Would that be your wife? 00:11:21.98\00:11:23.38 Me and my wife. Yeah. Okay. 00:11:23.41\00:11:24.75 At that time, we had two small children. 00:11:24.78\00:11:26.98 And I started to have 00:11:27.02\00:11:31.12 a small interest in agriculture. 00:11:31.15\00:11:32.75 Okay. Before this, I had no interest. 00:11:32.79\00:11:35.76 I didn't like it all. 00:11:35.79\00:11:37.96 And I read Philippians 2:12. Yes. 00:11:37.99\00:11:42.06 2:13 actually, well both but, it says, 00:11:42.10\00:11:44.60 "For it is God which worketh in you 00:11:44.63\00:11:46.90 both to will and to do of His good pleasure." 00:11:46.94\00:11:49.57 Amen. 00:11:49.60\00:11:50.94 And I realized that agriculture was something 00:11:50.97\00:11:53.38 that the God was encouraging me to do. 00:11:53.41\00:11:55.98 Wonderful. 00:11:56.01\00:11:57.35 So I had to make it quick, 00:11:57.38\00:11:58.71 we went to Black Hills for six months, 00:11:58.75\00:12:01.58 did an internship, 00:12:01.62\00:12:03.08 Black Hills Health & Education Center. 00:12:03.12\00:12:05.25 Came back, we wanted to start a farm 00:12:05.29\00:12:07.09 but we didn't have any money. 00:12:07.12\00:12:09.89 Before we started a farm, 00:12:09.92\00:12:11.73 we put my wife through nursing school, 00:12:11.76\00:12:14.10 had two small kids, we had no money to start it. 00:12:14.13\00:12:17.43 We did that for two years, 00:12:17.47\00:12:18.80 and the Lord called us back to Black Hills, 00:12:18.83\00:12:21.14 we were there for two years, 00:12:21.17\00:12:22.50 and then He brought us to DayStar 00:12:22.54\00:12:24.44 and that's where we've been. 00:12:24.47\00:12:25.81 Wonderful. 00:12:25.84\00:12:27.18 And you now have four children. 00:12:27.21\00:12:28.54 We now have four children How old are your children? 00:12:28.58\00:12:30.91 Eight, six, two, and about seven months old. 00:12:30.95\00:12:35.78 Okay, so let me ask you though, when did Jesus, 00:12:35.82\00:12:41.86 when did that, you can grow up in a Christian home 00:12:41.89\00:12:45.56 but God doesn't have grand children, 00:12:45.59\00:12:47.36 he only has children, so it doesn't matter 00:12:47.40\00:12:49.36 if your parents' relationship is close the Lord. 00:12:49.40\00:12:52.50 When did it become real for you? 00:12:52.53\00:12:54.24 Was it when your friends challenged you, 00:12:54.27\00:12:56.20 when you was that your epiphany moment 00:12:56.24\00:12:59.67 or when did you develop 00:12:59.71\00:13:01.08 that personal relationship with Christ? 00:13:01.11\00:13:04.05 I believe I've had a couple times. 00:13:04.08\00:13:06.78 One was I met my wife, she moved in next door to me, 00:13:06.82\00:13:10.55 she wasn't an Adventist. 00:13:10.59\00:13:11.92 Okay. 00:13:11.95\00:13:13.29 And we started studying and she became an Adventist 00:13:13.32\00:13:16.29 couple of years before we got married. 00:13:16.32\00:13:18.13 So I went through that journey with her 00:13:18.16\00:13:20.20 and that was a big moment. 00:13:20.23\00:13:22.50 And then the second biggest was when we had kids. 00:13:22.53\00:13:24.90 Oh, amen. 00:13:24.93\00:13:26.27 And we realize the responsibility we had. 00:13:26.30\00:13:28.40 Amen. 00:13:28.44\00:13:29.77 So we had to start learning 00:13:29.80\00:13:32.21 what to do with these small children. 00:13:32.24\00:13:34.94 It is. 00:13:34.98\00:13:36.31 I always say that, you know, believe it or not, 00:13:36.34\00:13:38.65 I wanted six children. 00:13:38.68\00:13:40.08 Now I see people who have six little ones 00:13:40.12\00:13:41.98 and I'm thinking, "Lord, what was I thinking?" 00:13:42.02\00:13:43.99 But I think that if you are a parent, 00:13:44.02\00:13:47.99 you're a mother, you're in full time ministry 00:13:48.02\00:13:51.16 and I can't think of anything more beautiful 00:13:51.19\00:13:53.29 than having a child, 00:13:53.33\00:13:55.33 to be able to introduce them to the Lord 00:13:55.36\00:13:57.53 and having someone that you've birthed 00:13:57.57\00:13:59.87 that can potentially have eternal life. 00:13:59.90\00:14:02.50 That's a precious thing. 00:14:02.54\00:14:04.31 Let's talk about DayStar Adventist Academy. 00:14:04.34\00:14:08.21 Let's talk about how it began. Randy, I'll just go to you. 00:14:08.24\00:14:12.08 Well, it started in 1970. 00:14:12.11\00:14:16.22 I'm not sure if there were more involved than the two 00:14:16.25\00:14:19.12 but I know of two doctors, they were brothers, 00:14:19.15\00:14:22.69 they live in Utah 00:14:22.72\00:14:24.16 and they had a desire for Adventist education, 00:14:24.19\00:14:27.13 which there was not much access to in Utah. 00:14:27.16\00:14:32.30 So they started looking around for property. 00:14:32.33\00:14:34.37 Somehow they ended up in Castle Valley 00:14:34.40\00:14:36.91 and they found this ranch property, 00:14:36.94\00:14:39.01 this farm property and they purchased it. 00:14:39.04\00:14:41.24 I think they made two purchases 00:14:41.28\00:14:42.74 but basically up to 320 acres they found. 00:14:42.78\00:14:46.98 And if you want to show the first picture, 00:14:47.02\00:14:48.55 you can see how beautiful this is. 00:14:48.58\00:14:50.45 This is the beautiful time of year right now. 00:14:50.49\00:14:52.62 This is from up in the mountains 00:14:52.65\00:14:54.96 looking down at our little oasis 00:14:54.99\00:14:57.36 and the second picture that we have 00:14:57.39\00:14:59.09 is of our administration building 00:14:59.13\00:15:00.86 looking up to a rock we call Periot. 00:15:00.90\00:15:04.33 We frequently climb up there just to, kind of, 00:15:04.37\00:15:07.74 see things or what we call, base jumpers, 00:15:07.77\00:15:10.11 they jump off of there with parachutes, 00:15:10.14\00:15:11.94 which is kind of fun to watch sometimes. 00:15:11.97\00:15:14.78 Anyway, so these doctors developed this school 00:15:14.81\00:15:17.18 and it has evolved over the years 00:15:17.21\00:15:18.81 to become what it is today. 00:15:18.85\00:15:20.62 You know, it's a funny story 00:15:20.65\00:15:22.72 when I lived in my little hometown 00:15:22.75\00:15:24.19 of Atascadero, California, 00:15:24.22\00:15:25.62 we had neighbors 00:15:25.65\00:15:28.26 and we met this one gentlemen name Bruce Smith. 00:15:28.29\00:15:31.06 Just nice young man, you know, and life goes on. 00:15:31.09\00:15:33.76 Then we moved to Northern California 00:15:33.80\00:15:35.93 and we meet another gentleman, his name is Dr. Brad Smith. 00:15:35.96\00:15:39.37 And as we were talking to him 00:15:39.40\00:15:40.74 explaining where we lived he goes, 00:15:40.77\00:15:42.10 "Oh, that was my brother Bruce." 00:15:42.14\00:15:44.01 And so we continued to gain friendship 00:15:44.04\00:15:46.81 and then after time goes on 00:15:46.84\00:15:48.38 when we were getting ready to come to DayStar, 00:15:48.41\00:15:50.75 he said, "Oh, my dad and his brother 00:15:50.78\00:15:53.42 were the two that founded DayStar." 00:15:53.45\00:15:55.48 So, it's a small world that we traveled in. 00:15:55.52\00:15:57.79 Amen. That is interesting. 00:15:57.82\00:16:00.12 So you've been there for three years? 00:16:00.16\00:16:03.49 Associated for four 00:16:03.53\00:16:04.86 because my two older kids went there 00:16:04.89\00:16:07.03 the year before I came to work there, so-- 00:16:07.06\00:16:10.33 Now Utah, obviously 00:16:10.37\00:16:12.33 is the Mormon capital of the world, I think. 00:16:12.37\00:16:14.87 So are there many Adventists? 00:16:14.90\00:16:16.87 Why did they choose, they lived in Utah. 00:16:16.91\00:16:20.11 Why did these two doctors choose this area? 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.48 I can't really answer that for sure, 00:16:22.51\00:16:25.11 but as I live there, I realize how beautiful it is, 00:16:25.15\00:16:27.92 how remote it is, and you know, people come. 00:16:27.95\00:16:30.92 We just had a group come from Salt Lake City 00:16:30.95\00:16:32.95 to stay there for the weekend. 00:16:32.99\00:16:35.12 They got to see the stars 00:16:35.16\00:16:36.52 that they normally don't get to see 00:16:36.56\00:16:38.03 while they're in Salt Lake. 00:16:38.06\00:16:40.00 We have a couple of ponds that the kids can swim in, 00:16:40.03\00:16:42.43 they can enjoy the peace and quiet, 00:16:42.46\00:16:44.07 there's mountains close by. 00:16:44.10\00:16:45.70 It is just a good all around place, 00:16:45.73\00:16:47.94 we have fertile land, we have free water, 00:16:47.97\00:16:50.61 we have water that is diverted from a creek that comes 00:16:50.64\00:16:53.14 and waters all our irrigation for the crops. 00:16:53.17\00:16:55.81 That's a blessing. 00:16:55.84\00:16:57.18 Yes, you know, 00:16:57.21\00:16:58.55 and it is just a point where the children can just-- 00:16:58.58\00:17:01.75 You know, when we first moved there, 00:17:01.78\00:17:03.12 our little child who was, 00:17:03.15\00:17:05.19 Kyler five at that point in time, 00:17:05.22\00:17:07.12 we could just let him go and not worry about him, 00:17:07.16\00:17:09.16 'cause it was safe for him to be there, 00:17:09.19\00:17:10.73 so that could very well be why they choose. 00:17:10.76\00:17:13.03 That's just the perfect place I think. 00:17:13.06\00:17:15.16 Wonderful. 00:17:15.20\00:17:16.53 So let's talk abut the curriculum there. 00:17:16.56\00:17:19.80 I mean, we know that if we send our children off. 00:17:19.83\00:17:22.80 I believe wholeheartedly in Christian education. 00:17:22.84\00:17:25.61 I think that's, it seems that here at 3ABN, 00:17:25.64\00:17:31.41 we have so many wonderful young people 00:17:31.45\00:17:34.15 who grew up in the Adventist school systems 00:17:34.18\00:17:36.79 and they're just on fire for God 00:17:36.82\00:17:39.62 and you see how important Christian education is. 00:17:39.65\00:17:43.43 But you wanted to talk about this concept of true education. 00:17:43.46\00:17:50.30 And I think, Randy, you had a little quote 00:17:50.33\00:17:52.67 that you wanted to read about true education 00:17:52.70\00:17:55.17 and then we'll turn it over to Matt 00:17:55.20\00:17:57.21 to kind of talk about this. 00:17:57.24\00:17:58.91 Well, I'm learning about true education. 00:17:58.94\00:18:02.31 I believe in it but I've never really studied it out. 00:18:02.34\00:18:05.78 And starting last year, 00:18:05.81\00:18:07.15 we would meet every Wednesday for prayer meeting 00:18:07.18\00:18:09.18 down at Matt's house under a beautiful tree 00:18:09.22\00:18:11.45 and we would all study about true education. 00:18:11.49\00:18:13.62 What does it mean, true education, 00:18:13.66\00:18:15.66 and what is mean to put it practically into a curriculum, 00:18:15.69\00:18:20.40 so to speak. 00:18:20.43\00:18:21.76 And as I've studied and read a quote 00:18:21.80\00:18:24.17 from "A Call to Stand Apart," page 65 00:18:24.20\00:18:27.24 and it says, "True education embraces physical, mental, 00:18:27.27\00:18:31.44 and moral training, 00:18:31.47\00:18:33.24 in order that all the powers shall be fitted 00:18:33.27\00:18:36.34 for the best development to do service for God 00:18:36.38\00:18:39.85 and to work for the uplifting of humanity." 00:18:39.88\00:18:42.38 Amen. 00:18:42.42\00:18:43.75 And that is what we would like 00:18:43.79\00:18:45.32 in our education process at DayStar for our children. 00:18:45.35\00:18:48.92 You know, they do require a curriculum of, you know, 00:18:48.96\00:18:52.76 the educational, the academics portion. 00:18:52.79\00:18:54.93 But there's more to it. 00:18:54.96\00:18:56.30 We talked earlier, there's a balance. 00:18:56.33\00:18:57.67 You know, there is the academics, 00:18:57.70\00:18:59.43 and then there's also learning to work, 00:18:59.47\00:19:01.24 learning to work with your hands, 00:19:01.27\00:19:02.94 learning to take that process from planting 00:19:02.97\00:19:05.44 to taking it to farmers' market and selling it. 00:19:05.47\00:19:08.71 And that's, you know, 00:19:08.74\00:19:10.08 Matt has done a lot of research on that 00:19:10.11\00:19:11.45 and we've been blessed by his ministry 00:19:11.48\00:19:13.45 of helping us go through that process and learn. 00:19:13.48\00:19:16.99 Well, you know, academics is important obviously. 00:19:17.02\00:19:20.59 To survive in the world, but I think that, as parents, 00:19:20.62\00:19:24.89 the one thing that is so important 00:19:24.93\00:19:27.03 to instill in children 00:19:27.06\00:19:28.96 is that you teach them to have a good work ethic 00:19:29.00\00:19:31.97 because sometimes you will see a child, 00:19:32.00\00:19:34.77 or a young person, or even an older person 00:19:34.80\00:19:37.51 who can be quite brilliant in book learning, 00:19:37.54\00:19:40.58 they've accomplished many degrees, 00:19:40.61\00:19:42.41 but if they don't have a good work ethic, 00:19:42.44\00:19:45.58 nothing ever comes of it. 00:19:45.61\00:19:46.98 So there is that academic, the physical, 00:19:47.02\00:19:51.02 teaching them to have a good work ethic 00:19:51.05\00:19:53.76 and then of course the moral, 00:19:53.79\00:19:55.59 teaching them solid biblical foundations. 00:19:55.62\00:19:58.63 So, Matt, we're gonna turn you loose. 00:19:58.66\00:20:01.46 All right, so we've been studying as a group 00:20:01.50\00:20:06.30 going through and trying to determine 00:20:06.33\00:20:09.07 what the Lord's plan is for our school. 00:20:09.10\00:20:11.81 You know, we can have a group and ask what true education is? 00:20:11.84\00:20:15.54 And we could get everybody with a different answer. 00:20:15.58\00:20:20.45 So this is from "Counsels on Health" 00:20:20.48\00:20:24.15 and it says, 00:20:24.19\00:20:28.59 "If conducted in a manner the God could approve, 00:20:28.62\00:20:31.69 it would be highly successful and would stand in advance 00:20:31.73\00:20:35.03 of all other institutions of the kind in the world." 00:20:35.06\00:20:38.80 And this is talking about sanatorium. 00:20:38.83\00:20:40.17 Sanatorium that I believe it applies here. 00:20:40.20\00:20:44.11 "Great light, great knowledge 00:20:44.14\00:20:46.17 and superior privileges were given." 00:20:46.21\00:20:48.91 So we have great light, 00:20:48.94\00:20:50.78 we've been given vast amounts of knowledge, 00:20:50.81\00:20:53.28 and many privileges. 00:20:53.31\00:20:55.52 "And in accordance with the light received 00:20:55.55\00:20:58.05 would be the responsibility 00:20:58.09\00:20:59.62 of those to whom the carrying forward 00:20:59.65\00:21:02.46 of the institution was entrusted." 00:21:02.49\00:21:05.29 So we feel that, as leaders, 00:21:05.33\00:21:08.13 it's our responsibility to dig and dig 00:21:08.16\00:21:11.30 and to see what the Lord has called us to do. 00:21:11.33\00:21:14.60 So what age group, 00:21:14.64\00:21:17.01 when we're talking about an Adventist Academy, 00:21:17.04\00:21:19.87 DayStar Adventist Academy. 00:21:19.91\00:21:21.24 What age group is coming there as boarding students? 00:21:21.28\00:21:27.08 It would be high school, freshmen through seniors. 00:21:27.12\00:21:29.28 Okay. 00:21:29.32\00:21:30.65 We are cautious about freshmen, 00:21:30.69\00:21:32.32 only because generally the maturity of the student 00:21:32.35\00:21:35.16 is not able to be away from home and handle, 00:21:35.19\00:21:37.86 you know, some of the things. 00:21:37.89\00:21:39.23 So we try to be very fair but also really dig 00:21:39.26\00:21:43.67 into the acceptance of students, 00:21:43.70\00:21:47.10 but basically, it's high school students. 00:21:47.14\00:21:48.64 Okay. Yes. And this is a smaller school. 00:21:48.67\00:21:51.37 About what-- 00:21:51.41\00:21:52.74 Fifteen to twenty-five students, 00:21:52.77\00:21:54.18 generally, depending-- 00:21:54.21\00:21:56.11 And how many teachers do you have? 00:21:56.14\00:21:57.98 I mean, how many people are involved in teaching them? 00:21:58.01\00:22:00.42 We have three to four teachers this year. 00:22:00.45\00:22:02.75 Wonderful. But everyone's a teacher. 00:22:02.78\00:22:05.39 Right! 00:22:05.42\00:22:06.76 I'm a teacher, Randy's a teacher in their area, so-- 00:22:06.79\00:22:10.66 Okay, so in your own words, Matt, 00:22:10.69\00:22:12.36 what do you think true education is? 00:22:12.39\00:22:14.86 I think it's a lot like character development. 00:22:14.90\00:22:16.77 Okay. 00:22:16.80\00:22:18.13 I don't wake up and fully understand 00:22:18.17\00:22:20.60 true education. 00:22:20.64\00:22:22.47 You know, the true education, it's a lifetime process 00:22:22.50\00:22:29.38 of following what the Lord has told you to do. 00:22:29.41\00:22:31.11 Right. 00:22:31.15\00:22:32.48 So, you know, one of the things that we learned this year 00:22:32.51\00:22:35.65 that we've been relearning as that 00:22:35.68\00:22:37.82 we're told that teachers should work with their students, 00:22:37.85\00:22:40.86 so we started a program-- 00:22:40.89\00:22:42.49 When you say work, in what way? 00:22:42.52\00:22:44.56 In manual labor. All right. 00:22:44.59\00:22:46.26 Side by side, in the dirt, in the kitchen, 00:22:46.29\00:22:49.43 wherever the need is. 00:22:49.46\00:22:51.93 So we started a program this year that made it happen. 00:22:51.97\00:22:56.84 So every day, teachers, staff would work with students. 00:22:56.87\00:23:00.51 Wonderful. 00:23:00.54\00:23:01.88 So we had a beehive activity 00:23:01.91\00:23:04.98 where, you know, forty people would be out 00:23:05.01\00:23:07.45 and about the whole campus working. 00:23:07.48\00:23:09.68 Wonderful. 00:23:09.72\00:23:11.05 And-- 00:23:11.09\00:23:12.42 I think of 2 Corinthians 3:18, 00:23:12.45\00:23:13.99 that, you know, we become what we behold. 00:23:14.02\00:23:17.13 You can tell a child something, 00:23:17.16\00:23:18.66 but when you're actually out and implementing it, 00:23:18.69\00:23:21.60 doing it yourself, it's much more motivational. 00:23:21.63\00:23:25.53 And you know, sometimes, the students don't understand 00:23:25.57\00:23:28.17 how busy everybody is. 00:23:28.20\00:23:29.84 They just see their little world. 00:23:29.87\00:23:31.64 And so it becomes us-and-them type of mentality, you know, 00:23:31.67\00:23:35.01 "Oh, we're out here working. 00:23:35.04\00:23:36.38 How come they never have to work?" 00:23:36.41\00:23:37.75 And they don't see what we're doing all day long. 00:23:37.78\00:23:39.78 And this program, 00:23:39.81\00:23:41.92 it actually required all staff to participate. 00:23:41.95\00:23:45.15 And it's been a real blessing because we have, 00:23:45.19\00:23:47.49 number one, come together as staff and students, 00:23:47.52\00:23:49.62 they realize it, 00:23:49.66\00:23:50.99 you know, we're willing to work along with them. 00:23:51.03\00:23:52.83 We get more done because everybody works together. 00:23:52.86\00:23:55.40 You know, the Bible says, many hands make the work light. 00:23:55.43\00:23:58.37 And it's just been a real blessing 00:23:58.40\00:24:01.77 to see the change in attitude 00:24:01.80\00:24:03.34 that the students are more accepting of some of the staff 00:24:03.37\00:24:06.27 that they kind of maybe didn't understand at first 00:24:06.31\00:24:08.51 because we're all there working together, 00:24:08.54\00:24:10.51 and we're learning together. 00:24:10.55\00:24:11.88 Sometimes the students actually teach us. 00:24:11.91\00:24:13.62 I mean, the students are the ones 00:24:13.65\00:24:15.08 that have been working on the farm 00:24:15.12\00:24:16.75 and so we as staff come down to help. 00:24:16.79\00:24:18.62 I don't work in the greenhouse a lot, 00:24:18.65\00:24:20.46 so I need to know what to do. 00:24:20.49\00:24:21.82 Now they teach me. 00:24:21.86\00:24:23.19 I think we have a picture of your greenhouse, don't we? 00:24:23.22\00:24:25.43 Yes. That would be the third one. 00:24:25.46\00:24:26.96 This is our current greenhouse. 00:24:27.00\00:24:28.96 And what is the size of this greenhouse? 00:24:29.00\00:24:31.30 It's quite-- 00:24:31.33\00:24:32.67 This is about 20,000 square feet. 00:24:32.70\00:24:34.47 That's almost half an acre. Wonderful. 00:24:34.50\00:24:36.81 And what do you do 00:24:36.84\00:24:38.34 with the produce that you produce? 00:24:38.37\00:24:40.84 We sell locally, we sell to restaurants, coops, 00:24:40.88\00:24:44.91 farmers' market, we do sell to whole foods 00:24:44.95\00:24:48.78 from Salt Lake from time to time. 00:24:48.82\00:24:51.45 And I imagine you eat a good portion of it yourself, right? 00:24:51.49\00:24:54.16 Right, we use it. Yeah. Fresh fair. 00:24:54.19\00:24:56.16 In the cafeteria, so the goal is to get kids 00:24:56.19\00:25:00.03 from the beginning of the process to the end. 00:25:00.06\00:25:02.96 So they grow it, they cook it, they eat it, 00:25:03.00\00:25:06.17 the full spectrum. 00:25:06.20\00:25:07.54 And they learn to market it as well. 00:25:07.57\00:25:08.90 That's right. 00:25:08.94\00:25:10.27 But now I know that you have a very special project. 00:25:10.31\00:25:14.74 Let's just jump into that 00:25:14.78\00:25:16.21 because you've got a half acre sized greenhouse, 00:25:16.24\00:25:20.18 which sounds good sized to me. 00:25:20.22\00:25:22.05 But what are you looking at that's down in Kentucky? 00:25:22.08\00:25:25.72 Well, we're in the process of acquiring 00:25:25.75\00:25:30.36 and bringing 72,000 square feet greenhouse back to Utah. 00:25:30.39\00:25:34.20 Mercy. 00:25:34.23\00:25:36.26 Do we have a picture of that on-- 00:25:36.30\00:25:37.70 We do. Good. 00:25:37.73\00:25:39.07 That is incredible! 72,000 square feet! 00:25:39.10\00:25:43.74 Yeah. What is that acreage wise? 00:25:43.77\00:25:46.84 About one-three, well over one-three quarter. 00:25:46.88\00:25:48.94 So nearly a two acre greenhouse. 00:25:48.98\00:25:51.88 Yes. 00:25:51.91\00:25:53.25 You can barely see it, but in the picture, 00:25:53.28\00:25:54.62 there is a full sized, 15 passenger Ford Econline van 00:25:54.65\00:25:57.89 with a trailer parked outside just to, kind of, 00:25:57.92\00:26:00.66 give you a perspective of how huge this thing is. 00:26:00.69\00:26:03.19 Now that's huge. Yeah. 00:26:03.22\00:26:04.73 The first time I went down, 00:26:04.76\00:26:06.09 I was on the first run with Matt 00:26:06.13\00:26:07.73 and I walked in there and I just, I was amazed. 00:26:07.76\00:26:10.70 It was just like, "This is huge." 00:26:10.73\00:26:14.27 But you know, it was really kind of disappointing to me 00:26:14.30\00:26:16.71 because there was a lot of trash and stuff in there. 00:26:16.74\00:26:19.07 And we all ganged up and we cleaned that place up 00:26:19.11\00:26:21.44 the first half of the very first day. 00:26:21.48\00:26:22.91 And after that was done, it was just amazing, 00:26:22.94\00:26:24.95 the transformation that took place. 00:26:24.98\00:26:26.38 It was like, I was extremely excited. 00:26:26.41\00:26:29.02 Okay, so you've got this big 72, 000 square foot greenhouse. 00:26:29.05\00:26:35.69 And the idea is to bring this back from Kentucky, 00:26:35.72\00:26:39.66 you need to transport that to Utah. 00:26:39.69\00:26:46.37 Where are you in this process right now? 00:26:46.40\00:26:49.00 Has that been disassembled or-- 00:26:49.04\00:26:51.57 Can I give a quick history? 00:26:51.61\00:26:52.94 Sure. Okay. 00:26:52.97\00:26:54.98 We went out. I found this on Thanksgiving. 00:26:55.01\00:26:59.25 And we looked at it and said it's too big 00:26:59.28\00:27:01.12 and it popped back up in the spring 00:27:01.15\00:27:04.15 and we decided to go and look at it. 00:27:04.19\00:27:07.16 And we all thought that it was a great deal. 00:27:07.19\00:27:12.26 Price wise. 00:27:12.29\00:27:13.63 Price wise, 00:27:13.66\00:27:15.00 and that it would benefit the school. 00:27:15.03\00:27:16.73 So we went out and we had an arrangement with a guy. 00:27:16.77\00:27:20.84 We said, I called him and asked him, you know, 00:27:20.87\00:27:23.00 would you hold it if I came up with $10,000? 00:27:23.04\00:27:25.87 And he said, "Sure." 00:27:25.91\00:27:27.24 And I said, "Okay, well, I don't have $10,000, 00:27:27.28\00:27:28.74 but I'll see what we can do." 00:27:28.78\00:27:30.51 And so we called him back 00:27:30.55\00:27:32.75 and said, "Okay, we got the money. 00:27:32.78\00:27:34.48 I'm gonna come out and look at it." 00:27:34.52\00:27:36.32 I came out and looked at it, everything looked great. 00:27:36.35\00:27:39.45 Rode my truck, got into the car, 00:27:39.49\00:27:41.79 and about half an hour later, 00:27:41.82\00:27:43.43 I got a call saying that the $10,000 fell through. 00:27:43.46\00:27:47.76 And at that point, I had peace. 00:27:47.80\00:27:50.90 I knew that the Lord was working 00:27:50.93\00:27:53.40 and that the devil was working. 00:27:53.44\00:27:54.77 Yes. 00:27:54.80\00:27:56.14 And that same day, 00:27:56.17\00:27:57.51 another farmer came out to look at it 00:27:57.54\00:27:58.87 and he said that out of the blue. 00:27:58.91\00:28:00.24 You know if you need the money 00:28:00.28\00:28:01.94 to keep the project rolling let me know, didn't ask him. 00:28:01.98\00:28:05.51 So a farmer, not that's bidding against you on this. 00:28:05.55\00:28:10.05 This is a farmer who-- 00:28:10.09\00:28:11.42 Friend. Friend, Okay. 00:28:11.45\00:28:12.79 Who lives in the area. All right. 00:28:12.82\00:28:14.39 And so I called him the next morning and he said, 00:28:14.42\00:28:17.39 you know, "What you said, was that true?" 00:28:17.43\00:28:20.03 and he said, "Let me talk to my wife." 00:28:20.06\00:28:21.40 He called back and said, 00:28:21.43\00:28:22.76 "We're gonna put in $36,000," which was the purchase price. 00:28:22.80\00:28:25.53 Wow. 00:28:25.57\00:28:26.90 So you guys can start tearing it down. 00:28:26.94\00:28:30.41 I said, "Great. 00:28:30.44\00:28:32.41 I don't know how we're gonna start tearing it down. 00:28:32.44\00:28:34.34 I guess the same way you eat an elephant, 00:28:34.38\00:28:36.14 one bite at a time. 00:28:36.18\00:28:37.88 We had spring break coming up in a week and I came back 00:28:37.91\00:28:41.02 and talked to Randy and he said, 00:28:41.05\00:28:42.38 "Hey, do you want to go to Kentucky 00:28:42.42\00:28:44.32 start tearing down this greenhouse." 00:28:44.35\00:28:46.79 And he said, "Sure." No, I didn't. 00:28:46.82\00:28:49.59 I said, "No, I don't really want to." 00:28:49.62\00:28:52.29 I'll be honest but I said, "You know what Matt? 00:28:52.33\00:28:54.30 I will go." and I'm so happy I didn't go. 00:28:54.33\00:28:56.40 Yeah. 00:28:56.43\00:28:57.77 So we got a group of about ten, 00:28:57.80\00:29:00.04 went out there for a week 00:29:00.07\00:29:01.40 and worked sun up till sun down. 00:29:01.44\00:29:03.17 I'll bet you did. And then some, yes. 00:29:03.20\00:29:04.77 And then some nights till 10:30 at night, 00:29:04.81\00:29:09.54 we had snow, lightning, miserable weather, 00:29:09.58\00:29:12.91 but it was a blessing. 00:29:12.95\00:29:15.38 We came back, we still don't know 00:29:15.42\00:29:17.19 how we're gonna get it torn down 00:29:17.22\00:29:18.99 other than the school had a mission trip 00:29:19.02\00:29:20.72 planned in the spring in April 00:29:20.76\00:29:23.56 that they cancelled at Christmas for some reason. 00:29:23.59\00:29:27.40 So we had two weeks available. 00:29:27.43\00:29:29.23 And I said, "Well, let's just take the school." 00:29:29.26\00:29:31.87 So we got half the students, 00:29:31.90\00:29:34.37 we took them out there and some staff, 00:29:34.40\00:29:35.80 and we had about 20 people 00:29:35.84\00:29:38.11 and we worked for two weeks tearing it down. 00:29:38.14\00:29:42.48 Now your school's not all boys. 00:29:42.51\00:29:45.81 It's boys and girls. No. Boys and girls. 00:29:45.85\00:29:47.48 And actually did you say, I thinking in the green room 00:29:47.52\00:29:49.58 you told me the girls usually outnumber the boys. 00:29:49.62\00:29:52.19 Generally speaking, this year was an oddity 00:29:52.22\00:29:54.19 because we had 12 boys. 00:29:54.22\00:29:56.16 But normally it's 12 to 15 girls 00:29:56.19\00:29:58.76 and the rest are boys. 00:29:58.79\00:30:00.13 Okay. 00:30:00.16\00:30:01.60 So that looks like 00:30:01.63\00:30:04.60 that was major project to get this torn down. 00:30:04.63\00:30:07.27 Yeah. It's a major project. 00:30:07.30\00:30:09.54 Nobody thought we could do it 00:30:09.57\00:30:11.01 and there was many days that I had doubts. 00:30:11.04\00:30:13.58 But at the end of two weeks, it's all on the ground, 00:30:13.61\00:30:16.64 most of it's bundled up, ready for shipping. 00:30:16.68\00:30:19.98 Right, so now how will you ship this back to Utah? 00:30:20.02\00:30:24.42 By truck? Okay. By truck. Yeah. 00:30:24.45\00:30:26.45 It's gonna be four to five semis. 00:30:26.49\00:30:29.82 So that's quite an expensive process. 00:30:29.86\00:30:32.56 It is. 00:30:32.59\00:30:33.93 All right, do you have the funds for that? 00:30:33.96\00:30:35.70 We do not have all the funds. 00:30:35.73\00:30:38.23 The greenhouse was 36,000 and it's about 20,000 to ship. 00:30:38.27\00:30:42.74 Twenty thousand. Twenty thousand. 00:30:42.77\00:30:45.11 So currently we have 30,000, so we're 20,000 short. 00:30:45.14\00:30:51.15 Well, now if my math is right, 00:30:51.18\00:30:52.51 that's actually twenty-six thousand short, 00:30:52.55\00:30:54.58 'cause you've paid the 36,000 to the owner of this, 00:30:54.62\00:30:59.89 previous owner of the greenhouse, 00:30:59.92\00:31:01.42 the greenhouse is paid for, 00:31:01.46\00:31:03.19 but that was the 36, 000 was loaned to you. 00:31:03.22\00:31:05.83 So you've raised 30,000 00:31:05.86\00:31:07.70 you still have another 6,000 to pay him back 00:31:07.73\00:31:10.43 and then you need 20,000 for the shipping. 00:31:10.47\00:31:13.47 Is that correct? That's right. 00:31:13.50\00:31:14.84 So, you need $26,000 00:31:14.87\00:31:16.54 or what you could also maybe do is we can make an appeal. 00:31:16.57\00:31:21.14 You have kind of a soft deadline 00:31:21.18\00:31:23.31 that the owner wants the greenhouse off the property 00:31:23.35\00:31:26.35 by June the 30th? 00:31:26.38\00:31:28.88 Maybe you could sneak a few more days, 00:31:28.92\00:31:31.02 there maybe someone who is watching 00:31:31.05\00:31:33.32 or listening by radio and maybe you're a trucker 00:31:33.36\00:31:36.62 or you know a trucker 00:31:36.66\00:31:37.99 who might be dead heading from the East Coast 00:31:38.03\00:31:40.96 and going back West that could whiz by 00:31:41.00\00:31:44.03 and pick up your greenhouse in Kentucky 00:31:44.07\00:31:47.10 and take it to Utah. 00:31:47.14\00:31:49.40 Actually, you need three trucks, don't you? 00:31:49.44\00:31:51.57 Four. Four trucks, okay. 00:31:51.61\00:31:53.58 Well, maybe we can get several truckers 00:31:53.61\00:31:55.38 or somebody that could help send in some funds 00:31:55.41\00:31:58.25 to help pay for this. 00:31:58.28\00:32:00.48 You know, when we were doing 00:32:00.52\00:32:01.85 the Ten Commandments Twice Removed 00:32:01.88\00:32:03.49 and we needed to truck huge amounts of books 00:32:03.52\00:32:07.29 to various places, 00:32:07.32\00:32:08.66 we did have wonderful blessed people 00:32:08.69\00:32:12.36 who would come and volunteer their trucks. 00:32:12.39\00:32:15.46 It was just so amazing and they transported it for us. 00:32:15.50\00:32:19.63 Let me ask you this because I know you're tired, 00:32:19.67\00:32:22.64 you've had a long week, but why is this important? 00:32:22.67\00:32:26.44 Why did you want to get this nearly two acre greenhouse? 00:32:26.47\00:32:31.71 What impact will that have on the school? 00:32:31.75\00:32:33.95 What impact does it have on the students? 00:32:33.98\00:32:36.82 Well, financially, it has an impact on the school 00:32:36.85\00:32:40.09 because we can grow food all year round. 00:32:40.12\00:32:42.79 We have markets that want food. 00:32:42.82\00:32:45.23 We have people that are begging for food, 00:32:45.26\00:32:47.60 we have food that we eat ourselves. 00:32:47.63\00:32:51.40 So we would like the opportunity 00:32:51.43\00:32:54.17 to train students how to grow food year round, 00:32:54.20\00:33:00.14 to get them a better growing environment, 00:33:00.18\00:33:02.54 it's very cold, dark in the winter. 00:33:02.58\00:33:05.85 And you know we have grown, 00:33:05.88\00:33:08.02 we shown in our greenhouse this year 00:33:08.05\00:33:09.38 that we can grow salad, and kale, and carrots, 00:33:09.42\00:33:13.15 and beets, and all these other things. 00:33:13.19\00:33:15.76 So we'd like a better opportunity 00:33:15.79\00:33:18.43 to educate the youth on a year on basis. 00:33:18.46\00:33:22.73 And how does that affect-- 00:33:22.76\00:33:24.47 I mean, for myself, I know 00:33:24.50\00:33:27.00 that I wasn't brought up gardening and things, 00:33:27.04\00:33:30.14 but when I first started working in a garden, 00:33:30.17\00:33:32.37 there's something that's just very satisfying about that. 00:33:32.41\00:33:37.08 How do your students react? It's a transforming operation. 00:33:37.11\00:33:40.62 You put the little plant in the ground, 00:33:40.65\00:33:42.25 then you see it come up, it thrives. 00:33:42.28\00:33:44.29 You see the students go down there 00:33:44.32\00:33:45.72 if they haven't been used to working 00:33:45.75\00:33:47.19 or may be they "hate the farm," 00:33:47.22\00:33:50.46 when they get into this process, 00:33:50.49\00:33:51.83 when they put their feet or their hands in the dirt 00:33:51.86\00:33:54.43 to watch these things grow 00:33:54.46\00:33:55.80 and they watch it grow from the tiny little seedling 00:33:55.83\00:33:57.87 up to including bearing fruit and harvesting. 00:33:57.90\00:34:01.00 It makes a big difference in their lives. 00:34:01.04\00:34:02.54 They have completed something. 00:34:02.57\00:34:04.81 I mean, they feel like, "Wow, God let me be part of this." 00:34:04.84\00:34:08.24 You know, and it does change them. 00:34:08.28\00:34:10.31 There have been several students 00:34:10.35\00:34:11.68 that absolutely hated going down to the farm, 00:34:11.71\00:34:14.68 but when they work with Matt, and Shawn, and others, 00:34:14.72\00:34:16.72 and watch these plants grow, 00:34:16.75\00:34:18.42 they are absolutely transformed themselves 00:34:18.45\00:34:20.96 because now it's like, 00:34:20.99\00:34:22.56 I had to ask some kids to go work for the cafe 00:34:22.59\00:34:25.46 and I took the farm group and I said, 00:34:25.49\00:34:26.83 I need, you know, couple of volunteers. 00:34:26.86\00:34:28.70 Nobody wanted to volunteer, 00:34:28.73\00:34:30.07 'cause they all loved being on the farm. 00:34:30.10\00:34:32.37 So it really makes a difference. 00:34:32.40\00:34:34.47 It gives them some sort of completion or fulfillment 00:34:34.50\00:34:37.01 that they watched this process 00:34:37.04\00:34:38.41 and they've been part of the process. 00:34:38.44\00:34:39.87 Yeah. Oh yeah. What great teaching moments. 00:34:39.91\00:34:42.08 Because now you can talk about the Word of God is like seed 00:34:42.11\00:34:45.71 and how it just blossoms and grows overnight 00:34:45.75\00:34:49.05 without anyone knowing it. 00:34:49.08\00:34:50.42 There's some great moral lessons, 00:34:50.45\00:34:52.92 great biblical lessons that can be all tied into that. 00:34:52.95\00:34:56.22 And you know it's something 00:34:56.26\00:34:58.39 that they can pick up themselves. 00:34:58.43\00:35:00.30 They don't have to be told the lessons 00:35:00.33\00:35:02.00 as they're working with these plants, 00:35:02.03\00:35:03.37 as they're going through this process, 00:35:03.40\00:35:05.00 the Word of God speaks to their heart 00:35:05.03\00:35:06.87 and they can make that comparison, 00:35:06.90\00:35:08.24 they can say, "Oh, I know now, it makes sense to me." 00:35:08.27\00:35:11.61 You know. Yes, amen. 00:35:11.64\00:35:13.94 And I think one of our biggest goals there 00:35:13.98\00:35:16.38 is to, you know, teach the Word of God, 00:35:16.41\00:35:22.38 not teach about the Word of God. 00:35:22.42\00:35:23.95 Amen. 00:35:23.99\00:35:25.32 Teach God's creative power, 00:35:25.35\00:35:28.79 not teach about His creative power. 00:35:28.82\00:35:31.49 So these are the opportunities that our students have 00:35:31.53\00:35:34.03 that are unique and different, 00:35:34.06\00:35:36.36 that we can take them to the soil 00:35:36.40\00:35:38.97 and get their hands in the soil 00:35:39.00\00:35:40.94 instead of showing pictures of soil. 00:35:40.97\00:35:44.27 Well, that's kind of life transforming 00:35:44.31\00:35:46.07 for you, wasn't it? 00:35:46.11\00:35:47.44 It was. 00:35:47.48\00:35:48.81 You had no interesting farming and the Lord brought you around 00:35:48.84\00:35:52.31 and made it something 00:35:52.35\00:35:54.35 that's had a strong impact on your life, obviously. 00:35:54.38\00:35:58.75 It has. 00:35:58.79\00:36:00.26 Okay, so tell us a little bit more than this project, 00:36:00.29\00:36:03.26 we just want if the Holy Spirit is impressing you, 00:36:03.29\00:36:06.23 we just pray that you will help. 00:36:06.26\00:36:08.33 They do need $26,000 more 00:36:08.36\00:36:10.60 or some truckers that would come in 00:36:10.63\00:36:12.93 and help just transport this for them 00:36:12.97\00:36:17.21 from Kentucky to Castle Valley, Utah. 00:36:17.24\00:36:20.68 I imagine, you'd feed them really well 00:36:20.71\00:36:22.21 when they got there. 00:36:22.24\00:36:23.58 Yeah. That we would. 00:36:23.61\00:36:25.61 Tell us a little bit more about future plans for the school. 00:36:25.65\00:36:30.55 Well, we would eventually like to be able to hold in house 00:36:30.59\00:36:36.02 about 50 students total. 00:36:36.06\00:36:38.63 And as we grow with this greenhouse, 00:36:38.66\00:36:41.70 it might allow us the funding to, you know, 00:36:41.73\00:36:44.43 help and make that process. 00:36:44.47\00:36:46.84 We want to beautify our campus, you know, even more, 00:36:46.87\00:36:49.44 make it prettier than it is, which is kind of hard but-- 00:36:49.47\00:36:53.54 I think God has done that for you. 00:36:53.58\00:36:54.91 Yeah, and you know with our desire 00:36:54.94\00:36:57.98 to really incorporate true education, 00:36:58.01\00:37:00.48 we want the Bible 00:37:00.52\00:37:01.85 to be the foundation of every single classroom, 00:37:01.88\00:37:04.79 English, math, science, you know, chemistry, 00:37:04.82\00:37:08.52 farming, welding, whatever, you know. 00:37:08.56\00:37:10.96 We want that, the Bible and the Bible alone 00:37:10.99\00:37:13.36 to be the foundation of everything. 00:37:13.40\00:37:15.23 And so those are our goals, you know, 00:37:15.26\00:37:17.03 we're always looking to gain knowledge 00:37:17.07\00:37:20.60 to be able to teach the kids that process. 00:37:20.64\00:37:23.27 We had a Bible teacher this year, 00:37:23.30\00:37:25.71 our brother, Brocky was just amazing. 00:37:25.74\00:37:27.44 The kids still thrived from him and all he did was just teach 00:37:27.48\00:37:30.91 from the foundation of the Word of God. 00:37:30.95\00:37:32.91 But they had to dig, they had to learn, 00:37:32.95\00:37:35.18 and they had to look for the answers, 00:37:35.22\00:37:37.09 and it really impacted them. 00:37:37.12\00:37:38.95 The graduation this year was, they say, 00:37:38.99\00:37:41.69 more spiritual than it has been for a long time. 00:37:41.72\00:37:44.16 Randy, you've been there, 00:37:44.19\00:37:46.90 you were there for three years as the boys' dean, 00:37:46.93\00:37:50.07 do you find that some kids come there 00:37:50.10\00:37:52.73 maybe because their parents don't know 00:37:52.77\00:37:55.20 what else to do with them, 00:37:55.24\00:37:56.57 or do we have some that show up like that or-- 00:37:56.60\00:37:59.44 We do, we don't accept "trouble kids." 00:37:59.47\00:38:02.78 But you know everybody has a past, 00:38:02.81\00:38:06.45 everybody has issues. 00:38:06.48\00:38:08.75 Sometimes the parents just don't know 00:38:08.78\00:38:10.12 what to do with them. 00:38:10.15\00:38:11.69 And so we take that child 00:38:11.72\00:38:13.62 and through working with Matt and Shawn on the farm, 00:38:13.66\00:38:16.16 working with me around, you know, 00:38:16.19\00:38:18.16 the school, working with me 00:38:18.19\00:38:19.86 or the girls' dean in the dorms. 00:38:19.89\00:38:22.60 You know, and my wife is the biggest part 00:38:22.63\00:38:25.47 of the boys' dean as I am. 00:38:25.50\00:38:27.40 We asked the dean 00:38:27.44\00:38:29.17 when we were getting ready to go there, 00:38:29.20\00:38:30.54 "What do we need to do?" 00:38:30.57\00:38:32.07 And he says, "The food that you feed them 00:38:32.11\00:38:33.68 and the time you spend with them 00:38:33.71\00:38:35.04 will make the difference." 00:38:35.08\00:38:36.41 And it does, it really does, 00:38:36.44\00:38:37.81 the time that we can spend with the kids 00:38:37.85\00:38:39.71 is way really makes the difference. 00:38:39.75\00:38:41.08 Sure. 00:38:41.12\00:38:42.45 So I didn't mean to imply 00:38:42.48\00:38:43.82 that you were taking trouble children by I just-- 00:38:43.85\00:38:45.19 No, no, no. 00:38:45.22\00:38:46.55 I just meant that as kids come 00:38:46.59\00:38:48.12 and I know that they come from all over. 00:38:48.16\00:38:50.33 I mean, it doesn't, you've got children 00:38:50.36\00:38:52.76 that are coming from east to west, 00:38:52.79\00:38:55.26 but do you see a big transformation in them 00:38:55.30\00:39:01.27 as they are there over the year, two years, 00:39:01.30\00:39:04.94 do you see them growing? 00:39:04.97\00:39:06.51 Oh, I do. I absolutely do. 00:39:06.54\00:39:08.68 It's, you know, 00:39:08.71\00:39:10.05 sometimes you beat your head against the wall 00:39:10.08\00:39:11.51 thinking, you know, am I making a difference. 00:39:11.55\00:39:13.45 And I'll just tell you a quick story. 00:39:13.48\00:39:15.05 We had a young man who came, he didn't want to be there. 00:39:15.08\00:39:18.22 He wasn't trouble, but, you know, 00:39:18.25\00:39:19.75 something his parents-- 00:39:19.79\00:39:21.16 And anyway, he was very bitter for having to be there. 00:39:21.19\00:39:23.96 So we just started working with him, started loving him. 00:39:23.99\00:39:27.26 Long story short, I came home one night, 00:39:27.30\00:39:30.07 I got home at 3'o clock in the morning, 00:39:30.10\00:39:31.77 I walked into my door, I looked at my right 00:39:31.80\00:39:33.94 and here's my dinning room table 00:39:33.97\00:39:35.30 in my living room, 00:39:35.34\00:39:36.67 and I'm thinking, what's going on? 00:39:36.71\00:39:38.84 And you know, I looked to my left, 00:39:38.87\00:39:40.88 and in my kitchen is a brand new, handmade, 00:39:40.91\00:39:43.61 eight foot long oak table that he made for us. 00:39:43.65\00:39:46.38 Wow. Yeah. 00:39:46.41\00:39:47.75 Wow. Yeah it is. 00:44:32.27\00:44:34.37 You know, I've always said that 00:44:34.40\00:44:35.77 if children have the opportunity 00:44:35.80\00:44:39.07 to either get involved with nature or farming, 00:44:39.11\00:44:43.61 get involved with the soil and seeing things produced, 00:44:43.65\00:44:47.42 or if they have that opportunity 00:44:47.45\00:44:48.98 to go on a mission trip, it can be life changing. 00:44:49.02\00:44:51.45 Now you also take mission trips, right? 00:44:51.49\00:44:53.25 We do, generally every year, 00:44:53.29\00:44:56.42 we try to go somewhere out of country if we can, 00:44:56.46\00:44:59.63 you know, to make a difference and on occasion, 00:44:59.66\00:45:02.70 just spur of the moment, mission trips come up. 00:45:02.73\00:45:06.84 We had one this year at around Christmas time. 00:45:06.87\00:45:09.30 There was an event going on in Myanmar, 00:45:09.34\00:45:11.47 which is the old Burma near Thailand 00:45:11.51\00:45:14.04 and they were going to train private ambulance company 00:45:14.08\00:45:18.38 to be the private ambulance company. 00:45:18.41\00:45:20.35 They didn't really have much official training. 00:45:20.38\00:45:22.55 I guess the country sponsored ambulance are a long ways away 00:45:22.58\00:45:27.26 and you know, not really much help. 00:45:27.29\00:45:28.79 So a doctor, an ER doctor, a friend of ours, 00:45:28.82\00:45:30.76 Dr. Michael Darson got with some friends 00:45:30.79\00:45:33.66 and one of those friends happened to be Brock, 00:45:33.70\00:45:35.63 our Bible worker, 00:45:35.66\00:45:37.00 and he started to talking to the students, 00:45:37.03\00:45:38.83 zero money, zero anything. 00:45:38.87\00:45:42.00 The students started praying, 00:45:42.04\00:45:45.87 any time that they would come into an issue, 00:45:45.91\00:45:48.24 they would get together and they would pray. 00:45:48.28\00:45:50.15 Money started coming in. 00:45:50.18\00:45:51.55 Before the end, every person that went, 00:45:51.58\00:45:54.52 their tickets were funded 00:45:54.55\00:45:55.98 and they had money to go on the trip. 00:45:56.02\00:45:57.52 Praise God. Yeah, it was amazing. 00:45:57.55\00:45:59.02 It was a miracle and-- 00:45:59.05\00:46:00.96 Oh, but I am just thinking how wonderful, 00:46:00.99\00:46:03.49 what an experience for young people 00:46:03.53\00:46:05.93 to learn this that God is your source. 00:46:05.96\00:46:07.73 It is. 00:46:07.76\00:46:09.10 And they still talk about it today. 00:46:09.13\00:46:10.47 It's amazing. 00:46:10.50\00:46:11.83 Well, one of the things that happen was, 00:46:11.87\00:46:13.20 they came in and their plane was late. 00:46:13.23\00:46:15.80 And I don't know if you know anything 00:46:15.84\00:46:17.17 about traveling through China, 00:46:17.21\00:46:18.54 but they're very strict and they got late 00:46:18.57\00:46:20.88 and their temporary visa was expired. 00:46:20.91\00:46:23.78 So they were coming in through customs, 00:46:23.81\00:46:26.15 my daughter got wished through 00:46:26.18\00:46:27.88 and then they stopped the rest of the group 00:46:27.92\00:46:29.82 and they took them to holding somewhere 00:46:29.85\00:46:32.32 and they were giving them a bad time. 00:46:32.35\00:46:34.12 It was Christmas day and one of the staff said, 00:46:34.16\00:46:36.73 "You know what lets just sing Christmas songs," 00:46:36.76\00:46:38.49 so they started singing Christmas songs, 00:46:38.53\00:46:40.43 it changed the whole demeanor of everybody in there, 00:46:40.46\00:46:43.06 they apologized to them, they gave them all gifts, 00:46:43.10\00:46:45.40 they escorted them, they held the plane, 00:46:45.43\00:46:47.27 they all got on the plane and they made it to Myanmar. 00:46:47.30\00:46:49.90 How wonderful! It was amazing. 00:46:49.94\00:46:52.94 Yeah, that would be a trip that they will be talking about 00:46:52.97\00:46:56.24 for the rest of their lives. 00:46:56.28\00:46:57.61 My daughter still talks about it today. 00:46:57.65\00:46:58.98 Amen. 00:46:59.01\00:47:00.35 And so, she uses those examples, 00:47:00.38\00:47:01.72 she uses those experiences. 00:47:01.75\00:47:03.08 She texted me today, she said, "Dad, we're praying for you." 00:47:03.12\00:47:05.75 Amen. 00:47:05.79\00:47:07.12 It's precious to see when young people 00:47:07.16\00:47:09.29 have developed that passion for prayer 00:47:09.32\00:47:12.09 and they know the value of the prayer of faith 00:47:12.13\00:47:14.70 and that's the beauty of what you're imparting 00:47:14.73\00:47:16.73 and I know you. 00:47:16.77\00:47:18.10 I just want to thank you both 00:47:18.13\00:47:19.47 because I know your hearts are filled with passion and zeal 00:47:19.50\00:47:21.94 for these young ones 00:47:21.97\00:47:23.30 and they're imparting not just an academic education 00:47:23.34\00:47:27.01 but they are imparting the truth of the Bible 00:47:27.04\00:47:29.54 that Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," 00:47:29.58\00:47:32.41 and that "if you know the truth, it'll set you free." 00:47:32.45\00:47:35.02 So they're doing everything from a biblical basis. 00:47:35.05\00:47:37.15 And these children are learning truly 00:47:37.19\00:47:40.89 what Christ-like character. 00:47:40.92\00:47:44.16 And then you've got the wonderful 00:47:44.19\00:47:46.56 physical element involved in there 00:47:46.59\00:47:49.66 where you are teaching them truly to-- 00:47:49.70\00:47:53.23 A good work ethic. 00:47:53.27\00:47:55.97 You might want to look at sending your child there 00:47:56.00\00:47:58.27 this coming year, it begins in August. 00:47:58.31\00:48:00.68 So now what we're going to do before we go to news break 00:48:00.71\00:48:03.85 is we would like to have another song 00:48:03.88\00:48:06.51 with Stephanie Dawn. 00:48:06.55\00:48:07.88 But this time she is going to sing a duet 00:48:07.92\00:48:10.32 with our own Pastor John Lomacang. 00:48:10.35\00:48:12.95 And they're going to sing, "Touch your people." 00:48:12.99\00:48:15.59 We need wisdom we need power 00:48:31.81\00:48:36.31 And true love for each other 00:48:36.34\00:48:39.35 We have had so many big but empty words 00:48:39.38\00:48:46.72 So we come before Your face 00:48:46.76\00:48:51.79 Asking for Your grace 00:48:51.83\00:48:54.73 Bring Your people to a state of kingdom life 00:48:54.76\00:49:01.60 Restore Your church again 00:49:01.64\00:49:08.31 Touch Your people once again 00:49:08.34\00:49:15.55 With Your precious holy hand 00:49:15.58\00:49:20.19 We pray 00:49:20.22\00:49:22.29 Let Your kingdom shine upon this earth 00:49:22.32\00:49:28.66 Through a living glorious church 00:49:28.70\00:49:35.34 Not for temporary deeds 00:49:35.37\00:49:41.64 But to restore authority and power 00:49:41.68\00:49:48.45 Let a mighty rushing wind 00:49:48.48\00:49:52.35 Blow in 00:49:52.39\00:49:57.89 Touch your people once again 00:49:57.93\00:50:04.30 Lord You see Your tired servants 00:50:13.27\00:50:18.61 And Your broken wounded soldiers 00:50:18.65\00:50:21.98 Oh how much we need Your precious healing hand 00:50:22.02\00:50:29.72 We need the power of the cross 00:50:29.76\00:50:34.46 As the only source for us 00:50:34.50\00:50:37.57 When we stand up facing final battle cry 00:50:37.60\00:50:44.34 Restore your church again 00:50:44.37\00:50:51.15 Touch Your people once again 00:50:51.18\00:50:58.42 With Your precious Holy Hand 00:50:58.45\00:51:03.16 We pray 00:51:03.19\00:51:05.13 Let Your kingdom shine upon this earth 00:51:05.16\00:51:11.70 Through a living glorious church 00:51:11.73\00:51:18.31 Not for temporary deeds 00:51:18.34\00:51:24.71 But to restore authority and power 00:51:24.75\00:51:31.55 Let a mighty rushing wind 00:51:31.59\00:51:35.49 Blow in 00:51:35.52\00:51:41.06 Touch your people once again 00:51:41.10\00:51:47.80 Let a mighty rushing wind 00:51:47.84\00:51:52.04 Blow in 00:51:52.07\00:51:57.71 Touch your people once again. 00:51:57.75\00:52:04.65
