I want to spend my life
00:00:01.96\00:00:07.84
Mending broken people
00:00:07.87\00:00:12.87
I want to spend my life
00:00:12.91\00:00:19.08
Removing pain
00:00:19.11\00:00:24.05
Lord, let my words
00:00:24.09\00:00:30.29
Heal a heart that hurts
00:00:30.33\00:00:35.00
I want to spend my life
00:00:35.03\00:00:40.64
Mending broken people
00:00:40.67\00:00:45.91
I want to spend my life
00:00:45.94\00:00:51.61
Mending broken people
00:00:51.65\00:00:55.65
Hello, and
welcome to 3ABN Today.
00:01:08.06\00:01:10.93
My name is CA Murray.
00:01:10.97\00:01:12.30
And allow me once
again to thank you
00:01:12.33\00:01:14.14
for sharing just a
little of your busy day with us,
00:01:14.17\00:01:17.97
to thank you for your
love, your prayers, your support
00:01:18.01\00:01:20.38
of Three Angels
Broadcasting Network
00:01:20.41\00:01:22.58
as we head into year number 33
00:01:22.61\00:01:26.35
of broadcasting the good news
that Christ is coming again,
00:01:26.38\00:01:29.55
counteracting the counterfeit,
00:01:29.58\00:01:31.02
lifting up the mighty
and matchless name of Jesus.
00:01:31.05\00:01:33.36
And I'm excited
today for our program
00:01:33.39\00:01:35.86
for a number of reasons.
00:01:35.89\00:01:37.23
First, I was going to
say, talk with an old friend
00:01:37.26\00:01:40.36
but when you get to my age,
00:01:40.40\00:01:41.73
you don't want
to use the word old.
00:01:41.76\00:01:43.10
So we'll say
longtime friend, dear friend
00:01:43.13\00:01:46.37
but we won't say old friend.
00:01:46.40\00:01:47.97
Because he has some gray
hair and I don't have any,
00:01:48.00\00:01:50.41
so we'll just
say long time friend.
00:01:50.44\00:01:51.84
This is Larren Cole.
00:01:51.87\00:01:53.21
Man, good to have you
here. Oh, good to be here, CA.
00:01:53.24\00:01:54.64
Thanks for having me.
00:01:54.68\00:01:56.01
And from the
Northwest child of the kingdom,
00:01:56.04\00:02:00.75
child of America
00:02:00.78\00:02:02.12
because he's lived
all over the place,
00:02:02.15\00:02:03.49
and we're going to get
a little history on him
00:02:03.52\00:02:06.69
after we go to our music.
00:02:06.72\00:02:08.06
But just a really neat
guy who has worked with...
00:02:08.09\00:02:11.03
you worked with
Steve Wohlberg for a while.
00:02:11.06\00:02:13.83
Co-director there, yeah.
00:02:13.86\00:02:15.20
And just done a lot of stuff.
00:02:15.23\00:02:17.33
Background in medicine,
graduate of Loma Linda,
00:02:17.37\00:02:19.70
you and your wife Mickey.
00:02:19.73\00:02:21.17
Yeah.
00:02:21.20\00:02:22.54
But you sort of
moved out of that
00:02:22.57\00:02:23.94
and kind of
gone into evangelism,
00:02:23.97\00:02:25.41
preaching, teaching,
00:02:25.44\00:02:26.78
lifting up the name of the Lord.
00:02:26.81\00:02:28.14
Yeah, physical
therapy, graduated as...
00:02:28.18\00:02:29.51
And I worked in physical therapy
00:02:29.54\00:02:31.18
for a number of years,
00:02:31.21\00:02:32.55
and then we got into a little
medical business for a while,
00:02:32.58\00:02:35.22
and then it just sort of
everything just faded away,
00:02:35.25\00:02:37.79
and the ministry came up,
00:02:37.82\00:02:39.42
and now we've been in full
time ministry for, since 2005.
00:02:39.45\00:02:44.16
Well, praise the Lord.
00:02:44.19\00:02:45.53
So few years under your belt.
00:02:45.56\00:02:46.90
Yeah, 12 years. Yeah, yeah.
00:02:46.93\00:02:48.26
And you've got
some prod with you,
00:02:48.30\00:02:49.90
you've done some things,
family of two boys and one...
00:02:49.93\00:02:54.87
Three boys.
00:02:54.90\00:02:56.30
Three boys and two girls.
00:02:56.34\00:02:57.71
Two girls, right.
00:02:57.74\00:02:59.07
And two girls,
good looking family.
00:02:59.11\00:03:00.44
Oh, praise the Lord.
00:03:00.48\00:03:01.81
It would be better
looking if it wasn't for me.
00:03:01.84\00:03:03.18
It's Mickey's fault.
00:03:03.21\00:03:06.08
Well, Mickey picked you,
00:03:06.11\00:03:07.45
and I think she's
going to keep you, man.
00:03:07.48\00:03:08.82
Oh, boy.
00:03:08.85\00:03:10.19
You don't have any
choice. Praise the Lord.
00:03:10.22\00:03:12.25
We're going to talk a
little bit about that.
00:03:12.29\00:03:13.62
In fact, let's do that.
00:03:13.66\00:03:14.99
Where were you born?
00:03:15.02\00:03:16.36
I was born in
Riverside, California.
00:03:16.39\00:03:17.73
So you're west coast guy?
00:03:17.76\00:03:19.09
Yes, west coast guy,
00:03:19.13\00:03:20.46
pretty much
California all the way.
00:03:20.50\00:03:21.83
Yeah, born in Riverside.
00:03:21.86\00:03:23.37
Adventist home?
00:03:23.40\00:03:25.00
Adventist home,
yeah. Nominal Adventist...
00:03:25.03\00:03:27.14
Yeah, they were, my
parents were really good folks
00:03:27.17\00:03:28.97
but you know the only thing
00:03:29.00\00:03:30.34
we really knew
about our religion...
00:03:30.37\00:03:31.94
Only I really
knew about my religion
00:03:31.97\00:03:33.41
was that we went to
church on a funny day
00:03:33.44\00:03:35.11
and we didn't eat pork,
00:03:35.14\00:03:36.48
that was the two
things that distinguished me.
00:03:36.51\00:03:38.78
And then, so I sort
of drifted away from God,
00:03:38.81\00:03:41.58
and in the
teens, early twenties...
00:03:41.62\00:03:43.28
So you had some
wilderness kind of years.
00:03:43.32\00:03:44.89
Bad wilderness years, yes.
00:03:44.92\00:03:46.76
Yeah, and then
drifted back into Lord God,
00:03:46.79\00:03:49.12
you know, through a number
of circumstances I came back.
00:03:49.16\00:03:51.99
And, man, it's been...
00:03:52.03\00:03:53.36
By the time you
got to Loma Linda,
00:03:53.40\00:03:54.73
were you sort of
back on track or...?
00:03:54.76\00:03:56.43
Yes, that was my sort
of the conversion years.
00:03:56.46\00:04:01.17
And I met Mickey, my wife there
00:04:01.20\00:04:02.64
and she and
another cousin of mine
00:04:02.67\00:04:05.07
talked me into
going back to school.
00:04:05.11\00:04:07.08
And so I went to school there.
00:04:07.11\00:04:09.34
And you know got a real job.
00:04:09.38\00:04:10.75
At the time, I was
in business for myself,
00:04:10.78\00:04:12.88
and it was just up and down.
00:04:12.91\00:04:14.32
And, boy, you know I
wanted some stability,
00:04:14.35\00:04:17.45
and that was it.
00:04:17.49\00:04:19.42
Medical degree is
stability. It is stability.
00:04:19.45\00:04:21.66
Especially in America.
00:04:21.69\00:04:23.19
That's true, that's true.
00:04:23.22\00:04:24.56
And Mickey's degree is in?
00:04:24.59\00:04:26.49
Dental hygiene. Right.
00:04:26.53\00:04:27.86
However, she's
studying right now
00:04:27.90\00:04:29.26
to be a physician's assistant.
00:04:29.30\00:04:31.80
And so all five of my children
00:04:31.83\00:04:34.54
and my wife are all in colleges.
00:04:34.57\00:04:36.30
I'm the only one out, you know,
not in college so it's just...
00:04:36.34\00:04:40.18
Well,
somebody's got to stay home
00:04:40.21\00:04:41.71
and pay the bills, man.
00:04:41.74\00:04:43.21
Because, yeah, your
kids are fairly close in age.
00:04:43.24\00:04:46.51
Yeah, well, 21 is the oldest,
00:04:46.55\00:04:48.45
20s in ecstasy, 17, 15, and 14.
00:04:48.48\00:04:52.39
Okay, okay. Yeah.
00:04:52.42\00:04:54.22
Yeah, we're close in age.
00:04:54.26\00:04:55.59
Good looking family,
all tall gorgeous children.
00:04:55.62\00:04:58.49
Praise the Lord.
And all in church.
00:04:58.53\00:05:00.66
All in the church, yeah.
00:05:00.70\00:05:02.03
Serving the Lord,
00:05:02.06\00:05:03.40
and we praise the Lord for that.
00:05:03.43\00:05:04.77
And your wife is back in school.
00:05:04.80\00:05:06.13
Amen, and amen.
00:05:06.17\00:05:07.50
Well, I don't know about,
00:05:07.54\00:05:08.87
yeah, that's
what she wants to do
00:05:08.90\00:05:10.24
and I support her on that.
00:05:10.27\00:05:11.61
But, oh, boy!
00:05:11.64\00:05:12.97
It's tough, you know but I
think the Lord is behind us...
00:05:13.01\00:05:15.44
Praise the Lord.
00:05:15.48\00:05:16.81
And you keep up a pretty heavy
00:05:16.85\00:05:18.21
travel schedule
yourself, do you not?
00:05:18.25\00:05:19.68
We are pretty much...
00:05:19.71\00:05:21.05
this year is just
booked, sold, 90% booked.
00:05:21.08\00:05:23.55
And we're summer
in a different church,
00:05:23.59\00:05:25.69
every weekend
00:05:25.72\00:05:27.06
if we're not doing a full
Revelation series for church
00:05:27.09\00:05:30.56
where it's
usually a weekend seminar.
00:05:30.59\00:05:32.33
We got a number
of weekend seminars.
00:05:32.36\00:05:34.00
How did the call come to you
00:05:34.03\00:05:35.43
because you had a good
job, you had a good career,
00:05:35.46\00:05:37.70
and I remember you
had that medical business,
00:05:37.73\00:05:39.13
you're making pretty good money.
00:05:39.17\00:05:40.50
How did the call come to sort of
00:05:40.54\00:05:42.24
release you from that
and move into ministry,
00:05:42.27\00:05:44.37
and what is now
full time ministry?
00:05:44.41\00:05:46.04
Yeah, well, you know
that's a good question.
00:05:46.07\00:05:49.61
You know, just a
number of circumstances
00:05:49.64\00:05:52.01
I can remember.
00:05:52.05\00:05:53.98
I remember one
day in particular,
00:05:54.02\00:05:55.48
you know, I'm a
really shy person,
00:05:55.52\00:05:57.62
I don't like publicly speaking.
00:05:57.65\00:05:58.99
I was having my
evening devotion one day,
00:05:59.02\00:06:01.82
and I was reading a
book called "Maranatha".
00:06:01.86\00:06:03.56
And I was reading a
text that was talking about
00:06:03.59\00:06:06.63
how in the last days, young man
would be called from the pile,
00:06:06.66\00:06:09.90
just ordinary, common
vocation people like myself,
00:06:09.93\00:06:13.03
and they'd be
sort of yoked together
00:06:13.07\00:06:14.77
with men of experience.
00:06:14.80\00:06:16.71
And I read that and
I thought to myself,
00:06:16.74\00:06:18.07
"You know, Lord, I think I
could see myself being a man
00:06:18.11\00:06:21.64
that would be you
know call from the plough."
00:06:21.68\00:06:24.18
That night, I had a
really strange dream.
00:06:24.21\00:06:26.31
I prayed about
it, and I had a dream.
00:06:26.35\00:06:28.22
In my dream, I was in
this great big church,
00:06:28.25\00:06:32.05
Bakersfield, California.
00:06:32.09\00:06:33.42
I went in there and I
was talking to these people
00:06:33.46\00:06:34.96
in this foyer,
00:06:34.99\00:06:36.32
and in walked Doug Batchelor.
00:06:36.36\00:06:38.03
And I have been
watching Doug Batchelor on 3ABN.
00:06:38.06\00:06:40.53
In fact, 3ABN had a major part
00:06:40.56\00:06:42.30
in my sort of
coming back to the Lord.
00:06:42.33\00:06:45.33
So here comes Doug Batchelor,
he walks right over to me,
00:06:45.37\00:06:47.40
he puts his arm around
me, doesn't say a thing to me,
00:06:47.44\00:06:49.40
and he starts talking
to the group that I'm with.
00:06:49.44\00:06:51.57
Then he takes
me to another group
00:06:51.61\00:06:52.94
and talk to that group.
00:06:52.97\00:06:54.31
You talk to every
group in the foyer,
00:06:54.34\00:06:55.68
then he went into the sanctuary.
00:06:55.71\00:06:57.21
And then when the
elder at the podium
00:06:57.25\00:06:59.65
announced the
speaker for the day,
00:06:59.68\00:07:01.32
he said, "Now our
speaker is Doug Batchelor."
00:07:01.35\00:07:03.45
And at that
moment, he let go of me.
00:07:03.49\00:07:05.29
And he'd never even
said anything to me,
00:07:05.32\00:07:06.89
he never looked at me,
00:07:06.92\00:07:08.26
let go me and
went up and preached.
00:07:08.29\00:07:09.62
I woke up.
00:07:09.66\00:07:11.13
And so I thought,
"Well, that's a strange dream."
00:07:11.16\00:07:13.50
And then I went
to work the next day,
00:07:13.53\00:07:15.16
and I was in physical
therapy in a nursing home there,
00:07:15.20\00:07:16.93
I was working in that.
00:07:16.97\00:07:18.70
A lady, out of the blue,
a Catholic friend of mine,
00:07:18.73\00:07:20.97
she said to me, "I had
just been praying with somebody
00:07:21.00\00:07:23.67
or witnessing to
somebody at work,
00:07:23.71\00:07:25.04
and she said, "You
got to be in the clergy,
00:07:25.07\00:07:27.08
I think you
missed your calling."
00:07:27.11\00:07:29.41
I thought, you know,
come on, that's kind of weird.
00:07:29.44\00:07:32.61
A clergy? You mean,
like a pastor or something?
00:07:32.65\00:07:34.65
She said, "Yeah, you
missed your calling."
00:07:34.68\00:07:37.02
So I went home that day
00:07:37.05\00:07:38.39
with all these things happening,
00:07:38.42\00:07:39.75
this is all
happening in one day,
00:07:39.79\00:07:41.12
in the space of 24 hours.
00:07:41.16\00:07:42.49
And when I get home,
00:07:42.52\00:07:43.86
the local pastor
of my church calls me
00:07:43.89\00:07:45.23
and says, "Larren, I
want to come visit you."
00:07:45.26\00:07:46.93
He came out to visit,
00:07:46.96\00:07:48.36
and he said,
"Larren, I want to teach you
00:07:48.40\00:07:50.57
how to preach a sermon."
00:07:50.60\00:07:52.27
His name was, this
was Pastor Del Gribble.
00:07:52.30\00:07:54.34
Right now, he's in Lone Pine.
00:07:54.37\00:07:55.90
In fact, we're going to
be doing a Revelation seminar
00:07:55.94\00:07:57.97
for one of his
other churches this year,
00:07:58.01\00:08:00.11
maybe for Lone Pine too.
00:08:00.14\00:08:01.48
I think we may be doing too.
00:08:01.51\00:08:03.68
He said, "I want to
teach you how to do a sermon."
00:08:03.71\00:08:05.18
And so he came with that
00:08:05.21\00:08:06.55
and he gets me
this little formula,
00:08:06.58\00:08:08.88
an outline on
how to make a sermon.
00:08:08.92\00:08:10.89
He called them BIPs.
00:08:10.92\00:08:12.52
BIPs, Bible Illustration Point.
00:08:12.55\00:08:17.76
Now the P was for point.
00:08:17.79\00:08:19.13
He says, "Just
do that three times,
00:08:19.16\00:08:20.50
you get a Bible text,
00:08:20.53\00:08:21.86
and illustration for
that text, and a point.
00:08:21.90\00:08:23.57
Do that three times,
and that's a sermon."
00:08:23.60\00:08:26.60
And then he says,
"Now, I'm scheduling you
00:08:26.63\00:08:28.34
for next Sabbath,
you're going to preach."
00:08:28.37\00:08:30.51
And that just
scared me to death.
00:08:30.54\00:08:32.41
And so I sat there, and
I tried to write the BIPs
00:08:32.44\00:08:34.68
and it was just
terrifying experience
00:08:34.71\00:08:36.54
but it went well, you know.
00:08:36.58\00:08:39.41
I think it was the
title of the sermon,
00:08:39.45\00:08:41.08
it was something
about the time of trouble,
00:08:41.12\00:08:42.58
and I think it cause the
time of trouble for the audience
00:08:42.62\00:08:44.65
the way out it was going,
00:08:44.69\00:08:46.02
it just seem like, you
know, they were just...
00:08:46.05\00:08:48.62
No amen, until
afterwards, afterwards,
00:08:48.66\00:08:51.66
greeting the saints
and they were saying,
00:08:51.69\00:08:53.03
"Well, what a
blessing that was."
00:08:53.06\00:08:55.03
But that was my
first sermon ever.
00:08:55.06\00:08:57.50
And, boy!
00:08:57.53\00:08:58.87
You know, it's just a
number of things happening,
00:08:58.90\00:09:01.20
we got called into
evangelism in the Gulf States.
00:09:01.24\00:09:03.81
I wrote a series
of Revelation seminar,
00:09:03.84\00:09:06.81
Bible study guides.
00:09:06.84\00:09:08.31
And then the
Gulf States called us,
00:09:08.34\00:09:09.68
we did a few simmers here,
00:09:09.71\00:09:11.31
two or three or four,
I'm not sure how many,
00:09:11.35\00:09:13.42
moved out to the West Coast,
00:09:13.45\00:09:14.78
got a call from
the Oregon Conference.
00:09:14.82\00:09:16.92
They said, "Hey,
we've got a church.
00:09:16.95\00:09:18.29
We want to know how much
you charge for a seminar."
00:09:18.32\00:09:20.76
And I was like,
"Charge?" You know.
00:09:20.79\00:09:23.02
I don't charge anything
00:09:23.06\00:09:24.39
but then I was
about to say that.
00:09:24.43\00:09:26.23
Then the Holy Spirit
says, "You need to charge."
00:09:26.26\00:09:28.36
Yeah.
00:09:28.40\00:09:29.83
So we set up a...
00:09:29.86\00:09:32.13
That was in 2012, I think, 2012.
00:09:32.17\00:09:35.30
And that was in
the Oregon Conference.
00:09:35.34\00:09:39.21
Same day, another church called.
00:09:39.24\00:09:41.58
And they said,
"How much do you charge
00:09:41.61\00:09:42.94
for your Revelation seminar?"
00:09:42.98\00:09:44.31
I don't know where
these people were coming from
00:09:44.35\00:09:45.68
but I imagine the Holy Spirit
was just calling me into this
00:09:45.71\00:09:49.02
because it was the same
day, another church called.
00:09:49.05\00:09:51.32
We finished those two seminars
and as we were going home,
00:09:51.35\00:09:54.12
we got a call
from somebody else.
00:09:54.16\00:09:55.89
And so we turned
the motor home around,
00:09:55.92\00:09:57.39
went back to that church
00:09:57.43\00:09:58.76
because it was
an immediate call.
00:09:58.79\00:10:00.46
And we did another seminar.
00:10:00.50\00:10:02.10
And then as we were
driving home from that,
00:10:02.13\00:10:04.00
praying about where to go next,
00:10:04.03\00:10:05.63
a pastor calls, signs us
up for some more seminars.
00:10:05.67\00:10:08.80
And it's just been
going on like that.
00:10:08.84\00:10:10.91
So the Lord is
kind of showed you
00:10:10.94\00:10:12.27
this is what He wants you to do.
00:10:12.31\00:10:13.64
Yeah.
00:10:13.68\00:10:15.01
Our Revelation seminar series
00:10:15.04\00:10:16.38
now is called Revelation
101, a survival training course.
00:10:16.41\00:10:19.01
We've got a one
month program this year,
00:10:19.05\00:10:21.98
your typical
three angels' message,
00:10:22.02\00:10:25.05
you know, the Adventist thing.
00:10:25.09\00:10:26.49
And then we have
what is more popular,
00:10:26.52\00:10:28.66
it's a ten day seminar.
00:10:28.69\00:10:30.03
It's a survival training course
but it's a ten day seminar,
00:10:30.06\00:10:34.66
and that's more popular,
00:10:34.70\00:10:36.03
it seems like people
are wanting to get this in,
00:10:36.06\00:10:37.97
get on the
move, get to the point
00:10:38.00\00:10:40.04
and sort of back out.
00:10:40.07\00:10:41.40
We end that series
00:10:41.44\00:10:42.77
with a forming
of baptismal class.
00:10:42.80\00:10:45.51
And that one's a blessing.
00:10:45.54\00:10:46.94
I like that one
00:10:46.98\00:10:48.31
because we're on the
road a little shorter time.
00:10:48.34\00:10:49.81
Excellent, excellent.
00:10:49.84\00:10:51.28
All right. We want
to go to our music.
00:10:51.31\00:10:52.71
And then we want to wade
into what you're here for today.
00:10:52.75\00:10:55.65
But let's go through
the names of the kids.
00:10:55.68\00:10:57.02
I know we've got
Madison, Kennedy...
00:10:57.05\00:10:59.89
Alex. Alex.
00:10:59.92\00:11:01.66
And Kart is the
baby. Kart is the baby.
00:11:01.69\00:11:03.02
That's a baby one...
00:11:03.06\00:11:04.39
The 14-year old baby and
Jackson, missing Jackson.
00:11:04.43\00:11:05.79
Jackson. There you go.
00:11:05.83\00:11:07.16
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, the man, Jackson.
00:11:07.20\00:11:09.26
And that's how we
really were introduced to 3ABN,
00:11:09.30\00:11:11.73
it's through
the story of Jackson
00:11:11.77\00:11:13.10
who frowned was
miraculously revived.
00:11:13.13\00:11:15.57
Yeah, I remember that story,
00:11:15.60\00:11:16.94
that will always stay with me
00:11:16.97\00:11:18.44
to have a child drown and
then we revived like that.
00:11:18.47\00:11:20.78
And then we get a
chance to touch on that
00:11:20.81\00:11:22.14
because we're talking
about resurrection today.
00:11:22.18\00:11:24.91
Let's go to our music
00:11:24.95\00:11:26.28
which is coming to
us from Wintley Phipps.
00:11:26.31\00:11:28.08
And we'll do that and
then we'll come right back.
00:11:28.12\00:11:30.92
But Wintley
Phipps is going to sing,
00:11:30.95\00:11:32.39
"The Lord in Zion Reigneth".
00:11:32.42\00:11:34.42
The Lord in Zion reigneth
00:11:57.85\00:12:02.08
Let all the world rejoice
00:12:02.12\00:12:06.45
And come before
his throne of grace
00:12:06.49\00:12:10.89
With tuneful heart and voice
00:12:10.93\00:12:15.16
The Lord in Zion reigneth
00:12:15.20\00:12:19.03
And there his praise shall ring
00:12:19.07\00:12:23.20
To him shall
princes bend the knee
00:12:23.24\00:12:27.34
And kings their glory bring
00:12:27.38\00:12:32.05
The Lord in Zion reigneth
00:12:37.92\00:12:42.19
And who so great as he?
00:12:42.22\00:12:46.46
The depths of
earth are in his hands
00:12:46.49\00:12:50.83
He rules the mighty sea
00:12:50.87\00:12:55.00
Oh crown his name with honor
00:12:55.04\00:12:59.04
And let his standard wave
00:12:59.07\00:13:03.14
Till distant
isles beyond the deep
00:13:03.18\00:13:07.38
Shall own his power to save
00:13:07.42\00:13:12.09
The Lord in Zion reigneth
00:13:17.93\00:13:22.16
These hours to him belong
00:13:22.20\00:13:26.23
Oh enter now his temple gates
00:13:26.27\00:13:30.77
And fill his courts with song
00:13:30.81\00:13:35.11
Beneath his royal banner
00:13:35.14\00:13:38.88
Let every creature fall
00:13:38.91\00:13:43.18
Exalt the King
of heaven and earth
00:13:43.22\00:13:47.42
And crown him Lord of all
00:13:47.46\00:13:53.90
Exalt the King
of heaven and earth
00:13:53.93\00:13:58.20
And crown him Lord of all!
00:13:58.23\00:14:03.67
Amen. Well done, Wintley Phipps.
00:14:24.43\00:14:26.29
He holds notes longer
than anyone that I know
00:14:26.33\00:14:29.83
and I tease him about that
00:14:29.86\00:14:31.20
because on
records we used to think,
00:14:31.23\00:14:33.10
"You can couple those together,
you can edit that together,"
00:14:33.13\00:14:36.24
but he does that all the time.
00:14:36.27\00:14:37.61
He's the real deal.
00:14:37.64\00:14:38.97
He has no problem
holding notes like that,
00:14:39.01\00:14:40.34
one of the great
voices of our time.
00:14:40.38\00:14:41.91
My guest, Larren Cole
who is here to talk today
00:14:41.94\00:14:47.12
about resurrections
something you know about.
00:14:47.15\00:14:50.29
But before we go into that,
00:14:50.32\00:14:51.79
let's just tap
the break a little bit
00:14:51.82\00:14:54.42
and talk about 7th Day Beaver
00:14:54.46\00:14:56.52
because that is something
that actually aired on our air
00:14:56.56\00:14:59.53
not too long ago,
00:14:59.56\00:15:01.56
that is kind of
exciting projects
00:15:01.60\00:15:03.03
that took a fairly decent slice
of your life to kind of prove
00:15:03.06\00:15:06.53
but tell us what
that is all about?
00:15:06.57\00:15:07.90
Yeah, well, you know,
just aired last Thursday,
00:15:07.94\00:15:09.47
I think, on 3ABN
00:15:09.50\00:15:10.84
but you know this is a
story about a family of beavers
00:15:10.87\00:15:13.48
that we observed
that did not work
00:15:13.51\00:15:15.71
or come out of the
lodge on Saturdays.
00:15:15.74\00:15:18.11
So a period of 16 years
was devoted to this observing.
00:15:18.15\00:15:24.29
And then the last three years,
00:15:24.32\00:15:25.65
we decided to
produce a documentary.
00:15:25.69\00:15:27.56
Lord impressed
us just to film it.
00:15:27.59\00:15:30.13
You know, it could be a blessing
00:15:30.16\00:15:31.49
and so I spent about three years
00:15:31.53\00:15:33.09
filming this documentary,
00:15:33.13\00:15:34.46
and it's got a lot of
theological Bible truth in it
00:15:34.50\00:15:38.90
as you probably seen, Dr.
Neil Nedley, Shelley Quinn,
00:15:38.93\00:15:41.94
Steve Wohlberg, Jerry Bandy,
00:15:41.97\00:15:43.71
our Bible experts are in there,
00:15:43.74\00:15:45.24
makes a great sharing tool.
00:15:45.27\00:15:47.08
And we're getting calls
00:15:47.11\00:15:48.48
from all over the
world for distribution.
00:15:48.51\00:15:49.84
Yeah, and it's a
neat little thing,
00:15:49.88\00:15:52.31
found a beaver that
didn't work on Saturday,
00:15:52.35\00:15:54.78
didn't work on Sabbath.
00:15:54.82\00:15:56.15
Didn't come out of
their lodge on Saturday
00:15:56.18\00:15:57.65
that I observed so...
00:15:57.69\00:15:59.69
And that's amazing for.
00:15:59.72\00:16:01.06
And this wasn't one day or
one month, several years...
00:16:01.09\00:16:04.63
Several years. You studied this.
00:16:04.66\00:16:06.19
Yeah. And it was true.
00:16:06.23\00:16:07.96
That's what I observed. Yeah.
00:16:08.00\00:16:09.33
It's just this family of beavers
00:16:09.36\00:16:11.13
over several generations,
00:16:11.17\00:16:13.00
and so I'm not saying that
all beavers rest on Saturday,
00:16:13.03\00:16:16.10
I'm just saying
this is what I observed.
00:16:16.14\00:16:18.07
And you know it has a
theological message behind it,
00:16:18.11\00:16:21.88
I'm sure.
00:16:21.91\00:16:23.24
So, yeah.
00:16:23.28\00:16:25.65
If we have time, I'd like
to do another documentary,
00:16:25.68\00:16:28.38
a follow up documentary called
"Animals that rest on Saturday"
00:16:28.42\00:16:31.69
because we've come across
a number of other situations
00:16:31.72\00:16:35.02
where other animals,
other biological creatures
00:16:35.06\00:16:37.53
that have a peculiar
rest pattern on Saturday,
00:16:37.56\00:16:40.90
just that one
day, not one in seven
00:16:40.93\00:16:42.96
but the seventh day, Saturday.
00:16:43.00\00:16:44.33
The seventh day. Yeah, yeah.
00:16:44.37\00:16:45.80
And I know you allude
to in that documentary
00:16:45.83\00:16:49.54
that you were aware
of some other animals
00:16:49.57\00:16:51.94
that also had the same pattern.
00:16:51.97\00:16:54.44
Yeah, and since
the production of this,
00:16:54.48\00:16:56.08
people have been
approaching me, even doctors.
00:16:56.11\00:16:58.85
People that
study circadian rhythms
00:16:58.88\00:17:00.38
and things have
been coming to me
00:17:00.42\00:17:01.75
and using the
information on this
00:17:01.78\00:17:03.32
and sharing information with me.
00:17:03.35\00:17:05.15
So amazing stories.
00:17:05.19\00:17:06.52
Yeah, that's kind of cool.
00:17:06.55\00:17:07.89
I heard someone,
00:17:07.92\00:17:09.26
I guess, they would fall
in a category with scoffer.
00:17:09.29\00:17:10.99
They said, "Well, why
don't all animals do that?"
00:17:11.03\00:17:13.13
Well, I don't know why
but those did, you know.
00:17:13.16\00:17:19.33
And it's
documented, so praise the Lord.
00:17:19.37\00:17:20.84
Yeah, somebody speculated maybe
through the corruption of time,
00:17:20.87\00:17:24.54
you know, that this is
maybe even lost in most animals
00:17:24.57\00:17:27.18
but I can imagine
God in the beginning
00:17:27.21\00:17:29.28
when he created animals
00:17:29.31\00:17:31.31
and then he created the Sabbath,
00:17:31.35\00:17:32.95
you can't imagine a
beaver going out there,
00:17:32.98\00:17:34.32
and it's working and the beaver
is going crazy and all that,
00:17:34.35\00:17:36.69
you know everything.
00:17:36.72\00:17:38.05
It's a rest day.
00:17:38.09\00:17:39.42
And I imagine every
one of God's creation
00:17:39.45\00:17:40.92
was probably had a
rest pattern on the Sabbath.
00:17:40.96\00:17:45.09
And it may have
been lost over time,
00:17:45.13\00:17:46.73
you know, this world is corrupt.
00:17:46.76\00:17:48.10
It could very well be.
00:17:48.13\00:17:49.46
Mankind has lost
it, that's for sure,
00:17:49.50\00:17:50.83
you know, and it
shouldn't have but there are...
00:17:50.87\00:17:53.03
Well, and it doesn't
really matter, Larren.
00:17:53.07\00:17:54.40
I think if every
animal in the world does it,
00:17:54.44\00:17:56.97
these did, these are proof
00:17:57.01\00:17:59.31
that there are animals who
do rest on the seventh day.
00:17:59.34\00:18:02.94
And, of course, we
have the commandment
00:18:02.98\00:18:04.31
to rest on the seventh day,
00:18:04.35\00:18:05.68
so it's in the human family
00:18:05.71\00:18:07.78
and it's also in nature
00:18:07.82\00:18:09.15
for which we
say praise the Lord.
00:18:09.18\00:18:10.52
Amen. Yeah.
00:18:10.55\00:18:11.89
God commanded us to
rest on the seventh day.
00:18:11.92\00:18:13.82
And they say God's
biddings are God's enabling
00:18:13.86\00:18:17.23
so inherent with every command
from God is the power to do it.
00:18:17.26\00:18:21.26
Yeah. And it's a
nice little piece.
00:18:21.30\00:18:23.13
Now who did most of
the camera work on that?
00:18:23.16\00:18:25.23
That would be
Jackson, probably Jackson,
00:18:25.27\00:18:27.34
but Alex spent his
fair share on the work,
00:18:27.37\00:18:30.27
and I ran a
camera too, you know.
00:18:30.31\00:18:32.47
It's just a lot of, lot of time.
00:18:32.51\00:18:34.31
It's really a
lot of sitting there,
00:18:34.34\00:18:36.81
especially on Saturday.
00:18:36.85\00:18:38.18
Saturday was a
boring day for me,
00:18:38.21\00:18:39.61
sit at the beaver lodge
you know, just run the camera.
00:18:39.65\00:18:41.98
And I know so you go
up on top of the lodge
00:18:42.02\00:18:43.95
and you listen and you
can hear them in there.
00:18:43.99\00:18:45.42
They are in. Yeah.
00:18:45.45\00:18:46.79
Yeah, probably have
worship or something like that,
00:18:46.82\00:18:48.16
or potluck, you know out there.
00:18:48.19\00:18:49.52
Yeah, potluck.
00:18:49.56\00:18:50.89
That's what it sounds
like because they're eating,
00:18:50.93\00:18:52.26
they're chewing
so they're not dead.
00:18:52.29\00:18:53.63
No, they're in there.
00:18:53.66\00:18:55.00
They're alive but
for whatever reason,
00:18:55.03\00:18:56.97
they wouldn't come out
00:18:57.00\00:18:59.00
just like they would
do on the other days.
00:18:59.03\00:19:00.40
Every other week
day, they would come out
00:19:00.44\00:19:01.77
but Saturday was
just an unusual thing.
00:19:01.80\00:19:04.11
Were you close enough?
00:19:04.14\00:19:05.47
Were they aware
of your presence?
00:19:05.51\00:19:07.98
You know that beavers
can't see or hear very well.
00:19:08.01\00:19:12.38
So I was able to be very sneaky.
00:19:12.41\00:19:14.25
If you go down
wind you can get close.
00:19:14.28\00:19:17.55
But if you're up
when they can smell you,
00:19:17.59\00:19:19.25
if they're out,
they're very leery,
00:19:19.29\00:19:20.96
if they're out of
the water you know.
00:19:20.99\00:19:23.49
One time, we were
at the beaver lodge
00:19:23.53\00:19:25.13
waiting to see
where are the beavers.
00:19:25.16\00:19:26.49
All of sudden, it's one
snuck up behind us, you know.
00:19:26.53\00:19:29.10
And then he saw us,
and just dropped a stick
00:19:29.13\00:19:30.97
and he just
isolated into the water.
00:19:31.00\00:19:32.60
And, you know, once
they are kind of aware
00:19:32.63\00:19:36.04
but they don't see you.
00:19:36.07\00:19:37.41
If you're still enough,
00:19:37.44\00:19:38.77
you know, we learn
how to be really still
00:19:38.81\00:19:40.14
and stealthful
00:19:40.18\00:19:41.51
and we could
observe in close range.
00:19:41.54\00:19:42.88
Yeah, so what I'm getting at
is that it wasn't your presence
00:19:42.91\00:19:45.38
that was keeping them in a lodge
00:19:45.41\00:19:46.75
because you
were there every day,
00:19:46.78\00:19:48.12
I mean you were
there on other days.
00:19:48.15\00:19:49.48
Yeah, and we were
consistently in the same spot.
00:19:49.52\00:19:51.29
Yeah, so we were not doing
anything unusual on Saturdays.
00:19:51.32\00:19:53.76
In fact, we were
there more often.
00:19:53.79\00:19:55.22
I mean, we were there
longer hours on Saturday
00:19:55.26\00:19:57.06
just to, you know, we
never got to the Sabbath,
00:19:57.09\00:19:58.73
what else have you got to do?
00:19:58.76\00:20:00.10
We're spending
time there in nature.
00:20:00.13\00:20:02.86
Other days, we work, you know,
we're busy but that's what...
00:20:02.90\00:20:06.33
Yeah, so we can get that,
00:20:06.37\00:20:07.70
and we'll talk about
your contact information
00:20:07.74\00:20:09.77
just a little bit.
00:20:09.80\00:20:11.14
Let's walk into
what you're here for,
00:20:11.17\00:20:12.51
and that's talking about
the resurrection experience.
00:20:12.54\00:20:15.54
So I'm going to give it to you
00:20:15.58\00:20:16.91
and kind of take us
through what you've got learned.
00:20:16.95\00:20:18.71
Okay, yeah.
00:20:18.75\00:20:20.08
So this whole series,
00:20:20.12\00:20:21.75
we're talking about
the 12 resurrection stories
00:20:21.78\00:20:23.85
in the Bible, you know.
00:20:23.89\00:20:25.22
If you count, there are
12, 12 stories in the Bible.
00:20:25.25\00:20:28.22
And this sort of stems
00:20:28.26\00:20:29.89
or it sort of predicated
00:20:29.92\00:20:31.26
on the whole idea
of the Jackson story,
00:20:31.29\00:20:33.70
a modern day resurrection.
00:20:33.73\00:20:35.36
And so then we have a seminar,
00:20:35.40\00:20:37.97
a seminar series called
a Modern Day Resurrection
00:20:38.00\00:20:39.93
where we talk
about the Jackson story,
00:20:39.97\00:20:41.57
and we also talk about
the 12 resurrection stories.
00:20:41.60\00:20:44.11
Give us the two minute
00:20:44.14\00:20:45.94
reader's digest
version of Jackson story?
00:20:45.97\00:20:48.34
Yeah, the two
minute reader's digest,
00:20:48.38\00:20:49.74
well, this is a
story about my son
00:20:49.78\00:20:51.85
aged two and a half,
00:20:51.88\00:20:53.21
he wandered off,
I was a bad parent,
00:20:53.25\00:20:54.98
I wasn't
watching closely enough,
00:20:55.02\00:20:57.19
wandered into a pond, drowned,
00:20:57.22\00:20:59.35
and was there for
probably 30 minutes,
00:20:59.39\00:21:02.22
we're guessing you know
we're not sure how long,
00:21:02.26\00:21:03.59
could've been longer,
00:21:03.63\00:21:04.96
could have been
a little shorter,
00:21:04.99\00:21:06.33
and he drowned.
00:21:06.36\00:21:07.70
By the time I
went to look for him,
00:21:07.73\00:21:09.06
I found him in a pond,
00:21:09.10\00:21:10.43
I rescued him out of there,
00:21:10.47\00:21:11.80
he was completely
dead, no vital signs.
00:21:11.83\00:21:15.27
Now you're saying that
00:21:15.30\00:21:16.64
as a person with a
medical background,
00:21:16.67\00:21:18.71
wife with a medical background,
00:21:18.74\00:21:20.34
so you know dead from alive...
00:21:20.38\00:21:22.01
Dead from alive, yeah.
00:21:22.04\00:21:23.38
You're saying it
may not have been 30
00:21:23.41\00:21:24.85
but it wasn't 10, it
wasn't 15, it wasn't 20.
00:21:24.88\00:21:27.85
It was better part of 30
or more minutes in the pond.
00:21:27.88\00:21:31.75
In the pond,
because he had the time
00:21:31.79\00:21:33.12
to drift away
out into the middle,
00:21:33.15\00:21:34.62
he was still, and he
was cold, his temperature,
00:21:34.66\00:21:37.33
he had assumes the
pond's temperature.
00:21:37.36\00:21:39.53
He's very cold.
00:21:39.56\00:21:41.20
Yeah, and so as
I rescued him out,
00:21:41.23\00:21:43.20
took vital signs,
there was nothing there,
00:21:43.23\00:21:44.77
you know, just the
despair you can imagine.
00:21:44.80\00:21:46.70
This is the most horrible
experience I've ever had.
00:21:46.74\00:21:49.97
And through some experiences,
number of experiences,
00:21:50.01\00:21:53.41
prayer I mean, I'm
just really pray out to God
00:21:53.44\00:21:55.48
and God told me,
00:21:55.51\00:21:56.85
"Hey, now would be a
good time to try CPR."
00:21:56.88\00:21:59.08
And so I did CPR.
00:21:59.11\00:22:00.75
It wasn't working
till the third repetition,
00:22:00.78\00:22:03.18
he finally inhaled
00:22:03.22\00:22:04.55
but he came back,
he came back to life.
00:22:04.59\00:22:06.49
His condition was
so bad that he was,
00:22:06.52\00:22:08.62
you know, he was
just spastic all over.
00:22:08.66\00:22:10.73
I took him to
the hospital, prayed.
00:22:10.76\00:22:13.26
God said, you know,
"Ask me for another miracle."
00:22:13.29\00:22:16.63
I prayed, asked God
for another miracle,
00:22:16.67\00:22:18.10
went in there
00:22:18.13\00:22:19.47
as he was in this
condition on the ER,
00:22:19.50\00:22:22.34
he was moaning and
spastic eyes rolled out
00:22:22.37\00:22:25.81
in the back of
his head, moaning.
00:22:25.84\00:22:27.28
I just asked Jackson, I
said, "Jackson, are you cold?"
00:22:27.31\00:22:29.64
And I reached
and touched his body.
00:22:29.68\00:22:31.05
As soon as I touched
him, his body relaxed,
00:22:31.08\00:22:33.35
he turned, his eyes
came back in their sockets.
00:22:33.38\00:22:36.45
He looked at me and said, "Yes."
00:22:36.48\00:22:38.19
And from that moment on,
it was a complete restoration.
00:22:38.22\00:22:43.76
What an experience.
00:22:43.79\00:22:45.13
So and then he was
fine, went to the ICU.
00:22:45.16\00:22:46.93
And, boy, perfect condition.
00:22:46.96\00:22:49.50
He has absolutely no damage.
00:22:49.53\00:22:52.23
See, there's so many
side things that could happen.
00:22:52.27\00:22:55.57
Brain activity, you
know, not getting oxygen
00:22:55.60\00:22:58.17
for that period of time,
00:22:58.21\00:22:59.54
there's so many
ways, so many things.
00:22:59.57\00:23:00.91
Yeah, as a physical therapist,
00:23:00.94\00:23:02.28
I've treated patients
that were drowning victims.
00:23:02.31\00:23:04.45
And it was cerebral
palsy and those kind of things,
00:23:04.48\00:23:06.41
and for the most
part, they don't get better,
00:23:06.45\00:23:08.95
they just
become more functional,
00:23:08.98\00:23:10.55
we just try to get them
better function in life.
00:23:10.59\00:23:12.89
And so he should have
been disabled to say the least.
00:23:12.92\00:23:19.39
And he's
absolutely in perfect shape,
00:23:19.43\00:23:21.70
you know, he's the director
of our media, Desire Media,
00:23:21.73\00:23:25.70
he is a bright kid,
app developer for Apple.
00:23:25.73\00:23:28.87
And you know he's a real
blessing to our ministry.
00:23:28.90\00:23:32.24
God is just using this guy.
00:23:32.27\00:23:34.11
And he's our techie guy,
00:23:34.14\00:23:35.54
you know, our
techie go to all our kids,
00:23:35.58\00:23:37.45
Jackson and Carter,
00:23:37.48\00:23:38.81
I mean, Alex and
Carter both really techie
00:23:38.85\00:23:40.18
but this guy's
got a special gift.
00:23:40.22\00:23:43.82
And so that what
we're talking about
00:23:43.85\00:23:45.42
the 12 resurrection stories
00:23:45.45\00:23:46.79
sort of is
predicated off this story
00:23:46.82\00:23:48.89
which we share in a seminar
00:23:48.92\00:23:50.33
and then we go and we share
00:23:50.36\00:23:51.69
each of the 12 resurrection
stories in a seminar.
00:23:51.73\00:23:54.00
And of course we're not going
00:23:54.03\00:23:55.36
to be able to do
that in a short time
00:23:55.40\00:23:56.73
but we can go as an
overview one at a time.
00:23:56.77\00:24:00.14
Yeah, let's walk
through some of that stuff.
00:24:00.17\00:24:01.70
So mankind's biggest
problem is death, isn't it?
00:24:01.74\00:24:05.64
I think it's James 4:14,
that says, "What is your life?
00:24:05.67\00:24:09.14
What is your life all about?"
00:24:09.18\00:24:10.78
And James is talking
about the lifespan of humanity.
00:24:10.81\00:24:14.28
He says it's a
vapor that come...
00:24:14.32\00:24:17.05
It appears and then it's gone.
00:24:17.09\00:24:19.69
And so I remember, you
know, I used to be a teenager.
00:24:19.72\00:24:23.22
It was not long...
00:24:23.26\00:24:24.59
Now look at me, I got gray hair,
00:24:24.63\00:24:26.09
I got sore joints.
00:24:26.13\00:24:28.06
You used to be a
teenager, you're aging very well
00:24:28.10\00:24:30.67
but you know it just
seems like yesterday.
00:24:30.70\00:24:33.37
Mankind's biggest
problem for the secular mind,
00:24:33.40\00:24:36.24
for the religious mind is death.
00:24:36.27\00:24:39.51
God's biggest solution
for that is the resurrection.
00:24:39.54\00:24:42.01
Amen.
00:24:42.04\00:24:43.38
I think in John
6:40, Jesus said,
00:24:43.41\00:24:44.95
"Everyone who looks on
the Son and believes on Him,
00:24:44.98\00:24:49.52
should have eternal life."
00:24:49.55\00:24:51.02
This is an incredible promise.
00:24:51.05\00:24:52.82
And the other
promise is he says,
00:24:52.85\00:24:54.72
"I will raise him
up on the last day."
00:24:54.76\00:24:57.86
On the last day, so the last day
00:24:57.89\00:25:00.03
is always referring
to the resurrection day,
00:25:00.06\00:25:02.20
that's when Jesus
comes, the last day.
00:25:02.23\00:25:03.77
1 Thessalonians
4:16, 1 Corinthians 15:52,
00:25:03.80\00:25:07.47
it's talking about
Jesus, the last day
00:25:07.50\00:25:09.57
is that trump when it sounds
00:25:09.60\00:25:11.27
and the dead in
Christ are raised.
00:25:11.31\00:25:14.78
It has a scheduled date.
00:25:14.81\00:25:16.75
Just in the news
recently, see, maybe you saw it.
00:25:16.78\00:25:19.31
There was a lady,
00:25:19.35\00:25:20.68
a Canadian woman by
the name of Kaling Wald.
00:25:20.72\00:25:24.92
She lived with
her husband's corpse
00:25:24.95\00:25:27.09
for six months
00:25:27.12\00:25:28.46
while she and
six of her children
00:25:28.49\00:25:30.33
and a bunch of neighbors prayed
every day for his resurrection.
00:25:30.36\00:25:34.10
They pray and it was six
months and after six months,
00:25:34.13\00:25:36.70
the sheriff showed up
with an eviction notice
00:25:36.73\00:25:39.27
because she failed
to pay her mortgage.
00:25:39.30\00:25:41.07
And so then he
noticed the smell.
00:25:41.10\00:25:43.17
And she was trying to...
00:25:43.20\00:25:45.67
I don't know
for whatever reason,
00:25:45.71\00:25:47.04
they felt that they could pray
00:25:47.08\00:25:48.41
and one of these days,
he's going to be raised.
00:25:48.44\00:25:49.94
Wow.
00:25:49.98\00:25:52.61
The resurrection
actually has a scheduled date.
00:25:52.65\00:25:55.88
And like I said earlier,
00:25:55.92\00:25:58.55
I think to me when I
was coming to the Lord,
00:25:58.59\00:26:01.59
this doctrine
of the resurrection
00:26:01.62\00:26:03.02
that someone can go from
being dead to being alive again,
00:26:03.06\00:26:06.93
to me, that was the most
00:26:06.96\00:26:08.30
substantial
doctrine in the Bible.
00:26:08.33\00:26:10.13
I thought that was
the most beautiful thing.
00:26:10.17\00:26:12.37
Now all our
major world religions
00:26:12.40\00:26:15.67
deny the resurrection.
00:26:15.70\00:26:17.04
This one particular doctrine
00:26:17.07\00:26:18.41
is denied by every
major world religion.
00:26:18.44\00:26:21.21
Buddhists, they
believe in reincarnation,
00:26:21.24\00:26:23.55
denying the resurrection.
00:26:23.58\00:26:25.05
Our friends, the Hindus,
00:26:25.08\00:26:26.41
they believe in
that when you die,
00:26:26.45\00:26:28.65
you return in advancing stages.
00:26:28.68\00:26:31.22
Our Muslim friends
believe that when you die,
00:26:31.25\00:26:34.72
your body and soul separate,
00:26:34.76\00:26:36.42
and the body goes to
the dirt and decomposes
00:26:36.46\00:26:39.76
which is biblical
00:26:39.79\00:26:41.13
but the soul goes to a
transient place for a time
00:26:41.16\00:26:43.83
and then after
that time is finished,
00:26:43.87\00:26:46.23
then you go to
paradise or to hell.
00:26:46.27\00:26:49.50
Right?
00:26:49.54\00:26:50.87
Unless you're a suicide
bomber like these ISIS folks.
00:26:50.91\00:26:52.71
If you're one of those,
00:26:52.74\00:26:54.08
you don't go to
that transient place,
00:26:54.11\00:26:55.44
you are fast
tracked to a martyr's heaven
00:26:55.48\00:26:58.28
because here in
the name of Allah,
00:26:58.31\00:26:59.65
you know, you wage jihad
on the Great White Satan.
00:26:59.68\00:27:04.89
And they're spiritualist,
00:27:04.92\00:27:06.25
you have the
spiritualist movement
00:27:06.29\00:27:07.62
which is a growing movement
in the world of religion.
00:27:07.66\00:27:10.23
The spiritualist believe
00:27:10.26\00:27:12.09
exactly the same
thing as the Muslims
00:27:12.13\00:27:14.10
except they believe in
communicating with the dead.
00:27:14.13\00:27:17.20
It's the same thing,
communicating with dead people.
00:27:17.23\00:27:20.37
Now that's
creeping into Christianity,
00:27:20.40\00:27:22.04
it's been for a long time.
00:27:22.07\00:27:23.77
Popular Christianity,
00:27:23.81\00:27:25.37
I'm not saying that's
good Bible believing Christian
00:27:25.41\00:27:28.94
but in the
nominal Christian world,
00:27:28.98\00:27:31.15
it's pretty much the same thing.
00:27:31.18\00:27:32.61
They teach that when you
die, your body goes to the grave
00:27:32.65\00:27:36.35
but your soul leaves for a time
00:27:36.38\00:27:39.75
and then you go to
hell or heaven, right?
00:27:39.79\00:27:43.22
If you've been
good, you go to heaven.
00:27:43.26\00:27:44.59
If you've been bad,
that's not of the Bible, is it?
00:27:44.63\00:27:46.63
Yeah, it's a problem
you make for yourself
00:27:46.66\00:27:48.46
when you start from the premise
00:27:48.50\00:27:51.00
that the soul is immortal.
00:27:51.03\00:27:52.73
And once you make that premise,
00:27:52.77\00:27:54.90
then everything you build on it,
00:27:54.94\00:27:56.27
you've got to put
that soul someplace
00:27:56.30\00:27:57.64
when the body dies.
00:27:57.67\00:27:59.01
So now you're forced to
do a eternal burning hell
00:27:59.04\00:28:01.61
or immediately going to heaven,
00:28:01.64\00:28:02.98
both of which are not biblical.
00:28:03.01\00:28:04.45
Yeah, and so this whole
idea is promoted in the media,
00:28:04.48\00:28:09.02
you know, you have in books.
00:28:09.05\00:28:12.19
There's a book called, it was,
00:28:12.22\00:28:13.92
"The Boy Who Came
Back From Heaven",
00:28:13.96\00:28:16.89
it was written by
Kevin and Alex Malarkey,
00:28:16.93\00:28:19.66
did you hear about that?
00:28:19.69\00:28:21.30
Yeah.
00:28:21.33\00:28:22.66
It's a book.
Interesting last name.
00:28:22.70\00:28:24.27
He died.
00:28:24.30\00:28:25.63
In the preface, you
can read that, let's see.
00:28:25.67\00:28:27.50
He died on the operating table,
00:28:27.54\00:28:29.54
although he sort of went
to a coma and kind of died.
00:28:29.57\00:28:32.07
And he came back
after two months of a coma
00:28:32.11\00:28:34.81
and he talks about
how he went to heaven,
00:28:34.84\00:28:37.75
how he met Jesus, how
he heard heavenly music.
00:28:37.78\00:28:41.55
And it was published
in a book, bestseller.
00:28:41.58\00:28:44.95
And the publishers
called it a true story.
00:28:44.99\00:28:48.86
Now you laughed at the name.
00:28:48.89\00:28:51.09
I think God is giving
us a sort of a clue, right,
00:28:51.13\00:28:53.66
with the last name Malarkey.
00:28:53.70\00:28:56.16
Malarkey is sort
of an Irish surname,
00:28:56.20\00:28:57.53
I did a little
etymology, study on that.
00:28:57.57\00:28:59.03
And Malarkey comes
from an Irish surname
00:28:59.07\00:29:01.87
of a man who
used to be notorious
00:29:01.90\00:29:04.04
for deceiving people.
00:29:04.07\00:29:05.41
Ever since then,
we use that word,
00:29:05.44\00:29:06.78
"Oh, that's a
bunch of malarkey."
00:29:06.81\00:29:08.64
Now just in the news,
00:29:08.68\00:29:10.01
recently you
probably heard this,
00:29:10.05\00:29:11.55
Alex Malarkey
recanted his story.
00:29:11.58\00:29:14.05
And this is what
it says. He said...
00:29:14.08\00:29:16.08
I wrote it down. And
he said, "I did not die.
00:29:16.12\00:29:18.45
I did not go to heaven.
00:29:18.49\00:29:19.95
I said I went to heaven
00:29:19.99\00:29:21.36
because I thought it
would get me attention.
00:29:21.39\00:29:23.93
When I made the
claims that I did,
00:29:23.96\00:29:25.63
I had never read the Bible.
00:29:25.66\00:29:27.10
People have profited
from lies and continued to.
00:29:27.13\00:29:29.96
They should read the
Bible which is enough.
00:29:30.00\00:29:32.87
The Bible is the
only source of truth,
00:29:32.90\00:29:34.80
anything written by
man cannot be infallible.
00:29:34.84\00:29:37.71
I want the whole world to
know the Bible is sufficient.
00:29:37.74\00:29:41.08
Those who market
these materials,"
00:29:41.11\00:29:43.18
and he was
addressing his recantation
00:29:43.21\00:29:45.78
towards the producers of
the book or the publishers,
00:29:45.81\00:29:48.55
"those who
market these materials
00:29:48.58\00:29:49.92
must be called to repent
00:29:49.95\00:29:51.35
and hold the Bible as enough.
00:29:51.39\00:29:53.52
In Christ, Alex Malarkey."
00:29:53.56\00:29:55.49
Wow! What a statement of faith.
00:29:55.52\00:29:56.99
Wow. He debunks his own work.
00:29:57.03\00:29:59.29
He debunks his own work
because it's conscience.
00:29:59.33\00:30:01.16
Malarkey says that
his book is malarkey.
00:30:01.20\00:30:02.53
He's reading in the
Bible, you know, the Bible says,
00:30:02.56\00:30:04.47
"The hour is coming in
00:30:04.50\00:30:06.27
which all that are in the graves
00:30:06.30\00:30:08.24
will hear his voice."
00:30:08.27\00:30:09.77
And so when
somebody says they died
00:30:09.80\00:30:12.24
and they went out of their body
00:30:12.27\00:30:13.61
and they went to
travel off to heaven
00:30:13.64\00:30:16.01
or they've traveled into hell
and they saw all these things.
00:30:16.04\00:30:19.05
What that's telling me
is either they're not dead,
00:30:19.08\00:30:21.98
they're really not dead
00:30:22.02\00:30:23.35
or they're not
telling the truth, right?
00:30:23.39\00:30:24.92
Like Alex Malarkey
wasn't really telling the truth.
00:30:24.95\00:30:27.82
And so those are the groups
that deny the resurrection.
00:30:27.86\00:30:31.76
There's another one in
the Bible in Matthew 22:24,
00:30:31.79\00:30:38.13
you see, it's actually verse 23.
00:30:38.17\00:30:40.50
You see another group
that denies the resurrection
00:30:40.54\00:30:42.40
by their view of
what happens when you die.
00:30:42.44\00:30:45.47
So it's the Sadducees.
00:30:45.51\00:30:46.94
You see, Matthew 22 is wonderful
00:30:46.98\00:30:49.44
because Matthew
22 is this chapter
00:30:49.48\00:30:52.61
where you have the
scribes, the Pharisees,
00:30:52.65\00:30:54.95
the lawyers, the
doctors of the law,
00:30:54.98\00:30:56.48
all trying to come at Jesus
00:30:56.52\00:30:57.99
with schemes to discredit Him.
00:30:58.02\00:31:01.79
And so in verse 23, it says,
00:31:01.82\00:31:03.16
"The same day, the
Sadducees come to Jesus."
00:31:03.19\00:31:06.59
And what is their
little peculiar doctrine
00:31:06.63\00:31:09.60
that they say their
contribution to theology is
00:31:09.63\00:31:12.53
they say there
is no resurrection.
00:31:12.57\00:31:16.40
So the issue is
the resurrection.
00:31:16.44\00:31:17.77
Now this is interesting
because they're trying
00:31:17.81\00:31:19.91
to discredit Jesus
on the resurrection.
00:31:19.94\00:31:22.34
And so the very next verse,
00:31:22.38\00:31:23.78
they start in on
their little scheme,
00:31:23.81\00:31:25.85
their scenario.
00:31:25.88\00:31:27.22
They say, "Jesus,
teacher Moses said,"
00:31:27.25\00:31:31.02
and in those first three words,
00:31:31.05\00:31:32.45
you see a lot of irony
00:31:32.49\00:31:33.96
because here they are,
they're talking to Jesus.
00:31:33.99\00:31:35.82
Jesus says, "I am
the resurrection."
00:31:35.86\00:31:37.83
And Moses is the first
person who was ever resurrected.
00:31:37.86\00:31:42.10
So as their
little scenario unfolds,
00:31:42.13\00:31:46.90
they're going to use Moses
00:31:46.94\00:31:48.70
to try to discredit Jesus
00:31:48.74\00:31:50.27
on the subject
of the resurrection.
00:31:50.31\00:31:52.97
So you see a lot of irony here
00:31:53.01\00:31:54.74
and the Sadducees of
course are off balanced.
00:31:54.78\00:31:56.91
See, Moses is the first
of 12 resurrection accounts
00:31:56.95\00:32:00.58
that are in the Bible.
00:32:00.62\00:32:01.95
So you have Moses,
the next one, let's see.
00:32:01.98\00:32:04.89
It's the widow of
Zarephath, her son.
00:32:04.92\00:32:07.62
And there's a woman
of Shunem by Elisha.
00:32:07.66\00:32:10.49
And then Elisha's bones perform
a resurrection in 2 Kings 13.
00:32:10.53\00:32:16.40
He's the first one to resurrect
00:32:16.43\00:32:18.17
a dead person after he was dead.
00:32:18.20\00:32:19.53
After he was dead, yeah.
00:32:19.57\00:32:20.90
So there you have.
00:32:20.94\00:32:22.27
So here they are.
00:32:22.30\00:32:23.81
They're trying
to discredit Jesus,
00:32:23.84\00:32:25.17
they bring up Moses.
00:32:25.21\00:32:26.54
And so in their little
scheme, their scenario,
00:32:26.57\00:32:28.81
Matthew 22:24-28,
00:32:28.84\00:32:31.08
they talk about a man who
married a woman and he dies.
00:32:31.11\00:32:35.15
They don't have any
kids, so Moses in the law says
00:32:35.18\00:32:37.99
that the brothers
supposed to take up the wife,
00:32:38.02\00:32:39.82
and raise up seed.
00:32:39.85\00:32:41.52
And then their
scenario continues on.
00:32:41.56\00:32:43.02
Say, well, there
were seven brothers
00:32:43.06\00:32:44.63
each of which
had the same woman.
00:32:44.66\00:32:46.80
And they never had kids.
00:32:46.83\00:32:48.70
One by one, they all died,
00:32:48.73\00:32:50.07
and at last,
the woman died also.
00:32:50.10\00:32:52.63
So their
question to trap Jesus is,
00:32:52.67\00:32:54.87
in the resurrection,
whose wife will she be?
00:32:54.90\00:32:59.44
And so Jesus answers in
verse 29, Matthew 22:29,
00:32:59.47\00:33:06.18
the lesson that Jesus
has for us is in His answer.
00:33:06.21\00:33:09.18
He says in King
James, "Ye do err."
00:33:09.22\00:33:13.36
Right, in two
areas, or other words,
00:33:13.39\00:33:14.86
you are mistaken in two areas.
00:33:14.89\00:33:17.33
Number one, not
knowing the scriptures.
00:33:17.36\00:33:20.00
And number two,
nor the power of God.
00:33:20.03\00:33:22.96
And the power of God tells us
00:33:23.00\00:33:24.83
that God has the
power to raise lives.
00:33:24.87\00:33:27.44
They're talking to Jesus.
00:33:27.47\00:33:28.80
Jesus is the resurrection.
00:33:28.84\00:33:30.74
And number one, He says
not knowing the scripture,
00:33:30.77\00:33:33.51
He tells the Sadducees,
you err, you don't know this,
00:33:33.54\00:33:35.91
because you don't
know the Scriptures.
00:33:35.94\00:33:38.21
Now while most people believe
00:33:38.25\00:33:40.58
or most religions teach
by their world view of death
00:33:40.62\00:33:43.35
that death is
really a transition,
00:33:43.39\00:33:45.42
you don't really die,
00:33:45.45\00:33:46.96
you sort of
transition from this,
00:33:46.99\00:33:49.39
you know, this mortal body.
00:33:49.42\00:33:51.09
Your body may die
00:33:51.13\00:33:52.46
but you go through a transition.
00:33:52.49\00:33:54.16
The Bible teaches
that death is a sleep.
00:33:54.20\00:33:56.56
Right?
00:33:56.60\00:33:57.93
I counted in my Bible,
00:33:57.97\00:33:59.30
52 times, at least 52 times
00:33:59.33\00:34:01.37
where the Bible
equates death with sleep.
00:34:01.40\00:34:04.71
Our friend Lazarus sleeps,
00:34:04.74\00:34:07.28
the damsel's not
dead but she's sleeping.
00:34:07.31\00:34:10.35
Abraham died and
slept with his fathers
00:34:10.38\00:34:12.98
and was buried in
the Cave of Machpelah.
00:34:13.01\00:34:15.32
You know, on and on and on.
00:34:15.35\00:34:17.45
Death is just a sleep.
00:34:17.49\00:34:19.05
In fact, I think it's
more than a sleep really.
00:34:19.09\00:34:22.39
Have you ever been
under general anesthesia?
00:34:22.42\00:34:25.39
I hate to ask
that... Yes, I actually have.
00:34:25.43\00:34:27.00
Where you got, where you go.
00:34:27.03\00:34:28.93
Now, that's a good
way to describe probably
00:34:28.96\00:34:31.30
what it's like to be dead.
00:34:31.33\00:34:32.67
I remember one time
being on the operating table.
00:34:32.70\00:34:34.30
Loma Linda University,
00:34:34.34\00:34:36.87
an outpatient's
procedure had to take place.
00:34:36.91\00:34:39.97
And so there was a lot
of doctors in training,
00:34:40.01\00:34:42.64
nurses in training.
00:34:42.68\00:34:44.01
I'm on the
operating table, laying there.
00:34:44.05\00:34:46.65
And they're all
hovering over my body.
00:34:46.68\00:34:49.35
And they're waiting
for me to go to sleep.
00:34:49.38\00:34:51.45
The gas mask is on me,
00:34:51.49\00:34:53.56
and the gas is
being administered.
00:34:53.59\00:34:55.66
And I'm not
sleepy, I'm not tired.
00:34:55.69\00:34:58.29
And they are
waving goodbye to me
00:34:58.33\00:35:00.13
because they know
what's going to happen,
00:35:00.16\00:35:01.50
you're going to go out, buddy.
00:35:01.53\00:35:03.26
But I'm assuming, what
are these people doing?
00:35:03.30\00:35:04.83
That's kind of disrespectful.
00:35:04.87\00:35:06.33
What you've got in your hand?
You've got a scalpel there.
00:35:06.37\00:35:08.04
You know, what do you
gonna do is cutting me,
00:35:08.07\00:35:09.54
and so I'm sitting there
00:35:09.57\00:35:10.91
and they're
waving good night to me.
00:35:10.94\00:35:13.44
And I remember feeling a
little irritant in my eye
00:35:13.48\00:35:17.38
and so I blinked my eye.
00:35:17.41\00:35:18.75
Just like, I remember
doing this like that just,
00:35:18.78\00:35:21.18
and when my eye
opened from that blink,
00:35:21.22\00:35:24.19
they all disappeared.
00:35:24.22\00:35:26.35
I blinked and, as
I opened up my eye,
00:35:26.39\00:35:29.79
I said how they do?
00:35:29.82\00:35:31.16
They were gone.
They disappeared.
00:35:31.19\00:35:33.60
And I was in a different room
and six hours had passed or so
00:35:33.63\00:35:37.07
and I had the procedure done.
00:35:37.10\00:35:39.17
I said, how do they do that?
00:35:39.20\00:35:40.87
Now that's what the
Bible says, "death is like,"
00:35:40.90\00:35:42.70
the Bible I think in
Corinthians 1:15 says,
00:35:42.74\00:35:44.94
"In a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye."
00:35:44.97\00:35:47.88
That's in 15:52 and
55. Fifty two, yeah.
00:35:47.91\00:35:51.78
"At the last trump: for
the trumpet shall sound,
00:35:51.81\00:35:53.82
and the dead shall be
raised incorruptible."
00:35:53.85\00:35:56.28
But I like the way Paul puts
it in the twinkling of an eye.
00:35:56.32\00:35:59.02
So when you die, I
mean the time passage
00:35:59.05\00:36:02.52
could be absolutely as if
a blink of an eye took place.
00:36:02.56\00:36:07.36
And so that's Moses story.
00:36:07.40\00:36:08.76
Now Moses sort of introduces
this concept to the world
00:36:08.80\00:36:12.33
that a guy can go from
being dead to being alive.
00:36:12.37\00:36:15.94
That's the first guy
ever to be resurrected.
00:36:15.97\00:36:18.01
Okay.
00:36:18.04\00:36:19.37
And then in the Old Testament,
we have a few more accounts,
00:36:19.41\00:36:21.58
you've got the
widow of Zarephath,
00:36:21.61\00:36:22.94
you've got her son
and that was Elijah.
00:36:22.98\00:36:26.28
And then Elijah does
too and that's interesting
00:36:26.31\00:36:28.15
because you see Elijah,
00:36:28.18\00:36:30.35
Elisha actually
had a double portion
00:36:30.39\00:36:32.35
of Elijah's spirit.
00:36:32.39\00:36:33.72
Yes.
00:36:33.76\00:36:35.09
And so you see a major
miracles done by Elijah,
00:36:35.12\00:36:38.23
16 with that
raising of the bones thing,
00:36:38.26\00:36:42.00
a guy got thrown
into a sepulcher.
00:36:42.03\00:36:44.70
His body touched, his dead
body touched the bones of Elijah
00:36:44.73\00:36:47.77
and the Bible
says, "He stood up."
00:36:47.80\00:36:49.14
Yes, sir. He revived.
00:36:49.17\00:36:50.51
And then with that
miracle that was number 16.
00:36:50.54\00:36:53.14
And so there you
see a double portion.
00:36:53.17\00:36:55.21
And so that's the Old
Testament that's just four...
00:36:55.24\00:36:57.35
There's just four
stories in the Old Testament.
00:36:57.38\00:37:00.15
In the New Testament
the first resurrection
00:37:00.18\00:37:02.72
Jairus' daughter.
00:37:02.75\00:37:05.79
Jairus' daughter, and you notice
00:37:05.82\00:37:07.16
that most of these
resurrection accounts
00:37:07.19\00:37:09.69
are with young people
00:37:09.72\00:37:11.33
and that's in Matthew
9, and also in Mark 5.
00:37:11.36\00:37:15.46
Most of them are
young people. Yeah.
00:37:15.50\00:37:16.93
You know, when a
young person dies
00:37:16.97\00:37:18.40
like with my son
00:37:18.43\00:37:19.77
when he was dead
for a while there,
00:37:19.80\00:37:21.54
it's the most shocking
thing, disrupting thing to your,
00:37:21.57\00:37:25.07
I mean, to your
plans, everything...
00:37:25.11\00:37:26.44
Oh, it is, it's got to be. Yeah.
00:37:26.47\00:37:27.81
And so when a young person dies,
00:37:27.84\00:37:29.74
I mean, I remember I
had a good friend of mine,
00:37:29.78\00:37:33.45
Dr. Craig Myers, I
was a good... Oh, yeah.
00:37:33.48\00:37:37.85
It was his
birthday, he had just,
00:37:37.89\00:37:39.35
he had a thriving practice
00:37:39.39\00:37:40.72
West Covina,
Southern California,
00:37:40.76\00:37:42.39
neurology practice,
00:37:42.42\00:37:43.86
brilliant guy, top of his class.
00:37:43.89\00:37:46.49
It was his
birthday, he flew the family
00:37:46.53\00:37:48.53
all his friends and his
family members to Hawaii.
00:37:48.56\00:37:51.40
Oh, wow. Oh his birthday.
00:37:51.43\00:37:52.77
They're about to
sing happy birthday to him
00:37:52.80\00:37:54.87
at the restaurant
lobby hotel thing.
00:37:54.90\00:37:57.34
They're all gathered
around, it's his birthday.
00:37:57.37\00:38:00.21
He has an aneurism,
00:38:00.24\00:38:01.64
his head slumps over
in his food and he dies.
00:38:01.68\00:38:04.61
His wife Julian
thought he was joking.
00:38:04.65\00:38:06.58
She said, knock it off Craig.
00:38:06.61\00:38:08.48
But can you imagine
this was a disruption.
00:38:08.52\00:38:11.25
Talk about a party pooper.
00:38:11.29\00:38:12.89
I mean, he is
the guest of honor,
00:38:12.92\00:38:14.89
it's his birthday.
00:38:14.92\00:38:16.26
And that's what death
and that's what you see
00:38:16.29\00:38:17.83
in the seven out of the
twelve resurrection accounts.
00:38:17.86\00:38:19.89
You see that it just
come bam, out of nowhere.
00:38:19.93\00:38:23.06
And so Jairus
here in this situation,
00:38:23.10\00:38:24.77
he didn't expect death
to happen to his daughter.
00:38:24.80\00:38:27.37
You know, he called
Jesus and Jesus in Mark,
00:38:27.40\00:38:30.21
you see that Mark brings it out
00:38:30.24\00:38:32.11
more clearly
that Jesus is delayed
00:38:32.14\00:38:33.98
by that woman that
had the issue of blood
00:38:34.01\00:38:36.04
and so, as he calls Jesus
to come heal his daughter.
00:38:36.08\00:38:39.98
Jesus is delayed, the
message comes to Jairus saying,
00:38:40.02\00:38:42.92
don't trouble
the master any more,
00:38:42.95\00:38:44.52
your daughter is dead.
00:38:44.55\00:38:46.76
And so Jesus says to Jairus,
00:38:46.79\00:38:48.92
he says, "Don't
fear only believe."
00:38:48.96\00:38:52.83
Only believe.
00:38:52.86\00:38:54.20
And so by the
time Jairus and Jesus,
00:38:54.23\00:38:56.60
and the
disciples get to the place
00:38:56.63\00:38:59.63
where the girl is
dead in the house.
00:38:59.67\00:39:02.60
They come upon
the scene of mourners,
00:39:02.64\00:39:04.67
paid mourners that
are wailing and crying
00:39:04.71\00:39:07.08
and carrying on and
Jesus addresses those folks
00:39:07.11\00:39:09.88
and says, "Why all the noise?
00:39:09.91\00:39:11.71
Why all the fuss?
00:39:11.75\00:39:14.08
In verse 24, He says,
00:39:14.12\00:39:15.45
"The maid is not dead
but she's just sleeping."
00:39:15.48\00:39:19.92
And what do those paid
mourners do at that moment?
00:39:19.95\00:39:21.99
They're sitting, they're
crying and now what do they do?
00:39:22.02\00:39:24.73
It says they
laughed him to scorn.
00:39:24.76\00:39:26.70
They went from
crying... Ridicule.
00:39:26.73\00:39:28.53
Yeah, to ridicule.
00:39:28.56\00:39:29.90
They went from
crying to laughing.
00:39:29.93\00:39:32.73
Now this is what happens
to a lot of us Christians
00:39:32.77\00:39:35.44
who know what the
Bible teaches about death?
00:39:35.47\00:39:37.37
When we tell, we try to
teach that the Bible says
00:39:37.41\00:39:40.68
when you die you sleep.
00:39:40.71\00:39:43.41
Oftentimes we get
laughed to scorn, right?
00:39:43.45\00:39:48.18
And that this scorn is just,
00:39:48.22\00:39:50.09
it really comes right
out of the Garden of Eden
00:39:50.12\00:39:51.69
from the devil's first lie
00:39:51.72\00:39:53.25
that was really
where it all started,
00:39:53.29\00:39:55.39
where this idea that you
don't really die when you die.
00:39:55.42\00:39:57.56
Yes. Started with the devil.
00:39:57.59\00:39:59.93
He scorn God for
saying, oh, you don't,
00:39:59.96\00:40:02.13
you're not really going to die.
00:40:02.16\00:40:03.50
Not sure, not surely
die. That started in Eden.
00:40:03.53\00:40:07.44
We have a good friend by
the name of James B. Shires,
00:40:07.47\00:40:11.24
he was Pentecostal minister.
00:40:11.27\00:40:14.51
Now he's an Adventist
00:40:14.54\00:40:15.88
but bless his
heart, a beautiful guy.
00:40:15.91\00:40:18.45
He has the most
incredible testimony
00:40:18.48\00:40:20.25
I've ever heard
00:40:20.28\00:40:21.65
but his story is
that it all started,
00:40:21.68\00:40:24.29
he was listening to a preacher
00:40:24.32\00:40:25.82
who he thought was
Pentecostal on the radio
00:40:25.85\00:40:28.06
who is preaching
about when you die you go,
00:40:28.09\00:40:30.59
you sleep in a grave.
00:40:30.63\00:40:32.23
And that got him really mad.
00:40:32.26\00:40:34.63
He starts scorning the
guy, he went home and said,
00:40:34.66\00:40:36.70
I'm going to
prove that guy wrong.
00:40:36.73\00:40:38.07
I'm going to get
out my concordance,
00:40:38.10\00:40:40.44
my Bible and I'm
going to prove that guy
00:40:40.47\00:40:42.57
and I'm going to
write him a letter
00:40:42.60\00:40:43.94
and tell him to quit
preaching those lies.
00:40:43.97\00:40:45.74
And you can
imagine what happened
00:40:45.77\00:40:47.11
as he went to study this topic?
00:40:47.14\00:40:49.01
He found out that the
guy was telling the truth.
00:40:49.04\00:40:50.48
The Bible teaches that
death is indeed a sleep.
00:40:50.51\00:40:53.68
The dead don't know anything.
00:40:53.72\00:40:55.58
And so back to the story,
I like the way Mark puts it,
00:40:55.62\00:40:58.92
you know, Mark puts it
when Jesus raises the girl,
00:40:58.95\00:41:01.39
he says Talitha
koum, which is to say,
00:41:01.42\00:41:04.83
you know, damsel arise.
00:41:04.86\00:41:07.36
And then what I like most about
this is Jesus takes the girl
00:41:07.40\00:41:10.43
and present her to
the mother and the father.
00:41:10.47\00:41:13.44
And you can see the
mother and the father
00:41:13.47\00:41:14.90
going from this
absolute low of their lives
00:41:14.94\00:41:18.31
to the absolute joy of
their, the high of their lives.
00:41:18.34\00:41:21.44
That's the way I
felt when Jackson
00:41:21.48\00:41:23.91
was raised on
that operating table,
00:41:23.95\00:41:26.85
it was the
lowest point of my life
00:41:26.88\00:41:28.48
but I went from that low
point to the highest of highs.
00:41:28.52\00:41:31.45
Knowing that it was
Jesus who raised my son
00:41:31.49\00:41:35.09
and that's what Jesus did.
00:41:35.12\00:41:36.93
And then, so the
very next resurrection
00:41:36.96\00:41:39.23
is the widow of Naim's son.
00:41:39.26\00:41:40.60
You know, there's a
funeral train going.
00:41:40.63\00:41:42.46
Jesus meets the person
and He meets the funeral train
00:41:42.50\00:41:48.30
and He raises the
widow of Naim's son
00:41:48.34\00:41:51.41
and then He does the same thing.
00:41:51.44\00:41:52.77
He presents the
boy to the mother.
00:41:52.81\00:41:54.98
And so she goes from
that abject low of her life.
00:41:55.01\00:41:58.11
I mean, the sorrow
multiplied upon sorrow.
00:41:58.15\00:42:01.25
And then she goes from
that to here's your son alive
00:42:01.28\00:42:04.65
and He commanded, that's...
00:42:04.69\00:42:06.39
Can you imagine the joy
00:42:06.42\00:42:07.86
that Jesus fills and
doing something like that?
00:42:07.89\00:42:09.72
Sure. And so
that's what Jesus does?
00:42:09.76\00:42:14.26
That's what Jesus does.
00:42:14.30\00:42:15.80
He brings joy into your lives.
00:42:15.83\00:42:17.30
This is the whole idea of
this whole resurrection thing.
00:42:17.33\00:42:20.70
The very next resurrection
story in the Bible is Lazarus.
00:42:20.74\00:42:23.44
Now that's the big one.
00:42:23.47\00:42:24.81
That's the big
miracle, I think Desire of Ages,
00:42:24.84\00:42:27.28
one of my favorite books
calls the raising of Lazarus,
00:42:27.31\00:42:30.01
Christ's crowning miracle.
00:42:30.05\00:42:32.28
In other words,
it's the biggest miracle
00:42:32.31\00:42:33.85
that He did on earth.
00:42:33.88\00:42:35.58
The biggest, the
crowning miracle.
00:42:35.62\00:42:37.02
John 11, real quickly.
00:42:37.05\00:42:38.75
We won't go into it too much,
we don't have a lot of time
00:42:38.79\00:42:40.59
but when Jesus
comes finally to the tomb.
00:42:40.62\00:42:44.06
I like this part
because He comes right to the...
00:42:44.09\00:42:46.63
He doesn't waste
time and talk to people
00:42:46.66\00:42:48.76
as they're
mourning around the grave.
00:42:48.80\00:42:51.03
He just comes right there
and he says in John 11:39,
00:42:51.07\00:42:54.60
Jesus says, "Take
ye away the stone."
00:42:54.64\00:42:57.47
And Martha, sister
of Lazarus, she objects.
00:42:57.51\00:43:00.94
And what is her objection?
00:43:00.98\00:43:02.54
Well, by now
he's under the rock.
00:43:02.58\00:43:04.08
That's exactly, yeah. Yeah.
00:43:04.11\00:43:05.65
So he's been in
there four days, right?
00:43:05.68\00:43:08.72
And so by this time, he's gonna,
00:43:08.75\00:43:11.15
now there's
probably not a worse odor
00:43:11.19\00:43:13.56
on the face of the earth
00:43:13.59\00:43:15.16
than a dead decaying human body.
00:43:15.19\00:43:17.49
Being in physical therapy,
00:43:17.53\00:43:18.86
I had the blessed privilege
to take grose human anatomy
00:43:18.89\00:43:21.90
where we would
study human cadavers
00:43:21.93\00:43:24.83
in the anatomy lab.
00:43:24.87\00:43:26.57
Fifty, it's almost like 50
or 55 dead bodies in there.
00:43:26.60\00:43:30.61
And of course they're in
the formaldehyde treatment
00:43:30.64\00:43:32.81
and that's bad
enough and they warn you
00:43:32.84\00:43:34.81
as you go into class,
00:43:34.84\00:43:36.21
they say that some
of you may pass out.
00:43:36.24\00:43:38.31
You want to do
something so be careful,
00:43:38.35\00:43:40.35
and sure enough
a girl I remember
00:43:40.38\00:43:42.02
she passed out
because of the smell.
00:43:42.05\00:43:43.85
Yeah. And so
Martha rightly objects.
00:43:43.89\00:43:47.76
You know, hey,
listen Jesus, you know,
00:43:47.79\00:43:49.22
don't take that stone
away, he's been dead four days,
00:43:49.26\00:43:52.09
it's going to
really mess this place up,
00:43:52.13\00:43:53.93
it's going to smell really bad.
00:43:53.96\00:43:56.40
And so, which was, is
different than like say
00:43:56.43\00:44:00.17
Jairus' daughter and
the widow of Naim's son,
00:44:00.20\00:44:03.07
they had been dead probably
only less than a day maybe
00:44:03.10\00:44:06.07
and hadn't really
had a chance to decompose
00:44:06.11\00:44:09.04
but, so Martha objects
00:44:09.08\00:44:11.21
but in verse 40,
Jesus says to her.
00:44:11.25\00:44:13.95
He sort of
rebukes her by saying,
00:44:13.98\00:44:16.45
"Did I not say to
you..." in verse 40
00:44:16.48\00:44:19.32
and in the very next statement
I think is a statement,
00:44:19.35\00:44:23.02
a deep profound theosophical,
if that's the word,
00:44:23.06\00:44:26.49
theosophical statement
that sort of summarizes
00:44:26.53\00:44:29.50
the conversion
experience everybody must have
00:44:29.53\00:44:31.77
who comes to Christ,
00:44:31.80\00:44:33.54
"Did I not say to you
that if you would believe,
00:44:33.57\00:44:37.11
you would see the
glory of God," isn't that?
00:44:37.14\00:44:40.48
So if you would believe,
you would see the glory of God.
00:44:40.51\00:44:43.31
You know the problem with people
00:44:43.35\00:44:44.81
who don't
actually come to Christ
00:44:44.85\00:44:47.05
which is a terrible
tragedy, is that they don't,
00:44:47.08\00:44:51.45
they're not willing to believe.
00:44:51.49\00:44:53.12
The Bible says, "Taste and
see that the Lord is good."
00:44:53.15\00:44:55.22
And so God, Jesus
right here is saying,
00:44:55.26\00:44:58.16
"If you would believe,
if you would just believe,
00:44:58.19\00:45:00.33
you'd see the glory of God."
00:45:00.36\00:45:01.70
God wants to reveal His glory.
00:45:01.73\00:45:03.60
And you know, lately,
you see people like atheists,
00:45:03.63\00:45:07.80
you see evolutionists
who say that there is no God
00:45:07.84\00:45:11.07
and, you know, I was
contemplating their views,
00:45:11.11\00:45:15.04
I mean, like Richard Dawkins,
00:45:15.08\00:45:16.41
you've got Christopher Hitchens,
00:45:16.44\00:45:17.78
Sam Harris, Stephen
Hawking, all these people,
00:45:17.81\00:45:20.55
you know, brilliant
minds, of what don't they see,
00:45:20.58\00:45:24.25
I look at them so I decided
to do a little dig into this.
00:45:24.29\00:45:26.86
So I would, I read
some of their books
00:45:26.89\00:45:29.16
and some of their material,
they do a God Delusion,
00:45:29.19\00:45:31.26
all these crazy books.
00:45:31.29\00:45:32.79
What makes them
think that there is no God?
00:45:32.83\00:45:34.43
Why are they so
sure with these PhDs?
00:45:34.46\00:45:37.47
And I could not find it.
00:45:37.50\00:45:40.20
It's their rhetoric but as
you look into their substance,
00:45:40.24\00:45:43.30
I couldn't find it.
00:45:43.34\00:45:44.67
The best thing I
could come up with,
00:45:44.71\00:45:46.54
they say and specially nowadays,
00:45:46.57\00:45:47.91
this is their mantra now,
00:45:47.94\00:45:49.34
it's, well, we know
that evolution exists,
00:45:49.38\00:45:51.81
it occurred because
of DNA, the study of DNA,
00:45:51.85\00:45:55.08
because some humans,
00:45:55.12\00:45:56.92
some of the gene types
and the chromosomes in our DNA
00:45:56.95\00:45:59.95
are similar to some
other biological creatures.
00:45:59.99\00:46:02.96
And to man that's
the best you have?
00:46:02.99\00:46:05.79
Now what's funny to me is
00:46:05.83\00:46:07.16
because DNA is the study of DNA
00:46:07.20\00:46:09.80
is what brought me
out of being a doubter.
00:46:09.83\00:46:12.80
I used to doubt
the existence of God.
00:46:12.83\00:46:15.04
And it was the study of
DNA and I wasn't getting
00:46:15.07\00:46:17.67
my prerequisites
for physical therapy.
00:46:17.71\00:46:19.07
I'm in the
anatomy and physiology lab
00:46:19.11\00:46:21.54
or a lecture and
the guy's teaching
00:46:21.58\00:46:24.21
about how the cell divides
00:46:24.25\00:46:26.58
and he's talking about
how the nucleus of a cell
00:46:26.61\00:46:29.02
has a DNA molecule,
00:46:29.05\00:46:30.59
you know, the
deoxyribose and nucleic acid
00:46:30.62\00:46:32.92
is the most
complex thing in biology.
00:46:32.95\00:46:36.06
And it has the blueprint,
the genetic blueprint,
00:46:36.09\00:46:38.26
how the body is formed.
00:46:38.29\00:46:40.16
And when it
goes to the new cell,
00:46:40.20\00:46:41.83
the new cell is divided
00:46:41.86\00:46:43.20
and then as RNA
molecule takes that
00:46:43.23\00:46:45.37
genetic blueprint
and transposes, trans,
00:46:45.40\00:46:48.64
it goes across
trans, whatever you call it.
00:46:48.67\00:46:51.41
It goes... Transmigrates.
00:46:51.44\00:46:52.84
That's transmigrates. Yeah.
00:46:52.87\00:46:54.21
It deposits that
genetic information
00:46:54.24\00:46:55.91
into the DNA
molecule of the new cell.
00:46:55.94\00:46:59.21
When the guy told me
that, the lecturer told me that,
00:46:59.25\00:47:00.95
I just set my pen down
00:47:00.98\00:47:02.62
and I was no longer listening
to a lecture on cell division.
00:47:02.65\00:47:05.59
I was seeing the
existence of God.
00:47:05.62\00:47:07.49
The Holy Spirit was
right there to tell me
00:47:07.52\00:47:08.86
this is supernatural.
00:47:08.89\00:47:10.83
And so DNA is what
really got me to believe
00:47:10.86\00:47:15.03
that there is a
God and it got me.
00:47:15.06\00:47:17.37
I was sharing this in
a seminar not long ago.
00:47:17.40\00:47:19.20
This is why I
just shared with you.
00:47:19.23\00:47:21.24
The pastor stood up, he said,
that's exactly what got me.
00:47:21.27\00:47:24.87
It was the study of DNA
00:47:24.91\00:47:26.51
that took me from being a
nonbeliever to a believer.
00:47:26.54\00:47:30.45
So when an atheist says,
00:47:30.48\00:47:32.98
well, we know
that God doesn't exist
00:47:33.01\00:47:34.62
because of DNA,
00:47:34.65\00:47:37.65
that doesn't
make any sense to me,
00:47:37.69\00:47:39.02
DNA is what cinched it for me.
00:47:39.05\00:47:40.86
There's a..
That is so wonderful.
00:47:40.89\00:47:44.23
I've got a book
I'm reading called
00:47:44.26\00:47:46.56
"I don't have enough
faith to be an atheist".
00:47:46.59\00:47:48.46
Yeah, it takes a lot of faith.
00:47:48.50\00:47:49.83
Yeah, it does
take a lot of faith.
00:47:49.86\00:47:51.20
Particularly when
you begin to study
00:47:51.23\00:47:52.57
and look into the
scientific evidence
00:47:52.60\00:47:53.94
that is there to be seen
00:47:53.97\00:47:55.37
for the existence
of our creator God.
00:47:55.40\00:47:57.24
There was a book by
a notorious atheist,
00:47:57.27\00:47:59.94
maybe many of your viewers
have heard of Anthony Flew.
00:47:59.97\00:48:02.78
Anthony Flew, he
wrote a book called,
00:48:02.81\00:48:05.61
There is a God,
00:48:05.65\00:48:06.98
how the world's most notorious
atheist changed his mind.
00:48:07.02\00:48:10.22
In that book, he
cites what changed his mind
00:48:10.25\00:48:12.79
was the study of DNA.
00:48:12.82\00:48:15.62
There's got to
be a God, he said,
00:48:15.66\00:48:16.99
there has to be intelligent,
00:48:17.03\00:48:18.36
something intelligent
designed the human body.
00:48:18.39\00:48:20.90
Amen.
00:48:20.93\00:48:22.26
And so, I would say the
atheist has trouble finding God
00:48:22.30\00:48:24.57
for the same
reason, a cop, I mean,
00:48:24.60\00:48:26.84
a thief has trouble
finding a cop, right?
00:48:26.87\00:48:28.87
You don't want...
You don't want to find.
00:48:28.90\00:48:31.71
Well said.
00:48:31.74\00:48:33.07
Jeremiah, 29:13, one
of my favorite books,
00:48:33.11\00:48:36.08
verses, God tells us, he says,
00:48:36.11\00:48:37.58
you will seek Me and find Me
00:48:37.61\00:48:40.32
when you search for
Me with all your heart.
00:48:40.35\00:48:43.32
Which goes along
with what Jesus said,
00:48:43.35\00:48:45.25
if you would believe,
if you would just put your,
00:48:45.29\00:48:47.16
sets your heart to believe,
you would see the glory of God.
00:48:47.19\00:48:50.29
These atheists are really,
00:48:50.33\00:48:53.70
I mean they have the
same heart that I do.
00:48:53.73\00:48:55.86
If they would just set
their heart on believing,
00:48:55.90\00:48:57.70
they just don't want to believe.
00:48:57.73\00:48:59.07
What is
interesting the fact that
00:48:59.10\00:49:01.47
that if you find
what you're looking for,
00:49:01.50\00:49:04.47
you know, and sometimes you find
00:49:04.51\00:49:06.07
what you're not looking
for but you reinterpret it
00:49:06.11\00:49:07.88
so that it fits
the predisposition
00:49:07.91\00:49:10.95
that you came to
the start with already,
00:49:10.98\00:49:13.05
but if your eyes are
open, your heart is open
00:49:13.08\00:49:15.45
there's too much complexity,
00:49:15.48\00:49:16.95
there's too much design
00:49:16.99\00:49:18.55
for that design to come without
the preexistence of a designer.
00:49:18.59\00:49:23.46
So it really
takes much more faith
00:49:23.49\00:49:24.86
to be an atheist than
it does to be a believer.
00:49:24.89\00:49:26.96
Absolutely. Yeah.
00:49:27.00\00:49:28.63
To me that would
take a lot of faith,
00:49:28.66\00:49:30.00
but I used to be in
that boat and what it is,
00:49:30.03\00:49:32.00
is the separation
from that time with God.
00:49:32.03\00:49:34.10
You know, you have to
build on that relationship
00:49:34.14\00:49:35.80
and that relationship builds
your view of the glory of God.
00:49:35.84\00:49:40.04
It builds on that.
00:49:40.08\00:49:41.58
So I think you
would agree with that,
00:49:41.61\00:49:42.94
true science
affirms the existence of God
00:49:42.98\00:49:45.51
rather than opposes
the existence of God.
00:49:45.55\00:49:47.38
True science, I think,
00:49:47.42\00:49:48.75
you know, I look
forward to being in heaven
00:49:48.78\00:49:50.92
where we can study
00:49:50.95\00:49:52.49
what God did in
creating biological creatures.
00:49:52.52\00:49:55.89
We can study that
forever, it's an amazing thing.
00:49:55.92\00:49:59.06
I don't think we'll
ever get to the depths of
00:49:59.09\00:50:01.60
what makes us, you
know, tissue alive.
00:50:01.63\00:50:04.67
I think we accept
some of these things
00:50:04.70\00:50:08.44
and yet in our heart
of hearts if we are open,
00:50:08.47\00:50:14.64
we will discover that
God is there all the time.
00:50:14.68\00:50:18.65
You know, it's very hard
to resist the reality of God.
00:50:18.68\00:50:24.52
You know, you've got design,
you've got what they call
00:50:24.55\00:50:26.39
irreducible
complexity, certain things,
00:50:26.42\00:50:28.96
certain parts of the
body, certain structures
00:50:28.99\00:50:30.76
can't develop overtime,
00:50:30.79\00:50:32.13
they've got to come as they are,
00:50:32.16\00:50:33.66
they got to appear
as they are functioning,
00:50:33.70\00:50:35.90
and if they don't
function, they never will.
00:50:35.93\00:50:37.57
Yeah, like the
eye. Like the eye.
00:50:37.60\00:50:39.70
So many things
have to be in place.
00:50:39.73\00:50:41.07
Yeah, yeah.
00:50:41.10\00:50:43.27
So with a little
bit of time left,
00:50:43.30\00:50:45.77
the way this story
ends up as they took the way
00:50:45.81\00:50:48.61
that the Bible says,
they took the stone away
00:50:48.64\00:50:50.38
and Jesus pray to His Father
00:50:50.41\00:50:51.75
and He has a
short little prayer.
00:50:51.78\00:50:53.11
Father, I knew that You hear Me
00:50:53.15\00:50:54.48
but because the
people standing by,
00:50:54.52\00:50:57.02
I said it that they may believe.
00:50:57.05\00:50:58.82
That they may believe. Yeah.
00:50:58.85\00:51:00.19
So this is not
really for Lazarus.
00:51:00.22\00:51:02.26
This whole idea that
you sleep in the grave
00:51:02.29\00:51:05.59
until the resurrection.
00:51:05.63\00:51:06.96
Is that for the
dead people to know
00:51:07.00\00:51:08.33
or is that for us that
are alive and remain behind?
00:51:08.36\00:51:10.90
Those of us who
are alive and remain.
00:51:10.93\00:51:12.37
It's for us and why,
why is it so important
00:51:12.40\00:51:15.37
for us to know
that when you die,
00:51:15.40\00:51:17.31
you sleep in a grave?
00:51:17.34\00:51:19.01
Well, the answer is
because the devil use this
00:51:19.04\00:51:22.61
to deceive people,
to deceive the living.
00:51:22.64\00:51:25.18
And here's what the
author who wrote the book
00:51:25.21\00:51:28.08
"Last Day Events",
had wrote in page 156.
00:51:28.12\00:51:30.99
The author wrote that
the saints must understand
00:51:31.02\00:51:33.76
the state of the dead
for the spirits of devils
00:51:33.79\00:51:36.19
will yet appear to them
00:51:36.22\00:51:37.63
professing to be
beloved friends and relatives
00:51:37.66\00:51:40.30
who will declare to them
00:51:40.33\00:51:41.66
that the
Sabbath has been changed
00:51:41.70\00:51:43.13
and also other
unscriptural doctrines.
00:51:43.16\00:51:46.07
And so that's, that's
why it's so important,
00:51:46.10\00:51:48.00
not for those dead, it
doesn't matter to Lazarus
00:51:48.04\00:51:49.87
whether he's going to
go right to heaven or not.
00:51:49.90\00:51:51.31
He's not, he's sleeping
00:51:51.34\00:51:52.71
but for those of us that
remain and are left behind.
00:51:52.74\00:51:55.51
You know that we're
going to have to really
00:51:55.54\00:51:56.88
try to get you back
to do a little longer
00:51:56.91\00:51:58.65
because you've
got a lot of material,
00:51:58.68\00:52:00.12
several pages
you have not touched
00:52:00.15\00:52:01.95
but you can see where he's going
00:52:01.98\00:52:03.32
and, of course, all
of this was animated
00:52:03.35\00:52:04.95
by the truly modern day miracle
of the resurrection of His Son.
00:52:04.99\00:52:09.79
God is not subject to science,
00:52:09.82\00:52:11.76
God can supersede science
00:52:11.79\00:52:13.43
and when He does
that, we call it a miracle.
00:52:13.46\00:52:15.40
Because it doesn't line
up with what science tells us
00:52:15.43\00:52:17.73
should happen.
00:52:17.77\00:52:19.10
Should you want to get a
copy of the 7th Day Beaver's
00:52:19.13\00:52:23.61
which I've watched many times.
00:52:23.64\00:52:25.07
It's a good little
piece of documentary work
00:52:25.11\00:52:27.38
or perhaps have Larren come out
00:52:27.41\00:52:31.11
and talk with you,
speak to your group,
00:52:31.15\00:52:33.48
speak to your
church, run a seminar,
00:52:33.52\00:52:35.22
talk about some of these things.
