As you have seen in a world of constant need, 00:00:01.36\00:00:04.30 GR3 has been the organization, over how many years now, David? 00:00:04.33\00:00:08.47 Fifteen years. 00:00:08.50\00:00:09.84 Over the last 15 years that the Lord has put 00:00:09.87\00:00:12.01 on the front line to make a difference, 00:00:12.04\00:00:13.71 even in some of those most recent disasters 00:00:13.74\00:00:15.91 down in PuertoRico. 00:00:15.94\00:00:17.75 And I thank you Eric and Malcolm. 00:00:17.78\00:00:19.31 But Malcolm you have some stories 00:00:19.35\00:00:20.68 you want to share with us about the developments 00:00:20.72\00:00:23.62 and things that have been happening 00:00:23.65\00:00:25.25 that you experienced as being a part of GR3. 00:00:25.29\00:00:27.42 Yes, thank you, you know as a result of recent responses 00:00:27.46\00:00:30.49 in the disasters, we have seen a demonstrated need 00:00:30.53\00:00:33.73 for more training from all levels, 00:00:33.76\00:00:36.50 from the base levels to the medical professionals. 00:00:36.53\00:00:40.07 And as a result, GR3 will be instituting 00:00:40.10\00:00:43.00 a disaster medicine institute 00:00:43.04\00:00:45.37 which will be a good leaping off point, 00:00:45.41\00:00:49.14 a jumping point for organizations, 00:00:49.18\00:00:51.68 medical professionals to help train, grow, 00:00:51.71\00:00:55.68 particularly in the Caribbean, 00:00:55.72\00:00:57.19 tropical diseases and other things like that. 00:00:57.22\00:01:00.29 In conjecture with that, 00:01:00.32\00:01:01.66 I wanted to just share with you very briefly. 00:01:01.69\00:01:03.06 You know Puerto Rico has a coffee crop, 00:01:03.09\00:01:06.49 and this year this coffee crop was destroyed, 85 to 90% of it. 00:01:06.53\00:01:11.60 And you also have to keep in mind 00:01:11.63\00:01:13.30 that Puerto Rico has, brings in, 00:01:13.34\00:01:16.50 imports most of their produce, 90% of it. 00:01:16.54\00:01:20.21 We went to a remote area, we walked up a hill, 00:01:20.24\00:01:22.84 and there we saw the owner of a plantation, 00:01:22.88\00:01:25.55 he was 76 years old, Louise. 00:01:25.58\00:01:28.42 Louise was despondent, crying, in tears, 00:01:28.45\00:01:32.39 sitting on the ground, and his wife was with him. 00:01:32.42\00:01:35.86 We asked what had happened. 00:01:35.89\00:01:37.23 And Louise announced that his 51 year old son, 00:01:37.26\00:01:40.20 who is the farmer of the plantation, 00:01:40.23\00:01:42.30 had just died three weeks ago and he died of leptospirosis, 00:01:42.33\00:01:47.27 as a result of that. 00:01:47.30\00:01:48.64 That is an aggressive bacteria that humans catch, 00:01:48.67\00:01:52.74 it moves very, very quickly, 00:01:52.77\00:01:55.01 and it comes from rodent droppings 00:01:55.04\00:01:57.41 and from faecal material. 00:01:57.45\00:02:00.15 Louise was despondent, we prayed with him, 00:02:00.18\00:02:05.42 he was touched by it. 00:02:05.45\00:02:07.46 Even the medical doctor touched him and said to him, 00:02:07.49\00:02:10.53 "You will be okay, just have faith" 00:02:10.56\00:02:12.49 and he seemed to lighten up. 00:02:12.53\00:02:13.86 It was just a wonderful experience, 00:02:13.90\00:02:15.80 but what I want to tell you is that as a result of things 00:02:15.83\00:02:18.87 like leptospirosis, we see a tremendous need 00:02:18.90\00:02:22.40 to involve the veterinarian, veterinary aspect of it. 00:02:22.44\00:02:26.51 And our disaster medical institute 00:02:26.54\00:02:28.71 is going to include doctors and veterinarians. 00:02:28.74\00:02:32.45 There is no concerted organized effort now globally 00:02:32.48\00:02:35.98 or domestically where medical doctors 00:02:36.02\00:02:38.15 and veterinarians 00:02:38.19\00:02:39.52 can come together and work together. 00:02:39.55\00:02:41.06 So we've been working with organizations 00:02:41.09\00:02:43.63 to bring together a one-health system, 00:02:43.66\00:02:46.80 and to help bring veterinarians in. 00:02:46.83\00:02:49.56 Right now in Puerto Rico, there is a tremendous need. 00:02:49.60\00:02:52.57 We're doing a pre-assessment right now, 00:02:52.60\00:02:54.77 and it is our plan to return to look 00:02:54.80\00:02:57.61 specifically at that issue. 00:02:57.64\00:02:59.44 When you got to work in the morning in Puerto Rico, 00:02:59.47\00:03:02.71 by and large, you have your animals outside, 00:03:02.74\00:03:05.28 you put the food out, and the dog 00:03:05.31\00:03:06.72 or cat has to fight with the crow's 00:03:06.75\00:03:08.72 and the Iguanas to get the food, 00:03:08.75\00:03:11.35 so there is a lot of bacteria 00:03:11.39\00:03:12.85 and disease that's potentially there. 00:03:12.89\00:03:14.92 So just wanted to share with you that 00:03:14.96\00:03:16.69 that's an important piece, 00:03:16.73\00:03:18.06 the veterinary piece and stories like Louise, 00:03:18.09\00:03:21.33 tragic but in a way they all come around 00:03:21.36\00:03:24.73 that they can find Christ, they can... 00:03:24.77\00:03:26.70 Look this man did not believe at all. 00:03:26.74\00:03:28.20 Right. 00:03:28.24\00:03:29.57 But it took a tragedy in his home, 00:03:29.60\00:03:30.97 in his life for that. 00:03:31.01\00:03:32.34 Thank you. 00:03:32.37\00:03:33.71 David as we're winding up our time here today, 00:03:33.74\00:03:35.34 what are some of the things 00:03:35.38\00:03:36.71 you like to leave with our audiences. 00:03:36.75\00:03:38.08 We would love you to, number one, pray for us. 00:03:38.11\00:03:39.65 Okay. 00:03:39.68\00:03:41.02 Our prayer creates the foundation for miracles 00:03:41.05\00:03:43.49 to happen. 00:03:43.52\00:03:44.89 To pray for us means a lot as partners. 00:03:44.92\00:03:47.39 Secondly, yes if you know friends and partners 00:03:47.42\00:03:50.36 that would like to volunteer 00:03:50.39\00:03:52.23 for short opportunities globally. 00:03:52.26\00:03:54.23 but many of you cannot respond globally, 00:03:54.26\00:03:57.23 and so God has blessed you financially. 00:03:57.27\00:04:01.14 We've had vehicles donated, we've had things donated, 00:04:01.17\00:04:04.37 but financially we need your help today. 00:04:04.41\00:04:06.57 Okay. Erick, 20 seconds. 00:04:06.61\00:04:10.15 Well, I want to, you know, I just want to thank GR3 00:04:10.18\00:04:14.78 for giving me this opportunity. 00:04:14.82\00:04:17.82 In my field this is what we do, but this is, 00:04:17.85\00:04:19.92 to be able to travel with GR3, 00:04:19.95\00:04:24.63 it's truly a blessing at the end of the day, 00:04:24.66\00:04:27.16 at the end of each mission, for me. 00:04:27.20\00:04:29.76 Well, thank you, Pastor, Canther, and Eric, and Malcolm. 00:04:29.80\00:04:33.67 Lawyer, thank you so much for being here. 00:04:33.70\00:04:35.80 And as you see, GR3 as a ministry 00:04:35.84\00:04:37.61 that's made a difference, 00:04:37.64\00:04:38.97 continuing to make a difference. 00:04:39.01\00:04:40.54 And now you can partner with them 00:04:40.58\00:04:41.91 to also make a difference in what may impact your life 00:04:41.94\00:04:44.65 with somebody else's in the future. 00:04:44.68\00:04:46.51 So until we see you again, 00:04:46.55\00:04:47.88 may the Lord continue blessing you 00:04:47.92\00:04:49.65 as you expand the Kingdom of Christ, 00:04:49.68\00:04:51.85 as we get ready for His return. 00:04:51.89\00:04:54.16
