'80s. 00:05:53.65\00:05:54.98 And so it can handle a little bit larger capacity, 00:05:55.02\00:05:58.32 and in fact the conference church 00:05:58.35\00:06:00.46 was on the campus 00:06:00.49\00:06:03.06 is in a building project currently 00:06:03.09\00:06:06.26 and they're going to be groundbreaking 00:06:06.29\00:06:07.63 I think in October. 00:06:07.66\00:06:09.00 Well, fantastic. 00:06:09.03\00:06:10.90 So I know that the founders of Uchee Pines, 00:06:10.93\00:06:13.87 tell us about them because they are not strangers to you, 00:06:13.90\00:06:16.57 those long time viewers of 3ABN, 00:06:16.60\00:06:18.71 so tell us the founders? 00:06:18.74\00:06:20.44 The founders of Uchee Pines, 00:06:20.48\00:06:22.44 the two most prominent founders that individuals recognize 00:06:22.48\00:06:25.65 are Dr. S. Calvin and Agatha Thrash. 00:06:25.68\00:06:28.72 First, Dr. Agatha had many programs on 3ABN. 00:06:28.75\00:06:31.45 She did, she did a great job. Yeah. 00:06:31.49\00:06:33.36 And they were very popular too. 00:06:33.39\00:06:34.72 Yup. 00:06:34.76\00:06:36.09 And he was an internist, she was a pathologist, 00:06:36.12\00:06:38.46 both of them working in Columbus, Georgia 00:06:38.49\00:06:40.73 and Dr. Agatha was the first one to be caught up 00:06:40.76\00:06:45.33 with the Adventist health message. 00:06:45.37\00:06:47.54 Dr. Calvin kind of dragged his feet a little bit 00:06:47.57\00:06:49.64 for a while 00:06:49.67\00:06:51.01 as I'm told by Cal, their son 00:06:51.04\00:06:52.91 and she was very interested in the message, 00:06:52.94\00:06:57.78 but recognized that 00:06:57.81\00:06:59.15 it would require a lot of sacrifice. 00:06:59.18\00:07:01.52 And they ended up doing a lot of sacrifice, 00:07:01.55\00:07:03.99 a lot of their social ties and so on and so forth 00:07:04.02\00:07:07.82 what should I say, were severed in the process. 00:07:07.86\00:07:10.53 They bought a 200 farm... 00:07:10.56\00:07:11.89 a 200 acre farm 00:07:11.93\00:07:13.26 where Uchee Pines currently is located. 00:07:13.29\00:07:15.10 They started a little health food store 00:07:15.13\00:07:16.90 in the basement of their home 00:07:16.93\00:07:18.63 and that later became... 00:07:18.67\00:07:20.37 transferred over to country life restaurant 00:07:20.40\00:07:22.17 and health food store 00:07:22.20\00:07:23.54 where we currently have it in Columbus, Georgia, 00:07:23.57\00:07:25.41 the only vegan restaurant in Columbus. 00:07:25.44\00:07:27.74 Oh, wow. Incredible. 00:07:27.78\00:07:29.11 And the work has just grown hundreds and hundreds of people 00:07:29.14\00:07:31.85 that have been trained through the years 00:07:31.88\00:07:33.88 and we have missionaries that are all over the world 00:07:33.92\00:07:37.62 and that are conducting medical missionary work, 00:07:37.65\00:07:40.92 that are training individuals, that have started institutions 00:07:40.96\00:07:44.53 and it's been an inspiring work. 00:07:44.56\00:07:48.03 Amen. 00:07:48.06\00:07:49.40 You know, a lot of sacrifice, you know, you think about it, 00:07:49.43\00:07:51.23 yeah, but what a powerful work, 00:07:51.27\00:07:53.00 the medical missionary work is. 00:07:53.03\00:07:54.64 Well, Jill, we're getting into this already 00:07:54.67\00:07:56.00 aren't we? 00:07:56.04\00:07:57.37 We should go to some music, who is our music... 00:07:57.41\00:07:58.74 We should. 00:07:58.77\00:08:00.11 Oh, you have some scripture too, don't you? 00:08:00.14\00:08:01.48 I am gonna read the scripture first, okay. 00:08:01.51\00:08:02.84 The scripture here is from Psalm 103:2. 00:08:02.88\00:08:07.58 The Bible says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul 00:08:07.62\00:08:09.65 and forget not all his benefits, 00:08:09.68\00:08:12.59 who forgives all your iniquities, 00:08:12.62\00:08:15.19 who heals all your diseases." Amen. 00:08:15.22\00:08:18.19 And I want to read verse 4, 00:08:18.23\00:08:19.56 "Who redeems your life from destruction, 00:08:19.59\00:08:21.90 who crowns you 00:08:21.93\00:08:23.26 with loving kindness and tender mercies." 00:08:23.30\00:08:25.80 What a wonderful merciful God we serve. 00:08:25.83\00:08:27.84 And I think about the sacrifice and dedication 00:08:27.87\00:08:30.84 as you were mentioning Dr. Mark 00:08:30.87\00:08:32.44 of Dr. Agatha and Dr. Calvin Thrash. 00:08:32.47\00:08:35.54 And how God gave them a vision and a dream 00:08:35.58\00:08:37.95 and how that has been walked out in reality 00:08:37.98\00:08:41.62 and the hundreds and hundreds of people's lives 00:08:41.65\00:08:44.19 probably thousands, 00:08:44.22\00:08:45.59 who have been impacted and blessed for eternity, 00:08:45.62\00:08:48.19 so praise the lord for that. 00:08:48.22\00:08:49.56 We have some music right now we want to go to 00:08:49.59\00:08:51.83 and then we'll go to the rest of our interview here. 00:08:51.86\00:08:54.56 Gerry Lynn Mendenhall is here with us 00:08:54.60\00:08:57.67 and she would be doing a song, Amazing Grace. 00:08:57.70\00:09:00.80 Amen. 00:09:00.84\00:09:02.34 Amazing Grace 00:09:17.62\00:09:21.46 How sweet the sound 00:09:21.49\00:09:25.36 That saved a wretch like me 00:09:25.39\00:09:31.27 I once was lost 00:09:33.17\00:09:37.04 But now am found 00:09:37.07\00:09:40.81 'Twas blind but now I see 00:09:40.84\00:09:46.82 'Twas grace that taught 00:09:48.75\00:09:52.59 My heart to fear 00:09:52.62\00:09:56.49 And grace, my fears 00:09:56.52\00:10:00.40 Relieved 00:10:00.43\00:10:04.17 How precious did 00:10:04.20\00:10:08.14 That grace appear 00:10:08.17\00:10:11.94 The hour I first believed 00:10:11.97\00:10:18.81 My chains are gone 00:10:18.85\00:10:22.72 I've been set free 00:10:22.75\00:10:26.62 My God, my Savior 00:10:26.65\00:10:30.43 Has ransomed me 00:10:30.46\00:10:34.46 And like a flood 00:10:34.50\00:10:38.43 His mercy reigns 00:10:38.47\00:10:42.34 Unending love 00:10:42.37\00:10:46.41 Amazing grace 00:10:46.44\00:10:50.18 The Lord has promised 00:10:58.89\00:11:03.29 Good to me 00:11:03.32\00:11:06.63 His word my hope 00:11:06.66\00:11:10.40 Secures 00:11:10.43\00:11:14.20 He will my shield 00:11:14.24\00:11:18.21 And portion be 00:11:18.24\00:11:21.94 As long as life endures 00:11:21.98\00:11:28.52 My chains are gone 00:11:28.55\00:11:32.49 I've been set free 00:11:32.52\00:11:36.26 My God, my Savior 00:11:36.29\00:11:40.13 Has ransomed me 00:11:40.16\00:11:43.87 And like a flood 00:11:43.90\00:11:47.90 His mercy reigns 00:11:47.94\00:11:51.71 Unending love 00:11:51.74\00:11:55.51 Amazing grace 00:11:55.54\00:11:59.21 My chains are gone 00:11:59.25\00:12:02.98 I've been set free 00:12:03.02\00:12:06.92 My God, my Savior 00:12:06.96\00:12:10.59 Has ransomed me 00:12:10.63\00:12:14.36 And like a flood 00:12:14.40\00:12:18.30 His mercy reigns 00:12:18.33\00:12:22.10 Unending love 00:12:22.14\00:12:25.91 Amazing grace 00:12:25.94\00:12:30.81 The earth shall soon 00:12:30.85\00:12:34.72 Dissolve like snow 00:12:34.75\00:12:38.49 The sun forbear 00:12:38.52\00:12:42.22 To shine 00:12:42.26\00:12:46.09 But God 00:12:46.13\00:12:48.16 Who called me here below 00:12:48.20\00:12:53.90 Will be 00:12:53.94\00:12:56.04 Forever mine 00:12:56.07\00:13:01.81 Will be 00:13:01.84\00:13:03.75 Forever mine 00:13:03.78\00:13:09.45 You are 00:13:09.48\00:13:11.69 Forever 00:13:11.72\00:13:16.42 Mine. 00:13:16.46\00:13:18.59 Amen, what a powerful song, Amazing Grace, 00:13:28.40\00:13:31.11 we appreciate God's amazing grace, don't we? 00:13:31.14\00:13:33.31 It's a blessing. 00:13:33.34\00:13:34.68 What a wonderful gift salvation is too. 00:13:34.71\00:13:36.04 Amen. 00:13:36.08\00:13:37.41 Thank you, Gerry Lynn and CD... 00:13:37.45\00:13:39.55 C.W. Yes, we do. 00:15:34.76\00:15:36.73 That's great, well, praise the Lord. 00:15:36.77\00:15:39.13 So Elder Livermore, 00:15:39.17\00:15:40.50 I know that you are the president 00:15:40.54\00:15:41.94 of the Gulf States Conference. 00:15:41.97\00:15:44.44 And so you don't work at Uchee Pines, 00:15:44.47\00:15:46.64 but somehow you're tied in here with Uchee Pines, 00:15:46.68\00:15:48.64 so tell us a little bit about your story? 00:15:48.68\00:15:50.55 Well, Uchee Pines is actually in our conference, 00:15:50.58\00:15:52.78 so one of our pastors over there is the pastor. 00:15:52.81\00:15:57.09 But at the end of the... 00:15:57.12\00:15:58.55 So there is a connection that way. 00:15:58.59\00:15:59.92 There is a connection. That's true. 00:15:59.95\00:16:01.29 It's a good point. 00:16:01.32\00:16:02.66 But there, maybe in December, 00:16:02.69\00:16:05.66 we got talking about a ministry to retreat 00:16:05.69\00:16:08.20 and we need to go somewhere in January. 00:16:08.23\00:16:11.43 I'll tell you, 00:16:11.47\00:16:12.80 December was pretty tough on me. 00:16:12.83\00:16:14.57 I was getting pains around my heart 00:16:14.60\00:16:18.74 just any quick movement at all. 00:16:18.77\00:16:21.74 I also was really being exhausted. 00:16:21.78\00:16:24.71 I mean, I'm a pretty hyper, high energy guy, 00:16:24.75\00:16:27.62 always been 00:16:27.65\00:16:29.25 and I came out of the car from my driveway, 00:16:29.28\00:16:33.72 walked into the house and I could barely make it 00:16:33.76\00:16:36.12 and I just worked an eight hour day 00:16:36.16\00:16:38.59 and my wife looked at me, she said, "What's wrong?" 00:16:38.63\00:16:40.90 I said, "I'm just exhausted." 00:16:40.93\00:16:43.40 So, even walking from the car to the house was exhaustive. 00:16:43.43\00:16:46.43 I was just so tired, yeah, just tired, 00:16:46.47\00:16:48.37 and went right to bed. Well, that's not me at all. 00:16:48.40\00:16:52.34 So my wife said, 00:16:52.37\00:16:53.71 "I'm kind of worried about you," 00:16:53.74\00:16:55.08 you know, I said, "I'm okay, I'm okay." 00:16:55.11\00:16:56.81 And I'm the kind of guy, just I like my work, 00:16:56.85\00:17:00.58 I wasn't taking care of myself and it caught up to me. 00:17:00.62\00:17:04.09 So on this ministry of retreat, 00:17:04.12\00:17:07.02 we got talking and the treasurer said, 00:17:07.06\00:17:10.56 let's go to Uchee Pines. 00:17:10.59\00:17:11.99 For your ministry of retreat? 00:17:12.03\00:17:13.36 Yeah, and I said, "Uchee Pines? 00:17:13.40\00:17:17.90 Why would we go there?" 00:17:17.93\00:17:20.17 And the treasurer just never reneged on it 00:17:20.20\00:17:23.27 just kind of kept, 00:17:23.30\00:17:24.77 this is where we need to go 00:17:24.81\00:17:26.14 and the vice president of administration said, 00:17:26.17\00:17:28.91 "I think we should go, Dave." 00:17:28.94\00:17:31.18 So I was the last one and I was pretty like, 00:17:31.21\00:17:34.35 I don't really care to go there, you know. 00:17:34.38\00:17:37.59 But we went, 00:17:37.62\00:17:38.95 I was the last one to arrive on Sunday night, 00:17:38.99\00:17:44.16 you know, Monday they drew blood and everything 00:17:44.19\00:17:46.80 and they put you on a diet, 00:17:46.83\00:17:48.26 it's a pretty wild place, you know, 00:17:48.30\00:17:49.86 there's some, contrast showers, there's things that happened. 00:17:49.90\00:17:54.60 So, what is a contrast shower? 00:17:54.64\00:17:55.97 Someone may say, well, what's that? 00:17:56.00\00:17:57.34 Oh, I would love to show you what it is, 00:17:57.37\00:17:58.94 just tell you about it. 00:17:58.97\00:18:00.98 So contrast, obviously, there's something, 00:18:01.01\00:18:02.34 they're opposite. 00:18:02.38\00:18:03.71 Yes, it's a true contrast between hot and cold. 00:18:03.75\00:18:05.91 Okay, hot and cold water. 00:18:05.95\00:18:07.82 They put you on a chair and there's jets everywhere, 00:18:07.85\00:18:11.49 they hit you from right at your lower ankles 00:18:11.52\00:18:14.06 to your head. 00:18:14.09\00:18:15.42 So in other words you can't avoid it, the water. 00:18:15.46\00:18:16.79 Oh, no, you have your swimming suit on, 00:18:16.83\00:18:18.39 you're in a chair 00:18:18.43\00:18:19.86 and they just heat it up 00:18:19.89\00:18:21.23 and they heat it as hot as they can get it 00:18:21.26\00:18:23.03 till you say, "Okay that's good, that's good." 00:18:23.06\00:18:25.30 And then they run that for like three minutes 00:18:25.33\00:18:27.67 and then they just hit it cold for 30 seconds. 00:18:27.70\00:18:31.24 They give you a warning? 00:18:31.27\00:18:32.61 Yeah, they kind, they count it down for you, 00:18:32.64\00:18:34.48 but it's common, 00:18:34.51\00:18:35.84 let me tell you. 00:18:35.88\00:18:37.21 And, man, the first... 00:18:37.25\00:18:39.15 oh, the first one is just like what in the world... 00:18:39.18\00:18:43.72 Kind of makes you holler a little bit. 00:18:43.75\00:18:45.09 Oh yeah, yeah. 00:18:45.12\00:18:46.99 But, you know, then they, 00:18:47.02\00:18:48.36 I did a Russian sauna and, you know, 00:18:48.39\00:18:50.76 but, you know, as funny as it may sound to us, 00:18:50.79\00:18:55.96 there was an effect on me. 00:18:56.00\00:18:58.37 In like, when you're done out of that contrast shower, 00:18:58.40\00:19:01.20 the Russian sauna, 00:19:01.24\00:19:03.57 they take you back to your room and you lay down on your bed, 00:19:03.61\00:19:07.68 they wrap you up in a... 00:19:07.71\00:19:09.14 They have a plastic sheet, wrap you up in a blanket 00:19:09.18\00:19:12.31 and you rest for 30 minutes. 00:19:12.35\00:19:14.68 I was so tired when I came back to my room, 00:19:14.72\00:19:17.49 I lay down and just exhausted. 00:19:17.52\00:19:21.19 I slept, and I woke up, 00:19:21.22\00:19:22.56 and I went, "You know, I feel better, I feel better." 00:19:22.59\00:19:27.63 Was this the first day? 00:19:27.66\00:19:29.86 It was during the five days. 00:19:29.90\00:19:31.70 Okay, okay. Yeah. 00:19:31.73\00:19:33.07 So if I can interrupt for one moment, Dr. Mark, 00:19:33.10\00:19:35.40 so what would be the purpose of doing a contrast shower 00:19:35.44\00:19:38.14 or the steam bath, the Russian sauna? 00:19:38.17\00:19:40.68 How does that help your body physiologically? 00:19:40.71\00:19:43.08 Well, the hydrotherapy treatments were 00:19:43.11\00:19:45.21 like the contrast showers we're talking about 00:19:45.25\00:19:47.68 with the heat and the cold, 00:19:47.72\00:19:49.05 it helps to change or manipulate circulation, 00:19:49.08\00:19:51.89 with the heat it causes the blood vessels to dilate, 00:19:51.92\00:19:54.32 with the cold it causes them to constrict. 00:19:54.36\00:19:56.46 We know that contrast treatments like that 00:19:56.49\00:19:59.73 helped increase the circulation of white blood cells, 00:19:59.76\00:20:02.26 it helps with immune system's function. 00:20:02.30\00:20:05.43 And I have used it on a number of occasions 00:20:05.47\00:20:08.57 when I have been... 00:20:08.60\00:20:10.87 When I know that I'm starting to come down with a cold, 00:20:10.91\00:20:13.21 you get that scratchy throat, 00:20:13.24\00:20:14.58 or you're feeling that kind of achy feeling 00:20:14.61\00:20:17.61 and you know you're right on the verge. 00:20:17.65\00:20:19.18 You jump in and get into contrast shower 00:20:19.21\00:20:21.62 in about five exchanges back and forth. 00:20:21.65\00:20:24.05 And on cold, get up, wrap up in bed 00:20:24.09\00:20:27.79 and it really helps 00:20:27.82\00:20:29.89 and there's been a number of times 00:20:29.92\00:20:31.26 when I've been able to avoid an illness 00:20:31.29\00:20:33.83 from that standpoint. That's great. 00:20:33.86\00:20:35.46 And it really helps invigorate 00:20:35.50\00:20:36.83 and individuals that have like, anxiety, depression 00:20:36.87\00:20:39.53 other things like that 00:20:39.57\00:20:41.10 it also helps in that situation as well. 00:20:41.14\00:20:43.54 Okay, okay, I'm sorry, Pastor Dave. 00:20:43.57\00:20:45.64 Oh, no problem. 00:20:45.67\00:20:47.64 So those treatments are going on, 00:20:47.68\00:20:50.48 a drastic change in diet, you know, when we got there 00:20:50.51\00:20:53.82 and, you know, I put in there for weight loss 00:20:53.85\00:20:58.02 that they want a reason why you're there. 00:20:58.05\00:20:59.69 So I wrote on the application for weight loss 00:20:59.72\00:21:03.12 and I weighed 266 pounds when I got there. 00:21:03.16\00:21:07.56 Oh, wow. 00:21:07.60\00:21:08.93 And so when I'm eating, 00:21:08.96\00:21:11.10 there you are assigned like a counselor, 00:21:11.13\00:21:13.54 a private counselor. Oh, that's nice. 00:21:13.57\00:21:15.67 Very kind, 00:21:15.70\00:21:17.04 very, just couldn't have been better for me, 00:21:17.07\00:21:19.54 prayed for me so many times. 00:21:19.57\00:21:21.21 So when I'm get to eat breakfast and lunch, 00:21:21.24\00:21:26.08 he would say to me, 00:21:26.11\00:21:27.45 "Now remember why you're here, you know, 00:21:27.48\00:21:30.05 so just don't load up, just whatever food is there, 00:21:30.09\00:21:34.32 you know, be careful." 00:21:34.36\00:21:35.69 So moderation. 00:21:35.72\00:21:37.06 Yes. 00:21:37.09\00:21:38.43 And, but then no supper, no snacks, just water or tea. 00:21:38.46\00:21:44.13 So pretty drastic for me. 00:21:44.17\00:21:46.53 Was it hard? 00:21:46.57\00:21:49.80 Very hard. Yeah, very hard, 00:21:49.84\00:21:52.54 maybe not the five days I was there, 00:21:52.57\00:21:54.81 but when I left, very hard adjustment. 00:21:54.84\00:21:59.01 I'd really let myself go, 00:21:59.05\00:22:01.35 but I want to get back to the blood work 00:22:01.38\00:22:03.79 because when Dr. Sandoval sat down with me on Thursday, 00:22:03.82\00:22:07.36 I had the blood work on Monday, 00:22:07.39\00:22:08.72 he sat down with me on Thursday. 00:22:08.76\00:22:11.66 You know, I just, you know, you kind of just, 00:22:11.69\00:22:14.76 you know, I'm 66 years old, 00:22:14.80\00:22:16.93 I'm been a hard worker all my life, 00:22:16.97\00:22:20.37 you know, I'm always healthy, 00:22:20.40\00:22:22.64 I'm always kind of good frame of mind. 00:22:22.67\00:22:24.37 Yeah, you look good. Yeah. 00:22:24.41\00:22:25.74 Good now. Absolutely! 00:22:25.77\00:22:27.11 Yeah, you know, and I guess you just work hard and... 00:22:27.14\00:22:29.68 Of course. 00:22:29.71\00:22:31.05 So, I wasn't as careful 00:22:31.08\00:22:32.41 with what I was eating or exercise. 00:22:32.45\00:22:35.38 So when Dr. Sandoval sat down with me 00:22:35.42\00:22:38.75 and said, "You've got diabetes, 00:22:38.79\00:22:41.96 you've got heart trouble, 00:22:41.99\00:22:45.89 you've got kidneys that aren't working right." 00:22:45.93\00:22:48.06 Did you know that? It was a shock. 00:22:50.70\00:22:52.03 You didn't know that. Oh, no, no idea. 00:22:52.07\00:22:53.40 No clue. 00:22:53.44\00:22:54.77 So you put down weight loss originally. 00:22:54.80\00:22:56.50 Right. 00:22:56.54\00:22:57.87 And now you got diabetes. 00:22:57.91\00:23:00.14 Kidney problems, heart issues, and then there's... 00:23:00.18\00:23:03.45 And Dr. Sandoval can explain as better than I can, 00:23:03.48\00:23:06.18 but all that is terrible, 00:23:06.21\00:23:09.08 but the one that really rocked me 00:23:09.12\00:23:11.95 was a susceptibility towards Alzheimer's 00:23:11.99\00:23:15.82 and my grandmother had it and it just rubbed, 00:23:15.86\00:23:19.03 you know, didn't know any of us, 00:23:19.06\00:23:20.40 didn't know my mom or anything at the end. 00:23:20.43\00:23:22.93 And that's always been in the back of my mind, 00:23:22.96\00:23:24.90 you know, and I had read 00:23:24.93\00:23:26.30 that Alzheimer's can skip a generation 00:23:26.33\00:23:30.17 and then come back. 00:23:30.21\00:23:31.54 So we've talked this, three boys, 00:23:31.57\00:23:33.27 we've talked that, you know, mom didn't get it, you know, 00:23:33.31\00:23:36.28 so when he showed me that, 00:23:36.31\00:23:39.88 I'll tell you, it just took my breath away. 00:23:39.91\00:23:42.68 Oh yeah. Of course. 00:23:42.72\00:23:44.05 Because I've spent, you know, my life trying to learn, 00:23:44.09\00:23:45.89 you know, I don't want to lose what I've learned, 00:23:45.92\00:23:48.99 so I had to leave after five days. 00:23:49.02\00:23:53.29 Dr. Sandoval tried to talk me in this thing longer. 00:23:53.33\00:23:56.33 I wished I could have, I just couldn't, 00:23:56.36\00:23:59.50 so I called my wife on the way home 00:23:59.53\00:24:01.54 and I just said, 00:24:01.57\00:24:03.00 "I've got lots to talk to you about, 00:24:03.04\00:24:04.77 but let's wait and talk face to face." 00:24:04.81\00:24:07.78 So 90 miles I drove, didn't get on the phone, 00:24:07.81\00:24:11.88 I just really prayed 00:24:11.91\00:24:13.35 and thought about what am I gonna do. 00:24:13.38\00:24:16.18 Yeah, that's heavy news. Yes, it is. 00:24:16.22\00:24:17.99 Very heavy, 00:24:18.02\00:24:19.35 but the one thing there was hope in it 00:24:19.39\00:24:21.19 because everything I had could be reversed. 00:24:21.22\00:24:23.93 What? Everything. 00:24:23.96\00:24:25.36 Someone at home is saying, "There is no way." Amen. 00:26:50.14\00:26:51.47 So have you had some blood work follow up, 00:26:51.51\00:26:53.34 have you checked on that diabetes 00:26:53.38\00:26:55.04 and the kidney issue and the heart and all of that? 00:26:55.08\00:26:57.18 Great question, I have a doctor in Montgomery, 00:26:57.21\00:27:00.42 that is my regular doctor that I go, 00:27:00.45\00:27:02.18 I get a couple prescriptions from him a year and stuff. 00:27:02.22\00:27:05.45 And I just saw him, 00:27:05.49\00:27:07.52 and I sent Dr. Sandoval 00:27:07.56\00:27:09.62 the blood work that he did for me. 00:27:09.66\00:27:13.16 Here's what that doctor said to me in Montgomery. 00:27:13.19\00:27:16.03 He said, "Mr. Livermore, I want to congratulate you." 00:27:16.06\00:27:22.00 And I kind of looked at him like, you know what I mean. 00:27:22.04\00:27:23.77 and he goes, 00:27:23.81\00:27:25.14 I don't have many people walk in here 00:27:25.17\00:27:26.51 and have lost 50 pounds since I seen him last. 00:27:26.54\00:27:29.74 And he says, "You're doing terrific." 00:27:29.78\00:27:31.15 Praise God. 00:27:31.18\00:27:32.51 Yeah, very, very good 00:27:32.55\00:27:33.92 and I sent the blood work to Dr. Sandoval 00:27:33.95\00:27:37.62 and he said, 00:27:37.65\00:27:38.99 "Boy, everything looks good," you know. 00:27:39.02\00:27:40.42 Really? 00:27:40.46\00:27:41.79 Yeah, on the blood work there's no evidence of diabetes 00:27:41.82\00:27:44.99 and some of the heart, 00:27:45.03\00:27:48.10 you know, markers with cholesterol levels 00:27:48.13\00:27:50.23 and that kind of stuff are looking very good. 00:27:50.27\00:27:51.87 And so it's, yeah, that's definitely a blessing 00:27:51.90\00:27:55.60 and your fasting blood sugars, 00:27:55.64\00:27:56.97 you had several that were in the 80s, 00:27:57.01\00:28:00.01 last time we had talked 00:28:00.04\00:28:01.44 and so it's looking really good. 00:28:01.48\00:28:03.08 Amen. Amen. 00:28:03.11\00:28:04.45 It's neat, isn't it 00:28:04.48\00:28:05.81 how the body actually, 00:28:05.85\00:28:07.18 you know, because sometimes I think 00:28:07.22\00:28:08.55 in the society we tend to think, 00:28:08.58\00:28:09.92 "Oh, boy here we go," 00:28:09.95\00:28:11.29 so then you start taking a lot of different medicines 00:28:11.32\00:28:12.65 which I know medicine has its place 00:28:12.69\00:28:14.02 for certain things. 00:28:14.06\00:28:15.39 But still, you know, we just start 00:28:15.42\00:28:16.76 and then we need to take medicines 00:28:16.79\00:28:18.13 to counteract the effects of that medicine 00:28:18.16\00:28:19.49 and then it becomes, 00:28:19.53\00:28:20.86 let's see all the different types of pill bottles. 00:28:20.90\00:28:22.23 And there are some people that I know that, 00:28:22.26\00:28:23.60 I think they take maybe like 00:28:23.63\00:28:24.97 15 to 18 different pills every morning 00:28:25.00\00:28:27.64 that are counteracting different things. 00:28:27.67\00:28:29.24 So it's encouraging to know 00:28:29.27\00:28:31.17 that a lot of this stuff can be reversed, 00:28:31.21\00:28:33.01 and it's interesting 00:28:33.04\00:28:34.38 because Duthier, right? Got that, pronounced right. 00:28:34.41\00:28:36.78 You know, we're talking, 00:28:36.81\00:28:38.15 you're part of the educational part 00:28:38.18\00:28:39.51 of Uchee Pines, 00:28:39.55\00:28:40.88 but what I'm noticing here 00:28:40.92\00:28:42.25 is that it's just not something that's just like, 00:28:42.28\00:28:43.69 okay, a crash thing for five days and phew! 00:28:43.72\00:28:46.25 I can go back to eating candy bars 00:28:46.29\00:28:47.72 and it's a lifestyle. 00:28:47.76\00:28:49.92 Yes, the goal is 00:28:49.96\00:28:51.59 we are seeking to educate people 00:28:51.63\00:28:53.36 on how they can live a healthier lifestyle, 00:28:53.40\00:28:55.56 so that when you leave, 00:28:55.60\00:28:56.93 you have the tools that you can use, 00:28:56.97\00:28:58.53 that you can live that lifestyle continuously. 00:28:58.57\00:29:00.74 See, and that's the key, it's a lifestyle, 00:29:00.77\00:29:02.10 because sometimes it's like, 00:29:02.14\00:29:03.47 I'm just on this one month diet or I'm on a three month diet 00:29:03.51\00:29:06.47 and then phew, you know, I do whatever 00:29:06.51\00:29:08.24 and then I'm back to my old ways, 00:29:08.28\00:29:10.75 it's the key is the lifestyle. 00:29:10.78\00:29:12.98 We have some pictures, don't we? 00:29:13.01\00:29:14.58 Oh, yeah we do. So, okay. 00:29:14.62\00:29:16.12 So let's take a look, 00:29:16.15\00:29:17.49 I think we have some before and after pictures. 00:29:17.52\00:29:19.25 I think so. Okay. 00:29:19.29\00:29:20.66 So this is you six months ago? Wow! 00:29:20.69\00:29:23.63 Yeah, this would have been... Let's see probably in December. 00:29:23.66\00:29:30.07 Just before you went to Uchee Pines. 00:29:30.10\00:29:31.47 Yes. 00:29:31.50\00:29:32.83 Okay, all right. 00:29:32.87\00:29:34.74 And this is you. 00:29:34.77\00:29:36.37 Yeah, that's actually in December, I'm going... 00:29:36.40\00:29:38.61 I'm in the airport, 00:29:38.64\00:29:39.97 I'm going to Cuba on a mission trip. 00:29:40.01\00:29:41.98 I can see you've lost a lot of weight. 00:29:42.01\00:29:43.35 Yeah. Absolutely. 00:29:43.38\00:29:44.71 There till now. 00:29:44.75\00:29:46.08 And this is still before you met Dr. Sandoval. 00:29:46.11\00:29:47.45 That's my favorite position at home. 00:29:47.48\00:29:49.78 It looks like an easy chair. 00:29:49.82\00:29:51.15 Yeah. It is. 00:29:51.19\00:29:52.75 Here I'm with one of my evangelism friends 00:29:52.79\00:29:54.56 and you can see I was getting pretty big. 00:29:54.59\00:29:56.32 Wow! Yeah. Oh, yeah. 00:29:56.36\00:29:57.69 I can see that. 00:29:57.73\00:29:59.39 There, I'm in Cuba with a couple of speakers. 00:29:59.43\00:30:04.43 Okay. 00:30:04.47\00:30:05.80 Nice. 00:30:05.83\00:30:07.17 Wow! There you're with Dr. Sandoval. 00:30:07.20\00:30:09.74 You know, look at that, you know, you look at that. 00:30:09.77\00:30:11.37 Isn't that amazing? 00:30:11.41\00:30:12.74 When you look at that, it's just like 00:30:12.77\00:30:14.11 it's almost probably hard to believe, isn't it? 00:30:14.14\00:30:15.48 That's me. 00:30:15.51\00:30:16.85 It is and, you know, 00:30:16.88\00:30:18.95 I had no idea of the impact 00:30:18.98\00:30:21.65 that I could have on the conference, 00:30:21.68\00:30:24.19 on the office. 00:30:24.22\00:30:25.55 We've sent several now to Uchee Pines. 00:30:25.59\00:30:27.69 Everybody's been helped tremendously. 00:30:27.72\00:30:30.46 I have a dream of sending every one of our pastors there, 00:30:30.49\00:30:33.19 I like us to go together and have a real retreat. 00:30:33.23\00:30:35.70 Oh! That's great. 00:30:35.73\00:30:37.07 And I think it could benefit us all so much, so. 00:30:37.10\00:30:39.73 Amen. 00:30:39.77\00:30:41.10 So the ripple effect, you know, I just want to commend you 00:30:41.14\00:30:43.37 because it takes a lot of courage as a leader, 00:30:43.41\00:30:46.04 as a conference president to be able to say, 00:30:46.07\00:30:48.51 "Hey, I'm struggling here and I have an issue here. 00:30:48.54\00:30:51.51 And this is where God has helped me 00:30:51.55\00:30:53.75 and what God has done in my life." 00:30:53.78\00:30:55.22 So praise the Lord, 00:30:55.25\00:30:56.58 and thank you for being willing to share. 00:30:56.62\00:30:58.69 You know what God's done in your life 00:30:58.72\00:31:00.42 because there's no powerful, more powerful witness 00:31:00.46\00:31:03.16 than your own personal testimony 00:31:03.19\00:31:04.53 of what God has done. Yeah. 00:31:04.56\00:31:06.16 And I think what your testimony does too is 00:31:06.19\00:31:07.86 it gives a lot of hope. Yes. 00:31:07.90\00:31:09.30 Because you're not the only one, you know, 00:31:09.33\00:31:11.37 there're many that are sitting right now at home, 00:31:11.40\00:31:14.17 you know, thinking, "Man, I've got a terrible report 00:31:14.20\00:31:16.30 from the doctor. 00:31:16.34\00:31:17.67 I can barely make it from my car 00:31:17.71\00:31:19.31 to my living room couch 00:31:19.34\00:31:21.21 without feeling out of breath or so tired." 00:31:21.24\00:31:23.45 And here you were there just a few months ago, 00:31:23.48\00:31:26.61 and now you said how many miles are you walking? 00:31:26.65\00:31:28.08 Three or four? 00:31:28.12\00:31:29.45 Well, I was just in Europe, 00:31:29.48\00:31:30.85 and I walked in nine days, I walked 80.7 miles. 00:31:30.89\00:31:35.06 Say that again, how many? 00:31:35.09\00:31:36.93 It's true. It's true. 00:31:36.96\00:31:38.29 I got that on my phone, I can prove it. 00:31:38.33\00:31:39.66 Okay, okay. How many miles? 00:31:39.69\00:31:41.03 In nine days, I walked 80.7 miles. 00:31:41.06\00:31:43.00 Yeah, it's incredible. 00:31:43.03\00:31:44.63 And really my legs came back so fast. 00:31:44.67\00:31:47.74 This is a good point for us to cover. 00:31:47.77\00:31:49.70 You're never too old to start a plant based diet. 00:31:49.74\00:31:52.97 You know, I eat 70% raw, 00:31:53.01\00:31:54.94 you know, so I'm careful in the morning, 00:31:54.98\00:31:56.71 have good steel cut oat meal in the morning 00:31:56.75\00:31:59.48 along with my Granny Smith apples 00:31:59.51\00:32:01.68 that I was recommended to have, 00:32:01.72\00:32:03.75 a tablespoon of peanut butter with it, 00:32:03.79\00:32:05.62 some raspberries, black berries, blueberries. 00:32:05.65\00:32:07.66 Nice. 00:32:07.69\00:32:09.02 And then in the afternoon, 00:32:09.06\00:32:10.39 I have my vegetables, I always eat them first. 00:32:10.43\00:32:14.06 The raw is so good as, try to get 70%, 30% raw, 00:32:14.10\00:32:19.07 and then have an entrée of some sort, 00:32:19.10\00:32:21.14 but no milk, no cheese, no eggs, 00:32:21.17\00:32:23.00 nothing like that, haven't touched it. 00:32:23.04\00:32:25.61 And my body went on tilt. 00:32:25.64\00:32:27.01 I mean, when I started this, you know. 00:32:27.04\00:32:28.38 I was a big egg eater and cheese 00:32:28.41\00:32:30.91 and kind of replace the meat. 00:32:30.95\00:32:33.31 So, but oh, I feel so much better, 00:32:33.35\00:32:36.79 I can't tell you. 00:32:36.82\00:32:38.19 Wow! You look good. 00:32:38.22\00:32:39.89 You know, you have a sparkle in your eye, good color. 00:32:39.92\00:32:42.82 Thank you. You just got a lot of energy. 00:32:42.86\00:32:44.53 Amen, it's neat to see what God has done. 00:32:44.56\00:32:46.06 I love the Lord and I love this work, 00:32:46.09\00:32:48.96 and I want to be as healthy as I can to do it well. 00:32:49.00\00:32:50.93 Amen. Amen. 00:32:50.97\00:32:52.30 So Dr. Sandoval, I'm thinking here too 00:32:52.33\00:32:53.67 because I know you're gonna have some people 00:32:53.70\00:32:55.20 because you're a doctor and know, 00:32:55.24\00:32:56.57 so you want to be careful 00:32:56.60\00:32:57.94 because you could have someone at home say, 00:32:57.97\00:32:59.31 "Okay, I'm not going to go to any institute. 00:32:59.34\00:33:00.68 I'm just going to get rid of all my medicines. 00:33:00.71\00:33:02.34 I'm going to jump on a contrast shower." 00:33:02.38\00:33:04.41 And then you don't want someone to just have a heart attack, 00:33:04.45\00:33:06.75 you know, because so tell us a little recommendation 00:33:06.78\00:33:09.28 along those lines what someone should do. 00:33:09.32\00:33:10.65 Well, if somebody is taking medication, 00:33:10.69\00:33:13.09 then obviously work with your physician 00:33:13.12\00:33:14.92 or the provider who prescribed the medication 00:33:14.96\00:33:17.96 before you make any drastic changes. 00:33:17.99\00:33:20.00 Amen. 00:33:20.03\00:33:21.53 One of the things that we do 00:33:21.56\00:33:23.20 frequently at the center is fasting. 00:33:23.23\00:33:27.17 So we'll have individuals fast for a day to maybe three days. 00:33:27.20\00:33:30.24 You were only there for five days 00:33:30.27\00:33:31.61 so we didn't have you go through 00:33:31.64\00:33:32.97 the full three days, but... 00:33:33.01\00:33:34.34 The benefit of fasting? The benefit of fasting is vast. 00:33:34.38\00:33:37.25 There's a lot of research coming out with fasting 00:33:37.28\00:33:39.18 and showing that it has effects on the immune system, 00:33:39.21\00:33:41.98 72 hours fast, looking at, helping to reset 00:33:42.02\00:33:44.82 some of the stem cells in the immune system. 00:33:44.85\00:33:47.06 So potential implications with cancer autoimmune diseases 00:33:47.09\00:33:50.63 and so on and so forth. 00:33:50.66\00:33:52.59 Even as little as 12 hours fasting, 00:33:52.63\00:33:55.36 there's benefits that 00:33:55.40\00:33:56.93 the research shows from that standpoint. 00:33:56.97\00:33:58.67 And so there are some good benefits with that, 00:33:58.70\00:34:03.74 but you know, with a fast, it's, 00:34:03.77\00:34:07.28 it can be a little bit trial some, right? 00:34:07.31\00:34:10.95 But there are good benefits, 00:34:10.98\00:34:12.71 you know, benefits associated with it. 00:34:12.75\00:34:15.28 And at the center with the program 00:34:15.32\00:34:22.26 just to change direction just slightly, 00:34:22.29\00:34:25.46 when we have individuals 00:34:25.49\00:34:26.83 coming into the center, there's a lot of... 00:34:26.86\00:34:28.66 The lifestyle center? 00:34:28.70\00:34:30.03 Yeah, the lifestyle center, 00:34:30.07\00:34:31.40 there's a lot of things to be overcome. 00:34:31.43\00:34:33.34 You know, there's a lot of patterns 00:34:33.37\00:34:35.30 that individuals have been having 00:34:35.34\00:34:37.31 as far as their lack of exercise, 00:34:37.34\00:34:39.27 and you know, dietary patterns and so on and so forth. 00:34:39.31\00:34:41.61 And so what we seek to do is to educate individuals 00:34:41.64\00:34:45.15 how to live 00:34:45.18\00:34:46.51 and how to live the healthiest way possible 00:34:46.55\00:34:47.88 within the context of the disease that they have. 00:34:47.92\00:34:50.42 And in doing that then it devolves 00:34:50.45\00:34:54.69 upon the individuals when they go home to... 00:34:54.72\00:34:57.33 Yes, to follow through. Yeah, to follow through... 00:34:57.36\00:34:59.39 And to continue what they've learned. 00:34:59.43\00:35:01.23 And the individuals that do that 00:35:01.26\00:35:03.30 most consistently are the ones that we see 00:35:03.33\00:35:05.43 such miraculous changes in their life 00:35:05.47\00:35:07.94 and, you know, and the healing processes 00:35:07.97\00:35:10.07 that come about from that standpoint, 00:35:10.11\00:35:12.34 whether it's heart disease, whether it's diabetes, cancer, 00:35:12.37\00:35:17.21 autoimmune conditions, pain syndromes, obesity, 00:35:17.25\00:35:22.02 you know, overweight and that kind of stuff. 00:35:22.05\00:35:24.39 And it's truly a blessing to be there, 00:35:24.42\00:35:26.05 but the key component 00:35:26.09\00:35:27.62 that everybody must have, Jesus. 00:35:27.66\00:35:30.89 Amen. That's right. 00:35:30.93\00:35:32.26 Amen. 00:35:32.29\00:35:33.63 Just got to hinge upon Jesus because only He can give 00:35:33.66\00:35:35.60 the strength to individuals to have the consistency 00:35:35.63\00:35:39.40 that they need in their life 00:35:39.43\00:35:41.40 in order to maintain that new, not diet, the lifestyle. 00:35:41.44\00:35:45.61 Yes. 00:35:45.64\00:35:46.98 So I know we need to go to Duthier, 00:35:47.01\00:35:48.34 and we need to talk about the educational system, 00:35:48.38\00:35:50.35 but before we do that, 00:35:50.38\00:35:51.71 you were talking about the fast. 00:35:51.75\00:35:53.08 Can you tell our friends at home, 00:35:53.11\00:35:54.45 what a fast would entail? 00:35:54.48\00:35:55.82 Does that mean, absolutely no food? 00:35:55.85\00:35:57.19 No water, no food. What does that mean? 00:35:57.22\00:36:00.02 How much food? How little? 00:36:00.06\00:36:01.69 A fast is... 00:36:01.72\00:36:03.86 It can be done in number of different ways. 00:36:03.89\00:36:06.13 Most of the research is looking at individuals drinking water, 00:36:06.16\00:36:10.33 but they are not eating any calorie containing foods 00:36:10.37\00:36:13.80 at the same time. 00:36:13.84\00:36:15.17 So you might be able to use some, 00:36:15.20\00:36:16.64 you know, herbal teas without sugar 00:36:16.67\00:36:18.54 and other types of things included in it, 00:36:18.57\00:36:20.74 but pretty much water that an individual is drinking 00:36:20.78\00:36:24.01 and the benefits associated with that. 00:36:24.05\00:36:26.05 But if you go on a fast, 00:36:26.08\00:36:27.62 and getting back to the point from earlier, 00:36:27.65\00:36:30.09 if you're on medication 00:36:30.12\00:36:31.65 and you're on diabetes medication 00:36:31.69\00:36:33.42 and you try to fast at home without... 00:36:33.46\00:36:35.26 That's danger. 00:36:35.29\00:36:36.62 Right, you could kill yourself... 00:36:36.66\00:36:37.99 Because the medication could cause your blood sugar levels 00:36:38.03\00:36:39.96 to go too low and you could actually die. 00:36:40.00\00:36:42.00 So you want to work with your physician, 00:36:42.03\00:36:43.57 you got to work with your provider. 00:36:43.60\00:36:45.70 Come to Uchee Pines. Well, yes. 00:36:45.73\00:36:47.44 Go to the lifestyle center. 00:36:47.47\00:36:48.80 We have health care professionals 00:36:48.84\00:36:50.17 who're working with, you know, with individuals. 00:36:50.21\00:36:51.87 And so if we're gonna be taking people off with medication. 00:36:51.91\00:36:55.04 Well, then we know what the medications are, 00:36:55.08\00:36:57.18 how they respond, and so on and so forth. 00:36:57.21\00:36:59.41 And then we have a controlled environment, 00:36:59.45\00:37:01.15 and we're monitoring their vital signs 00:37:01.18\00:37:02.85 and so on and so forth along the way. 00:37:02.88\00:37:05.05 But if you're doing it at home, again work with your provider, 00:37:05.09\00:37:08.16 and if you make any significant changes, 00:37:08.19\00:37:10.29 let them know what you're doing 00:37:10.33\00:37:11.66 because they might need to modify the medications. 00:37:11.69\00:37:14.10 If you're not on any medications, 00:37:14.13\00:37:15.66 well, you can make some pretty significant changes 00:37:15.70\00:37:18.23 without a lot of worry. 00:37:18.27\00:37:19.60 But if you're on them, work with a provider. 00:37:19.63\00:37:21.97 Amen. 00:37:22.00\00:37:23.34 Well, that's great to get that good balance there, yeah. 00:37:23.37\00:37:25.37 Because again the body goes through 00:37:25.41\00:37:26.74 traumatic changes in that time. 00:37:26.78\00:37:29.04 We need to get to Duthier. 00:37:29.08\00:37:30.68 Yeah, and tell us about the educational part 00:37:30.71\00:37:32.25 because you have the lifestyle center, 00:37:32.28\00:37:34.22 then you have some sessions, 00:37:34.25\00:37:36.08 correct, of actual training people. 00:37:36.12\00:37:38.35 Yes, we do. 00:37:38.39\00:37:39.72 We currently have two courses, our Lifestyle Educator course, 00:37:39.75\00:37:43.09 and our Lifestyle Counselor course. 00:37:43.12\00:37:45.73 What's the difference between them? 00:37:45.76\00:37:47.10 Now a Lifestyle Educator of course, 00:37:47.13\00:37:48.50 what we seek to is teach our trainees 00:37:48.53\00:37:50.30 how they can be educators. 00:37:50.33\00:37:52.47 Throughout their course they're learning 00:37:52.50\00:37:54.14 how to give presentations. 00:37:54.17\00:37:56.10 They're learning the ins and outs 00:37:56.14\00:37:57.51 of anatomy and physiology, 00:37:57.54\00:37:59.11 things that will help them to be efficient 00:37:59.14\00:38:01.54 in giving these presentations. 00:38:01.58\00:38:03.45 So you would, you're talking like 00:38:03.48\00:38:04.81 someone from the church could say, 00:38:04.85\00:38:06.18 "Hey, I want to be an educator in my church." 00:38:06.21\00:38:07.55 True, yes. Okay. 00:38:07.58\00:38:08.92 So they can come and get some training. 00:38:08.95\00:38:10.29 True, and what we're trying to do is, 00:38:10.32\00:38:11.65 as many trainees as we can get trained, 00:38:11.69\00:38:13.22 they can go back to their churches 00:38:13.25\00:38:15.22 and help their churches to be training centers... 00:38:15.26\00:38:17.43 Educating their members, helping them 00:38:17.46\00:38:19.03 to have the same understanding that they do, 00:38:19.06\00:38:21.13 so that we all can get this work done 00:38:21.16\00:38:23.47 because this is only an ends to a means 00:38:23.50\00:38:25.30 is presenting the gospel. 00:38:25.33\00:38:27.24 Yes. 00:38:27.27\00:38:28.60 And then we have our Lifestyle Counselor course 00:38:28.64\00:38:30.94 in which our trainees are working, 00:38:30.97\00:38:33.01 learning to work more one on one with persons, 00:38:33.04\00:38:35.34 for example, like Brother Livermore. 00:38:35.38\00:38:37.35 And they're learning to explain to them their diet plan, 00:38:37.38\00:38:39.91 explaining to them their Ts, explaining to them 00:38:39.95\00:38:42.08 why they're living, 00:38:42.12\00:38:43.82 how, why are they eating the way they're eating, 00:38:43.85\00:38:45.69 and how is it gonna help them with their lifestyle. 00:38:45.72\00:38:48.52 And we are also having stress management classes with them, 00:38:48.56\00:38:51.59 hands on nutrition classes with them. 00:38:51.63\00:38:54.66 As Dr. Mark, we have medical professionals there 00:38:54.70\00:38:56.83 who are giving medical lectures, 00:38:56.87\00:38:58.47 all that's encompassed in the program. 00:38:58.50\00:39:00.34 So like we said, they can have tools that they can use, 00:39:00.37\00:39:03.71 so that they can live a healthier lifestyle 00:39:03.74\00:39:05.44 to God's glory and honor. 00:39:05.47\00:39:06.98 So again, just really briefly that explain you have twos, 00:39:07.01\00:39:09.08 because some have may have just said, 00:39:09.11\00:39:10.45 "Okay, I didn't quite catch what he says." 00:39:10.48\00:39:11.81 So you have two, you have the counselor. 00:39:11.85\00:39:13.18 Yes. Dr. Mark? 00:40:16.91\00:40:18.78 And another key component 00:40:18.81\00:40:20.38 that we're looking at with the new program, 00:40:20.42\00:40:22.72 the master's program that is, "Trades Training". 00:40:22.75\00:40:26.25 So not just training the... 00:40:26.29\00:40:29.56 Having the trainees learning about medical missionary work, 00:40:29.59\00:40:32.13 also we're gonna be doing canvassing 00:40:32.16\00:40:34.50 that'll be a part of the program as well, 00:40:34.53\00:40:36.63 but also giving them a trades experience 00:40:36.67\00:40:40.70 so that they can like Paul, have a tent making. 00:40:40.74\00:40:44.14 That's great. It's important. 00:40:44.17\00:40:45.57 Yeah, capacity to be able to support themselves 00:40:45.61\00:40:48.44 and be self-supporting missionaries 00:40:48.48\00:40:49.81 wherever they go and whether that's from, 00:40:49.84\00:40:52.48 you know, something from a, 00:40:52.51\00:40:54.18 you know, from the print shop and design, 00:40:54.22\00:40:56.65 whether it's from housekeeping as an industry, 00:40:56.69\00:41:00.92 whether it's looking at agriculture 00:41:00.96\00:41:05.73 or whether it's in retail management. 00:41:05.76\00:41:09.56 We have a number of different industries 00:41:09.60\00:41:11.53 that are available for students 00:41:11.57\00:41:14.07 and as we get more industries directors 00:41:14.10\00:41:17.21 for other different industries 00:41:17.24\00:41:18.74 and they can expand from that standpoint. 00:41:18.77\00:41:20.44 So that the students have 00:41:20.48\00:41:22.18 not just the medical missionary training 00:41:22.21\00:41:23.68 and the spiritual training, but they also have a trade 00:41:23.71\00:41:26.21 that they're trained for as well 00:41:26.25\00:41:28.25 to help them with self support. 00:41:28.28\00:41:29.62 Yeah, for as to fund themselves so they can live, yeah, to... 00:41:29.65\00:41:33.36 So I know that you said there's a one year, 00:41:33.39\00:41:36.66 and the two years. 00:41:36.69\00:41:38.03 So you obviously have dormitories there. 00:41:38.06\00:41:39.39 True. Yes. 00:41:39.43\00:41:40.76 And I know that there's somebody at home 00:41:40.80\00:41:42.13 that's saying, "Hey, I think I want to do that." 00:41:42.16\00:41:43.50 So we're gonna go to an address break here in about 00:41:43.53\00:41:45.60 over five to seven minutes. 00:41:45.63\00:41:47.00 You can get their contact information 00:41:47.04\00:41:48.37 because on the website, 00:41:48.40\00:41:49.74 I'm sure is where you would get the most information as cost. 00:41:49.77\00:41:52.94 Yes. Right, and all the details. 00:41:52.97\00:41:54.84 Yes, also and they can find their cost, 00:41:54.88\00:41:58.11 they can find the information 00:41:58.15\00:41:59.98 if they're struggling to pay the... 00:42:00.02\00:42:02.02 We also have a work study program 00:42:02.05\00:42:03.65 which enables our students to go 00:42:03.69\00:42:05.62 and work for a portion of their tuition 00:42:05.65\00:42:08.42 and at the same time 00:42:08.46\00:42:09.79 they can receive a skill that they can use. 00:42:09.82\00:42:11.43 For me personally, I was able to, 00:42:11.46\00:42:13.29 you know, being a young bachelor, 00:42:13.33\00:42:14.66 I didn't really know how to cook. 00:42:14.70\00:42:16.06 So when I came to Uchee Pines, I had the blessing opportunity 00:42:16.10\00:42:19.90 to work in our country life restaurant. 00:42:19.93\00:42:22.34 Then which I learned how to cook, 00:42:22.37\00:42:23.71 it's kind of like, you know... 00:42:23.74\00:42:25.17 So you get the opportunity to work 00:42:25.21\00:42:26.54 in the one in Columbus? 00:42:26.57\00:42:27.91 Yeah. That's great. 00:42:27.94\00:42:29.28 So I started with soups. Sure. 00:42:29.31\00:42:30.98 It's pretty easy, right? 00:42:31.01\00:42:32.88 And then from soups, you know, 00:42:32.91\00:42:34.25 we've worked our way up to entrees 00:42:34.28\00:42:35.62 and from there onward it kind of helped 00:42:35.65\00:42:37.35 in making more comfortable in cooking. 00:42:37.39\00:42:39.72 So that was added blessing 00:42:39.75\00:42:41.56 and it could be an added blessing 00:42:41.59\00:42:42.92 to whoever it may be, whether they're one, 00:42:42.96\00:42:44.59 it's two in one, two for one, we could say. 00:42:44.63\00:42:47.06 They learn, they got to pay for a portion of their tuition 00:42:47.10\00:42:49.96 and at the same time get a skill 00:42:50.00\00:42:51.53 that they can use it also. 00:42:51.57\00:42:52.93 Yeah, you have to ask Duthier about his bread. 00:42:52.97\00:42:55.94 So you're a baker now. 00:42:55.97\00:42:57.71 Well, being at Uchee Pines, 00:42:57.74\00:42:59.47 God has given me the desire to make bread 00:42:59.51\00:43:04.31 and, you know, through trial and error 00:43:04.35\00:43:07.68 as I always tell people, me and my fellow housemate, 00:43:07.72\00:43:10.75 we went through a lot of bad loafs of bread 00:43:10.79\00:43:13.09 before we got the good one. 00:43:13.12\00:43:16.12 Some of them didn't taste so good. 00:43:16.16\00:43:17.99 Oh, were they hard, did they fall? 00:43:18.03\00:43:19.69 You know, you have varying issues, you know. 00:43:19.73\00:43:22.43 Some are missing some spaces, 00:43:22.46\00:43:24.63 some are little moisture than others, 00:43:24.67\00:43:26.80 but you finally get that loaf that's just right, 00:43:26.84\00:43:29.80 has the proper flavor and texture 00:43:29.84\00:43:31.54 just massages the palate, yeah. 00:43:31.57\00:43:33.17 Amen.
