I want to spend my life 00:00:01.53\00:00:05.30 Mending broken people 00:00:07.50\00:00:12.37 I want to spend my life 00:00:12.40\00:00:18.71 Removing pain 00:00:18.74\00:00:23.76 Lord, let my words 00:00:23.79\00:00:29.96 Heal a heart that hurts 00:00:29.99\00:00:34.55 I want to spend my life 00:00:34.58\00:00:40.32 Mending broken people 00:00:40.35\00:00:45.71 I want to spend my life 00:00:45.74\00:00:51.34 Mending broken people 00:00:51.37\00:00:54.69 Hello, and welcome to 3ABN Today. 00:01:07.74\00:01:09.61 My name is C.A. Murray 00:01:09.64\00:01:10.70 and allow me once again to thank you 00:01:10.73\00:01:12.64 for sharing just a little of your busy day with us. 00:01:12.67\00:01:16.20 We thank you always 00:01:16.23\00:01:17.31 for your love, your prayers, your support of this ministry 00:01:17.34\00:01:19.90 and we thank you for 00:01:19.93\00:01:20.98 what you are doing to partner with us 00:01:21.01\00:01:22.84 to help us do what we are called to do 00:01:22.87\00:01:25.43 and that's to take the name of Jesus 00:01:25.46\00:01:27.31 around the world. 00:01:27.34\00:01:28.39 Got a very, very, very, very, very, very good program today. 00:01:28.42\00:01:32.88 My guest is David Casey. 00:01:32.91\00:01:34.64 You heard that name before because he has been here before, 00:01:34.67\00:01:37.70 but he has come back to give us 00:01:37.73\00:01:39.72 sort of an update, a little refresher 00:01:39.75\00:01:41.82 on the things that the Lord has been doing with him 00:01:41.85\00:01:44.11 and to him and through him 00:01:44.14\00:01:46.08 over the past couple of years since he first came. 00:01:46.11\00:01:49.09 Really a powerful testimony. 00:01:49.12\00:01:50.68 First of all good looking guy, 00:01:50.71\00:01:53.41 strong in the word and I remember from the first, 00:01:53.44\00:01:56.96 the first visit when you were here, 00:01:56.99\00:01:59.92 you were the big dog. 00:01:59.95\00:02:01.04 You know, that was it and we can go back 00:02:01.07\00:02:02.55 and pick up some of that stuff. 00:02:02.58\00:02:03.98 But first of all, good to have you here, man. 00:02:04.01\00:02:05.04 Thank you. Thank you for having me. 00:02:05.07\00:02:06.32 I appreciate it. Yeah. 00:02:06.35\00:02:07.42 God has done some really miraculous things with his life 00:02:07.45\00:02:11.27 and turned him around and this is gonna be an exciting hour 00:02:11.30\00:02:14.83 that we spend together because he is really, 00:02:14.86\00:02:17.22 you talk about hit the ground running, 00:02:17.25\00:02:19.23 David has really picked up some speed 00:02:19.26\00:02:22.14 along with picking up a wife 00:02:22.17\00:02:23.46 and we gonna talk about that too. 00:02:23.49\00:02:25.81 And picked up several facets to his ministry 00:02:25.84\00:02:29.62 over the past couple of years that he's been away, 00:02:29.65\00:02:32.04 so he's got a lot to tell us 00:02:32.07\00:02:33.84 and, you know, every time he speaks, 00:02:33.87\00:02:36.45 he is a testament 00:02:36.48\00:02:37.55 to what God can do to a life once you put it in His hands. 00:02:37.58\00:02:40.88 Can't go too far, can't run too fast, 00:02:40.91\00:02:42.74 can't do too much. 00:02:42.77\00:02:43.98 God can turn you around and use you in a powerful way 00:02:44.01\00:02:47.71 and that's what we are gonna find out 00:02:47.74\00:02:49.10 as you listen to David's story and testimony. 00:02:49.13\00:02:52.31 Again man, good to have you here. 00:02:52.34\00:02:54.44 He's got a glow about him. 00:02:54.47\00:02:55.50 He's big dude but he is doing some big things for the Lord 00:02:55.53\00:02:59.37 and we are gonna talk about that. 00:02:59.40\00:03:00.62 Before you-- and I want couple of things. 00:03:00.65\00:03:02.89 Before we go to the music, Onesimus, 00:03:02.92\00:03:05.91 now Onesimus of course was a slave of Philemon. 00:03:05.94\00:03:09.11 Why did you choose that for your-- 00:03:09.14\00:03:10.51 that name for your ministry? 00:03:10.54\00:03:11.72 I chose that name for my ministry 00:03:11.75\00:03:14.67 when I first read that story in the book 00:03:14.70\00:03:19.31 and Paul met this individual in jail 00:03:19.34\00:03:23.12 and he got out of jail 00:03:23.15\00:03:24.85 and he became a servant of the Lord. 00:03:24.88\00:03:27.96 As soon as, as soon as I read that I said 00:03:27.99\00:03:29.98 man, that would be a good name for a prison ministry 00:03:30.01\00:03:32.96 and I chose that while I was still in prison. 00:03:32.99\00:03:35.77 And not just that, in the Greek 00:03:35.80\00:03:38.17 that name means a value, value useful and profitable 00:03:38.20\00:03:45.23 and I said what more do I want to do. 00:03:45.26\00:03:47.19 This is exactly what I want to do for the Lord. 00:03:47.22\00:03:49.50 So I chose that name Onesimus Freedom Ministry 00:03:49.53\00:03:53.02 and that's what my ministry is about. 00:03:53.05\00:03:55.08 I'm proclaiming freedom to people 00:03:55.11\00:03:57.74 and not just necessarily people in a prison. 00:03:57.77\00:04:00.29 Anybody can be in bondage to sin anywhere we are at 00:04:00.32\00:04:06.44 and this is what my ministry is all about 00:04:06.47\00:04:08.40 proclaiming freedom to people 00:04:08.43\00:04:10.20 through the power of Jesus Christ 00:04:10.23\00:04:12.15 to change people's lives. 00:04:12.18\00:04:13.26 Excellent. 00:04:13.29\00:04:14.42 Now, when we talk about prison ministries, 00:04:14.45\00:04:15.84 some people come with theoretical knowledge. 00:04:15.87\00:04:18.92 You know where I'm going, 00:04:18.95\00:04:20.14 and some come with inside knowledge. 00:04:20.17\00:04:22.80 You kind of did it from the inside out, 00:04:22.83\00:04:25.01 let's go back before we go to our music 00:04:25.04\00:04:26.34 I just want to touch on this. 00:04:26.37\00:04:28.24 You didn't spend like one or two years in the joint. 00:04:28.27\00:04:30.39 You were there for a good little taste of time. 00:04:30.42\00:04:32.59 Yeah, not just in the joint, it was a lifestyle. 00:04:32.62\00:04:35.47 Yeah. 00:04:35.50\00:04:36.53 And last time I was here, I talked about it 00:04:36.56\00:04:38.91 but I didn't tell you, 00:04:38.94\00:04:40.01 I served over 24 years in state and federal institutions 00:04:40.04\00:04:44.79 and I had been in dozens of them. 00:04:44.82\00:04:46.96 And it wasn't just one trip to prison, 00:04:46.99\00:04:49.26 I've been to prison five times. 00:04:49.29\00:04:51.57 So it was a lifestyle 00:04:51.60\00:04:52.94 and my thinking and my mind was so distorted, 00:04:52.97\00:04:56.62 so twisted around backwards, 00:04:56.65\00:04:58.69 I didn't look at life as 00:04:58.72\00:04:59.93 how long I was gonna be in prison, 00:04:59.96\00:05:04.01 I looked at life as how long I'm gonna be on the streets? 00:05:04.04\00:05:07.43 How long can I stay out? 00:05:07.46\00:05:09.22 Oh, I just walked down seven, I hope I can stay out seven. 00:05:09.25\00:05:12.82 So my goal was to stay out as long as I was in, 00:05:12.85\00:05:15.69 it wasn't a matter of whether I was gonna go to prison or not. 00:05:15.72\00:05:18.39 Right. 00:05:18.42\00:05:19.45 In that lifestyle you are either gonna go to the penitentiary 00:05:19.48\00:05:21.93 or you are going to the cemetery pointblank 00:05:21.96\00:05:24.71 that's all there is to it, 00:05:24.74\00:05:26.01 if you continue in that lifestyle. 00:05:26.04\00:05:28.13 So I lived that lifestyle 00:05:28.16\00:05:29.95 and only by the grace of God I survived it 00:05:29.98\00:05:31.85 because many, many those dudes that I ran with are dead. 00:05:31.88\00:05:37.27 I mean, and they didn't have the opportunity. 00:05:37.30\00:05:39.80 I use a picture sometimes and I do my testimony 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.66 in a juvenile detention center. 00:05:42.69\00:05:44.72 I got a picture of me and four other guys 00:05:44.75\00:05:47.09 or five of us standing in and posing on the prison yard 00:05:47.12\00:05:49.96 all of us looking hard, all tattooed up 00:05:49.99\00:05:52.57 in a razor wire in the background, 00:05:52.60\00:05:54.50 gun tower in the background. 00:05:54.53\00:05:56.73 All the guys in that picture except for me are now dead. 00:05:56.76\00:05:59.64 Wow. 00:05:59.67\00:06:00.73 And if you would have ask them 00:06:00.76\00:06:02.01 and someone overdosed from heroin, 00:06:02.04\00:06:05.95 David was shot and killed, 00:06:05.98\00:06:08.66 another guy Jimmy was killed in a motorcycle accident. 00:06:08.69\00:06:11.32 So if you would ask those guys today or at that time 00:06:11.35\00:06:16.64 when we did that photo 00:06:16.67\00:06:18.63 how long you are gonna live? 00:06:18.66\00:06:19.88 They would have thought they were gonna live just like, 00:06:19.91\00:06:21.71 you know, 80, 70, 80 years old. 00:06:21.74\00:06:24.37 Well, that's the thing 00:06:24.40\00:06:25.43 we are never guaranteed another breath. 00:06:25.46\00:06:27.65 So in that lifestyle it just eats people up 00:06:27.68\00:06:30.48 and this is part of my-- 00:06:30.51\00:06:32.83 my desire is to let people know that there is a way out 00:06:32.86\00:06:37.16 and we all hear these statements in prison. 00:06:37.19\00:06:40.60 Oh, well, you know, just ask Jesus to come into your heart 00:06:40.63\00:06:43.52 and He will change your life. 00:06:43.55\00:06:46.02 - That is true. - Yeah. 00:06:46.06\00:06:47.50 That is true. 00:06:47.53\00:06:48.75 But the fascinating part about it is, 00:06:48.78\00:06:51.47 you change the way we think 00:06:51.50\00:06:54.11 so these things that we used to find it, 00:06:54.14\00:06:56.64 you know, exciting or fun 00:06:56.67\00:06:58.98 we no longer have a desire to do 00:06:59.01\00:07:01.58 and it changes your lifestyle 00:07:01.61\00:07:03.16 because you no longer have those desires. 00:07:03.19\00:07:06.05 Now, let's-- I keeping pushing this the music back 00:07:06.08\00:07:08.81 but there are some things I want to establish 00:07:08.84\00:07:10.82 because I asked you-- 00:07:10.85\00:07:11.91 I'm trying to pick up your speech pattern 00:07:11.94\00:07:14.53 and when you said Detroit I said okay that fits. 00:07:14.56\00:07:16.95 So you are Detroit guy. 00:07:16.98\00:07:18.31 - Yes. - Urban guy. 00:07:18.34\00:07:19.53 - Yes. - Street guy. 00:07:19.56\00:07:20.71 Walk me through some of the early years, 00:07:21.04\00:07:22.82 you know, because you went in at what age? 00:07:22.85\00:07:25.54 - Seventeen. - For the first time. 00:07:25.57\00:07:26.63 The first time I went in for arm robbery at 17-years-old 00:07:26.66\00:07:30.13 and I live a life of just, 00:07:30.16\00:07:34.76 you know, through my upbringing 00:07:34.79\00:07:35.92 and I don't mean to discredit my parents. 00:07:35.95\00:07:38.38 It's just the way life went, that's that way it went 00:07:38.41\00:07:41.40 and I was raised into that lifestyle 00:07:41.43\00:07:45.70 not that-- that's what my parents chose 00:07:45.73\00:07:47.73 but through the circumstances that's what, what happened. 00:07:47.76\00:07:51.11 So I was involved in crime and stuff as early, 00:07:51.14\00:07:54.62 my earliest childhood memories. 00:07:54.65\00:07:57.14 Then at 17 it should have been no surprise to anybody 00:07:57.17\00:08:01.64 that I wound up in state prison for arm robbery because 00:08:01.67\00:08:05.51 I was a heroin addict, I was, you know, 00:08:05.54\00:08:08.86 using intravenous drugs all these things. 00:08:08.89\00:08:11.26 It's bad as they get. 00:08:11.29\00:08:12.53 Yeah. 00:08:12.56\00:08:13.62 So I went in at 17 for armed robbery 00:08:13.65\00:08:17.09 with a 5 to 15 year sentence that I wound up, 00:08:17.12\00:08:20.48 you know, I escaped during that process of that five 00:08:20.51\00:08:24.19 but I wound up serving five and half years on that sentence. 00:08:24.22\00:08:27.74 And got out thinking you know, I'm never going back 00:08:27.77\00:08:34.27 and it was a very, very short period of time 00:08:34.30\00:08:37.39 where I, you know, I got right back 00:08:37.42\00:08:39.54 involved in crime, right back in the lifestyle, 00:08:39.57\00:08:42.59 went right back to the hood and boom, 00:08:42.62\00:08:45.09 wound up right back in prison 00:08:45.12\00:08:46.43 and that time I knew then this is it, 00:08:46.46\00:08:50.43 this is the way it's gonna be. 00:08:50.46\00:08:51.62 I'm gonna be either in prison or in the streets. 00:08:51.65\00:08:54.43 I at least had enough common sense to realize 00:08:54.46\00:08:57.32 if you live in this way this is gonna be prison. 00:08:57.35\00:09:01.17 You're gonna go to prison. 00:09:01.20\00:09:02.25 You are not gonna be able to continuously 00:09:02.28\00:09:03.49 get away with crime. 00:09:03.52\00:09:04.60 Yeah. 00:09:04.63\00:09:05.68 There is gonna be a point where they are gonna catch you, 00:09:05.71\00:09:07.24 then its time to pay the piper 00:09:07.27\00:09:09.06 or the cemetery as I seen those guys go to. 00:09:09.09\00:09:12.10 Now let me ask this, David, because you are a big guy. 00:09:12.13\00:09:15.87 Obviously the threat of prison didn't deter you. 00:09:15.90\00:09:20.70 I mean, you kind of a big man on campus that was no-- 00:09:20.73\00:09:24.21 you could handle that. 00:09:24.24\00:09:25.27 Yeah, but that's not necessarily even-- 00:09:25.30\00:09:29.04 I've seen little guys, you know, five foot five 00:09:29.07\00:09:32.86 that are very dangerous individuals 00:09:32.89\00:09:35.97 as far as on the yard. 00:09:36.00\00:09:37.85 The thing with the lifestyle though with my parents, 00:09:37.88\00:09:41.39 my dad inadvertently raised us to be aggressive. 00:09:41.42\00:09:46.38 So I was very aggressive, 00:09:46.41\00:09:50.56 you know, so that lifestyle and through the violence 00:09:50.59\00:09:53.23 within my home would-- and with my dad, 00:09:53.26\00:09:57.26 I mean, my mother taught us to steal, 00:09:57.29\00:09:59.90 my dad tried to beat that out of us. 00:09:59.93\00:10:02.37 So I was taught from a early age 00:10:02.40\00:10:04.93 I can control you through violence. 00:10:04.96\00:10:06.63 Through violence, yeah. 00:10:06.66\00:10:07.69 So naturally at 17 going into prison 00:10:07.72\00:10:10.71 and it was a very violent situation 00:10:10.74\00:10:12.46 and in that time in Michigan 00:10:12.49\00:10:13.98 they didn't send people young to a-- a young guy prison. 00:10:14.01\00:10:18.20 There could be another thing, right, yeah. 00:10:18.23\00:10:19.47 They sent you, I went straight into Jackson Prison 00:10:19.50\00:10:22.28 with 6,000 inmates walled prison in Southern Michigan 00:10:22.31\00:10:26.22 and its maximum security prison. 00:10:26.25\00:10:29.03 So I hate to say it, I did feel comfortable. 00:10:29.06\00:10:35.56 I got to a point where I was, 00:10:35.59\00:10:38.17 I was able to deal with the environment and I fit in. 00:10:38.20\00:10:42.45 So I-- because I understood the rules right away. 00:10:42.48\00:10:46.57 This is how you play the game. 00:10:46.60\00:10:47.99 You either gonna-- 00:10:48.02\00:10:49.24 you either downward or you are not. 00:10:49.27\00:10:50.77 You either gonna, you know, these are the rules. 00:10:50.81\00:10:53.70 So it had to be a matter of high aggression 00:10:53.73\00:10:56.78 to be able to survive it. 00:10:56.81\00:10:58.23 And so my size was one thing that might had deter 00:10:58.26\00:11:02.20 somebody from to try to, 00:11:02.23\00:11:03.92 you know, test you but I've seen small guys too-- 00:11:03.95\00:11:07.81 Yes, kind of go. Yeah. 00:11:07.84\00:11:09.32 - You can make it. - Yeah. Yeah. 00:11:09.35\00:11:10.71 So your, your lifestyle, your-- 00:11:10.74\00:11:14.86 the way you approach life was to go at it, 00:11:14.89\00:11:17.60 to go aggressively. 00:11:17.63\00:11:18.66 - Always. - Yeah. 00:11:18.69\00:11:19.75 Always was even, even when I got involved 00:11:19.78\00:11:22.20 in a motorcycle club. 00:11:22.23\00:11:23.90 I got involved with the Outlaws Motorcycle Club 00:11:23.93\00:11:26.21 which was a one-percenter club 00:11:26.24\00:11:28.41 and that is not just a motorcycle club, 00:11:28.44\00:11:32.79 it's a one-percenter club and that one-percenter means 00:11:32.82\00:11:36.23 a group of guys that are willing to kill or die 00:11:36.26\00:11:38.83 for that motorcycle club. 00:11:38.86\00:11:40.79 So it's-- that was a very high level subculture 00:11:40.82\00:11:45.93 even-- and it didn't matter if I was doing drugs, 00:11:45.96\00:11:48.62 I had to do the most drugs. 00:11:48.65\00:11:50.34 If I was whatever, I would try things 00:11:50.37\00:11:53.50 and do things that most people would think, 00:11:53.53\00:11:56.60 you know, won't even want to consider 00:11:56.63\00:11:59.12 but I-- everything in my life has been extreme 00:11:59.15\00:12:02.22 and you know, it comes right back to the Bible 00:12:02.25\00:12:05.99 now, its the same outlook. 00:12:06.02\00:12:07.72 My character has not-- 00:12:07.75\00:12:09.80 that aspect of my character is not changed 00:12:09.83\00:12:12.55 and as you and I were speaking earlier, 00:12:12.58\00:12:14.57 I'm trying to be an extreme Christian. 00:12:14.60\00:12:17.13 I'm trying, I'm-- so this is the thing 00:12:17.16\00:12:20.31 that I tried to be a fundamentalist Christian. 00:12:20.34\00:12:22.77 I tried to let the Bible and the Holy Spirit lead 00:12:22.80\00:12:25.60 and dictate my lifestyle. 00:12:25.63\00:12:27.28 So this is part of the-- it's part of my character 00:12:27.31\00:12:31.08 that God is still using and its the same way 00:12:31.11\00:12:34.94 when I go into the prisons, 00:12:34.97\00:12:36.68 Lord has blessed me to be able to go 00:12:36.71\00:12:38.61 into a state prisons in Texas and juvenile detention center. 00:12:38.64\00:12:42.60 I go in each week. 00:12:42.63\00:12:44.48 The God has blessed me with the ability 00:12:44.51\00:12:46.29 and I go in the same character and deliver this message. 00:12:46.32\00:12:51.15 Yeah. Yeah. 00:12:51.18\00:12:52.21 So and guys are responding to it. 00:12:52.24\00:12:55.08 And sometimes it takes a little that hardness, 00:12:55.12\00:12:59.50 sometimes it takes that people especially in that lifestyle, 00:12:59.53\00:13:02.92 kind of culture. 00:13:02.95\00:13:04.00 Yeah. Yeah. 00:13:04.03\00:13:05.06 I've not seen, I've not seen a guy-- 00:13:05.09\00:13:06.98 you know, the people that witness to me, 00:13:07.01\00:13:08.69 the prison ministry team that I encountered in Michigan 00:13:08.72\00:13:11.98 through the Ann Arbor Church in Michigan. 00:13:12.01\00:13:13.53 They were coming into the Milan Federal Prison 00:13:13.56\00:13:15.63 in Michigan. 00:13:15.66\00:13:16.73 Through that prison ministry 00:13:16.76\00:13:18.57 that none of those guys had criminal histories. 00:13:18.60\00:13:20.71 So it doesn't-- 00:13:20.74\00:13:21.80 it didn't necessarily mean you got to be a prior felon 00:13:21.83\00:13:24.59 to be able to reach people in prison. 00:13:24.62\00:13:26.22 Agreed. I understand. 00:13:26.25\00:13:27.28 There is a time for and then there is time where, 00:13:27.31\00:13:30.81 you know, sometimes you just got a-- 00:13:30.84\00:13:33.14 I have a ministry that God's using me in my way. 00:13:33.17\00:13:37.31 Right. Right. 00:13:37.34\00:13:38.43 And I think you look at James, John, Peter, aggressive guys 00:13:38.46\00:13:43.72 and Christ knew if I can get them 00:13:43.75\00:13:45.60 the channel that aggression-- 00:13:45.63\00:13:46.81 I mean, why change? When you are serving the devil, 00:13:46.84\00:13:49.57 I mean, you're full boar serving the devil, 00:13:49.60\00:13:51.51 so why not put that same kind of energy 00:13:51.55\00:13:54.15 into serving the Lord? 00:13:54.18\00:13:55.27 You don't want to, you don't want to be weak 00:13:55.30\00:13:57.48 and turn into a wimp now. 00:13:57.51\00:13:59.08 This is time to get serious, you can get busy. 00:13:59.11\00:14:01.53 So the same kind of energy that you use in a life of crime, 00:14:01.56\00:14:06.10 you're now focused into serving Christ. 00:14:06.13\00:14:08.72 - Yes. - Yeah. Yeah. 00:14:08.75\00:14:09.96 As you forgive my aim nothing wrong with that. 00:14:09.99\00:14:11.81 Right. 00:14:11.84\00:14:12.92 That's just how it ought to be. 00:14:12.95\00:14:14.43 You don't want to back off serving the Lord, 00:14:14.46\00:14:16.07 giving the same energy that you gave to Satan. 00:14:16.10\00:14:17.41 It's actually time to step it up. 00:14:17.44\00:14:19.15 Yeah, it is. Seventh-day Adventist 00:21:39.76\00:21:42.18 in my mind I'm thinking for some reason 00:21:42.21\00:21:44.60 I envisioned Amish people. 00:21:44.63\00:21:47.20 You know, none against Amish people-- 00:21:47.23\00:21:48.67 Right, right, I understand. 00:21:48.70\00:21:49.76 None against their overalls 00:21:49.79\00:21:50.87 but for some reason that concept, 00:21:50.90\00:21:52.65 the beards, the overalls, the hats came into my mind. 00:21:52.68\00:21:56.36 I had no thinking of what Seventh-day Adventist was 00:21:56.39\00:22:00.90 and I started-- you know, I got curious 00:22:00.93\00:22:03.82 and I started going over there 00:22:03.85\00:22:06.31 and speaking with these volunteers 00:22:06.34\00:22:08.23 and they-- I challenged them 00:22:08.26\00:22:11.22 on every aspect of the scriptures that, 00:22:11.25\00:22:13.67 you know, that I thought 00:22:13.70\00:22:15.15 and I finally got to a point where I said, 00:22:15.18\00:22:17.92 you know what, if I'm gonna be a Christian 00:22:17.95\00:22:20.78 then I can only be what the Bible says a Christian is, 00:22:20.81\00:22:23.68 it's gonna be nothing else. 00:22:23.71\00:22:25.52 And-- then I just accepted that fact 00:22:25.55\00:22:29.45 and we continued to study 00:22:29.48\00:22:30.97 and I decided to be baptized in there, 00:22:31.00\00:22:33.68 in August 10th of 2002. 00:22:33.71\00:22:36.79 And Pastor Dan Hall was the pastor 00:22:36.82\00:22:39.31 at Ann Arbor Church at that time. 00:22:39.34\00:22:40.83 He is in Georgia now baptized me. 00:22:40.86\00:22:42.65 Yeah. 00:22:42.68\00:22:43.75 So you still had a little stretch on your, on your bit. 00:22:43.78\00:22:46.18 I mean, you got some time still that-- 00:22:46.21\00:22:47.89 yeah, you won't come in right away. 00:22:47.92\00:22:49.29 Yeah, I got transferred down to FCI Seagoville in Dallas 00:22:49.32\00:22:54.24 and had a nice experience there because they didn't have any 00:22:54.27\00:22:56.77 Seventh-day Adventist services at that institution 00:22:56.80\00:22:59.83 and I was blessed to be able to get it started. 00:22:59.86\00:23:02.70 Oh, wow. 00:23:02.73\00:23:03.76 Took 10 months and then some volunteers come in there 00:23:03.79\00:23:06.86 and Brother Anderson he is pastor Anderson 00:23:06.89\00:23:10.08 now at Arlington Southern Worship Center 00:23:10.11\00:23:14.56 in Arlington 00:23:14.59\00:23:15.71 and another pastor, Pastor Rogers Johnson 00:23:15.74\00:23:19.00 was coming in. 00:23:19.03\00:23:20.06 He would've been a pastor of one of the churches 00:23:20.09\00:23:22.04 there in Dallas. 00:23:22.07\00:23:23.18 So they start coming into the prison there 00:23:23.21\00:23:24.76 and by time I left Seagoville we had two baptisms 00:23:24.79\00:23:28.36 and had, you know, 12 to 14 inmates in there 00:23:28.39\00:23:31.34 on service every week. 00:23:31.37\00:23:32.83 Yeah. 00:23:32.86\00:23:33.95 Now you readily admit that when you were in prison, 00:23:33.98\00:23:36.17 you were not a shrinking violet, 00:23:36.20\00:23:37.57 you weren't a rich shy retiring guy. 00:23:37.60\00:23:39.73 You kind of took control of your surrounding. 00:23:39.76\00:23:41.51 - Oh, definitely. - Yeah. 00:23:41.54\00:23:42.77 That when I was in-- before I was even 00:23:42.80\00:23:47.10 professed to be a Christian, 00:23:47.13\00:23:49.03 when I was in, I was considered like 00:23:49.06\00:23:51.94 a shot collar or a rock boss, 00:23:51.97\00:23:56.20 you got all different names for it 00:23:56.23\00:23:57.55 but, yeah, no, I was very aggressive inmate 00:23:57.58\00:24:01.07 and you know, I did everything that 00:24:01.10\00:24:04.90 you can do to people in prison. 00:24:04.93\00:24:06.24 I've seen everything happening. 00:24:06.27\00:24:07.87 In 24 years I was in prison riots 00:24:07.90\00:24:10.11 in Jackson, Michigan. 00:24:10.14\00:24:11.81 In 1981 I've seen every act of violence 00:24:11.84\00:24:15.44 that can be done to people. 00:24:15.47\00:24:16.94 I participated in all kinds of violent acts against inmates 00:24:16.97\00:24:22.21 and it's all over. 00:24:22.24\00:24:25.50 Could be something as silly as this guy is from another town, 00:24:25.53\00:24:28.13 said something about your town, 00:24:28.16\00:24:30.06 you know, or drugs, or you know, 00:24:30.09\00:24:32.53 prison is a subculture that it's like a little town, 00:24:32.57\00:24:35.66 like a little world in there. 00:24:35.69\00:24:36.77 Yeah. Yeah. 00:29:23.82\00:29:24.85 You know, people-- 00:29:24.88\00:29:26.17 you know, just because you've not seen them around 00:29:26.20\00:29:27.81 you might see them on a motorcycle 00:29:27.84\00:29:29.07 driving down the street or something 00:29:29.10\00:29:30.18 but they are there. 00:29:30.21\00:29:31.94 And obviously those clubs are very violent. 00:29:31.97\00:29:33.94 Very. 00:29:33.97\00:29:35.00 Yeah. Yeah. Lot of bad stuff going around. 00:29:35.03\00:29:37.30 Well, especially when you are looking 00:29:37.33\00:29:38.91 at the aspect of a one-percenter clubs 00:29:38.94\00:29:42.05 there's very few in the country that have that title 00:29:42.08\00:29:45.63 and they don't want anybody using that title 00:29:45.66\00:29:48.37 as a one-percenter means kind of the worst of the worst. 00:29:48.40\00:29:54.68 So you-- your testimony, 00:29:54.71\00:29:57.67 your story really is one of God bringing you a long way, man. 00:29:57.70\00:30:01.94 You were like deep in the stuff, 00:30:01.97\00:30:03.09 not toe in the water 00:30:03.12\00:30:04.51 you were in that, in the ocean. 00:30:04.54\00:30:05.93 Every aspect of violence that comes with that lifestyle 00:30:05.96\00:30:08.86 I've committed it, I've done it 00:30:08.89\00:30:12.19 and you know, as far as being in a point in my life where 00:30:12.22\00:30:17.22 there was a time in my life where I thought 00:30:17.25\00:30:19.05 I wouldn't always gonna drink beer. 00:30:19.08\00:30:20.99 I was always gonna smoke weed, I was always gonna party. 00:30:21.02\00:30:25.16 There was a time in my life when I thought like that 00:30:25.19\00:30:26.98 always. 00:30:27.01\00:30:28.04 Yeah. 00:30:28.07\00:30:29.10 And it wasn't until through, 00:30:29.13\00:30:30.67 coming through the knowledge of Jesus Christ that our minds, 00:30:30.70\00:30:34.93 I can't stress this enough when I go into the prisons. 00:30:34.96\00:30:38.75 You are gonna have a transformation. 00:30:38.78\00:30:40.94 If there is no transformation, then something is wrong. 00:30:40.97\00:30:44.16 Something is not working right. 00:30:44.19\00:30:45.50 You are not praying enough, 00:30:45.53\00:30:46.59 you are not studying enough, something. 00:30:46.62\00:30:48.62 But through the process of the transformation, 00:30:48.65\00:30:52.32 you no longer have the desires to do these things. 00:30:52.35\00:30:56.07 So this is-- well, once I come to that understanding 00:30:56.10\00:30:58.87 and start seeing that myself, 00:30:58.90\00:31:00.60 this is when I-- I got to tell other people about this. 00:31:00.63\00:31:03.67 I have to because other people know. 00:31:03.70\00:31:06.65 Yeah. 00:31:06.68\00:31:07.71 And that's very, very important that 00:31:07.74\00:31:09.43 no matter how far you've fallen, 00:31:09.46\00:31:11.38 God can rearrange your taste buds as it were. 00:31:11.41\00:31:13.55 So those things that you thought 00:31:13.58\00:31:14.71 you couldn't live without, you actually end up hating. 00:31:14.74\00:31:16.09 Right. 00:31:16.12\00:31:17.17 Yeah. And it was that way for you. 00:31:17.20\00:31:18.45 Right. Amen. 00:31:18.48\00:31:19.80 Yeah. I have no desire for it. 00:31:19.83\00:31:21.81 So, you know, not to say you're free from all temptations 00:31:21.84\00:31:27.64 but nevertheless I actually feel day by day 00:31:27.67\00:31:31.86 as I pray and study God's word, 00:31:31.89\00:31:34.33 I become stronger and stronger in my walk. 00:31:34.36\00:31:37.54 Amen. 00:31:37.57\00:31:38.84 And it comes back to the aspect to 00:31:38.87\00:31:41.06 and I tried to mention this to people a lot 00:31:41.09\00:31:42.95 because we have to put on armor daily. 00:31:42.98\00:31:46.26 If I'm gonna battle every day, 00:31:46.29\00:31:49.17 I have to be prepared to battle every day. 00:31:49.20\00:31:51.99 The minute I decide to walk out of the house 00:31:52.02\00:31:54.27 without my breast plate, 00:31:54.30\00:31:57.27 I'm open for attack. Yeah. Yeah. 00:31:57.30\00:31:59.50 If I, well, I'm not gonna put the shoes on today, 00:31:59.53\00:32:02.53 I just got my helmet of salvation on I'm good to go, 00:32:02.56\00:32:05.85 then we are open ourselves up. 00:32:05.88\00:32:07.28 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well said. 00:32:07.31\00:32:10.27 You come out of prison, you've got this desire 00:32:10.30\00:32:12.50 and this desire to do ministry 00:32:12.53\00:32:13.75 was formulated in prison, correct? 00:32:13.78\00:32:15.49 In prison because that's when I come to the realization that 00:32:15.52\00:32:19.75 through the process and it didn't happen overnight. 00:32:19.78\00:32:22.67 I didn't have the dramatic 00:32:22.70\00:32:25.13 Damascus road type experience in prison. 00:32:25.16\00:32:27.69 I had one but it wasn't dramatic. 00:32:27.72\00:32:30.04 It was actually in a chow hall 00:32:30.07\00:32:31.86 while I was yelling a bunch of profanity to other inmates 00:32:31.89\00:32:35.37 and had been going over to the chapel secretly 00:32:35.40\00:32:38.53 studying the Bible and watching C. D. Brooks 00:32:38.56\00:32:42.08 and Doug Batchelor tapes and Mark Finley tapes 00:32:42.11\00:32:45.22 and I had this experience in the chow hall 00:32:45.25\00:32:47.08 where I was yelling some profanity 00:32:47.12\00:32:48.46 and that's where the, man, 00:32:48.49\00:32:51.97 am I-- am I a big fraud? 00:32:52.00\00:32:55.05 Am I a big phony? 00:32:55.08\00:32:56.11 Yeah. 00:32:56.14\00:32:57.17 And because it seemed like everybody in the chow 00:32:57.20\00:32:59.57 turned and looked at me like, 00:32:59.60\00:33:01.92 man, you're going over at a chapeland 00:33:01.95\00:33:03.47 you coming here talking like this. 00:33:03.50\00:33:05.03 This what I thought but this is the Holy Spirit 00:33:05.06\00:33:07.71 telling me this 00:33:07.74\00:33:09.49 and I went back to my cell and got down on my knees 00:33:09.52\00:33:12.25 and prayed about it and that's when I said, 00:33:12.28\00:33:14.06 you know what, that's it. 00:33:14.09\00:33:15.28 Wow. That's it. 00:33:15.31\00:33:16.57 This is real and I'm going with it. 00:33:16.60\00:33:18.57 And there's been no looking back. 00:33:18.60\00:33:21.04 Praise God. 00:33:21.07\00:33:22.10 Now before our time gets over, let's go through this pictures 00:33:22.13\00:33:24.50 and kind of walk through that stuff 00:33:24.53\00:33:26.05 and I got some other stuff that I want to ask you, 00:33:26.08\00:33:27.56 but let's go to the first picture. 00:33:27.59\00:33:28.88 This is me and that shirt I got on 00:33:28.91\00:33:30.88 and I wanted that picture seen because the shirt says, 00:33:30.91\00:33:33.13 "Snitches are a Dying Breed." 00:33:33.16\00:33:34.50 And those shirts are just slogans. 00:33:34.53\00:33:36.63 Those were things that we lived. 00:33:36.66\00:33:37.76 That's a mess. Yeah. Yes. 00:33:37.79\00:33:38.82 Yeah. Yeah. We live that. 00:33:38.85\00:33:39.88 That was part of the lifestyle. 00:33:39.91\00:33:40.96 Wow. 00:33:40.99\00:33:43.10 This was a tattoo shop I had. 00:33:43.13\00:33:44.78 By the way I'm covered in tattoos 00:33:44.81\00:33:46.59 and I don't recommend them and this shop was called 00:33:46.62\00:33:48.79 "Marked for Life" and for real. 00:33:48.82\00:33:50.88 And I don't recommend them. 00:33:50.91\00:33:53.28 By the way this was me on my way to prison. 00:33:53.31\00:33:55.49 They had me self surrender so we decided to ride 00:33:55.52\00:33:58.44 the motorcycles to the prison 00:33:58.47\00:33:59.93 the day I went to turn myself in, 00:33:59.96\00:34:02.11 in June of 99 and that didn't go over good. 00:34:02.14\00:34:06.63 This is the prison ID card that they give you in there 00:34:06.66\00:34:09.95 and that was my prison number in the federal prison. 00:34:09.98\00:34:15.05 And yeah, that motorcycle entry 00:34:15.08\00:34:17.10 didn't go over too good in the prison. 00:34:17.13\00:34:19.09 This was me when I got baptized in the prison 00:34:19.12\00:34:21.40 with Pastor Dan Hall. 00:34:21.43\00:34:23.27 Now you say it didn't go over too good 00:34:23.37\00:34:24.48 among the fellow inmates and among the guards. 00:34:24.51\00:34:26.58 All the staff that-- 00:34:26.61\00:34:27.64 They thought you were kind of fun. 00:34:27.67\00:34:28.70 Oh, yeah, they felt 00:34:28.73\00:34:29.77 I was trying to intimidate the staff 00:34:29.80\00:34:31.36 by showing them I had some power. 00:34:31.39\00:34:34.25 And this, you know, I was blessed 00:34:34.28\00:34:35.61 to be able to participate in AFCOE program here 00:34:35.64\00:34:39.29 just recently in Albuquerque 00:34:39.32\00:34:40.93 with the Landmarks of Prophecy Series 00:34:40.96\00:34:42.85 with Pastor Doug Batchelor. 00:34:42.88\00:34:43.96 That's the AFCOE class. 00:34:43.99\00:34:45.63 That's the group of us in the beginning 00:34:45.66\00:34:48.17 and we went on a little hike there in Albuquerque 00:34:48.20\00:34:51.05 and that was a real blessing to me 00:34:51.08\00:34:52.99 to be able to participate in AFCOE 00:34:53.02\00:34:54.60 and if you remember when I was here last time, 00:34:54.63\00:34:56.80 I mentioned I would like to go to AFCOE. 00:34:56.83\00:34:58.90 Yeah. Yeah. 00:34:58.93\00:34:59.96 And here's it happened. Then I graduated the class. 00:34:59.99\00:35:04.44 I've been very excited about it and what some of the things 00:35:04.47\00:35:08.43 that God's done with me in my life through that. 00:35:08.46\00:35:10.92 Even being in Albuquerque, I was also able to be appointed 00:35:10.95\00:35:16.79 a position within the Texico Conference 00:35:16.82\00:35:19.33 as associate director of prison ministries. 00:35:19.36\00:35:22.41 I'm glad they came back to you 00:35:22.44\00:35:23.47 because I want to just stay here just a second. 00:35:23.50\00:35:25.26 What was the AFCOE experience like for you? 00:35:25.29\00:35:27.35 I know something you wanted to do. 00:35:27.38\00:35:28.81 Did it meet with your expectation? 00:35:28.84\00:35:30.28 Did you really grow and learn? 00:35:30.31\00:35:31.56 It surpassed. 00:35:31.59\00:35:33.68 I thought through to my studying, 00:35:33.71\00:35:36.54 being studying the Bible and being in prison, 00:35:36.57\00:35:38.57 you know, a lot of people 00:35:38.60\00:35:39.63 don't have the time to study out, 00:35:39.66\00:35:40.98 you know, on the streets I can do in prison. 00:35:41.01\00:35:43.12 I thought I have a edge on them. 00:35:43.15\00:35:44.39 Yeah. 00:35:44.42\00:35:45.45 No, it's a very challenging program. 00:35:45.48\00:35:47.26 Praise the Lord. I was shot. 00:35:47.29\00:35:48.89 I honestly was and I was worried 00:35:48.92\00:35:51.27 all the way up here to just recently 00:35:51.30\00:35:53.21 I received my certificate and I got four A's and one B. 00:35:53.24\00:35:56.54 All right. 00:35:56.57\00:35:57.60 So I did better than I thought I would do 00:35:57.63\00:35:59.99 but I-- man, it was very challenging. 00:36:00.02\00:36:03.79 It's a very strong program and I recommend it for anybody 00:36:03.82\00:36:08.44 even just want to make your deeper faith 00:36:08.47\00:36:11.10 with your personal relationship with Jesus. 00:36:11.13\00:36:13.93 It was very good program. Praise the Lord. 00:36:13.96\00:36:15.53 You know, you think about people 00:36:15.56\00:36:17.02 who are career criminals, 00:36:17.05\00:36:19.28 a lot of those guys are pretty brand new guys. 00:36:19.31\00:36:21.06 I mean, they are not stupid, they just pointed 00:36:21.09\00:36:24.14 their energies in the wrong direction, 00:36:24.17\00:36:26.19 but it's not a matter of smart or dumb. 00:36:26.22\00:36:28.27 To live out there and to play the system 00:36:28.30\00:36:30.45 like a lot of you guys do, 00:36:30.48\00:36:31.73 you go to got to have something upstairs. 00:36:31.76\00:36:33.71 And it showed in my lifestyle because through the years, 00:36:33.74\00:36:37.74 you know, if you go to work somewhere 00:36:37.77\00:36:39.19 and you work your way up through a corporation, 00:36:39.22\00:36:41.70 you become more successful. 00:36:41.73\00:36:43.97 It did the same with me in that lifestyle, 00:36:44.00\00:36:46.48 before my last prison sentence I had the tattoo shop, 00:36:46.51\00:36:50.59 I had nightclub in Detroit Motor City Social Club, 00:36:50.62\00:36:54.63 I was part owner of another bar which I couldn't own bars 00:36:54.66\00:36:57.49 but I could buy it and have it on someone else's name. 00:36:57.52\00:37:00.28 Also with our gambling north star vending 00:37:00.31\00:37:03.24 gambling machines in bars. 00:37:03.27\00:37:06.63 I was doing money collecting. 00:37:06.66\00:37:08.99 You name it, I was living that lifestyle and, 00:37:09.02\00:37:12.53 you know, I had the money that came with it. 00:37:12.56\00:37:13.96 Right. 00:37:13.99\00:37:15.03 So you knew how to make money. 00:37:15.06\00:37:16.09 I mean, you always had cash in hand. 00:37:16.12\00:37:17.83 Oh, yeah. You understand? 00:38:00.78\00:38:02.20 So it's the same, same principle 00:38:02.23\00:38:04.81 as what we are trying to fill with what? 00:38:04.84\00:38:08.10 Now talk to me a little bit about David, 00:38:08.13\00:38:10.21 what happened with the Texico Conference 00:38:10.24\00:38:11.56 because you are leading it, I thought you are 00:38:11.59\00:38:13.67 but God opened the door there, didn't He? 00:38:13.70\00:38:15.41 Yeah, God opened the door there. 00:38:15.44\00:38:16.56 The conference chose to open them-- 00:38:16.59\00:38:19.18 start a prison ministry department 00:38:19.21\00:38:22.14 and Pastor Leroy Green is the director of it 00:38:22.17\00:38:26.88 and he has a prior experience with prison. 00:38:26.91\00:38:29.27 He served eight or nine years. 00:38:29.30\00:38:31.70 Had a life sentence at one point. 00:38:31.73\00:38:33.40 He was blessed to be able to come up out of that. 00:38:33.43\00:38:35.73 Yeah. 00:38:35.76\00:38:36.79 And so he is the director, I'm associate director 00:38:36.82\00:38:39.87 and we just want to equip the churches 00:38:39.90\00:38:41.87 within the Texico Conference. 00:38:41.90\00:38:43.23 If they want to be involved in prison ministry 00:38:43.26\00:38:46.19 the dos and don'ts and the motivation to do it. 00:38:46.22\00:38:49.78 To do it, yeah, yeah. 00:38:49.81\00:38:50.85 There is some-- there are some things 00:38:50.88\00:38:52.88 that people can get caught up in 00:38:52.91\00:38:54.75 that you don't want to do in prison ministry 00:38:54.78\00:38:57.55 and so we are trying to safeguard him from that too. 00:38:57.58\00:39:00.22 So you do a fair bit of traveling, 00:39:00.25\00:39:02.27 you're still an evangelist? 00:39:02.30\00:39:03.34 Yes. 00:39:03.37\00:39:04.41 This time you are romancing for Jesus. 00:39:04.44\00:39:05.66 Yes. 00:39:05.69\00:39:06.72 And I would love to go back to those places 00:39:06.75\00:39:08.24 where I was around the world and do that. 00:39:08.27\00:39:12.01 And also I was married, I got married, 00:39:12.04\00:39:14.30 I don't know if we showed that picture? 00:39:14.33\00:39:15.36 No, we didn't. 00:39:15.39\00:39:16.42 We need to, we need to get to that picture. 00:39:16.45\00:39:18.60 Yeah, this is my wife and I 00:39:18.63\00:39:20.06 at the Midland Juvenile Detention Center 00:39:20.09\00:39:22.30 in Midland County 00:39:22.33\00:39:23.37 that we go in there weekly and talk to juveniles. 00:39:23.40\00:39:26.30 And my wife-- I met my wife through being here at 3ABN. 00:39:26.33\00:39:30.67 She is from Spearfish, South Dakota 00:39:30.70\00:39:33.19 and we met and started conversing. 00:39:33.22\00:39:34.97 This is her here, that was the day we were married 00:39:35.00\00:39:37.42 and we met and started talking back and forth 00:39:37.45\00:39:41.85 through the internet, then on the phone 00:39:41.88\00:39:44.28 and we started visiting each other 00:39:44.31\00:39:46.35 and we've been married on April 27th 00:39:46.38\00:39:48.59 that will be two years. 00:39:48.62\00:39:50.26 So I was-- my wife could have came with me right now 00:39:50.29\00:39:53.10 but she's got some-- we are trying to help 00:39:53.13\00:39:56.38 this young boy out in Houston 00:39:56.41\00:39:58.51 and she is over there taking care of him. 00:39:58.54\00:39:59.97 So she saw you when you were last here? 00:40:00.00\00:40:01.47 Yep. 00:40:01.50\00:40:02.53 Saw me on 3ABN and that's how we met. 00:40:02.56\00:40:04.40 Yeah. Praise God. 00:40:42.96\00:40:44.02 We married. 00:40:44.05\00:40:45.08 So there is a lot of interest out there 00:40:45.11\00:40:48.00 to do work in prisons, is that what you are finding? 00:40:48.03\00:40:50.02 Yes, it's a big mission field. 00:40:50.05\00:40:51.08 Yeah. Oh, yeah. 00:40:51.11\00:40:52.14 And another thing I talk about this a lot. 00:40:52.17\00:40:55.77 600,000 people are released out of United States prisons 00:40:55.80\00:41:00.56 each year back into the society. 00:41:00.59\00:41:02.24 Now give me the number again? Six hundred thousand. 00:41:02.27\00:41:04.89 Wow. Get out a year. 00:41:04.92\00:41:06.94 Now they are being replaced 00:41:06.97\00:41:08.62 with still over two million locked up 00:41:08.65\00:41:10.44 and there's just people taking those beds. 00:41:10.47\00:41:12.45 Yes, so the door is swinging. I mean, out and in. 00:41:12.48\00:41:14.54 Right. People are getting out. 00:41:14.57\00:41:15.68 Someone that got locked up 10 years ago 00:41:15.71\00:41:17.33 is getting out tomorrow. 00:41:17.36\00:41:18.44 Right. 00:41:18.47\00:41:19.66 So there is 600,000 people getting out. 00:41:19.69\00:41:23.04 It's a big mission field. 00:41:23.07\00:41:24.62 Crime affects everybody in the community 00:41:24.65\00:41:27.18 of 310 million people in this country are affected by crime. 00:41:27.21\00:41:31.96 Even if it's just something 00:41:31.99\00:41:33.48 as simple as you walking down the street, 00:41:33.51\00:41:35.70 you see a stranger lurking over, 00:41:35.73\00:41:37.43 you may not even be victimized 00:41:37.46\00:41:39.95 but you are victim because you start becoming nervous 00:41:39.98\00:41:42.62 or conscious and worried about this person 00:41:42.65\00:41:45.99 lurking in the shadows. 00:41:46.02\00:41:47.52 So it's a big problem. Yeah. 00:41:47.55\00:41:49.98 My goal is to put these prison guards out of work. 00:41:50.01\00:41:52.39 Amen. 00:41:52.42\00:41:53.60 I would love to see it happen and I know, 00:41:53.63\00:41:56.06 I know personally through myself, 00:41:56.09\00:41:57.94 through the power of prayer and studying God's word, 00:41:57.97\00:42:02.46 people's lives can be changed. 00:42:02.49\00:42:04.12 And I know there's people out there struggling right now 00:42:04.15\00:42:07.14 with the same lifestyle. 00:42:07.17\00:42:08.44 They are struggling with drugs. 00:42:08.47\00:42:09.55 They are struggling with these things, 00:42:09.58\00:42:10.98 these very same things that I struggled with. 00:42:11.01\00:42:14.43 They can be set free through studying the Bible and prayer. 00:42:14.46\00:42:20.59 If we don't study the Bible, 00:42:20.62\00:42:22.09 if you-- we are not gonna be able to take it. 00:42:22.12\00:42:23.89 If you are not gonna be able to know 00:42:23.92\00:42:25.54 what the Holy Spirit is saying 00:42:25.57\00:42:28.95 through the word, 00:42:28.98\00:42:30.65 you are not gonna have an applicable in your life, 00:42:30.68\00:42:32.73 you are not gonna be able to apply it. 00:42:32.76\00:42:33.99 Right. 00:42:34.02\00:42:35.09 You don't even know what to ask for 00:42:35.12\00:42:36.80 or what's available to you because you haven't studied. 00:42:36.83\00:42:39.11 Let me give you a quick scenario of this. 00:42:39.14\00:42:41.35 This is about six or eight months go. 00:42:41.38\00:42:44.09 I'm in a store, I'm in Wal-Mart in where I live 00:42:44.12\00:42:48.53 and there is a bank in there and I'm cashing a check. 00:42:48.56\00:42:51.59 And I looked through the side 00:42:51.62\00:42:52.98 and I'm the next person in line for the teller 00:42:53.01\00:42:55.73 and I look and I see the girl counting 00:42:55.76\00:42:57.35 a bunch of money out to this guy 00:42:57.38\00:42:58.97 and I looked little close and its $100 bills. 00:42:59.00\00:43:03.89 So the first thing that pops in my mind is 00:43:03.92\00:43:06.57 I started counting too by the way 00:43:06.60\00:43:08.31 as I see her counting so many. 00:43:08.34\00:43:09.87 I counted 2,300. 00:43:09.90\00:43:12.60 The first thing that pops in my mind, 00:43:12.63\00:43:14.24 man, I could use it 2,300 right about now. 00:43:14.27\00:43:17.02 Yeah. 00:43:17.05\00:43:18.32 Immediately this was what come in my mind. 00:43:18.35\00:43:20.45 I'm still, you know, I still got my old nature 00:43:20.48\00:43:23.45 and I see it and I think man, I would like to had that money. 00:43:23.48\00:43:26.02 How could I get that money? 00:43:26.05\00:43:27.78 Immediately 2 Corinthians 10:5 comes into my mind, 00:43:27.81\00:43:33.89 "Take every captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ." 00:43:33.92\00:43:37.84 Yes. Yes. 00:43:37.87\00:43:38.97 If I did not know that scripture, 00:43:39.00\00:43:42.14 I may have acted out on that thought. 00:43:42.17\00:43:44.32 Yeah. Yeah. You understand it. 00:43:44.35\00:43:46.25 You might not get out of the parking lot 00:43:46.28\00:43:47.38 with that money. 00:43:47.41\00:43:48.55 I could have used it 2,300. 00:43:48.58\00:43:51.12 But through the process of the Holy Spirit 00:43:51.15\00:43:53.70 that scripture come to my mind, 00:43:53.73\00:43:55.59 I immediately took the thought, captive prayed 00:43:55.62\00:43:58.31 and asked God for that man 00:43:58.34\00:43:59.38 to get home safely with that money. 00:43:59.41\00:44:00.65 Yes. Yeah. 00:44:00.68\00:44:01.79 So this is the thing and I stress, 00:44:01.82\00:44:04.08 if we don't know the scriptures how are you gonna apply it? 00:44:04.11\00:44:08.37 Right. 00:44:08.40\00:44:09.48 The Holy Spirit is there and available for us 00:44:09.51\00:44:11.94 to have that power 00:44:11.97\00:44:13.92 but if I can't, I can't access it, 00:44:13.95\00:44:17.33 how you are gonna use it? 00:44:17.36\00:44:18.44 Yeah. Yeah. 00:44:18.47\00:44:19.56 So the Bible study it showed as self approved, 00:44:19.59\00:44:21.14 it's also given you a weapon to fight against those times 00:44:21.17\00:44:24.46 when your flesh is weak because you got a history. 00:44:24.49\00:44:27.55 Ten years ago you might have said, 00:44:27.58\00:44:28.71 you know, I'm taking it. 00:44:28.74\00:44:29.83 End of the story. 00:44:29.86\00:44:30.99 Oh, there was a time in my life, there is no way 00:44:31.02\00:44:32.70 that dude would have got out of that parking lot 00:44:32.73\00:44:34.58 with that money. 00:44:34.61\00:44:35.72 I mean, I just, you know, wouldn't even been about, 00:44:35.75\00:44:38.51 you know, sir, can I have that money? 00:44:38.54\00:44:39.87 I would have cracked his head 00:44:39.90\00:44:40.93 and took it right off his pocket, 00:44:40.96\00:44:42.37 waved at the camera, went out about my business. 00:44:42.40\00:44:44.37 Wow. Wow. 00:44:44.40\00:44:45.51 You know, so there was a time when that no way 00:44:45.54\00:44:47.74 would he ever got by with that, 00:44:47.77\00:44:49.23 but that's through the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:44:49.26\00:44:51.25 Jesus tell us, He is gonna send the comforter. 00:44:51.28\00:44:54.64 We will be able to call His words to remembrance. 00:44:54.67\00:44:56.72 Yes. Yes. Yes. 00:44:56.75\00:44:57.88 That means I have to have heard it at one point 00:44:57.91\00:45:00.67 or read it to be able to memorize. 00:45:00.70\00:45:02.92 You can't recall what's in-- we didn't get it now what kind? 00:45:02.95\00:45:05.29 So I have seen so many people in prisons 00:45:05.32\00:45:07.64 with this mindset well, 00:45:07.67\00:45:09.33 you know, pray and ask the-- be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:45:09.36\00:45:13.03 God can work however He wants to work it, 00:45:13.06\00:45:16.20 but with me I have to feed on the word. 00:45:16.23\00:45:20.00 I had to study the word so-- 00:45:20.03\00:45:22.59 I wish God would just zap it in me. 00:45:22.62\00:45:25.13 That would be so sweet but this is not how it works. 00:45:25.16\00:45:28.88 So... I want to do this before our time gets over 00:45:28.91\00:45:31.45 because God gave you another little avenue 00:45:31.48\00:45:34.11 that we are gonna talk about. 00:45:34.14\00:45:35.22 In rearview we are gonna about it in a second, 00:45:35.25\00:45:36.75 but I want to go to David contact information. 00:45:36.78\00:45:40.44 Obviously he is a powerful evangelist 00:45:40.47\00:45:43.59 for this ministry that God has given him. 00:45:43.62\00:45:47.42 You may want to start a prison ministry 00:45:47.45\00:45:49.41 in your church. 00:45:49.44\00:45:50.49 You may need to have someone come in 00:45:50.52\00:45:52.27 to speak to young people who can talk their language 00:45:52.30\00:45:54.73 and has the pedigree to deal with the kinds of things 00:45:54.76\00:45:58.07 that they may throw at you 00:45:58.10\00:45:59.13 if you've not had his experience and certainly 00:45:59.16\00:46:02.02 has the presentation to arrest them-- 00:46:02.05\00:46:05.58 I used that word wisely but to arrest them 00:46:05.61\00:46:07.89 in their course and to really get them to listen. 00:46:07.92\00:46:10.58 Here is the contact you need, contact information 00:46:10.61\00:46:12.92 that you will need for Onesimus Ministry 00:46:12.95\00:46:15.12 and to do and contact David. 00:46:15.15\00:46:17.88 Onesimus Freedom Ministry is here to help you 00:46:22.99\00:46:25.47 find freedom and peace through Jesus Christ. 00:46:25.50\00:46:28.27 If you would like to know more about this ministry, 00:46:28.30\00:46:30.64 then you can write to Onesimus Freedom Ministry, 00:46:30.67\00:46:34.21 P O Box 3103, Midland, Texas, 79702. 00:46:34.24\00:46:39.75 That's Onesimus Freedom Ministry, 00:46:39.78\00:46:42.44 P O Box 3103, Midland, Texas, 79702. 00:46:42.47\00:46:48.41 Or you can visit them online at onesimusfreedomministry.org. 00:46:48.44\00:46:53.42 Thats onesimusfreedomministry.org. 00:46:53.45\00:47:00.44 So that's the information that you need for David Casey 00:47:09.91\00:47:12.84 and I'm sure it will be a-- 00:47:12.87\00:47:14.90 you know, give him a weekend, 00:47:14.93\00:47:15.96 give him a Friday or Saturday or Sunday 00:47:15.99\00:47:17.85 and he can make some dramatic changes. 00:47:17.88\00:47:20.07 Got to ask you man, your wife shares your ministry? 00:47:20.10\00:47:22.59 Yes. 00:47:22.62\00:47:23.72 She is part of it? Yeah. 00:47:53.88\00:47:54.91 But obviously God is working, God is leading. 00:47:54.94\00:47:57.52 And He's got something for you to do. 00:47:57.55\00:47:59.63 We were talking about this 00:47:59.66\00:48:00.78 because even though you've taken AFCOE 00:48:00.81\00:48:02.09 and sometimes AFCOE guys end up in pastoral ministry, 00:48:02.12\00:48:05.03 don't see that for you. 00:48:05.06\00:48:06.46 You know, I think God has got 00:48:06.49\00:48:07.64 a different kind of ministry for you 00:48:07.67\00:48:09.04 because He has given you a different experience. 00:48:09.07\00:48:11.09 And talking about experiences, 00:48:11.12\00:48:14.13 walk us through this new radio event man, 00:48:14.16\00:48:16.06 because this is exciting stuff. 00:48:16.09\00:48:18.51 With my ministry, Onesimus Freedom Ministry, 00:48:18.54\00:48:20.97 I chose to go down to a radio station locally 00:48:21.00\00:48:24.40 and buy some airtime and I would do a topical sermon 00:48:24.43\00:48:28.74 each week and deal with issues for 30 minutes 00:48:28.77\00:48:32.54 and I went through a year of that 00:48:32.57\00:48:35.82 and owner of the station after about few months of doing 00:48:35.85\00:48:38.57 just asked me if would like to fill in 00:48:38.60\00:48:40.42 sometimes as a fill in host? 00:48:40.45\00:48:42.90 And I'm like, what? 00:48:42.93\00:48:45.18 Do his morning show, four hour show. 00:48:45.21\00:48:47.90 See now morning, you know radio. 00:48:47.93\00:48:50.73 You got morning drive, you got evening drive, 00:48:50.76\00:48:53.71 that's triple A stuff and I have done little radio. 00:48:53.74\00:48:56.50 That you put your best voice on in that slot 00:48:56.53\00:48:59.83 because that's when your viewership-- 00:48:59.86\00:49:01.57 your listenership is very, very high. 00:49:01.60\00:49:03.93 And I guess it just kind of came natural to me. 00:49:03.96\00:49:07.01 I honestly believe the Lord is using me, 00:49:07.04\00:49:09.78 training me through this radio station, 00:49:09.81\00:49:12.19 I would love to be in ministry radio, 00:49:12.22\00:49:16.19 you know, Adventist radio. 00:49:16.22\00:49:19.80 There's all different type of formats 00:49:19.83\00:49:21.78 but God is using this as a training process 00:49:21.81\00:49:24.11 and through that process of being a fill in host, 00:49:24.14\00:49:27.91 I developed into my own show 00:49:27.94\00:49:29.95 which I have Monday through Friday 00:49:29.98\00:49:32.62 5 pm to 7 pm Central Time and I'm on that radio station 00:49:32.65\00:49:37.38 KWEL 1070 AM and 107.1 FM in Midland, Texas. 00:49:37.41\00:49:41.52 Wow. 00:49:41.55\00:49:42.58 I'm shocked but this is God again. 00:49:42.61\00:49:44.65 Yeah. 00:49:44.68\00:49:45.82 And because I'm free to speak about my faith on my show, 00:49:45.85\00:49:49.69 I cover cultural, political, news 00:49:49.72\00:49:52.93 stories whichever is going on 00:49:52.96\00:49:54.96 and I try to tie it back into my faith. 00:49:54.99\00:49:58.38 Every day on my program I try to uplift Jesus Christ. 00:49:58.41\00:50:02.19 And I've had some of the audience notice that 00:50:02.22\00:50:04.57 and have made comments. 00:50:04.60\00:50:06.19 So it's a opportunity, 00:50:06.22\00:50:07.41 it's a very rare opportunity for me 00:50:07.44\00:50:09.55 on a secular radio station 00:50:09.58\00:50:12.89 which most of the audience is probably people 00:50:12.92\00:50:15.24 that attend church on the first day of the week 00:50:15.27\00:50:18.60 that I have been able to implement 00:50:18.63\00:50:20.82 and make some statements that you know, 00:50:20.85\00:50:24.01 to get people to think about 00:50:24.04\00:50:27.42 actually what the Bible really teach it. 00:50:27.45\00:50:28.87 Now, let's put some texture to this 00:50:28.90\00:50:30.99 because Midland where you are, 00:50:31.02\00:50:33.80 where is about how big population wise? 00:50:33.83\00:50:36.66 Midland-Odessa right now combined is like a metro area. 00:50:36.69\00:50:42.08 I would say easily almost 300,000 people 00:50:42.11\00:50:45.78 between the two cities. 00:50:45.81\00:50:47.32 Okay, so you are talking about a town the size of a Buffalo, 00:50:47.35\00:50:50.45 New York or Rochester in that 250, 350, 00:50:50.48\00:50:54.51 you know, decent size town. 00:50:54.54\00:50:56.82 So God puts you on a market that's got some crowd, 00:50:56.85\00:51:00.80 it's a decent crowd. 00:51:00.83\00:51:01.86 Yes, it's a major talk station major AM and FM talk station. 00:51:01.89\00:51:06.76 And he gives you AM and FM and he gives you evening drive. 00:51:06.79\00:51:11.69 Yep, I guess. 00:51:11.72\00:51:12.77 That's when people in their cars 00:51:12.80\00:51:14.11 that's when the listenership for that radio station 00:51:14.14\00:51:17.18 is the highest. 00:51:17.21\00:51:18.45 So God didn't give you 2 am in the morning, 00:51:18.48\00:51:20.79 He gave you evening drive. Right. 00:51:20.82\00:51:22.40 So that's a very, very visible-- 00:51:22.43\00:51:24.65 I use that term time a day. 00:51:24.68\00:51:27.13 Who is your leader? Who is on before you? 00:51:27.16\00:51:29.25 Sean Hannity. Sean Hannity, okay. 00:51:29.28\00:51:30.61 Number two radio show in the nation. 00:51:30.64\00:51:32.81 Yeah. Yes.
