Murray, 00:01:09.40\00:01:10.73 and allow me once again to thank you for sharing 00:01:10.77\00:01:13.07 just a little of your no doubt busy day with us, 00:01:13.10\00:01:16.34 to thank you for your love, your prayers, 00:01:16.37\00:01:17.71 your support of Three Angeles Broadcasting Network. 00:01:17.74\00:01:20.11 We want you to draw close because I am excited, 00:01:20.14\00:01:23.98 yea, verily excited because of our program, 00:01:24.01\00:01:26.82 the subject matter and my guest. 00:01:26.85\00:01:29.92 We'll talk about two exciting people 00:01:29.95\00:01:32.79 and I'm kind of over using that word. 00:01:32.82\00:01:34.56 But I'm at a lost for word 00:01:34.59\00:01:36.52 to describe the doctors Lewis Chris and Lela. 00:01:36.56\00:01:40.40 He a general surgeon, she OBGYN. 00:01:40.43\00:01:44.27 And for our purposes, the driving forces, 00:01:44.30\00:01:48.34 those that the Lord has laid the burden on 00:01:48.37\00:01:50.14 for Your Best Pathway to Health. 00:01:50.17\00:01:52.24 And if you've been in a cave or somewhere you haven't been 00:01:52.27\00:01:55.44 near television, or seen this program, 00:01:55.48\00:01:57.48 or any number of other programs, 00:01:57.51\00:01:59.38 you may not know what they are doing, 00:01:59.41\00:02:01.18 but you will know thoroughly 00:02:01.22\00:02:02.88 aired this program shall have ended 00:02:02.92\00:02:04.89 that they are a part 00:02:04.92\00:02:06.32 of what I call a move of God and the body of Christ. 00:02:06.35\00:02:08.72 One of the most exciting initiatives that the Lord 00:02:08.76\00:02:11.53 has given to his church in really quite a while. 00:02:11.56\00:02:14.36 One, that is impacting lives and towns and cities 00:02:14.40\00:02:17.47 and churches and communities 00:02:17.50\00:02:20.14 in a way that I don't think anything else 00:02:20.17\00:02:22.47 that we've done as a church 00:02:22.50\00:02:23.84 for the last 100 years has done. 00:02:23.87\00:02:26.84 We've left footprints in certain towns 00:02:26.88\00:02:29.78 that we're gonna talk about. 00:02:29.81\00:02:31.15 Where this program has, has gone on that, 00:02:31.18\00:02:36.45 really I don't see any other initiative that we've done 00:02:36.48\00:02:38.85 as a church that, that has the kind of impact 00:02:38.89\00:02:40.82 that Your Best Pathway to Health has. 00:02:40.86\00:02:43.29 And these two semi-weary looking people are at, 00:02:43.32\00:02:49.06 at the very forefront of this. 00:02:49.10\00:02:50.63 And we will give you reason 00:02:50.67\00:02:52.50 for what may be the look of fatigue. 00:02:52.53\00:02:55.70 But they're just two wonderful people 00:02:55.74\00:02:57.07 with a lot of energy and four kids. 00:02:57.11\00:02:59.64 Yes. Yes, sir. 00:02:59.67\00:03:01.01 And four children. 00:03:01.04\00:03:02.94 Dr. Chris, Dr. Lela Lewis. 00:03:02.98\00:03:04.91 Guys, thank you so much for being here. 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.68 Thank you for having us. 00:03:06.72\00:03:08.05 And thank you for allowing God to use you 00:03:08.08\00:03:10.05 in such a mighty and miraculous way. 00:03:10.09\00:03:13.42 Just to be a part of this 00:03:13.46\00:03:14.82 and I know that the number of people who can say, 00:03:14.86\00:03:17.56 I have been part of this is growing 00:03:17.59\00:03:18.96 and growing and growing and growing 00:03:18.99\00:03:20.96 to be part of this move 00:03:21.00\00:03:22.46 and to see what God is doing 00:03:22.50\00:03:23.83 through Your Best Pathway to Health 00:03:23.87\00:03:25.47 is really, it's just, it's great. 00:03:25.50\00:03:30.01 You search for adjectives 00:03:30.04\00:03:31.84 because there's nothing to compare this with, 00:03:31.87\00:03:33.78 because we as the church, 00:03:33.81\00:03:35.14 we haven't done anything like this before 00:03:35.18\00:03:36.64 that's had the kind of immediate impact. 00:03:36.68\00:03:38.81 And, guys, we want to go back 00:03:38.85\00:03:40.82 and just set a little foundation 00:03:40.85\00:03:42.38 because the future is real bright and real big 00:03:42.42\00:03:45.39 and you have been at this long enough. 00:03:45.42\00:03:46.76 And now we can talk about, use words like legacy 00:03:46.79\00:03:49.49 and you know, and history and these kinds of things. 00:03:49.52\00:03:53.76 But, we have gone to Oakland and San Francisco. 00:03:53.80\00:04:00.34 We have gone to San Antonio. 00:04:00.37\00:04:05.24 We have gone Spokane and we've seen miracle 00:04:05.27\00:04:11.11 upon miracle, upon miracle, upon miracle. 00:04:11.15\00:04:13.65 So I know that you guys have convinced this is a God thing, 00:04:13.68\00:04:15.88 because God has knocked down doors 00:04:15.92\00:04:17.75 and push through doors and gone over obstacles, 00:04:17.79\00:04:23.39 over and over and over again you have seen that. 00:04:23.43\00:04:26.13 And now we are thinking about going to a really big town. 00:04:26.16\00:04:30.10 But let's go back. 00:04:32.67\00:04:34.00 You started in Oakland and San Francisco, 00:04:34.04\00:04:37.27 now that was sort of dipping your toes in the water 00:04:37.31\00:04:39.41 because that wasn't as big, 00:04:39.44\00:04:40.78 but just walk us through how that started, 00:04:40.81\00:04:42.28 then we'll move quickly to San Antonio, 00:04:42.31\00:04:44.01 look at some video 00:04:44.05\00:04:45.38 and then we're gonna talk about what's ahead. 00:04:45.41\00:04:47.02 And then you got to some volunteers, 00:04:47.05\00:04:48.38 we got to get some help. 00:04:48.42\00:04:49.78 Well, thank you, C.A.. 00:04:49.82\00:04:51.15 Yeah, you know we started out 00:04:51.19\00:04:52.52 "Your Best Pathway to Health" its debut if you will, 00:04:52.55\00:04:54.89 San Francisco and Oakland as a service of ASI, 00:04:54.92\00:04:59.33 Adventist-laymen's Services and Industries. 00:04:59.36\00:05:01.16 We took off. We had that small event. 00:05:01.20\00:05:03.03 We only have 500 volunteers and by God's grace 00:05:03.06\00:05:06.23 we serviced 3,100 people in two and a half days, 00:05:06.27\00:05:09.40 so it was exciting. 00:05:09.44\00:05:10.77 Yeah. It was unbelievable. 00:05:10.81\00:05:12.27 But what we saw there was the beginning 00:05:12.31\00:05:14.84 of a massive impact not only on the volunteers, 00:05:14.88\00:05:18.61 but on the patients and the community at large. 00:05:18.65\00:05:22.65 You remember the Oakland Mayor came and spoke 00:05:22.68\00:05:25.59 at that first gratitude session? 00:05:25.62\00:05:27.72 And that in it of itself 00:05:27.76\00:05:29.12 was an amazing, amazing new adventure. 00:05:29.16\00:05:31.73 So it really did take off there in San Francisco and Oakland. 00:05:31.76\00:05:35.06 Now when you began in San Francisco, Oakland, 00:05:35.10\00:05:37.77 I don't know if you had in your mind 00:05:37.80\00:05:39.43 the long-term train that you are on now. 00:05:39.47\00:05:44.67 How did the series of cities that ensued, 00:05:44.71\00:05:48.44 how did they come to, you know, to your notice 00:05:48.48\00:05:50.08 and how do they get sort of onboard? 00:05:50.11\00:05:52.25 Well, Dr. Chris, you want to explain 00:05:52.28\00:05:53.62 the application process? 00:05:53.65\00:05:55.12 Sure. Sure. 00:05:55.15\00:05:56.89 Even actually before San Francisco, and Oakland, 00:05:56.92\00:06:00.19 a number of people had seen enough miracles take place, 00:06:00.22\00:06:03.16 barriers taken down, 00:06:03.19\00:06:04.53 roadblocks moved out of the way, 00:06:04.56\00:06:06.33 that there came in invitation, if you will, 00:06:06.36\00:06:08.86 in our first application from the union in Texas 00:06:08.90\00:06:13.57 to come and do an event there, a larger event in San Antonio. 00:06:13.60\00:06:19.27 Now was it always determined to sort of bind that 00:06:19.31\00:06:22.88 with General Conference or keep it separate, 00:06:22.91\00:06:24.81 was that linkage on early on? 00:06:24.85\00:06:26.65 We had to, that's actually why Elder Mickey had asked us, 00:06:26.68\00:06:29.55 he said, would you come to San Antonio and do an event 00:06:29.58\00:06:33.29 preceding the General Conference session? 00:06:33.32\00:06:35.56 And we had decided, you know, 00:06:35.59\00:06:36.96 this is an awesome opportunity to, 00:06:36.99\00:06:40.36 to actually not just have an event, 00:06:40.40\00:06:42.53 but actually do something like as a General Conference event, 00:06:42.56\00:06:45.40 but actually give back to the community 00:06:45.43\00:06:47.37 that we're having 00:06:47.40\00:06:48.74 the General Conference actually in. 00:06:48.77\00:06:50.31 And the results... 00:06:50.34\00:06:51.67 Tell me about the media results 00:06:51.71\00:06:53.04 that we just found out about. 00:06:53.07\00:06:54.88 Well, there were 78 separate broadcasts, 00:06:54.91\00:06:58.95 whether that's television or Newspaper or radio, 00:06:58.98\00:07:03.32 media events, we're in network television, 00:07:03.35\00:07:05.65 it was even in USA Today, 00:07:05.69\00:07:07.46 it was in The Wall Street Journal, 00:07:07.49\00:07:09.09 the event there in San Antonio 00:07:09.12\00:07:11.69 talking about what happened, the patients that were served. 00:07:11.73\00:07:14.86 In fact the General Conference communication department 00:07:14.90\00:07:17.27 just announced last week 00:07:17.30\00:07:18.63 that they had more media publicity 00:07:18.67\00:07:21.17 for this General Conference session 00:07:21.20\00:07:22.80 than all previous ones. 00:07:22.84\00:07:24.17 I think it was three times... 00:07:24.21\00:07:25.54 Not just more, three times more. 00:07:25.57\00:07:26.91 Three times the number of publicity. 00:07:26.94\00:07:28.31 And publicity is not what counts, 00:07:28.34\00:07:30.65 the whole point is that God's Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:07:30.68\00:07:33.48 is being uplifted, rising out of obscurity, 00:07:33.52\00:07:36.12 if you will, like Isaiah 58 says. 00:07:36.15\00:07:38.42 So that Christ glory has righteousness 00:07:38.45\00:07:40.99 can shine to the world through His church, 00:07:41.02\00:07:42.96 and that to me is the most exciting aspect. 00:07:42.99\00:07:45.59 Well, publicity is when, you're advertising 00:07:45.63\00:07:48.46 is when you say good things about yourself. 00:07:48.50\00:07:50.80 Publicity is when others say good things about you. 00:07:50.83\00:07:52.93 Amen. 00:07:52.97\00:07:54.30 When people say things about you 00:07:54.34\00:07:55.67 when you're doing something for them. 00:07:55.70\00:07:57.04 So the publicity is an outgrowth 00:07:57.07\00:07:58.97 of what actually is happening 00:07:59.01\00:08:01.14 and how the community is responding to something 00:08:01.18\00:08:03.28 that they have never seen before. 00:08:03.31\00:08:05.01 And I know you've seen the looks of incredulity, 00:08:05.05\00:08:08.08 for one of our better term, why are you guys doing this? 00:08:08.12\00:08:10.32 Where is this coming from? 00:08:10.35\00:08:12.29 And that's one of the, kind of, hurdles, I think, 00:08:12.32\00:08:13.92 that the skepticism that you got to deal with at first 00:08:13.96\00:08:16.66 because nobody does this kind of thing, free medical... 00:08:16.69\00:08:20.06 Yeah. Right, right. 00:08:20.10\00:08:21.43 So where is the catch? Exactly. 00:08:21.46\00:08:23.03 And we've seen that over and over again 00:08:23.06\00:08:24.83 in every city we have gone to. 00:08:24.87\00:08:26.33 Why are you doing this? 00:08:26.37\00:08:27.70 And it's an awesome opportunity to share the gospel. 00:08:27.74\00:08:29.70 Yes. 00:08:29.74\00:08:31.07 Well, as Seventh-day Adventists, 00:08:31.11\00:08:32.44 we're Christians and we think it's such an honor to be able 00:08:32.47\00:08:34.94 to follow in Christ's footsteps to provide physical, mental, 00:08:34.98\00:08:38.01 and spiritual healing to those in need 00:08:38.05\00:08:39.78 and that's why we are doing it. 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.15 Praise the Lord. 00:08:41.18\00:08:42.52 And literally the government officials, 00:08:42.55\00:08:44.09 the media have had tears in their eyes 00:08:44.12\00:08:47.16 as they've not just heard the words, 00:08:47.19\00:08:48.96 but more importantly seen in action what we believe. 00:08:48.99\00:08:52.29 Yeah, yeah, I've heard the stories. 00:08:52.33\00:08:53.83 I was at the pre-meeting 00:08:53.86\00:08:55.20 where you were telling the story 00:08:55.23\00:08:56.56 about this chain or this lady who's working 00:08:56.60\00:08:58.43 and her relative and that kind of thing 00:08:58.47\00:09:00.07 and it happens over. 00:09:00.10\00:09:01.44 So once your jaw comes up off the floor 00:09:01.47\00:09:03.64 you realize there's something really good 00:09:03.67\00:09:05.37 is happening here 00:09:05.41\00:09:06.74 that we want to get on board. 00:09:06.78\00:09:08.38 Amen. 00:09:08.41\00:09:09.74 Give the numbers of... 00:09:09.78\00:09:11.61 Because we talked about 500 volunteers, 00:09:11.65\00:09:13.78 Oakland, San Francisco. 00:09:13.82\00:09:16.89 Those numbers jumped up considerably. 00:09:16.92\00:09:18.85 So give me the numbers of volunteers for San Antonio 00:09:18.89\00:09:21.66 and then the number of patients 00:09:21.69\00:09:23.53 that you were able to deal with in San Antonio. 00:09:23.56\00:09:27.56 Well, we had 1700 volunteers, Praise God, 00:09:27.60\00:09:30.70 who signed up to come to San Antonio and volunteer. 00:09:30.73\00:09:33.23 That's medical and non-medical. 00:09:33.27\00:09:35.64 Because one of the beautiful things about this event is, 00:09:35.67\00:09:38.47 someone might be watching and they say, well, 00:09:38.51\00:09:40.21 this sounds pretty exciting but I'm not a doctor, 00:09:40.24\00:09:42.18 I'm not a dentist, I'm not an optometrist, 00:09:42.21\00:09:44.45 you know, what can I do? 00:09:44.48\00:09:45.91 But, what is so awesome about 00:09:45.95\00:09:49.42 this kind of medical gospel combination work, 00:09:49.45\00:09:53.69 that I believe God has put together, 00:09:53.72\00:09:55.66 is that no matter who you are as a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:09:55.69\00:09:58.63 you can come and be a part of medical missionary work 00:09:58.66\00:10:01.63 of reaching these people and impacting their lives, 00:10:01.66\00:10:03.93 whether you are someone that is a hospitality worker 00:10:03.97\00:10:06.50 that tours the people around the event, 00:10:06.53\00:10:09.60 or you are part of registration, 00:10:09.64\00:10:11.24 you check the people in, or you are helping to, 00:10:11.27\00:10:14.44 you know, do a root canal on a tooth or cut off a tooth. 00:10:14.48\00:10:16.68 Or you're an electrician, right? 00:10:16.71\00:10:18.21 You're an electrician 00:10:18.25\00:10:19.58 and you help with the electricity 00:10:19.61\00:10:20.95 and the plumbing. 00:10:20.98\00:10:22.32 We use plumbers. I mean anybody and everybody. 00:10:22.35\00:10:24.49 If you are willing... 00:10:24.52\00:10:25.85 Oh, we're adding, we're adding law services to Los Angeles 00:10:25.89\00:10:28.32 just to jump ahead. 00:10:28.36\00:10:29.69 But again-- 00:10:29.72\00:10:31.06 Legal services. So those little things. 00:11:04.79\00:11:06.13 And let me compliment you both on this. 00:11:06.16\00:11:08.76 God has seen fit to put in your path 00:11:08.80\00:11:10.67 and become part of the ministry. 00:11:10.70\00:11:12.03 People who are very low on the crabby quotient. 00:11:12.07\00:11:17.41 You know, they know how to smile 00:11:17.44\00:11:19.57 because doing this from early in the morning 00:11:19.61\00:11:21.88 till fairly late in the afternoon 00:11:21.91\00:11:24.35 and to hold that smile and hold that love 00:11:24.38\00:11:26.48 and let that love of Christ show. 00:11:26.51\00:11:28.65 And I'm talking about the professionals 00:11:28.68\00:11:30.02 and the non-professionals. 00:11:30.05\00:11:31.39 Yes, yes. It's a blessing. 00:11:31.42\00:11:32.75 God has brought in your path 00:11:32.79\00:11:34.99 good quality Christian volunteers. 00:11:35.02\00:11:36.93 Now I don't know if everybody is that way, 00:11:36.96\00:11:38.46 but the ones I've dealt with were 00:11:38.49\00:11:40.70 and I want to congratulate you for that 00:11:40.73\00:11:42.06 because God has done that for you. 00:11:42.10\00:11:43.43 Amen. 00:11:43.47\00:11:44.80 Well, you know in San Antonio with all those volunteers, 00:11:44.83\00:11:46.80 those 1700 volunteers, by God's grace we serviced 00:11:46.84\00:11:49.37 6, 200 patients, 6,192 to be exact. 00:11:49.40\00:11:53.21 Yes, yes, praise the Lord. 00:11:53.24\00:11:54.58 So it was an exciting, exciting opportunity there. 00:11:54.61\00:11:57.01 Yeah. 00:11:57.05\00:11:58.38 I got a chance to film and we have yet, this film has not, 00:11:58.41\00:12:01.72 and I knew it was when I shot it, 00:12:01.75\00:12:03.82 to see you remove this large thing from the back of a lady. 00:12:03.85\00:12:08.29 And as I was shooting it, I was saying, you know what? 00:12:08.32\00:12:10.29 No one's ever gonna watch this. 00:12:10.33\00:12:13.46 And I showed it to Jim O'Connor, 00:12:13.50\00:12:14.83 and she said, oh, I'd like to take a look at that. 00:12:14.86\00:12:16.46 So about 30 seconds in, she said okay, 00:12:16.50\00:12:18.77 I think I have seen enough. 00:12:18.80\00:12:21.30 But you've got, you have 00:12:21.34\00:12:23.04 really complex surgeries going on. 00:12:23.07\00:12:24.74 You've got medical care of all kinds is going on, 00:12:24.77\00:12:27.31 it's all free. 00:12:27.34\00:12:28.74 And what has been, 00:12:28.78\00:12:30.45 because we talk about legacy and impact. 00:12:30.48\00:12:33.88 We know what the impact is on the patient. 00:12:33.92\00:12:35.98 What about the community officials, mayors, 00:12:36.02\00:12:39.15 deputy mayors, police, 00:12:39.19\00:12:40.96 you know those who are running the towns, 00:12:40.99\00:12:43.86 what are they saying in the wake 00:12:43.89\00:12:45.23 of the kinds of things that you're doing? 00:12:45.26\00:12:46.59 They are saying, they can not believe 00:12:46.63\00:12:48.23 what the Seventh-day Adventist Church is doing 00:12:48.26\00:12:49.93 for their community. 00:12:49.96\00:12:51.33 They are overwhelmed. 00:12:51.37\00:12:52.70 In fact, the gentleman who's in charge 00:12:52.73\00:12:54.20 of both the Alamodome 00:12:54.24\00:12:55.74 and The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center 00:12:55.77\00:12:57.81 'cause remember we had our meetings 00:12:57.84\00:12:59.34 in the evening at The Henry B, 00:12:59.37\00:13:00.74 and then over at the Alamodome. 00:13:00.78\00:13:03.71 He came to the gratitude session 00:13:03.75\00:13:06.31 there at the Pathway to Health event, 00:13:06.35\00:13:08.02 and then he also ran into me at General Conference session 00:13:08.05\00:13:10.52 and both times he had tears in his eyes. 00:13:10.55\00:13:13.66 In fact at the gratitude session, 00:13:13.69\00:13:15.12 they were actually streaming down his cheeks. 00:13:15.16\00:13:17.69 Absolutely dumb founded 00:13:17.73\00:13:19.39 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:13:19.43\00:13:21.00 and what they were doing for his community. 00:13:21.03\00:13:23.60 And he's a perfect example of many, many others. 00:13:23.63\00:13:26.84 The mayor herself, 00:13:26.87\00:13:28.34 even at General Conference made a note, 00:13:28.37\00:13:31.07 again on Saturday night, again thanked everyone, 00:13:31.11\00:13:34.64 the church for doing this for her community. 00:13:34.68\00:13:37.08 It is having an absolutely 00:13:37.11\00:13:39.21 tremendous affect on the cities 00:13:39.25\00:13:41.18 and Spokane the same thing. 00:13:41.22\00:13:42.88 Over and over again we're seeing, 00:13:42.92\00:13:45.22 it's making unbelievable inroads with people 00:13:45.25\00:13:48.22 that we might never, 00:13:48.26\00:13:49.59 otherwise not necessarily have good inroads with. 00:13:49.62\00:13:53.60 As I look at the cities, Oakland, San Francisco, 00:13:53.63\00:13:56.40 San Antonio, Spokane, very diverse towns 00:13:56.43\00:13:58.73 and they tend to be west but very different cities. 00:13:58.77\00:14:02.34 How does one get into your, you know, 00:14:02.37\00:14:06.61 how do you know where to go and who is next? 00:14:06.64\00:14:08.68 How does that happen? 00:14:08.71\00:14:10.05 Talk to me a little bit about the process of city selection? 00:14:10.08\00:14:13.95 Good question. 00:14:13.98\00:14:15.32 So Your Best Pathway to Health again, 00:14:15.35\00:14:16.75 as a service of ASI, 00:14:16.79\00:14:18.12 we have our own organization and our own board 00:14:18.15\00:14:20.92 and we receive applications from unions, from conferences, 00:14:20.96\00:14:24.89 and we want it to be 00:14:24.93\00:14:26.29 a collaborative endeavor, Right? 00:14:26.33\00:14:27.73 It's the laity and the church working together, 00:14:27.76\00:14:30.03 the medical and the non-medical, 00:14:30.07\00:14:31.40 so we want a collaborative group effort going forward. 00:14:31.43\00:14:36.00 So we have an application 00:14:36.04\00:14:37.61 and it requires signatures of the union, 00:14:37.64\00:14:39.84 and the conference, and the local pastors, etcetera 00:14:39.87\00:14:42.24 to show that we're all gonna be working together. 00:14:42.28\00:14:45.31 And then that gets vetted out and made sure that, 00:14:45.35\00:14:48.15 that there's appropriate resources etcetera 00:14:48.18\00:14:50.22 for that vicinity and that's how we proceed. 00:14:50.25\00:14:52.22 I see. 00:14:52.25\00:14:53.59 So the local church in a given area, 00:14:53.62\00:14:56.09 they make the application to you? I've got to be a part of this. 00:30:47.78\00:30:49.71 How do I sign up?" 00:30:49.74\00:30:51.08 When she said that, there was a volunteer working the booth 00:30:51.11\00:30:53.48 because everybody at the booth was a volunteer, 00:30:53.52\00:30:55.05 we just send out an email to our volunteers 00:30:55.08\00:30:56.92 and people flew in from around the country 00:30:56.95\00:30:58.29 just to man the booth. 00:30:58.32\00:30:59.65 They were so excited about what they had experienced. 00:30:59.69\00:31:01.76 So a woman who was at the booth volunteering, 00:31:01.79\00:31:04.59 heard what the woman said, and said, "It's true. 00:31:04.63\00:31:07.40 It's changed my life completely." 00:31:07.43\00:31:08.96 She said, "I've been on mission trips in Costa Rica. 00:31:09.00\00:31:11.43 I've been to Central America, South America. 00:31:11.47\00:31:13.27 I've been to Africa. 00:31:13.30\00:31:14.64 Nothing has impacted me more 00:31:14.67\00:31:16.91 in any of my previous experiences 00:31:16.94\00:31:19.14 as what this event in San Antonio did. 00:31:19.17\00:31:21.68 It's changed my life forever and I'm going to, 00:31:21.71\00:31:23.88 I'm going to keep going on these things." 00:31:23.91\00:31:25.25 Yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:31:25.28\00:31:26.61 And I think as far as the church, 00:31:26.65\00:31:28.08 you said collectively, as far as the church 00:31:28.12\00:31:30.25 it's, kind of, volunteers excited, 00:31:30.29\00:31:32.85 but what that has done to our church at large, 00:31:32.89\00:31:36.89 is I think there's this excitement and this movement. 00:31:36.93\00:31:40.36 I just came from General Conference Annual Council. 00:31:40.40\00:31:42.83 An overwhelming excitement 00:31:42.86\00:31:44.97 about what God is going to do through health ministry. 00:31:45.00\00:31:48.87 The very things that He's told us about all along 00:31:48.90\00:31:51.21 and it's so wonderful that we have this awesome, 00:31:51.24\00:31:54.04 collaborative endeavor between the North American division, 00:31:54.08\00:31:57.31 General Council Health Ministries department. 00:31:57.35\00:31:59.71 Elder Wilson has comprehensive health ministry, 00:31:59.75\00:32:01.72 he and Peter Landless. 00:32:01.75\00:32:03.08 Wonderful, as we all worked together. 00:32:03.12\00:32:05.75 Every member involved in that. Total member involvement. 00:32:07.76\00:32:09.22 But I think this statement in it of itself, kind of, 00:32:09.26\00:32:12.53 explains why I think that church is getting so excited. 00:32:12.56\00:32:16.40 This is a statement from the Spokane tribune 00:32:16.43\00:32:18.67 and it says, "I want to send a thank you 00:32:18.70\00:32:21.30 and kudos to the Seventh-day Adventist church." 00:32:21.34\00:32:23.77 This is not any of us, right? 00:32:23.81\00:32:25.97 This is God's Seventh-day Adventist people 00:32:26.01\00:32:28.14 doing what He's told us to do, right? 00:32:28.18\00:32:31.18 He says, "Their members came from all over the world 00:32:31.21\00:32:35.18 to enrich Spokane, socially and physically. 00:32:35.22\00:32:38.75 I had already had a high opinion of their people 00:32:38.79\00:32:41.02 for the lifestyle they led. 00:32:41.06\00:32:42.82 The Your Best Pathway to Health clinically 00:32:42.86\00:32:45.09 simply raises their status in my eyes," Spokane Tribune. 00:32:45.13\00:32:50.27 Well done, and well said. 00:32:50.30\00:32:52.13 And I think that, that raising of the bar 00:32:52.17\00:32:56.64 as far as identification of the church 00:32:56.67\00:32:59.01 and identifying the church 00:32:59.04\00:33:00.38 as people who care about heaven, 00:33:00.41\00:33:02.14 but also care about you here and now, 00:33:02.18\00:33:04.65 and positioned themselves to do that 00:33:04.68\00:33:06.51 and to better their communities is almost thanks enough, 00:33:06.55\00:33:10.72 is almost payment enough that people are saying, 00:33:10.75\00:33:12.72 "Hey, people just don't do this kind of thing", you know. 00:33:12.75\00:33:15.76 Yeah, "I want to be a part of something 00:33:15.79\00:33:17.13 that's part of that." 00:33:17.16\00:33:18.49 And you also C.A., the other thing that I see is, 00:33:18.53\00:33:20.80 you know how, um, in The Writings of Sister White, 00:33:20.83\00:33:23.06 actually, we were just reading it this morning 00:33:23.10\00:33:24.63 on Counsels and Health 00:33:24.67\00:33:26.00 that when we as Seventh-day Adventist 00:33:26.03\00:33:28.34 do what the Lord has commissioned us to do, 00:33:28.37\00:33:30.37 all the way back in Isaiah 58. 00:33:30.41\00:33:32.51 And we do God's ministry, health ministry, 00:33:32.54\00:33:35.48 but we do it the right way, 00:33:35.51\00:33:37.51 that the people in the world will notice our genuineness 00:33:37.55\00:33:41.05 and they will give to support the cause, financially give. 00:33:41.08\00:33:45.82 We've seen that in every city we've gone to. Wow. 00:33:45.85\00:33:48.16 We saw that in San Francisco, 00:33:48.19\00:33:49.82 the city paid for the advertising. 00:33:49.86\00:33:51.53 We saw that in Oakland. 00:33:51.56\00:33:52.89 We saw that significantly in San Antonio. 00:33:52.93\00:33:55.56 We received the Alamodome 00:33:55.60\00:33:56.93 and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center 00:33:56.97\00:33:58.67 completely for free and they helped with the media. 00:33:58.70\00:34:01.27 Spokane again, the same thing, over and over again. 00:34:01.30\00:34:05.37 God fulfilling His promises to us 00:34:05.41\00:34:07.68 when we do what he's asked us to do, 00:34:07.71\00:34:09.54 which is just be His hands and feet. 00:34:09.58\00:34:11.51 Yeah, this is so exciting. 00:34:11.55\00:34:12.88 And God will use the money of the gentiles too, 00:34:12.91\00:34:15.65 um, you know, to get the work done. 00:34:15.68\00:34:17.65 But that doesn't excuse those of us who name, 00:34:17.69\00:34:20.19 in the name of Jesus also, 00:34:20.22\00:34:21.56 you know, to put a little bean in a pot and add, 00:34:21.59\00:34:25.43 because it does take money to do this kind of thing. 00:34:25.46\00:34:27.76 There's a lot of people's going in to their own pockets. 00:34:27.80\00:34:30.00 As you well know, to come, to give of their care, 00:34:30.03\00:34:32.93 but there are some things that has to paid for. 00:34:32.97\00:34:35.30 There are some machinery that has to be gotten, 00:34:35.34\00:34:37.24 a lot of things that have to done, 00:34:37.27\00:34:38.61 it's gonna take money to do it. 00:34:38.64\00:34:39.97 And what better way to spend your dime 00:34:40.01\00:34:43.04 in active missionary work locally. 00:34:43.08\00:34:46.01 I've done a number of mission trips abroad but, 00:34:46.05\00:34:50.39 and have enjoyed them and felt the spirit of God, 00:34:50.42\00:34:52.59 but this is a whole new, this is something different. 00:34:52.62\00:34:55.56 It's, you know, that the, you struggle for words, 00:34:55.59\00:34:58.66 but there's something going on here 00:34:58.69\00:35:00.43 that is really a move of God. 00:35:00.46\00:35:02.56 Now, before our time gets away, give me the dates for LA again. 00:35:02.60\00:35:07.77 Go ahead. Yes, yes. 00:40:09.00\00:40:10.41 Someone from London played that interview. 00:40:10.44\00:40:12.67 Well, you know, you heard how he mentioned 00:40:12.71\00:40:14.51 what we did in San Antonio. 00:40:14.54\00:40:16.51 And the talk show host was just like, 00:40:16.54\00:40:18.21 you got to be kidding, really? 00:40:18.25\00:40:19.88 And he's like, no, he want to get across as we do, 00:40:19.91\00:40:23.18 that this is what Seventh-Day Adventists stand for, 00:40:23.22\00:40:26.42 this is what we believe being the hands and feet of Jesus. 00:40:26.45\00:40:31.09 Who can turn us down? 00:40:31.13\00:40:33.93 Who can turn the lord down? Who can turn the lord down? 00:40:33.96\00:40:35.83 Right, yeah, I'm just thinking, 00:40:35.86\00:40:37.60 we saw in the video 00:40:42.40\00:40:44.77 how big the San Antonio center was, 00:40:44.81\00:40:49.24 and used up all the floor space, 00:40:49.28\00:40:51.71 you had to scale back a little for Spokane, 00:40:51.75\00:40:53.35 because it's a smaller town. 00:40:53.38\00:40:55.38 And now LA is several times larger than San Antonio. 00:40:55.42\00:41:01.22 Will you use all of that space? 00:41:01.26\00:41:02.89 Do you expand to, kind of, meet your space? 00:41:02.92\00:41:05.03 Every square inch and in fact we're trying, 00:41:05.06\00:41:07.46 we're little nervous 00:41:07.50\00:41:08.83 because we only have 400,000 square feet. 00:41:08.86\00:41:11.90 So yes, we intend to use every square inch of it. 00:41:11.93\00:41:18.57 And by God's grace, 00:41:18.61\00:41:20.11 if we can really hit this number of volunteers, C.A., 00:41:20.14\00:41:23.18 if we can hit 4,000, 00:41:23.21\00:41:25.31 we're publicizing to the government officials, 00:41:25.35\00:41:27.88 our goal is 10,000 patients in three days, by God's grace, 00:41:27.92\00:41:32.02 I think we can hit 12,000 easily. 00:41:32.05\00:41:35.02 And I think it's closer to 40 million dollars 00:41:35.06\00:41:37.59 of free health care, we're publicizing 20, 00:41:37.63\00:41:39.73 but I think, if by God's grace, 00:41:39.76\00:41:41.63 we can get this volunteers to come in, 00:41:41.66\00:41:43.83 I think we can provide close to 00:41:43.87\00:41:45.40 40 million dollars of free health care. 00:41:45.43\00:41:48.17 Let me ask you, because when one thinks of doctors, 00:41:48.20\00:41:52.51 you think of people who are very focused, 00:41:52.54\00:41:54.31 maybe left brain people, who are... 00:41:54.34\00:41:57.75 Who've been given a gift and they practice the gift. 00:41:57.78\00:42:01.58 You don't think of the most particularly jocular people 00:42:01.62\00:42:04.65 or even emotional people and yet, 00:42:04.69\00:42:07.02 I know you've had some strong testimonies 00:42:07.06\00:42:09.59 from your medical personnel, 00:42:09.62\00:42:12.46 after they spent some time volunteering their services. 00:42:12.49\00:42:15.66 Then of course you have one guy, 00:42:15.70\00:42:17.03 seems like he brought his whole clinic or his whole lab, 00:42:17.07\00:42:18.83 that kind of thing. 00:42:18.87\00:42:20.20 So there is really a strong spiritual legacy 00:42:20.24\00:42:23.24 in the lives of those who are professionals, 00:42:23.27\00:42:26.41 but who I saw in one thing and I am talking about it, 00:42:26.44\00:42:29.28 but I'm trying to set this up, who said, 00:42:29.31\00:42:30.85 we don't get to pray in our practice, normally, 00:42:30.88\00:42:35.08 but I'm praying with everybody here 00:42:35.12\00:42:36.45 and its just so exciting for me. 00:42:36.48\00:42:37.82 So I will say there's a strong spiritual benefit 00:42:37.85\00:42:40.46 for those practitioners also, is there not? 00:42:40.49\00:42:43.12 Yes, we had one dentist that came to the event 00:42:43.16\00:42:46.23 and when she left, she said, I've been dentist for 35 years 00:42:46.26\00:42:51.37 and never prayed with the patients, 00:42:51.40\00:42:52.73 just like you said, 00:42:52.77\00:42:54.10 I'm going home to make up for lost time. 00:42:54.14\00:42:56.54 It's the, the culture of the event is such that, 00:42:56.57\00:43:00.48 in a loving way, to share Christ. 00:43:00.51\00:43:05.05 Now, you know, nobody is getting hit 00:43:05.08\00:43:06.75 over the head with anything but you know what? 00:43:06.78\00:43:08.58 You don't have to hit anybody over the head, 00:43:08.62\00:43:10.22 when you're sharing with people in such a loving way, 00:43:10.25\00:43:12.99 when they've already met a loving person at registration 00:43:13.02\00:43:15.59 a loving person that walked them around 00:43:15.62\00:43:17.23 and introduced them-self to them. 00:43:17.26\00:43:18.59 And a loving nurse that checked them in. 00:43:18.63\00:43:20.40 And then by the time I get to, like cut something off of them, 00:43:20.43\00:43:24.10 they are asking me questions, 00:43:24.13\00:43:25.50 like they ask a question, and my nurse and I, kind of, 00:43:25.53\00:43:28.90 looked at each other, had a patient there 00:43:28.94\00:43:30.44 and she had like four things she wanted to remove, 00:43:30.47\00:43:32.01 she couldn't afford to have it done, 00:43:32.04\00:43:33.38 she has a job, she has children, 00:43:33.41\00:43:34.74 she's trying to make ends meet, 00:43:34.78\00:43:36.11 but she has no insurance. 00:43:36.14\00:43:37.48 So we're there taking care of her. 00:43:37.51\00:43:39.15 And she looks up and she says, why you are guys doing this? 00:43:39.18\00:43:42.58 And I looked at the nurse, the nurse looked at me, 00:43:42.62\00:43:44.75 I was like go ahead. So she was waiting. 00:43:44.79\00:43:49.52 She launches off, 00:43:49.56\00:43:50.89 in sharing Christ with this lady. 00:43:50.93\00:43:52.99 And you could just see, 00:43:53.03\00:43:54.36 she just soaked it up like a sponge. 00:43:54.40\00:43:57.00 It was just so amazing. 00:43:57.03\00:43:58.37 And that's exactly what happened with Todd, 00:43:58.40\00:44:00.57 you know, I don't know if our computer-- 00:44:00.60\00:44:03.10 Oh, he's got a couple of pictures, yeah. 00:44:03.14\00:44:04.47 A couple of pictures out, 00:44:04.51\00:44:05.84 but Todd did the exact same thing, 00:44:05.87\00:44:07.21 he came in, he actually came for dental work 00:44:07.24\00:44:10.05 and for medical work, he didn't have any insurance. 00:44:10.08\00:44:12.91 And this is Todd when he first showed up. 00:44:12.95\00:44:14.78 Under that shock of hair. 00:44:14.82\00:44:16.72 Yeah, under that amount of hair and he showed up. 00:44:16.75\00:44:20.49 And he, just like Chris said, he came in through the door, 00:44:20.52\00:44:22.82 the registration people showed him love. 00:44:22.86\00:44:25.19 He then when to the nurses and triage, 00:44:25.23\00:44:27.26 they showed him love, and gentleness, and kindness. 00:44:27.30\00:44:29.63 He went to the dentist, 00:44:29.66\00:44:31.10 they again, they prayed with him, 00:44:31.13\00:44:33.07 they showed him love, they fixed his hurting tooth. 00:44:33.10\00:44:35.50 He went and saw the primary care doctor, 00:44:35.54\00:44:37.27 hadn't seen a doctor in over five years, 00:44:37.31\00:44:39.07 they helped him, again prayed with him. 00:44:39.11\00:44:40.98 By that time, he went over, he found out, 00:44:41.01\00:44:43.21 we were offering free men's suits, 00:44:43.24\00:44:45.51 he went to the men's suits department, 00:44:45.55\00:44:48.28 he got into men's suits, and brother Sam there, 00:44:48.32\00:44:51.09 who was like fitting him up for his perfect suit. 00:44:51.12\00:44:53.72 And all of a sudden Todd says, 00:44:53.76\00:44:55.59 you know, he says, I felt Jesus, 00:44:55.62\00:44:58.03 it's just tears streaming down his cheeks. 00:44:58.06\00:45:00.23 He said, I feel Jesus calling me, 00:45:00.26\00:45:02.23 calling me to give my heart to him, 00:45:02.26\00:45:04.33 what do I have to do? 00:45:04.37\00:45:06.63 And Sam being a lay pastor himself, 00:45:06.67\00:45:09.47 he immediately says, 00:45:09.50\00:45:11.41 you just give your heart to Jesus, 00:45:11.44\00:45:13.41 and he takes him over to the chaplains, 00:45:13.44\00:45:15.01 the chaplains talk to him. 00:45:15.04\00:45:16.38 He ends up walking over and getting a haircut, 00:45:16.41\00:45:18.55 walks back to chaplaincy services and says, okay, 00:45:18.58\00:45:21.15 I'm ready to be baptized, 00:45:21.18\00:45:22.52 what do I have to do to be saved? 00:45:22.55\00:45:25.65 That is fabulous.
