I want to spend my life 00:00:02.10\00:00:07.87 Mending broken people 00:00:07.90\00:00:12.81 I want to spend my life 00:00:12.84\00:00:19.18 Removing pain 00:00:19.21\00:00:24.19 Lord, let my words 00:00:24.22\00:00:30.39 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:30.43\00:00:34.93 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.96\00:00:40.64 Mending broken people 00:00:40.67\00:00:46.07 I want to spend my life 00:00:46.11\00:00:51.61 Mending broken people 00:00:51.65\00:00:57.15 Hello and welcome to 3ABN Today. 00:01:07.40\00:01:09.23 My name is C.A. Murray. 00:01:09.26\00:01:10.60 And thank you for sharing sometime with us 00:01:10.63\00:01:12.47 and for joining us on a very special program. 00:01:12.50\00:01:15.30 Just recently we taped a number of interviews 00:01:15.34\00:01:17.77 at the recent General Conference session 00:01:17.81\00:01:19.54 in July of 2015. 00:01:19.57\00:01:21.54 What a wonderful time we had as we talked 00:01:21.58\00:01:23.55 to ministers and learned about ministries 00:01:23.58\00:01:26.55 and great things that are being done 00:01:26.58\00:01:28.65 in the name of Jesus Christ. 00:01:28.68\00:01:30.09 Shelley Quinn had a chance to talk to Dr. Allan Lindsay. 00:01:30.12\00:01:33.15 Then we are talking about a brand new video, 00:01:33.19\00:01:36.29 actually a cinematic presentation of the early days 00:01:36.32\00:01:40.20 of the Advent movement. 00:01:40.23\00:01:41.80 The movie is called "Tell the World." 00:01:41.83\00:01:44.60 This is an interesting interview 00:01:44.63\00:01:46.03 talking abut a very interesting subject. 00:01:46.07\00:01:51.61 Hello, we are here again on the convention floor 00:01:51.64\00:01:54.11 and in San Antonia and it's a beautiful day here. 00:01:54.14\00:01:56.98 And there are so many people at this conference. 00:01:57.01\00:02:00.08 It's just been a blessing to meet 00:02:00.12\00:02:01.95 our brothers and sisters in Christ 00:02:01.98\00:02:03.62 in its little taste of heaven. 00:02:03.65\00:02:05.55 But we have some one in the production booth 00:02:05.59\00:02:07.46 with us right now who is very special to me, 00:02:07.49\00:02:09.99 he's a friend of 3ABN's and a personal friend. 00:02:10.03\00:02:13.16 And let me introduce you to Dr. Allan Lindsay. 00:02:13.19\00:02:16.46 Allan, I thank you so much for coming by. 00:02:16.50\00:02:19.97 Please-- you are not a stranger to the viewers of 3ABN 00:02:20.00\00:02:25.47 because you have a very popular program on 3ABN. 00:02:25.51\00:02:28.98 But if you would, let's just kind of step back in time 00:02:29.01\00:02:32.11 and tell us just a little bit about your life, 00:02:32.15\00:02:35.05 your work with the church. 00:02:35.08\00:02:37.85 Well, Shelley, I became an Adventist 00:02:37.89\00:02:40.72 in my mid teens through a mission, 00:02:40.76\00:02:43.59 an evangelistic effort that was conducted 00:02:43.63\00:02:45.46 in Sydney in Australia. 00:02:45.49\00:02:48.46 I then went to college in Australia. 00:02:48.50\00:02:51.77 I did a degree, got a degree of BA Theology there, 00:02:51.80\00:02:57.27 entered the work in New Zealand for a while. 00:02:57.31\00:02:59.77 Then I came back to do further education 00:02:59.81\00:03:02.94 and then swapped over a little bit 00:03:02.98\00:03:05.11 into religious education and teaching 00:03:05.15\00:03:08.65 and taught for a while at Avondale in the area 00:03:08.68\00:03:11.62 of Christian education. 00:03:11.65\00:03:14.16 And then it came about in a rather strange way 00:03:14.19\00:03:18.49 that somebody found out that 00:03:18.53\00:03:20.43 I had an interest in Adventist history 00:03:20.46\00:03:22.96 and that was the reason 00:03:23.00\00:03:26.13 why I was encouraged to go Andrews University 00:03:26.17\00:03:29.97 to particularly specialize in religious education 00:03:30.01\00:03:33.24 as well particularly in Adventist history. 00:03:33.27\00:03:36.54 And I had Dr. George Knight, for example, 00:03:36.58\00:03:38.95 on of our leading authors basically. 00:03:38.98\00:03:43.28 He was one of my teachers and really arouse in me 00:03:43.32\00:03:46.29 a greater love for Adventist history 00:03:46.32\00:03:48.29 and the wonderful way the Lord has led us as a people. 00:03:48.32\00:03:51.39 And I am really convinced as I look back then and now, 00:03:51.43\00:03:55.46 even more so that we have a wonderful story to tell 00:03:55.50\00:03:58.93 about God's leading. 00:03:58.97\00:04:01.00 And so that arouse my interest in Adventist history. 00:04:01.04\00:04:04.61 One thing led to another and the leaders in the church 00:04:04.64\00:04:09.41 suggested that I make a, or be involved with making 00:04:09.44\00:04:12.91 a video series which became Keepers of the Flame. 00:04:12.95\00:04:17.15 And you know, you spent 30 years at Avondale 00:04:17.19\00:04:20.46 and you've eventually, you are on the Ellen White 00:04:20.49\00:04:22.59 research team. 00:04:22.62\00:04:23.96 I was. And you did that-- 00:04:23.99\00:04:25.33 What year did you "Keepers of the Flame?" 00:04:25.36\00:04:28.66 We-- they-- a little church in Australia 00:04:28.70\00:04:31.60 gave me six months off my teaching schedule 00:04:31.63\00:04:35.87 to write the script to study and write the script 00:04:35.90\00:04:38.74 for this new series, "Keepers of the Flame," 00:04:38.77\00:04:41.14 that was in 1988. 00:04:41.18\00:04:43.14 1980 was spent largely in filming 00:04:43.18\00:04:47.15 because we spent seven weeks in Europe, 00:04:47.18\00:04:50.59 three weeks in the United States 00:04:50.62\00:04:52.15 and two weeks in Australia, 00:04:52.19\00:04:54.49 about three months all together, 00:04:54.52\00:04:56.09 filming the series which became "Keepers of the Flame." 00:04:56.12\00:05:00.20 When you did this in 1989, did you have any idea 00:05:00.23\00:05:03.67 this documentary, this historical documentary 00:05:03.70\00:05:06.50 of the Adventist movement, 00:05:06.53\00:05:07.90 did you have any idea it will still be playing today? 00:05:07.94\00:05:11.51 I had no idea at all. 00:05:11.54\00:05:15.24 I remember we used to talk when we were making the film, 00:05:15.28\00:05:18.51 "Well, now who's going to view this film 00:05:18.55\00:05:20.88 on Adventist history? 00:05:20.92\00:05:22.25 Maybe some older people will and some new people will, 00:05:22.28\00:05:25.65 who are coming into the church. 00:05:25.69\00:05:27.19 It might be of interest to young people." 00:05:27.22\00:05:29.72 But nobody on the team ever dreamt 00:05:29.76\00:05:32.33 that it would go to the world as it has done. 00:05:32.36\00:05:35.00 Well, I know it's been one of the more 00:05:35.03\00:05:36.36 popular programs on 3ABN. 00:05:36.40\00:05:38.57 And I can recall, before I became an Adventist 00:05:38.60\00:05:41.54 watching it with keen interest because it was something that-- 00:05:41.57\00:05:45.47 I think it's important for us to remember our roots. 00:05:45.51\00:05:47.84 Well, very important. I think it's very important. 00:05:47.88\00:05:50.51 And when you think about this work in this movement, 00:05:50.55\00:05:55.35 we have had this documentary. 00:05:55.38\00:05:57.99 But right now you've been working on a new project. 00:05:58.02\00:06:00.72 That's true. That is just being released. 00:06:00.76\00:06:02.99 And tell us about the new film, if you will, it's more of an-- 00:06:03.02\00:06:09.50 well, it's a film. It's not really a documentary. 00:06:10.00\00:06:12.43 Not, not like "Keepers of the Flame." 00:06:12.47\00:06:14.10 It's a show, if you will. Yes. 00:06:14.14\00:06:15.47 Tell us about the new film, tell the World. 00:06:15.50\00:06:19.27 It was the president of the Australian 00:06:19.31\00:06:21.34 Union Conference, 00:06:21.38\00:06:22.71 Pastor Chester Stanley, 00:06:22.74\00:06:24.31 who first had in his mind the idea, 00:06:24.35\00:06:27.32 and I'm sure the Lord gave it to him, to make a movie film. 00:06:27.35\00:06:32.45 He felt that young people particularly, are attracted 00:06:32.49\00:06:36.19 more to something visual. 00:06:36.22\00:06:37.96 They don't read books perhaps as much as they used to. 00:06:37.99\00:06:40.63 And therefore, to make a movie film 00:06:40.66\00:06:43.26 of our early history was so very important to him. 00:06:43.30\00:06:46.80 So that's about three of four years ago now. 00:06:46.84\00:06:49.77 The idea was developed in the Australian union conference 00:06:49.80\00:06:53.14 and then the scripts began to be written 00:06:53.17\00:06:56.54 and then the filming was done in Canada. 00:06:56.58\00:07:00.65 They chose a village, south if Ottawa, in Canada, 00:07:00.68\00:07:05.95 called the Upper Canada village. 00:07:05.99\00:07:08.56 And it's a village that was really a recreation 00:07:08.59\00:07:11.89 of an American or a Canadian village 00:07:11.93\00:07:14.76 in the 1850s and 60s. 00:07:14.80\00:07:16.60 So this was a wonderful discovery. 00:07:16.63\00:07:18.60 I mean, it meant that we didn't have to worry 00:07:18.63\00:07:20.27 about the interior of houses, the artifacts in houses. 00:07:20.30\00:07:24.17 It was all set up 00:07:24.21\00:07:25.54 by the churches and houses that were there. 00:07:25.57\00:07:28.18 And so that was used very largely, 00:07:28.21\00:07:31.55 almost entirely as the site for the making of this film. 00:07:31.58\00:07:36.02 So it's a two and half hour movie. 00:07:36.05\00:07:39.22 And it covers the history of our church 00:07:39.25\00:07:42.32 from the time of William Miller, 00:07:42.36\00:07:43.86 when he was wrestling with his old beliefs 00:07:43.89\00:07:47.36 and finding Jesus again. 00:07:47.40\00:07:49.80 That was in 18-- coming up to the 1820s 00:07:49.83\00:07:52.93 and it concludes in 1874. 00:07:52.97\00:07:56.57 The title of the movie is "Tell the World," Shelly 00:07:56.60\00:07:59.44 and 1874 seemed to be a good closing off point for a movie 00:07:59.47\00:08:04.48 because that was the year when our first missionary 00:08:04.51\00:08:07.45 J.N. Andrews, was the first official missionary, I guess, 00:08:07.48\00:08:13.05 to leave America and travel of course, 00:08:13.09\00:08:15.32 to Switzerland and begin the work in Europe. 00:08:15.36\00:08:17.46 Amen, amen. 00:08:17.49\00:08:18.83 So this new film, this movie would be released in 00:08:18.86\00:08:23.37 and be able to-- You can purchase this through 00:08:23.40\00:08:26.07 the ABC and when is that release? 00:08:26.10\00:08:28.34 We are hoping that it will be released in the fall, 00:08:28.37\00:08:31.94 the American fall, September, October, November. 00:08:31.97\00:08:35.71 And of course, we are hoping that it will also be translated 00:08:35.74\00:08:39.25 at least into Spanish and Portuguese. 00:08:39.28\00:08:40.95 We hope next year to make it available 00:08:40.98\00:08:43.42 for our brothers and sisters there. 00:08:43.45\00:08:45.59 You worked as the Historical Consultant. 00:08:45.62\00:08:48.32 I did. Yes. 00:08:48.36\00:08:49.69 On this project. 00:08:49.72\00:08:51.26 I would like for you just to share with our viewers, 00:08:51.29\00:08:54.53 some of the-- the wonderful truths, 00:08:54.56\00:08:59.27 some of the wonderful events 00:08:59.30\00:09:00.67 that are included in this movie. 00:09:00.70\00:09:03.67 Well, we tried to cover the major events 00:09:03.71\00:09:06.11 in that period of time that I just mentioned. 00:09:06.14\00:09:09.41 William Miller, of course, to me was a wonderful man. 00:09:09.44\00:09:11.71 He never became a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:09:11.75\00:09:14.05 But he laid the foundation 00:09:14.08\00:09:15.48 for the rise of the Adventist Church. 00:09:15.52\00:09:17.55 And even though he came up to the disappointment, 00:09:17.59\00:09:19.79 was bitterly disappointed. 00:09:19.82\00:09:21.66 I always remember the words that he wrote afterwards, 00:09:21.69\00:09:24.66 "I have set my mind on another time. 00:09:24.69\00:09:27.90 And that time is today, today, today and till the Lord comes." 00:09:27.93\00:09:31.07 Yeah, for some of our viewers who may not be familiar 00:09:31.10\00:09:33.57 with what The Great Disappointment was, 00:09:33.60\00:09:35.70 explain that. 00:09:35.74\00:09:37.07 William Miller had studied the prophecies of Daniel 00:09:37.11\00:09:40.91 and particularly Daniel 8:14, that longest time prophesy 00:09:40.94\00:09:44.71 in the Bible, the 2300 years. 00:09:44.75\00:09:47.35 He became convinced that it ended in-- 00:09:47.38\00:09:50.62 about 1843 he said originally. 00:09:50.65\00:09:53.62 Then it was moved a little bit because he realized 00:09:53.66\00:09:56.73 that there was no year zero when you cross from 00:09:56.76\00:09:59.39 B.C. to A.D. time. 00:09:59.43\00:10:01.03 And eventually they set the date 00:10:01.06\00:10:02.96 based upon Biblical evidences 00:10:03.00\00:10:04.33 that was expressed at the time as 0ctober 22, 1844. 00:10:04.37\00:10:09.10 And that was the day for what? 00:10:09.14\00:10:11.04 That was the day when they expected 00:10:11.07\00:10:12.74 that the Lord would come to cleanse the earth. 00:10:12.77\00:10:15.91 The text said unto 2300 days, years, 00:10:15.94\00:10:19.61 then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 00:10:19.65\00:10:21.88 Miller thought that the sanctuary was the earth, 00:10:21.92\00:10:24.62 its cleansing was the Second Coming. 00:10:24.65\00:10:26.52 Therefore, they expected and this involved 00:10:26.55\00:10:28.96 tens of thousands of people 00:10:28.99\00:10:30.33 in the United States, particularly. 00:10:30.36\00:10:32.13 Of all different denominations. 00:10:32.16\00:10:33.50 Of all the different denominations believing 00:10:33.53\00:10:36.67 that Jesus was going to come on that day. 00:10:36.70\00:10:39.17 He didn't come and that caused a tremendous disappointment 00:10:39.20\00:10:43.37 at the time and that's why we call 00:10:43.41\00:10:45.41 it The Great Disappointment. 00:10:45.44\00:10:46.78 And yet the Lord led through that disappointment 00:10:46.81\00:10:50.65 through a small group of people who said no. 00:10:50.68\00:10:53.18 The Lord is still being leading us, where we had much evidence 00:10:53.21\00:10:56.02 that Jesus was in the movement, that the Holy Spirit 00:10:56.05\00:10:58.75 was there in the movement. 00:10:58.79\00:11:00.12 Many came to know the Lord has resolved. 00:11:00.16\00:11:02.49 They continued to study the Bible. 00:11:02.52\00:11:04.69 And then the Lord began to unfold to them 00:11:04.73\00:11:07.13 some very significant truths. 00:11:07.16\00:11:09.33 The truth of the Sabbath, the truth of Jesus' ministry 00:11:09.36\00:11:12.40 and the heavenly sanctuary. 00:11:12.43\00:11:13.84 And those are traced in the movie 00:11:13.87\00:11:16.77 as we continue this, the wonderful story 00:11:16.81\00:11:19.41 of God's leading. 00:11:19.44\00:11:20.78 And this is the exciting thing 00:11:20.81\00:11:23.18 because there is young Ellen Harmon. 00:11:23.21\00:11:25.98 Tell us about her beginnings with the church. 00:11:26.01\00:11:29.48 Well, Ellen Harmon also believed with her family, 00:11:29.52\00:11:33.52 her Methodist family up there in Portland 00:11:33.56\00:11:36.09 in the state of Maine. 00:11:36.12\00:11:37.96 They believed in William Miller's teachings. 00:11:37.99\00:11:40.13 In fact, they were cast out of the Methodist Church 00:11:40.16\00:11:42.56 because they believed that Jesus was coming. 00:11:42.60\00:11:45.30 Ellen Harmon later wrote that that year, 00:11:45.33\00:11:47.70 1844 was the happiest year in her life. 00:11:47.74\00:11:50.54 She loved Jesus 00:11:50.57\00:11:51.91 and she was looking forward to seeing Him on October 22. 00:11:51.94\00:11:55.61 When He didn't come, her disappointment was bitter. 00:11:55.64\00:11:59.61 But it was only a couple of months after that 00:11:59.65\00:12:01.55 in December 1844 that the Lord reached down 00:12:01.58\00:12:04.99 to that young girl, given up to die in three months. 00:12:05.02\00:12:08.49 I mean, she was in a very sickly condition. 00:12:08.52\00:12:11.39 But the Lord laid His hand upon and gave her in December, 00:12:11.43\00:12:14.63 the first of some 2000 visions that she was to receive 00:12:14.66\00:12:18.93 over the next 70 years of her ministry. 00:12:18.97\00:12:21.70 And we believe as Seventh-day Adventist 00:12:21.74\00:12:25.01 that at that time the Lord gave her the gift of prophecy. 00:12:25.04\00:12:29.04 And she was used by God over the next 70 years 00:12:29.08\00:12:32.58 to marvelously lead and guide and warn 00:12:32.61\00:12:36.02 and encourage the church 00:12:36.05\00:12:37.92 and particularly, to draw the church to Jesus. 00:12:37.95\00:12:40.52 She loved Jesus herself and she wanted-- 00:12:40.56\00:12:42.99 her greatest aim was to bring people to know Jesus. 00:12:43.02\00:12:46.13 And she was such a person of great humility 00:12:46.16\00:12:48.70 and I appreciate so much that how she would say that, 00:12:48.73\00:12:52.07 you know, she was a lesser light 00:12:52.10\00:12:53.74 pointing to the greater light, that's exactly... 00:12:53.77\00:12:55.57 because everything that she wrote was 00:12:55.60\00:12:58.17 based on scripture and she even said at one point. 00:12:58.21\00:13:01.38 If people would really study their Bibles 00:13:01.41\00:13:04.61 that her writings wouldn't even be necessary. 00:13:04.65\00:13:06.72 That is true. 00:13:06.75\00:13:08.08 She was never want to put herself above the scripture. 00:13:08.12\00:13:12.22 but that, you know, I wanted to point that out 00:13:12.25\00:13:14.89 because there are sometimes people who hear 00:13:14.92\00:13:17.43 if a church has a prophet, they'll think 00:13:17.46\00:13:19.76 "Oh, well, it's got to be different in the Bible." 00:13:19.79\00:13:22.23 But everything she did supported the Bible completely. 00:13:22.26\00:13:25.50 And she herself said that if there is material 00:13:25.53\00:13:28.04 in her writings, then that believed the Bible. 00:13:28.07\00:13:31.27 We have to believe the Bible. 00:13:31.31\00:13:32.84 And I'm so glad that she said that 00:13:32.87\00:13:35.18 even at that crucial time 00:13:35.21\00:13:36.54 when we were studying the doctrines of the Bible. 00:13:36.58\00:13:38.98 She had a remarkable experience and as much as she tells us 00:13:39.01\00:13:42.32 that her mind was not so that she couldn't understand 00:13:42.35\00:13:46.35 the scriptures that the pioneers were studying. 00:13:46.39\00:13:50.03 And I believe that her mind was locked 00:13:50.06\00:13:52.53 and this is featured in "Tell the World," 00:13:52.56\00:13:54.23 the movie film. 00:13:54.26\00:13:55.63 It was locked in order to avoid any charge that our teachings, 00:13:55.66\00:14:01.70 as they developed came from the word of God. 00:14:01.74\00:14:04.81 It was to prove that they came from the word of God 00:14:04.84\00:14:07.31 and not from her visionary experience at all. 00:14:07.34\00:14:10.35 And that's important. Amen. 00:14:10.38\00:14:12.45 What do you think is one of the highlights 00:14:12.48\00:14:14.62 of this new movie film 'Tell the World?' 00:14:14.65\00:14:18.32 Well, that's a hard question, Shelley, 00:14:18.35\00:14:19.95 because they were so many highlights 00:14:19.99\00:14:22.06 as I look back. 00:14:22.09\00:14:24.16 There is some very emotional moments in the film 00:14:24.19\00:14:26.63 because Ellen White lost two sons, 00:14:26.66\00:14:30.23 a little baby of three months old 00:14:30.27\00:14:32.40 and her 16 year old son and that was very great 00:14:32.43\00:14:38.67 tragedy in her life. 00:14:38.71\00:14:40.24 And that's portrayed. 00:14:40.28\00:14:41.61 So there are some emotional moments. 00:14:41.64\00:14:43.61 But there are some great moments 00:14:43.65\00:14:44.98 in terms of the organization of the church 00:14:45.01\00:14:47.82 taking the name Seventh-day Adventist 00:14:47.85\00:14:50.02 which was to present to the world 00:14:50.05\00:14:51.59 those two wonderful truths, the Sabbath 00:14:51.62\00:14:54.19 and the soon coming of Jesus. 00:14:54.22\00:14:57.16 The emphasis to on preparing the world, 00:14:57.19\00:15:00.70 Tell the World with J.N. Andrews going out in 1874, 00:15:00.73\00:15:05.10 those were the some of the highlights. 00:15:05.13\00:15:06.63 But it's a movie that as I look back upon it, 00:15:06.67\00:15:09.94 it really tells the story 00:15:09.97\00:15:12.71 and reminds us of that wonderful statement 00:15:12.74\00:15:14.61 Ellen White said, 00:15:14.64\00:15:15.98 "We have nothing to fear for the future, 00:15:16.01\00:15:17.85 except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, 00:15:17.88\00:15:21.35 and His teaching in our past history." 00:15:21.38\00:15:23.65 Amen. 00:15:23.69\00:15:25.02 And this is something that 00:15:25.05\00:15:26.39 you worked as a Historical consultant. 00:15:26.42\00:15:28.59 I did. 00:15:28.62\00:15:29.96 It's like, first you developed the documentary 00:15:29.99\00:15:33.36 and now you'vebeen working on this 00:15:33.40\00:15:35.66 and I know that this was a great satisfaction to you 00:15:35.70\00:15:38.93 as part of your life's work. 00:15:38.97\00:15:40.77 It carried a lot of responsibility. 00:15:40.80\00:15:42.70 I mean, at the beginning, particularly, 00:15:43.14\00:15:44.87 I was associated with Dr. George Knight 00:15:44.91\00:15:47.04 and Pastor Jim Nix of the White Estate. 00:15:47.08\00:15:49.38 But I carried I guess the major burden 00:15:49.41\00:15:52.38 because I was in Australia 00:15:52.41\00:15:54.55 whereas they were in the United States 00:15:54.58\00:15:56.25 and so it made a lot easier to carry it on. 00:15:56.28\00:15:58.69 Why do think this movie film 00:15:58.92\00:16:01.92 was so important for this generation? 00:16:01.96\00:16:07.10 I believe it's important for this generation, 00:16:07.13\00:16:09.53 not only the young but the old as well, 00:16:09.56\00:16:12.23 because remembering our past 00:16:12.27\00:16:14.80 contribute so much to our identity. 00:16:14.84\00:16:17.71 If I could remove every member you had from this point, 00:16:17.74\00:16:20.54 Shelley, back to your beginnings, 00:16:20.58\00:16:22.64 you would lose your identity. 00:16:22.68\00:16:24.35 And I believe that's the same 00:16:24.38\00:16:26.05 as far as the church is concerned. 00:16:26.08\00:16:27.95 If we don't realize why we exist, 00:16:27.98\00:16:31.25 we lose our sense of mission. 00:16:31.29\00:16:32.79 We have no purpose for the future. 00:16:32.82\00:16:34.89 But when we realize that God raised up this people 00:16:34.92\00:16:37.49 to proclaim His last message to the world, 00:16:37.53\00:16:40.30 in the context of the everlasting gospel, 00:16:40.33\00:16:42.83 then that gives us all the impetus we need to say 00:16:42.86\00:16:48.07 we have a message for the world, 00:16:48.10\00:16:49.97 Jesus is coming 00:16:50.01\00:16:51.54 and our role is to prepare the world for that. 00:16:51.57\00:16:53.64 And that's an awesome responsibility 00:16:53.68\00:16:55.74 and this film I believe 00:16:55.78\00:16:57.11 I wanted to really tell that wonderful story 00:16:57.15\00:17:00.32 to confirm people's faith that Jesus is coming, 00:17:00.35\00:17:03.59 but the God raised up this people 00:17:03.62\00:17:06.15 to proclaim His last message to the world. 00:17:06.19\00:17:08.02 And to understand that this, the Seventh-day Adventists 00:17:08.06\00:17:12.53 began from many different denominations 00:17:12.56\00:17:15.83 coming together in deep Bible study. 00:17:15.86\00:17:18.33 And understanding or receiving greater light 00:17:18.37\00:17:22.14 and now this is not just a church 00:17:22.17\00:17:26.17 but it is a movement. 00:17:26.21\00:17:27.54 And we believe it is God's last day movement. 00:17:27.58\00:17:29.51 Indeed, indeed. Yes. 00:17:29.54\00:17:30.91 Allan, thank you so much for joining us today 00:17:30.95\00:17:33.62 and for those of you at home, if you-- as you're watching, 00:17:33.65\00:17:36.79 remember that this project will be released this fall 00:17:36.82\00:17:41.09 or probably, September, October and you will be able 00:17:41.12\00:17:44.33 to get that at the ABC's 00:17:44.36\00:17:47.30 and the movie is titled "Tell the World." 00:17:47.33\00:17:50.73 And it is a wonderful film. 00:17:50.77\00:17:52.43 I've seen portions of it. 00:17:52.47\00:17:53.87 I'm looking forward to seeing the entire one. 00:17:53.90\00:17:56.30 But is something that will remind you 00:17:56.34\00:17:59.41 of what our roots are, it will inspire you 00:17:59.44\00:18:02.68 as to how God has moved in the past 00:18:02.71\00:18:05.78 and how He'll continue to move in the future. 00:18:05.81\00:18:09.18 So we thank you so much for being with us, Allan. 00:18:09.22\00:18:11.62 God bless you for all of your hard work. 00:18:11.65\00:18:12.99 And God bless you too. Thank you. 00:18:13.02\00:18:15.69 As a lover of church history and denominational history, 00:18:19.19\00:18:23.37 I'm looking forward to this wonderful film 00:18:23.40\00:18:26.37 called "Tell the World," which will be out 00:18:26.40\00:18:28.04 in the fall of 2015. 00:18:28.07\00:18:30.01 Up next, Shelley Quinn had a chance 00:18:30.04\00:18:31.57 to talk with Jim Rennie and Dale Mole, 00:18:31.61\00:18:34.21 they both of that wonderful Asian Aid Ministry. 00:18:34.24\00:18:37.98 They are gonna be talking about the recent earth quake 00:18:38.01\00:18:40.85 there in Nepal and how medical work 00:18:40.88\00:18:43.85 continued even in the midst of the earthquake. 00:18:43.89\00:18:45.95 A baby was delivered in courtyard of the hospital 00:18:45.99\00:18:48.69 right at the height of that earth quake. 00:18:48.72\00:18:50.46 It's an interesting story 00:18:50.49\00:18:52.33 and the one you'll be blessed by. 00:18:52.36\00:18:54.40 Hi, I'm Shelley Quinn. 00:18:57.67\00:18:59.00 Again we're coming to you from the convention hall floor 00:18:59.03\00:19:02.37 where you can hear all the ambient noise 00:19:02.40\00:19:04.47 going behind us. 00:19:04.51\00:19:05.91 But we are here at the GC session 00:19:05.94\00:19:08.74 2015 in San Antonio, Texas 00:19:08.78\00:19:11.31 and our special guest for this interview 00:19:11.35\00:19:13.45 are Dr. Dale Mole. 00:19:13.48\00:19:15.58 He is the CEO of Scheer Memorial hospital in Nepal 00:19:15.62\00:19:19.85 and we also have a dear friend Jim Rennie who is with us 00:19:19.89\00:19:23.06 who is the CEO of Asian Aid 00:19:23.09\00:19:25.19 and we want to welcome both of you. 00:19:25.23\00:19:28.36 Jim, I'm going to start with you actually. 00:19:28.40\00:19:31.17 You are not a stranger to our 3ABN viewers. 00:19:31.20\00:19:34.70 Asian Aid has a beautiful program on 3ABN 00:19:34.74\00:19:37.61 and it has been doing a great work in India. 00:19:37.64\00:19:40.58 Tell us just briefly about Asian Aid 00:19:40.61\00:19:43.58 for someone that might be new to the network 00:19:43.61\00:19:46.21 and tell us about the recent appeal, 00:19:46.25\00:19:49.18 how you introduced us to Scheer Memorial Hospital. 00:19:49.22\00:19:52.52 Thanks Shelley. 00:19:52.55\00:19:53.89 It's a privilege to be here again. 00:19:53.92\00:19:55.76 Well, Asian Aid is a fully supported 00:19:55.79\00:19:58.36 ministry of the church. 00:19:58.39\00:20:00.06 Our key activity is child sponsorship. 00:20:00.10\00:20:02.86 And we have about over two and half thousand children 00:20:02.90\00:20:06.13 in Nepal, India, Bangladesh 00:20:06.17\00:20:08.87 and we're just launching Myanmar. 00:20:08.90\00:20:11.27 Our other activity includes orphanages, 00:20:11.31\00:20:14.34 school for the blind and school for the deaf. 00:20:14.38\00:20:17.38 And for a long history in Nepal, 00:20:17.41\00:20:20.28 we've been involved with Scheer Adventist Memorial hospital, 00:20:20.32\00:20:24.45 both with women's prolapse surgery 00:20:24.49\00:20:28.09 which Helen Egger gave the lead in. 00:20:28.12\00:20:30.59 And also with children's operations 00:20:30.63\00:20:34.30 and on the grounds of Scheer hospital 00:20:34.33\00:20:36.73 there's an Adventist school where we have children. 00:20:36.77\00:20:40.20 So we have had a working relationship with Scheer. 00:20:40.24\00:20:43.51 So when the big earthquake appeal happened at I rang Dale 00:20:43.54\00:20:47.51 and said, "Look we have to help. 00:20:47.54\00:20:49.38 Could we be the fund raiser, 00:20:49.41\00:20:52.18 key fund raiser for you in the USA?" 00:20:52.21\00:20:55.58 And so that's why and how we became involved. 00:20:55.62\00:21:00.22 And then we had the appeal, 3ABN really got behind it. 00:21:00.26\00:21:05.56 3ABN made a huge difference 00:21:05.59\00:21:08.86 and we setting objective of $200, 000. 00:21:08.90\00:21:12.33 Well, praise the Lord, we are so fine, 00:21:12.37\00:21:14.74 it's still coming in and it's donated 00:21:14.77\00:21:17.41 were well over $300,000. 00:21:17.44\00:21:19.37 Glory to God. 00:21:19.41\00:21:20.74 So the partnership of Asian Aid, 3ABN, 00:21:20.78\00:21:24.25 and Scheer was a very unique experience for us. 00:21:24.28\00:21:28.05 Amen. And this has been a --- 00:21:28.08\00:21:29.88 it's been devastating to the area. 00:21:29.92\00:21:32.12 Am I correct Dr. Mole that you are the only 00:21:32.15\00:21:35.39 Adventist institution in Nepal. 00:21:35.42\00:21:37.69 That's correct, yes. Yeah, okay. 00:21:37.73\00:21:39.39 Before we talk about the hospital 00:21:39.43\00:21:41.76 and how it was founded, 00:21:41.80\00:21:43.33 tell us a little about your personal history 00:21:43.37\00:21:45.87 because I think it's fascinating 00:21:45.90\00:21:47.50 and how God brought you to Nepal. 00:21:47.54\00:21:49.54 Yeah, well, I mean, it's true. 00:21:49.57\00:21:51.44 The Lord does work in a mysterious ways. 00:21:51.47\00:21:54.64 My parents were missionaries in the Middle East. 00:21:54.68\00:21:58.38 I was born in Beirut, 00:21:58.41\00:22:01.05 went to Medical school in Kansas City. 00:22:01.08\00:22:04.09 But wife there who was, 00:22:04.12\00:22:07.26 her parents were missionaries in India. 00:22:07.29\00:22:09.56 So I was on a Navy Health professional scholarship 00:22:09.59\00:22:15.66 and the Navy put me through Medical school 00:22:15.70\00:22:17.93 and I spent 33 1/2 years in the Navy 00:22:17.97\00:22:21.20 as an emergency medicine physician 00:22:21.24\00:22:23.17 and both clinical and executive positions. 00:22:23.20\00:22:28.41 After retiring from the Navy, 00:22:28.44\00:22:30.68 it's been a year at in Antarctica 00:22:30.71\00:22:32.98 at South Pole station, 00:22:33.01\00:22:34.35 it's the Southern most Adventist in the world 00:22:34.38\00:22:37.35 for about ten months. 00:22:37.39\00:22:39.15 And then I heard about Scheer Memorial hospital 00:22:39.19\00:22:42.36 and that they were looking for somebody 00:22:42.39\00:22:44.36 to be the administrator there. 00:22:44.39\00:22:48.20 And my wife and I had always 00:22:48.23\00:22:50.40 talked about doing mission work. 00:22:50.43\00:22:52.77 We didn't realize 00:22:52.80\00:22:56.17 that we were gonna do it full time. 00:22:56.20\00:23:01.38 and took a leap of faith, sold our house, 00:23:01.41\00:23:03.61 put all our things in storage and headed to Nepal. 00:23:03.65\00:23:07.28 praise god. 00:23:07.32\00:23:08.65 So how many beds is Scheer Memorial hospital? 00:23:08.68\00:23:12.65 We're licensed for 150 beds. 00:23:12.69\00:23:15.56 That's a good sized hospital. Right. 00:23:15.59\00:23:17.36 It originally started out as a 20 bed hospital in 1960. 00:23:17.39\00:23:21.96 Stanley, Dr. Stanley Sturgis was the first doctor there 00:23:22.00\00:23:27.04 and administrator 00:23:27.07\00:23:28.74 and it's gradually grown over the years 00:23:28.77\00:23:31.37 and now has a School of Nursing as well. 00:23:31.41\00:23:33.34 Wonderful. We have all seen 00:23:33.38\00:23:36.04 the horrible footage of the devastation 00:23:36.08\00:23:39.75 of this earthquake that hit Nepal. 00:23:39.78\00:23:42.05 Tell us your personal, as eyes and ears on the ground. 00:23:42.08\00:23:46.59 Tell us how, what kind of an emotional 00:23:46.62\00:23:48.82 impact that had on you. 00:23:48.86\00:23:50.56 Yeah, well, it was really devastating 00:23:50.59\00:23:52.13 to the people of Nepal. 00:23:52.16\00:23:55.03 I mean, it's a desperately poor country to begin with. 00:23:55.06\00:23:59.43 But even more so after this tragedy 00:23:59.47\00:24:03.47 many people were living outside. 00:24:03.51\00:24:05.57 They were displaced from their homes. 00:24:05.61\00:24:07.14 About three and a half million according to World Health 00:24:07.18\00:24:10.81 Organization statistics. 00:24:10.85\00:24:14.12 Almost 9000 killed and I suspect the numbers 00:24:14.15\00:24:20.02 are actually much higher than that 00:24:20.06\00:24:21.89 because out in the remote areas, 00:24:21.92\00:24:25.39 when somebody dies, the villagers take care 00:24:25.43\00:24:27.70 of their own, do the cremations 00:24:27.73\00:24:30.23 and these people never show up on government statistics, 00:24:30.27\00:24:36.20 so even people 00:24:36.24\00:24:39.84 who had homes that weren't destroyed 00:24:39.87\00:24:44.75 in the initial earthquake, 00:24:44.78\00:24:46.11 were afraid to live inside their homes. 00:24:46.15\00:24:48.08 So many people living outside. 00:24:48.12\00:24:52.02 The really amazing thing I think about being in Nepal 00:24:52.05\00:24:56.89 is I probably see more miracles there in a week 00:24:56.93\00:25:02.60 than I see in a decade in a developed country 00:25:02.63\00:25:05.60 like the United States. 00:25:05.63\00:25:07.80 When I first got there, I-- for about first week, 00:25:07.84\00:25:12.24 I felt like getting back on the plane and heading home. 00:25:12.27\00:25:16.91 The country is so needy and so desperately poor. 00:25:16.95\00:25:21.82 But you know I saw-- there was a little boy 00:25:21.85\00:25:26.76 who had typhoid fever 00:25:26.79\00:25:28.72 and developed a bowel proliferation 00:25:28.76\00:25:31.39 as a result of that. 00:25:31.43\00:25:32.76 And he came into our hospital and in Septic shock. 00:25:32.79\00:25:37.33 He went to the operating room, has had surgery 00:25:37.37\00:25:40.87 and then went to the intensive care unit 00:25:40.90\00:25:43.00 and developed adult respiratory 00:25:43.04\00:25:49.21 distress syndrome which is condition of the lungs. 00:25:49.24\00:25:52.51 It's almost universally fatal. 00:25:52.55\00:25:54.68 So I really expected that I wouldn't see him 00:25:54.72\00:25:57.85 and his bed the next morning. 00:25:57.89\00:26:00.12 And I couldn't believe it when not only was he there in bed 00:26:00.16\00:26:04.43 but that afternoon he was off the ventilator and two days 00:26:04.46\00:26:07.16 later he was sitting up smiling in the pediatric ward. 00:26:07.20\00:26:11.80 So seeing that I knew why I had come to Nepal. 00:26:11.83\00:26:16.64 Yeah, I mean it's and the as a result 00:26:17.51\00:26:20.51 of this earthquake we had a little girl 00:26:20.54\00:26:22.78 who was still in our hospital. 00:26:22.81\00:26:25.85 She was buried alive in her house 00:26:25.88\00:26:28.55 and buried in the rubble for several hours 00:26:28.58\00:26:32.12 and she heard her father talking outside. 00:26:32.15\00:26:36.02 The family thought she was dead. 00:26:36.06\00:26:37.83 And she yelled out, "quit talking and come and get me." 00:26:37.86\00:26:42.16 So they dug her out with a bare hands, 00:26:42.20\00:26:46.33 it took several hours and her uncle carried her on 00:26:46.37\00:26:51.47 for four or five hours on a motor cycle. 00:26:51.51\00:26:55.14 She lived in a very remote area 00:26:55.18\00:26:57.15 and brought her to our hospital. 00:26:57.18\00:26:59.61 Now did the hospital sustain much structural damage? 00:26:59.65\00:27:03.55 Well, initially it didn't appear to be so 00:27:03.59\00:27:05.55 but we've had structural engineers in 00:27:05.59\00:27:08.59 and there are some parts of the hospital 00:27:08.62\00:27:10.93 that are actually-- probably need to be rebuilt 00:27:10.96\00:27:13.70 but we were able to continue to provide full services 00:27:13.73\00:27:17.67 through the entire duration of the earthquake 00:27:17.70\00:27:20.24 and its aftermath. 00:27:20.27\00:27:21.60 What's interesting is we actually were in the middle 00:27:21.64\00:27:25.74 of a cesarean section when the first earthquake hit, 00:27:25.77\00:27:28.68 just getting ready to start it. 00:27:28.71\00:27:31.48 So what we did is, we moved the patient 00:27:31.51\00:27:33.95 and the surgical team out to the courtyard 00:27:33.98\00:27:36.52 that's in the middle of our hospital 00:27:36.55\00:27:39.25 and we did the cesarean section outside, 00:27:39.29\00:27:42.39 Is mother and baby are... under sky, 00:27:42.42\00:27:43.93 Mother and baby are doing fine. Oh, glory to God. 00:27:43.96\00:27:46.93 But now I'm sure that the increase of demand 00:27:46.96\00:27:50.77 what you are short on were hospital supplies, 00:27:50.80\00:27:53.64 is that correct? 00:27:53.67\00:27:55.00 Yeah, I mean, what we're really short of is funds. 00:27:55.04\00:28:00.64 Again, our average outpatient visit cost only 40 cents. 00:28:00.68\00:28:05.18 That's what we charge the patient. 00:28:05.21\00:28:08.02 But even at 40 cents, many cannot afford that 00:28:08.05\00:28:10.92 and especially after the earth quake 00:28:10.95\00:28:12.65 where they've lost their homes, they've lost their businesses. 00:28:12.69\00:28:16.12 So these people again were desperately poor 00:28:16.16\00:28:19.46 before the earthquake, even more so afterwards. 00:28:19.49\00:28:22.13 So just since the 25th of April when we had the first 00:28:22.16\00:28:26.17 earthquake, we've given over four and a half billion rupees 00:28:26.20\00:28:30.41 of free medical care to the people of Nepal. 00:28:30.44\00:28:33.21 That's amazing. 00:28:33.24\00:28:35.18 And what we have seen Helen Egger has been so good 00:28:35.21\00:28:39.31 in keeping us updated sending the reports of just-- 00:28:39.35\00:28:44.52 with food shortage, the trouble of getting supplies in. 00:28:44.55\00:28:47.99 Have you found, I mean, have you found good suppliers 00:28:48.02\00:28:51.73 to get supplies to you? 00:28:51.76\00:28:53.46 Yeah, the problem is not necessarily getting supplies 00:28:53.50\00:28:56.16 into the country, it's getting them distributed 00:28:56.20\00:28:59.07 out to some of the more rural areas. 00:28:59.10\00:29:02.10 If you've never been to Nepal, it's hard to fully appreciate 00:29:02.14\00:29:06.17 how remote some of these areas are. 00:29:06.21\00:29:09.78 You can drive certain distance but from there you have to hire 00:29:09.81\00:29:13.98 porters and go on these small footpaths up to remote areas 00:29:14.02\00:29:18.75 and some of these people have not received any help. 00:29:18.79\00:29:21.86 One of the things the hospital is doing is we're actually 00:29:21.89\00:29:24.73 sending medical teams out into these difficult-to-reach places 00:29:24.76\00:29:29.40 and it's-- I mean, it's becoming even more of a problem 00:29:29.43\00:29:35.44 what the onset of the monsoon rains, 00:29:35.47\00:29:38.17 which just started last week. 00:29:38.21\00:29:42.38 What about your staffing needs? 00:29:42.41\00:29:44.28 Are you fully staffed or do you need people to come over? 00:29:44.31\00:29:47.82 Do you accept volunteers? Tell us about that. 00:29:47.85\00:29:51.42 Yeah, we do accept the volunteers 00:29:51.45\00:29:53.46 and I would ask people to email me directly 00:29:53.49\00:29:57.23 at ceo.smh@gmail.com 00:29:57.26\00:30:02.93 if they are interested in volunteering. 00:30:02.96\00:30:06.27 ceo@smh... smh. 00:30:06.30\00:30:10.57 Okay, ceo.smh@gmail.com 00:30:10.61\00:30:16.58 Right. All right. 00:30:16.61\00:30:20.08 Primarily what we need the most right now is people's funds. 00:30:20.12\00:30:25.19 It's money. 00:30:25.22\00:30:26.86 And I do want to take an opportunity to thank 00:30:26.89\00:30:30.06 the viewers of our program 00:30:30.09\00:30:32.03 who have donated money for our hospital. 00:30:32.06\00:30:35.43 They probably don't fully realize how far that money goes 00:30:35.46\00:30:38.57 in Nepal that the sorts of... 00:30:38.60\00:30:40.57 You know, if an average visit is 40 cents for medical care, 00:30:40.60\00:30:44.11 you can imagine if you send a hundred dollars, 00:30:44.14\00:30:46.24 that's going along way there. 00:30:46.27\00:30:47.88 Yeah, and I realize that probably 00:30:47.91\00:30:50.35 for some of your viewers, that this is a sacrifice 00:30:50.38\00:30:54.35 that by giving money to our hospital 00:30:54.38\00:30:57.49 through Asian Aid, that they are going with 00:30:57.52\00:31:00.06 our thanks and you know, on behalf of the people 00:31:00.09\00:31:04.99 of Nepal I just want to say, thank you. 00:31:05.03\00:31:08.43 And they really can't 4fully appreciate how much that means. 00:31:08.46\00:31:12.20 Well, Dr. Mole, I don't know if they can tell right now, 00:31:12.23\00:31:15.40 if the camera could catch his eyes, 00:31:15.44\00:31:16.97 but he's become very emotional and that's a very heartfelt 00:31:17.01\00:31:20.64 and sincere thank you. 00:31:20.68\00:31:22.51 It is amazing the work that you're doing. 00:31:22.54\00:31:25.65 Jim, we're so glad that you gave us the opportunity 00:31:25.68\00:31:29.22 by introducing it to 3ABN, to give us personally 00:31:29.25\00:31:32.49 and our viewers the opportunity to support this. 00:31:32.52\00:31:36.06 Tell us a little what Asian Aid is doing now. 00:31:36.09\00:31:41.00 In Nepal? In Nepal. 00:31:41.03\00:31:42.63 Well, in Nepal we are currently focused on raising funds 00:31:42.66\00:31:47.77 for the rescue operation. 00:31:47.80\00:31:49.54 You can hear from Dale, well, that's the big need. 00:31:49.57\00:31:52.41 So the appeal is still open. 00:31:52.44\00:31:54.71 So people can go to our website and still donate. 00:31:54.74\00:31:57.88 That's the real need. 00:31:57.91\00:31:59.71 We're also looking at the school... 00:31:59.75\00:32:01.12 Now when you say, they can go to your website, 00:32:01.15\00:32:03.42 they can donate for Scheer Memorial hospital 00:32:03.45\00:32:05.95 at your website. So they go to asainaid.org. 00:32:05.99\00:32:08.59 It's asianaid.org. 00:32:08.62\00:32:11.03 It's very clear, they can pick Scheer Memorial hospital 00:32:11.06\00:32:14.50 and we get the funds directly to Scheer. 00:32:14.53\00:32:18.50 We got full text adaptability and we have direct relationship 00:32:18.53\00:32:23.24 with the hospital. 00:32:23.27\00:32:24.64 We're also looking at what we can do with the school. 00:32:24.67\00:32:27.74 We'd really like to-- it's exciting that Dale has a vision 00:32:27.78\00:32:31.21 for the children. 00:32:31.25\00:32:32.58 So we're looking at extending the school there or even trying 00:32:32.61\00:32:36.55 to build a boarding school. 00:32:36.58\00:32:38.25 So we're exploring how we can grow our sponsorship program. 00:32:38.29\00:32:42.59 As I said, we've got about 50 children there already. 00:32:42.62\00:32:46.36 And that brings me to a question. 00:32:46.39\00:32:48.96 How does a surgeon, a doctor, a CEO of this hospital, 00:32:49.00\00:32:52.80 how did the Lord give you this vision for the children? 00:32:52.83\00:32:57.61 Well, you know, I think it's just the matter 00:32:57.64\00:32:59.67 of going there and seeing the desperate situation 00:32:59.71\00:33:03.51 that, you know, again money goes a long ways there. 00:33:03.55\00:33:07.42 And the hospital is been there since 1960 00:33:07.45\00:33:13.02 and I think the work could go a lot further than it has. 00:33:13.05\00:33:18.36 I think the earthquake in some respects, 00:33:18.39\00:33:21.63 it was a real tragedy, there's no doubt about that. 00:33:21.66\00:33:24.23 But it has given the Adventist Church 00:33:24.27\00:33:28.50 the opportunity to move forward and expand 00:33:28.54\00:33:31.64 in some of the affected districts over 90% 00:33:31.67\00:33:35.21 of the government health clinics have been destroyed. 00:33:35.24\00:33:38.35 So these people have no place to go. 00:33:38.38\00:33:40.92 And this is the time that we need to expand 00:33:40.95\00:33:45.02 Adventist health care in Nepal. 00:33:45.05\00:33:47.62 And if without the funding I'm sure in the early days 00:33:47.66\00:33:50.96 you had to turn many people away. 00:33:50.99\00:33:52.86 You just didn't have the supplies. 00:33:52.89\00:33:54.80 So without this funding there would be many 00:33:54.83\00:33:57.20 who would be going unattended. 00:33:57.23\00:33:59.23 I know that things are desperate there 00:33:59.27\00:34:01.67 and we're just so grateful to God 00:34:01.70\00:34:03.74 that both of your organizations are reaching out to meet 00:34:03.77\00:34:08.21 the needs of the people. 00:34:08.24\00:34:09.71 Well, and Jim was a real lifesaver, I got to tell you. 00:34:09.74\00:34:12.25 I got-- my job is taking care of sick people 00:34:12.28\00:34:16.42 and trying to run a hospital which was difficult 00:34:16.45\00:34:18.69 enough before the earthquake but afterwards, 00:34:18.72\00:34:21.49 things were even more chaotic 00:34:21.52\00:34:23.06 and Jim came in through both him and 3ABN, 00:34:23.09\00:34:29.20 I mean, you have really been a lifeline 00:34:29.23\00:34:31.33 and have dramatically changed the lives of many 00:34:31.37\00:34:35.30 Nepali's in ways that you will never fully appreciate. 00:34:35.34\00:34:38.31 Not until that-- someday 00:34:38.34\00:34:40.54 when we're on the sea of glass, right? 00:34:40.58\00:34:41.91 Amen, amen. 00:34:41.94\00:34:43.71 Well, I know that God has called both of you 00:34:43.75\00:34:47.35 to your positions and you know, 00:34:47.38\00:34:49.22 sometimes we use the word 00:34:49.25\00:34:50.59 CEO and it sounds lofty. 00:34:50.62\00:34:53.76 What I have found in supporting ministries of the church 00:34:53.79\00:34:57.19 that it just means you're gonna work twice as hard 00:34:57.23\00:34:59.86 and wear many hats. 00:34:59.89\00:35:02.13 But we want to thank you for your dedication 00:35:02.16\00:35:05.20 and your compassion as well as for Scheer Memorial hospital 00:35:05.23\00:35:09.30 and for Asian Aid. 00:35:09.34\00:35:11.04 And we truly want to thank you at home who had supported 00:35:11.07\00:35:15.61 both of these ministries and it's still as you heard 00:35:15.64\00:35:19.01 Dr. Mole say, they're still in need, 00:35:19.05\00:35:21.62 a great need in Nepal and Scheer Memorial hospital 00:35:21.65\00:35:24.65 still has a great need for funding. 00:35:24.69\00:35:26.86 I know my husband and I personally supported this 00:35:26.89\00:35:29.66 as we also support Asian Aid and you know, 00:35:29.69\00:35:34.70 I don't say that in a prideful way, 00:35:34.73\00:35:36.80 it's something that when some of us can only, 00:35:36.83\00:35:41.37 we can support every work out there 00:35:41.40\00:35:43.81 and sometimes we can always support by prayer. 00:35:43.84\00:35:48.04 But I believe that there's times that we have to make 00:35:48.08\00:35:50.85 a sacrifice in realize that what a $100 could 00:35:50.88\00:35:54.32 do for you here. 00:35:54.35\00:35:56.25 It's very little compared to what $100 can do in Nepal. 00:35:56.28\00:35:59.82 And sometimes that sacrifice brings 00:35:59.85\00:36:02.29 back a 100 fold return on it. 00:36:02.32\00:36:05.13 So we want to thank all of our viewers 00:36:05.16\00:36:07.53 who have already supported. 00:36:07.56\00:36:09.60 If you would like to continue to support, 00:36:09.63\00:36:11.60 you can go to asianaid.org and just click 00:36:11.63\00:36:16.30 on the Scheer Memorial hospital link were you can support that. 00:36:16.34\00:36:21.11 Gentlemen, do you have a final thought that you would like 00:36:21.14\00:36:23.88 to leave with our viewers. 00:36:23.91\00:36:25.88 Well, I've, you know, one thing that just to help 00:36:25.91\00:36:30.49 express how desperate the situation is, 00:36:30.52\00:36:33.76 I mean, we have patients 00:36:33.79\00:36:36.69 that come in with attempted suicides. 00:36:36.73\00:36:40.43 Their situation is so desperate that they just can't see a way 00:36:40.46\00:36:47.04 to go on. 00:36:47.07\00:36:48.40 So again I would just appeal to your viewers to help 00:36:48.44\00:36:53.17 in any way they can, to assess the people of Nepal. 00:36:53.21\00:36:58.25 And I believe that's the earmark 00:36:58.28\00:37:00.98 of a Christian is to have compassion and generosity. 00:37:01.02\00:37:04.95 Dr. Dale Mole, thank you for your work, 00:37:04.99\00:37:07.09 thank you for being here today. 00:37:07.12\00:37:09.02 Jim Rennie, it's always a pleasure to have you here 00:37:09.06\00:37:11.99 and once again we want to thank 00:37:12.03\00:37:13.46 all of our viewers and stay tuned 00:37:13.50\00:37:15.56 for more interesting reports of the work that's been done 00:37:15.60\00:37:18.53 around the world, by the Lord through Seventh-day Adventists. 00:37:18.57\00:37:23.00 Thank you. 00:37:23.04\00:37:24.57 You know, you got to love the dedication 00:37:28.21\00:37:30.01 of our Adventists workers, our missionaries, 00:37:30.05\00:37:32.58 our medical personnel all around 00:37:32.61\00:37:34.48 the world, who are working under such adverse conditions 00:37:34.52\00:37:38.45 to do the work of the Lord. 00:37:38.49\00:37:40.02 Next up, John Lomacang had the opportunity to interview 00:37:40.06\00:37:45.13 Colonel David Stern Crockett, his fifth great grandson, 00:37:45.16\00:37:52.40 hisname is Ryan. 00:37:52.43\00:37:53.94 Ryan McCoy. 00:37:53.97\00:37:55.30 He's a speaker and director for Sealing Time Ministries. 00:37:55.34\00:37:59.44 This is a Bible based medium ministry, home based 00:37:59.47\00:38:02.48 and located just outside of Nampa, Idaho. 00:38:02.51\00:38:05.85 So there is connection between the Adventist Church 00:38:05.88\00:38:08.68 and the famous David Crocket. 00:38:08.72\00:38:10.39 This is a nice interview, you'll enjoy it. 00:38:10.42\00:38:12.82 Hello, friends. 00:38:15.19\00:38:16.52 This is John Lomacang coming to you from 00:38:16.56\00:38:18.43 the 60th General Conference session 00:38:18.46\00:38:20.93 here in San Antonio, Texas. 00:38:20.96\00:38:22.96 It's a wonderful time we are having here meeting 00:38:23.00\00:38:25.33 so many people that are not just a supporters of 3ABN 00:38:25.37\00:38:29.37 but also people that are on our programming, 00:38:29.40\00:38:32.54 people that are guests 00:38:32.57\00:38:33.91 on many of the shows that we have done. 00:38:33.94\00:38:36.01 And today I want to introduce you to someone 00:38:36.04\00:38:38.11 that to me is the real McCoy. His name is Ryan. 00:38:38.15\00:38:42.62 Ryan, so good to have you here today. 00:38:42.65\00:38:44.52 Thank you, John. 00:38:44.55\00:38:45.89 You know, I want the viewers to know why I kind of led 00:38:45.92\00:38:49.52 into the phrase that you are the "real McCoy" 00:38:49.56\00:38:52.06 and I want to add, your side burns kind of allude to that. 00:38:52.09\00:38:55.26 Tell us about who you are, a little about your background 00:38:55.30\00:38:58.67 and then we'll get to what you do right now 00:38:58.70\00:39:00.07 iin just a few moments. 00:39:00.10\00:39:01.90 Well, John, I'm the fifth great grandson of Colonel 00:39:01.94\00:39:06.91 and Congressmen David "Davy" as he was more well known, 00:39:06.94\00:39:11.81 Stern Crockett. 00:39:11.85\00:39:13.72 And he died at the Alamo, the famous battle in 1836 00:39:13.75\00:39:19.82 resulting-- really in the end in the state of Texas 00:39:19.85\00:39:23.93 and this has been a bastion year 00:39:23.96\00:39:27.06 of independence and freedom ever since. 00:39:27.10\00:39:30.13 And a lot of people just to remind you, 00:39:30.17\00:39:31.70 we are here in San Antonio, Texas 00:39:31.73\00:39:33.90 and the Alamo that very historical sport is not too far 00:39:33.94\00:39:38.04 away from the Alamo dome. 00:39:38.07\00:39:39.64 Last night I had a chance to go on the river walk, 00:39:39.67\00:39:42.11 boat ride and they talked about where it is 00:39:42.14\00:39:44.15 and I have yet to see it. 00:39:44.18\00:39:45.51 But just kind of-- just to reiterate "Davy" Crockett, 00:39:45.55\00:39:48.88 as many people know him as, Colonel "Davy" Crockett. 00:39:48.92\00:39:51.69 But he has a rich history. 00:39:51.72\00:39:53.79 A lot of people may remember him as "Davy" Crockett, 00:39:53.82\00:39:56.52 the guy that they have seen on television, 00:39:56.56\00:39:58.13 many movies that have been done about his life. 00:39:58.16\00:40:01.26 But he was also in a different branch of service. 00:40:01.30\00:40:03.57 Let's talk about that. 00:40:03.60\00:40:05.47 So he was well known as a Congressman, 00:40:05.50\00:40:10.57 you know, at the time. 00:40:10.61\00:40:12.57 He served several different terms. 00:40:12.61\00:40:15.94 There were a lot of different majors 00:40:15.98\00:40:18.11 that he was part of and as a result, 00:40:18.15\00:40:21.92 he was probably one of one account says, 00:40:21.95\00:40:24.85 he was the most feared Congressman at the time. 00:40:24.89\00:40:28.29 As well as of course, you know just being a folk hero, 00:40:28.32\00:40:31.23 he was well aware of based on what I understand in history 00:40:31.26\00:40:35.23 of the persona that was building around him. 00:40:35.26\00:40:39.03 He used it to his advantage to gain various ends 00:40:39.07\00:40:43.71 and been a frontiersman, you know. 00:40:43.74\00:40:46.24 He was a salt of the earth person. 00:40:46.27\00:40:50.55 He understood what it was really like out in the field. 00:40:50.58\00:40:54.02 And so when people say, "Remember the Alamo," 00:40:54.05\00:40:56.35 we are really in essence saying Colonel David Stern Crockett 00:40:56.38\00:41:01.82 had so much involvement in that. 00:41:01.86\00:41:05.36 We have a book I want to share with the-- 00:41:05.39\00:41:07.33 well, actually you're gonna share quotation 00:41:07.36\00:41:08.76 from that in just a few moments here. 00:41:08.80\00:41:10.50 But he was not only an individual, 00:41:10.53\00:41:12.00 that was as senator, a colonel in the army but... 00:41:12.03\00:41:17.31 In militia. In the militia. 00:41:17.34\00:41:18.77 In the militia, Tennessee militia. 00:41:18.81\00:41:20.14 And just give us an overview what that battle was all about 00:41:20.18\00:41:22.84 because you talked about "Remember the Alamo." 00:41:22.88\00:41:25.05 So the battle of the Alamo, Senator Crockett, 00:41:25.08\00:41:29.22 Colonel Crockett at the end of the time 00:41:29.25\00:41:31.32 came out interested in land. 00:41:31.35\00:41:33.99 He actually signed up as a private 00:41:34.02\00:41:35.79 at the age of 49 under Colonel Travis. 00:41:35.82\00:41:40.56 He ended up in this famous now battle of the Alamo 00:41:40.60\00:41:46.67 fighting for independence and Texian freedom, 00:41:46.70\00:41:49.77 I did not mispronounce that, Texian. 00:41:49.80\00:41:52.74 And it was a famous battle in part, 00:41:52.77\00:41:57.58 not because necessarily of his name 00:41:57.61\00:41:59.85 but because the odds were ridiculously against them. 00:41:59.88\00:42:05.92 Santa Anna brought thousands of men. 00:42:05.95\00:42:08.46 Some of them had marched 700 miles. 00:42:08.49\00:42:11.49 And when they arrived here, Santa Anna was known 00:42:11.53\00:42:15.16 for brutality and tyranny and he was there to put down 00:42:15.20\00:42:19.17 an insurrection or an uprising among the Texians. 00:42:19.20\00:42:23.71 You know, Colonel Travis and the others, 00:42:23.74\00:42:25.27 the Bowie, the Tennessee boys 00:42:25.31\00:42:28.74 and Colonel Crockett were all there. 00:42:28.78\00:42:34.05 And it was real confluence you could say 00:42:34.08\00:42:37.35 they are of perfect storm and they were outnumbered, 00:42:37.39\00:42:41.62 out gunned, everything was against them 00:42:41.66\00:42:45.59 and they chose to take a stand 00:42:45.63\00:42:50.40 even though they knew those odds were against them. 00:42:50.43\00:42:54.40 If you look in the memoirs, 00:42:54.44\00:42:55.87 he was well aware of the consequences 00:42:55.90\00:42:57.81 of his actions and that the enemy may 00:42:57.84\00:43:00.44 well take the ford. 00:43:00.48\00:43:01.81 But he dug his heels, and I want you to get that book 00:43:01.84\00:43:03.61 and share that quote, you know, what in called, 00:43:03.65\00:43:05.81 his famous last words as the battle was winding down. 00:43:05.85\00:43:09.12 Share that with me right now so that our listeners 00:43:09.15\00:43:12.39 and our viewers could know because this uprising, 00:43:12.42\00:43:17.33 this resistance that he was involved in was one well known. 00:43:17.36\00:43:21.96 I learnt about it in history, American history. 00:43:22.00\00:43:25.03 But it's amazing that I'm meeting someone 00:43:25.07\00:43:26.90 that's connected in the lineage and what he said in the closing 00:43:26.94\00:43:31.31 moments knowing that this battle was winding down. 00:43:31.34\00:43:35.94 There are some words that I like our audience 00:43:35.98\00:43:38.01 to remember of what he quoted that particular day. 00:43:38.05\00:43:40.82 It was actually included in this memoir. 00:43:40.85\00:43:43.92 So this memoir here, this is dated, printed 1865. 00:43:43.95\00:43:48.16 It's a 150 years old this year. So this is a very old book. 00:43:48.19\00:43:53.86 The very last words, March 5, 1836, was the year 00:43:53.90\00:44:01.14 and he says, "Pop, pop, pop! 00:44:01.17\00:44:03.77 Bom, bom, bom!" 00:44:03.81\00:44:05.57 Short for boom, boom, boom, "throughout the day." 00:44:05.61\00:44:08.84 They were under heavy canon fire, 00:44:08.88\00:44:11.08 the pages previous to this, he mentioned it as hail. 00:44:11.11\00:44:15.15 "No time for memorandums now. Go ahead! 00:44:15.18\00:44:18.59 Liberty and Independence forever." 00:44:18.62\00:44:21.42 And it says, here ends Colonel Crockett's manuscript. 00:44:21.46\00:44:24.83 Those are the very last words of David Crockett. 00:44:24.86\00:44:29.93 And the battle is still memorable today. 00:44:29.96\00:44:33.50 People that come to San Antonio, 00:44:33.54\00:44:36.04 they've told many of our constituents 00:44:36.07\00:44:37.94 that have come from all over the world, 00:44:37.97\00:44:39.41 dont forget the alamo, remember the Alamo." 00:44:39.44\00:44:42.51 But there's also something else in his lineage 00:44:42.54\00:44:45.21 from the grand son of David Crockett 00:44:45.25\00:44:48.55 on the issue of religious liberty. 00:44:48.58\00:44:50.55 Talk about that today. 00:44:50.59\00:44:51.92 Yeah, so in 1885, 00:44:51.95\00:44:56.56 Senator Robert Hamilton Crockett, 00:44:56.59\00:44:59.53 he is an indirect relation of mine 00:44:59.56\00:45:02.00 but through David Crockett, still a family relation. 00:45:02.03\00:45:07.07 There was Sunday laws 00:45:07.10\00:45:08.90 on the books in the State of Arkansas 00:45:08.94\00:45:11.04 and this is-- he was senator in the State of Arkansas. 00:45:11.07\00:45:15.91 It came to his attention that there was a lot 00:45:15.94\00:45:18.21 of persecution going on. 00:45:18.25\00:45:19.91 Right. 00:45:19.95\00:45:21.32 There was one story in particular, 00:45:21.35\00:45:23.59 that is, just heart-wrenching 00:45:23.62\00:45:26.25 of what happened to one family. 00:45:26.29\00:45:28.52 And as a result, he went into the senate 00:45:28.56\00:45:33.33 in Arkansas and he related the number of stories. 00:45:33.36\00:45:36.56 I'll read just a few sentences from Liberty Magazine. 00:45:36.60\00:45:41.37 1939, second quarter and this is about page 17. 00:45:41.40\00:45:46.24 Okay. 00:45:46.27\00:45:47.61 "Senator Crockett mentioned scores of cases 00:45:47.64\00:45:50.35 were Seventh-day Adventists 00:45:50.38\00:45:51.71 and Seventh-day Baptists have been fined 00:45:51.75\00:45:53.95 and imprisoned for no other crime 00:45:53.98\00:45:55.92 than resting on the seventh day of the week 00:45:55.95\00:45:58.45 and working on the other six days 00:45:58.49\00:46:00.52 as God had commanded them to do. 00:46:00.56\00:46:03.39 He told how they had settled in the days in Arkansas 00:46:03.43\00:46:06.36 while it was yet a wilderness 00:46:06.39\00:46:07.73 filled with the howl of the wolf 00:46:07.76\00:46:09.10 and the scream of the panther and the wail of the wild cat. 00:46:09.13\00:46:12.57 They soon changed the wilderness, the prairies, 00:46:12.60\00:46:14.87 the valleys into a veritable paradise. 00:46:14.90\00:46:17.81 These people, many of them said he, Seventh-day Adventists and 00:46:17.84\00:46:21.04 and Seventh-day Baptists, 00:46:21.08\00:46:22.41 these are people who religiously 00:46:22.44\00:46:23.78 and conscientiously keep Saturday, 00:46:23.81\00:46:25.41 the seventh day as the Sabbath," 00:46:25.45\00:46:28.12 and it goes on. 00:46:28.15\00:46:29.85 So this issue that we're looking 00:46:29.98\00:46:31.42 at that shaping the future of America 00:46:31.45\00:46:34.46 and has become an issue around the world's 00:46:34.49\00:46:36.29 Sabbath versus Sunday was not new. 00:46:36.32\00:46:39.09 It was something that our earlier pioneers 00:46:39.13\00:46:41.26 in America had faced and addressed 00:46:41.30\00:46:43.06 that very same issue. 00:46:43.10\00:46:44.43 And so as a result of his impassionate plea 00:46:44.47\00:46:47.17 to the senate, there were laws immediately 00:46:47.20\00:46:49.90 put back on the Adventists were put on to the books. 00:46:49.94\00:46:56.95 So this, you know, the Crockett line and family has a history 00:46:56.98\00:47:00.95 of standing up for what they believe and it actually has 00:47:00.98\00:47:04.29 relations to our Seventh-day Adventists church. 00:47:04.32\00:47:06.12 Praise the Lord for that. 00:47:06.15\00:47:07.49 Now I want to get to your story very quickly. 00:47:07.52\00:47:08.86 We don't have a lot of time. 00:47:08.89\00:47:10.23 This is kind of a viney ard of an interview. 00:47:10.26\00:47:11.73 Tell us about you coming to the Lord 00:47:11.76\00:47:13.46 and then we'll talk about your ministry. 00:47:13.50\00:47:15.33 So in my early 20s I drifted out the church 00:47:15.36\00:47:19.33 as a result, you know it's a long story. 00:47:19.37\00:47:21.74 But I ended up owning 00:47:21.77\00:47:24.17 a little land out in the middle of no where. 00:47:24.21\00:47:25.87 And Manistee National Forests surrounded us. 00:47:25.91\00:47:29.94 No electricity, no water. 00:47:29.98\00:47:32.15 You could kind of liken it to a Doug Batchelor's story 00:47:32.18\00:47:34.15 minus the cave. 00:47:34.18\00:47:35.52 Minus the cave. 00:47:35.55\00:47:37.12 But as a result, 00:47:37.15\00:47:39.19 you know I have a lot of time to think about God. 00:47:39.22\00:47:40.79 I have a lot of time to read. 00:47:40.82\00:47:42.22 Right. 00:47:42.26\00:47:43.63 I decided that I would get a 3ABN dish. 00:47:43.66\00:47:48.20 Now without electricity that's a bit of a challenge. 00:47:48.23\00:47:50.80 But we would run a generator, use batteries at first 00:47:50.83\00:47:53.80 and those things to watch 3ABN. 00:47:53.84\00:47:56.50 As a result I became convicted that I really needed to go back 00:47:56.54\00:47:59.94 to church to pay my tithe, of all things. 00:47:59.97\00:48:02.41 You know, I knew the truth. That wasn't anything new. 00:48:02.44\00:48:06.15 But as a result we decided to go back to church, 00:48:06.18\00:48:08.88 pay our tithe and the result of that, 00:48:08.92\00:48:11.49 when God promises that "He'll pour out a blessing, 00:48:11.52\00:48:13.76 you can't receive," He follows through with that. 00:48:13.79\00:48:16.73 And it was just incredible what happened after that 00:48:16.76\00:48:19.79 and we got into ministering. 00:48:19.83\00:48:21.93 And the Lord-- 00:48:21.96\00:48:23.30 I like what you said a moment ago, convicted. 00:48:23.33\00:48:25.03 Recently I was toying with the two statements, 00:48:25.07\00:48:27.30 convicted and converted. 00:48:27.34\00:48:28.80 A lot of people are convicted about the truth, 00:48:28.84\00:48:30.91 convicted about the Sabbath, 00:48:30.94\00:48:32.37 the truth of the state of the dead 00:48:32.41\00:48:33.74 and the sanctuary, but they are not converted. 00:48:33.78\00:48:35.94 So these truths that you were convicted of in your past, 00:48:35.98\00:48:39.31 didn't at that-- up until that point lead to conversion. 00:48:39.35\00:48:42.18 Now you're converted and convicted. 00:48:42.22\00:48:44.02 My 30th birthday, I was outside, 00:48:44.05\00:48:47.09 after watching 3ABN, 00:48:47.12\00:48:48.59 I was outside enjoying the sunshine. 00:48:48.62\00:48:51.33 I just finished the book Desire of Ages. 00:48:51.36\00:48:53.50 It was Sabbath morning, I was not in church 00:48:53.53\00:48:56.33 and the Lord spoke at my 30th birthday, 00:48:56.36\00:49:00.04 the Lord spoke into my mind at that morning and he said, 00:49:00.07\00:49:02.37 "Ryan, today is your 30th birthday, 00:49:02.40\00:49:05.07 My Son began His ministry for Me on His 30th birthday. 00:49:05.11\00:49:10.15 What are you doing for me?" 00:49:10.18\00:49:12.05 And the rest of the day, I have to be honest, 00:49:12.08\00:49:14.45 I really didn't have much to say. 00:49:14.48\00:49:16.38 I was dumbfounded and thought. 00:49:16.42\00:49:21.06 And as a result you began a ministry 00:49:21.09\00:49:22.59 called Sealing Time Ministry. 00:49:22.62\00:49:24.96 Tell us about that briefly. 00:49:24.99\00:49:26.56 Yes, so Sealing Time Ministries is a multifaceted ministry. 00:49:26.59\00:49:31.00 We produce video, 00:49:31.03\00:49:33.00 we have produced thousands of hour video for now 00:49:33.03\00:49:36.77 for 140 Adventists speakers so far. 00:49:36.81\00:49:40.58 You being one of them. They had me greeting guest. 00:50:45.97\00:50:48.81 It was a huge honor. 00:50:48.84\00:50:51.65 As a result, of course, 00:50:51.68\00:50:53.92 you know, because of religious liberty 00:50:53.95\00:50:55.48 and those things, there's a number of different 00:50:55.52\00:50:59.32 avenues of interest that happened because of that. 00:50:59.35\00:51:04.39 As a result, 00:51:04.43\00:51:06.46 because of the family heritage and those things, 00:51:06.49\00:51:09.36 so they gave me the flag from-- 00:51:09.40\00:51:12.60 that was flown over the Alamo on the fourth of July 2015, 00:51:12.63\00:51:16.77 during our GC session here. 00:51:16.81\00:51:18.44 Amazing. 00:51:18.47\00:51:19.81 And then we've got a certificate as well 00:51:19.84\00:51:22.84 as to that fact. 00:51:22.88\00:51:25.91 Look at that, look at that. 00:51:25.95\00:51:27.28 And that was just recently given to you 00:51:27.32\00:51:28.65 'cause I'm looking at the dates July 4, 2015. 00:51:28.68\00:51:30.82 Yes, this was given a few days ago to me. 00:51:30.85\00:51:33.82 And so it's certifies both the flag here 00:51:33.86\00:51:35.96 and my family heritage as well. 00:51:35.99\00:51:39.29 That's wonderful. 00:51:39.33\00:51:40.66 Now as you think of the future of Sealing Time Ministries, 00:51:40.70\00:51:46.03 what would you say to those that are watching this program 00:51:46.07\00:51:48.30 and I want to wind up with the quotation 00:51:48.34\00:51:50.71 that was included in that article. 00:51:50.74\00:51:52.47 I'll share that with our viewers. 00:51:52.51\00:51:54.08 What would you say to encourage individuals? 00:51:54.11\00:51:55.94 Because we are living, I believe, in the sealing time. 00:51:55.98\00:51:58.58 I think that's a part of it and also highlighting 00:51:58.61\00:52:01.12 you do accept invitations, am I correct? 00:52:01.15\00:52:03.72 Yes, so I actually am a student of eschatology. 00:52:03.75\00:52:08.12 I very much enjoy studying it. 00:52:08.16\00:52:10.43 That's one of the things that I was doing out there. 00:52:10.46\00:52:12.26 I was doing a lot of study. 00:52:12.29\00:52:14.00 Yes, I do speaking engagements. 00:52:14.03\00:52:15.70 We have traveled all over the US, 00:52:15.73\00:52:17.37 even outside of the US. 00:52:17.40\00:52:19.90 Just recently I began to share more of the family history. 00:52:19.93\00:52:24.01 As a result, the family history, 00:52:24.04\00:52:26.27 David Crockett knew 00:52:26.31\00:52:27.64 what it meant to draw line in the sand. 00:52:27.68\00:52:30.61 He knew what it meant to take a stand for what he believes. 00:52:30.65\00:52:34.18 And as we head into these last days, 00:52:34.22\00:52:36.62 regardless of whether we wanted to or not, 00:52:36.65\00:52:39.02 there are lines been drawn in the sand 00:52:39.05\00:52:41.39 and everyone of us needs to know where we stand. 00:52:41.42\00:52:43.59 Wow, praise the Lord. 00:52:43.63\00:52:44.96 Well, Ryan, it's good to have you here today. 00:52:44.99\00:52:46.33 But before we wind up, I want to read this quotation 00:52:46.36\00:52:48.33 that was featured in that article 00:52:48.36\00:52:50.10 of the Adventist Review. 00:52:50.13\00:52:51.47 It said and I'm quoting you, 00:52:51.50\00:52:53.20 "It doesn't take a whole lot of people 00:52:53.23\00:52:55.50 to make a difference in this world." 00:52:55.54\00:52:58.21 Ryan, thank you for allowing the Lord to use you, 00:52:58.24\00:53:01.08 to make a difference, not only in your lineage 00:53:01.11\00:53:04.08 but we are truly living in the time of the sealing 00:53:04.11\00:53:06.61 and the Lord has the people standing firmly 00:53:06.65\00:53:09.15 for sharing the truth 00:53:09.18\00:53:10.62 and getting other people ready for the time in which we live. 00:53:10.65\00:53:13.05 God bless you, thank you so much for being here. 00:53:13.09\00:53:15.02 And friends, may the Lord continue 00:53:15.06\00:53:16.42 blessing you here at GC, 2015. 00:53:16.46\00:53:19.49 One of the things that we are constantly impressed by 00:53:24.43\00:53:27.24 is the fact that God is doing so very many things 00:53:27.27\00:53:30.21 on so many different fronts 00:53:30.24\00:53:32.47 to promote the gospel around the world. 00:53:32.51\00:53:34.81 They are ministries like 3ABN, 00:53:34.84\00:53:36.91 which has the opportunity to highlight other ministries. 00:53:36.95\00:53:40.38 But one of the things that we see is that 00:53:40.42\00:53:42.05 there is really no place on planet earth 00:53:42.08\00:53:43.89 where men and women are 00:53:43.92\00:53:45.35 where they are not people of God, 00:53:45.39\00:53:47.26 people of goodwill 00:53:47.29\00:53:48.82 who are lifting up the mighty and matchless name of Jesus. 00:53:48.86\00:53:51.56 Three very unique ministries that are all very contemporary 00:53:51.59\00:53:56.03 in their affect and effect. 00:53:56.06\00:53:59.03 One, "Tell the World," 00:53:59.07\00:54:00.50 a movie, a film about the history of the church. 00:54:00.54\00:54:05.81 Two, a hospital mission, medical ministry under attack 00:54:05.84\00:54:10.05 by the forces of nature. 00:54:10.08\00:54:11.91 And then this fifth great grandson 00:54:11.95\00:54:15.02 of the famous Davy Crockett doing what he can 00:54:15.05\00:54:19.39 to lift up the name of Jesus. 00:54:19.42\00:54:20.96 We'll go to our news break. 00:54:20.99\00:54:22.32 Then we'll be back with the closing thought. 00:54:22.36\00:54:24.46
