All right, neighboring state. 00:03:19.06\00:03:20.53 Hoosier state. another Larry Bird in the making, you know, so... 00:03:27.17\00:03:30.61 For sure but appreciate you being here 00:03:30.64\00:03:33.14 and you got a couple of young guys with you 00:03:33.17\00:03:34.74 from the school and we're gonna talk to them 00:03:34.78\00:03:36.64 a little bit later on 00:03:36.68\00:03:38.21 but before we get into any more of this, 00:03:38.25\00:03:40.48 we're gonna go to some music today 00:03:40.52\00:03:42.08 and we have one of my best friends 00:03:42.12\00:03:44.29 and buddies and brothers in the world 00:03:44.32\00:03:46.32 and also a very talented and gifted preacher 00:03:46.35\00:03:50.63 but also singer. 00:03:50.66\00:03:51.99 So CA Murray's gonna be singing, "Stand." 00:03:52.03\00:03:54.86 You just stand 00:04:14.25\00:04:18.22 When all your courage seems to fail 00:04:18.25\00:04:23.53 Stand, when it seems that evil will prevail 00:04:23.56\00:04:31.43 Stand, for He shows us in detail 00:04:31.47\00:04:38.04 That His love will never fail 00:04:38.07\00:04:41.18 And He'll stand with us 00:04:41.21\00:04:44.11 You just stand, 00:04:44.15\00:04:48.32 when you've said all that you can say 00:04:48.35\00:04:53.39 Stand, and trust the Lord to make a way 00:04:53.42\00:05:01.30 Stand, and live your life from day to day 00:05:01.33\00:05:07.97 Trust God to make a way 00:05:08.00\00:05:11.11 And then walk through it 00:05:11.14\00:05:14.58 For God has not given us the spirit of fear 00:05:14.61\00:05:18.71 He's given us love and power 00:05:18.75\00:05:24.15 The courage to resist the tempter's snare 00:05:24.19\00:05:30.06 Be not weary in doing well 00:05:30.09\00:05:33.63 For only time will tell 00:05:33.66\00:05:38.87 The work He's begun in you 00:05:38.90\00:05:42.57 Will help to see you through 00:05:42.60\00:05:45.67 You know God's word is true 00:05:45.71\00:05:48.71 And everything He promised He will do 00:05:48.74\00:05:52.88 So having done all to stand, 00:05:52.91\00:05:56.75 you just stand 00:05:56.79\00:06:02.92 You just stand, 00:06:02.96\00:06:07.00 when you feel no one's on your side 00:06:07.03\00:06:12.33 Stand, defy the urge to run and hide 00:06:12.37\00:06:19.97 Stand, though gloom and darkness override 00:06:20.01\00:06:26.72 Trust God to turn the tide 00:06:26.75\00:06:29.78 And pull you through it, 00:06:29.82\00:06:31.92 He'll do it In the name of Jesus, 00:06:31.95\00:06:34.86 Stand 00:06:34.89\00:06:37.06 For He is always there for you 00:06:37.09\00:06:42.00 Stand, and watch the Lord pull you through 00:06:42.03\00:06:49.80 Stand, and though you know not what to do 00:06:49.84\00:06:56.51 Know that He's looking out for you 00:06:56.54\00:07:00.15 And He won't fail you. 00:07:00.18\00:07:03.28 For God has not given us the spirit of fear 00:07:03.32\00:07:07.56 He's given us love and power 00:07:07.59\00:07:12.96 The courage to resist the tempter's snare 00:07:12.99\00:07:18.83 Be not weary in doing well 00:07:18.87\00:07:22.27 For only time will tell 00:07:22.30\00:07:27.64 The work He's begun in you 00:07:27.68\00:07:31.28 Will help to pull you through 00:07:31.31\00:07:34.15 You know God's word is true 00:07:34.18\00:07:37.32 And everything He promised He will do 00:07:37.35\00:07:41.59 So having done all to stand, 00:07:41.62\00:07:46.73 stand Plant your feet 00:07:46.76\00:07:53.37 and stand. 00:07:53.40\00:07:58.77 Thank you, Pastor Murray, beautiful "Stand." 00:08:06.25\00:08:09.55 Well, we're gonna talk about standing up for Jesus today 00:08:09.58\00:08:12.85 and again I've got David Canther, 00:08:12.89\00:08:14.62 we've got Peter Cousins, thank you all for being here. 00:08:14.66\00:08:17.43 We've talked a little bit about your ministry 00:08:17.46\00:08:19.89 and I saw when I was in Katrina, 00:08:19.93\00:08:22.93 a number of us when we said, you know, 00:08:22.96\00:08:24.97 you all are helping thousands and thousands of people 00:08:25.00\00:08:28.00 but not just the physical of giving the water 00:08:28.04\00:08:31.01 and giving the food and cutting, you know, 00:08:31.04\00:08:33.71 up the timber, 00:08:33.74\00:08:35.08 the trees that's falling on a rope 00:08:35.11\00:08:36.44 but the impact you make on people spiritually 00:08:36.48\00:08:40.02 and that's really what it's all about. 00:08:40.05\00:08:42.18 And so in fact, I read a little letter 00:08:42.22\00:08:45.09 that someone had written in the neighborhood 00:08:45.12\00:08:47.82 where you all were staying at a church 00:08:47.86\00:08:49.76 and the letter was talking about the young people, 00:08:49.79\00:08:54.06 how much respect they have, 00:08:54.10\00:08:55.80 not only for the people they were volunteering 00:08:55.83\00:08:57.97 and serving but each other. 00:08:58.00\00:08:59.90 So a neighbor from across from the Adventist Church said, 00:08:59.93\00:09:02.57 we've been watching and so in fact, 00:09:02.60\00:09:05.21 they've attended recently 00:09:05.24\00:09:06.81 and so it's really neat to see the kind of organizations 00:09:06.84\00:09:10.58 and the people that you surround yourself with. 00:09:10.61\00:09:13.25 So, David, tell us a little bit 00:09:13.28\00:09:14.85 about some of your latest things 00:09:14.88\00:09:17.09 that's been happening, we wanna get to Matthew, 00:09:17.12\00:09:18.75 that's one of most recent 00:09:18.79\00:09:20.16 but I understand you've been in the Philippines also... 00:09:20.19\00:09:22.66 Yes, and, Danny, 00:09:22.69\00:09:24.03 I love what you are just sharing when it... 00:09:24.06\00:09:26.49 You know, when the Bible talks about standing 00:09:26.53\00:09:29.10 for our Savior through a sermon ensues 00:09:29.13\00:09:32.23 the gospel is best illustrated when we show our love, 00:09:32.27\00:09:35.27 Jesus' love to meet the needs of people first. 00:09:35.30\00:09:38.01 And when He met those needs, their hearts were open, 00:09:38.04\00:09:40.44 so the testimony you were just sharing is powerful 00:09:40.48\00:09:42.78 because, here's a teenager and their family 00:09:42.81\00:09:45.38 who lived right across the street from a church 00:09:45.41\00:09:47.32 that hasn't grown in years, okay? 00:09:47.35\00:09:49.85 And they're trying to figure how can we grow? 00:09:49.88\00:09:51.95 Well, now when the storm comes 00:09:51.99\00:09:53.36 and we refuse to let Satan have the last word. 00:09:53.39\00:09:56.32 You bring in youth who are trained, 00:09:56.36\00:09:58.23 they're highly skilled and they get networking, 00:09:58.26\00:10:01.00 helping out these people. 00:10:01.03\00:10:02.73 Lo and behold, they come to church. 00:10:02.76\00:10:05.40 And so it happens over and over throughout the years, 00:10:05.43\00:10:07.94 we've been in over a 100 deployments down 00:10:07.97\00:10:09.90 and around the world. 00:10:09.94\00:10:11.47 I'm an adject with Harvard in their program of disaster. 00:10:11.51\00:10:15.94 Medicine taking doctors and but, you know, 00:10:15.98\00:10:18.91 the amazing thing is the more and more 00:10:18.95\00:10:21.48 we live in the last days, 00:10:21.52\00:10:22.85 storms are increasing as the Bible tells us. 00:10:22.88\00:10:25.25 But remember, Jesus says to prepare now 00:10:25.29\00:10:28.32 and too often people are praying 00:10:28.36\00:10:30.43 that they don't happen which is contrary to the Bible. 00:10:30.46\00:10:33.50 So God says, "If you prepare now, 00:10:33.53\00:10:35.23 then you will be an effective witness in evangelism." 00:10:35.26\00:10:38.57 And this happens over and over of some of the testimonies 00:10:38.60\00:10:41.37 you're gonna hear today and our viewers, 00:10:41.40\00:10:43.61 of basically how that's happened 00:10:43.64\00:10:45.37 over 400, 000 volunteers. 00:10:45.41\00:10:47.68 So what used to be Acts World Relief 00:10:47.71\00:10:50.65 has now grown into those two divisions 00:10:50.68\00:10:52.61 and basically we try to emphasize 00:10:52.65\00:10:54.78 that Evangelism 3 Emergency Response 00:10:54.82\00:10:57.42 that you saw a lot in Katrina but, you know, the Philippines, 00:10:57.45\00:11:00.66 I mean, we're talking now typhoons are super typhoons, 00:11:00.69\00:11:03.93 they're happening 12 months a year 00:11:03.96\00:11:06.53 and because of that we're gonna show the first slide. 00:11:06.56\00:11:09.43 Showing basically in the Philippines, 00:11:09.46\00:11:11.53 we were just there a few months ago, 00:11:11.57\00:11:13.84 the Union Office, 00:11:13.87\00:11:15.20 the pastors, the teachers, volunteers, 00:11:15.24\00:11:17.11 we trained over 200 the last time we were there, 00:11:17.14\00:11:19.71 brought in over $14 million of resources to help them... 00:11:19.74\00:11:22.68 Wow. 00:11:22.71\00:11:24.05 But basically they're saying trainer pastors, 00:11:24.08\00:11:26.28 trainer teachers. 00:11:26.31\00:11:27.65 Steve Littell is shown in this particular picture 00:11:27.68\00:11:29.68 here, Steve is the head of Security 00:11:29.72\00:11:31.39 and Safety for McKee Foods. 00:11:31.42\00:11:33.59 Okay, all right. 00:11:33.62\00:11:35.19 There's a little box right here in front of the planter... 00:11:35.22\00:11:36.99 I see that. 00:11:37.03\00:11:38.36 McKee's has been helping working with us more and more. 00:11:38.39\00:11:41.10 In Hurricane Matthew, they sent 18 pallets, 00:11:41.13\00:11:43.83 you're gonna see a picture... 00:11:43.87\00:11:45.20 Oh, wow. Yeah. 00:11:45.23\00:11:46.57 In the second segment, 00:11:46.60\00:11:47.94 with us that a lot of our volunteers distribute it, 00:11:47.97\00:11:50.01 unwrapping a smile. 00:11:50.04\00:11:51.91 So it's about partnering together, 00:11:51.94\00:11:54.01 whether it's schools, 00:11:54.04\00:11:55.38 whether it's with the Heritage Academy 00:11:55.41\00:11:57.75 that have been featured many times in here, our youth, 00:11:57.78\00:12:00.45 Tri-City, many schools, 00:12:00.48\00:12:01.95 so there were five academies in this deployment. 00:12:01.98\00:12:04.39 But the Philippines is unusual, 00:12:04.42\00:12:06.45 in that we had that great training, 00:12:06.49\00:12:08.96 teaching them everything from spiritual 00:12:08.99\00:12:10.99 and emotional care to medical, 00:12:11.03\00:12:13.40 how to help people 00:12:13.43\00:12:14.76 and so you're trying to train 00:12:14.80\00:12:16.13 the holistic approach to training 00:12:16.16\00:12:18.43 because remember, preparedness is the main emphasis 00:12:18.47\00:12:21.17 that Jesus wants us to be prepared. 00:12:21.20\00:12:23.34 So that when you go out, 00:12:23.37\00:12:24.84 the youth understand how to work as a team, 00:12:24.87\00:12:27.01 safety and security over and over is stressed 00:12:27.04\00:12:30.11 and so to that, we're gonna show the next slide 00:12:30.15\00:12:34.22 and that kind of leads into Peter. 00:12:34.25\00:12:35.58 Okay. 00:12:35.62\00:12:36.95 And what he experienced in a most recent training 00:12:36.99\00:12:39.12 and how ironic it was, Peter, 00:12:39.15\00:12:41.02 share with us about this picture, 00:12:41.06\00:12:42.52 what it's illustrating 00:12:42.56\00:12:43.89 and what kind of a training happened with Jim Ingersoll 00:12:43.93\00:12:46.59 of the Southern Union Education training academies 00:12:46.63\00:12:49.43 but you hosted it right at your school. 00:12:49.46\00:12:50.87 That's right. 00:12:50.90\00:12:52.23 So this is actually our third event 00:12:52.27\00:12:54.47 that we have been involved in for training. 00:12:54.50\00:12:56.40 The second one, 00:12:56.44\00:12:57.77 that's been at Tri-City Christian Academy and... 00:12:57.81\00:13:00.14 Just a little side note, 00:13:00.18\00:13:01.51 when we built our school which is two years old now, 00:13:01.54\00:13:04.85 $6.3 million project, 00:13:04.88\00:13:06.61 we built it with service in mind 00:13:06.65\00:13:08.78 and we added showers, we had a different things 00:13:08.82\00:13:10.92 'cause we wanted people to be able to come and stay there 00:13:10.95\00:13:13.46 and do this kind of thing and other things as well, 00:13:13.49\00:13:15.82 so it was part of the mindset that went into the building. 00:13:15.86\00:13:17.99 So when Jim Ingersoll approached us 00:13:18.03\00:13:20.40 about having Heritage Academy come 00:13:20.43\00:13:22.03 and to do the training there, 00:13:22.06\00:13:23.57 we were all excited about it 'cause like I said, 00:13:23.60\00:13:25.23 just fit right into the mission of the board and what we had, 00:13:25.27\00:13:27.17 what we wanted, 00:13:27.20\00:13:28.54 what we had envisioned things happening there. 00:13:28.57\00:13:30.57 So the local fire department also got involved 00:13:30.61\00:13:35.48 with a simulation of a lightning strike, 00:13:35.51\00:13:38.55 for this particular picture that we were just looking at, 00:13:38.58\00:13:40.98 and Heritage Academy came in, they did the training, 00:13:41.02\00:13:43.95 their students were training our students 00:13:43.99\00:13:45.65 which was phenomenal. 00:13:45.69\00:13:47.12 We had other schools come in, 00:13:47.16\00:13:48.56 other junior academies and they stay on the floor 00:13:48.59\00:13:50.66 because that simulates the circumstances you have 00:13:50.69\00:13:53.73 when you go and serve, 00:13:53.76\00:13:55.10 we were 45 people sharing two showers. 00:13:55.13\00:13:58.37 Oh, wow. 00:13:58.40\00:13:59.73 Sleeping in a fellowship hall, okay, so... 00:13:59.77\00:14:01.10 Yeah. 00:14:01.14\00:14:02.47 Not a lot of adults will sign up for that 00:14:02.50\00:14:04.54 but kids will, right? 00:14:04.57\00:14:05.91 Just get them together and they're ready to go. 00:14:05.94\00:14:07.94 You don't have to explain a whole lot to them. 00:14:07.98\00:14:10.11 And so this simulates that, 00:14:10.15\00:14:12.38 they come and they stay on the gym floor 00:14:12.41\00:14:14.12 and then they go through 00:14:14.15\00:14:15.48 the intensive training with a cert. 00:14:15.52\00:14:17.52 It's about two day training, pretty intensive, 00:14:17.55\00:14:20.06 a lot of safety information is shared there, 00:14:20.09\00:14:21.86 it's very important for us 00:14:21.89\00:14:23.56 that the kids are very safe and know how to be safe. 00:14:23.59\00:14:28.30 And then we did the simulation on Friday 00:14:28.33\00:14:30.53 and the fire department came in, 00:14:30.57\00:14:32.40 Heritage Academy knows how to do what's called, 00:14:32.43\00:14:34.60 'Moulage' where they do the make up 00:14:34.64\00:14:36.60 and make the injuries look real. 00:14:36.64\00:14:39.11 Oh, okay, all right. 00:14:39.14\00:14:40.48 And Glenn, one of the... 00:14:40.51\00:14:42.58 Well, he is the head guy there in the High Point area 00:14:42.61\00:14:44.71 for organizing the event 00:14:44.75\00:14:47.75 told us in 20 years of doing this, 00:14:47.78\00:14:50.15 he's never seen wounds that look so real... 00:14:50.19\00:14:51.89 Wow. 00:14:51.92\00:14:53.25 He was just excited and amazed at what these... 00:14:53.29\00:14:56.26 And in very short time, like in an hour, 00:14:56.29\00:14:58.79 they had all this ready to go. 00:14:58.83\00:15:00.80 So these kids were phenomenal and so the kids are, 00:15:00.83\00:15:04.57 they get into this, right? 00:15:04.60\00:15:05.93 And they love to act, so they're yelling 00:15:05.97\00:15:08.40 and screaming and the fire people, 00:15:08.44\00:15:10.77 you know, the firemen, 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.14 they take them to a certain area 00:15:12.17\00:15:13.51 and say, 'stay here.' 00:15:13.54\00:15:14.88 Well, they don't stay there, right? 00:15:14.91\00:15:16.24 Okay, 'Where's my brother? 00:15:16.28\00:15:17.61 And they're wandering around, 00:15:17.65\00:15:18.98 they've got to them back and so they love that, 00:15:19.01\00:15:21.32 really it's a good outlet for the kids, it's hands on 00:15:21.35\00:15:23.99 and they get to see in action some of the stuff 00:15:24.02\00:15:25.85 they've been learning as the fire department 00:15:25.89\00:15:27.96 is doing the triage and then different things. 00:15:27.99\00:15:29.86 So it was very neat to be a part of that 00:15:29.89\00:15:32.06 and highlight of our year actually... 00:15:32.09\00:15:34.20 Amen, so when Matthew came along, 00:15:34.23\00:15:37.53 I know we can talk about some of that now 00:15:37.57\00:15:38.90 or you wanna wait till later. 00:15:38.93\00:15:40.27 Yep, go ahead. 00:15:40.30\00:15:41.64 But Matthew came along. So what did you actually do? 00:15:41.67\00:15:43.87 So a week after we did our training, 00:15:43.91\00:15:46.54 literally one week after... 00:15:46.57\00:15:47.91 Week after you trained. 00:15:47.94\00:15:49.28 David called us and said, 00:15:49.31\00:15:50.71 "Hey, you guys wanna put that training to use?" 00:15:50.75\00:15:53.62 So we were very excited about that. 00:15:53.65\00:15:56.28 So we said, "Sure." 00:15:56.32\00:15:57.65 So we got together, I got to... 00:15:57.69\00:16:00.26 This is a very, highlight of my year, 00:16:00.29\00:16:03.32 I got to say, I got to run a truck, 00:16:03.36\00:16:05.29 a 4250 truck, I usually drive a minivan. 00:16:05.33\00:16:07.96 All right. 00:16:08.00\00:16:09.33 And I got to drive it all way down to Florida upon a trail, 00:16:09.36\00:16:11.03 I was very excited about that, 00:16:11.07\00:16:12.40 we got to take our chainsaws and different things. 00:16:12.43\00:16:14.50 We got down there, we joined Heritage Academy, 00:16:14.54\00:16:16.47 so there were about 83 kids, high school kids, 00:16:16.50\00:16:20.91 9-12 that were down there participating, 00:16:20.94\00:16:23.04 we had three activities we basically did, 00:16:23.08\00:16:26.01 30 or so kids were able to go and do warehouse sorting 00:16:26.05\00:16:29.95 and food distribution 00:16:29.98\00:16:31.52 and the group that went up there, 00:16:31.55\00:16:33.52 the lady told us that in three days, 00:16:33.56\00:16:36.56 they did over 50,000 food basket things, 00:16:36.59\00:16:40.66 she said that's more than they do in three months. 00:16:40.70\00:16:42.20 Okay. 00:16:42.23\00:16:43.57 These kids went up there, in three days 00:16:43.60\00:16:44.93 and did more than they did in three months. 00:16:44.97\00:16:46.60 Then we had two other groups, 00:16:46.63\00:16:47.97 one group that went out cutting wood 00:16:48.00\00:16:49.87 which I was able to be with that group, 00:16:49.90\00:16:51.37 which I was really excited about that too. 00:16:51.41\00:16:52.74 I grew up cutting wood, 00:16:52.77\00:16:54.11 every Sunday was wood cutting day, 00:16:54.14\00:16:55.48 so I was all over that... 00:16:55.51\00:16:56.85 All right. 00:16:56.88\00:16:58.21 And then there was another group, 00:16:58.25\00:16:59.58 that went and did house mucks where they mucked out the homes 00:16:59.61\00:17:00.95 and that means they have to go in 00:17:00.98\00:17:02.32 after water damage and just... 00:17:02.35\00:17:03.69 Oh, sure. 00:17:03.72\00:17:05.05 Everything comes out, even sheet rock, floor, 00:17:05.09\00:17:07.12 cabinets, furniture, 00:17:07.16\00:17:08.62 they're mucking the house and they were doing good 00:17:08.66\00:17:11.19 if they did like two of those in a day and on for us, 00:17:11.23\00:17:14.96 for cutting the wood, 00:17:15.00\00:17:16.33 we would do like 4-9 homes in a day, 00:17:16.36\00:17:19.40 so it kind of intensity of house muck is pretty intense 00:17:19.43\00:17:23.47 but it was really neat 00:17:23.51\00:17:24.84 because this merged the skills of every ministry 00:17:24.87\00:17:30.98 I've ever done 00:17:31.01\00:17:32.38 and what I mean by that is I've been a teacher, 00:17:32.41\00:17:34.38 I've been a principal, 00:17:34.42\00:17:35.75 I've been a literature evangelist 00:17:35.78\00:17:37.82 and I was able to cut the wood, to go and find the need. 00:17:37.85\00:17:41.82 Here's the need, 00:17:41.86\00:17:43.19 you go in and these people have been told 00:17:43.22\00:17:44.56 it's gonna cost two to five thousand dollars 00:17:44.59\00:17:46.83 to have this work done that they don't have. 00:17:46.86\00:17:49.40 You come in and introduce yourself, 00:17:49.43\00:17:52.20 you go out there and you start working, 00:17:52.23\00:17:53.64 they are blown away, 00:17:53.67\00:17:55.60 that someone is here doing this for us. 00:17:55.64\00:17:57.24 You don't charge them? And she's sharing this with us. 00:18:40.85\00:18:42.42 She goes back in the house, teared up. 00:18:42.45\00:18:43.95 She can't finish the story. 00:18:43.99\00:18:45.79 We're just listening, we weren't, 00:18:45.82\00:18:47.52 we didn't have any special technique 00:18:47.56\00:18:49.59 that we had learned, you know, 00:18:49.62\00:18:50.96 I'm saying about how to deal with them, we just listened. 00:18:50.99\00:18:53.43 That's all we did was listen, listen and help and so, 00:18:53.46\00:18:57.73 when we got down which is what we did at every home, 00:18:57.77\00:18:59.60 we got together and we had prayer. 00:18:59.63\00:19:03.04 And then we'd have a Steps to Christ 00:19:03.07\00:19:04.47 and we would share again, very simple. 00:19:04.51\00:19:06.21 This is why we do what we do 00:19:06.24\00:19:07.88 and we hand it to them and leave it to them. 00:19:07.91\00:19:09.71 So the next day was church... 00:19:09.74\00:19:11.08 So you give them a book instead of a bill? 00:19:11.11\00:19:13.31 That's right. Okay. 00:19:13.35\00:19:15.72 I think anybody's gonna accept that. 00:19:15.75\00:19:17.59 That's right. 00:19:17.62\00:19:18.95 Well, the next day in church, 00:19:18.99\00:19:21.12 her friend's name was Jen 00:19:21.16\00:19:23.29 and Jen came up and talked to me 00:19:23.32\00:19:25.79 and she told me the rest of the story 00:19:25.83\00:19:27.33 which was really neat. 00:19:27.36\00:19:28.93 She said that, that Friday evening after we left, 00:19:28.96\00:19:31.27 she had come home, not home 00:19:31.30\00:19:32.63 but came to a Kay's home to visit 00:19:32.67\00:19:35.37 and when she walked in, 00:19:35.40\00:19:36.91 Kay was sitting in a chair reading that book we left, 00:19:36.94\00:19:39.01 she's reading Steps to Christ. 00:19:39.04\00:19:40.38 Oh, praise God. And it gets better. 00:19:40.41\00:19:42.41 So they get ready to have supper 00:19:42.44\00:19:44.51 and, normally, she said, 00:19:44.55\00:19:46.98 Kay has never wanted to pray with her. 00:19:47.02\00:19:48.42 She's asked her, will you pray... 00:19:48.45\00:19:50.25 Meal time or other times and she says, "No." 00:19:50.29\00:19:53.52 They're talking, talking, talking and they get ready 00:19:53.56\00:19:56.09 and Jen says, "Can I have my prayer before I eat?" 00:19:56.12\00:19:59.36 and she said, 00:19:59.39\00:20:00.73 "Why don't we pray together this time?" 00:20:00.76\00:20:02.10 Oh, wow. 00:20:02.13\00:20:03.47 That Jen told me, 00:20:03.50\00:20:04.87 Jen teared up at church when she's telling me that. 00:20:04.90\00:20:06.74 She said, "Peter, she has never said, 00:20:06.77\00:20:10.07 'Let's pray together.' 00:20:10.11\00:20:11.47 " So that's the impact that this has, you know, 00:20:11.51\00:20:13.61 you come in and you look at what they need, 00:20:13.64\00:20:17.25 you fulfill that need by God's grace 00:20:17.28\00:20:20.48 and now the hearts are open, right? 00:20:20.52\00:20:22.68 The hearts are open and that's what's so powerful, 00:20:22.72\00:20:25.02 literature evangelism, teaching the students, 00:20:25.05\00:20:28.46 that's gonna be on here next is, 00:20:28.49\00:20:29.82 one of them is Nigah. 00:20:29.86\00:20:31.19 Anyone tell the story about Nigah 00:20:31.23\00:20:32.96 because we were at one home 00:20:32.99\00:20:35.46 and we've been giving the Steps to Christ, 00:20:35.50\00:20:37.07 we're getting ready to pray, he was next to me, 00:20:37.10\00:20:38.63 had the Steps to Christ in my hand 00:20:38.67\00:20:40.84 and he leans over and says, "Can I do this one?" 00:20:40.87\00:20:44.14 Okay. 00:20:44.17\00:20:45.51 So, so the kids are learning, right? 00:20:45.54\00:20:47.31 Yeah, absolutely. 00:20:47.34\00:20:48.68 They're learning by what we model to them. 00:20:48.71\00:20:50.05 So that's why, to me, this was so powerful, 00:20:50.08\00:20:51.81 it was so powerful to be the hands and feet of Jesus 00:20:51.85\00:20:55.18 and to see the hearts open up as you minister in this way. 00:20:55.22\00:20:59.32 Yeah, you know, David. 00:20:59.35\00:21:02.02 When we hear this, the amount of money 00:21:02.06\00:21:04.73 that you're talking about 00:21:04.76\00:21:06.26 because you're just kind of throwing out, 00:21:06.29\00:21:08.13 while the food packing more than they've done 00:21:08.16\00:21:11.03 and it takes three months. 00:21:11.07\00:21:12.77 You know, thousands of meals. 00:21:12.80\00:21:16.44 Millions of dollars that from the Philippines 00:21:16.47\00:21:19.57 whether it's here around, you must be a wealthy guy. 00:21:19.61\00:21:23.04 Yeah, that's, you know, 00:21:23.08\00:21:24.41 and I praise God when people say that to me. 00:21:24.45\00:21:26.15 Yeah. 00:21:26.18\00:21:27.52 And I say, "Man, you know, the image is powerful." 00:21:27.55\00:21:30.75 Yeah. 00:21:30.79\00:21:32.12 But, Danny, you know, 00:21:32.15\00:21:33.49 you and I can both relate to this journey of life. 00:21:33.52\00:21:35.49 It's a faith ministry, we're not a part of the, 00:21:35.52\00:21:40.33 let's say, church structure, Yeah, organisation, sure. 00:21:40.36\00:21:43.63 where basically, we're supporting ministry, 00:21:43.67\00:21:45.60 it is by faith. 00:21:45.63\00:21:47.00 Now actually in the last hurricane 00:21:47.04\00:21:49.20 with Matthew, you have to be very careful 00:21:49.24\00:21:51.37 because when you were out there with us in Katrina, 00:21:51.41\00:21:55.58 it was literally costing us 60, 000 a day 00:21:55.61\00:21:58.01 in that deployment, that's by faith. 00:21:58.05\00:22:00.02 Yes. 00:22:00.05\00:22:01.38 When you have no real donors 00:22:01.42\00:22:05.35 that are a part of an organization, 00:22:05.39\00:22:07.82 it's really by faith. 00:22:07.86\00:22:09.56 So hurricane Matthew, 00:22:09.59\00:22:10.93 it's like Jim would call me and he say, 00:22:10.96\00:22:12.39 "Can you send an, you know, 00:22:12.43\00:22:13.76 one of your mobile kitchens and your shower trailer and, 00:22:13.80\00:22:16.73 you know, other trucks and what not." 00:22:16.77\00:22:18.60 And I said, "Yes, Jim, we can but I need to tell you. 00:22:18.63\00:22:22.20 I just talked to my accountant, 00:22:22.24\00:22:24.24 we put the word out there on our faithful donors, 00:22:24.27\00:22:27.38 $200 is coming." 00:22:27.41\00:22:28.74 Okay? 00:22:28.78\00:22:30.25 So there's this challenge you face. 00:22:30.28\00:22:33.68 You know, even here at 3ABN, 00:22:33.72\00:22:35.45 you're always trying to say, "Oh Lord." 00:22:35.48\00:22:36.82 Always. 00:22:36.85\00:22:38.19 You know, it's one day at a time 00:22:38.22\00:22:39.55 and so some people like to say, "Oh, Pastor, 00:22:39.59\00:22:42.52 are you making so much money and you must be wealthy 00:22:42.56\00:22:44.89 and created this thing to make money." 00:22:44.93\00:22:46.80 You and I both know, 00:22:46.83\00:22:48.16 we face a lot of that criticism, 00:22:48.20\00:22:50.20 on the positive side though, we respond back positively, 00:22:50.23\00:22:53.03 we thank people for their donations. 00:22:53.07\00:22:55.17 I make literally less than I did as a pastor 00:22:55.20\00:22:57.37 for 32 years now. 00:22:57.41\00:22:58.74 Yeah. 00:22:58.77\00:23:00.11 So what I do though is it's a faith ministry, 00:23:00.14\00:23:03.91 I restore classic cars, homes that supports ministry. 00:23:03.95\00:23:08.98 Okay. 00:23:09.02\00:23:10.35 So you see the Bible talks about this, 00:23:10.39\00:23:12.29 it gets into our hearts, we do it for a passion to help. 00:23:12.32\00:23:16.12 And so I do appeal to our donors 00:23:16.16\00:23:18.56 because we don't have levels of bureaucracy 00:23:18.59\00:23:20.80 and administration and salaries. 00:23:20.83\00:23:24.27 We operated like out of 1% cost and so the money, 00:23:24.30\00:23:28.07 it's going directly into young people's lives, 00:23:28.10\00:23:30.97 changing their lives and, yes, 00:23:31.01\00:23:33.58 we wish we could pull out a lot other things and feed, 00:23:33.61\00:23:35.98 we could have fed thousands of people 00:23:36.01\00:23:37.58 with the mobile kitchens, 00:23:37.61\00:23:39.21 didn't have the financing to do it. 00:23:39.25\00:23:41.25 And so you do what you can do by faith 00:23:41.28\00:23:44.02 but you're always trying to straddle that, 00:23:44.05\00:23:46.02 you know, how far do you go but it is an opportunity 00:23:46.05\00:23:50.99 for donors to understand that if you wanna help ministry 00:23:51.03\00:23:53.40 and maybe, it's not even at dollars, 00:23:53.43\00:23:55.50 maybe you have a classic car, a vintage car, 00:23:55.53\00:23:58.20 a home or something that you haven't donated to 3ABN 00:23:58.23\00:24:01.97 and, you know, you'd like... 00:24:02.00\00:24:03.94 Because it's all networking, it's working together 00:24:03.97\00:24:06.64 and so you guys have graciously, 00:24:06.68\00:24:09.38 really more than anyone else help support this ministry. 00:24:09.41\00:24:13.88 When donations have come to you, you pass them on to us. 00:24:13.92\00:24:16.99 That's all about working together. 00:24:17.02\00:24:18.89 It's about networking together. 00:24:18.92\00:24:20.72 It's about letting people know 00:24:20.76\00:24:22.39 what the reality is of credibility, 00:24:22.42\00:24:25.59 of being transparent. 00:24:25.63\00:24:29.10 We can talk about at the end, 00:24:29.13\00:24:30.47 "Why millennials are searching for ministries 00:24:30.50\00:24:34.47 and the church to become involved 00:24:34.50\00:24:35.94 and why they're leaving the church?" 00:24:35.97\00:24:37.44 They want relevancy. 00:24:37.47\00:24:39.47 They want transparency but they want to be involved. 00:24:39.51\00:24:42.64 And so, you at 3ABN and we are the same in many ways. 00:24:42.68\00:24:47.02 There's a lot of similarity. We both use volunteers. 00:24:47.05\00:24:51.29 The salaries are not what attracts people to us... 00:24:51.32\00:24:53.62 Right, absolutely. 00:24:53.66\00:24:55.09 And God blesses that paradigm shift. 00:24:55.12\00:24:57.49 Yeah. 00:24:57.53\00:24:58.86 Well, what we have in common is the mission, 00:24:58.89\00:25:02.23 taking the Gospel to the world. 00:25:02.26\00:25:03.60 Yes. 00:25:03.63\00:25:04.97 And then being able to realize that there's some hands 00:25:05.00\00:25:08.54 and some feet and some mouth and, you know, 00:25:08.57\00:25:11.47 all of this together make up the body of Christ. 00:25:11.51\00:25:14.64 And so you can do things and you're prepared 00:25:14.68\00:25:17.51 and trained to do things we can't do and vice versa, 00:25:17.55\00:25:20.72 we can help let people know what you're doing... 00:25:20.75\00:25:22.78 Yes. 00:25:22.82\00:25:24.15 So they'll have the opportunity to support you financially 00:25:24.19\00:25:27.42 and so what I've seen over the years, 00:25:27.46\00:25:29.49 the things now, tell us a little bit about Haiti, 00:25:29.52\00:25:31.99 I mean, you're not just here in the States, 00:25:32.03\00:25:33.96 you started in the States 00:25:34.00\00:25:35.33 but you continue to grow into other areas. 00:25:35.36\00:25:38.60 Yes, the tragedy is, the reality is 00:25:38.63\00:25:41.37 I don't like to look at it, 00:25:41.40\00:25:42.74 it's all bad and negative in the sense that God says, 00:25:42.77\00:25:46.54 "It's gonna happen in the end, it will increase, be prepared." 00:25:46.57\00:25:50.65 And so Haiti actually was much worse 00:25:50.68\00:25:52.91 than it affected the U.S. 00:25:52.95\00:25:54.82 Haiti was devastated 00:25:54.85\00:25:56.48 and I've been to Haiti 38 times, 00:25:56.52\00:25:58.75 helping with a lot of response, you know, I was even reminded, 00:25:58.79\00:26:04.23 this little testimony is from Dr. Scott Nelson from Haiti. 00:26:04.26\00:26:08.03 He was the lead poster child at Loma Linda, 00:26:08.06\00:26:10.80 that we came in and supported with Haiti 00:26:10.83\00:26:13.20 and here we brought over 00:26:13.23\00:26:14.57 7000 medical care providers in to Haiti... 00:26:14.60\00:26:16.67 Seven thousand. 00:26:16.71\00:26:18.04 Two were Adventist Hospital helping support him 00:26:18.07\00:26:20.68 'cause he was really the lead Doc, 00:26:20.71\00:26:22.04 orthopedic surgeon. 00:26:22.08\00:26:24.01 He wrote this letter and he said, 00:26:24.05\00:26:25.95 just a few highlights he said, now he wrote this last year. 00:26:25.98\00:26:28.38 This is, you know, 00:26:28.42\00:26:29.75 this is a number of years after the earthquake. 00:26:29.78\00:26:31.82 And he says, "There are many things, 00:26:31.85\00:26:33.59 you know, in 2010 when that happened. 00:26:33.62\00:26:35.96 Although, you know, 00:26:35.99\00:26:37.76 David and his team were the first to arrive, 00:26:37.79\00:26:39.39 he certainly was not the first to leave. 00:26:39.43\00:26:41.93 He led a well organized team of people 00:26:41.96\00:26:44.10 and briefings in the morning and evenings 00:26:44.13\00:26:46.23 and utilized his volunteers 00:26:46.27\00:26:47.80 in a efficient and effective manner, 00:26:47.84\00:26:50.17 collaboration left a lasting imprint in my mind 00:26:50.21\00:26:52.84 of his unique and impressive capabilities." 00:26:52.87\00:26:54.98 So in other words, 00:26:55.01\00:26:56.34 it's all about that thing of networking, 00:26:56.38\00:26:58.21 working together. 00:26:58.25\00:26:59.58 None of us are anything by ourselves 00:26:59.61\00:27:01.25 but we all bring a little significant drip 00:27:01.28\00:27:03.89 but when we unite together, it's powerful. 00:27:03.92\00:27:07.29 It's life changing, so, Haiti, yes, hurricane Matthew, 00:27:07.32\00:27:11.53 full strength as it hit into Haiti, 00:27:11.56\00:27:14.46 a category four- five right in there, 00:27:14.50\00:27:16.70 about the worst you can get 00:27:16.73\00:27:18.07 but this time it hit not Port au Prince, 00:27:18.10\00:27:20.17 not around the Adventist Hospital, 00:27:20.20\00:27:21.84 remote area. 00:27:21.87\00:27:23.77 These people are lucky to make it by road 00:27:23.81\00:27:25.97 before a storm, out to their, you know, 00:27:26.01\00:27:28.21 remote villages but a very unique people, 00:27:28.24\00:27:31.25 only 20% of the people in this area 00:27:31.28\00:27:33.85 had drinkable water, 20% of your children, families, 00:27:33.88\00:27:37.62 when the hurricane Matthew hit, 00:27:37.65\00:27:39.25 it brought it down to 0, 0% had drinking water which means, 00:27:39.29\00:27:44.83 lot of the ones that you heard of dying 00:27:44.86\00:27:47.53 were because of lack of water and food. 00:27:47.56\00:27:49.43 What a shame. 00:27:49.46\00:27:50.80 Okay, so in other words, they have their drinking water 00:27:50.83\00:27:53.17 that you and I would not drink 00:27:53.20\00:27:54.90 and they drink and they get diarrhea too. 00:27:54.94\00:27:58.07 So the mothers that are drinking that, 00:27:58.11\00:28:00.01 they give diarrhea to their children, 00:28:00.04\00:28:01.51 their children die. 00:28:01.54\00:28:03.01 And so, the thousands of people, 00:28:03.04\00:28:06.48 actually the media only covered not even a half of those 00:28:06.51\00:28:10.12 who died but here you're talking about, 00:28:10.15\00:28:12.35 we sent in a mental health team first of all, 00:28:12.39\00:28:14.89 'cause we've been there many times training. 00:28:14.92\00:28:16.89 In the past, you know, I had like 45 translators 00:28:16.93\00:28:19.79 after the earthquake but going many times training, a lot of, 00:28:19.83\00:28:23.57 another one of our partners, as World Vision, ADRA. 00:28:23.60\00:28:28.34 World Vision has been one of, you know, 00:28:28.37\00:28:30.27 1400 Adventists employed by World Vision, 00:28:30.31\00:28:33.68 tremendous networking together. 00:28:33.71\00:28:35.64 But basically training a lot of the youth of Haiti to respond 00:28:35.68\00:28:39.41 'cause they are the first responders, 00:28:39.45\00:28:41.18 they're there and they kicked into action, 00:28:41.22\00:28:43.49 trained the whole staff at World Vision office, 00:28:43.52\00:28:45.45 they kicked into action helping, 00:28:45.49\00:28:46.99 we brought in a team of specialists 00:28:47.02\00:28:48.52 they requested once again 00:28:48.56\00:28:50.06 and they just came out about a week ago. 00:28:50.09\00:28:52.66 We're going back in with a medical team, 00:28:52.69\00:28:55.23 we've helped millions and millions of dollars 00:28:55.26\00:28:56.73 in Haiti 00:28:56.77\00:28:58.10 but they're suffering right now. 00:28:58.13\00:28:59.50 So if our donors wanna help things like that once again, 00:28:59.53\00:29:03.17 no administration levels, we go and we help the people, 00:29:03.20\00:29:06.54 they can see a direct cause and effect. 00:29:06.57\00:29:08.21 In just a minute or two, 00:29:08.24\00:29:09.58 we're gonna put an address up on the screen 00:29:09.61\00:29:11.18 rather than wait till the end and be sure, 00:29:11.21\00:29:14.15 if you get a pencil and paper or something 00:29:14.18\00:29:15.78 that you can get this address, but I wanna ask you a question, 00:29:15.82\00:29:18.65 I don't know if anyone's ever asked you this or not. 00:29:18.69\00:29:21.42 You said, you were a pastor, for how many years? 00:29:21.46\00:29:23.69 Thirty two years. Thirty two years. 00:29:23.73\00:29:25.36 Now as a pastor, you had a body, 00:29:25.39\00:29:28.86 you had a membership, a church. 00:29:28.90\00:29:31.10 How would you compare what you're doing now 00:29:31.13\00:29:35.87 as compared to the 32 years of preaching to church members 00:29:35.90\00:29:41.98 in general versus preaching 00:29:42.01\00:29:45.68 basically to the world in general 00:29:45.71\00:29:48.38 through this type health ministry 00:29:48.42\00:29:51.59 versus just word ministry? 00:29:51.62\00:29:54.69 It's a powerful ministry, 00:29:54.72\00:29:56.12 my wife reminds me when I say I was a pastor for 30... 00:29:56.16\00:29:59.49 She says, "Now you're still a pastor." 00:29:59.53\00:30:01.23 And so I have to be careful, 00:30:01.26\00:30:02.60 pastor of a congregation like you're... 00:30:02.63\00:30:04.27 But a different type. 00:30:04.30\00:30:05.63 It's a different type, this ministry is global, 00:30:05.67\00:30:08.74 in the sense that I love youth. 00:30:08.77\00:30:10.61 I love... 00:30:10.64\00:30:12.14 Let's say a group of physicians came in with hurricane Matthew, 00:30:12.17\00:30:14.71 they called me and they said, "We have planes, 00:30:14.74\00:30:17.41 we have our own planes, we have our own chainsaws, 00:30:17.45\00:30:19.38 we love doing this. 00:30:19.41\00:30:20.88 We're anesthesiologists and if you clear and screen, 00:30:20.92\00:30:26.86 where we know our time is well invested to take off 00:30:26.89\00:30:29.49 to fly and to do it." 00:30:29.52\00:30:30.86 Those are the kind of volunteers that sign up. 00:30:30.89\00:30:32.39 Wow. 00:30:32.43\00:30:33.76 So in other words, if you make sure 00:30:33.80\00:30:35.80 that their time is well spent and they leave fulfilled, 00:30:35.83\00:30:38.83 when youth by the thousands, over 400,000 volunteers, 00:30:38.87\00:30:41.80 when they have fulfilled lives in Jesus Christ, 00:30:41.84\00:30:45.07 they've helped somebody, to me, that is a ministry 00:30:45.11\00:30:48.14 that is so powerful it makes me cry 00:30:48.18\00:30:50.41 because I see how God in His goodness, in His mercy, 00:30:50.45\00:30:54.48 that we're able to unite together in a ministry 00:30:54.52\00:30:57.15 that helps people in a very tangible way 00:30:57.19\00:30:59.55 but like Peter was sharing it opens up into the spiritual 00:30:59.59\00:31:02.02 because we're very intentional about that 00:31:02.06\00:31:04.06 and we could name many people ever baptized 00:31:04.09\00:31:06.66 and joined the church. 00:31:06.70\00:31:08.03 But I like to take it back to our youth, 00:31:08.06\00:31:09.93 when I was a little guy, 00:31:09.96\00:31:11.40 the preacher would beat on the pulp and say, 00:31:11.43\00:31:13.03 "Youth are leaving the church." 00:31:13.07\00:31:14.40 And I'd go up to him after and I go, 00:31:14.44\00:31:15.90 "What are we doing here to make that difference? 00:31:15.94\00:31:18.01 Why we wanna stay?" 00:31:18.04\00:31:19.37 Rather than telling us that we're all leaving. 00:31:19.41\00:31:20.81 So to me it was all about, when I was a pastor, 00:31:20.84\00:31:23.11 our church was about the community. 00:31:23.14\00:31:25.68 When I came there, we only had one family in the church, 00:31:25.71\00:31:28.92 12 years later, when I began doing this, 00:31:28.95\00:31:32.45 we had five services going, 00:31:32.49\00:31:34.32 we had a over a hundred ministries 00:31:34.36\00:31:35.69 going on in the community. 00:31:35.72\00:31:37.06 Wow. 00:31:37.09\00:31:38.43 So church growth happens through practical evangelism. 00:31:38.46\00:31:41.96 And it's watching this in the lives of youth, 00:31:42.00\00:31:45.07 you see this is a church they know, 00:31:45.10\00:31:46.57 it's to get out and help people. 00:31:46.60\00:31:48.50 Other youth go, "We're not involved." 00:31:48.54\00:31:50.47 Millennials say, "If we're not involved, 00:31:50.51\00:31:51.84 we're leaving the church." 00:31:51.87\00:31:53.21 So it is making that impact, 00:31:53.24\00:31:55.71 when donors see how they're changing the lives of those 00:31:55.74\00:31:59.65 who served first and then in the lives of that community, 00:31:59.68\00:32:04.32 we entitled actually this broadcast 00:32:04.35\00:32:06.22 because the pastor and I were talking about this 00:32:06.25\00:32:08.52 in St Augustine, a retired Church, 00:32:08.56\00:32:10.99 hardly no young people and we called it 00:32:11.03\00:32:13.43 'Revival Amongst Hurricane Matthew Rubble.' 00:32:13.46\00:32:16.56 The pastor saw a revival happen in his church 00:32:16.60\00:32:19.87 who really didn't want us to come there, 00:32:19.90\00:32:21.54 about 50% of churches 00:32:21.57\00:32:23.04 do not want you to come to their church, 00:32:23.07\00:32:25.04 it might hurt their paint, their grass, their something... 00:32:25.07\00:32:26.98 Oh, my... 00:32:27.01\00:32:28.34 Okay, 50%. 00:32:28.38\00:32:30.21 The pastor said, "I'm not gonna ask my board 00:32:30.25\00:32:32.61 because I'm pretty sure how they'll answer my request 00:32:32.65\00:32:36.28 about you coming and bringing a bunch of volunteers." 00:32:36.32\00:32:38.25 So he said, "I'm not gonna ask. 00:32:38.29\00:32:39.99 I'm gonna apologize." 00:32:40.02\00:32:42.06 Okay. 00:32:42.09\00:32:43.43 And so basically ask for their forgiveness. 00:32:43.46\00:32:44.79 Yeah. 00:32:44.83\00:32:46.16 But see, it caused revival in their church. 00:32:46.19\00:32:47.53 Sure. 00:32:47.56\00:32:48.90 And that's the kind of thing we see happen over and over, 00:32:48.93\00:32:51.33 that's ministry in a worldwide way. 00:32:51.37\00:32:53.94 Absolutely, and that's why it's important 00:32:53.97\00:32:56.10 for church leaders to understand that Jesus said, 00:32:56.14\00:33:00.28 "Go ye, and to all the world..." 00:33:00.31\00:33:02.34 to allow others to be involved, 00:33:02.38\00:33:04.85 as you're talking about the millennials, 00:33:04.88\00:33:06.72 if they're not involved, they're gonna leave. 00:33:06.75\00:33:08.95 Yes. 00:33:08.98\00:33:10.32 So we sometimes are so protective, 00:33:10.35\00:33:12.39 well, I don't know, maybe they're too young to do this 00:33:12.42\00:33:14.36 or maybe we can't put this responsibility. 00:33:14.39\00:33:16.22 That's right. 00:33:16.26\00:33:17.59 But we need to be in charge 00:33:17.63\00:33:19.06 and we're the root of our own problem 00:33:19.09\00:33:22.83 as to why we're not helping. 00:33:22.86\00:33:24.20 So thank you for opening our eyes and letting us know 00:33:24.23\00:33:26.87 that this is what we need to do, 00:33:26.90\00:33:28.60 young people to get involved. 00:33:28.64\00:33:30.37 They get grounded, they get rooted 00:33:30.41\00:33:32.21 and they continue then to do what we maybe just started, 00:33:32.24\00:33:35.94 you know. 00:33:35.98\00:33:37.31 And sometimes then to denominate 00:33:37.35\00:33:38.68 shell structure as you're aware, 00:33:38.71\00:33:40.45 sometimes control has to be an issue here, 00:33:40.48\00:33:43.02 unless everything happens through this department. 00:33:43.05\00:33:45.79 Yeah. It cannot happen. 00:33:45.82\00:33:47.16 Yeah, absolutely. 00:33:47.19\00:33:48.52 And we've rubbed against that for years in a way of saying, 00:33:48.56\00:33:50.36 "No, no, no." 00:33:50.39\00:33:51.73 So thankfully people within the Adventist denomination 00:33:51.76\00:33:55.00 have tried to expand their thinking saying, "Well, 00:33:55.03\00:33:58.10 you know, what they do is youth and schools. 00:33:58.13\00:34:00.84 So let's run through the education department." 00:34:00.87\00:34:03.20 In that way, it's not a perception of, 00:34:03.24\00:34:05.44 it has to be through another department 00:34:05.47\00:34:08.01 and so when we're out internationally, 00:34:08.04\00:34:09.91 if it's not through ADRA, 00:34:09.94\00:34:11.38 well, maybe it could be through something else. 00:34:11.41\00:34:13.98 People like choices. Sure. 00:34:14.02\00:34:15.62 And people like to know that 00:34:15.65\00:34:18.02 with some supporting organizations, 00:34:18.05\00:34:20.82 there's a much lower overhead 00:34:20.86\00:34:23.43 and they can be very effective than what they do in ministry. 00:34:23.46\00:34:26.19 All right. 00:34:26.23\00:34:27.56 What we're gonna do is, we want you to pray 00:34:27.60\00:34:29.53 and ask the Holy Spirit what He would have you to do 00:34:29.56\00:34:32.80 in support of this great organization, 00:34:32.83\00:34:34.80 so we're gonna put up the following address 00:34:34.84\00:34:37.17 and if the Holy Spirit's impressing, 00:34:37.21\00:34:39.11 you can send a donation 00:34:39.14\00:34:40.48 or you may just want to contact them 00:34:40.51\00:34:41.98 to find out more information. 00:34:42.01\00:34:46.88 GR3 International is a rescue and relief agency 00:34:46.92\00:34:50.15 who is deployed to over 105 Global Catastrophic Events. 00:34:50.19\00:34:54.29 GR3 places special emphasis on both Rescue Training 00:34:54.32\00:34:57.69 and Disaster Intervention. 00:34:57.73\00:34:59.56 You can write to them at GR3 International, 00:34:59.59\00:35:02.36 600 Citrus Avenue, Ft. Okay. 00:49:53.39\00:49:55.62 And so Dr. Molly thanked the team 00:49:55.66\00:49:57.83 for coming in and all that they did. 00:49:57.86\00:50:00.00 So that summarizes I think of ministry, 00:50:00.03\00:50:04.17 when you're trying to emphasize, 00:50:04.20\00:50:05.70 in order to do ministry, you need to be prepared. 00:50:05.73\00:50:08.30 You need to be trained. 00:50:08.34\00:50:10.21 So that you can be... 00:50:10.24\00:50:13.07 Jesus didn't call those disciples and say, 00:50:13.11\00:50:15.14 "I call you to be disciples and I guarantee safety." 00:50:15.18\00:50:18.31 Okay, you'll all be safe, 00:50:18.35\00:50:19.68 nothing will go wrong if you follow me. 00:50:19.71\00:50:22.05 And too often, sometimes structures look at, 00:50:22.08\00:50:25.92 "Oh, you can't do this and you can't do that for liability, 00:50:25.95\00:50:28.39 " somebody may, you know, 00:50:28.42\00:50:29.76 if liability is driving the mission of your church, 00:50:29.79\00:50:32.06 you're in trouble. 00:50:32.09\00:50:33.43 We overcame that years ago, 00:50:33.46\00:50:34.96 we worked with risk management in the Adventist realm 00:50:35.00\00:50:37.97 and we have our own, 00:50:38.00\00:50:39.67 actually it's the same company 00:50:39.70\00:50:41.04 that helps ensure risk management 00:50:41.07\00:50:43.41 and we said, "We want the best insurance policy 00:50:43.44\00:50:45.97 liability coverage you can have." 00:50:46.01\00:50:47.74 It only costs about a dollar and a half a day, 00:50:47.78\00:50:49.91 so when they're out, 00:50:49.94\00:50:51.28 if something goes wrong and it will, 00:50:51.31\00:50:53.85 that you have the best coverage also 00:50:53.88\00:50:56.42 and so we overcame that paranoia, 00:50:56.45\00:50:58.95 the fear factor of losing money to say, they could be covered. 00:50:58.99\00:51:03.02 They could be trained and we assure them 00:51:03.06\00:51:04.53 all the safety training we do. 00:51:04.56\00:51:06.26 We've worked together with risk management for years. 00:51:06.29\00:51:09.53 That's how you overcome obstacles. 00:51:09.56\00:51:11.83 So it's a neat thing when ministry, 00:51:11.87\00:51:13.44 you can look at a challenge 00:51:13.47\00:51:14.80 like you've done in 3ABN and say, 00:51:14.84\00:51:17.64 we can overcome that by faith in God. 00:51:17.67\00:51:20.44 Amen. 00:51:20.48\00:51:21.81 I don't know if they can put that last graphic back up 00:51:21.84\00:51:24.58 where they're standing in the yard praying. 00:51:24.61\00:51:26.88 But to me, I was wondering what would be the chances 00:51:26.92\00:51:30.82 if you went to your church on Sabbath and you said, 00:51:30.85\00:51:33.52 "Hey, let's go out this afternoon 00:51:33.56\00:51:35.12 and go and knock on this person's house 00:51:35.16\00:51:37.63 and get him come out in a yard 00:51:37.66\00:51:38.99 and hold hands and pray with you." 00:51:39.03\00:51:40.93 I mean, that's be almost zero, right? 00:51:40.96\00:51:42.66 'Cause nowadays people are guarded 00:51:42.70\00:51:45.47 and you don't just knock on doors 00:51:45.50\00:51:47.10 and get people but when there's, 00:51:47.14\00:51:48.84 there's emergencies like this or disasters 00:51:48.87\00:51:51.87 and you're there volunteering, look at this, 00:51:51.91\00:51:54.68 nobody's forcing these people, 00:51:54.71\00:51:56.51 now they say, "Wow, this is something." 00:51:56.54\00:51:59.91 And you're able to pray with people. 00:51:59.95\00:52:01.55 I mean, you couldn't just knock on doors 00:52:01.58\00:52:03.62 and get very many people to pray 00:52:03.65\00:52:06.12 with you or take books and read it. 00:52:06.15\00:52:08.29 So what an incredible ministry and I'm so glad, you guys, 00:52:08.32\00:52:11.66 at such a young age have got the vision 00:52:11.69\00:52:14.23 and you'll only, this will help you be even rooted more, 00:52:14.26\00:52:17.63 I would say grounded to find out, you know, 00:52:17.67\00:52:19.93 it's special to be able to help other people. 00:52:19.97\00:52:22.97 It's nice to get help when you need it 00:52:23.00\00:52:25.51 but God blesses those, I believe, 00:52:25.54\00:52:27.94 the blessing may always say is on the go. 00:52:27.98\00:52:29.74 When you go and you're willing to help others, 00:52:29.78\00:52:32.61 then God blesses you in many, many other ways. 00:52:32.65\00:52:35.22 So we're gonna pray God's richest blessings on you guys 00:52:35.25\00:52:38.75 in your schooling and as you get a little older, 00:52:38.79\00:52:41.06 should the Lord tarry, 00:52:41.09\00:52:42.42 you may be taking David's place one of these times, who knows. 00:52:42.46\00:52:44.99 That's right and that's what our ministry is about 00:52:45.03\00:52:46.46 is letting those that you've trained take over leadership, 00:52:46.49\00:52:49.26 that's what it's all about. 00:52:49.30\00:52:50.63 Absolutely. 00:52:50.67\00:52:52.00 I'm taking away your job 'Millennials versus Retired.' 00:52:52.03\00:52:55.04 Millennials want relevancy, 00:52:55.07\00:52:56.74 they want transparency and they want to be involved. 00:52:56.77\00:52:59.64 This ministry does exactly that, 00:52:59.67\00:53:01.94 your ministry here at 3ABN does that too 00:53:01.98\00:53:04.71 and so getting people involved where the action counts. 00:53:04.75\00:53:08.25 Absolutely. 00:53:08.28\00:53:09.62 And so millennials want to see a church 00:53:09.65\00:53:10.99 that is out there doing things to help others, 00:53:11.02\00:53:14.86 less administration, more ministry. 00:53:14.89\00:53:17.16 Absolutely. All right. 00:53:17.19\00:53:18.53 What we're gonna do, 00:53:18.56\00:53:19.89 we're gonna take a short break for just a moment, 00:53:19.93\00:53:21.73 we'll be back with a closing thought. 00:53:21.76\00:53:23.23
