ministry and so forth

well, maybe they're going

to take blood
pressure on the street

or they're gonna do
something like that.

Never was I so shocked

as when I drove up to
the San Francisco Armory

and I saw a line going
all the way down the block

of people waiting to
have medical services.

When I went inside I found that

they weren't
doing blood pressure,

they were doing teeth cleaning,

they were doing
filling cavities to teeth.

I think there might have
been a root canal or so done,

in fact I know there were.

And there was
actually major surgery done

in at least on case.

But you won't call that major,

for doctor it's not
major, for me it was major.

And I think it
was a big sister cyst

or something that
had to be removed.

I can't remember
exactly what it was,

but then all of
the different things

that were being done there,

and I began to study the people.

I was really amazed

because we're not
talking about homeless people,

occasional homeless person.

There were an occasional person

who I would say were poor people

but were not homeless.

But then the great
majority were people

who had jobs but
had no insurance,

they had no coverage,

dental and for eye glasses.

Those two particularly were
not covered even in the policy

that they had for the
folks there in California.

So these people were
there because it took every dime

they could make just
to keep food on the table,

to keep paying the rent,

to keep doing
what they had to do

and they just
continue to neglect themselves

as far as their
health was concerned.

Now there are many, many
people that are homeless.

We were just talking about

the homeless
people in New York City,

450,000 homeless
people in New York City.

That's a large
city in it of itself.

Now those are not the
people that come for help

because bless their hearths,
they have given up on life.

They have given up on
taking care of their teeth.

They have given up on seeing
anything through eye glasses.

Their world looks bad
enough to them as it is,

and they are not trying to
take care of themselves at all.

So they are not the
ones that seek this help

but it's those who
fall through the cracks.

these medical things done.

Now there are many
categories in this way

but these are mainly the people

that I talked to
fell in the category

that I am talking about.

They had no
coverage and just absolutely

did not have the money

that it would take to take
care of some of these things.

Now while we were there
