Yes, we did. 00:07:58.47\00:08:00.01 Yeah, we did. 00:08:00.04\00:08:01.68 And I lost him almost six years ago. 00:08:01.71\00:08:05.21 He was only 49 years old, sudden death 00:08:05.25\00:08:08.28 and the Lord allowed that to happen and it was a journey. 00:08:08.32\00:08:13.22 I also lost my brother a little after that 00:08:13.25\00:08:15.69 and then, my mother and two years ago, my father. 00:08:15.72\00:08:18.59 So had a lot of losses in my life. 00:08:18.63\00:08:22.26 The Lord has been faithful. 00:08:22.30\00:08:23.77 But then, I have some gains, too. 00:08:23.80\00:08:25.33 Yes. 00:08:25.37\00:08:26.70 Alright, let's find out about the gains. 00:08:26.74\00:08:28.27 Let's meet that gain here. 00:08:28.30\00:08:29.94 My husband, Ron. 00:08:29.97\00:08:31.31 Yes. 00:08:31.34\00:08:32.67 And, brother, Ron's been on "Dare to Dream" as well 00:08:32.71\00:08:34.81 'cause I interviewed, 00:08:34.84\00:08:36.18 I have actually interviewed both of you. 00:08:36.21\00:08:37.55 Yes. On "Dare to Dream." 00:08:37.58\00:08:38.91 But your testimony, brother, Ron, 00:08:38.95\00:08:41.02 has been phenomenal as well. 00:08:41.05\00:08:44.02 Give us little bit about you, about your background. 00:08:44.05\00:08:46.99 Well, it's been a quite a wonderful blessing 00:08:47.02\00:08:50.03 that the Lord has let me out of a life in Hollywood, acting, 00:08:50.06\00:08:56.30 being very involved in the new age for many years, 00:08:56.33\00:09:00.10 and out of Eastern mistresses or men. 00:09:00.14\00:09:02.87 Basically, I suppose 00:09:02.90\00:09:04.24 what the Bible would call "witchcraft." 00:09:04.27\00:09:06.61 So I was in that for many, many years, 00:09:06.64\00:09:09.61 and, you know, there are a lot of it, 00:09:09.64\00:09:12.28 I was so wrapped up in it. 00:09:12.31\00:09:15.08 Sun worship, moon worship, lots of things like that, 00:09:15.12\00:09:18.35 you know, it really had me gripped for a while. 00:09:18.39\00:09:21.96 Now you look like and sound like an intelligent person. 00:09:21.99\00:09:25.19 So how does intelligent people 00:09:25.23\00:09:27.30 get caught up in something like that? 00:09:27.33\00:09:29.73 When you talk about all this different types of worship, 00:09:29.76\00:09:32.17 did you have no kind of upbringing in Christianity 00:09:32.20\00:09:35.70 as a young person? 00:09:35.74\00:09:37.11 Did you have that? Did you leave it? 00:09:37.14\00:09:39.24 Did something-- 00:09:39.27\00:09:40.61 Were you looking for something, searching for something? 00:09:40.64\00:09:43.28 How did you get caught up for someone like me 00:09:43.31\00:09:46.25 and probably some of us? 00:09:46.28\00:09:47.78 That just sounds so like, "What did he just say?" 00:09:47.82\00:09:50.79 You know, how do you get caught up 00:09:50.82\00:09:52.85 in that kind of a journey? 00:09:52.89\00:09:55.52 Well, I would say, it could be easy 00:09:55.56\00:09:57.29 when you don't have a really good grasp of truth 00:09:57.33\00:10:00.30 because a enemy knows how to mix truth and error. 00:10:00.33\00:10:03.93 And we have to be aware that he's been studying humanity 00:10:03.97\00:10:06.43 for over 6,000 years. 00:10:06.47\00:10:08.34 So why I might be somewhat intelligent, 00:10:08.37\00:10:11.74 I'm no matter for the enemy without Christ. 00:10:11.77\00:10:14.88 I grew up going to, my family and I, 00:10:14.91\00:10:17.08 St. Mary's Catholic Church, and that's what I was used to, 00:10:17.11\00:10:20.32 and then as I went out to Hollywood, 00:10:20.35\00:10:22.78 I didn't have any particular affiliation for a while. 00:10:22.82\00:10:26.32 And as I was out there for few weeks, 00:10:26.35\00:10:28.42 I realized that well, you know, something is missing. 00:10:28.46\00:10:30.56 I thought, "Well, you know, 00:10:30.59\00:10:31.93 I need to go to start going to church again." 00:10:31.96\00:10:33.29 And I found church and I went to church and that one time, 00:10:33.33\00:10:36.26 it was something familiar and it felt good 00:10:36.30\00:10:38.77 and thought, "Yes, this is it," it felt good. 00:10:38.80\00:10:41.17 But then, I went back a second time 00:10:41.20\00:10:43.47 and I had this feeling of you know, something is missing. 00:10:43.51\00:10:47.91 So I didn't go to that church anymore. 00:10:47.94\00:10:50.18 A friend of mine started introducing me to this magazine 00:10:50.21\00:10:55.55 dealing with New Age faith. 00:10:55.58\00:10:58.29 So I started reading that, studying that, 00:10:58.32\00:11:01.49 having prayers or mediations, those types of things at home. 00:11:01.52\00:11:05.03 Eventually, that led to going to a church. 00:11:05.06\00:11:07.50 So I started going to this church, 00:11:07.53\00:11:09.73 hit the gong there, and incense, 00:11:09.76\00:11:12.33 and a lot of those types of things. 00:11:12.37\00:11:16.17 So I was very involved in that martial arts, all that. 00:11:16.20\00:11:20.68 And then one day, the main speaker was not there 00:11:20.71\00:11:23.51 because he was a world traveler, 00:11:23.55\00:11:25.35 but the speaker that they had up for that Sunday, 00:11:25.38\00:11:28.58 he sounded like a carbon copy of the main speaker, 00:11:28.62\00:11:32.32 that main Reverend that was always there. 00:11:32.35\00:11:35.29 And I hate the sound, "New Age,"' 00:11:35.32\00:11:36.66 but for that moment I, sort of, I was lifted up beyond myself, 00:11:36.69\00:11:40.70 out of myself that sounds very mysticism, 00:11:40.73\00:11:44.23 and it seemed so for the very first time, 00:11:44.27\00:11:47.37 I was able to look at everything very objectively. 00:11:47.40\00:11:50.61 And I started thinking, "What am I doing here?" 00:11:50.64\00:11:53.17 And so anyway, I stopped going to that church, 00:11:53.21\00:11:55.21 but I kept reading the readings for a while longer. 00:11:55.24\00:11:58.71 But it would take some pain in my life, too. 00:11:58.75\00:12:03.99 So it began to ask me, well, what is life all about? 00:12:04.02\00:12:08.12 I could see that, that was not truth, 00:12:08.16\00:12:11.89 and I began to question, what was life all about? 00:12:11.93\00:12:15.33 I had a friend who is an actor and he introduced me this 00:12:15.36\00:12:20.00 Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:12:20.04\00:12:21.87 and gotten up, led step by step. 00:12:21.90\00:12:24.31 So you were looking for truth? I was. 00:12:24.34\00:12:26.88 You just had no idea what it was 00:12:26.91\00:12:28.48 so whatever somebody introduced to you, 00:12:28.51\00:12:30.95 you said I'll try it, you go to it. 00:12:30.98\00:12:33.31 But it's very encouraging because what you telling us is 00:12:33.35\00:12:36.79 since God created us, we each and every one of us 00:12:36.82\00:12:40.12 have a humming device and it says, we are strangers, 00:12:40.16\00:12:43.39 just so our journeys here 00:12:43.43\00:12:45.06 and we really never satisfied till we meet Jesus, 00:12:45.09\00:12:48.63 and eventually, our home with him forever. 00:12:48.66\00:12:51.07 So anyone who is looking for truth, 00:12:51.10\00:12:53.54 no matter where you are today, if you're looking for truth, 00:12:53.57\00:12:56.97 you're searching for truth. 00:12:57.01\00:12:58.34 Bible says, "If you search from me with all your heart, 00:12:58.37\00:13:00.48 basically, Jesus is always there," 00:13:00.51\00:13:02.81 but we will find him. 00:13:02.84\00:13:04.18 So you're encouraging us today and our viewers, 00:13:04.21\00:13:06.85 no matter where they are in the walk, 00:13:06.88\00:13:08.95 maybe they are dissatisfied with this in life, 00:13:08.98\00:13:11.32 or whatever they are doing, 00:13:11.35\00:13:12.75 they have all these things I say, "I'm just confused, 00:13:12.79\00:13:15.79 I don't know why I'm here." 00:13:15.82\00:13:17.16 There is purpose for everyone's life, 00:13:17.19\00:13:18.79 but if you purpose in your heart, 00:13:18.83\00:13:20.50 I want to find truth, 00:13:20.53\00:13:21.93 then God will lead you into all truth. 00:13:21.96\00:13:24.00 Amen. 00:13:24.03\00:13:25.37 So you had a person who introduced you 00:13:25.40\00:13:27.84 to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:13:27.87\00:13:29.30 When you went for the first time, did you think, 00:13:29.34\00:13:31.71 "Here I am again at something different," 00:13:31.74\00:13:34.61 or did you catch on to that quickly and say, "You know, 00:13:34.64\00:13:37.51 I think this is where the Lord wants me." 00:13:37.55\00:13:39.51 Well, I went for a short while, 00:13:39.55\00:13:41.52 but I was still reading some of those same old books. 00:13:41.55\00:13:44.42 And I read one book 00:13:44.45\00:13:46.19 that I don't even want to mention the title of that book 00:13:46.22\00:13:48.42 and that turned me away. 00:13:48.46\00:13:49.79 So I didn't believe in-- 00:13:49.82\00:13:51.16 I was at a point that I wasn't sure 00:13:51.19\00:13:53.13 that I believed in God anymore. 00:13:53.16\00:13:55.00 At the very least I know 00:13:55.03\00:13:56.73 I didn't believe in the God of Israel. 00:13:56.77\00:13:58.67 And so that went on for few years, 00:13:58.70\00:14:01.10 and then it came to that point, that very painful situation 00:14:01.14\00:14:04.01 that I started asking, "What is life all about?" 00:14:04.04\00:14:07.44 And I started going through and reading those books again, 00:14:07.48\00:14:09.78 and trying to find an answer, 00:14:09.81\00:14:11.35 and till it came to one Friday evening, 00:14:11.38\00:14:13.95 I called my friend who had introduced me years ago, 00:14:13.98\00:14:17.02 and I asked him so many questions, 00:14:17.05\00:14:18.89 I can't even remember them all. 00:14:18.92\00:14:21.02 And I went to bed that night 00:14:21.06\00:14:22.72 feeling somewhat sense of relief. 00:14:22.76\00:14:26.39 I woke up that Saturday morning which we would call Sabbath 00:14:26.43\00:14:29.90 and I called him and I said, 00:14:29.93\00:14:33.00 "I think I want to be baptized." 00:14:33.03\00:14:35.07 Wow. 00:14:35.10\00:14:36.44 "And I want to go to church." Okay. 00:14:36.47\00:14:37.81 And he said, "Hurry, get dressed, 00:14:37.84\00:14:39.17 I'm coming to pick you up." 00:14:39.21\00:14:40.78 And here we are. 00:14:40.81\00:14:43.48 And look at God, and look at His patience, 00:14:43.51\00:14:45.98 and look at His persistence, you know, 00:14:46.01\00:14:49.12 even when we turn away from him, 00:14:49.15\00:14:52.19 He's still works on just moving us, 00:14:52.22\00:14:54.82 just bringing us back to him. 00:14:54.86\00:14:56.22 Amen. 00:14:56.26\00:14:57.59 And He gave you that peace the night before 00:14:57.63\00:14:59.49 when you feel as though, 00:14:59.53\00:15:01.43 I guess you had found something now 00:15:01.46\00:15:03.37 that you could really settle into 00:15:03.40\00:15:05.73 and boom, you wanted to get baptized. 00:15:05.77\00:15:07.77 Yes. How long has that been? 00:15:07.80\00:15:10.51 It's been about 15 years now. 00:15:10.54\00:15:14.18 Wow. Wonderful. Amen. 00:15:14.21\00:15:16.24 Now you're happy you made that decision? 00:15:16.28\00:15:18.51 Yes. All right. 00:15:18.55\00:15:20.08 Best decision I've ever made. 00:15:20.12\00:15:21.45 Okay. 00:15:21.48\00:15:22.82 God is good. Amen. Amen. 00:15:22.85\00:15:24.99 Did you find that there was an overlap between the mysticism 00:15:25.02\00:15:31.63 and the martial arts and the music, 00:15:31.66\00:15:35.60 and the Hollywood stuff, all the media things, you know, 00:15:35.63\00:15:38.43 it's as though Satan just piles layer upon layer. 00:15:38.47\00:15:42.90 And do you feel that there was an overlap there for you? 00:15:42.94\00:15:46.44 I do. 00:15:46.47\00:15:47.81 I think there was a lot of focus on self. 00:15:47.84\00:15:49.84 Yes. 00:15:49.88\00:15:51.21 This is about me. 00:15:51.25\00:15:53.08 Yeah, I'm the product whether it was my time in Hollywood, 00:15:53.11\00:15:56.28 I'm the product. 00:15:56.32\00:15:57.95 The mysticism, it's so much about me, me, me. 00:15:57.99\00:16:02.26 I'm so thankful to be in, to find God's truth 00:16:02.29\00:16:05.86 because I can look back now 00:16:05.89\00:16:07.63 and to see getting the understanding of prophecy. 00:16:07.66\00:16:10.67 And I think wait a minute, there was never any of this 00:16:10.70\00:16:14.24 that I could look at, they are particularly teaching 00:16:14.27\00:16:16.81 and look at a history book, 00:16:16.84\00:16:18.41 put them side by side 00:16:18.44\00:16:20.24 and you could see without a doubt, this is truth. 00:16:20.28\00:16:23.61 Truth will withstand scrutiny. 00:16:26.98\00:16:29.35 Yes. Right? 00:16:29.38\00:16:31.25 Truth will withstand scrutiny. Absolutely. 00:16:31.29\00:16:33.42 So you went from there into getting involved in 00:16:33.46\00:16:38.16 after you became an Adventist, the physical aspects of health 00:16:38.19\00:16:41.86 which will tie into you to Magna. 00:16:41.90\00:16:44.27 What did you do with the physical aspects of health? 00:16:44.30\00:16:47.04 I've always been involved in health 00:16:47.07\00:16:48.60 but being involved in it from the Adventist church, 00:16:48.64\00:16:52.94 at the same point I became involved in health ministry 00:16:52.97\00:16:55.68 at my church there in California, Los Angeles. 00:16:55.71\00:16:58.51 And then, a friend asked me, "Have you ever thought about 00:16:58.55\00:17:01.75 medical missionary work?" 00:17:01.78\00:17:03.49 I told, "Not really." 00:17:03.52\00:17:04.85 So I went off to some place here in Seale, Alabama, 00:17:04.89\00:17:07.49 and been studying and working there for over 10 years and-- 00:17:07.52\00:17:12.53 Oh, wow. 00:17:12.56\00:17:13.90 And so had a lot of experience, 00:17:13.93\00:17:16.03 a lot of wonderful opportunities 00:17:16.06\00:17:18.50 to work with so many people who have been sick 00:17:18.53\00:17:21.54 and who are sick 00:17:21.57\00:17:23.30 and it's amazing to see God's healing methods. 00:17:23.34\00:17:26.34 And it's really true that He uses the foolish things 00:17:26.37\00:17:30.38 to confound the wise. 00:17:30.41\00:17:31.98 And I've seen that time and time again, simple things. 00:17:32.01\00:17:35.52 Simple remedies, right. 00:17:35.55\00:17:37.02 So you got very involved 00:17:37.05\00:17:39.12 in the physical aspects of health 00:17:39.15\00:17:41.62 while your wife here has been involved 00:17:41.66\00:17:45.86 in the mental aspects of health. 00:17:45.89\00:17:48.76 Let's hear about how you two met. 00:17:48.80\00:17:51.13 So let's go to Dr. Magna here, and how did you meet? 00:17:51.17\00:17:54.97 Because it seems like such a great complimentary 00:17:55.00\00:17:57.81 type of relationship. 00:17:57.84\00:17:59.17 How did you meet? 00:17:59.21\00:18:00.54 My first husband and I used to visit 00:18:00.58\00:18:02.14 where he was at Uchee Pines. 00:18:02.18\00:18:03.95 We'd visit there and then, my parents moved down 00:18:03.98\00:18:06.55 close to there, my mother was sickly, 00:18:06.58\00:18:08.68 they're both deceased now but and we would visit 00:18:08.72\00:18:11.55 and guess who we would often have lunch with 00:18:11.59\00:18:13.76 at the cafeteria. 00:18:13.79\00:18:15.62 Ron Porterfield. Yeah. 00:18:15.66\00:18:17.36 And we would talk and we would laugh, 00:18:17.39\00:18:19.19 we'd go walking and I actually tried to matchmake him. 00:18:19.23\00:18:22.33 When I first met him, 00:18:22.36\00:18:23.70 we've invited him over up to Atlanta for weekend 00:18:23.73\00:18:27.10 'cause there was a woman I wanted to matchmake him with 00:18:27.14\00:18:29.34 and the Lord had better plan, so that didn't work out. 00:18:29.37\00:18:32.14 And so we continued our friendship 00:18:32.17\00:18:34.28 and then, after my husband passed, 00:18:34.31\00:18:36.14 he was very helpful with my father 00:18:36.18\00:18:37.85 who was on sickly. 00:18:37.88\00:18:39.21 And as a result of that, 00:18:39.25\00:18:41.05 you know, my eyes started to open, 00:18:41.08\00:18:42.58 I said hm-mm. 00:18:42.62\00:18:44.19 You know, like very sweet and we got to know each other 00:18:44.22\00:18:48.39 and the rest is history, here we are. 00:18:48.42\00:18:50.93 And how long have you been married? 00:18:50.96\00:18:52.49 Oh, a little over a year and a half. 00:18:52.53\00:18:54.06 Yes. Oh, they're kind of newlywed. 00:18:54.10\00:18:55.80 Yes, newlywed. 00:18:55.83\00:18:57.17 Almost? Almost a year and a half. 00:18:57.20\00:18:58.53 Yes. That's great. 00:18:58.57\00:18:59.90 So how has the Lord impressed you 00:18:59.93\00:19:01.80 to put your ministries together, 00:19:01.84\00:19:04.54 the mental health and the physical health? 00:19:04.57\00:19:06.94 Well, I think the mind and body is closely related, 00:19:06.98\00:19:10.45 I mean, we hear that there's a quote that says, 00:19:10.48\00:19:12.68 "The mind and body are closely related. 00:19:12.71\00:19:14.32 One is affected, the other sympathizes." 00:19:14.35\00:19:16.38 And so I see that as he has been trained 00:19:16.42\00:19:19.89 with the natural remedies 00:19:19.92\00:19:21.32 and understanding a little bit about disease. 00:19:21.36\00:19:23.69 And I've been trained in the, with working with the mind, 00:19:23.73\00:19:26.33 I see how the Lord's just bringing that together 00:19:26.36\00:19:28.76 into one big whole because we are whole people, right? 00:19:28.80\00:19:32.67 We can't separate the mind and body, the world does that, 00:19:32.70\00:19:35.27 but in reality, 00:19:35.30\00:19:36.64 we're all one person that has these different parts. 00:19:36.67\00:19:39.87 And so I see the Lord bringing in His knowledge and skill 00:19:39.91\00:19:43.01 with my knowledge and skill 00:19:43.04\00:19:44.38 to be able to address the whole person. 00:19:44.41\00:19:45.75 Oh, nice. 00:19:45.78\00:19:47.12 And so we're excited, we're just starting out, 00:19:47.15\00:19:48.62 but I see the Lord doing some good things 00:19:48.65\00:19:50.82 as time comes by His grace and power and I'm excited. 00:19:50.85\00:19:53.66 That's great. 00:19:53.69\00:19:55.02 So how are you structuring, like, 00:19:55.06\00:19:56.83 how are you gonna be lecturing, 00:19:56.86\00:19:59.59 what are you planning to do with it? 00:19:59.63\00:20:01.73 Yes, so when I was lecturing, training, 00:20:01.76\00:20:04.37 also and the Lord is putting this in our mind 00:20:04.40\00:20:07.34 that perhaps a health retreat 00:20:07.37\00:20:08.84 somewhere along the, down the line. 00:20:08.87\00:20:11.97 Hopefully, not too far down the line, 00:20:12.01\00:20:13.58 but this is something that is of a great need. 00:20:13.61\00:20:17.75 We've actually been able to do some programs together, 00:20:17.78\00:20:19.91 and the Lord has blessed where he'll go 00:20:19.95\00:20:21.28 and do divine worship 00:20:21.32\00:20:22.65 and then we'll do programs in the afternoon. 00:20:22.68\00:20:25.35 The Lord has also, I do a lot of phone counseling, 00:20:25.39\00:20:27.96 and the Lord has also allowed us 00:20:27.99\00:20:29.46 to do some things together 00:20:29.49\00:20:30.83 as I call him, "The life coach," 00:20:30.86\00:20:32.69 especially, when I've been working with men, 00:20:32.73\00:20:34.30 sometimes, it's nice to have a man talk to a man 00:20:34.33\00:20:36.56 and the Lord has really blessed with that as well. 00:20:36.60\00:20:39.20 In fact that's the bulk of work I've been doing lately 00:20:39.23\00:20:41.77 is a lot of counseling by phone, 00:20:41.80\00:20:43.54 even overseas, and so, that's been a blessing, 00:20:43.57\00:20:47.14 I've enjoyed that. 00:20:47.18\00:20:48.51 For our viewers that maybe don't know, you are so well 00:20:48.54\00:20:50.55 and tell us a little bit, 00:20:50.58\00:20:52.15 you said you were born and raised in New York area? 00:20:52.18\00:20:54.48 Yes, yes. 00:20:54.52\00:20:55.85 And tell us a little bit about your background. 00:20:55.88\00:20:57.65 Were you raised in a Christian home? 00:20:57.69\00:20:59.15 And take us on a quick journey, 00:20:59.19\00:21:02.66 there's been a while, and where you are now. 00:21:02.69\00:21:05.09 Yes, I was born in a home 00:21:05.13\00:21:06.46 where my father was Non-Adventist 00:21:06.49\00:21:07.83 and my mother was Adventist, but it was a Christian home. 00:21:07.86\00:21:10.27 We went to Christian school. 00:21:10.30\00:21:12.73 Wonderful, loving home, 00:21:12.77\00:21:14.10 had two brothers and my sister was older, 00:21:14.14\00:21:15.97 she left the house earlier. 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.01 So then went to school, had fun, 00:21:18.04\00:21:20.14 went to Oakwood, had fun, came back to teach at Oakwood, 00:21:20.18\00:21:22.98 and did some private practice and have been able to travel. 00:21:23.01\00:21:28.12 I've even come to here, at 3ABN and done some program, 00:21:28.15\00:21:30.45 that's been a blessing. 00:21:30.49\00:21:31.82 So that's quick in a nutshell. 00:21:31.85\00:21:33.96 So did you know from early age where you wanted to, 00:21:33.99\00:21:36.59 what direction in life you wanted to go, 00:21:36.62\00:21:38.43 I mean, what got you into-- 00:21:38.46\00:21:40.06 I did, actually. Mental health. 00:21:40.10\00:21:41.43 Was that at college, 00:21:41.46\00:21:42.80 once you were in college, you decided? 00:21:42.83\00:21:44.17 Yes, before everyone was thinking she should be a doctor 00:21:44.20\00:21:46.40 'cause I did pretty well in school 00:21:46.43\00:21:47.87 and my dad wanted me to be a doctor, 00:21:47.90\00:21:50.57 that didn't work out and I found myself 00:21:50.61\00:21:52.27 listening to people a lot. 00:21:52.31\00:21:53.84 And I'd be at airports observing people 00:21:53.88\00:21:56.41 and then, I heard I could get paid for doing this. 00:21:56.44\00:21:58.98 I said, "Let me do a psychology," 00:21:59.01\00:22:00.48 I can be a psychologist, 00:22:00.52\00:22:01.85 and I could paid for doing that. 00:22:01.88\00:22:03.22 And so I didn't decide that, Danny, 00:22:03.25\00:22:05.05 until my third year of college, 00:22:05.09\00:22:06.42 I tried nursing, I tried physical therapy. 00:22:06.45\00:22:09.36 None of those fit and then, 00:22:09.39\00:22:10.76 psychology was like a glove which just fit. 00:22:10.79\00:22:13.90 And that's how I ended up doing that. 00:22:13.93\00:22:15.70 That's awesome. 00:22:15.73\00:22:17.07 What have you found 00:22:17.10\00:22:18.50 has been the primary difference 00:22:18.53\00:22:21.67 between a Christian psychological perspective 00:22:21.70\00:22:26.17 and the world's psychological perspective? 00:22:26.21\00:22:28.34 The primary difference 00:22:28.38\00:22:29.71 is that the Christian recognizes that 00:22:29.74\00:22:31.48 their source of healing is God. 00:22:31.51\00:22:33.92 Secular psychologist God is like a crutch, 00:22:33.95\00:22:36.92 you know, it's something that people do as pie in the sky. 00:22:36.95\00:22:41.39 And I was exposed to that type of response 00:22:41.42\00:22:44.19 as a Christian getting my doctorate 00:22:44.23\00:22:45.86 when I would bring up God, my professor would look at me 00:22:45.89\00:22:48.13 and say, "You poor girl, you'll understand when you get out," 00:22:48.16\00:22:50.50 you know and we don't really need God, 00:22:50.53\00:22:52.87 but you know now the literature is just, 00:22:52.90\00:22:54.74 the research is just teeming 00:22:54.77\00:22:56.30 and they can't run from it anymore. 00:22:56.34\00:22:57.74 But that's the main difference in response to your question 00:22:57.77\00:23:00.24 you've on they, we recognized there's a power 00:23:00.28\00:23:02.31 outside of our help, 00:23:02.34\00:23:03.81 ourselves that can help us with our mental health. 00:23:03.85\00:23:06.68 Yes, yes. 00:23:06.72\00:23:08.05 There's a book, I'm trying to remember the name 00:23:08.08\00:23:11.15 I think it's "How God changes the brain," 00:23:11.19\00:23:13.15 or something like that, and then, 00:23:13.19\00:23:14.52 actually, you'll love this. 00:23:14.56\00:23:16.09 I've heard of that. 00:23:16.12\00:23:17.46 It's an amazing book 00:23:17.49\00:23:19.13 and it alludes to the fact that the brain actually lights up 00:23:19.16\00:23:24.37 and get involved in prayer, and they can measure it. 00:23:24.40\00:23:28.34 They can measure it scientifically. 00:23:28.37\00:23:30.91 So it's like God and the more you pray 00:23:30.94\00:23:35.18 and the more you focus on God, 00:23:35.21\00:23:37.55 then, there are actual physiological changes 00:23:37.58\00:23:40.62 in the brain. 00:23:40.65\00:23:41.98 So it to me, I mean-- That's amazing. 00:23:42.02\00:23:44.09 That's what you think 00:23:44.12\00:23:45.45 that science is now replete with research. 00:23:45.49\00:23:48.52 That is corroborating the whole idea of praise 00:23:48.56\00:23:51.09 and worship and all of that. 00:23:51.13\00:23:52.96 So, I mean, I just think that's incredible. 00:23:52.99\00:23:54.33 And it's exciting. 00:23:54.36\00:23:55.70 Every time I read or study 00:23:55.73\00:23:57.07 that goes along with what the Bible says, 00:23:57.10\00:23:58.57 I just say, "The rocks are crying out," you know. 00:23:58.60\00:24:01.37 God knows how to reach people, 00:24:01.40\00:24:03.00 I might not be able to reach someone by opening the Bible, 00:24:03.04\00:24:05.61 but when I can say to them, "You know, science shows this." 00:24:05.64\00:24:08.48 I've seen situations where I've said, 00:24:08.51\00:24:10.28 "Science shows this." 00:24:10.31\00:24:12.11 And as you start to say, "Science shows this," 00:24:12.15\00:24:14.42 they, kind of, open themselves up 00:24:14.45\00:24:15.88 when you finally can say, you know. 00:24:15.92\00:24:17.29 And the Bible has been saying this thousands of years before 00:24:17.32\00:24:20.62 and you see people saying, "Really?" 00:24:20.66\00:24:23.32 Whereas before, I had just gone to them with the Bible, 00:24:23.36\00:24:25.59 the block would have come up. 00:24:25.63\00:24:27.50 So God is just using this I think 00:24:27.53\00:24:29.36 to spread His principles and His truth. 00:24:29.40\00:24:31.17 Yes. Yes. 00:24:31.20\00:24:32.53 And speaking of principles, you have written this book, 00:24:32.57\00:24:36.37 "Keys to Optimal Mental Health." 00:24:36.40\00:24:38.57 Yes. 00:24:38.61\00:24:39.94 And this, I've read it, and it is so good. 00:24:39.97\00:24:43.35 It is so, this book, it's a thin book, 00:24:43.38\00:24:47.78 and so, it's not like a long, long read, 00:24:47.82\00:24:50.65 it doesn't take forever to read it. 00:24:50.69\00:24:52.49 But it has some amazing principles in this book. 00:24:52.52\00:24:55.99 And one of the things I love about it 00:24:56.02\00:24:57.83 is it has, at the end of each chapter, 00:24:57.86\00:25:00.36 you can apply the information to your life. 00:25:00.40\00:25:04.00 So it's not just a general, 00:25:04.03\00:25:05.97 "Okay, this is what you do and that's it." 00:25:06.00\00:25:08.84 No, this is what you do. 00:25:08.87\00:25:10.21 Now let me walk you through how to make this apply to you. 00:25:10.24\00:25:14.18 Praise the Lord. 00:25:14.21\00:25:15.54 And so this is-- what inspired you to write this? 00:25:15.58\00:25:17.48 I'm gonna tell you. 00:25:17.51\00:25:18.85 I came, my husband, my dear husband, 00:25:18.88\00:25:21.28 he'd been hearing me talk about these different topics 00:25:21.32\00:25:23.59 and he says "Maggie, you need to put this in a book." 00:25:23.62\00:25:25.49 I've written two other books, I don't like writing books. 00:25:25.52\00:25:28.19 And he kept saying, "You need to write this," 00:25:28.22\00:25:29.82 and I'm like, "Ron, I don't want to write another book, 00:25:29.86\00:25:31.96 book writing is hard for me." 00:25:31.99\00:25:33.33 And then, I come up to 3ABN 00:25:33.36\00:25:35.96 and I do some issues and answers with Shelley Quinn 00:25:36.00\00:25:38.63 and guess what, she's like after the three programs, 00:25:38.67\00:25:41.50 "Magna, you better write a book over this, 00:25:41.54\00:25:43.61 you need to put this in a book." 00:25:43.64\00:25:45.07 And I said, "Lord, okay, I get it," 00:25:45.11\00:25:46.94 you know, but because of her encouraging me, 00:25:46.98\00:25:50.11 and my husband encouraging me, that's what led to that. 00:25:50.15\00:25:53.62 The other thing too is I like to interface science, 00:25:53.65\00:25:57.59 scripture, and inspired writings. 00:25:57.62\00:26:01.36 And so when I see science 00:26:01.39\00:26:03.09 that I've read in a book by a person who's inspired 00:26:03.12\00:26:07.80 or I've read in the Bible, 00:26:07.83\00:26:09.63 I'm like, "Oh, I love putting this together." 00:26:09.66\00:26:11.53 So when I talk I do that 00:26:11.57\00:26:13.13 and I said, "Why not do it in a little book, too?" 00:26:13.17\00:26:15.57 So that's what kind of led to that. 00:26:15.60\00:26:16.94 That's great because what this does is again it reinforces 00:26:16.97\00:26:21.78 if you're not a believer, 00:26:21.81\00:26:23.51 it shows that the Bible is still relevant. 00:26:23.55\00:26:26.31 That what's in there is applicable today. 00:26:26.35\00:26:30.79 And if you are a believer, 00:26:30.82\00:26:32.32 it just reinforces your faith on Bible. 00:26:32.35\00:26:34.19 And this is really, really excellent. 00:26:34.22\00:26:36.62 So I'd like to, kind of, 00:26:36.66\00:26:38.39 go over some of the principles in the book 00:26:38.43\00:26:41.30 and just, I think we should look at it. 00:26:41.33\00:26:43.73 So the first thing 00:26:43.77\00:26:45.70 that you talk about is changing your lifestyle. 00:26:45.73\00:26:48.37 Why is that important? 00:26:48.40\00:26:49.84 I look at that, you know, every house has a foundation. 00:26:49.87\00:26:53.44 And without a foundation, you can have beautiful walls, 00:26:53.48\00:26:55.74 beautiful roof, but it will fall. 00:26:55.78\00:26:57.81 And so for me, when I look at mental health, 00:26:57.85\00:26:59.81 and I understand our own health message 00:26:59.85\00:27:02.75 that says that, "When we take care of our bodies 00:27:02.78\00:27:05.45 it will have an impact on our mind." 00:27:05.49\00:27:07.69 Prior to me doing this, Danny and Yvonne, 00:27:07.72\00:27:10.99 when I was in practice, 00:27:11.03\00:27:12.36 I would spend a lot of time talking about, 00:27:12.39\00:27:14.80 "Well, how did your mother treat you 00:27:14.83\00:27:16.40 and what kind of relationship 00:27:16.43\00:27:17.77 did your mother and father have?" 00:27:17.80\00:27:19.13 And all of that has an impact. 00:27:19.17\00:27:20.57 But I was spending months, 00:27:20.60\00:27:21.94 years talking to people about this. 00:27:21.97\00:27:24.24 As I started to implement this, 00:27:24.27\00:27:26.78 people started to change much more quickly 00:27:26.81\00:27:29.08 those who were willing. 00:27:29.11\00:27:30.55 God gave you a quick case, a testimony, 00:27:30.58\00:27:33.11 a woman who was a nurse came in, 00:27:33.15\00:27:35.18 she was molested before 00:27:35.22\00:27:37.09 and then, she had been to several counselors 00:27:37.12\00:27:38.92 talking about this. 00:27:38.95\00:27:40.36 Because she had been to several counselors, 00:27:40.39\00:27:41.82 I've felt it not necessary to go over it with her again 00:27:41.86\00:27:44.29 and I started to tell her how the body affects the mind. 00:27:44.33\00:27:47.03 And maybe she should look at how she can change her diet, 00:27:47.06\00:27:49.83 she changed her diet. 00:27:49.86\00:27:51.20 In a few months, she came and she sat in front of me, 00:27:51.23\00:27:53.13 at that time, I was Dr. Parks, she says, "Dr. Parks, 00:27:53.17\00:27:54.90 I feel better changing my diet 00:27:54.94\00:27:57.47 than before when I was dealing with depression. 00:27:57.51\00:27:59.77 I feel better than when I was not depressed." 00:27:59.81\00:28:03.38 Just by changing her diet. 00:28:03.41\00:28:05.58 And I have stories 00:28:05.61\00:28:06.95 that I could tell about just people changing their diet 00:28:06.98\00:28:08.65 and how it affects the brain, so I thought I needed to say, 00:28:08.68\00:28:11.22 "This is the foundation for optimal mental health, 00:28:11.25\00:28:13.39 you need to eat, have a better diet, 00:28:13.42\00:28:15.96 you need to exercise, 00:28:15.99\00:28:17.33 you need to try to get proper rest, 00:28:17.36\00:28:18.79 you need to drink water." 00:28:18.83\00:28:20.20 All of these things has an impact on the brain 00:28:20.23\00:28:22.56 and all the rest of the principles 00:28:22.60\00:28:24.43 that I'm gonna share afterward, 00:28:24.47\00:28:26.17 you can better implement them if you take care of your body. 00:28:26.20\00:28:29.54 So that's how that came about. 00:28:29.57\00:28:31.27 And so good. 00:28:31.31\00:28:32.91 One of the things that people often don't connect, 00:28:32.94\00:28:36.21 while connecting the dots is that we're chemical being, 00:28:36.24\00:28:40.38 so the chemicals that we put into our bodies 00:28:40.42\00:28:43.99 affect how we respond whether we have depression, 00:28:44.02\00:28:48.89 anxiety, all of these things. 00:28:48.92\00:28:50.93 If we eat certain things, 00:28:50.96\00:28:52.29 it triggers a chemical response in the body 00:28:52.33\00:28:55.93 that is going to just cause 00:28:55.96\00:28:58.47 or at least foster and sometimes, 00:28:58.50\00:29:02.20 just make it so much worse, exacerbate these symptoms. 00:29:02.24\00:29:06.57 So if you change the diet, it's, kind of, a basic thing. 00:29:06.61\00:29:10.88 You're changing the chemicals, 00:29:10.91\00:29:12.48 the chemistry of the body which then changes, 00:29:12.51\00:29:15.45 you know, your response. 00:29:15.48\00:29:17.49 It's, kind of, 00:29:17.52\00:29:18.85 and maybe, in a lot of ways now, 00:29:18.89\00:29:20.22 I'm not a doctor like either one of you 00:29:20.26\00:29:21.92 but sometimes we call, 00:29:21.96\00:29:23.53 I call it, "Getting out of a rut." 00:29:23.56\00:29:25.56 When you do something for so long in your life, 00:29:25.59\00:29:29.10 you make a change all of a sudden, 00:29:29.13\00:29:31.57 you say, "World, you didn't say before." 00:29:31.60\00:29:33.23 Yes. 00:29:33.27\00:29:34.60 But the change you're talking about is a great change 00:29:34.64\00:29:37.21 because it comes straight from the Bible, 00:29:37.24\00:29:39.54 because now we're gonna take in Biblical principles 00:29:39.57\00:29:42.78 of how, what we take into our bodies. 00:29:42.81\00:29:45.15 The old saying is to be that you know we'd say, 00:29:45.18\00:29:47.68 if people eat a lot of sugar, 00:29:47.72\00:29:49.58 don't say anything wrong with them, 00:29:49.62\00:29:50.95 we'd say, "Would you put sugar in your gas tank?" 00:29:50.99\00:29:53.15 "Oh, no, I wouldn't do that," "Why not?" 00:29:53.19\00:29:55.36 'Cause that will shut the engine down. 00:29:55.39\00:29:56.73 Yes. Right. 00:29:56.76\00:29:58.09 So, you know, I'm getting to very practical part, 00:29:58.13\00:29:59.96 but what you're doing is, 00:30:00.00\00:30:01.60 I think, the first part is getting people out of erupt 00:30:01.63\00:30:04.30 because it's hard to change what you've always done. 00:30:04.33\00:30:07.74 Yes. It is. 00:30:07.77\00:30:09.10 And you wrote a song about that for kids. 00:30:09.14\00:30:10.91 I did. "You are what you eat." Oh, wow. 00:30:10.94\00:30:14.38 And it's great, I mean, for-- 00:30:14.41\00:30:16.21 to teach children how to eat properly, 00:30:16.24\00:30:19.81 the song "You are what you eat." 00:30:19.85\00:30:21.35 So on one of his projects. 00:30:21.38\00:30:24.09 If I can just say this too... Yes. 00:30:24.12\00:30:25.59 Like, I said that they are starting to catch up, 00:30:25.62\00:30:27.16 Dr. Roger Wall, he did a study, 00:30:27.19\00:30:28.96 he did a review of lot of studies, 00:30:28.99\00:30:30.59 and he found that if a person does these principles, 00:30:30.63\00:30:34.30 carries them out, 00:30:34.33\00:30:35.66 it can help just as much he says as counseling 00:30:35.70\00:30:39.60 and taking medication. 00:30:39.63\00:30:40.97 Now please, I'm not saying, "Get off of every medication." 00:30:41.00\00:30:42.70 Yeah, sure. I always like to add that. 00:30:42.74\00:30:45.37 Some people need it for a moment or however long, 00:30:45.41\00:30:47.94 but he's saying that 00:30:47.98\00:30:49.31 if you're consisting with these principles, 00:30:49.34\00:30:50.98 it can help you, as much as these two things. 00:30:51.01\00:30:53.55 That's tremendous. The rocks are crying out. 00:30:53.58\00:30:55.22 That's tremendous, when you think about it. 00:30:55.25\00:30:57.59 That's really tremendous to know that, 00:30:57.62\00:30:59.82 you can have a long term-- 00:30:59.85\00:31:02.49 I think you don't want to just manage symptoms. 00:31:02.52\00:31:06.06 You want to get to the root cause, 00:31:06.09\00:31:08.20 so if you can use dietary measures 00:31:08.23\00:31:11.50 to change the body's chemistry, you can get to the root cause. 00:31:11.53\00:31:16.14 Well, one of the hardest things in life to change is your diet. 00:31:16.17\00:31:19.34 Yes, it is. It is. 00:31:19.37\00:31:20.71 It's your lifestyle. It is. 00:31:20.74\00:31:22.08 So if we can gain victory over that, 00:31:22.11\00:31:23.48 you can almost gain victory over anything-- 00:31:23.51\00:31:25.65 Amen. 00:31:25.68\00:31:27.02 So it's great really, 00:31:27.05\00:31:28.38 because it takes a lot of sacrifice in the beginning 00:31:28.42\00:31:32.22 and before it's over, you're like, 00:31:32.25\00:31:33.66 "Wow, why I didn't do this before?" 00:31:33.69\00:31:35.16 Exactly. Yeah. 00:31:35.19\00:31:36.93 What about rest, 00:31:36.96\00:31:38.73 because, so often we can just burn ourselves out, 00:31:38.76\00:31:44.07 you know, push, push, push, push, 00:31:44.10\00:31:46.30 why is rest so important? 00:31:46.33\00:31:48.10 Well, rest is important 00:31:48.14\00:31:49.47 because every part of our body needs rest 00:31:49.50\00:31:53.01 in order to replenish, 00:31:53.04\00:31:54.64 and especially during the hours of sleep, 00:31:54.68\00:31:56.54 the brain does some replenishing, 00:31:56.58\00:31:58.88 it does some rejuvenation, 00:31:58.91\00:32:01.05 and if our difficulties with anxiety, 00:32:01.08\00:32:03.45 or depression, or mental health 00:32:03.49\00:32:05.55 is having to do a lot with the brain, 00:32:05.59\00:32:07.16 we need to give the brain rest. 00:32:07.19\00:32:08.56 And allow it to produce the chemicals 00:32:08.59\00:32:11.19 and to do what it needs to do 00:32:11.23\00:32:12.56 in order for us to function well. 00:32:12.59\00:32:13.93 And nowadays, people are so deprived of sleep. 00:32:13.96\00:32:17.83 I believe some depression is coming on 00:32:17.87\00:32:19.60 because are not getting enough rest. 00:32:19.63\00:32:22.00 That is so true. 00:32:22.04\00:32:23.37 You know, and it's the timing, too, 00:32:23.41\00:32:24.74 getting to bed before midnight is so important, 00:32:24.77\00:32:26.98 especially, if you're dealing with some of these issues 00:32:27.01\00:32:29.18 because some peak thing has happened. 00:32:29.21\00:32:31.85 Growth hormone, melatonin, 00:32:31.88\00:32:34.02 and so we need to be getting proper rest 00:32:34.05\00:32:35.78 in order to have good mental health, 00:32:35.82\00:32:37.15 it's, like, essential. 00:32:37.19\00:32:38.52 She started preaching now. And in Midland accent. 00:32:38.55\00:32:41.76 Midland, yeah, went to Midland instead of preaching. 00:32:41.79\00:32:45.76 For sure. But it's really true. 00:32:45.79\00:32:47.96 And you can get so caught up in whatever you're doing. 00:32:48.00\00:32:50.73 That you neglect the rest, 00:32:50.77\00:32:53.90 and that's when the body rejuvenates. 00:32:53.94\00:32:56.10 Like you said that's when the brain also 00:32:57.11\00:32:59.24 can get rejuvenated, 00:32:59.27\00:33:00.61 so I mean, it's just, rest is critical. 00:33:00.64\00:33:03.38 Yes, yes. 00:33:03.41\00:33:05.18 What about exercise? 00:33:05.21\00:33:06.95 A lot people-- I used to-- I exercise now regularly. 00:33:06.98\00:33:11.15 Praise the Lord. Amen. 00:33:11.19\00:33:12.52 But before I really wasn't, why is that so important? 00:33:12.55\00:33:16.83 And I know people say, "Oh, it's important to exercise," 00:33:16.86\00:33:20.20 but why do you think it's important? 00:33:20.23\00:33:21.96 You ever heard the phrase, 00:33:22.00\00:33:23.33 "If you don't use it, you lose it," 00:33:23.37\00:33:25.37 and that's with anything 00:33:25.40\00:33:26.74 in order to keep whatever going, 00:33:26.77\00:33:28.44 we need to exercise. 00:33:28.47\00:33:29.80 And then our bodies, if we don't use certain parts, 00:33:29.84\00:33:31.77 it will affect us, it releases certain hormones in the brain, 00:33:31.81\00:33:35.61 it just rejuvenates us. 00:33:35.64\00:33:36.98 All of these things are about rejuvenation and restoring, 00:33:37.01\00:33:39.48 the exercise, the drinking of the water. 00:33:39.51\00:33:41.58 I've dealt with the 16 year young girl, 00:33:41.62\00:33:43.45 16-year-old girl who was mildly depressed 00:33:43.49\00:33:45.65 just because she wasn't drinking enough water 00:33:45.69\00:33:47.66 Started to drinking water and those things just, 00:33:47.69\00:33:50.46 the depression just went away. 00:33:50.49\00:33:51.83 That's not the case with everybody, but in her case. 00:33:51.86\00:33:53.50 Right. 00:33:53.53\00:33:54.86 There's a Dr. Batmanghelidj, who wrote the book, 00:33:54.90\00:33:57.53 "Your Body's Many Cries For Water." 00:33:57.57\00:33:59.33 Yes. 00:33:59.37\00:34:00.70 And he mentions that, he treated over, 00:34:00.74\00:34:02.87 I think it's 2,000 or 3,000 cases of ulcers 00:34:02.90\00:34:06.88 in a prison camp. 00:34:06.91\00:34:08.61 He didn't have access to other drug and stuff, 00:34:08.64\00:34:11.88 with water, 00:34:11.91\00:34:13.25 because if you don't drink water, 00:34:13.28\00:34:15.65 the body gets dehydrated and all kinds of things happen, 00:34:15.68\00:34:19.35 all kinds of weird symptoms. 00:34:19.39\00:34:21.59 Can just occur as a result of dehydration. 00:34:21.62\00:34:24.26 So and I'm one that's not drinking the water, 00:34:24.29\00:34:27.00 so this is really good for me, too. 00:34:27.03\00:34:29.63 This is really good. 00:34:29.66\00:34:31.07 So we've got the foundation, now you also talk about, 00:34:31.10\00:34:36.27 "You are what you think." 00:34:36.30\00:34:38.47 Why are the thoughts so connected to how we feel? 00:34:38.51\00:34:44.01 It's amazing. 00:34:44.05\00:34:45.41 Feelings are kind of out there subjective, 00:34:45.45\00:34:48.62 not really, you know, they're unstable, 00:34:48.65\00:34:50.95 but a lot of times, 00:34:50.99\00:34:52.32 our feelings come from what we tell ourselves. 00:34:52.35\00:34:55.86 I can give an example, one time we were driving, 00:34:55.89\00:34:58.76 and my husband did something that, kind of, bothered me. 00:34:58.79\00:35:01.60 And I started to tell myself things 00:35:01.63\00:35:03.87 such as, "He doesn't care, he doesn't really love me," 00:35:03.90\00:35:07.64 and I had to stop myself, 00:35:07.67\00:35:09.14 and said, "Magna, you teach this stuff." 00:35:09.17\00:35:10.64 You know it, I can easily stay here and talk about this, 00:35:10.67\00:35:13.44 but I have to work on applying it. 00:35:13.48\00:35:15.64 And it started to say, you know what... 00:35:15.68\00:35:18.25 Actually, we were going to a seminar to talk about that 00:35:18.28\00:35:20.52 and I said, "You know, I need to apply 00:35:20.55\00:35:21.88 what I'm teaching here." 00:35:21.92\00:35:23.25 I said, "I'm not going down that road." 00:35:23.28\00:35:25.12 And I just changed my whole thinking pattern, 00:35:25.15\00:35:26.89 and I said, "You know what, everybody makes mistakes, 00:35:26.92\00:35:30.03 he may not think I've done 00:35:30.06\00:35:31.46 what I thought he did for certain reason," 00:35:31.49\00:35:33.19 and my whole mindset just changed. 00:35:33.23\00:35:35.00 And my whole demeanor just changed. 00:35:35.03\00:35:37.03 So our thoughts, what we tell ourselves, 00:35:37.07\00:35:39.43 it impacts how we act, it impacts how we feel, 00:35:39.47\00:35:42.47 God created us in that way. 00:35:42.50\00:35:44.31 And so even physiologists who are on to this 50 years ago 00:35:44.34\00:35:47.18 and now, when they are treating depression 00:35:47.21\00:35:48.61 or helping people, they start to say, 00:35:48.64\00:35:51.01 "Isolate and try to examine your thoughts 00:35:51.05\00:35:53.38 and see what you're telling yourself," 00:35:53.42\00:35:54.75 like, "Nobody loves me, 00:35:54.78\00:35:56.45 I'm the worst person in the world, 00:35:56.48\00:35:58.32 I'll never accomplish mission life." 00:35:58.35\00:35:59.82 Start to analyze that and start to change that, 00:35:59.85\00:36:02.82 and you'll find that it will affect how you feel. 00:36:02.86\00:36:05.36 And when I work with people, I've tried to do that. 00:36:05.39\00:36:07.53 And when I'm working to myself, I try to do that 00:36:07.56\00:36:09.36 because feelings and thoughts are so closely related. 00:36:09.40\00:36:11.83 You know, we tried when we were kids in school, 00:36:11.87\00:36:14.37 my dad had told us and I'm sure, probably, 00:36:14.40\00:36:16.54 many of the older folks have tried it, 00:36:16.57\00:36:18.07 but we sat one day, 00:36:18.11\00:36:20.21 let's tell, there is a certain kid in class, 00:36:20.24\00:36:22.51 I'll go by and tell him, "You don't feel good," 00:36:22.54\00:36:25.11 or "You don't look good." 00:36:25.15\00:36:26.92 And then, we would tell another pretty soon, 00:36:26.95\00:36:28.48 "You go by and tell him, "See, you don't look good, 00:36:28.52\00:36:30.69 are you sick today?" 00:36:30.72\00:36:32.09 And before noon, he was wanting to go home, 00:36:32.12\00:36:34.02 he was sick. 00:36:34.06\00:36:35.39 And here is the boy who'd come, 00:36:35.42\00:36:36.76 so my dad would tell me about this experience 00:36:36.79\00:36:38.43 and so I told, "Okay, let's go, 00:36:38.46\00:36:39.89 let's try that, let's just see." 00:36:39.93\00:36:41.56 So what everybody, all that. 00:36:41.60\00:36:43.80 I know that doesn't sound like me, right? 00:36:43.83\00:36:45.90 To be a button pusher like that. 00:36:45.93\00:36:48.04 Oh, my goodness. But it really did work. 00:36:48.07\00:36:49.50 If you go tell somebody in the morning, 00:36:49.54\00:36:51.14 "Well, you just don't look-- 00:36:51.17\00:36:52.61 Are you okay, you don't feel good?" 00:36:52.64\00:36:54.61 Then five minutes later, another kid, 00:36:54.64\00:36:56.51 "Boy, you look, kind of peaked, you sure you're feeling okay?" 00:36:56.54\00:37:00.08 Well, then just a little bit, 00:37:00.12\00:37:01.85 this guy is sick, he's ready to go home. 00:37:01.88\00:37:04.09 So that mental part what you're saying is, 00:37:04.12\00:37:07.72 you know, be positive. 00:37:07.76\00:37:10.59 I think we need to talk about why you did that? 00:37:10.63\00:37:12.99 Why I did that? I was teasing you. 00:37:13.03\00:37:14.73 I want to say if it worked-- 00:37:14.76\00:37:16.46 Want to see if it worked, but it does, 00:37:16.50\00:37:18.57 I mean, I've had people do me that way. 00:37:18.60\00:37:21.00 "Are you colored in?" 00:37:21.04\00:37:22.37 And all of a sudden you start thinking, "Am I okay?" 00:37:22.40\00:37:24.07 There you go, did you see what he said, you start thinking. 00:37:24.11\00:37:26.27 Yeah. Yeah, you do. 00:37:26.31\00:37:27.64 So it is important, but to stay positive, 00:37:27.68\00:37:30.31 and that's why it's such an advantage, 00:37:30.35\00:37:32.18 when you're Christian 00:37:32.21\00:37:33.55 and you've read the back of the book. 00:37:33.58\00:37:34.92 Amen. 00:37:34.95\00:37:36.28 The back of the book is not how long you live, 00:37:36.32\00:37:38.85 but what happens to us after we die. 00:37:38.89\00:37:41.36 Of course, we want to be healthy and happy. 00:37:41.39\00:37:43.86 Over work, stress, all that, 00:37:43.89\00:37:45.63 my throat right now, is no accident, 00:37:45.66\00:37:47.70 I've just, kind of, been going, running, running, running. 00:37:47.73\00:37:51.23 And so therefore, it affects what happens to me. 00:37:51.27\00:37:54.90 And so here mentally, we're talking about physically, 00:37:54.94\00:37:58.97 but mentally as well. 00:37:59.01\00:38:00.64 I've to be positive. 00:38:00.68\00:38:02.38 As a Christian, I know that I have hope. 00:38:02.41\00:38:05.35 And I know that I have life everlasting. 00:38:05.38\00:38:08.02 And so stay positive. Yes. 00:38:08.05\00:38:09.82 Don't let people get you down. Amen. 00:38:09.85\00:38:12.62 You know, just last night my husband had to do a pep talk 00:38:12.65\00:38:14.86 on me on something that happened, 00:38:14.89\00:38:16.22 some affairs, he had to say, start thinking, 00:38:16.26\00:38:19.33 all things work together for good. 00:38:19.36\00:38:21.63 And I started to repeat that, and some of anxiety went away. 00:38:21.66\00:38:25.60 So we as Christians, we have an advantage 00:38:25.63\00:38:27.60 'cause we have the principles in the Bible. 00:38:27.64\00:38:29.77 That can help us with our thoughts. 00:38:29.80\00:38:31.24 Absolutely. It's a blessing. 00:38:31.27\00:38:32.91 It is. It is. 00:38:32.94\00:38:35.28 There's a, Dr. Caroline Leaf, 00:38:35.31\00:38:38.31 who has done a lot of research with the brain. 00:38:38.35\00:38:40.92 I think I've heard you talk about her. 00:38:40.95\00:38:42.45 Yes, you probably have, 'cause I mentioned her in this book, 00:38:42.48\00:38:45.62 but she talks about forgiveness 00:38:45.65\00:38:49.42 and the power of forgiveness to-- 00:38:49.46\00:38:52.33 When we don't forgive, they're actually cells, 00:38:52.36\00:38:56.46 neurons that shoot out toxins into the bloodstream. 00:38:56.50\00:39:00.84 But when we forgive, those little cells go away. 00:39:00.87\00:39:05.81 So it's, like, God's gives us these principles in the Word. 00:39:05.84\00:39:09.41 It's not just forgive just for forgiveness sake, 00:39:09.44\00:39:12.28 but it also impacts us physiologically 00:39:12.31\00:39:15.48 as well as spiritually. 00:39:15.52\00:39:17.19 So we can, you know, really look to the Word for that. 00:39:17.22\00:39:21.66 What about self-control, like, what is it... 00:39:21.69\00:39:26.26 The Bible says that one of the fruits of the spirit 00:39:27.70\00:39:30.07 is self-control. 00:39:30.10\00:39:31.43 How do you differentiate that self-control 00:39:31.47\00:39:34.14 from the self-control 00:39:34.17\00:39:35.70 that you are discussing here? 00:39:35.74\00:39:38.24 Actually, yes, it's, kind of, related. 00:39:38.27\00:39:40.38 Self-control is about being able to control what we say, 00:39:40.41\00:39:44.55 what we do, what we think, 00:39:44.58\00:39:46.25 and sometimes, people are suffering mentally 00:39:46.28\00:39:48.65 because they don't know how to place a guard around 00:39:48.68\00:39:51.72 what they say, or what they think, 00:39:51.75\00:39:53.22 or what they do. 00:39:53.25\00:39:54.59 Addictions, comes from a lack of self-control. 00:39:54.62\00:39:57.23 I may not start in that way, but it can develop. 00:39:57.26\00:40:00.63 Over eating, any-- a lot of the problems. 00:40:00.66\00:40:02.90 Self-control is the basis of so many problems 00:40:02.93\00:40:05.23 in the society, domestic violence, child abuse, 00:40:05.27\00:40:08.74 alcoholism, drug addiction, overeating, 00:40:08.77\00:40:11.37 all of this is a problem with self-control. 00:40:11.41\00:40:13.81 And so, if people can start to implement 00:40:13.84\00:40:15.71 principles to help them, and sometimes we need help. 00:40:15.74\00:40:18.71 In fact, in the book I've mentioned, 00:40:18.75\00:40:20.08 one of the steps is to find someone 00:40:20.12\00:40:21.72 who can, you can accountable to, 00:40:21.75\00:40:23.59 you have a particular problem, will you help me, 00:40:23.62\00:40:25.79 will you pray with me, will you hold me 00:40:25.82\00:40:27.56 accountable to have control in this area? 00:40:27.59\00:40:30.33 So I encourage people for good mental health, 00:40:30.36\00:40:32.16 try to see what areas you should 00:40:32.19\00:40:33.53 need to control yourself in, 00:40:33.56\00:40:34.90 and seek the help that you can to develop 00:40:34.93\00:40:37.37 that control of self, which is not easy. 00:40:37.40\00:40:40.97 But it's the best thing for the good mental health. 00:40:41.00\00:40:43.77 Yeah, because I can see how, if you are, 00:40:43.81\00:40:48.24 if your appetite's out of control, 00:40:48.28\00:40:49.84 that's a problem. 00:40:49.88\00:40:51.21 If your words are out of control, 00:40:51.25\00:40:53.72 that's a problem. 00:40:53.75\00:40:55.08 So it's like you have to develop that, 00:40:55.12\00:40:58.82 and the Bible says, we can bring every thought 00:40:58.85\00:41:00.79 into captivity to Jesus Christ. 00:41:00.82\00:41:03.19 So there is a way to do it, but it isn't easy. 00:41:03.22\00:41:06.46 No, it isn't, in fact, none of these principles 00:41:06.49\00:41:08.63 in here are easy, that's the thing 00:41:08.66\00:41:10.43 I want people to realize. 00:41:10.47\00:41:12.00 But nothing good comes easy. 00:41:12.03\00:41:15.24 And if you work at it, by God's-- 00:41:15.27\00:41:17.11 and that's the thing about how to keep brining in God, 00:41:17.14\00:41:18.77 because we as Christian, when we believe 00:41:18.81\00:41:20.34 that we can get divine help to over come these things. 00:41:20.38\00:41:23.81 It's a wonderful thing. Yes. 00:41:23.85\00:41:25.58 That we don't have to just depend on ourselves for it. 00:41:25.61\00:41:28.48 Yes, yes. 00:41:28.52\00:41:29.85 That we have God, who will help us to do 00:41:29.88\00:41:32.15 what needs to be done, 00:41:32.19\00:41:33.52 because these are character issues too. 00:41:33.56\00:41:35.59 Yes, they are. And He is... 00:41:35.62\00:41:37.43 We can't change our spots, but you know, 00:41:37.46\00:41:40.40 can a leopard change its spot, so the Ethiopians can. 00:41:40.43\00:41:42.66 We can't change those things, but, what we can do, 00:41:42.70\00:41:46.00 is turn them over to God, 00:41:46.03\00:41:47.47 and ask him to help us to do that. 00:41:47.50\00:41:49.74 Everything we talked about so far goes back to self. 00:41:49.77\00:41:53.07 It's a great controversy between good and evil, 00:41:53.11\00:41:55.78 doing Christ and Satan. 00:41:55.81\00:41:57.45 Satan said, "I should be like the most high God." 00:41:57.48\00:42:00.38 You know, he was cast from heaven to this earth, 00:42:00.42\00:42:04.39 now he tries everybody to be just like him, 00:42:04.42\00:42:07.26 which is all about him. 00:42:07.29\00:42:08.96 He wants the honor and the praise, 00:42:08.99\00:42:10.76 so we as individuals, we either take on the character of Christ 00:42:10.79\00:42:14.66 or we take on the character of Satan. 00:42:14.70\00:42:16.90 There's really no end between. Amen. 00:42:16.93\00:42:18.70 We may wanna act like there is, 00:42:18.73\00:42:20.17 but there is really no end between. 00:42:20.20\00:42:22.04 Yeah, that is true. 00:42:22.07\00:42:23.41 And May Chung, used to tell me we have two natures. 00:42:23.44\00:42:25.94 We have a spiritual nature and beastly nature. 00:42:25.97\00:42:29.14 Whichever one we feed the most is the one that grows the most. 00:42:29.18\00:42:32.85 That's powerful. 00:42:32.88\00:42:34.22 Isn't that deep? Yes. 00:42:34.25\00:42:35.58 So in this case, everything here is self-control, 00:42:35.62\00:42:38.85 the only way I'm gonna overcome that is 00:42:38.89\00:42:41.29 keep my eyes and ears focused on the Word of God. 00:42:41.32\00:42:44.46 And study the character of Jesus. 00:42:44.49\00:42:47.36 And order for me to not think this world is built around. 00:42:47.40\00:42:51.23 My dad used to say, "Son, this whole world 00:42:51.27\00:42:53.03 didn't built around you, you're a little grain as sand, 00:42:53.07\00:42:56.07 right here, in this whole world, 00:42:56.10\00:42:57.44 do you think everything is gonna be, 00:42:57.47\00:42:59.34 you know, whatever you say or do, 00:42:59.37\00:43:01.28 you're just a little grain as sand. 00:43:01.31\00:43:03.21 You're only worth something because God created you, 00:43:03.24\00:43:05.91 He died for you, so you have plenty of value, 00:43:05.95\00:43:08.15 but don't think the whole world revolves around you." 00:43:08.18\00:43:11.02 So we really-- 00:43:11.05\00:43:12.55 It gets to that point, everything you're saying here 00:43:12.59\00:43:14.82 is principles to help us to look not at ourselves, 00:43:14.86\00:43:20.70 but more, and that's why we need God, 00:43:20.73\00:43:23.06 and we need a Savior. 00:43:23.10\00:43:24.53 And to know that there is a creator God, 00:43:24.57\00:43:26.87 who can help us overcome these things in our life. 00:43:26.90\00:43:30.31 And that says the song said come, 00:43:30.34\00:43:32.44 we come to the foot of the cross. 00:43:32.47\00:43:33.91 Yes. Give it to Jesus. 00:43:33.94\00:43:35.58 Amen, amen. Makes the difference. 00:43:35.61\00:43:37.85 You have anything? 00:43:37.88\00:43:39.21 I'm not a host, but my husband's 00:43:39.25\00:43:41.08 been sitting here and I'm just wondering if we, 00:43:41.12\00:43:42.72 you have anything you want to add 00:43:42.75\00:43:44.09 in terms of this self-control or the anything? 00:43:44.12\00:43:46.72 Well, you are hitting here right on the head, whether-- 00:43:46.76\00:43:48.99 this is so much of the very foundation, 00:43:49.02\00:43:50.83 and what's out there is-- 00:43:50.86\00:43:52.33 without self-control, we can't really have a correct 00:43:52.36\00:43:57.10 relationship with God. 00:43:57.13\00:43:59.73 I mean we can do nothing, but there again, 00:43:59.77\00:44:03.27 the Lord has given us enough self-control 00:44:03.30\00:44:05.84 I believe to be able to surrender to Him, 00:44:05.87\00:44:09.01 if we are willing to be able to come 00:44:09.04\00:44:11.28 to the foot of the cross. 00:44:11.31\00:44:12.68 That much self-control. 00:44:12.71\00:44:14.58 And then, from there He can make us stronger, 00:44:14.62\00:44:17.09 so that we can grow in Christ. 00:44:17.12\00:44:19.15 So it's yielding the will to Christ, right? 00:44:19.19\00:44:24.56 Yes, just turning it over to Him, 00:44:24.59\00:44:27.63 and then letting Him shape it. 00:44:27.66\00:44:30.03 And He said, go, 00:44:30.07\00:44:31.47 'cause it's a daily process, right? 00:44:31.50\00:44:33.03 Yes. Yes. 00:44:33.07\00:44:34.40 Daily process, that if we want to, 00:44:34.44\00:44:37.14 and if you're working out in weights, 00:44:37.17\00:44:39.11 and you want to beef yourself up, get more muscles. 00:44:39.14\00:44:42.91 It didn't happen today, 'cause I said, 00:44:42.94\00:44:44.61 "I think I workout well, look I'm..." 00:44:44.65\00:44:46.72 it's a process that every day 00:44:46.75\00:44:49.02 and it depends how I go about it. 00:44:49.05\00:44:51.55 Then I can grow, but same way spiritually, too, 00:44:51.59\00:44:54.12 and you say even you're mentally. 00:44:54.16\00:44:55.96 It's a step, so we don't need to think. 00:44:55.99\00:44:57.66 Boy, everything isn't gonna happen today. 00:44:57.69\00:45:00.23 It takes time, it takes us time to get 00:45:00.26\00:45:02.50 and the mess we're in. 00:45:02.53\00:45:04.07 And it takes some take some time to get out of that mess 00:45:04.10\00:45:07.70 because we live in a sinful world. 00:45:07.74\00:45:09.40 Yes, yes. Yes. 00:45:09.44\00:45:11.34 I'm glad you said that to encourage the listeners 00:45:11.37\00:45:13.78 if you're listening to know that it's a process 00:45:13.81\00:45:15.88 and you may hear these principles 00:45:15.91\00:45:17.61 and think that you're gonna just get over it quickly 00:45:17.65\00:45:20.12 and implement it, but it's a process, 00:45:20.15\00:45:21.62 you start a little and then you go from there. 00:45:21.65\00:45:23.32 Yeah. 00:45:23.35\00:45:24.69 And what you said earlier, it really helps me. 00:45:24.72\00:45:27.62 You teach this and yet you still struggle with it. 00:45:27.66\00:45:30.63 So it's not a matter that none of this isn't true, 00:45:30.66\00:45:33.26 it's all true but you're just saying I'm still human 00:45:33.29\00:45:36.36 and I have to depend on them pointing to your book, 00:45:36.40\00:45:39.00 here's all the viewers can't see. 00:45:39.03\00:45:40.54 But I have to depend on the Word of God, 00:45:40.57\00:45:42.20 I have to depend on these principles 00:45:42.24\00:45:44.27 to keep myself in line, 00:45:44.31\00:45:45.87 in order for me to grow more like Christ. 00:45:45.91\00:45:49.71 You know, so it is something, 00:45:49.74\00:45:51.48 it's a process of day after day 00:45:51.51\00:45:54.12 one, there's old song says, "One day at a time," 00:45:54.15\00:45:56.89 sweet Jesus, so one day at a time, 00:45:56.92\00:45:58.89 we draw closer to the Lord. 00:45:58.92\00:46:01.26 And we less of self and more of Christ. 00:46:01.29\00:46:04.86 Yes. Amen. 00:46:04.89\00:46:06.23 Paul realized that too, didn't he? 00:46:06.26\00:46:07.90 He is like, I counted up myself as one who has apprehended. 00:46:07.93\00:46:10.57 We could see himself in this process 00:46:10.60\00:46:12.53 growing day by day, 00:46:12.57\00:46:14.20 relying constantly on the strength of Christ. 00:46:14.24\00:46:16.07 Amen. Absolutely. 00:46:16.10\00:46:18.54 Now what about growing through adversity? 00:46:18.57\00:46:23.08 Because I think, you know, 00:46:23.11\00:46:24.95 adversity can either just bury you 00:46:24.98\00:46:30.02 or you can grow from it. 00:46:30.05\00:46:31.75 Yes. Let's talk about that a bit. 00:46:31.79\00:46:33.12 Yeah, you know, the Bible has a lot of text, 00:46:33.15\00:46:35.22 I used to try to understand about brethren 00:46:35.26\00:46:38.59 count and not joy when you fall, 00:46:38.63\00:46:40.23 I mean, count it not joy when you fall 00:46:40.26\00:46:42.13 into diverse temptations 00:46:42.16\00:46:43.63 and that the trying of your face 00:46:43.67\00:46:45.50 works in patience, I used to say, 00:46:45.53\00:46:47.30 "How could all of this happen?" 00:46:47.34\00:46:48.77 But it's a process of the Lord saying, 00:46:48.80\00:46:50.61 "I don't want these things to stunt you, 00:46:50.64\00:46:52.51 I want these things to help you to grow." 00:46:52.54\00:46:54.81 And so psychology finally caught on, 00:46:54.84\00:46:56.78 they talk about post-traumatic growth now 00:46:56.81\00:46:58.71 that people can grow and become better people 00:46:58.75\00:47:01.75 as a result of the trials 00:47:01.78\00:47:03.28 and difficulties that come in life. 00:47:03.32\00:47:05.52 And they say that you can do that by developing resilience, 00:47:05.55\00:47:09.26 resilience, when you throw a ball, 00:47:09.29\00:47:10.63 it comes right back. 00:47:10.66\00:47:11.99 If you develop that resilience, 00:47:12.03\00:47:13.40 emotionally, mentally, socially, spiritually, 00:47:13.43\00:47:17.07 you can actually allow this bad experience to help you to grow. 00:47:17.10\00:47:20.74 I personally can attest to that, 00:47:20.77\00:47:22.14 I'm a different person 00:47:22.17\00:47:23.51 now as a result of all the people 00:47:23.54\00:47:24.87 I've lost in my life. 00:47:24.91\00:47:26.24 I don't walk on water, I still need help 00:47:26.27\00:47:28.08 but I'm a different person as a result of the difficulty. 00:47:28.11\00:47:30.45 Also talk about that. 00:47:30.48\00:47:31.81 I think I'm more empathic towards people, 00:47:31.85\00:47:34.52 I'm more compassionate, before I couldn't relate 00:47:34.55\00:47:36.48 to a person losing a spouse before. 00:47:36.52\00:47:38.99 I couldn't relate to sickness 'cause I was diagnosed with MS 00:47:39.02\00:47:41.22 and Lord has, you know, healed me of that, 00:47:41.26\00:47:43.12 at least I don't have the symptoms right now. 00:47:43.16\00:47:45.93 I couldn't relate to that but now when I see people 00:47:45.96\00:47:48.10 with disabling illnesses, I have more compassion, 00:47:48.13\00:47:51.13 I feel like I can relate to them better. 00:47:51.17\00:47:53.74 It's not just, "Oh, you poor thing", 00:47:53.77\00:47:55.37 you know, pity but I really feel like 00:47:55.40\00:47:56.84 I can step in their shoes. 00:47:56.87\00:47:58.74 So I do know that that has happened to me 00:47:58.77\00:48:00.51 as a result of the difficulties I've been through. 00:48:00.54\00:48:03.58 I think we can choose to either-- 00:48:03.61\00:48:07.58 We can kind of choose our response... 00:48:07.62\00:48:09.78 Yes. To the adversity. 00:48:09.82\00:48:11.39 That's a very good point. 00:48:11.42\00:48:12.75 We don't have to be buried by it. 00:48:12.79\00:48:16.02 But it takes, I mean it's not easy 00:48:16.06\00:48:18.49 but I think we can, we can say, 00:48:18.53\00:48:20.43 this is either gonna help me to grow 00:48:20.46\00:48:23.26 or it's gonna overwhelm me. 00:48:23.30\00:48:25.63 Because sometimes you get hit by so many things at once 00:48:25.67\00:48:29.77 that, you know, you can either let it bury 00:48:29.80\00:48:33.88 or you can just keep on pressing. 00:48:33.91\00:48:35.48 Yeah. Right. 00:48:35.51\00:48:36.85 My consolation is to know, you know, it is true 00:48:36.88\00:48:39.15 the devil can rob us of our health, 00:48:39.18\00:48:41.05 he can rob us of finances, he can rob us of relationships, 00:48:41.08\00:48:44.72 but he can't rob us of our soul and where we spend eternity. 00:48:44.75\00:48:49.46 So great peace have they which love thy law 00:48:49.49\00:48:52.16 and nothing shall offend them, 00:48:52.19\00:48:54.00 simply that no matter what people say to you 00:48:54.03\00:48:56.73 can't get you down. I've learned a long time ago, 00:48:56.77\00:48:59.27 when you're on television as much as I've been, 00:48:59.30\00:49:01.64 people either love you or hate you. 00:49:01.67\00:49:03.74 And so, you know, and some people 00:49:03.77\00:49:06.21 want to put you up on a pedestal 00:49:06.24\00:49:07.61 which they shouldn't or they want to cast you down. 00:49:07.64\00:49:10.25 Right before I came on this program, 00:49:10.28\00:49:12.31 I read a letter marked to me personally. 00:49:12.35\00:49:14.58 Somebody said, "You're not a good person 00:49:14.62\00:49:16.72 and Lord show me out in dream and you're going to die." 00:49:16.75\00:49:19.69 And my answer would be to that 00:49:19.72\00:49:21.19 is well of course I'm gonna die, 00:49:21.22\00:49:23.02 should the Lord tarry. 00:49:23.06\00:49:24.56 But that's not the worst thing that can happen to somebody. 00:49:24.59\00:49:27.76 You haven't lost when you die, that's actually the beginning. 00:49:27.80\00:49:31.90 So I don't look at death, 00:49:31.93\00:49:33.80 I always think it's a waste of time, 00:49:33.84\00:49:35.70 I don't enjoy the thought of being dead 00:49:35.74\00:49:37.51 'cause you can't accomplish anything. 00:49:37.54\00:49:39.54 But, you know, in a simple term. 00:49:39.57\00:49:42.21 But people do that, they write, 00:49:42.24\00:49:44.61 there's today I probably had three letters, 00:49:44.65\00:49:46.65 people tell me what a horrible person I am. 00:49:46.68\00:49:48.82 Now these folks don't know me, they never met me 00:49:48.85\00:49:51.12 but they read what other people say. 00:49:51.15\00:49:53.15 And so they assume that they can do it 00:49:53.19\00:49:55.22 and I feel badly for them, because I think, 00:49:55.26\00:49:57.73 well, these people what a problem 00:49:57.76\00:50:00.26 that they're judging 00:50:00.30\00:50:01.63 and they're doing all these things. 00:50:01.66\00:50:03.00 Now I'm not saying that for any sympathy, 00:50:03.03\00:50:05.20 it's just something you grow up I've been 30 years in ministry. 00:50:05.23\00:50:08.67 So the same way, people will write 00:50:08.70\00:50:10.71 and tell you how wonderful you are. 00:50:10.74\00:50:12.84 That doesn't affect me. 00:50:12.87\00:50:14.34 I can't let any of it affect me. 00:50:14.38\00:50:16.14 The good or the bad, what I do appreciate 00:50:16.18\00:50:18.91 and someone wrote, read that right before it come out. 00:50:18.95\00:50:21.82 In the last two years, I've been watching 3ABN, 00:50:21.85\00:50:24.05 has changed my entire life. 00:50:24.09\00:50:25.75 Brought me closer to Jesus 00:50:25.79\00:50:27.39 and I want to thank Him for the ministry. 00:50:27.42\00:50:29.12 That I praise the Lord for. 00:50:29.16\00:50:30.99 But again, it's not about self. 00:50:31.03\00:50:33.26 And your book is really telling us 00:50:33.29\00:50:34.96 that, you know, we can't concentrate, 00:50:35.00\00:50:37.03 God has a plan for us. 00:50:37.07\00:50:39.53 And you're helping us to take advantage of principles 00:50:39.57\00:50:44.54 that God has laid out. 00:50:44.57\00:50:46.44 And yet someone could read this and not necessarily say, 00:50:46.47\00:50:49.94 "Oh, this is the Bible, I don't want to read the Bible." 00:50:49.98\00:50:52.41 But someone says, "Oh, well, keys to optimal mental health, 00:50:52.45\00:50:55.62 I'm gonna read that." 00:50:55.65\00:50:56.99 And what they will eventually find out 00:50:57.02\00:50:59.49 that you're giving them direction, 00:50:59.52\00:51:02.46 directly from the word of God. 00:51:02.49\00:51:03.83 Amen. 00:51:03.86\00:51:05.19 It's a great, it's a great book. 00:51:05.23\00:51:06.56 I'm glad you wrote it. Yeah. I am too. 00:51:06.59\00:51:08.90 I'm so glad you wrote this book. 00:51:08.93\00:51:10.27 Praise the Lord. 00:51:10.30\00:51:11.63 'Cause I think it can help so many people, 00:51:11.67\00:51:13.10 it's not, you know, it's a thin book, 00:51:13.13\00:51:15.97 so you don't have to be overwhelmed 00:51:16.00\00:51:17.61 when you look at it and go, oh, it's like 500 pages. 00:51:17.64\00:51:20.44 But it gets to the point 00:51:20.48\00:51:21.84 and it's got all of these principles 00:51:21.88\00:51:23.78 and it's got all these applications in it. 00:51:23.81\00:51:26.21 And I just think that's great. 00:51:26.25\00:51:27.65 Let's talk about the conscience. 00:51:27.68\00:51:29.12 Okay. 00:51:29.15\00:51:30.49 Developing a healthy conscience. 00:51:30.52\00:51:33.15 How do you differentiate between a healthy conscience 00:51:33.19\00:51:37.19 and being overwhelmed with guilt? 00:51:37.23\00:51:40.23 Being overwhelmed with guilt 00:51:40.26\00:51:41.60 is a sign of not having a healthy conscience. 00:51:41.63\00:51:44.37 And so people are suffering sometimes 00:51:44.40\00:51:46.80 because of unresolved guilt, they have guilt over things 00:51:46.84\00:51:49.07 they've done in the past. 00:51:49.10\00:51:50.54 And their conscience is just tricked and tender. 00:51:50.57\00:51:53.21 And so helping people to be able to develop 00:51:53.24\00:51:55.34 a healthy conscious so they can accurately choose 00:51:55.38\00:51:57.35 what's right and wrong is so important. 00:51:57.38\00:51:59.48 That's good. Absolutely. 00:51:59.51\00:52:01.88 What I'm overwhelmed with is I cannot, look at that clock... 00:52:01.92\00:52:04.29 I know. This time is almost gone. 00:52:04.32\00:52:06.59 A whole hour, I can't believe it. 00:52:06.62\00:52:08.52 This has been so good. 00:52:08.56\00:52:09.89 As they say, time flies when you're having fun. 00:52:09.92\00:52:12.59 But what we want to do there are those I know, 00:52:12.63\00:52:15.03 folk who want to contact you, they'll want to see 00:52:15.06\00:52:17.30 how to get this book, maybe other information 00:52:17.33\00:52:19.73 that you both have, 00:52:19.77\00:52:21.14 find out more about your ministry. 00:52:21.17\00:52:23.04 And so what we're gonna do, we're gonna put the address 00:52:23.07\00:52:25.04 up on the screen then we're gonna go to a news break 00:52:25.07\00:52:28.01 and we will be back for a closing thought. 00:52:28.04\00:52:29.88 Be In Good Health is a Christian organization 00:52:32.81\00:52:35.18 that provides education and resources for physical, 00:52:35.22\00:52:38.45 spiritual and mental health. 00:52:38.49\00:52:40.36 If you'd like to know more 00:52:40.39\00:52:41.72 or if you'd like to receive one of their books. 00:52:41.76\00:52:43.63 You can call 678-562-7512. 00:52:43.66\00:52:47.86 That's 678-562-7512. 00:52:47.90\00:52:51.80 You can visit them online at bingoodhealth.com. 00:52:51.83\00:52:55.90 That's bingoodhealth.com. 00:52:55.94\00:53:00.88 Or you can e-mail them at info@bingoodhealth.com. 00:53:00.91\00:53:05.88 That's info@bingoodhealth.com. 00:53:05.91\00:53:11.45
