in a Christian home?

up in a Christian home.

nondenominational church

but we really didn't start going

till I was about
10 or 11 years old.

was your experience like?

whenever I was going to church,

on the football team with me.

So when I was younger,

I was really
into the church thing

until I got to the later teens

drifted away from the Lord.

So how did God get
your attention again?

Well, I was pretty stubborn,

a lot of things
happened in my life

where the Lord kind of
pulled back his protection

and things would happen

and then I
would come back to Him

and eventually I
struggled with drugs and alcohol

and, you know, eventually
I just got to the point

where I was tired of it all

and I just wanted to
have victory over that

and to have a new
and different life.

And so I prayed to
God to teach me the truth,

the whole truth and

and when He did that,

He did that by using Three

Well, a friend called me
up on my birthday in 2007

and said I found the truth,
now this is a couple of weeks

after I prayed that
prayer and he was telling me

about all these
programs he was watching on 3ABN

so I went to his
house and I watched it

they were teaching me

biblical truths with the Bible

and I said this is
the answer to my prayer.

I said what church is this?

And he said, it's the
Seventh-day Adventist church.

And I've never heard of
Seventh-day Adventist before

so we-- next we went that
weekend to the closest church

we could find
there in Nashville first.
00:10:56.34\00:10:58.74
And they had--
they took us back.

This is really
important for churches to do,

when you see new people
come in, get to know them,

they took us back
and prayed with us

and that made it
really personable and...

So we went back there

and they had these
stacks of books in there

and as I was watching
3ABN days prior to this,

they were talking about
the Ten Commandments project

and so I told them we
really wanted that book

and they said, well, you
see all these cases right here,

those are all Ten

And I said, you
know, this weekend

there is a
Christian event downtown

where they're gonna have

on Riverfront in
Nashville, Tennessee,

and so I said, if you'll
give us a couple of boxes,

go down to Riverfront,

pass these books out.

And so they did,
they gave us two boxes

and I went out and
talked to Mike Hyde

on the way out that Sabbath

and we talked for probably
an hour standing by his truck

and he said, look,
if you run out of books,

just give me a call,
then I'll bring you some more.

So we went down there
the next day to Riverfront

thousands of Christians there

and the streets were full

and we were
passing these books out

and before an hour passed,
we had 200 books passed out.

And so I called Mike up
and I said, look, remember

we met you in church
this weekend, you said

if we ran out of
books, you'd bring us more.

I said we're out of books

and we've only been
doing this for an hour

so he brought 800 more
books and he even gave me

a Ten Commandments
t-shirt and then we passed out

1,000 books that day, that night

and it ended up
being a major blessing.

Now at that time I'd only
read a few chapters in the book

but I felt
impressed by the Holy Spirit,

this is what
God wanted me to do.

they had another
event called The Call

where they were
expecting 60,000 Christians

to show up at this event

and so we had 10,000
Ten Commandment books,

we had a total of
44,000 books altogether.

And so that day we
passed out 38,000 books

me ask you a question

Lord first impressed you

of course you'd been
watching the television

so you were pretty
convinced of the truth,

so you trusted, you'd
only read four chapters,

did you go back then and
really study in this book

and make sure
what you're passing out

you felt comfortable with?

Yes, a good
question because, you know,

soon after you
start following the Lord,

you're gonna get ridiculed,

you're gonna get
persecuted in some ways

and so my
family kind of started,

you know, what are you doing,

you're going to this
Saturday church, you know?

And I found out
there's a little history

of Seventh-day
Adventism in my family.

Really?

And so it all started
making sense years later

when I found that out.

But I just started questioning,
you know, like Satan was

of course giving
me all these ideas,

maybe this isn't it, you know?

So I started
reading a lot heavier

in the Ten
Commandments Twice Removed

and I had the Bible
next to me and I would read

and I would go to
my Bible and I'd read

and then go to my Bible
and I almost wanted to find

something wrong with it,

you know, just so I
could stop that persecution,

you know, but then I found that

it lined up with
up the scriptures.

And there was no way

that I could find
anything wrong with it.

So, you know, I decided
instead of to allow the ridicule

and persecution to pull me away,

I decided to say, you know what,

on the word of God.

He's two years old.

he's two and his name Isaac

and we just have fun
watching him in church,

he's so precious.

But you then, this

business of your own,

was laying the groundwork

Well, you know, it's interesting

that before I
came into the church,

I was struggling with like
depression and things like this

and I really haven't
struggled with that since.

And there's a couple of
things that I did different.

I started following
God's commandments, number one.

started sharing my faith.

And the way that I
shared was through literature

and because all those things

that you want to be
able to say to your friends

and even people you don't know
to explain what you believe,

out there at that time

but it was about maybe a year
