00:07 Mending broken people 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Removing pain 00:23 Lord, let my words 00:29 Heal a heart that hurts 00:34 I want to spend my life 00:40 Mending broken people 00:45 I want to spend my life 00:51 Mending broken people 01:07 Hello, thank you for joining us on 3ABN Today. 01:10 We want you to know that Jesus loves you, 01:12 He died for you, He made a plan of salvation for you 01:15 and He is coming back very soon in the clouds of glory. 01:19 Ain't that amazing that God gives us a gift 01:22 and that gift is salvation? 01:23 Fallen men have no business inheriting heaven 01:29 and yet God has given it to us. 01:32 I don't know about you but I've decided 01:33 heaven is for me, right? 01:35 And I hope that you have decided heaven is for you 01:38 and to sing about that, 01:39 we'll introduce them formally a little bit more, 01:42 formally a little bit later on. 01:43 But we have the Lanny Wolfe Trio here 01:46 and I know you're saying 01:47 "who, the Lanny Wolfe Trio, praise the Lord." 01:50 Absolutely incredible singers, musicians, song writers 01:53 and people who love Jesus 01:55 with all their heart, soul and mind. 01:57 And I ask them just to go ahead and start this program 01:59 by standing at the piano singing "Heaven for me". 02:06 Well, I've heard of a land that 02:12 It's wondrously fair 02:17 They say that its splendor 02:22 Is far beyond compare 02:26 In that place That's called "heaven" 02:32 My soul longs to be 02:37 For where Jesus is 02:41 It will be heaven for me 02:47 Heaven for me 02:52 Heaven for me 02:57 Jesus will be 03:00 What makes it heaven for me 03:06 All its beauty and wonders 03:11 I'm longing to see 03:15 But Jesus will be 03:19 What makes it heaven for me 03:27 Now if walls there weren't jasper 03:33 And if streets were not gold 03:38 If mansions would crumble 03:43 And if folks there grew old 03:48 Still I'd see everything 03:53 I've been longing to see 03:58 For if Jesus is there 04:03 It will be heaven for me 04:09 Heaven for me 04:13 Heaven for me 04:18 Jesus will be 04:22 What makes it heaven for me 04:27 All its beauty and wonders 04:32 I'm longing to see 04:37 But Jesus will be 04:41 What makes it heaven for me 04:47 Jesus will be 04:50 What makes it heaven for me 04:56 Jesus will be 05:00 What makes it heaven for me 05:06 Heaven for me 05:16 Amen. Praise the Lord. 05:18 Heaven for me. 05:19 I don't know about you 05:20 but I have been so blessed by the music 05:23 of Brother Lanny Wolfe over the years. 05:25 And I think we started singing, 05:26 I don't know how long he's been writing 05:28 but I know my family started singing his songs back 05:31 at least in the '70s sometime. 05:33 And what a privilege it is to have 05:35 the Lanny Wolfe Trio here today. 05:38 And we have Mr. Lanny Wolfe and we have Marietta, 05:40 we've got Dave. 05:41 So we got the whole group here. 05:43 I was a little hesitant to ask you for a long time. 05:47 But when we were down at Larry Goss's. 05:51 Some people call it home party, some call it funeral, 05:53 whatever we were there and we met and we've talked. 05:56 And, so Melody said, 05:57 "Dad, there's Lanny Wolfe over there." 06:00 And I said, "Yeah." 06:01 She said, "Lanny Wolfe over there." 06:03 And so Melody says, you know, 06:05 she grew up with you guys singing. 06:07 Marietta, she looks up to you and she was so thrilled. 06:11 Lanny came a few weeks ago. 06:13 Then when you came she's like, "Dad, this is so real. 06:17 I got to meet Marietta Wolfe." 06:19 She says, "This is so, so amazing to meet Marietta." 06:22 All my life, she said I've heard her sing 06:25 and now I get to. 06:26 So she's fallen in love with you already. 06:29 And so we're glad that you're here. 06:30 Dave, where are you from? 06:32 Well, Danny, I'm originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota. 06:36 Minnesota. I would say so. 06:38 But now we're living in Indianapolis, Indiana. 06:41 Okay. Yeah. 06:42 All right, that's only about four hours north 06:44 or so if you are here. 06:45 Now what do you do when you're not singing? 06:47 Let me a little bit about you, Dave. 06:48 Well, when I'm not with the Trio 06:50 I travel alone and I go all over the country 06:53 singing at different churches and ministering. 06:55 Okay. Well, praise the Lord. 06:57 And how long you've been singing with the Trio. 07:00 Well, I started 43 years ago. 07:03 What? 07:05 Don't tell anybody. No. 07:07 We just never check those figures. 07:08 Whatever you're doing you've done it right. 07:10 You don't look near old enough to-- 07:11 Oh, thank you, Danny. 07:13 And with the Trio for that long unless you of course, 07:15 you start as a little baby, right? 07:16 Tell me again. 07:17 Okay. All right. 07:19 Marietta, tell me a little bit about yourself. 07:21 Did you grow up in a Christian home? 07:23 I certainly did. 07:24 I had a wonderful mother and father 07:26 who taught me the right things. 07:29 And I give God all the glory for that. 07:32 I always loved to sing. 07:34 And my mother told me 07:36 if I didn't that the Lord would take my talent away so. 07:39 I just sang as many times as I could, 07:42 the first solo I remember doing was 07:43 when I was about 6 years old and I sang that old song, 07:48 "One sat alone beside the highway begging". 07:52 It was a hard song but-- You were 6 years old. 07:55 But I loved it, I-- I thought it was so pretty. 07:57 So that was my first-- Were you folks musical at all? 08:01 My mother played the piano by note and that. 08:03 And my dad would sing tenor. 08:06 Whenever we just gather around the piano at home. 08:08 Yeah, I love your voice. 08:10 You're not only great singer but there's an anointing. 08:14 And that's what I always look for in people. 08:17 And there's a real-- Melody said, 08:20 she's just like I always thought 08:21 she would be when you spend time and we-- 08:23 That we'll spend a little time together 08:25 and eat together and talk. 08:27 And it's like we can be of different face. 08:29 Now what's your church background? 08:31 What are you-- would you say? 08:34 Pentecostal. Pentecostal. 08:35 Apostolic. Apostolic background. 08:37 How about you, Dave? Same thing. 08:39 Same thing. Apostolic. Pentecostal. 08:41 And Lanny? Same thing. 08:42 Same thing. All right. 08:43 So Pentecostal, apostolic background. 08:47 And so we can be of different face 08:49 and yet we still share something in common. 08:51 Amen. All right. 08:53 We were brought with the love God 08:54 That's Jesus, right? Thank the Lord. 08:56 And He commissioned to "go ye into all the world." 08:58 All the world. 08:59 And I've said it many times 09:01 and I've said it behind your backs, 09:03 sometimes I talk behind your back. 09:05 I've said, Lanny was my favorite song writer. 09:08 And so that's only the bad thing 09:09 you hear me say behind your back. 09:11 But my favorite song writer and I uplifted Jesus in you 09:16 but something about your music that makes you stop and think. 09:20 It's not-- and I like all kinds of songs 09:22 and I like some up tempo songs and you do some of those too. 09:25 What we call fun songs. 09:27 But your songs ministered to me, 09:30 "Whatever it takes from my will to break", 09:32 "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place". 09:35 And as we go down, the list of these songs, its-- 09:40 I can't really explain it Lanny, 09:41 other than I think when your music is on, 09:45 I can't do other things. 09:46 A lot of times, I'll multitask but when I hear songs like 09:50 "Whatever it takes" I have to stop. 09:52 And listen because it goes right to the heart. 09:55 And so God has used you tremendously. 09:57 You've written probably what, 10 or 20 songs in your life? 10:02 At least 10 or 20, yes. 10:04 700, right? 10:05 714 musicals, yes. 10:07 Okay. You started writing music? 10:10 When I was about 17. 10:13 Oh, 17. 10:14 Yes, and I didn't grow up wanting to be a songwriter. 10:18 I for a long time I wasn't quite sure 10:21 what I was going to do as a vocation. 10:24 Started out in architectural engineering 10:26 in RSA University, switched to business education, 10:30 got a Masters in Business Administration. 10:32 Major in Personnel Management, Minor in Finance. 10:35 Education-- Oh, my, my... 10:37 Administration and it's like-- 10:38 I'm getting dizzy already. 10:40 You know, I was dizzy but it was after all of that, 10:42 after 7 years God called me up 10:45 and said I really had something different in mind. 10:49 And I really wanted to say, 10:51 why could you have called me little sooner. 10:53 And well I really tried to call you, 10:55 you were so busy doing your thing. 10:58 So basically He said you know, I want you to write music 11:00 and I want you to teach music to young people. 11:03 So I went to back to school, 7 more years. 11:08 First degree in music from San Jose State University. 11:11 And second degree in music, 11:13 Masters from Southern Illinois University. 11:15 All right. 11:16 And that was basically 700 songs ago. 11:20 But the conclusion of all of that is simply 11:23 that life is too short not to find your passion 11:28 and not to follow your passion. 11:30 And if you are following your passion 11:33 then as one person had said, 11:36 "I've never worked a day in my life." 11:38 It's just a joy when I think that 11:41 God has allowed me to architect songs 11:44 for His glory rather than buildings. 11:46 Absolutely. Where were you born and raised? 11:49 I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. 11:51 Columbus, okay. Columbus, Ohio. 11:52 It snows there too. 11:55 You spend a lot of years down in Mississippi. 11:58 18 years in Mississippi. 12:00 It was-- Columbus, Ohio 12:02 to California for a couple of years. 12:05 St. Louis, Missouri for 6 years. 12:08 Jackson, Mississippi for 18 years. 12:11 And now I reside in Houston, Texas. 12:12 And what did you do in Jackson? 12:14 Jackson, I was dean in the school music 12:16 Jackson College Ministry Trained a lot of young people 12:20 to be ministers of music songwriters. 12:23 Some folks maybe familiar. 12:24 There's-- if I start naming names 12:26 I'm gonna get in trouble real fast. 12:28 Some of my students Geron Davis, Vicki Yohe. 12:31 Holy ground. Holy ground. 12:33 Vicki Yohe Dan Dean and Phillips, Craig and Dean. 12:36 Wow. Okay. 12:37 Vicki Lopez who sings with Kurt Carr singers, just-- 12:42 It's on and on and on, way too many to-- 12:46 I'm gonna get in big trouble here. 12:47 Because all these students saying, 12:49 "Wait a minute, you didn't mention me." 12:50 But it's been really exciting to see 12:53 what students that I've trained who are writing songs 12:57 that I would never have written. 12:59 That's the wonderful aspect of being a teacher. 13:01 I can imagine Marietta and Dave, 13:03 how tough a teacher he was because I'm not a student 13:06 and I wrote a song and he said, 13:08 "Hey, next time you write a song 13:09 before you record it let me-- " 13:12 Oh, I did, I did. I did. But I liked it. 13:16 So I said "Okay, as long as you don't charge me too much." 13:18 I said, "Okay." 13:20 I know when to tip my head off and as I said I respect you, 13:24 your music so much. 13:25 And when you were, 13:26 I know this when you were in Mississippi, 13:28 you guys would come up to the Trio, 13:30 I think Herrin, Illinois. 13:32 There's a church over there. 13:33 And as my daughter somehow would find out, 13:35 I don't know she was 9 or 10 years old. 13:37 And she would say, "Dad, the Lanny Wolfe Trio 13:39 is gonna be over in Herrin, can we go?" 13:42 What are you gonna say if your little girl 13:44 wants to hear a gospel music, you're gonna go. 13:47 And I always enjoyed it. 13:48 And so again we learn from you and got your songbooks 13:50 and then Lisa, her sisters, she learned to play from that. 13:54 Everybody around here, E.T. Everett, 13:56 She says, "Oh, I've played all the Lanny Wolfe songs 13:59 and learned from them so. 14:01 Probably most of you at home are saying the same thing. 14:04 Well, what are we gonna do, 14:05 we're gonna use you as much as we can here today. 14:07 At least get 4, 5, 6 songs. 14:08 I'm gonna ask you to get ready to sing. 14:11 Well, next song we're gonna do 14:13 is "Jesus be the Lord of all." 14:15 Before you do, give me a little story on it. 14:18 I was sitting at the piano in Jackson, Mississippi. 14:21 A Sunday morning and it's probably about 9:30 14:24 getting ready to start the service. 14:25 And God just dropped this into my head. 14:29 "Jesus be the Lord of all, the kingdoms up my heart." 14:33 It was God because Lanny Wolfe 14:35 doesn't think that way, kingdoms up my heart. 14:38 So that was the inspiration for the song. 14:41 However-- 14:43 As we were on our way to sing at a church 14:46 in another state, we're sitting there on a plane 14:50 and Lanny said, "I've got this song 14:52 that the Lord's given me but I can't get into it. 14:55 I need you to help me with the first verse." 14:58 And so there on the plan 14:59 the Lord dropped the words in my mind 15:03 and so what you will hear in the first verse 15:06 is the one that God helped me to write. 15:09 I don't write a lot of songs 15:10 but there were several lines here and there 15:13 but that was a whole verse. 15:14 And I thank the Lord 15:16 because of it the song has been such a blessing. 15:18 And it's one of those commitment songs 15:21 where we give ourselves to the Lord, a fresh 15:24 and that's the best kind as far as I'm concerned. 15:27 But I wrote the second verse. 15:29 You wrote the second verse. 15:31 I wrote the second verse to save the song. 15:33 No, you didn't, the Lord wrote it to you, didn't He? 15:36 That's right. You said he did. 15:38 She wrote a great first verse. 15:39 Yeah. Absolutely. 15:41 Hope you guys don't mind get ready to sing that for us. 15:43 I want to talk to the audience. 15:44 In a little bit get ready with your pencil and paper, 15:47 we're gonna put up their address. 15:49 And please write them, call them 15:52 and let them know first of all 15:54 how much you love and appreciate the music, 15:56 how you've been blessed by them, share testimonies. 15:59 Well, they wouldn't mind getting some of those at all. 16:01 And whatever product they had numerous projects 16:05 they've done over the years. 16:06 So all that will be available. 16:08 So we just want you to get ready right now 16:10 with your pencil and paper. 16:11 I have a few of these in my hands right now 16:13 and they bring back memories, 16:15 some of these go back to the '80s and '90s 16:17 and of course, some of music and the arrangements by 16:20 none other than Larry Goss, incredible. 16:23 And I know that you're gonna be blessed 16:25 and this song too "Jesus be the Lord of all." 16:39 In my heart are kingdoms 16:43 Of a world that's all my own 16:49 Kingdoms that are only seen 16:54 By myself and God alone 16:59 In the past when I tried to rule my world 17:05 It just seemed to fall apart 17:10 So please Jesus 17:14 Be the Lord of all 17:19 The kingdoms of my heart 17:26 Jesus be the Lord of all 17:32 Jesus be the Lord of all 17:39 Jesus be the Lord of all 17:45 The kingdoms of my heart 17:56 I guess I only fool myself 18:00 For I said I have yielded all 18:05 But in a secret corner of my heart 18:09 Was a kingdom that did not fall 18:14 But I surrender now 18:18 Make my heart your throne 18:21 Rule its kingdoms 18:24 Great and small 18:28 For if You're not Lord of everything 18:35 Then You're not Lord at all 18:43 Jesus be the Lord of all 18:50 Jesus be the Lord of all 18:56 Jesus be the Lord of all 19:03 The kingdoms of my heart 19:10 Jesus I surrender all 19:17 Jesus I surrender all 19:23 Jesus I surrender all 19:29 The kingdoms of my heart 19:35 For if You're not Lord of everything 19:42 Then You're not Lord at all 20:01 Amen, praise the Lord. That's a two hander, right? 20:04 So that's absolutely a two hander 20:05 but when you think about it 20:08 and I thought about this years ago, 20:09 there are kingdoms in our heart, 20:11 we say, well, I surrender to the Lord but do we really? 20:14 There are areas in our heart 20:15 that if we don't surrender to the Lord 20:18 we're still not totally under His control. 20:20 And I think that's most of us, most of the time 20:22 that this song really speaks to that. 20:25 You know, do I really want to serve the Lord 20:27 and am I willing to serve Him all the way, 20:30 not just part of the way, all the way. 20:32 But when we do God wants to work in you 20:35 and through you. 20:36 He wants to work mightily. 20:38 Anyways, I mean, I think of people like little David 20:40 who came to the Goliath. 20:42 You know, here he had what did he have a sling shot 20:44 and five stones. 20:46 And everybody around him said, 20:47 "You can't do that, you can't do this." 20:49 But he said, "No, I come in the name of the Lord." 20:52 And if we're gonna be effective ministers and witnesses 20:55 we have to come in the name of the Lord, 20:57 you got to surrender all these kingdoms of our heart. 20:59 I hope you do that today. 21:01 I do it in my life and I'm just telling you, 21:03 you won't be happier, 21:05 the happiest time of your life will be 21:07 when you totally surrender your heart to Jesus. 21:09 Some people say, "I'm not gonna be all tied up. 21:13 You Christians are in prison," No, we're set free. 21:15 Right. We've been set free. 21:17 And so thank you, Lanny and Marietta 21:19 for this beautiful song, "Jesus be the Lord of all." 21:22 Absolutely incredible. 21:24 Thank you, Jesus. 21:25 The next song we're gonna do 21:27 is "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place." 21:30 Now I don't know when you wrote this one. 21:32 But this song I've sing it probably this 21:36 and "Whatever it takes". 21:37 Maybe as much and more than any songs that you've written. 21:41 And I never get tired of it and our audience seems to-- 21:44 when we go we used to, we travel more than we do, 21:46 we're traveling churches. 21:47 Everywhere we go people say would you sing, 21:49 "Surely the presence of the Lord." 21:51 Would you sing, "Whatever it takes." 21:53 Tell me, "Surely the presence of the Lord." 21:55 Actually the song is about 40 years old. 21:58 We were at a church dedication, Columbia, Mississippi. 22:03 Fresh paint, the mayor was there, 22:04 all the important people were there. 22:06 And the Trio was the invited guest to sing. 22:11 And before they call on the Trio to sing, 22:14 the Lord just drops this into my mind and my spirit. 22:19 And what was strange to me was the fact that 22:22 what I was hearing in my head had a progression 22:25 that I was not used to using. 22:27 And so I wasn't quite sure how to get to it. 22:32 I really wanted to run off the platform 22:34 and go find some room and just work it out 22:36 but I didn't have time. 22:38 So I got up, they called on the Trio 22:40 and Marietta and Dave got up and I started. 22:43 I said the Lord just has given me a chorus 22:45 and I wanted to teach it to Trio and the congregation. 22:49 And when it came time for that progression 22:51 that I wasn't really used to, it's like it just came 22:55 and it was right, it was just right. 22:58 And so the chorus was born that day. 23:02 A few years later somebody told me 23:07 that they found the original piece of paper 23:09 that I scratched the words on. 23:11 It was in the piano bench. 23:13 And so now they've put that 23:15 original piece of paper in the vestibule. 23:18 And I've tried so hard, I said, 23:21 "Can we just swap that out, nobody will-- 23:23 Nobody has to know I'll make a carbon copy, 23:26 will slip it in." 23:27 I hate to think that I have to send 23:29 some of my people down there 23:30 in the middle of the night to break in the church. 23:33 But the amazing thing about the song is what, 23:34 it was birth at a church dedication. 23:37 But since that time the Lord gave me two verses, 23:42 it being sung at baby dedications, funerals. 23:46 Weddings. Church services, weddings. 23:49 A record producer, a friend of mine Darryl Bledsoe 23:52 was with a gospel group for the Benson company. 23:56 And they were visiting a Dr. Cho's church in Korea. 24:01 And a small church about a million people, 24:04 11 services on Sunday, each over a hundred thousand. 24:08 And he said they were sitting there 24:10 and the church starts singing "Surely the presence." 24:13 In language-- 24:14 they were in all kinds of languages around it. 24:17 He said it was so heavenly 24:20 and you know, I'm so humbled 24:27 to think that God would pass this through my writing pen, 24:31 such that it would be used 24:33 for so many different occasions. 24:35 There's something about it that just ushers you 24:38 in to the presence of God. 24:40 Surely the presence of the Lord is experienced. 24:43 Can't wait to hear while you're all getting ready. 24:45 My little story on that now I speak English 24:47 and don't do that too well speak American actually. 24:50 Don't do that too well, but I was in Brazil 24:54 and then I think Argentina. 24:56 Years ago and we'd gone up to Brazil. 24:59 And they said it's gonna be a lot of young people. 25:01 I didn't know what to expect, 25:03 there was this huge football stadium. 25:04 Not only were all the seats full 25:06 but they had thousands of young people 25:09 literally on the ground 25:11 where you normally you'd be playing. 25:12 They were standing up shoulder to shoulder. 25:14 Had this long ramp 25:16 and it had a circle at the end of it. 25:19 So I was getting ready to go out, 25:21 they introduced me and I couldn't understand 25:23 the Portuguese what they were saying. 25:25 And the translator I heard him say something and my name. 25:29 And the translator-- I said, "What did he say?" 25:31 He said, they are introducing Danny Shelton 25:33 the greatest singer in all America. 25:35 And I said, oh. 25:37 That's the last thing I want to-- 25:38 I expected, Andy Williams to come walking out. 25:41 Then I saw smoke going up and I said, 25:43 "Oh, oh, there's I think there's a fire." 25:45 Some of them, they say, "No, this is for you." 25:47 We thought you go out in the smoke. 25:48 Well, it's young people, you know, so I said, oh, no. 25:52 But what I had learnt, 25:53 they had taught me to sing in Brazilian. 25:56 Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place. 25:58 And then later in Russia I think I sang it one time now. 26:01 I'm sure I didn't do justice 26:03 but the people loved the fact that you try 26:06 and I was, yes, was I disappointment? 26:08 Of course, I was as far as the singing. 26:10 I had to explain to them, "No, I'm not Andy Williams 26:13 and not any of these folks. 26:14 But I love the Lord and I'm here 26:16 and happy to minister in with you." 26:19 Right now be blessed by Surely the presence 26:21 of the Lord is in this place." 26:35 Surely the presence 26:39 Of the Lord is in this place 26:43 I can feel His mighty power 26:48 And His grace 26:52 I can hear the brush of angel's wings 26:57 I see glory on each face 27:02 Surely the presence 27:06 Of the Lord is in this place 27:13 In the midst of His children 27:18 The Lord said He would be 27:22 It doesn't take very many 27:26 It can be just two or three 27:30 And I feel that same sweet Spirit 27:35 That I've felt of times before 27:41 Oh, surely I can say 27:45 I have been with the Lord 27:50 For surely the presence 27:54 Of the Lord is in this place 27:59 I can feel His mighty power 28:03 And His grace 28:07 I can hear the brush of angel's wings 28:12 I see glory on each face 28:17 Surely the presence 28:21 Of the Lord is in this place 28:28 There's a holy hush around us 28:32 As God's glory fills this place 28:37 I've touched the hem of His garment 28:41 And I can almost see His face 28:47 And my heart is overflowing 28:51 With the fullness of His joy 28:56 Oh, I know without a doubt 29:01 That I've been with the Lord 29:06 For surely the presence 29:10 Of the Lord is in this place 29:15 I can feel His mighty power 29:20 And His grace 29:24 I can hear the brush of angel's wings 29:29 I see glory on each face 29:34 Surely the presence 29:38 Of the Lord is in this place 29:43 Surely the presence 29:48 Of the Lord is in this place 30:04 Amen, praise the Lord. What an anointed song. 30:07 And it'll have to be to me 30:09 I guess it's ministered to me personally, 30:12 maybe more than any song that I've ever sang. 30:15 Sometimes you're traveling 30:17 and I travel lot of places in the world 30:19 and you get tired and people say, 30:21 oh, it's so much fun to travel 30:22 and you get on one airplane and one airport and another one 30:25 and sometimes you take 15 hour flights 30:28 all the way to Australia or whether it's to Russia. 30:31 And you go there, you're tired 30:33 and I've done this before Russia, for instance, 30:36 I'll go there and I'm so tired and just seem like, 30:39 "Man, how am I gonna do it, it's 9 hours ahead 30:41 and we get up, we have these services 30:42 and you walk up and to sing, 30:45 "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place." 30:48 And all of a sudden you just feel that anointing 30:51 and all of a sudden you see the people start responding. 30:54 And you forget about it. 30:55 It literally will take you out of the physical 30:58 and bring you into the spiritual. 31:00 And to me that's what a song is all about. 31:02 That's what I love about Lanny. 31:04 And I've told him the other day. 31:06 I said, "You know, so many songs-- " 31:07 We call them horizontal. 31:08 They are fun and they are nice to sing and they are good. 31:10 But there are certain songs just vertical, 31:12 it takes you right to the throne room. 31:14 And I feel like "Surely the presence of the Lord" 31:17 is one of those. 31:18 Thank you so much for allowing God to use you 31:22 to write that song. 31:23 Dave, have you get tired of singing that song? 31:25 Oh, no, I've sung it almost all my life. 31:29 Marietta? Oh, never. 31:31 The spirit of God comes when you start magnifying Him 31:35 and talking about His presence. 31:37 And it always feels fresh every time you sing it. 31:40 That's when you know it's God. 31:42 Because it does feel fresh 31:44 and that's the same way with me. 31:45 You would think, you know, 31:46 certain things I do quite a few, 31:48 I get tired of lot of things, you know, I like to do, 31:50 I like to go do this for a while 31:52 and I do that now, I'm tired of that. 31:54 But not singing to the Lord and this song is one of those. 31:57 So I just love it so much and your ministry. 32:01 Thank you again. 32:02 The next song, "A brand new touch". 32:05 What's the story behind that? 32:07 I'm not sure if Marietta and Dave remember. 32:10 This was before we had Silver Eagle bus. 32:13 This was the van days. Okay. 32:15 We were riding in the van up the east coast, 32:19 we had a concert at Chesapeake. 32:21 Is it in Virginia? Chesapeake, Virginia. 32:24 And I remember reading an article, 32:26 Marietta was driving 32:27 and I'm just reading the magazine. 32:30 And the magazine it had a picture 32:32 of empty wheelchairs and I think it was throwback 32:36 from the Katherine Kuhlman days. 32:39 And it bothered me when I saw those wheelchairs 32:41 because I thought I've never seen someone 32:44 come out of a wheelchair. 32:46 You know, we talk about healings 32:48 and people getting healed but I thought why haven't 32:51 I seen somebody come out of a wheelchair? 32:53 So we got to Chesapeake, we got set up. 32:57 And I-- I realized that I wasn't feeling well 33:02 and something just came over me. 33:05 I told Marietta, I said, "You know, I don't know 33:08 if I can make it through this service tonight." 33:10 And I said, "If I can make it through this service 33:12 we certainly will go out to eat." 33:14 I started feeling so bad. 33:15 We got into the service and we started to singing 33:18 "God'swonderful people" 33:19 and "Keep falling in love with Him." 33:22 And it didn't dawn on me until after the service 33:27 that I was feeling great. 33:30 God had touched me in the service 33:33 when I was forgetting about myself. 33:35 And I was ministering other people. 33:37 So while I'm ministering other people 33:39 God actually touched me and I'll never forget, 33:42 I went out to eat and ate like a pig. 33:45 I've done upon occasion. 33:48 He likes to eat too. 33:49 Yes, he does. He loves eating. 33:51 Yeah, he enjoys every morsel. Yes, I do. 33:54 And it dawned on me, Jesus really touched me. 33:58 And then I thought that was just as profound 34:02 that God touched me 34:04 as if He pulled me out of a wheelchair. 34:06 Absolutely. Amen. 34:07 And so I wrote this song, 34:09 "Lord you know I need a brand new touch. 34:11 My strength from yesterday is gone." 34:12 Absolutely. A miracle is a miracle, right? 34:15 A miracle's a miracle. 34:16 Whether it's a toothache 34:17 or being pulled out of a wheelchair. 34:19 It's a miracle. 34:20 Yeah. We all need a brand new touch. 34:22 Will, you guys are getting ready one more time? 34:24 We all need a brand new touch from the Lord. 34:26 And sometimes we're get in a rut 34:29 but we don't know it, 34:30 that's the worse thing that can happen. 34:32 Somebody say what is a rut? 34:34 It depends what part of the country 34:35 of the world are you from. 34:36 So Molly is from Alabama. 34:38 I said, "Molly, what's a rut?" 34:39 She said, "It's nothing more than 34:41 a grave with two ends open." 34:42 So you don't want to be in a rut, right? 34:44 But in order to go, what Lanny has just said again, 34:47 we've been talking about here 34:48 the blessing of God is on the go. 34:50 So sometimes we're on a rut, we're spiritually in a rut 34:53 and we said here "Well, Lord I just-- 34:55 I'd like to do something but I can't. 34:57 And well, I don't have the gifts, 34:59 I can't sing, I can't preach." 35:01 We make all these excuses but when we go forward, 35:05 you see had he not ministered that day, 35:06 I don't think he could have got that brand new touch. 35:08 I think it felt terrible. That's right. 35:09 I know that I've done that, 35:11 there's been times and some of you know it 35:13 'cause I've been to your churches 35:15 and you're totally hoarse. 35:16 And I say, "I just cannot literally sing or preach." 35:20 And yet I go and when I show up, 35:21 never once have I not been able to-- 35:23 Once I'm there the blessing of God is on the go. 35:27 "Lord I need a brand new touch". 35:28 Yes. 35:39 Lord, you know I need a brand new touch 35:46 My strength from yesterday is gone 35:53 But if You'll give me, Lord, another touch 35:59 I'll have the strength to carry on 36:06 I thought the sun had come to stay 36:13 But all too soon it went away 36:20 And in its place the storm clouds came 36:26 And with the clouds there came the rain 36:33 It rained so hard and oh so long 36:40 But midst the storm I felt a calm 36:48 It was Your touch 36:50 That brought me through it all 36:55 Without Your help I'd surely fall 37:02 Lord, you know I need a brand new touch 37:08 My strength from yesterday is gone 37:16 But if You'll give me, Lord, another touch 37:22 I'll have the strength to carry on 37:29 Yesterday has come and gone 37:35 And now a new day's coming on 37:42 I do not know what it may bring 37:49 My heart may cry instead of sing 37:56 But it matters not what comes my way, Lord 38:03 If you'll just touch me new each day 38:10 Your loving touch drives all my fears away 38:17 Close by Your side I've got to stay 38:25 Lord, you know, I need a brand new touch 38:31 My strength from yesterday is gone 38:38 But if You'll give me, Lord, another touch 38:45 I'll have the strength to carry on 38:52 Lord, You know how weak I really am 38:59 Even better than myself 39:05 But with Your help I know I really can 39:12 Make it through the darkest night 39:15 Everything's gonna be all right 39:23 Lord, You know I need a brand new touch 39:28 A brand new touch 39:31 My strength from yesterday is gone 39:38 But if You'll give me, Lord, another touch 39:45 I'll have the strength to carry on 39:50 If you touch, Lord 39:52 I'll have the strength to carry on 39:57 Come and touch me, Lord 40:00 Give me the strength to carry on 40:14 Praise the Lord. 40:15 Maybe you're sitting there at home 40:16 and you feel like you're all alone. 40:19 And you don't really have anyone, 40:22 you have the Lord Jesus Christ with you 40:23 and you can always say to him, Lord, I need a brand new touch. 40:26 Because that's what God wants to do, He's a healer. 40:29 He's a provider, He's a healer. 40:31 Satan is a counterfeiter. 40:32 And there's a big difference, God is a creator, 40:34 He loves to create beautiful circumstances 40:37 around ugly circumstances 40:39 of sin, death, disease and sickness. 40:42 So no matter what's going on in your life today 40:45 that when you tell the Lord, I need a brand new touch, 40:48 all that really means is at least to me in lay terms 40:51 you're resubmitting, 40:52 recommitting your life to Jesus. 40:55 Maybe it's physical, maybe it's spiritual, 40:57 whatever your situation is, Lord, I need a brand new touch. 41:00 Sometimes we just need to start all over. 41:03 Because we have to realize 41:05 that we're just fine art, human beings, 41:07 we have nothing to offer, nothing good. 41:09 The Bible says actually we look at ourselves 41:12 the way we really are, it'd be pretty depressing. 41:14 I think it uses illustration like nothing more than 41:17 we look like filthy rags in the sight of God 41:19 and His loveliness and His beauty. 41:21 And that's the reason we're separated today by sin. 41:24 We don't see God face to face. 41:26 Sinful man could not stand in the presence of a Holy God. 41:30 But soon and very soon we can. 41:32 And when you ask God for a brand new touch 41:35 I promise you, it will revive you, 41:37 it will give you strength inside 41:39 that you didn't know you had because you didn't. 41:41 Because now you're using the strength of the Lord. 41:45 When the people say, I wish I had faith, 41:46 well, I just don't have-- I-- 41:48 that they actually said it to me, 41:50 "Oh, I will look at your ministry. 41:52 I wish I had your faith." I said, "I don't-- 41:54 I don't use my faith, I use the faith of Jesus 41:57 because that is that what I need in my life." 42:00 God give me a brand new touch. 42:02 The Lord wants to do that for you today. 42:04 Let me pray with you. 42:05 Dear heavenly Father, 42:06 thank You for Your blessings and Your love. 42:08 And thank You for this time that we can spend together. 42:12 Yes, we're having fun, having a good time 42:14 but the end result is that we're here for ministry 42:17 and I know that in the audience around the world 42:19 there are people that are hurting, 42:21 there are people who are depressed, 42:22 people who have given up. 42:24 Father, I ask in the name of Jesus 42:26 today that these songs as they're ministering to them 42:30 that they will ask you for that brand new touch. 42:32 And I know that You're faithful and that Father 42:35 that You will give that touch, You give that strength, 42:37 whether it's healing, physical healing, 42:39 whether it's mental, whether it's family problems, 42:43 whatever that is, domestic, 42:45 whether it's financial all of those things 42:47 God we know that You're the creator. 42:49 God, You love us, You know everything about us. 42:51 And right now as we're asking, 42:53 I'm asking in my own life for a brand new touch. 42:55 Lord that You will literally remove, 42:59 give me eyes that the blinders can be removed 43:01 and I can look to You and to Your loveliness 43:04 and understand Your plan of salvation for my life 43:07 and Your plan for me as a minister the gospel, 43:11 as a laymen to "go ye into all the world." 43:14 You said, "go ye into all the world." 43:16 Father, right now the world is wanting 43:20 for someone to give the gospel message 43:22 and I'm thankful that Lanny Wolfe Trio is here today. 43:26 And that they're ministering to us. 43:28 I sensed anointing of the Holy Spirit. 43:30 I pray for each viewer today 43:32 that You will give them a brand new touch. 43:35 In You that they will be motivated, 43:37 they will feel fulfilled, refreshed 43:40 and go tell others what You have done for them. 43:43 I ask and pray in Jesus' name. 43:45 Amen.
