I'm a man of unclean lips." 00:02:18.33\00:02:21.57 And the angel took a coal from the altar 00:02:21.60\00:02:24.34 and touched his lips. 00:02:24.37\00:02:25.71 Well, you know, we could all say 00:02:25.74\00:02:27.51 we're men of unclean lips, 00:02:27.54\00:02:29.24 because it's none of us are as holy as God. 00:02:29.28\00:02:33.62 But then this is chapter 6 and verse 8, 00:02:33.65\00:02:37.99 which is my favorite verse. 00:02:38.02\00:02:40.66 He says, Isaiah, he says, 00:02:40.69\00:02:42.79 "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying 00:02:42.82\00:02:45.43 'Whom shall I send? 00:02:45.46\00:02:47.50 And who will go for us?'" 00:02:47.53\00:02:50.33 And Isaiah, as soon as he heard God's call, 00:02:50.37\00:02:54.04 he said "Here I'm. 00:02:54.07\00:02:56.30 Send me." 00:02:56.34\00:02:58.31 And, you know, I can relate to that scripture 00:02:58.34\00:03:01.54 because I heard that God was looking for someone. 00:03:01.58\00:03:05.48 And I said, "Lord, here I'm, send me." 00:03:05.51\00:03:08.22 So did our guests today. 00:03:08.25\00:03:10.69 They heard the call of the Lord and they're allowing God 00:03:10.72\00:03:14.16 to use them in miraculous ways. 00:03:14.19\00:03:16.52 Let me introduce our special guests. 00:03:16.56\00:03:18.63 We has Frazier Mathis 00:03:18.66\00:03:20.86 and his lovely wife Virginia Mathis. 00:03:20.90\00:03:24.10 And, Frazier, you're the Director 00:03:24.13\00:03:26.23 of Global Vessels Inc. 00:03:26.27\00:03:29.04 Tell was in a nutshell, 00:03:29.07\00:03:31.44 what is the mission of Global Vessels Inc? 00:03:31.47\00:03:34.78 Global Vessels is an organization 00:03:34.81\00:03:36.68 that God laid upon our hearts 00:03:36.71\00:03:38.28 where we can actually impact lives. 00:03:38.31\00:03:40.98 So our total mission is to bless, 00:03:41.02\00:03:43.69 and to be a blessing. 00:03:43.72\00:03:45.05 Okay. 00:03:45.09\00:03:46.42 And that's how it's been working out. 00:03:46.45\00:03:47.79 We've been having the opportunity 00:03:47.82\00:03:49.16 to do just that. 00:03:49.19\00:03:50.53 Amen. And we're gonna get all the details in just a moment. 00:03:50.56\00:03:51.89 But, before we get involved in the ministry, 00:03:51.93\00:03:55.40 we always love to kick off with music. 00:03:55.43\00:03:58.37 And today we've got our, one of our own, 00:03:58.40\00:04:02.94 a special sister in Christ. 00:04:02.97\00:04:05.21 Her name is E.T. Everett for that beautiful song 00:09:49.42\00:09:51.95 "Holy Holy Holy". 00:09:51.99\00:09:53.32 If you're tuning in just a few minutes late, 00:09:53.36\00:09:55.86 let me reintroduce our special guest. 00:09:55.89\00:09:58.46 We have Frazier and Virginia Mathis 00:09:58.49\00:10:00.70 with us today and they're with Global Vessels Inc. 00:10:00.73\00:10:04.53 But before we get to the point of talking about 00:10:04.57\00:10:09.67 how God called you, and you answered saying, 00:10:09.70\00:10:13.01 "Here I am, send me." 00:10:13.04\00:10:14.78 Let's get a little bit of your history. 00:10:14.81\00:10:18.11 Frazier, did you grow up in a Christian home, 00:10:18.15\00:10:21.78 an Adventist Christian home 00:10:21.82\00:10:23.28 or tell us about your upbringing? 00:10:23.32\00:10:25.79 Well, I grew up in a home where parents sent you to church 00:10:25.82\00:10:30.53 and we were going to church on Sunday. 00:10:30.56\00:10:33.70 Okay. 00:10:33.73\00:10:35.06 And in the process of time, I had an opportunity 00:10:35.10\00:10:39.03 of being a roommate of mine in college. 00:10:39.07\00:10:41.44 He spoke to me about going to church on Saturday, 00:10:41.47\00:10:45.17 on the Sabbath. 00:10:45.21\00:10:46.54 I said, "You mean to tell me everybody else is wrong 00:10:46.57\00:10:49.28 and this little group is right?" 00:10:49.31\00:10:51.31 He said, "I'm telling you." 00:10:51.35\00:10:52.68 And at that time I was working in the Gulf of Mexico, 00:10:52.71\00:10:54.48 working seven days off, seven days. 00:10:54.52\00:10:56.82 So I planned to retire there early. 00:10:56.85\00:10:59.95 You only needed 25 years to retire. 00:10:59.99\00:11:01.96 So I would tell everybody... You loved your job. 00:11:01.99\00:11:03.86 I loved my job. 00:11:03.89\00:11:05.23 I flew out in a helicopter every day, every Thursday, 00:11:05.26\00:11:08.16 and back home, and so it was great. 00:11:08.20\00:11:10.80 So when my friend said, "I needed to visit the church." 00:11:10.83\00:11:14.14 And it was on Saturday, I was kind of puzzled. 00:11:14.17\00:11:16.47 I said, "Okay, I'm going to go." 00:11:16.50\00:11:17.84 So I came in for seven days, and did everything 00:11:17.87\00:11:19.87 but go to church. 00:11:19.91\00:11:21.44 Went back out on the rigs for seven more days, 00:11:21.48\00:11:23.45 I called him and he said, "Did you go?" 00:11:23.48\00:11:24.81 I said, "No, I didn't go." 00:11:24.85\00:11:26.18 He said, "Promise me, you're gonna go." 00:11:26.21\00:11:27.55 He says, "I'm telling you, 00:11:27.58\00:11:28.92 this is what we're looking for." 00:11:28.95\00:11:30.29 I said, "Okay, I'm gonna go." 00:11:30.32\00:11:31.75 So I go back in, and I go to this church 00:11:31.79\00:11:35.42 2400 Delachaise Street, Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:11:35.46\00:11:38.99 D.J. William is the pastor. 00:11:39.03\00:11:41.43 So I come to church that particular Sabbath, 00:11:41.46\00:11:43.80 I hear him preach and I joined that day. 00:11:43.83\00:11:46.33 Wow! 00:11:46.37\00:11:47.70 First time, and I knew it was right. 00:11:47.74\00:11:49.67 I knew it was right. 00:11:49.70\00:11:51.04 And then from that, interviewers will, 00:11:51.07\00:11:53.04 all would ask me "Brother Mathis, 00:11:53.07\00:11:54.41 how did you get your mother, and your brother, 00:11:54.44\00:11:55.84 and your sister them into?" 00:11:55.88\00:11:57.88 "Because whenever I would go to church, 00:11:57.91\00:11:59.88 I would invite them, 00:11:59.91\00:12:01.32 and whenever the minister would make an appeal, 00:12:01.35\00:12:02.95 I get behind him make an appeal crying." 00:12:02.98\00:12:07.32 Please, Mama. Yeah, I said, this is it. 00:12:07.36\00:12:09.09 This is what we've been looking for, it comes. 00:12:09.12\00:12:10.73 So, for sure, my sister, and my brother, 00:12:10.76\00:12:12.89 and my mother, and my grandparents... 00:12:12.93\00:12:15.23 Oh, glory to God. 00:12:15.26\00:12:16.60 Who were staunch Baptist, 00:12:16.63\00:12:17.97 deacon and deaconess in the church, 00:12:18.00\00:12:19.33 when they became Adventist, it was unbelievable. 00:12:19.37\00:12:21.64 So you told me earlier in the greenroom 00:12:21.67\00:12:24.41 that this job that you had, 00:12:24.44\00:12:26.17 you were making excellent money, 00:12:26.21\00:12:27.74 and you kept telling the crew there, 00:12:27.78\00:12:30.15 I'm putting in my 25 years, retiring, I love this job. 00:12:30.18\00:12:34.15 Never leave it. And I'll never leave it. 00:12:34.18\00:12:36.69 And then, but you and your friend 00:12:36.72\00:12:39.05 were searching for answers to Bible questions. 00:12:39.09\00:12:42.42 Yes. You found the answers. 00:12:42.46\00:12:44.33 What happened after you found the truth 00:12:44.36\00:12:47.56 from God's work? 00:12:47.60\00:12:48.93 What happened to your job? I go back to the rigs, right? 00:12:48.96\00:12:52.33 And I'm sitting around the table, 00:12:52.37\00:12:53.70 everybody's talking, and it's amazing, 00:12:53.74\00:12:56.27 you know, they used to... 00:12:56.30\00:12:57.87 They would fix you a stake, and the stake would be so large 00:12:57.91\00:13:01.11 that you have to put napkins on the table 00:13:01.14\00:13:02.68 so the meat wouldn't lay on the table. 00:13:02.71\00:13:05.35 I mean, it was unbelievable. 00:13:05.38\00:13:06.72 So I was loving this job. 00:13:06.75\00:13:08.08 So I go back out, after I've accepted Christ, 00:13:08.12\00:13:10.29 accepted the seventh-day message, 00:13:10.32\00:13:11.95 I said, "Okay, guys, this is it. 00:13:11.99\00:13:13.32 This is my last hitch. 00:13:13.36\00:13:15.36 Your last hitch? I said "I'm gone." 00:13:15.39\00:13:17.16 He said "The seventh-day of the Sabbath, I'm finished. 00:13:17.19\00:13:19.39 I'm done." 00:13:19.43\00:13:20.76 So that meant that my salary went from there to there. 00:13:20.80\00:13:24.27 When I told my dad, I was going to leave, 00:13:24.30\00:13:26.77 he said, he said, "Boy, are you a fool?" 00:13:26.80\00:13:30.64 He said, "You could make, 00:13:30.67\00:13:32.01 you don't make this kind of money. 00:13:32.04\00:13:33.78 You don't make this kind of money. 00:13:33.81\00:13:35.14 You're gonna leave that job?" 00:13:35.18\00:13:36.51 I said, "Dad, the seventh-day of the Sabbath I'm out here." 00:13:36.54\00:13:38.48 I admire so much when I hear stories 00:13:38.51\00:13:41.38 of people who just... 00:13:41.42\00:13:43.72 They recognized truth, 00:13:43.75\00:13:45.35 they recognized this is God's will, 00:13:45.39\00:13:47.59 and they just say "This is for me, 00:13:47.62\00:13:49.69 I can't do otherwise. 00:13:49.72\00:13:51.33 God, help me if I did otherwise." 00:13:51.36\00:13:53.56 So praise the Lord, but God then brought you 00:13:53.60\00:13:56.03 into construction business. 00:13:56.06\00:13:57.43 You've been obviously successful in your life 00:13:57.47\00:14:00.67 and God has blessed. 00:14:00.70\00:14:02.24 Now Virginia... Yes. 00:14:02.27\00:14:04.34 Did you grow up in a Christian home? 00:14:04.37\00:14:07.04 Yes, I feel very blessed that I grew up in a Christian home, 00:14:07.08\00:14:10.98 a Seventh-day Adventist Christian home 00:14:11.01\00:14:13.82 from as early as I can remember. 00:14:13.85\00:14:16.42 And my parents moved us to Pine Forge in Pennsylvania, 00:14:16.45\00:14:21.89 so that we could get a Christian education. 00:14:21.92\00:14:24.66 They moved us out of the city. We lived in New York. 00:14:24.69\00:14:27.73 And they moved us to Pine Forge, 00:14:27.76\00:14:29.73 and I've been in Adventist schools 00:14:29.76\00:14:33.70 all my life except for graduate work, 00:14:33.74\00:14:36.97 and taught in Adventist school, so... 00:14:37.01\00:14:40.18 So you became a teacher? I became a teacher. 00:14:40.21\00:14:43.21 Yes, we've many teachers in my family as well. 00:14:43.24\00:14:47.62 And did you teach in the Adventist school system? 00:14:47.65\00:14:49.52 I did. 00:14:49.55\00:14:50.89 I taught at Takoma Academy 00:14:50.92\00:14:52.59 which is in the Washington D.C. area. 00:14:52.62\00:14:55.69 Wonderful. You know, we have an Adventist school here. 00:14:55.72\00:14:59.36 And I've always believed that Christian education 00:14:59.39\00:15:02.76 was important and unfortunately, 00:15:02.80\00:15:04.50 I didn't get that opportunity. 00:15:04.53\00:15:06.03 But when we see people who come in, 00:15:06.07\00:15:09.50 who are really, maybe not having 00:15:09.54\00:15:13.24 a real personal experience with the Lord, 00:15:13.27\00:15:15.44 and they go through the first school year, 00:15:15.48\00:15:17.28 and you see the change. 00:15:17.31\00:15:18.71 Right. Oh, yes. 00:15:18.75\00:15:20.08 It is so amazing. 00:15:20.12\00:15:21.45 I believe that Christian education 00:15:21.48\00:15:23.69 is incredibly important. 00:15:23.72\00:15:25.52 Okay, so you have this 501c3, a nonprofit organization. 00:15:25.55\00:15:32.16 That you've begun called "Global Vessels". 00:15:32.19\00:15:34.73 Don't you like that name Global Vessels Inc.? 00:15:34.76\00:15:38.03 Tell us, how God, 00:15:38.07\00:15:41.97 how you recognized God's call on your life 00:15:42.00\00:15:44.77 and why you began, because you're the director 00:15:44.81\00:15:47.54 and founder of Global Vessels Inc? 00:15:47.58\00:15:49.98 Yeah. 00:15:50.01\00:15:51.35 How did this all begin? 00:15:51.38\00:15:52.91 My wife teaches at... 00:15:52.95\00:15:54.28 Was teaching at Takoma Academy, and I was, I was privileged 00:15:54.32\00:15:56.79 to go with them on several mission trips. 00:15:56.82\00:15:59.05 And I said, "Well, I like, this is great. 00:15:59.09\00:16:01.36 I like doing it." 00:16:01.39\00:16:02.72 So we were going with Maranatha at the time. 00:16:02.76\00:16:05.59 So I called Maranatha because 00:16:05.63\00:16:07.90 we wanted to go to Africa and do a mission trip. 00:16:07.93\00:16:09.86 And they said, "Well, we're not in Africa right now. 00:16:09.90\00:16:12.37 Communism has fallen and we're, they're rushing, 00:16:12.40\00:16:15.97 they are now working, trying to get as much done 00:16:16.00\00:16:18.07 as we possibly can, you know. 00:16:18.11\00:16:19.94 I said "Well, could you possibly 00:16:19.97\00:16:21.44 send me a blueprint for a church?" 00:16:21.48\00:16:23.55 And they said, "Sure, we'll send you a blueprint." 00:16:23.58\00:16:25.58 So I had the blueprints in my hand. 00:16:25.61\00:16:27.28 Is this the Seventh-day Church? Seventh-day! Yeah. 00:16:27.32\00:16:30.12 I've the blueprints in my hand. 00:16:30.15\00:16:31.49 I stand in front of the church, Emmanuel Brinklow Church, 00:16:31.52\00:16:33.79 Seventh-day Adventist church. 00:16:33.82\00:16:35.16 I stand in front of the church, doing personal ministry. 00:16:35.19\00:16:36.56 I said, "Listen, I've got a set of plans here. 00:16:36.59\00:16:39.46 Who would like to go with me to build a church in Africa? 00:16:39.49\00:16:43.47 And I had 37 people volunteered to come and go with us. 00:16:43.50\00:16:46.00 Praise the Lord. 00:16:46.03\00:16:47.37 Now had you been on any previous trips to Africa? 00:16:47.40\00:16:51.34 No, first time. 00:16:51.37\00:16:52.71 We had not been on any trips to Africa. 00:16:52.74\00:16:54.24 And that the other piece of that 00:16:54.28\00:16:56.75 which is part of a miracle is that, 00:16:56.78\00:17:00.55 he knew he wanted to go to Africa. 00:17:00.58\00:17:02.38 We knew, he didn't know anyone from Africa. 00:17:02.42\00:17:05.92 And since I was teaching, I had students 00:17:05.95\00:17:10.86 that their parents worked at the General Conference. 00:17:10.89\00:17:14.23 And Elder Bediako, he was at home praying 00:17:14.26\00:17:19.17 that someone would come and help his people, 00:17:19.20\00:17:22.60 because he knew a lot of work that needed to be done. 00:17:22.64\00:17:25.97 So when Frazier told me what his vision was, 00:17:26.01\00:17:29.91 what he wanted to do. 00:17:29.94\00:17:31.28 I said, "Well, I know the Bediako's and so 00:17:31.31\00:17:35.52 maybe I can introduce you to him." 00:17:35.55\00:17:38.02 So with that initial meeting, 00:17:38.05\00:17:41.49 both of them had their dreams fulfilled. 00:17:41.52\00:17:44.06 And Elder Bediako took him to Ghana, 00:17:44.09\00:17:47.70 so he could see what kind of work 00:17:47.73\00:17:49.80 he could do there. 00:17:49.83\00:17:51.17 What's so amazing... 00:17:51.20\00:17:52.53 Okay, we go to Ghana, 00:17:52.57\00:17:53.94 and he takes me to different places. 00:17:53.97\00:17:56.54 We go to Bekwai, this little town. 00:17:56.57\00:17:59.07 And they're worshipping in a school, 00:17:59.11\00:18:01.44 but they are getting ready to kick them out, 00:18:01.48\00:18:03.04 and they have no place to worship. 00:18:03.08\00:18:05.11 They will not have the place to worship. 00:18:05.15\00:18:07.02 So we decided, "Okay, we're gonna build you a church. 00:18:07.05\00:18:10.85 We're gonna build you a church." 00:18:10.89\00:18:12.22 So for sure, we go there, we look at what we're gonna do, 00:18:12.25\00:18:15.46 we start sending funds over, 00:18:15.49\00:18:17.29 so they get this shell of the church over up, 00:18:17.33\00:18:20.06 and then we bring the group over. 00:18:20.10\00:18:21.43 I'm a contractor by trade. 00:18:21.46\00:18:23.06 So we bring the group over and while we're there, 00:18:23.10\00:18:27.30 first meeting we're there, and we're in this large church, 00:18:27.34\00:18:30.61 and we're introducing everybody in the mission team. 00:18:30.64\00:18:32.81 This person is a doctor, this person is that, the other. 00:18:32.84\00:18:35.54 Someone in the back raised their hands, 00:18:35.58\00:18:37.11 "Said, listen, we find it strange that 00:18:37.15\00:18:38.95 you Americans come here to build this church, 00:18:38.98\00:18:40.62 but no one in your group can build. 00:18:40.65\00:18:42.88 How can you do this?" 00:18:42.92\00:18:44.45 And I mean, there's a hush over the entire church. 00:18:44.49\00:18:47.59 I said, "By God's grace, we're gonna get it built." 00:18:47.62\00:18:49.52 Okay. 00:18:49.56\00:18:50.89 So for sure, we get there, we're working. 00:18:50.93\00:18:53.13 We have literally pushed people off the work cycles. 00:18:53.16\00:18:55.63 Everybody in the village, community 00:18:55.66\00:18:57.03 was coming to watch to see these crazy people 00:18:57.07\00:18:59.03 saying they're going to build a church 00:18:59.07\00:19:00.40 and none of knew how to build, except one person. 00:19:00.44\00:19:02.30 Especially in seven days, right? 00:19:02.34\00:19:04.31 Yeah, especially, right. 00:19:04.34\00:19:05.84 So what would it take them to... 00:19:05.87\00:19:08.88 How long would it take them to, perhaps? 00:19:08.91\00:19:10.65 It will take them from 10, 20, 30 years 00:19:10.68\00:19:14.32 because they did not, at that time have mortgages, 00:19:14.35\00:19:17.82 so they would have to build a little, work a little, 00:19:17.85\00:19:20.92 build a little, work a little. 00:19:20.96\00:19:22.59 So the idea that we had, 00:19:22.62\00:19:25.76 they couldn't comprehend that idea that we could do. 00:19:25.79\00:19:28.76 So everybody is wanting to come out 00:19:28.80\00:19:30.13 and watch this crazy myriad. 00:19:30.17\00:19:31.50 Everybody is watching us build this building, 00:19:31.53\00:19:32.93 coming up, coming up. 00:19:32.97\00:19:34.30 And you know, so finally, when we get there, it's Friday, 00:19:34.34\00:19:38.41 the shell is up, the walls are up, the roof is on. 00:19:38.44\00:19:42.14 Okay. 00:19:42.18\00:19:43.51 And so we tell them, all right, we're going to lunch, 00:19:43.55\00:19:46.11 you go back to the school, get your little linen, 00:19:46.15\00:19:49.38 do this in remembrance of me, and put, hang the curtains. 00:19:49.42\00:19:52.59 So we get back from lunch. 00:19:52.62\00:19:54.29 They got the table in place, the curtains in, 00:19:54.32\00:19:57.39 we walk in that building, in the church, 00:19:57.43\00:19:59.83 that's up from nothing to where it is 00:19:59.86\00:20:02.00 and everybody's praising God and crying 00:20:02.03\00:20:04.47 because we knew that God had worked a miracle that day, 00:20:04.50\00:20:07.80 was to get that building ready for worship. 00:20:07.84\00:20:09.90 Because every day, I would say, 00:20:09.94\00:20:11.27 "We're worshipping Sabbath in this building." 00:20:11.31\00:20:14.08 We're gonna worship Sabbath in this building, 00:20:14.11\00:20:15.98 it's going to happen. 00:20:16.01\00:20:17.35 And we just kept pushing, and pushing, and pushing, 00:20:17.38\00:20:19.05 and we got it done. 00:20:19.08\00:20:20.42 And, you know, having a place of worship, 00:20:20.45\00:20:23.18 we so take that for granted. 00:20:23.22\00:20:24.89 Yes, we do. 00:20:24.92\00:20:26.25 But, well, boy, when you travel the world 00:20:26.29\00:20:27.62 and find people who are worshipping under trees 00:20:27.66\00:20:29.79 or worshipping in an area that is, 00:20:29.82\00:20:33.40 you know, just so cramped and they can't accommodate 00:20:33.43\00:20:35.83 even new members. 00:20:35.86\00:20:37.37 It is so important just for you... 00:20:37.40\00:20:41.10 It's kind of like your touchstone 00:20:41.14\00:20:42.57 if you will to have a place to go to worship. 00:20:42.60\00:20:45.27 And it also, I believe it attracts other new people. 00:20:45.31\00:20:49.58 Oh, it does. It does, yes. 00:20:49.61\00:20:51.05 Because if you're worshipping under a tree, people think, 00:20:51.08\00:20:53.31 "What God, are you serving, you know?" 00:20:53.35\00:20:55.68 But even though they are worshipping underneath trees 00:20:55.72\00:20:57.39 and they have, you know, they don't have facilities 00:20:57.42\00:20:58.95 like we do, the Spirit is so rich there. 00:20:58.99\00:21:01.46 Praise God. You know, what I mean? 00:21:01.49\00:21:02.82 I mean, the love of God just overflows, you know, 00:21:02.86\00:21:05.33 even though, I'm sitting in a room 00:21:05.36\00:21:07.10 and I can look outside and see outside, you know, 00:21:07.13\00:21:09.56 they are still praising God and they love the Lord, so... 00:21:09.60\00:21:11.43 They have beautiful spirits. 00:21:11.47\00:21:12.80 They are beautiful spirits though. 00:21:12.83\00:21:14.17 You know, that fabulous. That's what I love about it. 00:21:14.20\00:21:15.80 Now, how long did you work in Ghana? 00:21:15.84\00:21:19.24 We were in Ghana for about four years. 00:21:19.27\00:21:21.21 We were in Ghana for six years. 00:21:21.24\00:21:23.01 Six years, okay. 00:21:23.04\00:21:24.38 Three churches, the girls' dormitory 00:21:24.41\00:21:26.31 and a library. 00:21:26.35\00:21:27.68 All right. We got... 00:21:27.72\00:21:29.05 For the library we're able to get computers 00:21:29.08\00:21:30.42 from the Library of Congress and have that shipped over. 00:21:30.45\00:21:33.59 And so it was a blessing, it was a blessing in Ghana. 00:21:33.62\00:21:38.46 We were able to raise money for another church. 00:21:38.49\00:21:41.80 We didn't build it, but we raised the funds 00:21:41.83\00:21:44.70 so that they could build it too. 00:21:44.73\00:21:46.87 We spent a good time in Ghana and we loved it. 00:21:46.90\00:21:49.37 Amen. 00:21:49.40\00:21:50.74 Yeah, you weren't over there full time. 00:21:50.77\00:21:52.11 You were both still working at the time 00:21:52.14\00:21:53.58 and you would go over. 00:21:53.61\00:21:55.78 I understand you went several times a year 00:21:55.81\00:21:57.85 just preparing things. 00:21:57.88\00:21:59.51 But then you had once a year that you were taking over 00:21:59.55\00:22:03.59 your mission team. 00:22:03.62\00:22:04.95 We take a mission team over once a year. 00:22:04.99\00:22:06.35 Okay. 00:22:06.39\00:22:07.72 Volunteers from all over the United States. 00:22:07.76\00:22:09.22 I'll tell you a story. 00:22:09.26\00:22:10.86 Some guys saw us on a program here at 3ABN, 00:22:10.89\00:22:13.90 The Jacksons. 00:22:13.93\00:22:15.43 They called me from California. 00:22:15.46\00:22:16.80 They said "Listen, we want to do 00:22:16.83\00:22:18.17 that mission thing with you." 00:22:18.20\00:22:19.53 I said, "No problem, you're welcome to come." 00:22:19.57\00:22:20.90 He says, "Well, I'm 80, my brother is 79, 00:22:20.94\00:22:23.97 and my other brother is 83." 00:22:24.01\00:22:25.34 I said "Listen, if you get a doctor's clearance, 00:22:25.37\00:22:27.01 you can come and go with us." 00:22:27.04\00:22:28.51 Three weeks later, they called me and said, 00:22:28.54\00:22:30.05 "Listen, we got our clearance. 00:22:30.08\00:22:31.41 We're coming, The Jacksons. 00:22:31.45\00:22:32.98 Those guys were all over the place. 00:22:33.01\00:22:34.95 They work, they were right there with us. 00:22:34.98\00:22:36.58 We just had a great time so... 00:22:36.62\00:22:37.95 Wonderful! It was just... 00:22:37.99\00:22:39.32 It was a blessing to have them there with us. 00:22:39.35\00:22:40.72 Amen. Amen. 00:22:40.76\00:22:42.29 So now how did you move from Ghana to Tanzania? 00:22:42.32\00:22:46.49 Is that where you're working now? 00:22:46.53\00:22:47.86 We're now working in Tanzania. 00:22:47.90\00:22:51.73 One day, someone that was a member of our church, 00:22:51.77\00:22:55.87 Emmanuel Brinklow, Elder Muganda, 00:22:55.90\00:22:58.77 he came and he said, 00:22:58.81\00:23:00.94 "What about coming to my country?" 00:23:00.98\00:23:02.34 Yeah, he said... 00:23:02.38\00:23:03.71 And his country was Tanzania. Okay. 00:23:03.75\00:23:05.95 "So you're going all over the place, every place. 00:23:05.98\00:23:07.85 When are you coming to my country?" 00:23:07.88\00:23:09.22 Yeah. And we said, "We'll come." 00:23:09.25\00:23:11.49 We'll come. We'll come. 00:23:11.52\00:23:12.85 To come to a country to work, this is what we ask. 00:23:12.89\00:23:14.96 We ask for adequate living space for the group, 00:23:14.99\00:23:17.73 and transportation for the group, 00:23:17.76\00:23:19.36 and the main thing is, they have a project 00:23:19.39\00:23:20.96 that we can complete. 00:23:21.00\00:23:22.66 Because we don't want to do a project 00:23:22.70\00:23:24.17 that we cannot complete. 00:23:24.20\00:23:25.53 I understand. 00:23:25.57\00:23:26.90 So with those things in mind, that's how we get to go 00:23:26.94\00:23:29.24 and do different things, you know. 00:23:29.27\00:23:31.24 We were just in Abidjan about a couple of months ago, 00:23:31.27\00:23:34.44 they want us to come and build the school. 00:23:34.48\00:23:35.98 So those are the things we went to check and see 00:23:36.01\00:23:37.65 if they have in place, and they do, 00:23:37.68\00:23:39.01 so we're praying about a time to go there as well. 00:23:39.05\00:23:41.55 Amen. Amen. 00:23:41.58\00:23:42.92 So tell us about the work in Tanzania? 00:23:42.95\00:23:45.05 Oh, wow! 00:23:45.09\00:23:46.42 God has really opened some doors there 00:23:46.45\00:23:48.16 that you weren't expecting because, what I love about 00:23:48.19\00:23:51.33 Global Vessels is that you're just that, 00:23:51.36\00:23:53.90 they're earthen vessels of the, 00:23:53.93\00:23:56.26 of just letting the glory of the Lord shine through them 00:23:56.30\00:23:59.17 to meet people's needs, but you're not always 00:23:59.20\00:24:03.14 that stringent about the needs that you're going to meet. 00:24:03.17\00:24:07.01 So what I'm saying is, 00:24:07.04\00:24:08.44 you don't always build the church, 00:24:08.48\00:24:11.31 there's other projects. 00:24:11.35\00:24:12.85 Tell us what's going on in Tanzania? 00:24:12.88\00:24:15.15 Okay. All right. Well, I'll begin. 00:24:15.18\00:24:19.12 What happened is, we went to Tanzania, 00:24:19.15\00:24:21.72 there's a university, the University of Arusha, 00:24:21.76\00:24:25.03 it's a Seventh-day Adventist University 00:24:25.06\00:24:27.50 and they have a clinic 00:24:27.53\00:24:29.20 and they wanted an extension built onto their clinic. 00:24:29.23\00:24:32.90 And so we went and we built. 00:24:32.93\00:24:35.00 Is this medical clinic 00:24:35.04\00:24:36.37 just for Adventists or did they treat... 00:24:36.40\00:24:37.74 Oh, no. Okay. 00:24:37.77\00:24:39.11 It's for the community. Okay. 00:24:39.14\00:24:40.74 And so we said we build the extension 00:24:40.78\00:24:43.75 on the community, I mean, on the building 00:24:43.78\00:24:46.92 and we would do that for AIDS patients 00:24:46.95\00:24:50.75 and maternity patients. 00:24:50.79\00:24:52.75 That was our goal. 00:24:52.79\00:24:55.39 We did that, we went and we build the clinic. 00:24:55.42\00:24:58.93 But as we were driving up the rugged road 00:24:58.96\00:25:02.46 every day to the clinic, we passed an orphanage, 00:25:02.50\00:25:07.04 and we said, "Let's go in here." 00:25:07.07\00:25:09.20 And we went and we played with the children 00:25:09.24\00:25:12.51 and their living conditions, 00:25:12.54\00:25:14.28 they were living in one small room 00:25:14.31\00:25:16.78 about the size of my kitchen, and they were 24, 00:25:16.81\00:25:19.81 the next year there were 50 in the room. 00:25:19.85\00:25:22.68 And we said, "We have to help them." 00:25:22.72\00:25:24.99 And so we built them some cabinets 00:25:25.02\00:25:27.36 and bought them beds, we bathed them 00:25:27.39\00:25:30.96 and when we got on the plane, 00:25:30.99\00:25:35.13 the mission team said, that wasn't good enough. 00:25:35.16\00:25:38.37 Amen. We have to do better. 00:25:38.40\00:25:40.84 I tell you we... 00:25:40.87\00:25:42.20 While we were there, I went to the group. 00:25:42.24\00:25:46.57 We were actually working on the clinic. 00:25:46.61\00:25:48.11 I said, "Listen, I need money. Give me your money." 00:25:48.14\00:25:50.91 "What do you want?" I said, "Give me money. 00:25:50.95\00:25:52.28 We got to help these children." 00:25:52.31\00:25:53.65 So what we did, we got this huge 55 gallon drum, 00:25:53.68\00:25:56.22 we filled it with water, 00:25:56.25\00:25:57.85 put it on the back of a tractor, 00:25:57.89\00:25:59.22 brought it back to the orphanage 00:25:59.25\00:26:00.59 where the kids were staying. 00:26:00.62\00:26:01.96 We heated the water, and begin to bathe these children, 00:26:01.99\00:26:04.59 comb their hair, put clothes on, 00:26:04.63\00:26:06.80 because we sent the ladies to the store 00:26:06.83\00:26:08.36 to buy flip-flops and clothes for them 00:26:08.40\00:26:10.40 and the children needed to touch. 00:26:10.43\00:26:12.70 When we touched them, yeah, I mean, it just, 00:26:12.73\00:26:15.34 it made a difference in their lives. 00:26:15.37\00:26:17.07 So that's how we got started with this bug 00:26:17.11\00:26:19.64 that we want to do, to do an orphanage. 00:26:19.67\00:26:21.94 All right, so that's what happened to us. 00:26:21.98\00:26:24.45 So the Tanzanian Union gave us 00:26:24.48\00:26:30.09 or they didn't give us, 00:26:30.12\00:26:32.65 they gave us land to use on the school property. 00:26:32.69\00:26:36.96 So we... With the university property. 00:26:36.99\00:26:38.33 With the university property. 00:26:38.36\00:26:40.60 So we have five acres that they allowed us to use 00:26:40.63\00:26:44.07 to begin building the orphanage. 00:26:44.10\00:26:46.87 And so that's where we're located right now, 00:26:46.90\00:26:50.17 on the back of the university property. 00:26:50.21\00:26:52.67 So the orphanage was built when? 00:26:52.71\00:26:54.81 We began the orphanage in 2005 00:26:54.84\00:26:59.21 and we completed it in 2006. 00:26:59.25\00:27:02.72 Okay. 00:27:02.75\00:27:04.09 And that is just by people that just were willing to help. 00:27:04.12\00:27:08.89 They just wanted to see it done. 00:27:08.92\00:27:10.73 But now the thing about an orphanage, 00:27:10.76\00:27:12.59 there's one thing if you go and build a church 00:27:12.63\00:27:16.10 and leave it in the hands of the church members, 00:27:16.13\00:27:18.53 but when you build an orphanage suddenly, 00:27:18.57\00:27:22.20 and you have orphans coming in, you have to have employees, 00:27:22.24\00:27:26.11 directors, people to operate the orphanage. 00:27:26.14\00:27:30.68 Yeah, that's the fine line at the bottom. 00:27:30.71\00:27:32.85 We didn't read that part. 00:27:32.88\00:27:34.22 We just know, we said 00:27:34.25\00:27:35.58 "We're going to build an orphanage," 00:27:35.62\00:27:36.95 and then we, "Oh, 00:27:36.99\00:27:38.55 we have to maintain an orphanage now." 00:27:38.59\00:27:40.32 And you brought a picture of the four beautiful buildings 00:27:40.36\00:27:42.72 that you built on these five acres 00:27:42.76\00:27:44.29 for the orphanage. 00:27:44.33\00:27:45.89 So let's take a look at this new orphanage. 00:27:45.93\00:27:48.90 Yes. 00:27:48.93\00:27:50.27 Yeah, these are the buildings that we've been able to get up. 00:27:50.30\00:27:53.27 And each building has... 00:27:53.30\00:27:55.90 It has sentimental value to us 00:27:55.94\00:27:57.97 because house one Dr. Wallace, Robert Wallace, built it 00:27:58.01\00:28:01.14 in honor of his mother and house two, 00:28:01.18\00:28:04.15 Louise Washington Warnick buildings named after her. 00:28:04.18\00:28:09.15 Her daughter built it in her honor. 00:28:09.18\00:28:10.92 But building three, the Silvers built 00:28:10.95\00:28:14.19 in honor of their daughter Valerie, 00:28:14.22\00:28:15.56 who was killed in the World Trade building. 00:28:15.59\00:28:17.73 So that's very important to us as well. 00:28:17.76\00:28:20.06 And then house four, the Woods, Dr. George Woods 00:28:20.10\00:28:23.30 and Willie Woods built in honor of their son. 00:28:23.33\00:28:25.80 So each home has a little significant for us. 00:28:25.83\00:28:28.47 And to think that little kids who were living 00:28:28.50\00:28:30.44 in a cramped area, the size of your kitchen. 00:28:30.47\00:28:33.88 Now you've got a picture of how the children look 00:28:33.91\00:28:36.61 when they arrive, 00:28:36.64\00:28:38.05 and they're a little bit tattered. 00:28:38.08\00:28:40.62 Let's look at these children. You can see that clearly. 00:28:40.65\00:28:45.75 They're not as clean as they could be 00:28:45.79\00:28:47.99 and they're little bit tattered. 00:28:48.02\00:28:49.56 Who is this woman that's with the children 00:28:49.59\00:28:51.03 that are coming? 00:28:51.06\00:28:52.39 This is their Bibi, which is a grandmother. 00:28:52.43\00:28:55.53 And in many communities 00:28:55.56\00:28:58.23 or in some of these communities, 00:28:58.27\00:29:00.70 the Bibis are helping to raise the children, 00:29:00.74\00:29:04.84 their grandchildren. 00:29:04.87\00:29:06.41 But we'd like to show you 00:29:06.44\00:29:08.34 what we were able to do with them is, 00:29:08.38\00:29:10.98 as they came in to Havilah, and that's Abdul. 00:29:11.01\00:29:16.79 Abdul came to us 00:29:16.82\00:29:18.35 around four years old, and right now... 00:29:18.39\00:29:20.16 He's all spiffed up. 00:29:20.19\00:29:22.12 They got him polished pretty well now. 00:29:22.16\00:29:24.09 And he's 14 years old. 00:29:24.13\00:29:26.86 And we'll show you Abdul. 00:29:26.90\00:29:30.17 We'd like to see a video of Abdul 00:29:30.20\00:29:32.20 and all of the children. 00:29:32.23\00:29:33.94 Right now we have 21 children at the orphanage 00:29:33.97\00:29:37.67 at different ages, different stages of their life, 00:29:37.71\00:29:40.64 but Abdul who is now 14 is going to speak to us. 00:29:40.68\00:29:45.85 Let us pray. 00:29:45.88\00:29:47.22 Thank you, Jesus, for this wonderful day. 00:29:47.25\00:29:49.28 Father, may You guide us, we're gonna start our program, 00:29:49.32\00:29:52.22 please, Father. 00:29:52.25\00:29:53.59 Father, may You guide us our sponsors back in America. 00:29:53.62\00:29:58.13 Father, may You guide them and help us. 00:29:58.16\00:30:01.46 We love you too, may You guide us 00:30:01.50\00:30:02.96 and the directors too. 00:30:03.00\00:30:04.93 May you guide them too. 00:30:04.97\00:30:06.70 Thank you, Father for this day, in Jesus' name we pray, amen. 00:30:06.74\00:30:10.24 Amen. 00:30:10.27\00:30:12.64 My name is Abdul. I'm 14 years old. 00:30:12.67\00:30:16.08 And I'm in standard seven. 00:30:16.11\00:30:19.08 I finished my seventh grade studies 00:30:19.11\00:30:21.88 and I passed my exam. 00:30:21.92\00:30:23.79 I'm looking forward to start from one next year. 00:30:23.82\00:30:27.29 And I like to tell all American Board 00:30:27.32\00:30:31.63 that I tell you, thank you for having me here 00:30:31.66\00:30:35.76 and for Baba Frazier and Mama Virginia 00:30:35.80\00:30:38.40 and for my sponsors and for the directors. 00:30:38.43\00:30:41.70 And my hobby, when I finish my grade 00:30:41.74\00:30:45.34 or my studies, I like to be a pastor. 00:30:45.37\00:30:48.21 Thank you. So who's the next child you want to turn in? 00:32:34.98\00:32:38.09 The next child we're gonna show you 00:32:38.12\00:32:39.72 is the newest of the bunch, he's one and a half years old. 00:32:39.75\00:32:43.43 And she wanted to sing a little song for us. 00:32:43.46\00:32:47.10 And so I thought you should be able 00:32:47.13\00:32:49.50 to hear her sing. 00:32:49.53\00:32:50.87 Her name is Susie, and she runs the show. 00:32:50.90\00:32:54.60 So you can show Susie. 00:32:54.64\00:32:56.50 So, that, I bet that angel of that little six year old, 00:33:42.18\00:33:45.79 she keeps that angel busy I understand. 00:33:45.82\00:33:47.92 Very busy. 00:33:47.96\00:33:49.42 She does when... I'll just say this. 00:33:49.46\00:33:51.99 When we were there in February with Susie, 00:33:52.03\00:33:55.80 we took Susie to her mother's grave site. 00:33:55.83\00:33:59.50 And she was just so happy. 00:33:59.53\00:34:02.84 First of all, when her aunty said 00:34:02.87\00:34:05.64 when she had come during the Christmas holidays, 00:34:05.67\00:34:08.34 she said, after day one she said, 00:34:08.38\00:34:10.85 "I need to go back to Havilah. 00:34:10.88\00:34:12.61 I want to go back." 00:34:12.65\00:34:14.35 And the aunty had to kind of get her in line 00:34:14.38\00:34:18.55 because she packed her suitcase, and said she, 00:34:18.59\00:34:21.46 she was going, coming back, 00:34:21.49\00:34:23.79 but she loved visiting her mother's grave, 00:34:23.83\00:34:25.89 and to have been there, and watch her clean it 00:34:25.93\00:34:29.10 and say, "This is my mom." 00:34:29.13\00:34:32.23 It was heartbreaking. 00:34:32.27\00:34:33.67 It was amazing, but... 00:34:33.70\00:34:35.47 Was her mother an AIDS victim? 00:34:35.50\00:34:37.31 She was. Okay. 00:34:37.34\00:34:38.71 She was and her aunt had her for a little while, 00:34:38.74\00:34:42.74 but she couldn't take care of her. 00:34:42.78\00:34:44.35 She had her own children. 00:34:44.38\00:34:46.58 And the first night, Susie came and stayed at Havilah. 00:34:46.61\00:34:50.09 She said, "I don't want to go home," 00:34:50.12\00:34:53.12 and it was very unusual, but they just kept her 00:34:53.15\00:34:56.76 because she insisted that she should stay where she was. 00:34:56.79\00:34:59.49 Oh, how precious! 00:34:59.53\00:35:00.86 Yeah, that's precious. Yes. 00:41:37.96\00:41:40.60 Well, we can get the picture up there of Ali. 00:41:40.63\00:41:44.30 This particular year, we... 00:41:44.33\00:41:47.00 The building is a 10,000 square foot building 00:41:47.04\00:41:49.34 and we didn't raise a lot of money. 00:41:49.37\00:41:51.11 So we decided to take the mission team. 00:41:51.14\00:41:53.51 I said, "Let's go in the community. 00:41:53.54\00:41:54.98 I asked my house mothers and I said, 00:41:55.01\00:41:58.25 "Who would be the poorest individuals in this community?" 00:41:58.28\00:42:00.75 But certainly doesn't look like these people. 00:42:00.78\00:42:02.68 Yeah, well, they gave me three names. 00:42:02.72\00:42:04.92 The first house I went to, it had about, 00:42:04.95\00:42:07.62 maybe three children running around, 00:42:07.66\00:42:09.79 nobody was there. 00:42:09.82\00:42:11.39 And I said, "Well, I want to build a house. 00:42:11.43\00:42:13.03 This is what I really want to do. 00:42:13.06\00:42:14.70 So we go to Ali's house, and he has asthma so bad, 00:42:14.73\00:42:18.43 he can take maybe 10 or 15 steps 00:42:18.47\00:42:21.17 and he can't move anymore. 00:42:21.20\00:42:22.60 He has six children, two of them deceased, 00:42:22.64\00:42:26.37 two of them married, two living with him. 00:42:26.41\00:42:28.31 His wife is deceased, living in the backyard, 00:42:28.34\00:42:31.45 grave is there in the backyard, 00:42:31.48\00:42:33.62 which is really amazing to me, you know. 00:42:33.65\00:42:36.28 So I go there with the mission team. 00:42:36.32\00:42:39.05 I said, "Listen, we're going to build your house." 00:42:39.09\00:42:40.89 So I physically draw a little diagram on the ground. 00:42:40.92\00:42:43.36 I said, "This is what we're going to build you." 00:42:43.39\00:42:44.99 He says, "Okay, great!" So... 00:42:45.03\00:42:46.63 Now wait a minute, back up, he was praying the day before. 00:42:46.66\00:42:50.17 Tell us what he'd been praying? Well, here's what happened. 00:42:50.20\00:42:53.90 A couple of months later, I go back by myself. 00:42:53.94\00:42:56.71 And he sends word for me to come. 00:42:56.74\00:42:59.11 He says, "Tell him to come here I need to talk to him." 00:42:59.14\00:43:00.81 I said "Okay. I go there, the house is up." 00:43:00.84\00:43:03.45 He says, "Tell him, you really don't know 00:43:03.48\00:43:05.28 what you've done for me." 00:43:05.31\00:43:06.65 I said, "What do you mean?" 00:43:06.68\00:43:08.02 He says, "The night before you came" and said, 00:43:08.05\00:43:10.12 "You're going to build me a house." 00:43:10.15\00:43:11.49 He says, "I'm on my knees praying." 00:43:11.52\00:43:12.85 I said "Lord, where are you? 00:43:12.89\00:43:14.72 I have two children that are dead. 00:43:14.76\00:43:16.59 My wife is dead. 00:43:16.62\00:43:18.33 And me and my children here are struggling, where are you?" 00:43:18.36\00:43:20.80 And he says, "And that moment, you knocked that morning 00:43:20.83\00:43:23.60 rather, you knocked on my door and says, 00:43:23.63\00:43:25.37 'We're going to build your house."' 00:43:25.40\00:43:27.10 I mean to me it was amazing, letting me know that, 00:43:27.14\00:43:29.50 you know, God really hears you when you pray. 00:43:29.54\00:43:32.31 Now you brought a picture of the house 00:43:32.34\00:43:33.78 that the way it looked when you first met him 00:43:33.81\00:43:36.81 and had the chicken coops and everything. 00:43:36.85\00:43:38.28 Don't you have that? No, we don't have that one. 00:43:38.31\00:43:39.98 Oh, you don't have that picture. 00:43:40.02\00:43:41.65 Oh! No, we got the finish house. 00:43:41.68\00:43:43.25 Oh, it's amazing because I got to see that I guess online, 00:43:43.28\00:43:46.89 but he was living in this little dump that you could see 00:43:46.92\00:43:51.33 the sky coming through the roof, 00:43:51.36\00:43:54.46 and it was this little shack, 00:43:54.50\00:43:56.26 and then there was these shaky little chicken coops. 00:43:56.30\00:44:00.00 And so what you did was you told them that 00:44:00.04\00:44:03.34 they'd live in the house. 00:44:03.37\00:44:04.87 He'd stay, and you did knock down his shed house. 00:44:04.91\00:44:09.01 You just took out the chicken coops 00:44:09.04\00:44:10.61 and that's where you built. 00:44:10.65\00:44:12.15 And here's this man that has nothing. 00:44:12.18\00:44:14.68 And now let's look at the... 00:44:14.72\00:44:16.79 And asthma so bad that your doctors had to make sure 00:44:16.82\00:44:19.95 to treat him for that, didn't they? 00:44:19.99\00:44:21.52 Let's look at the completed picture now. 00:44:21.56\00:44:23.93 What, he looks so happy 00:44:23.96\00:44:26.09 in front of his new brick home here. 00:44:26.13\00:44:28.36 It's just precious. 00:44:28.40\00:44:30.07 They're going to show it again. Yes. 00:44:30.10\00:44:31.83 Yeah, you can bring that picture. 00:44:31.87\00:44:33.20 Yeah, there we go. 00:44:33.23\00:44:35.40 The other thing about Ali is, now, 00:44:35.44\00:44:38.61 when we come to town, we're like stars. 00:44:38.64\00:44:41.54 Oh, sure. He's so happy to see us. 00:44:41.58\00:44:43.88 As a matter of fact, on his door, he said, 00:44:43.91\00:44:46.11 "Everyone welcome, especially Havilah." 00:44:46.15\00:44:48.88 Oh, how precious! 00:44:48.92\00:44:50.65 And now we take care, which we do for several people. 00:44:50.69\00:44:54.39 If anyone comes to us, we try to, 00:44:54.42\00:44:56.49 we take a physician with us. 00:44:56.52\00:44:58.76 We try to help take care of their medical needs. 00:44:58.79\00:45:01.13 And so we buy his medicine for him. 00:45:01.16\00:45:03.87 We buy his medical card and... Which is like insurance. 00:45:03.90\00:45:07.30 Which is like insurance. Okay. 00:45:07.34\00:45:09.34 And we're trying to keep him and his children going. 00:45:09.37\00:45:13.07 So he went from being the poorest person 00:45:13.11\00:45:16.71 in the village to probably having one of the better homes. 00:45:16.75\00:45:19.25 Yeah, I mean, children going to school. 00:45:19.28\00:45:20.75 He has the best house on the plot. 00:45:20.78\00:45:22.45 And his daughter became popular. 00:45:22.48\00:45:24.65 She was not popular before 00:45:24.69\00:45:26.72 because all the kids from school 00:45:26.76\00:45:28.09 would come and watch building. 00:45:28.12\00:45:30.13 The building going on 00:45:30.16\00:45:31.63 and his daughter became popular. 00:45:31.66\00:45:33.60 And that's what we try to do. 00:45:33.63\00:45:34.96 We try to be a blessing. Okay. 00:45:35.00\00:45:37.43 So when we go, each trip that we go on, 00:45:37.47\00:45:40.84 we basically go to the market, and we buy 25 pound bags 00:45:40.87\00:45:44.41 of rice, and sugar, and soap. 00:45:44.44\00:45:47.34 And then we get Ziploc bags, and have our children, 00:45:47.38\00:45:50.08 orphaned children put them in the bags 00:45:50.11\00:45:52.18 and then we take clothing. 00:45:52.21\00:45:53.78 Because I tell my kids, I said, "Listen, 00:45:53.82\00:45:55.45 whatever clothes you're not wearing 00:45:55.48\00:45:57.09 and you no longer want, bring them to us." 00:45:57.12\00:45:59.92 So they gather the clothes, 00:45:59.95\00:46:01.92 and then we have the Ziploc bags 00:46:01.96\00:46:03.39 with all the food in and we go in the community. 00:46:03.43\00:46:06.39 And this is the orphans who were passing this out. 00:46:06.43\00:46:08.50 Orphans are passing it out, because we want them to say, 00:46:08.53\00:46:11.53 we try to get them to understand 00:46:11.57\00:46:12.90 just because you are an orphan, that does not mean that 00:46:12.93\00:46:14.70 you can't help. 00:46:14.74\00:46:16.07 Yes. So here we are. 00:46:16.10\00:46:17.44 One day we're passing out everything, 00:46:17.47\00:46:19.14 the food, passing out clothing, 00:46:19.17\00:46:21.61 and we're coming back to the orphanage, 00:46:21.64\00:46:23.08 everybody singing, we're happy, the kids are happy. 00:46:23.11\00:46:26.25 And I look at my rearview mirror 00:46:26.28\00:46:27.62 and I see this little bitty kid running, running, running 00:46:27.65\00:46:29.78 trying to catch up with us. 00:46:29.82\00:46:31.22 So I stopped, and I stop and I said, 00:46:31.25\00:46:34.22 "Hey, how're you doing?" 00:46:34.26\00:46:35.59 He says, "Do you have anything else?" 00:46:35.62\00:46:37.03 I said "Oh, man. No, we don't have anything. 00:46:37.06\00:46:39.46 We've given out all the food, all the clothes, 00:46:39.49\00:46:41.43 we have nothing left." 00:46:41.46\00:46:42.93 My little five year old Simon pulls off his shirt, 00:46:42.96\00:46:46.63 and gives it to the little boy. 00:46:46.67\00:46:48.00 How precious! 00:46:48.04\00:46:49.37 I lost it. Yeah. 00:46:49.40\00:46:50.94 Because now I understand that they understand. 00:46:50.97\00:46:53.07 Amen. 00:46:53.11\00:46:54.44 They understand that it's not how much you accumulate, 00:46:54.48\00:46:56.68 but how much you give away that really matters. 00:46:56.71\00:46:58.15 Amen. 00:46:58.18\00:46:59.51 So that is something we do every trip we go. 00:46:59.55\00:47:01.78 We make sure that they participate 00:47:01.82\00:47:03.15 in giving back. 00:47:03.18\00:47:04.52 Now at that time, you had the van 00:47:04.55\00:47:06.96 that was costing you one arm and a leg to operate. 00:47:06.99\00:47:10.69 Right now though, that van has given up the ghost. 00:47:10.73\00:47:14.40 That's all you can say. It's given up the ghost. 00:47:14.43\00:47:17.17 So you're actually looking for funds to purchase a vehicle. 00:47:17.20\00:47:21.04 Yeah. Is that right? 00:47:21.07\00:47:22.40 We need a vehicle to take them to church and, you know, 00:47:22.44\00:47:25.01 take them on Halloweens, take them to school, 00:47:25.04\00:47:27.34 because the one we had, it was just, it's fringed. 00:47:27.38\00:47:30.41 It did well. It was too costly. 00:47:30.45\00:47:32.11 It did well, but after a while, 00:47:32.15\00:47:33.48 you just have to let it go, you know. 00:47:33.52\00:47:35.12 And so when they have to go to school, 00:47:35.15\00:47:36.99 when they have to be taken to school by the directors, 00:47:37.02\00:47:40.39 they all pile in the car, 00:47:40.42\00:47:42.82 14 of them, and it's a small car. 00:47:42.86\00:47:45.66 And they're in the trunk of the car, 00:47:45.69\00:47:47.93 and they're probably on like roof. 00:47:47.96\00:47:49.63 Like the clown acting. 00:47:49.66\00:47:51.00 Right, exactly, exactly. They... 00:47:51.03\00:47:52.83 But they get there, but... That's amazing. 00:47:52.87\00:47:55.27 And we have sent them, 00:47:55.30\00:47:56.71 we try to send them to the best Christian school 00:47:56.74\00:48:01.28 and where they're learning about Jesus and being taught. 00:48:01.31\00:48:08.02 The pastors there are Adventist. 00:48:08.05\00:48:11.72 But it's not close, 00:48:11.75\00:48:13.62 the school is not as close as we'd like it to be, 00:48:13.66\00:48:16.69 but we want them to have the best advantage 00:48:16.73\00:48:19.56 that they can have when they leave Havilah. 00:48:19.59\00:48:21.26 I know they have... 00:48:21.30\00:48:22.63 I know you have four children, but these, 00:48:22.66\00:48:24.27 now you've got a whole bunch more children. 00:48:24.30\00:48:26.43 These are our children. Yeah. 00:48:26.47\00:48:27.80 They're your babies. They're our babies. 00:48:27.84\00:48:29.40 Well, you know I just, I believe with all my heart 00:48:29.44\00:48:32.27 that some of you who are watching are saying, 00:48:32.31\00:48:35.74 "How can I help this ministry?" 00:48:35.78\00:48:38.61 Perhaps you would like to sponsor a child 00:48:38.65\00:48:40.82 or maybe you'd like to donate toward the purchase of a van 00:48:40.85\00:48:44.95 so that they can be transported safely 00:48:44.99\00:48:48.72 to these school and church and all these events, 00:48:48.76\00:48:51.79 or maybe you want to go with them 00:48:51.83\00:48:55.66 on the next mission trip. 00:48:55.70\00:48:57.50 And I have to say, if you have young children, 00:48:57.53\00:49:02.67 youth, who are just, they just don't seem to get it, 00:49:02.70\00:49:07.08 that they feel like, you know, 00:49:07.11\00:49:08.51 you feel like they're not interested in church, 00:49:08.54\00:49:11.01 take your kids on a mission trip 00:49:11.05\00:49:14.12 and watch what God will do. 00:49:14.15\00:49:16.28 I see it all the time where young people's lives 00:49:16.32\00:49:20.02 are turned around when they go off and see, 00:49:20.06\00:49:23.29 because first it makes you appreciate 00:49:23.32\00:49:25.23 how much you've got 00:49:25.26\00:49:26.73 but secondly, when you can actually be used 00:49:26.76\00:49:29.86 by God in the field. 00:49:29.90\00:49:31.70 It, you can't help, as you all say 00:49:31.73\00:49:33.97 your motto is blessing others, you get a blessing. 00:49:34.00\00:49:39.07 So it's bless and be blessed. That's where we're gonna go. 00:50:50.71\00:50:52.81 And what are you gonna do? We build high school. 00:50:52.85\00:50:55.08 A high school? A high school. 00:50:55.12\00:50:56.55 Yes, they asked us to come and do a high school. 00:50:56.58\00:50:59.59 So is this an Adventist school? Adventist school. 00:50:59.62\00:51:02.42 They've been praying for this for many, many years. 00:51:02.46\00:51:05.59 As a matter of fact, they've actually started 00:51:05.63\00:51:08.53 for the last 15 years, and they have a section 00:51:08.56\00:51:11.03 maybe 20 feet by 20 feet. 00:51:11.07\00:51:13.77 But they're determined to do it. 00:51:13.80\00:51:15.14 I mean, when I went there, I was just saying 00:51:15.17\00:51:16.94 "Lord, I got to help these people." 00:51:16.97\00:51:18.74 We got to help because they trust God to get it done. 00:51:18.77\00:51:22.18 So we're gonna go and try to help them to get it done. 00:51:22.21\00:51:24.55 And the other thing is very important, 00:51:24.58\00:51:26.72 that is life changing. 00:51:26.75\00:51:28.22 So if you want to go with us, especially young people. 00:51:28.25\00:51:30.42 One story, mother called me on the phone 00:51:30.45\00:51:32.69 after the mission trip, "What did you do to my son? 00:51:32.72\00:51:35.02 What did you do to him?" 00:51:35.06\00:51:36.39 I said, "What's the matter? Calm down. 00:51:36.42\00:51:37.76 Well, now he's turning off the light. 00:51:37.79\00:51:39.23 He's telling us we're wasting too much food. 00:51:39.26\00:51:40.83 He knows when he wants to be in college. 00:51:40.86\00:51:42.66 He's a totally different person." 00:51:42.70\00:51:44.53 I said, "Yes, because he saw individuals of his age 00:51:44.57\00:51:48.10 who had absolutely nothing and they were praising God." 00:51:48.14\00:51:51.57 So it recalibrates their thinking. 00:51:51.61\00:51:54.54 And so that's why it's so exciting 00:51:54.58\00:51:56.68 to take young people. 00:51:56.71\00:51:58.05 In this particular trip to the west coast, Abidjan, 00:51:58.08\00:52:01.75 will be an excellent one for someone 00:52:01.78\00:52:03.55 to take their young people with us. 00:52:03.59\00:52:04.92 And, can remind us again of your web address. 00:52:04.95\00:52:07.72 GlobalVessels.org. 00:52:07.76\00:52:09.72 So they can go to GlobalVessels.org 00:52:09.76\00:52:11.96 and you can get information on this next trip 00:52:11.99\00:52:15.00 if you want to take you and your youth 00:52:15.03\00:52:17.30 to the Ivory Coast and help build a high school. 00:52:17.33\00:52:20.30 Well, we are going to take just a short break, 00:52:20.34\00:52:23.34 so that we can hear what's the latest thing 00:52:23.37\00:52:26.04 happening at 3ABN 00:52:26.07\00:52:27.78 and then we'll be back with a closing thought. 00:52:27.81\00:52:29.71
