Thank you. 00:05:02.76\00:05:05.70 Let's just maybe for our viewers 00:05:05.73\00:05:08.64 they may not know where Madagascar is, 00:05:08.67\00:05:11.97 they maybe heard the term, 00:05:12.01\00:05:13.34 you know, the country name 00:05:13.38\00:05:14.91 but help us to locate Madagascar on the globe. 00:05:14.94\00:05:21.15 Well, from somebody who lives in the United States 00:05:21.18\00:05:25.12 If you take a look at the continent of Africa 00:05:25.15\00:05:27.79 in the Indian Ocean just off the coast of 00:05:27.82\00:05:30.63 South Africa is the fourth largest island in the world. 00:05:30.66\00:05:33.83 Madagascar is humongous 00:05:33.86\00:05:35.63 and that's where Madagascar is in the Indian Ocean 00:05:35.66\00:05:38.43 just off the coast of South Africa. 00:05:38.47\00:05:40.30 It's an Island in the Indian Ocean. 00:05:40.34\00:05:43.04 It's a huge island. Yeah, huge island. 00:05:43.07\00:05:45.17 So just before our program 00:05:45.21\00:05:47.18 I looked on the map and if you would, 00:05:47.21\00:05:49.84 if you're in the United States 00:05:49.88\00:05:51.21 and your travel down to Texas 00:05:51.25\00:05:53.68 and then cross the border into Mexico, 00:05:53.72\00:05:56.42 and go on down to inner and then South America 00:05:56.45\00:05:59.42 and find Brazil. 00:05:59.45\00:06:01.12 If you go right across the ocean from Brazil 00:06:01.16\00:06:05.03 at least on the map it looked like 00:06:05.06\00:06:06.83 you would hit the continent of Africa. 00:06:06.86\00:06:08.83 And you'd have to cross the continent of Africa 00:06:08.86\00:06:11.47 and into the Indian Ocean 00:06:11.50\00:06:13.34 and then you would come to the island of Madagascar. 00:06:13.37\00:06:17.64 Now this is not a small island, it's about the size of... 00:06:17.67\00:06:21.14 It's about the size of Texas, the fourth largest island. 00:06:21.18\00:06:25.08 Fourth largest Island, okay. 00:06:25.11\00:06:27.35 And I asked you about 00:06:27.38\00:06:29.05 what the population of the island is. 00:06:29.08\00:06:31.22 Well, right now we are about 24 millions. 00:06:31.25\00:06:35.72 24 million. 00:06:35.76\00:06:37.09 That's the latest projection of population in Madagascar. 00:06:37.13\00:06:41.13 So it's about the size of Texas, 00:06:41.16\00:06:43.30 got about as many people as New York City. 00:06:43.33\00:06:47.00 Okay, that helps for perspective. 00:06:47.04\00:06:49.17 And then the church related 00:06:49.20\00:06:50.94 we have over 125, 000 members 00:06:50.97\00:06:57.45 in Madagascar alone. 00:06:57.48\00:06:58.81 Praise God. Yeah, praise the Lord. 00:06:58.85\00:07:00.52 I think of the Ellen White conference here, 00:07:00.55\00:07:02.68 where we're at 00:07:02.72\00:07:04.05 and we have about 11, 12, 000 members 00:07:04.09\00:07:06.76 and you have a 125,000. 00:07:06.79\00:07:09.22 And about 700 churches 00:07:09.26\00:07:12.39 not including companies and groups. 00:07:12.43\00:07:15.56 So there's a good work going on. 00:07:15.60\00:07:17.40 Yes, praise God for that. 00:07:17.43\00:07:18.93 Praise God. 00:07:18.97\00:07:20.60 Now there are some challenges particularly 00:07:20.64\00:07:23.51 thinking about the youth of Madagascar, 00:07:23.54\00:07:26.64 would one of you like to share 00:07:26.68\00:07:28.21 a little bit about the challenges? 00:07:28.24\00:07:30.45 Well, I can give my experience 00:07:30.48\00:07:33.01 and it really is a miracle how the Lord has blessed 00:07:33.05\00:07:36.82 and given me this opportunity 00:07:36.85\00:07:38.95 on my very first visit to Madagascar, 00:07:38.99\00:07:43.22 I saw and was witness to two occasions, 00:07:43.26\00:07:47.13 one at the hotel by the swimming pool 00:07:47.16\00:07:49.50 and another in the rainforest where I saw young girls, 00:07:49.53\00:07:53.13 minors being taken advantage of by much, 00:07:53.17\00:07:56.94 much older businessmen. 00:07:56.97\00:07:59.01 So those are the kinds of things 00:07:59.04\00:08:00.81 that are happening there. 00:08:00.84\00:08:02.41 So that developed in your heart a burden for the youth 00:08:02.44\00:08:06.78 and particularly the young women and girls. 00:08:06.82\00:08:09.28 Yes, yes, when I came back, I prayed, 00:08:09.32\00:08:12.95 I told a friend of ours about the incident 00:08:12.99\00:08:18.06 I had seen and I was praying, 00:08:18.09\00:08:19.96 I mean, I'm far so far away. 00:08:20.00\00:08:21.80 How can I help? 00:08:21.83\00:08:23.37 I'm trying to do things here 00:08:23.40\00:08:25.03 in our country in Florida with the youth. 00:08:25.07\00:08:28.14 So people taking advantage of the weaker 00:08:28.17\00:08:31.87 ones that need our help so bad. 00:08:31.91\00:08:33.78 Yes, those that need the help most, 00:08:33.81\00:08:35.88 they're taking advantage of 00:08:35.91\00:08:37.25 because they're very, very poor 00:08:37.28\00:08:38.61 and they want to get out of their poverty, 00:08:38.65\00:08:41.32 but those that can help them 00:08:41.35\00:08:43.18 the most are the ones who take advantage of them. 00:08:43.22\00:08:46.62 And I think that's where our church plays 00:08:46.65\00:08:50.93 very important role 00:08:50.96\00:08:53.03 because the youth has a great potential. 00:08:53.06\00:08:56.10 So even though we have these challenges of poverty, 00:08:56.13\00:08:59.87 also have the gospel of hope 00:08:59.90\00:09:03.20 and the change through Christ, 00:09:03.24\00:09:06.47 and that's why we are very interested 00:09:06.51\00:09:08.94 in helping our young people 00:09:08.98\00:09:10.55 so they can do more for Christ 00:09:10.58\00:09:14.05 because there are these potentials 00:09:14.08\00:09:16.85 in them doing things for Christ. 00:09:16.89\00:09:18.99 Okay. 00:09:19.02\00:09:20.36 Well, we want to dive into this story more 00:09:20.39\00:09:22.79 but before we do we have a song 00:09:22.82\00:09:25.26 and it's Marshall Kelly. 00:09:25.29\00:09:27.13 T. Marshall Kelly, 00:09:27.16\00:09:28.50 one of my favorite singers, 00:09:28.53\00:09:30.37 a precious man. 00:09:30.40\00:09:31.73 And he's going to sing, "He's the one." 00:09:31.77\00:09:33.90 He's the one. 00:09:33.94\00:09:35.27 Is there anyone can help us, 00:09:53.79\00:09:57.89 one who understands our hearts 00:09:57.93\00:10:02.96 When the thorns of life have pierced them 00:10:03.00\00:10:07.77 Till they bleed 00:10:07.80\00:10:13.27 One who sympathizes with us 00:10:13.31\00:10:18.98 who in tenderness imparts 00:10:19.01\00:10:24.55 Just the very 00:10:24.59\00:10:26.89 Very blessing that we need? 00:10:26.92\00:10:32.93 Is there anyone can help us 00:10:38.40\00:10:43.54 Who can give us sinner peace 00:10:43.57\00:10:48.01 When his heart is burden'd down with pain and woe 00:10:48.04\00:10:55.02 Who will speak the word of pardon 00:10:59.95\00:11:04.29 That affords a sweet relief? 00:11:04.33\00:11:09.56 And whose blood can wash 00:11:09.60\00:11:12.57 And make us 00:11:12.60\00:11:15.54 Pure like snow? 00:11:15.57\00:11:21.98 Yes, there is One 00:11:22.01\00:11:27.62 Only One 00:11:27.65\00:11:33.66 His blessed name is Jesus 00:11:33.69\00:11:38.63 He is that One 00:11:38.66\00:11:44.17 Yes, afflictions will press our soul 00:11:44.20\00:11:50.11 And the waves of trouble will roll 00:11:50.14\00:11:56.04 But we have a friend who will help us 00:11:56.08\00:12:03.05 He's the One 00:12:03.08\00:12:10.79 Is there anyone can help us 00:12:10.83\00:12:15.93 When the end is drawing near 00:12:15.96\00:12:21.64 Who will go thro ' death's dark waters 00:12:21.67\00:12:26.24 By our side 00:12:26.27\00:12:32.28 Who will light the way before us 00:12:32.31\00:12:37.65 and dispel all doubt and fear 00:12:37.69\00:12:42.96 And he'll resurrect us 00:12:42.99\00:12:46.70 When he comes again 00:12:46.73\00:12:53.67 Oh, yes, there is One, 00:12:53.70\00:12:59.34 Only One 00:12:59.37\00:13:05.01 His blessed name is Jesus 00:13:05.05\00:13:10.99 He is that One 00:13:11.02\00:13:17.79 Afflictions will press our soul 00:13:17.83\00:13:23.00 And the waves of trouble will roll 00:13:23.03\00:13:29.54 But we have a friend who will help us 00:13:29.57\00:13:37.15 Jesus is that One 00:13:37.18\00:13:43.75 Brian, I always appreciate his ministry, 00:13:54.40\00:13:56.46 he touches my heart. 00:13:56.50\00:13:58.03 Yeah, I love his voice. Yes, yes. 00:13:58.07\00:13:59.63 He was here just a short time ago 00:13:59.67\00:14:02.04 and he always goes to the office 00:14:02.07\00:14:04.11 and ministers to every one us, 00:14:04.14\00:14:05.97 he loves us and we love him. 00:14:06.01\00:14:07.81 He has a love of Christ in his heart that shines out. 00:14:07.84\00:14:10.15 Yes, it does. 00:14:10.18\00:14:11.58 Brother Robinson, you were... 00:14:11.61\00:14:13.82 We were talking earlier about the children, 00:14:13.85\00:14:17.32 about the young that were being taken advantage of 00:14:17.35\00:14:20.49 and started to use some terminology 00:14:20.52\00:14:23.06 human trafficking, 00:14:23.09\00:14:24.43 but I wanted to make sure 00:14:24.46\00:14:26.39 that this is what we were combating there in Madagascar 00:14:26.43\00:14:30.27 and you assured me it was 00:14:30.30\00:14:31.73 but you use some other terminology, 00:14:31.77\00:14:33.90 actually I've never heard that terminology 00:14:33.94\00:14:36.20 and it was sexual tourism? 00:14:36.24\00:14:38.44 Isn't that what you said? Yes. 00:14:38.47\00:14:40.48 Explain what we're combating in Madagascar 00:14:40.51\00:14:43.78 and not just there 00:14:43.81\00:14:45.15 but I know it's all over the world 00:14:45.18\00:14:46.75 with that terminology? 00:14:46.78\00:14:48.25 And because I was an eyewitness to it, 00:14:48.28\00:14:50.52 I'm a good person to talk about it, 00:14:50.55\00:14:52.49 because at the hotel, 00:14:52.52\00:14:54.12 the very first day in Madagascar 00:14:54.16\00:14:56.93 I was at the hotel and I saw a little girl, 00:14:56.96\00:15:01.43 a little girl she was decked out in makeup 00:15:01.46\00:15:03.60 to look much older 00:15:03.63\00:15:05.23 and she was with businessmen, 00:15:05.27\00:15:06.97 it looked obviously odd to me, 00:15:07.00\00:15:09.47 she was with businessman kind of coveting 00:15:09.50\00:15:12.17 this little girl with men that were 00:15:12.21\00:15:14.94 maybe three times older than her, 00:15:14.98\00:15:17.68 then what stuck out 00:15:17.71\00:15:19.45 when I went and traveled into the rainforest was again, 00:15:19.48\00:15:23.69 a little girl with a much older man 00:15:23.72\00:15:26.79 and you can tell she's in the wrong place 00:15:26.82\00:15:29.09 because we're traveling in the rainforest 00:15:29.12\00:15:32.06 and she's decked out and dressed for a party. 00:15:32.09\00:15:35.36 So something, it just stood out 00:15:35.40\00:15:38.33 and I asked my guide about it 00:15:38.37\00:15:39.93 and he told me what was going on and it was... 00:15:39.97\00:15:42.40 Give me an age range of little girl? 00:15:42.44\00:15:44.27 The little girl, the one at the, 00:15:44.31\00:15:46.51 at the hotel by the swimming pool 00:15:46.54\00:15:48.18 I would say she was, 00:15:48.21\00:15:51.21 she looked like a teenager maybe between 13 and 14, 00:15:51.25\00:15:55.32 and then in the rainforest she looked a little older, 00:15:55.35\00:15:58.02 she may have been a 17 year old. 00:15:58.05\00:15:59.75 Okay. 00:15:59.79\00:16:01.12 But here again, 00:16:01.16\00:16:02.49 they had on the makeup to look much older. 00:16:02.52\00:16:03.86 So they could be even younger than that. 00:16:03.89\00:16:06.29 Okay. 00:16:06.33\00:16:07.76 So this is what we're combating, 00:16:07.80\00:16:09.20 this is part of the problem. 00:16:09.23\00:16:10.90 Yes. 00:16:10.93\00:16:13.30 Well, Dr. Joel, 00:16:13.34\00:16:15.54 maybe you want to tell us a little bit about 00:16:15.57\00:16:18.47 what the church is trying to do to help our youth, 00:16:18.51\00:16:21.08 so introduce us to this aspect of the program. 00:16:21.11\00:16:25.28 Yes, thank you so this problem of poverty. 00:16:25.31\00:16:30.92 Yes, it is very structural, 00:16:30.95\00:16:32.65 it is in the country but there is also, 00:16:32.69\00:16:35.26 there's a problem in the area of morality. 00:16:35.29\00:16:38.56 So the church plays important role 00:16:38.59\00:16:41.76 in fighting against this poverty 00:16:41.80\00:16:43.80 which really keep those young people 00:16:43.83\00:16:46.87 and their sufferings and the lack of opportunity. 00:16:46.90\00:16:50.54 So when I would say rich people or foreigners 00:16:50.57\00:16:54.24 taking advantage of them, then somehow it's a really, 00:16:54.28\00:16:57.78 it's hard for them to say no. 00:16:57.81\00:16:59.68 Now, the church actually has a better 00:16:59.71\00:17:01.98 or has better solutions to that. 00:17:02.02\00:17:04.65 So the youth department has different programs 00:17:04.69\00:17:09.12 and that's I think what you are going to hear 00:17:09.16\00:17:11.29 from Pastor Haja. 00:17:11.33\00:17:13.16 It's better if he tells us 00:17:13.19\00:17:16.03 what are these four areas 00:17:16.06\00:17:18.63 at least of the activities in Madagascar 00:17:18.67\00:17:21.90 in combating poverty at any level 00:17:21.94\00:17:25.54 including the sexual tourism and human trafficking. 00:17:25.57\00:17:29.28 And the inability to provide your own means of living. 00:17:29.31\00:17:36.02 Okay, so we'll go to our Skype guest Pastor Haja, 00:17:36.05\00:17:41.62 and maybe you can share with us 00:17:41.66\00:17:43.49 what the church is doing for our youth 00:17:43.53\00:17:47.06 there in Madagascar, 00:17:47.10\00:17:48.53 we'd appreciate that. 00:17:48.56\00:17:49.90 Okay, I'm so glad to have this opportunity 00:17:52.90\00:17:57.84 to talk about the youth ministry. 00:17:57.87\00:18:01.94 As you well know that 00:18:01.98\00:18:03.81 we have challenge here in Madagascar 00:18:03.85\00:18:06.38 and we've already talked about poverty 00:18:06.41\00:18:08.98 and it's already said, 00:18:09.02\00:18:11.12 that the church has a new important role in it. 00:18:11.15\00:18:15.76 because if we are willing to finish the mission 00:18:15.79\00:18:19.96 that Jesus Christ has given us, 00:18:20.00\00:18:22.96 we have to use the Christ method 00:18:23.00\00:18:26.94 that's why we need to mingle with people 00:18:26.97\00:18:30.07 and to meet their needs, 00:18:30.11\00:18:32.61 and one of the way for us to mingle 00:18:32.64\00:18:37.31 with people is to involve in the community service. 00:18:37.35\00:18:42.95 And that's why we have this project called so 00:18:42.98\00:18:45.65 to build the center of influence. 00:18:45.69\00:18:49.16 So that we can address the needs of young people 00:18:49.19\00:18:53.19 and young men, 00:18:53.23\00:18:56.67 and you see that in this project 00:18:56.70\00:19:00.10 we are willing not only to preach the gospel 00:19:00.14\00:19:03.61 but also to give them the way to fight the poverty 00:19:03.64\00:19:10.38 and one of the reason of poverty is joblessness, 00:19:10.41\00:19:14.68 that's why in the center 00:19:14.72\00:19:17.69 we are willing to offer young people opportunity 00:19:17.72\00:19:22.26 to do something for their ward, 00:19:22.29\00:19:25.13 for their community and for the country itself. 00:19:25.16\00:19:30.13 Okay, Pastor Haja, 00:19:30.17\00:19:32.33 the material that I have here, 00:19:32.37\00:19:34.27 there is three programs 00:19:34.30\00:19:36.34 that you have pioneered 00:19:36.37\00:19:39.67 or introduced there in Madagascar, 00:19:39.71\00:19:41.88 one of them is the Voice of Youth. 00:19:41.91\00:19:43.71 What is the Voice of Youth? 00:19:43.75\00:19:45.28 You see, Voice of Youth 00:19:48.78\00:19:51.02 it is young people who organize themselves 00:19:51.05\00:19:56.59 to preach the gospel 00:19:56.62\00:19:58.93 in evangelistic meeting 00:19:58.96\00:20:01.90 where you lead out as speakers and presenters. 00:20:01.93\00:20:08.34 And we have this year 00:20:08.37\00:20:14.74 starting on July and August this program 00:20:14.78\00:20:19.55 and now we have the wonderful results. 00:20:19.58\00:20:22.65 I would like just to share one of them in Antananarivo 00:20:22.68\00:20:27.42 where 25 people, 00:20:27.46\00:20:30.23 young people have decided to preach for the first time. 00:20:30.26\00:20:35.43 At the end of the campaign, 00:20:35.46\00:20:37.17 we had 19 souls baptized for Jesus Christ. 00:20:37.20\00:20:41.10 Praise God. 00:20:41.14\00:20:42.47 And also encourages young people 00:20:42.50\00:20:43.84 to be involved in evangelism 00:20:43.87\00:20:48.94 because they see the result of their work 00:20:48.98\00:20:51.85 and they are so committed 00:20:51.88\00:20:53.65 to continue the work of the Lord. 00:20:53.68\00:20:56.55 Okay, Sister Ado, is that right? 00:20:56.58\00:21:00.29 Yes. 00:21:00.32\00:21:03.86 What part do you play in this? 00:21:03.89\00:21:06.80 What role do you have in this? 00:21:06.83\00:21:09.63 Okay, as I'm the leader, 00:21:09.66\00:21:13.40 youth leader at my church. 00:21:13.44\00:21:16.17 It's us who organize all the activities. 00:21:16.20\00:21:20.34 For example, because we start by doing social work, 00:21:20.38\00:21:25.48 like sharing clothes and all the people, 00:21:25.51\00:21:30.29 people's needs 00:21:30.32\00:21:31.89 so our role is to organize all the activities 00:21:31.92\00:21:37.23 that young people are going to do. 00:21:37.26\00:21:41.16 Okay. 00:21:41.20\00:21:42.53 So you're a youth leader in your, 00:21:42.56\00:21:44.23 in your local church there. 00:21:44.27\00:21:46.30 Yes, yes. Very good. 00:21:46.33\00:21:47.97 So the Voice of Youth if I understand right 00:21:48.00\00:21:52.64 is an initiative from the church 00:21:52.67\00:21:56.14 to have our young people 00:21:56.18\00:21:58.08 trained to be able to do evangelistic meetings, 00:21:58.11\00:22:01.88 to be the speakers and help out in the meetings, 00:22:01.92\00:22:04.72 is that correct? 00:22:04.75\00:22:06.62 Yes. That's right. 00:22:06.65\00:22:07.99 Yes, and how many of these 00:22:08.02\00:22:09.39 have you organized in Madagascar 00:22:09.42\00:22:11.99 or do you hope to organize? 00:22:12.03\00:22:15.60 You see in Antananarivo, 00:22:15.63\00:22:18.43 Antananarivo means the city of thousands, 00:22:18.47\00:22:23.24 and for this time 00:22:23.27\00:22:24.61 we have planned to have 00:22:24.64\00:22:28.08 1000 young people as preachers. 00:22:28.11\00:22:32.51 Okay. 00:22:32.55\00:22:33.88 Antana only 1000 preachers. 00:22:33.92\00:22:36.65 Okay. 00:22:36.69\00:22:38.02 But for we've started with community service 00:22:38.05\00:22:41.46 that she may come to know about it. 00:22:41.49\00:22:44.39 Okay. 00:22:44.43\00:22:46.59 And so I think my question is, 00:22:46.63\00:22:48.70 do you reach into the communities 00:22:48.73\00:22:51.50 where we have these young people 00:22:51.53\00:22:53.00 that are in poverty, 00:22:53.03\00:22:54.90 that are at risk and pull them into the church 00:22:54.94\00:22:57.41 and then train them and give them skills, 00:22:57.44\00:22:59.67 is that what we're... 00:22:59.71\00:23:01.04 is that what we're doing. 00:23:01.08\00:23:02.41 Yeah, that is the approach, that is well, 00:23:02.44\00:23:06.28 the poverty is there 00:23:06.31\00:23:07.65 so talking about it, it's there. 00:23:07.68\00:23:11.42 So we look at the potentials, we look at the assets, 00:23:11.45\00:23:15.59 so we have young people who are really motivated. 00:23:15.62\00:23:18.79 They want to do things for the Lord. 00:23:18.83\00:23:20.93 So what we do is equip them, 00:23:20.96\00:23:23.43 so by equipping them, 00:23:23.47\00:23:25.97 train them to become preacher 00:23:26.00\00:23:28.30 and help them also to identify needs within the community 00:23:28.34\00:23:32.31 and try to address these needs. 00:23:32.34\00:23:34.74 It is actually, it goes along quarterly 00:23:34.78\00:23:37.91 that we are learning right now, 00:23:37.95\00:23:40.42 meeting the needs of the society 00:23:40.45\00:23:42.48 or the community. 00:23:42.52\00:23:43.85 And we are talking about urban area. 00:23:43.89\00:23:46.86 The example that pastor had gave 00:23:46.89\00:23:49.79 because Antananarivo is the capital city of Madagascar. 00:23:49.82\00:23:53.23 So the goal is to have 1000 leaders 00:23:53.26\00:23:58.33 trained weave their group 00:23:58.37\00:24:00.94 so from the churches to meet the community needs 00:24:00.97\00:24:05.61 and through those 00:24:05.64\00:24:07.11 and the evangelistic campaign 00:24:07.14\00:24:08.61 that goes with the community outreach 00:24:08.64\00:24:12.45 will lead people to come to Christ. 00:24:12.48\00:24:15.22 Okay, so that we've learned a little bit about 00:24:15.25\00:24:17.75 the Voice of Youth, 00:24:17.79\00:24:19.12 but then there's a Caleb project. 00:24:19.15\00:24:21.59 What is a Caleb Project, I know of Caleb in the Bible. 00:24:21.62\00:24:25.13 So help us understand the Caleb Project 00:24:25.16\00:24:29.06 and what that's about that? 00:24:29.10\00:24:31.53 That the Caleb Project as you know in the Bible, 00:24:31.57\00:24:33.80 we know this word 00:24:33.84\00:24:37.64 that Caleb said, "Give me this mountain." 00:24:37.67\00:24:41.34 And this is a campaign to un-enter area 00:24:41.38\00:24:47.65 where there is no Adventist or few Adventists, 00:24:47.68\00:24:52.32 young people have dedicate their vacation 00:24:52.35\00:24:55.09 to go there to preach the gospel, 00:24:55.12\00:24:58.43 to do community service and they leave that place 00:24:58.46\00:25:02.80 if they managed to build the church 00:25:02.83\00:25:06.80 and leave one pioneer on this place. 00:25:06.84\00:25:10.81 Then youth and young people 00:25:10.84\00:25:13.54 dedicate their vacation to a campaign, 00:25:13.58\00:25:16.44 and in a campaign 00:25:16.48\00:25:17.81 they have to do a community service, evangelism 00:25:17.85\00:25:20.88 and at the same time 00:25:20.92\00:25:22.42 they start to build already a place for worship. 00:25:22.45\00:25:27.26 Have you already launched this initiative 00:25:27.29\00:25:30.93 or is this one that you're planning to do? 00:25:30.96\00:25:34.53 Okay, we have already till now 00:25:34.56\00:25:39.87 ten sites for this project, 00:25:39.90\00:25:42.80 and we have already dedicated three buildings 00:25:42.84\00:25:46.17 in this ten un-entered area. 00:25:46.21\00:25:50.91 Then in this place 00:25:50.95\00:25:52.28 we have also young people going there, 00:25:52.31\00:25:54.62 camping there, 00:25:54.65\00:25:55.98 preach the gospel and staying there 00:25:56.02\00:25:57.35 if they have a campaign but in the starting now 00:25:57.39\00:25:59.85 we have a program, give them the keys, 00:25:59.89\00:26:03.76 we are planning to have 20 more un-entered area 00:26:03.79\00:26:09.30 to do the same project. 00:26:09.33\00:26:10.70 Young people during vacation going there 00:26:10.73\00:26:13.03 and preach the gospel, build the place of worship. 00:26:13.07\00:26:16.50 We have already done 10 00:26:16.54\00:26:18.97 but we are planning to have 22 more. 00:26:19.01\00:26:21.58 Okay, so you use the word vacation, 00:26:21.61\00:26:26.48 they take their vacation time and they camp. 00:26:26.51\00:26:30.82 Now, when I think of camping, 00:26:30.85\00:26:32.49 there's a lot of different nuances to campaign. 00:26:32.52\00:26:37.29 Are they living in tents? so." 00:34:56.39\00:34:57.73 But when you see, 00:34:57.76\00:34:59.09 when you see the youth and their faces 00:34:59.13\00:35:00.46 they take the challenge, they are excited, 00:35:00.50\00:35:02.40 they're... 00:35:02.43\00:35:03.77 Look at them, look at them 00:35:03.80\00:35:05.13 very excited by this. 00:35:05.17\00:35:06.50 Oh, oh, beautiful, beautiful young people. 00:35:06.53\00:35:07.87 also, 00:35:13.81\00:35:15.64 we are educating them to have that close connection with God, 00:35:15.68\00:35:19.15 but build characters, good characters. 00:35:19.18\00:35:21.88 Yes. 00:35:21.92\00:35:23.25 While we're looking at the video, I like to, 00:35:23.28\00:35:25.62 you have the English version of this 00:35:25.65\00:35:27.46 after thank Pastor Haja and his son, 00:35:27.49\00:35:30.19 this is one of the things that we're distributing 00:35:30.23\00:35:32.16 to the young people there. 00:35:32.19\00:35:34.83 This is the Malagasy version of it 00:35:34.86\00:35:37.33 was translated by them. 00:35:37.37\00:35:39.00 While they're not our audience, 00:35:39.03\00:35:41.24 our viewers are seeing the video, 00:35:41.27\00:35:43.67 we'll introduce this guide here in just a moment. 00:35:43.71\00:35:47.48 This is the camporee is this 00:35:47.51\00:35:49.84 what we're seeing in aerial view of the camporee. 00:35:49.88\00:35:52.08 What we just saw was a family life 00:35:52.11\00:35:55.18 gathering organized by the family department. 00:35:55.22\00:35:58.25 Oh, family life gathering. 00:35:58.29\00:35:59.92 Okay, wow, that was pretty big. 00:35:59.95\00:36:01.39 And there's farming there it looks. 00:36:01.42\00:36:02.76 Yeah, teaching young people to maintain the environment. 00:36:02.79\00:36:06.03 Okay. 00:36:06.06\00:36:07.40 And also this is the actual site 00:36:07.43\00:36:09.43 for the new center. 00:36:09.46\00:36:10.80 The youth themselves were clearing the land 00:36:10.83\00:36:13.20 for the center. 00:36:13.23\00:36:14.57 That the government gave for this purpose. 00:36:14.60\00:36:15.94 Yeah, that the government gave for this purpose. 00:36:15.97\00:36:17.31 And one of the things that they hope to do, 00:36:17.34\00:36:19.61 use the land for is to do campaign 00:36:19.64\00:36:21.84 on the land as well. 00:36:21.88\00:36:23.21 So the youth are going to use it, 00:36:23.24\00:36:25.21 the pathfinders are gonna use it, 00:36:25.25\00:36:26.72 the Seventh-day Adventist Church is gonna use it. 00:36:26.75\00:36:29.08 The idea is to make it self-sustaining 00:36:29.12\00:36:31.45 so it pays for itself. 00:36:31.49\00:36:33.52 So the area is a highly tourist area 00:36:33.56\00:36:38.13 where a lot of people will travel 00:36:38.16\00:36:39.93 so we're not only going to build the center. 00:36:39.96\00:36:42.50 Yeah, that's the place but also cabins, 00:36:42.53\00:36:46.00 and this is the actual architectural conceptual video 00:36:46.03\00:36:49.80 of the youth center. 00:36:49.84\00:36:51.17 You know for the government 00:36:51.21\00:36:52.54 to have given you the property to build this on. 00:36:52.57\00:36:55.28 Evidently you have gained their confidence as well. 00:36:55.31\00:36:58.78 Yes, yes. 00:36:58.81\00:37:00.88 So as you look at the center, 00:37:00.92\00:37:02.32 the center it has a simple building 00:37:02.35\00:37:04.85 with a major and dramatic entrance and exit. 00:37:04.89\00:37:09.36 The theme of it is that when you come here, 00:37:09.39\00:37:12.69 it may look simple but when you leave, 00:37:12.73\00:37:14.63 you're going to leave here changed. 00:37:14.66\00:37:16.00 Right. 00:37:16.03\00:37:17.37 So we have that dramatic entrance. 00:37:17.40\00:37:18.73 He takes from the colors of the Pathfinder flag 00:37:18.77\00:37:21.37 and the Malagasy flag as well, 00:37:21.40\00:37:23.61 for those bright colors 00:37:23.64\00:37:24.97 and also in communicating with Pastor Haja, 00:37:25.01\00:37:27.68 we're using natural materials 00:37:27.71\00:37:29.78 that they are there the bricks, 00:37:29.81\00:37:31.28 that's their color and things like that 00:37:31.31\00:37:33.38 to keep it low costing 00:37:33.42\00:37:37.22 and also fit into their environment there 00:37:37.25\00:37:39.25 but still look powerful and dramatic for the youth. 00:37:39.29\00:37:42.52 Okay, so let me just summarize here, 00:37:42.56\00:37:45.93 you have an island with many youth. 00:37:45.96\00:37:50.43 Many of them are being exploited. 00:37:50.47\00:37:53.03 There's poverty 00:37:53.07\00:37:54.97 and the vision of our church there in Madagascar 00:37:55.00\00:37:59.31 is to take and train our youth 00:37:59.34\00:38:02.78 to reach out to other youth and people in the area. 00:38:02.81\00:38:07.12 In this, Voice of Youth, the Caleb Project, 00:38:07.15\00:38:11.49 One Year Mission Projects, but all of that takes training, 00:38:11.52\00:38:15.62 and our young people need to be trained 00:38:15.66\00:38:18.69 and to do that on any kind of scale 00:38:18.73\00:38:21.26 you have to have a center to bring them to do that with. 00:38:21.30\00:38:25.73 Also to be able to reach out to our community, 00:38:25.77\00:38:28.47 you need a center to be able to reach out 00:38:28.50\00:38:30.84 is what I'm getting the idea 00:38:30.87\00:38:33.38 to reach out to the community around the center 00:38:33.41\00:38:36.75 and work with the community 00:38:36.78\00:38:38.61 and that's what the goal of this project is about, 00:38:38.65\00:38:41.38 am I correct on that? 00:38:41.42\00:38:42.75 Yeah, yes, actually the center also is going to be used 00:38:42.78\00:38:45.72 as a training center... 00:38:45.75\00:38:47.09 Okay. 00:38:47.12\00:38:48.46 For the youth. Okay. 00:38:48.49\00:38:50.69 All in Madagascar, 00:38:50.73\00:38:52.06 so they would come to that place, 00:38:52.09\00:38:53.46 they will... 00:38:53.50\00:38:55.16 There is going to be a curriculum. 00:38:55.20\00:38:57.67 We are developing to equip them 00:38:57.70\00:39:01.47 so they can provide for themselves 00:39:01.50\00:39:03.27 to become an entrepreneur. 00:39:03.30\00:39:04.64 Yes. Yeah. 00:39:04.67\00:39:06.01 And this curriculum will help them 00:39:06.04\00:39:08.71 so they know how to provide for themselves 00:39:08.74\00:39:12.75 and when they leave that place, 00:39:12.78\00:39:14.75 they can provide from themselves 00:39:14.78\00:39:17.12 and help others. 00:39:17.15\00:39:19.05 Okay, so it will be like tent makers, 00:39:19.09\00:39:20.86 like Paul was attempting there. 00:39:20.89\00:39:22.22 If we use that is exactly... 00:39:22.26\00:39:23.79 Yeah, that's the idea. 00:39:23.83\00:39:25.16 Now, I'm holding in my hand something that's called, 00:39:25.19\00:39:27.13 Rules for Reading the Bible. 00:39:27.16\00:39:30.30 Rules For Reading the Bible. 00:39:30.33\00:39:32.13 Well, tell us what this is? 00:39:32.17\00:39:35.30 This is part of the... 00:39:35.34\00:39:38.47 And as we go through everything, 00:39:38.51\00:39:40.91 we can talk about the training 00:39:40.94\00:39:42.31 then what the training needs to 00:39:42.34\00:39:43.68 but it's really about evangelism, 00:39:43.71\00:39:45.41 we want the youth to be able to train, 00:39:45.45\00:39:48.48 be trained 00:39:48.52\00:39:49.85 so they can train and lead others to Christ 00:39:49.88\00:39:51.99 and one of the things that we're going to be 00:39:52.02\00:39:54.26 handing out to the youth is this manual which was... 00:39:54.29\00:39:58.79 You had the English version of it. 00:39:58.83\00:40:00.80 We are also reading the Bible 00:40:00.83\00:40:02.53 and this is the Malagasy version 00:40:02.56\00:40:04.20 which Pastor Haja and his son 00:40:04.23\00:40:06.23 were kind enough to donate their time 00:40:06.27\00:40:08.14 to translate into their language 00:40:08.17\00:40:10.11 so that they can distribute this to the youth 00:40:10.14\00:40:13.78 as they are trained so that 00:40:13.81\00:40:15.64 they can also understand the Bible 00:40:15.68\00:40:17.88 and share it with others as well. 00:40:17.91\00:40:20.02 First and foremost their foundations 00:40:20.05\00:40:21.88 got to be the Word of God 00:40:21.92\00:40:23.32 and so that would be the first thing 00:40:23.35\00:40:25.95 to instill in them. 00:40:25.99\00:40:29.62 May I add one more? Yeah. 00:40:29.66\00:40:31.09 And we are also right now developing a manual 00:40:31.13\00:40:35.93 about corruption 00:40:35.96\00:40:38.33 because Madagascar is one of the countries 00:40:38.37\00:40:41.17 that corruption is so prevalent. 00:40:41.20\00:40:43.34 So with the partnership with Andrews University, 00:40:43.37\00:40:46.61 the Community 00:40:46.64\00:40:48.01 and International Development program 00:40:48.04\00:40:49.94 that the director with my student, 00:40:49.98\00:40:54.22 we went to Madagascar. 00:40:54.25\00:40:56.42 It's a program we do every year actually 00:40:56.45\00:40:58.95 for a study tour. 00:40:58.99\00:41:00.32 So this year we worked with the Union 00:41:00.36\00:41:02.96 and we develop our curriculum 00:41:02.99\00:41:06.26 how to teach young people to fight corruption. 00:41:06.29\00:41:11.70 It did some means of source for us to show 00:41:11.73\00:41:14.54 to the community 00:41:14.57\00:41:16.30 that we are part of the community. 00:41:16.34\00:41:18.74 And we ought to know not to be involved in 00:41:18.77\00:41:23.68 any corruption activities, but also help the country, 00:41:23.71\00:41:27.48 help the community to fight against it, 00:41:27.52\00:41:30.55 so that is a curriculum that we have been developing. 00:41:30.59\00:41:34.62 One of my students Cadille Grant, 00:41:34.66\00:41:37.19 she's finishing her degree this fall 00:41:37.23\00:41:40.50 developed the program now with us 00:41:40.53\00:41:42.90 and it is going to be a powerful tool, 00:41:42.93\00:41:44.83 so these are one of the things 00:41:44.87\00:41:46.97 that we are going to use when we have the center, 00:41:47.00\00:41:51.84 the Mantasoa Center. 00:41:51.87\00:41:54.28 Okay, let's talk a little bit about the center. 00:41:54.31\00:41:57.91 It's going to take something, some money, 00:41:57.95\00:42:00.82 I was saying materials, you know, 00:42:00.85\00:42:02.48 that takes money to build the project, 00:42:02.52\00:42:04.42 so let's talk about 00:42:04.45\00:42:05.79 a little bit about what's happening 00:42:05.82\00:42:07.76 and far as the fund raising and the construction plans 00:42:07.79\00:42:11.56 and all that, tell us about that, Audie? 00:42:11.59\00:42:14.60 Okay, 00:42:14.63\00:42:16.60 we together with Pastor Haja and his team, 00:42:16.63\00:42:19.47 we did some conceptual drawings 00:42:19.50\00:42:21.50 so that we could put together 00:42:21.54\00:42:23.74 an estimate of the construction cost. 00:42:23.77\00:42:26.37 So we did the drawings, as you see we have the video. 00:42:26.41\00:42:30.28 Now, the building is about 17, 000 square feet 00:42:30.31\00:42:33.58 which is maybe 1600 square meters 00:42:33.62\00:42:38.45 for that size building in Madagascar. 00:42:38.49\00:42:42.02 When I did the estimate, 00:42:42.06\00:42:43.39 I used Florida costs and labor 00:42:43.43\00:42:47.06 and when we sent 00:42:47.10\00:42:48.43 the information over to Madagascar 00:42:48.46\00:42:50.37 they took it and they'd worked with it 00:42:50.40\00:42:52.43 and took a look at the labor cost 00:42:52.47\00:42:54.17 and the material cost 00:42:54.20\00:42:55.54 and turned it into a cost that is around $700 dollars 00:42:55.57\00:43:00.58 in US dollars for the building. 00:43:00.61\00:43:02.41 Okay. 00:43:02.44\00:43:03.78 Based on what they think in using Malagasy labor 00:43:03.81\00:43:07.98 and materials there. 00:43:08.02\00:43:09.58 Okay, then it seemed like 00:43:09.62\00:43:11.29 I heard that the Lord provided a little miracle for you 00:43:11.32\00:43:14.26 on 700,000 is a pretty big fund. 00:43:14.29\00:43:16.96 Yes, it's a very big fund, 00:43:16.99\00:43:20.10 so the Lord blessed us in that. 00:43:20.13\00:43:23.83 A friend of a friend introduced us 00:43:23.87\00:43:26.84 this friend who works at North American Division 00:43:26.87\00:43:30.87 for PSI, is actually the director of PSI 00:43:30.91\00:43:34.38 Dr. Lilya Wagner introduced us to Zuki Meloski. 00:43:34.41\00:43:39.51 He owns a successful... 00:43:39.55\00:43:41.18 He is Seventh-day Adventist 00:43:41.22\00:43:42.68 and he also directs at the General Conference. 00:43:42.72\00:43:45.59 He with his wife owns a successful property 00:43:45.62\00:43:49.56 and construction business in South Africa. 00:43:49.59\00:43:52.43 Through Dr Wagner's office 00:43:52.46\00:43:54.43 we were able to reach out to him 00:43:54.46\00:43:56.03 and get in touch with him 00:43:56.06\00:43:57.40 and he has kindly donated, 00:43:57.43\00:43:59.77 actually offered to be the contractor 00:43:59.80\00:44:02.34 and has donated 50 percent of the construction costs 00:44:02.37\00:44:07.28 to our project 00:44:07.31\00:44:08.71 50 percent that is up to $350,000 00:44:08.74\00:44:13.95 that he is offering to help us out with construction. 00:44:13.98\00:44:16.72 So now that lowers definitely significantly 00:44:16.75\00:44:20.79 how much we have to raise for the rest of the project. 00:44:20.82\00:44:23.79 I want to just speak to our viewers just a minute. 00:44:23.83\00:44:26.76 One of the... 00:44:26.80\00:44:28.93 One of the visions of the Adventist Church 00:44:28.96\00:44:32.30 was to go and build centers, 00:44:32.33\00:44:34.50 and from those centers that be like a hub of a wheel, 00:44:34.54\00:44:38.01 and then the light would go out 00:44:38.04\00:44:39.91 from the center to various areas 00:44:39.94\00:44:42.61 geographically around that hub, 00:44:42.64\00:44:45.41 and this is what I see continuing on is this is a hub, 00:44:45.45\00:44:49.42 a center and from this hub, 00:44:49.45\00:44:51.62 this building, this project, 00:44:51.65\00:44:53.36 it will beams of light will go out 00:44:53.39\00:44:55.92 to the entire island from this hub. 00:44:55.96\00:44:59.46 And we're particularly focusing on our youth there. 00:44:59.49\00:45:02.80 Yes. 00:45:02.83\00:45:04.17 Maybe our viewers would like to know 00:45:04.20\00:45:06.63 how they could be involved, Mollie. 00:45:06.67\00:45:08.50 You know, I was thinking about that. 00:45:08.54\00:45:10.27 What is the great commission?
