:50.10\00:47:53.20 Many people think, "Well, if I have bad genes, 00:47:54.24\00:47:56.60 it's all through." No! - You can turn on 00:47:56.67\00:48:00.94 and off. - You can turn them on and you 00:48:01.04\00:48:02.94 can turn them off. So, that comes as a liberating 00:48:03.04\00:48:06.92 question to many, many people. So, yes, I 00:48:07.02\00:48:11.69 will die with the same genes I was born with, 00:48:11.79\00:48:14.59 but you can turn them off so they don't 00:48:14.66\00:48:18.33 function, or you can turn them on. Maybe I was 00:48:18.39\00:48:21.43 born with a diabetes gene, but I can turn 00:48:21.50\00:48:24.10 it off and I can live a wholesome life. 00:48:24.20\00:48:27.90 - Okay, Finishing Strong. - Well, that's definitely 00:48:27.94\00:48:32.87 heavy on intentionality. It's about commitment. 00:48:32.97\00:48:36.75 Some of the same topics are reviewed in more 00:48:36.78\00:48:39.75 depth. - I just have to tell the opening 00:48:39.85\00:48:44.25 story of this. The running of the first marathon. 00:48:44.32\00:48:49.32 Pheidippides was part of the Athenian 00:48:49.99\00:48:53.23 army, the Persians had decided they were 00:48:53.33\00:48:56.56 going to take Athens at all costs. So they move 00:48:56.63\00:49:02.04 in and come in 600 boats and they land on the 00:49:02.14\00:49:05.91 plains of marathons, some 25-26 miles from 00:49:06.01\00:49:09.18 Athens. Miltiades is the general. They go 00:49:09.28\00:49:12.71 up to defend their land. Miltiades is 00:49:12.78\00:49:16.28 outnumbered-10-1-and he says, "Pheidippides, 00:49:16.35\00:49:19.72 my runner, run to Sparta and see if these people 00:49:19.79\00:49:22.62 can come and help us." So, Pheidippides runs 00:49:22.66\00:49:26.19 to Sparta, 140 miles, 140 miles back home, 00:49:26.23\00:49:31.07 says, "Sorry, Miltiades, but they can't come till 00:49:31.13\00:49:34.87 you have the new moon. It's their religious 00:49:34.97\00:49:37.91 belief." Well, the war wasn't going to wait 00:49:37.97\00:49:41.14 for the new moon. They attack immediately, and 00:49:41.21\00:49:47.88 God helps them win the battle, and they push 00:49:47.98\00:49:51.15 the Persians back into the ocean. And as they 00:49:51.22\00:49:54.62 see them sailing away, the general looks and 00:49:54.69\00:49:57.23 he says, "Hey, they're sailing south. They're 00:49:57.29\00:50:00.80 sailing toward Athens, and there's nobody in 00:50:00.86\00:50:03.53 Athens to defend the city! All the soldiers 00:50:03.60\00:50:06.70 are here!" He said, "Pheidippides, will you 00:50:06.74\00:50:10.27 run to Athens and tell them we have won the 00:50:10.31\00:50:12.77 victory?" And so, he crosses the mountain there 00:50:12.84\00:50:16.75 behind the plains. I've been there; I've seen 00:50:16.81\00:50:19.91 it. He comes to Athens. You can imagine. He's 00:50:20.02\00:50:24.35 run 280 miles in the last few days, and now, 00:50:24.42\00:50:28.26 life is blurry, he hardly sees the gate as he's 00:50:28.32\00:50:31.89 approaching Athens. And finally, he runs into 00:50:31.93\00:50:36.06 the city, goes to the marketplace. There's 00:50:36.13\00:50:38.43 one of the elders of the city. "Pheidippides, 00:50:38.47\00:50:40.60 what is it?" And as he falls to the earth, 00:50:40.67\00:50:44.67 breathing his last breath, he says, "Rejoice. We 00:50:44.77\00:50:49.61 have conquered." - Amen. - And that's the message: 00:50:49.68\00:50:52.65 "Rejoice; we have conquered," in Jesus! 00:50:52.71\00:50:56.25 We go from defeat to victory; from rejection 00:50:56.69\00:51:01.42 like the thief on the left of the cross to 00:51:01.52\00:51:04.43 acceptance like the thief on the right. And 00:51:04.53\00:51:07.60 that's what he's going to do for you, my 00:51:07.66\00:51:09.80 dear friend! - Amen! Now, we only have 00:51:09.86\00:51:12.63 the minute left, and I want to be sure and 00:51:12.67\00:51:16.10 get the president of the- it's North Colombia 00:51:16.17\00:51:22.81 Union. Tell us this story, because-and 00:51:22.91\00:51:26.92 it's going to have to be quick-in a minute. 00:51:26.98\00:51:28.88 - Pastor Redondo, North Colombia Union, South 00:51:28.98\00:51:31.92 America. He comes and says, "John, we need 00:51:31.99\00:51:34.92 books to run with our small groups." - A 00:51:35.02\00:51:39.59 thousand small groups. - And we hear his- 00:51:39.69\00:51:42.36 Pastor Redondo. And I said, "Okay, we'll 00:51:42.43\00:51:45.10 send you hundreds of copies." We sent them 00:51:45.17\00:51:47.14 to them. He used the WIN Wellness in their 00:51:47.20\00:51:50.44 series in one year, and baptized 14,400 00:51:50.54\00:51:55.84 souls. - My! - And found Christ. - Through 00:51:55.91\00:51:58.88 the WIN Wellness?
