00:07:49.46\00:07:50.80 Yes. 00:07:50.83\00:07:52.17 I was in the insurance industry for over 30 years. 00:07:52.20\00:07:56.84 So I do have a little bit of insight is to where 00:07:56.87\00:07:59.57 I'm heading with this type of service 00:07:59.61\00:08:02.41 that I'm introducing. 00:08:02.44\00:08:05.45 Presently I'm caring for my 88-year-old mom 00:08:05.48\00:08:10.79 which you realize there is a lot of challenges 00:08:10.82\00:08:14.82 when you are dealing with the elderly. 00:08:14.86\00:08:17.69 And over the years I've take-- rather months I should say 00:08:17.73\00:08:21.50 I've taken care of my mom. 00:08:21.53\00:08:24.23 I realized there is a lot of needs for our seniors 00:08:24.27\00:08:28.24 and where at that baby boom stage right now, 00:08:28.27\00:08:32.77 baby boomers. 00:08:32.81\00:08:34.48 Where-- when you reach a certain age 00:08:34.51\00:08:38.48 you will find out that you have in most cases 00:08:38.51\00:08:42.15 you having to take care of your elderly parents. 00:08:42.18\00:08:46.25 And there are so many challenges 00:08:46.29\00:08:48.02 and you don't really know until 00:08:48.06\00:08:49.59 you actually crossed that bridge. 00:08:49.62\00:08:52.99 I'm actually at that bridge right now 00:08:53.03\00:08:55.03 and I'm, I'm about to cross it. 00:08:55.06\00:08:58.97 I'm trying to introduce a service 00:08:59.00\00:09:04.11 that was given to me by the Lord 00:09:04.14\00:09:06.88 and I would like to thank God 00:09:06.91\00:09:09.08 for delivering this ministry to me 00:09:09.11\00:09:13.95 in such a positive and enlighten way. 00:09:13.98\00:09:18.22 I would like to tell you 00:09:18.25\00:09:20.16 I've always felt the need to help others 00:09:20.19\00:09:23.06 and I always knew that the Lord had 00:09:23.09\00:09:24.63 something more for me to do. 00:09:24.66\00:09:27.03 I asked the Lord to open my eyes 00:09:27.03\00:09:29.33 and I was able to see and step out in faith that 00:09:29.36\00:09:36.71 and realize that sometimes the greatest blessings comes 00:09:36.74\00:09:40.38 at our lowest point in life. 00:09:40.41\00:09:43.85 Okay. 00:09:43.88\00:09:45.28 Doors closed and doors open. 00:09:45.31\00:09:48.18 I fell on my knees one day 00:09:48.22\00:09:50.09 when I take-- realizing that you know, 00:09:50.12\00:09:53.39 there are so many needs that my mother has 00:09:53.42\00:09:55.49 and I don't know how to fill them all by myself. 00:09:55.52\00:09:58.53 I went on my knees 00:09:58.56\00:09:59.89 and I asked the Lord to help me. 00:09:59.93\00:10:02.13 In five minutes I decided 00:10:02.16\00:10:06.40 oh, I've got to get a piece of paper 00:10:06.43\00:10:09.04 and I've got to get a pen. 00:10:09.07\00:10:11.14 I wrote down things that actually we needed for my mom 00:10:11.17\00:10:16.81 and I'm sure it would be helpful to others as well. 00:10:16.85\00:10:22.52 Before I knew it I came up with a plan 00:10:22.55\00:10:26.99 with needs for seniors and needs for services 00:10:27.02\00:10:32.56 and I thought well, you know, 00:10:32.59\00:10:34.40 let's put this together and see what we have here. 00:10:34.46\00:10:37.70 I started investing more time taking care of my mother, 00:10:37.73\00:10:41.60 her needs that led me to look for senior life in a new light 00:10:41.64\00:10:48.61 which my mother had many needs and I'm gonna break that down 00:10:48.64\00:10:51.81 for you eventually as we go through this program. 00:10:51.85\00:10:53.72 Okay. 00:10:53.75\00:10:56.02 But Lecia, you made a promise years ago-- 00:10:56.05\00:10:58.65 I just had to interject. 00:10:58.69\00:11:00.19 Years ago you made a promise 00:11:00.22\00:11:02.46 that you would take care of mom 00:11:02.49\00:11:04.03 when she get older, remember that? 00:11:04.06\00:11:05.49 Yes. 00:11:05.53\00:11:06.86 We both said we will take care of her. 00:11:06.90\00:11:08.93 Well, well, as children we be in the bed with mom 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.80 and we have to really-- 00:11:12.83\00:11:14.60 we drew very close to our mother 00:11:14.64\00:11:16.44 because our father died when my mother was in her 30s 00:11:16.47\00:11:21.81 and left her with eight children 00:11:21.84\00:11:24.45 to raise on her own. 00:11:24.48\00:11:25.81 That along was just a miracle because-- 00:11:25.85\00:11:27.88 Oh, absolutely. Yeah. 00:11:27.92\00:11:29.25 She's never had to seek public assistance. 00:11:29.28\00:11:33.42 Never wants. Wow. 00:11:33.46\00:11:35.29 She was able to buy a home 00:11:35.32\00:11:37.09 when she was able to move to New York, two storey, 00:11:37.13\00:11:41.40 well, actually three storey family homes, 00:11:41.46\00:11:44.27 To make and immigrant. 00:11:44.30\00:11:45.83 And while lying in the bed Angie and I would look at her 00:11:45.87\00:11:50.94 and we would say mom, 00:11:50.97\00:11:52.31 we we'll always be there for you, 00:11:52.34\00:11:54.01 we'll always be there for you. 00:11:54.04\00:11:56.21 And my mother said, oh, no. 00:11:56.24\00:11:58.01 When I get old 00:11:58.05\00:11:59.38 you girls are just gonna throw me in a nursing home. 00:11:59.41\00:12:02.62 And Angie and I would look at each other and look at mom 00:12:02.65\00:12:05.22 and we said no, mom, we promise 00:12:05.25\00:12:07.06 we will take care of you. 00:12:07.09\00:12:08.42 We'll take care of you when you get old. 00:12:08.46\00:12:10.96 And you know, and as you started knowing, 00:12:10.99\00:12:13.80 knowing say knowing them well is that an under statement. 00:12:13.83\00:12:16.13 Yes. Yes. 00:12:16.16\00:12:17.50 But we pretty much grew up together. 00:12:17.53\00:12:19.13 We kind of became brother and sister 00:12:19.17\00:12:20.60 before became in-laws. 00:12:20.64\00:12:22.84 And what I like about what Lecia is doing now 00:12:22.87\00:12:26.44 is that there is no particular time in life 00:12:26.47\00:12:30.28 where you set a date to start something 00:12:30.31\00:12:33.95 and sometimes to some people it seems late in life 00:12:33.98\00:12:36.15 but to other people it just seems at the right time. 00:12:36.18\00:12:39.15 And I think what makes this so significant 00:12:39.19\00:12:41.09 is until your mom got to this point in life 00:12:41.12\00:12:44.96 you really didn't have the vision 00:12:44.99\00:12:46.49 as to what that need is going to be. 00:12:46.53\00:12:48.60 And so Danny, when you think about it 00:12:48.63\00:12:50.37 mom 88-years-old, 00:12:50.40\00:12:52.37 you're thinking I'll never put in a nursing home 00:12:52.40\00:12:53.97 and that's a vow that we've all made. 00:12:54.00\00:12:56.64 She has seven living children now 00:12:56.67\00:12:58.31 and we say well, hey, no matter 00:12:58.34\00:12:59.74 what the case maybe one of these children 00:12:59.77\00:13:01.54 is gonna be-- she is gonna be 00:13:01.58\00:13:03.38 in one of children's homes 00:13:03.41\00:13:04.75 no matter until the day she close her eyes and rest. 00:13:04.78\00:13:07.68 But now what I want you talk about 00:13:07.72\00:13:09.38 is having the insurance background 00:13:09.42\00:13:13.82 and praying for God to open the door for you. 00:13:13.86\00:13:16.83 Talk about that because you had, 00:13:16.86\00:13:18.93 you had a tough place in life. 00:13:18.96\00:13:20.96 You know, we talked about this personally, 00:13:20.96\00:13:22.33 I want to give you the option of sharing 00:13:22.36\00:13:24.43 what you want people to know. 00:13:24.47\00:13:26.10 But lot of times you know, 00:13:26.13\00:13:27.47 you never know you can climb a wall until you get to it. 00:13:27.50\00:13:29.17 Absolutely. 00:13:29.20\00:13:30.54 So talk about some of those things 00:13:30.57\00:13:31.91 because this is kind of like a Colonel Sanders story 00:13:31.94\00:13:33.94 and let me tell you what it means. 00:13:33.98\00:13:35.31 You know, Colonel Sanders by Kentucky Fried Chicken 00:13:35.34\00:13:37.65 but he didn't start it until he was retired 00:13:37.68\00:13:40.18 and he is long gone but the whole world knows 00:13:40.22\00:13:42.48 who Colonel Sanders is. 00:13:42.52\00:13:44.09 So there is never a hard time in life 00:13:44.12\00:13:45.69 where an unusual time. 00:13:45.72\00:13:48.12 Talk about some of those things in life 00:13:48.16\00:13:51.29 that became a challenge to you. 00:13:51.33\00:13:52.66 Over maybe the last year that kind of you said, 00:13:52.69\00:13:55.36 there is got to something more life in this. 00:13:55.40\00:13:57.23 Yes. 00:13:57.27\00:13:58.60 I want everyone to know that 00:13:58.63\00:14:02.07 if God closes a door in your life 00:14:02.10\00:14:04.67 it's for a reason. 00:14:04.71\00:14:07.04 Sometimes we are upset 00:14:07.08\00:14:08.74 when things happen that are under-- 00:14:08.78\00:14:11.15 that we have no control over 00:14:11.18\00:14:13.72 and don't really understand 00:14:13.75\00:14:15.48 the true meaning behind a door being closed. 00:14:15.52\00:14:19.65 I've been in the business for insurance for 30 years 00:14:19.69\00:14:24.23 and as the last job that I worked didn't realize 00:14:24.26\00:14:30.07 where God was leading me. 00:14:30.10\00:14:31.50 Very stressful. 00:14:31.53\00:14:32.87 It became very stressful. 00:14:32.90\00:14:34.50 I spent many hours on my job. 00:14:34.54\00:14:38.57 I didn't have that personal time at home 00:14:38.61\00:14:42.94 that I needed because my whole life 00:14:42.98\00:14:45.68 was dedicated to my job. 00:14:45.71\00:14:48.42 Nowadays you wear more than one hats 00:14:48.45\00:14:51.35 in the employment field 00:14:51.39\00:14:54.79 and that's how it was with me. 00:14:54.82\00:14:56.66 I covered many basis on my job 00:14:56.69\00:14:59.63 and it became very stressful because when anyone was out 00:14:59.66\00:15:04.07 Lecia was the one that they called on. 00:15:04.10\00:15:06.67 So I covered many basis on my job 00:15:06.70\00:15:10.81 and I had a lady that sat behind me. 00:15:10.84\00:15:13.41 This is very important 00:15:13.44\00:15:15.04 that I would like to share with my audience 00:15:15.08\00:15:16.85 because I'm sure 00:15:16.88\00:15:18.25 there maybe someone that is going through this. 00:15:18.28\00:15:21.85 I had a lady that sat behind me, 00:15:21.88\00:15:23.92 she took care of her mother-in-law 00:15:23.95\00:15:28.12 and while she took care of her 00:15:28.16\00:15:29.76 she says, you know, Lecia, it is just so hard 00:15:29.79\00:15:33.40 because we would share stories by the way. 00:15:33.43\00:15:36.30 I'm taking care of-- I have my elderly mother 00:15:36.33\00:15:39.10 that I would take her to doctor's visits, 00:15:39.13\00:15:41.77 I would do all the little errands. 00:15:41.80\00:15:44.64 My oldest sister she took care of her in the home 00:15:44.67\00:15:49.21 and I filled in at that time 00:15:49.24\00:15:52.95 as far as running errands and taking her 00:15:52.98\00:15:55.42 to a doctor's appointments and so forth. 00:15:55.45\00:15:58.45 Well, the lady that sat behind me 00:15:58.49\00:16:03.02 she says, you know, I'm taking care 00:16:03.06\00:16:05.39 of my mother-in-law and it's just so difficult 00:16:05.43\00:16:08.46 because we fall in the gap. 00:16:08.50\00:16:11.70 If you make too much, 00:16:11.73\00:16:13.57 if you make too much money over a certain amount 00:16:13.60\00:16:17.07 then the government is not gonna step in, 00:16:17.11\00:16:20.71 the parents has to take care of these elderly, 00:16:20.74\00:16:24.48 their children has to take care of their elderly parents 00:16:24.51\00:16:28.58 and there is not enough income to get the help that 00:16:28.62\00:16:32.15 they need for fulltime person in the home. 00:16:32.19\00:16:36.62 So she had to have her daughter stay at home 00:16:36.66\00:16:40.43 while she goes to work with her mother 00:16:40.46\00:16:44.07 and then she would come home from work 00:16:44.10\00:16:48.24 and then continue the care for her mother-in-law. 00:16:48.27\00:16:51.34 There are so many people that are out there today 00:16:51.37\00:16:54.91 that are experienced in this. 00:16:54.94\00:16:57.11 There is a middle gap that needs to be filled. 00:16:57.15\00:17:00.48 Today if we want to represent 00:17:00.52\00:17:02.38 that middle gap we want people to know that 00:17:02.42\00:17:05.89 we are out there and there is someone 00:17:05.92\00:17:08.56 that's hearing and understanding 00:17:08.59\00:17:10.36 this type of a situation that's actually been there 00:17:10.39\00:17:14.20 where you have been 00:17:14.23\00:17:15.93 and we are here now to help you. 00:17:15.96\00:17:19.17 We are gonna go through our program 00:17:19.20\00:17:21.40 to show you what we have developing, 00:17:21.44\00:17:24.51 what God has given me in such a great and might way. 00:17:24.54\00:17:28.88 I have to just give Him the praise and glory 00:17:28.91\00:17:32.31 because this would not have even come to play 00:17:32.35\00:17:36.72 if God was not a part of this. 00:17:36.75\00:17:38.89 That's right. 00:17:38.92\00:17:40.46 I have to say that not only are 00:17:40.49\00:17:44.36 we seeking to help others in this type of service 00:17:44.39\00:17:47.40 but we also wanted to be a ministry. 00:17:47.40\00:17:50.37 We have such a great message 00:17:50.40\00:17:52.43 that we want to share as Christians. 00:17:52.47\00:17:54.80 We want to share the love of Jesus. 00:17:54.84\00:17:56.87 We want to let people know that we do care about them, 00:17:56.91\00:18:01.81 we are here for you as a church body 00:18:01.84\00:18:05.55 and as Christians to be able to help in so many ways. 00:18:05.58\00:18:10.42 We want to help you physically and spiritually 00:18:10.45\00:18:13.99 and this is why I'm about to introduce what we do here. 00:18:14.02\00:18:18.19 Now what I have for you is to let you know that 00:18:18.23\00:18:23.16 we started an internet based elderly care matching service. 00:18:23.20\00:18:28.90 We are connecting people with needs. 00:18:28.94\00:18:33.64 We-- this actually came about 00:18:33.68\00:18:37.58 when we as-- 00:18:37.61\00:18:43.45 I'm trying to find the right word for it. 00:18:43.49\00:18:45.85 As a senior caregiver 00:18:45.89\00:18:47.76 because that's exactly what I'm right now. 00:18:47.79\00:18:50.46 Now that I've quit my job 00:18:50.49\00:18:52.56 and now that I'm taking care of my mother, 00:18:52.59\00:18:54.96 I'm a senior caregiver. 00:18:55.00\00:18:57.17 Sure. 00:18:57.20\00:18:58.53 I have to say that there were things 00:18:58.57\00:19:01.94 that I had to take into consideration. 00:19:01.97\00:19:04.97 When my mother was in her own home 00:19:05.01\00:19:10.18 I realized that Angie and I would talk about this 00:19:10.21\00:19:14.15 and we would say, you know what, 00:19:14.18\00:19:16.35 wouldn't it be nice if we had somebody 00:19:16.38\00:19:18.72 to go out to our home, 00:19:18.75\00:19:21.56 mom's not cooking anymore and she is losing weight 00:19:21.59\00:19:26.39 and we wanted maybe have somebody go out there 00:19:26.43\00:19:30.03 because I'm working, 00:19:30.07\00:19:31.83 Angie is here in Illinois, my mom is there. 00:19:31.87\00:19:35.34 If she turns on the stove sometimes she is-- 00:19:35.37\00:19:39.77 she forgets and she will walk away 00:19:39.81\00:19:41.88 and, you know, things will burn. 00:19:41.91\00:19:45.08 She has dementia, I didn't say that before. 00:19:45.11\00:19:49.08 So then we realized, wait a minute, 00:19:49.12\00:19:51.55 wouldn't it be nice if we had somebody 00:19:51.59\00:19:54.22 that would come to the home and deliver vegetarian food? 00:19:54.26\00:19:59.19 We've got plenty of people out there that 00:19:59.23\00:20:02.70 will say oh, we've got 00:20:02.73\00:20:04.07 these are the different services. 00:20:04.10\00:20:05.50 Yes, they do have them 00:20:05.53\00:20:07.07 but do they have a service that will go out to the homes 00:20:07.10\00:20:10.14 and deliver vegetarian food, 00:20:10.17\00:20:13.01 good healthy food for our seniors? 00:20:13.04\00:20:17.11 We are reaching out to the communities 00:20:17.15\00:20:19.91 in this positive way. 00:20:19.95\00:20:21.48 We want to be able to deliver food, 00:20:21.52\00:20:24.05 a services to our seniors and this is what we are about. 00:20:24.09\00:20:28.39 This is just one of the services we provide. 00:20:28.42\00:20:32.23 And looking into this 00:20:32.26\00:20:33.60 I remember you talking about that on the phone, 00:20:33.63\00:20:35.93 matter of fact when went far we would handle. 00:20:35.96\00:20:37.57 Now you start to voicing this and I'll say, well, 00:20:37.60\00:20:40.10 have you checked Meals on Wheels? 00:20:40.14\00:20:42.20 And you know, you people have heard of Meals on Wheels. 00:20:42.24\00:20:44.61 You say, yeah, but their menu's don't match 00:20:44.64\00:20:48.04 what my mom would like to eat. 00:20:48.08\00:20:49.98 And while this is not just a service purpose ministry 00:20:50.01\00:20:55.92 the food that various people eat, 00:20:55.95\00:20:58.42 you know, you have people with vegetarian diets 00:20:58.45\00:21:02.66 matching the SDA elderly here and also I want to add here 00:21:02.69\00:21:06.06 that it's not just for SDA elderly here 00:21:06.09\00:21:08.00 but starting there, that was the impetus 00:21:08.03\00:21:10.83 starting with reaching out unique needs. 00:21:10.87\00:21:13.34 So she said, and then Lecia, before she did this 00:21:13.37\00:21:17.64 she said it would be nice if we had a number of vans-- 00:21:17.67\00:21:20.11 I mean this idea was going around. 00:21:20.14\00:21:21.98 If we got some vans 00:21:22.01\00:21:23.35 and maybe we could start in Orlando 00:21:23.38\00:21:26.78 and I said, do you realize how huge that is. 00:21:26.82\00:21:28.95 She said, maybe we can get a building 00:21:28.98\00:21:30.72 and build some kitchens and hire people. 00:21:30.75\00:21:32.65 So this was a pulse. 00:21:32.69\00:21:34.22 It was like she was throwing darts at the target 00:21:34.26\00:21:36.49 and all of the sudden one day Lord hit a bull's eye 00:21:36.52\00:21:38.49 and said, hey, instead of you cooking 00:21:38.53\00:21:41.96 its called SDA Elderly Care Matching Services. 00:21:42.00\00:21:44.87 So she decided well, we have the seniors 00:21:44.90\00:21:46.90 with the needs and we have the companies 00:21:46.94\00:21:49.47 that can provide the needs, let's match them together. 00:21:49.50\00:21:53.31 There you go. Yes, absolutely. 00:21:53.34\00:21:56.08 It's a win-win. A win-win. 00:21:56.11\00:21:58.08 So you don't have to build-- 00:21:58.11\00:21:59.48 she doesn't have to build a kitchen. 00:21:59.51\00:22:01.08 Right. Somebody has a kitchen. 00:22:01.12\00:22:02.45 Exactly. Yes. 00:35:34.46\00:35:35.76 The people that are sent are pre-screened, 00:35:35.80\00:35:38.53 they are security cleared. 00:35:38.57\00:35:40.84 We do a background check because we know that 00:35:40.87\00:35:43.34 there are some individuals that will prey on elderly, 00:35:43.37\00:35:46.37 they could take advantage of them 00:35:46.41\00:35:47.74 so we specifically only deal with people that we can clear 00:35:47.78\00:35:51.85 with references in the background check. 00:35:51.88\00:35:53.58 Well, that's very important nowadays 00:35:53.62\00:35:55.08 because we would turn my mother-in-law 00:35:55.12\00:35:56.95 over to just anybody-- but anybody is coming there. 00:35:56.99\00:35:58.92 Sure. 00:35:58.95\00:36:00.36 You know, and you will do the same to your family. 00:36:00.39\00:36:01.96 Yeah, that's very important and I'm glad John, 00:36:01.99\00:36:04.66 that you brought that out. 00:36:04.69\00:36:06.80 And that covers us 00:36:06.83\00:36:08.13 with the senior care number one. 00:36:08.16\00:36:09.96 I would like to be able if I make to go down that list. 00:36:10.00\00:36:14.10 For the employment opportunities 00:36:14.14\00:36:16.17 on the blue page for number two, 00:36:16.20\00:36:18.44 we have vegetarian food delivery service. 00:36:18.47\00:36:21.88 We just wanted everyone to know that 00:36:21.91\00:36:25.75 we have cooks out there 00:36:25.78\00:36:27.12 that are able to do this type of service. 00:36:27.15\00:36:30.59 We would like to invite you 00:36:30.62\00:36:31.95 to go on to our website, sign up 00:36:31.99\00:36:35.39 and we will be able to have you linked on 00:36:35.42\00:36:38.63 with our employment service for the food delivery. 00:36:38.66\00:36:44.67 It's a great opportunity for those that like to cook. 00:36:44.70\00:36:48.90 And then we can get you connected 00:36:48.94\00:36:51.71 with out transportation services 00:36:51.74\00:36:53.74 if that's something that you would be interested in 00:36:53.78\00:36:56.85 or you can also use your own 00:36:56.88\00:36:58.45 transportation services for that service. 00:36:58.48\00:37:02.92 Cleaning services, that's number three. 00:37:02.95\00:37:06.42 We wanted to invite anyone that's out there 00:37:06.45\00:37:09.62 that would like to go in and to do a cleaning service, 00:37:09.66\00:37:14.83 maybe some other services maybe part time, 00:37:14.83\00:37:18.23 it may be full time, it all depends on the senor 00:37:18.27\00:37:22.80 and to be able to go into those homes 00:37:22.84\00:37:24.97 and offer this type of service. 00:37:25.01\00:37:27.08 Then number four is transportation services. 00:37:27.11\00:37:30.71 I like to stop there for a moment 00:37:30.75\00:37:32.41 because it's such a big opportunity. 00:37:32.45\00:37:35.05 I found out that there were some Adventist churches 00:37:35.08\00:37:37.85 that have church buses that are just sitting there 00:37:37.89\00:37:43.16 and not really going anywhere. 00:37:43.19\00:37:45.79 Such a great opportunity for churches to use that 00:37:45.83\00:37:49.73 as a part of their ministry 00:37:49.76\00:37:51.60 besides just using them every once in a while. 00:37:51.63\00:37:54.57 Wouldn't it be great if you were able to go out 00:37:54.60\00:37:57.44 and use that service to say okay, 00:37:57.47\00:38:00.18 we are gonna be transporting senior. 00:38:00.21\00:38:02.91 They wouldn't mind paying a little bit 00:38:02.94\00:38:04.95 for the service to come out, 00:38:04.98\00:38:08.45 you take them around to their doctor's appointments, 00:38:08.48\00:38:12.09 take them to their doctor's offices, 00:38:12.12\00:38:14.72 you can take them grocery shopping, 00:38:14.76\00:38:19.83 again that's another key note for our students. 00:38:19.86\00:38:23.67 The elderly can also request that 00:38:23.70\00:38:26.57 if you've got a college students you can go in 00:38:26.60\00:38:29.17 and you can do this as well. 00:38:29.20\00:38:31.04 You can go to the elderly get a grocery shopping list, 00:38:31.07\00:38:34.41 for you elderly people are shut and locked in 00:38:34.44\00:38:37.28 wouldn't it be nice to know that 00:38:37.31\00:38:38.65 you can just prepare a grocery list and say 00:38:38.68\00:38:41.98 to someone here can you run my errands for me 00:38:42.02\00:38:44.72 and you would be helping a young person 00:38:44.75\00:38:47.06 that's out there, that's needing 00:38:47.09\00:38:49.56 help while they are in school. 00:38:49.59\00:38:51.69 I'm just so excited about this 00:38:51.73\00:38:53.70 and I just hope that you are too. 00:38:53.73\00:38:56.13 And then number five we have senior housing. 00:38:56.16\00:38:59.83 That one I would like to stop and tell you about 00:38:59.87\00:39:02.34 because that one is also exciting. 00:39:02.37\00:39:05.61 Every time I mention about the senior program 00:39:05.64\00:39:09.71 and I mention the housing area even here in Illinois at 3ABN 00:39:09.74\00:39:15.45 I mentioned and then someone says 00:39:15.48\00:39:18.05 well, you know, I would like to foster 00:39:18.09\00:39:20.39 an elderly care person at my home, right here at 3ABN. 00:39:20.42\00:39:25.16 Yes. 00:39:25.19\00:39:26.53 So there is so many avenues into what senior housing. 00:39:26.56\00:39:33.40 We wanted to let you know 00:39:33.44\00:39:34.90 seniors, that we have options for you. 00:39:34.94\00:39:37.67 Sometimes you may not want to be placed 00:39:37.71\00:39:40.08 in a nursing home like my mother. 00:39:40.11\00:39:42.94 You might say well, 00:39:42.98\00:39:45.15 I would prefer to be into a Christian home. 00:39:45.18\00:39:49.08 And his is not only for Adventist listeners 00:39:49.12\00:39:53.09 this is also out there for anyone 00:39:53.12\00:39:55.49 that would feel comfortable in a Christian home. 00:39:55.52\00:39:58.96 And to know that these services 00:39:58.99\00:40:01.30 where you can feel comfortable, 00:40:01.33\00:40:03.13 you are in a home setting with a family, 00:40:03.16\00:40:06.00 they can take you to church. 00:40:06.03\00:40:07.80 I mean, this is just wonder ful 00:40:07.84\00:40:09.94 for those that are in that type of a situation. 00:40:09.97\00:40:13.64 Then we also have Adventist 00:40:13.68\00:40:17.28 and none-Adventist nursing homes. 00:40:17.31\00:40:19.41 The choice is yours. 00:40:19.45\00:40:21.42 We would like to be able to connect you 00:40:21.45\00:40:24.55 if you go on to our website 00:40:24.59\00:40:26.69 we have different types of housing. 00:40:26.72\00:40:29.69 And also we have respite care. 00:40:29.72\00:40:32.13 Many of you who are in the situation like myself 00:40:32.16\00:40:37.10 where you are taking care of your adult parent 00:40:37.13\00:40:40.74 or parents you may say, 00:40:40.77\00:40:42.80 well, you know, we would like to have a little break. 00:40:42.84\00:40:45.37 We like to go on a vacation 00:40:45.41\00:40:48.04 but we would like somebody to come into our home 00:40:48.08\00:40:50.95 or maybe take my mom to someone else's home 00:40:50.98\00:40:57.09 and care for them while we go on vacation. 00:40:57.12\00:40:59.65 Wouldn't that be a nice break if you knew that 00:40:59.69\00:41:02.16 this respite care was there for you? 00:41:02.19\00:41:04.73 You also need breaks as a caregiver. 00:41:04.76\00:41:07.20 That's right. 00:41:07.23\00:41:08.53 So we wanted to touch on that. 00:41:08.56\00:41:11.80 I'm gonna let-- 00:41:11.83\00:41:13.57 before I go I'm gonna go on to the other section 00:41:13.60\00:41:16.00 which is services for seniors. 00:41:16.04\00:41:18.71 Again just to let you know 00:41:18.74\00:41:21.11 we have the elderly in home care. 00:41:21.14\00:41:24.38 We are providing that services for you in home. 00:41:24.41\00:41:28.88 Those of you that would like to set up foster care 00:41:28.92\00:41:32.82 or adult daycare for our church members 00:41:32.85\00:41:37.89 please feel free to do so, 00:41:37.93\00:41:40.80 we would like to be there to support your daycares, 00:41:40.83\00:41:43.60 we would like to be there to support 00:41:43.63\00:41:45.90 your adult foster care as we are here for you as well. 00:41:45.93\00:41:53.04 Let me expand on that. 00:41:53.07\00:41:54.41 There are cities like Atlanta, you have churches like Berean. 00:41:54.44\00:41:58.81 Some of the churches have really strong 00:41:58.85\00:42:01.82 day programs for seniors. 00:42:01.85\00:42:03.65 I know that one pastor he is under Oakwood now 00:42:03.69\00:42:07.09 all the sudden pastor, good preacher, 00:42:07.12\00:42:11.76 Carlton, Carlton Byrd. 00:42:11.79\00:42:13.13 Oh, sure. 00:42:13.16\00:42:14.46 Oh, sorry Pastor Byrd, just got a brain freeze there. 00:42:14.50\00:42:18.47 Very community oriented churches 00:42:18.50\00:42:20.97 and they have feeding programs. 00:42:21.00\00:42:22.70 But sometimes these seniors 00:42:22.74\00:42:24.07 can't get to these feeding programs. 00:42:24.11\00:42:26.31 This is where the transportation comes in, 00:42:26.34\00:42:29.21 this is where adult daycare comes in. 00:42:29.24\00:42:31.85 This is where elderly foster care comes in. 00:42:31.88\00:42:34.15 They are building the bridges to get them to these churches. 00:42:34.18\00:42:36.69 And one of the things that Leci hasn't mentioned yet 00:42:36.72\00:42:40.32 and excuse my voice 00:42:40.36\00:42:41.69 for those of you ever heard for me before, 00:42:41.72\00:42:43.19 you know, that I'm completely out of my elements. 00:42:43.22\00:42:45.79 Fight with cold that you can't catch. 00:42:45.83\00:42:48.46 Okay. Okay, all right. 00:42:48.50\00:42:50.87 Then the independent living part 00:42:52.63\00:42:54.77 and I know you're getting there. 00:42:54.80\00:42:56.14 I don't want to jump ahead you, I will wait till you get there. 00:42:56.17\00:42:58.07 But these adult daycare services-- 00:42:58.11\00:43:00.61 I know that there are people that volunteer here at 3ABN. 00:43:00.64\00:43:04.61 We sometimes see the elderly 00:43:06.41\00:43:07.75 they are putting envelopes together and mail. 00:43:07.78\00:43:10.35 Well, they don't drive 00:43:10.39\00:43:12.15 but somebody has to get them here 00:43:12.19\00:43:13.66 that's where transportation comes in. 00:43:13.69\00:43:15.56 So whether large communities or small communities 00:43:15.59\00:43:18.06 and what Lecia didn't mentioned yet 00:43:18.09\00:43:19.89 because you are based in Florida, 00:43:19.93\00:43:22.46 Florida is kind of like a spring board of it 00:43:22.50\00:43:26.17 are down in South Florida but-- 00:43:26.20\00:43:28.84 so that's kind of where the churches 00:43:28.87\00:43:30.21 can come in and we will talk about 00:43:30.24\00:43:33.07 how its a business a little later on here. 00:43:33.11\00:43:36.31 Yeah, we only have about nine minutes left 00:43:36.34\00:43:38.11 for the program so we want to let you continue. 00:43:38.15\00:43:41.95 Sure. 00:43:41.98\00:43:43.32 So we touch bases on elderly in home care 00:43:43.35\00:43:46.22 and elderly foster care. 00:43:46.25\00:43:47.89 For those of you that don't know again 00:43:47.92\00:43:49.76 just to let you know that the adult foster care 00:43:49.79\00:43:54.23 if you are a Christian and you would like 00:43:54.30\00:43:57.50 to open your home we are inviting you 00:43:57.53\00:44:00.77 to go on to our website and sign up. 00:44:00.80\00:44:04.44 We have on the other side if you are a senior 00:44:04.47\00:44:11.81 that is needing to be placed into one of these homes 00:44:11.85\00:44:15.85 please sign up on our website, we would be glad to have you. 00:44:15.88\00:44:20.39 The-- I'd like to move 00:44:20.42\00:44:21.92 on to now the adult daycare services, 00:44:21.96\00:44:27.60 very important. 00:44:27.60\00:44:30.03 Anyone of you that feels a need 00:44:30.07\00:44:32.40 that you would like to be able to set up 00:44:32.43\00:44:35.04 an Adventist adult daycare we would like to have it, 00:44:35.07\00:44:39.04 we would like to have it affordable to our seniors. 00:44:39.07\00:44:43.45 We have been pricing them, 00:44:43.48\00:44:45.05 we know that is quite expensive for adult daycare. 00:44:45.08\00:44:48.65 If you can do that for our community 00:44:48.68\00:44:51.09 do it for our seniors. 00:44:51.12\00:44:52.82 Open that door so this way we can have that adult daycare. 00:44:52.85\00:44:57.66 For those individuals that are at work-- 00:44:57.69\00:45:00.63 where their parents has to work like I was in that situation 00:45:00.66\00:45:04.63 as we mentioned earlier 00:45:04.67\00:45:06.33 where Angie was here in Illinois, I was at work 00:45:06.37\00:45:10.01 and how we would have loved to have someone 00:45:10.04\00:45:13.61 to some place to maybe a place to our mom 00:45:13.64\00:45:16.14 and give us sisters a break, 00:45:16.18\00:45:18.28 you know, into an adult daycare 00:45:18.31\00:45:20.38 and then after work we can bring her home 00:45:20.42\00:45:22.55 and then she can still be in the home environment. 00:45:22.58\00:45:25.35 So again we touch bases on that to let you know 00:45:25.39\00:45:28.42 that is out there for you. 00:45:28.46\00:45:30.29 And we also want you to know again 00:45:30.33\00:45:33.03 I touch bases on the elderly care respite 00:45:33.06\00:45:36.80 and now I'm gonna touch bases on the independent living. 00:45:36.83\00:45:42.40 We have independent living facilities. 00:45:42.44\00:45:46.14 Also we have people that are out there 00:45:46.17\00:45:48.34 that's looking to rent their home. 00:45:48.38\00:45:51.05 Sometimes you can rent your home 00:45:51.08\00:45:55.65 to someone that's independent. 00:45:55.68\00:45:58.22 Maybe it's like a town house 00:45:58.25\00:46:00.79 or something that they can manage 00:46:00.82\00:46:03.76 when they are downsizing 00:46:03.79\00:46:06.03 we would like to be able for you to open your homes, 00:46:06.06\00:46:09.43 let us know so this way we can have a listing 00:46:09.46\00:46:12.93 of seniors that would like to downsize 00:46:12.97\00:46:16.04 into that type of a living 00:46:16.07\00:46:17.87 and also if you want to be fostered into a home, 00:46:17.91\00:46:23.31 that is also for independent individuals 00:46:23.35\00:46:27.55 that are just looking for maybe a room 00:46:27.58\00:46:29.68 and maybe food to be provided and transportation to church. 00:46:29.72\00:46:34.02 You know, not everybody wants to completely give up 00:46:34.06\00:46:36.83 in charge of their lives. 00:46:36.86\00:46:38.19 Yeah, sure. 00:46:38.23\00:46:39.56 There are some people-- we go to the nursing home, 00:46:39.59\00:46:40.93 sometimes you see people-- my wife and I would say 00:46:40.96\00:46:42.63 well, what are you doing here? 00:46:42.66\00:46:44.13 They're clear as a bell, they are talking, 00:46:44.17\00:46:46.43 sitting you know, down at West Frankfort 00:46:46.47\00:46:48.74 how are you doing? 00:46:48.77\00:46:50.11 Hey, good to see you, Peter. 00:46:50.14\00:46:51.47 What's wrong with you? Nothing. 00:46:51.51\00:46:52.84 So what are you doing in here? Well, my kids are too busy. 00:46:52.87\00:46:55.28 And you say well, 00:46:55.31\00:46:56.64 you shouldn't be in a place like this. 00:46:56.68\00:46:58.01 Well, their lives are too busy 00:46:58.05\00:46:59.38 and that's what she is talking about. 00:46:59.41\00:47:00.82 And they say well, I had a place to go 00:47:00.85\00:47:02.22 I will be glad to be. 00:47:02.25\00:47:03.92 And this is what-- so we are saying 00:47:03.95\00:47:05.55 for those of you that may have a room for rent 00:47:05.59\00:47:08.76 and you don't mind having a person that's able to 00:47:08.79\00:47:12.19 take care of themselves or able to dress themselves 00:47:12.23\00:47:15.73 and they are still in a mobile point 00:47:15.76\00:47:17.73 where they are not convalescent yet 00:47:17.77\00:47:19.77 and that's what we are talking. 00:47:19.80\00:47:21.14 So if you have that kind of situation, 00:47:21.17\00:47:22.77 you once you go to the website and say, 00:47:22.80\00:47:24.77 okay, I'm signing up, I'm listing 00:47:24.81\00:47:27.54 as an independent living entity, here's my information 00:47:27.58\00:47:30.78 and then you add that to the database. 00:47:30.81\00:47:32.28 That's how that works 00:47:32.31\00:47:33.65 and that's what she is talking about. 00:47:33.68\00:47:35.02 So it may sound almost the same when it comes to daycare 00:47:35.05\00:47:37.95 or respite care or foster care 00:47:37.99\00:47:39.95 but each of them has a specified different category. 00:47:39.99\00:47:42.52 Well, now we only have about five minutes 00:47:42.56\00:47:45.46 or so left, so we want to really wind down 00:47:45.49\00:47:47.50 but what we're gonna-- especially want you to do, 00:47:47.50\00:47:50.43 you may not get all this the first time around 00:47:50.47\00:47:53.20 but your ears are catching and so we are gonna give you 00:47:53.23\00:47:55.57 an address here in just a few moments. 00:47:55.60\00:47:57.47 We want you to contact Lecia and then any information 00:47:57.51\00:48:01.88 you need will be on the website. 00:48:01.91\00:48:03.61 It's already been up on your screen a few times 00:48:03.65\00:48:05.85 we will put that up again. 00:48:05.88\00:48:07.38 But basically this is opportunities 00:48:07.42\00:48:10.02 for people who are providers and we went through 00:48:10.05\00:48:13.86 the number the things whether you are in the food delivery 00:48:13.89\00:48:16.62 or the cleaning service, transportation, 00:48:16.66\00:48:18.86 senior housing, all of those things, 00:48:18.89\00:48:21.00 matching that up is what she is doing 00:48:21.03\00:48:23.06 with the seniors in need of those services 00:48:23.10\00:48:25.77 but don't know who to get 00:48:25.80\00:48:27.14 and maybe it's just as important or most important 00:48:27.17\00:48:31.44 who to trust because the older we get the more vulnerable 00:48:31.47\00:48:35.58 it seems that we get to who can we trust. 00:48:35.61\00:48:37.81 So you take that, 00:48:37.85\00:48:39.41 you as you say do the background checks 00:48:39.45\00:48:42.88 and you match everything together 00:48:42.92\00:48:44.45 so it's really SDA Elderly Care Matching Services. 00:48:44.49\00:48:48.82 And so hopefully you may want to get this information, 00:48:48.86\00:48:52.79 you want to read about it then you can call and say 00:48:52.83\00:48:55.30 tell me exactly and wherever you are 00:48:55.33\00:48:57.70 she can match you up 00:48:57.73\00:48:59.07 with the services that you need. 00:48:59.10\00:49:01.24 Many of you are volunteering as she mentioned 00:49:01.27\00:49:03.51 and pathfinders, young people can volunteer, 00:49:03.54\00:49:06.04 others there is actually positions for you 00:49:06.07\00:49:08.84 that you can be paid to do your services 00:49:08.88\00:49:12.45 and I'm not sure who is doing the paying 00:49:12.48\00:49:14.48 and how it works out. 00:49:14.52\00:49:15.85 I know you know but all of that 00:49:15.88\00:49:17.32 we are not gonna have time to go into detail today 00:49:17.35\00:49:19.69 but you call in or write email however you want to do it 00:49:19.72\00:49:23.76 and we will make sure you get this information. 00:49:23.79\00:49:25.93 So we only have three minutes left 00:49:25.96\00:49:27.66 what would you want to say in closing three minutes?
