Known as Miss Brenda. 00:01:30.82\00:01:32.85 Now when I say sister or sisters, 00:01:32.89\00:01:35.19 she's my sister in the Lord. 00:01:35.22\00:01:37.66 And of course, I've known your family, 00:01:37.69\00:01:39.06 and our parents knew each other, 00:01:39.09\00:01:40.83 and your dad was raised here in Southern Illinois. 00:01:40.90\00:01:43.00 That's right, right here in West Frankfort. 00:01:43.03\00:01:44.60 And moved away for a lot of years, you all did, 00:01:44.63\00:01:47.64 but you had a reason to come back 00:01:47.67\00:01:50.14 about once a month as grandma and grandpa, 00:01:50.21\00:01:52.64 all right, were still here in the area. 00:01:52.67\00:01:55.04 I used to spend my summers here with my grandparents as well. 00:01:55.08\00:01:57.45 Yeah, yeah, absolutely. 00:01:57.48\00:01:59.05 So we grew up more as family. 00:01:59.08\00:02:01.65 Maybe like cousins or brothers and sisters. 00:02:01.68\00:02:03.72 But anyway, we've known each other a long time. 00:02:03.79\00:02:05.95 And about 30 years or so ago, we first went on the air. 00:02:05.99\00:02:10.23 Your dad was one of the first speakers, presenters here. 00:02:10.26\00:02:12.43 That's right. 00:02:12.46\00:02:13.80 And then you and the sisters came 00:02:13.83\00:02:15.43 and would sing on his program. 00:02:15.46\00:02:16.87 That's right. 00:02:16.90\00:02:18.23 In fact, dad's program was called 00:02:18.27\00:02:19.60 Walking With The Master, and it aired for 11 years, 00:02:19.63\00:02:22.67 and then he did another series for a year 00:02:22.70\00:02:24.37 with Give Me The Bible. 00:02:24.41\00:02:25.87 So you can actually watch those today 00:02:25.91\00:02:28.11 if you go on YouTube. 00:02:28.14\00:02:29.54 And type in, you know, "Micheff" 00:02:29.58\00:02:33.18 and you can watch his programs, 00:02:33.21\00:02:35.28 and they're still very popular and still watched. 00:02:35.32\00:02:37.69 And, Mom and Dad, if you're watching, 00:02:37.72\00:02:39.05 you know I love you, right? 00:02:39.09\00:02:40.96 I don't know how many times 00:02:40.99\00:02:42.32 he took me to places like Meramec Caverns 00:02:42.36\00:02:45.49 over in Missouri or down in Garden of Gods, 00:02:45.53\00:02:47.86 and Giant City State Park, and all that. 00:02:47.90\00:02:50.37 He would take... 00:02:50.40\00:02:51.73 Your folks would take all the kids, 00:02:51.77\00:02:53.94 and I was raised kind of poor, 00:02:53.97\00:02:56.37 I didn't realize it at the time, 00:02:56.40\00:02:57.94 but your folks would even supply food for us, 00:02:57.97\00:03:00.48 sandwiches and things like that. 00:03:00.51\00:03:02.11 Your mother would make all of that 00:03:02.14\00:03:03.75 so when the kids from the church would go, 00:03:03.78\00:03:06.21 you know, somewhere, they would take us. 00:03:06.25\00:03:08.18 And so it was such a neat experience to have the... 00:03:08.22\00:03:11.35 And they've always loved kids, so no wonder... 00:03:11.39\00:03:13.36 Well, our Saturday night socials at the church 00:03:13.39\00:03:15.96 when Daddy got out there 00:03:15.99\00:03:17.33 and played games with all of us. 00:03:17.36\00:03:18.69 Yeah, there was a little hall. 00:03:18.73\00:03:20.30 We didn't have a hall at our little church, 00:03:20.33\00:03:21.93 so St. Marks Hall there 00:03:21.96\00:03:23.80 on St. Louis Street in West Frankfort, 00:03:23.87\00:03:25.67 and we would rent that very cheaply, 00:03:25.70\00:03:28.47 and then we'd play all the games, 00:03:28.50\00:03:29.84 and he would kind of lead up, quite a character, quite a guy. 00:03:29.87\00:03:32.64 He was always the life of the party. 00:03:32.67\00:03:34.08 He was, absolutely, absolutely. 00:03:34.11\00:03:35.91 And we love you so much. 00:03:35.94\00:03:37.95 But now your brothers and sisters, 00:03:37.98\00:03:41.72 you're all in ministry. 00:03:41.75\00:03:43.25 Tell us a little bit. 00:03:43.28\00:03:44.62 Oh, Mom and Dad raised five children 00:03:44.65\00:03:46.35 and all five of us are not only in the church, 00:03:46.39\00:03:49.12 we are, all five of us, 00:03:49.16\00:03:50.83 leaders in the church and in ministry. 00:03:50.86\00:03:54.33 My sisters and I have been here at 3ABN for, 00:03:54.36\00:03:57.50 you know, 30 years now in 3ABN Ministry together, 00:03:57.57\00:04:01.00 and our brothers are in ministry, 00:04:01.04\00:04:02.67 they're ordained ministers as well, our dad's a minister. 00:04:02.70\00:04:05.94 And they get a chance to minister together too. 00:04:05.97\00:04:09.61 It's really awesome 00:04:09.64\00:04:10.98 how God allows the sister to administer together 00:04:11.01\00:04:12.95 and then our brothers, 00:04:12.98\00:04:14.32 my brother Jim is the new Conference President 00:04:14.35\00:04:18.22 of the Michigan Conference, Jim Micheff. 00:04:18.25\00:04:19.59 Right. Yeah. 00:04:19.62\00:04:20.96 And my younger brother Ken 00:04:20.99\00:04:22.66 is the Youth Director for Michigan Conference. 00:04:22.69\00:04:24.63 He's got, you know... 00:04:24.66\00:04:26.93 Both of them got really a wonderful opportunity 00:04:27.00\00:04:29.53 to minister together 00:04:29.56\00:04:31.50 and we do really appreciate that. 00:04:31.53\00:04:33.47 So ministry is not new to the Micheff family, 00:04:33.54\00:04:36.94 but it was your parents and we saw... 00:04:37.01\00:04:38.67 Yes. 00:04:38.71\00:04:40.08 Growing up, that they're so dedicated to the Lord, 00:04:40.11\00:04:42.94 and to His Word, and to the beliefs 00:04:42.98\00:04:45.68 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:04:45.71\00:04:47.32 which are built on the Bible. 00:04:47.35\00:04:49.55 And so consequently, 00:04:49.58\00:04:51.82 you have all this family of children 00:04:51.85\00:04:54.29 who were involved in ministry, 00:04:54.32\00:04:56.56 and you, of course, 00:04:56.59\00:04:57.93 Miss Brenda, have been with 3ABN 00:04:57.96\00:05:00.53 and The Kids Time for how many years? 00:05:00.60\00:05:02.13 Almost 20 years. Almost 20 years. 00:05:02.16\00:05:04.47 And she's been our cheapest investment 00:05:04.50\00:05:06.50 because we don't pay her. 00:05:06.53\00:05:07.87 She's been a volunteer all of these years, 00:05:07.90\00:05:09.90 believe that or not, doesn't ask for anything. 00:05:09.94\00:05:12.87 But we do appreciate so much what you do. 00:05:12.91\00:05:14.84 And we've offered to pay her in the past, 00:05:14.88\00:05:16.38 but she said, "No, the Lord will provide." 00:05:16.41\00:05:18.71 And obviously, He has. Amen. 00:05:18.75\00:05:20.45 And we're so blessed. 00:05:20.52\00:05:21.85 But today, we're going to be talking 00:05:21.88\00:05:23.22 about your Bedtime Stories. 00:05:23.25\00:05:25.92 When I grew up, 00:05:25.95\00:05:27.29 they had the Uncle Arthur Bedtime Stories, 00:05:27.36\00:05:29.29 but now they have the Miss Brenda. 00:05:29.32\00:05:31.09 Now who published these? 00:05:31.13\00:05:32.46 Pacific Press. Pacific Press. 00:05:32.49\00:05:34.33 Nampa, Idaho. Okay, and you have five. 00:05:34.36\00:05:37.07 There's five hardcover books. 00:05:37.10\00:05:38.67 They're beautiful books with pictures inside, 00:05:38.70\00:05:41.90 and there's a good balance 00:05:41.94\00:05:45.37 in these books of girl stories, boy stories. 00:05:45.41\00:05:48.88 If you would... 00:05:48.91\00:05:50.25 When I was, you know, writing these stories, 00:05:50.28\00:05:52.51 I was collecting them from everywhere, 00:05:52.55\00:05:54.02 when I traveled everywhere, 00:05:54.05\00:05:55.38 I speak in churches every weekend, 00:05:55.42\00:05:56.79 and I would be asking for, 00:05:56.82\00:05:58.39 "Do you have a good character building story about a child?" 00:05:58.42\00:06:01.52 All of the stories have to be about children. 00:06:01.56\00:06:03.63 And so everywhere I'd go from all over the world, 00:06:03.66\00:06:06.26 I would collect these stories and I would say, 00:06:06.29\00:06:08.40 "Look, all you have to do is email me what happened. 00:06:08.43\00:06:11.20 I'll write the story, just give me all the facts." 00:06:11.23\00:06:13.84 And so that was really an incredible... 00:06:13.87\00:06:18.07 I had a hard time even like deciding 00:06:18.11\00:06:20.21 which one would be in this book, 00:06:20.28\00:06:21.61 you know, and which one... 00:06:21.64\00:06:22.98 'cause so many good ones, so... 00:06:23.01\00:06:24.35 Absolutely. 00:06:24.38\00:06:25.71 We're going to find out more about that in a minute. 00:06:25.75\00:06:28.35 We're going to do some music now with Kids Time. 00:06:28.38\00:06:30.92 They always have music. That's right. 00:06:30.99\00:06:32.82 And so I travel around the world as Brenda does 00:06:32.85\00:06:36.73 and many churches, most churches I go to, 00:06:36.76\00:06:40.03 some of the folk who say they love Kids Time singers, 00:06:40.10\00:06:43.80 and the music in Kids Time 00:06:43.87\00:06:45.73 happen to be anywhere from 70 to 95 years old, 00:06:45.77\00:06:49.77 and some of them say, 00:06:49.80\00:06:51.14 "Oh, that's my favorite program on 3ABN, is the Kids Time." 00:06:51.17\00:06:55.51 So we can see why, but today we have some of the singers 00:06:55.54\00:06:58.88 and this is off of a DVD we did some time ago, 00:06:58.91\00:07:02.68 and the song is going to be It's A Beautiful World. 00:07:02.72\00:07:05.65 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:07:17.47\00:07:22.87 Just for you and for me 00:07:22.90\00:07:26.31 He created all in six days 00:07:26.34\00:07:31.85 I have faith to believe 00:07:31.88\00:07:35.55 The Bible tells the story 00:07:35.58\00:07:40.06 Of God's great power and glory 00:07:40.09\00:07:44.96 He made the life, the earth, and sea 00:07:44.99\00:07:49.33 He made the flowers and the buzzing bumblebees 00:07:49.36\00:07:55.27 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:07:55.30\00:08:00.48 Just for you and for me 00:08:00.51\00:08:04.65 God created everything in just six days. 00:08:04.68\00:08:07.65 On the first day, God created light. 00:08:07.68\00:08:10.29 And on the second day, He made the heavenly skies. 00:08:10.32\00:08:13.66 On the third day, 00:08:13.69\00:08:15.02 He created the grass, the trees, and the plants. 00:08:15.06\00:08:17.63 On the fourth day, 00:08:17.66\00:08:18.99 He created the sun, the moon, and the stars. 00:08:19.03\00:08:22.50 And on the fifth day, God created the fish 00:08:22.53\00:08:25.00 and all the wonderful sea creatures in the water, 00:08:25.03\00:08:28.14 and He created all the birds in the air. 00:08:28.17\00:08:32.84 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:08:32.87\00:08:38.08 Just for you and for me 00:08:38.11\00:08:41.68 He created all in six days 00:08:41.72\00:08:46.89 I have faith to believe 00:08:46.96\00:08:50.96 The Bible tells the story 00:08:50.99\00:08:55.36 Of God's great power and glory 00:08:55.40\00:09:00.24 He made the light, the earth, and sea 00:09:00.27\00:09:04.61 He made the flowers and the buzzing bumblebees 00:09:04.64\00:09:10.68 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:09:10.75\00:09:15.85 Just for you and for me 00:09:15.88\00:09:19.19 And on the sixth day, 00:09:19.22\00:09:20.56 He created all the beautiful animal life on the earth. 00:09:20.59\00:09:24.06 But He also created something very special that sixth day, 00:09:24.13\00:09:28.53 yes, special and dear to the heart of God. 00:09:28.56\00:09:31.93 You guessed it, He created you and me. 00:09:31.97\00:09:37.44 The Bible tells the story 00:09:37.51\00:09:41.68 Of God's great power and glory 00:09:41.71\00:09:46.75 He made the light, the earth, and sea 00:09:46.82\00:09:51.25 He made the flowers and the buzzing bumblebees 00:09:51.29\00:09:57.03 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:09:57.06\00:10:02.23 Just for you and for me 00:10:02.26\00:10:06.07 After creating everything in just six days, 00:10:06.10\00:10:09.54 the Bible says that God rested. 00:10:09.57\00:10:11.94 Let's read about it in Genesis 2:1-3, 00:10:11.97\00:10:15.64 "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished 00:10:15.68\00:10:17.91 and all the host of them. 00:10:17.95\00:10:19.68 And on the seventh day, 00:10:19.71\00:10:21.05 God ended His work which He had made, 00:10:21.08\00:10:23.42 and He rested on the seventh day 00:10:23.49\00:10:25.52 from all His work which He had made. 00:10:25.55\00:10:27.82 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it 00:10:27.86\00:10:31.03 because that in it He had rested from all His work 00:10:31.06\00:10:34.60 which God created and made." 00:10:34.63\00:10:39.03 It's a beautiful world that God made 00:10:39.07\00:10:44.31 Just for you and for me 00:10:44.34\00:10:47.88 He created it all in six days 00:10:47.91\00:10:53.18 I have faith to believe 00:10:53.21\00:10:56.89 It's a beautiful world Such a beautiful world 00:10:56.92\00:11:01.16 It's a beautiful world It's a beautiful world 00:11:01.19\00:11:05.59 It's a beautiful world Such a beautiful world 00:11:05.63\00:11:09.93 It's a beautiful world It's a beautiful world 00:11:09.96\00:11:14.47 It's a beautiful world Such a beautiful world 00:11:14.50\00:11:18.91 Amen. 00:11:21.98\00:11:23.35 Amen, that brings back lots of memories. 00:11:23.38\00:11:24.78 It sure does. 00:11:24.81\00:11:26.15 Love seeing the kids there and of course, Trinity, 00:11:26.18\00:11:29.15 and Justin Lee is there and a bunch of others. 00:11:29.18\00:11:31.35 Granddaughter Faith and... 00:11:31.39\00:11:32.72 Faith and Jonah. 00:12:04.69\00:12:06.65 I'm so thankful that 00:12:06.69\00:12:09.49 we have an opportunity as Christians to share Jesus 00:12:09.52\00:12:13.50 in the marketplace to a lost and dying world. 00:12:13.53\00:12:16.23 And you've been doing this for many years 00:12:16.26\00:12:18.67 reaching the young people. 00:12:18.70\00:12:20.44 But you have something very special, 00:12:20.47\00:12:22.04 and I really want to center in on this. 00:12:22.07\00:12:24.71 Miss Brenda's Bedtime Stories, maybe you could hold that up. 00:12:24.74\00:12:28.21 These are really nice, hardcover, 00:12:28.24\00:12:31.88 and they're similar to what Pacific Press 00:12:31.91\00:12:34.02 put out for so many years. 00:12:34.05\00:12:35.88 And they've put out and of course 00:12:35.92\00:12:37.29 the Uncle Arthur and all of those, 00:12:37.32\00:12:39.22 the Bible stories and Bedtime Stories. 00:12:39.25\00:12:41.72 But these are true stories. 00:12:41.76\00:12:43.56 All true stories, character building stories. 00:12:43.63\00:12:45.76 You've gathered from around the world. 00:12:45.79\00:12:47.50 What I don't understand is how she has time to do all of this 00:12:47.53\00:12:52.20 and all the traveling that she does, all of the articles, 00:12:52.23\00:12:55.70 the prayer things that she does, 00:12:55.74\00:12:57.41 all of the other material, I do not understand, 00:12:57.44\00:13:00.18 I've tried to figure out where you get this much time, 00:13:00.21\00:13:03.08 and I have no idea. 00:13:03.11\00:13:04.98 But anyway, God bless you. 00:13:05.01\00:13:06.35 Well, when you turn, 00:13:06.38\00:13:08.45 you know, your life over to Jesus and say, 00:13:08.48\00:13:11.12 "Take control of my calendar, take control of my schedule. 00:13:11.15\00:13:14.16 Lord, what do You want me to accomplish today?" 00:13:14.19\00:13:16.36 He does. 00:13:16.39\00:13:17.73 I mean, I didn't find out this 00:13:17.76\00:13:19.83 until after these books were actually printed 00:13:19.86\00:13:22.96 that Uncle Arthur, when he was writing, 00:13:23.00\00:13:24.43 he didn't write all his books in one year. 00:13:24.47\00:13:27.14 Sometimes there was a couple of years in between those books 00:13:27.17\00:13:29.64 and the miracle of what God did and, you know, 00:13:29.67\00:13:33.71 these books are so prayed over, Danny. 00:13:33.78\00:13:35.31 I got to tell you, every single story 00:13:35.34\00:13:37.25 in here is prayed over. 00:13:37.28\00:13:39.41 "Lord, do You want this story in this book? 00:13:39.45\00:13:41.05 Do You want it in this book?" 00:13:41.08\00:13:42.42 You know, or maybe in another time, 00:13:42.45\00:13:44.09 but this isn't going in this book. 00:13:44.12\00:13:45.45 I mean, I literally just prayed my way through these 00:13:45.49\00:13:49.59 and it's really amazing to me how God does lead and guide, 00:13:49.62\00:13:52.99 and He guides your schedule. 00:13:53.03\00:13:54.36 But these books, 00:13:54.40\00:13:55.80 I was in full production of Kids Time programs 00:13:55.83\00:13:58.53 the year these books came out. 00:13:58.57\00:14:00.57 So we never missed one production date. 00:14:00.64\00:14:03.00 So all of our programs got put out that year, 00:14:03.04\00:14:06.41 and I think we had more than 20 programs, 00:14:06.44\00:14:08.18 I think, we put out for Kids Time. 00:14:08.21\00:14:09.54 That's not counting Kids Time Praise. 00:14:09.58\00:14:10.95 So we got all those, all this full production at Kids Time, 00:14:10.98\00:14:13.52 plus I was speaking every week and flying 00:14:13.55\00:14:17.29 and God still allowed 00:14:17.32\00:14:19.19 all five of these books to get out in one year, 00:14:19.22\00:14:21.96 all five in one year. 00:14:21.99\00:14:23.56 So if that's not God, the blessing, 00:14:23.63\00:14:26.70 you know, I don't know what is. 00:14:26.73\00:14:29.80 And like I said, I went, you know, soliciting stories, 00:14:29.83\00:14:33.57 and trying to find stories, and then weeding out stories, 00:14:33.64\00:14:35.97 and then collecting pictures. 00:14:36.00\00:14:39.34 And like anything, Danny, you don't... 00:14:39.37\00:14:41.58 You know, God gives me a good team 00:14:41.61\00:14:43.48 and I have an incredible team. 00:14:43.55\00:14:45.88 I have an awesome assistant, Melissa Hoffman, 00:14:45.91\00:14:48.52 who is the most amazing copy editor. 00:14:48.55\00:14:51.82 I wouldn't write a thing 00:14:51.85\00:14:53.19 without her looking at what I write. 00:14:53.22\00:14:54.99 I've been writing daily devotions on Facebook 00:14:55.02\00:14:57.79 for almost 10 years now, and I like her looking at... 00:14:57.83\00:15:02.43 I try to, it's almost a game now to me, like a competition, 00:15:02.46\00:15:05.60 I try to write it so perfectly 00:15:05.63\00:15:07.34 she's not going to find one thing wrong. 00:15:07.37\00:15:09.57 And I'll feel real good about, and I say, "Okay, so..." 00:15:09.60\00:15:12.11 She'll look it over before it's posted, and she goes, 00:15:12.14\00:15:15.18 "That's misspelled, you got an extra space here, 00:15:15.21\00:15:17.55 you got a comma here, no comma here." 00:15:17.58\00:15:19.21 And she said, "That's a colon, you don't need that." 00:15:19.25\00:15:21.05 And she said, "You got too many exclamation points." 00:15:21.08\00:15:23.22 I'm like, you know... 00:15:23.25\00:15:24.99 I'm like, "Okay." 00:15:25.02\00:15:26.79 So, you know, she's... 00:15:26.86\00:15:29.22 God chooses the right people to come into your life 00:15:29.26\00:15:31.66 and to be such an amazing year, 00:15:31.69\00:15:33.53 He's given me a talent for writing, 00:15:33.60\00:15:35.93 He brings me a copy editor, 00:15:35.96\00:15:37.57 and then CQ or Chrystique Neibauer 00:15:37.60\00:15:41.07 is my graphic designer, she's also the, 00:15:41.10\00:15:44.64 you know, head of graphic design 00:15:44.67\00:15:46.01 for 3ABN here. 00:15:46.04\00:15:47.38 And she, you know, has designed all the covers, 00:15:47.41\00:15:50.75 all the inside pages, and everything, 00:15:50.78\00:15:52.71 and a designer can put it all together, 00:15:52.75\00:15:54.68 but then you need a copy editor 00:15:54.72\00:15:56.05 to make sure that everything is spelled right, 00:15:56.08\00:15:58.32 and you go over and you copy-edit, 00:15:58.35\00:15:59.69 copy-edit, copy-edit. 00:15:59.72\00:16:01.06 So these have really been gone over with a fine-tooth comb. 00:16:01.09\00:16:04.43 And so I give credit first and foremost to Jesus 00:16:04.46\00:16:08.03 and also to my incredible team. 00:16:08.06\00:16:10.30 I couldn't do it without them. 00:16:10.37\00:16:11.70 But it was really an incredible project, putting this together. 00:16:11.73\00:16:16.81 I not only asked people to give me their stories, 00:16:16.84\00:16:19.81 their personal stories. 00:16:19.84\00:16:22.94 In fact, I asked you for a story in here. 00:16:22.98\00:16:24.88 You gave me a story for one of these. 00:16:24.91\00:16:27.02 But I also asked best-selling authors to give me stories. 00:16:27.05\00:16:30.12 So we have Jerry D. Thomas, 00:16:30.19\00:16:31.59 and Kay Kuzma, Kay Rizzo, and, you know, 00:16:31.62\00:16:35.06 beautiful writers that gave me stories 00:16:35.09\00:16:40.40 that are in the book. 00:16:40.43\00:16:41.76 And also, I asked our church leaders 00:16:41.80\00:16:44.27 to give me stories. 00:16:44.30\00:16:45.77 John Bradshaw gave me stories, 00:16:45.80\00:16:47.27 and Doug Batchelor, and Ken Cox, and Mark Finley. 00:16:47.34\00:16:52.01 I wanted to have a well-balanced... 00:16:52.04\00:16:54.31 And that's what God gave us. 00:16:54.34\00:16:55.68 So you're not just getting Miss Brenda's stories, 00:16:55.71\00:16:57.25 there are a couple of my personal stories 00:16:57.28\00:16:59.48 in each volume, 00:16:59.51\00:17:00.85 but it's not the Miss Brenda's stories 00:17:00.92\00:17:03.49 that are filled with, 00:17:03.52\00:17:05.45 it's a balance of stories in each book. 00:17:05.49\00:17:08.16 And there's a lesson index that you can look at. 00:17:08.19\00:17:12.63 And let's say you're having trouble with your child 00:17:12.66\00:17:15.30 being honest. 00:17:15.33\00:17:16.67 So you can go at bedtime, 00:17:16.70\00:17:18.03 you can look up under the lesson index under honesty, 00:17:18.07\00:17:20.44 and there's all the stories 00:17:20.47\00:17:21.80 that are going to deal with that. 00:17:21.84\00:17:23.17 So you might just say, "You know what, 00:17:23.20\00:17:24.64 why don't we read this one tonight?" 00:17:24.67\00:17:26.71 And see that it kind of just subtly helped them through. 00:17:26.78\00:17:29.01 So that lesson index is a parent tool 00:17:29.04\00:17:32.95 to really help their children. 00:17:32.98\00:17:34.32 Absolutely. 00:17:34.35\00:17:35.68 And in this day, you know, of technology, 00:17:35.72\00:17:38.69 people may say, "Well, why books? 00:17:38.72\00:17:40.86 You know, kids don't really read books." 00:17:40.89\00:17:42.76 They actually do. 00:17:42.79\00:17:44.13 And if you go to Amazon and all these places, 00:17:44.16\00:17:46.59 the amount of people downloading books, 00:17:46.63\00:17:49.50 you know, are by the hundreds of millions, 00:17:49.53\00:17:52.33 and I'm amazed that people say, 00:17:52.37\00:17:54.60 "Well, I don't know if kids will read books." 00:17:54.64\00:17:57.04 No, they read them. 00:17:57.11\00:17:58.44 And I want to tell you something else 00:17:58.47\00:17:59.81 about these bedtime stories, I learned this firsthand. 00:17:59.84\00:18:03.55 I didn't look for different stories, 00:18:03.58\00:18:06.18 which is a good idea on different subjects, 00:18:06.21\00:18:08.58 but Trinity, my youngest, 00:18:08.62\00:18:12.15 and so Trinity, she's 18 now. 00:18:12.19\00:18:15.06 So I'm not reading them to her now. 00:18:15.09\00:18:17.26 She's old enough to read them herself, 00:18:17.33\00:18:19.16 but when she was a little younger, 00:18:19.19\00:18:20.96 just few years ago, 00:18:21.00\00:18:23.16 every night, I would go into her room 00:18:23.20\00:18:25.07 before we said our prayers and we picked up, 00:18:25.10\00:18:28.87 and just read through. 00:18:28.90\00:18:30.34 We'd read one story after another. 00:18:30.41\00:18:32.17 And then after we did them, maybe all the way through. 00:18:32.21\00:18:35.24 Then I'd say, "Is there any favorite story?" 00:18:35.28\00:18:37.35 And sometimes she would say, "Well, let's go back" 00:18:37.38\00:18:39.48 'cause you don't get it in one reading. 00:18:39.51\00:18:41.92 I mean, I can honestly say that you read the books, 00:18:41.95\00:18:44.89 the story's great, but you don't get it all. 00:18:44.92\00:18:48.29 When I would reread the story, 00:18:48.32\00:18:50.23 something new pops out every time, 00:18:50.26\00:18:52.66 and it's like when you get a CD, 00:18:52.69\00:18:54.50 you listen to the song once 00:18:54.53\00:18:55.90 but you'll find yourself listening to it 00:18:55.93\00:18:57.97 over, and over, and over 00:18:58.00\00:18:59.33 and then learning the words and singing them. 00:18:59.37\00:19:02.04 So I remember when Melody was young, 00:19:02.07\00:19:04.91 and this takes us way back. 00:19:04.94\00:19:06.31 Sorry, Melody. 00:19:06.34\00:19:07.68 Way back when she was young, 00:19:07.71\00:19:09.04 we had Uncle Arthur Bedtime Stories and the Bible stories, 00:19:09.08\00:19:12.78 but she would remember, to this day, 00:19:12.81\00:19:15.48 she remembers some of those stories 00:19:15.52\00:19:18.09 and of course, around the Christmas time, 00:19:18.12\00:19:20.36 I go down and I'll read, you know, we start with the... 00:19:20.39\00:19:23.73 So though they may be put out in the '50s, 00:19:23.76\00:19:26.23 they're still relevant 00:19:26.26\00:19:27.60 because it's just like your Bible is, 00:19:27.63\00:19:29.23 they were Bible stories. 00:19:29.26\00:19:30.70 Then he had the Uncle Arthur Bedtime Stories, 00:19:30.77\00:19:34.27 this is newer, updated versions of stories. 00:19:34.30\00:19:38.21 Different stories than what's in it. 00:19:38.24\00:19:39.84 I get asked that all the time. 00:19:39.87\00:19:41.34 Oh, no, absolutely different. New stories. 00:19:41.38\00:19:43.08 And different people and different families. 00:19:43.11\00:19:45.81 I mean, I'll talk about something a little touchy 00:19:45.85\00:19:48.08 to some people, but back in the '50s, 00:19:48.12\00:19:50.29 you know, the bedtime stories, 00:19:50.32\00:19:52.12 I actually have met people who said, 00:19:52.15\00:19:54.49 "I never read my kids because every story in it 00:19:54.52\00:19:57.43 and every picture in it was white people." 00:19:57.46\00:20:00.20 And so, you know, that's not a true world for us. 00:20:00.23\00:20:02.83 That's right. 00:20:02.86\00:20:04.20 But these, you have blacks, you have Latinos, 00:20:04.27\00:20:06.27 you have Orientals, this is very... 00:20:06.30\00:20:07.64 All God's rainbow colors are represented. 00:20:07.67\00:20:10.11 That's right, all of them are. 00:20:10.14\00:20:11.47 And the stories are represented 00:20:11.51\00:20:13.17 from different people from their different cultures. 00:20:13.21\00:20:16.31 And so this is something that anybody can get. 00:20:16.34\00:20:19.68 And be happy about it and read and feel included. 00:20:19.71\00:20:22.58 And I think nowadays, that is important. 00:20:22.62\00:20:24.52 That's not a political move, 00:20:24.55\00:20:26.22 it's just simply the changing world 00:20:26.25\00:20:28.42 in which we live 00:20:28.46\00:20:29.82 and we understand people better than we used to. 00:20:29.86\00:20:33.06 And so being aware... 00:20:33.09\00:20:34.50 And you've done a great job doing that. 00:20:34.53\00:20:37.00 So anyone who reads these books are going to feel 00:20:37.07\00:20:40.17 they're included and their stories are valid 00:20:40.24\00:20:43.74 and that people will... 00:20:43.81\00:20:45.14 That's right. And that's important. 00:20:45.17\00:20:46.51 And that was intentional, that's definitely God giving me 00:20:46.54\00:20:50.05 that wisdom and direction to do that. 00:20:50.08\00:20:53.08 So that didn't just happen, I know. 00:20:53.11\00:20:55.95 And in fact, Danny, on Kids Time, from day one, 00:20:55.98\00:20:58.69 you're not ever going to find one Kids Time Program 00:20:58.72\00:21:01.62 that just represents white people. 00:21:01.66\00:21:03.93 All Gods... 00:21:03.96\00:21:05.29 Or any one culture. 00:21:05.33\00:21:06.70 Or any one culture, 00:21:06.73\00:21:08.06 it represents all God's children 00:21:08.10\00:21:11.03 of all colors. 00:21:11.07\00:21:12.40 I love that song I sang as a child 00:21:12.43\00:21:14.84 and I know you did too, 00:21:14.87\00:21:16.27 you know, Jesus loves the children of the world, 00:21:16.30\00:21:18.17 red and yellow, black and white, 00:21:18.21\00:21:19.54 all are precious in His sight. 00:21:19.57\00:21:21.24 And I mean that, and I love all kids, 00:21:21.28\00:21:23.55 Jesus loves all kids, and they need to feel. 00:21:23.58\00:21:26.65 You know, everyone needs to feel included. 00:21:26.72\00:21:29.18 So that was intentional for sure. 00:21:29.22\00:21:33.12 We're going to talk about, in a minute, 00:21:33.15\00:21:34.76 you have the audio books also, which is pretty neat. 00:21:34.79\00:21:38.83 But I want to say something about the book itself. 00:21:38.86\00:21:42.16 It's not like just you get the book and have the kids, 00:21:42.20\00:21:45.60 "Okay, go read them." 00:21:45.63\00:21:47.04 What I found out with Trinity, 00:21:47.07\00:21:49.40 and so me being older and her being younger, 00:21:49.44\00:21:53.98 sometimes when you're young, 00:21:54.01\00:21:55.91 like I was only 20 when Melody was born, and if I look back, 00:21:55.94\00:21:59.55 I could do things a lot different. 00:21:59.58\00:22:01.08 Well, Trinity came into my life at a later age, 00:22:01.12\00:22:04.19 and I'm so thankful God brought her 00:22:04.22\00:22:06.45 and gave me the opportunity to be her daddy 00:22:06.49\00:22:08.99 for so many years. 00:22:09.02\00:22:10.53 But literally, every night, 00:22:10.56\00:22:12.93 I would go in and it was the time 00:22:12.96\00:22:14.83 we spent together. 00:22:14.86\00:22:16.20 Because when we went in, I would say, 00:22:16.23\00:22:18.77 "Okay, tell me when you're ready for bed," 00:22:18.80\00:22:21.00 and we had a certain time, "when you're ready for bed, 00:22:21.04\00:22:23.41 I'll come in the room." 00:22:23.44\00:22:24.77 And then we'll pick out a Miss Brenda story, 00:22:24.81\00:22:26.98 and read it, and then we prayed. 00:22:27.01\00:22:29.21 But we always found time to talk, like in today, how... 00:22:29.24\00:22:33.82 And this is only just in the last few years, 00:22:33.85\00:22:35.58 in other words, 00:22:35.62\00:22:36.99 when she's older, even up to teenager. 00:22:37.02\00:22:38.95 So these aren't just for like 7, 8, 10 years old, 00:22:38.99\00:22:41.79 though they're great, 00:22:41.82\00:22:43.16 they can understand them, but the story... 00:22:43.19\00:22:44.53 I enjoyed them. 00:22:44.56\00:22:45.89 So I enjoyed reading the stories, 00:22:45.93\00:22:47.60 and I'm older than a teenager by the way. 00:22:47.63\00:22:51.60 And as I opened it up just now, I hadn't even... 00:22:51.63\00:22:53.84 I didn't do that on purpose, 00:22:53.87\00:22:55.20 but here's a picture that has to do with Melody. 00:22:55.24\00:22:58.21 That's right, your grandkids. The grandkids on here. 00:22:58.24\00:23:01.34 And so a story, these are again, true stories. 00:23:01.38\00:23:04.15 But what I found most important about 00:23:04.18\00:23:06.95 this is the time that we spent together 00:23:07.02\00:23:09.18 'cause everybody's so busy on their iPhones and, 00:23:09.22\00:23:12.75 you know, their own thing they're doing, 00:23:12.79\00:23:14.42 but when I would go in there to read the story, I could say, 00:23:14.46\00:23:17.23 "How did things go today at school?" 00:23:17.26\00:23:18.96 "Oh, well, Papa, this happened or that happened." 00:23:18.99\00:23:21.50 And we find ourselves really in a conversation 00:23:21.53\00:23:25.70 that you really need to be. 00:23:25.73\00:23:27.44 And so you then understand your own child 00:23:27.47\00:23:30.34 more than you might normally 00:23:30.41\00:23:32.84 because everybody's got their own things going. 00:23:32.87\00:23:34.81 So the fact that we had an appointment every night, 00:23:34.84\00:23:37.88 in other word, every night 00:23:37.91\00:23:40.02 when I was home or wasn't traveling, 00:23:40.05\00:23:42.85 and that I was there, 00:23:42.88\00:23:44.22 and that's most of the time we were together, 00:23:44.29\00:23:46.05 I go in, and we pick out a story, 00:23:46.09\00:23:48.52 we read the story, then we talk about it. 00:23:48.56\00:23:50.73 And then... 00:23:50.76\00:23:52.09 And of course, you get to read her own story 00:23:52.13\00:23:53.80 about her own horse Dee Dee 00:23:53.83\00:23:55.33 and what happened there where the Lord blessed. 00:23:55.36\00:23:58.50 But the time that you spend with your child is invaluable. 00:23:58.53\00:24:04.57 Now so why... 00:24:04.61\00:24:06.61 In fact, that's the most important gift 00:24:06.68\00:24:08.28 you can give your child is time, your time. 00:24:08.31\00:24:11.08 It absolutely is. 00:24:11.11\00:24:12.58 And, you know, today, I'm so thankful. 00:24:12.61\00:24:14.85 She's starting this fall Southern Adventist University, 00:24:14.88\00:24:19.22 and she's going into social work. 00:24:19.25\00:24:21.22 And so it's a ministry to her, she looked at something else 00:24:21.26\00:24:25.29 that would be a lot more money, 00:24:25.33\00:24:27.13 but she says, "I want to be able to..." 00:24:27.20\00:24:29.06 She came from a family situation 00:24:29.10\00:24:32.37 that I able to take her at a very young age, 00:24:32.40\00:24:35.57 she says, "I want to be able to relate to kids, 00:24:35.60\00:24:38.44 like I was and where I came from." 00:24:38.47\00:24:40.88 And it's all because of ministry. 00:24:40.91\00:24:43.11 And so I'm so thankful, 00:24:43.14\00:24:44.61 and these books are a big part of that. 00:24:44.65\00:24:46.45 Now you have the audio book. 00:24:46.48\00:24:48.35 So why, Brenda, 00:24:48.38\00:24:50.02 do you need audio books if you have the hardcover book? 00:24:50.09\00:24:54.39 Well, that's a good question, and when I encourage people 00:24:54.42\00:24:57.63 to purchase the Bedtime Stories, 00:24:57.66\00:24:59.69 they say, you know, it's not an either-or. 00:24:59.73\00:25:02.66 Both the audio books and the bedtime story books 00:25:02.70\00:25:06.33 are equally important 00:25:06.37\00:25:08.67 because, yes, these are wonderful 00:25:08.70\00:25:10.61 to read at bedtime, 00:25:10.64\00:25:11.97 Sabbath afternoons, anytime really, 00:25:12.01\00:25:14.18 but you can also, with the audio book, 00:25:14.21\00:25:16.38 it's my voice reading the stories. 00:25:16.41\00:25:18.85 And so they can put, 00:25:18.88\00:25:20.72 you know, if they're traveling on a road trip, 00:25:20.75\00:25:22.35 if they're, you know, going back and forth, 00:25:22.38\00:25:23.79 you can put in the CD player, they can, you know, 00:25:23.82\00:25:26.76 download it to their iPhones now and their iPads 00:25:26.79\00:25:29.86 and they can be listening to the stories. 00:25:29.89\00:25:31.96 A mother told me, she said, oh, she said, 00:25:31.99\00:25:33.73 "My daughter has to go in for kidney dialysis all the time. 00:25:33.80\00:25:38.00 She's, you know, has a health issues." 00:25:38.03\00:25:41.50 And she said, "Those bedtime stories 00:25:41.54\00:25:44.01 have just helped her make it through." 00:25:44.04\00:25:47.01 I've got another child that's, you know, with cancer, 00:25:47.08\00:25:50.55 she said, "I can't even tell you 00:25:50.58\00:25:52.15 how many hours and hours it's helped her pass that day, 00:25:52.18\00:25:54.58 get the time off the pain that she's in. 00:25:54.62\00:25:56.38 I mean, it takes her mind off the pain," 00:25:56.42\00:25:57.92 she said, "just listening to those stories." 00:25:57.95\00:26:00.19 And it's kind of funny, I was in Melbourne, Australia, 00:26:00.26\00:26:04.86 and I was in one of those shopping malls 00:26:04.89\00:26:06.36 and my dad loves those, 00:26:06.39\00:26:08.26 you know, sheepskin slippers over there. 00:26:08.30\00:26:10.87 Every time I go, I bring them back. 00:26:10.90\00:26:12.83 I knew they have them at this one place, it's big. 00:26:12.87\00:26:14.50 I like them too, by the way, not saying anything. 00:26:14.54\00:26:17.97 I'll be there again in November, so... 00:26:18.01\00:26:20.98 All right, I'm going in a couple months, 00:26:21.01\00:26:22.34 so I'll make sure I bring you some. 00:26:22.38\00:26:24.05 Tell me your size. That worked all right, okay. 00:26:24.08\00:26:28.22 So I'm in this open-air market, and I'm looking, 00:26:28.25\00:26:31.12 you know, for my dad's slippers, 00:26:31.15\00:26:33.22 and so I'm giggling and laughing 00:26:33.25\00:26:34.72 with the women's ministries leader 00:26:34.76\00:26:36.42 that was with me, 00:26:36.46\00:26:37.79 and all of a sudden I hear someone 00:26:37.83\00:26:39.16 on the whole next aisle go, "That's Miss Brenda! 00:26:39.19\00:26:42.06 I know that voice anywhere." 00:26:42.10\00:26:44.37 And they came tearing around, 00:26:44.40\00:26:45.73 and come running down the aisle towards me, 00:26:45.77\00:26:47.34 and she said, "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it." 00:26:47.37\00:26:49.30 She said, "We listen to your stories 00:26:49.34\00:26:52.64 every single night." 00:26:52.67\00:26:54.01 She said, "I'd know that voice anywhere." 00:26:54.08\00:26:55.64 Wonderful, yeah. 00:26:55.68\00:26:57.05 So, you know, that just... 00:26:57.08\00:26:58.61 When God allows you to know how He has used you, 00:26:58.65\00:27:01.45 you know what I call that, Danny, 00:27:01.48\00:27:02.85 I call that a Holy Spirit hug. 00:27:02.88\00:27:04.32 Absolutely. 00:27:04.35\00:27:05.69 You know, honestly, it's just like, 00:27:05.72\00:27:07.06 "Wow, okay, that's why I do what I do." 00:27:07.09\00:27:10.06 And when I call my dad, and I'll say, 00:27:10.13\00:27:12.53 "Daddy," I said... 00:27:12.56\00:27:13.90 He'll always ask me, "You got your praise report?" 00:27:13.93\00:27:16.43 I'll say, "Oh, Daddy, I got to tell you, but I just, 00:27:16.46\00:27:18.27 you know, talked with this mother, 00:27:18.30\00:27:20.27 and told me about her daughter, 00:27:20.34\00:27:21.67 and she's given her heart to Jesus, and all these, 00:27:21.70\00:27:23.27 you know, because of these books." 00:27:23.30\00:27:25.71 And my daddy will say, my nicknames Bibby, 00:27:25.74\00:27:28.34 he'd say, "Bibby, you are overpaid. 00:27:28.38\00:27:32.58 You might be a volunteer but you're overpaid." 00:27:32.61\00:27:34.48 Overpaid. Yeah, because that's my pay. 00:27:34.52\00:27:37.49 I mean, you just don't get better than that. 00:27:37.52\00:27:39.52 You can't put a price on a soul. 00:27:39.55\00:27:42.02 And when you got a precious little one that's learning 00:27:42.06\00:27:44.76 about Jesus and coming close to Him, that is just priceless. 00:27:44.79\00:27:49.26 And the other thing about these books is that 00:27:49.30\00:27:52.30 these books are non-doctrinal on purpose. 00:27:52.33\00:27:55.57 These books are to help kids fall in love with Jesus. 00:27:55.60\00:27:59.91 This is the first step, 00:27:59.94\00:28:01.34 they're not going to care about that. 00:28:01.38\00:28:02.78 Just pounding doctrine into kids 00:28:02.81\00:28:04.51 isn't going to help them 00:28:04.55\00:28:05.88 want to find their way to Jesus. 00:28:05.91\00:28:07.25 These are character building stories 00:28:07.32\00:28:08.75 to introduce kids to Jesus 00:28:08.78\00:28:10.72 and help them to want to be more like Him. 00:28:10.79\00:28:13.99 And so that's the benefit of having the audio books 00:28:14.06\00:28:16.93 that you can listen to them everywhere you go. 00:28:16.96\00:28:20.10 Of course, reading the stories to them 00:28:20.13\00:28:24.40 first hand is the best thing, 00:28:24.43\00:28:25.77 but there are children that, 00:28:25.80\00:28:27.14 you know, may not have a parent 00:28:27.17\00:28:28.80 that's going to read to them at night. 00:28:28.84\00:28:30.41 And so they could fall asleep listening these. 00:28:30.44\00:28:34.31 I know my grandsons 00:28:34.34\00:28:36.18 who are old enough to read themselves, 00:28:36.21\00:28:39.28 they still love listening to my stories, 00:28:39.31\00:28:41.22 you know, on the audio book. 00:28:41.25\00:28:43.49 In fact, I have a picture, I'm having my grandson... 00:28:43.52\00:28:46.49 Okay. 00:28:46.52\00:28:47.86 Do a promo for me for these books 00:28:47.89\00:28:49.49 that we're going to air on Kids Network. 00:28:49.52\00:28:51.16 Let's show a little clip of him. 00:28:51.19\00:28:52.53 This is Jason. He loves these books. 00:28:52.56\00:28:54.43 So he said, "Oh, Grandma, I'll do a promo for you." 00:28:54.46\00:28:57.80 So he said after this event, 00:28:57.83\00:29:00.54 you know, he's going through 00:29:00.57\00:29:02.10 and he's, you know, point to everything, 00:29:02.14\00:29:04.31 and I'm off-camera since he doesn't have to talk, 00:29:04.34\00:29:07.61 telling him what to do, I say, "Turn the pages now, Jason, 00:29:07.64\00:29:10.55 and point to this, point to that." 00:29:10.58\00:29:12.28 And he's doing it all. 00:29:12.31\00:29:13.72 And after we were all done, he goes, 00:29:13.75\00:29:16.35 "Grandma, I would not want your job. 00:29:16.38\00:29:19.02 That's hard work." 00:29:19.05\00:29:22.79 Well, isn't he adorable? 00:29:22.82\00:29:24.16 I just love him. 00:29:24.23\00:29:25.56 And he's quite a bit older now but when we shot that, 00:29:25.59\00:29:29.83 but we're getting ready to release a new promo 00:29:29.86\00:29:32.50 for the book with him in it. 00:29:32.53\00:29:34.17 Oh, good. 00:29:34.24\00:29:35.57 And they were just precious, but yeah, these are... 00:29:35.60\00:29:37.97 The reason these are so valuable, 00:29:38.01\00:29:40.28 and we don't like to talk about a lot of times, 00:29:40.31\00:29:42.61 but we are in a spiritual warfare. 00:29:42.64\00:29:44.81 The devil wants our children. 00:29:44.85\00:29:46.92 He can destroy the church by destroying the family. 00:29:46.95\00:29:51.09 That's right. 00:29:51.12\00:29:52.45 And so he's going to start with our young people. 00:29:52.49\00:29:54.26 And for us to close our eyes and not believe 00:29:54.29\00:29:56.86 that our kids are being indoctrinated, 00:29:56.93\00:30:00.30 you know, in bad ways, it would be very foolish of us. 00:30:00.33\00:30:04.57 That's right. 00:30:04.60\00:30:05.93 It would be spiritually foolish of us. 00:30:05.97\00:30:07.34 So we have to combat that. 00:30:07.37\00:30:08.70 We're in a spiritual warfare, and some people say, 00:30:08.74\00:30:10.61 "Well, I don't like to think of that. 00:30:10.64\00:30:12.91 How can you be in warfare when you're spiritual?" 00:30:12.94\00:30:14.68 Well, there's a great controversy 00:30:14.71\00:30:16.68 going on between good and evil, between Christ and the devil. 00:30:16.75\00:30:20.15 So Christ is involved in a spiritual warfare. 00:30:20.22\00:30:23.99 We, as a result of sin, are also in spiritual warfare. 00:30:24.02\00:30:29.12 And so we have to equip our children 00:30:29.16\00:30:31.93 just like our armies do, our soldiers, 00:30:31.96\00:30:35.80 to go out on the front line of battle. 00:30:35.83\00:30:38.07 They don't send anyone out with no armor on 00:30:38.10\00:30:41.77 or with no protection, they send them out. 00:30:41.80\00:30:44.77 So the Bible says, 00:30:44.81\00:30:46.17 "We're to put on the whole armor of God." 00:30:46.21\00:30:48.78 And that whole armor is not the physical armor, 00:30:48.81\00:30:52.35 it's the spiritual armor. 00:30:52.38\00:30:54.02 That's right. 00:30:54.05\00:30:55.38 David tried to put on Saul's armor physically, 00:30:55.42\00:30:56.89 it was a hundred and whatever pounds, 00:30:56.92\00:30:58.25 he couldn't hardly walk with it. 00:30:58.29\00:30:59.62 So he took it off, but he put on the spiritual armor of God. 00:30:59.65\00:31:04.03 And then all of a sudden, 00:31:04.06\00:31:05.39 he was able to face Goliath and to do his job. 00:31:05.43\00:31:08.43 That's right. 00:31:08.46\00:31:09.80 So what this is doing, 00:31:09.83\00:31:11.17 it's equipping our kids to be prepared 00:31:11.20\00:31:14.24 because they're in, and we all are, 00:31:14.27\00:31:16.71 in a spiritual battle, whether we like it or not. 00:31:16.74\00:31:19.44 So we can't turn our heads, we can't blink our eyes. 00:31:19.47\00:31:22.14 I know parents 00:31:22.18\00:31:23.55 who let their kids listen to all kinds of stuff, 00:31:23.58\00:31:25.35 put on headphones just to babysit 00:31:25.38\00:31:27.95 'cause they're like, "I don't know 00:31:27.98\00:31:29.32 what to do with them, 00:31:29.35\00:31:30.69 and I can't get them to listen anymore, 00:31:30.72\00:31:32.05 I can't get them to read." 00:31:32.09\00:31:33.46 And my deal is that's because you, not them, 00:31:33.49\00:31:36.83 the reason they're that way is 00:31:36.86\00:31:38.39 you have let them put this junk in their ears 00:31:38.43\00:31:41.73 for hours at a time. 00:31:41.76\00:31:43.13 That's right. 00:31:43.16\00:31:44.50 You're letting them watch all these videos, 00:31:44.53\00:31:45.87 you're letting them, 00:31:45.90\00:31:47.24 and that's why we wrote these two projects, 00:31:47.27\00:31:50.04 The Love Rules and It's A Beautiful World, 00:31:50.11\00:31:52.84 one of the songs you just saw, I did that. 00:31:52.87\00:31:54.74 So our parents would have something to equip them 00:31:54.78\00:31:59.38 to give to the children to counteract the information 00:31:59.41\00:32:04.29 that they're already getting. 00:32:04.32\00:32:05.65 That's right. 00:32:05.69\00:32:07.02 And they're getting a lot of junk out there 00:32:07.06\00:32:08.39 and, you know, you've heard this as children, 00:32:08.42\00:32:10.03 garbage in, garbage out. 00:32:10.06\00:32:11.46 Yeah. 00:32:11.49\00:32:12.83 You know, so how do we expect our kids 00:32:12.86\00:32:14.20 to turn out to love Jesus 00:32:14.23\00:32:15.56 when we aren't feeding them spiritually? 00:32:15.60\00:32:17.47 Yeah, I just read a story where there's a ministry, 00:32:17.50\00:32:21.34 it's called, I think it's Coming Out Ministries, 00:32:21.37\00:32:23.91 and they're teaching young people 00:32:23.94\00:32:28.08 about homosexuality and how you can overcome it, 00:32:28.11\00:32:31.01 and there's actually a movement, 00:32:31.05\00:32:33.21 we're in the city, that everybody's against them, 00:32:33.25\00:32:35.75 saying, "This is not right 00:32:35.78\00:32:37.29 because they could influence young people 00:32:37.32\00:32:39.75 and you shouldn't influence the young people." 00:32:39.79\00:32:42.82 I was like, "Wait a minute, 00:32:42.86\00:32:44.59 so if we don't, who is influencing? 00:32:44.63\00:32:46.70 Exactly. 00:32:46.73\00:32:48.06 Those who are pro-homosexuality are doing it." 00:32:48.10\00:32:50.50 So there's no middle ground. 00:32:50.57\00:32:52.27 You can't just say, "Well, just turn on the TV. 00:32:52.30\00:32:56.27 Well, this happened, that happened." 00:32:56.30\00:32:58.11 We're on one side or the other, whether we like it or not. 00:32:58.14\00:33:00.98 So that's why to have tools like these bedtime stories, 00:33:01.01\00:33:05.15 the audio books, and the other. 00:33:05.18\00:33:07.15 You have another book, the prayer. 00:33:07.22\00:33:09.58 This is a book, Prayer Promises For Kids 00:33:09.62\00:33:12.52 because this is a little book 00:33:12.55\00:33:14.69 that is about, it's really... 00:33:14.72\00:33:18.49 My friend Kay Kuzma and I wrote this together, 00:33:18.53\00:33:21.20 co-wrote this together, and it's a book 00:33:21.23\00:33:23.57 that is to help kids pray claiming Bible promises. 00:33:23.60\00:33:27.70 And on each page, there's color pictures 00:33:27.74\00:33:30.34 that depicts what's going on in the prayer, 00:33:30.41\00:33:32.34 and these are prayers that are for kids of things 00:33:32.37\00:33:35.51 that kids face, 00:33:35.54\00:33:36.88 things that they would pray about. 00:33:36.95\00:33:38.28 Maybe it's for homework, making friends, bullies, 00:33:38.31\00:33:41.78 you know, eating disorders, you know, going to school 00:33:41.82\00:33:46.12 and fitting in, and making the right friends, 00:33:46.15\00:33:48.62 making good choices, 00:33:48.66\00:33:50.03 there's all the things that kids deal with. 00:33:50.06\00:33:52.96 And it's important to really help kids 00:33:52.99\00:33:56.67 learn how to pray claiming Bible promises 00:33:56.70\00:33:59.23 'cause that's a powerful way to pray. 00:33:59.27\00:34:00.64 But, Danny, honestly, in this day and age, 00:34:00.67\00:34:03.84 the families that I meet, 00:34:03.91\00:34:06.17 like you said, that they're feeding their kids 00:34:06.21\00:34:08.58 so much of our worldly things and not spiritual things, 00:34:08.61\00:34:11.81 it's affecting the outcome of our children. 00:34:11.85\00:34:14.52 Absolutely. 00:34:14.55\00:34:15.88 We wonder why our Sabbath school rooms 00:34:15.92\00:34:17.29 are empty 00:34:17.32\00:34:18.65 because, you know, as soon as kids have a chance to leave, 00:34:18.69\00:34:21.72 they're not coming back and they're not there. 00:34:21.76\00:34:24.03 And families I talk to don't even know 00:34:24.06\00:34:25.83 what family worship is anymore. 00:34:25.86\00:34:27.70 When I grew up, and I know you did too, 00:34:27.73\00:34:31.20 you know, every morning and every evening, 00:34:31.23\00:34:34.24 we had family worship. 00:34:34.27\00:34:35.64 And it didn't matter, 00:34:35.67\00:34:37.01 you know, how late we would be to an appointment, 00:34:37.04\00:34:39.41 or school, or doctors, or whatever, it didn't matter. 00:34:39.44\00:34:41.64 Nothing was going to shortchange 00:34:41.68\00:34:43.35 our time with God. 00:34:43.38\00:34:44.71 And families today don't even know how to worship. 00:34:44.75\00:34:47.65 We just completed 00:34:47.68\00:34:49.12 a brand new program on Kids Network 00:34:49.15\00:34:50.99 called Bible Treasures with Rich Aguilera. 00:34:51.02\00:34:53.19 It's for our Kids Time ages, kids ages 10 to 15, 00:34:53.22\00:34:57.03 it's a worship program, 15-minute worship program. 00:34:57.06\00:35:00.10 And we have a Tiny Tot Worship Program 00:35:00.13\00:35:01.63 that my sister Cinda hosted to, 00:35:01.66\00:35:05.67 you know, help the tiny tots so that they have... 00:35:05.70\00:35:07.84 Right. 00:35:07.87\00:35:09.20 These books are another way to have worship. 00:35:09.24\00:35:11.27 Parents will say, 00:35:11.31\00:35:12.64 "My kids get bored with worship, 00:35:12.67\00:35:14.01 they don't pay attention." 00:35:14.08\00:35:15.41 Why not start having worship with a story 00:35:15.44\00:35:18.41 because these are true character building stories 00:35:18.45\00:35:21.28 that will introduce kids to Jesus. 00:35:21.32\00:35:23.12 So I guarantee you, 00:35:23.15\00:35:25.42 they read a story a day for family worship, 00:35:25.45\00:35:28.02 that child is not going to be bored. 00:35:28.06\00:35:29.82 They are going to like... 00:35:29.86\00:35:31.19 And those stories are going to just linger with them. 00:35:31.23\00:35:34.66 When I talked with Mark Finley, 00:35:34.70\00:35:36.06 when I asked him if he would give me stories, 00:35:36.10\00:35:38.03 he said, "Brenda, 00:35:38.07\00:35:39.40 I would be proud to give you stories. 00:35:39.43\00:35:40.77 I would be happy to give you stories." 00:35:40.84\00:35:42.17 He said, "Of all the things that I read..." 00:35:42.20\00:35:45.14 And his wife, he said, will say the same thing. 00:35:45.17\00:35:47.18 When they were younger, 00:35:47.21\00:35:48.54 it was the Uncle Arthur Bedtime Stories 00:35:48.58\00:35:49.91 because he said, "Those stories kept playing... 00:35:49.94\00:35:52.41 The message in those stories 00:35:52.45\00:35:54.38 would play in my mind over and over, 00:35:54.42\00:35:55.85 I remember them because it was a story." 00:35:55.88\00:35:58.25 He said, "That had really... 00:35:58.29\00:36:00.46 If I credited anything to have the most impact on me 00:36:00.49\00:36:05.03 becoming the person I am today, it would be those stories." 00:36:05.06\00:36:08.16 He said, "I would be happy." 00:36:08.20\00:36:09.53 I said, "Well, I'm thinking about writing another five." 00:36:09.56\00:36:11.53 And he goes, "I'll give you one for everyone." 00:36:11.57\00:36:13.64 So, you know... 00:36:13.67\00:36:15.17 I'd be all for it. 00:36:15.20\00:36:16.54 I think it's incredible. 00:36:16.57\00:36:18.34 But again, you won't just read them once, 00:36:18.37\00:36:20.28 it's not something you read, 00:36:20.31\00:36:21.84 you'll read them over and over again. 00:36:21.88\00:36:23.58 You've read every story. 00:36:23.65\00:36:24.98 I've read every story, 00:36:25.01\00:36:26.35 and I've read them probably more than I'd say 00:36:26.38\00:36:27.72 maybe two or three times 00:36:27.75\00:36:29.15 because as long as she's willing to listen 00:36:29.18\00:36:31.85 and showed an interest in them, 00:36:31.89\00:36:33.56 and we did by talking about it. 00:36:33.59\00:36:35.19 In other words, you don't just 00:36:35.22\00:36:36.56 "Okay, it's time to read the story." 00:36:36.59\00:36:38.16 You talk about it and say, 00:36:38.19\00:36:39.53 "Now what do you think about this? 00:36:39.56\00:36:40.90 Well, what about that?" 00:36:40.93\00:36:42.26 Then we would say our prayers. 00:36:42.30\00:36:43.67 It strengthens the child's faith 00:36:43.70\00:36:46.10 because they see other young people 00:36:46.13\00:36:47.77 just like themselves. 00:36:47.80\00:36:49.50 Now to you and me, 00:36:49.54\00:36:51.74 Trinity's horse was having problems 00:36:51.77\00:36:53.98 that may not for a lot of people 00:36:54.01\00:36:55.44 won't affect anything, 00:36:55.48\00:36:56.85 but in her mind, God did, and we saw it. 00:36:56.88\00:37:00.75 See, He cares about everything, 00:37:00.82\00:37:02.18 nothing so small that God doesn't care about. 00:37:02.22\00:37:04.55 That's right. 00:37:04.59\00:37:05.92 But a lot of times, we just think 00:37:05.95\00:37:07.29 it's the big things in life. 00:37:07.36\00:37:08.69 That's right. 00:37:08.72\00:37:10.06 But when these children say, "You know what, 00:37:10.09\00:37:11.43 I prayed and I saw God answer this prayer," 00:37:11.46\00:37:13.70 that's life-changing. 00:37:13.73\00:37:15.06 They'll remember that the rest of their life. 00:37:15.10\00:37:17.17 They will. 00:37:17.20\00:37:18.53 They may at times stray, but they'll come back to it 00:37:18.57\00:37:20.34 because... 00:37:20.37\00:37:21.70 And that's what this is, 00:37:21.74\00:37:23.07 is literally a series of stories 00:37:23.10\00:37:26.78 that show the power of God in our lives, 00:37:26.81\00:37:30.95 in young people's lives particularly here 00:37:30.98\00:37:33.72 so they can understand it and relate to it. 00:37:33.75\00:37:38.45 And so these are wonderful. 00:37:38.49\00:37:39.82 So I would encourage you. 00:37:39.85\00:37:41.76 Now I may put on more work than she wants, 00:37:41.79\00:37:43.96 but if you've got some great stories... 00:37:44.03\00:37:45.43 That's right. Send them to me. 00:37:45.46\00:37:47.40 Maybe we need some more, you know, five more books. 00:37:47.43\00:37:50.87 So you have a total of ten 00:37:50.90\00:37:53.10 but maybe you should send your stories, 00:37:53.13\00:37:55.30 your great stories of... 00:37:55.34\00:37:58.21 I'm going to call, faith-building stories 00:37:58.24\00:38:00.71 of relationships of young people, 00:38:00.78\00:38:03.55 maybe your son, your daughter, 00:38:03.58\00:38:04.91 might be a nephew, a niece, 00:38:04.95\00:38:06.31 someone that you saw God working in their lives 00:38:06.35\00:38:09.12 and how they were drawn closer to the Lord. 00:38:09.15\00:38:11.39 And I like to say miracle stories. 00:38:11.42\00:38:13.29 God's in the business of doing miracle stories 00:38:13.36\00:38:15.56 for young people just like He is in older people. 00:38:15.59\00:38:17.89 Amen. 00:38:17.93\00:38:19.26 So I can't stress enough that we're in a battle, 00:38:19.29\00:38:24.87 there is no in-between, you can't sit on the fence, 00:38:24.90\00:38:27.27 you can't watch it, 00:38:27.34\00:38:28.67 you are either promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ 00:38:28.70\00:38:32.04 to your children and your grandchildren 00:38:32.07\00:38:34.44 or you're against it. 00:38:34.48\00:38:35.98 Do you know, Danny... 00:38:36.01\00:38:37.35 You're either for or against, there's no in between. 00:38:37.38\00:38:39.21 I was signing books at a church, 00:38:39.25\00:38:41.18 I won't tell you which one, not that long ago, 00:38:41.22\00:38:43.89 and there were children that came up 00:38:43.92\00:38:45.85 and they were looking at the books 00:38:45.89\00:38:47.26 and "Mommy, mommy, please can we have these books? 00:38:47.29\00:38:49.39 Can we have these books?" 00:38:49.42\00:38:51.69 And she said, "Now how much are those books?" 00:38:51.73\00:38:53.50 And I told her, you know, how much they were, 00:38:53.53\00:38:55.16 and they're really not that much 00:38:55.20\00:38:56.60 for these quality books, 00:38:56.67\00:38:58.40 and she's says, "Well, 00:38:58.43\00:39:00.64 you've been wanting that new Nintendo game, 00:39:00.67\00:39:02.44 so now, you know, if you want that new game, 00:39:02.47\00:39:06.07 then you won't be able to get these books." 00:39:06.11\00:39:09.81 And he goes, 00:39:09.84\00:39:11.35 "Well, you told me I could have that game." 00:39:11.38\00:39:12.81 "Well, if you're going to have these books, then you..." 00:39:12.85\00:39:14.75 And she literally stood there 00:39:14.78\00:39:16.12 and talked him out of these books. 00:39:16.15\00:39:19.49 I was like... 00:39:19.52\00:39:20.86 And that game that they wanted was more money. 00:39:20.89\00:39:22.42 Yeah. 00:39:22.46\00:39:23.83 You know, and I'm thinking, "What is she thinking?" 00:39:23.86\00:39:26.16 Yeah. 00:39:26.19\00:39:28.26 It's something that you see all the time 00:39:28.30\00:39:30.07 that people spend a lot of money 00:39:30.10\00:39:31.43 for their kids for worldly things, 00:39:31.47\00:39:34.14 nothing's going to bring them closer to Jesus... 00:39:34.17\00:39:36.30 But when it comes to something that's going to... 00:39:36.34\00:39:38.57 Most of it will take them farther away. 00:39:38.61\00:39:39.94 Exactly. 00:39:39.97\00:39:41.31 But you were talking about answered prayer 00:39:41.34\00:39:42.74 and how God answers prayer, 00:39:42.78\00:39:44.15 I have such an incredible answer 00:39:44.18\00:39:45.51 to prayer story while writing these books 00:39:45.55\00:39:47.65 that today, 00:39:47.68\00:39:49.25 even today when I think about it, I could just cry 00:39:49.28\00:39:51.19 because God just answered such... 00:39:51.22\00:39:53.56 We had... 00:39:53.59\00:39:54.92 I had, you know, all these out in one year I said. 00:39:54.96\00:39:57.43 Well, we had a deadline to get those out 00:39:57.46\00:39:59.46 because if you don't get them out 00:39:59.49\00:40:01.16 before camp-meeting 00:40:01.20\00:40:02.53 and get all the camp-meeting sales 00:40:02.56\00:40:03.90 and get them all pushed out, 00:40:03.97\00:40:05.30 you want them all out there 00:40:05.33\00:40:06.67 or they don't really want to promote them 00:40:06.70\00:40:08.20 till the following year. 00:40:08.24\00:40:09.57 So there was a deadline for print for me, 00:40:09.60\00:40:11.44 and I had one story left, 00:40:11.47\00:40:14.48 we find the pictures for everything, 00:40:14.51\00:40:15.98 and I had one story, and I was, 00:40:16.01\00:40:18.55 you know, I had Melissa and CQ, 00:40:18.58\00:40:20.92 we were actually at CQ's house, 00:40:20.95\00:40:22.38 and we were all trying to find the pictures to this one story. 00:40:22.42\00:40:26.12 The story was of a family, a mother had given me a story, 00:40:26.15\00:40:29.76 her daughter had cerebral palsy, 00:40:29.79\00:40:32.16 and she had told this beautiful heartwarming story 00:40:32.19\00:40:34.46 of how her daughter wanted to run in a school race, 00:40:34.50\00:40:38.40 and, you know, without giving all the details, 00:40:38.43\00:40:42.34 coach had picked her up and taken her across, 00:40:42.37\00:40:45.14 you know, and run with her. 00:40:45.17\00:40:47.78 And so we were trying to find pictures 00:40:47.81\00:40:51.95 that would depict what's going on in this race, 00:40:51.98\00:40:54.12 and the mother did not want me 00:40:54.15\00:40:55.48 to use her daughter's name or pictures. 00:40:55.52\00:40:57.49 They had pictures but she didn't want. 00:40:57.52\00:40:58.85 So that means we had to get stock pictures 00:40:58.89\00:41:00.86 and we could not find any pictures of a girl 00:41:00.89\00:41:04.59 that was 12-years-old that, 00:41:04.63\00:41:06.49 you know, had cerebral palsy, and we looked and we looked. 00:41:06.53\00:41:09.33 Now our deadline is 8:30 that next morning. 00:41:09.36\00:41:12.30 We were working hard, by 9 o'clock at night, 00:41:12.33\00:41:15.07 there still we haven't found pictures 00:41:15.10\00:41:16.71 and we were looking and Melissa's googling, 00:41:16.74\00:41:18.81 and googling, and all of us are working, can't find it. 00:41:18.84\00:41:23.95 So we get down, we pray, 00:41:23.98\00:41:26.75 we go back to work, looking, we can't find it. 00:41:26.82\00:41:29.72 Now it is almost midnight and we don't want to give up. 00:41:29.75\00:41:32.85 If we don't find the pictures to this last story, 00:41:32.89\00:41:35.86 we will not go to press the next day. 00:41:35.89\00:41:38.09 And all of a sudden, Melissa said, "You know what, 00:41:38.13\00:41:40.40 I found a picture of a boy with cerebral palsy." 00:41:40.43\00:41:44.33 And she said, 00:41:44.37\00:41:45.70 "Maybe since they wanted to disguise the story, 00:41:45.73\00:41:47.07 they'll just let us make it a boy." 00:41:47.14\00:41:48.67 And I said, "I don't feel good about that, 00:41:48.70\00:41:50.61 but let's call and see." 00:41:50.64\00:41:53.98 So she said, "Well, I don't know 00:41:54.01\00:41:55.34 if this is even related, 00:41:55.38\00:41:56.71 it was on a blog somewhere and I don't even know 00:41:56.75\00:41:58.48 if they're related to this boy." 00:41:58.51\00:41:59.85 And so I said, "Give me the number." 00:41:59.88\00:42:01.42 And she yells, "Brenda, it's midnight." 00:42:01.45\00:42:02.92 I said, "Find out where that number is." 00:42:02.95\00:42:04.55 And she goes, "It's California. 00:42:04.59\00:42:05.92 Well, it's only 9 o'clock there, 00:42:05.95\00:42:07.29 let's do it." 00:42:07.36\00:42:08.69 You know, I said okay. 00:42:08.72\00:42:10.06 So I dialed the number to tell them... 00:42:10.09\00:42:11.59 I asked for the father's name and he goes, 00:42:11.63\00:42:14.86 "Well, you're speaking to him." 00:42:14.90\00:42:16.23 And I nearly about, you know, fell out of my chair 00:42:16.26\00:42:18.53 and I said, so now I'm so excited. 00:42:18.57\00:42:20.64 I said, "I can't believe it, I'm so excited to talk to you." 00:42:20.67\00:42:22.34 And he's like, "Who is this crazy woman?" 00:42:22.37\00:42:25.11 And I said, "Oh..." 00:42:25.14\00:42:26.54 I said, "Let me tell you who I am." 00:42:26.57\00:42:27.91 I said, "Are you at your computer?" 00:42:27.94\00:42:29.64 He goes, "Yeah, I work on my computer late at night." 00:42:29.68\00:42:31.95 And I said, "Type in BrendaWalsh.com, 00:42:31.98\00:42:34.48 that's my website. 00:42:34.52\00:42:35.85 So you'll know who you're talking to." 00:42:35.88\00:42:37.22 So he did and he goes, "Oh..." 00:42:37.29\00:42:38.62 He said, "So you're in ministry." 00:42:38.65\00:42:39.99 And I said, "Let me tell you 00:42:40.02\00:42:41.36 why I'm so desperate to talk to you." 00:42:41.39\00:42:42.72 And I said, "My assistant found on the blog 00:42:42.76\00:42:44.49 and we have one more story, 00:42:44.53\00:42:45.86 if we don't make this story by 8:30 in the morning, 00:42:45.89\00:42:47.53 we miss the deadline, 00:42:47.60\00:42:48.93 and it will be another year before these books get out. 00:42:48.96\00:42:51.40 It's so critical." 00:42:51.43\00:42:52.77 And he goes, he said, 00:42:52.80\00:42:55.30 "Well, can I tell you the story behind this?" 00:42:55.34\00:42:58.54 And he told me his son's story. 00:42:58.57\00:43:00.08 It was almost identical to the girl's story. 00:43:00.11\00:43:02.61 And he told me how his... 00:43:02.64\00:43:03.98 When his son was born, his wife said, 00:43:04.05\00:43:07.02 "Either you give the boy up for adoption or I'm leaving." 00:43:07.05\00:43:11.35 And he said, "I couldn't do it, I couldn't abandon my son. 00:43:11.39\00:43:14.26 And so his mother left us and I have raised this boy. 00:43:14.29\00:43:17.63 And every day," he said, "I thank God for this boy. 00:43:17.66\00:43:21.43 He's got the best spirit, 00:43:21.46\00:43:22.80 he's brilliant, he goes to school." 00:43:22.83\00:43:24.77 And then he told me the story 00:43:24.80\00:43:26.13 of how his son had wanted to run 00:43:26.17\00:43:28.04 so desperately and he literally told me that whole story. 00:43:28.07\00:43:31.37 And when he got done, I said, 00:43:31.41\00:43:35.01 "How would you feel if I rewrote this story 00:43:35.04\00:43:37.35 and I wrote your son's story? 00:43:37.38\00:43:39.05 Would you be willing to give his pictures?" 00:43:39.08\00:43:41.18 He goes, "Yeah." 00:43:41.22\00:43:42.55 I said, "But I need the pictures now." 00:43:42.58\00:43:44.59 And I said, "I'll stay up all night and write the story, 00:43:44.62\00:43:46.25 but I need the pictures now. 00:43:46.29\00:43:47.66 I would need a picture of the medal he got, 00:43:47.69\00:43:49.46 I would need the picture of him in his wheelchair 00:43:49.49\00:43:52.26 with this communication board." 00:43:52.29\00:43:53.73 He goes, he said, 00:43:53.80\00:43:55.23 "I'll send them to you right now." 00:43:55.26\00:43:56.67 And I said, 00:43:56.70\00:43:58.03 "Well, I need a release form signed 00:43:58.07\00:43:59.40 or I can't use them." 00:43:59.43\00:44:00.77 He goes, "Well, fax it to me. I'll fax it to you right now." 00:44:00.84\00:44:02.94 Literally, within 30 minutes, 00:44:02.97\00:44:05.04 I have all the pictures for this story, 00:44:05.07\00:44:07.41 and in fact, it's the second-to-last story 00:44:07.48\00:44:09.98 in the last book. 00:44:10.05\00:44:12.28 It's called The Impossible Race, 00:44:12.31\00:44:16.12 and I have the boy's real pictures in here in fact. 00:44:16.15\00:44:21.72 I'm going to just put this like that. 00:44:21.76\00:44:23.86 It is just the most amazing story. 00:44:23.93\00:44:27.60 And he said, "Well, could you use his real name?" 00:44:27.63\00:44:30.97 I said, "Absolutely." 00:44:31.00\00:44:32.33 There you go. Hold it right there. 00:44:32.37\00:44:33.94 Okay. 00:44:33.97\00:44:35.30 He says, "Could you use his nickname?" 00:44:35.34\00:44:36.67 And he said, "They call him Cool Bobby B." 00:44:36.71\00:44:39.01 I said, "Absolutely." 00:44:39.04\00:44:40.81 So I rewrote that story. 00:44:40.88\00:44:42.34 You guys are not going to want to miss this story. 00:44:42.38\00:44:44.25 Oh, no. 00:44:44.28\00:44:45.61 I have never told this story at a children's store 00:44:45.65\00:44:46.98 where people are crying, adults too. 00:44:47.02\00:44:48.98 It is the most amazing story. 00:44:49.02\00:44:50.82 God just answered so many prayers, Danny. 00:44:50.89\00:44:53.56 We got down on our knees, we thanked Jesus. 00:44:53.59\00:44:55.96 I mean, that's how much... 00:44:55.99\00:44:58.73 Now this might seem like a little thing to somebody, 00:44:58.76\00:45:01.23 but it made the difference of people 00:45:01.26\00:45:02.93 being able to have the books, 00:45:02.96\00:45:05.47 you know, right then and there rather than wait a year 00:45:05.50\00:45:07.97 and God gave us that story for that book. 00:45:08.00\00:45:10.61 He wanted that Cool Bobby B story 00:45:10.64\00:45:12.81 in this book. 00:45:12.84\00:45:14.18 It was amazing. 00:48:07.45\00:48:09.18 Oh, honey," and she'd go to sleep 00:48:09.22\00:48:11.52 and she'd say, "Am I still here?" 00:48:11.55\00:48:13.36 You know, she just... 00:48:13.39\00:48:14.72 It is a wonderful story, "Prayed Up and Ready To Go" 00:48:14.76\00:48:17.63 in that book Passionate Prayer. 00:48:17.66\00:48:19.09 You know, being a prayer warrior, 00:48:19.13\00:48:20.80 Danny, 00:48:20.83\00:48:24.67 that is how we have a relationship with Jesus. 00:48:24.70\00:48:27.04 We don't have a relationship with Jesus without prayer 00:48:27.07\00:48:29.87 and also listening to God's words to us 00:48:29.90\00:48:32.84 through God's Holy Word. 00:48:32.87\00:48:34.21 And so it's not... 00:48:34.28\00:48:35.61 When you're having a conversational relationship 00:48:35.64\00:48:37.05 with someone, 00:48:37.08\00:48:38.41 it can't be one person doing all the talking. 00:48:38.45\00:48:39.78 You know, it's got to be a two-way street. 00:48:39.81\00:48:41.15 Yeah. 00:48:41.18\00:48:42.52 And we need to listen too, and God will speak to us 00:48:42.55\00:48:43.89 through His Word. 00:48:43.92\00:48:45.25 God's going to speak to kids through these books, 00:48:45.29\00:48:47.09 and He does, and He already does. 00:48:47.16\00:48:48.49 I get letters all the time from kids 00:48:48.52\00:48:52.73 who are blessed by these books, 00:48:52.76\00:48:56.03 have given their heart to Jesus from these books. 00:48:56.06\00:48:58.00 One little boy wrote me a letter 00:48:58.03\00:49:00.57 and he said, "Miss Brenda," 00:49:00.64\00:49:01.97 he said, "I wanted you to know 00:49:02.00\00:49:03.34 that I don't use bad words anymore." 00:49:03.41\00:49:06.98 And I was like, "Thank you, Jesus. 00:49:07.01\00:49:08.64 Okay, he gets it," you know? 00:49:08.68\00:49:10.55 And another little girl told me 00:49:10.58\00:49:11.91 that she was tempted to steal a candy bar 00:49:11.95\00:49:14.85 and she didn't do it. 00:49:14.88\00:49:17.19 She put it back. She picked it up. 00:49:17.22\00:49:18.89 She was thinking about it. 00:49:18.92\00:49:20.26 She knew no one's looking. She said, "I knew it." 00:49:20.29\00:49:21.86 And then she said, "I remembered your story of, 00:49:21.89\00:49:25.63 you know, somebody stealing in the book." 00:49:25.66\00:49:29.00 And she said, "I put it back." 00:49:29.03\00:49:30.37 And she said "No, I don't want to miss out on heaven." 00:49:30.40\00:49:33.64 Okay. 00:49:33.67\00:49:35.00 So, you know, it really is... 00:49:35.04\00:49:38.11 Important to teach our children 00:49:38.14\00:49:40.41 who Jesus is, how much He loves them, 00:49:40.48\00:49:43.21 and that He's coming back soon. 00:49:43.24\00:49:44.78 Yeah. 00:49:44.81\00:49:46.15 And this is really just a powerful soul witnessing tool 00:49:46.18\00:49:48.78 to help children know more about Jesus. 00:49:48.82\00:49:51.69 The Bible says, "Train up a child 00:49:51.72\00:49:53.36 in the way he should go." 00:49:53.39\00:49:54.96 And I mean, I'm amazed 00:49:54.99\00:49:57.66 when I look around and we have to... 00:49:57.69\00:50:00.10 Sometimes, it's tougher for us older folks to understand 00:50:00.13\00:50:04.77 what our young people are dealing with, 00:50:04.80\00:50:06.94 the social media, 00:50:06.97\00:50:08.30 the things that they can watch on their phone,... 00:50:08.34\00:50:11.87 on their Some of them have iPads 00:50:11.91\00:50:13.88 or computers things that... 00:50:13.91\00:50:15.44 Texting. 00:50:15.48\00:50:16.85 Oh, I mean, it's terrible. It is. 00:50:16.88\00:50:18.98 And so they're constantly, the world... 00:50:19.01\00:50:23.49 I'm going to say the secular, 00:50:23.52\00:50:25.99 you know, or secularization of our children is terrible 00:50:26.02\00:50:31.46 because the world is going to put it in there 00:50:31.49\00:50:33.93 and they're influenced by the devil. 00:50:34.00\00:50:35.73 We have to be putting in 00:50:35.76\00:50:37.67 to our young people the Word of God. 00:50:37.70\00:50:40.34 And without that, 00:50:40.37\00:50:42.04 how can they possibly ever know right from wrong 00:50:42.07\00:50:45.67 because you listen to what's going on 00:50:45.71\00:50:48.48 and every wind of doctrine is being blown? 00:50:48.51\00:50:52.61 We have young people in our churches who are saying, 00:50:52.65\00:50:55.18 "Well, I don't see anything wrong 00:50:55.22\00:50:56.55 with same-sex marriage 00:50:56.58\00:50:57.92 or I don't see anything wrong with abortion or whatever" 00:50:57.95\00:51:00.56 because the media that they're listening to 00:51:00.59\00:51:02.56 and watching so promotes all of this stuff, 00:51:02.59\00:51:05.59 they think it's okay. 00:51:05.63\00:51:07.00 We have an opportunity to ground these kids in Jesus 00:51:07.03\00:51:10.40 first of all, and these type of books 00:51:10.47\00:51:12.07 will do that. 00:51:12.10\00:51:13.44 Once they are grounded in that God is alive and well, 00:51:13.47\00:51:17.74 that Jesus came and gave His life for us 00:51:17.77\00:51:20.08 on the cross of Calvary, 00:51:20.11\00:51:21.51 He's now ever interceding 00:51:21.54\00:51:22.98 at the right hand of the Father, 00:51:23.01\00:51:24.75 and that someday when this life is over, 00:51:24.78\00:51:27.62 we are going to face the Maker, 00:51:27.65\00:51:29.28 we're either going to be ready for heaven 00:51:29.32\00:51:31.09 or we're going to be lost for eternity. 00:51:31.12\00:51:33.15 And so once they understand this, 00:51:33.19\00:51:35.32 they're grounded and rooted, but it starts somewhere. 00:51:35.36\00:51:38.66 These stories are great to have, 00:51:38.69\00:51:41.43 Miss Brenda's Bedtime Stories. 00:51:41.46\00:51:43.23 The books, the audio books are a great start. 00:51:43.26\00:51:46.33 The music CDs, anything that you can get 00:51:46.37\00:51:49.40 that promote Jesus Christ and Him crucified 00:51:49.44\00:51:53.68 and they show faith-building stories 00:51:53.71\00:51:56.04 that your child's not out there, 00:51:56.08\00:51:57.68 they never have to be alone. 00:51:57.71\00:51:59.08 They're always going to have Jesus. 00:51:59.11\00:52:01.28 Once they understand that, 00:52:01.32\00:52:02.88 that's the road to them growing spiritually 00:52:02.92\00:52:06.15 and winning this spiritual warfare. 00:52:06.19\00:52:08.09 So I'm encouraging each and every one of you, 00:52:08.12\00:52:10.96 contact Miss Brenda 00:52:10.99\00:52:12.76 and look at all of the information she has, 00:52:12.79\00:52:15.46 especially on the young people here, 00:52:15.50\00:52:17.27 the prayer book, promises, 00:52:17.30\00:52:19.93 you really need that, 00:52:19.97\00:52:21.30 but these bedtime stories, the audio. 00:52:21.34\00:52:23.00 She has a number of other books too 00:52:23.04\00:52:24.57 for us older folks. 00:52:24.61\00:52:25.94 So what I'd like to do 00:52:25.97\00:52:27.31 is I want to go to an address right now, 00:52:27.38\00:52:29.14 then we're going to have a news break 00:52:29.18\00:52:30.95 and we'll be back for closing comment. 00:52:30.98\00:52:32.91 If you would like to find out more 00:52:35.92\00:52:37.32 about Miss Brenda's Bedtime Stories, 00:52:37.39\00:52:39.72 please visit her website BrendaWalsh.com. 00:52:39.75\00:52:43.43 Each volume in this set 00:52:43.46\00:52:44.86 includes more than 25 delightful true stories 00:52:44.89\00:52:48.33 to help children learn about forgiveness, 00:52:48.36\00:52:50.70 answered prayer, obedience, and much more. 00:52:50.77\00:52:54.54 You may order the story books or audio books online 00:52:54.57\00:52:57.71 at BrendaWalsh.com. 00:52:57.74\00:53:00.08 If you would like to invite Brenda 00:53:00.11\00:53:01.58 to speak in your area, 00:53:01.61\00:53:02.94 just give her a call 00:53:02.98\00:53:04.31 at area code (865) 776-4908. 00:53:04.35\00:53:09.78 That's (865) 776-4908. 00:53:09.82\00:53:14.16 Or email her at brenda@BrendaWalsh.com. 00:53:14.19\00:53:18.66
