baptized in the church,

California back in those days,

and I would go into
the retirement homes

and to the prisons

and they were like
a captive audience.

And so they had no other
choice but to listen to me.

But I never thought

that anyone would
actually come out to a concert

to listen to me
sing but is this,

I'm still amazed
by what God is doing.

You know, I was raised
on the south side of Chicago

in a very gang and
drug infiltrated community.

And I lived only a few blocks

from the Shiloh
Seventh-day Adventist Church
00:11:54.41\00:11:56.14
which was a huge,
00:11:56.18\00:11:57.55
at that time a huge black church
00:11:57.58\00:11:59.51
on the south side there.

And no one ever
knocked on my door
00:12:01.35\00:12:03.02
except for the
Jehovah's Witness.

And so I had never heard

of the
Seventh-day Adventist church

until much later in my life.

But once I heard the truth,
I was converted immediately.

the demons right along with me.

reclay that I was drowning in,

so I didn't meet her
until much, much later

and finally I got a
phone call one day asking me,

for me to out to Hawaii

And so she arranged for

and originally I was
supposed to sing at a prison

and then one or two churches,

I ended up
singing in 22 churches.

And I spend about

I think five and a
half months in Hawaii.

with accept everybody

and learn about

Hawaii growing up,

I didn't even really realize it

but the people I love to be with

people that I was hanging around

that led me to the Lord

and from there I went
into the Weimar Institute.

and learned about
nutritional healing

and how God had
designed our bodies to be well

and to be self healing

supposed to be sick,

and he had a plan and food

that was designed for us
to live long and prosper.

I eventually went into

having the vegetarian

And from that
point we both were hired

to work in the
California state prisons.

And he was a chief physician

and I was a
public health director.

And so we've got into
prison ministry different,

in a different way
and he said one day

kind of holding back

and saying I'm just
fine here in Loma Linda

and I could to be
here the rest of my life,

and take classes all the time

and be around all these
wonderful churches and people.

then they want to pay us

we need to come out

and there is a
people here they need us.

prisons and I was just,

it was like when Jesus said
he was struck with compassion.

inmates in and their lives,

that I learned in my education

everything that I learn,

they were just dying
to know that information,

those health classes

that I learned at

and I just taught
them to the inmates.

I was supposed to be
there to do infectious disease,

public health

but on the side I was
teaching classes to inmates.

It eventually turned into

an inmate pure
education program.

And I was able to put that
into 33 prisons in California

teaching them how to,
about water, exercise,

they eat natural remedies,

and the inmates just love
to learn about these things

and practice them
and then come back

and tell me that they
just felt so much better

and took him to

throughout the church up
until he got to certain age

and the son
drifted away from God

and started to go out
to different nightclubs

and places where
Christians shouldn't be,

and somehow somewhere he
ended up on the other side.

And one night, late
at night and his son

and his father look
so much alike you know,

when you see the
son you saw the father,

you saw the
father, you saw the son.

And one night,

2 o'clock in the morning

there was a
urgent rap at the door

and the father came

And so finally he heard a
voice that said, dad it's me.

and realize it was
a son and embraced him

and the son fell to the floor

and covered with blood
from his head to his toes.

He says, dad, I killed
a man tonight at the bar

that I frequently go to.

He had a knife in
his hand and he says

and the police would
probably be here any minute now

because they saw
me as I drove off.

And father hurried
his son in the back then

and told him to take a shower,

change clothes and he
gave his son some money

take my car in the garage

and you drive as
far away from this place

as you possibly can.

And so the son said,
thank you dad and drove away.

changed into his son's clothes

and they arrested him,

was executed in his son's place.

Jesus has done for us
