Yes. 00:10:22.62\00:10:24.09 Now, what brothers and sisters are here in this country 00:10:24.12\00:10:26.05 if any with you? 00:10:26.09\00:10:27.42 Yes, I have one who works at the General Conference 00:10:27.46\00:10:30.89 and then I have another one who became a U.S. diplomat 00:10:30.93\00:10:34.40 working for the State Department 00:10:34.43\00:10:36.43 for 25 years, he retired. 00:10:36.46\00:10:40.04 So you are diagnosed, 00:10:40.07\00:10:43.71 you have obviously beaten it off. 00:10:43.74\00:10:46.64 Was it about that time 00:10:46.68\00:10:48.14 that this ministry was birthed in your heart? 00:10:48.18\00:10:50.71 Tell me how this concern for love for children 00:10:50.75\00:10:54.92 and Restore a Child actually got started. 00:10:54.95\00:10:57.29 Yes. 00:10:57.32\00:10:58.65 You know when I was still in the Middle East, 00:10:58.69\00:11:01.32 my father died, 00:11:01.36\00:11:03.36 and one American missionary family took me to their home. 00:11:03.39\00:11:08.00 Yes. 00:11:08.03\00:11:09.36 And they took care of me, 00:11:09.40\00:11:10.73 they were like my foster parents. 00:11:10.77\00:11:12.50 And I went to school and they had good education. 00:11:12.53\00:11:16.24 And my sister is, some of them did not 00:11:16.27\00:11:18.17 even finish high school, we were poor. 00:11:18.21\00:11:20.81 I had to clean the school when I was ten years old, 00:11:20.84\00:11:25.15 walk six miles every day, 00:11:25.18\00:11:27.65 and clean the school to pay for my Christian education. 00:11:27.68\00:11:32.72 It was so important. Yeah. 00:11:32.75\00:11:34.36 So obviously education is important to you, 00:11:34.39\00:11:37.33 and you paid for on your feet, and on your hands, 00:11:37.36\00:11:40.70 and cleaning, and I guess that's something 00:11:40.73\00:11:44.57 that's kind of stayed with you all of these years. 00:11:44.60\00:11:45.93 Yes. 00:11:45.97\00:11:47.30 You know, it's how my mom told us, 00:11:47.34\00:11:49.37 taught us that whatever you do, God sees you. 00:11:49.40\00:11:52.67 Do it unto God with all your heart even cleaning, 00:11:52.71\00:11:55.58 you know, whatever it is there 00:11:55.61\00:11:57.71 and no water in the bathrooms there, 00:11:57.75\00:12:00.52 I did everything. Oh, bless your heart. 00:12:00.55\00:12:02.15 It was a tough job but it builds character. 00:12:02.18\00:12:04.95 Oh, yeah. 00:12:04.99\00:12:06.32 And that's what we are trying to do with our children, 00:12:06.35\00:12:08.19 teach them the dignity of manual labor. 00:12:08.22\00:12:12.73 Yes. Yes. Yes. 00:12:12.76\00:12:14.53 All right, you're here, you're working at a GC, 00:12:14.56\00:12:17.40 you have to quit that. 00:12:17.43\00:12:18.93 Tell me how we actually got the birth of Restore a Child? 00:12:18.97\00:12:23.37 You know, I knew when I got cancer, 00:12:23.41\00:12:26.64 God would not give me that disease to punish me 00:12:26.68\00:12:32.15 because one year earlier, I had committed, 00:12:32.18\00:12:34.78 recommitted my life completely to him. 00:12:34.82\00:12:37.29 I had peace with him, really, really I was, 00:12:37.32\00:12:40.96 you know, I'm in love with, with Jesus. 00:12:40.99\00:12:43.49 I mean, I was at peace, and then I get cancer. 00:12:43.53\00:12:47.40 I said, "God has something good coming out of it, 00:12:47.43\00:12:51.60 I had no idea." 00:12:51.63\00:12:52.97 Okay. 00:12:53.00\00:12:54.34 So I did not pray for healing not once, 00:12:54.37\00:12:56.47 and as a woman, we cry. 00:12:56.50\00:12:58.21 I didn't cry. 00:12:58.24\00:12:59.57 I did nothing, I was happy. 00:12:59.61\00:13:01.88 I was going to take treatments and coming to work, 00:13:01.91\00:13:04.55 and they say you are smiling, you have cancer. 00:13:04.58\00:13:07.15 I said, ''God is working. He has something good coming." 00:13:07.18\00:13:11.32 What's interesting is 00:13:11.35\00:13:12.69 after you give your life to Christ, 00:13:12.72\00:13:14.06 you get everything straight. Yes. 00:13:14.09\00:13:15.42 You give your life to the Lord. 00:13:15.46\00:13:16.79 Now, I get cancer you know, 00:13:16.83\00:13:18.93 it's kind of bad timing, but it didn't... 00:13:18.96\00:13:21.80 Obviously, it didn't destroy your world, 00:13:21.83\00:13:23.53 it didn't devastate you. No. No. 00:13:23.57\00:13:25.00 You took it in stride. 00:13:25.03\00:13:26.37 I knew it. Yeah. 00:13:26.40\00:13:28.54 I had a good relationship with God. 00:13:28.57\00:13:29.97 Praise the Lord. 00:13:30.01\00:13:31.34 Something good will come out 00:13:31.37\00:13:32.71 and that was the birth of Restore a Child. 00:13:32.74\00:13:35.14 So these are the days when this idea occurred to you. 00:13:35.18\00:13:37.25 Yes. 00:13:37.28\00:13:38.61 Was it in discussing with somebody else 00:13:38.65\00:13:39.98 or you just remembered your own. 00:13:40.02\00:13:41.35 Now, you didn't, we didn't really go into this too much 00:13:41.38\00:13:43.69 but, but you spent some time, was it as an orphan yourself? 00:13:43.72\00:13:48.32 Walk me through that experience? 00:13:48.36\00:13:50.26 No, I mean, because we had a good mother. 00:13:50.29\00:13:52.13 Yes. 00:13:52.16\00:13:53.50 My father was alcoholic. 00:13:53.53\00:13:54.86 Wow! I see. 00:13:54.90\00:13:56.23 And he never talked to me, I mean he was absent father. 00:13:56.26\00:13:59.80 So his death did not affected me at least, 00:13:59.83\00:14:04.64 but I had siblings who were very young. 00:14:04.67\00:14:06.64 I see, I see. 00:14:06.68\00:14:08.01 My mother had to work very hard then till she became blind 00:14:08.04\00:14:11.01 and she couldn't work anymore serving for people. 00:14:11.05\00:14:13.98 Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. 00:14:14.02\00:14:16.02 So obviously, it developed in you a certain sensitivity 00:14:16.05\00:14:19.45 for young kids who cannot help themselves. 00:14:19.49\00:14:21.02 Yes. Yeah, yeah. 00:14:21.06\00:14:22.72 So, okay, you got this love, you got this history, 00:14:22.76\00:14:25.03 you got this background. 00:14:25.06\00:14:26.39 How does that translate into a ministry? 00:14:26.43\00:14:28.56 How did you take this care, this concern you have, 00:14:28.60\00:14:32.90 and then turn that care into ministry? 00:14:32.93\00:14:35.54 One thing I wish I can explain how I do things. 00:14:35.57\00:14:39.07 Yes. 00:14:39.11\00:14:40.44 I don't have training. 00:14:40.48\00:14:41.81 You know, I didn't finish college 00:14:41.84\00:14:43.31 because my mom said, "Come back and help me." 00:14:43.35\00:14:45.45 Yes. 00:14:45.48\00:14:46.82 So I didn't have... 00:14:46.85\00:14:48.38 I don't know marketing, fundraising, writing, 00:14:48.42\00:14:51.45 I know nothing about this. 00:14:51.49\00:14:53.59 But I knew that God will help me. 00:14:53.62\00:14:56.09 Yes. 00:14:56.12\00:14:57.46 So I started this one. 00:14:57.49\00:14:59.29 I couldn't start overseas, 00:14:59.33\00:15:01.70 when there is a lot in Washington D.C., 00:15:01.73\00:15:04.10 African-American poverty like so bad. 00:15:04.13\00:15:06.87 Very much so. 00:15:06.90\00:15:08.24 So I said, "I cannot love children overseas 00:15:08.27\00:15:11.74 when I can't love the people around me." 00:15:11.77\00:15:14.01 So I started with Washington D.C. 00:15:14.04\00:15:16.04 helping children and then we grew from there, 00:15:16.08\00:15:19.38 and it became a big mystery. 00:15:19.41\00:15:21.08 And of course, I knew, I had to have a board 00:15:21.12\00:15:24.69 so we established a board. 00:15:24.72\00:15:26.25 We had to have a CPA, so I don't handle money at all, 00:15:26.29\00:15:30.26 I don't sign checks, I don't do anything. 00:15:30.29\00:15:32.16 I do the work. 00:15:32.19\00:15:33.60 So it is a ministry that is very credible, 00:15:33.63\00:15:38.47 it works with integrity, sustain... 00:15:38.50\00:15:41.37 I mean a transparency and accountability. 00:15:41.40\00:15:45.74 Yes. And that's our strength. 00:15:45.77\00:15:48.31 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:15:48.34\00:15:49.68 And I don't take a salary. 00:15:49.71\00:15:51.05 You do not? No, 16 years. 00:15:51.08\00:15:53.01 Bless your heart. Bless your heart. 00:15:53.05\00:15:55.75 That's really a testament to the dedication 00:15:55.78\00:15:59.65 that you have for this particular ministry. 00:15:59.69\00:16:03.22 You had to surround yourself with competent people 00:16:03.26\00:16:06.06 and then you got to trust them. 00:16:06.09\00:16:07.43 You know, that they're doing, they're doing their job 00:16:07.46\00:16:09.06 and evidently they're doing what they're been called to do 00:16:09.10\00:16:11.37 because the ministry is flourishing. 00:16:11.40\00:16:12.73 Yes. 00:16:12.77\00:16:14.10 When did you have your first... just what I want, 00:16:14.14\00:16:18.27 your first extension of this ministry 00:16:18.31\00:16:20.48 outside of the United States. 00:16:20.51\00:16:22.41 The first one was in my country Jordan. 00:16:22.44\00:16:25.41 So when I got cancer, I went to... 00:16:25.45\00:16:27.85 I went to see my country. Yes. 00:16:27.88\00:16:30.29 I said, maybe I won't come back, 00:16:30.32\00:16:32.75 so I went to the school. 00:16:32.79\00:16:34.12 Feeling a little nostalgic. Yes. 00:16:34.16\00:16:35.49 I went to the school that I used to clean. 00:16:35.52\00:16:37.63 And I saw them sending two children home 00:16:37.66\00:16:41.26 and the kids were crying. 00:16:41.30\00:16:42.63 So I told them, 00:16:42.66\00:16:44.00 "Why did you send these kids home? 00:16:44.03\00:16:45.47 They said, "Because they don't have money to pay tuition." 00:16:45.50\00:16:48.57 I said, "You punish children because of poverty?" 00:16:48.60\00:16:52.51 And so this is when I decided I have to start helping. 00:16:52.54\00:16:55.38 You have to do something. Yes. Yeah. 00:16:55.41\00:16:57.35 And so, and I may have asked this moment ago. 00:16:57.38\00:16:59.88 Your first one was, was it in Jordan? 00:16:59.91\00:17:01.95 The first... 00:17:01.98\00:17:03.32 The first one was before I even went, 00:17:03.35\00:17:05.09 it was here in my backyard... 00:17:05.12\00:17:06.45 Okay, I understand. 00:17:06.49\00:17:07.82 In my backyard. 00:17:07.86\00:17:09.19 Okay, very good, very good, okay. 00:17:09.22\00:17:10.83 So you're trying to set this thing, 00:17:10.86\00:17:12.29 was there anybody with you to give you encouragement 00:17:12.33\00:17:14.50 or to help you with logistics, put it together 00:17:14.53\00:17:17.10 or it just sort of came out of your heart. 00:17:17.13\00:17:18.50 Yes. Yeah. 00:17:18.53\00:17:19.87 I had nobody. 00:17:19.90\00:17:21.24 Wow. Wow. Wow. 00:17:21.27\00:17:23.07 That is really something to, to you know to know 00:17:23.10\00:17:27.74 that it will spur, spur you on. 00:17:27.78\00:17:29.51 But the good news is, and we can add this that 00:17:29.54\00:17:32.15 at this point in time, the Adventist church 00:17:32.18\00:17:35.45 is officially in your corner given you help, 00:17:35.48\00:17:39.32 given you aid, given you encouragement. 00:17:39.35\00:17:42.52 How do we qualify your relationship 00:17:42.56\00:17:45.26 now with the Adventist church 00:17:45.29\00:17:47.00 'cause I know you're an independent ministry? 00:17:47.03\00:17:48.63 Yes. 00:17:48.66\00:17:50.00 I mean just for the last three years, 00:17:50.03\00:17:54.30 I have some support 00:17:54.34\00:17:56.07 from our board members and our chairman. 00:17:56.10\00:17:58.47 Praise the Lord. 00:17:58.51\00:17:59.84 Who work for North American Division 00:17:59.87\00:18:01.44 and the General Conference, 00:18:01.48\00:18:03.45 in that way because they travel, 00:18:03.48\00:18:05.68 so they save me the time and expense. 00:18:05.71\00:18:11.02 So they can be your arms 00:18:11.05\00:18:12.92 and legs and ears as well as hands, 00:18:12.95\00:18:15.32 yeah, of the ministry without you having to do 00:18:15.36\00:18:17.79 but you do, do some traveling. 00:18:17.83\00:18:19.66 No, I have to, yes. Yes. Yes. 00:18:19.69\00:18:21.26 There's nobody to get around it. 00:18:21.30\00:18:22.63 No, Africa. 00:18:22.66\00:18:24.00 I go like at least three four times 00:18:24.03\00:18:26.30 I travel a year, sometimes more. 00:18:26.33\00:18:29.97 What are you seeking to accomplish 00:18:30.01\00:18:34.41 with these orphanages around the world. 00:18:34.44\00:18:37.08 What were you seeking to do 00:18:37.11\00:18:38.88 and I know you're pulling kids off of the street, 00:18:38.91\00:18:41.15 but in a big sense, what are you trying to do? 00:18:41.18\00:18:44.79 What I'm trying to do is, 00:18:44.82\00:18:46.45 the first thing when Jesus comes, 00:18:46.49\00:18:49.32 there will be two groups of people, 00:18:49.36\00:18:51.43 one on His right, one on His left. 00:18:51.46\00:18:53.36 Yes. 00:18:53.40\00:18:54.73 And what will He judge them with? 00:18:54.76\00:18:56.63 He doesn't tell them, did you go and preach? 00:18:56.67\00:18:59.13 He will tell them, I was hungry, I was thirsty, 00:18:59.17\00:19:02.50 I was naked, I was sick. 00:19:02.54\00:19:04.84 These are the areas we work with. 00:19:04.87\00:19:06.47 I see. 00:19:06.51\00:19:07.84 Yeah, these four areas to, 00:19:07.88\00:19:09.74 you know, fulfill the command of Jesus. 00:19:09.78\00:19:12.21 So those are the kinds of things that drive you 00:19:12.25\00:19:14.18 and all of this is being done 00:19:14.22\00:19:15.92 with a grand staff of one person 00:19:15.95\00:19:18.35 just still kind of doing this on, on. 00:19:18.39\00:19:19.72 Yes. 00:19:19.75\00:19:21.09 I can't say on your own, 00:19:21.12\00:19:22.46 because when the Lord calls you to do something, 00:19:22.49\00:19:23.83 you're not on your own. No. 00:19:23.86\00:19:25.19 But you don't have a big staff supporting 00:19:25.23\00:19:27.06 be surprise what you need to do. 00:19:27.10\00:19:29.43 Yes. 00:19:29.46\00:19:30.80 I have people that I work with in the different countries. 00:19:30.83\00:19:33.50 They are mostly missionaries, who live there give, you know, 00:19:33.54\00:19:37.17 they give their life, 00:19:37.21\00:19:39.04 so I need people that I can trust. 00:19:39.07\00:19:42.21 Praise the Lord. 00:19:42.24\00:19:43.58 And that kind of, that's what this is one of our strengths. 00:19:43.61\00:19:46.45 It's the right partnership, the right people to work with. 00:19:46.48\00:19:49.28 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:19:49.32\00:19:51.39 God had sent you some, some good people 00:19:51.42\00:19:53.19 sounds like down through the years. 00:19:53.22\00:19:54.56 Amazing. 00:19:54.59\00:19:55.92 Yeah. Yeah! 00:19:55.96\00:19:57.29 Trust the people because, you know, 00:19:57.33\00:19:58.66 you could end up losing your money. 00:19:58.69\00:20:01.40 But you have to be careful who you work with. 00:20:01.43\00:20:03.40 Yes. Yes, very much so. Yes. 00:20:03.43\00:20:05.57 I want to get into the actual work 00:20:05.60\00:20:08.20 that you are doing there and we want to go 00:20:08.24\00:20:10.64 to, to some of our pictures and we've got some videos too. 00:20:10.67\00:20:14.34 Before we get too far down into this 00:20:14.38\00:20:16.31 because it's hard to conceptualize 00:20:16.34\00:20:19.35 the scope of what Norma is trying to do 00:20:19.38\00:20:21.85 without seeing some representations of it. 00:20:21.88\00:20:26.59 So first of all what's, what's up first. 00:20:26.62\00:20:28.39 First is the school in Haiti. 00:20:28.42\00:20:30.93 We built last year a school 00:20:30.96\00:20:32.39 for elementary school for children. 00:20:32.43\00:20:35.16 And that these children were on the streets literally, 00:20:35.20\00:20:39.10 I had sent 75 boxes of clothing and shoes and school supplies 00:20:39.13\00:20:44.11 and they arrived when I was there. 00:20:44.14\00:20:46.91 And the school had just finished, 00:20:46.94\00:20:49.24 was completed. 00:20:49.28\00:20:50.61 So I wanted these kids, 00:20:50.65\00:20:52.08 and I would take them from the streets, 00:20:52.11\00:20:53.45 I'll tell them, "You want to go to school?" 00:20:53.48\00:20:54.88 Yes. Yes. 00:20:54.92\00:20:56.25 So I take them, wash them, 00:20:56.28\00:20:57.79 put shoes on them clothes and take them to school. 00:20:57.82\00:20:59.35 Praise the Lord. 00:20:59.39\00:21:00.72 Do you find, Norma, most over most of the world 00:21:00.76\00:21:02.82 young people want to go to school, 00:21:02.86\00:21:04.19 they want that education. 00:21:04.23\00:21:05.99 You know, when it comes to young people, 00:21:06.03\00:21:11.43 it is they want to study 00:21:11.47\00:21:12.83 but they don't want to start again, 00:21:12.87\00:21:14.34 you know, from A.B.C. 00:21:14.37\00:21:15.70 Yes. 00:21:15.74\00:21:17.07 So that's why we are concentrating now 00:21:17.11\00:21:19.14 on building vocational training schools for them. 00:21:19.17\00:21:22.68 We have elementary schools, 00:21:22.71\00:21:24.05 we have built two three for little children 00:21:24.08\00:21:27.78 and, you know, they'll grow up to high school with us, 00:21:27.82\00:21:31.09 but that boys on the streets need care. 00:21:31.12\00:21:35.49 And that's what we are doing now. 00:21:35.52\00:21:37.09 We have, this year we are building 00:21:37.13\00:21:39.73 free vocational training schools. 00:21:39.76\00:21:41.73 One was inaugurated yesterday in Indonesia. 00:21:41.76\00:21:44.13 Oh, praise the Lord. 00:21:44.17\00:21:45.50 One in Haiti and one in Argentina. 00:21:45.53\00:21:47.44 Excellent, excellent. 00:21:47.47\00:21:48.80 So you are expanding even as we speak. 00:21:48.84\00:21:51.91 Yes. You're growing. 00:21:51.94\00:21:53.27 Let's go to some of the pictures 00:21:53.31\00:21:54.64 I could, I want to, I want to get the folk to see a... 00:21:54.68\00:21:56.81 The video made. Yeah. 00:21:56.85\00:21:58.18 Oh, the video first. 00:21:58.21\00:21:59.55 Well, we got this one up, let's go with this. 00:21:59.58\00:22:01.08 Now who is this? This is, her name is Cynthia. 00:22:01.12\00:22:03.75 Cynthia. 00:22:03.79\00:22:05.12 And I found her in March, 00:22:05.15\00:22:06.65 when I went, when I was in Ethiopia-- 00:22:06.69\00:22:08.62 when I was in Haiti. 00:22:08.66\00:22:10.33 Yes. 00:22:10.36\00:22:11.69 And there I went to an orphanage 00:22:11.73\00:22:13.33 that we support, 00:22:13.36\00:22:14.73 and the guy who built it is the guy in the picture. 00:22:14.76\00:22:17.77 He's an engineer from New York. 00:22:17.80\00:22:20.74 He built a school 00:22:20.77\00:22:22.10 and an orphanage with his own money. 00:22:22.14\00:22:23.47 Wow. 00:22:23.51\00:22:24.84 So when I was there, 00:22:24.87\00:22:26.21 I saw this little girl by herself 00:22:26.24\00:22:28.71 sitting in the garden. 00:22:28.74\00:22:30.31 I said, "Who is she?" 00:22:30.35\00:22:31.68 He told me, "I don't know her. 00:22:31.71\00:22:34.22 I don't know this girl." 00:22:34.25\00:22:35.62 So we had to ask the mother "Who is she?" 00:22:35.65\00:22:38.55 And she said, "Her mother was going to sell her 00:22:38.59\00:22:42.02 as a slave girl at age three." 00:22:42.06\00:22:44.46 Wow. 00:22:44.49\00:22:45.83 And eventually she decided to abandon her. 00:22:45.86\00:22:47.63 She left her in the market 00:22:47.66\00:22:49.83 and the woman who takes care of the orphanage. 00:22:49.86\00:22:53.20 She took her to the home and she said, 00:22:53.23\00:22:56.20 "Next week, I'll take her back to find her mother." 00:22:56.24\00:22:58.57 I said, "You don't take it anywhere. 00:22:58.61\00:23:00.88 You keep her, we are responsible for her." 00:23:00.91\00:23:03.21 So that's what they call trafficking. 00:23:03.24\00:23:05.18 Yes, yes, yes. 00:23:05.21\00:23:06.55 People take little kids and amazing-- 00:23:06.58\00:23:09.35 And sell them into all kinds of things. 00:23:09.38\00:23:11.05 So I guess that's one of the things 00:23:11.09\00:23:12.42 that you're heading off is this, 00:23:12.45\00:23:13.79 this trafficking of children in some of these countries. 00:23:13.82\00:23:16.96 And some of the countries you've mentioned 00:23:16.99\00:23:19.06 have a high incidents of that. 00:23:19.09\00:23:21.30 Ethiopia is big because when I was in Ethiopia, 00:23:21.33\00:23:25.30 I saved three girls of trafficking 00:23:25.33\00:23:27.97 but two of them. 00:23:28.00\00:23:29.50 One man was running with two girls. 00:23:29.54\00:23:31.61 So I told him, I stopped him. I'm not afraid of him. 00:23:31.64\00:23:34.78 Who are these girls? 00:23:34.81\00:23:36.51 I was afraid, he said, "Are they your daughters?" 00:23:36.54\00:23:39.55 He said, "No." Okay, are they your relatives? 00:23:39.58\00:23:42.02 "No." So why are you taking them? 00:23:42.05\00:23:44.62 He said, "They have nobody." 00:23:44.65\00:23:46.42 I said, "If they have nobody, you take them?" 00:23:46.45\00:23:47.96 He said, "Yeah, if you want them, you can have them." 00:23:47.99\00:23:49.89 I said, "Yeah, I want them." 00:23:49.92\00:23:51.69 So I took them to the orphanage, 00:23:51.73\00:23:53.70 it's that easy to take girls and sell them. 00:23:53.73\00:23:57.27 No government, nobody cares. Yes. Yes. 00:23:57.30\00:23:59.60 I don't think he expect you to take him up on that offer. 00:23:59.63\00:24:03.17 He just lost part of his, his meal ticket. 00:24:03.20\00:24:06.14 So is that where you get most of your girls 00:24:06.17\00:24:09.81 or your boys and girls just take them off the street. 00:24:09.84\00:24:12.25 Are they that easy to spot? 00:24:12.28\00:24:14.35 Not all of them are like that. Yes. 00:24:14.38\00:24:15.82 Some of them are, we hear about them, 00:24:15.85\00:24:17.99 some of them just in the community, 00:24:18.02\00:24:19.99 where we work. 00:24:20.02\00:24:21.36 We just go and I see kids without parents 00:24:21.39\00:24:23.76 or even with a mother 00:24:23.79\00:24:25.69 or with a father but not a mother. 00:24:25.73\00:24:28.13 So they're not all orphans they're poor. 00:24:28.16\00:24:31.70 So we have to feed them and provide for them, 00:24:31.73\00:24:35.24 but the biggest thing is 00:24:35.27\00:24:37.07 if we are not concerned about their spirituality 00:24:37.11\00:24:41.34 and their eternity, we are losing. 00:24:41.38\00:24:44.58 It's not the food. 00:24:44.61\00:24:46.75 It's not just water and clothing. 00:24:46.78\00:24:49.98 We teach them about God. Yes. 00:24:50.02\00:24:52.05 We bring them to know Jesus. Yes. 00:24:52.09\00:24:54.46 Walk me through, Norma, if you will 00:24:54.49\00:24:56.36 how you view religion, 00:24:56.39\00:24:58.69 the love of Christ into the daily routine 00:24:58.73\00:25:01.03 because you've got school, 00:25:01.06\00:25:02.40 you've got teaching that has to go on, 00:25:02.43\00:25:03.77 and those kinds of things. 00:25:03.80\00:25:05.87 How do you view Jesus into that whole mix? 00:25:05.90\00:25:09.30 Yeah, from the first, you know, 00:25:09.34\00:25:11.17 at first we start like in a school, 00:25:11.21\00:25:13.61 the first thing we teach is for them to sing and pray. 00:25:13.64\00:25:17.25 The first thing in the morning, even, while... 00:25:17.28\00:25:21.38 Yeah, sing and pray. 00:25:21.42\00:25:22.75 While they are doing, 00:25:22.78\00:25:24.19 there is raising of flag after there is a flag. 00:25:24.22\00:25:27.29 Then they sing and pray 00:25:27.32\00:25:29.19 and then they have Bible class too. 00:25:29.22\00:25:32.26 And so it's amazing work. Yeah. Yeah. 00:25:32.29\00:25:35.36 It is 00:25:35.40\00:25:36.73 and I think it prioritizes thing so beautifully. 00:25:36.77\00:25:38.97 Before we get anything moving, let's sing and pray, 00:25:39.00\00:25:42.40 and get the day started off, started off correctly. 00:25:42.44\00:25:44.81 So it's easy, and kids you know are the most fertile soil. 00:25:44.84\00:25:49.28 Yes. They are receptive. 00:25:49.31\00:25:50.78 They are willing to learn, so this is what-- 00:25:50.81\00:25:53.28 If you want to, 00:25:53.31\00:25:54.72 in fact the lives of the future of any country, 00:25:54.75\00:25:58.29 you start with the children. 00:25:58.32\00:25:59.65 Yes. Yes. 00:25:59.69\00:26:01.02 And if you train them well, 00:26:01.06\00:26:02.39 then you can have better future. 00:26:02.42\00:26:04.09 Better future, beautiful, 00:26:04.13\00:26:05.46 beautifully said, beautifully said. 00:26:05.49\00:26:08.90 Let's look at some more stuff 'cause we got a bunch of them, 00:26:08.93\00:26:10.73 I want to get to before it gets away from us. 00:26:10.77\00:26:13.20 What do we have coming up next? 00:26:13.23\00:26:14.70 We have the video of Haiti, the school, if we can see it. 00:26:14.74\00:26:18.07 Okay, let's take a look. 00:26:18.11\00:26:19.67 Restore a Child is a humanitarian organization. 00:26:31.05\00:26:36.02 Our main focus in Haiti is education. 00:26:36.06\00:26:40.20 So we build the elementary school 00:26:40.23\00:26:43.06 which is growing every year by one class. 00:26:43.10\00:26:45.97 Now, next year we'll have grade five 00:26:46.00\00:26:48.47 and then grade six and so on till high school. 00:26:48.50\00:26:50.91 And, but our focus on orphans 00:26:56.14\00:26:58.68 because children who do not have parents 00:26:58.71\00:27:02.05 have any for somebody to care for them. 00:27:02.08\00:27:04.52 They cannot be on the streets, they need to be fed, 00:27:04.55\00:27:07.92 they need to be clothed, they need to go to school. 00:27:07.96\00:27:10.83 And that's what our role is here for 00:27:10.86\00:27:14.20 to take care of the children here in Haiti. 00:27:14.23\00:27:16.36 Jesus love the children. 00:27:21.34\00:27:23.91 Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, 00:27:23.94\00:27:26.71 and forbid them not." 00:27:26.74\00:27:28.64 And so Jesus opened His arms for the children. 00:27:28.68\00:27:31.55 He blessed them, and He loved them, 00:27:31.58\00:27:34.08 and you are not to do any less than Jesus did. 00:27:34.12\00:27:36.69 Those young people look so nice and bright in their uniforms. 00:28:19.63\00:28:24.27 And you have to provide those uniforms also, don't you? 00:28:24.30\00:28:27.27 Yes, for the most poor and the orphans we do. 00:28:27.30\00:28:31.84 Tell me what Do Fast is because our next roll is Do Fast. 00:28:31.87\00:28:36.04 What is that? 00:28:36.08\00:28:37.51 It's a new movement that I started, 00:28:37.55\00:28:40.82 and started called, "DO" 00:28:40.85\00:28:44.55 DO, stands for Defend Orphans. 00:28:44.59\00:28:48.86 It's taken from Isaiah 1:17 it says, 00:28:48.89\00:28:51.96 "Do good, seek justice, defend orphans." 00:28:51.99\00:28:56.87 So it's in the Bible and then in the Psalms 82 also. 00:28:56.90\00:29:00.60 So and then 00:29:00.64\00:29:02.10 because there are so many hungry children in the world, 00:29:02.14\00:29:06.88 6 million children die of hunger every year. 00:29:06.91\00:29:12.45 Wow. 00:29:12.48\00:29:13.82 So we combined the Do Fast, the do with the fast 00:29:13.85\00:29:17.39 according to Isaiah 58. 00:29:17.42\00:29:19.62 What does Isaiah 58 say? 00:29:19.65\00:29:23.06 "Is this the fast that I have chosen." 00:29:23.09\00:29:24.86 Yes, yes, yes. 00:29:24.89\00:29:26.23 Isn't it to deal or share your bread with the hungry? 00:29:26.26\00:29:29.73 Yes, yes. Very true. 00:29:29.76\00:29:31.10 And bring the poor to your house 00:29:31.13\00:29:32.97 and if you see a naked that you clothe him. 00:29:33.00\00:29:36.60 So this is what Do Fast is about. 00:29:36.64\00:29:39.94 It's what God wants you to do for orphans 00:29:39.97\00:29:43.95 and for a true fast. 00:29:43.98\00:29:45.98 It's not about fasting, you know, 00:29:46.01\00:29:48.12 because the beginning of Isaiah 58 it says, 00:29:48.15\00:29:51.65 "We pray, we pray, we do everything, 00:29:51.69\00:29:54.19 and you don't hear us." 00:29:54.22\00:29:55.92 He said, "This is not what I want, 00:29:55.96\00:29:58.26 take care of the hungry and the naked." 00:29:58.29\00:30:01.06 Yes, as you do I'll hear. Yes. 00:30:01.10\00:30:03.23 All right, this is what we do. Let's take a look at Do Fast. 00:30:03.26\00:30:06.13 Tonight, one in seven people will go to bed hungry. 00:30:13.38\00:30:17.78 Hunger kills more than AIDS, malaria 00:30:17.81\00:30:20.15 and tuberculosis combined. 00:30:20.18\00:30:22.55 One third of the world is starving to death right now. 00:30:22.58\00:30:25.99 Every 13 seconds, a child dies of malnutrition, 00:30:26.02\00:30:28.82 that's 6 million dead children a year. 00:30:28.86\00:30:31.73 But you can make a difference. 00:30:31.76\00:30:33.70 The second Saturday, in November, 00:30:33.73\00:30:35.60 be part of the 24-Hour Do Fast. 00:30:35.63\00:30:38.40 During the Do Fast, 00:30:38.43\00:30:39.77 people across the world would be reading Isaiah 58, 00:30:39.80\00:30:42.40 and praying for God's blessing. 00:30:42.44\00:30:44.47 God's promise is simple, "Ask and it'll be given to you, 00:30:44.51\00:30:48.04 seek and you will find, knock 00:30:48.08\00:30:49.68 and the door will be open to you." 00:30:49.71\00:30:52.38 Let's ask God to Restore a Child. 00:30:52.41\00:30:54.55 Visit restoreachild.org/dofast 00:30:54.58\00:30:57.85 and donate today. 00:30:57.89\00:31:00.06 So Do Fast then is a program that has been adopted 00:31:00.09\00:31:03.22 by at least in North American Division, 00:31:03.26\00:31:04.79 the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:31:04.83\00:31:06.16 Yes. 00:31:06.19\00:31:08.56 The education department. Yes. 00:31:08.60\00:31:10.30 The ministerial department and the youth department 00:31:10.33\00:31:13.60 now partner with us to promote this work 00:31:13.64\00:31:17.21 that is very important to God. 00:31:17.24\00:31:19.21 It's a biblical mandate to take care of orphans 00:31:19.24\00:31:21.88 and we are not doing it as a church. 00:31:21.91\00:31:25.71 I see, very, very good. 00:31:25.75\00:31:28.55 So your ministry is not out there 00:31:28.58\00:31:31.65 sort of winging by itself, you have the support, 00:31:31.69\00:31:33.76 the imprimatur of the Adventist church. 00:31:33.79\00:31:36.93 Well, they don't give me any money. 00:31:36.96\00:31:39.49 That support. 00:31:39.53\00:31:40.86 And that's why I say support, I put support in quotes. 00:31:40.90\00:31:44.13 You had their goodwill. Yes. 00:31:44.17\00:31:46.00 You don't have their cash just yet 00:31:46.03\00:31:47.37 but you do have their goodwill. 00:31:47.40\00:31:48.74 Yeah, and you can't take goodwill to the bank. 00:31:48.77\00:31:50.81 And then, yeah... And then the General Conference 00:31:50.84\00:31:53.07 just recently few months ago, after 16 years of me 00:31:53.11\00:31:58.08 fighting for kids for the orphans, 00:31:58.11\00:32:00.75 they have added orphans to one of their ministries. 00:32:00.78\00:32:04.59 And yeah, they have asked me 00:32:04.62\00:32:05.99 to be a member of that task force. 00:32:06.02\00:32:09.12 So we would make sure it's not a lip service 00:32:09.16\00:32:12.63 that we will take care of orphans. 00:32:12.66\00:32:14.86 Wow. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:32:14.90\00:32:17.20 So that puts you in good and rarified, 00:32:17.23\00:32:19.03 rarified company for your work all around the world 00:32:19.07\00:32:23.54 to have at least the encouragement 00:32:23.57\00:32:25.74 and the expertise that the church can provide 00:32:25.77\00:32:28.84 as standing beside you as you do this 00:32:28.88\00:32:30.55 because, you don't have a big staff, 00:32:30.58\00:32:32.01 it's all on you. 00:32:32.05\00:32:33.38 Do you, are you obliged or do you have to travel a lot, 00:32:33.42\00:32:36.52 you got orphanages in 15-16 countries? 00:32:36.55\00:32:39.45 Do you get a chance 00:32:39.49\00:32:40.82 to go around and make some visits 00:32:40.86\00:32:42.19 and see what's going on in the various countries? 00:32:42.22\00:32:43.73 I have to, yes. Yes, yes. Yeah, yeah. 00:32:43.76\00:32:46.70 But this is the only way because I love kids. 00:32:46.73\00:32:49.80 I want to see my kids. Yes. 00:32:49.83\00:32:52.07 I want to see what they're doing to them. 00:32:52.10\00:32:54.84 I want them to be treated like my own kids. 00:32:54.87\00:32:57.07 Oh, praise the Lord. 00:32:57.11\00:32:58.44 I love kids and orphans are gift to the heart of God, 00:32:58.47\00:33:02.24 He's the father of the fatherless. 00:33:02.28\00:33:04.48 And I take my calling very seriously. 00:33:04.51\00:33:08.05 Praise the Lord. Yeah. 00:33:08.08\00:33:09.42 So, I... Yeah, I do travel. Yeah. 00:33:09.45\00:33:11.02 And you've been doing this quite a little while. 00:33:11.05\00:33:12.72 16 years. 00:33:12.75\00:33:14.09 16 years, I just tell the young lady 00:33:14.12\00:33:16.59 you got sometimes. 00:33:16.62\00:33:19.33 I'm not young, I'm very old. 00:33:19.36\00:33:22.96 Okay, we got some more videos, 00:33:23.00\00:33:24.93 let's talk about what's coming up, 00:33:24.97\00:33:26.30 what else we have? 00:33:26.33\00:33:28.17 Then, you know, very important 00:33:28.20\00:33:33.31 is that sponsor, sponsorship for these kids. 00:33:33.34\00:33:39.21 And there was, there is actually Dr. Bruce Dyke. 00:33:39.25\00:33:45.62 He is the top U.S. economist 00:33:45.65\00:33:48.52 teachings at the University of San Francisco. 00:33:48.56\00:33:52.69 He did research for three years in six countries 00:33:52.73\00:33:56.43 with his three of his doctorate students. 00:33:56.46\00:33:59.90 And they came up with the research 00:33:59.93\00:34:01.80 that was published in 2013, and he said, it says, 00:34:01.84\00:34:08.28 "Do you want to change the world?" 00:34:08.31\00:34:10.85 The title of the research. Yes. 00:34:10.88\00:34:12.81 Sponsor a child and he said, 00:34:12.85\00:34:16.48 "Hope" is a fuzzy concept to economists 00:34:16.52\00:34:20.82 you know, everything is concrete. 00:34:20.86\00:34:23.29 Yes, yes, yes. Excellent, excellent. 00:39:28.06\00:39:29.66 Do you have any idea 00:39:29.70\00:39:32.40 because your enterprise is so far flung. 00:39:32.43\00:39:35.10 At this point in time how many young people you have graduated 00:39:35.14\00:39:39.51 who've gone through the system that you graduated? 00:39:39.54\00:39:43.01 We have maybe at least 200, 00:39:43.04\00:39:47.78 200 but from university 25 finished already. 00:39:47.82\00:39:52.19 Yes. 00:39:52.22\00:39:53.56 And that 40, are in university right now. 00:39:53.59\00:39:56.93 You know, our children are very small, 00:39:56.96\00:39:59.33 so it takes a long time for them to get to college. 00:39:59.36\00:40:01.96 Yeah, and you also get it, you got, 00:40:02.00\00:40:03.57 that's an investment of at least for a generation 00:40:03.60\00:40:06.33 or 20 years maybe, 00:40:06.37\00:40:07.70 because if you're picking up 00:40:07.74\00:40:09.07 three four five six year olds off the streets. 00:40:09.10\00:40:10.97 Be a long time before, you get them into, into school. 00:40:11.01\00:40:13.74 But I suspect you would agree that every year, 00:40:13.78\00:40:15.68 that you keep them is worth it 00:40:15.71\00:40:17.25 because that's one year less there on the streets 00:40:17.28\00:40:20.32 and being pray to some of the things that go on. 00:40:20.35\00:40:23.28 You know, on that when a child 00:40:23.32\00:40:24.65 just living on the street like that. 00:40:24.69\00:40:26.02 Yes, and being trained the right way 00:40:26.05\00:40:27.59 to be with, with character 00:40:27.62\00:40:30.43 and with values and to give back to their communities. 00:40:30.46\00:40:34.13 Very much so. That takes a lot, you know, 00:40:34.16\00:40:35.80 it takes a village to raise a child. 00:40:35.83\00:40:37.97 Yeah. Yeah. 00:40:38.00\00:40:39.33 Without pointing fingers 00:40:39.37\00:40:40.70 at any particular country, Norma, 00:40:40.74\00:40:42.07 at some of these countries I guess the idea 00:40:42.10\00:40:44.74 that young people are going to be dragged into the business 00:40:44.77\00:40:47.44 if they don't have any other people 00:40:47.48\00:40:49.31 or things to support them. 00:40:49.34\00:40:50.81 That's pretty much accepted treatment 00:40:50.85\00:40:53.05 isn't it, that young people who live on the street 00:40:53.08\00:40:57.09 are gonna get abused, 00:40:57.12\00:40:58.82 they're gonna get trafficked, they're gonna be used 00:40:58.85\00:41:01.09 unless someone puts their hand in and pulls them out 00:41:01.12\00:41:04.89 the end is not really too positive as a rule. 00:41:04.93\00:41:07.06 No. No. 00:41:07.10\00:41:08.43 Because there is no hope. Yeah. 00:41:08.46\00:41:10.07 There's no hope you know poverty creates 00:41:10.10\00:41:12.83 low self-esteem with children. 00:41:12.87\00:41:15.30 Low aspirations, they have no, nothing to live for. 00:41:15.34\00:41:18.67 But when you sponsor them, when you take care of them, 00:41:18.71\00:41:21.41 then they have dreams and they have worth, self-worth 00:41:21.44\00:41:27.08 and dignity and they do much better. 00:41:27.12\00:41:30.02 So it is, it is a must, 00:41:30.05\00:41:32.25 that we take care of children 00:41:32.29\00:41:35.82 poor and orphans. 00:41:35.86\00:41:37.19 And orphans, yes, yes very much so. 00:41:37.23\00:41:39.53 In the countries where you're working, 00:41:39.56\00:41:41.10 you're in 15 different countries. 00:41:41.13\00:41:42.83 Is there any official recognition by the government, 00:41:42.86\00:41:45.90 is there any aid by the government, 00:41:45.93\00:41:47.80 encouragement by the government, 00:41:47.84\00:41:49.40 does a government do anything to help you 00:41:49.44\00:41:51.54 or they kind of hindering you. 00:41:51.57\00:41:53.78 What's the general relationship with the government 00:41:53.81\00:41:56.48 to what you're doing in those countries? 00:41:56.51\00:41:58.21 You know, I don't believe in governments. 00:41:58.25\00:42:02.05 And I don't want their help, because of the restrictions. 00:42:02.08\00:42:08.02 I don't want them to tell me, don't teach them Christianity. 00:42:08.06\00:42:11.39 I see, I see. 00:42:11.43\00:42:12.76 Yes, and so we need to be self-sufficient, 00:42:12.79\00:42:16.93 self-supporting, 00:42:16.97\00:42:18.73 so that's why we depend on the donations of people 00:42:18.77\00:42:23.41 like your viewers. 00:42:23.44\00:42:25.47 These are the people who make us 00:42:25.51\00:42:27.51 continue to help more children, take them off the street, 00:42:27.54\00:42:32.31 give them a future and then you know. 00:42:32.35\00:42:36.12 You know, when I said, when I heard you say, 00:42:36.15\00:42:38.45 "I don't like government," 00:42:38.49\00:42:39.82 you scared me a little bit there. 00:42:39.85\00:42:41.19 But I understand what you're saying, 00:42:41.22\00:42:42.82 that with government assistance comes government control. 00:42:42.86\00:42:46.39 It's almost, almost impossible to get around 00:42:46.43\00:42:49.06 that if the government of country X gives you money, 00:42:49.10\00:42:52.80 that government's going to want to tell you 00:42:52.83\00:42:54.70 what to do with that money, 00:42:54.74\00:42:56.07 because it's my money I'm giving you, 00:42:56.10\00:42:57.44 and they probably want to tell you, 00:42:57.47\00:42:58.91 what to do with the rest of your money. 00:42:58.94\00:43:00.51 So if you can sustain yourself, 00:43:00.54\00:43:02.81 and not have to put your hand out to the government, 00:43:02.84\00:43:05.01 it gives you freedom, 00:43:05.05\00:43:07.02 one to teach the gospel to these young people. 00:43:07.05\00:43:09.88 And to do so in an unencumbered way, 00:43:09.92\00:43:12.59 way and obviously, it's working 00:43:12.62\00:43:14.09 because you're getting the results that you desire. 00:43:14.12\00:43:17.99 Yes. Yeah. Yeah. 00:43:18.03\00:43:19.36 How do you recruit people 00:43:19.39\00:43:20.73 to assist you in these various facilities 00:43:20.76\00:43:23.47 in the various countries? 00:43:23.50\00:43:25.53 You know, I go myself and scout the country. 00:43:25.57\00:43:32.17 You go and check 00:43:32.21\00:43:34.11 and then I have, we have a big board, 00:43:34.14\00:43:36.61 and very strong board and they travel, 00:43:36.64\00:43:39.81 so they recommend some certain people, 00:43:39.85\00:43:42.68 some areas where I can visit and see for myself, 00:43:42.72\00:43:45.79 the kids and the need. 00:43:45.82\00:43:47.22 And then we go from there. 00:43:47.26\00:43:49.42 Very, very good. Very good. 00:43:49.46\00:43:51.46 You have done so very, very much 00:43:51.49\00:43:54.00 now that flash telling me 00:43:54.03\00:43:55.36 before our time gets away from us. 00:43:55.40\00:43:56.80 We've got one more video of Indonesia I think. 00:43:56.83\00:43:59.50 Yes. Yeah. 00:43:59.53\00:44:00.87 And I want to ask you about, because Indonesia is, 00:44:00.90\00:44:02.87 if it is not the largest, 00:44:02.90\00:44:04.31 this is the second largest Muslim country in the world. 00:44:04.34\00:44:07.08 And yet you seem to be doing well. 00:44:07.11\00:44:08.51 So let's go to this video, 00:44:08.54\00:44:09.88 then we'll come and talk about Indonesia a little bit. 00:44:09.91\00:44:11.35 Okay. 00:44:11.38\00:44:13.28 There has been many calamities 00:44:13.31\00:44:14.85 that come to Indonesia from place to place 00:44:14.88\00:44:18.39 and there are so many orphans left behind 00:44:18.42\00:44:21.59 as the result of those calamities. 00:44:21.62\00:44:23.83 You may have heard about the tsunami in Aceh 00:44:23.86\00:44:27.30 or the earthquake in many places in Indonesia 00:44:27.33\00:44:30.13 or volcanic eruption and also many other things 00:44:30.17\00:44:34.54 which includes also the religious persecution. 00:44:34.57\00:44:37.57 As the result of those calamities, 00:44:37.61\00:44:40.51 we feel the need of having orphanages 00:44:40.54\00:44:43.58 to take care of those orphans. 00:44:43.61\00:44:45.81 For that reason we started with the orphanage in Medan. 00:44:45.85\00:44:50.69 After that we have the second orphanage 00:44:50.72\00:44:53.09 in Singkawang, another orphanage in Kupang, 00:44:53.12\00:44:57.16 another orphanage in Kawangkoan, 00:44:57.19\00:45:00.23 north Sulawesi, another orphanage in Jakarta 00:45:00.26\00:45:05.43 and also in Purwodadi. 00:45:05.47\00:45:07.97 And now I'm in the complex of the orphanage in Kawangkoan. 00:45:08.00\00:45:13.14 I'm happy to see so many children who are here 00:45:13.17\00:45:16.38 that has been taken care of by Yapi. 00:45:16.41\00:45:22.15 This is an organization that try to show our concern 00:45:22.18\00:45:26.29 to the people in Indonesia 00:45:26.32\00:45:29.16 and from the beginning of our work, 00:45:29.19\00:45:31.46 we have been working together with Restore a Child. 00:45:31.49\00:45:36.53 I really appreciate the activities 00:45:36.56\00:45:38.43 which has been led by Norma Nashed, 00:45:38.47\00:45:41.97 the president of Restore a Child 00:45:42.00\00:45:44.97 that always gives support or full support 00:45:45.01\00:45:47.98 for the operation of our orphanages in Indonesia. 00:45:48.01\00:45:52.91 And we thank Dr. Jonathan Kuntaraf for that, 00:45:58.02\00:46:01.22 that very informative video, and your work. 00:46:01.26\00:46:04.53 Indonesia, very large Muslim country, 00:46:04.56\00:46:06.80 you seem to be working there well, 00:46:06.83\00:46:08.66 no interference from the government. 00:46:08.70\00:46:11.03 No, because in Indonesia 00:46:11.07\00:46:13.07 although 90 percent of the people are Muslims, 00:46:13.10\00:46:17.81 yet, the government is secular. 00:46:17.84\00:46:23.31 They don't interfere. Okay, okay. 00:46:23.35\00:46:25.78 So that's why, I mean there is sometimes prejudice 00:46:25.81\00:46:29.72 in some remote areas and so on but not really obvious. 00:46:29.75\00:46:34.72 You know, like I went to Jakarta, 00:46:34.76\00:46:37.23 I hardly saw a church, every few, 00:46:37.26\00:46:41.36 you know blocks is a mosque, is a mosque, is a mosque. 00:46:41.40\00:46:44.83 Then I went to Medan 00:46:44.87\00:46:46.33 where we built an orphanage last year 00:46:46.37\00:46:48.84 and now we're building a vocational training school 00:46:48.87\00:46:53.44 and every block or two, 00:46:53.48\00:46:56.44 really not even a block is a church. 00:46:56.48\00:46:58.65 Is a church? Church, church. 00:46:58.68\00:47:00.88 That is amazing. 00:47:00.92\00:47:02.78 That's in Manado, Manado, it's mostly a Christian area. 00:47:02.82\00:47:07.79 You know it's interesting 'cause I've a good friend 00:47:07.82\00:47:09.96 who is from Iraq, and she is a doctor, 00:47:09.99\00:47:13.36 and she was saying that back in the days of Saddam Hussein, 00:47:13.40\00:47:17.83 he didn't really bother the Christians too much, 00:47:17.87\00:47:20.44 he was not pushing any kind of Islamic law. 00:47:20.47\00:47:25.84 If you wanted to serve the Lord and did not bother the state, 00:47:25.87\00:47:29.08 the state will not bother you. 00:47:29.11\00:47:30.65 So it is good that in some of these countries 00:47:30.68\00:47:32.91 where the government is not so religious conscious, 00:47:32.95\00:47:36.79 they will allow other groups to come and function 00:47:36.82\00:47:39.69 and benefit the country. 00:47:39.72\00:47:41.06 Yeah, freedom of religion. Yes, yes. 00:47:41.09\00:47:43.56 And we praise the Lord for that. 00:47:43.59\00:47:44.99 Yes. Yeah, Yeah. 00:47:45.03\00:47:46.36 We got a couple more pictures. 00:47:46.39\00:47:47.73 Let's take a look at those, 00:47:47.76\00:47:49.10 I don't want our time to slip away, 00:47:49.13\00:47:50.47 and then this is-- 00:47:50.50\00:47:52.53 CFC. CFC? 00:47:52.57\00:47:54.24 This is a Combined Federal Campaign. 00:47:54.27\00:47:58.14 It's a US Federal government, a list of charities 00:47:58.17\00:48:03.04 and we are a member of the list of charities. 00:48:03.08\00:48:06.55 So if any of your viewers work for the federal government 00:48:06.58\00:48:10.69 or know people who work for the federal government, 00:48:10.72\00:48:13.86 they can donate through the CFC to Restore a Child. 00:48:13.89\00:48:17.89 Our name is there but they have to donate 00:48:17.93\00:48:21.36 to our CFC ID number which is 97739. 00:48:21.40\00:48:27.17 97739. 00:48:27.20\00:48:29.80 Excellent. Yes. 00:48:29.84\00:48:31.17 So I'm happy 00:48:31.21\00:48:32.54 because this gives us some, an opportunity to grow. 00:48:32.57\00:48:36.01 There are 3.2 million employees of the federal government. 00:48:36.04\00:48:40.15 I see. More than China. 00:48:40.18\00:48:41.95 Wow. 00:48:41.98\00:48:45.25 Well, we're gonna give you some contact information 00:48:45.29\00:48:46.76 in just a little bit to help with that 00:48:46.79\00:48:48.89 in case you don't want to go with the government rule, 00:48:48.92\00:48:50.39 we gonna give you something 00:48:50.43\00:48:51.76 that is little bit more direct in just a bit. 00:48:51.79\00:48:53.29 But I think we got one or two more pictures. 00:48:53.33\00:48:56.03 Yes, this is the home we built last year 00:48:56.06\00:48:59.77 for 42 orphan girls in Manado. 00:48:59.80\00:49:03.71 And there you see is 64 young people. 00:49:03.74\00:49:08.01 We have some small ones too 00:49:08.04\00:49:10.61 but the girls are 42 orphan girls that we built, 00:49:10.65\00:49:14.38 they had no home. 00:49:14.42\00:49:16.22 We built their home 00:49:16.25\00:49:17.95 and then now we are building a vocational training school 00:49:17.99\00:49:21.89 for the boys and girls 00:49:21.92\00:49:23.89 who are not going to university. 00:49:23.93\00:49:26.03 So you realize that there may be some 00:49:26.06\00:49:27.70 who just will not ever make it to university. 00:49:27.73\00:49:30.27 They're gonna need some kind of, 00:49:30.30\00:49:31.63 something to support themselves to able to do 00:49:31.67\00:49:33.80 and you are working on that also, which is great. 00:49:33.84\00:49:35.17 Yes.
