Great to be back. 01:36 We had so many calls and emails 01:38 and so many things going on Facebook. 01:40 I was afraid not to ask you back 01:42 from that last program. 01:44 My people were doing their job. 01:45 Your people... 01:46 Well, we have the Lanny Wolfe Trio with us. 01:48 So we have Marietta and Dave. 01:50 Thank you for being here today. 01:52 And so we said, now we got Lanny. 01:55 We actually got him hope and we can get you too 01:58 and it worked out okay. 02:00 I'm bait. 02:02 But now that he's here we're very happy. 02:04 Marietta, we've heard you singing for many years 02:07 and love your music and Dave and Melody grew up on 02:11 and Tammy and over here Lisa, 02:13 Ladye Love, all of us grew up on Lanny Wolfe music. 02:18 Now... I was a quite a bit of a child. 02:19 Over I say all of us, but all of us grew up. 02:22 But you know our kids at least, 02:24 you know, the younger ones the Lanny Wolfe music 02:27 and they had your song books. 02:29 And, Ladye, you did too, right. You knew a lot of their songs. 02:32 So we have Yvonne Lewis, Reggie and Ladye Love Smith, 02:36 Tammy Chance my sister, 02:38 daughter Melody, Lisa, C.A. Beautiful song. 06:58 Lanny, I want to ask someone in. 07:00 I don't think you've ever met her before. 07:02 I think Marietta just passed her in the hallway. 07:05 But a woman that mean so much to me. 07:07 She's a sister. 07:09 All of us here at 3ABN and her name is Julia Outkina. 07:12 And Julia is our manager of 3ABN, Russia, our Director. 07:18 Your music had a huge impact on Julia in her life 07:23 and Sister Julia, I'm gonna ask you to come on out, 07:25 come over here by me. 07:27 And you want to say hello to Lanny Wolfe? 07:31 Hello. 07:33 Hello, Julia. And this is Marietta and Dave. 07:35 Hi, Julia, happy to meet you. 07:36 Yeah, so nice meeting you. 07:38 This is my Russian sister Julia. 07:40 Yeah. I call Danny my big brother. 07:44 And he calls me little sister. Yeah that's right. 07:46 I say I'm not so big height wise 07:48 but I'm older than her, that works, right? 07:50 And Julia became Christian through watching 07:55 or literally attending meetings 07:57 at John Carter, Elder John Carter 07:59 had in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia in 1992. 08:03 She's a professor of Linguistics English, 08:06 right your specialty? 08:08 Yes. 08:09 And so she came to the meetings to hear the language. 08:12 She never dreamed probably 08:13 you would give your heart to the Lord 08:15 and become a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, right? 08:18 Our city was closed for foreigners 08:20 for 70 plus years 08:22 because of the industry that was in the city. 08:25 And I was a teacher of English, PhD in Linguistics 08:29 and then I heard this announcement 08:32 that there are meetings in English. 08:34 And I thought, oh, I have never heard anyone 08:36 whose mother tongue is English. 08:38 I should go to those meetings to improve my English 08:41 and it was a very good situation for learning 08:44 because Pastor Carter would say a phrase in English, 08:48 then a Russian translator would translate into Russian. 08:51 So I was learning quite a bit 08:52 as far as the language is concerned. 08:54 But I praise the Lord so much 08:56 that it was not the only thing that I learned there. 08:59 That's wonderful. 09:00 Only, would you say only Jesus can satisfy your soul? 09:03 Oh, yes, yes. 09:04 I was so much blessed when you sang this song. 09:07 Only Jesus can satisfy our soul. 09:09 I know it so well from my own experience now. 09:13 Some time ago this past February, 09:16 Julia got some really bad news. 09:18 In fact the world heard about it, 09:19 it was on the news. 09:21 We were in Florida camp meeting. 09:23 Her brother Boris Nemtsov 09:25 was assassinated there in Moscow 09:28 and I called Julia to give her my condolences. 09:33 She hadn't found out yet. 09:34 It was during the middle of the night 09:36 and so I had to break the news to her, 09:38 that was maybe one of the hardest things 09:40 I've ever had to do. 09:42 And so this was devastating of course, 09:45 your younger brother? 09:47 Yes, he's 6 years younger than myself 09:50 and we're the only two children in the family. 09:52 And when we went to Russia, 09:54 he was a governor of Nizhny Novgorod 09:56 and then later he went to work for the Yeltsin Administration. 09:59 Yes, he was a first Deputy Prime Minister 10:01 of the Government of Russia. 10:03 Okay. And so now he was... 10:06 His last position was? 10:08 Well, he was actually a leader in some opposition parties 10:14 in Russian Parliament for a while. 10:17 And then they didn't get the majority of voices, 10:19 so it was not a parliament party anymore, 10:22 but he was a leader of opposition in Russia. 10:25 It was a tremendous time for Julia, 10:29 months and months went by and getting used to this 10:33 and those of us that have lost family members, 10:35 we know how terrible this can be. 10:38 Then just a couple of months ago 10:40 we got information that Julia's husband 10:42 had been out with some friends and canoeing or... 10:46 Yeah, kayaking trip. 10:48 Kayaking trip and he drowned. 10:51 She was totally devastated. 10:52 Her husband nearly 40 years, 10:53 her brother all in the same year. 10:55 She came home and I don't know what particular time 10:58 that you turned on 3ABN and who was on? 11:02 I was actually corresponding 11:03 with Danny very closely at that time 11:05 because he is a very special person 11:08 and a very special person to me in my spiritual growth, 11:13 in my spiritual life and you actually wrote to me 11:18 and you said, make sure to turn on your television 11:20 at such and such a time. 11:22 And I did and you know it was... 11:26 I can call it a breaking point in how I felt 11:30 because I felt just, you know, such sadness, 11:34 such grieve, such-- just bad. 11:38 I didn't feel good at all. 11:40 And then when I watched that program, 11:43 especially when you all sang whatever it takes 11:47 and you know what I want to say, 11:50 of course I was not raised in America 11:52 and I was not raised a Christian. 11:53 I became Christian at the age of 39 11:56 and then I started learning more and more American music 12:01 and my favorite songs were Lanny Wolfe's. 12:04 I had never known about that. I never knew... 12:07 I didn't pay you to say that, did I? 12:08 No, no, no. 12:10 No, I even didn't know that they belong to one author. 12:13 But most of your songs are my favorite. 12:16 And so when, you know, especially 12:19 or one of those is for "He's more wonderful 12:24 than my heart can conceive." 12:25 And you know when my husband died 12:27 and of course there were no arrangements 12:29 that this happens, it just was in my heart. 12:31 I started singing that song as a prayer, changing you... 12:36 I mean changing he into you. 12:38 So I just was talking to God saying, 12:42 you're more wonderful than my heart can conceive. 12:45 You're more wonderful than my mind can believe. 12:47 And it's a wonderful prayer, 12:49 I just kept singing it all the time. 12:52 And then I turned on the television, 12:55 when Danny recommended and then I saw you all 12:58 and I heard you sing this song "Whatever It Takes" 13:02 and that was kind of a, you know, starting moment 13:06 for a better attitude because immediately 13:09 after that I wrote to Danny. 13:10 I said, I laughed with you when you laughed. 13:14 I cried with you when you cried. 13:17 And especially when that part was repeated so many-- 13:20 By several of you ladies and oh, I was crying so much. 13:25 It was just, you know, I was with you when you sang that. 13:29 So, yeah... 13:32 She wrote to me and she said something like 13:34 I cannot breathe it. 13:36 Yes. 13:38 I tried to share with Danny how I feel 13:42 because it made it easier for me to go on. 13:45 And then my last phrase in that email 13:47 was I cannot breathe a breath without the Lord. 13:51 I wrote, I don't have any questions or any doubts. 13:55 I have never been closer to Him 13:58 ever in my life than now. 14:01 And I concluded it, I said, I can not breathe a breath 14:05 and I cannot make a step without Him. 14:08 Wow. 14:09 That's incredible testimony, Lanny. 14:10 That's fabulous. 14:12 And we saved her from meeting you 14:13 because I wanted her to be able to tell you first hand. 14:17 And so I know you have to be blessed to know 14:19 that God picked you so many years ago 14:22 and allowed you to pen the words 14:24 into music to songs like this. 14:26 And "Surely the Presence," 14:27 she knows "Surely the Presence." 14:28 Yes, yes, I love it. Yes. 14:30 Absolutely. 14:31 Yeah, but I look through the list 14:33 of what you're going to sing today. 14:35 I know most of them. White says, we should contemplate 38:20 an hour a day on the goodness of God. 38:22 We do that. 38:23 We're not gonna drawn to the left or to the right. 38:26 See, the devil doesn't care which side the boat 38:27 we fall out, as long as we fall out. 38:30 But when we praise God and says He inhabits 38:32 the praises of His people and that's what we're doing. 38:35 That's what we want you to do at home. 38:37 We could do this ourselves. 38:39 Be a lot cheaper, a lot less money, right. 38:41 No television, no satellite time, 38:43 we could sit around, but we want to praise with you 38:46 because that's exactly what we're gonna do in heaven. 38:48 It's gonna be all of those. 38:49 All of those who have literally accepted 38:52 the blood of Jesus Christ as an atonement for our sins 38:55 and said, thank you, Lord, we give You honor 38:57 and glory and praise. 38:59 Then he says, go and tell what I've done for you. 39:01 Get our own personal testimony is our greatest asset. 39:05 So each and everyone of us, 39:07 everyday we need to go tell people 39:09 about the Lord Jesus Christ and His soon coming 39:12 and give Him thanks and give Him praise. 39:17 It's so wonderful to sing about the Lord 39:19 and most of all to know about the Lord 39:22 and have all these experiences. 39:25 All of us have had, who sing His praises. 39:28 But every now and then, 39:29 God will allow us to look over our lives 39:33 and remember all those words that we sang. 39:37 I like to be real. I don't like anything fake. 39:41 And so I got an opportunity to do just that. 39:45 Back in 2010, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. 39:50 And when my doctor told me I just... 39:56 Oh, and I thought well, I've been singing about 40:00 what God does and about God being a healer 40:03 and He's there with you and whatever it takes. 40:07 All these songs, you know, when you sing those kind 40:10 like whatever it takes you. 40:12 You need to really mean it and be sincere with the Lord. 40:15 Lord, whatever it takes, it doesn't matter. 40:19 And so that's what I thought of and I thought. 40:21 All right, Lord, we're going on an adventure. 40:25 I'm gonna see you at work, 40:27 I'm gonna see You doing all these things 40:30 that I've been singing about all these years. 40:33 And it was a wonderful experience. 40:35 I went through the surgery and through the... 40:38 How many weeks of radiation, I don't remember. 40:42 And as far as I know everything is fine. 40:47 But God knows everything and as long as I'm in His hand 40:50 it doesn't matter what I don't know 40:52 because He's leading me, I'm following Him. 40:56 And so He has taught me in the last four, five years 41:00 to just look forward to each new day. 41:03 I don't know what it holds, 41:05 but if the Lord wants to do something with me, in my life, 41:09 that's all right because you can't lose 41:12 if you're living for the Lord. 41:14 He, if He had taken me to live with Him, 41:17 back those four years ago, 41:19 that would have been fine and then if He did let me live, 41:23 that's been wonderful too, 41:24 because I got to sing some more of those songs 41:26 and I'm gonna get to prove again. 41:28 But God is so good and nothing with the Lord 41:32 is good or bad... 41:34 I mean, you don't have... 41:36 We have a song that we sing that says, 41:39 "Praise Him in the good times and the bad times." 41:42 We say the reason we can praise Him in those times 41:45 is because if it's with the Lord 41:48 it's not bad, 41:49 it's only bad in our flesh, in our mind. 41:52 It looks bad to human being, but to God it's all good 41:56 because he's working out His will in our lives. 42:00 And so this is another song I love to sing about 42:03 "In Everything Give Him Thanks." 42:09 Halleluiah. 42:15 When troubles come and there's no one around 42:21 Satan tries to tell me, see God's let you down 42:28 But through every dark hour the best thing I found 42:33 Is to give my God thanks 42:37 Halleluiah. 42:39 Oh, for He has never 42:44 Never, never failed me yet 42:48 So why should I start now to worry and afraid 42:55 In everything I won't ever forget 43:00 To give God the thanks 43:05 Halleluiah. 43:07 Oh, in everything 43:14 Give Him thanks Give Him thanks 43:22 In everything 43:28 Give Him thanks 43:35 Even in good times praise His name 43:41 And in the bad time do the same 43:48 In everything 43:52 Give the King of Kings 43:55 All the praise 44:01 Oh, in everything 44:05 Give the King of Kings 44:09 All the praise 44:20 Amen. I'm sorry. 45:25 He was the pastor and this is the founder. 45:30 Well, I thank God for all of you 45:32 and what you're doing is wonderful 45:33 to find a new part of our family. 45:36 It's wonderful to be here worshiping the Lord together. 45:39 When I was working on my first degree in music, 45:41 this is after two degrees in business. 45:44 I got to study under a Japanese concert pianist, Iko Nishi. 45:48 And the biggest compliment I ever got from Iko Nishi, 45:52 I was scared to death. 45:54 I'm 23 years old. I auditioned for this lady. 45:57 I was trying to get in the school of music, 45:58 San Jose State University. 46:00 So here's this 23 year old man. 46:02 My knees were knocking together. 46:04 I was so embarrassed. 46:06 So anyway, whatever, however God helped me get in, 46:09 she accepted me as a student. 46:11 The only compliment I ever got from Iko Nishi was, 46:14 "Why didn't you play that like you played 46:16 that one last week?" 46:18 That's the closest thing I ever got her compliment. 46:21 I got over it. 46:23 One of the better moments of my experience of working 46:26 in my first musical degree was falling in love 46:28 with the Beethoven Sonata middle movement, 46:31 Sonata number 8, Opus 13, number 2. 46:35 And I just fell in love with this 46:37 and I played it and then I thought, 46:40 it should have gospel lyrics. 46:42 So then it was probably maybe 20 some years later, 46:47 I'd heard somebody put secular words to it. 46:49 I said, that's not right. 46:51 No, this Beethoven music, it needs gospel lyrics. 46:54 So I started writing and I was very careful 46:57 because I didn't want Beethoven to come up out of the grave, 47:01 you know, with machine guns 47:02 and say don't do that to my music. 47:04 So I was working. 47:06 The music I was working with was... 47:09 It was just exquisite and I couldn't... 47:11 I thought surely this has to be chorus. 47:13 How can I write a chorus to upstage Beethoven? 47:16 So I wrote the lyrics to that and I couldn't get a verse, 47:19 I called my friend Don Marsh who scored Noel Jesus Is Born, 47:23 and Don said, "No, you just need to use that in the verse, 47:26 you do a simple Lan, I don't like the way 47:28 he said a simple Lanny Wolfe chorus. 47:32 So according to Don Marsh, 47:34 I wrote a simple Lanny Wolfe chorus 47:36 and the song was born 47:38 and so we're gonna sing that today. 47:40 I love this and Beethoven 47:42 wherever you are just stay there. 47:47 I wrote this for God, not you. 47:53 You're gonna do this, Yvonne? 47:55 All right. 48:09 Praise the Lord 48:15 From whom all blessings flow 48:21 For He has washed 48:27 And made me white as snow 48:35 I'm redeemed 48:40 From all my sin and shame 48:46 For now and forever 48:54 Praise His holy name 49:01 Praise His holy name 49:08 Praise His holy name 49:14 To God be the glory, now and forever 49:21 Praise His holy name 49:27 God is great 49:33 And greatly to be praised 49:39 Above all others 49:46 Let His name be raised 49:53 Saints and the angels 49:59 Ever more proclaim 50:04 That He alone is worthy 50:12 Praise His holy name 50:19 Praise His holy name 50:25 Praise His holy name 50:31 To God be the glory, now and forever 50:38 Praise His holy name 50:43 To God be the glory, now and forever 50:50 Praise His holy name 50:56 Praise His holy name 51:02 Praise His holy name 51:13 Halleluiah. That's good. 54:07 Right. I can't fail. 54:09 That's almost... I might write a song. 54:10 I love him too much to fail him now. 54:12 Oh, I think you already wrote that, didn't you? 54:15 All right, but think about it, the joy that we can have 54:18 and the peace that we can have. 54:20 You went through this many, many millions of people 54:23 going through traumatic situations like this. 54:26 They don't have that confidence and that peace. 54:29 That only comes from knowing your Lord Jesus Christ. 54:31 You don't get that in a degree at any university. 54:34 We can't study it all out. 54:35 All we have to do is trust Jesus, 54:37 accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life. 54:40 And I'm so thrilled to be a Christian 54:43 in a closing moments of earth's history. 54:45 We see all these things around us 54:47 and the world is scared. 54:49 You turn on all the news agency, 54:51 almost all of them, it's bad news, 54:52 bad news, bad news, over and over and people's worried. 54:56 What am I gonna do? What's gonna happen? 54:58 Well, I know what's gonna happen. 54:59 We read at the back of the book. 55:01 The back of the book says 55:02 and they overcame him Satan by the blood of the Lamb 55:05 and the word of their testimony. 55:07 So if you want victory today, you want joy in your life, 55:11 then all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ 55:13 as Lord and Savior of your life 55:14 and then go and tell what He has done for you. 55:17 When you do that, you put yourself in a position 55:20 to experience the favor of God. 55:23 I would say the blessing of God is on the go. 55:25 Go ye into all the world. 55:27 Jesus says all authority, 55:29 all power is given me in heaven and earth. 55:31 Go ye therefore. 55:32 The other day in camp meeting some guy come up 55:34 and he said, "Do you know where the word go comes from?" 55:37 I said, not really. 55:38 He said it comes from General's orders. 55:41 And I said I love that, I receive that. 55:43 It comes from the General's orders, 55:45 the General, right. 55:47 And to know that He cares enough, 55:50 do you think for a moment. 55:52 Can we go back to the garden 55:54 when Jesus was praying before the crucifixion? 55:59 Who do you think He was praying for, himself? 56:02 Was He praying for us? Someone is praying for you. 56:05 Let's do it again the chorus. 56:07 Someone is praying for you 56:16 Someone is praying for you 56:24 So when it seems you're all alone 56:29 And your heart would break into 56:34 Remember someone 56:37 Is praying for you 56:43 Pastor C.A. Murray, I want you to give us 56:44 a closing prayer for the folks at home. 56:47 We only have a few seconds or minute or so. 56:50 What can you do for, 56:52 encourage people about Jesus today. 56:54 Oh, dear Father, how thankful we are 56:57 that someone is praying. 56:59 And we're thankful for the power 57:00 of intercessory prayer that when we fall on our knees 57:04 and lifts up our hearts, 57:05 our prayers go through the skies, 57:07 past the solar systems 57:09 and right into the very throne room of God. 57:12 Somehow, Lord, You hear each and every prayer 57:15 and Your arm is not slack, Your ear not heavy 57:18 that you can't hear, that you can't reach down 57:20 and answer every prayer. 57:21 Lord, we just praise You and thank You 57:24 that we serve our prayer answering God 57:26 and we praise You, 57:28 we love You in Jesus' name, amen. 57:32 And amen.
