We've been in many circles 00:02:34.48\00:02:37.05 before-together in the music circles-but this is 00:02:37.15\00:02:39.95 a privilege to get a chance to sit down 00:02:40.06\00:02:41.46 and find out more about you and look at some of 00:02:41.52\00:02:43.73 the affinities that the Lord has allowed us to 00:02:43.79\00:02:45.36 share. But for our viewing and listening audience, kind 00:02:45.43\00:02:48.26 of tell them who you are, where you're from, and 00:02:48.36\00:02:50.63 what you do right now. - Well, I am from Tampa, 00:02:50.70\00:02:53.57 Florida-born there in Plant City, Florida. Calvary, and I'm the founder of Feed Our 00:03:02.81\00:03:06.85 Children Ministries. - Okay. And it's good 00:03:06.95\00:03:09.72 to have you here today. We have quite a journey 00:03:09.85\00:03:11.39 to walk through, because I'm seeing you now in a 00:03:11.49\00:03:14.79 completely different light. My wife had a chance to 00:03:14.89\00:03:16.93 talk to you and the privilege of interviewing you on 3ABN 00:03:17.06\00:03:20.53 Radio; and when she came home and told me some of 00:03:20.70\00:03:22.90 your story... I mean, I teared up, realizing that 00:03:23.00\00:03:26.13 the journey that the Lord has taken you on 00:03:26.23\00:03:29.34 has a lot of similarities with mine. We're not 00:03:29.44\00:03:32.07 going to tell my story today; we're going to 00:03:32.17\00:03:33.74 tell your story, and we're going to dive 00:03:33.84\00:03:35.28 right in so that our audience could go on 00:03:35.38\00:03:38.01 this journey with you to see the wonderful providence of 00:03:38.11\00:03:41.72 God. Let's dive into the beginning, and I'll turn 00:03:41.82\00:03:44.65 it over to you. - Well, it started off with a 00:03:44.75\00:03:46.96 girl by the name Cherry. At 13 years old, she had 00:03:48.16\00:03:50.69 lost her parents there in Manning, South Carolina. 00:03:50.79\00:03:54.03 Set of twins; her twin sister's name was Trudy. 00:03:54.96\00:03:57.73 And when her parents died, she had to move in with her 00:03:58.43\00:04:01.34 older sister there in Hallandale, Florida. 00:04:01.40\00:04:03.71 They migrated down to Hallandale, Florida, and 00:04:03.74\00:04:07.18 she was still one of those who loved to go to church. 00:04:07.28\00:04:09.78 She was one who went to Sunday school. Her daddy 00:04:10.85\00:04:14.35 was a Baptist preacher there in Manning. And 00:04:14.45\00:04:17.09 while she was going to church there, that particular Sunday- 00:04:17.22\00:04:20.66 it was on a hot August day-she was walking 00:04:20.76\00:04:23.32 home from a BTU service that they had. And as 00:04:23.43\00:04:28.36 she was walking home, one of the deacons 00:04:28.46\00:04:30.33 invited her to take a ride with her to go 00:04:30.43\00:04:34.44 home. She was a little reluctant at first; and 00:04:34.54\00:04:39.51 she decided, "Well, he's a man of authority; he 00:04:39.61\00:04:42.21 was a deacon," and also one of the first police 00:04:42.34\00:04:44.11 officers there in that city. She got in the 00:04:44.21\00:04:48.25 car, and she still was a little reluctant...but 00:04:48.35\00:04:51.19 she said, "I can trust him." But that trust 00:04:51.25\00:04:54.52 turned into tragedy. At that point, while 00:04:54.59\00:04:58.89 they were driving towards her house, he suddenly made 00:04:59.03\00:05:01.96 a turn that was in a different direction. And 00:05:02.03\00:05:05.20 she said, "Why are you taking me this way?" 00:05:05.33\00:05:07.07 And he indicated to her, "Listen, I don't want you 00:05:07.24\00:05:09.94 to- just look at this new house I got." He 00:05:10.04\00:05:12.24 was a builder, also, and he had a beautiful home 00:05:12.34\00:05:14.71 that he was building. He's like, "I just want 00:05:14.81\00:05:16.88 to take you around so you can at least see 00:05:16.95\00:05:18.35 what my house looks like." And so as they were walking 00:05:18.41\00:05:21.02 through that house... She said when she got 00:05:21.12\00:05:24.19 to the bedroom area, his whole demeanor changed, 00:05:24.29\00:05:28.02 and that's where he took advantage of her, and her 00:05:28.12\00:05:31.79 life never had been the same since. She said she 00:05:31.86\00:05:36.83 didn't think she was pregnant, because she 00:05:36.93\00:05:38.73 was fighting through that thing...so she didn't really 00:05:38.83\00:05:42.17 think really anything happened. But as it 00:05:42.27\00:05:46.27 came out, a few months later, her sister was 00:05:46.34\00:05:48.64 looking at her and she said, "Cherry, you are 00:05:48.71\00:05:51.01 pregnant!" And she didn't know what to do, 'cause 00:05:51.11\00:05:55.48 at that time, she was just a child, herself. She just 00:05:55.58\00:06:00.79 left it in God's hands. She kept it silent from 00:06:00.89\00:06:02.62 her older sisters first. But in the interim of 00:06:02.76\00:06:06.06 that, they had to suddenly move from Hallandale to a 00:06:06.13\00:06:09.53 place called Plant City (which is about four hours 00:06:09.66\00:06:12.23 away), because her older sister's husband had gotten 00:06:12.30\00:06:17.14 in some kind of gambling, disputing... They had to 00:06:17.21\00:06:19.84 get out of town, quickly. But it was still the providence 00:06:19.91\00:06:23.21 of God that God was navigating this whole 00:06:23.35\00:06:25.48 thing all the way through, because in Plant City is 00:06:25.55\00:06:27.92 where she decided she wanted to have her baby... 00:06:28.02\00:06:31.42 and she turned 14 at that time. She told her older 00:06:31.49\00:06:35.62 sisters that, "I want to have my baby. I want 00:06:35.69\00:06:38.29 to keep my baby." But to the surprise to her... 00:06:38.39\00:06:42.73 And so she said, "No, you can't have that 00:06:43.73\00:06:45.53 child here! We're barely feeding YOU! How are 00:06:45.63\00:06:49.97 we going to feed you with the little money we have 00:06:50.07\00:06:51.74 with just beans and rice and..." And her husband 00:06:51.81\00:06:55.08 had a gambling debt and they didn't know what to 00:06:55.18\00:06:57.85 do. She said, "And there is somebody that we know 00:06:57.95\00:07:01.38 in town, and they can kinda clear this whole 00:07:01.48\00:07:04.85 thing up so you don't have to go through this. 00:07:04.95\00:07:06.89 You don't want to have to live with this thing." 00:07:06.99\00:07:10.19 And she said, "If you go down to this certain 00:07:10.26\00:07:11.99 house, back in the ghetto back there, certainly, they 00:07:12.09\00:07:15.86 knew how to do abortions." And she didn't know what 00:07:15.96\00:07:19.50 to do. She said, "Oh, God, this is not what 00:07:19.63\00:07:21.24 I want to do in my heart." But they told her that, 00:07:21.34\00:07:24.51 "You cannot bring the baby back here." She 00:07:24.61\00:07:27.61 said, "If you want to keep your baby, you 00:07:27.71\00:07:29.81 have to find somewhere where you AND the baby 00:07:29.88\00:07:31.58 can stay." She said, "The only other thing you can 00:07:31.65\00:07:34.22 do is just leave that child there." And so, 00:07:34.32\00:07:37.69 she was thinking, and she decided that, "Well, 00:07:37.75\00:07:41.52 I have no money; I have no other options." And 00:07:42.26\00:07:44.99 so, she was given that address to go and get 00:07:45.06\00:07:47.50 rid of the child. And while she was walking 00:07:47.60\00:07:50.23 down that way, Pastor John, she heard a voice, 00:07:50.33\00:07:54.67 like an epiphany came over her and said, "In 00:07:55.30\00:07:57.37 all your ways, acknowledge Me." She remembered those 00:07:57.51\00:08:00.24 scriptures; that's why it's good to keep your 00:08:00.31\00:08:01.64 children in Sabbath school and church school, 'cause 00:08:01.68\00:08:05.31 those scriptures came back to her: "In all your 00:08:05.41\00:08:07.05 ways, acknowledge me, and I will direct your 00:08:07.15\00:08:09.68 path. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and 00:08:09.78\00:08:12.65 lean not upon your own understanding." And she 00:08:12.75\00:08:15.66 knew that voice; even as a child, she knew that 00:08:15.76\00:08:18.53 voice. See, that's the voice of Jesus. But 00:08:18.59\00:08:22.36 still, she didn't see any way that she could 00:08:22.46\00:08:24.93 keep this child. It was just overwhelming for 00:08:25.03\00:08:29.64 her. And she thought in her mind, "I gotta 00:08:29.74\00:08:33.98 go through this," so she kept moving 'cause she 00:08:34.08\00:08:37.05 had no other answers. But when she put her 00:08:37.15\00:08:40.02 hand on the door, she said that, "I heard a 00:08:40.12\00:08:42.05 distinct voice: 'If you will let Me have this 00:08:42.15\00:08:45.32 child, I will be its Father.'" And right 00:08:45.42\00:08:52.36 then, she knew she can trust Him where she 00:08:52.46\00:08:54.66 couldn't trace Him. And she put it in God's hands, 00:08:54.76\00:08:58.80 and she turned away with an expression of joy that 00:08:58.90\00:09:05.07 she had never had before, and she walked back home, 00:09:05.17\00:09:08.18 feeling good, because she could tell her sisters 00:09:08.34\00:09:10.21 that God was going to take care of that child. But to 00:09:10.31\00:09:13.75 her surprise when she got back home and told 00:09:13.78\00:09:16.12 them that she was going to keep her child, they 00:09:16.22\00:09:19.12 came back with the same scenario. "You can't have 00:09:19.19\00:09:23.56 that child here." So she knew there was only 00:09:23.66\00:09:26.63 one option left...to leave the child in the hospital. 00:09:26.73\00:09:30.10 She went down to the South Florida Baptist 00:09:30.87\00:09:33.34 Hospital there in Plant City. And as a 14-year-old girl 00:09:33.37\00:09:37.77 trying to figure out, you know, "Do I want 00:09:37.84\00:09:40.21 to do the will of God?" It's something about 00:09:40.31\00:09:42.04 when you do the will of God... Look, I believe 00:09:42.14\00:09:43.48 if it's God's will, it's God's bill. - That's 00:09:43.55\00:09:46.65 right. [laughter] I like that; I like that. - And 00:09:46.75\00:09:48.62 He has never missed a payment. And she realized 00:09:48.68\00:09:51.55 that He had the tab for this. And so while she was 00:09:51.62\00:09:55.52 in the hospital, she didn't know where to turn to. 00:09:55.59\00:09:57.63 But after the baby was born, she told the doctors- 00:09:58.16\00:10:02.53 she said, "Doctor, do you know anybody who 00:10:02.63\00:10:04.83 could take care of my baby? I don't want to 00:10:04.97\00:10:06.70 just throw it into the system. Do you know 00:10:06.80\00:10:08.37 any Christian people?" And first, he was saying, 00:10:08.44\00:10:13.11 "I don't want to get into this," you know? 00:10:13.21\00:10:15.18 He was a Caucasian doctor, and he said, "I don't wanna 00:10:15.24\00:10:17.81 really get into those kinds of things; that's 00:10:17.88\00:10:19.31 something for you to handle." But she said 00:10:19.41\00:10:21.48 as he was walking out the door, he heard a 00:10:21.55\00:10:24.25 voice, himself. This is what God? 00:10:24.32\00:10:26.39 He said he would change the hearts of kings, and 00:10:26.45\00:10:29.69 then He put it on his head a lady's name by 00:10:29.79\00:10:32.33 the name of Annette LeRoy Brown. He knew they keep 00:10:32.39\00:10:36.16 kids! They kept kids, and they were very 00:10:36.23\00:10:39.97 loving parents, 'cause they adopted two children from 00:10:40.10\00:10:44.31 the Adventist Soul Career Orphanage there. 00:10:44.37\00:10:48.14 They had a couple other kids, but never had any 00:10:48.24\00:10:49.88 kids of their own; never had any babies at all. 00:10:49.98\00:10:52.41 He was led to call them. When he called them, 00:10:53.05\00:10:55.48 he said, "We got a child down here that the mother 00:10:55.58\00:10:58.82 wants it to be in a Christian home. Do 00:10:58.92\00:11:01.29 you want to come and just investigate it before 00:11:01.39\00:11:03.22 it goes into the system?" And they came down, and 00:11:03.32\00:11:07.30 God inspired them to stand there. They took the child 00:11:07.40\00:11:10.13 in his hand (which was me!) and they said, "I'm 00:11:10.23\00:11:13.17 going to name this child Moses Samuel Brown," 00:11:13.23\00:11:16.34 she said, "because this child's coming out of the 00:11:16.97\00:11:19.64 bulrushes, and I know this child is for us." 00:11:19.74\00:11:23.08 And they took me and they gave me an opportunity that 00:11:23.81\00:11:27.08 I would never have gotten- I would've never got- I feel 00:11:27.18\00:11:30.15 like I'm sitting here today because it was 00:11:30.25\00:11:33.02 the decision that took place years ago in those 00:11:33.15\00:11:36.52 rooms that somebody trusted God...trusted God in the midst 00:11:36.62\00:11:40.56 of the storm, and they refused to let a good 00:11:40.66\00:11:43.20 storm go to waste, 'cause I gotta take this and make 00:11:43.30\00:11:46.43 something out of it. And there, from that opportunity 00:11:46.53\00:11:49.80 that two mothers made a decision: one made a decision 00:11:49.94\00:11:54.84 to let me live, and the other one made a decision to show 00:11:54.94\00:11:59.28 me how to live. And through that, my life had been 00:11:59.41\00:12:02.62 navigated all the way to this point through their 00:12:02.72\00:12:05.12 influence. And I stand here today, saying, 00:12:05.22\00:12:08.39 Pastor John, that I'm so glad that little girl, 00:12:08.49\00:12:12.53 Cherry, when she had me... She didn't know exactly 00:12:12.63\00:12:17.03 how it was going to turn out, but this is what God 00:12:17.23\00:12:20.44 had in mind-me sitting here, talking to you today. 00:12:20.54\00:12:22.87 - Wow. - This is what God had in mind when I 00:12:22.97\00:12:25.61 move around and witness to people in evangelism. 00:12:25.71\00:12:29.71 The devil should've took me a long time ago... It's 00:12:29.81\00:12:32.91 too late now. - That's right. - He should've 00:12:33.01\00:12:35.65 took me out then, but he couldn't do anything 00:12:35.75\00:12:37.35 with it. But I'm here today on the testimony 00:12:37.45\00:12:40.52 of those who believe that God can do anything 00:12:40.62\00:12:44.39 through any tragic situation. He took a mess, and He made 00:12:44.49\00:12:49.60 a miracle. That's me. - You know, I think... 00:12:49.76\00:12:52.37 I want to pause right here and just play that song. 00:12:52.50\00:12:56.74 You know, you are not only a person that God 00:12:56.84\00:12:59.34 has rescued... There's so much in your story; 00:12:59.44\00:13:02.38 I'm kind of holding you back that I can see is 00:13:02.48\00:13:05.41 a part of the way that God leads, even in my 00:13:05.51\00:13:08.55 life-you know, the way that your life began... 00:13:08.62\00:13:10.69 the way that my life began. But God has a 00:13:10.79\00:13:13.39 plan! He doesn't take tragedies and chalk 'em 00:13:13.56\00:13:17.13 up as a disaster: "I can't do anything with 00:13:17.23\00:13:19.66 this." And as you listen to this song that brother 00:13:19.76\00:13:23.87 Moses Brown is going to sing, "It Is Well with My 00:13:23.97\00:13:26.57 Soul," I want you to know that- I don't know where 00:13:26.70\00:13:29.34 you are right now, and you may be a young person 00:13:29.44\00:13:31.84 right now at that very same intersection, wondering, "What 00:13:31.97\00:13:35.78 am I going to do? I'm pregnant. I don't know 00:13:35.84\00:13:37.41 what to do. Where's my life headed?" I want you 00:13:37.51\00:13:40.58 to know Moses' life is a testament that you 00:13:40.62\00:13:44.25 don't have to worry. God's... What'd you say about the 00:13:44.32\00:13:47.52 bill? - If it's God's will, it's God's bill. 00:13:47.62\00:13:50.49 - If it's God's will, it's God's bill; and I 00:13:50.63\00:13:52.59 want you to listen to this song "It Is Well with My Soul," 00:13:52.69\00:13:54.66 because it is well with his soul, it is well with MY 00:13:54.83\00:13:57.67 soul. I pray as you listen to this song, it will be well 00:13:57.73\00:14:01.17 with your soul. 00:14:01.24\00:14:02.77 When peace like a river attendeth my way 00:14:15.88\00:14:24.96 When sorrows like sea billows roll 00:14:26.63\00:14:35.20 Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say 00:14:36.37\00:14:45.38 It is well; it is well with my soul 00:14:45.95\00:14:55.46 It is well 00:14:56.32\00:14:59.96 With my soul 00:15:01.26\00:15:04.97 Oh, it is well; it is well with my soul 00:15:05.83\00:15:15.34 Oh, Lord haste the day when Thy faith shall be sight 00:15:17.95\00:15:27.26 And the clouds be rolled back as a scroll 00:15:27.92\00:15:35.90 And the trump, it shall sound, and the Lord shall descend 00:15:36.77\00:15:45.21 Even so, it was well with my soul 00:15:45.71\00:15:54.82 Is it well 00:15:55.52\00:15:57.82 With your soul? 00:16:00.29\00:16:02.29 Is it well; is it well with your soul? 00:16:04.66\00:16:13.64 It is well 00:16:15.17\00:16:18.27 With my soul 00:16:20.31\00:16:22.98 Yes, it is. 00:16:23.08\00:16:24.75 It is well; it is well 00:16:25.58\00:16:32.62 With my soul 00:16:33.12\00:16:37.93 My soul 00:16:38.69\00:16:40.63 My soul 00:16:41.06\00:16:46.84 - Praise the Lord. It is well with brother 00:16:49.87\00:16:52.07 Moses Brown's soul, and I pray that it is also well 00:16:52.17\00:16:55.58 with yours. Tell us about the person that accompanied 00:16:55.68\00:16:58.48 you on the piano! - That was my dear, lovely wife, 00:16:58.58\00:17:00.88 Jeanette ? Brown. She is an accompaniment 00:17:00.98\00:17:04.22 musician, and... Ah, goodness-I couldn't 00:17:04.32\00:17:06.65 live without her. [laughter] - And what an amazing 00:17:06.72\00:17:11.13 beginning; and I know that- I'm going to say 00:17:11.19\00:17:12.79 this to our audience that's listening and watching; 00:17:12.89\00:17:15.13 we'll give you information later on in the program 00:17:15.93\00:17:17.90 how you can invite brother Moses Brown. I call him 00:17:18.00\00:17:21.07 brother Moses Brown although you are very 00:17:21.17\00:17:22.50 qualified; you have your M.Div., you have your 00:17:22.60\00:17:24.31 PhD, and God has qualified you in so many ways- 00:17:24.37\00:17:27.98 educationally and spiritually- but you want to hear the 00:17:28.08\00:17:30.65 full-blown story. You want to invite him to 00:17:30.75\00:17:33.18 come, he and his wife, to share the tremendous 00:17:33.28\00:17:37.69 journey that he has been on ever since the Lord 00:17:37.82\00:17:41.16 stepped in and rescued him. What a name-Moses. Taken 00:17:41.26\00:17:44.99 from the bulrushes. Now, you have this opportunity 00:17:45.09\00:17:50.33 through a woman who God impressed her heart to 00:17:50.43\00:17:53.60 bring you in, but now you're growing up as 00:17:53.70\00:17:55.67 a teenager. When you found out about how your life 00:17:55.77\00:17:58.27 began, were there any kind of emotional challenges 00:17:58.37\00:18:01.44 there? Tell us about some of that, because people 00:18:01.58\00:18:03.88 sometimes don't see that side of it. Sometimes they 00:18:03.98\00:18:06.41 see angry young kids, or children that are rebellious, 00:18:06.51\00:18:08.95 but they don't understand behind it, there's a tapestry. 00:18:09.05\00:18:11.09 - Well, things were going pretty well. As a child, 00:18:11.22\00:18:14.72 I was the baby. And you know, my other siblings 00:18:14.82\00:18:19.29 there said I was spoiled. [laughter] But I didn't 00:18:19.39\00:18:24.20 think I was spoiled, but I was really loved by 00:18:24.30\00:18:26.27 Annette and LeRoy Brown was the day I 00:18:26.37\00:18:30.71 was- LeRoy Brown, a name like that... But they 00:18:30.81\00:18:33.78 gave me so much love that I didn't even notice anything 00:18:33.88\00:18:36.88 that was off from parents who had their own children. 00:18:36.98\00:18:42.32 - They filled the gap beautifully. - Very good. 00:18:42.42\00:18:45.05 My name was Brown, and I just assumed that I kind 00:18:45.15\00:18:48.02 of looked like LeRoy Brown. But as I got 00:18:48.09\00:18:52.26 older, there were relatives that were around, and you 00:18:52.36\00:18:55.50 hear different things that drop here and there, and 00:18:55.60\00:18:59.73 then I finally realized that this is something different. 00:18:59.80\00:19:03.84 And then, when my mother explained to me what happened, 00:19:03.94\00:19:08.31 I didn't see it like they saw it; I saw it as betrayal. I 00:19:09.88\00:19:17.75 saw it as... I said, "You lied to me. I thought I 00:19:17.85\00:19:22.49 was a Brown," and I was actually a Rogers- a 00:19:22.59\00:19:27.13 Scott...wherever they went with it. I said, "What 00:19:27.23\00:19:31.33 kind of stuff is this?" and I was angry at 00:19:31.40\00:19:34.47 everyone in the whole scenario, and I was angry 00:19:34.54\00:19:38.57 at the woman that gave me away, because I discovered 00:19:38.67\00:19:43.24 later that she had got remarried and didn't 00:19:43.35\00:19:45.65 understand what that was about till I found out that 00:19:45.71\00:19:48.28 she got remarried 'cause she got married to someone 00:19:48.38\00:19:51.82 who was very abusive, 'cause she was trying to 00:19:51.92\00:19:54.89 find security. She had no job, no nothing; and it was 00:19:54.99\00:19:58.89 a man that would beat her unmercifully...and the 00:19:58.96\00:20:02.20 children. I looked into that situation, and I 00:20:02.33\00:20:06.47 said, "Oh, God." And she's the one who told me that, 00:20:06.57\00:20:09.24 "If I had kept you, most likely, he would've killed 00:20:09.37\00:20:13.04 you." - Hm. - And that didn't even register like 00:20:13.14\00:20:17.91 it should have at the time. I looked at the 00:20:18.01\00:20:21.78 mother who gave me away, the one who kept me, and 00:20:21.88\00:20:25.62 those scenarios seemed to add up. "You should've kept 00:20:25.72\00:20:31.66 me and kept me where I could've been with you, 00:20:31.76\00:20:34.30 my birth mother." - That longing to be with your 00:20:34.40\00:20:37.67 birth mother. - That longing that I had- 00:20:37.80\00:20:40.57 actually, "Who was my dad!?" Every man wants to know 00:20:40.60\00:20:43.54 who his father is. - That's right. - And she pointed 00:20:43.64\00:20:47.01 out the fact- that's when she explained to me that, 00:20:47.11\00:20:50.31 "You came into a situation where there was an abuse 00:20:50.38\00:20:54.58 situation with a man that took advantage of me." 00:20:54.68\00:20:58.29 And that didn't register deep, but then I knew that 00:20:58.99\00:21:02.02 there was a man that I had his DNA in me. When I 00:21:02.12\00:21:07.50 was going to Forest Lake Academy, we were singing 00:21:07.60\00:21:09.93 down in that area of Hallandale, and I went 00:21:10.07\00:21:13.84 there. And while we were singing, I'd say, "I'm going to 00:21:13.90\00:21:16.17 call these numbers of this man that was name- 00:21:16.24\00:21:20.08 whose last name was Scott, and I looked up the numbers. 00:21:20.14\00:21:23.21 When I got to one of the numbers, I said, "Well, 00:21:23.31\00:21:25.35 that person died just a few weeks ago, and we 00:21:25.45\00:21:28.75 had his funeral." - Hm! - That was my father. 00:21:28.82\00:21:32.59 And I realized right then that God did not want that 00:21:33.32\00:21:35.82 to come across together, and He wanted to block it. 00:21:35.92\00:21:40.56 And I couldn't understand it, but I realized that when 00:21:40.66\00:21:44.43 God told my mother that He would be my father, 00:21:44.53\00:21:47.74 He said, "I'm a jealous God," and He didn't want 00:21:48.80\00:21:52.51 anything to interfere for the path He already laid 00:21:52.61\00:21:55.11 out for me. And that was like a hindrance that I felt 00:21:55.21\00:22:00.62 that even God betrayed me at that point, I thought. 00:22:00.72\00:22:03.39 And then, as I left Forest Lake and I was kind of 00:22:05.12\00:22:08.19 moving around and trying to figure myself out, he 00:22:08.29\00:22:11.69 spoke to me; he said, "Listen- if you would 00:22:11.83\00:22:14.66 give Me your life, if you would take My hand," He 00:22:14.73\00:22:18.57 said, "you will realize that it was My hand that 00:22:18.70\00:22:21.77 put you in that hospital there in Plant City where 00:22:21.84\00:22:26.47 that woman could come and get you- I put you 00:22:26.57\00:22:29.34 into a Seventh-day Adventist home." He 00:22:29.41\00:22:32.78 said, "I started you where I wanted you. And because 00:22:32.88\00:22:35.88 of that, I gave you a place where you can 00:22:35.95\00:22:38.49 have covering and that you can go in the path 00:22:38.59\00:22:41.36 that I have already mapped out for you." He said, "You 00:22:41.42\00:22:44.29 gotta trust me in this, Moses. You gotta trust 00:22:44.33\00:22:46.09 me in this." And when I understood that, I realized- 00:22:46.16\00:22:50.30 when I realized and TRULY realized that it was the hand 00:22:50.40\00:22:53.67 of God that was navigating this messed up life, I surrendered 00:22:53.70\00:22:57.74 all to Him and I gave it to Him. I said, "Lord, take 00:22:57.84\00:23:00.68 this mess..." I said, "Take this mess of mine," 00:23:00.78\00:23:07.45 'cause I didn't know what to do with it, John; I didn't 00:23:08.38\00:23:09.98 know what to do, and I felt that I could trust Him. 00:23:10.09\00:23:13.96 He said, "I will put you in places where you could 00:23:14.06\00:23:17.23 never go, and I will send you around the world." I 00:23:17.33\00:23:20.40 didn't understand that! He said, "I will send you 00:23:20.50\00:23:22.96 around to preach this gospel and I'll help you 00:23:23.03\00:23:25.63 to comfort other people." He said, "I need you to let 00:23:25.70\00:23:28.54 go and forgive." And when I forgave those who I felt 00:23:28.64\00:23:33.21 that did me wrong, I realized they were not doing me wrong; 00:23:33.34\00:23:39.58 they were helping me, to put my life in order, because 00:23:39.71\00:23:45.42 the devil used to whisper in my ear. He said, "How 00:23:45.52\00:23:47.99 can you be anything when you came here accidentally!? 00:23:48.09\00:23:51.93 How can you be- you're a tragedy! You have no 00:23:52.06\00:23:55.66 purpose; you were not even meant to be! How could God 00:23:55.73\00:23:59.27 have an outline for you? You should just"- he would 00:23:59.33\00:24:01.60 tell me, "You should take your life 'cause you never 00:24:01.70\00:24:04.04 had one!" - Mm. - And God had to whisper in my ears 00:24:04.14\00:24:09.34 when I hear those songs, He says, "Peace be still," 00:24:09.48\00:24:13.21 and I used to hear that thing. "Peace be still." 00:24:13.82\00:24:16.05 And I found peace. I found peace in trusting in Him. 00:24:16.15\00:24:20.56 And today, I can say that through that, everything 00:24:21.09\00:24:24.86 that God had promised me, I found that He is one that 00:24:24.96\00:24:29.30 keeps every promise. I've learned one thing, Pastor 00:24:29.40\00:24:32.50 John: that if I pursue His presence, He would 00:24:32.57\00:24:37.71 deliver His promise. - Okay, wonderful; wonderful. - See, 00:24:37.77\00:24:41.78 I used to pursue the promise-the things that 00:24:41.84\00:24:44.98 He said He was going to do-but I wasn't pursuing 00:24:45.05\00:24:47.18 Him. But He had to rewind the script and say, "Listen, 00:24:47.28\00:24:53.25 it's not the promise I want you to be pursuing; 00:24:53.32\00:24:55.89 I want you to pursue My presence." For in 00:24:55.96\00:24:59.29 His presence, I discovered my purpose. - Mm. - See, 00:24:59.39\00:25:05.63 one thing the devil couldn't mess with was the purpose 00:25:05.73\00:25:08.57 that God gave me. - Wow. - He could get in the process, 00:25:08.67\00:25:11.77 'cause the process, you can mingle it with all kinds 00:25:13.21\00:25:15.61 of things and try to discourage me and all those other things 00:25:15.71\00:25:18.55 in the process, but it was through prayer that pushed 00:25:18.65\00:25:22.28 me through this to get to the purpose that God 00:25:22.35\00:25:24.95 had placed me here for. - Wow. He hid you from 00:25:25.05\00:25:28.69 what could've been. - Yes. - He put you in the cleft of 00:25:28.76\00:25:31.66 a rock so that you could just get a glimpse of His 00:25:31.76\00:25:34.50 glory. - Oh, yes. - He said, "Moses, if I didn't 00:25:34.60\00:25:37.03 hide you, your life would've been a tragedy complete..." 00:25:37.07\00:25:40.34 But He hid you in the cleft of the rock. That's 00:25:41.07\00:25:43.87 why when you sing that song, which I'm going to 00:25:43.97\00:25:45.81 go to right now-"He Hideth My Soul"-your life is a result 00:25:45.91\00:25:50.35 of Him hiding you from what could've been. See, we don't 00:25:50.41\00:25:52.85 understand the way God works; God works in ways 00:25:52.95\00:25:55.25 that are just mysterious to us. But when we rewind 00:25:55.32\00:25:58.39 the tape of our lives, we recognize, "He shielded 00:25:58.52\00:26:02.09 me at that moment. He came in and rescued me! 00:26:02.16\00:26:05.06 I could've been the child that was killed by this 00:26:05.16\00:26:07.23 man who was abusive to my mother who had given 00:26:07.36\00:26:09.96 me up! He saved me from that!" And we go back and 00:26:10.07\00:26:12.63 we realize, "I would not have had it any other 00:26:12.70\00:26:14.57 way if I could rewind this video tape." That song is 00:26:14.64\00:26:18.04 a wonderful song of ministry; and as you listen to this song, 00:26:18.11\00:26:20.41 "He Hideth My Soul," recognize that you may 00:26:20.48\00:26:22.81 be going through some places in your life where 00:26:22.88\00:26:26.72 you cannot understand it! But the Lord is maybe 00:26:26.75\00:26:29.75 hiding YOUR soul so that what could have been is 00:26:29.85\00:26:33.22 being prevented by His providence and His love 00:26:33.36\00:26:35.86 for you. Listen to this ministry, "He Hideth My Soul." 00:26:35.96\00:26:39.63 A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord 00:26:57.35\00:27:05.22 A wonderful Savior to me 00:27:06.09\00:27:12.79 He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock 00:27:13.73\00:27:21.67 Where rivers of pleasures I see 00:27:22.34\00:27:29.84 A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord 00:27:30.48\00:27:38.32 He taketh my burdens all away 00:27:39.09\00:27:45.39 He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved 00:27:46.83\00:27:54.27 He giveth me strength for my day 00:27:54.77\00:28:02.18 He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock 00:28:02.81\00:28:09.98 Where rivers are dry, thirsty lands 00:28:10.45\00:28:16.52 He hideth my life in the depths of His love 00:28:17.86\00:28:25.80 And He covers me there with His hands 00:28:26.03\00:28:32.37 Oh, He covers me there with his hands 00:28:32.61\00:28:41.15 When clothed in His brightness, transported I'll rise 00:28:45.92\00:28:53.73 To meet Him in clouds of the sky 00:28:54.20\00:29:00.60 His perfect salvation, His wonderful love 00:29:01.17\00:29:08.31 I'll shout with the millions on high 00:29:08.88\00:29:15.95 He hideth my soul in the clefts of the rock 00:29:16.05\00:29:22.82 Where rivers are dry, thirsty lands 00:29:23.46\00:29:28.90 Oh, He hideth my life in the depths of His love 00:29:30.27\00:29:38.24 And He covers me there with His hands 00:29:38.34\00:29:44.85 Oh- yes, He covers me there... Mmm... 00:29:45.05\00:29:53.39 Oh, He'll cover you there... 00:29:54.29\00:29:58.69 Oh, He covered me there with His 00:30:01.56\00:30:09.57 hand! 00:30:09.67\00:30:18.68 - I know that as you listen to that song, you know 00:30:24.32\00:30:26.19 that it is true: many of us wouldn't be here today 00:30:26.29\00:30:29.12 if the Lord had not hidden us from the tragedies of 00:30:29.22\00:30:32.43 life-in the cleft of the rock where we see 00:30:32.53\00:30:34.86 His glory, and we'll experience His protective 00:30:34.96\00:30:37.53 care. Isn't that wonderful? - Yes. - Now, your life... 00:30:37.63\00:30:40.27 As you're unfolding this, I'm sitting here... I'm kind 00:30:40.37\00:30:42.90 of like a balloon being filled with water (please 00:30:43.00\00:30:45.24 don't stick me with a pin; I'm gonna pop), 00:30:45.34\00:30:46.81 because your life is a miracle. It's an amazing 00:30:47.74\00:30:49.28 story, and people are being touched by that. 00:30:49.38\00:30:51.65 And I know there is so much more, which I'm 00:30:51.75\00:30:53.08 going to say to the audience we'll let you know how to 00:30:53.15\00:30:55.35 get in touch with Moses and his wife, to invite them 00:30:55.45\00:30:58.35 to come to your community. But now, the Lord brings 00:30:58.45\00:31:02.16 you beyond that angry childhood-that childhood 00:31:02.22\00:31:06.29 that when you discovered all these things that the 00:31:06.39\00:31:09.70 Lord hid you from, you couldn't organize them 00:31:09.80\00:31:12.60 together. But you get married, you grow up, 00:31:12.67\00:31:16.10 you have children of your own, but another tragedy 00:31:16.17\00:31:19.21 is on the way. Tell us about it. - It was while 00:31:19.31\00:31:22.58 I was doing a crusade, and I just saw God move 00:31:22.68\00:31:28.38 like I've never seen before there in Kenya, 00:31:28.45\00:31:31.19 in Kisumu. - Well, show some of those pictures 00:31:31.29\00:31:34.26 later on. - Yes. And we have other styles of the 00:31:34.36\00:31:36.69 people there, and I got back from there- the 00:31:36.79\00:31:41.03 high of an experience with Christ and then on March the 00:31:41.13\00:31:46.23 6th, 2007, one of my daughters called me and 00:31:46.33\00:31:50.97 said, "Daddy, David is dead." I was stunned. 00:31:51.04\00:31:56.68 My only son... He was 21 years old; never 00:31:56.78\00:32:00.72 really got to the bottom of it, but he was one of 00:32:00.85\00:32:03.79 the?. So many different stories I got 00:32:03.82\00:32:06.65 from there-but I just knew the bottom line: 00:32:06.76\00:32:09.02 he was dead at 21 years old. Well, John, my life 00:32:09.12\00:32:14.20 changed at that very moment, and I was there, 00:32:14.30\00:32:18.37 thinking; said, "Lord, what could've happened? 00:32:18.47\00:32:20.40 That's my son-he had a bright future ahead of 00:32:20.50\00:32:23.00 him!" She reminded me, "David is dead." I looked 00:32:23.10\00:32:30.21 around and I said, "Lord, this CAN'T be." I didn't 00:32:30.31\00:32:34.02 know how to handle it. I mean, when a parent 00:32:34.12\00:32:36.38 loses a child, you don't even comprehend how to 00:32:36.45\00:32:42.39 even juggle the different things coming at you. That's 00:32:42.52\00:32:46.43 why when people say, "I understand," I knew they 00:32:46.46\00:32:48.30 didn't, because you cannot understand it until you lose 00:32:48.36\00:32:51.10 that child. - Mm. - And God had to sit me down again, 00:32:51.17\00:32:55.07 and I had to ask, "Lord, WHERE WERE YOU, Lord, 00:32:55.17\00:32:57.87 when You took my ONLY child?" And He said, "I 00:32:57.97\00:33:02.61 was in the same place I was when they took My 00:33:02.71\00:33:05.01 Son on Calvary." He said, "I've never moved. I'm 00:33:05.08\00:33:09.78 still the same God." I had to cope with that, 00:33:09.85\00:33:14.89 but I knew that if God was in it...I can't understand 00:33:15.79\00:33:22.70 the sovereignty of God, because He works in 00:33:22.76\00:33:26.57 mysterious ways. But I knew that if God was in 00:33:26.70\00:33:30.87 it somehow-as Romans 8:28 said, "Everything will work 00:33:30.91\00:33:35.44 together for good to those who love the Lord"-and I 00:33:35.51\00:33:38.78 sat there and said, "Lord, I don't know how this is 00:33:38.88\00:33:41.28 going to come out, but I'm trusting You, again, where 00:33:41.35\00:33:44.42 I cannot trace You." And now that I learned how to 00:33:44.49\00:33:48.69 help others who are going through similar experience, 00:33:49.72\00:33:52.86 who lost loved ones, and some people are 00:33:52.96\00:33:56.80 maybe watching today are defiant because God 00:33:56.90\00:34:00.17 took someone out of their lives that they loved; but 00:34:00.27\00:34:03.51 I want you to know today, wherever you are today, 00:34:03.61\00:34:07.18 God loves you, and He has never forgotten you. You 00:34:07.28\00:34:11.88 have to hold onto every scripture there is because 00:34:11.98\00:34:16.45 that's where you find the peace that passes all 00:34:16.55\00:34:19.39 understanding. - That's right. And you know what, 00:34:19.49\00:34:21.09 let me add a point here: a lot of people think that 00:34:21.19\00:34:23.43 God is the One that took them. - Yes. - But what 00:34:23.53\00:34:25.86 we're actually- necess- saying is, "Why didn't God 00:34:25.96\00:34:27.83 prevent it?" is usually what the question is. 00:34:27.86\00:34:30.33 "Why didn't He stop it?" And if God were to step 00:34:30.43\00:34:33.17 into every scenario that happens to us in this world, 00:34:33.23\00:34:36.24 this actual world would be heaven. But the tragedies 00:34:36.34\00:34:39.81 come, and we look back on these tragedies- 00:34:39.91\00:34:42.18 the loss of a child, the loss of a mother, the 00:34:42.24\00:34:44.28 way that your life was started. And we see at 00:34:45.41\00:34:48.45 these broken places the sovereignty and the love 00:34:48.55\00:34:51.42 of God never, ever wanes. He doesn't stop because 00:34:51.52\00:34:55.22 tragedy strikes us. If a bullet hits us, He's still 00:34:55.29\00:34:58.56 the Healer. If we're incarcerated, He's still 00:34:58.63\00:35:01.23 the One that brings freedom to us in our 00:35:01.26\00:35:03.47 position of incarceration. So, yeah-he allowed it 00:35:03.57\00:35:06.47 to happen, but He wasn't the one that took your 00:35:06.53\00:35:09.07 child. The enemy once again tried to shake your faith, 00:35:09.17\00:35:11.81 'cause he's the one that is the murderer from the 00:35:12.41\00:35:14.51 very beginning. But something came out of this that was 00:35:14.58\00:35:17.25 positive. You know, being raised in a home where 00:35:17.35\00:35:21.02 there's hardly any food, your mother having to 00:35:21.08\00:35:24.19 deal with the same, your natural mom being told, 00:35:24.29\00:35:26.76 "Get rid of your child; we can hardly even 00:35:26.86\00:35:28.66 feed you," the Lord moved you to begin a ministry. 00:35:28.72\00:35:31.73 Let's talk about that for a moment, which 00:35:31.79\00:35:33.50 just changed so many lives. - Yes! It was... 00:35:33.60\00:35:36.40 I was home there in Tampa area, and I just did a brief 00:35:36.46\00:35:43.57 time in the military. I got back, and trying 00:35:43.67\00:35:46.94 to help my mother who had taken care of me for 00:35:47.08\00:35:49.38 a while. And while I was there, there was a shooting 00:35:49.48\00:35:51.51 there in the inner city. At the time, I was doing 00:35:51.61\00:35:54.88 encouragement on the radio at that time, and 00:35:54.98\00:35:58.12 the police department asked me would I come out and 00:35:58.22\00:36:00.19 talk to the kids that were there who watched this 00:36:00.22\00:36:04.39 person get shot down in the parking lot while she 00:36:04.46\00:36:08.36 was begging for her life. I went out in the community, 00:36:08.46\00:36:13.87 and...sometimes, you don't realize how tragically it hits 00:36:13.97\00:36:18.87 people until you're out there with them. I was standing 00:36:19.01\00:36:23.45 around and started talking to the kids and trying to 00:36:23.55\00:36:25.78 encourage them. And brother John, when I started opening 00:36:25.85\00:36:29.35 programs and trying to bring some things in there, 00:36:29.45\00:36:31.59 they started asking me- 'cause I'd bring little snacks 00:36:31.69\00:36:33.46 and we had little talks- and one boy said, "Hey, 00:36:33.49\00:36:36.39 can I have one of those Thanksgiving meals that 00:36:36.52\00:36:39.49 they have on television?" And I said, "What do you 00:36:39.63\00:36:42.63 mean?" "I want one of those Thanksgiving meals 00:36:42.73\00:36:45.37 they have on TV, like the turkey and all the 00:36:45.47\00:36:47.20 other things." And I said, "Well, what did you have 00:36:47.30\00:36:50.87 for Thanksgiving last year?" He said, "We 00:36:50.97\00:36:53.07 had a hotdog and some chips." And right then, 00:36:53.17\00:36:57.41 the Lord said, "Make it happen." I said, "You go 00:36:57.45\00:37:00.95 and get your friends, and I'll ask the people in the 00:37:01.05\00:37:03.12 community to bring food." We set up the whole tables 00:37:03.22\00:37:08.06 with food. And when they came out, I noticed that 00:37:08.16\00:37:12.43 he had more friends than I anticipated. [laughter] 00:37:12.49\00:37:15.10 We had set up for about 100, but it was about 400 00:37:15.83\00:37:19.57 and some people there. - What! - That was lined 00:37:19.67\00:37:21.80 up down the road. And the cameras came out! 00:37:21.87\00:37:24.81 The media came out. They just wanted to see this thing 00:37:24.87\00:37:27.64 was happening, 'cause with the tragedy of the young 00:37:27.74\00:37:30.38 lady... And some of the people who were working with me said, 00:37:30.48\00:37:33.62 "Don't do this, because you will get embarrassed!" 00:37:33.72\00:37:35.88 But then I had to go back to that same thing: if it's 00:37:37.39\00:37:39.15 God's will, it's God's bill. - That's right; I 00:37:39.25\00:37:41.36 like that. - And I remember that He did it in the scriptures with 00:37:41.42\00:37:44.36 fish and the loaves of bread, and I said, "That's the same 00:37:44.49\00:37:47.83 God that was there! He's here! That is not a fantasy 00:37:47.86\00:37:51.43 book; that Book transcends all the way throughout time." 00:37:51.50\00:37:55.50 And I said, "I'm trusting God in this scenario to make 00:37:55.60\00:37:59.07 it happen." I said, "This is not MY reputation; 00:37:59.17\00:38:01.64 it's His." - That's right. - See, a lot of the time, 00:38:01.74\00:38:03.81 we get messed up with our reputation, but when 00:38:03.88\00:38:06.08 I'm doing something for God, it's all on Him. - And 00:38:06.15\00:38:09.48 what happened? How did the people get fed? - The 00:38:09.55\00:38:11.45 people went through the line, everyone went through 00:38:11.52\00:38:14.09 the line, and in our community, people usually bring Tupperware 00:38:14.19\00:38:18.89 and foil. I mean, they want something to take 00:38:18.96\00:38:21.30 home with them, and I was looking at that. You 00:38:21.36\00:38:23.47 can't tell them, "Don't do it"; but when they 00:38:23.50\00:38:25.33 got done, it was enough food left over, brother 00:38:25.40\00:38:29.04 John, that they could take TWO servings with them. 00:38:29.14\00:38:32.07 - That's right. - So when God showed up, He also 00:38:32.17\00:38:34.94 showed out. - That's right. Twelve baskets of? 00:38:35.04\00:38:36.98 - Yes! - You have some pictures that connect 00:38:37.08\00:38:39.38 to that. I want to have them walk through these 00:38:39.48\00:38:41.58 pictures with your Feed the Children organization. 00:38:41.68\00:38:44.35 Let's look at some of those. Explain to us 00:38:44.42\00:38:46.29 what we're going to be seeing here. - These are 00:38:46.35\00:38:48.79 some kids that our ministry spread out into Kenya, 00:38:48.89\00:38:53.53 so when I started going preaching in crusades, I started 00:38:53.60\00:38:55.73 taking Feed Our Children Ministries in those areas, and 00:38:55.83\00:38:58.77 these are a lot of the kids we were reaching out to and 00:38:58.83\00:39:00.70 some of the orphanages there. Some of the families 00:39:00.80\00:39:03.74 in the communities were, when they called us, one 00:39:03.84\00:39:07.11 of the things they had to do- they had to go 00:39:07.21\00:39:08.54 through no red tape; all they had to do was call, 00:39:08.58\00:39:10.08 and we'd bring out gifts and food, AND we'd give 00:39:10.18\00:39:12.48 them literature-Seventh-day Adventist literature. We may 00:39:12.58\00:39:16.82 not see them again, but I believe I'll see them in 00:39:16.92\00:39:19.29 heaven. This is some of the feedings that we do 00:39:19.42\00:39:21.69 during the Thanksgiving. And people from- we 00:39:21.79\00:39:24.36 worked mainly with the migrant families, and you'll 00:39:24.39\00:39:27.66 see some of them coming up next. - Mm. - This is a 00:39:27.76\00:39:32.97 lady in the wheelchair as she was sitting there, she 00:39:33.07\00:39:35.74 hadn't had anything for a long time, and she was 00:39:35.84\00:39:39.34 thankful for the food that we were bringing 00:39:39.44\00:39:41.08 to her. - Wow. - We have huge community outreach 00:39:41.11\00:39:47.42 during the end-of-the-year season, and we just had 00:39:47.52\00:39:51.12 a couple thousand people there, and we were giving 00:39:51.22\00:39:54.32 out. One thing-I want you to know-we've never 00:39:54.42\00:39:56.29 run out. - Amen. - Never- from that time, I learned to 00:39:56.39\00:39:59.56 trust God that we'd never run out. - God's will is God's bill. 00:39:59.66\00:40:02.30 - You can't deplete them. Yes, it is. - I like that. 00:40:02.40\00:40:05.17 - We tried to run a summer camp for the kids, and we 00:40:06.33\00:40:08.67 do the Vacation Bible School for people who 00:40:08.74\00:40:11.01 don't have nowhere to go, and we have good people 00:40:11.11\00:40:14.14 there that we can trust them with those kids, and 00:40:14.24\00:40:16.04 they learn about Christ Jesus. - Mhm. That's 00:40:16.14\00:40:19.38 amazing. But you know, the Lord has done so many 00:40:19.51\00:40:21.68 things in your life; we're just getting little snippets, 00:40:21.75\00:40:23.35 like snapshots, as one person said many years 00:40:23.45\00:40:26.12 ago, of your life. It's amazing how God turns 00:40:26.19\00:40:28.46 tragedy into triumph, and I'm not going to forget that 00:40:28.56\00:40:31.93 anytime soon: "God's will is God's bill." It's amazing; 00:40:31.99\00:40:37.00 while they are clichés, they are true! - Yes. 00:40:37.10\00:40:41.10 - That God... But the Lord allowed you to rub shoulders, 00:40:41.20\00:40:43.20 because He'd not only given you this ministry, 00:40:43.34\00:40:45.84 but then He got you involved in preaching ministry- 00:40:45.91\00:40:48.34 evangelism! And you had an opportunity to meet 00:40:48.44\00:40:51.31 a couple of people that were a part of the 3ABN 00:40:51.41\00:40:55.05 family: brother- Little Richard! You had a chance 00:40:55.12\00:40:57.65 to minister to him. Talk about that briefly. - Just 00:40:57.75\00:40:59.79 before I went to Oakwood, I was in LaGrange, Georgia. 00:40:59.89\00:41:02.99 We used to do something called "Dark County Evangelism," and 00:41:03.06\00:41:06.36 they brought in this man named Little Richard who 00:41:07.76\00:41:10.63 I didn't know. "Come on, let us listen to things." 00:41:10.73\00:41:14.00 I was listening to Del Decker most of the time. And 00:41:14.10\00:41:16.07 during that time, we were just kind of seeing him walk 00:41:16.14\00:41:20.44 up, I saw these cameras come up, and I said, "What's 00:41:20.54\00:41:24.11 going on? Who's this?" They said, "It's Little 00:41:24.21\00:41:25.78 Richard." [laughter] And he came in with his entourage, 00:41:25.88\00:41:29.72 and he sung in the tent that night. I was over 00:41:29.78\00:41:34.66 the movie for that? effort. When he brought 00:41:34.76\00:41:38.33 him in, he asked me, he said, "Listen, on weekends, 00:41:38.43\00:41:40.46 when you get a chance from school, come on out 00:41:40.56\00:41:42.26 and sing with me!" And that's when he was 00:41:42.33\00:41:44.67 preaching. - Okay! - And so, I thought he was just 00:41:44.73\00:41:47.00 a rock star preacher, and found out that he was this 00:41:47.07\00:41:51.94 big superstar. I traveled around with him for years- 00:41:52.01\00:41:55.68 got to see people who... You know, sometimes you 00:41:55.74\00:41:59.81 see people in a whole different genre, and you 00:41:59.85\00:42:01.58 realize that they're just people, too. And when he 00:42:01.65\00:42:04.92 was in an accident, I saw these stars coming up to 00:42:05.02\00:42:07.06 his room, and I saw how God wanted to use him 00:42:07.16\00:42:11.59 to reach them. - That's right. - And many that 00:42:11.69\00:42:15.23 have never heard this truth, this three angels' 00:42:15.36\00:42:18.13 message, got it because he gives out those books 00:42:18.23\00:42:21.04 everywhere he goes. - That's right. Every day, he does that. 00:42:21.14\00:42:23.27 But you've also been involved in ministry- 00:42:23.37\00:42:25.44 a lot of ministry events. We're going to walk through 00:42:25.54\00:42:28.21 some of those pictures and have you explain to 00:42:28.31\00:42:29.81 the audience, and even those who are on the radio, 00:42:29.88\00:42:32.35 give a little detail so they can understand 00:42:32.48\00:42:34.62 what we're seeing here, because God has taken 00:42:34.65\00:42:36.32 you places preaching in different parts of our- 00:42:36.42\00:42:38.59 baptizing, and so many different things. The 00:42:38.69\00:42:41.62 multi-faceted blessing of God is still anointing 00:42:41.69\00:42:46.06 your life and your wife's life and making a difference 00:42:46.13\00:42:48.33 to thousands. Explain what we're seeing right 00:42:48.43\00:42:50.60 here in this picture. - Oh, this is there in?. 00:42:50.70\00:42:54.34 The whole conference wanted to have an evangelistic crusade, 00:42:54.44\00:42:59.67 and I was in that part. We baptized over 20-some 00:42:59.77\00:43:03.78 people just when that week we were there. 00:43:03.88\00:43:05.38 And this is what it's all about, brother John, just 00:43:07.32\00:43:10.12 bringing them to that foot of the cross through the 00:43:10.22\00:43:13.25 pool. That was some of the men that we were 00:43:13.36\00:43:16.76 baptizing. Good to see men baptized! And in 00:43:16.86\00:43:20.00 that area, Curso, they speak a different language; 00:43:20.10\00:43:22.86 so when you're preaching, it's good to have somebody 00:43:22.93\00:43:25.47 who can preach with you- translator that can preach. 00:43:25.57\00:43:29.70 - Ah, I see; the translator's preaching there, too. 00:43:29.80\00:43:31.14 - And this is in Kenya- Kisumu. We had thousands 00:43:31.21\00:43:35.01 of people to come out there, and we were in 00:43:35.08\00:43:36.91 the stadium out there. We just saw many give 00:43:37.01\00:43:40.62 their lives to Christ in the baptism that we 00:43:40.72\00:43:42.45 had there with 300-some souls. - Mm. - This is in 00:43:42.55\00:43:46.72 Ethiopia, and these are the souls that were baptized 00:43:46.76\00:43:51.03 there. If you're watching in Ethiopia and you see yourself 00:43:51.13\00:43:54.40 there, you oughta give a shout right now how 00:43:54.50\00:43:57.70 God has done miraculous things in your life. - I see 00:43:57.80\00:43:59.90 you out in the crowd there. - Yeah, I'm right there in the 00:44:00.07\00:44:01.40 middle. [laughter] This is in Panama! Many places I 00:44:01.44\00:44:06.57 would go, when they wanted a black preacher to come along 00:44:06.68\00:44:11.85 in some places-and this was in Panama, where 00:44:11.91\00:44:15.05 Elder Faulkenberg called me up and sent me down 00:44:15.15\00:44:18.42 there to preach in that area-couldn't speak a 00:44:18.49\00:44:21.22 lick of Spanish! I knew "gloria Dios," but there, 00:44:21.32\00:44:25.79 God had showed Himself in that area there in Panama 00:44:26.56\00:44:29.70 with the baptism. Just left there in Guyana- 00:44:29.76\00:44:33.50 Linden, Guyana. Went there twice; two churches 00:44:33.60\00:44:37.11 came out of that, and this was our last time 00:44:37.27\00:44:39.47 there. We just saw these beautiful souls from revival 00:44:39.57\00:44:41.98 there in Guyana. - Mm. It's amazing what the 00:44:42.08\00:44:46.21 Lord does. He does it continuously. And when 00:44:46.31\00:44:49.05 you go back-and I wanna just say to the listening and 00:44:49.12\00:44:51.45 viewing audience-when you go back and look at how your 00:44:51.55\00:44:53.32 life begins, you could never tell what fruit 00:44:53.36\00:44:57.86 or what plant is going to come from that seed. 00:44:57.96\00:45:00.93 You could look at that mustard seed and realize 00:45:01.50\00:45:03.23 it's so tiny, but it's a symbol of that little 00:45:03.37\00:45:06.43 spark of faith; and your life has been just replete 00:45:06.50\00:45:09.14 and filled with so many stories of God moving in 00:45:09.24\00:45:13.17 providential ways. And right now, you minister; 00:45:13.27\00:45:15.74 you have a couple of CDs. Talk about that, and you 00:45:15.88\00:45:18.48 use that in the ministry there at the Florida hospital. 00:45:18.58\00:45:21.72 - Yes. I'm fortunately the head chaplain for 00:45:21.82\00:45:25.15 there at Florida Hospital Connerton, and serve also 00:45:25.25\00:45:28.09 at Florida Hospital Tampa and just ministering to many 00:45:28.19\00:45:31.49 people who are on their dying beds, are going 00:45:31.59\00:45:34.60 through life-changing scenarios through health, catastrophic 00:45:34.66\00:45:39.53 health situations... I sing to them, and it's like when 00:45:39.60\00:45:45.34 David was singing to the Lord. There's something 00:45:45.47\00:45:49.21 about music that transcends into a soul that's been ruptured, 00:45:49.31\00:45:53.21 and just hearing those songs brings them comfort, 00:45:53.31\00:45:56.58 so I put a list of songs of hymns. I call it, "Healing 00:45:56.69\00:46:00.09 Hymns," and then get it through the Adventist 00:46:00.19\00:46:03.69 Book Center. And there, I just proclaim God's Word 00:46:03.79\00:46:07.66 through music. - We could also give the website for 00:46:07.76\00:46:10.47 your ministry, Feed Our Children, and we'll give 00:46:10.57\00:46:13.74 that in just a moment. But something... There 00:46:13.77\00:46:16.00 was a tragedy that happened in Florida not too long ago... 00:46:16.10\00:46:18.61 Helena Ramsay. I know the young lady, because I was 00:46:19.94\00:46:22.91 able to interview her good friend who was a family 00:46:23.01\00:46:27.85 acquaintance. They were close friends, and she and 00:46:27.95\00:46:32.49 her friend- her friend stood by her and watched 00:46:32.59\00:46:34.92 her when the tragedy happened, and she was 00:46:35.06\00:46:38.26 shot. Talk about that. You had a chance to meet the 00:46:38.36\00:46:42.50 family members. - Yes. - And after you preached, 00:46:42.60\00:46:44.83 and it was in Tabernacle SDA Church in Miami. Talk 00:46:44.90\00:46:48.14 about that for a moment. - When the grandma came 00:46:48.20\00:46:50.27 up to me, she said, "Please pray for my family." She 00:46:50.31\00:46:52.34 said, "We had our granddaughter's funeral 00:46:52.44\00:46:55.68 the day before." And I realized that this was one 00:46:55.78\00:47:00.28 of those kids that was shot in the school there, 00:47:00.38\00:47:03.35 and in Douglas High School. And so, I was leaving, and 00:47:03.45\00:47:08.72 the Lord inspired me to go by the school that day, 00:47:08.82\00:47:11.93 'cause they were having orientation, trying to bring 00:47:12.03\00:47:13.53 them back in. And while I was there-you know, 00:47:13.56\00:47:16.33 being a chaplain-I just wanted to offer my services. 00:47:16.43\00:47:19.07 And one of the Adventists there, he is a counselor, and 00:47:19.17\00:47:23.41 so I was standing with him and just praying for 00:47:23.51\00:47:26.01 those who were there. I read something that 00:47:26.11\00:47:28.44 Danny Shelton wrote in his book about the shooting 00:47:29.48\00:47:32.78 in different schools. One thing he said was this: 00:47:32.88\00:47:36.89 "We focus on that, but it's because we're breaking 00:47:36.92\00:47:41.12 the Commandments." And I realized that all these 00:47:41.22\00:47:44.99 tragedies come from, just like Danny said- the Commandments 00:47:45.13\00:47:48.10 of God must be kept in order for His peace to come back into 00:47:48.16\00:47:52.00 our country. And so, I saw how these children were, 00:47:52.10\00:47:56.17 and many of them still are, and our schools 00:47:56.27\00:47:59.01 are being just on lockdown because the enemy is on 00:47:59.11\00:48:03.78 attack. I was instrumental in trying to bring some healing 00:48:03.88\00:48:08.52 to a lot of those that I met there, that I was 00:48:08.62\00:48:11.02 praying for them. And I found out that-"you saved 00:48:11.09\00:48:14.22 my people if we pray, He will bring healing." And so 00:48:14.32\00:48:16.96 while I was there, I saw God move through the 00:48:17.06\00:48:20.03 prayers of giving those who wanted to have some 00:48:20.13\00:48:22.60 type of way out understanding. I was able to cope with that 00:48:22.70\00:48:26.33 because of my past experience with my son. I knew what those 00:48:26.43\00:48:33.41 families were feeling, because by losing my 00:48:33.58\00:48:38.15 son and HIS death, I understood what it was 00:48:38.28\00:48:41.52 like to walk by that bedroom at night and look in that room 00:48:41.65\00:48:46.29 and looking for your child and realizing they're not 00:48:46.35\00:48:48.79 there anymore. It just grips at and tears your 00:48:48.86\00:48:53.06 heart out. But then the more it tears your heart 00:48:53.13\00:48:55.60 out, the more you lean into Christ, and He'll give 00:48:55.66\00:48:59.13 you that peace. - There's a passage you gave to me 00:48:59.20\00:49:01.80 before the program began in Lamentations 3:37. Share 00:49:01.90\00:49:04.94 that with our audience right now. Should I read 00:49:05.04\00:49:07.68 and then you want to explain that to us? 00:49:07.78\00:49:09.38 - You read it, 'cause I have my version of saying 00:49:09.44\00:49:11.45 it. - Okay. Well, use your version of saying 00:49:11.51\00:49:13.45 it. I love the way that you include that in your 00:49:13.55\00:49:15.02 life. I was reading that text in Lamentations 3:37. 00:49:15.08\00:49:18.65 It says, "Who can speak it in your life and it comes 00:49:18.75\00:49:22.89 to pass if God has not commanded it?" - Mm. 00:49:22.96\00:49:27.23 - I had to resonate with that word, because many 00:49:27.30\00:49:29.90 were speaking the can't-do and "you're not able to do," 00:49:30.07\00:49:34.24 and "you don't have enough finance to do it," and "you're 00:49:34.34\00:49:36.00 not in the right place to do it," "you don't have the 00:49:36.07\00:49:39.84 right background," and all these other things. But if 00:49:39.91\00:49:43.55 you get all those "no's from a thousand people 00:49:43.65\00:49:46.48 and you get one million "cant's from others, all 00:49:46.58\00:49:50.82 I need was one "can" from God, and that one "can" from 00:49:50.92\00:49:54.86 God... 'Cause if He had not commanded it, I don't 00:49:54.96\00:49:57.43 worry about what other people say. - That's right. 00:49:57.56\00:50:00.03 - I don't look at a budget. I can do great things on 00:50:00.13\00:50:02.36 a 0 budget. [laughter] 'Cause God can take 0 00:50:02.43\00:50:05.97 and make hero, so I'm not confined to these things 00:50:06.03\00:50:10.07 that we have, because God said, "I can handle this." 00:50:10.17\00:50:13.14 And so, that text has stayed with me. Even though I had 00:50:13.24\00:50:17.05 all these things going against me, and even life 00:50:17.15\00:50:19.48 dictated that "you shouldn't be where you are," but I 00:50:19.61\00:50:22.98 think I'm sitting here with you today-representing all 00:50:23.05\00:50:27.12 the children that could've been here, that should've 00:50:27.22\00:50:30.19 been here, and may have been here-but I hope that 00:50:30.29\00:50:34.13 from this point on, there might be somebody out 00:50:34.20\00:50:36.90 there, sitting there and you're looking at 00:50:37.00\00:50:39.13 this program, and you say, "Should I keep my 00:50:39.20\00:50:41.24 child? Is it worth it?" I want you to know that 00:50:41.30\00:50:43.97 it's worth it all. God took a nothing like me, 00:50:44.07\00:50:47.91 and He turned my life around. And I promise 00:50:47.98\00:50:51.01 you: if you put it in His hands, He'll take 00:50:51.08\00:50:53.55 your tragedy and He'll bring triumph. That's 00:50:53.65\00:50:56.72 what I want you to know today. - That's right. And 00:50:56.82\00:50:58.89 you know, what a powerful testimony-and we're JUST 00:50:58.99\00:51:01.36 getting started!
