Thank you. 00:07:47.03\00:07:48.36 Kind of give us an overview of... 00:07:48.40\00:07:49.73 Thank you for having us. 00:07:49.76\00:07:51.23 You know, I've been working with Little Light 00:07:51.27\00:07:53.67 since about 2008, 2009, it's kind of when we started. 00:07:53.70\00:07:57.94 And the way that God place this ministry in front of us, 00:07:57.97\00:08:04.15 it was never something that I woke up one day 00:08:04.18\00:08:05.71 and said, "Hey, I want to work in ministry 00:08:05.75\00:08:07.12 or I want to do this." 00:08:07.15\00:08:08.95 I just saw, you know, God opening this door 00:08:08.98\00:08:11.15 and that door and I always had an interest in video 00:08:11.19\00:08:13.76 and that's what I took in college 00:08:13.79\00:08:15.69 So I took film classes and ended up down in Hollywood 00:08:15.72\00:08:19.66 working in the film industry, till God got a hold of my heart 00:08:19.69\00:08:22.73 and opened up the door for this, 00:08:22.76\00:08:24.10 so we started working in full time ministry 00:08:24.13\00:08:26.00 in about 2009. 00:08:26.03\00:08:27.37 Wow, I'm so glad 00:08:27.40\00:08:28.74 that you've decided to take on that challenge. 00:08:28.77\00:08:30.11 We'll talk about how that happened 00:08:30.14\00:08:31.47 in the moment. 00:08:31.51\00:08:32.84 But, Danique, good to have you here also. 00:08:32.87\00:08:34.21 Thank you. Glad to be here. 00:08:34.24\00:08:35.58 And I found out where you were from originally 00:08:35.61\00:08:38.25 but tell our audience? 00:08:38.28\00:08:39.61 I am originally from the Netherlands. 00:08:39.65\00:08:41.58 I'm actually half South African. 00:08:41.62\00:08:43.05 Okay. 00:08:43.08\00:08:44.42 But so I ended up in United States, 00:08:44.45\00:08:45.79 felt like God was calling me to do this kind of work. 00:08:45.82\00:08:48.39 And so I do, just like Scott and Keith do, 00:08:48.42\00:08:51.06 pretty much everything, editing, graphic design, 00:08:51.09\00:08:53.36 shooting, doing some marketing recently social media, 00:08:53.40\00:08:57.83 it's mainly Keith and I do that kind of stuff 00:08:57.87\00:08:59.63 so pretty much everything that needs to be done. 00:08:59.67\00:09:02.24 Wow, a very excited team, a very purpose-driven team, 00:09:02.27\00:09:06.27 and your work has been appreciated by so many, 00:09:06.31\00:09:08.54 you've been able to go to GYCs, and ASI, 00:09:08.58\00:09:11.75 and the General Conference, 00:09:11.78\00:09:13.45 those are events that happened here 00:09:13.48\00:09:15.18 in the Seventh-day Adventist church. 00:09:15.22\00:09:16.69 A GYC, a large youth movement, beautiful spiritual movement. 00:09:16.72\00:09:20.29 ASI, Adventist Service is in Laymen industry. 00:09:20.32\00:09:24.93 How to share God in the marketplace 00:09:24.96\00:09:26.36 and General Conference which is something 00:09:26.39\00:09:28.26 that happens once every five years, 00:09:28.30\00:09:29.76 thousands and thousands of people. 00:09:29.80\00:09:31.67 But your media has really made it around the globe. 00:09:31.70\00:09:34.54 Just to kind of dive into the program, 00:09:34.57\00:09:37.57 Scott, I want to ask you, 00:09:37.61\00:09:39.47 where did the inspiration come from 00:09:39.51\00:09:41.68 to start Little Light Studios? 00:09:41.71\00:09:44.45 Well... And what is it? 00:09:44.48\00:09:46.08 Well, since my brother and I 00:09:46.11\00:09:49.05 and a childhood best friend of mine, 00:09:49.08\00:09:50.82 we all took film studies classes in college. 00:09:50.85\00:09:53.19 And my brother and I ended up 00:09:53.22\00:09:54.99 working in the television industry 00:09:55.02\00:09:56.36 down in Los Angeles. 00:09:56.39\00:09:58.56 And we had some pretty miraculous things 00:09:58.59\00:10:01.96 that God did to really wake us up 00:10:02.00\00:10:04.27 and shake us up and, you know, 00:10:04.30\00:10:06.03 we were raised Adventist but we kind of left the church 00:10:06.07\00:10:08.44 and had nothing to do with Christianity. 00:10:08.47\00:10:10.47 And when we came back into the church, 00:10:10.51\00:10:14.21 one of the first things that was asked of us 00:10:14.24\00:10:17.01 was an old youth pastor from our hometown said, 00:10:17.05\00:10:20.28 "Hey, why don't you come and you know, 00:10:20.32\00:10:21.78 speak to the youth about Hollywood, 00:10:21.82\00:10:23.92 they know you work in the industry 00:10:23.95\00:10:25.52 and they, all kids love movies these days, 00:10:25.55\00:10:28.06 so why don't you come and maybe show a movie 00:10:28.09\00:10:29.62 and talk about God?" 00:10:29.66\00:10:30.99 So the first time that 00:10:31.03\00:10:32.36 that our ministry ever started was, 00:10:32.39\00:10:34.30 we were going to, you know, show a movie. 00:10:34.33\00:10:38.43 Take for example, like, you know, 00:10:38.47\00:10:39.80 a Superman or Batman or something like that, 00:10:39.83\00:10:41.87 and somehow equate those characters to Jesus. 00:10:41.90\00:10:46.14 But we started opening our Bibles. 00:10:46.17\00:10:47.51 We started praying God what You want us to say. 00:10:47.54\00:10:49.34 We started looking into where did movies 00:10:49.38\00:10:51.01 and TV come from, 00:10:51.05\00:10:52.38 and once we started really asking for the Holy Spirit 00:10:52.41\00:10:55.92 to impress upon us, what He wanted us to say, 00:10:55.95\00:10:59.39 we started noticing that this movie 00:10:59.42\00:11:01.46 or that movie was actually saying things 00:11:01.49\00:11:03.46 that were opposite than the Bible. 00:11:03.49\00:11:05.73 So we did this presentation 00:11:05.76\00:11:08.06 and we never intended a ministry to start 00:11:08.10\00:11:10.50 but it kind of blossomed and we got asked to speak 00:11:10.53\00:11:12.93 all over the country in different universities 00:11:12.97\00:11:15.20 and churches, and then we started making videos 00:11:15.24\00:11:17.74 about some of the effects 00:11:17.77\00:11:19.17 that Hollywood has on your brain. 00:11:19.21\00:11:21.14 And then our ministry really kind of developed 00:11:21.18\00:11:23.18 into trying to talk about relevant issues, 00:11:23.21\00:11:27.22 lot of things that kids deal with these days, 00:11:27.25\00:11:29.08 and maybe there isn't a lot of information on them. 00:11:29.12\00:11:31.59 So we're trying to really open up the conversation 00:11:31.62\00:11:34.56 and aim people back at the Bible. 00:11:34.59\00:11:36.89 What does the Bible say? 00:11:36.93\00:11:38.26 And the things then this world, 00:11:38.29\00:11:40.03 they're trying to teach you opposite things so. 00:11:40.06\00:11:43.06 Wow, I tell you, it's been... 00:11:43.10\00:11:45.40 I've seen your product. 00:11:45.43\00:11:47.70 I've heard the name, 00:11:47.74\00:11:49.90 and I've heard people talk about it, 00:11:49.94\00:11:51.94 young people in particular talk about the product. 00:11:51.97\00:11:54.74 And some people have said, "You've got to see this DVD, 00:11:54.78\00:11:57.98 we got to see this presentation." 00:11:58.01\00:12:00.08 Praise God. 00:12:00.12\00:12:01.45 And praise the Lord for that 00:12:01.48\00:12:02.82 because what happens is the society 00:12:02.85\00:12:04.19 in which we live today is not coincidentally designed, 00:12:04.22\00:12:08.16 but it's intentionally designed. 00:12:08.19\00:12:09.52 Correct. 00:12:09.56\00:12:10.89 Keith, talk about that I mean, we look at the media today 00:12:10.93\00:12:13.96 and since Scott and Danique and you are all 00:12:14.00\00:12:17.13 collectively together in a market to say, 00:12:17.17\00:12:20.77 "Open your eyes, wake up. 00:12:20.80\00:12:22.64 This is what's happening." 00:12:22.67\00:12:24.01 What impact have you seen media have on, 00:12:24.04\00:12:28.11 not just the minds of the young but society in general? 00:12:28.14\00:12:30.45 Oh, well. 00:12:30.48\00:12:31.81 You know, it's really interesting 00:12:31.85\00:12:33.18 I was just surveying some of the Super Bowl 00:12:33.21\00:12:34.82 commercials recently and saying, 00:12:34.85\00:12:36.69 "You know what, what are these about?" 00:12:36.72\00:12:38.15 And there were two that were very striking to me. 00:12:38.19\00:12:40.76 One was a commercial 00:12:40.79\00:12:42.12 for a alcoholic beverage company, I won't name, 00:12:42.16\00:12:44.86 but they had an immigration theme 00:12:44.89\00:12:47.86 to their commercial. 00:12:47.90\00:12:49.23 And the other one was by Airbnb and they were talking 00:12:49.26\00:12:52.07 about how they accept every religion, 00:12:52.10\00:12:54.27 every kind of ethnicity, every kind of person. 00:12:54.30\00:12:56.74 And if you think about what our country 00:12:56.77\00:12:58.11 is going through right now, 00:12:58.14\00:12:59.87 the "Muslim Ban", you know, that's a very hot topic. 00:12:59.91\00:13:03.58 And here these companies used the largest commercial 00:13:03.61\00:13:08.25 viewing audience on the face of the planet 00:13:08.28\00:13:10.62 to put a message out in front of people, 00:13:10.65\00:13:12.69 that they don't agree with some of the things 00:13:12.72\00:13:14.46 that were going on in the government 00:13:14.49\00:13:15.82 so I mean, they know it works 00:13:15.86\00:13:17.53 otherwise they wouldn't be choosing that platform 00:13:17.56\00:13:20.20 to put that message out there. 00:13:20.23\00:13:22.50 Wow, that's true. 00:13:22.53\00:13:23.87 So they use these little snippets 00:13:23.90\00:13:25.23 and these are not long commercials. 00:13:25.27\00:13:26.60 You know, years ago my wife and I 00:13:26.63\00:13:27.97 worked for an advertising company in New York. 00:13:28.00\00:13:30.91 And they dealt with advertising for Coca-Cola 00:13:30.94\00:13:33.84 and they noticed around the Super Bowl on major events, 00:13:33.88\00:13:36.41 World Series, NBA Finals, 00:13:36.44\00:13:38.51 a lot of these sporting events, 00:13:38.55\00:13:40.88 that people were willing to pay millions of dollars 00:13:40.92\00:13:44.19 for 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds was considered like, 00:13:44.22\00:13:48.26 if you could pay for 30 seconds you got deep pockets. 00:13:48.29\00:13:50.96 And so we talk about some of these commercials, 00:13:50.99\00:13:52.46 because and they... 00:13:52.49\00:13:53.83 Let me ask another question, I'll ask Danique, 00:13:53.86\00:13:56.50 or anyone of you could answer this question. 00:13:56.53\00:13:58.63 Do you think that the, in being in Hollywood, 00:13:58.67\00:14:01.84 do you think that the Hollywood industry 00:14:01.87\00:14:03.61 studies the human mind? 00:14:03.64\00:14:06.47 I think for sure in today's technology I mean, 00:14:06.51\00:14:09.48 they're starting to test every film 00:14:09.51\00:14:13.21 that's coming out of various different media productions 00:14:13.25\00:14:16.58 with putting people in FMRI machines. 00:14:16.62\00:14:18.79 I mean, this is like medical imagery 00:14:18.82\00:14:20.46 that looks at what parts of the brain are activated 00:14:20.49\00:14:23.32 when you're viewing whatever pieces of media. 00:14:23.36\00:14:25.49 I mean, there's major Hollywood movies 00:14:25.53\00:14:27.13 like the James Cameron film "Avatar", 00:14:27.16\00:14:30.70 I mean, they did a lot of testing 00:14:30.73\00:14:32.07 with FMRI's when that film came out. 00:14:32.10\00:14:34.44 So they know that... 00:14:34.47\00:14:36.00 FMRI's here so that's an acronym for? 00:14:36.04\00:14:38.91 For functional MRI, so what it's studying is 00:14:38.94\00:14:41.74 that in the hemoglobin in your blood is iron-rich, 00:14:41.78\00:14:46.18 so it's tracking and it's basically a big magnet 00:14:46.21\00:14:49.12 that's tracking what parts of the brain 00:14:49.15\00:14:50.95 are using the most amounts of blood. 00:14:50.99\00:14:53.02 So they can see if you're, you know, 00:14:53.05\00:14:56.02 scared in a movie which part of your brain 00:14:56.06\00:14:58.39 that is dealing with fear, so your medulla and, you know, 00:14:58.43\00:15:03.57 your fight-or-flight system and... 00:15:03.60\00:15:05.30 Limbic system. ..Yeah limbic system. 00:15:05.33\00:15:07.04 So what they'll do is they will tailor the movie 00:15:07.07\00:15:09.17 to give you the maximum amount of effect 00:15:09.20\00:15:11.47 that it has upon you 00:15:11.51\00:15:12.84 because the more gradate emotional response 00:15:12.87\00:15:15.21 that you have, the more money they make 00:15:15.24\00:15:17.28 because you want to go and see it. 00:15:17.31\00:15:18.65 So that's why, you know, 00:15:18.68\00:15:20.02 commercials during the Super Bowl 00:15:20.05\00:15:21.38 are 5 million dollars for 30 seconds because 00:15:21.42\00:15:23.49 everyone is in a heightened state of emotion, 00:15:23.52\00:15:26.02 and those commercials affect you differently 00:15:26.05\00:15:29.09 in that state of emotion. 00:15:29.12\00:15:30.83 So I'm sure Hollywood knows a lot about that the way 00:15:30.86\00:15:35.26 the mind works and the technology 00:15:35.30\00:15:36.70 and they're using it to their advantage 00:15:36.73\00:15:38.13 to sell their messages to you. 00:15:38.17\00:15:40.20 And we've actually done quite a bit of research 00:15:40.24\00:15:42.20 about this how media affects your brain 00:15:42.24\00:15:44.87 in one of our documentaries "Pseudology, The Art of Lying". 00:15:44.91\00:15:48.98 And I think we watched this one... 00:15:49.01\00:15:50.41 The Art of Lying? The Art of Lying. 00:15:50.45\00:15:51.88 That's right. Okay. 00:15:51.91\00:15:53.25 I watched this one before I ever joined Little Light. 00:15:53.28\00:15:55.45 And by that time I think I was like 17 maybe. 00:15:55.48\00:15:59.52 And I already decided, no, I don't think I really watch 00:15:59.55\00:16:01.79 that much stuff anymore 00:16:01.82\00:16:03.16 because it's kind of a waste of time, 00:16:03.19\00:16:04.89 but that really convicted me 00:16:04.93\00:16:06.26 the way the media influences your brain, the frontal lobe 00:16:06.29\00:16:09.76 which is the part of your brain 00:16:09.80\00:16:11.67 used to make decisions, your moralities, 00:16:11.70\00:16:14.24 your spirituality, so use that to choose to worship God 00:16:14.27\00:16:17.61 and say, I'm gonna follow the Lord. 00:16:17.64\00:16:19.47 And what happens is 00:16:19.51\00:16:20.84 when you watch these television, and movies, 00:16:20.88\00:16:24.41 and entertainment, the shots change so frequently 00:16:24.45\00:16:27.42 your brain can't handle it because it's like, 00:16:27.45\00:16:29.22 this is not natural to me 00:16:29.25\00:16:30.59 and you go right into what they call an alpha state 00:16:30.62\00:16:33.59 which is a slower brain wave pattern 00:16:33.62\00:16:35.96 instead of the beta which is very fast paced, 00:16:35.99\00:16:38.03 which is what we're doing right now. 00:16:38.06\00:16:39.39 We're critically analyzing 00:16:39.43\00:16:41.16 what we're seeing and everything. 00:16:41.20\00:16:43.47 And alpha state is nothing else 00:16:43.50\00:16:45.60 than just a highly suggestible state 00:16:45.63\00:16:47.64 or also a state of trance, hypnotherapist 00:16:47.67\00:16:50.34 trying to get you into an alpha state 00:16:50.37\00:16:51.97 'cause they know then they can reach the subconscious 00:16:52.01\00:16:54.91 and preach to you whatever they want 00:16:54.94\00:16:57.48 and you can't reject it. 00:16:57.51\00:16:59.91 Doctor Neil Nedley, he talks about this 00:16:59.95\00:17:01.65 in our documentary he says, 00:17:01.68\00:17:03.02 "You can't reject the message. 00:17:03.05\00:17:04.39 It goes right into your brain 00:17:04.42\00:17:05.85 and it changes your character, right there." 00:17:05.89\00:17:07.96 And even music, let me ask you a question 00:17:07.99\00:17:09.82 but they even choose the kind of music 00:17:09.86\00:17:11.43 because what happens is the music opens a gateway 00:17:11.46\00:17:14.50 to allow the information to be poured in. 00:17:14.53\00:17:16.56 Yeah. 00:17:16.60\00:17:17.93 And music is a powerful tool. 00:17:17.97\00:17:19.40 I mean, you think about 00:17:19.43\00:17:20.77 why did Moses teach the children of Israel 00:17:20.80\00:17:22.67 to sing the Ten Commandments to song? 00:17:22.70\00:17:25.07 Why do you learn the ABC's to a song? 00:17:25.11\00:17:27.94 Because when you associate a certain piece of information 00:17:27.98\00:17:31.41 with the music, it seals it into your mind and you, 00:17:31.45\00:17:34.78 there's no delete button. 00:17:34.82\00:17:36.28 I mean, you know, I'm sure anyone that ever spent time 00:17:36.32\00:17:39.69 listening to worldly music, 00:17:39.72\00:17:41.42 and you've walked into a grocery store, 00:17:41.46\00:17:43.16 you've been in a building where all of a sudden 00:17:43.19\00:17:45.13 they play that song that you remember 00:17:45.16\00:17:46.83 when you were in high school, 00:17:46.86\00:17:48.26 your mind goes right back to where that song was played 00:17:48.30\00:17:51.70 because there's no delete button, 00:17:51.73\00:17:53.13 you cannot get rid of that out of your brain. 00:17:53.17\00:17:56.00 And so when they associate those particular words 00:17:56.04\00:17:58.41 or those themes with that, it's just one more way 00:17:58.44\00:18:02.01 of like impacting our brains that much more. 00:18:02.04\00:18:04.61 And you have some samples, 00:18:04.65\00:18:05.98 you've brought some clips with you today. 00:18:06.01\00:18:07.62 But I like you to set up that first one 00:18:07.65\00:18:09.12 that we're going to see, and give us an idea 00:18:09.15\00:18:11.79 because these are a compilation of different clips. 00:18:11.82\00:18:16.02 Talk about that? 00:18:16.06\00:18:17.46 So the clip that you're just about ready to see here, 00:18:17.49\00:18:20.33 it really is kind of a sample 00:18:20.36\00:18:22.56 of a lot of different mainstream Hollywood movies. 00:18:22.60\00:18:26.03 You know, some people think that Hollywood is just fake, 00:18:26.07\00:18:29.60 it's make-believe, it doesn't have any profound effect 00:18:29.64\00:18:32.01 upon your spiritual life. 00:18:32.04\00:18:33.38 But yet, in a lot of these movies, 00:18:33.41\00:18:34.74 they're discussing very spiritual topics, 00:18:34.78\00:18:37.35 and you'll hear, you know, God's name thrown out there. 00:18:37.38\00:18:41.48 You'll hear some of the things 00:18:41.52\00:18:42.92 that you've heard in your Bible, 00:18:42.95\00:18:44.69 but most often it is 00:18:44.72\00:18:46.45 from sort of a negative perspective of God... 00:18:46.49\00:18:48.96 Or a coulter. 00:18:48.99\00:18:50.33 Or the coulter, yeah. 00:18:50.36\00:18:51.69 And so this will just give you a little bit of a sample 00:18:51.73\00:18:54.50 of what some of the mainstream Hollywood films are discussing. 00:18:54.53\00:18:59.03 I'd like to issue a disclaimer 00:18:59.07\00:19:00.54 about what you're just about to watch, 00:19:00.57\00:19:02.50 these are in fact clips from existing movies. 00:19:02.54\00:19:06.04 If you're not comfortable with your children 00:19:06.07\00:19:07.74 watching these movies or any kind of entertainment, 00:19:07.78\00:19:10.81 this might be the portion that you would like to exclude. 00:19:10.85\00:19:14.02 But it is not graphic 00:19:14.05\00:19:15.78 and it is considered something informative 00:19:15.82\00:19:19.15 for you to understand. 00:19:19.19\00:19:20.69 Here they are. 00:19:20.72\00:19:22.06 I've been called many things over many lifetimes. 00:19:25.86\00:19:31.00 Ram, Krishna, Yahweh. 00:19:31.03\00:19:33.97 God is tribal. God takes sides. 00:19:38.61\00:19:41.54 No man in the sky intervened when I was a boy to deliver me 00:19:41.58\00:19:43.85 from Daddy's fist and abominations. 00:19:43.88\00:19:45.41 I figured it out way back, if God is all-powerful, 00:19:49.98\00:19:53.66 He cannot be all-good. 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.02 You are a king. 00:20:01.20\00:20:02.66 You lived in a cloud city 00:20:02.70\00:20:04.40 but evil forces came and cast you out. 00:20:04.43\00:20:07.87 I consider the possibility that God does not like you. 00:20:07.90\00:20:11.04 He never wanted you. 00:20:11.07\00:20:12.51 In all probability He hates you. 00:20:12.54\00:20:14.78 It's not the worst thing that can happen. 00:20:14.81\00:20:16.18 It isn't? We don't need him. 00:20:16.21\00:20:18.45 We don't. I agree. 00:20:18.48\00:20:19.81 We are God's unwanted children, so be it. 00:20:19.85\00:20:23.79 All around you are spirits, child. 00:20:23.82\00:20:29.12 I, Odin Allfather, cast you out! 00:20:29.16\00:20:31.76 I always like to think of it as, 00:20:36.87\00:20:38.20 I got him sitting there with the little message at them, 00:20:38.23\00:20:41.00 with the little moral at them, 00:20:41.04\00:20:42.47 with the little of what my view of the world is 00:20:42.50\00:20:44.77 because that's what every good film maker does. 00:20:44.81\00:20:47.48 And this was a story about Christ. 00:20:53.58\00:20:55.95 It's all about sacrifice, 00:20:55.98\00:20:57.72 the world like hear their cries. 00:20:57.75\00:20:59.89 So what happens? 00:20:59.92\00:21:01.26 He gets the knife on his side and later he falls to the earth 00:21:01.29\00:21:04.46 in the shape of crucifix. 00:21:04.49\00:21:06.03 You might save a man, I want personal Jesus Christ. 00:21:11.97\00:21:18.34 It's very, very destructive 00:21:18.37\00:21:20.81 in pretty much every facet of life. 00:21:20.84\00:21:23.35 Wherever this being was he always had four followers. 00:21:23.38\00:21:26.48 He would imbue with power. 00:21:26.51\00:21:28.58 Like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. 00:21:28.62\00:21:30.32 He got that one from the Bible. 00:21:30.35\00:21:31.72 Or the Bible got it from him. 00:21:31.75\00:21:33.49 You will never see anyone argue with their television set, 00:21:33.52\00:21:36.86 when entertainment television is going up. 00:21:36.89\00:21:38.96 They're not going to argue with the set 00:21:38.99\00:21:40.70 'cause they don't have the ability. 00:21:40.73\00:21:42.20 Wow. 00:22:09.72\00:22:11.06 Tell us what we just saw. 00:22:11.09\00:22:13.66 You saw a compilation of a lot of different films 00:22:13.70\00:22:17.67 that were either mentioning the concept of there is a God 00:22:17.70\00:22:22.37 but he's actually evil and we don't need him. 00:22:22.40\00:22:26.04 And, you know, they like in the video game, 00:22:26.07\00:22:30.08 little section that you saw it there, 00:22:30.11\00:22:31.61 they said that it was actually the king that was cast out. 00:22:31.65\00:22:35.18 And so they're kind of taking the ideas 00:22:35.22\00:22:37.52 that are taught in the Bible 00:22:37.55\00:22:38.89 and flipping them upside down. 00:22:38.92\00:22:40.96 What many people don't realize is 00:22:40.99\00:22:43.53 how your brain works just like what Dr. Neil Nedley said, 00:22:43.56\00:22:47.86 "You don't have the ability to stand up in the middle 00:22:47.90\00:22:50.63 of a movie and argue with it 00:22:50.67\00:22:52.23 because your mind is taking in all of these things, 00:22:52.27\00:22:54.97 and so what happens is they just soak into your brain, 00:22:55.00\00:22:58.54 and then they sit in there and you wonder why, you know, 00:22:58.57\00:23:03.11 kids leave the churches and by the hundreds 00:23:03.14\00:23:06.58 and thousands, and then many of them don't come back, 00:23:06.61\00:23:09.68 and many of them are, you know, immersed in this digital age." 00:23:09.72\00:23:13.56 So that was kind of just a sample of that, 00:23:13.59\00:23:15.76 a lot of our documentaries 00:23:15.79\00:23:17.43 really pick apart some of these modern mediums 00:23:17.46\00:23:19.93 and show you point-by-point, 00:23:19.96\00:23:23.30 this is what the Bible says, 00:23:23.33\00:23:24.80 this is what this movie is teaching you, 00:23:24.83\00:23:26.70 and a lot of times they are two opposite things. 00:23:26.74\00:23:29.30 Anything else? Keith, Danique? 00:23:29.34\00:23:31.27 What I think is interesting is what is it that altered, 00:23:31.31\00:23:35.54 called again that the whole video with Baby Einstein, 00:23:35.58\00:23:40.05 the whole presentation of Ted... 00:23:40.08\00:23:41.45 Dimitri Christakis. Yes. 00:23:41.48\00:23:43.18 So we interviewed him actually 00:23:43.22\00:23:45.12 in our documentary of pseudology. 00:23:45.15\00:23:47.26 And he talks of Baby Einstein which is a program 00:23:47.29\00:23:50.16 for toddlers or something. 00:23:50.19\00:23:51.96 And he talks about this baby on the farm, 00:23:51.99\00:23:55.60 when you see all these shots they're so freaking, 00:23:55.63\00:23:58.50 and they're in your face and then he talks about 00:23:58.53\00:24:00.77 "Well, what if a kid goes to the normal farm 00:24:00.80\00:24:03.94 because this is a show in which they're at the farm. 00:24:03.97\00:24:06.91 Kid goes to a normal farm and he gets bored, 00:24:06.94\00:24:09.48 because he's like why there is no sheep 00:24:09.51\00:24:10.85 popping into my face? 00:24:10.88\00:24:12.21 Why is this not happening? Why is that not happening? 00:24:12.25\00:24:14.22 And isn't that the same way with our Bibles. 00:24:14.25\00:24:17.49 All this stuff is popping your face, it's violence, 00:24:17.52\00:24:20.42 it's this, it's that, and then you have your Bible 00:24:20.46\00:24:22.62 and it's like people are like, "Oh, it's just some pages. 00:24:22.66\00:24:25.59 It's not interesting." 00:24:25.63\00:24:26.96 That's, I feel like that's what's happening to you 00:24:27.00\00:24:28.96 when you watch this kind of stuff, 00:24:29.00\00:24:31.93 it's just not interest to you anymore, you know. 00:24:31.97\00:24:34.44 That's true. 00:24:34.47\00:24:35.80 If you think about what a movie and what the Bible are doing, 00:24:35.84\00:24:39.34 they're both feeding you information. 00:24:39.37\00:24:40.94 That's right. 00:24:40.98\00:24:42.31 They're both feeding information about a world view, 00:24:42.34\00:24:44.18 your place in humanity. 00:24:44.21\00:24:46.45 I mean, they are... 00:24:46.48\00:24:48.78 they have a lot more flashy tools, and, you know, 00:24:48.82\00:24:51.49 their ways are using all manners of dazzle to get us 00:24:51.52\00:24:57.36 interested in their content, but, you know, 00:24:57.39\00:24:59.39 when you read the Bible, it's the Holy Spirit 00:24:59.43\00:25:01.86 that pieces together all these things in our imagination. 00:25:01.90\00:25:05.30 And I think like what Danique said, 00:25:05.33\00:25:07.44 one of the default problems that a lot of entertainment 00:25:07.47\00:25:10.44 does is it robs us of this beautiful imagination 00:25:10.47\00:25:13.17 that we have, so that when we do sit down 00:25:13.21\00:25:15.74 and want to dive into the Bible, 00:25:15.78\00:25:19.18 you often hear it's boring. 00:25:19.21\00:25:20.78 It's not as exciting as this movie or that movie. 00:25:20.82\00:25:23.12 And, you know, so I think some of these things 00:25:23.15\00:25:25.59 are just naturally addicting us to that form of information 00:25:25.62\00:25:31.33 and we're losing our desire for the truth. 00:25:31.36\00:25:34.33 Even the medium that's communicating 00:25:34.36\00:25:36.63 the information because the key is, 00:25:36.67\00:25:38.67 if I can get the information fast, 00:25:38.70\00:25:40.30 the point I want also emphasize you meant, you mentioned, was 00:25:40.34\00:25:44.01 that the images change so rapidly 00:25:44.04\00:25:46.61 that the mind doesn't get a chance to analyze it... 00:25:46.64\00:25:50.11 So its just recording it, it's recording it 00:25:50.15\00:25:52.15 because we all often look at something to say, 00:25:52.18\00:25:53.98 well, do I need that? 00:25:54.02\00:25:55.35 Do I want that? How much does it cost? 00:25:55.38\00:25:56.89 What is it all about? 00:25:56.92\00:25:58.25 Our mind, our frontal lobes or whatever system, 00:25:58.29\00:26:01.16 limbic system, I'm surely not a doctor. 00:26:01.19\00:26:04.03 But our reasoning powers are not allowed to grab it 00:26:04.06\00:26:07.43 and hold on to it because while we're holding on to it, 00:26:07.46\00:26:10.90 something else comes along we grab that 00:26:10.93\00:26:12.47 and something else comes along 00:26:12.50\00:26:13.84 and in 30 seconds you could sit there... 00:26:13.87\00:26:16.50 Yeah. Zoned out. 00:26:16.54\00:26:17.87 And when the commercial is done, it's like, 00:26:17.91\00:26:20.21 your body has just gone through a trauma 00:26:20.24\00:26:22.68 and you can't do anything about it. 00:26:22.71\00:26:24.68 Keith? 00:26:24.71\00:26:26.05 One thing that's really striking to me, 00:26:26.08\00:26:27.42 well, there's a couple of things. 00:26:27.45\00:26:28.78 One is the, the Gnostic themes that are presented to you. 00:26:28.82\00:26:31.79 A few years ago there was a movie 00:26:31.82\00:26:33.15 called "Man of Steel" it's about Superman. 00:26:33.19\00:26:34.66 Man of Steel. 00:26:34.69\00:26:36.02 ..A popular comic book character. 00:26:36.06\00:26:37.39 And in that film they really built up the similarities 00:26:37.43\00:26:41.40 to how much he was like Jesus. 00:26:41.43\00:26:43.40 The news media reported about it, 00:26:43.43\00:26:45.43 you could even go online at one point, I saved the PDF. 00:26:45.47\00:26:48.64 And download sermon notes, so that you could present 00:26:48.67\00:26:52.27 the different facets of this movie, 00:26:52.31\00:26:54.44 comparing the two characters. 00:26:54.48\00:26:56.44 And they provided you with media clips, and things 00:26:56.48\00:26:59.58 so that you could see how Jesus is like Superman. 00:26:59.61\00:27:03.79 Well, if you followed the lineage of that movie, 00:27:03.82\00:27:07.72 in the next one they took the character 00:27:07.76\00:27:10.26 and they tore him down. 00:27:10.29\00:27:12.09 And so Superman was this guy who was at odds with society, 00:27:12.13\00:27:15.56 and not as well-liked 00:27:15.60\00:27:17.07 and you could even see in the trailer 00:27:17.10\00:27:18.43 how they would call him a false God 00:27:18.47\00:27:19.80 and things like this. 00:27:19.83\00:27:21.17 And so what does that do to a person in the mind? 00:27:21.20\00:27:23.10 What does it do to their perception? 00:27:23.14\00:27:24.57 Because you're taking the two and associating them, 00:27:24.61\00:27:27.71 and then you're destroying that association, you know. 00:27:27.74\00:27:30.85 And so it's like well, what am I, 00:27:30.88\00:27:32.48 what seed is being planted for me to think about Christ, 00:27:32.51\00:27:35.58 you know. 00:27:35.62\00:27:36.95 The other thing that was very striking to me is 00:27:36.99\00:27:39.62 how violent things are getting. 00:27:39.65\00:27:41.72 There is a movie called "Deadpool" 00:27:41.76\00:27:44.29 that was released recently. 00:27:44.33\00:27:45.66 It's about another comic book character. 00:27:45.69\00:27:47.30 Very violent movie. 00:27:47.33\00:27:49.46 It was so violent they had to give it a rated R 00:27:49.50\00:27:51.80 rating which is very rare for a comic book movie 00:27:51.83\00:27:54.07 because they want those 13 year olds to be able to go 00:27:54.10\00:27:56.97 and watch, and you know, 00:27:57.01\00:27:58.47 their parents to go with them and things, 00:27:58.51\00:28:00.04 they want to make it more of a family type event, 00:28:00.08\00:28:01.58 but this one wasn't that way. 00:28:01.61\00:28:03.65 And it exploded, it was very popular. 00:28:03.68\00:28:07.15 It did very well financially. 00:28:07.18\00:28:09.82 And so what it did is it opened the door for Hollywood to say, 00:28:09.85\00:28:12.52 well, if it worked, now we can push the envelope 00:28:12.55\00:28:15.82 with more movies and give it that rated R rating 00:28:15.86\00:28:19.19 because we know that the audience 00:28:19.23\00:28:20.56 is accepting of it, they want it, 00:28:20.60\00:28:22.26 they desire that violent image to be put in front of them 00:28:22.30\00:28:26.43 and they'll pay to see it. 00:28:26.47\00:28:28.04 Well, and that's the seduction of it. 00:28:28.07\00:28:31.77 Push the envelope, but let's see 00:28:31.81\00:28:33.58 what kind of reaction we get 00:28:33.61\00:28:34.94 and if the reaction is favorable, 00:28:34.98\00:28:36.85 "Hey, let's keep pushing the envelope." 00:28:36.88\00:28:39.05 The thing that you talked about 00:28:39.08\00:28:40.42 Superman and Jesus being compared, 00:28:40.45\00:28:41.78 when the Bible says, there is none like me... 00:28:41.82\00:28:43.39 Okay. 00:28:43.42\00:28:44.75 And so but now you take a finite image 00:28:44.79\00:28:47.72 that doesn't really exist, a fictitious character 00:28:47.76\00:28:51.13 in comparison to the Christ... 00:28:51.16\00:28:53.36 Yeah. 00:28:53.40\00:28:54.73 ..who is true and real, and doesn't change. 00:28:54.76\00:28:56.67 And then in the next movie you have that character changed 00:28:56.70\00:28:59.03 which in fact he can't be like Christ, 00:28:59.07\00:29:00.64 'cause Christ never changes and then you tear him down, 00:29:00.67\00:29:03.74 and that stains the image in the mind. 00:29:03.77\00:29:06.24 Even let me go to some other themes and tell me 00:29:06.27\00:29:08.14 what you think about this, 00:29:08.18\00:29:09.51 and maybe you've looked in this area. 00:29:09.54\00:29:11.11 Even the formation of doctrinal beliefs like the second coming, 00:29:11.15\00:29:15.88 the movies like The Secret Rapture 00:29:15.92\00:29:17.85 distorts that, that's how Satan has taken 00:29:17.89\00:29:19.89 on the religious theme and completely, you know, 00:29:19.92\00:29:23.32 fought against the Bible truth on that topic. 00:29:23.36\00:29:25.73 The other one, Noah's Ark. 00:29:25.76\00:29:27.83 Yeah. Yeah. 00:29:27.86\00:29:29.73 You know, somebody that saw, I never went to see it 00:29:29.76\00:29:31.53 after somebody told me about it, I said, 00:29:31.57\00:29:33.00 "I don't want to see that garbage. 00:29:33.03\00:29:34.37 That's not Noah's Ark." Yeah. 00:29:34.40\00:29:35.74 Yeah. You know. 00:29:35.77\00:29:37.11 So an interesting thing about Noah's ark, you know, 00:29:37.14\00:29:39.44 on their actual webpage for that film, 00:29:39.47\00:29:41.74 they said that they stayed true to the integrity 00:29:41.78\00:29:44.48 of the biblical story that is a pillar of the Bible. 00:29:44.51\00:29:48.25 I mean, this was on their actual website, 00:29:48.28\00:29:50.75 on the front page. 00:29:50.79\00:29:52.22 And what's interesting is like 00:29:52.25\00:29:54.19 and there's a scene in there when Noah is telling his kids 00:29:54.22\00:29:57.36 about the creation of the world. 00:29:57.39\00:30:00.06 And what you hear is you hear Noah tell the creation story. 00:30:00.10\00:30:03.57 So he says, "You know, 00:30:03.60\00:30:04.93 God created the different animals and the plants, 00:30:04.97\00:30:07.67 and this on that day." 00:30:07.70\00:30:09.04 But what they visually show you is 00:30:09.07\00:30:11.31 one cell splits into two cells 00:30:11.34\00:30:13.14 which turns into a fish which grows feet, 00:30:13.17\00:30:15.38 which walks out on the land, which then turns into a monkey, 00:30:15.41\00:30:18.88 and then the next thing you see is Adam and Eve. 00:30:18.91\00:30:21.45 So they visually showed you the story of evolution, 00:30:21.48\00:30:26.82 but they verbally told you the story of creation, 00:30:26.86\00:30:29.22 which means if your mind is not able to sit 00:30:29.26\00:30:32.13 and decipher that information as it's going in... 00:30:32.16\00:30:35.76 Those two get married together, 00:30:35.80\00:30:37.13 they go into your mind 00:30:37.17\00:30:38.50 and then what happens in our church, 00:30:38.53\00:30:39.87 you know, there's many conversations today 00:30:39.90\00:30:43.57 about maybe God really didn't create the world 00:30:43.61\00:30:46.44 in six literal days and you know, seven days. 00:30:46.47\00:30:49.44 And so it's interesting that they're putting this idea 00:30:49.48\00:30:53.98 that this is a Christian kind of based movie, 00:30:54.02\00:30:56.38 but yet it's full of things that are erroneous. 00:30:56.42\00:31:00.06 I know and even in some religious circles, 00:31:00.09\00:31:02.09 not naming any denominational leaders, 00:31:02.12\00:31:04.13 have opened the door. 00:31:04.16\00:31:05.49 Well, it's possible that evolution and creation 00:31:05.53\00:31:07.00 could merge together in certain areas. 00:31:07.03\00:31:10.47 The Ten Commandments into the new version, 00:31:10.50\00:31:12.83 people are more likely today 00:31:12.87\00:31:14.24 and I've seen the impact of the movie industry, 00:31:14.27\00:31:16.91 they are becoming more likely today to determine 00:31:16.94\00:31:19.14 what they believe based on the movie, 00:31:19.17\00:31:22.04 rather than the study of God's Word. 00:31:22.08\00:31:24.18 And I think that's what Little Light 00:31:24.21\00:31:25.55 is trying to reverse. 00:31:25.58\00:31:26.92 That's right. 00:31:26.95\00:31:28.28 Talk about that little bit more? 00:31:28.32\00:31:29.65 So what we really try to do with all of our productions is 00:31:29.68\00:31:32.05 we try to aim people back at the Bible. 00:31:32.09\00:31:34.66 You know, it's the only way 00:31:34.69\00:31:37.23 that you can tell a counterfeit is to study the genuine. 00:31:37.26\00:31:39.46 That's right. 00:31:39.49\00:31:40.83 The genuine is going to be able to 00:31:40.86\00:31:43.57 instill the truth inside of you. 00:31:43.60\00:31:45.23 You cannot just study this movie 00:31:45.27\00:31:46.77 and that movie and then try to piece together 00:31:46.80\00:31:48.80 because there's so many different ideas, 00:31:48.84\00:31:51.91 there's so many different people 00:31:51.94\00:31:53.27 that write those stories. 00:31:53.31\00:31:54.64 And, you know, 00:31:54.68\00:31:56.01 especially some of the ones that claim they're Christian, 00:31:56.04\00:31:58.11 I mean, you have to consider the possibility that 00:31:58.15\00:32:00.72 if they are not sold-out to the message, 00:32:00.75\00:32:03.69 and they are not dedicated, consecrated Christians, 00:32:03.72\00:32:07.36 then we know that the devil can suggest starts to us, 00:32:07.39\00:32:10.13 so they may think, 00:32:10.16\00:32:11.49 "Hey, I came up with this great idea for this movie. 00:32:11.53\00:32:13.03 It's artistic and understanding of the story, 00:32:13.06\00:32:16.40 but they don't realize 00:32:16.43\00:32:17.77 who is suggesting that story to you. 00:32:17.80\00:32:19.33 And then audiences go and they sit and watch those 00:32:19.37\00:32:21.60 and soak those thoughts. 00:32:21.64\00:32:22.97 And so we really want our young people, 00:32:23.00\00:32:26.37 you know, we used to be the people of the book. 00:32:26.41\00:32:28.01 Right? That's right. 00:32:28.04\00:32:29.38 Then get back in the Bible because this is the guideline 00:32:29.41\00:32:32.95 that will keep us connected to God. 00:32:32.98\00:32:35.85 And, you know, just because, you know, 00:32:35.88\00:32:38.92 you started a movie doesn't necessarily make it evil, 00:32:38.95\00:32:43.69 I want to say that. 00:32:43.73\00:32:45.06 I want to say a disclaimer that 00:32:45.09\00:32:46.43 media can be used to share the gospel. 00:32:46.46\00:32:49.16 I mean, look at what 3ABN is doing. 00:32:49.20\00:32:50.70 Look at what we do. 00:32:50.73\00:32:52.23 I mean, all we do, all day long, 00:32:52.27\00:32:53.67 is create media productions. 00:32:53.70\00:32:55.20 That's right. 00:32:55.24\00:32:56.57 But I think at the end of the day, 00:32:56.60\00:32:58.81 we would rather, you know, 00:32:58.84\00:33:00.61 go to the Bible to get your information. 00:33:00.64\00:33:03.55 Don't just accept it because you saw in the film. 00:33:03.58\00:33:06.41 I want you to set up this next clip 00:33:06.45\00:33:07.78 that we're gonna look at 00:33:07.82\00:33:09.15 because what we're talking about here, 00:33:09.18\00:33:10.52 and what you're hearing us say is in fact, 00:33:10.55\00:33:13.76 people are losing their desire to become gold-diggers. 00:33:13.79\00:33:17.89 And let me just emphasize that, 00:33:17.93\00:33:20.13 I live in California where there are 00:33:20.16\00:33:21.63 people did panning, they did gold-digging, 00:33:21.66\00:33:23.67 you know, a lot of people go to Utah 00:33:23.70\00:33:25.33 and Colorado and out, you know, Yellowstone, 00:33:25.37\00:33:28.74 they do panning and gold-digging. 00:33:28.77\00:33:30.51 And it's an arduous task. 00:33:30.54\00:33:32.81 You don't find the gold or the diamonds on the surface. 00:33:32.84\00:33:36.11 Right. 00:33:36.14\00:33:37.48 And the very same thing is true about the Bible, 00:33:37.51\00:33:38.85 you don't find them in a nanosecond 00:33:38.88\00:33:41.68 or in 500 themes going by in 30 seconds, 00:33:41.72\00:33:44.99 you don't find it that way. 00:33:45.02\00:33:46.49 But the movies and the media is doing 00:33:46.52\00:33:48.99 is not only giving false pictures 00:33:49.02\00:33:50.49 of the true representations in the Bible, 00:33:50.53\00:33:53.50 the true characters of the Bible, 00:33:53.53\00:33:54.86 and even the word character is not even the good word. 00:33:54.90\00:33:57.33 The true personalities in the Bible. 00:33:57.37\00:33:59.57 Noah, a personality, Jesus, the Christ. 00:33:59.60\00:34:04.21 If we use characters, 00:34:04.24\00:34:05.57 then that's equated to the movie, 00:34:05.61\00:34:06.94 "What character did you play?" 00:34:06.98\00:34:08.74 I don't even like to use word character with the Bible. 00:34:08.78\00:34:11.11 But it's breaking down that 00:34:11.15\00:34:13.38 true representation of a message 00:34:13.42\00:34:15.25 that has stood the test of time. 00:34:15.28\00:34:16.65 The one thing that gives me 00:34:16.69\00:34:18.02 courage, Keith, Danique, and Scott 00:34:18.05\00:34:19.59 is this that there is an illustration 00:34:19.62\00:34:21.59 many years ago, it says, 00:34:21.62\00:34:23.39 "The anvil of truth 00:34:23.43\00:34:24.99 has worn out many hammers of false teachings." 00:34:25.03\00:34:29.90 The anvil of truth, 00:34:29.93\00:34:31.27 you can hit that thing for years 00:34:31.30\00:34:32.63 many hammers have replaced, 00:34:32.67\00:34:34.17 keep hitting the same anvil, 00:34:34.20\00:34:35.54 the anvil of truth wears out 00:34:35.57\00:34:37.34 many hammers of false teachings. 00:34:37.37\00:34:38.97 But set up the next clip for us? 00:34:39.01\00:34:41.18 I like Danique do that. Sure. 00:34:41.21\00:34:42.54 She actually really helped a lot with the editing on 00:34:42.58\00:34:45.15 in the creation of this documentary 00:34:45.18\00:34:47.45 that we made called controller about video game so. 00:34:47.48\00:34:50.35 Yeah, so it's a little disclaimer. 00:34:50.39\00:34:53.82 I was actually a video game addict for many, many years. 00:34:53.86\00:34:55.72 Okay. 00:34:55.76\00:34:57.09 I only realized that I had been an addict 00:34:57.13\00:34:58.46 when I listen to Scott Ritsema's Talk Media 00:34:58.49\00:35:00.66 on the brain on AudioVerse. 00:35:00.70\00:35:03.23 But so when I was there in 2015, I was in... 00:35:03.26\00:35:07.40 we were still in California, went to visit them. 00:35:07.44\00:35:10.31 And I worked for them for two months, and they were like, 00:35:10.34\00:35:12.71 "Well, why don't you make Controlled level three", 00:35:12.74\00:35:14.64 'cause we already had number one, number two, 00:35:14.68\00:35:16.28 two other documentaries about video games. 00:35:16.31\00:35:18.68 So this is our latest documentary we released it, 00:35:18.71\00:35:21.02 well, maybe I don't know a few months ago. 00:35:21.05\00:35:23.55 And, yeah, I would talk to... 00:35:23.59\00:35:25.62 we're discussing those games that are played most. 00:35:25.65\00:35:28.42 So Halo, Grand Theft Auto, 00:35:28.46\00:35:30.26 Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed, 00:35:30.29\00:35:32.66 very popular games, 00:35:32.69\00:35:34.03 not just focusing on the violence 00:35:34.06\00:35:35.56 because that's just obvious 00:35:35.60\00:35:36.93 but focusing on the biblical messages 00:35:36.97\00:35:39.17 that are put on its head 00:35:39.20\00:35:40.54 and how is that impacting your relationship with God. 00:35:40.57\00:35:43.37 Okay. 00:35:43.41\00:35:44.74 Once again the disclaimer fits for all of those other clips 00:35:44.77\00:35:47.64 that we are gonna include today, 00:35:47.68\00:35:49.44 but here's what Danique just introduced. 00:35:49.48\00:35:51.88 It separates you from God and before you know. 00:36:19.97\00:36:23.51 You distance yourself in every way 00:36:23.55\00:36:25.68 from anything to do with God. 00:36:25.71\00:36:30.39 Bible became a boring book, 00:36:30.42\00:36:32.09 book that was dull and dissatisfying 00:36:32.12\00:36:34.52 because of the excitement and nothing natural. 00:36:34.56\00:36:37.46 World that was putting myself in playing computer games 00:36:37.49\00:36:41.10 was destroying my relationship with God. 00:36:41.13\00:36:43.06 P. Shavaun Scott and Niels Clark 00:36:53.78\00:36:55.64 in the book 'Game Addicts' 00:36:55.68\00:36:57.01 talk about that there is some sort of hypnosis 00:36:57.05\00:37:00.08 that occurs when you are playing video games. 00:37:00.12\00:37:02.62 You lived in a cloud city 00:37:09.92\00:37:11.66 but evil forces came and cast you out. 00:37:11.69\00:37:14.10 You take your image of the creators 00:37:14.13\00:37:16.06 from an ancient book written by men. 00:37:16.10\00:37:19.20 It is Master Chief who attacks the covenant, 00:37:19.23\00:37:21.67 he attacks Christ's plan of salvation. 00:37:21.70\00:37:24.71 Everyone is searching for something. 00:37:33.88\00:37:35.78 It gives you the ability to become someone else 00:37:35.82\00:37:39.05 or someone who is powerful 00:37:39.09\00:37:41.39 who can break the rules 00:37:41.42\00:37:43.46 without actually getting arrested. 00:37:43.49\00:37:45.89 And they found that many, many school shootings 00:37:45.93\00:37:49.40 are also linked to playing video games. 00:37:49.43\00:37:51.87 This satanic mean offers life after death 00:37:51.90\00:37:55.47 in the frozen forest. 00:37:55.50\00:37:57.14 Before you know it, it's not only applying, 00:37:57.17\00:38:00.38 anyway it's very, very destructive 00:38:00.41\00:38:03.61 in pretty much every facet of life. 00:38:03.65\00:38:06.15 It was completely effective 00:38:09.52\00:38:11.55 in destructing and making the great controversy 00:38:11.59\00:38:13.66 that was raging around me. 00:38:13.69\00:38:15.79 I just but totally absorbed in this thing. 00:38:15.82\00:38:20.03 Wow. 00:38:44.12\00:38:45.45 Once again, video games, I made the comment 00:38:45.49\00:38:48.42 because it's called Controller 3. 00:38:48.46\00:38:50.99 That's right. 00:38:51.03\00:38:52.36 So the inference would be who is controlling whom. 00:38:52.39\00:38:56.13 Talk about that for a moment... Sure. 00:38:56.16\00:38:57.53 'Cause you said you're video game addict, 00:38:57.57\00:38:59.03 I don't know if they caught that. 00:38:59.07\00:39:00.40 Yeah, so I was actually a video game addict. 00:39:00.44\00:39:03.67 I was completely a different person 00:39:03.71\00:39:05.04 before I became a Christian. 00:39:05.07\00:39:06.54 I grew up with Nintendo, 00:39:06.57\00:39:08.31 we had all kinds of devices in our house. 00:39:08.34\00:39:12.41 Me and my brother are very much into games. 00:39:12.45\00:39:14.35 And I mean, now I look like a very acquiescent, 00:39:14.38\00:39:16.99 Paul's probably say feminine person. 00:39:17.02\00:39:18.82 But I was wearing hoodies and jeans 00:39:18.85\00:39:21.22 and I was kind of a tomboy. 00:39:21.26\00:39:23.73 And I played all those games 00:39:23.76\00:39:25.69 that are actually in this documentary 00:39:25.73\00:39:27.63 so I played Halo, played Assassin's Creed, 00:39:27.66\00:39:29.93 played Grand Theft Auto as a girl. 00:39:29.96\00:39:32.27 All that I would say junk 00:39:32.30\00:39:35.37 played The Sims as well, of course. 00:39:35.40\00:39:36.94 And I... 00:39:36.97\00:39:38.41 Yeah, you know, I really, really, believe 00:39:38.44\00:39:39.94 that has an impact on you 00:39:39.97\00:39:41.78 and even has such an impact that 00:39:41.81\00:39:44.05 when I was researching for this documentary, 00:39:44.08\00:39:47.75 I was doing it for a whole day. 00:39:47.78\00:39:49.62 At the end of the day, I felt so far away from God. 00:39:49.65\00:39:52.39 I was like I have to get on my knees and pray again 00:39:52.42\00:39:54.56 'cause I feel drained right now. 00:39:54.59\00:39:57.19 So I really believe it has an impact on you 00:39:57.23\00:39:59.76 and this is what's happening. 00:39:59.79\00:40:02.66 And you set to put this together, 00:40:02.70\00:40:04.77 you had to step back and not continue them 00:40:04.80\00:40:07.10 to reintroduce yourself to things 00:40:07.14\00:40:08.47 that you had abandoned. 00:40:08.50\00:40:09.84 That's right. You felt that lack of... 00:40:09.87\00:40:11.67 It was hard. It was really hard. 00:40:11.71\00:40:13.41 I mean, I was, these were games 00:40:13.44\00:40:15.28 that I played hours in a row. 00:40:15.31\00:40:17.15 I once played The Sims through the night. 00:40:17.18\00:40:19.31 And you know, the Sims is a game 00:40:19.35\00:40:20.92 where you can raise a family and all that and simulate life. 00:40:20.95\00:40:25.79 And in the game, while I was playing it through the night 00:40:25.82\00:40:28.49 and I was able to get my child, 00:40:28.52\00:40:31.49 my Sim child grow from a baby to a teenager 00:40:31.53\00:40:34.10 and those who played Sims know it takes quite sometime. 00:40:34.13\00:40:37.57 And I was maybe 12 years old or something 00:40:37.60\00:40:39.93 and, you know, it's crazy. 00:40:39.97\00:40:42.74 And the thing is I was like, okay, 00:40:42.77\00:40:45.44 let's analyze these games, 00:40:45.47\00:40:46.81 I played these games and they're super popular, 00:40:46.84\00:40:48.64 know they're violent 00:40:48.68\00:40:50.01 but I don't want to focus on that 00:40:50.05\00:40:51.38 because every hardcore gamer will say 00:40:51.41\00:40:52.98 whatever I don't care about that. 00:40:53.01\00:40:54.62 But I wanna focus 00:40:54.65\00:40:55.98 on the spiritual message that is in there, 00:40:56.02\00:40:57.82 and when I discovered some of these things like 00:40:57.85\00:41:00.06 Halo, or Grand Theft Auto, it blew my mind. 00:41:00.09\00:41:04.06 And I thought why I have never seen those things. 00:41:04.09\00:41:07.23 Because your mind was controlled by it. 00:41:07.26\00:41:10.10 My brain was... Yeah. 00:41:10.13\00:41:11.47 My frontal lobe was suppressed 00:41:11.50\00:41:12.83 and I was not able to understand 00:41:12.87\00:41:14.87 and dig through these things. 00:41:14.90\00:41:17.57 And even when I was analyzing these games, 00:41:17.61\00:41:19.77 it took me forever to figure this out. 00:41:19.81\00:41:21.38 It's like you have to dig through 00:41:21.41\00:41:22.74 layer and layer and layer, 00:41:22.78\00:41:24.21 and I was just praying Lord, 00:41:24.25\00:41:26.25 I see there's something there 00:41:26.28\00:41:27.62 but I can't really wrap my head around it, 00:41:27.65\00:41:30.19 help me to understand it and then finally it hit me 00:41:30.22\00:41:32.35 and I was like "Oh, wow. 00:41:32.39\00:41:34.22 This is crazy." 00:41:34.26\00:41:36.29 What messages are in these games. 00:41:36.32\00:41:37.96 It's just insane. 00:41:37.99\00:41:39.33 And it setup, Keith and Scott, 00:41:39.36\00:41:41.06 in such a way that it keeps you 00:41:41.10\00:41:42.53 wanting to go to the next level. 00:41:42.56\00:41:43.90 That's right. 00:41:43.93\00:41:45.27 Talk about the appeal 'cause as speaker evangelists, 00:41:45.30\00:41:48.37 you also work in a lot of the graphic areas too. 00:41:48.40\00:41:50.91 When you go and stand before an audience of young people, 00:41:50.94\00:41:54.74 how do you say to them? 00:41:54.78\00:41:56.11 What do you say to them? 00:41:56.14\00:41:57.78 Well, you know, I typically always start out with science. 00:41:57.81\00:42:01.12 Okay. 00:42:01.15\00:42:02.48 You never know who's in your audience. 00:42:02.52\00:42:04.12 And so I think science as a good bridge 00:42:04.15\00:42:06.29 to establish some facts. 00:42:06.32\00:42:08.36 And once you establish some facts about 00:42:08.39\00:42:09.99 how that brain works, 00:42:10.03\00:42:11.36 what kind of effect it has on you, 00:42:11.39\00:42:13.56 what kind of effect it has on your limbic system, 00:42:13.60\00:42:15.66 and things like this, 00:42:15.70\00:42:17.20 you can really then begin to build a bridge 00:42:17.23\00:42:19.27 with your audience and say, okay, 00:42:19.30\00:42:20.94 now that we've established this truth, 00:42:20.97\00:42:23.41 let's go into the truth of what the Bible has to say 00:42:23.44\00:42:27.04 and see if these themes that are being taught 00:42:27.08\00:42:30.65 are match-up with this book. 00:42:30.68\00:42:32.95 And if they don't, 00:42:32.98\00:42:34.48 well, now we have to re-evaluate 00:42:34.52\00:42:35.85 our situation and say, "Is this the best thing for us? 00:42:35.88\00:42:38.75 Is this what God would have us to do?" 00:42:38.79\00:42:41.02 And if it's not, 00:42:41.06\00:42:42.39 then it's time to repent, right? 00:42:42.42\00:42:45.09 And it's time to move on from that to something else 00:42:45.13\00:42:49.56 by claiming the promises of God that He has the power 00:42:49.60\00:42:51.83 to deliver us from these things, 00:42:51.87\00:42:53.90 and to set us free, 00:42:53.94\00:42:55.80 and then live a victorious life based on his merits. 00:42:55.84\00:42:58.84 That's right. 00:42:58.87\00:43:00.21 Scott, would you say coming from the movie industry 00:43:00.24\00:43:02.71 trying to get people out of this, 00:43:02.74\00:43:04.08 this is almost like drug rehabilitation? 00:43:04.11\00:43:06.58 It is. 00:43:06.61\00:43:07.95 Because you know the dopamine that's released in your brain, 00:43:07.98\00:43:10.75 it's a very attractive thing. 00:43:10.79\00:43:12.29 I mean, if you're really addicted to TV, 00:43:12.32\00:43:15.06 if you try to just stop, 00:43:15.09\00:43:17.23 you will notice the withdrawal symptoms, 00:43:17.26\00:43:19.76 your brain will try to talk you into 00:43:19.79\00:43:21.26 why you need to see this movie or that movie? 00:43:21.30\00:43:23.13 I mean, the reason why they show trailers before movies 00:43:23.16\00:43:26.17 is because it's like bringing you to the next level 00:43:26.20\00:43:28.47 and continuing on forward. 00:43:28.50\00:43:30.67 So what we have found that the best way to do it 00:43:30.71\00:43:34.08 is you have to replace it with something, 00:43:34.11\00:43:36.75 you cannot just take it away, stop, 00:43:36.78\00:43:38.78 it has to be replaced. 00:43:38.81\00:43:41.18 And the thing to replace it with is 00:43:41.22\00:43:43.72 I believe we are out of time in this world stage. 00:43:43.75\00:43:48.62 I mean, we are standing on the precipice of time, 00:43:48.66\00:43:51.26 and you see the thing that the devil got, the Israelites, 00:43:51.29\00:43:54.96 when they were standing 00:43:55.00\00:43:56.33 on the edge of the Jordan to do, 00:43:56.36\00:43:57.93 was, you know, worship some other god 00:43:57.97\00:44:01.17 or some other thing in the world, 00:44:01.20\00:44:03.91 and then, of course, we know that calamity 00:44:03.94\00:44:05.94 happened to the Israelites, right? 00:44:05.97\00:44:07.94 Well, the devil has no new tricks, 00:44:07.98\00:44:09.31 he's doing the same thing to us. 00:44:09.34\00:44:10.68 Same thing. 00:44:10.71\00:44:12.05 He's getting us to worship everything else 00:44:12.08\00:44:13.48 other than our God. 00:44:13.52\00:44:15.35 So if we can unplug from these distractions of this world 00:44:15.38\00:44:20.16 and begin to build our relationship 00:44:20.19\00:44:23.16 based on the foundations and the truths of the Bible, 00:44:23.19\00:44:26.13 just like that song says, 00:44:26.16\00:44:27.60 "The things of this world will grow strangely dim." 00:44:27.63\00:44:31.00 And you see, I was addicted to movies like each one of us. 00:44:31.03\00:44:33.70 I think why God asked us to be involved in this ministry 00:44:33.74\00:44:37.34 and do what we're doing is because 00:44:37.37\00:44:38.77 I personally was addicted to movies, 00:44:38.81\00:44:40.88 to the point where I wanted to go to Hollywood 00:44:40.91\00:44:43.04 and make them. 00:44:43.08\00:44:44.41 That was my passion, that was my life, 00:44:44.45\00:44:46.48 that's what I wanted to do. 00:44:46.51\00:44:47.85 So people can't say to you, 00:44:47.88\00:44:49.22 you don't know what we're talking about? 00:44:49.25\00:44:50.59 Yeah, I was there. 00:44:50.62\00:44:51.95 I mean, in college I spent every weekend 00:44:51.99\00:44:54.72 at the movie theater, every movie. 00:44:54.76\00:44:56.96 Didn't matter what rating it was or nothing. 00:44:56.99\00:44:59.19 And step-by-step before I knew it, 00:44:59.23\00:45:02.40 I was far away from God 00:45:02.43\00:45:03.80 and had nothing to do with religion. 00:45:03.83\00:45:05.20 But there is some good news we're talking about here today, 00:45:05.23\00:45:06.97 because there's a way to reverse it now 00:45:07.00\00:45:08.54 as you set up this final clip 00:45:08.57\00:45:09.97 that we're gonna show, which there is no need to, 00:45:10.01\00:45:13.34 you know, turn away from this clip 00:45:13.38\00:45:14.71 because this in fact, to me, 00:45:14.74\00:45:16.64 is an introduction 00:45:16.68\00:45:18.11 and to how to recalibrate the brain. 00:45:18.15\00:45:22.08 How to get people involved, 00:45:22.12\00:45:25.02 rather than become meaningful, 00:45:25.05\00:45:29.09 wandering generalities, 00:45:29.12\00:45:30.79 they could become meaningful specifics. 00:45:30.83\00:45:33.09 And so set this third clip up because it's very... 00:45:33.13\00:45:35.70 I mean this is important. 00:45:35.73\00:45:37.07 It's taking young people that are trapped in a, 00:45:37.10\00:45:39.60 I can't do anything about it world, 00:45:39.63\00:45:41.57 to be able to do something about it. 00:45:41.60\00:45:43.54 So this is a neat project. 00:45:43.57\00:45:46.04 A lot of times people ask our ministry, 00:45:46.07\00:45:47.74 "So is there anything good for us to watch?" 00:45:47.78\00:45:50.11 So what we wanted to do is work on a documentary 00:45:50.15\00:45:52.08 that was a positive that was showing, 00:45:52.11\00:45:55.12 "Hey, here's a nice form of media 00:45:55.15\00:45:57.85 in a nice way to teach in an educational way." 00:45:57.89\00:46:03.63 And so this was following around an Adventist teacher 00:46:03.66\00:46:06.16 that takes the students on a wagon trip, 00:46:06.19\00:46:09.16 and takes away all the media, 00:46:09.20\00:46:11.17 and places them back in the 1850s, 00:46:11.20\00:46:13.84 and educates them properly. 00:46:13.87\00:46:16.04 Okay. Let's go right to the clip. 00:46:16.07\00:46:17.41 It's about four minutes. Don't turn away. 00:46:17.44\00:46:21.41 First page in the seventh grade health notebook 00:46:21.44\00:46:24.21 I still have it. 00:46:24.25\00:46:26.15 Question asks, it's kind of faded there. 00:46:26.18\00:46:29.68 It basically, "What kind of a profession you want to do 00:46:29.72\00:46:32.09 when you're an adult?" 00:46:32.12\00:46:34.52 "I would like to be a teacher 00:46:34.56\00:46:36.56 because I like young people and I like to help them." 00:46:36.59\00:46:40.90 Now there is a 13-year-old boy 00:46:40.93\00:46:42.26 who cut this picture out and stuck it on here and said, 00:46:42.30\00:46:45.10 "This is what I think I will look like when I'm a teacher." 00:46:45.13\00:46:47.97 The picture that seventh grade boy 00:46:48.00\00:46:49.34 pasted in that tablet 00:46:49.37\00:46:51.07 represented teaching as he envisioned it 00:46:51.11\00:46:52.91 would be over the years, but that's not what happened. 00:46:52.94\00:46:56.11 It changed, it grew, it took on its own life 00:46:56.14\00:46:59.15 and changed into the teaching that I experience now. 00:46:59.18\00:47:02.48 Students have been introduced to their journals. 00:47:02.52\00:47:04.45 Journals are significant in the immigration experience. 00:47:04.49\00:47:08.29 They became primary resources to us. 00:47:08.32\00:47:10.83 This is 1849, 00:47:10.86\00:47:12.79 he went on the trail you're going on. 00:47:12.83\00:47:14.76 And it's probably the first natural trail guide 00:47:14.80\00:47:16.67 that was written, it was a diary. 00:47:16.70\00:47:18.80 He kept meticulous records. 00:47:18.83\00:47:20.90 Campsites where you can find water and... 00:47:20.94\00:47:23.27 At school we have high structure. 00:47:23.30\00:47:25.37 It's very common, teacher will give a topic 00:47:25.41\00:47:27.48 and you will pull the topic. 00:47:27.51\00:47:29.51 And it's hard for them 00:47:29.54\00:47:30.88 to develop a freedom to write. 00:47:30.91\00:47:32.61 And they won't write because they need to, 00:47:32.65\00:47:34.35 they want to be right. 00:47:34.38\00:47:36.02 If I tell them what to write, 00:47:36.05\00:47:37.39 I miss out on where their trail's going. 00:47:37.42\00:47:39.95 I miss on their journey. 00:47:39.99\00:47:41.32 Today we're taking a new road to Oregon, right? 00:47:41.36\00:47:43.69 That route often leads to California by the way. 00:47:43.73\00:47:46.80 Push, help me push. 00:47:46.83\00:47:48.40 I can take these students on a wagon trip, 00:47:48.43\00:47:50.20 where the environment itself becomes a teaching component. 00:47:50.23\00:47:52.93 'Cause you don't have all of the day before you, 00:47:52.97\00:47:55.07 and unless you learn how to become efficient, 00:47:55.10\00:47:57.41 and work well, and use your morning 00:47:57.44\00:47:59.57 so that your night is well planned for, 00:47:59.61\00:48:04.35 you're gonna find yourself in a lot of, 00:48:04.38\00:48:06.72 well, you're gonna sleep on a better consequences. 00:48:06.75\00:48:08.62 Well, I'd like to have you considered, 00:48:08.65\00:48:10.49 what does it mean to be we? 00:48:10.52\00:48:13.22 Hey, who wants the dry dishes? 00:48:19.09\00:48:21.16 Can you reach back, 00:48:21.20\00:48:22.56 figure out the things you did yesterday, 00:48:22.60\00:48:23.97 make the adjustments that you need 00:48:24.00\00:48:25.97 and see if you can improve today. 00:48:26.00\00:48:27.54 In the meantime, 00:48:27.57\00:48:28.90 you're interacting with other people to make it work, 00:48:28.94\00:48:30.81 you're doing team work. 00:48:30.84\00:48:32.17 I mean, these are the things that industry wants. 00:48:32.21\00:48:33.68 These are things that business wishes 00:48:33.71\00:48:36.04 teachers and schools would instill in their kids. 00:48:36.08\00:48:39.51 Cooperation, and innovation, and having a goal, 00:48:39.55\00:48:44.89 and then finding your resources 00:48:44.92\00:48:46.39 and working them out to make it happen, 00:48:46.42\00:48:48.72 and then evaluating how that's going to turn out, 00:48:48.76\00:48:50.79 and then making the adjustments that you need, 00:48:50.83\00:48:52.79 do critical thinking. 00:48:52.83\00:48:54.60 Once I found these trails 00:48:54.63\00:48:56.26 and found out that they existed. 00:48:56.30\00:48:57.63 As an adult I was surprised they were there, still there, 00:48:57.67\00:48:59.87 but they're disappearing fast. 00:48:59.90\00:49:01.50 And I became acquainted 00:49:01.54\00:49:02.87 with an Oregon California Trails Association, 00:49:02.90\00:49:05.54 who started 30 years ago. 00:49:05.57\00:49:08.14 And their purpose was to identify these trails 00:49:08.18\00:49:11.31 and educate people about it 00:49:11.35\00:49:12.68 and maybe try to preserve them if they could. 00:49:12.71\00:49:14.58 So it's bigger than just me 00:49:14.62\00:49:15.95 taking kids out on these trails, 00:49:15.98\00:49:17.32 it's bigger than that. 00:49:17.35\00:49:18.69 It reaches out to other people of the country in the world. 00:49:18.72\00:49:21.66 This is a national, not a national, 00:49:21.69\00:49:23.99 this was a world movement. 00:49:24.03\00:49:26.09 The whole world can identify with this. 00:49:26.13\00:49:27.73 It was unique in the history of the world 00:49:27.76\00:49:29.10 and that affected the world, that migration to the West. 00:49:29.13\00:49:34.07 '62. 1948. 00:49:34.10\00:49:37.27 We had a way harder 00:49:37.31\00:49:38.64 but I think we're getting to a pretty good hill 00:49:38.67\00:49:40.61 like since we're used to our 21st century, 00:49:40.64\00:49:43.31 this is like the way stretching us. 00:49:43.35\00:49:45.51 And I think I'm getting a pretty good feel 00:49:45.55\00:49:47.25 how they felt, 00:49:47.28\00:49:48.62 how exhausted they were each day, 00:49:48.65\00:49:49.98 and like how dirty they were 00:49:50.02\00:49:52.05 and how they really didn't care if they... 00:49:52.09\00:49:54.06 People's hands are dirty 00:49:54.09\00:49:55.42 and they were just catching food and eating it. 00:49:55.46\00:49:57.36 It was pretty and it was, I feel we're thankful to that. 00:49:57.39\00:50:01.56 'Cause you have got to survive this desert to get to there, 00:50:01.60\00:50:04.50 then when they go out into what they call the real world, 00:50:04.53\00:50:07.04 it appears real. 00:50:07.07\00:50:08.40 Well, I science today, I'm doing math right now, 00:50:08.44\00:50:09.97 I need to do a little bit of Latin language right now. 00:50:10.01\00:50:13.31 When students going down the wagon train, 00:50:13.34\00:50:15.14 they're not aware that they're doing math, and science, 00:50:15.18\00:50:17.05 and history but they are. 00:50:17.08\00:50:18.55 They're doing in such a natural way 00:50:18.58\00:50:19.91 that feels like life. 00:50:19.95\00:50:21.82 That's what the wagon trip is, that's real life. 00:50:21.85\00:50:24.39 And I even simulated it into real life 00:50:24.42\00:50:26.82 and environment becomes the teacher. 00:50:26.86\00:50:28.56 As you can see, 00:50:46.64\00:50:47.98 that is one of the suggested ways of 00:50:48.01\00:50:51.15 getting your people back to a normal, 00:50:51.18\00:50:53.62 functioning, thinking state in life. 00:50:53.65\00:50:56.52 But, Scott, just kind of summarize, 00:50:56.55\00:50:59.12 we have some ways of participating 00:50:59.15\00:51:01.12 in keeping Little Light going and growing. 00:51:01.16\00:51:02.99 Talk about that?
