and I wanted to work

cities in California.

So she was the one
that got me contagious

weren't any hospitals

that I could deliver

but there's a runaway street kid

that is hiding
out in your house."

So I came back
with a 2 year old,

and a newborn, and met
our son, Rota and he was 7.

And as we attended a big program

of young people, GYC
there in Houston, Texas.

And we started looking around

and it just came
back so clearly to me,

God has brought the world
to the United States of America

by bringing the
least reached people

to our cities, to our towns.

And when you say
the least reached,

we're talking of people
00:10:51.91\00:10:53.25
of the Muslim faith,
the Buddhists, Hindus,
00:10:53.28\00:10:56.82
people who have been immigrating
00:10:56.85\00:11:00.76
to the United States,
00:11:00.79\00:11:02.12
yet they really don't
know anything about Jesus,
00:11:02.16\00:11:05.59
most of them, right?
00:11:05.63\00:11:07.26
It's amazing how
much that is still true,

even after being
here for 30 years.

We're meeting immigrants,

and different
people who have come

and who still have
no Christian friends,

have never been in
a Christian church.

And their people
group is one of those 4, 000

or so that we are waiting
on before Jesus can return,

according to Matthew 24:14.

You know, Scott, it
doesn't really surprise me

because I had what surprised me,
00:11:32.05\00:11:33.89
I was interviewing a
gentleman who was in San Diego,

I believe, but anyway he
was working with the gangs,
00:11:38.56\00:11:41.70
and these are kids
that of American origin,
00:11:41.73\00:11:46.17
they weren't
immigrants, and these were kids
00:11:46.20\00:11:48.40
and they're 16 to 18 years old,
who had never heard the name.

I mean, there were many
00:11:53.01\00:11:54.78
who had never
heard the name of Jesus.

And you think,
"How is that possible?"

But it is.

As you worked
for ASAP ministries,

that God has sent.

immigrants and refugees,

where you have close to
a million in North America,

who come from
Saudi Arabia, China,

different places that
they can be key leaders

if they are
reached for Christ back

in their countries.

And as we talk, we
said, "We need a training kit,

an online video
format training kit

that a church can do
anywhere so that they can learn

how to be comfortable sharing
with the Muslim, Buddhist,

anybody from a
different background.

And so that's what
ASAP helped fund along

with the North American division

so that we could
come up with that kit.

And so for the
last four or five years,

that's been used
in different churches

refugee church plants,

in Southeast Asia,

which is
primarily where ASAP works,

and began to just feel

that desire to be back
doing cross cultural missions

We began, I in particular,

And so we started praying,

next to a large city

So that's when I came down

to be part of a SEEDS
church planting conference,

I had 10 minutes to speak
at the Houston Central Church

about this mission field.

Because you see,
Houston is unique in that,

it's the most diverse
place in the United States,

the most diverse metro area,

where you have no
majority people group.

If it were its own country,

it would be the
fourth largest country

in receiving
refugees, 4,000 to 5,000

new refugees every
year come into that city.

And those are people hurting,

there are people
desperately in need of friend,

have someone to

to be a friend to them.

And so we began
praying about that,

and later an invitation

and raise the funds for

You know, I always say

the majority of our viewership

Adventist denomination.

tuning in and learning.

in that area to begin with.

The refugees who
were coming in...

Probably the Karen group.

exactly who it was.

So they opened their hearts,

they opened their arms
to receive these people,

I mean, imagine
this. You're an immigrant,

you are trying to
escape persecution.

You come to the United States,
you don't speak the language,

culture, and they reached out,

they opened up their
arms, they taught them,

you know, had English classes,

driving classes,
vocational classes,

and the beautiful thing
about this was God blessed

in such an incredible way,

because they have a
whole Burmese church now,

I mean, this group
was so big in bringing

in the immigrants that it was...

It was too big for the church

and they've
actually started their own

so they can also hear
it in their own language.

But, you know, we
have a tendency, do we not,

to think that if you're
going to be a missionary,

me to Papua New Guinea maybe,

or send me there."

When God is bringing
the world for us in many,

watching from Australia,

It's just like God is
bringing conglomeration

He wants us to be a light

And the flood was

And yes, it was coming

be the men's dorm,

the students couldn't get there.

community south of the city,
