Northern Virginia. 00:02:35.75\00:02:37.45 So about 12, 14 hours, or so? 00:02:37.49\00:02:39.25 Yes, about 12 hours. 00:02:39.29\00:02:40.72 Good to have you guys here. 00:02:40.76\00:02:42.09 Before we go to our music, 00:02:42.12\00:02:43.46 I want to get into a couple of things, 00:02:43.49\00:02:44.83 because obviously you grew up in Adventist home, 00:02:44.86\00:02:46.63 Christian home. 00:02:46.66\00:02:48.00 Were you home schooled or did you go to public school? 00:02:48.03\00:02:49.83 Home schooled. Home schooled! 00:02:49.86\00:02:51.60 Still being home schooled, I suspect. 00:02:51.63\00:02:52.97 Yes. Your mom doing the teaching. 00:02:53.00\00:02:54.60 Well, our parents... Both. 00:02:54.64\00:02:56.30 they did administrative work 00:02:56.34\00:02:57.67 with the aid of a Adventist home teacher. 00:02:57.71\00:03:00.44 Praise the Lord. 00:03:00.48\00:03:01.81 You like being home schooled? 00:03:01.84\00:03:03.18 Yes. It's really good. Yes. 00:03:03.21\00:03:05.45 It's pretty much the same as other schools 00:03:05.48\00:03:08.05 'cause we have a schedule 00:03:08.08\00:03:09.42 that we follow throughout the day, 00:03:09.45\00:03:11.22 and we have homework, I guess. 00:03:11.25\00:03:12.99 Everything's homework as we are doing it at our home. 00:03:13.02\00:03:15.92 That's all, well, that is true. 00:03:15.96\00:03:17.46 That is true. 00:03:17.49\00:03:18.99 Let me ask you this because, Ilcias, 00:03:19.03\00:03:21.76 you preach and Samuel plays, 00:03:21.80\00:03:26.80 which is a nice combination actually 00:03:26.84\00:03:28.34 when you think about it. 00:03:28.37\00:03:30.74 We were talking before about the call to ministry 00:03:30.77\00:03:34.54 and you are preaching in your local area, 00:03:34.58\00:03:36.28 you are preaching around. 00:03:36.31\00:03:37.65 When did it occur to you 00:03:37.68\00:03:39.41 that God wanted you to be a preacher? 00:03:39.45\00:03:44.22 Well, from the earliest age I can remember, 00:03:44.25\00:03:46.62 I was fascinated with, you know, sharing God's work. 00:03:46.65\00:03:49.72 As a toddler 00:03:49.76\00:03:52.23 I would, in church I would sometimes mimic the pastor, 00:03:52.26\00:03:55.66 or at home I would preach to my toys, 00:03:55.70\00:03:59.43 or draw an audience for me to preach to. 00:03:59.47\00:04:02.60 Anything I could do to preach. 00:04:02.64\00:04:04.27 So it's always been there. Yes. 00:04:04.31\00:04:05.77 And so at the age of nine, I got my first opportunity, 00:04:05.81\00:04:08.64 God provided the first opportunity. 00:04:08.68\00:04:10.58 I was member of the Adventurer Club 00:04:10.61\00:04:13.21 at Woodbridge Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:04:13.25\00:04:15.32 and I shared my desire to preach with the head elder 00:04:15.35\00:04:19.39 and he invited me to speak for Pathfinder Adventure Day, 00:04:19.42\00:04:22.76 and so that was back in 2011. 00:04:22.79\00:04:25.83 And so God has given me many more opportunities 00:04:25.86\00:04:28.63 and sent to speak for Him and it's wonderful. 00:04:28.66\00:04:30.00 Praise the Lord. 00:04:30.03\00:04:31.37 Were you ever nervous standing in the pulpit 00:04:31.40\00:04:32.73 or were you pretty comfortable? 00:04:32.77\00:04:34.10 Usually, I am nervous before. 00:04:34.14\00:04:37.64 And then as I get up to speak, you know, 00:04:37.67\00:04:40.11 that's where the Lord takes over 00:04:40.14\00:04:41.48 and, you know, it runs smoothly from there. 00:04:41.51\00:04:44.61 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:04:44.65\00:04:46.68 When did you begin playing, Samuel? 00:04:46.72\00:04:49.52 Well, we both, we both take piano lessons. 00:04:49.55\00:04:51.42 We both studied at the age of seven and eight years old. 00:04:51.45\00:04:54.39 We have been blessed with wonderful teachers 00:04:54.42\00:04:55.92 who helped us to develop our talent for, 00:04:55.96\00:04:57.86 to the glory of God. 00:04:57.89\00:04:59.29 Praise the Lord. 00:04:59.33\00:05:00.66 Do either of your parents play instruments? 00:05:00.70\00:05:02.30 No. No. 00:05:02.33\00:05:03.67 Not really. 00:05:03.70\00:05:05.03 But did they want you to play 00:05:05.07\00:05:06.40 or was something you guys desire to do on your own? 00:05:06.43\00:05:08.50 Oh, they wanted us to play. 00:05:08.54\00:05:09.87 They wanted you to play. 00:05:09.90\00:05:11.24 Yeah, mother. Yes, yes. 00:05:11.27\00:05:12.61 Our mother, you know, she had seen her mother, 00:05:12.64\00:05:15.84 you know, sing for my dad's, 00:05:15.88\00:05:17.58 my grandfather's evangelistic meetings 00:05:17.61\00:05:19.71 and I think that my grandfather was a pastor in Jamaica, 00:05:19.75\00:05:22.55 Pastor W.H. Decanter. 00:05:22.58\00:05:24.42 And my grandmother would sing for his meetings 00:05:24.45\00:05:26.99 and my mother would witness the power of God through music, 00:05:27.02\00:05:31.33 and so she always desire that her children 00:05:31.36\00:05:34.16 would learn to play music 00:05:34.20\00:05:35.76 and use music to the glory of God, 00:05:35.80\00:05:38.03 and so she make sure we got piano lessons. 00:05:38.07\00:05:41.20 Let me ask you a question 00:05:41.24\00:05:42.57 which may be a bit embarrassing. 00:05:42.60\00:05:43.94 Because my parents wanted me to play violin 00:05:43.97\00:05:47.21 and I frankly hated the violin 00:05:47.24\00:05:50.71 and I would not practice, and so they said, 00:05:50.75\00:05:52.41 "Well, if you are not going to practice 00:05:52.45\00:05:53.78 and we're not gonna waste our money." 00:05:53.82\00:05:55.68 Did you have to be encouraged to play 00:05:55.72\00:05:58.35 or to practice or what some of your thoughts? 00:05:58.39\00:06:00.46 Definitely, I think, that is the thing, yes. 00:06:00.49\00:06:02.39 That's the way it usually is. 00:06:02.42\00:06:03.76 We are watching the clock for half an hour... 00:06:03.79\00:06:05.13 Yeah, yeah, yeah. When is practice over. 00:06:05.16\00:06:06.49 Yeah. That's, usually the way it is. 00:06:06.53\00:06:07.86 It's funny because you don't really 00:06:07.90\00:06:09.36 respect the time your parents put in, 00:06:09.40\00:06:12.77 I don't want to say forcing, encouraging you to play, 00:06:12.80\00:06:15.40 till you get older and look back, 00:06:15.44\00:06:17.14 and then you kind of glad they did. 00:06:17.17\00:06:18.87 And now I regret it that my mom didn't kind of push me to do so 00:06:18.91\00:06:22.58 but she just said, 00:06:22.61\00:06:23.95 "Well, if you don't want to practice, 00:06:23.98\00:06:25.31 I am not going to waste my money." 00:06:25.35\00:06:26.68 But as you get older and get some perspective, 00:06:26.72\00:06:28.28 you realize that's a good discipline to have, 00:06:28.32\00:06:30.99 and it really does add to your life. 00:06:31.02\00:06:33.05 Yes. Yeah. 00:06:33.09\00:06:35.26 It is one thing, 00:06:35.29\00:06:36.83 and I want to go to music in a minute 00:06:36.86\00:06:38.19 but I want to just get this question out. 00:06:38.23\00:06:40.10 It is one thing to grow up in an Adventist home 00:06:40.13\00:06:44.50 surrounded by Adventist parents and siblings, 00:06:44.53\00:06:47.94 it is another thing altogether 00:06:47.97\00:06:51.57 to know Jesus for yourself, 00:06:51.61\00:06:54.28 and I want you both to sort of wrestle with this 00:06:54.31\00:06:55.84 and answer this question for me. 00:06:55.88\00:06:58.38 At what point in your lives 00:06:58.41\00:07:02.35 did the idea of one-on-one 00:07:02.38\00:07:05.72 surrender relationship to Jesus occur to you? 00:07:05.75\00:07:08.82 At what age, how old, 00:07:08.86\00:07:10.76 or was it a sudden kind of thing? 00:07:10.79\00:07:12.33 Did it kind of ease its way into your consciousness? 00:07:12.36\00:07:15.36 How did that relationship first of all occurred to you 00:07:15.40\00:07:18.73 and then develop in your life? 00:07:18.77\00:07:20.64 I guess, Ilcias, we can start with you. 00:07:20.67\00:07:22.10 All right. 00:07:22.14\00:07:24.01 Like you mentioned it gradual, you know, my parents, you know, 00:07:24.04\00:07:28.08 taught me about God 00:07:28.11\00:07:30.88 and that He had a special plan for my life. 00:07:30.91\00:07:33.05 But it wasn't really till like the age of nine 00:07:33.08\00:07:35.68 that I kind of realized, you know, 00:07:35.72\00:07:37.19 I can't depend on my parents to go to heaven, 00:07:37.22\00:07:39.85 it has to be done through Jesus 00:07:39.89\00:07:41.22 so personal relationship with Jesus. 00:07:41.26\00:07:43.36 Yeah. 00:07:43.39\00:07:44.73 And so it was at the age of nine 00:07:44.76\00:07:46.76 really where I committed my life to Christ 00:07:46.80\00:07:49.56 and said, "Lord, you have your way in my life." 00:07:49.60\00:07:53.34 As I grow older, of course, I began to learn more about, 00:07:53.37\00:07:55.80 you know, developing a relationship with Christ 00:07:55.84\00:07:58.31 and I became more intentional about that relationship. 00:07:58.34\00:08:03.51 In 2015, 00:08:03.55\00:08:05.35 I believe, I began a Bible reading program, 00:08:05.38\00:08:07.48 took me through an entire year. 00:08:07.52\00:08:09.18 And I know it's powerful because, you know, 00:08:09.22\00:08:11.95 as I began in the earlier on in the year, 00:08:11.99\00:08:14.09 I'd just be reading the Bible. 00:08:14.12\00:08:15.46 Yes. 00:08:15.49\00:08:16.83 But then, you know, I knew the principle 00:08:16.86\00:08:18.49 'pray before you read', 00:08:18.53\00:08:19.96 and so I would pray reading the Bible 00:08:20.00\00:08:21.36 and then as the years passed on I would think, you know, 00:08:21.40\00:08:25.90 "Well, I pray before I read the Bible. 00:08:25.93\00:08:27.50 Why not just take some time to talk to God about the day 00:08:27.54\00:08:31.74 and the challenges or trials 00:08:31.77\00:08:33.31 that may be coming up during the day." 00:08:33.34\00:08:35.11 And so that really established my prayer life. 00:08:35.14\00:08:38.31 And so it's been a wonderful experience, 00:08:38.35\00:08:40.35 a wonderful relationship with God 00:08:40.38\00:08:41.72 that's grown throughout the years. 00:08:41.75\00:08:44.49 Samuel, same question. 00:08:44.52\00:08:45.85 Your relationship, kind of a sudden thing, 00:08:45.89\00:08:48.69 something that grew on you, about what age were you 00:08:48.72\00:08:50.73 when you kind of locked one-on-one with Christ? 00:08:50.76\00:08:53.26 Like when he said, 00:08:53.29\00:08:54.86 it was about the age of eight or nine years old 00:08:54.90\00:08:57.03 when I actually realized that I can't get to heaven 00:08:57.07\00:09:00.00 based on what my parents have done. 00:09:00.04\00:09:01.57 I have to make a personal decision. 00:09:01.60\00:09:03.20 I have to have a one-on-one relationship with Christ. 00:09:03.24\00:09:06.57 And since then, it's kind of been 00:09:06.61\00:09:07.98 a gradual growth experience. 00:09:08.01\00:09:09.88 I have grown closer to Him. 00:09:09.91\00:09:12.11 I have known to depend on Him for things, 00:09:12.15\00:09:14.78 for different things, 00:09:14.82\00:09:16.15 and to trust Him in challenging circumstances, 00:09:16.18\00:09:19.19 and even in simple things like school, 00:09:19.22\00:09:21.89 praying before a test, 00:09:21.92\00:09:24.03 asking Him to help me 00:09:24.06\00:09:26.53 to remember the things I have learned and studied. 00:09:26.56\00:09:28.46 Praise the Lord. 00:09:28.50\00:09:29.83 Let me congratulate and encourage you both 00:09:29.86\00:09:32.30 because age nine, 00:09:32.33\00:09:34.10 that's a fairly mature thought for a nine year old. 00:09:34.14\00:09:38.17 I actually joined the church at age nine too 00:09:38.21\00:09:40.58 but I had no Adventist in my family. 00:09:40.61\00:09:42.91 Mine was a little more sudden, I would go to church 00:09:42.94\00:09:45.08 and with the people across the street, 00:09:45.11\00:09:47.62 and my mother let me go, she didn't want to go 00:09:47.65\00:09:50.65 or neither my dad but I like to go on Sabbath. 00:09:50.69\00:09:53.79 And one day there's pastor's preaching, 00:09:53.82\00:09:55.86 and he made a call and I saw myself walking down, 00:09:55.89\00:09:58.19 I am like, "Why am I walking down? 00:09:58.23\00:10:00.43 But I did. 00:10:00.46\00:10:02.16 And, of course, I have ever looked back. 00:10:02.20\00:10:05.30 But the notion, the idea, 00:10:05.33\00:10:07.44 that I'm going to have to develop 00:10:07.47\00:10:08.80 a relationship for myself 00:10:08.84\00:10:10.21 and not lean on my mom or my dad, 00:10:10.24\00:10:12.44 it's fairly sophisticated to thinking for a nine year old, 00:10:12.47\00:10:14.84 but that occurred to both of you that 00:10:14.88\00:10:16.21 this is going to, has to be one-on-one. 00:10:16.24\00:10:17.85 Yes. Praise the Lord. 00:10:17.88\00:10:19.35 Praise the Lord. 00:10:19.38\00:10:20.72 At what age did you get baptized, Ilcias? 00:10:20.75\00:10:22.92 Let's see, it was at the age of 11. 00:10:22.95\00:10:29.06 Eleven. Eleven. 00:10:29.09\00:10:30.43 2013. Samuel? 00:10:30.46\00:10:31.79 Age of ten. We were baptized on the same day. 00:10:31.83\00:10:33.63 Oh! Okay. Okay. 00:10:33.66\00:10:35.43 We studied together. 00:10:35.46\00:10:37.17 We took Bible studies together 00:10:37.20\00:10:38.57 and then we are baptized together. 00:10:38.60\00:10:39.97 Praise the Lord. 00:10:40.00\00:10:41.34 My grandfather was actually there at our baptism. 00:10:41.37\00:10:43.51 That must have been nice. 00:10:43.54\00:10:44.87 Yeah. Yeah. 00:10:44.91\00:10:46.24 See I baptized my parents. 00:10:46.27\00:10:47.61 I baptized my mom, I baptized my dad, 00:10:47.64\00:10:48.98 I baptized my sister, 00:10:49.01\00:10:50.35 I was the only Adventist in my family, 00:10:50.38\00:10:51.71 so ours is a little bit reverse. 00:10:51.75\00:10:53.21 And back then when we were studying, 00:10:53.25\00:10:55.75 they kept you in baptismal class for six months. 00:10:55.78\00:10:57.72 Wow! 00:10:57.75\00:11:00.06 They want to make sure that your roots went deep, you know, 00:11:00.09\00:11:02.12 no quickie stuff, it's six months though. 00:11:02.16\00:11:04.43 The kept you in a long time. 00:11:04.46\00:11:06.13 But once you made that decision, any regrets? 00:11:06.16\00:11:09.63 No. No regrets. 00:11:09.66\00:11:11.00 Well said. I got you. 00:11:11.03\00:11:12.37 Jesus says, "No regrets." 00:11:12.40\00:11:14.44 So you haven't looked back? No. 00:11:14.47\00:11:16.17 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:11:16.20\00:11:17.74 Praise the Lord. I am happy with that. 00:11:17.77\00:11:19.11 I want to go to the music, then I want to get back 00:11:19.14\00:11:20.68 and talk a little bit more about the ministry, the name, 00:11:20.71\00:11:24.18 and what it seeks to do, 00:11:24.21\00:11:25.55 and what you guys are seeking to do for the Lord. 00:11:25.58\00:11:28.38 Our music today is coming from just a great pianist, 00:11:28.42\00:11:31.82 a great friend of this ministry, 00:11:31.85\00:11:33.56 one of Nashville's finest, 00:11:33.59\00:11:36.26 we all know and love Tim Parton 00:11:36.29\00:11:38.99 who is a favorite friend around here, 00:11:39.03\00:11:41.93 Emmy nominated guy, one of the... 00:11:41.96\00:11:44.67 considered one of the better pianists in America. 00:11:44.70\00:11:47.77 Just a wonderful person but also a wonderful Christian 00:11:47.80\00:11:50.44 who God has given a really wonderful and special gift, 00:11:50.47\00:11:55.01 and what he is going to be playing for us today is 00:11:55.04\00:11:56.88 "Wonderful Grace of Jesus". 00:11:56.91\00:11:59.08 Well done, Tim Parton, "Wonderful Grace of Jesus", 00:15:17.55\00:15:20.32 great friend of this ministry and great personal friend, 00:15:20.35\00:15:22.68 and we love Tim around here. 00:15:22.72\00:15:24.35 My guests are Ilcias and Samuel Vargas, 00:15:24.39\00:15:27.96 they of Shining Light Ministry. 00:15:27.99\00:15:30.93 And we talked about this before we came on air, 00:15:30.96\00:15:32.83 where did that name came from? 00:15:32.86\00:15:34.80 It came from the verses, well, several verses in the Bible. 00:15:34.83\00:15:37.80 But primarily, Proverbs 4:18, which says, 00:15:37.83\00:15:41.27 "The path of the just is as a shining light 00:15:41.30\00:15:43.41 which shines more and more unto the perfect day." 00:15:43.44\00:15:45.01 Talking about the progression of truth. 00:15:45.04\00:15:46.37 Yes. 00:15:46.41\00:15:47.74 And then in Matthew chapter 5, I believe verse 18, 00:15:47.78\00:15:49.94 where Jesus says, 00:15:49.98\00:15:51.31 "Let your light so shine before men." 00:15:51.35\00:15:53.18 So as one verse talks about the truth of God 00:15:53.21\00:15:55.72 where as the other one talks about 00:15:55.75\00:15:57.49 how Christians are to reflect that truth in their lives. 00:15:57.52\00:16:01.22 Sure. Very admirable title. 00:16:01.26\00:16:02.59 Let me ask you this, guys because you are young, 00:16:02.62\00:16:05.66 young men, 15, 16, 14, 15, 00:16:05.69\00:16:08.26 I don't remember, 15, 16, 14, 15? 00:16:08.30\00:16:10.73 15, 16. 15, 16. 00:16:10.77\00:16:12.93 Okay, 15, 16. 00:16:12.97\00:16:14.40 So young mid-teens, 00:16:14.44\00:16:16.20 you could be out playing basketball, 00:16:16.24\00:16:17.61 running around doing stuff. 00:16:17.64\00:16:19.77 Do you put in Bible study time every day? 00:16:19.81\00:16:22.21 Yes. It's a priority. 00:16:22.24\00:16:24.18 It's a priority. Yes. 00:16:24.21\00:16:25.55 So it's nothing your parents have to force you to do. 00:16:25.58\00:16:27.25 No. Praise the Lord. 00:16:27.28\00:16:28.85 We make a decision to get up every morning 00:16:28.88\00:16:30.39 and spend some time in the study of God's Word. 00:16:30.42\00:16:32.15 So you do it every morning? Every morning. 00:16:32.19\00:16:33.79 First thing? Yes. 00:16:33.82\00:16:35.16 Both of you? Yes. 00:16:35.19\00:16:36.52 Praise the Lord. 00:16:36.56\00:16:38.59 For young people, 00:16:38.63\00:16:40.76 that's commendable 00:16:40.80\00:16:42.16 that you are putting God first, 00:16:42.20\00:16:43.93 because if you are seeking to do things for the Lord, 00:16:43.97\00:16:45.47 you need the power of God in your life. 00:16:45.50\00:16:47.60 So it's not something you have to be forced to do 00:16:47.64\00:16:49.20 like piano practice. 00:16:49.24\00:16:50.64 This is something you want to do, right? 00:16:50.67\00:16:52.01 Yes, and by the way, piano practice 00:16:52.04\00:16:53.51 is no longer forced anymore. 00:16:53.54\00:16:54.88 Praise the Lord. 00:16:54.91\00:16:56.24 It's progressed. I am so glad to hear that. 00:16:56.28\00:16:59.21 But this is a natural part of your daily routine. 00:16:59.25\00:17:01.45 Yes. 00:17:01.48\00:17:02.88 On those days when you may get a little rushed 00:17:02.92\00:17:05.25 and things get a little hectic, 00:17:05.29\00:17:07.12 can you feel the lack of Bible study 00:17:07.16\00:17:09.52 and the affect it has on your life? 00:17:09.56\00:17:10.99 Definitely. Yeah. Yeah. 00:17:11.03\00:17:12.63 So you know it's something that you need to do 00:17:12.66\00:17:14.86 and that's the integral part 00:17:14.90\00:17:16.97 of your existence with the Lord. 00:17:17.00\00:17:18.93 Yes, definitely. 00:17:18.97\00:17:21.00 Yeah, it's like eating is necessary for life, 00:17:21.04\00:17:24.57 studying God's Word and spending, 00:17:24.61\00:17:26.21 well, not just studying God's Word 00:17:26.24\00:17:28.04 but also praying to Him, it's a two way connection. 00:17:28.08\00:17:31.51 Spending time in Bible study and prayers is very important 00:17:31.55\00:17:34.05 in the Christian life. 00:17:34.08\00:17:35.42 And I believe it's very important 00:17:35.45\00:17:36.85 especially in our younger years 00:17:36.89\00:17:40.32 as my brother and I are teenagers, 00:17:40.36\00:17:43.06 it really helps to set the right perspective for life. 00:17:43.09\00:17:48.46 So I suspect you have been serving the Lord 00:17:48.50\00:17:52.03 really since you came out of your 00:17:52.07\00:17:54.07 single digits into your teen years. 00:17:54.10\00:17:57.91 Do you guys still get tempted or you have you pretty much 00:17:57.94\00:18:01.94 gotten over some of that wilderness stuff 00:18:01.98\00:18:03.95 that kids go through in their mid-teens? 00:18:03.98\00:18:07.18 I would say there are still quite a few temptations 00:18:07.22\00:18:09.62 out there that kind of attempt to draw us away 00:18:09.65\00:18:14.49 but when our connection is strong with the Lord, 00:18:14.52\00:18:18.63 doesn't matter at all. 00:18:18.66\00:18:20.06 Yes, that's why again back to that connection with God, 00:18:20.10\00:18:22.86 that will keep you. 00:18:22.90\00:18:25.87 I think, was it David in Psalm 119 who said, 00:18:25.90\00:18:29.47 "How can a young man keep his way pure 00:18:29.50\00:18:32.07 is by taking heed according to the word." 00:18:32.11\00:18:35.91 You know, I certainly wouldn't mind 00:18:35.94\00:18:37.98 losing a few years and be a little younger, 00:18:38.01\00:18:39.88 but I don't know if I want to be a teen again. 00:18:39.91\00:18:41.42 I have such great respect for young people 00:18:41.45\00:18:43.85 who have locked on to the Lord as you two appear to have done. 00:18:43.89\00:18:48.96 It is one thing to grow up in Adventist home, 00:18:48.99\00:18:54.43 it is another thing even to be part of a church family, 00:18:54.46\00:18:58.83 but it's a different thing to stand up 00:18:58.87\00:19:02.07 and want to speak for the Lord 00:19:02.10\00:19:04.17 because one, you have the responsibility 00:19:04.21\00:19:06.17 of being an example 00:19:06.21\00:19:07.88 so that your words are matched by your deeds, 00:19:07.91\00:19:10.75 you had that pressure. 00:19:10.78\00:19:12.68 And also the fact that when you stand up for the Lord, 00:19:12.71\00:19:15.42 you develop one consistent, persistent enemy who is Satan. 00:19:15.45\00:19:18.82 Definitely. Now Praise the Lord. 00:19:18.85\00:19:20.19 "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in world," 00:19:20.22\00:19:22.12 but as young people you must know 00:19:22.16\00:19:24.53 you are on the firing line of the enemy. 00:19:24.56\00:19:27.46 Yes. 00:19:27.50\00:19:28.83 And that's something we have to constantly remember. 00:19:28.86\00:19:30.20 Yes. 00:19:30.23\00:19:31.57 As we minister for God, we have to realize 00:19:31.60\00:19:33.67 we have to be continually on our guard. 00:19:33.70\00:19:35.87 We may be raised in a Christian home, 00:19:35.90\00:19:37.91 we may be surrounded by Christian influences 00:19:37.94\00:19:40.14 but there are still 00:19:40.18\00:19:42.38 the attempts of the enemy to draw us away. 00:19:42.41\00:19:44.85 Satan try to draw us away through pride and selfishness 00:19:44.88\00:19:47.82 and need to be on guard continually. 00:19:47.85\00:19:50.45 Did the idea for Shining Light Ministry, 00:19:50.49\00:19:52.25 was that a corporate idea 00:19:52.29\00:19:53.62 or did one of you come up with it? 00:19:53.66\00:19:55.32 How did that sort of developed? 00:19:55.36\00:19:56.96 Well, it sort of developed gradually. 00:19:56.99\00:19:59.86 It was mainly his idea 00:19:59.89\00:20:01.40 but we kind of planned together 00:20:01.43\00:20:04.03 on how we have to structure this, 00:20:04.07\00:20:07.04 and even at this point 00:20:07.07\00:20:08.70 we haven't really gotten like big. 00:20:08.74\00:20:11.44 Yeah, like a structured organization. 00:20:11.47\00:20:13.48 But it's really the spontaneous overflow 00:20:13.51\00:20:20.08 of our Christian experience. 00:20:20.12\00:20:23.35 But really our involvement in ministry for the Lord 00:20:23.39\00:20:25.92 began before the development 00:20:25.95\00:20:27.29 of Shining Light Media Ministry. 00:20:27.32\00:20:28.76 I would, to put a date 00:20:28.79\00:20:30.13 on the beginning of the ministry, 00:20:30.16\00:20:31.49 I would say 2012. 00:20:31.53\00:20:33.80 But from 2011, you know, 00:20:33.83\00:20:36.97 2011 was so when I preached my first sermon, 00:20:37.00\00:20:39.53 and my dad used the video or cam recorder 00:20:39.57\00:20:42.67 to record the sermon on video. 00:20:42.70\00:20:44.67 And so he burned it to a DVD, shared it with friends, 00:20:44.71\00:20:47.11 he uploaded to the web, shared it on the web, 00:20:47.14\00:20:49.91 and so I like to think of that 00:20:49.94\00:20:51.41 as a beginning of our media ministry, 00:20:51.45\00:20:53.75 the media aspect of our ministry. 00:20:53.78\00:20:55.32 But as we grew older 00:20:55.35\00:20:58.59 and as we continue to develop our talents for God, 00:20:58.62\00:21:02.62 we had been invited to ministry of different churches, 00:21:02.66\00:21:05.96 either to do special music or to, or for me to speak, 00:21:05.99\00:21:10.23 and my dad would record them on video 00:21:10.27\00:21:11.93 and shared them via DVD and the web. 00:21:11.97\00:21:14.47 And so that gave him our messages in music 00:21:14.50\00:21:16.77 even greater reach than before 'cause, you know, 00:21:16.81\00:21:19.71 one special music or sermon can be done in one church. 00:21:19.74\00:21:22.54 Yes. 00:21:22.58\00:21:23.91 But once shared on the web, it can have a greater reach. 00:21:23.95\00:21:26.61 Very much so. 00:21:26.65\00:21:27.98 We talked about, if you remember 00:21:28.02\00:21:29.92 your very first sermon, 00:21:29.95\00:21:31.92 do you remember what kind of response 00:21:31.95\00:21:33.46 the audience had to... 00:21:33.49\00:21:35.46 the congregation had to your speaking? 00:21:35.49\00:21:38.53 They certainly said that they were blessed. 00:21:38.56\00:21:40.46 Oh, praise the Lord. 00:21:40.50\00:21:41.83 And especially to see a young person 00:21:41.86\00:21:43.23 willing to share God's Word. 00:21:43.26\00:21:45.37 And so... 00:21:45.40\00:21:46.80 Yeah, it was really blessing and, you know, 00:21:46.84\00:21:49.04 I find myself amazed every time, 00:21:49.07\00:21:50.97 it never grows old. 00:21:51.01\00:21:52.77 We are sharing God's Word 00:21:52.81\00:21:54.14 and the response people afterwards, 00:21:54.18\00:21:56.18 you know, it's almost as if there is a little voice 00:21:56.21\00:21:59.15 in the back of my mind, "I got to do this again." 00:21:59.18\00:22:01.52 Got to do this again. 00:22:01.55\00:22:02.88 It's very addictive, it really is. 00:22:02.92\00:22:04.25 Yeah, it is, it is. 00:22:04.29\00:22:05.62 Do you recall the first time, and maybe in your first sermon, 00:22:05.65\00:22:08.96 when you had someone respond to your appeal? 00:22:08.99\00:22:14.20 Not necessarily my first time, and that was more like a charge 00:22:14.23\00:22:18.03 because it was Pathfinder Adventure day. 00:22:18.07\00:22:20.14 But the Lord has been, you know, 00:22:20.17\00:22:24.81 in different, in different, 00:22:24.84\00:22:28.24 in different lines of ministry 00:22:28.28\00:22:31.31 there is progress in development. 00:22:31.35\00:22:32.81 Oh, yes! 00:22:32.85\00:22:34.18 And so, you know, as we have been, 00:22:34.22\00:22:36.48 you know, we take music lessons 00:22:36.52\00:22:37.95 and we've grown nice skills on the piano 00:22:37.99\00:22:40.16 and so the same thing I believe happens by preaching 00:22:40.19\00:22:42.62 because, you know, 00:22:42.66\00:22:44.53 over the past few months and years, 00:22:44.56\00:22:46.39 God has been teaching me how to make appeals. 00:22:46.43\00:22:48.76 You know, for the first few years 00:22:48.80\00:22:50.13 I kind of shied away from that, 00:22:50.17\00:22:51.50 like, I don't want to, you know, press too far. 00:22:51.53\00:22:54.14 But especially these past few months, 00:22:54.17\00:22:59.37 God has been working very powerfully. 00:22:59.41\00:23:02.28 At church, we've been starting to go through, 00:23:02.31\00:23:04.58 you know, some of the basic Adventist doctrines. 00:23:04.61\00:23:06.82 And they preach on Daniel 2, and made an appeal, 00:23:06.85\00:23:09.62 my brother provides the music for the appeal, 00:23:09.65\00:23:12.19 and so it's very powerful, 00:23:12.22\00:23:14.06 that one was more of a prayer appeal. 00:23:14.09\00:23:15.96 But it was amazing, people said, you know, 00:23:15.99\00:23:18.83 they understood things as never before 00:23:18.86\00:23:21.20 and understood the seriousness of the times in which we live. 00:23:21.23\00:23:24.67 At a different church in Arlington a few weeks ago, 00:23:24.70\00:23:28.37 I didn't even know I had to make an appeal, 00:23:28.40\00:23:30.31 but they asked me, 00:23:30.34\00:23:32.04 "Can you make an appeal at the end of the message?" 00:23:32.07\00:23:34.18 And so relying on the Lord's Spirit 00:23:34.21\00:23:35.84 and the power that he gives us, 00:23:35.88\00:23:38.51 I made the appeal, 00:23:38.55\00:23:40.12 and afterwards the Pathfinder coordinator said, 00:23:40.15\00:23:43.18 "You know, both members and nonmembers 00:23:43.22\00:23:46.05 responded very positively to your speech." 00:23:46.09\00:23:47.82 Amen. Amen! So praise the Lord 00:23:47.86\00:23:49.19 for what He has been working through me. 00:23:49.22\00:23:50.56 Yeah, yeah. 00:23:50.59\00:23:51.93 Have you found that calling people to Jesus 00:23:51.96\00:23:53.90 is an addictive thing? 00:23:53.93\00:23:55.40 Yes, it is addictive. It is addictive. 00:23:55.43\00:23:58.73 It's very addictive. 00:23:58.77\00:24:00.10 Have you done any evangelism yet? 00:24:00.14\00:24:01.67 Well, that kind of ties into the reformation project 00:24:01.70\00:24:05.04 that we worked on in 2017. 00:24:05.07\00:24:08.04 In 2017, well, let me backtrack to 2016 00:24:08.08\00:24:12.65 because in October of that year we realized, 00:24:12.68\00:24:15.98 you know, the upcoming year, 00:24:16.02\00:24:17.85 it's the Protestant Reformation, 00:24:17.89\00:24:19.22 500 year anniversary. 00:24:19.25\00:24:22.06 But we didn't really think about it that much until 00:24:22.09\00:24:25.19 probably the summer of 2017, 00:24:25.23\00:24:27.53 and the Lord impressed us with the idea 00:24:27.56\00:24:29.03 that this would be 00:24:29.06\00:24:30.40 a powerful ministry opportunity. 00:24:30.43\00:24:32.33 And so we put together a video, a ten minute video, 00:24:32.37\00:24:35.94 short documentary video 00:24:35.97\00:24:38.37 about the historical and spiritual significance 00:24:38.41\00:24:40.54 of the Protestant Reformation, 00:24:40.58\00:24:42.54 and we shared it on YouTube, and we used that to promote 00:24:42.58\00:24:46.61 a weekend long series at our church 00:24:46.65\00:24:49.88 about the Protestant Reformation series 00:24:49.92\00:24:51.65 which I preached. 00:24:51.69\00:24:53.05 And so, I like to think of that as, you know, 00:24:53.09\00:24:55.52 one of my first experiences, 00:24:55.56\00:24:56.89 our first experiences in evangelism, 00:24:56.93\00:24:58.99 and, you know, I definitely want to do 00:24:59.03\00:25:00.93 evangelism in the future. 00:25:00.96\00:25:03.20 In fact, that's the line of ministry 00:25:03.23\00:25:04.80 I believe God's calling me into, evangelism. 00:25:04.83\00:25:07.17 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:25:07.20\00:25:09.00 Samuel, you, of course, 00:25:09.04\00:25:10.54 play for your brother and play along with him. 00:25:10.57\00:25:13.24 The idea of preaching never occurred to you. 00:25:13.27\00:25:17.58 Not really. 00:25:17.61\00:25:20.52 God calls His servants 00:25:20.55\00:25:22.98 to do the work in different capacities, 00:25:23.02\00:25:25.85 and I feel that preaching is just not my thing. 00:25:25.89\00:25:29.92 I don't feel I can get up in front of a crowd of people 00:25:29.96\00:25:32.23 and share the Word of God. 00:25:32.26\00:25:33.83 If He tells me later on that I'm supposed to do that, 00:25:33.86\00:25:36.67 I'll do it. 00:25:36.70\00:25:38.03 Yes. 00:25:38.07\00:25:39.40 But at this point in my life I don't feel, 00:25:39.43\00:25:40.77 I don't feel that quite yet. 00:25:40.80\00:25:42.14 But especially during appeals, he is very helpful 00:25:42.17\00:25:43.94 because for a pianist 00:25:43.97\00:25:46.44 to read notes from a book is one thing... 00:25:46.47\00:25:49.21 Yes. 00:25:49.24\00:25:50.58 But at first pianist to keep on going 00:25:50.61\00:25:52.41 and looping during the appeal 00:25:52.45\00:25:55.15 that sometimes I go a bit longer than 00:25:55.18\00:25:56.65 he expects me to. 00:25:56.69\00:25:58.25 And sometimes I ask the congregation to sing along 00:25:58.29\00:26:00.82 and he doesn't expect to have to play 00:26:00.86\00:26:02.19 for the congregation, so. 00:26:02.22\00:26:03.66 He is tricky. 00:26:03.69\00:26:06.16 So you've kind of developed a rhythm with each other 00:26:06.19\00:26:08.16 as far as knowing what the other person wants 00:26:08.20\00:26:09.56 what the other person expects. 00:26:09.60\00:26:10.93 Yes. Yeah, yeah. 00:26:10.97\00:26:12.30 I think of it like the Wesley brothers, you know, 00:26:12.33\00:26:13.67 there was John Wesley, the preaching, 00:26:13.70\00:26:15.20 and Charles with the music. 00:26:15.24\00:26:17.97 That's really great. 00:26:18.01\00:26:19.34 I will tell you a secret, I did a week of prayer 00:26:19.37\00:26:20.88 right after I came out of college. 00:26:20.91\00:26:22.44 My mother was a Methodist 00:26:22.48\00:26:23.81 and I knew she was ready 00:26:23.85\00:26:25.18 to come to the Lord because she... 00:26:25.21\00:26:26.82 As I would make an appeal every night, 00:26:26.85\00:26:29.38 she would cry and kind of rock in a pew, you know. 00:26:29.42\00:26:32.65 And I knew it was Friday night, 00:26:32.69\00:26:34.02 I was getting down to my last night 00:26:34.06\00:26:35.72 and I was going to preach Sabbath, it would be done. 00:26:35.76\00:26:37.49 And she was crying and then rocking and crying, 00:26:37.53\00:26:40.33 and I took her to the cross 00:26:40.36\00:26:41.70 and I talked about the coming of the Lord, 00:26:41.73\00:26:43.06 I talked about burning in hell, you know, 00:26:43.10\00:26:44.63 everything and she wouldn't get out of her seat, 00:26:44.67\00:26:46.37 I appealed almost 40 minutes. 00:26:46.40\00:26:48.47 Wow! 00:26:48.50\00:26:49.84 I said, "Lord, she's going to get out of that seat tonight." 00:26:49.87\00:26:52.37 And the pianist played and played and played 00:26:52.41\00:26:56.34 and after about 40 minutes up she stood, you know, 00:26:56.38\00:26:59.91 she became a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:26:59.95\00:27:01.28 baptized her myself 00:27:01.32\00:27:02.65 and she never regretted joining the church, 00:27:02.68\00:27:04.02 loved it to the day she died just several years ago. 00:27:04.05\00:27:07.19 Praise the Lord. 00:27:07.22\00:27:08.56 So I know how important is to have a pianist 00:27:08.59\00:27:10.26 who can kind of stick with you, you know. 00:27:10.29\00:27:11.96 Yes, definitely. 00:27:11.99\00:27:14.66 Rather than doing it just from notes 00:27:14.70\00:27:16.03 who can just kind of play and stay 00:27:16.06\00:27:17.40 and stay and stay with you. 00:27:17.43\00:27:21.00 There are other young people who have begun to buy 00:27:21.04\00:27:23.47 into your ministry, you are getting some help 00:27:23.51\00:27:25.07 because you're talking about this, 00:27:25.11\00:27:26.44 producing this documentary, 00:27:26.47\00:27:27.91 that was not done by you per se that you were part of it, 00:27:27.94\00:27:30.71 there was some other help that you got with that, 00:27:30.75\00:27:32.21 is that not so? 00:27:32.25\00:27:33.58 Well, with the documentary video, 00:27:33.62\00:27:35.58 the two of us worked on that 00:27:35.62\00:27:36.95 but really with the development of the ministry 00:27:36.99\00:27:39.15 and the web presence that we have. 00:27:39.19\00:27:42.09 It's really, we are indebted to wonderful family 00:27:42.12\00:27:46.66 that was attending our church 00:27:46.70\00:27:48.33 when we moved to Northern Virginia in 2014. 00:27:48.36\00:27:52.40 We attended Leesburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 00:27:52.43\00:27:54.70 and the family we met there on the first Sabbath, 00:27:54.74\00:27:57.71 the Penaranda family. 00:27:57.74\00:27:59.81 They are five of them, 00:27:59.84\00:28:01.28 the parents and the three children, 00:28:01.31\00:28:04.61 two boys and a girl. 00:28:04.65\00:28:06.38 And they're a very mission minded family 00:28:06.41\00:28:10.02 and they're really committed to God. 00:28:10.05\00:28:12.89 And in fact, the Father, Pastor Paul Penaranda, 00:28:12.92\00:28:17.23 he was the Pathfinder leader and lay pastor of the church. 00:28:17.26\00:28:21.70 And, in fact, the first Sabbath we were there, 00:28:21.73\00:28:25.03 he found out that we could play the piano, 00:28:25.07\00:28:27.24 and so he had us play special music 00:28:27.27\00:28:28.70 the following Sabbath 00:28:28.74\00:28:30.07 and really, he was instrumental in, 00:28:30.11\00:28:32.41 you know, the ministry we have, 00:28:32.44\00:28:34.28 the music ministry we have at the Leesburg Church today. 00:28:34.31\00:28:37.28 But as time progressed we formed friendships 00:28:37.31\00:28:40.18 with the children, Joshua, and Jared, and Rachel, 00:28:40.22\00:28:44.09 and especially Joshua and Jared, 00:28:44.12\00:28:45.82 we learned that we have a common interest 00:28:45.85\00:28:48.29 in video production 00:28:48.32\00:28:49.82 combined with a strong desire to share the gospel, 00:28:49.86\00:28:52.79 and so we teamed up with them. 00:28:52.83\00:28:55.66 In 2015, they helped us in creating a website 00:28:55.70\00:28:59.43 for the ministry and they can be viewed as 00:28:59.47\00:29:01.20 at ShiningLightMediaMinistry.org. 00:29:01.24\00:29:03.27 Okay, now say it again. 00:29:03.30\00:29:05.04 ShiningLightMediaMinistry. 00:29:05.07\00:29:06.91 One word. .org. Yes, one word. 00:29:06.94\00:29:08.94 ShiningLightMediaMinistry.org. 00:29:08.98\00:29:12.48 And I was slowing you down because so many of times 00:29:12.51\00:29:14.62 we hear people say, "Oh, I couldn't get it. 00:29:14.65\00:29:17.19 He went too fast" that kind of thing. 00:29:17.22\00:29:19.05 People listen, or they're running 00:29:19.09\00:29:20.42 to grab a pen or something, you know, 00:29:20.46\00:29:22.32 so we like to say it once or twice so that they get it. 00:29:22.36\00:29:25.99 So it's ShiningLightMediaMinistry.org. 00:29:26.03\00:29:29.86 Yes. Well done. Okay. 00:29:29.90\00:29:31.87 And so they helped to get the web presence started 00:29:31.90\00:29:34.90 as well as on YouTube, 00:29:34.94\00:29:36.91 they launched our YouTube channel, 00:29:36.94\00:29:38.97 and so we began uploading videos of sermons 00:29:39.01\00:29:41.18 and musical presentations. 00:29:41.21\00:29:42.78 And it's amazing, you know, 00:29:42.81\00:29:45.28 the reach we can have through the Internet. 00:29:45.31\00:29:49.12 We've looked at some of the analytics 00:29:49.15\00:29:52.02 and we've gotten views 00:29:52.05\00:29:53.39 from places like India, Pakistan, 00:29:53.42\00:29:55.76 the United Arab Emirates, Canada, 00:29:55.79\00:29:59.89 you know, South America, 00:29:59.93\00:30:01.26 and we've been amazed to see, 00:30:01.30\00:30:04.27 you know, how these, 00:30:04.30\00:30:05.63 how the Lord has taken these messages 00:30:05.67\00:30:07.14 to even greater reach than just in our home church. 00:30:07.17\00:30:11.47 Give me some sense, guys, of what kind of things 00:30:11.51\00:30:14.11 you're putting up on the internet? 00:30:14.14\00:30:17.41 Sermon titles, topics, what kinds of things you're, 00:30:17.45\00:30:19.91 you know, exposing your audience to? 00:30:19.95\00:30:22.08 Well, we just do the sermons 00:30:22.12\00:30:25.09 that he and Joshua would preach, 00:30:25.12\00:30:27.36 sermons mainly on fundamental beliefs 00:30:27.39\00:30:30.99 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:30:31.03\00:30:32.89 and then we do, 00:30:32.93\00:30:34.26 we have a wide variety of musical selections 00:30:34.30\00:30:36.83 that we and the Penaranda children 00:30:36.87\00:30:39.30 would play or sing. 00:30:39.33\00:30:41.74 And we would share these on YouTube 00:30:41.77\00:30:43.81 and even our website, 00:30:43.84\00:30:47.21 and thus we would have a greater reach 00:30:47.24\00:30:48.61 with our ministry. 00:30:48.64\00:30:50.15 Very much so. 00:30:50.18\00:30:51.51 We also run a blog on the website 00:30:51.55\00:30:52.88 and so I'm the make main contributor to the blog, 00:30:52.91\00:30:56.42 and the blog shares insights 00:30:56.45\00:30:58.12 on Christian living, or Bible topics, 00:30:58.15\00:31:01.02 or even current events 00:31:01.06\00:31:02.46 as they relate to our spiritual lives. 00:31:02.49\00:31:05.56 In these blogs, blog entries have been shared 00:31:05.59\00:31:08.00 in my church newsletter 00:31:08.03\00:31:10.07 as well as in other web pages, and so it's amazing, 00:31:10.10\00:31:12.93 you know, people have responded positively 00:31:12.97\00:31:15.84 with positive feedback. 00:31:15.87\00:31:17.21 So you're reaching out 00:31:17.24\00:31:18.57 to any number of media trying to get the message out. 00:31:18.61\00:31:21.91 Yes. Yeah. 00:31:21.94\00:31:23.28 So at this point in your ministry 00:31:23.31\00:31:24.85 you're dealing pretty much with doctrinal subjects, 00:31:24.88\00:31:27.45 or pastoral subjects, 00:31:27.48\00:31:29.25 or are you pretty much trying to lay 00:31:29.28\00:31:31.55 a doctrinal foundation for your hearers? 00:31:31.59\00:31:34.32 Well, we want to focus more on doctrine in the future, 00:31:34.36\00:31:38.69 right now we are more generic, 00:31:38.73\00:31:40.50 you know, Christian, Christian topics, Bible topics. 00:31:40.53\00:31:44.80 But the idea for this coming year 00:31:44.83\00:31:48.87 and years to come, 00:31:48.90\00:31:50.81 we're trying to create a video, series of videos, 00:31:50.84\00:31:54.34 short probably like five to seven minutes, 00:31:54.38\00:31:59.78 targeted especially towards, 00:31:59.81\00:32:01.95 you know, our age people, young people of our age 00:32:01.98\00:32:06.15 that cover the basic Adventist beliefs 00:32:06.19\00:32:09.22 in light of the great controversy. 00:32:09.26\00:32:10.59 Yes. 00:32:10.63\00:32:12.03 I believe that, you know, God has given 00:32:12.06\00:32:14.03 the Seventh-day Adventist church 00:32:14.06\00:32:15.40 a very wonderful understanding 00:32:15.43\00:32:16.87 of the great controversy message. 00:32:16.90\00:32:19.33 And our doctrines are really based 00:32:19.37\00:32:21.24 on this understanding of, 00:32:21.27\00:32:22.94 first God is love and then also the idea that 00:32:22.97\00:32:26.68 there is this great controversy taking place. 00:32:26.71\00:32:30.08 You know in the postmodern age, 00:32:30.11\00:32:35.18 the idea is not to take history as a meta narrative 00:32:35.22\00:32:39.75 but more to look at, you know, different cultures, 00:32:39.79\00:32:41.59 or different events in isolation of the others. 00:32:41.62\00:32:45.66 But as Adventist, we understand that history 00:32:45.69\00:32:48.90 is set in the context of the great controversy. 00:32:48.93\00:32:51.37 And so we have that foundation of a meta narrative 00:32:51.40\00:32:53.90 that we need to present to our viewers. 00:32:53.94\00:32:56.30 And so really the first video is going to be on, 00:32:56.34\00:32:59.67 you know, what about things that's happened 00:32:59.71\00:33:01.04 or what is really going on? 00:33:01.08\00:33:02.71 And it's laying the foundation of the meta narrative 00:33:02.74\00:33:04.85 and the great controversy theme 00:33:04.88\00:33:07.12 throughout history and throughout the Bible. 00:33:07.15\00:33:08.88 Great stuff. Great stuff. 00:33:08.92\00:33:11.35 Where is the furthest place 00:33:11.39\00:33:12.72 that you've gotten a response to someone 00:33:12.75\00:33:15.06 who are watching your material that you've uploaded? 00:33:15.09\00:33:17.43 The farthest response... 00:33:17.46\00:33:19.86 On planet earth. 00:33:19.89\00:33:21.23 Oh, farthest response on planet earth. 00:33:21.26\00:33:22.96 Well... 00:33:23.00\00:33:24.33 Hopefully it was on planet earth. 00:33:24.37\00:33:26.63 I just want to make sure we're on planet earth. 00:33:26.67\00:33:28.24 Yeah, I don't think. 00:33:28.27\00:33:29.60 I don't think people admires logging on 00:33:29.64\00:33:31.04 to social media... 00:33:31.07\00:33:33.04 No, but really we get responses from all over the place. 00:33:33.07\00:33:37.18 We got a comment on our website from Africa the other day. 00:33:37.21\00:33:43.05 We've gotten, like I said we've gotten views 00:33:43.08\00:33:45.39 to our online content from all over the world. 00:33:45.42\00:33:49.46 And so, you know, people in different continents 00:33:49.49\00:33:51.56 have been sharing that they have been blessed. 00:33:51.59\00:33:53.16 Praise the Lord. 00:33:53.19\00:33:54.53 And I asked them because I'm impressed 00:33:54.56\00:33:55.90 by, I mean, there's only 24 hours in a day, 00:33:55.93\00:33:58.10 you got to do school, 00:33:58.13\00:33:59.47 I mean, just straight school, school. 00:33:59.50\00:34:01.24 Then I know what it is to prepare sermons, 00:34:01.27\00:34:03.57 you know, that's time and work. 00:34:03.61\00:34:05.91 Then if you get any Internet response, 00:34:05.94\00:34:09.08 you may want to answer them with their questions, 00:34:09.11\00:34:11.65 if there is problems, or praying with them, 00:34:11.68\00:34:13.65 so your days must be fairly full 00:34:13.68\00:34:17.05 with activity for the Lord. 00:34:17.09\00:34:18.42 Yes. 00:34:18.45\00:34:19.79 We mostly do our work on weekends. 00:34:19.82\00:34:21.16 Yes. 00:34:21.19\00:34:22.52 But 'cause, you know, during the week like you mentioned, 00:34:22.56\00:34:24.09 we have school and we also 00:34:24.13\00:34:26.16 are actively involved in our church 00:34:26.19\00:34:28.03 so, you know, it's really busy but it's a good kind of busy. 00:34:28.06\00:34:32.13 It's a good kind of busy. 00:34:32.17\00:34:33.77 You know they say that, 00:34:33.80\00:34:35.14 "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." 00:34:35.17\00:34:36.84 Yes, indeed. 00:34:36.87\00:34:38.67 So the Lord has kept us busy for Him. 00:34:38.71\00:34:41.68 Working on music ministry at our church, media ministry, 00:34:41.71\00:34:45.65 you know, getting the church, 00:34:45.68\00:34:47.02 you know, we actually run the church website 00:34:47.05\00:34:49.38 with the live streaming and everything. 00:34:49.42\00:34:51.39 And, you know, it's really busy 00:34:51.42\00:34:56.02 but we find, we make time to work 00:34:56.06\00:34:58.49 for the Lord through this ministry, 00:34:58.53\00:35:00.30 Shining Light Media Ministry. 00:35:00.33\00:35:01.96 And especially with the Penaranda family, 00:35:02.00\00:35:05.13 they've moved to the Philippines. 00:35:05.17\00:35:06.94 They moved to the Philippines in 2016. 00:35:06.97\00:35:10.67 And so, you know, that's kind of changed the way 00:35:10.71\00:35:13.38 we work together 00:35:13.41\00:35:15.54 because of, you know, the barriers in time, 00:35:15.58\00:35:17.65 and the Internet, and distance, yes. 00:35:17.68\00:35:20.48 But the Lord is still been blessing, 00:35:20.52\00:35:21.95 they're still working for God where they are 00:35:21.98\00:35:23.92 and we're working for God where we are. 00:35:23.95\00:35:26.29 You know, we do correspondence over email 00:35:26.32\00:35:29.56 and, you know, we communicate, and make plans, and strategies, 00:35:29.59\00:35:33.29 and when they come to visit we work, 00:35:33.33\00:35:35.70 we spend a lot of time to work together 00:35:35.73\00:35:37.50 on our projects, so. 00:35:37.53\00:35:38.87 Let me ask you this 00:35:38.90\00:35:40.24 because your excitement is infectious. 00:35:40.27\00:35:44.57 Are you aware of or do 00:35:44.61\00:35:46.41 you know, excuse me, any young people 00:35:46.44\00:35:48.74 that have maybe caught the burden that you have, 00:35:48.78\00:35:51.55 and sort of got that flame 00:35:51.58\00:35:52.91 that you have that is sort of driving 00:35:52.95\00:35:54.28 at this point of your life, 00:35:54.32\00:35:55.65 has it begun to hit critical mass 00:35:55.68\00:35:57.65 and kind of spread a little bit? 00:35:57.69\00:36:00.39 Well, we are praying that the Lord will provide 00:36:00.42\00:36:02.66 more young people to assist us who are as committed as we are, 00:36:02.69\00:36:07.53 and even more to assist us in this work. 00:36:07.56\00:36:11.20 We have been teaming up with other young people 00:36:11.23\00:36:13.17 from our church to provide music ministry. 00:36:13.20\00:36:16.64 You know, we go to the nursing homes 00:36:16.67\00:36:18.01 and we, you know, provide music for the residents there. 00:36:18.04\00:36:22.11 It's been a blessing. 00:36:22.14\00:36:23.48 And so what we're really trying to do 00:36:23.51\00:36:25.01 is we are trying to train up 00:36:25.05\00:36:26.38 other young people in our church, 00:36:26.41\00:36:29.08 you know, to see things from God's perspective... 00:36:29.12\00:36:33.72 Yes. 00:36:33.76\00:36:35.09 And to have that commitment to spreading God's message. 00:36:35.12\00:36:38.09 Praise the Lord. 00:36:38.13\00:36:39.46 Have you, either of you sing 00:36:39.49\00:36:41.00 or you just piano, play the piano? 00:36:41.03\00:36:43.93 Piano for now. Piano for now. 00:36:43.97\00:36:45.57 Sometimes we will sing another day. 00:36:45.60\00:36:46.94 I got you under the nerve, I saw that laugh. 00:36:46.97\00:36:51.37 Sometimes if it really comes down to it, I'll sing. 00:36:51.41\00:36:54.11 But I've been kind of teasing him 00:36:54.14\00:36:56.61 and saying, "Hey, you should sing sometimes." 00:36:56.64\00:36:59.08 So usually, your appeals are, you making the appeal 00:36:59.11\00:37:01.75 and Samuel just playing for you. 00:37:01.78\00:37:03.12 Yes. 00:37:03.15\00:37:04.49 If you needed to, 00:37:04.52\00:37:05.85 you could play for yourself though, correct? 00:37:05.89\00:37:07.22 Yes. All right. 00:37:07.26\00:37:08.59 Who is the more, and I won't say better pianist 00:37:08.62\00:37:09.96 'cause I don't want to get into sibling rivalry, 00:37:09.99\00:37:13.09 but who is the more advanced pianist at this point? 00:37:13.13\00:37:17.10 Well, since we started at the same time, 00:37:17.13\00:37:19.13 we are pretty much at about the same level. 00:37:19.17\00:37:21.77 He says, "I am better at composing." 00:37:21.80\00:37:23.27 I say, "He is better at playing for church." 00:37:23.30\00:37:26.57 So, that kind of a... 00:37:26.61\00:37:27.94 Okay, so it's a love fest, 00:37:27.98\00:37:29.44 it's kind of a corporate things so we praise the Lord for that. 00:37:29.48\00:37:31.51 I think he has, 00:37:31.55\00:37:32.88 God blessed Samuel with a bit more creativity 00:37:32.91\00:37:34.32 when it comes to music and the chords and everything. 00:37:34.35\00:37:37.35 I play mainly for the, 00:37:37.39\00:37:38.85 you know, congregational singing 00:37:38.89\00:37:40.22 in our service. 00:37:40.26\00:37:41.59 But Samuel's been coming up with arrangements and things, 00:37:41.62\00:37:44.49 and one of my favorite... 00:37:44.53\00:37:46.73 among my favorite experiences are when he plays a piano 00:37:46.76\00:37:51.07 for special music before I preach. 00:37:51.10\00:37:53.47 You know, it really sets me 00:37:53.50\00:37:54.84 in that frame of mind in service to God. 00:37:54.87\00:37:58.17 Do you know 00:37:58.21\00:37:59.54 what your brother sort of likes, 00:37:59.57\00:38:01.01 you have an idea 00:38:01.04\00:38:02.38 the kind of things that he likes, 00:38:02.41\00:38:03.85 or you just kind of wink and pray that the Lord... 00:38:03.88\00:38:07.25 You said to correct here. 00:38:07.28\00:38:09.02 I hear it a lot of times before we go. 00:38:09.05\00:38:12.89 It doesn't happen because, you know, 00:38:12.92\00:38:14.52 we're in the same house so eventually, 00:38:14.56\00:38:16.49 he will hear when you practice. 00:38:16.52\00:38:18.29 Okay, so you're not totally surprised. 00:38:18.33\00:38:20.20 Praise the Lord. Yes, definitely. 00:38:20.23\00:38:22.43 It's great. So you try to... 00:38:22.46\00:38:23.83 You try to match your music to what the sermon, 00:38:23.87\00:38:25.87 obviously what the sermon is all about. 00:38:25.90\00:38:28.40 Yes. Yeah. Praise the Lord. 00:38:28.44\00:38:30.11 Praise the Lord. 00:38:30.14\00:38:31.81 Does any particular 00:38:31.84\00:38:35.18 presentation of yours stand out in your mind 00:38:35.21\00:38:37.68 when you were particularly used by the Lord? 00:38:37.71\00:38:39.98 Is there any sort of particular blessing 00:38:40.02\00:38:42.95 that you can recount or recall of a time 00:38:42.98\00:38:45.49 when you stepped in the desk 00:38:45.52\00:38:47.19 and the Lord used in a mighty way, 00:38:47.22\00:38:48.72 or some life was changed, 00:38:48.76\00:38:50.09 or you getting reports of anything like that? 00:38:50.13\00:38:54.40 Well, that's a tough question to answer 00:38:54.43\00:38:56.20 because, you know, the Lord works every time. 00:38:56.23\00:38:58.60 But, you know, I remember a few weeks ago, 00:38:58.63\00:39:03.61 I was preaching at my home church 00:39:03.64\00:39:04.97 like I mentioned earlier about Daniel 2. 00:39:05.01\00:39:07.04 Our Pathfinder club is doing the Pathfinder Bible experience 00:39:07.08\00:39:09.28 and they're going through the Book of Daniel, 00:39:09.31\00:39:11.85 and we're helping to coach 00:39:11.88\00:39:13.31 'cause we're Pathfinders as well. 00:39:13.35\00:39:15.78 But I was preaching on Daniel 2, 00:39:15.82\00:39:17.85 and so I was going through the different metals 00:39:17.89\00:39:22.12 in the image and explain different things. 00:39:22.16\00:39:24.86 My mother observed 00:39:24.89\00:39:26.23 that even, you know, the smallest, 00:39:26.26\00:39:27.73 the youngest Pathfinders 00:39:27.76\00:39:29.10 like what, eight, nine years old, 00:39:29.13\00:39:30.87 they were, their attention was focused. 00:39:30.90\00:39:32.93 And so, you know, 00:39:32.97\00:39:36.07 I praise the Lord for that ability 00:39:36.10\00:39:37.87 because, you know, 00:39:37.91\00:39:41.24 when I prepare my sermons I try to think, 00:39:41.28\00:39:43.04 you know, is this going to be appreciated 00:39:43.08\00:39:47.02 by the even younger audience that will be listening. 00:39:47.05\00:39:51.22 But I'm amazed at the way the Lord works. 00:39:51.25\00:39:55.62 Like I mentioned 00:39:55.66\00:39:56.99 the younger ones are, were listening, 00:39:57.03\00:39:58.36 there were paying attention, 00:39:58.39\00:40:00.10 and one of the mothers in the church shared 00:40:00.13\00:40:01.60 with me afterwards 00:40:01.63\00:40:02.96 that during the sermon, you know, her daughter said, 00:40:03.00\00:40:06.17 "You know, I want to go to heaven. 00:40:06.20\00:40:07.54 I want to be in God's kingdom." 00:40:07.57\00:40:09.34 And even the older members of our church, 00:40:09.37\00:40:15.51 I remember there was this couple 00:40:15.54\00:40:16.88 that approached me afterwards and said, 00:40:16.91\00:40:18.25 "You know, we had a Bible study 00:40:18.28\00:40:19.61 at our church a few weeks, at our home a few weeks ago. 00:40:19.65\00:40:22.65 And Daniel 2 was being explained, 00:40:22.68\00:40:24.95 and we really didn't get it 00:40:24.99\00:40:26.96 but this sermon really opened our minds about that." 00:40:26.99\00:40:29.59 And, you know, I was amazed, 00:40:29.62\00:40:30.96 you know, how that the Lord will use 00:40:30.99\00:40:32.49 a 16 year old to try to explain 00:40:32.53\00:40:34.20 these things to people of different ages, 00:40:34.23\00:40:36.77 you know, it's amazing 00:40:36.80\00:40:38.13 how the Lord works, and it's very powerful. 00:40:38.17\00:40:40.67 I think you can pick up 00:40:40.70\00:40:42.04 the gospel to understand gospel truths 00:40:42.07\00:40:43.64 from anyone at any age if your mind is right. 00:40:43.67\00:40:46.51 Having said that, I do believe 00:40:46.54\00:40:48.38 that young people hear the gospel 00:40:48.41\00:40:50.81 through young lips in a different way. 00:40:50.85\00:40:53.72 I don't have any illusions 00:40:53.75\00:40:55.08 that a person in my age bracket 00:40:55.12\00:40:58.29 could be as effective tool, 00:40:58.32\00:40:59.72 a teenager as a committed teenager could be. 00:40:59.75\00:41:02.92 First of all, you just, you got shared experiences 00:41:02.96\00:41:05.49 and the gospel just comes out a little differently, 00:41:05.53\00:41:08.13 you know, when you're at that age, 00:41:08.16\00:41:10.83 so praise the Lord for that. 00:41:10.87\00:41:12.73 We've got some pictures and some videos. 00:41:12.77\00:41:14.44 I want you to set up this video that we were going to see. 00:41:14.47\00:41:17.64 Just now tell us what we're going to see. 00:41:17.67\00:41:19.07 The video that we're about to play 00:41:19.11\00:41:20.51 is I think a four minute segment 00:41:20.54\00:41:22.01 from the video about the Protestant Reformation 00:41:22.04\00:41:25.68 that we shared, you know, in 2017, 00:41:25.71\00:41:31.05 and so, I mean, so it's about four minutes. 00:41:31.09\00:41:33.32 The video, the full video, it's about ten minutes long, 00:41:33.36\00:41:36.12 it's on YouTube. 00:41:36.16\00:41:37.49 If you go to our website ShiningLightMediaMinistry.org, 00:41:37.53\00:41:40.63 you can scroll down and the videos, 00:41:40.66\00:41:42.66 you can watch a video there. 00:41:42.70\00:41:44.07 But it starts off with going 00:41:44.10\00:41:47.17 through the life of Martin Luther 00:41:47.20\00:41:48.87 and what led him to that point 00:41:48.90\00:41:50.41 where he nailed the 95 theses on the door of the church. 00:41:50.44\00:41:54.31 And then it takes it a bit further 00:41:54.34\00:41:56.34 and talks about the significance 00:41:56.38\00:41:58.81 of the Reformation in not only history 00:41:58.85\00:42:01.05 but also in our Christian experiences. 00:42:01.08\00:42:03.02 So we'll play about four minutes of that. 00:42:03.05\00:42:04.52 Praise the Lord. Let's take a look. 00:42:04.55\00:42:05.92 The church was in darkness. 00:42:14.83\00:42:19.23 The Book of Truth had been eclipsed by tradition. 00:42:19.27\00:42:23.04 It was a time when holding a Bible meant torture, 00:42:23.07\00:42:25.97 imprisonment, or even death. 00:42:26.01\00:42:29.31 Church leaders became only source of authority 00:42:29.34\00:42:32.75 in spiritual matters, 00:42:32.78\00:42:34.55 to seek pardon and forgiveness a person 00:42:34.58\00:42:37.32 have to confess his sins to the priest. 00:42:37.35\00:42:40.36 Church members sometimes have to pay large sums of money 00:42:40.39\00:42:43.83 to ensure that they 00:42:43.86\00:42:45.19 or a loved one to go straight to heaven at death. 00:42:45.23\00:42:48.73 Refusal to agree with church policy resulted 00:42:48.76\00:42:51.90 in being excommunicated. 00:42:51.93\00:42:54.54 According to church teaching, 00:42:54.57\00:42:56.27 heresy was grounds for consignment 00:42:56.30\00:42:58.41 to the flames of an everlasting burning hell. 00:42:58.44\00:43:02.34 Month after month, year after year, 00:43:02.38\00:43:04.85 and decade after decade passed, 00:43:04.88\00:43:07.22 the church remaining in its cold, 00:43:07.25\00:43:09.15 dark state until one man dare to take a stand. 00:43:09.18\00:43:13.66 In Luther's time, 00:43:17.46\00:43:18.93 a church official named Johann Tetzel, 00:43:18.96\00:43:21.56 began selling indulgences, 00:43:21.60\00:43:23.63 special certificates from the pope 00:43:23.67\00:43:25.73 that promised reduction of time in purgatory, 00:43:25.77\00:43:28.80 which was a place of torture 00:43:28.84\00:43:30.27 that prepared the cease Christians 00:43:30.31\00:43:31.94 to enter heaven. 00:43:31.97\00:43:33.98 Martin Luther rejected this notion 00:43:34.01\00:43:35.78 that people could buy their way into heaven 00:43:35.81\00:43:38.38 by paying certain sums of money. 00:43:38.41\00:43:40.95 In response to Tetzel's sale of indulgences, 00:43:40.98\00:43:44.19 Luther wrote a list of 95 debatable 00:43:44.22\00:43:46.86 these statements that outlined the areas 00:43:46.89\00:43:50.03 in which he disagreed with church teachings 00:43:50.06\00:43:52.03 and policy regarding salvation and forgiveness of sins. 00:43:52.06\00:43:56.16 Then on the eve of All Saints Day, 00:43:56.20\00:43:59.13 Martin Luther nailed these propositions 00:43:59.17\00:44:01.77 to the door of the All Saints Church 00:44:01.80\00:44:04.01 in Wittenberg, Germany. 00:44:04.04\00:44:06.44 These 95 theses were quickly translated 00:44:06.47\00:44:09.44 from Latin to German 00:44:09.48\00:44:11.55 and were distributed all throughout Germany. 00:44:11.58\00:44:15.28 News of Luther, his beliefs, and his writings soon reached 00:44:15.32\00:44:18.95 to the ears of leading church officials, 00:44:18.99\00:44:21.62 including the pope himself. 00:44:21.66\00:44:24.86 After three years of attempts to root out Luther's teachings 00:44:24.89\00:44:28.80 through intimidation, debate, and trial, 00:44:28.83\00:44:32.00 the pope issued a special order 00:44:32.03\00:44:34.17 or papal bull that threatened Luther 00:44:34.20\00:44:37.24 with excommunication 00:44:37.27\00:44:38.97 unless he recanted some of his teachings. 00:44:39.01\00:44:42.44 Luther responded to this act 00:44:42.48\00:44:44.21 with a public burning of the papal bull. 00:44:44.25\00:44:47.42 In January of the following year, 00:44:47.45\00:44:49.48 he was excommunicated from the church. 00:44:49.52\00:44:52.22 Martin Luther's influence led 00:44:55.62\00:44:57.33 to the beginning of the Protestant Reformation, 00:44:57.36\00:45:00.53 a movement that began 00:45:00.56\00:45:01.90 with the object of leading Christians 00:45:01.93\00:45:04.47 back to the truths of God's work, 00:45:04.50\00:45:06.74 which had been obscured in the tradition 00:45:06.77\00:45:08.40 from dogmas of the church throughout the dark ages. 00:45:08.44\00:45:12.31 Some prominent men in this movement 00:45:12.34\00:45:14.14 who became known as Reformers 00:45:14.18\00:45:16.44 were men such as Philip Melanchthon, 00:45:16.48\00:45:19.01 a colleague of Luther. 00:45:19.05\00:45:20.75 John Calvin reformed the doctrines held 00:45:20.78\00:45:22.95 by the Presbyterian Church, and John Knox among others. 00:45:22.98\00:45:27.99 Though these men differed somewhat 00:45:28.02\00:45:29.72 in the details of their belief systems, 00:45:29.76\00:45:32.63 they held two important truths in common, 00:45:32.66\00:45:35.76 the authority of the Scriptures and salvation 00:45:35.80\00:45:38.53 by faith in Jesus Christ. 00:45:38.57\00:45:41.97 These truths have been believed 00:45:42.00\00:45:43.67 and understood by men and women earlier on in the dark ages, 00:45:43.71\00:45:48.28 such as the Waldenses, 00:45:48.31\00:45:49.84 who practice their faith in the Alps. 00:45:49.88\00:45:52.31 And early reformer 00:45:52.35\00:45:53.68 such as John Wycliffe and John Huss. 00:45:53.72\00:45:56.42 In the early years of Protestantism, 00:45:56.45\00:45:59.02 Bible believing Christians often taste severe persecution 00:45:59.05\00:46:03.49 and in the worse cases, death. 00:46:03.53\00:46:07.40 They endured, they suffered, they gave their lives 00:46:07.43\00:46:10.53 because they would not recant their beliefs. 00:46:10.57\00:46:13.90 They dared to take a stand, 00:46:13.94\00:46:15.74 their foundation being the holy Word of God. 00:46:15.77\00:46:19.21 The Christian world is indebted to these faithful men and women 00:46:19.24\00:46:23.28 who stood in defense of truth. 00:46:23.31\00:46:28.78 Well done. 00:46:28.82\00:46:30.15 Good video work and good voiceover work. 00:46:30.19\00:46:34.72 It's collaborative effort. 00:46:34.76\00:46:36.22 Do you guys both do a little editing 00:46:36.26\00:46:37.86 and a little video work? 00:46:37.89\00:46:39.79 Yes. Okay, even the renaissance men. 00:46:39.83\00:46:41.60 He actually wrote 00:46:41.63\00:46:42.96 the musical score for the video, so. 00:46:43.00\00:46:45.43 Yeah, we used some location device 00:46:45.47\00:46:46.97 and exploited it, so we got it all the instruments 00:46:47.00\00:46:49.47 sounding together. 00:46:49.50\00:46:50.84 Yeah, he was doing more of the main video editing, 00:46:50.87\00:46:53.64 like the cutting, and the splicing, 00:46:53.68\00:46:55.81 and then he did the recording. 00:46:55.84\00:46:58.55 He recorded his voice for the video. 00:46:58.58\00:47:01.35 Excellent. Excellent. Well done. Very well done. 00:47:01.38\00:47:04.72 I saw in the pictures you had a chance to speak 00:47:04.75\00:47:07.42 at the General Conference. 00:47:07.46\00:47:09.26 Yes, the General Conference invited us. 00:47:09.29\00:47:10.63 How did you get that invitation? 00:47:10.66\00:47:12.06 Well, in September of 2015, 00:47:12.09\00:47:15.20 a software developer at the General Conference, 00:47:15.23\00:47:17.17 Brother Ean Nugent. 00:47:17.20\00:47:19.30 He visited our church and learned about our ministry 00:47:19.33\00:47:21.24 from the Penaranda family. 00:47:21.27\00:47:22.94 And he soon extended an invitation for Joshua, 00:47:22.97\00:47:27.74 the older son and me to speak for a morning devotional 00:47:27.78\00:47:31.51 at the General Conference headquarters. 00:47:31.55\00:47:32.88 Now, Joshua's is his older son. Yes. 00:47:32.91\00:47:34.58 His older son. Okay. 00:47:34.62\00:47:37.05 And so in November of 2015, 00:47:37.09\00:47:38.89 we actually went and gave the devotional. 00:47:38.92\00:47:41.66 And we actually had the opportunity afterwards 00:47:41.69\00:47:44.36 to meet several wonderful 00:47:44.39\00:47:45.73 and committed leaders of our church, 00:47:45.76\00:47:47.16 including the late Elder C.D. Brooks. 00:47:47.20\00:47:49.53 Yes, and we've been inspired 00:47:49.56\00:47:50.90 by his example of committed service to God. 00:47:50.93\00:47:54.04 But yes, God has been providing many wonderful opportunities, 00:47:54.07\00:47:56.54 including this opportunity at the General Conference. 00:47:56.57\00:47:59.01 Praise the Lord. 00:47:59.04\00:48:00.38 Now did we see the second picture, 00:48:00.41\00:48:01.74 I don't know, I was kind of focusing on you. 00:48:01.78\00:48:04.55 We do, we show them both. Yes and so. 00:48:04.58\00:48:07.95 Now, who's the young man in the glasses? 00:48:07.98\00:48:11.65 The young man in the glasses, that's Joshua. 00:48:11.69\00:48:13.52 Oh, that's, okay. He is a young fellow. 00:48:13.56\00:48:15.42 Yes. Yes. 00:48:15.46\00:48:16.86 We were, I think 14 and 13 at the time. 00:48:16.89\00:48:19.23 At the time. Wow, bless his heart. 00:48:19.26\00:48:21.73 Yeah. 00:48:21.76\00:48:23.10 Did you get a lot of good affirmation 00:48:23.13\00:48:24.47 from the brethren there? 00:48:24.50\00:48:25.83 Yes, we did. Yeah. 00:48:25.87\00:48:27.20 They love to encourage young preachers. 00:48:27.24\00:48:28.57 Yes. They really, really, really do. 00:48:28.60\00:48:32.51 The Reformation series is on YouTube right now, 00:48:32.54\00:48:36.64 something we can see now. 00:48:36.68\00:48:38.51 Not the Reformation series, but the Reformation video. 00:48:38.55\00:48:40.72 The Reformation video, okay. 00:48:40.75\00:48:42.08 So the Reformation series is something that's coming up? 00:48:42.12\00:48:44.22 No, we actually did 00:48:44.25\00:48:45.59 that at our church in November of 2017. 00:48:45.62\00:48:48.09 Oh, okay. All right. 00:48:48.12\00:48:49.59 You know, following the release of the video, 00:48:49.62\00:48:51.83 we began promoting this Reformation series 00:48:51.86\00:48:53.83 at our church. 00:48:53.86\00:48:55.20 Oh, I see. Okay. 00:48:55.23\00:48:56.56 And so, you know, we had visitors 00:48:56.60\00:48:58.50 who came and attended, and they expressed 00:48:58.53\00:49:00.57 that they were blessed by the series. 00:49:00.60\00:49:02.40 Praise the Lord. You did the preaching? 00:49:02.44\00:49:03.94 Yes. How long was the series? 00:49:03.97\00:49:05.44 It was a weekend, so it was Friday, Sabbath, 00:49:05.47\00:49:08.94 and Sunday evening. 00:49:08.98\00:49:11.21 Sometimes we joke around 00:49:11.25\00:49:13.35 or not really joke around but we... 00:49:13.38\00:49:15.62 I like the fact that we should have 00:49:15.65\00:49:17.32 done Sunday's meeting 00:49:17.35\00:49:18.69 on Sabbath morning when most people were there. 00:49:18.72\00:49:22.06 You just did nightly meetings for that time. 00:49:22.09\00:49:24.23 Well, we did Friday night, Sabbath morning, 00:49:24.26\00:49:27.63 and Sunday evening. 00:49:27.66\00:49:29.00 And Sunday evening.
