"Military chaplaincy"

and I said, "Well,
God, I can say for sure

You have lost your mind.

I am not doing it."

Because I thought being
in the military meant that,

I would have to fight,
and I just couldn't do it,

couldn't bring myself to do it.

I said, "All my life
I've been a peacemaker.

I have jumped in
the middle of fights.

We were scheduled for surgery

out my cancer metastasized

The reason I came
