I want to spend my life 00:00:01.70\00:00:06.35 Mending broken people 00:00:07.51\00:00:13.08 I want to spend my life 00:00:13.11\00:00:18.72 Removing pain 00:00:18.75\00:00:22.34 Lord, let my words 00:00:23.82\00:00:28.48 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:29.81\00:00:34.64 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.67\00:00:40.25 Mending broken people 00:00:40.28\00:00:45.85 I want to spend my life 00:00:45.88\00:00:51.44 Mending broken people 00:00:51.47\00:00:56.11 Hello, friends. 00:01:08.21\00:01:09.29 Welcome to another 3ABN today program. 00:01:09.32\00:01:12.86 My name is John Lomacang encouraging program 00:01:19.32\00:01:23.26 as our guest today is going to walk you 00:01:23.29\00:01:25.02 through the experiences of her life 00:01:25.05\00:01:27.05 letting you know that God 00:01:27.08\00:01:28.73 has been there with her in the beginning, 00:01:28.76\00:01:30.55 He is with her today 00:01:30.58\00:01:31.72 and He promises never to leave and never to forsake. 00:01:31.75\00:01:36.02 Many of us face trials and challenges, 00:01:36.05\00:01:39.13 some of them are more than just natural. 00:01:39.16\00:01:42.17 Some of them are spiritualistic and you will find out 00:01:42.20\00:01:45.07 from our guest today how you handle those moments 00:01:45.10\00:01:47.85 when those attacks come into your life. 00:01:47.88\00:01:51.55 She is an author and encourager 00:01:51.58\00:01:53.09 and you will get a chance to meet her in just a few moments. 00:01:53.12\00:01:55.87 But if you are part of our 3ABN family 00:01:55.90\00:01:57.81 we thank you for your prayers 00:01:57.84\00:01:59.62 and also for your financial support 00:01:59.65\00:02:01.82 which makes it possible for this ministry 00:02:01.85\00:02:04.31 to continue going and growing 00:02:04.34\00:02:05.87 as we prepare for the soon coming of our Savior. 00:02:05.90\00:02:09.30 Today, just before you meet our guest we have a song 00:02:09.33\00:02:11.98 by young man that's gonna be playing Johan Sentana 00:02:12.01\00:02:15.32 and he is gonna be playing a song on piano entitled 00:02:15.35\00:02:18.61 "Abide With Me." 00:02:18.64\00:02:20.51 Thank you so much for that song 00:07:45.58\00:07:47.25 "Abide With Me." 00:07:47.28\00:07:48.45 You know it sets the stage to segue from the thoughts 00:07:48.48\00:07:52.66 that the song brings to our mind 00:07:52.69\00:07:54.20 to the meaning of this program 00:07:54.23\00:07:56.42 how God chooses to abide with His people 00:07:56.45\00:07:59.66 every moment of every day through the good times 00:07:59.69\00:08:02.87 and through the bad times. 00:08:02.90\00:08:04.99 And so allow us at this time to introduce you to our guest. 00:08:05.02\00:08:09.88 Helen Heavirland, good to have you here today. 00:08:09.91\00:08:11.98 Thank you. 00:08:12.01\00:08:13.04 I'm so close I'll reach out and shake your hand. 00:08:13.07\00:08:15.60 And you are very interesting person. 00:08:15.63\00:08:19.93 We had a chance to talk before the interview 00:08:19.96\00:08:22.98 to find out a little bit about your life how-- 00:08:23.01\00:08:26.02 and so those who are watching and listening to the program 00:08:26.05\00:08:29.03 I'm gonna give you the opportunity now 00:08:29.06\00:08:30.39 to tell them who you are, where you are from, 00:08:30.42\00:08:32.91 and a little bit more on what you do right now. 00:08:32.94\00:08:36.25 Well, I grew up in a home that read stories. 00:08:36.28\00:08:40.29 Okay. 00:08:40.32\00:08:41.37 Christian stories, inspirational stories, 00:08:41.40\00:08:43.61 nature stories. 00:08:43.64\00:08:45.24 And I really believe that the beginnings 00:08:45.27\00:08:48.96 of my training for what God has called me to do 00:08:48.99\00:08:52.16 started before I could even understand the words 00:08:52.19\00:08:55.49 of the stories as my dad would read to our whole family, 00:08:55.52\00:09:00.19 to my older brothers and sisters who understood. 00:09:00.22\00:09:02.99 But I was too young at first but yet the cadence of story 00:09:03.02\00:09:06.19 just began to be in my mind and it was a Christian home 00:09:06.22\00:09:10.40 for which I'm very thankful 00:09:10.43\00:09:12.63 and through the years 00:09:12.66\00:09:14.75 I grew up, went to-- became a nurse, 00:09:14.78\00:09:19.82 grew up on a farm 00:09:19.85\00:09:21.91 and then married 00:09:21.94\00:09:27.05 and my husband had-- has a business 00:09:27.08\00:09:30.22 and I became his bookkeeper and secretary 00:09:30.25\00:09:34.87 and but for the small family business 00:09:34.90\00:09:36.85 and life was going along fine. 00:09:36.88\00:09:41.43 And then-- then I've always enjoyed words 00:09:41.46\00:09:45.78 and I have always would kind of write a lot of things 00:09:45.81\00:09:49.29 but I never published anything at least not much. 00:09:49.32\00:09:52.65 And then on my 40th birthday 00:09:52.68\00:09:56.28 I remember thinking about the number of candles 00:09:56.31\00:09:59.79 and thinking, you know, there is a verse 00:09:59.82\00:10:03.13 that talks about three score and ten. 00:10:03.16\00:10:06.45 If we have 70 years I am more than halfway there. 00:10:06.48\00:10:10.61 And if I was ever going to write, 00:10:10.64\00:10:13.79 maybe I ought to get started. 00:10:13.82\00:10:15.47 Okay. 00:10:15.50\00:10:17.05 I started writing. 00:10:17.08\00:10:18.28 So diving into the cadence of life saying okay, 00:10:18.31\00:10:21.21 if there is ever a good time 00:10:21.24\00:10:22.35 to begin what I'm enjoying this is a good time. 00:10:22.38\00:10:25.12 Where is home for you though? Where is it? 00:10:25.15\00:10:26.85 I live in the Walla Walla Valley 00:10:26.88\00:10:28.49 right out on the Oregon and Washington State borders. 00:10:28.52\00:10:32.32 Okay. 00:10:32.35\00:10:33.53 Now was that you were raised in that area? 00:10:33.56\00:10:36.83 I was raised first in the coastal mountains of Oregon 00:10:36.86\00:10:39.68 and then in the around Tri-Cities 00:10:39.71\00:10:42.78 in Washington in the eastern desert 00:10:42.81\00:10:45.84 there and my family was among the very first farmers 00:10:45.87\00:10:49.99 that went into the Columbia Basin Irrigation District 00:10:50.02\00:10:53.61 which is the area below the Grand Coulee Dam. 00:10:53.64\00:10:56.63 We went in when it was desert and broke sod. 00:10:56.66\00:10:59.47 I feel like kind of belong with people-- 00:10:59.50\00:11:01.10 Like a pioneer. Yes. 00:11:01.13\00:11:02.53 Like a-- we were pioneers. Wow. 00:11:02.56\00:11:05.03 You know, when I think of the north west 00:11:05.06\00:11:07.00 I look at so much of the green trees 00:11:07.03\00:11:09.73 and the beautifully landscaped mountains 00:11:09.76\00:11:12.67 and its hard to think of desert being up west. 00:11:12.70\00:11:15.20 But I know, I know where the Grand Coulee Dam is. 00:11:15.23\00:11:18.96 So there was some desert at the 00:11:18.99\00:11:20.23 or is it a still desert out there? 00:11:20.26\00:11:22.20 There is still some desert 00:11:22.23\00:11:23.71 but now there is miles and miles of fields, 00:11:23.74\00:11:28.40 vineyards, orchids, farmers fields of all kinds of crops. 00:11:28.43\00:11:33.21 Wheat, of just all kinds of crops, potatoes et cetera. 00:11:33.24\00:11:37.63 And such a peaceful setting allows you 00:11:37.66\00:11:39.15 to really commune with God and growing up on that farm. 00:11:39.18\00:11:42.67 How many siblings are there? 00:11:42.70\00:11:45.74 Well, there are six of us 00:11:45.77\00:11:47.70 but we are very far spread apart so-- 00:11:47.73\00:11:52.22 so I kind of-- it's like some of us 00:11:52.25\00:11:54.59 grew up almost as only children 00:11:54.62\00:11:56.16 because our older siblings were quite a bit older 00:11:56.19\00:11:58.56 and now younger siblings quite a bit younger. 00:11:58.59\00:12:00.92 And I had no brothers my age 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.37 so I was chief tractor driver. 00:12:02.40\00:12:04.54 Oh, so you, you really know 00:12:04.57\00:12:06.06 how to use farm equipment if you have to. 00:12:06.09\00:12:08.01 Yep. Wow. 00:12:08.04\00:12:09.55 And you talked about being a nurse, 00:12:09.58\00:12:11.53 that was when you decided to start writing 00:12:11.56\00:12:14.53 that was already a part of your profession? 00:12:14.56\00:12:16.27 Yes. Yeah. 00:12:16.30\00:12:17.57 I had already worked for nursing 00:12:17.60\00:12:18.92 for a number of years and then had gone on to being 00:12:18.95\00:12:22.30 a homemaker and the bookkeeper 00:12:22.33\00:12:24.61 and secretary. 00:12:24.64\00:12:25.72 We talked about being raised in a Christian family, 00:12:25.75\00:12:28.58 when did your Christian relationship 00:12:28.61\00:12:30.07 become more personal with the Lord? 00:12:30.10\00:12:31.77 You know, lot of times 00:12:31.80\00:12:32.84 we are raised in Christian home 00:12:32.87\00:12:33.90 but we don't inherit Christ. 00:12:33.93\00:12:35.51 Right. Talk about your conversion. 00:12:35.54\00:12:38.87 It was a slow thing for me 00:12:38.90\00:12:41.72 and step by step I came closer to Jesus 00:12:41.75\00:12:45.57 and I think one of the early times was, 00:12:45.60\00:12:48.93 early in high school when I just realized 00:12:48.96\00:12:53.10 that God really cared about me 00:12:53.13\00:12:55.24 as a young person and began to recognize 00:12:55.27\00:13:00.27 God's love for me on a personal basis. 00:13:00.30\00:13:04.57 He did and absolutely amazing miracle for me 00:13:04.60\00:13:07.00 when I was a sophomore and in high school and then, 00:13:07.03\00:13:12.44 and then in college as I took the class 00:13:12.47\00:13:15.86 Life and Teachings of Jesus. 00:13:15.89\00:13:18.08 And one day in my own devotions 00:13:18.11\00:13:21.55 read the statement about how God or how Jesus 00:13:21.58\00:13:25.88 would have died, you know, come to this earth, 00:13:25.91\00:13:28.85 gone through everything 00:13:28.88\00:13:29.91 He went through, gone to the cross 00:13:29.94\00:13:32.19 if only one person had sinned. 00:13:32.22\00:13:35.13 Wow. 00:13:35.16\00:13:36.19 And God just touched my heart that could have been me 00:13:36.22\00:13:40.22 that Jesus did that for me personally 00:13:40.25\00:13:44.17 and that was a very much 00:13:44.20\00:13:46.61 a deepening of the relationship with Him. 00:13:46.64\00:13:48.17 Wow. 00:13:48.20\00:13:49.25 You know, that is true when you think about well, 00:13:49.28\00:13:51.28 it is so easy to say, for God so loved the word 00:13:51.31\00:13:54.30 but its something all together different to say, 00:13:54.33\00:13:56.31 for God so loved me. 00:13:56.34\00:13:58.64 And that personal connection has not only value 00:13:58.67\00:14:01.40 but also helps us understand His intense love for us. 00:14:01.43\00:14:06.13 And then those phrases like 00:14:06.16\00:14:07.35 I will never leave You, never forsake You, 00:14:07.38\00:14:09.40 I'll be with You till the end always you think well, 00:14:09.43\00:14:12.88 who else will He be with, it's just Him and me. 00:14:12.91\00:14:15.38 And that's really, that's really wonderful. 00:14:15.41\00:14:16.80 And everyone else too but He is with each of us 00:14:16.83\00:14:20.94 as if we were the only one. 00:14:20.97\00:14:22.95 That's right. 00:14:22.98\00:14:24.29 That's wonderful. 00:14:24.32\00:14:25.79 Now, the desire to write, 00:14:25.82\00:14:30.06 talk about that because a lot of us, 00:14:30.09\00:14:32.26 you know, we wheedle, we've heard of young people, 00:14:32.29\00:14:35.42 most young girls being raised with a diary. 00:14:35.45\00:14:38.63 I don't know if you had a diary 00:14:38.66\00:14:40.10 but where did the desire to even start writing 00:14:40.13\00:14:42.43 or start penning your thoughts begin? 00:14:42.46\00:14:47.76 Well, probably on the tractor. Okay. 00:14:47.79\00:14:51.54 I mean, you have a lot of hours out there driving tractor, 00:14:51.57\00:14:54.01 moving the hay or bailing it or whatever you are doing 00:14:54.04\00:14:59.24 and my mind was always going doing something 00:14:59.27\00:15:03.51 and I would write poetry and in my mind 00:15:03.54\00:15:07.03 and you know and write stories in my mind. 00:15:07.06\00:15:10.20 And again that came from hearing stories all the time. 00:15:10.23\00:15:13.11 Mission stories and you know, but anyway I would in my mind 00:15:13.14\00:15:18.95 I wrote even though I was on the tractor 00:15:18.98\00:15:21.63 and I never had pen in hand. 00:15:21.66\00:15:23.78 But then when I went to school, academy and college 00:15:23.81\00:15:28.48 if I had a writing assignment 00:15:28.51\00:15:31.01 that was a major part of my grade 00:15:31.04\00:15:32.78 I do pretty good in that class because the writing classes 00:15:32.81\00:15:37.02 I just almost always did really well in those. 00:15:37.05\00:15:40.38 As long I had a term paper 00:15:40.41\00:15:41.85 that was a major part of my grade 00:15:41.88\00:15:43.89 got a good grade in that class. 00:15:43.92\00:15:45.19 And so I think God blessed with an ability to write 00:15:45.22\00:15:49.74 and you know, I recognized it but I-- 00:15:49.77\00:15:53.70 until then I had never kept a diary. 00:15:53.73\00:15:55.48 It wasn't until years later that I started journaling 00:15:55.51\00:15:58.71 and writing my thoughts down that way. 00:15:58.74\00:16:02.57 You know, I knew a young man from the country of Norway 00:16:02.60\00:16:06.91 and he was just an amazing young man from Jan. 00:16:06.94\00:16:11.36 From his young days he would write an entry 00:16:11.39\00:16:15.05 into a journal every single day and he never stopped. 00:16:15.08\00:16:17.91 He is still doing that today. 00:16:17.94\00:16:19.54 He has I would say volumes of his life. 00:16:19.57\00:16:23.06 I was asking, I said to him, what's the purpose? 00:16:23.09\00:16:26.25 That he said, I'm chronicling my life so one day 00:16:26.28\00:16:28.25 it will be a benefit to someone. 00:16:28.28\00:16:29.85 But every morning he wakes up he writes something down 00:16:29.88\00:16:32.10 what he did today and I traveled with him 00:16:32.13\00:16:33.52 for two years and saw him do that. 00:16:33.55\00:16:35.77 What are you writing? 00:16:35.80\00:16:36.87 I'm writing what I did yesterday. 00:16:36.90\00:16:37.93 What are you writing? 00:16:37.96\00:16:38.99 I'm writing what I did yesterday 00:16:39.02\00:16:40.05 and what my day was like in my devotions. 00:16:40.08\00:16:41.91 And so that's that kind of personal chronological 00:16:41.94\00:16:44.13 walk through our lives. 00:16:44.16\00:16:47.11 And at this point a lot of my journaling 00:16:47.14\00:16:50.34 is its almost like a prayer journal, 00:16:50.37\00:16:51.79 a devotional journal 00:16:51.82\00:16:53.30 and it has been a real encouragement to me myself 00:16:53.33\00:16:56.99 as I look back sometimes at how, you know, 00:16:57.02\00:17:01.00 how God taught me in my devotions that morning. 00:17:01.03\00:17:04.48 And I will think about what was that 00:17:04.51\00:17:07.26 that was so inspiring to me and I look back 00:17:07.29\00:17:09.68 and it has been a real blessing to me to journal. 00:17:09.71\00:17:14.27 And as you are thinking God's thoughts and you speak them 00:17:14.30\00:17:19.40 or you write them they are just-- 00:17:19.43\00:17:23.50 they go more deeply into your brain and somehow 00:17:23.53\00:17:27.70 I need Him, you know, with me and I need that 00:17:27.73\00:17:32.04 His presence in me into me that's a help. 00:17:32.07\00:17:35.58 And the journal and actually becomes a part of our journey. 00:17:35.61\00:17:38.51 Absolutely. 00:17:38.54\00:17:39.57 If you go back and you look 00:17:39.60\00:17:40.66 and like a prayer journal. 00:17:40.69\00:17:42.15 My wife and I have-- we go back and we look in it 00:17:42.18\00:17:45.12 and we look at the dates because whenever 00:17:45.15\00:17:46.39 we write a prayer we remember the dates 00:17:46.42\00:17:48.29 and we go back couple of years and remember wow, 00:17:48.32\00:17:51.33 remember that and just all of the sudden 00:17:51.36\00:17:53.52 the thought comes back to our mind and reminds us 00:17:53.55\00:17:56.11 with that personal connection with God. 00:17:56.14\00:17:58.35 Now in the journaling part of your life 00:17:58.38\00:17:59.88 and in the writing part and thinking your thoughts 00:17:59.91\00:18:02.08 and eventually penning those thoughts 00:18:02.11\00:18:04.22 one day your life was catapulted into this call 00:18:04.25\00:18:08.03 on your life to go ahead and being to be an offer. 00:18:08.06\00:18:12.71 There was a young man that you heard his testimony. 00:18:12.74\00:18:16.39 Matter of fact when I say young man 00:18:16.42\00:18:18.55 I do that respectfully. 00:18:18.58\00:18:19.84 My wife's manager she works over 3ABN radio Jay Christian, 00:18:19.87\00:18:26.36 you heard him tell us testimony one day about his entrance 00:18:26.39\00:18:30.28 into the occult world and you were in that crowd. 00:18:30.31\00:18:33.74 Tell us what it was like that particular day 00:18:33.77\00:18:35.67 when you were listening to that testimony? 00:18:35.70\00:18:39.72 I was moved by his testimony and moved 00:18:39.75\00:18:42.19 about how God had reached out to him and drawn him. 00:18:42.22\00:18:47.51 About the things that caught him up 00:18:47.54\00:18:51.42 and into a direction that was not towards God 00:18:51.45\00:18:57.37 but how God never gave upon him, 00:18:57.40\00:18:59.47 kept reaching and drawing him to Himself. 00:18:59.50\00:19:02.60 And I just was somehow it just fascinated me 00:19:02.63\00:19:06.63 and-- you know, 00:19:06.66\00:19:11.41 I was thinking more of it 00:19:11.44\00:19:12.83 except on the way out of the building that day. 00:19:12.86\00:19:17.02 I had an impression 00:19:17.05\00:19:18.52 you ought to offer to write Jay story. 00:19:18.55\00:19:23.03 And I just put that out of my mind 00:19:23.06\00:19:26.32 and it came back again as we were going through 00:19:26.35\00:19:28.37 the four year I just laughed. 00:19:28.40\00:19:30.70 And my husband said, what are you laughing about? 00:19:30.73\00:19:35.65 And I said, oh, nothing. 00:19:35.68\00:19:37.27 Anyway the impression just kept coming back 00:19:37.30\00:19:39.38 and I pushed it off and pushed it off. 00:19:39.41\00:19:41.50 I couldn't-- at first I didn't-- 00:19:41.53\00:19:44.57 I just thought it was funny idea but I came to realize 00:19:44.60\00:19:47.26 that it probably was God calling 00:19:47.29\00:19:49.71 but I did not feel adequate to write a book. 00:19:49.74\00:19:52.29 I had written by this time a number of short things 00:19:52.32\00:19:54.80 and had a number of things published but never a book. 00:19:54.83\00:19:58.49 And I didn't feel adequate to write a book. 00:19:58.52\00:20:01.58 And I kind of-- I related very well to Gideon 00:20:01.61\00:20:07.46 who-- oh, when he was called, you know, 00:20:07.49\00:20:10.32 I'm from the smallest clan 00:20:10.35\00:20:12.46 and my family is the smallest 00:20:12.49\00:20:14.38 and I'm the weakest in my family. 00:20:14.41\00:20:15.94 I can't do this, you know, or Jeremiah. 00:20:15.97\00:20:18.77 Oh, you know, I'm just a kid, I can't do that. 00:20:18.80\00:20:21.17 Right. Or Moses, not me. 00:20:21.20\00:20:25.31 Not me, yeah. Yeah. 00:20:25.34\00:20:27.78 You know, let me just-- 00:20:27.81\00:20:29.83 I thought about that in the context 00:20:29.86\00:20:31.23 of what you just said, the Lord often calls 00:20:31.26\00:20:33.44 those who understand their deficiencies 00:20:33.47\00:20:35.74 to reveal His strength. 00:20:35.77\00:20:36.83 Yes. 00:20:36.86\00:20:38.01 That's just a very fascinating thought 00:20:38.04\00:20:39.78 because people are not necessarily 00:20:39.81\00:20:41.46 most everyone that God called wasn't pre-qualified. 00:20:41.49\00:20:46.51 But He qualified them 00:20:46.54\00:20:48.22 because they had these interpretations 00:20:48.25\00:20:49.88 in their own lives, these apprehensions, 00:20:49.91\00:20:51.30 these hesitations, these moments 00:20:51.33\00:20:53.52 of their inadequacies recognize 00:20:53.55\00:20:55.70 and you are calling me to go 00:20:55.73\00:20:57.49 and when I go to talk to Pharaoh 00:20:57.52\00:20:59.52 whom I'm gonna send me, see this feeling of, 00:20:59.55\00:21:04.12 I'm just not up to the task 00:21:04.15\00:21:06.24 and that was the kind of experience he was having-- 00:21:06.27\00:21:08.17 you were having when God 00:21:08.20\00:21:09.51 lay that impression on your heart. 00:21:09.54\00:21:11.00 Absolutely. 00:21:11.03\00:21:14.57 But I-- to me when it became clear 00:21:14.60\00:21:19.35 that it was God speaking 00:21:19.38\00:21:21.38 it looked like this mountain to climb. 00:21:21.41\00:21:24.34 I had no idea that God was opening a door of opportunity. 00:21:24.37\00:21:30.37 There is the mountain, begin to climb it 00:21:30.40\00:21:32.47 and you didn't have any climbing gear at all 00:21:32.50\00:21:33.98 but the Lord kept putting 00:21:34.01\00:21:35.04 that mountain in front of your path. 00:21:35.07\00:21:36.72 In different ways. 00:21:36.75\00:21:37.78 When did you decided to stop running and accept the project? 00:21:37.81\00:21:42.59 Well, actually Jay at one point then called me 00:21:42.62\00:21:45.33 and we had never met before. 00:21:45.36\00:21:47.26 That was a long series of event 00:21:47.29\00:21:51.76 that helped him know 00:21:51.79\00:21:56.54 that I was writer and he called me. 00:21:56.57\00:21:59.42 And first I just gave him some ideas 00:21:59.45\00:22:01.76 about how to write it and then he tried 00:22:01.79\00:22:04.18 and called me back one day and said, 00:22:04.21\00:22:08.01 "You gave me good ideas but I'm just not a writer. 00:22:08.04\00:22:10.85 Would you write it?" 00:22:10.88\00:22:12.91 At which God and I spent some major time 00:22:12.94\00:22:18.15 discussing this project and He made it so clear 00:22:18.18\00:22:21.95 that He had called me 00:22:21.98\00:22:23.66 that I could not call myself 00:22:23.69\00:22:27.18 a Christ follower and not do it. 00:22:27.21\00:22:30.18 Now you are about to enter into a journey 00:22:30.21\00:22:32.80 of doing something that you had not done before 00:22:32.83\00:22:35.46 but this was actually bigger than you thought 00:22:35.49\00:22:37.39 what it would have been because you not only 00:22:37.42\00:22:38.88 are entering into a task of writing a book 00:22:38.91\00:22:42.18 and conveying someone's else's thoughts 00:22:42.21\00:22:43.78 and putting it, packaging it 00:22:43.81\00:22:45.02 for a reading market. 00:22:45.05\00:22:47.40 But you are entering into some 00:22:47.43\00:22:48.86 of the same experiences that you talked about 00:22:48.89\00:22:50.89 in his entrance into the occult. 00:22:50.92\00:22:53.82 And now you not only conveying words 00:22:53.85\00:22:56.09 but now you have this encounter that seems 00:22:56.12\00:22:58.67 to come along with the story. 00:22:58.70\00:23:00.29 Just to make the story very, very real talk about that. 00:23:00.32\00:23:04.60 From the time I started on writing his book 00:23:04.63\00:23:07.34 and first let me say that it's his story 00:23:07.37\00:23:10.28 of coming out of the occult 00:23:10.31\00:23:12.87 and New Age and spiritualism 00:23:12.90\00:23:15.27 and becoming a Christian. 00:23:15.30\00:23:16.75 Right. 00:23:16.78\00:23:17.84 And the story as I sight 00:23:17.87\00:23:22.51 was telling clearly about the character of Satan 00:23:22.54\00:23:27.74 and about the character of God. 00:23:27.77\00:23:32.14 Satan doesn't like to be unmasked. 00:23:32.17\00:23:34.84 No. 00:23:34.87\00:23:36.12 And so it appeared after a while 00:23:36.15\00:23:39.56 it became pretty evident to me 00:23:39.59\00:23:42.49 that he was fighting having this book come out. 00:23:42.52\00:23:46.20 And so-- I began having health challenges, 00:23:46.23\00:23:51.54 just there were all kinds of interruptions, 00:23:51.57\00:23:54.73 it was just a major-- became a major fight. 00:23:54.76\00:23:58.73 Eventually my husband fell and... 00:23:58.76\00:24:04.18 and I got the telephone call at the time 00:24:06.19\00:24:10.50 when I couldn't talk because of the health challenges 00:24:10.53\00:24:13.35 I was having, because of one of them 00:24:13.38\00:24:15.82 and there were several. 00:24:15.85\00:24:18.09 And the telephone rang, 00:24:18.12\00:24:20.45 I let the answering machine take it 00:24:20.48\00:24:22.15 and my husband's pained voice take it 00:24:22.18\00:24:24.02 and I wasn't even sure it was him at first. 00:24:24.05\00:24:26.94 But said, "Please answer, I need the doctor's number." 00:24:26.97\00:24:31.84 Wow. 00:24:31.87\00:24:32.90 And I grabbed the phone and said, 00:24:32.93\00:24:36.24 what's going on? 00:24:36.27\00:24:37.51 And he said, I fell. I think I broke both legs. 00:24:37.54\00:24:42.73 And the pain in his voice was just so evident 00:24:42.76\00:24:45.44 I knew something was really, really bad 00:24:45.47\00:24:47.86 and anyway he had indeed fractured a bone in one foot 00:24:47.89\00:24:53.13 and crushed the other ankle very severely. 00:24:53.16\00:24:56.75 It was-- there was a lot of waiting time 00:24:59.67\00:25:02.80 throughout this whole process. 00:25:02.83\00:25:04.96 They were waiting for the doctor's test. 00:25:04.99\00:25:07.44 It was waiting for surgery for him. 00:25:07.47\00:25:09.52 Waiting for doctor's tests for me 00:25:09.55\00:25:12.28 with the tumor in, on my pituitary gland. 00:25:12.31\00:25:16.16 Having to be very silent 00:25:18.14\00:25:19.70 because of nodules on my vocal chords 00:25:19.73\00:25:23.40 and told to have total vocal rest 00:25:23.43\00:25:26.62 and it's really hard to not talk at all 00:25:26.65\00:25:29.79 ever for anything. 00:25:29.82\00:25:32.04 But anyway, anyway there were a lot 00:25:32.07\00:25:36.44 of waiting times and some of the things 00:25:36.47\00:25:41.09 we did as he lay in the hospital bed 00:25:41.12\00:25:43.80 waiting for surgery and then after surgery 00:25:43.83\00:25:46.91 we talked about the way God had led in the past. 00:25:46.94\00:25:50.40 And talked about the miracles God had done. 00:25:50.43\00:25:52.80 We talked about like, you know, knowing that, 00:25:52.83\00:25:56.03 that he just lost his ability to make an income for us 00:25:56.06\00:26:00.07 and I worked for his business up. 00:26:00.10\00:26:02.27 So our total family income had disappeared. 00:26:02.30\00:26:05.71 Wow. 00:26:05.74\00:26:06.81 And we talked about 00:26:06.84\00:26:09.02 how God had prepared manna 00:26:09.05\00:26:12.97 for the Israelites and we didn't know 00:26:13.00\00:26:16.79 how we were gonna eat, may we get to figure out 00:26:16.82\00:26:19.02 what manna really was. 00:26:19.05\00:26:20.18 Maybe God have to make manna again. 00:26:20.21\00:26:23.04 That's quite a thought. 00:26:23.07\00:26:24.51 We talked about the time when he had-- 00:26:24.54\00:26:31.50 he is industrial painting contractor 00:26:31.53\00:26:33.53 and at one point we were working 00:26:33.56\00:26:35.26 in the oil fields in North Dakota 00:26:35.29\00:26:38.44 and then the boom busted as oil fields tend to do 00:26:38.47\00:26:42.50 and one year there were nine painting contractors 00:26:42.53\00:26:44.89 and all of them just busy. 00:26:44.92\00:26:47.37 And the next year there had been the burst 00:26:47.40\00:26:51.59 and there were three contractors barely eking out, 00:26:51.62\00:26:54.42 the rest had gone bankrupt. 00:26:54.45\00:26:56.71 Our income that year was two percent 00:26:59.07\00:27:02.31 of what it had been the year before. 00:27:02.34\00:27:05.79 The total business income 00:27:05.82\00:27:07.39 was less than two house payments. 00:27:07.42\00:27:10.14 Wow. 00:27:10.17\00:27:11.22 And yet somehow 00:27:11.25\00:27:16.12 we made it through that year. 00:27:16.15\00:27:18.96 When our accountant who always double checked 00:27:18.99\00:27:21.77 the business books and did the taxes, 00:27:21.80\00:27:23.75 when she looked as it she shook her head and said, 00:27:23.78\00:27:26.32 this doesn't figure out. 00:27:26.35\00:27:28.31 You couldn't have made it. 00:27:28.34\00:27:31.72 And I said, but we did. 00:27:31.75\00:27:33.14 That's right. 00:27:33.17\00:27:34.21 And God just brought us through. 00:27:34.24\00:27:36.45 So during these waiting times 00:27:36.48\00:27:38.02 we talked about how God had led, 00:27:38.05\00:27:39.47 we talked about the Bible stories, 00:27:39.50\00:27:40.96 about how God had provided. 00:27:40.99\00:27:43.12 And you know, one of the things 00:27:43.15\00:27:46.30 that is interesting to me 00:27:46.33\00:27:49.27 I think its Revelation 12:11 00:27:49.30\00:27:51.38 where it talks about the devil 00:27:51.41\00:27:52.99 and it says I'm talking about the saints. 00:27:53.02\00:27:56.24 They overcame him by the blood of the lamb. 00:27:56.27\00:27:59.34 Number one, that it's the blood of the lamb 00:27:59.37\00:28:02.95 that overcomes the devil. 00:28:02.98\00:28:05.34 But there is a secondary thing there. 00:28:05.37\00:28:07.66 They overcame him by the blood of the lamb 00:28:07.69\00:28:09.99 and by the word of their testimony. 00:28:10.02\00:28:11.61 That's right. That's right. 00:28:11.64\00:28:12.75 And as we remember and speak or write 00:28:12.78\00:28:17.70 those things that God has done 00:28:17.73\00:28:20.68 it encourages us, it strengthens us 00:28:20.71\00:28:23.15 as well as the people who hear it. 00:28:23.18\00:28:24.99 And so as we waited these are some of the things 00:28:25.02\00:28:27.94 that we did during those times. 00:28:27.97\00:28:30.59 You know, a lot of time Christians serve God 00:28:30.62\00:28:33.10 when the sun is out, when the finances are strong, 00:28:33.13\00:28:37.17 when everybody's health is intact, 00:28:37.20\00:28:39.28 when the children are behaving well. 00:28:39.31\00:28:42.05 We have a sunny day Christianity 00:28:42.08\00:28:45.34 but as you are saying Christianity is not really-- 00:28:45.37\00:28:49.18 let me use the word here, not verified 00:28:49.21\00:28:53.24 unless we can be a Christian when the sun doesn't shine, 00:28:53.27\00:28:57.39 and the finances are not showing up 00:28:57.42\00:28:59.52 and the health that-- 00:28:59.55\00:29:01.63 I think you mentioned that your husband's income 00:29:01.66\00:29:05.01 therefore the whole family's income dries up 00:29:05.04\00:29:07.34 going down to two percent. 00:29:07.37\00:29:09.26 How do you make it in the times 00:29:09.29\00:29:11.46 when it doesn't even seem logical, 00:29:11.49\00:29:14.13 the figures don't add up but the God we serve says, 00:29:14.16\00:29:17.99 "I will supply all of your need 00:29:18.02\00:29:20.53 according to My riches in glory." 00:29:20.56\00:29:21.93 Amen. 00:29:21.96\00:29:23.02 And you are experiencing that as you said earlier, 00:29:23.05\00:29:25.73 the manna is showing up in ways 00:29:25.76\00:29:28.13 that people cannot explain. 00:29:28.16\00:29:29.88 And that's where Christianity become verified, 00:29:29.91\00:29:32.52 it becomes what's the word 00:29:32.55\00:29:34.76 I could use here, it becomes tried and true 00:29:34.79\00:29:38.65 than you could say, 00:29:38.68\00:29:40.88 God has been with us in the trenches, 00:29:40.91\00:29:43.59 not just on the sunny days. 00:29:43.62\00:29:45.35 I know God is real. 00:29:45.38\00:29:46.51 How I could not have made it? 00:29:46.54\00:29:48.62 We could not have made it if God was not real. 00:29:48.65\00:29:51.94 And so that's the kind of experience that you 00:29:51.97\00:29:53.88 and your family going through. 00:29:53.91\00:29:56.22 And it seemed like a long time. 00:29:56.25\00:29:58.37 It was only a couple of years 00:29:58.40\00:30:00.01 but it seemed like a very, very long time. 00:30:00.04\00:30:02.75 But God walked through it, just every moment with us 00:30:02.78\00:30:06.66 and even when we couldn't see Him, 00:30:06.69\00:30:10.63 He was there and through the promises of His word 00:30:10.66\00:30:12.96 and the one you just mentioned, 00:30:12.99\00:30:14.03 I remember one night 00:30:14.06\00:30:16.00 when my husband in the hospital, 00:30:16.03\00:30:17.67 going home in that night 00:30:17.70\00:30:19.37 I went to bed and I was starting to worry 00:30:19.40\00:30:23.86 and I thought no, I can't go there. 00:30:23.89\00:30:27.85 And I started going through word by word. 00:30:27.88\00:30:30.85 "But my God shall supply all" you know, now I can't say it. 00:30:33.26\00:30:38.31 All my need. 00:30:38.34\00:30:39.38 "All my need according to His riches in glory." 00:30:39.41\00:30:41.95 But I started going through it word by word 00:30:41.98\00:30:44.78 but there is a contrast. 00:30:44.81\00:30:47.18 You know, this is what the situation looks like 00:30:47.21\00:30:50.28 but something is different. 00:30:50.31\00:30:53.04 But my God, Paul wasn't just talking about 00:30:53.07\00:30:57.20 some God he had heard about. 00:30:57.23\00:30:59.03 This was his personal God. 00:30:59.06\00:31:01.06 He had a personal relationship with this God. 00:31:01.09\00:31:04.14 This is my God. 00:31:04.17\00:31:05.60 But my God shall supply, not may supply. 00:31:05.63\00:31:10.36 Not, oh, you know, He will think about it. 00:31:10.39\00:31:13.86 He shall supply a word of surety 00:31:13.89\00:31:17.50 and not just a part of your need but all your need. 00:31:17.53\00:31:20.75 And I went to bed, you know, 00:31:20.78\00:31:22.64 I lay there word by word going through there 00:31:22.67\00:31:25.64 and went off to sleep thinking about 00:31:25.67\00:31:28.05 how God was going to supply for all of our need 00:31:28.08\00:31:31.83 no matter what the circumstances look like. 00:31:31.86\00:31:34.35 And you know, He did because two months of income 00:31:34.38\00:31:38.43 but 12 months of mortgage 00:31:38.46\00:31:39.95 and you made it through Praise God for that. 00:31:39.98\00:31:41.84 Amen. 00:31:41.87\00:31:42.90 So He is not a God that just makes promises 00:31:42.93\00:31:44.87 and say well, you know, I thought I could help you out. 00:31:44.90\00:31:47.27 But He is the God who honors His word. 00:31:47.30\00:31:49.91 He is the God who-- that fulfills His promises. 00:31:49.94\00:31:52.70 You know, Helen, you brought out that word but, 00:31:52.73\00:31:54.59 you know, when you use that, 00:31:54.62\00:31:58.32 when you look for that singular word in the Bible 00:31:58.35\00:32:00.28 there are so many places that it's often put into, 00:32:00.31\00:32:03.78 it changes the prior 00:32:03.81\00:32:06.38 and shows you the beauty of the-- it changes the former 00:32:06.41\00:32:09.68 and shows you the beauty of the God 00:32:09.71\00:32:11.47 that you serve in the present. 00:32:11.50\00:32:12.93 You know, the one-- no temptation has overtaken you 00:32:12.96\00:32:16.86 but such as this common read but God is faithful. 00:32:16.89\00:32:20.42 Yes. 00:32:20.45\00:32:21.48 And when you think about that 00:32:21.51\00:32:22.69 you think of the temptation, the trial, 00:32:22.72\00:32:24.42 the tribulation, the difficulty 00:32:24.45\00:32:25.84 but there is a God factor. 00:32:25.87\00:32:28.41 And so many Christians forget the God factor 00:32:28.44\00:32:30.81 when difficulties come their way. 00:32:30.84\00:32:32.77 and that's why I'm encouraged 00:32:32.80\00:32:34.01 because we are gonna talk about your book in a moment 00:32:34.04\00:32:35.30 and why you titled it the way you did 00:32:35.33\00:32:37.09 I don't want to say that yet 00:32:37.12\00:32:38.84 but I believe that the God factor 00:32:38.87\00:32:40.69 is so much a part of your story. 00:32:40.72\00:32:42.42 Absolutely. 00:32:42.45\00:32:43.48 And there are, there are several places in the Bible 00:32:43.51\00:32:47.22 where the words "but God" come very, 00:32:47.25\00:32:50.37 very close, you know, just they are right there. 00:32:50.40\00:32:53.06 And those "but God" stories were really, really 00:32:53.09\00:32:57.30 need to me for that very reason. 00:32:57.33\00:32:59.26 You know, this is what the circumstance but God. 00:32:59.29\00:33:02.59 And if God is in the center the outcome is different. 00:33:02.62\00:33:07.88 There is a circumstance and then there is God. 00:33:07.91\00:33:11.94 And if I go and try to do it on my own 00:33:11.97\00:33:14.95 the outcome is gonna be very different. 00:33:14.98\00:33:17.38 But if God is in the center the outcome will be different. 00:33:17.41\00:33:21.36 You know, you said if and I like that 00:33:21.39\00:33:23.39 and I like that a moment ago 00:33:23.42\00:33:25.03 there is another text in Romans 8, 00:33:25.06\00:33:27.79 "If God be for us, who can be against us? 00:33:27.82\00:33:31.26 You know if he spared not his own Son, 00:33:31.29\00:33:32.95 but delivered him up for us all, 00:33:32.98\00:33:35.92 how well he not with him 00:33:35.95\00:33:37.82 also freely give us all things?" 00:33:37.85\00:33:40.97 Those are promises that lot of Christians 00:33:41.00\00:33:42.52 don't remember when difficulty come 00:33:42.55\00:33:44.82 and the reason I'm spending little time on this 00:33:44.85\00:33:46.62 is because there are those that are watching 00:33:46.65\00:33:47.69 and listening to the program 00:33:47.72\00:33:49.37 that maybe in the middle of a trial right now 00:33:49.40\00:33:51.08 and saying well, what do I do and Helen, 00:33:51.11\00:33:53.41 the author is also the encourager 00:33:53.44\00:33:55.89 which leads to the reason for the title of your book 00:33:55.92\00:33:57.82 and the title of your book is? 00:33:57.85\00:33:59.56 "My God is Bigger." I like that. 00:33:59.59\00:34:02.49 That's the but God, you see. 00:34:02.52\00:34:05.30 I know my trials are big but my God is bigger. 00:34:05.33\00:34:08.27 I know that the income is small but my God is bigger. 00:34:08.30\00:34:11.85 I know the burdens are huge but my God is bigger. 00:34:11.88\00:34:14.89 So now talk about that book because this is a book that, 00:34:14.92\00:34:18.66 that's kind of a coming out of the trial book. 00:34:18.69\00:34:21.19 Absolutely. 00:34:21.22\00:34:22.35 But may I go one that sells first? 00:34:22.38\00:34:23.64 sure. 00:34:23.67\00:34:24.74 And that is with "My God is Bigger" 00:34:24.77\00:34:27.73 I think so much about David and Goliath. 00:34:27.76\00:34:32.00 In-- as we see them there 00:34:32.03\00:34:37.11 to Goliath he was the giant. 00:34:37.14\00:34:41.70 To the Philistines Goliath was the giant. 00:34:41.73\00:34:45.70 To the Israelite soldiers Goliath was a giant. 00:34:45.73\00:34:49.71 To Saul, Goliath was a giant. 00:34:49.74\00:34:54.98 But who was the giant in David's eyes? 00:34:55.01\00:34:57.49 God. 00:34:57.52\00:34:58.68 God was the giant. That's right. 00:34:58.71\00:35:00.99 And so any giant, any trouble that just seems 00:35:01.02\00:35:04.16 to be overwhelming if we look at it beside God, 00:35:04.19\00:35:09.58 God is the giant. 00:35:09.61\00:35:10.82 Wow, that's huge. 00:35:10.85\00:35:11.98 And so my God is bigger. 00:35:12.01\00:35:14.76 Actually I couldn't come up with a title and friend of my 00:35:14.79\00:35:17.91 who had read the manuscript, a writer friend 00:35:17.94\00:35:20.48 came up with the title and I thought that's it. 00:35:20.51\00:35:22.90 That's right. 00:35:22.93\00:35:24.00 My God is bigger because He is bigger 00:35:24.03\00:35:27.11 than any situation. 00:35:27.14\00:35:28.88 He is bigger than any challenge, 00:35:28.91\00:35:31.18 any trial that comes along. 00:35:31.21\00:35:33.21 Any health challenge, any financial challenge, 00:35:33.24\00:35:37.46 any business challenge, 00:35:37.49\00:35:39.41 any challenge that comes God is bigger. 00:35:39.44\00:35:43.72 You know, Helen, you could actually walk 00:35:43.75\00:35:45.27 through the New Testament the life of Christ 00:35:45.30\00:35:47.12 and the four gospels 00:35:47.15\00:35:48.67 and with that title tell every story. 00:35:48.70\00:35:51.78 You know the man by the Pool of Bethesda 00:35:51.81\00:35:53.53 but my God is bigger. 00:35:53.56\00:35:54.62 You kept but my God is-- the widow of Nain 00:35:54.65\00:35:57.54 but my God is bigger. 00:35:57.57\00:35:59.02 The, you know, Lazarus being dead for four days 00:35:59.05\00:36:01.57 but my God is bigger. 00:36:01.60\00:36:02.67 Mary and Martha will say but my God is bigger. 00:36:02.70\00:36:05.22 And the theme just goes 00:36:05.25\00:36:06.41 on and on and on and on it's just huge. 00:36:06.44\00:36:08.52 If I, you know, I just got this little vision in my head, 00:36:08.55\00:36:12.16 if you just put a tent up for one week 00:36:12.19\00:36:14.11 and the title of the, the title of the whole week was 00:36:14.14\00:36:16.47 "My God is Bigger" 00:36:16.50\00:36:17.55 one story after another after another 00:36:17.58\00:36:19.90 of Jesus in our lives pulling us through 00:36:19.93\00:36:23.50 and show the world that my God is bigger 00:36:23.53\00:36:25.54 because there are lot of problems in the world today. 00:36:25.57\00:36:27.04 Absolutely. 00:36:27.07\00:36:28.10 In a political, financial relationship problems, 00:36:28.13\00:36:30.73 marriage problems, children problems, 00:36:30.76\00:36:32.59 health issues, economy, storms, 00:36:32.62\00:36:35.81 you know, the list goes on and on 00:36:35.84\00:36:37.38 but now we come back down to the real factor, 00:36:37.41\00:36:39.33 "My God is Bigger." 00:36:39.36\00:36:40.39 Tell us about some of the-- okay. 00:36:40.42\00:36:42.89 God is continuing those stories. 00:36:42.92\00:36:46.38 The stories of the New Testament, wonderful. 00:36:46.41\00:36:50.75 But they didn't stop 00:36:50.78\00:36:52.85 when the Bible was finished being written. 00:36:52.88\00:36:55.92 And so these stories go on and there are stories 00:36:55.95\00:36:59.45 every day in our lives today. 00:36:59.48\00:37:00.97 If we choose to look at those stories 00:37:01.00\00:37:03.73 and choose to focus on our God 00:37:03.76\00:37:07.09 instead of on the challenge. 00:37:07.12\00:37:08.31 Yeah, we have to see the challenges 00:37:08.34\00:37:10.08 and know what to-- and deal with them 00:37:10.11\00:37:13.80 but focus on our God. 00:37:13.83\00:37:16.84 You know, the Bible testifies as Jesus said John 5:39, 00:37:16.87\00:37:19.73 these are they that testify Me. 00:37:19.76\00:37:21.95 But now we are the living testimony. 00:37:21.98\00:37:25.18 They overcame by the blood of the lamb 00:37:25.21\00:37:27.15 and by the word of their testimony. 00:37:27.18\00:37:29.14 So the New Testimony stories continue 00:37:29.17\00:37:31.66 and isn't it wonderful to think that throughout eternity 00:37:31.69\00:37:34.36 these are the stories that are gonna be told 00:37:34.39\00:37:36.50 how big our God is to share with un-fallen worlds. 00:37:36.53\00:37:41.14 Give us some of the tastes because this book 00:37:41.17\00:37:43.36 we are gonna talk about how those 00:37:43.39\00:37:44.83 who are listening and watching this program 00:37:44.86\00:37:46.44 can get access to the book but give us some of the titles 00:37:46.47\00:37:49.45 of some of the chapters 00:37:49.48\00:37:50.59 and maybe some of the experiences 00:37:50.62\00:37:52.25 that are contained in that book. 00:37:52.28\00:37:55.20 Okay, chapters are there. 00:37:55.23\00:37:58.26 I remember one of them is called, 00:37:58.29\00:38:00.03 "Sleeping in the boat." 00:38:00.06\00:38:01.55 Okay. 00:38:01.58\00:38:03.91 I this one called tests-- 00:38:03.94\00:38:07.83 I don't remember the chapter titles right off. 00:38:07.86\00:38:09.05 Okay. 00:38:09.08\00:38:10.63 But still it's chronicling how God is much bigger. 00:38:10.66\00:38:13.35 It's chronicling our experience through the trials 00:38:13.38\00:38:18.03 how God brought us through 00:38:18.06\00:38:20.62 and it's more than just a story. 00:38:20.65\00:38:22.24 Because in the back there is also a study guide 00:38:22.27\00:38:25.08 to help people think through, 00:38:25.11\00:38:27.78 how do these apply to my life? 00:38:27.81\00:38:29.47 Wonderful. 00:38:29.50\00:38:30.53 Or our study and discussion guide 00:38:30.56\00:38:32.74 it will work for like a study group. 00:38:32.77\00:38:36.05 There is also tips for memorizing scripture 00:38:36.08\00:38:41.17 because the Bible promises 00:38:41.20\00:38:42.74 and I have a little packet of promises here. 00:38:42.77\00:38:45.55 I found it just so valuable to put those promises 00:38:45.58\00:38:49.63 in my mind so that no matter 00:38:49.66\00:38:52.42 where I was I could be focusing on them. 00:38:52.45\00:38:55.84 And one of the things I like to do 00:38:55.87\00:38:58.59 to make the promises real to me 00:38:58.62\00:39:01.30 is I must be a little bit of a visual person 00:39:01.33\00:39:04.76 because if I can get a visual 00:39:04.79\00:39:06.70 to go along with the text. 00:39:06.73\00:39:07.82 It helps it, it helps me remember it. 00:39:07.85\00:39:11.55 But not only does it help me remember it, 00:39:11.58\00:39:14.40 it makes it more real to me. 00:39:14.43\00:39:15.86 That's right. 00:39:15.89\00:39:17.11 And for instance one I think of is Psalms 55:22, 00:39:17.14\00:39:23.93 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, 00:39:23.96\00:39:26.11 and he shall sustain thee." 00:39:26.14\00:39:28.24 Okay, cast thy burden upon the Lord, 00:39:28.27\00:39:31.25 what does that really mean? 00:39:31.28\00:39:33.13 You know, when I was throwing the ball 00:39:33.16\00:39:36.21 for my dog Ucon one day and all of a sudden 00:39:36.24\00:39:40.52 that came to mind, I cast my burden. 00:39:40.55\00:39:44.90 I cast that ball for my dog 00:39:44.93\00:39:48.11 and she chase it and bring it back to me. 00:39:48.14\00:39:51.97 When you throw something you have to let it go. 00:39:52.00\00:39:56.86 And you know, sometimes we are given 00:39:56.89\00:40:00.11 the image of bring your burdens to Jesus 00:40:00.14\00:40:02.73 and lay them at the cross. 00:40:02.76\00:40:03.82 Well, I don't have any problem with that. 00:40:03.85\00:40:05.97 The only problem I have is that I'm very human 00:40:06.00\00:40:10.68 and I'm tempted since I'm right there 00:40:10.71\00:40:12.59 and I'm tempted to pick it back up 00:40:12.62\00:40:14.25 and carry it away with me. 00:40:14.28\00:40:16.06 I could see that, yeah. 00:40:16.09\00:40:17.66 But if I cast my burdens to the Lord, 00:40:17.69\00:40:21.18 if I throw them I have to let go off them 00:40:21.21\00:40:26.47 and they are off away. 00:40:26.50\00:40:27.54 I can't just pick it up. That's right. 00:40:27.57\00:40:29.46 And that to me that helps me cast at Him, 00:40:29.49\00:40:32.47 leave it with Him, throw them to Him. 00:40:32.50\00:40:35.11 Matter a fact, in the Greek a word there is another text 00:40:35.14\00:40:37.49 "Casting all your cares upon Him for He cares for you." 00:40:37.52\00:40:40.29 The Greek is emphasizing throw it as far as you can 00:40:40.32\00:40:43.35 to the point where it's unreachable. 00:40:43.38\00:40:45.38 And its the Olympic, is the Olympic language 00:40:45.41\00:40:48.05 that is being used here. 00:40:48.08\00:40:49.11 Cast it so far that you can't reach it 00:40:49.14\00:40:51.68 therefore, you know you are not gonna go back and get it 00:40:51.71\00:40:54.04 and that's so real to me, you know. 00:40:54.07\00:40:55.88 And when you think about that that's a beautiful illustration 00:40:55.91\00:40:57.98 because when we say lay your burdens at the cross, 00:40:58.01\00:41:00.09 people tend to lay their burdens, 00:41:00.12\00:41:02.38 kneel next to their burdens and kind of scoot them back 00:41:02.41\00:41:04.52 in their pockets when they leave. 00:41:04.55\00:41:06.17 Isn't that true? Yeah. 00:41:06.20\00:41:07.41 But when we cast them we can't get them. 00:41:07.44\00:41:10.83 We see them leaving our hands, 00:41:10.86\00:41:12.34 we have expressively let them go 00:41:12.37\00:41:16.08 and we know that they are, they are in flight to Jesus 00:41:16.11\00:41:20.84 and He is not gonna send them back to us. 00:41:20.87\00:41:22.74 Amen. That's just wonderful. 00:41:22.77\00:41:24.62 And the Bible promises talk about that 00:41:24.65\00:41:26.15 because you have a little stack of cards here. 00:41:26.18\00:41:28.25 Lot of times you talk about the memorization of scripture, 00:41:28.28\00:41:31.31 how that really helps you and you carry that with you. 00:41:31.34\00:41:33.94 I do. 00:41:33.97\00:41:35.05 Like when I go for a walk this is with me 00:41:35.08\00:41:37.66 and I'm memorizing Bible passages. 00:41:37.69\00:41:39.80 I could be thinking about all kinds of other things. 00:41:39.83\00:41:41.83 I could be thinking about my problems 00:41:41.86\00:41:43.54 or whatever and, you know, we all have them. 00:41:43.57\00:41:47.61 But I can choose to focus on my God 00:41:47.64\00:41:51.93 and David and the dwarf. 00:41:51.96\00:41:57.26 That's Goliath is the dwarf when he compared to God, 00:41:57.29\00:42:00.91 you know, and my problems are dwarfs 00:42:00.94\00:42:05.40 when I am looking at the giant of God. 00:42:05.43\00:42:09.16 That's right. 00:42:09.19\00:42:10.44 Anyway it just-- I, as I memorize God's word 00:42:10.47\00:42:15.32 and then put it in my heart 00:42:15.35\00:42:17.01 it just make such a difference to me. 00:42:17.04\00:42:19.96 And another one during the waiting times 00:42:19.99\00:42:24.97 I wasn't quite sure what to do with all these 00:42:25.00\00:42:27.98 Bible texts that said, wait on the Lord. 00:42:28.01\00:42:30.64 I was tired of waiting. 00:42:30.67\00:42:32.59 I was tired of waiting for lab results 00:42:32.62\00:42:35.13 and you know, all these things take time. 00:42:35.16\00:42:37.18 And for my husband's leg deal and so forth 00:42:37.21\00:42:39.87 and I didn't really like those texts that said, 00:42:39.90\00:42:42.46 wait on the Lord. 00:42:42.49\00:42:44.24 And then I thought well, what does it really mean 00:42:44.27\00:42:46.76 and I looked it up in strong concordance 00:42:46.79\00:42:49.49 and one of the definitions 00:42:49.52\00:42:51.54 is to bind together perhaps by twisting. 00:42:51.57\00:42:57.48 And I thought what does that mean? 00:42:59.17\00:43:02.12 And then I got this picture 00:43:02.15\00:43:06.94 in my mind of a rope 00:43:06.97\00:43:11.84 and a rope is a number of threads wound together. 00:43:11.87\00:43:15.81 Right. 00:43:15.84\00:43:17.84 And I began to see myself as a tiny thread 00:43:17.87\00:43:24.68 and God as a steel cable. 00:43:24.71\00:43:28.89 And I-- I wasn't when it says wait on the Lord 00:43:28.92\00:43:33.49 it doesn't mean sit down and twiddle your thumbs. 00:43:33.52\00:43:36.11 Right, exactly. 00:43:36.14\00:43:37.66 It means for me to wind my little thread, 00:43:37.69\00:43:42.72 my fragile, tiny little thread that's me 00:43:42.75\00:43:47.02 in with the huge steel cable that is God. 00:43:47.05\00:43:52.08 And then wait on the Lord and He will strength you. 00:43:52.11\00:43:57.31 I become strong because for somebody 00:43:57.34\00:44:01.36 to pull on me, you know, for the devil to pull on me 00:44:01.39\00:44:04.40 he has to pull on God because my mind, 00:44:04.43\00:44:07.82 my life is wound with through His word, 00:44:07.85\00:44:13.62 and through the thoughts I choose to think is wound 00:44:13.65\00:44:17.86 in with my God who is ultimately strong. 00:44:17.89\00:44:21.74 Well, you know what, Isaiah 26:3, 00:44:21.77\00:44:23.73 "You will keep him in perfect peace, 00:44:23.76\00:44:25.19 whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in You." 00:44:25.22\00:44:29.60 And if you are stayed you are focused. 00:44:29.63\00:44:33.83 And I thought about that text 00:44:33.86\00:44:35.41 when you talked about carrying your cards with you. 00:44:35.44\00:44:38.94 You know there are people that are in their car 00:44:38.97\00:44:40.52 listening to this program right now 00:44:40.55\00:44:42.20 and they maybe looking at the roadway, 00:44:42.23\00:44:44.96 they may have the music on in the background. 00:44:44.99\00:44:47.99 Actually if they are listening to us 00:44:48.02\00:44:49.48 they are not listening to music 00:44:49.51\00:44:51.11 but they maybe thinking about problems 00:44:51.14\00:44:53.18 that are waiting for them at home, 00:44:53.21\00:44:55.14 they maybe thinking about a tragic experience 00:44:55.17\00:44:58.24 that happened during their day 00:44:58.27\00:44:59.46 or they maybe thinking about sickness 00:44:59.49\00:45:01.04 in the hospital or somebody they just came to visit 00:45:01.07\00:45:03.75 or they may just be in their own personal trial 00:45:03.78\00:45:06.26 and I want to say to them that this is a same God 00:45:06.29\00:45:09.08 that we are talking about today, 00:45:09.11\00:45:10.21 the God that wants us to bind ourselves to Him. 00:45:10.24\00:45:14.00 The One that wants us to take 00:45:14.03\00:45:15.70 our little fragile self, include ourselves 00:45:15.73\00:45:19.34 in the binding of the rope 00:45:19.37\00:45:20.51 and the steel cable of this experience 00:45:20.54\00:45:24.73 called divine assurance. 00:45:24.76\00:45:27.15 And then I want them to also know 00:45:27.18\00:45:29.15 that God will not allow them to break. 00:45:29.18\00:45:31.58 He will not allow them to be pulled apart 00:45:31.61\00:45:33.51 because God is able. 00:45:33.54\00:45:34.88 And 2 Peter 1:4, "Whereby are given unto us 00:45:34.91\00:45:39.53 exceeding great and precious promises, 00:45:39.56\00:45:43.51 that by these ye might be partakers 00:45:43.54\00:45:46.90 of the divine nature." 00:45:46.93\00:45:48.36 Wow. 00:45:48.39\00:45:49.42 You are not human any longer, failed human. 00:45:49.45\00:45:52.99 You know, we talked about something here 00:45:53.02\00:45:54.38 and the interesting time 00:45:54.41\00:45:55.46 I want to go and dive into this. 00:45:55.49\00:45:57.42 You put an acronym together "God is Able." 00:45:57.45\00:45:59.73 Yes.
