Family members or friends. 00:15:47.98\00:15:52.95 You need to go to a professional 00:15:52.98\00:15:54.78 because you can be led astray. 00:15:54.82\00:15:56.72 And now we're talking about women 00:15:56.75\00:15:59.99 they are or they don't have financial planning. 00:16:00.02\00:16:03.56 And let me just throw this in very quickly. 00:16:03.59\00:16:06.49 Let's say 00:16:06.53\00:16:07.86 that something happens to your husband 00:16:07.90\00:16:09.66 and he is really wealthy and he left you 00:16:09.70\00:16:12.17 a insurance policy for a million dollars. 00:16:12.20\00:16:15.10 All of a sudden you've got millions of dollars, 00:16:15.14\00:16:18.21 let's say he was worth to me. 00:16:18.24\00:16:20.11 So now you've got three million dollars 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.11 would be you're safe for life, not necessarily, 00:16:22.14\00:16:24.75 if you don't take good care of those resources, 00:16:24.78\00:16:28.68 let me tell you something, 00:16:28.72\00:16:30.05 there are some unscrupulous people out there 00:16:30.09\00:16:32.29 that will do everything 00:16:32.32\00:16:33.66 they can to take your money away from you. 00:16:33.69\00:16:35.22 So listen, be wise, 00:16:35.26\00:16:37.63 be wise in how you handle those resources 00:16:37.66\00:16:41.46 that God has given you. 00:16:41.50\00:16:43.13 Let's go on. 00:16:43.16\00:16:45.07 For that reason we have invited Barry, 00:16:45.10\00:16:49.30 Nancy and Earlenne 00:16:49.34\00:16:52.84 to help us with our... 00:16:52.87\00:16:56.04 We're going to call 00:16:56.08\00:16:57.41 this a training period here today. 00:16:57.45\00:16:58.81 I like that. That's good. 00:16:58.85\00:17:00.35 To instruct the ladies and, gentlemen, 00:17:00.38\00:17:04.02 again this program is good for you to. 00:17:04.05\00:17:06.52 What can we do to stabilize our lives? 00:17:06.55\00:17:09.49 What can we do? 00:17:09.52\00:17:10.86 Earlenne, I'm going to let you go first. 00:17:10.89\00:17:13.03 Let me go to you. 00:17:13.06\00:17:14.40 If you were counseling these ladies, 00:17:14.43\00:17:16.93 what would be the first document 00:17:16.97\00:17:19.47 that you would think 00:17:19.50\00:17:20.84 they need to write to get some stability 00:17:20.87\00:17:23.47 in their lives? 00:17:23.51\00:17:25.37 Well, 00:17:25.41\00:17:27.04 there are several that we could, could ask them 00:17:27.08\00:17:30.28 if they'd like to participate in 00:17:30.31\00:17:32.08 but the first thing I like to know is one, 00:17:32.11\00:17:35.05 are you still viewing 3ABN 00:17:35.08\00:17:38.12 and that's a very important thing, 00:17:38.15\00:17:40.82 then I want to know a little bit about them. 00:17:40.86\00:17:43.36 Once I find out a little bit about them 00:17:43.39\00:17:45.43 and their charitable intent to 3ABN. 00:17:45.46\00:17:48.50 I love to hear their stories of how they found at 3ABN 00:17:48.53\00:17:53.07 or what they've done for 3ABN and what their heart desires. 00:17:53.10\00:17:57.01 So that's very important, that also leads me 00:17:57.04\00:17:59.87 into directing them in the right direction. 00:17:59.91\00:18:02.04 And can we go to the annuities 00:18:02.08\00:18:04.55 and maybe discuss what we can do there. 00:18:04.58\00:18:06.38 Absolutely 00:18:06.41\00:18:07.75 Okay, let's go ahead and do that. 00:18:07.78\00:18:09.68 So I would like to share with them 00:18:09.72\00:18:12.25 that the annuities have some tremendous interest, 00:18:12.29\00:18:16.26 that interest can be used for a number of things 00:18:16.29\00:18:19.53 and when women call, 00:18:19.56\00:18:21.56 we like to find out what their interests are. 00:18:21.60\00:18:24.50 Now annuity is a document where you invest money. 00:18:24.53\00:18:27.17 You invest money and when you invest that money, 00:18:27.20\00:18:30.84 you are going to earn according to your age. 00:18:30.87\00:18:34.88 And age is not a problem. 00:18:34.91\00:18:36.34 This is a situation 00:18:36.38\00:18:37.71 where the older you are the better it is. 00:18:37.75\00:18:41.68 You can't find another benefit program like that. 00:18:41.72\00:18:44.39 The older you are, the better it is, 00:18:44.42\00:18:46.49 you don't get canceled, so... 00:18:46.52\00:18:49.12 Is it revocable or non revocable? 00:18:49.16\00:18:50.86 This is an irrevocable document, 00:18:50.89\00:18:52.69 very good question, Jill. 00:18:52.73\00:18:54.33 And that is a question they do ask is it, 00:18:54.36\00:18:56.87 you know, irrevocable? 00:18:56.90\00:18:58.23 Yes, it is. 00:18:58.27\00:18:59.60 So if you have some finances just lying around and women do. 00:18:59.63\00:19:05.81 I remember one time we were doing a program 00:19:05.84\00:19:08.81 and one of our trust officers said this time, 00:19:08.84\00:19:12.05 said they had a friend 00:19:12.08\00:19:13.42 who had like $89,000 in the bank 00:19:13.45\00:19:17.19 and it was drawing maybe .01% a year 00:19:17.22\00:19:22.16 and so when she and she was in her 80s 00:19:22.19\00:19:26.36 so that means 00:19:26.39\00:19:27.73 that she would have been drawing like 8%, am I close? 00:19:27.76\00:19:30.30 Sure, let me give you those figures. 00:19:30.33\00:19:32.30 If you're 84 years old, you could get 7.6%. 00:19:32.33\00:19:36.10 7.6. 00:19:36.14\00:19:37.84 As opposed to... 00:19:37.87\00:19:39.44 As opposed to next to nothing, 00:19:39.47\00:19:41.31 I had a lady call me and she said, 00:19:41.34\00:19:43.04 "I earned a quarter last month. 00:19:43.08\00:19:45.11 Can you do me any better 00:19:45.15\00:19:46.48 on some money I'd like to invest." 00:19:46.51\00:19:48.72 And so when she told me that she was 90 years old 00:19:48.75\00:19:51.99 and I said, "Yes, we can do 9% for you." 00:19:52.02\00:19:55.39 I thought she was gonna fall off the chair, 00:19:55.42\00:19:57.33 she must have been sitting at on at home. 00:19:57.36\00:19:59.96 She was so surprised, so shocked and she said, 00:20:00.00\00:20:02.33 that's what I'm doing. 00:20:02.36\00:20:03.70 I don't have to think about it any further. 00:20:03.73\00:20:05.17 I've been wanting to do something 00:20:05.20\00:20:06.53 where God and I could share this as a plan. 00:20:06.57\00:20:09.17 So in her life she's going to earn the interest, 00:20:09.20\00:20:11.97 in her death 3ABN is her beneficiary 00:20:12.01\00:20:15.81 and the person that will receive 00:20:15.84\00:20:17.71 the balance left in her account. 00:20:17.75\00:20:19.88 Praise God. 00:20:19.91\00:20:21.25 So dose 3ABN, pardon my ignorance here, 00:20:21.28\00:20:23.02 I'm a newbie. 00:20:23.05\00:20:24.39 Does 3ABN would we invest the money that comes in, 00:20:24.42\00:20:27.39 does it go into stocks, bonds, 00:20:27.42\00:20:28.99 what happens with that like if I were doing an annuity? 00:20:29.02\00:20:32.06 Yes, we do. What will happen with that? 00:20:32.09\00:20:33.43 We do invest 00:20:33.46\00:20:34.80 and with this one it's a bank in California 00:20:34.83\00:20:39.50 that does our annuities for us. 00:20:39.53\00:20:41.60 Our investments have been great, 00:20:41.64\00:20:43.14 they've worked with us a lot of years, 00:20:43.17\00:20:44.97 they know what we want to do, 00:20:45.01\00:20:47.08 they know where it's best to go. 00:20:47.11\00:20:48.44 Okay. 00:20:48.48\00:20:49.81 And, Jill, to answer this question 00:20:49.84\00:20:51.48 which is they asked often. 00:20:51.51\00:20:53.21 Do you invest in pornography? 00:20:53.25\00:20:56.32 Do you invest in alcohol, tobacco, bad things? 00:20:56.35\00:20:59.85 No, we don't. No, we're very conservative. 00:20:59.89\00:21:01.96 We're very conservative, 00:21:01.99\00:21:03.53 and God has blessed the funds for 3ABN 00:21:03.56\00:21:06.73 because we've laid it all down 00:21:06.76\00:21:09.60 and said, no, we aren't going to do that. 00:21:09.63\00:21:12.10 So an annuity is relatively easy to do, 00:21:12.13\00:21:14.80 it's our one page application. 00:21:14.84\00:21:17.51 And in a one page application 00:21:17.54\00:21:19.31 you're mainly giving us your name, 00:21:19.34\00:21:21.14 your address, your birthday, your social security number, 00:21:21.18\00:21:24.31 and who your emergency contact is. 00:21:24.35\00:21:27.58 Then you're reading the little statement 00:21:27.62\00:21:28.95 at the bottom and agreeing that you know 00:21:28.98\00:21:30.85 that it's an irrevocable document 00:21:30.89\00:21:33.05 and that when you pass away the remainder will go to 3ABN 00:21:33.09\00:21:36.79 and there aren't any other beneficiaries. 00:21:36.83\00:21:38.69 But during the period of time 00:21:38.73\00:21:42.43 when you start drawing this interest for instance 00:21:42.46\00:21:45.27 if you're 84 00:21:45.30\00:21:46.63 you'll drawl 7 point something percent. 00:21:46.67\00:21:49.54 Seven point six. 00:21:49.57\00:21:50.91 Seven point six percent 00:21:50.94\00:21:52.41 so every month, every quarter, 00:21:52.44\00:21:55.54 however you choose to receive this 00:21:55.58\00:21:59.45 your annuity interest 00:21:59.48\00:22:03.22 then it's just deposited right into your bank account 00:22:03.25\00:22:06.86 and there you got that those finances 00:22:06.89\00:22:09.19 to further the kingdom of God, 00:22:09.22\00:22:10.93 to further to help your children, 00:22:10.96\00:22:12.93 to help yourself. 00:22:12.96\00:22:14.30 And rather than that money 00:22:14.33\00:22:15.86 just sitting there dormant in a bank account, 00:22:15.90\00:22:19.00 your money needs to be working for you 00:22:19.03\00:22:21.00 and it's just sitting there lazily doing nothing 00:22:21.04\00:22:23.61 instead of working. 00:22:23.64\00:22:24.97 And let me tell you about some of the simpler things 00:22:25.01\00:22:26.41 we've been able to help people with in their lives... 00:22:26.44\00:22:29.11 Could I add something. With their interest... 00:22:29.14\00:22:30.48 Yes. Yeah, sure. 00:22:30.51\00:22:31.85 On the gift of annuity 00:22:31.88\00:22:33.21 the sum that the receipt the donor gets is guaranteed, 00:22:33.25\00:22:38.22 that 7.6% of the dollar amount have to be 00:22:38.25\00:22:41.59 is guaranteed for their life, 00:22:41.62\00:22:44.03 and secondarily they get a deduction 00:22:44.06\00:22:46.93 based on the, the gift, 00:22:46.96\00:22:49.36 the amount of the gift going in, 00:22:49.40\00:22:50.73 so there is another benefit 00:22:50.77\00:22:52.10 beside the dollars coming to you. 00:22:52.13\00:22:53.47 Like a tax deduction you mean? 00:22:53.50\00:22:54.87 Nice. Yes. 00:22:54.90\00:22:56.24 Okay, okay. 00:22:56.27\00:22:58.21 Is there a minimum amount to put in? 00:22:58.24\00:23:00.14 Do you have to put in 20,000 or what? 00:23:00.18\00:23:01.51 Yes, you have to start with 5000 for a single. 00:23:01.54\00:23:03.81 Okay. 00:23:03.85\00:23:05.18 So 5,000 for single, 00:23:05.21\00:23:06.55 10,000 for a joint 00:23:06.58\00:23:08.82 and you cannot add to an annuity. 00:23:08.85\00:23:12.72 You just buy a new one, so maybe you have 5,000 today 00:23:12.75\00:23:16.12 and next week you came up with another 5,000 00:23:16.16\00:23:18.33 because somebody left it at your doorstep. 00:23:18.36\00:23:20.10 No, you actually found it in the bank account 00:23:20.13\00:23:22.60 and you wanted to go ahead and put in, do another one, 00:23:22.63\00:23:25.53 call us up we'll do another one. 00:23:25.57\00:23:27.24 But in mean time you've gotten an older 00:23:27.27\00:23:29.24 so does your interest rate go up? 00:23:29.27\00:23:30.77 Yes, yes with every year your interest rate goes up 00:23:30.81\00:23:34.38 with the new purchase. 00:23:34.41\00:23:35.74 Okay. 00:23:35.78\00:23:37.11 It's not going to change your old one 00:23:37.15\00:23:38.81 and we've had people call and say, 00:23:38.85\00:23:40.45 "For the last five years, I've done an annuity every year 00:23:40.48\00:23:43.22 and my interest isn't the same." 00:23:43.25\00:23:44.99 And we've said, "Well, praise the Lord 00:23:45.02\00:23:46.42 you've gotten a little bit older, 00:23:46.45\00:23:47.79 he's given you some more time 00:23:47.82\00:23:49.16 and so this year you had more income 00:23:49.19\00:23:51.33 than you did last year." 00:23:51.36\00:23:52.69 So that's always a pleasant surprise. 00:23:52.73\00:23:54.93 I'd like to run down through it again 00:23:54.96\00:23:56.70 that the charitable gift annuity 00:23:56.73\00:23:58.27 is an irrevocable document, 00:23:58.30\00:24:01.30 fixed interest payments for your life 00:24:01.34\00:24:03.61 like Barry has added here. 00:24:03.64\00:24:05.31 That's great. 00:24:05.34\00:24:06.68 You may not add funds but you can buy a new one, 00:24:06.71\00:24:09.71 you may not withdraw funds. 00:24:09.74\00:24:11.81 That's what irrevocable means. 00:24:11.85\00:24:13.18 And we'll be talking about another document where you can, 00:24:13.21\00:24:16.32 but this one is irrevocable and there are tax benefits. 00:24:16.35\00:24:21.56 And 3ABN is the exclusive beneficiary. 00:24:21.59\00:24:24.66 Now when I get people on the phone, 00:24:24.69\00:24:26.03 you ask some of the questions 00:24:26.06\00:24:27.40 that I ask them and some of the things 00:24:27.43\00:24:28.76 I'd like to do is to find out 00:24:28.80\00:24:31.83 what they really would like to use 00:24:31.87\00:24:33.54 this extra money for? 00:24:33.57\00:24:35.40 Oftentimes it is they want to just give a monthly gift, 00:24:35.44\00:24:40.41 so we set it up in accounting 00:24:40.44\00:24:42.48 where they can give a monthly gift to 3ABN 00:24:42.51\00:24:46.15 of, of this interest 00:24:46.18\00:24:47.55 so they invested the money 00:24:47.58\00:24:49.55 and we constantly let the interest coming in. 00:24:49.58\00:24:52.45 What a generous person. 00:24:52.49\00:24:54.76 I also want to add that annuity interest income 00:24:54.79\00:24:57.86 could be just enough money to pay your, 00:24:57.89\00:25:01.46 your supplemental insurance when you retire. 00:25:01.50\00:25:04.47 Nice, yes. 00:25:04.50\00:25:05.83 And, you know, maybe this 00:25:05.87\00:25:07.20 just that little bit would be enough 00:25:07.24\00:25:08.57 now you get Medicare and Medicaid. 00:25:08.60\00:25:09.94 Right. 00:25:09.97\00:25:11.31 But your husband even helped you set this up. 00:25:11.34\00:25:13.07 He left that knowing you 00:25:13.11\00:25:14.44 would need to pay a supplemental. 00:25:14.48\00:25:16.44 So that's another thing to think ahead, 00:25:16.48\00:25:18.65 always think ahead. 00:25:18.68\00:25:20.82 How about the water bill and the electric bill? 00:25:20.85\00:25:23.39 It goes up a little more in the summer time 00:25:23.42\00:25:25.92 and I just can't quite meet it. 00:25:25.95\00:25:28.06 There you go. 00:25:28.09\00:25:29.42 You've got that money coming in. 00:25:29.46\00:25:31.19 How about supplemental education, 00:25:31.23\00:25:33.73 supplementing education for your grandchildren? 00:25:33.76\00:25:36.26 Yes. 00:25:36.30\00:25:37.63 We can send it to the academy or grade school of your choice. 00:25:37.67\00:25:40.74 So when you set up that interest, 00:25:40.77\00:25:42.47 we can make sure it goes to where you've designated. 00:25:42.50\00:25:46.37 We've had a couple of interesting 00:25:46.41\00:25:47.88 ones here recently 00:25:47.91\00:25:49.51 and that is I use that money every month 00:25:49.54\00:25:52.98 to pay my co-pay on my medications. 00:25:53.01\00:25:56.48 So to of the older woman who may be, 00:25:56.52\00:25:58.62 you know, needs that extra money, 00:25:58.65\00:26:00.56 there's another benefit right there. 00:26:00.59\00:26:03.06 Always think about emergencies, plan for the unexpected 00:26:03.09\00:26:06.96 because it just may be that that would help you out. 00:26:07.00\00:26:10.57 And automatic donations I think we've mentioned that 00:26:10.60\00:26:15.10 that we can take those out each month for you. 00:26:15.14\00:26:18.81 And so that's with annuities, and remember, 00:26:18.84\00:26:21.28 annuities are irrevocably, 00:26:21.31\00:26:25.15 but now let's say we have somebody that says, 00:26:25.18\00:26:29.58 "I don't want to put something in an irrevocable document." 00:26:29.62\00:26:34.06 I want to have my money 00:26:34.09\00:26:35.76 to where although I'm investing it 00:26:35.79\00:26:38.16 and I'm drawing an interest rate 00:26:38.19\00:26:39.63 maybe not quite as high, 00:26:39.66\00:26:41.43 but I want to be able to get that money if I need it. 00:26:41.46\00:26:44.07 Nancy, can you speak to that? 00:26:44.10\00:26:45.80 Yes, in fact my husband 00:26:45.83\00:26:47.17 and I just started one of these. 00:26:47.20\00:26:48.54 All right. 00:26:48.57\00:26:49.90 That's a revocable cash trust and it is nice in that, 00:26:49.94\00:26:55.21 you can, you can withdraw it if you need it, 00:26:55.24\00:26:58.58 you know, you can add to it so as the years go on you can, 00:26:58.61\00:27:02.55 you can add any amount to it to build up your principal. 00:27:02.58\00:27:06.12 You can let your interest accrue 00:27:06.15\00:27:09.19 and build up the principal 00:27:09.22\00:27:10.56 or you can get a quarterly payment. 00:27:10.59\00:27:12.86 We generally say, 00:27:12.89\00:27:14.23 if it's funded with the 50,000 or more, 00:27:14.26\00:27:16.53 you get a monthly interest payment. 00:27:16.56\00:27:18.77 The interest rate is 00:27:18.80\00:27:20.14 sometimes equal to the charitable gift annuity 00:27:20.17\00:27:23.61 for someone my age, 00:27:23.64\00:27:25.61 if you're in your 60s it's we... 00:27:25.64\00:27:29.14 The charitable gift annuities are generally around 4%, 4.5% 00:27:29.18\00:27:33.28 and are charitable are... 00:27:33.31\00:27:35.18 Sorry, our cash trust interest varies between 4 and 5% yearly. 00:27:35.22\00:27:40.22 So it's a nice interest rate 00:27:40.26\00:27:41.72 something that you don't find very many places if any. 00:27:41.76\00:27:45.76 And another thing that Nancy and I do is 00:27:45.79\00:27:47.96 we're careful to calculate for them, 00:27:48.00\00:27:50.43 so that we can tell them you're still better off 00:27:50.47\00:27:52.97 with a cash trust which is revocable 00:27:53.00\00:27:55.60 or if you needed emergency money, 00:27:55.64\00:27:57.74 because you aren't far enough in up in age 00:27:57.77\00:28:00.91 to qualify for one that's, that's higher 00:28:00.94\00:28:03.88 than what you're going to earn in that cash trust. 00:28:03.91\00:28:06.65 So for someone my age, 00:28:06.68\00:28:08.18 you would say instead of doing an annuity 00:28:08.22\00:28:10.55 you would recommend I should do a cash trust. 00:28:10.59\00:28:12.99 Yes, in fact, you're not old enough to do an annuity. 00:28:13.02\00:28:15.09 How old you have to be to do an annuity? 00:28:15.12\00:28:17.29 Starting at 68 gets close to the same number, 00:28:17.33\00:28:20.36 65 is the preferred. 00:28:20.40\00:28:22.00 Okay. 00:28:22.03\00:28:23.37 But as we're talking about people 00:28:23.40\00:28:25.50 or women in particular who lose their spouses 00:28:25.53\00:28:29.17 either through divorce or death. 00:28:29.20\00:28:31.34 We've got some veteran situations, 00:28:31.37\00:28:33.74 these people are a lot younger 00:28:33.78\00:28:36.61 but it's not that we don't have anything for you 00:28:36.64\00:28:38.65 and it's not that you can't, you know, have a plan with God. 00:28:38.68\00:28:42.08 Both of these plans are plans with God 00:28:42.12\00:28:44.72 and some you have the opportunity 00:28:44.75\00:28:47.06 like what you're saying 00:28:47.09\00:28:48.56 who can they name as beneficiaries? 00:28:48.59\00:28:50.33 Yeah, I was going to bring that up 00:28:50.36\00:28:52.63 and this particular one, 00:28:52.66\00:28:54.23 especially when you're young, you might have children 00:28:54.26\00:28:56.46 or, you know, siblings 00:28:56.50\00:28:58.97 that if you were to pass away while you had this, 00:28:59.00\00:29:01.27 you list who your beneficiaries are 00:29:01.30\00:29:04.61 and we ask that you list 3ABN as one of the beneficiaries 00:29:04.64\00:29:07.38 at a minimum of 25% 00:29:07.41\00:29:09.54 but the other 75 you can leave to other ministries, 00:29:09.58\00:29:12.45 but you can include your family in that 00:29:12.48\00:29:14.55 and so a lot of the... 00:29:14.58\00:29:15.92 Yeah, lot of young people, well, it's young 60 year olds. 00:29:15.95\00:29:19.65 You know they name their children 00:29:19.69\00:29:21.16 as beneficiaries. 00:29:21.19\00:29:23.06 Some of them will specifically even say, 00:29:23.09\00:29:25.76 if my, my daughter passes away 00:29:25.79\00:29:28.06 I want to go to fund Christian education 00:29:28.10\00:29:31.40 for my grandchildren. 00:29:31.43\00:29:32.83 So we can write that into the benefit, 00:29:32.87\00:29:34.80 you know, into the trust as well for the... 00:29:34.84\00:29:36.24 as a beneficiary. 00:29:36.27\00:29:37.61 Something I've always appreciated about 3ABN is 00:29:37.64\00:29:40.24 just the way we do business 00:29:40.28\00:29:44.61 is we always encourage people remember your children. 00:29:44.65\00:29:47.38 Yes. 00:29:47.42\00:29:48.75 Always take care of your family first. 00:29:48.78\00:29:50.75 Now we're calling this a cash trust, 00:29:50.79\00:29:53.46 I think it's also called A Revocable Living Trust 00:29:53.49\00:29:57.73 or A Family Living Trust 00:29:57.76\00:30:00.33 and it also includes property, doesn't it Barry? 00:30:00.36\00:30:04.47 Yes, and hopefully for the Revocable Living Trust 00:30:04.50\00:30:08.00 the value of it is that if you have 00:30:08.04\00:30:10.34 all of your assets in the trust, 00:30:10.37\00:30:12.74 then at the death of one of the spouses 00:30:12.77\00:30:16.18 everything just flows immediately to the other, 00:30:16.21\00:30:18.98 they're fully in charge, absolute totally in charge, 00:30:19.01\00:30:22.68 and so there is no probate process, 00:30:22.72\00:30:24.95 if the death of the first there will... 00:30:24.99\00:30:26.99 If everything is in the trust 00:30:27.02\00:30:28.36 there will be no probate process, 00:30:28.39\00:30:29.86 no court procedure at the death of the allies to them. 00:30:29.89\00:30:33.36 And that is the beauty of the Revocable Living Trust. 00:30:33.40\00:30:36.63 So if the husband and wife have it jointly 00:30:36.67\00:30:40.70 and one passes 00:30:40.74\00:30:42.07 then there is no hiccups at all, 00:30:42.10\00:30:44.74 it just goes to the next. 00:30:44.77\00:30:46.11 And there's no cost 00:30:46.14\00:30:47.48 because you're not going to court, 00:30:47.51\00:30:48.84 you're not going to probate, 00:30:48.88\00:30:50.21 and that can get very expensive. 00:30:50.25\00:30:52.68 Yes. Yes. 00:30:52.71\00:30:54.05 As Barry can tell us that can get very expensive 00:30:54.08\00:30:56.79 and that money is coming right off the top, 00:30:56.82\00:30:59.22 and so if you're a beneficiary 00:30:59.25\00:31:01.36 it's going to cut down what you're getting. 00:31:01.39\00:31:03.39 And it's time consuming too. Oh, very consuming. 00:31:03.43\00:31:05.46 And also if you need to... 00:31:05.49\00:31:07.70 If you need access to your money right away 00:31:07.73\00:31:09.63 sometimes it's tied up, you can't. 00:31:09.66\00:31:11.47 Well, I wanted to say that through the years 00:31:11.50\00:31:13.90 Hal and I have been able to put small amounts of money 00:31:13.94\00:31:18.11 into this Revocable Living Trust 00:31:18.14\00:31:23.24 and I recall a time 00:31:23.28\00:31:25.41 when I got a phone call from someone saying, 00:31:25.45\00:31:27.75 "I've got to have money, 00:31:27.78\00:31:29.12 could you overnight me some money." 00:31:29.15\00:31:31.12 And all I had to do was call across the street 00:31:31.15\00:31:34.96 to the Planned Giving and Trust Services department 00:31:34.99\00:31:37.76 and say, "I've got an emergency in my family." 00:31:37.79\00:31:40.40 And really I didn't have to explain what I was doing, 00:31:40.43\00:31:44.53 just tell him I need the money 00:31:44.57\00:31:46.13 and, you know, I got that money overnighted. 00:31:46.17\00:31:50.44 It's that quick, they are quick to it 00:31:50.47\00:31:53.01 because it's your money and if you need it, 00:31:53.04\00:31:57.71 it gives you easy access to it. 00:31:57.75\00:31:59.81 Now that's not what we want, 00:31:59.85\00:32:02.08 we want to for the money to grow 00:32:02.12\00:32:04.69 and be there for us when we have to, 00:32:04.72\00:32:06.72 when we're in a way, 00:32:06.76\00:32:08.09 when we no longer have learning abilities 00:32:08.12\00:32:11.33 like we do today. 00:32:11.36\00:32:12.69 And so, but, that was a beauty to me in that 00:32:12.73\00:32:16.90 there was no hassle and it was handled quickly 00:32:16.93\00:32:19.57 and very professionally. 00:32:19.60\00:32:20.94 Normally we do 24 to 48 hours is our turnaround time. 00:32:20.97\00:32:24.34 Now I will explain if it comes on a weekend 00:32:24.37\00:32:27.78 then our staff of course is not here on the weekend 00:32:27.81\00:32:30.58 but Monday morning we'll catch it right away, 00:32:30.61\00:32:32.65 even if it comes in on a fax machine or an e-mail, 00:32:32.68\00:32:35.62 we'll get it taken care of. 00:32:35.65\00:32:37.79 You know what's amazing about this 00:32:37.82\00:32:39.15 is that your money is going to minister 00:32:39.19\00:32:42.16 and bless people all over the world, 00:32:42.19\00:32:44.23 you know, I think about the message of 3ABN 00:32:44.26\00:32:47.80 and the gospel message, 00:32:47.83\00:32:49.16 the undiluted Three Angles' Messages 00:32:49.20\00:32:51.47 and as it goes around the world 00:32:51.50\00:32:52.90 and when you put money in with 3ABN, 00:32:52.93\00:32:56.17 whether it's a cash trust or an annuity 00:32:56.20\00:32:58.67 that that money is going to further the gospel 00:32:58.71\00:33:01.01 and it's blessing you, 00:33:01.04\00:33:03.08 so to me that's a win-win situation 00:33:03.11\00:33:05.65 and just think someone my age could get 4.5% 00:33:05.68\00:33:09.72 I mean that's almost unheard of, 00:33:09.75\00:33:11.22 so that's incredible. 00:33:11.25\00:33:12.59 Does that percentage go up and down 00:33:12.62\00:33:14.36 based on the market. 00:33:14.39\00:33:15.72 I know you said attorney Benton that the annuity is fixed. 00:33:15.76\00:33:18.19 But with the percentage with the cash trust, 00:33:18.23\00:33:21.20 does that writhe with the market? 00:33:21.23\00:33:22.56 And let me explain a little on that too 00:33:22.60\00:33:24.87 is that fluctuates by the month. 00:33:24.90\00:33:28.37 We're quoting an annual percentage rate. 00:33:28.40\00:33:31.31 How do you come up with an annual percentage rate? 00:33:31.34\00:33:33.74 You take 12 months of interest, you add it up, 00:33:33.78\00:33:36.98 you divide it by 12 and now you have the... 00:33:37.01\00:33:39.68 That's your average. 00:33:39.71\00:33:41.05 Yes, the annual percentage rate comes out. 00:33:41.08\00:33:43.45 So if you're thinking a check is going to always be 4.2% 00:33:43.49\00:33:46.76 it's not one month it will be 1.3 00:33:46.79\00:33:51.26 another one could be 2.6 it could then jump to 4.2 00:33:51.29\00:33:55.46 and back down to 1.4. 00:33:55.50\00:33:57.33 And I remember one December when it was 9 point something. 00:33:57.37\00:34:00.40 Yes, yes. 00:34:00.44\00:34:01.77 And we had phone calls people calling us saying, 00:34:01.80\00:34:04.77 "We think you made a mistake our check is almost double, 00:34:04.81\00:34:07.74 that was such a lovely Christmas surprise." 00:34:07.78\00:34:10.48 I remember back when, 00:34:10.51\00:34:12.35 remember when the market really took a nosedive 00:34:12.38\00:34:15.48 and so many people got in really bad financial straits 00:34:15.52\00:34:19.69 and during that time 00:34:19.72\00:34:21.06 because we are conservative in our investing, we maintained 00:34:21.09\00:34:26.09 and our people didn't lose any money. 00:34:26.13\00:34:28.16 We can honestly say that, I can still say that. 00:34:28.20\00:34:30.63 Yes, yes. 00:34:30.67\00:34:32.00 So they're not in high risk investments then, 00:34:32.03\00:34:33.80 would that be accurate? 00:34:33.84\00:34:35.17 Mm-hmm. Go ahead. 00:39:12.15\00:39:13.48 There's a $10,000 minimum 00:39:13.52\00:39:15.42 if yours just having a single account, 00:39:15.45\00:39:17.62 if it's a joint account then it's a $20,000 minimum. 00:39:17.65\00:39:23.02 You can add any amount you want to, 00:39:23.06\00:39:24.83 and once you have it set up, 00:39:24.86\00:39:26.63 that's the minimum you can put in, 00:39:26.66\00:39:29.00 you can put in a lot more too but you can, you know, 00:39:29.03\00:39:32.40 after that you can put in a $100, 00:39:32.43\00:39:34.27 you can put in a $1000. 00:39:34.30\00:39:36.64 We had a lady that needed hearing aids 00:39:36.67\00:39:38.61 and she needed them right away 00:39:38.64\00:39:40.51 and I never put away $3000, $4000 for hearing aids 00:39:40.54\00:39:44.68 so she borrowed it 00:39:44.71\00:39:46.05 and then she slowly paid back until she put it all back in, 00:39:46.08\00:39:49.42 and that's when she learned that she could put money in 00:39:49.45\00:39:51.69 so she keeps giving us more so that does happen. 00:39:51.72\00:39:56.12 Well, we've got other instruments 00:39:56.16\00:39:57.79 we wanted to look at and one is a will. 00:39:57.83\00:40:00.03 Nancy, were you going to talk about Wills? 00:40:00.06\00:40:02.50 Yes, if you have property then a trust is the way to go, 00:40:02.53\00:40:06.77 but if you don't have property, if you have cash 00:40:06.80\00:40:09.94 maybe a couple of different checking accounts 00:40:09.97\00:40:11.94 or savings accounts and, 00:40:11.97\00:40:13.61 and you want to even retirement accounts 00:40:13.64\00:40:18.25 whatever then, then a will is proper in that, 00:40:18.28\00:40:22.08 you can list who you want your beneficiaries to be and, 00:40:22.12\00:40:25.55 but the one thing about a will 00:40:25.59\00:40:26.92 as Mr. Barry Benton said it's gonna go through probate, 00:40:26.96\00:40:31.29 so if you have any property at all 00:40:31.33\00:40:34.26 then we say the trust 00:40:34.30\00:40:35.63 that does not have to go through probate 00:40:35.66\00:40:37.17 but Wills are nice just 00:40:37.20\00:40:38.67 because you can list your beneficiaries 00:40:38.70\00:40:40.44 and it's taken care of that way, 00:40:40.47\00:40:42.90 but you do have to name an executor 00:40:42.94\00:40:44.97 and the executor has to take it through the court system. 00:40:45.01\00:40:48.44 But if you don't have any property 00:40:48.48\00:40:50.15 and you have lots of things you want to list specifically, 00:40:50.18\00:40:52.71 go to certain people or percentages 00:40:52.75\00:40:54.65 go to certain people 00:40:54.68\00:40:56.02 then the will is what you'd need. 00:40:56.05\00:40:57.49 And we want to bring out too, Nancy, 00:40:57.52\00:40:59.89 that when people are doing these, 00:40:59.92\00:41:03.59 they need to keep us posted on when their children move... 00:41:03.63\00:41:07.86 Yes. 00:41:07.90\00:41:09.23 And where they've gone to 00:41:09.26\00:41:10.60 and their phone numbers and new addresses, 00:41:10.63\00:41:12.63 but kids you need to tell us also 00:41:12.67\00:41:15.54 where did you put mom and dad? 00:41:15.57\00:41:17.14 Did you put them in retirement living? 00:41:17.17\00:41:18.74 Did you put them in a nursing home? 00:41:18.77\00:41:21.14 We need to know these things 00:41:21.18\00:41:22.91 otherwise we can't sell your plan at all, 00:41:22.94\00:41:25.35 we're stuck until we can get more information. 00:41:25.38\00:41:28.78 And it's wonderful we do send out wallet cards 00:41:28.82\00:41:32.32 and keep those in your wallets 00:41:32.35\00:41:34.29 and that is something that says, 00:41:34.32\00:41:36.26 "When I pass away 00:41:36.29\00:41:37.96 please contact Three Angles Broadcasting 00:41:37.99\00:41:40.40 because I have a document with them." 00:41:40.43\00:41:42.36 So then we are able to take care 00:41:42.40\00:41:44.20 of your closing of your trust 00:41:44.23\00:41:47.54 and also your charitable intent to the Lord's work. 00:41:47.57\00:41:50.71 If we have to lace 00:41:50.74\00:41:52.41 and we don't get that right away 00:41:52.44\00:41:54.14 then the money doesn't get here for the ministry. 00:41:54.18\00:41:57.85 And now you're going to tell me what a POD is? 00:41:57.88\00:42:02.95 The POD, okay. 00:42:02.98\00:42:05.45 A POD. 00:42:05.49\00:42:07.29 A POD, okay, we have fun with this one 00:42:07.32\00:42:09.32 because we tell people, 00:42:09.36\00:42:10.93 you'll need to go to your bank and get a POD, okay, 00:42:10.96\00:42:14.16 I'll go to my bank and I'll get a POD. 00:42:14.20\00:42:16.06 They get there and the cashier says, 00:42:16.10\00:42:17.90 "A POD, I don't know anything about POD." 00:42:17.93\00:42:22.50 Well, then just tell him we would like to have the form 00:42:22.54\00:42:25.67 to fill out that when we die 00:42:25.71\00:42:27.48 any money that we have here in your bank 00:42:27.51\00:42:30.51 who we're going to give it to, 00:42:30.55\00:42:31.88 we're not going to leave it for you, sorry, 00:42:31.91\00:42:33.62 but we're not going leave it for you, 00:42:33.65\00:42:34.98 we have intent 00:42:35.02\00:42:36.35 so we need to put that down somewhere. 00:42:36.38\00:42:38.49 Many, many people have no idea 00:42:38.52\00:42:41.69 who they assigned their money in the bank to when they die. 00:42:41.72\00:42:46.83 Some say, "I think I did that, 00:42:46.86\00:42:49.23 I don't know who's going to get it." 00:42:49.26\00:42:51.53 Stay current and if you want us to be the ones to help you 00:42:51.57\00:42:54.27 stay current, 00:42:54.30\00:42:55.64 we'll be happy to do that for you 00:42:55.67\00:42:57.01 but we need your first pay on death, POD. 00:42:57.04\00:43:02.04 It seems to me like every one of us 00:43:02.08\00:43:04.58 ought to have that in place. 00:43:04.61\00:43:05.95 Yes. Oh, yes. 00:43:05.98\00:43:07.32 And yet so many don't. 00:43:07.35\00:43:08.68 I went into the bank 00:43:08.72\00:43:10.05 after I started learning all this 00:43:10.09\00:43:11.95 and I did ask, I said, if we, 00:43:11.99\00:43:13.82 if my husband and I passed away, 00:43:13.86\00:43:15.82 where does the money go? 00:43:15.86\00:43:17.19 And she said, "Oh, it goes into your estate." 00:43:17.23\00:43:19.63 And I said, "Will, my daughter get it?" 00:43:19.66\00:43:22.93 You know, "No it goes into your estate." 00:43:22.96\00:43:26.17 So would that mean that they have to, 00:43:26.20\00:43:28.30 she'd have to take it to court to get the money? 00:43:28.34\00:43:30.17 The Probate Court that's, yes. 00:43:30.21\00:43:32.27 But if Nancy put down that her daughter got it 00:43:32.31\00:43:36.34 then you would have to let your daughter know 00:43:36.38\00:43:38.08 I'm assuming... 00:43:38.11\00:43:39.45 Yes. 00:43:39.48\00:43:40.82 But then all Kelly would have to do 00:43:40.85\00:43:42.98 is go to the bank and withdraw the money, 00:43:43.02\00:43:45.32 because it's hers. 00:43:45.35\00:43:46.69 It would be pay on death to her. 00:43:46.72\00:43:48.32 Okay, those gave POD... 00:43:48.36\00:43:49.69 And we've got several open accounts right now 00:43:49.72\00:43:51.63 where people didn't do it 00:43:51.66\00:43:53.96 or they move their bank account to a new bank 00:43:54.00\00:43:57.17 they always thought they have it, 00:43:57.20\00:43:58.87 a POD doesn't travel with you, 00:43:58.90\00:44:00.84 that's to the bank where you had your money 00:44:00.87\00:44:02.74 and then you move it somewhere else 00:44:02.77\00:44:04.21 or you move out of town go to a new bank 00:44:04.24\00:44:06.21 go immediately and do a pay on death. 00:44:06.24\00:44:08.94 So that pay on death 00:44:08.98\00:44:10.31 should be in place for everybody, 00:44:10.35\00:44:11.71 it doesn't matter what your age is. 00:44:11.75\00:44:13.08 That's right. 00:44:13.11\00:44:14.45 That sounds like a wise thing to do. 00:44:14.48\00:44:15.82 Well, we need now to learn how to develop the documents. 00:44:15.85\00:44:19.69 We've learned what's the documents are, 00:44:19.72\00:44:21.59 we looked at annuities, we looked at trusts, 00:44:21.62\00:44:25.79 we looked at Wills, 00:44:25.83\00:44:28.40 and we told you what to do about that POD. 00:44:28.43\00:44:31.37 Now, how do we develop those documents? 00:44:31.40\00:44:35.07 Okay, what we do is when you call in 00:44:35.10\00:44:37.54 the first thing we do is ask you questions, 00:44:37.57\00:44:39.67 your date of birth is very important 00:44:39.71\00:44:42.24 because that is a vital part of this. 00:44:42.28\00:44:45.18 We also need your social security number, 00:44:45.21\00:44:47.42 the reason being that when you earn interest 00:44:47.45\00:44:51.02 that needs to be reported on your taxes, 00:44:51.05\00:44:53.82 so we will send you your tax forms every year, 00:44:53.86\00:44:56.76 so we do need those. 00:44:56.79\00:44:58.23 Also we will go through an application 00:44:58.26\00:45:01.76 with each person, 00:45:01.80\00:45:03.80 we will carefully help you fill out all the pages. 00:45:03.83\00:45:08.04 There's about seven or eight pages 00:45:08.07\00:45:10.14 whether it's a cash or property that you'll be filling out. 00:45:10.17\00:45:14.68 Talking about the trust. 00:45:14.71\00:45:16.18 Yes, the applications will be filled out. 00:45:16.21\00:45:18.31 The other name for an application 00:45:18.35\00:45:19.78 is the attorney's worksheet. 00:45:19.81\00:45:21.42 Okay. 00:45:21.45\00:45:22.78 So we're getting all the information together 00:45:22.82\00:45:25.19 and then the attorney is going to build that document 00:45:25.22\00:45:27.69 that looks good, reads great, 00:45:27.72\00:45:29.89 and then you're going to sign it, yes. 00:45:29.92\00:45:32.26 So you fill out all of that information 00:45:32.29\00:45:35.83 and then you send it to our attorney. 00:45:35.86\00:45:38.80 Yes. 00:45:38.83\00:45:40.17 We help them through it 00:45:40.20\00:45:41.54 and what we do is we mail them a packet first 00:45:41.57\00:45:44.14 and then we're on the phone, 00:45:44.17\00:45:45.74 and if they aren't sure what needs to go there 00:45:45.77\00:45:47.94 we help them understand 00:45:47.98\00:45:50.18 what needs to be filled in there. 00:45:50.21\00:45:51.95 Okay, so the filled out application 00:45:51.98\00:45:55.42 or the filled out document is submitted to 3ABN's attorney 00:45:55.45\00:45:59.15 whether it be Barry Benton or Wesley Westfall, 00:45:59.19\00:46:02.39 we send those documents. 00:46:02.42\00:46:03.99 Now, when those documents are sent to our attorneys. 00:46:04.03\00:46:09.20 Barry, whose attorney are you at that time 00:46:09.23\00:46:13.44 when you receive that document? 00:46:13.47\00:46:14.97 Who are you working for? 00:46:15.00\00:46:17.67 Well, actually I'm working for both. 00:46:17.71\00:46:19.41 Okay. 00:46:19.44\00:46:20.78 And has to be explained 00:46:20.81\00:46:22.24 that particularly with husbands and wives for example 00:46:22.28\00:46:25.11 that they can have their own attorney 00:46:25.15\00:46:27.12 should they decide to do that, 00:46:27.15\00:46:28.48 so everybody should have the right 00:46:28.52\00:46:30.45 to consult another attorney 00:46:30.49\00:46:32.15 that is not the attorney for 3ABN for example. 00:46:32.19\00:46:36.52 I'd like to add something to all of this. 00:46:36.56\00:46:38.06 Yes. 00:46:38.09\00:46:39.43 The motivation to get started mostly come from you ladies, 00:46:39.46\00:46:42.56 it's not from the man. 00:46:42.60\00:46:43.93 I would say 75 to 90% of all the estate plans, 00:46:43.97\00:46:47.54 all of the energy, the motivation come from women, 00:46:47.57\00:46:51.77 because you tend to be more security oriented 00:46:51.81\00:46:54.18 than us fellows. 00:46:54.21\00:46:55.54 You guys are always faster than we are. 00:46:55.58\00:46:57.35 When I was a kid, 00:46:57.38\00:46:58.71 the girls were always fastest in the class 00:46:58.75\00:47:00.65 and, you know, law school now there's... 00:47:00.68\00:47:02.78 Most law schools have, 00:47:02.82\00:47:04.22 more than 30% of the law students are women. 00:47:04.25\00:47:07.36 I didn't know that. 00:47:07.39\00:47:08.72 And so we... 00:47:08.76\00:47:10.26 This country has changed and I would say 00:47:10.29\00:47:12.53 that you women 00:47:12.56\00:47:14.16 need to take some of these thoughts 00:47:14.20\00:47:16.03 and decide yourself what works for you 00:47:16.06\00:47:18.47 but to have a plan 00:47:18.50\00:47:20.57 because if you don't have a plan 00:47:20.60\00:47:22.77 your security and the security of your loved ones, 00:47:22.80\00:47:25.74 your children are in jeopardy. 00:47:25.77\00:47:27.91 Yes. 00:47:27.94\00:47:29.28 And it is so important that we figure these things out 00:47:29.31\00:47:31.95 because it's not Star Wars, 00:47:31.98\00:47:34.62 this is not, you can understand these, 00:47:34.65\00:47:36.42 these things are all easy to understand. 00:47:36.45\00:47:38.75 The documents are easy to understand, 00:47:38.79\00:47:40.79 and I would like to add something to this 00:47:40.82\00:47:43.49 in addition to these documents we've talked about, 00:47:43.53\00:47:46.29 now, we're going to talk about the power of attorney 00:47:46.33\00:47:48.80 for business purposes and the healthcare powers 00:47:48.83\00:47:51.77 is that would you like to be, 00:47:51.80\00:47:53.13 you know, something about that? 00:47:53.17\00:47:54.50 Sure, go ahead. 00:47:54.54\00:47:56.71 For business purposes, 00:47:56.74\00:47:58.07 for example my mother-in-law 91 years old, 00:47:58.11\00:48:01.51 91 years of age next month 00:48:01.54\00:48:04.18 and she has the onset of Alzheimer's 00:48:04.21\00:48:07.65 so she has given a power of attorney 00:48:07.68\00:48:10.99 for business purposes to my sister-in-law 00:48:11.02\00:48:14.66 for her to handle the business for her. 00:48:14.69\00:48:16.39 Okay. 00:48:16.42\00:48:17.76 And my wife has since she's a nurse 00:48:17.79\00:48:19.63 she has the healthcare power so even if you're disabled, 00:48:19.66\00:48:23.70 there are documents that you can use 00:48:23.73\00:48:25.63 that conduct your business for you should 00:48:25.67\00:48:27.40 you not be able to conduct it for yourself. 00:48:27.44\00:48:30.27 Yes. 00:48:30.31\00:48:31.64 And so with the Will and the Revocable Living Trust 00:48:31.67\00:48:35.21 and virtually every case we handle we recommend 00:48:35.24\00:48:38.51 that you have a business power of attorney 00:48:38.55\00:48:41.28 to handle your business should you either 00:48:41.32\00:48:43.32 have the onset of a mental disability 00:48:43.35\00:48:46.65 or the children is not present. 00:48:46.69\00:48:49.22 So that takes care of the business persons 00:48:49.26\00:48:51.43 and then you have a healthcare power 00:48:51.46\00:48:53.43 that makes the healthcare decisions 00:48:53.46\00:48:55.73 for you should you not be able to make them for yourself. 00:48:55.76\00:48:59.03 Okay, that's very good counsel, good information to know. 00:48:59.07\00:49:03.14 And I will add to that there when they call into our office 00:49:03.17\00:49:07.94 we have strict confidentiality. 00:49:07.98\00:49:10.71 Amen, yes. 00:49:10.75\00:49:12.08 We are not going to release information to anybody 00:49:12.11\00:49:15.08 that you didn't want it to go to. 00:49:15.12\00:49:17.02 So if you want your child to know about things 00:49:17.05\00:49:20.79 when you're older definitely, 00:49:20.82\00:49:23.49 definitely list them as your power of attorney 00:49:23.53\00:49:26.16 so that when they call in we'll say, 00:49:26.19\00:49:28.16 let me check your file, yes, we have power of attorney 00:49:28.20\00:49:31.10 for your son or your daughter, then we can talk to them. 00:49:31.13\00:49:34.04 Right. 00:49:34.07\00:49:35.40 So that is really, really important. 00:49:35.44\00:49:37.17 This is our Trust Services department, 00:49:37.21\00:49:40.04 you can trust us. 00:49:40.08\00:49:41.41 That's right. 00:49:41.44\00:49:42.78 Everything is very confidential and something that I wanted 00:49:42.81\00:49:45.51 and asking Barry who does he work for?
