And Greg and Jill? 00:08:33.51\00:08:34.84 Never been. 00:08:34.88\00:08:36.21 And you guys have been, but it had been a long time. 00:08:36.24\00:08:38.11 What was your impression when you land, 00:08:38.15\00:08:40.32 of course, it's beautiful airport now, 00:08:40.35\00:08:42.05 when you went before it wasn't, 00:08:42.08\00:08:44.52 but a beautiful airport 00:08:44.55\00:08:45.89 and then you go to Red Square. 00:08:45.92\00:08:47.26 What does that do to you? 00:08:47.29\00:08:50.03 Well, personally, I mean, there was, 00:08:50.06\00:08:51.49 you know, so much history. 00:08:51.53\00:08:54.20 But I really wish that I had seen 00:08:54.23\00:08:57.47 what you guys had seen 25 years ago. 00:08:57.50\00:08:59.97 Just to be... 00:09:00.00\00:09:01.64 for the difference to see the comparison of what the way, 00:09:01.67\00:09:06.07 because it's very modern, very, you know, the conveniences. 00:09:06.11\00:09:10.21 There's McDonald's and Cinnabar 00:09:10.25\00:09:11.91 and, you know, things that we're used to here. 00:09:11.95\00:09:15.85 But when you go to Red Square there's nothing like it? 00:09:15.88\00:09:18.19 No. Absolutely. 00:09:18.22\00:09:19.55 Of course, the architecture and the... 00:09:19.59\00:09:23.29 It was cold. 00:09:23.32\00:09:24.66 I know that, but... 00:09:24.69\00:09:26.33 It was cold. But it was... 00:09:26.36\00:09:27.70 Yeah, it was just remarkable. 00:09:27.73\00:09:29.43 And you know, places... 00:09:29.46\00:09:32.17 I've been to a lot of places 00:09:32.20\00:09:35.10 and so places don't impress me as much as the people do. 00:09:35.14\00:09:38.51 And unfortunately I don't always get 00:09:38.54\00:09:40.71 a lot of time to spend with people. 00:09:40.74\00:09:42.61 But in this case being there and that's like when we went 00:09:42.64\00:09:44.95 to London and Honduras and to Russia, 00:09:44.98\00:09:49.75 getting to be with the people, that is just... 00:09:49.78\00:09:52.62 that is what, that's what endears me to where we go. 00:09:52.65\00:09:56.79 So thank you for the opportunities, 00:09:56.83\00:09:58.46 I'll have to say that. 00:09:58.49\00:09:59.83 Right. You guys do... to Red Square. 00:09:59.86\00:10:01.36 It was amazing actually to get... 00:10:01.40\00:10:02.73 Yeah, I mean, you know, Moscow is a very modern city. 00:10:02.76\00:10:05.07 You know, and again I don't have 00:10:05.10\00:10:06.43 the comparison of 25 years ago. 00:10:06.47\00:10:08.27 But when you're there in Red Square, 00:10:08.30\00:10:09.64 it's very rich with history. 00:10:09.67\00:10:12.37 And to think about the people that has suffered too, 00:10:12.41\00:10:14.84 you know, 'cause with that history 00:10:14.88\00:10:16.21 there's a lot of suffering, a lot of that too. 00:10:16.24\00:10:18.15 And so, you know, yeah, it was just phenomenal. 00:10:18.18\00:10:20.25 And then right past 00:10:20.28\00:10:21.62 the Saint Basil's Cathedral is the bridge. 00:10:21.65\00:10:24.65 And that was amazing to me, 00:10:24.69\00:10:26.02 where Julia's brother is unfortunately assassinated. 00:10:26.05\00:10:29.99 And yeah, yeah. 00:10:30.03\00:10:31.83 Boris Nemtsov. 00:10:31.86\00:10:33.56 Yeah, it was an amazing experience to be there 00:10:33.60\00:10:35.53 and then to travel of course by bus to Nizhny Novgorod, 00:10:35.56\00:10:38.17 it's amazing to see. 00:10:38.20\00:10:39.53 For Yvonne and, and I think I can speak for both of us 00:10:39.57\00:10:42.20 from our age group. 00:10:42.24\00:10:44.14 When I first went to Russia in 92, 00:10:44.17\00:10:49.84 I had seen all my life. 00:10:49.88\00:10:51.95 I grew up during the Cold War 00:10:51.98\00:10:54.05 and I remember seeing on television, 00:10:54.08\00:10:56.25 Red Square with hundreds of tanks 00:10:56.28\00:10:58.89 and with soldiers marching 00:10:58.92\00:11:00.86 as this could be a nuclear war any time 00:11:00.89\00:11:03.69 and like it's not a place you ever dream, 00:11:03.73\00:11:06.66 you would ever set foot in. 00:11:06.70\00:11:08.93 And then even in the '80s, and then all of a sudden 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.13 between '90, '91, everything happened. 00:11:12.17\00:11:15.87 And then three years later, 00:11:15.90\00:11:18.07 you know, it wasn't only two or three years before that 00:11:18.11\00:11:21.44 when Reagan was saying, Mr. Gorbachev, 00:11:21.48\00:11:24.71 you know, tear down, you know, basically for Germany 00:11:24.75\00:11:29.98 and for the Iron Curtain, we call it, 00:11:30.02\00:11:32.99 basically saying tear that down. 00:11:33.02\00:11:35.32 And then to actually see it happen 00:11:35.36\00:11:37.56 and to be over there, 00:11:37.59\00:11:38.93 so always every time I'm there, 00:11:38.96\00:11:41.03 I'm amazed and studying with Lenin 00:11:41.06\00:11:43.13 and we didn't get to Honor Lenin's tomb this time, 00:11:43.16\00:11:45.43 but I've been down there to see it. 00:11:45.47\00:11:47.14 So the history of Russia is incredible. 00:11:47.17\00:11:50.21 But to realize 73 years of communism, 00:11:50.24\00:11:53.74 where you couldn't speak the name of Jesus, 00:11:53.78\00:11:55.64 no Bibles were allowed and people would have to write 00:11:55.68\00:11:58.81 Bibles by hand and hide 00:11:58.85\00:12:00.35 and many people were sent to Siberia 00:12:00.38\00:12:02.72 and many were executed 00:12:02.75\00:12:04.32 because they just wanted to have a Bible 00:12:04.35\00:12:06.96 or were caught printing or reading a Bible 00:12:06.99\00:12:09.66 or even those things. 00:12:09.69\00:12:11.03 So for us to go today, 00:12:11.06\00:12:12.39 now let's go forward a little bit, 00:12:12.43\00:12:15.60 we get on a bus and we go about six hours or so, 00:12:15.63\00:12:19.87 you get out in front of the 3ABN center there. 00:12:19.90\00:12:23.41 Let me hear your impressions, Brad Rodney. 00:12:23.44\00:12:26.57 Well, that was the first time we've been to that facility. 00:12:26.61\00:12:29.28 So we hadn't actually seen it in person. 00:12:29.31\00:12:31.55 So everything we had seen was video. 00:12:31.58\00:12:34.02 And you couldn't... 00:12:34.05\00:12:36.38 I don't think there's any video or any pictures 00:12:36.42\00:12:38.75 that could give you the true scale 00:12:38.79\00:12:40.99 of what this place is. 00:12:41.02\00:12:42.42 You know, I was totally blown away by the size, first off 00:12:42.46\00:12:46.59 and then just, how they utilize every single bit of space 00:12:46.63\00:12:50.47 that's in there for the community, 00:12:50.50\00:12:52.33 for conference offices for, 00:12:52.37\00:12:54.24 you know, for the production center. 00:12:54.27\00:12:56.37 But, you know, there's not one little bit of space 00:12:56.40\00:12:59.67 that's not being used for something important, you know. 00:12:59.71\00:13:02.58 Yeah, few hundred square feet that's it all lies. 00:13:02.61\00:13:06.18 And it's just unbelievable the amount. 00:13:06.21\00:13:08.25 Like, we would get lost walking through there talking... 00:13:08.28\00:13:11.29 Oh, yeah. 00:13:11.32\00:13:12.65 We turn this way, they would turn that way. 00:13:12.69\00:13:14.36 Yeah. And you all didn't even go in. 00:13:14.39\00:13:15.72 There's a full basement under, near all that too. 00:13:15.76\00:13:18.53 You really get lost down there for sure. 00:13:18.56\00:13:21.23 We did get lost one time. 00:13:21.26\00:13:22.80 We, it was late one night after the service 00:13:22.83\00:13:26.43 and we had to go pack the cameras and the computer up 00:13:26.47\00:13:29.64 and our driver was waiting on this downstairs. 00:13:29.67\00:13:32.21 So me and Rodney ran up to the office to grab our computer 00:13:32.24\00:13:35.74 and we come back, we're like left, right, which way. 00:13:35.78\00:13:39.21 So we just kind of calling Jill and Greg. 00:13:39.25\00:13:41.22 You guys were in here somewhere. 00:13:41.25\00:13:43.28 We can't get out, yeah. 00:13:43.32\00:13:45.22 You can help us, help us, find a way out. 00:13:45.25\00:13:47.49 But, Tim, your first impression. 00:13:47.52\00:13:49.82 You see the center and it was all lit up, 00:13:49.86\00:13:52.43 we were there at night. 00:13:52.46\00:13:53.80 It was so, so, such a commercial looking place. 00:13:53.83\00:13:57.60 You know, there wasn't... 00:13:57.63\00:13:58.97 And so to see it is, it's amazing, 00:13:59.00\00:14:03.54 but then to hear how it all happened 00:14:03.57\00:14:05.77 and to hear the minimal equipment that they had 00:14:05.81\00:14:10.81 and the minimal manpower, 00:14:10.85\00:14:14.22 you know, it was just the vision. 00:14:14.25\00:14:18.92 You begin to see all of it come together 00:14:18.95\00:14:21.32 and then you're looking at this and you think, 00:14:21.36\00:14:24.46 "Oh, this had to be God." 00:14:24.49\00:14:26.13 And truly, you know, without even over spiritualizing it, 00:14:26.16\00:14:29.63 it truly had to be God, it's just amazing. 00:14:29.66\00:14:32.83 And, so later I will talk more about, 00:14:32.87\00:14:36.14 you know, the vision that you, that you had in that happening. 00:14:36.17\00:14:40.71 But, you know, I want a... 00:14:40.74\00:14:43.28 I'd like to build a tiny house and I can't even picture that. 00:14:43.31\00:14:48.88 And to see this massive structure, 00:14:48.92\00:14:52.15 three storey's and... 00:14:52.19\00:14:54.46 Six storey's in the back. 00:14:54.49\00:14:55.99 Yeah. It was, it was... 00:14:56.02\00:14:58.23 I was speechless, I really was. 00:14:58.26\00:15:00.13 And then, half the time I couldn't see it 00:15:00.16\00:15:01.90 'cause I had tears in my eyes. 00:15:01.93\00:15:03.67 So it was amazing. 00:15:03.70\00:15:05.30 Yvonne, you were there five years ago, 00:15:05.33\00:15:07.74 but even what you saw now? 00:15:07.77\00:15:09.64 Yeah. 00:15:09.67\00:15:11.57 Each time, the two times that I've been, 00:15:11.61\00:15:14.88 have been just such a spiritual experience for me. 00:15:14.91\00:15:18.58 Because you see the building and the building has just been, 00:15:18.61\00:15:23.99 they've just maximized everything. 00:15:24.02\00:15:26.86 And then the people, 00:15:26.89\00:15:29.69 even though we don't speak the same language, 00:15:29.72\00:15:32.46 we do, because we have the Lord. 00:15:32.49\00:15:35.16 And so that bridge is everything 00:15:35.20\00:15:38.00 and so their kindness and their warmth 00:15:38.03\00:15:40.34 and their generosity and their hospitality, 00:15:40.37\00:15:42.77 I mean, it just makes you feel like, wow. 00:15:42.80\00:15:45.71 These are our sisters and brothers 00:15:45.74\00:15:47.38 who, even though right here, 00:15:47.41\00:15:48.84 we don't speak the same language. 00:15:48.88\00:15:50.21 We are all under the same family. 00:15:50.25\00:15:53.72 And so it was just, it was beautiful. 00:15:53.75\00:15:56.42 And we had a meeting in one of the rooms 00:15:56.45\00:15:59.32 and we got to share. 00:15:59.35\00:16:01.02 And, I mean, even though poor Julia was translating, 00:16:01.06\00:16:05.19 you know, I mean, just every second, it was just... 00:16:05.23\00:16:09.76 to me it was just such a beautiful time in the Lord 00:16:09.80\00:16:12.73 and you could just sense 00:16:12.77\00:16:14.10 the presence of God in that room. 00:16:14.14\00:16:15.94 And so that, that facility 00:16:15.97\00:16:18.84 which is the largest Protestant facility 00:16:18.87\00:16:21.94 in the X-Soviet Union. 00:16:21.98\00:16:23.45 That's what I'm told. 00:16:23.48\00:16:25.88 That is... 00:16:25.91\00:16:27.42 It's just so amazing to me that God used you to do that. 00:16:27.45\00:16:32.05 And I'm so proud that you were obedient 00:16:32.09\00:16:35.56 and you followed what God told you to do. 00:16:35.59\00:16:37.93 And that is the proof, 00:16:37.96\00:16:39.79 that is the fruit that has been born as a result of that. 00:16:39.83\00:16:42.33 Well, there was a need after we went without a Carter 00:16:42.36\00:16:45.03 that baptized 2,532 people. 00:16:45.07\00:16:48.64 And so you had, 00:16:48.67\00:16:50.01 I think 27 ministers baptizing for hours 00:16:50.04\00:16:53.61 and then in the next week, they'd be more to get through 00:16:53.64\00:16:56.41 that many people in the cold Volga River. 00:16:56.44\00:16:58.48 Oh! 00:16:58.51\00:16:59.85 You know, it's amazing 'cause it was like May, 00:16:59.88\00:17:01.45 but it was cold there in May. 00:17:01.48\00:17:03.05 And yet these people went in that cold water 00:17:03.08\00:17:05.12 but come out smiling and praising the Lord. 00:17:05.15\00:17:07.69 So then when we met with the conference leaders, 00:17:07.72\00:17:10.39 they said, "We only have one church 00:17:10.43\00:17:12.36 in this huge city of three and a half million. 00:17:12.39\00:17:14.86 It only holds 200 people. 00:17:14.90\00:17:16.46 What are we gonna do? You have to help us." 00:17:16.50\00:17:18.63 So that's when we met 00:17:18.67\00:17:20.10 with the leadership and decided. 00:17:20.14\00:17:22.04 So I said, "Let's see, if we can find some property," 00:17:22.07\00:17:24.64 because for the first time in 70 some years, 00:17:24.67\00:17:27.94 because Julia Outkina's brother, 00:17:27.98\00:17:30.25 Boris Nemtsov was the Governor, he is very democratic young 00:17:30.28\00:17:34.12 33-year-old, 34-year-old governor, 00:17:34.15\00:17:36.35 said, "We're gonna open this up to foreign businesses." 00:17:36.38\00:17:38.99 Never that happened before. 00:17:39.02\00:17:40.52 So we actually could buy property. 00:17:40.56\00:17:43.02 So I said to him basal story, 00:17:43.06\00:17:46.29 I was the president and vice president, Alexander. 00:17:46.33\00:17:49.23 And I said, "Well, you guys, let's find something." 00:17:49.26\00:17:52.33 And we were there several days. 00:17:52.37\00:17:53.70 I said, "See if there's anything that's already built 00:17:53.74\00:17:55.90 or property or something we could purchase." 00:17:55.94\00:17:58.97 And so they came and got me and sometimes without, 00:17:59.01\00:18:02.28 if Julia wasn't there, we have a real hard time communicating, 00:18:02.31\00:18:05.38 but they wanted to show me the facility, 00:18:05.41\00:18:07.15 so we were driving. 00:18:07.18\00:18:08.82 And I hadn't realized that till this trip, 00:18:08.85\00:18:11.49 when Julie explained to me. 00:18:11.52\00:18:13.15 I thought they took me to the building, 00:18:13.19\00:18:14.79 but when we were driving along, there had been a lot of rain 00:18:14.82\00:18:17.66 and the car flooded because it literally, 00:18:17.69\00:18:19.86 the streets were overflowing and so it stopped 00:18:19.89\00:18:22.43 and we got out of the car and walked up. 00:18:22.46\00:18:24.63 And behind a lot of trees, there was some old building 00:18:24.67\00:18:28.84 that looked like, at that time, it's 20 some years ago 00:18:28.87\00:18:31.84 it had been started 00:18:31.87\00:18:33.21 but it had not been finished by a long shot, 00:18:33.24\00:18:35.61 but it was just covered by all its growth and brushes. 00:18:35.64\00:18:38.81 So we started looking around and looked in the basement 00:18:38.85\00:18:41.25 and I saw big holes, 00:18:41.28\00:18:42.88 they were pumping water out of there. 00:18:42.92\00:18:44.99 It must have had five, six feet of water in this basement 00:18:45.02\00:18:48.22 and yet, it was looked like 00:18:48.26\00:18:49.59 an abandoned bombed-out shelter. 00:18:49.62\00:18:52.56 And so that's the place we bought. 00:18:52.59\00:18:54.16 I thought they took me there to show me the place 00:18:54.20\00:18:56.80 and they told me, "No, our car stalled." 00:18:56.83\00:18:58.93 And so when we got out, we saw this place. 00:18:58.97\00:19:01.74 So we checked into that and that's what we bought. 00:19:01.77\00:19:04.34 And so I think $150,000... Phenomenal. 00:19:04.37\00:19:07.91 And we put a lot of money in it after that, 00:19:07.94\00:19:10.28 but at the time, the ruble was 7,000 rubles per dollar. 00:19:10.31\00:19:14.65 And what was it, when we were there? 00:19:14.68\00:19:16.02 58? 58. 00:19:16.05\00:19:17.75 So a lot of difference, our money went so much farther. 00:19:17.79\00:19:20.99 So thanks to our viewers and supporters of 3ABN. 00:19:21.02\00:19:23.79 Thank you for what you do for the cause of God 00:19:23.83\00:19:26.46 because without you, this couldn't have happened. 00:19:26.49\00:19:29.40 So when we go over there, it wasn't anything, 00:19:29.43\00:19:32.50 in other words we just took it one step at a time 00:19:32.53\00:19:35.24 and the Lord showed me 00:19:35.27\00:19:36.60 Julia Outkina was the person we could trust, 00:19:36.64\00:19:39.47 to put in charge, then I came home 00:19:39.51\00:19:41.78 and called John Cantor, my cousin's husband John, 00:19:41.81\00:19:44.91 I knew he was in the building business, construction. 00:19:44.95\00:19:48.92 Took some convincing, I told him. 00:19:48.95\00:19:50.75 He said, "Well, how long would you need me?" 00:19:50.79\00:19:52.12 I said, if you'd just go for three months, 00:19:52.15\00:19:54.29 that three months was four years, 00:19:54.32\00:19:56.29 so of his life, 00:19:56.32\00:19:57.73 but John passed away few years ago 00:19:57.76\00:20:00.96 and I was able to talk to him, literally, 00:20:01.00\00:20:03.06 maybe minutes or an hour before he died. 00:20:03.10\00:20:05.60 I was in Australia and he wasn't able to say much, 00:20:05.63\00:20:08.90 but his brother said, when I mentioned Russia, 00:20:08.94\00:20:11.17 he smiled, his eyes were shut. 00:20:11.21\00:20:13.94 And his wife Janice has said before and we all knew it, 00:20:13.98\00:20:17.18 he said, "This was why I was created. 00:20:17.21\00:20:18.85 This was... 00:20:18.88\00:20:20.22 In my life, 00:20:20.25\00:20:21.58 this is all the things I've done." 00:20:21.62\00:20:22.95 He was a school teacher, 00:20:22.98\00:20:24.32 church school teacher, a builder, 00:20:24.35\00:20:25.69 nothing Russia was what I was born to do 00:20:25.72\00:20:29.42 and I believe it. 00:20:29.46\00:20:30.79 So his touch is what you guys see, 00:20:30.83\00:20:33.40 all that build in second floor 00:20:33.43\00:20:35.03 'cause a lot of that was just two storey. 00:20:35.06\00:20:37.03 He built the third floors on it. 00:20:37.07\00:20:38.83 He did so much of the building in it. 00:20:38.87\00:20:40.84 He designed everything, working with local architects. 00:20:40.87\00:20:44.07 And so to see that facility, how it got done? 00:20:44.11\00:20:47.31 We just did it one bite at a time. 00:20:47.34\00:20:49.64 Viewers would send money 00:20:49.68\00:20:51.01 and we would send it every month 00:20:51.05\00:20:52.38 and somehow it all got paid for. 00:20:52.41\00:20:54.62 And it was only through you and the Lord. 00:20:54.65\00:20:56.52 So thank you so much for that. 00:20:56.55\00:20:59.45 I want to talk some about the people there. 00:20:59.49\00:21:03.32 And Tim, you want to talk some about that too. 00:21:03.36\00:21:06.09 You met the people. 00:21:06.13\00:21:07.50 I don't think any of us 00:21:07.53\00:21:09.06 were at some point were dry eyed 00:21:09.10\00:21:11.90 when we saw all the people and when we met them. 00:21:11.93\00:21:13.77 First of all when they greeted us, 00:21:13.80\00:21:15.67 tell us about, Tim, the greeting with them. 00:21:15.70\00:21:17.67 You're a musician. 00:21:17.71\00:21:19.04 Yeah, they did a traditional 00:21:19.07\00:21:21.14 Russian greeting with the salt and the bread. 00:21:21.18\00:21:23.21 And they had a little pit band over in the corner with those. 00:21:23.24\00:21:27.48 I don't even know 00:21:27.52\00:21:28.85 what the instruments they were playing 00:21:28.88\00:21:30.22 but they were, it was just they were in the costumes 00:21:30.25\00:21:33.79 and it was just... 00:21:33.82\00:21:36.89 The fact that they cared, you know, they... 00:21:36.93\00:21:39.46 It was a little dance, culture dance. 00:21:39.49\00:21:40.83 Yeah, the dance, right. 00:21:40.86\00:21:42.36 Everything was just... 00:21:42.40\00:21:43.97 It was just from the heart. 00:21:44.00\00:21:45.90 And I'm thinking, 00:21:45.93\00:21:47.30 you know, I had seen Julia 00:21:47.34\00:21:50.74 and I guess a couple of the other gentleman, 00:21:50.77\00:21:54.64 Alexi, at the camp meeting, they had been here. 00:21:54.68\00:21:58.01 And I was thinking, 00:21:58.05\00:21:59.65 "What did I do special to go out of my way 00:21:59.68\00:22:02.05 to make them feel welcome?" 00:22:02.08\00:22:03.79 Oh, wow. 00:22:03.82\00:22:05.15 And I don't remember doing anything. 00:22:05.19\00:22:07.06 I didn't even say howdy or anything like 00:22:07.09\00:22:10.16 you might say down in the South. 00:22:10.19\00:22:12.06 So my southern hospitality really got a lesson 00:22:12.09\00:22:15.43 when I went over there 00:22:15.46\00:22:16.80 just because, and everything that they did 00:22:16.83\00:22:18.33 from the night we... 00:22:18.37\00:22:19.70 You know, when we flew in, 00:22:19.73\00:22:21.07 we took the long bus ride from Moscow 00:22:21.10\00:22:23.67 and they were waiting there for us with crapes. 00:22:23.71\00:22:26.88 And, I mean, the big long table set out 00:22:26.91\00:22:28.98 and it was, it was late 00:22:29.01\00:22:30.35 and we probably all wanted to go to bed. 00:22:30.38\00:22:32.58 But the fact that 00:22:32.61\00:22:33.95 they had prepared a meal for us, 00:22:33.98\00:22:35.92 that was just over the top and that was their heart. 00:22:35.95\00:22:38.19 They were, you know... 00:22:38.22\00:22:39.55 And so I was just put to shame, really was. 00:22:39.59\00:22:42.79 You know, it's incredible. 00:22:42.82\00:22:44.16 To me, what really impressed me. 00:22:44.19\00:22:45.93 We've heard the stories for years. 00:22:45.96\00:22:47.30 You know, you've shared the stories 00:22:47.33\00:22:48.66 and it's incredible to see 00:22:48.70\00:22:50.30 what God is doing 00:22:50.33\00:22:51.67 and actually to see the miracles. 00:22:51.70\00:22:53.34 But the people, the people just, 00:22:53.37\00:22:56.04 from the moment 00:22:56.07\00:22:57.41 we came through customs at the airport there. 00:22:57.44\00:23:00.48 And Julia and the whole team were right there, 00:23:00.51\00:23:03.35 you know, just on the other side of customs. 00:23:03.38\00:23:05.11 And then she said, "Okay, welcome to Russia 00:23:05.15\00:23:07.78 and you each get someone assigned to you." 00:23:07.82\00:23:10.32 So we would never be without a translator, 00:23:10.35\00:23:12.52 we would never be without someone. 00:23:12.55\00:23:14.26 And then the whole the way through, 00:23:14.29\00:23:16.32 just their heart of service, their heart of... 00:23:16.36\00:23:20.90 Their spirit of sacrifice. 00:23:20.93\00:23:23.97 You mentioned Red Square a moment ago. 00:23:24.00\00:23:26.63 And when we were there in Red Square, 00:23:26.67\00:23:28.04 the architecture just of Red Square, 00:23:28.07\00:23:30.81 Saint Basil's Cathedral, 00:23:30.84\00:23:32.17 the Kremlin, you can kind of stand 00:23:32.21\00:23:33.98 and go 360, all the way around. 00:23:34.01\00:23:36.95 And one side is Saint Basil's 00:23:36.98\00:23:38.78 and the other side is a Kremlin, 00:23:38.81\00:23:40.15 the other side was some sort of shopping mall I think. 00:23:40.18\00:23:42.65 Yeah, it used to be a government building, 00:23:42.68\00:23:44.25 but now it's a big mall there. 00:23:44.29\00:23:45.62 And then on the other side, 00:23:45.65\00:23:46.99 I forget what that building once, 00:23:47.02\00:23:48.36 but, just the whole way around 00:23:48.39\00:23:49.72 and there was that little circular. 00:23:49.76\00:23:52.59 I'm not even sure, it had a low wall. 00:23:52.63\00:23:54.03 I don't know if you saw, 00:23:54.06\00:23:55.40 it was down toward the end by Saint Basil's Cathedral 00:23:55.43\00:23:56.97 and they said, 00:23:57.00\00:23:58.33 that's where people used to be killed, 00:23:58.37\00:24:00.50 the history of Red Square and the history that's there. 00:24:00.54\00:24:05.47 But you think about the communism 00:24:05.51\00:24:07.84 that they lived under 00:24:07.88\00:24:09.21 and the sacrifices for the Gospel. 00:24:09.24\00:24:11.48 And yet their heart and their spirit of love 00:24:11.51\00:24:15.98 and to reach out 00:24:16.02\00:24:17.35 and just that welcomed us and I was put to shame. 00:24:17.39\00:24:22.76 Absolutely. 00:24:22.79\00:24:24.13 You know, just, 00:24:24.16\00:24:25.49 and God calls us to sacrifice more 00:24:25.53\00:24:28.06 and God's calling me 00:24:28.10\00:24:29.43 to reach out and love people more. 00:24:29.46\00:24:31.03 You know, just reach out and give of yourself. 00:24:31.07\00:24:34.44 Yeah. Yeah. 00:24:34.47\00:24:36.07 Yeah, what's amazing to me was, 25 years later, 00:24:36.10\00:24:40.44 Elder Carter was back doing evangelistic series 00:24:40.48\00:24:43.95 and we'll do a program on that. 00:24:43.98\00:24:45.88 And the people came out, they'd love John Carter. 00:24:45.91\00:24:49.65 And when they, that we said, 00:24:49.68\00:24:51.99 "How many of you were here 25 years ago?" 00:24:52.02\00:24:54.52 Unbelievable. 00:24:54.56\00:24:55.89 I don't know, we'll say crowd shots, 00:24:55.92\00:24:57.26 but I'd say 80% of those people were baptized 25 years ago. 00:24:57.29\00:25:02.70 Some of those were teenagers. 00:25:02.73\00:25:04.13 In fact, that conference president 00:25:04.17\00:25:05.63 was 16, 17 years old, 00:25:05.67\00:25:07.70 who was baptized during those meetings. 00:25:07.74\00:25:09.90 I think it's a treasure, so other folks there. 00:25:09.94\00:25:12.94 But they were still there 00:25:12.97\00:25:14.41 because they found something real, 00:25:14.44\00:25:16.98 something solid, something that's kept them, 00:25:17.01\00:25:20.08 you know, connected to the Lord. 00:25:20.12\00:25:22.15 And so what Elder Carter has done 00:25:22.18\00:25:24.79 and it wouldn't be right to do this program 00:25:24.82\00:25:26.86 or I wouldn't want to forget to do it or to say, 00:25:26.89\00:25:29.32 "Thank you to the Carter Report," 00:25:29.36\00:25:30.83 John Carter, for what, your 40 some trips to Russia 00:25:30.86\00:25:34.76 holding literally dozens and dozens 00:25:34.80\00:25:38.07 of evangelistic series' 00:25:38.10\00:25:41.17 and none of them were small, he does nothing small. 00:25:41.20\00:25:43.64 Elder Carter goes in a big way, 00:25:43.67\00:25:46.11 everywhere and because of you 00:25:46.14\00:25:47.94 and your support and thank you for that. 00:25:47.98\00:25:50.35 But untold thousands, 00:25:50.38\00:25:52.35 and yeah, I believe hundreds of thousands of people 00:25:52.38\00:25:54.78 have come to know Jesus through the ministries. 00:25:54.82\00:25:57.95 And so working together with 3ABN 00:25:57.99\00:26:00.36 and Carter Report and you at home 00:26:00.39\00:26:02.46 is a win-win for everybody. 00:26:02.49\00:26:04.89 We want to talk a little bit about 00:26:04.93\00:26:06.76 the production, the work, 00:26:06.80\00:26:08.46 the crew there and I want to get Brad, 00:26:08.50\00:26:10.90 Rodney involved in that and you, Greg... 00:26:10.93\00:26:12.27 Sure. 00:26:12.30\00:26:13.64 Because we... 00:26:13.67\00:26:15.00 Were you surprised, Rodney, 00:26:15.04\00:26:16.37 when you saw the work they do there? 00:26:16.40\00:26:18.17 Oh, absolutely. 00:26:18.21\00:26:19.54 The amount of work that they do, 00:26:19.57\00:26:22.38 it's like, with the equipment that they have 00:26:22.41\00:26:26.15 and the amount of work that they do, 00:26:26.18\00:26:27.98 it's almost embarrassing. 00:26:28.02\00:26:30.25 It is. 00:26:30.29\00:26:31.62 It's almost embarrassing 00:26:31.65\00:26:32.99 what we accomplished compared to what they do 00:26:33.02\00:26:35.96 and what they have 00:26:35.99\00:26:37.33 and the way that they put their entire heart 00:26:37.36\00:26:41.00 into everything that they do. 00:26:41.03\00:26:42.36 It's not just... 00:26:42.40\00:26:43.73 Let's get a whole bunch of programs done, 00:26:43.77\00:26:45.10 so we can get them on the air 00:26:45.13\00:26:46.47 and just move on to the next one. 00:26:46.50\00:26:47.84 You know, everyone that they do, 00:26:47.87\00:26:49.20 they put a lot of heart into it. 00:26:49.24\00:26:51.24 You know, and it might not be, 00:26:51.27\00:26:54.68 let's say the most amazing thing 00:26:54.71\00:26:56.24 that you've ever seen. 00:26:56.28\00:26:57.65 But you get more of a message 00:26:57.68\00:26:59.65 because of the heart that's put into it 00:26:59.68\00:27:01.72 and all of the effort that goes into making these programs. 00:27:01.75\00:27:05.12 You know, they're not cookie cutter, 00:27:05.15\00:27:06.49 they're not just something simple. 00:27:06.52\00:27:09.02 I mean, everything is difficult and done well, done very well. 00:27:09.06\00:27:13.53 Brad, their creativity? It's amazing. 00:27:13.56\00:27:16.06 Yeah, they... 00:27:16.10\00:27:17.43 What I just can't get over... 00:27:17.47\00:27:20.70 When I saw the kids first, 00:27:20.74\00:27:22.17 there was there our translators. 00:27:22.20\00:27:23.87 What I really was impressed the most was, 00:27:23.91\00:27:27.94 one of the girls that was there 00:27:27.98\00:27:29.31 and she was going 00:27:29.34\00:27:30.68 to the Carter Report 25 years ago, 00:27:30.71\00:27:32.81 she was one-year-old. 00:27:32.85\00:27:34.18 Oh, yeah. Mom and dad got saved. 00:27:34.22\00:27:36.12 She has been raised her whole life now 00:27:36.15\00:27:38.19 in the church working full time. 00:27:38.22\00:27:40.06 Elena. Yeah. 00:27:40.09\00:27:41.42 And I think she's dating one of the guys 00:27:41.46\00:27:43.12 that's there now. 00:27:43.16\00:27:44.49 He wasn't even born a year, an year after that. 00:27:44.53\00:27:47.76 So it's amazing that these people, 00:27:47.80\00:27:50.93 you know, have been raised in church, 00:27:50.97\00:27:52.97 you know, where would they have been that way, 00:27:53.00\00:27:55.97 you know, if there was no Carter there. 00:27:56.00\00:27:58.91 But I couldn't get over 00:27:58.94\00:28:00.88 the amount of work that they're doing. 00:28:00.91\00:28:03.14 Just amazing. 00:28:03.18\00:28:04.75 Just they've got the same 3ABN, 00:28:04.78\00:28:08.05 go get them, I guess, as we have here. 00:28:08.08\00:28:11.85 Because the guys that work in production now, 00:28:11.89\00:28:14.02 they were carrying the bricks and they were helping 00:28:14.06\00:28:16.06 put the building together before production started. 00:28:16.09\00:28:20.63 And I think that building would have existed today, 00:28:20.66\00:28:25.07 even with the hammers 00:28:25.10\00:28:26.84 and, you know, all the carpentry equipment 00:28:26.87\00:28:30.87 that they had back then. 00:28:30.91\00:28:32.44 They were gonna build that building, 00:28:32.47\00:28:33.81 you know, but they didn't have the tools needed, 00:28:33.84\00:28:37.05 you know, at that earlier stage. 00:28:37.08\00:28:38.51 And I think that's the same, 00:28:38.55\00:28:40.32 that's in the production and the guys have now. 00:28:40.35\00:28:42.65 They're doing such an amazing job with, 00:28:42.68\00:28:45.95 really what we'd call, 00:28:45.99\00:28:47.32 you know, not the best equipment that's out there 00:28:47.36\00:28:50.86 but they can produce programming and stuff. 00:28:50.89\00:28:54.43 And I think God's in, 00:28:54.46\00:28:55.80 you know, he was in the building, 00:28:55.83\00:28:57.33 making the building happening. 00:28:57.37\00:28:58.70 He's definitely in charge of getting 00:28:58.73\00:29:01.24 these productions up and on the air. 00:29:01.27\00:29:03.57 Say for 10 or 15 years, that they... 00:29:03.61\00:29:07.51 Well, when we first got there and you guys remember this. 00:29:07.54\00:29:10.38 You go into any... 00:29:10.41\00:29:11.75 There wasn't really stores per se 00:29:11.78\00:29:13.35 or any shopping centers or even grocery stores. 00:29:13.38\00:29:16.79 There was just places you get potatoes here, 00:29:16.82\00:29:19.02 somebody sitting out on the street, 00:29:19.05\00:29:20.52 maybe some, you know, cabbage here 00:29:20.56\00:29:23.83 and it took a Russian woman several hours a day to go out 00:29:23.86\00:29:27.33 and try to gather up enough food. 00:29:27.36\00:29:29.90 But when you went to pay, 00:29:29.93\00:29:31.80 you remember what you paid when they counted your... 00:29:31.83\00:29:34.27 wasn't a computer, was it? 00:29:34.30\00:29:35.64 No. No. 00:29:35.67\00:29:37.01 An abacus. It's the abacus. 00:29:37.04\00:29:38.37 Abacus. 00:29:38.41\00:29:39.74 Which was used in Bible times and like I had no idea whether, 00:29:39.77\00:29:43.58 you know, this was right or wrong. 00:29:43.61\00:29:44.95 I just paid whatever they told me 00:29:44.98\00:29:46.31 'cause they were like flipping these beads back and forth. 00:29:46.35\00:29:49.65 Oh, we had this little $99 hand computers, 00:29:49.68\00:29:53.12 they were astounded by that, that's amazing. 00:29:53.15\00:29:56.12 So when we go there and see that they had nothing 00:29:56.16\00:30:00.86 and only recently the wifi, there were no cable stations, 00:30:00.90\00:30:05.33 very little equipment, production equipment. 00:30:05.37\00:30:08.67 No one had cameras or videos. 00:30:08.70\00:30:11.84 The Russian people, they didn't have Bibles. 00:30:11.87\00:30:14.84 So this is not like 00:30:14.88\00:30:16.75 we've been developing for the last 25 years 00:30:16.78\00:30:19.51 with all the tools. 00:30:19.55\00:30:21.02 For the last first 10 or 15 years, 00:30:21.05\00:30:23.69 they still had hardly no tools to work with, 00:30:23.72\00:30:26.29 except what we took them. 00:30:26.32\00:30:27.99 And so in just the last few years 00:30:28.02\00:30:30.83 under President Putin, 00:30:30.86\00:30:32.39 Russia is thriving actually right now. 00:30:32.43\00:30:35.00 So it's amazing, but again the people, Greg, 00:30:35.03\00:30:38.87 you and Jill got to spend some time 00:30:38.90\00:30:40.67 with some of the administrators and all. 00:30:40.70\00:30:42.50 Yeah, it was fantastic and it really goes back to, 00:30:42.54\00:30:44.41 they have... 00:30:44.44\00:30:45.77 they give even if they don't have a lot 00:30:45.81\00:30:47.28 and that is what touches my heart so much. 00:30:47.31\00:30:49.74 You know, even if it's just something, 00:30:49.78\00:30:51.21 maybe just small, 00:30:51.25\00:30:52.58 they still want to give it to you. 00:30:52.61\00:30:53.95 And with such... 00:30:53.98\00:30:55.88 I guess you could say love. 00:30:55.92\00:30:57.25 I'm seeing their faces are happy 00:30:57.29\00:30:59.59 and you know they're happy there. 00:30:59.62\00:31:02.22 When we went, Jill and I had the opportunity 00:31:02.26\00:31:03.69 to go through some of the production offices. 00:31:03.73\00:31:06.09 And again, it's amazing because they don't have a lot, 00:31:06.13\00:31:08.36 but yet we didn't hear any complaining. 00:31:08.40\00:31:10.87 You know, it's just a lot of joy 00:31:10.90\00:31:12.57 in what they were doing, 00:31:12.60\00:31:13.94 with what they had and it's a rebuke, 00:31:13.97\00:31:17.11 it is, you know. 00:31:17.14\00:31:18.47 Jill and I were talking. 00:31:18.51\00:31:19.84 You know, sometimes I can complain about this 00:31:19.87\00:31:21.21 or complain about that 00:31:21.24\00:31:22.58 and really, I have no need to complain whatsoever. 00:31:22.61\00:31:25.61 You know, and really, 00:31:25.65\00:31:26.98 just need to see what God is doing through them, 00:31:27.02\00:31:29.82 it's just phenomenal and they seem 00:31:29.85\00:31:31.19 so excited about it. 00:31:31.22\00:31:32.55 You know, it is need to because they're so resourceful. 00:31:32.59\00:31:36.52 And, you know, Rodney and Brad 00:31:36.56\00:31:37.89 and I were looking at some of the stuff 00:31:37.93\00:31:39.26 that they've built. 00:31:39.29\00:31:40.63 I didn't get a chance to go in the carpenter shop 00:31:40.66\00:31:42.00 and I think they have a little machine shop. 00:31:42.03\00:31:43.37 Oh, yeah. Yeah. 00:31:43.40\00:31:44.73 And I hear it's amazing, but they do so much. 00:31:44.77\00:31:46.40 I mean, their engineer, like the jib 00:31:46.43\00:31:47.77 which is the camera with the really long arm 00:31:47.80\00:31:51.04 and it has a camera on the end. 00:31:51.07\00:31:52.41 They built their jib, 00:31:52.44\00:31:53.78 I think, basically out of metal pieces 00:31:53.81\00:31:55.14 that they manufactured 00:31:55.18\00:31:56.51 and they bought a couple of pieces. 00:31:56.54\00:31:58.05 They have built the track too for the camera. 00:31:58.08\00:31:59.41 Didn't it going back and forth? 00:31:59.45\00:32:00.78 Well, the legs that go for the track, yeah. 00:32:00.82\00:32:02.62 And they also like 00:32:02.65\00:32:03.99 some of the lighting fixtures and things. 00:32:04.02\00:32:05.49 I mean, yeah, it's all built in their machine shop. 00:32:05.52\00:32:08.56 I mean, it's phenomenal. 00:32:08.59\00:32:09.92 We're looking at this like, "Whoa, this is nice." 00:32:09.96\00:32:11.86 You take some pictures, we'll bring back home. 00:32:11.89\00:32:14.30 And, yeah, it's just, I don't know, encouraging. 00:32:14.33\00:32:17.77 It was a dream come true to go to 3ABN Russian facility 00:32:17.80\00:32:22.94 and to see what God has done it. 00:32:22.97\00:32:24.61 Like everyone is saying, 00:32:24.64\00:32:27.54 pictures don't do justice 00:32:27.58\00:32:29.08 to what God has done there and it was need too. 00:32:29.11\00:32:31.68 We did some stuff 00:32:31.71\00:32:33.05 we probably weren't supposed too, 00:32:33.08\00:32:34.42 but we climbed up on the roof. 00:32:34.45\00:32:35.78 You did too Mr. Shelton. That's a long way up. 00:33:09.02\00:33:12.65 I'd say less than two. 00:33:12.69\00:33:14.02 You said what 25 years ago or somewhere back then, 00:33:14.06\00:33:15.72 you on the very peak of that? 00:33:15.76\00:33:17.36 Yes. 00:33:17.39\00:33:18.73 Maybe I should just stop right there, 00:33:18.76\00:33:20.10 but I... 00:33:20.13\00:33:21.46 Well, we're laid on that very peak 00:33:21.50\00:33:22.83 which is the highest point of that building. 00:33:22.86\00:33:24.83 We would have tried it again, 00:33:24.87\00:33:26.23 except it was wet 00:33:26.27\00:33:27.60 and we had to get across that aluminum 00:33:27.64\00:33:29.64 that was on top that we could have slipped, 00:33:29.67\00:33:31.34 'cause it's several storey's down, 00:33:31.37\00:33:33.07 you wouldn't want to do that. 00:33:33.11\00:33:34.61 But there was still one point we didn't conquer. 00:33:34.64\00:33:36.91 So we liked to get all the way to the peak 00:33:36.95\00:33:39.38 and it's a long... 00:33:39.41\00:33:40.75 It's six storey's plus this, you know, top. 00:33:40.78\00:33:43.32 But it's just such an incredible facility. 00:33:43.35\00:33:46.25 But, you know, there's great facilities 00:33:46.29\00:33:48.09 all around the world. 00:33:48.12\00:33:49.46 If you go to Moscow, 00:33:49.49\00:33:50.83 there are facilities that will put us to shame 00:33:50.86\00:33:52.73 as far as our construct, 00:33:52.76\00:33:54.26 architecture and money and all of that. 00:33:54.30\00:33:58.67 But the difference is, is what's come out, 00:33:58.70\00:34:00.90 what comes out of this. 00:34:00.94\00:34:02.27 That's right. 00:34:02.30\00:34:03.64 From this center, 00:34:03.67\00:34:05.27 programs are being produced that go to satellite, 00:34:05.31\00:34:08.48 all across the X-Soviet Union. 00:34:08.51\00:34:10.98 And literally it can be seen anywhere around the world, 00:34:11.01\00:34:14.12 about something like 00:34:14.15\00:34:15.48 150 to 200 million Russians 00:34:15.52\00:34:18.65 can now watch programming in their own language. 00:34:18.69\00:34:22.76 And so because of that, their center there, 00:34:22.79\00:34:25.83 we've seen thousands of Baptisms... 00:34:25.86\00:34:27.80 Yes. Amen. 00:34:27.83\00:34:29.16 And literally, they will be some... 00:34:29.20\00:34:32.33 There used to, when I'd go over there, 00:34:32.37\00:34:33.70 they'd show me, 00:34:33.74\00:34:35.07 they would have over a thousand Bible studies 00:34:35.10\00:34:36.44 going at a time 00:34:36.47\00:34:37.81 and just a lot of volunteers giving those... 00:34:37.84\00:34:39.77 In that facility? 00:34:39.81\00:34:41.14 In the facility, they have thousands Bible studies, 00:34:41.18\00:34:43.55 they were people writing 00:34:43.58\00:34:45.15 and then trying to back and forth, 00:34:45.18\00:34:47.88 you know, through the mail and snail mail, 00:34:47.92\00:34:49.98 didn't have the internet. 00:34:50.02\00:34:51.45 And so trying to send Bibles, 00:34:51.49\00:34:54.06 trying to keep all of this up 00:34:54.09\00:34:56.32 and then there was no cable stations back then. 00:34:56.36\00:34:58.96 Now there are cable stations, all over these cable stations 00:34:58.99\00:35:01.86 are taking us re-broadcasting 3ABN. 00:35:01.90\00:35:05.50 The rewards, you guys know more than I do, 00:35:05.53\00:35:07.40 but they've got a number to tell us 00:35:07.44\00:35:08.90 about the awards they have. 00:35:08.94\00:35:11.57 Again, I don't want to say competition 00:35:11.61\00:35:13.64 with secular television, 00:35:13.68\00:35:15.21 but they go to these shows in Moscow 00:35:15.24\00:35:17.35 and they've done well, haven't they? 00:35:17.38\00:35:18.71 Yeah, very well. 00:35:18.75\00:35:20.08 Yeah, they had a whole wall of awards. 00:35:20.12\00:35:21.62 And I think... 00:35:21.65\00:35:22.98 I don't think it's necessarily competing with, 00:35:23.02\00:35:25.65 you know, the world. 00:35:25.69\00:35:27.32 But you have to give credence to what you're saying visually. 00:35:27.36\00:35:31.69 You know, and I think that... 00:35:31.73\00:35:33.96 I think for today's society, they're looking for, 00:35:34.00\00:35:38.13 you know, something that's exciting. 00:35:38.17\00:35:39.97 And that just kind of says, 00:35:40.00\00:35:42.57 "Oh, yeah, we're... 00:35:42.60\00:35:43.94 our quality is right there." 00:35:43.97\00:35:45.31 You know, with all the big named 00:35:45.34\00:35:46.98 companies out there, our quality is right there. 00:35:47.01\00:35:49.34 You know, we just have a different message so... 00:35:49.38\00:35:52.81 And there's a lot of people that I don't know. 00:35:52.85\00:35:54.92 I mean, I'm sure that 00:35:54.95\00:35:56.28 there's a way that they would have. 00:35:56.32\00:35:57.65 But, you know, a lot of people 00:35:57.69\00:35:59.02 that who just keep flipping right on past it, 00:35:59.05\00:36:01.16 had it not had the visual appeal 00:36:01.19\00:36:03.66 that it does or, you know, the sound quality. 00:36:03.69\00:36:06.39 If it was bad, 00:36:06.43\00:36:07.76 people aren't going to watch it, 00:36:07.80\00:36:09.36 you know, unless there's other circumstances. 00:36:09.40\00:36:12.80 But, you know, for the most part, 00:36:12.83\00:36:14.30 people are going to stop and watch something 00:36:14.34\00:36:16.00 that's not interesting, you know. 00:36:16.04\00:36:18.57 And that's how they get it on 00:36:18.61\00:36:19.94 so many cable stations being Christian, 00:36:19.97\00:36:22.41 because they're still not really popular 00:36:22.44\00:36:24.85 throughout the X-Soviet Union Christianity. 00:36:24.88\00:36:27.48 But they put them on 00:36:27.52\00:36:28.85 because their quality is so good 00:36:28.88\00:36:30.92 and they get such great responses. 00:36:30.95\00:36:33.22 The television stations, let Julia and the crew know, 00:36:33.25\00:36:38.26 we get tremendous responses. 00:36:38.29\00:36:39.86 Some of those, Julia has programmed 00:36:39.89\00:36:42.00 the "Face to Face" 00:36:42.03\00:36:43.57 was the most popular for a long time, 00:36:43.60\00:36:45.60 maybe it still is, 00:36:45.63\00:36:46.97 throughout all of Nizhny Novgorod, 00:36:47.00\00:36:48.67 most popular program, 00:36:48.70\00:36:50.11 where she just interviewed people, 00:36:50.14\00:36:51.47 talked about the Lord. 00:36:51.51\00:36:52.87 And I mean, the cable companies told. 00:36:52.91\00:36:55.14 Secular cable companies told her that, you know. 00:36:55.18\00:36:57.98 And so people literally, all across the X-Soviet Union. 00:36:58.01\00:37:01.55 And again, it's thanks to you for what you do. 00:37:01.58\00:37:04.69 Without you, none of this would have happened. 00:37:04.72\00:37:07.09 And as I said, the building is great 00:37:07.12\00:37:09.02 and that's wonderful but there are great buildings, 00:37:09.06\00:37:10.86 there's bigger buildings there, 00:37:10.89\00:37:12.76 but it's what's happening within the building. 00:37:12.79\00:37:15.03 They have a... 00:37:15.06\00:37:16.40 That conference has a second floor, 00:37:16.43\00:37:17.83 they're working with. 00:37:17.87\00:37:19.57 The seminary students come there, 00:37:19.60\00:37:22.57 so you have area and people live there. 00:37:22.60\00:37:25.57 That is like, I don't know, we couldn't... 00:37:25.61\00:37:27.28 we didn't go into all of them, 00:37:27.31\00:37:28.64 but there's dozens and dozens and dozens of apartments 00:37:28.68\00:37:31.65 where people stay with their families. 00:37:31.68\00:37:33.15 You can go out there and still see 00:37:33.18\00:37:34.78 and always clothes hanging 00:37:34.82\00:37:36.18 on the line and all kinds of stuff. 00:37:36.22\00:37:38.92 They have a bookstore there. They have a health food store. 00:37:38.95\00:37:42.89 They've got a school, with 100 and some odd students. 00:37:42.92\00:37:45.86 That was fun to visit the school, wasn't it? 00:37:45.89\00:37:47.96 Saying, Jesus loves me with my kids, that was fun. 00:37:48.00\00:37:50.30 Yeah. Yeah. 00:37:50.33\00:37:51.67 All of that in this one facility. 00:37:51.70\00:37:54.70 And so... 00:37:54.74\00:37:56.17 But the vision that they have, 00:37:56.20\00:37:58.54 once they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, 00:37:58.57\00:38:01.68 they want to share that with those around them. 00:38:01.71\00:38:03.88 They didn't take the gospel for granted. 00:38:03.91\00:38:07.05 When people... 00:38:07.08\00:38:08.65 The Carter meetings were over, they never had a Bible. 00:38:08.68\00:38:11.92 When we handed them out, we have video of these folks, 00:38:11.95\00:38:15.12 literally grabbing the Bibles. 00:38:15.16\00:38:16.89 Some of them would lay prostate right on the ground, 00:38:16.93\00:38:21.03 some on the concrete, 00:38:21.06\00:38:22.40 some would just hold them to their chest, 00:38:22.43\00:38:23.97 others would go in the grass. 00:38:24.00\00:38:25.33 They didn't leave the Sports Center, 00:38:25.37\00:38:27.94 they were started reading right then, 00:38:27.97\00:38:29.87 tears would be flowing because all of their lives, 00:38:29.90\00:38:33.24 they nor their parents, 00:38:33.27\00:38:34.61 even their grandparents 00:38:34.64\00:38:35.98 had ever been able to own a Bible 00:38:36.01\00:38:38.08 and now they had their own in their own Russian language. 00:38:38.11\00:38:41.32 And so it's just Julia, all of you, the whole crew. 00:38:41.35\00:38:46.45 Thank you so much for what you do 00:38:46.49\00:38:49.02 for the cause of God. 00:38:49.06\00:38:50.39 We couldn't do it from here. 00:38:50.43\00:38:51.99 The other thing 00:38:52.03\00:38:53.36 that we need to acknowledge was, 00:38:53.40\00:38:54.73 when we got off the plane, Julia told us now. 00:38:54.76\00:38:59.47 "Don't worry about Angela, 00:38:59.50\00:39:00.84 she's just here on the side 00:39:00.87\00:39:02.90 and she's just going to be taking pictures 00:39:02.94\00:39:04.87 and don't worry about that." 00:39:04.91\00:39:06.41 And at the end of the trip, 00:39:06.44\00:39:09.84 to me this was one of the most touching things. 00:39:09.88\00:39:13.38 Angela gave us, all of us an individual, 00:39:13.42\00:39:17.92 a customized album. 00:39:17.95\00:39:19.85 Jill, you brought yours, tell them that. 00:39:19.89\00:39:21.69 I did, I brought mine, but... 00:39:21.72\00:39:23.06 It is beautiful. 00:39:23.09\00:39:24.43 They stayed up, I think five of them, 00:39:24.46\00:39:25.79 stayed up through the night, the night before we left. 00:39:25.83\00:39:29.00 Night, all night. 00:41:49.50\00:41:51.64 well, we didn't do too much for hospitality. 00:41:51.67\00:41:54.48 They tell us, we're returning 00:41:54.51\00:41:56.34 for what you Americans came over here 00:41:56.38\00:41:58.55 and the rest of the world as they gave, 00:41:58.58\00:42:00.45 what you did for us and to introducing us to Jesus. 00:42:00.48\00:42:04.29 Gene and Pat McClintock, they were never paid. 00:42:04.32\00:42:08.46 Yet, they have made, they've 20 some trips. 00:42:08.49\00:42:10.83 Gene has held, probably a dozen, 00:42:10.86\00:42:12.99 maybe more evangelistic series of his own, 00:42:13.03\00:42:16.60 would go over there because he works, 00:42:16.63\00:42:18.30 he was working there in the summer time, 00:42:18.33\00:42:20.04 he does insulation and all. 00:42:20.07\00:42:21.64 In the winter, 00:42:21.67\00:42:23.00 when it's brutally cold in Russia, 00:42:23.04\00:42:24.94 they would go in the winter and spend two or three months 00:42:24.97\00:42:27.84 holding evangelistic series, 00:42:27.88\00:42:29.51 getting to know people individually 00:42:29.54\00:42:32.05 and leading them to Jesus. 00:42:32.08\00:42:34.25 And this time Gene was there, they're still people, 00:42:34.28\00:42:36.99 he had to go visit some church, 00:42:37.02\00:42:38.45 he got to go visit some churches. 00:42:38.49\00:42:40.29 They actually raised the money through 3ABN new, 00:42:40.32\00:42:43.59 there's churches there, 00:42:43.63\00:42:45.13 now new churches or other churches, 00:42:45.16\00:42:47.60 even home churches that we, house, 00:42:47.63\00:42:49.90 that we built church in, 00:42:49.93\00:42:51.40 that, because of their work 00:42:51.43\00:42:53.03 and they cared enough about people. 00:42:53.07\00:42:55.54 But when I go there and I see people 00:42:55.57\00:42:57.21 like Alexander, Alexander. 00:42:57.24\00:42:59.64 She was, she was in the back. 00:42:59.67\00:43:01.14 When I went there, literally in 1992, 00:43:01.18\00:43:04.78 and then we purchased a facility, 00:43:04.81\00:43:06.75 a month or two later, I went back and there were, 00:43:06.78\00:43:09.98 they didn't have extension ladder, 00:43:10.02\00:43:11.92 so you're looking at tool... 00:43:11.95\00:43:13.72 Well, at the top of the studio 00:43:13.76\00:43:15.32 was a good two storey's high and more 00:43:15.36\00:43:18.63 and they were eight volunteers on top of the roof 00:43:18.66\00:43:22.53 and they made ladders 00:43:22.56\00:43:23.90 out of saplings and roped them together. 00:43:23.93\00:43:26.53 Oh, my goodness. 00:43:26.57\00:43:27.90 And I went up there and these ladders 00:43:27.94\00:43:29.27 would do this, 00:43:29.30\00:43:30.64 probably 25, 30 feet in the air and Alexander was one of those. 00:43:30.67\00:43:34.24 And Vera who is now passed along, 00:43:34.28\00:43:36.14 they were volunteering, 00:43:36.18\00:43:37.51 they were already Adventist 00:43:37.55\00:43:38.95 who were so happy that all these baptisms that... 00:43:38.98\00:43:42.15 Now there was going to be a facility 00:43:42.18\00:43:44.22 that would be their own for the church, 00:43:44.25\00:43:46.39 from the church that they could come to. 00:43:46.42\00:43:49.02 They were volunteering. 00:43:49.06\00:43:50.39 These women, they weren't young, 00:43:50.43\00:43:52.79 even then, were climbing up 00:43:52.83\00:43:55.30 and up their hand chiseling holes 00:43:55.33\00:43:57.73 'cause they needed some holes in a roof, 00:43:57.77\00:43:59.53 hand working day after day. 00:43:59.57\00:44:01.34 And when you see that dedication, 00:44:01.37\00:44:03.34 they literally, church members would line up. 00:44:03.37\00:44:05.47 I think we have video of that, 00:44:05.51\00:44:06.98 50, 60, 100 at a time and hand one brick at a time. 00:44:07.01\00:44:11.61 And yet, there's millions of bricks in there. 00:44:11.65\00:44:13.82 When I say millions, I'm not exaggerating 00:44:13.85\00:44:16.22 because each of the walls 00:44:16.25\00:44:17.85 that you see is not just a row here 00:44:17.89\00:44:19.22 and a row there, 00:44:19.25\00:44:20.59 sometimes there's two or three rows 00:44:20.62\00:44:21.96 in between all the way up. 00:44:21.99\00:44:23.53 So these walls are this thick. 00:44:23.56\00:44:25.63 And so there's literally millions of brick 00:44:25.66\00:44:28.23 and we didn't have the equipment to do it. 00:44:28.26\00:44:30.57 They start out, and would hand these bricks. 00:44:30.60\00:44:32.53 So they're working together, all of us, one brick at a time. 00:44:32.57\00:44:36.27 You hand it and we hand to them, 00:44:36.30\00:44:38.54 they hand us, we're doing it, 00:44:38.57\00:44:40.34 we, us together working together. 00:44:40.38\00:44:43.08 Not only the facility 00:44:43.11\00:44:44.45 but what the facility represents is that, 00:44:44.48\00:44:47.78 and I wish the Russia Christian Cultural Center there. 00:44:47.82\00:44:53.76 3ABN center could be an example to the rest of the world. 00:44:53.79\00:44:57.79 I wish we work together. 00:44:57.83\00:44:59.16 You got church, you got laity, you got the schools, 00:44:59.19\00:45:01.36 you got the, you know, the centers, 00:45:01.40\00:45:03.06 you got the conference, you got literally the studios. 00:45:03.10\00:45:05.93 Everybody working together 00:45:05.97\00:45:07.44 and believe it or not they get along. 00:45:07.47\00:45:09.37 Isn't that amazing? 00:45:09.40\00:45:10.74 Believe it or not they get along. 00:45:10.77\00:45:12.31 And, but that's God 00:45:12.34\00:45:14.24 because they see 00:45:14.28\00:45:16.61 and to the folk who didn't get to worship God, 00:45:16.64\00:45:20.78 now appreciate so much 00:45:20.82\00:45:22.85 that they have the freedom to do it. 00:45:22.88\00:45:24.55 They're going to make sure everybody 00:45:24.59\00:45:26.79 that they can contact in the world 00:45:26.82\00:45:29.26 has the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ 00:45:29.29\00:45:31.66 and accept Him as Lord and Savior of their life. 00:45:31.69\00:45:35.43 Now, the transition of time, 00:45:35.46\00:45:38.47 sometimes eight or nine hour's difference, 00:45:38.50\00:45:41.00 gets you so, we didn't get to sleep all night. 00:45:41.04\00:45:43.47 But my little room, they put... 00:45:43.51\00:45:45.87 When we started I said keep one room 00:45:45.91\00:45:47.71 so the Americans, when we come, Pat and Gene, John, and Janice, 00:45:47.74\00:45:51.65 whoever's there, they could stay in, 00:45:51.68\00:45:53.75 Elder Carter if we needed too, 00:45:53.78\00:45:55.35 but that's right next door the gymnasium. 00:45:55.38\00:45:57.79 So when it was late at night, I couldn't sleep, 00:45:57.82\00:46:00.76 I got to go over but... 00:46:00.79\00:46:02.46 She came over with a little bit, 00:46:02.49\00:46:04.46 with iPhone and took some video. 00:46:04.49\00:46:06.33 We got Gene up there, he was playing basketball, 00:46:06.36\00:46:09.10 even got her playing basket ball up there. 00:46:09.13\00:46:12.07 I didn't know she's that good. 00:46:12.10\00:46:14.00 I didn't know she's that good, 00:46:14.04\00:46:15.37 but I, she stayed in the women's... 00:46:15.40\00:46:16.74 No, that's being very kind. 00:46:16.77\00:46:18.37 You can try for the women's NBA team. 00:46:18.41\00:46:20.51 Oh! 00:46:20.54\00:46:22.04 No, I just said you could try out. 00:46:22.08\00:46:23.41 Oh, you know, what? That was a good... 00:46:23.45\00:46:25.98 That was a good choice of words. 00:46:26.01\00:46:27.35 But I'm trying to make a point that, 00:46:27.38\00:46:28.72 that we all were out there playing late at night. 00:46:28.75\00:46:32.09 And sometimes our timings off... 00:46:32.12\00:46:35.36 You know, Danny, 00:46:35.39\00:46:36.73 I don't want to miss this opportunity. 00:46:36.76\00:46:39.26 The... 00:46:39.29\00:46:40.63 As the viewers, as they're watching this, 00:46:40.66\00:46:42.40 you're hearing our excitement 00:46:42.43\00:46:43.77 and all of what we've captured while we were there. 00:46:43.80\00:46:46.63 But I think this is a huge opportunity for us 00:46:46.67\00:46:49.77 to understand that God gives these... 00:46:49.80\00:46:53.88 He gave you the vision. 00:46:53.91\00:46:56.85 And there was no way that you could have imagined 00:46:56.88\00:46:59.81 how huge it could have, this was going to turn out. 00:46:59.85\00:47:03.32 But the Bible says that, 00:47:03.35\00:47:05.42 "with men, these things are impossible 00:47:05.45\00:47:08.19 but with God, nothing is impossible." 00:47:08.22\00:47:09.62 That's right. 00:47:09.66\00:47:10.99 And so I think that as much as we've heard that there, 00:47:11.03\00:47:14.53 we are born with a God shaped hole 00:47:14.56\00:47:16.97 in our hearts where, 00:47:17.00\00:47:18.33 you know, only God will fill that. 00:47:18.37\00:47:19.70 I believe that God gives us a God shaped vision. 00:47:19.73\00:47:23.54 Each one of us have something, 00:47:23.57\00:47:26.71 you know, it doesn't have to be 00:47:26.74\00:47:28.68 as grand as Russian vision like this, 00:47:28.71\00:47:31.55 but it could be something that you can 00:47:31.58\00:47:33.08 even actually speak the language, you know. 00:47:33.11\00:47:35.62 But I believe that we need to pray 00:47:35.65\00:47:38.75 for that opportunity that God is, 00:47:38.79\00:47:42.22 just... I know my take away. 00:47:42.26\00:47:43.83 What I came home with was the fact that 00:47:43.86\00:47:46.33 I was guilty, 00:47:46.36\00:47:47.70 have been guilty the past few years 00:47:47.73\00:47:49.60 of letting my God be too small 00:47:49.63\00:47:53.23 and there's a great chorus that says, 00:47:53.27\00:47:57.04 "I have made you too small in my eyes, 00:47:57.07\00:47:58.91 so Lord forgive me. 00:47:58.94\00:48:00.28 Where I have believed in a lie 00:48:00.31\00:48:01.64 that you were unable to help me, 00:48:01.68\00:48:04.38 but now I see the error of my ways." 00:48:04.41\00:48:07.72 And then the chorus says, 00:48:07.75\00:48:09.45 "Be magnified, oh Lord, you are highly exalted." 00:48:09.48\00:48:12.55 So I want that to be my prayer, be magnified God. 00:48:12.59\00:48:15.42 And don't let me be afraid to step out in faith 00:48:15.46\00:48:19.03 because without faith it is impossible. 00:48:19.06\00:48:21.10 So, and so I just... 00:48:21.13\00:48:23.97 I want us to capture that element. 00:48:24.00\00:48:26.40 You know, it's not an... 00:48:26.43\00:48:28.00 It doesn't have a big picture of you 00:48:28.04\00:48:29.67 on the front of it, on the building, 00:48:29.70\00:48:31.91 you know, does it over there in Russia, 00:48:31.94\00:48:33.51 but it is truly because you followed God. 00:48:33.54\00:48:36.68 I mean, again I want to build a tiny house 00:48:36.71\00:48:40.28 with somebody that, you know, can speak English. 00:48:40.32\00:48:42.52 I can't imagine going over to some place that, 00:48:42.55\00:48:44.95 where I couldn't even speak the language. 00:48:44.99\00:48:46.72 And then as we're talking about the equipment 00:48:46.76\00:48:49.52 that they use to do the programming, 00:48:49.56\00:48:51.49 the tools that they used to build a building, 00:48:51.53\00:48:53.56 every odd was against you. 00:48:53.60\00:48:55.90 I mean, the odds were insurmountable, 00:48:55.93\00:48:58.87 but not with God. 00:48:58.90\00:49:00.24 And that's the God we serve. 00:49:00.27\00:49:01.80 He's the one who gives you that vision and it's... 00:49:01.84\00:49:05.27 He's able to do it. 00:49:05.31\00:49:06.64 He's just looking for somebody 00:49:06.68\00:49:08.01 who's willing to follow through with it. 00:49:08.04\00:49:09.54 So be encouraged and dream big 00:49:09.58\00:49:12.85 and don't let any anybody tell you 00:49:12.88\00:49:15.38 that it's impossible, 00:49:15.42\00:49:16.75 because with God nothing is impossible. 00:49:16.79\00:49:18.75 And if I could encourage folk, is, 00:49:18.79\00:49:21.96 because you don't have to see the end of the vision. 00:49:21.99\00:49:25.23 When you look at the end of the vision, 00:49:25.26\00:49:26.80 it will tell you don't do it. 00:49:26.83\00:49:28.76 If I could have, would have known 00:49:28.80\00:49:30.67 how much money it really was going to take 00:49:30.70\00:49:33.13 and how much time and how many years to do that, 00:49:33.17\00:49:36.40 I would have been discouraged. 00:49:36.44\00:49:38.14 But all I knew at the time, there was the building, 00:49:38.17\00:49:40.98 it opened up 150,000 and then as we said, 00:49:41.01\00:49:44.51 millions of brick, one at a time. 00:49:44.55\00:49:46.82 And so volunteers began to show up. 00:49:46.85\00:49:49.22 The Lord brought the right people 00:49:49.25\00:49:50.99 at the right time. 00:49:51.02\00:49:52.35 So I didn't really know where it was going, 00:49:52.39\00:49:54.86 but I knew that's what God said to do at that time 00:49:54.89\00:49:58.36 and same way with 3ABN in general. 00:49:58.39\00:50:00.70 If I hadn't known the responsibility 00:50:00.73\00:50:02.90 and all that would be involved, 00:50:02.93\00:50:04.27 I'm sure I would have been discouraged 00:50:04.30\00:50:05.63 and said that's impossible. 00:50:05.67\00:50:07.00 So when you have a vision... 00:50:07.04\00:50:08.70 Tim's talking about a vision, 00:50:08.74\00:50:10.31 you just take one step at a time, 00:50:10.34\00:50:11.84 the blessing of the Lord is on the go. 00:50:11.87\00:50:14.31 And so when he says, "Go, ye into all the world," 00:50:14.34\00:50:16.75 You don't have to jump around the whole world 00:50:16.78\00:50:18.75 or fly the whole world at once, 00:50:18.78\00:50:20.18 just take a step, just take a step 00:50:20.22\00:50:22.72 and He'll lead you, He'll guide you, 00:50:22.75\00:50:24.12 He'll let you know if that's what you're supposed to do. 00:50:24.15\00:50:26.92 He will send people in your life 00:50:26.96\00:50:29.46 that will do what you couldn't do. 00:50:29.49\00:50:31.56 God surrounded us with people 00:50:31.59\00:50:33.40 there in Russia 00:50:33.43\00:50:34.96 that could do what I couldn't do. 00:50:35.00\00:50:36.67 As soon as I met Julia, I knew I could trust her. 00:50:36.70\00:50:39.73 And 25 years later, I trust her with my life. 00:50:39.77\00:50:43.47 And speaking that, before we close 00:50:43.51\00:50:45.27 we got to say hello to Julia's mother. 00:50:45.31\00:50:47.34 Yes! Yes! 00:50:47.38\00:50:48.71 And so, I mean, this is Yvonne Itchka. 00:50:48.74\00:50:51.11 Is that how you say? 00:50:51.15\00:50:52.48 That's my new nickname, Yvonne Itchka. 00:50:52.51\00:50:54.52 Yvonne Itchka. 00:50:54.55\00:50:55.88 She was... She was so precious. 00:50:55.92\00:50:57.49 She was just, I just loved meeting her. 00:50:57.52\00:51:00.09 Oh, she was just precious. 00:51:00.12\00:51:02.09 When you meet Julia's mother, she's an M.D. wonderful woman. 00:51:02.12\00:51:05.59 You see where Julia and her son Boris, 00:51:05.63\00:51:08.66 you know, really got that drive to want to be successful, 00:51:08.70\00:51:13.44 to want to do the best they could do, 00:51:13.47\00:51:15.27 whatever they were doing put all their might into it. 00:51:15.30\00:51:19.87 And so, it's so neat, 00:51:19.91\00:51:21.24 we got to go meet her 00:51:21.28\00:51:22.61 and she came downstairs and talked to us 00:51:22.64\00:51:23.98 and we got to hug 00:51:24.01\00:51:25.35 and so she called her Yvonne Itchka, 00:51:25.38\00:51:27.22 which Julia says that's a great compliment. 00:51:27.25\00:51:29.68 That was so precious. And for her. 00:51:29.72\00:51:31.35 But... 00:51:31.39\00:51:32.72 Go ahead. 00:51:32.75\00:51:34.09 I just also think that the team there 00:51:34.12\00:51:37.63 with Julia and Alexi, 00:51:37.66\00:51:39.96 you know, they just really make such a huge difference, 00:51:40.00\00:51:44.73 because they work as a family like we do. 00:51:44.77\00:51:46.94 That's right. 00:51:46.97\00:51:48.30 And then with the viewers responding to the need... 00:51:48.34\00:51:52.17 I mean, we couldn't do it 00:51:52.21\00:51:53.54 if the viewers hadn't responded to the need. 00:51:53.58\00:51:55.24 So it's such a cooperative effort. 00:51:55.28\00:51:58.15 You know, and I was just thrilled to be there 00:51:58.18\00:52:00.72 and thankful for our Russian family. 00:52:00.75\00:52:03.55 Absolutely. 00:52:03.59\00:52:05.02 We're gonna have to take a short news break 00:52:05.05\00:52:06.92 and then we'll come back. 00:52:06.96\00:52:08.29 We'll have about a minute 00:52:08.32\00:52:09.66 or so, we'll let you be thinking about it, 00:52:09.69\00:52:11.03 anybody has a closing thought. 00:52:11.06\00:52:12.73 So we're gonna go on the news break, 00:52:12.76\00:52:14.16 we'll be back in just a moment. 00:52:14.20\00:52:15.60
