00:01 As you have seen in a world of constant need,
00:04 GR3 has been the organization, over how many years now, David? 00:08 Fifteen years. 00:09 Over the last 15 years that the Lord has put 00:12 on the front line to make a difference, 00:13 even in some of those most recent disasters 00:15 down in PuertoRico. 00:17 And I thank you Eric and Malcolm. 00:19 But Malcolm you have some stories 00:20 you want to share with us about the developments 00:23 and things that have been happening 00:25 that you experienced as being a part of GR3. 00:27 Yes, thank you, you know as a result of recent responses 00:30 in the disasters, we have seen a demonstrated need 00:33 for more training from all levels, 00:36 from the base levels to the medical professionals. 00:40 And as a result, GR3 will be instituting 00:43 a disaster medicine institute 00:45 which will be a good leaping off point, 00:49 a jumping point for organizations, 00:51 medical professionals to help train, grow, 00:55 particularly in the Caribbean, 00:57 tropical diseases and other things like that. 01:00 In conjecture with that, 01:01 I wanted to just share with you very briefly. 01:03 You know Puerto Rico has a coffee crop, 01:06 and this year this coffee crop was destroyed, 85 to 90% of it. 01:11 And you also have to keep in mind 01:13 that Puerto Rico has, brings in, 01:16 imports most of their produce, 90% of it. 01:20 We went to a remote area, we walked up a hill, 01:22 and there we saw the owner of a plantation, 01:25 he was 76 years old, Louise. 01:28 Louise was despondent, crying, in tears, 01:32 sitting on the ground, and his wife was with him. 01:35 We asked what had happened. 01:37 And Louise announced that his 51 year old son, 01:40 who is the farmer of the plantation, 01:42 had just died three weeks ago and he died of leptospirosis, 01:47 as a result of that. 01:48 That is an aggressive bacteria that humans catch, 01:52 it moves very, very quickly, 01:55 and it comes from rodent droppings 01:57 and from faecal material. 02:00 Louise was despondent, we prayed with him, 02:05 he was touched by it. 02:07 Even the medical doctor touched him and said to him, 02:10 "You will be okay, just have faith" 02:12 and he seemed to lighten up. 02:13 It was just a wonderful experience, 02:15 but what I want to tell you is that as a result of things 02:18 like leptospirosis, we see a tremendous need 02:22 to involve the veterinarian, veterinary aspect of it. 02:26 And our disaster medical institute 02:28 is going to include doctors and veterinarians. 02:32 There is no concerted organized effort now globally 02:36 or domestically where medical doctors 02:38 and veterinarians 02:39 can come together and work together. 02:41 So we've been working with organizations 02:43 to bring together a one-health system, 02:46 and to help bring veterinarians in. 02:49 Right now in Puerto Rico, there is a tremendous need. 02:52 We're doing a pre-assessment right now, 02:54 and it is our plan to return to look 02:57 specifically at that issue. 02:59 When you got to work in the morning in Puerto Rico, 03:02 by and large, you have your animals outside, 03:05 you put the food out, and the dog 03:06 or cat has to fight with the crow's 03:08 and the Iguanas to get the food, 03:11 so there is a lot of bacteria 03:12 and disease that's potentially there. 03:14 So just wanted to share with you that 03:16 that's an important piece, 03:18 the veterinary piece and stories like Louise, 03:21 tragic but in a way they all come around 03:24 that they can find Christ, they can... 03:26 Look this man did not believe at all. 03:28 Right. 03:29 But it took a tragedy in his home, 03:31 in his life for that. 03:32 Thank you. 03:33 David as we're winding up our time here today, 03:35 what are some of the things 03:36 you like to leave with our audiences. 03:38 We would love you to, number one, pray for us. 03:39 Okay. 03:41 Our prayer creates the foundation for miracles 03:43 to happen. 03:44 To pray for us means a lot as partners. 03:47 Secondly, yes if you know friends and partners 03:50 that would like to volunteer 03:52 for short opportunities globally. 03:54 but many of you cannot respond globally, 03:57 and so God has blessed you financially. 04:01 We've had vehicles donated, we've had things donated, 04:04 but financially we need your help today. 04:06 Okay. Erick, 20 seconds. 04:10 Well, I want to, you know, I just want to thank GR3 04:14 for giving me this opportunity. 04:17 In my field this is what we do, but this is, 04:19 to be able to travel with GR3, 04:24 it's truly a blessing at the end of the day, 04:27 at the end of each mission, for me. 04:29 Well, thank you, Pastor, Canther, and Eric, and Malcolm. 04:33 Lawyer, thank you so much for being here. 04:35 And as you see, GR3 as a ministry 04:37 that's made a difference, 04:39 continuing to make a difference. 04:40 And now you can partner with them 04:41 to also make a difference in what may impact your life 04:44 with somebody else's in the future. 04:46 So until we see you again, 04:47 may the Lord continue blessing you 04:49 as you expand the Kingdom of Christ, 04:51 as we get ready for His return. |
