Oh wow. 00:09:22.72\00:09:25.06 Women are twice as likely as men to live below the poverty line 00:09:25.29\00:09:30.63 in their older years. 00:09:30.67\00:09:32.20 ~ So I'm sorry, Mollie, to interrupt you. 00:09:32.60\00:09:34.24 That means then that the women's fear that they're going to be 00:09:34.27\00:09:36.91 destitute actually comes to pass. 00:09:36.94\00:09:38.74 ~ That's right. - Right? 00:09:38.77\00:09:40.11 Because the second statistic backed up the first statistic. 00:09:40.14\00:09:43.48 They're afraid they'll be alone and old and destitute, 00:09:43.51\00:09:46.48 and that actually comes to pass. 00:09:46.51\00:09:48.02 And that's why, ladies, preparation needs to be made. 00:09:48.18\00:09:52.82 Because if you properly prepare for your later years, 00:09:52.85\00:09:57.79 then you cut your chances of being destitute. 00:09:57.99\00:10:02.76 And this poverty level is especially true 00:10:02.80\00:10:06.94 for single and minority women. 00:10:06.97\00:10:09.34 Here is another fact. 00:10:09.64\00:10:11.04 In a study conducted on the financial circumstances 00:10:11.07\00:10:15.08 of widowed women, half of the widows reported 00:10:15.11\00:10:19.05 they were just getting by financially a year or two 00:10:19.08\00:10:23.49 after their husband's death. 00:10:23.52\00:10:24.89 So as long as their husbands were working and bringing 00:10:24.92\00:10:28.62 income in, their household was doing well. 00:10:28.66\00:10:31.86 But at their husband's demise, then that left them 00:10:31.89\00:10:35.30 so that just a year or two later they were just getting by. 00:10:35.33\00:10:39.07 Which reminds me of something I read recently of a lady 00:10:39.10\00:10:43.27 whose husband passed away. 00:10:43.57\00:10:45.21 And she was in his office cleaning up the office. 00:10:45.24\00:10:48.84 And she found on his desk an insurance policy 00:10:48.88\00:10:53.31 for her for $100,000 that he never signed. 00:10:53.35\00:10:57.79 Filled out but never signed it, never turned it back in. 00:10:57.82\00:11:00.46 And here with the expenses of his last bout, 00:11:00.76\00:11:06.03 his last stay in the hospital, she was in debt with 00:11:06.06\00:11:09.00 no way to pay her debts. 00:11:09.03\00:11:10.37 And so, what kind of condition did this leave this women in? 00:11:10.57\00:11:14.47 So you know, I share that. 00:11:14.50\00:11:16.37 Women, talk with your husbands about making provision for you. 00:11:16.47\00:11:20.78 Let me just give you one more fact, one last statistic. 00:11:21.24\00:11:26.11 The average life expectancy of a woman 00:11:26.31\00:11:28.85 is five years more than a man's. 00:11:28.88\00:11:30.89 Tell your husband this. 00:11:30.92\00:11:32.49 Women normally live to be about 81 years old. 00:11:32.52\00:11:35.39 That's the average. Men 76. 00:11:35.42\00:11:38.56 So there's five years that you can pretty well 00:11:38.66\00:11:42.83 count on that you're going to have to have 00:11:42.86\00:11:45.23 some sort of income. 00:11:45.27\00:11:46.60 Talk with your husband, "Have you made provision for me 00:11:46.63\00:11:49.40 if you pass before I do?" 00:11:49.44\00:11:51.37 And sometimes those men just need to have a little 00:11:51.41\00:11:55.31 jarring to turn that insurance policy in. 00:11:55.34\00:11:59.88 The divorce rate... 00:12:01.48\00:12:03.02 I found this just heartbreaking. 00:12:03.12\00:12:04.75 And this isn't just in the world, 00:12:04.79\00:12:07.12 it's in the church as well. 00:12:07.16\00:12:08.82 The divorce rate among couples 50 and older 00:12:08.86\00:12:12.73 has almost doubled since the 90's. 00:12:12.76\00:12:15.40 Almost doubled. 00:12:15.80\00:12:17.13 Okay, these two forces mean that 8 out of 10 women 00:12:17.17\00:12:22.17 will end up alone and solely responsible 00:12:22.37\00:12:26.81 for their financial well-being. 00:12:26.84\00:12:28.61 Maybe it's just for five years, but do you want those 00:12:28.64\00:12:31.48 last five years of your life for you to be in poverty? 00:12:31.51\00:12:34.98 Remember, 50% of the women surveyed 00:12:35.02\00:12:38.45 what they say their number one fear it? 00:12:39.02\00:12:41.72 Being destitute in their old age. 00:12:42.09\00:12:44.23 So we that are younger, Jill, you're a lot younger, 00:12:44.26\00:12:48.80 make provision now. 00:12:50.30\00:12:51.83 Don't let it get away from you. 00:12:51.87\00:12:53.23 Okay, one last statistic. 00:12:53.27\00:12:55.30 When seeking financial direction, 00:12:55.60\00:12:58.67 only 12% of women seek the assistance of a professional. 00:13:00.08\00:13:04.48 The rest ask family members or friends. 00:13:04.95\00:13:08.28 Now, is that wise? 00:13:08.32\00:13:10.59 And again, the reason 3ABN does these programs, 00:13:10.62\00:13:14.09 we have got financial professionals that are 00:13:14.29\00:13:18.79 on our staff that are willing... 00:13:18.83\00:13:22.36 Are you willing, Earlenne? 00:13:22.40\00:13:23.77 I am very willing. 00:13:23.80\00:13:25.13 ...capable and able to help you. 00:13:25.17\00:13:28.17 And here is a beauty, a real touch of beauty. 00:13:28.20\00:13:31.87 How much do you charge, Earlenne? 00:13:31.97\00:13:33.91 Well I give my whole heart to it. 00:13:34.74\00:13:37.15 I don't charge anything. 00:13:37.75\00:13:39.35 And on top of that, 3ABN does pay for the 00:13:39.38\00:13:43.52 documents to be written for you. 00:13:43.55\00:13:45.35 - That's a big plus. - We do everything for you. 00:13:45.39\00:13:47.56 It doesn't cost you anything. 00:13:47.59\00:13:48.92 But you know what it will do? 00:13:48.96\00:13:50.33 Put some security in your heart. 00:13:50.36\00:13:51.69 Now I told you this was three fold. 00:13:51.73\00:13:53.50 Number one, I want to get your attention, ladies. 00:13:53.53\00:13:56.10 We need to take responsibility for our lives. 00:13:56.13\00:13:59.90 And we need to do it today. 00:13:59.93\00:14:01.67 Today is the day we need to begin this. 00:14:01.70\00:14:03.87 Okay, another aspect is that in a survey in the world, 00:14:04.71\00:14:13.72 now this was worldwide, there were 99 women 00:14:13.75\00:14:16.85 that were billionaires. 00:14:16.89\00:14:18.22 Whoa! 00:14:18.25\00:14:19.59 Only ten of those women earned their own money. 00:14:19.75\00:14:23.49 Like Oprah, you know, she's a self-made billionaire. 00:14:23.53\00:14:27.10 The other 89 inherited. 00:14:27.40\00:14:30.33 So I wanted to also touch on this. 00:14:30.37\00:14:33.30 Some women will become very wealthy 00:14:33.34\00:14:37.24 because of what they inherited. 00:14:37.34\00:14:39.01 They say that the baby boomers, not just women, 00:14:39.04\00:14:41.98 but men and women... 00:14:42.01\00:14:43.35 That's people born from, I think it's like 1946 to 1955. 00:14:43.38\00:14:48.55 Those baby boomers over the next 20 years 00:14:48.58\00:14:51.52 are going to inherit over 14 billion dollars. 00:14:51.55\00:14:56.36 So some of that will be for women. 00:14:56.39\00:14:58.59 And I just want to give you this aspect. 00:14:58.63\00:15:01.50 You need to be prepared now. 00:15:01.53\00:15:03.16 You need to seek financial help not from friends and family. 00:15:03.20\00:15:07.64 Do you know that when your friends find out 00:15:07.67\00:15:11.01 that you've inherited a lot of money, 00:15:11.04\00:15:12.94 some people that you never even knew will come and tell you 00:15:12.97\00:15:15.54 they're your best friend now. 00:15:15.58\00:15:17.08 Why? Because they want part of your inheritance. 00:15:17.11\00:15:19.75 And there are charming men that will tell you 00:15:20.02\00:15:22.65 anything, but what they want is... 00:15:22.85\00:15:25.29 So we need to be prepared now to take care of the blessings 00:15:25.32\00:15:29.39 that God blesses us with. 00:15:29.42\00:15:31.66 That's called being a good steward. 00:15:31.69\00:15:33.70 So that was the third point that I wanted us to address, 00:15:33.73\00:15:37.63 was, what does the Bible say? 00:15:37.83\00:15:39.67 Tell us about stewardship? 00:15:39.70\00:15:41.20 And I thought Greg and Jill could look into stewardship. 00:15:41.24\00:15:44.14 Before I jump into stewardship, if I could just say, 00:15:44.87\00:15:47.38 we have been talking about one of the reasons 00:15:47.41\00:15:50.25 why you want to invest with the ministry of 3ABN. 00:15:50.45\00:15:54.45 That would be, you want financial 00:15:54.48\00:15:55.82 security for the future. 00:15:55.85\00:15:57.19 You want to plan. And that is vitally important. 00:15:57.22\00:16:00.39 And as a woman, I can say from my own perspective, 00:16:00.42\00:16:03.56 it's vitally important. 00:16:03.59\00:16:04.93 But I think the other reason is that you want 00:16:04.96\00:16:08.06 to give, to put your money some place where you know 00:16:08.10\00:16:12.03 it has life changing value. 00:16:12.07\00:16:13.40 Where you know it is going to impact the world. 00:16:13.44\00:16:16.97 Greg and I recently had the privilege of developing a trust, 00:16:17.01\00:16:21.18 revocable cash trust, I think... 00:16:21.54\00:16:23.24 Is that what it's called, Earlenne? 00:16:23.28\00:16:24.65 ...with 3ABN. 00:16:24.68\00:16:26.18 And right now we're talking about a self-administered trust. 00:16:26.55\00:16:29.08 And I know we'll talk about these documents 00:16:29.12\00:16:30.69 throughout the program. 00:16:30.72\00:16:32.05 But it's a privilege and an honor to be able to 00:16:32.09\00:16:36.19 think that something of this money... 00:16:36.22\00:16:39.19 Of course, it's earning interest. 00:16:39.46\00:16:41.16 And the interest rates are incredible. 00:16:41.20\00:16:42.76 And that's an incredible blessing. 00:16:42.80\00:16:44.13 But it's a privilege to think that this money is going 00:16:44.17\00:16:47.14 to win souls for the kingdom. 00:16:47.17\00:16:49.07 That people are coming to a knowledge of Jesus. 00:16:49.10\00:16:52.84 So it's not only for our future and betterment, 00:16:53.04\00:16:55.74 but it's also for the mission, the gospel mission, of 3ABN. 00:16:55.78\00:17:00.12 So it's a privilege. 00:17:00.15\00:17:01.72 It is. And you know you were talking about age. 00:17:01.75\00:17:04.85 And I think sometimes Jill and I still consider us young. 00:17:04.89\00:17:07.89 And I think the word that I think of is procrastination. 00:17:08.99\00:17:12.36 You know, because it's like, Jill and I talk about it, 00:17:12.79\00:17:14.36 we're like, "Oh, we need to probably do something, 00:17:14.40\00:17:17.17 think about the future. 00:17:17.20\00:17:18.53 But oh, you know, we're busy. 00:17:18.57\00:17:19.90 We'll talk about it tomorrow or next week." 00:17:19.93\00:17:22.60 And before you know it, one year, two years, three years, 00:17:22.64\00:17:26.44 you know, have gone by. 00:17:26.47\00:17:27.81 And I think it's, sometimes for us I know, 00:17:27.84\00:17:29.84 just the business of life. 00:17:29.88\00:17:31.21 But it's good, I think as young people... 00:17:31.25\00:17:33.62 Right? We're still young, baby. 00:17:33.65\00:17:34.98 Thank you. 00:17:35.02\00:17:36.35 ...that we also need to be thinking about the future. 00:17:36.69\00:17:39.82 Because we don't... Tomorrow is not promised. 00:17:39.85\00:17:42.42 You know, we could be killed in an auto accident, 00:17:42.86\00:17:44.49 or just different things could happen. 00:17:44.53\00:17:45.86 But I think for planning, God wants us, like you mentioned, 00:17:46.09\00:17:48.26 Mollie, to be a good steward of what He's given to us. 00:17:48.30\00:17:51.23 And I like the song, going back to Pastor Kelly 00:17:51.27\00:17:54.67 and his song, little is much when God is in it. 00:17:54.77\00:17:56.64 I think sometimes we can also become discouraged 00:17:56.91\00:17:59.04 in our benevolence. 00:17:59.07\00:18:00.41 You know, because we think, "Oh, this isn't very much. 00:18:00.44\00:18:03.71 Surely that can't do much in God's work." 00:18:03.75\00:18:05.65 But do you know, God can take anything 00:18:05.68\00:18:07.42 and make something awesome out of it. 00:18:07.75\00:18:10.09 So anyway, Jill and I just recently, like you mentioned, 00:18:10.12\00:18:12.75 it's been something that we said, we just need to do it, 00:18:12.79\00:18:15.39 make a decision, we'll make a date 00:18:15.59\00:18:17.09 with you guys, with you and your husband, Earlenne. 00:18:17.13\00:18:20.20 And it was a great experience, very pleasant, easy. 00:18:20.23\00:18:23.67 - It was. - They make it very easy. 00:18:23.70\00:18:25.03 And you're very informative, too. 00:18:25.07\00:18:27.40 Because even though we work at 3ABN, 00:18:27.44\00:18:29.70 we still have some questions about what is a cash trust, 00:18:29.74\00:18:32.34 and a property trust, and so you just explained it very well. 00:18:32.37\00:18:35.24 - And so it's a blessing. - It was. 00:18:35.28\00:18:37.35 Greg, this is also a good time for me to mention 00:18:37.38\00:18:39.61 that many people say, "But Jesus is coming soon." 00:18:39.65\00:18:44.25 Well that's true, yeah. 00:18:44.29\00:18:45.62 "Should I really go through all these plans?" 00:18:45.65\00:18:47.36 Remember, we're suppose to occupy until He comes. 00:18:47.99\00:18:50.79 That means in our finances, our homes, our families. 00:18:51.06\00:18:54.60 Everything. We are to keep going forward. 00:18:54.63\00:18:57.27 And good planning is part of going forward. 00:18:57.57\00:19:00.30 ~ It's part of being a good steward. 00:19:00.34\00:19:01.67 - It sure is. - It is. 00:19:01.70\00:19:03.81 And I'll mention stewardship. 00:19:03.84\00:19:05.24 I just want to say Roy and Earlenne are such a privilege 00:19:05.27\00:19:08.04 and a joy to work with. 00:19:08.08\00:19:09.44 They came in on Friday because we kept trying to say 00:19:09.81\00:19:12.95 we'll do it during the week, during work hours. 00:19:12.98\00:19:15.42 ~ Well that's true. Yeah, you're right. 00:19:15.48\00:19:16.82 We're always in meetings and could never get away 00:19:16.85\00:19:18.99 and go over, we call it the white house, 00:19:19.02\00:19:20.82 where Planned Giving and Trust Services is over there. 00:19:20.86\00:19:23.66 And they came in on Friday morning 00:19:23.69\00:19:25.23 and just sat down and answered all our questions, 00:19:25.46\00:19:28.73 and so knowledgeable, you and your husband both are, so. 00:19:28.76\00:19:32.50 ~ And you know what else Roy and I said when you left? 00:19:32.63\00:19:34.60 "Wasn't it great to see Greg and Jill just 00:19:34.80\00:19:37.11 dressed down for the day?" 00:19:37.14\00:19:38.94 And us coming in just in relaxed clothes and saying, 00:19:39.04\00:19:42.61 "You know, we can work around this table just pretty relaxed 00:19:42.71\00:19:45.18 today and feel good about it." 00:19:45.21\00:19:46.58 And it all went just as well as if we had all been dressed up. 00:19:46.75\00:19:50.05 In a suit and tie. 00:19:50.92\00:19:52.25 So thinking about stewardship, you know, I think 00:19:53.42\00:19:55.49 the foundational principle of God's kingdom 00:19:55.52\00:19:58.13 is self-sacrificing love. 00:19:58.16\00:20:00.56 You know, you think about Jesus, from the cradle to the cross 00:20:00.60\00:20:03.93 He lived to bless others. 00:20:03.97\00:20:06.17 But yet Satan, when sin originated in heaven, 00:20:06.63\00:20:10.17 what did it originate with? 00:20:10.21\00:20:11.67 It began with self-seeking, with selfishness. 00:20:11.71\00:20:16.71 It began with covetousness, and greed, and pride, 00:20:16.75\00:20:20.58 and all of those things. 00:20:20.62\00:20:21.95 So I think the principle of benevolence, 00:20:22.02\00:20:24.75 the principle of giving to others, 00:20:24.85\00:20:28.36 it's foundational to the principle of God's kingdom. 00:20:28.39\00:20:31.19 You think about stewardship, it's really the responsible 00:20:31.36\00:20:35.10 management of something entrusted to our care. 00:20:35.13\00:20:38.30 And I always think there's five "T's" to stewardship. 00:20:38.47\00:20:41.40 We're talking today about money. 00:20:41.44\00:20:44.51 So that would be the "T" of treasure. 00:20:44.54\00:20:47.08 But the five "T's" of stewardship would be: 00:20:47.11\00:20:48.88 time, talents, treasure, testimony, and temple. 00:20:48.91\00:20:52.25 So God calls us to be a steward of our time. 00:20:52.35\00:20:55.68 You know, we're each given 24 hours. 00:20:55.85\00:20:58.02 And what do I do with that time? 00:20:58.05\00:20:59.72 How do I use that time? 00:20:59.75\00:21:01.46 Do I use it for pleasure? Do I use it for my own self? 00:21:01.49\00:21:04.89 Or am I going to use it to help and bless other people, 00:21:04.99\00:21:08.20 to minister to others? 00:21:08.36\00:21:09.83 Think about treasure. 00:21:09.86\00:21:11.20 What am I going to do with the money 00:21:11.23\00:21:13.10 that God has entrusted to me? 00:21:13.13\00:21:15.17 Because we can think, "Oh, this is my own money." 00:21:15.37\00:21:17.41 But it's not. 00:21:17.44\00:21:18.77 Everything we have, everything we possess, 00:21:18.81\00:21:21.11 is a gift from God and He has entrusted it to us. 00:21:21.14\00:21:24.75 And He wants us to be responsible 00:21:24.85\00:21:26.85 in how we take care of it. 00:21:26.95\00:21:28.52 And then I think about temple. 00:21:28.95\00:21:30.69 We're stewards of the body temple. 00:21:31.25\00:21:33.02 You think about 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 00:21:33.05\00:21:36.52 the Holy Spirit wants to dwell in us. 00:21:36.56\00:21:39.36 And how we treat the body temple, 00:21:39.39\00:21:41.50 we're to be stewards of that as well. 00:21:41.53\00:21:43.13 Yeah, I think of Psalm 24. 00:21:43.73\00:21:45.47 Psalm 24, and I have it here in my Bible. 00:21:45.57\00:21:47.94 Verse 1 says, "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness 00:21:47.97\00:21:52.71 thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." 00:21:53.41\00:21:55.91 So that's everything. 00:21:55.94\00:21:57.28 You know, growing up my parents taught my sister and myself 00:21:57.31\00:22:01.05 about the tithing aspect, you know, the principle. 00:22:01.08\00:22:03.42 You give 10% back to God, and then you have 00:22:03.52\00:22:05.19 your offerings as well. 00:22:05.22\00:22:06.55 So that's 20%. 00:22:06.59\00:22:07.92 And so what they did, because I couldn't read... 00:22:07.96\00:22:09.66 This was when I was just a small little boy. 00:22:09.69\00:22:11.69 They had these small little, I don't know, 00:22:11.86\00:22:13.60 the wide mouth quart... 00:22:13.63\00:22:15.26 No I don't even think they were quart. 00:22:15.30\00:22:16.63 Maybe pint mason jars with a little lid 00:22:16.67\00:22:18.77 and a little screw on lid. 00:22:19.17\00:22:20.57 And they put little stickers on it. 00:22:20.60\00:22:22.07 So there was a sticker of a church that was on the lid. 00:22:22.10\00:22:24.57 Then there was a sticker of, like, clothes 00:22:24.61\00:22:26.27 so I could save money for my own clothing. 00:22:26.31\00:22:27.91 I think there was, I forget, the sticker for, like, savings. 00:22:27.94\00:22:30.31 So my parents were very strong on, 00:22:30.71\00:22:33.55 "Okay, now this is God's portion. 00:22:33.58\00:22:35.28 And if you want some new clothes you can put some money," 00:22:35.55\00:22:38.45 you know, we'd get some allowance, 00:22:38.49\00:22:39.82 "you can put so much in for clothing, 00:22:39.85\00:22:41.72 so much in for savings." 00:22:41.76\00:22:43.12 Because you know, we think about the 20% is God's, 00:22:43.36\00:22:45.53 but do you know, all of it is God's. 00:22:45.56\00:22:47.36 The rest of the 80%, that's also His. 00:22:47.40\00:22:50.47 And I think that goes along with being a good steward, 00:22:51.03\00:22:52.77 what God has given to us. 00:22:52.80\00:22:54.20 You mentioned about the five "T's", was it? 00:22:54.24\00:22:56.10 Five "T's". What were they again? 00:22:56.14\00:22:57.81 Time, talents, treasure, testimony, and temple. 00:22:58.24\00:23:00.78 Yeah, so that's really everything. 00:23:00.81\00:23:02.61 And God wants us to be stewards of 00:23:02.64\00:23:04.01 everything, including our time. 00:23:04.05\00:23:05.38 That can be difficult sometimes. 00:23:05.41\00:23:06.75 Even our talents. But everything. 00:23:06.78\00:23:08.92 But all of our money. 00:23:08.95\00:23:10.29 Yes, the 20%, 10% tithe. 00:23:10.32\00:23:12.29 Jill and I feel 10% for offering. 00:23:12.59\00:23:14.39 But also the rest of the 80%, 00:23:14.42\00:23:15.99 what does God want us to do with that? 00:23:16.09\00:23:17.69 That's being a good steward of it as well. 00:23:17.79\00:23:19.33 And I wrote this down, Mollie, here. 00:23:19.36\00:23:21.56 Let's see here. 00:23:21.60\00:23:22.93 Materialism. 00:23:22.96\00:23:24.30 It's not about what one has, 00:23:24.33\00:23:26.40 rather it's about a person's attitude 00:23:27.17\00:23:30.07 toward what he has. 00:23:30.51\00:23:32.51 So there's nothing wrong with having means, 00:23:32.61\00:23:34.81 and lots of it, or whatever God has given you. 00:23:34.84\00:23:37.05 But it's our attitude toward it. 00:23:37.25\00:23:38.81 Is it everything to me, or am I... 00:23:38.85\00:23:41.58 What am I looking to do with that money? 00:23:41.62\00:23:43.62 Help others, bless God's work. 00:23:43.85\00:23:45.75 I think that's the key, is our attitude, Mollie, 00:23:45.79\00:23:47.69 toward what we have. 00:23:47.72\00:23:49.06 ~ I think of Matthew 6. 00:23:49.42\00:23:50.76 Hmm, that's good. That's a good verse, yes. 00:23:50.79\00:23:52.49 Matthew 6, this is part of the sermon on the mount, 00:23:52.53\00:23:55.20 verses 19-21. 00:23:55.23\00:23:57.57 It says, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, 00:23:57.87\00:24:00.80 where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in 00:24:00.90\00:24:03.77 and steal; but lay up for yourselves 00:24:03.81\00:24:05.67 treasures in heaven..." 00:24:05.71\00:24:07.04 That's what you're doing when you invest 00:24:07.08\00:24:09.24 in the ministry of 3ABN. 00:24:09.28\00:24:11.38 It's laying up for yourselves treasures in heaven. 00:24:11.58\00:24:15.25 Because what happens when we store them in heaven? 00:24:15.45\00:24:17.85 "...neither moth nor rust destroys and thieves do not 00:24:17.89\00:24:20.59 break in and steal. 00:24:20.62\00:24:21.96 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." 00:24:21.99\00:24:25.86 And you know, many times I use to think of 00:24:25.96\00:24:28.06 this verse, this section of the sermon on the mount, 00:24:28.10\00:24:30.77 and I would say, "Okay, I'm supposed to lay up 00:24:31.43\00:24:33.50 treasure in heaven." 00:24:33.54\00:24:34.87 But why do I do that? 00:24:34.90\00:24:36.24 When I lay up treasure in heaven, it means my heart 00:24:36.27\00:24:39.87 goes more that way. 00:24:39.91\00:24:41.24 My heart turns toward wanting to sacrifice, 00:24:41.38\00:24:45.41 wanting to see souls brought to the kingdom of heaven. 00:24:45.45\00:24:48.25 Okay, so we're seeing that we must be good stewards 00:24:49.32\00:24:53.79 of the blessings that God gives us. 00:24:53.82\00:24:56.06 And in being a good steward, that's also making preparation 00:24:56.09\00:25:01.16 for ourselves, again. 00:25:01.43\00:25:05.50 Making, preparing while we're in our young productive years, 00:25:05.70\00:25:10.87 earning years, for those years. 00:25:11.31\00:25:13.38 Because you know, God willing, we'll all live past those years 00:25:13.41\00:25:18.25 when we have to come to where... 00:25:18.28\00:25:20.12 You know what? I'm retiring. 00:25:20.15\00:25:22.48 And my retirement date is just right up on me. 00:25:22.68\00:25:27.06 So I never thought I would ever not be working 40 hours a week, 00:25:27.09\00:25:33.93 but lo and behold, Jill Morikone is the General Manager 00:25:33.96\00:25:38.47 of 3ABN, and doing an incredible job. 00:25:38.50\00:25:41.70 So God made preparation here at 3ABN for me to have 00:25:41.74\00:25:47.44 some years away from the 40 hour. 00:25:47.48\00:25:51.61 Not away from God, and not away from serving God 00:25:51.65\00:25:54.65 in doing for the kingdom of God, 00:25:54.68\00:25:56.62 but away from the 40 hour a week job that I've had 00:25:56.85\00:26:01.12 since I was 18 years old. 00:26:01.16\00:26:02.76 I worked 50 years. 00:26:02.86\00:26:04.59 Yes, I get a jubilee. 50 years. 00:26:04.63\00:26:09.00 But you know, so we're looking at being good stewards 00:26:09.03\00:26:14.10 and making preparation. 00:26:14.14\00:26:15.77 And in doing that, we have these instruments 00:26:15.87\00:26:20.48 in our Planned Giving and Trust Services department. 00:26:20.68\00:26:23.95 And what we want Earlenne to do now 00:26:24.15\00:26:27.02 is just educate us. 00:26:27.05\00:26:28.62 Tell us what would be best. 00:26:28.65\00:26:30.55 What was best for you and Greg at this time? 00:26:30.59\00:26:34.32 For us, the cash trust. 00:26:34.36\00:26:36.12 Because you get a much higher interest. 00:26:36.16\00:26:38.19 I think, Earlenne, is it four to five percent we get? 00:26:38.23\00:26:41.46 4.2 to 5.0 annual percentage rate. 00:26:41.50\00:26:44.60 That's a fluctuating... 00:26:44.63\00:26:46.00 ~ Yeah, and you said it's not guaranteed, 00:26:46.03\00:26:47.37 but that's what it kind of averages out. 00:26:47.40\00:26:48.74 ~ It's not guaranteed, but for the going on our ninth year 00:26:48.77\00:26:51.47 it has been right there. 00:26:51.67\00:26:53.44 And last year was the highest one we've had. 00:26:53.74\00:26:56.28 And so 4.2 to 5.0 annual percentage rate is pretty good. 00:26:56.68\00:27:02.48 That's really very good. 00:27:02.52\00:27:03.85 ~ Yeah, considering if you put your money in the bank 00:27:03.89\00:27:05.79 in a savings account or a checking account 00:27:05.82\00:27:07.62 you're basically getting nothing, basically. 00:27:07.66\00:27:09.39 ~ And on top of that, Greg, if you put it in there 00:27:09.42\00:27:12.93 they might say, "Yeah, we can give you a better interest rate, 00:27:12.96\00:27:17.83 but we're going to hang onto it for five years or ten years." 00:27:18.23\00:27:20.57 You wouldn't have access to it. 00:27:20.87\00:27:22.20 Yours is liquid right now. 00:27:22.54\00:27:24.07 Should you have a major situation happen that you 00:27:24.11\00:27:26.98 needed that money back, a life changing situation, 00:27:27.01\00:27:30.78 we will gladly refund your money. 00:27:30.98\00:27:32.98 3ABN has never held off giving back money 00:27:33.25\00:27:36.15 to anybody who needs it. 00:27:36.18\00:27:37.89 And we don't decide if you need it. 00:27:37.92\00:27:39.95 You decide if you need it. 00:27:39.99\00:27:41.99 That's a very important point. 00:27:42.02\00:27:43.79 So is that what you call a revocable cash trust? 00:27:43.83\00:27:46.09 It is a revocable cash trust. 00:27:46.13\00:27:48.96 ~ I want to say this. 00:27:49.00\00:27:50.33 That's what Hal and I have is a revocable cash trust. 00:27:50.37\00:27:52.93 And we had a family member that was in a situation 00:27:53.34\00:27:56.50 where just like that they needed some money. 00:27:56.54\00:27:59.24 And so all I did was call over to Trust Services 00:27:59.57\00:28:03.01 and say, "Help, I need this." 00:28:03.04\00:28:04.95 And it was on my desk the next morning. 00:28:04.98\00:28:07.22 So that's what we mean when we say it's our money, 00:28:07.25\00:28:11.42 it's liquid now, and we have free access to it at any time. 00:28:11.45\00:28:15.89 Now explain about a cash trust and how you can 00:28:16.32\00:28:21.16 become a client of 3ABN in the cash trust department. 00:28:21.93\00:28:27.24 Okay, I'll be happy to talk about that. 00:28:27.27\00:28:29.70 If you have $10,000 and you're single, 00:28:29.94\00:28:33.07 or if you have $20,000 and you're married, 00:28:33.11\00:28:36.54 then that money can be invested in 3ABN 00:28:36.75\00:28:40.55 and you too will earn that 4.2 to 5.0. 00:28:40.58\00:28:43.89 We send out regular monthly statements 00:28:44.09\00:28:46.59 so you know exactly what's happening. 00:28:46.62\00:28:48.59 Some people choose to accrue the interest 00:28:48.79\00:28:52.19 back into their account. 00:28:52.39\00:28:54.03 Some people choose to take half of the money 00:28:54.20\00:28:57.27 but give half of the interest money every month 00:28:57.30\00:29:00.57 as a gift to 3ABN. 00:29:00.60\00:29:02.37 We have grandparents who are supporting their kids 00:29:03.44\00:29:06.44 in academies or grade schools. 00:29:06.47\00:29:08.54 They want them to have a good Christian education. 00:29:08.74\00:29:11.98 And they knew the parents couldn't do it on their own 00:29:12.01\00:29:14.32 so they invested money, and the interest they're making 00:29:14.35\00:29:18.05 we're sending that money to an academy 00:29:18.09\00:29:20.46 or a grade school where it's going towards their tuition. 00:29:20.49\00:29:24.16 ~ Yeah, that's great. 00:29:24.66\00:29:25.99 And this is what they did. 00:29:26.03\00:29:27.40 They invested their principle and they live off the interest. 00:29:27.50\00:29:32.00 And you can ask both of my children, 00:29:32.10\00:29:34.34 if I've given them any financial counsel it was, 00:29:34.37\00:29:37.71 "Invest your principle, live off the interest." 00:29:37.74\00:29:40.94 Don't ever eat your seed. 00:29:40.98\00:29:45.48 Plant your seed and then live off the crop that comes from it. 00:29:45.51\00:29:49.92 ~ That's right. That's exactly right. 00:29:49.95\00:29:52.42 So that's a very, very good document. 00:29:52.65\00:29:54.92 And we start your interest being earned 00:29:56.12\00:29:59.86 as quick as we receive your check. 00:29:59.89\00:30:02.16 And the form that we send you in the mail 00:30:02.70\00:30:05.40 that comes in your packet will be the application 00:30:05.43\00:30:08.10 that you're going to fill out. 00:30:08.14\00:30:09.47 When you fill that application out, you're going to send it 00:30:09.57\00:30:12.27 into us and we will give it to the attorney. 00:30:12.31\00:30:15.31 So that's actually the attorney's worksheet 00:30:15.34\00:30:18.08 so that we know exactly what you want. 00:30:18.31\00:30:20.82 Right. 00:30:20.85\00:30:22.18 And so you will be getting a fully printed up 00:30:22.22\00:30:24.52 document very soon. 00:30:24.62\00:30:26.49 And that document will then be signed after you review it. 00:30:26.69\00:30:32.83 But what you had selected is going to be in there. 00:30:33.03\00:30:36.40 And of course, you want to check and make sure that 00:30:36.80\00:30:39.13 your birth date was right, and you know, a few other details. 00:30:39.23\00:30:42.37 And I'd like to bring up something here too. 00:30:43.61\00:30:45.51 When we ask you to fill out an application, 00:30:46.44\00:30:49.11 that application is a snoopy application. 00:30:49.31\00:30:53.52 Very snoopy. 00:30:54.35\00:30:55.68 We have to know some things in order to be able to help you 00:30:55.72\00:30:58.75 and legally carry forward the document that 00:30:58.85\00:31:02.26 you are preparing with us. 00:31:02.29\00:31:03.96 Among those things will be your grandparents names, 00:31:04.43\00:31:08.80 your mother's maiden name. 00:31:09.93\00:31:11.60 Some people haven't thought about that one for a long time. 00:31:12.03\00:31:14.10 They go, "Oh, let me think." 00:31:14.14\00:31:15.97 Well you can be thinking about that in advance. 00:31:16.07\00:31:18.01 When you order your packet, you'll be ready to roll. 00:31:18.24\00:31:20.64 Another thing we ask for is your social security number. 00:31:20.88\00:31:24.78 We are snoopy. 00:31:25.01\00:31:26.35 The reason we ask for that is not because 00:31:26.38\00:31:29.85 we're identifying you. 00:31:29.88\00:31:31.45 It is because you will earn interest. 00:31:31.69\00:31:33.96 And we have to report that interest. 00:31:33.99\00:31:36.52 So that will be attached to your social security number. 00:31:36.89\00:31:41.30 And of course, you will get your papers at the end of every year 00:31:41.50\00:31:44.23 to turn in for your tax reports. 00:31:44.27\00:31:46.57 ~ And everything is totally confidential. 00:31:46.94\00:31:48.90 Totally confidential. Totally. 00:31:48.94\00:31:51.61 And we have our files here, we have concrete vaults. 00:31:51.84\00:31:55.38 They stay in there. 00:31:55.41\00:31:57.15 They're well protected. 00:31:57.18\00:31:58.51 But when we first prepare the documents, 00:31:58.61\00:32:00.82 we also make two originals. 00:32:00.98\00:32:04.05 One for you and one for here at the office. 00:32:04.19\00:32:07.79 So there are two originals. 00:32:07.99\00:32:10.23 And that's a safety thing. 00:32:10.26\00:32:12.59 Once you prepare a document with us, you are also going to 00:32:13.16\00:32:15.83 receive in the mail a wallet card. 00:32:15.86\00:32:19.00 Just a little wallet card. 00:32:19.43\00:32:20.94 About the size of your driver's license. 00:32:20.97\00:32:22.94 And on there will be a phone number where to call 00:32:23.04\00:32:26.74 should anything happen to you. 00:32:26.78\00:32:28.81 If you were in a car accident, 00:32:29.08\00:32:30.75 if you had an instant heart attack, 00:32:30.78\00:32:32.41 if you got stung by a bee and passed out 00:32:32.45\00:32:34.58 and were dead minutes later. 00:32:34.62\00:32:36.38 How is somebody going to identify who you are 00:32:36.69\00:32:39.19 other than just your driver's license? 00:32:39.39\00:32:42.36 Do you have anything else that's of total value? 00:32:42.56\00:32:45.69 And for us, it's of total value to God. 00:32:45.73\00:32:48.50 You may not have a spouse that's still living. 00:32:48.80\00:32:51.10 It might be the time that you are going to turn that money 00:32:51.37\00:32:54.34 over to God's work. 00:32:54.37\00:32:55.70 What is, I know we're talking about a revocable cash trust, 00:32:58.24\00:33:03.38 but aren't there irrevocable documents? 00:33:03.41\00:33:05.81 Yes, there are irrevocable documents. 00:33:06.11\00:33:08.92 This is called an annuity. 00:33:09.28\00:33:11.05 And many people in their older years... 00:33:11.09\00:33:14.02 Not that old. 65 is not that old. 00:33:14.22\00:33:17.06 But at 65 you might be able to surpass that 4.2 to 5.0. 00:33:17.26\00:33:22.90 And we might suggest, why don't you put your first 00:33:23.20\00:33:25.77 $5,000 or $10,000 or $20,000 out of your savings and 00:33:25.87\00:33:30.04 start an annuity. 00:33:30.07\00:33:31.57 That is instantly going to lock you into 00:33:31.81\00:33:34.08 a higher rate of interest. 00:33:34.11\00:33:36.01 Because if the economy goes this direction, 00:33:36.71\00:33:40.18 you don't change. 00:33:40.52\00:33:41.85 It stays right there. It's guaranteed. 00:33:41.88\00:33:44.75 So if you're 65 and above, that is a very important document 00:33:44.79\00:33:48.32 to switch either, you know, some of your funds over to. 00:33:48.42\00:33:51.53 Some people choose half their funds. 00:33:51.56\00:33:53.46 We never recommend that you put in everything you own. 00:33:53.50\00:33:57.23 That is not a good plan. 00:33:57.80\00:33:59.27 We're here to make sure you, your family, 00:33:59.30\00:34:01.67 your church, you know, those types of things 00:34:01.70\00:34:04.01 are all taken care of. 00:34:04.04\00:34:05.37 It's the other part of the money that you can 00:34:05.41\00:34:07.34 go ahead and put in. 00:34:07.38\00:34:08.71 You will earn a higher rate of interest. 00:34:08.74\00:34:10.65 Now each time you buy a new annuity, you buy them, 00:34:10.68\00:34:14.45 you buy them in increments of $5,000, $10,000, $20,000. 00:34:14.62\00:34:19.95 And that's what that one is going to be valued at 00:34:19.99\00:34:22.22 for the whole life of it. 00:34:22.26\00:34:23.59 Now if you want to put more money into another annuity... 00:34:24.49\00:34:27.73 And most people do this like right at the end of the year 00:34:28.43\00:34:31.13 because they're looking for another tax break. 00:34:31.17\00:34:32.83 Which is an important point to. 00:34:33.20\00:34:34.80 You can do one and put in another $10,000. 00:34:35.74\00:34:39.21 ~ So does it accrue as in, say you had a $5,000, 00:34:39.24\00:34:42.21 and then now you add another $5,000. 00:34:42.24\00:34:43.58 - Is it a $10,000? - Good question, Jill. 00:34:43.61\00:34:45.45 No, it's doesn't accrue. 00:34:45.78\00:34:47.22 You buy a new one each time. 00:34:47.25\00:34:49.58 Now, maybe you bought the first one when you were 65. 00:34:49.68\00:34:53.12 Maybe you didn't think of it again until you were 67. 00:34:53.32\00:34:55.86 Guess what? You're older. 00:34:56.36\00:34:58.26 Your interest rate is more. 00:34:58.36\00:35:00.33 So if you have $10,000... 00:35:00.36\00:35:02.06 And we've had people call us and say, 00:35:02.10\00:35:03.43 "I have eleven of these with you now, 00:35:03.63\00:35:06.03 and the interest is different on each one of them 00:35:06.40\00:35:08.60 for the same dollar amount." 00:35:08.64\00:35:10.17 That's because you were getting older. 00:35:10.27\00:35:13.04 Now we have the best senior citizen plan. 00:35:13.48\00:35:15.51 - You know that, don't you? - I know that. 00:35:15.54\00:35:17.01 You know that. 00:35:17.05\00:35:18.38 And just recently it got even better. 00:35:18.41\00:35:21.42 Our older clients, you can now earn, 00:35:22.48\00:35:26.59 if you're in your 90's, up to 9.3. 00:35:26.62\00:35:30.43 - 9.3 ~ That's a lot. 00:35:31.03\00:35:33.19 Yes, and we have a number of clients 00:35:33.23\00:35:36.67 who have called us, and that's exactly the bracket they're in. 00:35:36.70\00:35:40.07 ~ It will never go down. - It will never go down. 00:35:40.10\00:35:42.50 It will never go down. 00:35:42.54\00:35:44.14 Now some people will recall that in 2008 we had a market crash. 00:35:44.51\00:35:49.31 And what happened there was we did have some people 00:35:49.88\00:35:52.28 that were making 12%. 00:35:52.31\00:35:54.62 They did not go down. 00:35:55.62\00:35:57.49 We've got one lady right now that's 104 years old; 00:35:57.59\00:36:01.02 she has the 12%. 00:36:01.06\00:36:02.92 Now she did it back here, and when it dropped 00:36:03.73\00:36:07.23 it didn't drop off for her. 00:36:07.33\00:36:09.00 Now I'm going to go back to why we suggested to you 00:36:09.33\00:36:11.93 that you do the cash trust for 4.2 to 5.0. 00:36:11.97\00:36:15.10 And that's because we don't want to lock you in yet. 00:36:15.40\00:36:18.67 Because you could go higher. 00:36:18.81\00:36:20.38 But don't wait too long to go a little higher. 00:36:20.64\00:36:23.41 Keep some of that money in there so that you're 00:36:23.61\00:36:26.41 getting that good interest, because then your interest 00:36:26.45\00:36:28.92 payment will be larger. 00:36:28.95\00:36:30.42 So I'm thinking about also the benefit, though, 00:36:31.69\00:36:33.49 this is neat too, as far as for 3ABN. 00:36:33.52\00:36:35.59 Because when we do the cash trust it's a minimum of 25%. 00:36:35.62\00:36:38.43 Like if Jill and I were to be killed in an automobile accident 00:36:38.46\00:36:40.50 or some other disaster, 25% of that automatically goes to 3ABN. 00:36:40.53\00:36:45.27 So that's part of the document. 00:36:45.30\00:36:46.63 And I think that's again talking about, Mollie, 00:36:46.67\00:36:48.14 being a good steward. 00:36:48.17\00:36:49.50 You know, the way Jill and I did it, we divided it up 00:36:49.54\00:36:51.14 amongst some other people, but then part of it's coming to 3ABN 00:36:51.17\00:36:54.34 if we were to pass away. 00:36:54.38\00:36:55.71 And that's where it's great because then it blesses 3ABN 00:36:55.74\00:36:57.78 even after we're gone. 00:36:57.98\00:36:59.31 ~ And I'd like to add to that, Greg. 00:36:59.35\00:37:01.78 Greg brought up the fact that it's 25%. 00:37:02.18\00:37:04.55 It can be 25%, it can be 100%. 00:37:04.59\00:37:07.72 We have got some elderly people who have no family left, 00:37:07.99\00:37:11.29 and they had no children. 00:37:11.39\00:37:12.83 They will put on that line every time 100% to 3ABN. 00:37:13.23\00:37:16.80 So you are welcome to customize your document 00:37:17.13\00:37:20.27 exactly the way you want it, 00:37:20.30\00:37:22.10 and we will facilitate your wishes. 00:37:22.14\00:37:24.21 Now also on that same page, which is about page 4 or 5 00:37:24.57\00:37:29.48 in the application, there is a spot where you 00:37:29.51\00:37:32.81 will need to put an alternate, except 3ABN. 00:37:32.85\00:37:37.09 So maybe you listed all of your children. 00:37:37.95\00:37:41.42 And all of your children need to have an alternate. 00:37:41.96\00:37:44.56 Either the money will then, 75% of it maybe, be divided 00:37:44.86\00:37:48.76 equally among three more children, 00:37:48.80\00:37:51.03 So they each get 25, plus, you know, 3ABN gets 25. 00:37:51.07\00:37:55.34 But what if they're not living? 00:37:55.37\00:37:57.04 What if something happens to one of them? 00:37:57.07\00:37:59.17 Then it needs to go to somebody else. 00:37:59.67\00:38:01.68 Either the other siblings or it can also go to 3ABN. 00:38:01.84\00:38:06.38 The other thing you can do is we support all ministries. 00:38:06.85\00:38:10.05 So if you wanted to put another ministry name in there, 00:38:10.29\00:38:14.12 we will honor your wishes for that. 00:38:14.22\00:38:15.99 ~ I didn't know that. - Yes, we do. 00:38:16.02\00:38:18.06 And it is a good plan. 00:38:18.46\00:38:20.96 Because I'll tell you, all the other ministries 00:38:21.00\00:38:23.77 are writing documents with our name in it too. 00:38:23.80\00:38:26.33 So it's share and share alike in the church 00:38:26.43\00:38:28.54 with the money of God. 00:38:28.57\00:38:30.01 It is shared. 00:38:30.04\00:38:31.37 And so it's very important that you list for us 00:38:31.41\00:38:33.94 exactly what you want to do. 00:38:33.98\00:38:35.91 If you don't know some ministry names, 00:38:35.94\00:38:38.08 but you'd like to support some ministries, 00:38:38.11\00:38:40.28 we do have suggestions for you. 00:38:40.32\00:38:42.72 And some of the people that you have seen featured 00:38:43.02\00:38:45.65 right here on 3ABN, mission projects and things like that, 00:38:45.69\00:38:50.53 we've got people that list those in their documents. 00:38:50.56\00:38:53.13 Now someone says, "Well they're not a real big ministry, 00:38:53.33\00:38:56.30 they're small, but they certainly need my funds." 00:38:56.33\00:38:58.83 Well maybe God chose ten years down the road 00:38:59.33\00:39:02.00 that ministry is no longer here, or it took on a new name. 00:39:02.04\00:39:05.51 That has happened too. 00:39:05.54\00:39:06.88 You can still list them. 00:39:07.51\00:39:09.11 Because that money can then go to an alternate. 00:39:09.41\00:39:12.45 So don't be afraid to give it to a small ministry also. 00:39:13.11\00:39:16.12 All ministries that are doing the Lord's work 00:39:16.42\00:39:18.82 need to have funds. 00:39:18.85\00:39:20.22 ~ That's right. ~ Amen. 00:39:20.26\00:39:21.59 So that kind of covers the annuity, 00:39:21.62\00:39:24.99 and then of course the cash trust, 00:39:25.09\00:39:26.43 and how the two can relate. 00:39:26.46\00:39:27.80 Cash trust is revocable, the annuities are irrevocable. 00:39:28.06\00:39:32.47 So I could give you a quick rundown too, if you would like. 00:39:33.20\00:39:36.81 An irrevocable document always has a fixed interest rate. 00:39:37.44\00:39:41.84 This fixed interest rate: payments for life. 00:39:42.38\00:39:45.71 You don't add to it, but you can always buy a new one. 00:39:45.88\00:39:48.45 That's a great part. 00:39:48.48\00:39:49.82 And then you may not withdraw funds. 00:39:49.85\00:39:52.52 It has already been permanently invested. 00:39:52.95\00:39:55.89 Now you say, "When I pass away, if these payments are 00:39:55.99\00:39:58.83 coming to me, what happens to the rest of the money 00:39:58.86\00:40:01.10 when I pass away? 00:40:01.13\00:40:02.53 I'm gone now." 00:40:03.23\00:40:04.57 What remains in that account comes to 3ABN. 00:40:05.10\00:40:09.17 And that is your charitable intent. 00:40:09.20\00:40:11.31 So our annuities are charitable intent documents. 00:40:11.71\00:40:15.04 Just like the others. 00:40:15.08\00:40:16.61 But 100% of what's left in there. 00:40:16.71\00:40:19.78 Okay, so someone says, "Wait a minute. 00:40:19.81\00:40:21.22 I put $100,000 in there. 00:40:21.25\00:40:23.42 3ABN is going to get all of that and I can't distribute it?" 00:40:23.45\00:40:26.35 It's all going to go to 3ABN. 00:40:26.39\00:40:28.32 But your $100,000 is no longer in there. 00:40:28.42\00:40:32.53 We've been paying you interest out of that, 00:40:32.93\00:40:35.26 along with the interest that you've earned, 00:40:35.30\00:40:37.33 for your life. 00:40:37.37\00:40:38.70 But what remains in there is what will come to 3ABN. 00:40:38.83\00:40:43.17 And we have had some wonderful, wonderful gifts 00:40:43.20\00:40:48.01 from the annuities. 00:40:48.04\00:40:49.38 And then it's a tax benefit. 00:40:50.25\00:40:52.41 It's very important that we have tax benefits 00:40:52.45\00:40:54.82 when we work with finances. 00:40:54.85\00:40:56.28 And an annuity is one of those. 00:40:56.32\00:40:59.15 Now a cash trust is revocable. 00:40:59.42\00:41:02.86 The other one is irrevocable, cash trust is revocable. 00:41:03.06\00:41:06.36 It will have a variable interest rate. 00:41:07.93\00:41:09.93 Now if you wanted to figure out what your interest 00:41:09.96\00:41:11.70 was going to be approximately for the year, 00:41:11.73\00:41:14.20 you can take and add up all 12 months of whatever 00:41:14.40\00:41:17.21 interest is fluctuating, add all of those up, divide it by 12. 00:41:17.24\00:41:22.14 Easy formula. 00:41:22.34\00:41:23.75 There's your interest rate. 00:41:23.85\00:41:25.58 Okay, we're done with the program and we don't remember 00:41:25.88\00:41:28.95 what Earlenne said, that's okay. 00:41:28.98\00:41:30.82 I have a telephone, give me a call, 00:41:30.85\00:41:33.05 and I will go over all the details with you. 00:41:33.09\00:41:35.92 ~ And there's a packet you can send them too. 00:41:36.26\00:41:38.26 Yes, we send a package, and there's some 00:41:38.29\00:41:40.13 surprise gifts in there too. 00:41:40.16\00:41:41.80 Things from 3ABN that I think people always enjoy getting. 00:41:43.06\00:41:46.23 You also get copies of programs similar to this one 00:41:46.50\00:41:49.24 that we have done. 00:41:49.27\00:41:50.61 And those programs are an educational benefit to you. 00:41:50.64\00:41:54.38 Sit down and watch them, absorb them, 00:41:54.48\00:41:57.11 and then first contact God. 00:41:57.15\00:42:00.25 Say, "God, what would you want me to do?" 00:42:01.08\00:42:03.49 When Hal and I were first looking at this, 00:42:03.69\00:42:06.96 the document that worked best for us was the cash trust. 00:42:06.99\00:42:10.76 That's what you have invested in is the cash trust. 00:42:10.79\00:42:13.90 But I know y'all are very young and you have other aspects 00:42:14.10\00:42:17.37 that you want to look at. 00:42:17.40\00:42:18.73 And I think, Greg, property trust was something 00:42:18.77\00:42:20.87 that was interesting to you. 00:42:20.90\00:42:22.24 That's something Jill and I are looking at is a property trust. 00:42:22.27\00:42:24.04 And I know, Earlenne, you can expound upon that a little bit. 00:42:24.07\00:42:26.34 But that you can use in place of a will, actually. 00:42:26.37\00:42:29.08 Which is new information that we hadn't actually considered. 00:42:29.11\00:42:31.58 And that would be basically everything that you own. 00:42:31.61\00:42:34.15 - Is that correct? ~ Uh-huh. 00:42:34.18\00:42:35.52 ~ And for the older generation this is a very common question. 00:42:35.55\00:42:38.82 So it's very good that you brought it up, Greg. 00:42:38.85\00:42:41.36 The older generation was kind of tuned into, 00:42:42.29\00:42:44.43 "Oh, do you have a will yet?" 00:42:44.63\00:42:45.96 "Oh, you're not doing well. Have you written a will yet?" 00:42:45.99\00:42:48.10 Believe it or not, they talk like this. 00:42:48.13\00:42:49.76 That's, you know, something they are worried about. 00:42:49.80\00:42:52.77 So they want to write a will. 00:42:52.80\00:42:54.17 We're not going to encourage you to do a will unless 00:42:54.50\00:42:56.71 you've got maybe a really small estate. 00:42:56.74\00:42:59.87 But if there's a house, we're still going to recommend 00:43:00.34\00:43:02.88 you put it into a trust. 00:43:02.91\00:43:04.28 A will is public knowledge. 00:43:04.61\00:43:07.08 And I know, Greg, that took you by surprise 00:43:07.12\00:43:09.12 that it's public knowledge. 00:43:09.15\00:43:10.59 Anybody can go to the courthouse and say, 00:43:10.62\00:43:12.09 "So what did mom and dad do with their stuff?" 00:43:12.12\00:43:14.56 Okay, they put it in a will. 00:43:14.79\00:43:16.12 So they go and look it up. 00:43:16.16\00:43:17.49 "Hey, did you know you're getting something and I'm not?" 00:43:17.53\00:43:19.59 Well let's avoid that situation, do a trust. 00:43:19.63\00:43:22.73 And that is not public knowledge to anybody. 00:43:22.76\00:43:25.33 It's between you, God, and the trust department that wrote it. 00:43:25.43\00:43:28.34 ~ And I think a good point too that you and Roy brought up 00:43:28.44\00:43:30.94 is that actually the deed or the title, let's say, to the house 00:43:30.97\00:43:33.64 that Jill and I live in actually is still held by me. 00:43:33.68\00:43:35.81 It doesn't go to 3ABN... 00:43:35.84\00:43:37.75 ~ That's the beauty of the self-administered trust 00:43:37.78\00:43:41.18 which is a property trust; SAT. 00:43:41.22\00:43:43.59 Yes, Greg's got a new word now. 00:43:43.79\00:43:45.45 SAT; call up and ask about a SAT. 00:43:45.49\00:43:47.79 When I think about that, I think of satellite. 00:43:47.82\00:43:49.42 But SAT. Self-administered trust. 00:43:50.63\00:43:52.63 You're very tuned into television. 00:43:52.83\00:43:54.16 That's right, I am. 00:43:54.20\00:43:55.53 The SAT is important. 00:43:55.86\00:43:57.50 Getting your house in there and protecting it 00:43:57.90\00:43:59.97 so that if anything happens to you, 00:44:00.17\00:44:02.97 that's taken care of. 00:44:03.74\00:44:05.71 It's not just going to be lying over there and the government 00:44:05.74\00:44:08.84 get their hands on it or somebody that you didn't want. 00:44:08.88\00:44:11.61 It's settled, you've already decided. 00:44:11.71\00:44:13.98 So if Greg and Jill put their house in a SAT, 00:44:14.18\00:44:16.79 and wanted to divide it among 3ABN and family members, 00:44:16.82\00:44:20.86 that would be a beautiful act. 00:44:20.89\00:44:22.52 If you own multiple properties, you can do multiple properties 00:44:22.62\00:44:26.29 in the same trust. 00:44:26.33\00:44:28.33 ~ So the different properties all go into the one trust? 00:44:28.36\00:44:30.90 They all go in there, but they're listed separately. 00:44:31.10\00:44:33.64 Now what we will have is, we will need to get a deed 00:44:33.74\00:44:38.04 for each property. 00:44:38.07\00:44:39.41 So if you have a property but it doesn't have a house on it, 00:44:39.47\00:44:41.71 that's okay, there's still a deed. 00:44:41.74\00:44:43.24 So make sure that we get a deed to put into your trust. 00:44:43.48\00:44:46.85 We will prepare that deed where it will now read 00:44:47.18\00:44:50.25 that it is going into your trust. 00:44:50.29\00:44:53.59 Not to 3ABN. 00:44:53.62\00:44:55.12 The SAT is a self-administered trust, 00:44:55.16\00:44:59.59 which is a very important point. 00:44:59.63\00:45:01.36 Because we don't want anybody to think they've given up 00:45:01.40\00:45:03.47 their property already to 3ABN. 00:45:03.50\00:45:06.17 It's important that you give the property to your trust 00:45:06.20\00:45:10.04 to be administered the way you would like it. 00:45:10.07\00:45:12.27 ~ And is it revocable or irrevocable? 00:45:12.31\00:45:14.14 It is totally revocable. 00:45:14.18\00:45:15.74 Okay, now maybe you sell that house, 00:45:15.78\00:45:18.05 and you own two other properties in it, 00:45:18.38\00:45:20.35 but you sell the one house and you move to another one, 00:45:20.38\00:45:23.59 then we'll take the old one out 00:45:23.82\00:45:25.75 and we'll put the new one in for you. 00:45:25.79\00:45:27.56 So that's something that's done very easily. 00:45:27.86\00:45:29.89 And we do prepare those documents 00:45:29.92\00:45:32.09 to make the switch of the deeds at no expense to you the client. 00:45:32.29\00:45:37.03 That is very, very important. 00:45:37.07\00:45:38.87 We do not do the recording, we don't pay the recording fees. 00:45:39.07\00:45:43.34 So that's something that we don't do. 00:45:43.37\00:45:45.74 But other than that, we take pretty good care of you. 00:45:45.84\00:45:48.24 Now if you have a property trust, this is also where 00:45:48.34\00:45:51.01 you're going to put in a few more things. 00:45:51.05\00:45:52.75 Some of the things that you're going to put in would be 00:45:53.05\00:45:55.15 your bank accounts. 00:45:55.18\00:45:56.52 We need to know on your bank accounts 00:45:56.55\00:45:58.69 just the numbers, and that you have gone to the bank 00:45:58.72\00:46:01.66 and done a POD. 00:46:01.69\00:46:04.49 Pay On Death. 00:46:04.53\00:46:06.86 Who's the money going to go to? 00:46:07.43\00:46:09.10 Is it going to come to one of your family members? 00:46:09.40\00:46:12.33 Is it going to come to 3ABN? 00:46:12.37\00:46:14.44 Just don't leave it there because the banks 00:46:14.80\00:46:17.27 are going to hold onto it. 00:46:17.31\00:46:18.71 If I don't have a POD, like we don't have a POD, 00:46:19.17\00:46:22.31 so if you don't have a POD, what happens if we were to pass away? 00:46:22.34\00:46:25.28 Where would the money go? 00:46:25.31\00:46:26.65 Have you heard of unclaimed money that's 00:46:26.95\00:46:28.95 on a government website? 00:46:28.98\00:46:31.35 ~ If nobody comes to claim your money, 00:46:32.82\00:46:35.09 then it goes to the government. 00:46:35.56\00:46:37.39 It goes to the government. 00:46:37.43\00:46:38.76 And you can go on websites... 00:46:38.79\00:46:40.33 And Roy found an aunt of his money in there 00:46:40.36\00:46:43.60 that for years it had been sitting 00:46:43.87\00:46:46.74 that nobody had ever claimed it. 00:46:46.77\00:46:48.47 And he called her up and let her know that she had, 00:46:48.90\00:46:50.81 you know, something in the unclaimed. 00:46:51.11\00:46:53.27 So yes, that is what will happen. 00:46:53.54\00:46:55.64 Pay On Death is vitally important to every document. 00:46:55.68\00:46:59.21 You know, we did a POD and let our daughter know, 00:46:59.25\00:47:02.52 "You're who we've put on this 00:47:02.55\00:47:04.15 in the event something happens to Hal and I." 00:47:04.19\00:47:06.35 She can come and they will empty both our savings 00:47:06.39\00:47:10.89 and our checking account, give it to her. 00:47:10.93\00:47:12.99 And then we trust her, we know that what she'll do then 00:47:13.03\00:47:16.20 is pay our bills, make sure we're buried properly. 00:47:16.30\00:47:19.37 But rather than the money just sitting there, 00:47:19.47\00:47:22.57 it will be used for the things that we need. 00:47:22.60\00:47:27.68 ~ Because it can get held up a long time. 00:47:27.71\00:47:29.04 You know, court proceedings and all that. 00:47:29.14\00:47:30.58 ~ Oh yes, it can be held up a long time, 00:47:30.61\00:47:32.05 and then there's that risk of never getting it. 00:47:32.08\00:47:34.25 Also financial retirement plans. 00:47:34.28\00:47:37.45 If you've got retirement plans somewhere, 00:47:37.69\00:47:39.92 or insurance, definitely go to those 00:47:40.19\00:47:43.63 and do a Pay On Death. 00:47:43.66\00:47:44.99 Otherwise, where are they going to go to? 00:47:45.03\00:47:46.49 And make sure that they are listed to go into your trust. 00:47:46.93\00:47:51.20 We will give you the name of your family trust 00:47:51.23\00:47:53.80 when it's developed. 00:47:53.84\00:47:55.17 And the funds can go into that at any time. 00:47:55.20\00:47:58.14 ~ You know, Earlenne, I'm thinking about the 00:47:58.17\00:47:59.87 number of people, they have been procrastinating 00:47:59.91\00:48:04.48 and they've been meaning to do this for so long. 00:48:04.51\00:48:07.42 I had a little lady come to me at the last camp meeting. 00:48:07.45\00:48:10.99 And she said, "You know, Mollie, I heard one of your programs 00:48:11.02\00:48:14.06 on trust services, and my husband and I said 00:48:14.09\00:48:17.39 we need to do this." 00:48:17.43\00:48:18.86 Now I want you to know, they have been a 00:48:18.89\00:48:20.33 tremendous blessing to 3ABN. 00:48:20.36\00:48:22.66 But they had been meaning to. They'd been procrastinating. 00:48:22.70\00:48:25.43 Finally they go... This is what we hear so often. 00:48:25.47\00:48:30.21 Once we had our documents in place, 00:48:30.44\00:48:33.84 we had all of our properties securely where we know 00:48:33.88\00:48:40.12 that they're going to go where we want them to go. 00:48:40.15\00:48:42.18 And everything so secure in these trusts, 00:48:42.22\00:48:46.69 or whatever document, we were so relieved. 00:48:46.72\00:48:49.79 It's like a weight was lifted off of us 00:48:49.82\00:48:52.56 because now we don't have to concern ourselves. 00:48:52.59\00:48:55.66 We know that everything is going to be taken care of. 00:48:55.70\00:48:59.77 just like we want it to be taken care of. 00:48:59.80\00:49:02.74 I will mention too that we send out each year a form 00:49:02.77\00:49:06.47 where you can update. 00:49:06.51\00:49:07.94 We sent one that said, "Is your trust an antique?" 00:49:07.98\00:49:11.11 Well you don't want your trust to become an antique. 00:49:11.88\00:49:14.48 And we were checking, and we gave them lines to write on. 00:49:14.68\00:49:17.65 You know, did you buy a new car? 00:49:17.85\00:49:19.69 Did you actually sell your house? 00:49:19.79\00:49:21.82 Do you have a new one? 00:49:22.02\00:49:23.46 You know, the things that they want to. 00:49:23.86\00:49:25.49 Have you checked to make sure that all your accounts... 00:49:25.59\00:49:28.33 People start new accounts. 00:49:28.36\00:49:30.00 Are all of your accounts in your trust? 00:49:30.03\00:49:34.14 So we remind you. 00:49:34.37\00:49:35.87 We're here to facilitate, and we do remind you. 00:49:35.90\00:49:38.51 And we're not bugging you, we're only reminding you. 00:49:38.87\00:49:42.64 We want your document to be what you want it to be. 00:49:42.68\00:49:45.15 ~ It's for their own good. 00:49:45.18\00:49:46.51 And Greg, something that I think you mentioned earlier 00:49:46.55\00:49:49.55 was like with the property trust, it doesn't have to 00:49:49.58\00:49:52.02 go through probate. 00:49:52.05\00:49:53.39 That's true. That's a good point. 00:49:53.42\00:49:54.79 Which can be kind of held up sometimes for quite a while. 00:49:54.82\00:49:57.23 And by the way, don't forget your stocks and bonds. 00:49:58.13\00:50:00.66 That's another big one. 00:50:01.30\00:50:03.00 And let us know, you know, what you have on that. 00:50:03.20\00:50:06.23 And also, if you have to take an IRA distribution, 00:50:06.60\00:50:12.17 call us about those IRA distributions. 00:50:12.54\00:50:14.91 You can give a gift of whatever your distribution has to be 00:50:15.08\00:50:18.91 that you have to take out when you're 70 and a half. 00:50:18.95\00:50:21.45 Call us. 00:50:21.72\00:50:23.05 You can make that as a direct donation, Mollie, 00:50:23.08\00:50:25.72 to 3ABN and never have to pay any taxes on it. 00:50:26.19\00:50:30.13 - Save you money. - That's right. 00:50:30.16\00:50:31.99 You know, Earlenne, I'm thinking of... 00:50:32.03\00:50:35.30 We're talking about people, obviously, that has money 00:50:35.73\00:50:40.64 that they need to invest. 00:50:40.67\00:50:42.60 But I'm thinking, oh Earlenne, I'm thinking about 00:50:42.80\00:50:45.04 the young people, that their finances are tight. 00:50:45.07\00:50:48.48 And I want you to know, in our Trust Services department 00:50:48.51\00:50:51.71 you can call Earlenne, tell her your situation, 00:50:51.75\00:50:55.05 and she will work with you to get you started. 00:50:55.08\00:50:59.22 Sometimes we just need to get started, 00:50:59.25\00:51:01.89 and then let God... 00:51:01.92\00:51:04.03 Little is much, when?
