Gracias. 00:09:27.80\00:09:29.13 What we'd like to hear first 00:09:29.16\00:09:32.87 is a little personal background. 00:09:32.90\00:09:35.97 Tim, did you grow up in a Christian home? 00:09:36.00\00:09:39.51 Tell us a little of your life. 00:09:39.54\00:09:41.41 Yes, my father was a pastor in the Michigan conference 00:09:41.44\00:09:44.31 for many years. 00:09:44.35\00:09:45.68 Ted Rasmussen, he's passed away. 00:09:45.71\00:09:47.05 Okay. But I grew up... 00:09:47.08\00:09:48.42 So he was a Seventh-day Adventist Christian? 00:09:48.45\00:09:49.78 Yes, he was, and my grandfather 00:09:49.82\00:09:51.79 was an Adventist Evangelist, Grant Hosford in the Ohio 00:09:51.82\00:09:56.42 and Michigan conferences for many years. 00:09:56.46\00:09:59.09 And so I grew up going to Adventist schools, 00:09:59.13\00:10:02.36 and my family moved all over in Michigan, 00:10:02.40\00:10:06.94 but I attended Andrew's University, 00:10:06.97\00:10:08.67 and then after that, 00:10:08.70\00:10:10.04 I went to the University of Michigan. 00:10:10.07\00:10:11.97 I got a master's degree in social work there 00:10:12.01\00:10:13.91 and worked for a while for the state of Michigan. 00:10:13.94\00:10:16.54 And then I worked for seven years 00:10:16.58\00:10:17.91 at Loma Linda University 00:10:17.95\00:10:19.45 in the Medical Center in California. 00:10:19.48\00:10:21.82 And then I went back to school. 00:10:21.85\00:10:23.18 In my second life, 00:10:23.22\00:10:24.55 I became a lawyer while I worked in, 00:10:24.59\00:10:25.92 I went to Georgia State University in Atlanta, 00:10:25.95\00:10:28.66 and I was in private practice in North Carolina 00:10:28.69\00:10:31.33 and Georgia for about 15 years, 00:10:31.36\00:10:33.93 and then I moved to Washington State 00:10:33.96\00:10:35.43 to be near my family, 00:10:35.46\00:10:36.80 and my wife's family was out there. 00:10:36.83\00:10:38.97 And for the last 10 years, 00:10:39.00\00:10:40.54 I've been the elected prosecutor 00:10:40.57\00:10:42.27 of the district attorney for Stevens County, Washington 00:10:42.30\00:10:45.47 which is my present job. 00:10:45.51\00:10:47.74 That's what I do for a living. 00:10:47.78\00:10:49.28 But what I do for life is I work with Water for Life 00:10:49.31\00:10:53.82 with Berny Leonardo and other people, 00:10:53.85\00:10:56.15 bringing water to the people in rural areas of Guatemala, 00:10:56.18\00:10:59.95 and it's a wonderful thing to do. 00:10:59.99\00:11:02.56 You know, anybody who knows the responsibility 00:11:02.59\00:11:08.50 of your elected position knows 00:11:08.53\00:11:11.30 that you don't have just a whole lot of time, 00:11:11.33\00:11:13.64 but I just want you to know, no matter what you do, 00:11:13.67\00:11:16.40 you can do some thing for the Lord, 00:11:16.44\00:11:19.21 and we're going to get into the story 00:11:19.24\00:11:21.11 of what this wonderful ministry does. 00:11:21.14\00:11:24.71 And thank you so much 00:11:24.75\00:11:26.51 that you've got a heart for the Lord, 00:11:26.55\00:11:27.95 but it sounds like this is something that 00:11:27.98\00:11:30.95 as you grew up, what I am curious, 00:11:30.99\00:11:34.09 you're having all these good seed planted in you, 00:11:34.12\00:11:37.59 but at what age did your personal relationship 00:11:37.63\00:11:41.90 with the Lord become real to you? 00:11:41.93\00:11:46.57 When I was a young man, 00:11:46.60\00:11:48.24 I was not particularly interested in things, 00:11:48.27\00:11:53.27 maybe it was because I was a pastor's kid, 00:11:53.31\00:11:55.31 I'm not sure. 00:11:55.34\00:11:56.71 But when I became about 30, I was about 30, 00:11:56.75\00:11:59.85 I began to feel that I was an adult. 00:11:59.88\00:12:02.82 And at that time, I began to get more interested 00:12:02.85\00:12:05.85 in spiritual things, 00:12:05.89\00:12:07.72 and the Lord wouldn't let me go. 00:12:07.76\00:12:11.09 He's been chasing me. Amen. 00:12:11.13\00:12:12.93 And through the work of Water for Life 00:12:12.96\00:12:15.40 and also my friend Berny in the last, 00:12:15.43\00:12:17.73 probably 20 years, 00:12:17.77\00:12:19.13 I've gotten more and more sensitive to the Lord. 00:12:19.17\00:12:23.24 And I'm trying to do... 00:12:23.27\00:12:25.01 Maybe, I'm trying to make up for lost time. 00:12:25.04\00:12:27.68 We don't have a lot of time but... 00:12:27.71\00:12:29.34 That's true. That's true. 00:12:29.38\00:12:30.81 Water for Life is a way to do that, 00:12:30.85\00:12:33.05 and a way to bring people closer to the Lord, 00:12:33.08\00:12:35.28 and that's what I want to do. 00:12:35.32\00:12:36.69 Praise God. 00:12:36.72\00:12:38.05 So, Berny, tell us, you grew up in Guatemala. 00:12:38.09\00:12:42.72 I did. Was it a Christian home? 00:12:42.76\00:12:45.36 We were from no denominations. Okay. 00:12:45.39\00:12:49.80 Even my grandfather was kind of a little witch, you know. 00:12:49.83\00:12:55.80 So Seventh-day Adventist messengers 00:12:55.84\00:13:01.14 came in to Puerto Barrios. 00:13:01.18\00:13:05.15 Then they went to my grandfather's home. 00:13:05.18\00:13:08.82 And he was a witch? Yeah. 00:13:08.85\00:13:11.25 And they opened their homes for them. 00:13:11.29\00:13:15.06 Then they started to do evangelism work, 00:13:15.09\00:13:19.36 and my mother and some other sisters, 00:13:19.39\00:13:22.36 brothers started to attend the meetings. 00:13:22.40\00:13:26.33 But one of my uncles used to pedal for half a day to go 00:13:26.37\00:13:31.34 and bring the missionaries, and take them to their home, 00:13:31.37\00:13:35.84 and bring them back. 00:13:35.88\00:13:38.45 So it started that they were interested in the message. 00:13:38.48\00:13:44.35 Then they grew up. Some were baptized. 00:13:44.39\00:13:48.96 But my dad was not a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:13:48.99\00:13:51.79 He was no Christian. 00:13:51.83\00:13:57.47 So my mother kept that little message in her heart, 00:13:57.50\00:14:02.40 and, you know, water it, water it, 00:14:02.44\00:14:07.48 and she used to send us to church. 00:14:07.51\00:14:10.11 She didn't go. She used to send us to church. 00:14:10.15\00:14:13.82 So finally, I grew up in the Seventh-day Adventist 00:14:13.85\00:14:18.82 from six years up. 00:14:18.85\00:14:22.62 But my interests were not so strictly going to church. 00:14:22.66\00:14:28.46 We move on to another place where we had to walk 00:14:28.50\00:14:32.50 for three miles to go to church. 00:14:32.53\00:14:36.17 It was fun, walking to church three miles back and forth. 00:14:36.20\00:14:41.14 Then they send me to a Christian school, 00:14:41.18\00:14:44.68 and I learnt more about the Lord, 00:14:44.71\00:14:46.92 and finally, I accepted him. 00:14:46.95\00:14:50.49 Praise God. Here we are. 00:14:50.52\00:14:53.69 Afterwards, I went on to college, 00:14:53.72\00:14:57.76 and we came back, 00:14:57.79\00:14:59.59 worked with the associations, continued to study, 00:14:59.63\00:15:06.23 went back to Panama, was there working. 00:15:06.27\00:15:09.27 My wife used to work in Costa Rica also. 00:15:09.30\00:15:12.74 We have three kids, nice kids. 00:15:12.77\00:15:16.21 And we try to set them in the way to Lord. 00:15:16.24\00:15:19.71 Praise the Lord. Then they stick to it a little. 00:15:19.75\00:15:23.02 We hope they would never lose it. 00:15:23.05\00:15:24.95 Amen. 00:15:24.99\00:15:26.32 But when we were there at a Seventh-day Adventist academy 00:15:26.35\00:15:30.79 we used to get water from a river. 00:15:30.83\00:15:34.90 At the beginning, you used to go 00:15:34.93\00:15:37.53 and drink the water. 00:15:37.57\00:15:38.90 It was safe. 00:15:38.93\00:15:40.27 But, you know, people started to go around, 00:15:40.30\00:15:44.11 and inhabitant, 00:15:44.14\00:15:47.18 and there is an orphanage close by it too, 00:15:47.21\00:15:50.95 and the same source of water was there. 00:15:50.98\00:15:55.08 But we got some visits from good hearted people, 00:15:55.12\00:16:01.12 and some of them got sick, and we got sick too. 00:16:01.16\00:16:05.69 From drinking the water from the river? 00:16:05.73\00:16:07.90 Yeah. 00:16:07.93\00:16:09.26 It's an open river, anything goes in. 00:16:09.30\00:16:12.77 And from there, the Lord sent good man 00:16:12.80\00:16:17.84 and good families and He tied us. 00:16:17.87\00:16:23.48 So, Tim, take us to connect to this story, 00:16:23.51\00:16:27.95 and tell us about the gentlemen 00:16:27.98\00:16:29.35 who actually began Water for Life 00:16:29.38\00:16:31.45 and how you became interested? 00:16:31.49\00:16:33.62 Gary Bartholomew is the founder of Water for Life, 00:16:33.66\00:16:36.32 and he became interested in providing water 00:16:36.36\00:16:39.46 for the school and orphanage 00:16:39.49\00:16:40.96 in the Peten region, Poptun, Guatemala 00:16:41.00\00:16:43.33 is where the school is and the orphanage. 00:16:43.37\00:16:46.03 And Gary had adopted a child 00:16:46.07\00:16:47.80 from this orphanage about 30 years ago now. 00:16:47.84\00:16:51.14 Meaning that he was sponsoring the child that he actually... 00:16:51.17\00:16:54.18 He adopted the child. Actually, adopted, oh, oh. 00:16:54.21\00:16:57.08 Brought her to Washington State, 00:16:57.11\00:16:59.01 and raised her. 00:16:59.05\00:17:00.38 She's a good Christian girl. Wonderful. 00:17:00.42\00:17:02.65 And he maintained an interest in that orphanage and school. 00:17:02.68\00:17:07.82 And as Berny mentioned, 00:17:07.86\00:17:09.96 they were depending on river water, 00:17:09.99\00:17:12.36 they just had a submersible pump in the river, 00:17:12.39\00:17:15.63 and the water became more and more contaminated 00:17:15.66\00:17:18.43 as years went by, and some people got sick, 00:17:18.47\00:17:22.57 almost died from amoeba and parasites in the water. 00:17:22.60\00:17:27.38 And Gary determined 00:17:27.41\00:17:28.74 that he would do something about this. 00:17:28.78\00:17:31.08 Gary is from a well drilling family. 00:17:31.11\00:17:32.91 His father owned 00:17:32.95\00:17:34.28 Gary Bartholomew Pump Well Service in Washington, 00:17:34.32\00:17:37.35 there in Spokane for a long time. 00:17:37.39\00:17:39.72 And Gary was familiar with this. 00:17:39.75\00:17:42.86 And so he began to try to do something to help these people 00:17:42.89\00:17:46.56 get clean water. 00:17:46.59\00:17:47.93 He, first of all, 00:17:47.96\00:17:49.30 hired a Guatemalan well drilling company, 00:17:49.33\00:17:51.30 spent a lot of money, 00:17:51.33\00:17:53.07 was unsuccessful, and took many months, 00:17:53.10\00:17:56.24 and was basically didn't produce anything to help. 00:17:56.27\00:18:00.28 So Gary put an ad in the 00:18:00.31\00:18:02.71 Northwest Well Driller's Association magazine 00:18:02.74\00:18:06.35 and asked if someone would help. 00:18:06.38\00:18:09.08 A generous Mennonite family from Silverton, Oregon, 00:18:09.12\00:18:12.42 Stately and Sons called him and said, 00:18:12.45\00:18:14.92 "We have a drilling rig that you're welcome to." 00:18:14.96\00:18:18.69 And after checking it out and checking with him, 00:18:18.73\00:18:21.36 they refurbished this rig. 00:18:21.40\00:18:23.37 And Gary and some friends of his 00:18:23.40\00:18:25.43 and volunteers from the countryside church, 00:18:25.47\00:18:28.44 and Adventist church, there in Spokane 00:18:28.47\00:18:32.21 shipped the well drill down to Guatemala. 00:18:32.24\00:18:35.98 And I became aware of it. 00:18:36.01\00:18:37.61 I was preaching a sermon on religious liberty 00:18:37.65\00:18:40.85 there in that church, 00:18:40.88\00:18:42.22 and I heard Gary stood up and said, 00:18:42.25\00:18:44.72 "The drilling rig has been seen in the custom's yard 00:18:44.75\00:18:47.72 at Puerto Barrios," and it was general affirmation. 00:18:47.76\00:18:51.49 Praise the lord for that. 00:18:51.53\00:18:52.86 And afterwards I said, 00:18:52.89\00:18:54.23 "Gary, what are you talking about? 00:18:54.26\00:18:55.60 What is this about?" 00:18:55.63\00:18:57.00 And he told us about the need down there 00:18:57.03\00:18:59.77 and the drilling rig that had just been sent. 00:18:59.80\00:19:02.80 And I called my wife, 00:19:02.84\00:19:05.41 and she was in Seattle visiting her grandchild. 00:19:05.44\00:19:08.34 And I said, "Do you want to go to Guatemala?" 00:19:08.38\00:19:10.18 And she said, "Well, what for?" 00:19:10.21\00:19:13.98 Through that weekend, I convinced her that 00:19:14.02\00:19:15.65 we ought to go and just check it out. 00:19:15.68\00:19:18.09 And so we went down, and we're there 00:19:18.12\00:19:19.95 when the first wells were drilled 00:19:19.99\00:19:21.59 at the orphanage campus, and on the school campus, 00:19:21.62\00:19:25.73 and clean water was made available to those people. 00:19:25.76\00:19:29.26 And what year was this? 00:19:29.30\00:19:31.40 This would have been in 2003, I think, or 2004. 00:19:31.43\00:19:35.84 This is our 14th year that we've been down there. 00:19:35.87\00:19:38.84 And after we drilled that well, village people began to say, 00:19:38.87\00:19:44.01 "Well, why don't you come to our village and drill?" 00:19:44.05\00:19:46.35 And we had the drilling rig, 00:19:46.38\00:19:47.72 and pretty soon Gary was fully invested in doing 00:19:47.75\00:19:51.95 what we could for those people, 00:19:51.99\00:19:53.32 and I just stayed involved with it. 00:19:53.36\00:19:55.99 And through these last 14 years, 00:19:56.02\00:19:57.99 we've been drilling every year. 00:19:58.03\00:19:59.89 We drill from January through April. 00:19:59.93\00:20:02.56 All our drillers are volunteers from across the United States, 00:20:02.60\00:20:05.70 they're non-Adventists. 00:20:05.73\00:20:07.14 Some of them are nothing at all as far as religious people. 00:20:07.17\00:20:11.87 But they all have one thing in common. 00:20:11.91\00:20:13.64 They have a heart to help people. 00:20:13.68\00:20:15.08 Amen. 00:20:15.11\00:20:16.44 And they leave their businesses 00:20:16.48\00:20:18.18 and come to Guatemala at their own expense. 00:20:18.21\00:20:21.08 We provide drilling rigs. 00:20:21.12\00:20:22.92 We provide a place for them to stay, 00:20:22.95\00:20:25.39 and we provide villages that have needs, 00:20:25.42\00:20:28.62 and we turn them loose in these villages, 00:20:28.66\00:20:30.66 and they drill wells. 00:20:30.69\00:20:32.76 This year, we have completed our 100th well. 00:20:32.79\00:20:36.03 Glory to God. In the Poptun region there. 00:20:36.06\00:20:39.87 And by our calculation, which is probably not accurate, 00:20:39.90\00:20:44.21 but we have about 30,000 people that every day get clean water 00:20:44.24\00:20:48.74 as a result of the work of the Lord 00:20:48.78\00:20:51.38 that we are able to just help a little bit, 00:20:51.41\00:20:53.72 help Him do this. 00:20:53.75\00:20:55.08 Amen. And there is great need. 00:20:55.12\00:20:57.32 And Guatemala is a beautiful country. 00:20:57.35\00:20:59.15 It is beautiful. 00:20:59.19\00:21:00.52 But it's a very poor country 00:21:00.56\00:21:01.89 in the rural areas particularly. 00:21:01.92\00:21:03.93 So there is great need for clean water. 00:21:03.96\00:21:07.66 And as I said, we so take this for granted. 00:21:07.70\00:21:11.50 But when you go down there, 00:21:11.53\00:21:15.90 and you're drilling for these people... 00:21:15.94\00:21:17.51 I've got two questions, 00:21:17.54\00:21:18.87 so let me forget to ask you about your volunteers, 00:21:18.91\00:21:21.78 and how they end up being impacted by this. 00:21:21.81\00:21:24.81 But what do the people think? 00:21:24.85\00:21:28.62 How do they view you when you go into a village, 00:21:28.65\00:21:31.82 and you don't ask for any money but you're just there saying, 00:21:31.85\00:21:36.32 "Hey, we're here to provide clean water for you." 00:21:36.36\00:21:39.83 At first, they're a little suspicious. 00:21:39.86\00:21:42.23 "What are you doing?" 00:21:42.26\00:21:43.60 They think that we'll drill 00:21:43.63\00:21:44.97 and then charge them for the water later. 00:21:45.00\00:21:47.34 But it's a wonderful thing to be in the village 00:21:47.37\00:21:49.84 when the drill gets to the water. 00:21:49.87\00:21:54.08 The well comes in. Yes, it is. 00:21:54.11\00:21:55.78 And the people, 00:21:55.81\00:21:57.15 they are a little nervous at first, 00:21:57.18\00:21:59.25 but we usually put an electric pump down to test it, 00:21:59.28\00:22:02.58 run by a generator. 00:22:02.62\00:22:04.45 And they are sometimes a little nervous about it 00:22:04.49\00:22:07.72 but then we will drink the water, 00:22:07.76\00:22:09.86 and when they see the Gringo is drinking the water, 00:22:09.89\00:22:12.09 they know it's safe for them, and pretty soon, 00:22:12.13\00:22:14.60 they're just smiling, and a very happy time, 00:22:14.63\00:22:17.80 and then we install a hand pump 00:22:17.83\00:22:19.43 because these are villages with no power. 00:22:19.47\00:22:21.90 And they realize that the water is there, 00:22:21.94\00:22:25.51 and it's free, and it's just there. 00:22:25.54\00:22:28.14 And then they want to know, "Well, why do you come?" 00:22:28.18\00:22:31.41 And it's a natural platform for us to tell them, 00:22:31.45\00:22:33.75 "We come because we love you, 00:22:33.78\00:22:36.48 and we want to tell you about the love of God, 00:22:36.52\00:22:39.35 and that Jesus loves you." 00:22:39.39\00:22:41.22 And it opens the hearts of the people. 00:22:41.26\00:22:43.49 Berny? 00:22:43.53\00:22:45.19 It breaks down barriers, you know, 00:22:45.23\00:22:47.46 we have been conquered by Spaniards. 00:22:47.50\00:22:51.47 And that stays for generations. 00:22:51.50\00:22:55.60 And first when we used to go there, 00:22:55.64\00:22:59.01 they would just, the natives would just peek 00:22:59.04\00:23:00.98 between the cracks of their homes. 00:23:01.01\00:23:03.55 "Who are these persons?" 00:23:03.58\00:23:06.05 You know, and they are strangers. 00:23:06.08\00:23:07.88 "Well, what are they doing here?" 00:23:07.92\00:23:11.22 But afterwards, when we explain to them 00:23:11.25\00:23:14.06 what's happening, they would just come around, 00:23:14.09\00:23:17.19 and try to help, 00:23:17.23\00:23:19.83 and they would keep card on the machinery, 00:23:19.86\00:23:24.50 so not even a bolt would move away. 00:23:24.53\00:23:27.40 So it breaks down any barrier. Amen. 00:23:27.44\00:23:30.67 And so the platform for the Word of God to going. 00:23:30.71\00:23:34.24 And you are using it as a platform. 00:23:34.28\00:23:36.91 Not simply that you are providing clean water, 00:23:36.95\00:23:39.58 but now you have branched out into the Ministry of Health, 00:23:39.61\00:23:44.45 and evangelism, and baptisms. 00:23:44.49\00:23:47.12 Tell us how the ministry began to expand. 00:23:47.16\00:23:51.03 In our area, around Poptun, 00:23:54.80\00:23:56.77 there has been an Adventist presence there. 00:23:56.80\00:24:00.10 And of course, as we were drilling in villages, 00:24:00.14\00:24:02.50 we have partnered with several organizations, 00:24:02.54\00:24:05.54 Light Bearers has sent millions of pieces 00:24:05.57\00:24:08.04 of Spanish literature for us, and we distributed. 00:24:08.08\00:24:11.31 And we also sent medical workers 00:24:11.35\00:24:14.75 or dental workers to meet with villagers 00:24:14.78\00:24:17.92 while we are drilling the well. 00:24:17.95\00:24:19.75 And they know that it's Water for Life, 00:24:19.79\00:24:21.42 and we do basic medical care for them, 00:24:21.46\00:24:23.59 and pass out literature 00:24:23.63\00:24:26.73 while we are doing this at these well sites. 00:24:26.76\00:24:29.46 And sometimes, there is an interest that develops, 00:24:29.50\00:24:33.40 and then Water for Life will pay a Bible worker 00:24:33.44\00:24:36.17 to be there for a year in the village, 00:24:36.20\00:24:38.01 and work individually with people, 00:24:38.04\00:24:40.28 and tell them about the gospel of Jesus 00:24:40.31\00:24:45.38 and our Soon Coming Savior. 00:24:45.41\00:24:47.48 And the people are hungry for the message in Guatemala. 00:24:47.52\00:24:52.32 We pass out thousands of Bibles per year, 00:24:52.35\00:24:55.22 and Spanish Bibles that we get from Remnant Publishers 00:24:55.26\00:24:58.63 there in Michigan. 00:24:58.66\00:25:00.06 They give us a good price on these Bibles, 00:25:00.10\00:25:02.83 and Remnant Publications are all over Guatemala, 00:25:02.86\00:25:05.77 as the messages that we send that, 00:25:05.80\00:25:12.67 the people are like 00:25:12.71\00:25:14.48 they are thirsty for clean water, 00:25:14.51\00:25:16.24 they are thirsty for the word of God, 00:25:16.28\00:25:19.48 and people will stand in line to get literature 00:25:19.51\00:25:22.45 that we're passing out, and Bibles. 00:25:22.48\00:25:25.35 But the well, the well really provides a center 00:25:25.39\00:25:28.12 for the whole community. 00:25:28.16\00:25:31.13 When we come back a year later or two years later, 00:25:31.16\00:25:33.60 there is pathways like the spokes 00:25:33.63\00:25:35.53 of the wagon wheel that go out into the jungle 00:25:35.56\00:25:37.73 where people every day come for water. 00:25:37.77\00:25:40.30 And people walk two kilometers, three kilometers, miles. 00:25:40.34\00:25:44.71 There are villages that Berny knows 00:25:44.74\00:25:46.31 that people stand in line 00:25:46.34\00:25:48.24 all the night long to get to the pumps, 00:25:48.28\00:25:50.81 and to get their water, 00:25:50.85\00:25:52.18 and they take it home to their villages. 00:25:52.21\00:25:53.98 People, they are dying for the clean water. 00:25:54.02\00:25:57.62 I have seen villages where women are getting, 00:25:57.65\00:26:01.66 before we drill, women are getting water 00:26:01.69\00:26:04.33 from one side of a small pond, no larger than this room, 00:26:04.36\00:26:07.96 and cattle are standing in the water. 00:26:08.00\00:26:09.76 Oh, mercy. Oh, mercy. 00:26:09.80\00:26:11.83 And the children are sick. 00:26:11.87\00:26:13.74 And after we come there, things change. 00:26:13.77\00:26:17.67 We've gone back to a village after two years later 00:26:17.71\00:26:20.91 to see how things are going. 00:26:20.94\00:26:22.91 And a village elder would say, "This is the first year 00:26:22.94\00:26:27.12 that no children have died in our village." 00:26:27.15\00:26:29.15 Oh, glory to God. 00:26:29.18\00:26:31.02 Unsafe water is the largest killer of children 00:26:31.05\00:26:34.62 in undeveloped countries in the world. 00:26:34.66\00:26:37.39 And providing clean water is a way to change their lives, 00:26:37.43\00:26:42.26 and then providing the water of life, 00:26:42.30\00:26:44.30 living water changes their life too. 00:26:44.33\00:26:48.04 And we partnered with groups, 00:26:48.07\00:26:51.74 Amazing Facts has sent groups down, 00:26:51.77\00:26:54.94 The Quiet Hour has sent groups down, 00:26:54.98\00:26:56.71 and they constrict churches, 00:26:56.75\00:26:58.51 Upper Columbia conference's volunteers go down. 00:26:58.55\00:27:01.52 We have aided in the construction 00:27:01.55\00:27:03.28 of 14 churches in our area, 00:27:03.32\00:27:06.35 and these churches are bursting with people. 00:27:06.39\00:27:09.26 And we really praise the Lord for that. 00:27:09.29\00:27:12.59 It's the Lord's business. I say we do Water for Life. 00:27:12.63\00:27:15.46 This is the work of the Lord. Absolutely. 00:27:15.50\00:27:17.77 We just help a little bit if we can. 00:27:17.80\00:27:19.37 We understand that completely. I know you do. 00:27:19.40\00:27:22.74 If you want to be happy, you have to make someone happy. 00:27:22.77\00:27:26.64 That's right. That will bless you. 00:27:26.68\00:27:28.54 And whenever you invest with the Lord, 00:27:28.58\00:27:30.75 you're not losing. 00:27:30.78\00:27:32.11 That's exactly right. 00:27:32.15\00:27:33.68 He who gives to the poor, lends to the suffering, 00:27:33.72\00:27:38.02 so you have a check to collect from the suffering, you know. 00:27:38.05\00:27:41.76 When drillers go down, 00:27:41.79\00:27:43.32 when voluntary people goes down, 00:27:43.36\00:27:45.73 they are more blessed. 00:27:45.76\00:27:48.16 In times when these drillers go down, 00:27:48.20\00:27:53.77 they say, "The work is so hard 00:27:53.80\00:27:56.30 that we don't have much income right now." 00:27:56.34\00:28:00.44 When they go back, 00:28:00.48\00:28:02.48 and even this great man that's here, 00:28:02.51\00:28:08.32 when they come back, they have triple blessings. 00:28:08.35\00:28:13.29 I have asked every one of them, they say, 00:28:13.32\00:28:15.79 "The Lord has been so good to us." 00:28:15.82\00:28:18.46 So there's two things. 00:28:18.49\00:28:20.33 I want to come back and ask you about 00:28:20.36\00:28:21.96 the population of Guatemala. 00:28:22.00\00:28:26.30 But while we are talking about your workers, 00:28:26.33\00:28:29.57 you said many of them come, not all of them are Christians, 00:28:29.60\00:28:34.34 not all of the Christians are Seventh-day Adventists, 00:28:34.38\00:28:37.78 but it sounds like they go there, 00:28:37.81\00:28:42.38 and you said God triples their business 00:28:42.42\00:28:44.19 when they come back. 00:28:44.22\00:28:45.55 They are going down 00:28:45.59\00:28:46.92 because it's lull in their business 00:28:46.96\00:28:48.29 but then they end up... 00:28:48.32\00:28:49.66 Do you see a spirit I mean, as people are there, 00:28:49.69\00:28:54.13 the volunteers, 00:28:54.16\00:28:55.90 is there a spiritual impact on the volunteers? 00:28:55.93\00:28:59.23 I think so. 00:28:59.27\00:29:01.00 Some of our volunteers come from across the country. 00:29:01.04\00:29:04.74 They are cable drillers, which is an old technology 00:29:04.77\00:29:07.44 that we use there. 00:29:07.48\00:29:09.14 But we have volunteers from across the country, 00:29:09.18\00:29:11.91 from Ohio, there is a man coming this year from Canada, 00:29:11.95\00:29:15.18 drillers that come from Washington state, and Utah. 00:29:15.22\00:29:20.46 They have just heard about Water for Life, 00:29:20.49\00:29:23.46 and they hear about Water for Life 00:29:23.49\00:29:25.09 because I've been invited to write an article 00:29:25.13\00:29:27.50 in the National Well Drilling Journal every month. 00:29:27.53\00:29:30.50 And I talk about what we do in Guatemala, 00:29:30.53\00:29:32.70 and I invite drillers to come and help us. 00:29:32.73\00:29:35.77 But they are very respectful of our beliefs 00:29:35.80\00:29:40.54 when we are there, when they are there, 00:29:40.58\00:29:43.08 and they participate. 00:29:43.11\00:29:45.31 We have worship with them. 00:29:45.35\00:29:47.15 They know what we are doing and what we are about. 00:29:47.18\00:29:50.39 Amen. 00:29:50.42\00:29:51.75 And I think they are blessed by it. 00:29:51.79\00:29:55.22 We have some that are Catholics, 00:29:55.26\00:29:56.96 some that are Baptists, some that are nothing at all. 00:29:56.99\00:30:00.10 But they go home to their home communities, 00:30:00.13\00:30:03.00 and they spread the gospel in their home communities, 00:30:03.03\00:30:06.77 and they get people to help them 00:30:06.80\00:30:09.17 come and do the work. 00:30:09.20\00:30:11.47 So the Lord is working through them 00:30:11.51\00:30:15.11 to reach other people to do the same thing. 00:30:15.14\00:30:17.45 So we just thank the Lord 00:30:17.48\00:30:21.65 because we have the ability to influence people. 00:30:21.68\00:30:25.12 I say we have the ability, the Lord has the ability 00:30:25.15\00:30:28.22 to work through us. 00:30:28.26\00:30:29.59 He uses you as his hands and His feet. 00:30:29.62\00:30:31.36 That's what we would like to be, 00:30:31.39\00:30:32.73 His hands and His feet, just like 3ABN is His mouth. 00:30:32.76\00:30:36.90 You spread the gospel by word of mouth, 00:30:36.93\00:30:40.07 by the words that you say, and the music that's here, 00:30:40.10\00:30:42.74 and we are happy that you can help us, 00:30:42.77\00:30:45.67 and maybe we can help you. 00:30:45.71\00:30:47.31 Amen. 00:30:47.34\00:30:48.68 So, Berny, the people, you said that, 00:30:48.71\00:30:51.75 "When we go in," and you build or drill well, 00:30:51.78\00:30:56.05 this is breaking down the barriers 00:30:56.08\00:30:57.75 because you're not asking for anything. 00:30:57.79\00:31:00.72 But are most of these people do... 00:31:00.76\00:31:03.46 You've mentioned witchcraft, 00:31:03.49\00:31:05.49 I know that there is the local cultural, 00:31:05.53\00:31:08.73 are there a lot of Catholics there, 00:31:08.76\00:31:10.47 or is it not a very religious country? 00:31:10.50\00:31:14.60 It is a variety of religion. Okay. 00:31:14.64\00:31:18.47 But remember, ancestors are Mayans. 00:31:18.51\00:31:23.31 So they have their own culture, and it's very tight. 00:31:23.35\00:31:28.18 So whenever we give them free water, 00:31:28.22\00:31:35.09 they would invite us to go to their homes 00:31:35.12\00:31:39.13 and open scripture. Amen. 00:31:39.16\00:31:41.30 It doesn't matter who. 00:31:41.33\00:31:44.63 We do not fight over it. 00:31:44.67\00:31:47.14 But they say, "Come in, 00:31:47.17\00:31:49.80 let's have some frijoles and tortillas. 00:31:49.84\00:31:54.58 You know, their hearts are ready to give and receive. 00:31:54.61\00:32:00.98 So it's amazing. 00:32:01.02\00:32:02.55 There is that basic exchange that goes on 00:32:02.58\00:32:07.46 between human beings 00:32:07.49\00:32:08.82 when you're doing something to help them, 00:32:08.86\00:32:10.19 they want to do something for you. 00:32:10.23\00:32:13.80 So tell me about the health ministry 00:32:13.83\00:32:16.40 because you branched out beyond 00:32:16.43\00:32:19.67 just giving them the Bible studies, 00:32:19.70\00:32:22.17 I know you bringing down people, 00:32:22.20\00:32:23.84 they're doing evangelism series, 00:32:23.87\00:32:26.21 you've had baptisms, you do health ministries. 00:32:26.24\00:32:28.41 Can you tell us which came first, 00:32:28.44\00:32:31.11 the chicken or the egg? 00:32:31.15\00:32:32.48 I think that the drilling was the attraction 00:32:32.51\00:32:38.55 and forms the platform. 00:32:38.59\00:32:40.72 And then we began to try to help the people 00:32:40.76\00:32:43.22 with basic health screening things in villages, 00:32:43.26\00:32:47.23 and a little bit dental care, 00:32:47.26\00:32:48.63 and when we have a dentist that'll come, 00:32:48.66\00:32:50.63 we have dental equipment, and he'll go to a village, 00:32:50.67\00:32:53.20 and do free dental work with people. 00:32:53.23\00:32:55.67 But we have also had some generous donations 00:32:55.70\00:32:58.01 of medical equipment that we have made contact 00:32:58.04\00:33:01.14 with the Ministry of Health there in the Peten region. 00:33:01.18\00:33:04.75 And over the last seven or eight years, every year, 00:33:04.78\00:33:07.52 we have been sending thousands of pounds 00:33:07.55\00:33:09.52 of donated medical equipment 00:33:09.55\00:33:12.15 that we give to the Ministry of Health. 00:33:12.19\00:33:14.09 Praise God. 00:33:14.12\00:33:15.46 And they put it in their local government hospital, 00:33:15.49\00:33:17.93 and we send thousands of syringes, 00:33:17.96\00:33:20.30 and thousands of pieces of equipment, pounds. 00:33:20.33\00:33:24.03 The Deaconess Hospital there in Spokane, 00:33:24.07\00:33:26.50 we have a connection with them. 00:33:26.53\00:33:28.30 And when they refurbish areas of the hospital, 00:33:28.34\00:33:30.97 they're gonna throw that equipment away, 00:33:31.01\00:33:32.61 and we say, "Well, let us come." 00:33:32.64\00:33:34.34 And they come and say, "Take whatever you need here." 00:33:34.38\00:33:37.45 And then we load it in our container full 00:33:37.48\00:33:39.45 of drilling equipment, and import it, 00:33:39.48\00:33:41.68 and we take it to the Ministry of Health, 00:33:41.72\00:33:44.15 and give it to them. 00:33:44.19\00:33:46.15 And so they are very benefited by it, 00:33:46.19\00:33:50.79 and they know that what we are doing. 00:33:50.83\00:33:53.36 And every year, when we go down, 00:33:53.40\00:33:55.66 we deliver things, it makes them very happy 00:33:55.70\00:33:58.67 to get all these equipment, bedding, and beds. 00:33:58.70\00:34:01.70 'Cause it's a poor country. 00:34:01.74\00:34:03.64 Guatemala is the poorest country 00:34:03.67\00:34:05.11 in Central America. 00:34:05.14\00:34:06.71 I didn't know that. It's the poorest. 00:34:06.74\00:34:09.38 But the Ministry of Health, 00:34:09.41\00:34:10.75 they know that what we do 00:34:10.78\00:34:13.05 in the villages benefits their people. 00:34:13.08\00:34:15.75 And the physicians at the Ministry of Health say, 00:34:15.78\00:34:18.35 "We know villagers who come from villages 00:34:18.39\00:34:21.86 where there is good water, their health is better, 00:34:21.89\00:34:24.46 their child infant mortality rate is less." 00:34:24.49\00:34:27.43 And so they know that we care for them, 00:34:27.46\00:34:31.07 and we are able to provide for them. 00:34:31.10\00:34:33.67 Berny and I just in July, I was down there attending 00:34:33.70\00:34:36.57 to some business. 00:34:36.60\00:34:37.94 We went to the Ministry of Health, 00:34:37.97\00:34:39.71 and Dr. Menda said, "We have a crisis right now, 00:34:39.74\00:34:42.28 we have typhoid fever in a village near here, 00:34:42.31\00:34:45.91 and we need to help these people if we can." 00:34:45.95\00:34:49.38 And we said, "Well, what can we do? 00:34:49.42\00:34:51.62 Can we do anything?" 00:34:51.65\00:34:52.99 He said, "Well, I don't know what you can do." 00:34:53.02\00:34:54.66 And they were talking about an injection pump 00:34:54.69\00:34:56.83 to put in the water to chlorinate the water 00:34:56.86\00:34:59.59 while typhoid is really passed by parasites, 00:34:59.63\00:35:03.40 and fleas, and things like that, 00:35:03.43\00:35:05.50 bad sanitary conditions contributes to it. 00:35:05.53\00:35:09.97 And we went back to the shop, and Berny scraped around, 00:35:10.01\00:35:14.21 and we found a chlorine injection pump 00:35:14.24\00:35:17.45 that we use for wells when we are cleaning a well. 00:35:17.48\00:35:21.98 And we brought it back, 00:35:22.02\00:35:23.39 and they put it to immediate use. 00:35:23.42\00:35:25.89 It's just a little thing. 00:35:25.92\00:35:27.26 But at the same time, Water for Life 00:35:27.29\00:35:29.62 is able to be of benefit to the people, 00:35:29.66\00:35:32.63 and the Ministry of Health doctors 00:35:32.66\00:35:34.20 are aware of what we do, 00:35:34.23\00:35:36.46 and they know that we are a blessing 00:35:36.50\00:35:39.47 to their whole community. 00:35:39.50\00:35:40.97 We have participated in many aspects in the community, 00:35:41.00\00:35:44.87 and are well known there for the work that we do. 00:35:44.91\00:35:49.04 And Mr. Berny has been there for many years. 00:35:49.08\00:35:52.15 He is Water for Life. 00:35:52.18\00:35:54.38 He talks about me, 00:35:54.42\00:35:56.15 but he is Water for Life in Guatemala. 00:35:56.18\00:35:58.59 He and other workers maintain these wells year round. 00:35:58.62\00:36:02.26 It's very important to Water for Life 00:36:02.29\00:36:03.76 that we maintain these wells. 00:36:03.79\00:36:06.03 And these wells need maintenance. 00:36:06.06\00:36:08.43 The hand pumps that we put in, if you put one on your farm, 00:36:08.46\00:36:11.23 it would last 20 years. 00:36:11.27\00:36:13.03 But when you have 400 people using it, 00:36:13.07\00:36:15.64 in two, three years, it needs service. 00:36:15.67\00:36:17.84 Less than that, and in four months, 00:36:17.87\00:36:19.87 we have to go and rebuild them 00:36:19.91\00:36:22.91 because they're using so much that they worn up. 00:36:22.94\00:36:26.18 You know, sometimes we need to go to our village 00:36:26.21\00:36:28.92 that's five hours driving. 00:36:28.95\00:36:32.42 There is no hospital there, there's no facilities. 00:36:32.45\00:36:37.09 And the equipment these gentlemen sent for us, 00:36:37.13\00:36:41.26 they reach far as those villages. 00:36:41.30\00:36:45.10 So a mother that's giving birth, 00:36:45.13\00:36:49.00 five hours, you know what... 00:36:49.04\00:36:50.61 Yes. 00:36:50.64\00:36:52.01 So now they have a nice bed, and they say, "Wow, it's good." 00:36:52.04\00:36:56.38 So they stay there, you know, 00:36:56.41\00:36:58.68 they don't have to go so far to delivery. 00:36:58.71\00:37:02.38 Praise God. 00:37:02.42\00:37:03.75 So now I just realized our time is beginning to click down. 00:37:03.79\00:37:09.36 You go in, you've got a group of volunteers, 00:37:09.39\00:37:12.66 even not just the drillers and the cablemen, 00:37:12.69\00:37:15.06 but the doctors or dentists that go with you also. 00:37:15.10\00:37:19.03 You get the spiritual interest started, 00:37:19.07\00:37:22.80 hire a Bible worker to work there for you, 00:37:22.84\00:37:25.01 you're doing evangelism series. 00:37:25.04\00:37:27.18 Tell us about the reaping. 00:37:27.21\00:37:30.58 Have you had many baptisms through this? 00:37:30.61\00:37:33.78 The area, we have had hundreds of baptisms. 00:37:33.82\00:37:38.72 And Berny has had conversations with the division, 00:37:38.75\00:37:41.99 and the union there, and the area around 00:37:42.02\00:37:44.49 where Water for Life is the fastest growing area 00:37:44.53\00:37:48.26 of the Adventist message in Guatemala, 00:37:48.30\00:37:51.30 and maybe in the region, 14 churches, 00:37:51.33\00:37:53.74 I say, that are new in the last 10 years in that area, 00:37:53.77\00:37:57.41 and the churches are bursting with people. 00:37:57.44\00:37:59.87 Glory to God. Barial. 00:38:12.02\00:38:13.76 Barial is a village near the Belize border. 00:38:13.79\00:38:16.79 It's about... 00:38:16.83\00:38:18.16 And when Berny mentioned five hours drive 00:38:18.19\00:38:19.73 that might be just be 20 miles. 00:38:19.76\00:38:21.96 Roads down there aren't like roads here. 00:38:22.00\00:38:23.77 Yes. 00:38:23.80\00:38:25.93 To go 10 miles, sometimes, 00:38:25.97\00:38:27.34 will take two hours or three hours 00:38:27.37\00:38:29.77 because the roads are just holes. 00:38:29.80\00:38:32.01 And after the rainy season, it's just terrible. 00:38:32.04\00:38:35.88 But Berny, 00:38:35.91\00:38:37.81 we built the directors of Water for Life. 00:38:37.85\00:38:40.78 In this village of Barial, we became aware 00:38:40.82\00:38:45.15 of an Adventist interest there, and so we got together. 00:38:45.19\00:38:49.42 And among the directors, we bought some land, 00:38:49.46\00:38:52.26 and we built this little church. 00:38:52.29\00:38:54.20 And Berny was, kind of, close to this church. 00:38:54.23\00:38:57.60 And he traveled out there to look one day, 00:38:57.63\00:39:00.14 how things were going. 00:39:00.17\00:39:01.50 And the people there were sitting on planks 00:39:01.54\00:39:05.87 and cement blocks. 00:39:05.91\00:39:08.18 While he was there checking on the situation, 00:39:08.21\00:39:10.85 a lady came to him and said, "Would you come? 00:39:10.88\00:39:14.12 A little girl is sick, 00:39:14.15\00:39:15.78 would you come and look at her?" 00:39:15.82\00:39:17.35 Berny said, "Sure." 00:39:17.39\00:39:19.15 They walked about 15 minutes 00:39:19.19\00:39:20.59 out through a track into the jungle, 00:39:20.62\00:39:22.19 and came to a rude little building, 00:39:22.22\00:39:24.59 and in the corner of the building 00:39:24.63\00:39:25.96 was a little foam with a little child of about seven, 00:39:25.99\00:39:30.63 and her leg was swollen, and Berny touched her, 00:39:30.67\00:39:34.14 and she was burning with fever, 00:39:34.17\00:39:35.64 tried to get her to take a little water. 00:39:35.67\00:39:37.31 She wouldn't take any water. She was listless. 00:39:37.34\00:39:40.08 And they said a little snake had bitten her in the leg, 00:39:40.11\00:39:42.84 and they pointed to a couple little marks on her ankle. 00:39:42.88\00:39:45.51 It was in the night. 00:39:45.55\00:39:47.65 And Berny asked about the family, 00:39:47.68\00:39:50.29 and it was an aunt. 00:39:50.32\00:39:51.65 She said her parents were gone, 00:39:51.69\00:39:53.02 and the aunt was taking care of this little girl. 00:39:53.05\00:39:55.19 And Berny noticed that in the corner of the room, 00:39:55.22\00:39:57.16 there was an elderly woman, and she was saying, 00:39:57.19\00:40:00.30 "This child will die. This child will die." 00:40:00.33\00:40:03.80 And the aunt said, "Berny would you help her?" 00:40:03.83\00:40:06.17 Berny said, "Well, I don't know, but I'll try." 00:40:06.20\00:40:08.50 And he scooped her up, and with the aunt, 00:40:08.54\00:40:10.51 they walked back to the vehicle, 00:40:10.54\00:40:12.21 and started the trip back to town. 00:40:12.24\00:40:15.01 It's about an hour and a half or so to get back to Poptun. 00:40:15.04\00:40:20.22 He stopped on the way at a man who does some medical work, 00:40:20.25\00:40:24.85 and the man came out and looked at the girl, 00:40:24.89\00:40:26.49 and he said, "I think that this is a Fer-de-lance, 00:40:26.52\00:40:29.46 a very deadly snake amarilla. 00:40:29.49\00:40:32.63 And he said, "I think the child may die." 00:40:32.66\00:40:35.73 But Berny took the child to the hospital 00:40:35.76\00:40:37.93 and on the way... 00:40:37.97\00:40:39.30 Did Berny do the charcoal poultice? 00:40:39.33\00:40:41.74 Who did this? Yes, yes. 00:40:41.77\00:40:43.84 The man helped him, and they got some charcoal, 00:40:43.87\00:40:45.77 put a poultice on the wound, 00:40:45.81\00:40:47.24 and try to get the girl to drink a little water 00:40:47.28\00:40:49.98 but she's pretty listless, she was very sick. 00:40:50.01\00:40:54.38 And on the way, Berny talked with the aunt. 00:40:54.42\00:40:56.48 And he asked about the lady in the corner. 00:40:56.52\00:41:00.46 He said, "Well, she's a witch." 00:41:00.49\00:41:03.63 And she tried to help the child 00:41:03.66\00:41:05.53 but then she just has decided that this child must die. 00:41:05.56\00:41:10.03 And so Berny prayed to the Lord, 00:41:10.07\00:41:12.57 and took this child to the hospital, 00:41:12.60\00:41:14.37 and in four, five days, 00:41:14.40\00:41:15.80 it was clear, she was going to live, 00:41:15.84\00:41:17.87 and Berny took them back home, and everybody was happy. 00:41:17.91\00:41:23.08 And he went back in about six or eight months 00:41:23.11\00:41:25.68 to check on things again. 00:41:25.71\00:41:27.42 And this little girl was in church, 00:41:27.45\00:41:29.35 and the aunt was in church, 00:41:29.38\00:41:30.72 and over in the corner was the old lady. 00:41:30.75\00:41:33.79 The witch? The witch was there. 00:41:33.82\00:41:36.69 And through the work of the Bible worker, 00:41:36.73\00:41:38.73 she became a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:41:38.76\00:41:40.70 Glory to God. 00:41:40.73\00:41:42.06 And when I was down there last January, 00:41:42.10\00:41:44.57 I went with some workers. 00:41:44.60\00:41:46.17 And her home had mysteriously burned. 00:41:46.20\00:41:50.21 And a group from Florida had come 00:41:50.24\00:41:53.04 and had constructed for her 00:41:53.07\00:41:55.48 a little concrete house, a little small house. 00:41:55.51\00:41:58.68 And I went there, and I met the little girl 00:41:58.71\00:42:01.08 who had this snakebite, she showed me on her leg. 00:42:01.12\00:42:04.09 And I met the lady, 00:42:04.12\00:42:05.75 it shouldn't be the witch from Barial, 00:42:05.79\00:42:07.36 she's the ex-witch from Barial. 00:42:07.39\00:42:10.03 And she's one of the leaders in the Adventist Church there, 00:42:10.06\00:42:12.46 and I got some nice pictures of this beautiful lady. 00:42:12.49\00:42:15.56 And she's a very... 00:42:15.60\00:42:18.50 Did you bring a picture? Okay, I wish you have. 00:42:21.80\00:42:23.14 I didn't know you were gonna ask me about her. 00:42:23.17\00:42:25.47 Well, I've heard that story before but I love that story. 00:42:25.51\00:42:29.24 So also your Bible workers in your evangelistic outreaches 00:42:29.28\00:42:35.88 in the area have impacted other churches. 00:42:35.92\00:42:40.19 That's true. 00:42:40.22\00:42:41.56 Tell us about a couple of churches in particular. 00:42:41.59\00:42:44.86 Near the village of Kayin, I believe it is, 00:42:44.89\00:42:48.50 our Bible worker was in that area 00:42:48.53\00:42:51.60 and there had been no interest in the Adventist message. 00:42:51.63\00:42:55.27 There had been a church there about 25 years 00:42:55.30\00:42:57.34 before that, but it died away. 00:42:57.37\00:43:00.14 And we were trying to raise up the interest there. 00:43:00.18\00:43:05.08 In two nearby villages, there were two, 00:43:05.11\00:43:07.52 well, maybe in one village, 00:43:07.55\00:43:08.88 there are two congregations of Sunday keeping people. 00:43:08.92\00:43:12.15 I'm not sure of the denomination, 00:43:12.19\00:43:14.26 but they received some of the literature, 00:43:14.29\00:43:15.89 and they listened to the Bible worker. 00:43:15.92\00:43:18.19 And they went to their pastor and said, 00:43:18.23\00:43:19.93 "We think that the Sabbath is the right day. 00:43:19.96\00:43:22.20 Why aren't we worshiping on Sabbath?" 00:43:22.23\00:43:25.33 And through the work of the Bible worker 00:43:25.37\00:43:27.64 and these people, they convinced their pastor 00:43:27.67\00:43:29.94 that the Sabbath was the right day. 00:43:29.97\00:43:33.21 So pastor saw the truth in the scripture. 00:43:33.24\00:43:35.01 The pastor did. 00:43:35.04\00:43:36.38 And now both groups are keeping the Sabbath. 00:43:36.41\00:43:40.08 And the Bible worker is still working, 00:43:40.12\00:43:41.92 maybe they'll all be baptized as Adventists, 00:43:41.95\00:43:44.85 I don't know, but they are people of God 00:43:44.89\00:43:47.12 who have learned about the Sabbath truth. 00:43:47.16\00:43:50.13 And it's through the work of Water for Life. 00:43:50.16\00:43:52.66 And similar things like that 00:43:52.69\00:43:54.96 where people can learn about Bible truth, 00:43:55.00\00:43:58.47 and it's changing people's lives. 00:43:58.50\00:44:01.30 Amen. 00:44:01.34\00:44:02.67 Saving their lives and changing what they do. 00:44:02.70\00:44:05.41 Plus, I would like to say that some of them listen to 3ABN. 00:44:05.44\00:44:09.91 Yes. 00:44:09.94\00:44:11.81 And they say, "Good, It's a very good channel." 00:44:11.85\00:44:14.92 3ABN is poplar there. 00:44:14.95\00:44:16.65 And some brethren from upper Columbia joined us, 00:44:16.69\00:44:21.16 and they went and build up, with their kids, two churches. 00:44:21.19\00:44:25.39 Praise God. 00:44:25.43\00:44:26.76 So they have a well in the church here 00:44:26.80\00:44:28.56 and also a church. 00:44:28.60\00:44:30.00 I think we have a picture of a churchyard 00:44:30.03\00:44:32.13 with a well in the front. 00:44:32.17\00:44:33.90 Wonderful. There. That's it. 00:44:33.94\00:44:36.40 The church in country, 00:44:36.44\00:44:38.67 and that's a nice little church, 00:44:38.71\00:44:41.11 typical of what we try to build there. 00:44:41.14\00:44:43.81 It's a pretty little church. And the volunteers. 00:44:43.85\00:44:45.18 And there is the pump in the foreground. 00:44:45.21\00:44:47.22 Amen.
