Okay. 00:08:17.68\00:08:19.23 So I turn away from it, 00:08:19.26\00:08:25.02 I had no interest in what that had to offer. 00:08:25.05\00:08:28.08 But I was invited to a baptismal service 00:08:28.11\00:08:30.13 where my oldest brother was going to be baptized, 00:08:30.16\00:08:32.45 Pastor Eugene Torres from Florida. 00:08:32.48\00:08:35.63 And by God's grace, in that experience 00:08:35.66\00:08:38.45 I had a conversion experience. 00:08:38.48\00:08:41.64 And rather than going on tour it's how they take a detour. 00:08:41.67\00:08:45.99 Okay. I like that. 00:08:46.02\00:08:48.56 That detour led me to following Christ 00:08:48.59\00:08:51.84 and then I spent two years in military 00:08:51.87\00:08:55.32 and that's military I came out during the Vietnam war, 00:08:55.35\00:08:59.05 I served as a medic. 00:08:59.08\00:09:01.51 But I came back and decide 00:09:01.54\00:09:03.99 that I wanted to be in ministry. 00:09:04.02\00:09:06.13 Went off one year to college, 00:09:06.16\00:09:08.17 after that one year I felt that was too slow. 00:09:08.20\00:09:11.74 So I jumped out of college, 00:09:11.77\00:09:13.26 they told me if I did not finish, 00:09:13.29\00:09:15.47 I'll never get into ministry. A year later I was a minister. 00:09:15.50\00:09:20.99 There you go. 00:09:21.02\00:09:22.06 For the Chesapeake Conference Seventh-day Adventist 00:09:22.09\00:09:24.23 which covers Maryland and Delaware. 00:09:24.26\00:09:25.53 That's right. 00:09:25.56\00:09:26.59 So then I began doing ministry and been minister every since. 00:09:26.62\00:09:30.62 I've been a pastor and evangelist, 00:09:30.65\00:09:32.78 presently I served as president 00:09:32.81\00:09:34.67 of what is called Guam Micronesia Mission 00:09:34.70\00:09:38.52 which is out there in the Pacific Ocean. 00:09:38.55\00:09:40.60 Beautiful place. 00:09:40.63\00:09:41.66 Yeah, it is. 00:09:41.69\00:09:42.72 You have to invite me there, 00:09:42.75\00:09:43.80 I've always heard about Guam, never been to Guam. 00:09:43.83\00:09:46.26 Not putting the pressure on you, 00:09:46.29\00:09:47.36 but it will be a wonderful place 00:09:47.39\00:09:48.42 because so much of the work that God is doing 00:09:48.45\00:09:51.02 for the church is happening out 00:09:51.05\00:09:52.79 in that small island called Guam. 00:09:52.82\00:09:55.95 Is that also where they have all those radio antennas? 00:09:55.98\00:09:59.00 That's correct. Okay. 00:09:59.03\00:10:00.44 Adventist World Radio. Adventist World Radio. 00:10:00.47\00:10:02.26 Yeah, Adventist World Radio has a ministry there 00:10:02.29\00:10:05.84 that sends the message to all of China, Russia, 00:10:05.87\00:10:11.86 Malaysia, Vietnam and all that area is covered 00:10:11.89\00:10:15.63 with this short wave radio. 00:10:15.66\00:10:18.23 And what's beautiful is that 00:10:18.26\00:10:19.62 in all those third world countries 00:10:19.65\00:10:21.38 most of the people that's what they have is short wave radios. 00:10:21.41\00:10:23.41 Wow. 00:10:23.44\00:10:24.47 And so we're hearing marvelous stories of people 00:10:24.50\00:10:27.97 who are listening and accept the truth of Christ, 00:10:28.00\00:10:32.67 become converted. 00:10:32.70\00:10:34.39 They are asking somebody to go with them, 00:10:34.42\00:10:35.70 baptize them. 00:10:35.73\00:10:37.18 It's just a marvelous ministry. 00:10:37.21\00:10:39.02 And you know, when you talk about the many years 00:10:39.05\00:10:40.70 that God has called you, I like what you said earlier, 00:10:40.73\00:10:42.72 when you left college you were told 00:10:42.75\00:10:44.07 that you would never be able to get into ministry 00:10:44.10\00:10:46.12 but we know, I know personally 00:10:46.15\00:10:48.08 that God always has the final say in where we end up. 00:10:48.11\00:10:50.00 Exactly. 00:10:50.03\00:10:51.10 And we have so we have pastors in our denominations 00:10:51.13\00:10:53.98 that the Lord has used 00:10:54.01\00:10:55.63 the Holy Spirit to prepare them, 00:10:55.66\00:10:57.37 not necessarily literarily training 00:10:57.40\00:10:59.02 Exactly. 00:10:59.05\00:11:00.08 But when you get the Holy Spirit 00:11:00.11\00:11:01.41 as the Bible says in the Book of Acts, 00:11:01.44\00:11:03.25 it's obvious that these men often label by the world 00:11:03.28\00:11:06.11 as uneducated have been with Jesus. 00:11:06.14\00:11:08.54 So which one would you prefer? 00:11:08.57\00:11:10.33 Well, obviously-- 00:11:10.36\00:11:11.76 you know what's funny about it is that 00:11:11.79\00:11:14.85 when I was growing up in Brooklyn, 00:11:14.88\00:11:16.79 I going to school, they gave me an IQ test. 00:11:16.82\00:11:20.28 Okay. 00:11:20.31\00:11:21.34 And the results was, I was in number seven. 00:11:21.37\00:11:24.69 So I came out, so I dropped out of school 00:11:24.72\00:11:28.90 and went into show business, et cetera. 00:11:28.93\00:11:32.68 But then when I went to the army 00:11:32.71\00:11:35.94 I began to try to figure out how the read the Bible. 00:11:35.97\00:11:38.64 Okay. 00:11:38.67\00:11:39.75 My reading level was about a kindergarten see spot run 00:11:39.78\00:11:44.95 and I didn't paid attention to reading 00:11:44.98\00:11:47.10 because I did everything of music with ear. 00:11:47.13\00:11:49.56 Okay. 00:11:49.59\00:11:50.62 So I taught myself and learned to play, 00:11:50.65\00:11:53.87 et cetera by ear. 00:11:53.90\00:11:55.28 So consequently I was very, very slow 00:11:55.31\00:11:58.27 when it came to reading. 00:11:58.30\00:12:00.47 And when I became converted I want to get baptized, 00:12:00.50\00:12:04.03 I went to the pastor and I said, 00:12:04.06\00:12:05.27 I need to get baptized. 00:12:05.30\00:12:06.37 He said, well, first you got to take Bible studies. 00:12:06.40\00:12:07.84 I said, what's that? 00:12:07.87\00:12:08.90 So he handed me stack of studies like this 00:12:08.93\00:12:12.31 and when I looked at the first lesson 00:12:12.34\00:12:13.63 I couldn't even read the name of the king of Babylon. 00:12:13.66\00:12:15.89 Wow. 00:12:15.92\00:12:16.95 Nebuchadnezzar. 00:12:16.98\00:12:19.39 To me those were $50 words, you know. 00:12:19.42\00:12:21.87 And so I thought, man, I'll never get baptized. 00:12:21.90\00:12:25.36 This is what it's gonna take, yeah. 00:12:25.39\00:12:26.42 So I said to the pastor, look-- 00:12:26.45\00:12:27.99 I was too embraced to tell him like 00:12:28.02\00:12:29.43 I was basically illiterate. 00:12:29.46\00:12:30.83 So I said, Pastor, listen, I want to serve the Lord 00:12:30.86\00:12:34.40 with all my heart and I said, I've given up everything. 00:12:34.43\00:12:39.05 I mean, I didn't go on a trip-- on the world tour. 00:12:39.08\00:12:42.35 I called up the Comets and told them I wasn't going. 00:12:42.38\00:12:45.91 And so I gave up my amplifier, my guitar and everything 00:12:45.94\00:12:50.23 and I was finished with that life. 00:12:50.26\00:12:52.60 Sold out to Jesus. 00:12:52.63\00:12:53.78 Completely. 00:12:53.81\00:12:55.11 And so I said, I promise you Pastor, 00:12:55.14\00:12:57.42 I'll study for the rest of my life. 00:12:57.45\00:12:59.60 So he baptized me, praise the Lord. 00:12:59.63\00:13:02.92 And then when I got drafted 00:13:02.95\00:13:06.32 I actually spent most of my time 00:13:06.35\00:13:08.58 studying the word, trying to figure out. 00:13:08.61\00:13:10.76 I took a dictionary, 00:13:10.79\00:13:12.08 I took seven books of Bible commentary 00:13:12.11\00:13:15.38 with me in my duffle bag. 00:13:15.41\00:13:17.60 It was big at that time. 00:13:17.63\00:13:18.83 They are big. 00:13:18.86\00:13:20.59 So I carried them and a dictionary 00:13:20.62\00:13:23.34 so I could figure out what the word meant 00:13:23.37\00:13:24.72 and et cetera. 00:13:24.75\00:13:26.11 And so by the time 00:13:26.14\00:13:27.60 I was finished by the end of the year. 00:13:27.63\00:13:29.96 I was quite conversion concerning the scriptures. 00:13:29.99\00:13:32.32 Praise the Lord. 00:13:32.35\00:13:33.38 I was witnessing to the soldiers, 00:13:33.41\00:13:34.63 sharing with the soldiers. 00:13:34.66\00:13:36.07 And so they couldn't figure me out 00:13:36.10\00:13:39.31 because I was placed in the headquarters' company 00:13:39.34\00:13:42.36 and most of the guys in my barrack 00:13:42.39\00:13:45.36 had Master's degrees. 00:13:45.39\00:13:47.24 And I had a Master dropout. 00:13:47.27\00:13:48.76 So anyway, they couldn't figure me out, 00:13:48.79\00:13:52.58 they couldn't figure how was it, 00:13:52.61\00:13:53.82 that I could give them answers 00:13:53.85\00:13:55.03 when I was basically illiterate. 00:13:55.06\00:13:56.37 Wow. 00:13:56.40\00:13:57.47 But it was the spirit of the Lord, 00:13:57.50\00:13:58.71 leading me, teaching me. 00:13:58.74\00:13:59.90 So by the time I came out 00:13:59.93\00:14:02.06 I was already in comparison to people 00:14:02.09\00:14:05.37 who come out of college. 00:14:05.40\00:14:07.00 This is not a boast because all glory to God, 00:14:07.03\00:14:09.87 but I knew more of the scriptures 00:14:09.90\00:14:11.64 than most of he guys 00:14:11.67\00:14:12.70 who went to theological training. 00:14:12.73\00:14:14.78 Praise the Lord. 00:14:14.81\00:14:15.84 Yeah. 00:14:15.87\00:14:18.26 There's no question the spirit of God can't teach you. 00:14:18.29\00:14:20.45 Now it doesn't mean I don't believe in education. 00:14:20.48\00:14:22.20 Oh, I understand. 00:14:22.23\00:14:23.27 You know, today I have a doctor's degree for example. 00:14:23.30\00:14:26.01 But the doctor's degree came as an afterthought. 00:14:26.04\00:14:28.36 Right, not a before thought. 00:14:28.39\00:14:29.57 That's right. 00:14:29.60\00:14:30.63 But you know the wonderful thing about God's word 00:14:30.66\00:14:32.06 and the text that's going through 00:14:32.09\00:14:33.46 my mind as a pastor to--" 00:14:33.49\00:14:35.53 the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise--" 00:14:35.56\00:14:38.69 The simple. The simple. 00:14:38.72\00:14:39.86 "The entrance of your word giveth light." 00:14:39.89\00:14:43.04 And so whenever you expose yourself to God's word, 00:14:43.07\00:14:45.39 you can't come out of that in the dark. 00:14:45.42\00:14:47.10 Amen. 00:14:47.13\00:14:48.16 There's no downward spiral to the Word of God, 00:14:48.19\00:14:51.14 you know as you study the Word of God. 00:14:51.17\00:14:53.04 When the word of the Lord came to Jonah, 00:14:53.07\00:14:55.31 the word was arise not sit down. 00:14:55.34\00:14:57.43 God always brings you up whenever the word comes to you. 00:14:57.46\00:15:00.99 But I am just excited to see what God has done in your life 00:15:01.02\00:15:03.34 and I've followed you long before I was a pastor. 00:15:03.37\00:15:06.29 I've been a pastor now 28 years 00:15:06.32\00:15:08.25 and you were well into your pastorship by that time, 00:15:08.28\00:15:11.92 growing up in Brooklyn, New York 00:15:11.95\00:15:13.01 and reading your books and even the ones that you put together. 00:15:13.04\00:15:15.94 And you have a couple here that I want to talk about 00:15:15.97\00:15:19.70 because-- just highlight that briefly for me, 00:15:19.73\00:15:22.20 you know, Bothersome and Disturbing Bible Passages. 00:15:22.23\00:15:26.22 This particular book I wrote 00:15:26.25\00:15:28.69 because there are a lot of people who come across 00:15:28.72\00:15:34.10 the text in the Bible they can't explain. 00:15:34.13\00:15:37.09 Right. 00:15:37.12\00:15:38.15 Or that are misunderstood or as the Bible says, rested. 00:15:38.18\00:15:44.92 To their own destruction. 00:15:44.95\00:15:46.10 Yeah, to their own destruction. 00:15:46.13\00:15:47.46 So I have a lot of people that I trained 00:15:47.49\00:15:51.08 and they don't have the advantage of experience 00:15:51.11\00:15:55.82 that I've had. 00:15:55.85\00:15:56.89 So I thought, okay, 00:15:56.92\00:15:58.50 there are all these texts that people throw at them 00:15:58.53\00:16:00.24 and said, this is what it says 00:16:00.27\00:16:01.35 when in reality it says the opposite. 00:16:01.38\00:16:02.86 Exactly. That's right. 00:16:02.89\00:16:04.19 So I put them together here. 00:16:04.22\00:16:06.15 In fact, I think I have hundred and-- verses of scripture. 00:16:06.18\00:16:11.57 It's 173. 00:16:11.60\00:16:13.18 Wow, challenging verses in the Bible. 00:16:13.21\00:16:15.69 Verses that are difficult to be understood 00:16:15.72\00:16:17.89 but the Bible explains it. 00:16:17.92\00:16:19.35 In other words, 00:16:19.38\00:16:20.42 I give a biblical explanation for that. 00:16:20.45\00:16:22.56 In fact, it's interesting that I had a call one time 00:16:22.59\00:16:28.32 from a guy that listen-- that speaks at 3ABN, 00:16:28.35\00:16:31.66 his name Doug Bachelor. 00:16:31.69\00:16:32.80 Oh, yes. Okay. 00:16:32.83\00:16:34.34 Another good friend. 00:16:34.37\00:16:35.90 So Doug called me up and says, 00:16:35.93\00:16:38.09 do you mind if I can use your book? 00:16:38.12\00:16:41.59 And I said, which one? 00:16:41.62\00:16:42.70 He says, Bothersome and Disturbing Bible Passages. 00:16:42.73\00:16:44.34 Can you send me a digital copy? 00:16:44.37\00:16:46.23 Because he has a program called-- 00:16:46.26\00:16:48.50 Bible Answers Live. Bible Answers Live. 00:16:48.53\00:16:50.84 So he wanted it to give a under grading 00:16:50.87\00:16:54.16 to some of the verses and scripture. 00:16:54.19\00:16:55.49 So it's turned up to be well used book 00:16:55.52\00:16:59.62 and in fact Amazing Facts keeps on asking for more. 00:16:59.65\00:17:03.26 This book has really-- this book has quite 00:17:03.29\00:17:05.55 a longevity behind it and it has helped 00:17:05.58\00:17:07.63 a lot of people grab those scriptures. 00:17:07.66\00:17:09.71 You know, one of the ones that I was listening to recently, 00:17:09.74\00:17:11.44 and we're not going to spend 00:17:11.47\00:17:12.51 whole the hour on this obviously, 00:17:12.54\00:17:13.63 but just to highlight what you're talking about, 00:17:13.66\00:17:16.05 there's a verse in the Bible that sometimes people say, 00:17:16.08\00:17:18.24 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 00:17:18.27\00:17:20.46 Well, there is not such scripture. 00:17:20.49\00:17:22.17 You know, Paul says, I would rather. 00:17:22.20\00:17:23.99 And so that's one of those scriptures 00:17:24.02\00:17:25.24 that you explained in here which-- 00:17:25.27\00:17:27.90 if you ever get a chance to get a copy of this book, 00:17:27.93\00:17:29.79 Bothersome and Disturbing Bible Passages 00:17:29.82\00:17:32.40 and we'll give you information 00:17:32.43\00:17:33.90 before the program is done to get that. 00:17:33.93\00:17:36.34 But you also talk about your conversion story. 00:17:36.37\00:17:39.29 Is that Demos or Angels? 00:17:39.32\00:17:40.69 No, this-- this one. 00:17:40.72\00:17:41.77 Oh, wait a minute. That's right. 00:17:41.80\00:17:42.84 That's a different on. 00:17:42.87\00:17:43.94 Yeah, this one is on actual demonic possession. 00:17:43.97\00:17:48.96 That's right. That's right. 00:17:48.99\00:17:50.08 And the reason that I wrote this book on demonic possession 00:17:50.11\00:17:52.57 because a lot of people confuse about this issue. 00:17:52.60\00:17:54.53 In fact I don't know if any course is given 00:17:54.56\00:17:57.58 in our theological seminaries on demonic possession, 00:17:57.61\00:18:00.54 how you deal with it, what it appears like, 00:18:00.57\00:18:03.06 what do you do when you see it 00:18:03.09\00:18:07.03 and also mistaken ideas about being possession. 00:18:07.06\00:18:12.45 For example somebody may have bipolar, 00:18:12.48\00:18:14.82 or have seizures and people who are into, 00:18:14.85\00:18:17.37 what is called the deliverance ministries 00:18:17.40\00:18:18.87 go around trying to find the demon in people. 00:18:18.90\00:18:21.26 And so you got a demon of chocolate, 00:18:21.29\00:18:22.67 or you got a demon of smoke, or you got a demon of allergy. 00:18:22.70\00:18:25.07 I've heard those before. 00:18:25.10\00:18:26.32 You've heard those before? Okay. 00:18:26.35\00:18:27.49 So what happens with those situations is that 00:18:27.52\00:18:30.76 if a person actually has a biological problem, 00:18:30.79\00:18:33.07 a physiological problem, a chemical problem. 00:18:33.10\00:18:37.32 In other words, sometimes the chemistry in the brain 00:18:37.35\00:18:40.57 is not functioning right, you can have symptoms 00:18:40.60\00:18:43.52 that are similar to demonic possession. 00:18:43.55\00:18:45.47 Right. 00:18:45.50\00:18:46.61 But let suppose that you are a person 00:18:46.64\00:18:48.30 who has bipolar, all right. 00:18:48.33\00:18:49.44 Somebody comes and says you are possessed 00:18:49.47\00:18:51.42 we're gonna cast out the demon. 00:18:51.45\00:18:52.58 Yeah, many persons have this. 00:18:52.61\00:18:53.71 All right, so they go about trying to cast out the demon 00:18:53.74\00:18:56.22 but there's no demon to cast out. 00:18:56.25\00:18:57.80 All right, so this person still remains with the problem. 00:18:57.83\00:19:01.43 So they begin to think 00:19:01.46\00:19:03.03 that they are subjects to the devil forever. 00:19:03.06\00:19:06.16 They can't be delivered. 00:19:06.19\00:19:07.22 Nobody can deliver him and then they commit suicide. 00:19:07.25\00:19:10.37 That's right. That's a very good book. 00:19:10.40\00:19:12.18 People need to-- you know, 00:19:12.21\00:19:13.73 in the Christian world, I don't want to label 00:19:13.76\00:19:15.77 any particular of the Christian world 00:19:15.80\00:19:16.94 but there are many instances-- you stated that. 00:19:16.97\00:19:19.45 Some people I've heard say, your son has an anxiety demon 00:19:19.48\00:19:24.19 or a demon of unrest and all these things 00:19:24.22\00:19:27.94 which in fact sometimes are just simple things 00:19:27.97\00:19:30.34 that could be diagnosed 00:19:30.37\00:19:31.42 and remedied with basic medications. 00:19:31.45\00:19:33.97 And sometimes its just diet. 00:19:34.00\00:19:35.55 Some people are in a bad diet and you change the diet 00:19:35.58\00:19:37.92 and boom, they are doing well 00:19:37.95\00:19:39.71 By the demon if indigestion, 00:19:39.74\00:19:42.50 could be remedied by a good died in reality. 00:19:42.53\00:19:45.18 And one more, Great Stories for Gaining Decisions. 00:19:45.21\00:19:47.82 That's a good one there. 00:19:47.85\00:19:48.89 I think all pastors need to read 00:19:48.92\00:19:51.93 because a lot of times-- just give us 00:19:51.96\00:19:53.29 a highlight on that one. 00:19:53.32\00:19:54.45 What inspired you to write that one? 00:19:54.48\00:19:56.03 There's a statement that says, 00:19:56.06\00:19:57.56 for the success, the secret of our success 00:19:57.59\00:20:00.86 is the people advocating advanced truth 00:20:00.89\00:20:03.05 who we found in making direct personal appeals 00:20:03.08\00:20:07.12 having unwavering reliance upon the most high. 00:20:07.15\00:20:10.50 Now every discipline has a secret to a success, right? 00:20:10.53\00:20:14.99 So if we are people advocating advanced truth. 00:20:15.02\00:20:18.88 Right. Which we are. 00:20:18.91\00:20:20.04 Which we are. 00:20:20.07\00:20:21.14 Then what is the secret of our success? 00:20:21.17\00:20:23.43 He says, making direct personal appeals. 00:20:23.46\00:20:27.62 So the statement says, making direct personal appeals. 00:20:27.65\00:20:29.97 So when I discovered this that a lot of preachers preach 00:20:30.00\00:20:33.86 wonderful sermons they make no appeals. 00:20:33.89\00:20:37.28 And since they make no appeals people don't decide. 00:20:37.31\00:20:39.80 That's right. 00:20:39.83\00:20:41.30 For example, most people 00:20:41.33\00:20:42.79 who advertise things on television, 00:20:42.82\00:20:45.65 for example, this will cost you $19.95. 00:20:45.68\00:20:48.41 That's it. 00:20:48.44\00:20:49.90 Did they say anything more? 00:20:49.93\00:20:51.94 Oh, they try to get you that-- make sure 00:20:51.97\00:20:53.33 they give you the information how to get it, 00:20:53.36\00:20:55.60 they do make more-- 00:20:55.63\00:20:56.83 Yeah, but when do they say to call? 00:20:56.86\00:20:59.11 Well-- Call now. 00:20:59.14\00:21:00.86 Well, they say, call now, right. 00:21:00.89\00:21:01.99 Okay, there you go. Exactly. 00:21:02.02\00:21:03.47 So what are they trying to make you do? 00:21:03.50\00:21:05.52 They want a decision right at this moment. 00:21:05.55\00:21:08.02 Why? 00:21:08.05\00:21:09.08 Because if all you do is give information 00:21:09.11\00:21:11.80 but you don't call for decision 00:21:11.83\00:21:13.76 then that's all of this information. 00:21:13.79\00:21:15.43 That's a good point. That's a very good point. 00:21:15.46\00:21:16.71 So the gospels are saying, Jesus said, follow me. 00:21:16.74\00:21:21.41 Didn't He? 00:21:21.44\00:21:22.73 And you'll find in the scriptures 00:21:22.76\00:21:24.68 appeals after appeals after appeals. 00:21:24.71\00:21:27.13 As for me and my family, my house will follow Lord. 00:21:27.16\00:21:32.87 "Choose you this day, whom you will serve?" 00:21:32.90\00:21:35.23 So you'll find appeals, appeals, appeals. 00:21:35.26\00:21:37.84 Then I find pastors who don't have the material. 00:21:37.87\00:21:41.55 This book has not only the appeals 00:21:41.58\00:21:44.38 but it has stories to reach the heart 00:21:44.41\00:21:46.77 because people have to be reached in the heart. 00:21:46.80\00:21:49.71 If all you do is reach the intellect... 00:21:49.74\00:21:54.48 You know, let me tell you the way Pastor C.A. Murray-- 00:21:54.51\00:21:56.89 and I am going to borrow this form you, Pastor C.A. 00:21:56.92\00:21:59.22 He was my pastor one time, now I am his pastor. 00:21:59.25\00:22:01.11 He says, if all you do is intellectually reach them, 00:22:01.14\00:22:05.33 you make them convicts, they don't become converts. 00:22:05.36\00:22:09.42 That's correct. Exactly. 00:22:09.45\00:22:10.77 They convicted, you can't argue with that, it's a conviction. 00:22:10.80\00:22:12.72 It's true. 00:22:12.75\00:22:13.78 So what do I do? 00:22:13.81\00:22:14.84 Until they make a decision they are not converts. 00:22:14.87\00:22:16.54 Exactly. 00:22:16.57\00:22:17.60 So in this book I have stories 00:22:17.63\00:22:20.44 about the particular topic that you presenting. 00:22:20.47\00:22:23.68 For example if you're going to be 00:22:23.71\00:22:24.74 talking about the second coming of Christ. 00:22:24.77\00:22:27.49 There are stories there that are heart touching stories 00:22:27.52\00:22:31.12 with the way they throw the appeal, what do you say. 00:22:31.15\00:22:34.81 Because a lot of pastors don't know what to say. 00:22:34.84\00:22:36.63 A lot of them, did you enjoy the message? 00:22:36.66\00:22:40.25 Let's pray. That's all. 00:22:40.28\00:22:41.47 Exactly. Exactly. 00:22:41.50\00:22:42.71 And that's fine but we're told 00:22:42.74\00:22:45.50 that people need to learn to make appeals. 00:22:45.53\00:22:47.76 So that's why I wrote this book. 00:22:47.79\00:22:50.80 It has helped many. 00:22:50.83\00:22:51.93 In fact ShareHim and other people 00:22:51.96\00:22:54.89 who go out and do preaching. 00:22:54.92\00:22:58.05 Several people have told me that they take this book, 00:22:58.08\00:23:00.39 give it to the people who purchase it 00:23:00.42\00:23:01.69 if they think to read the stories 00:23:01.72\00:23:02.79 so they can use for the appeals. 00:23:02.82\00:23:04.73 By getting encourage-- and just for those 00:23:04.76\00:23:06.40 who are listening to the program or watching, 00:23:06.43\00:23:07.69 ShareHim is a mission driven program that young people-- 00:23:07.72\00:23:12.13 older people alike, will go around the world, 00:23:12.16\00:23:14.14 different countries and give their own evangelistic series. 00:23:14.17\00:23:17.01 They have not been trained prior to that 00:23:17.04\00:23:19.39 so this is a very good material. 00:23:19.42\00:23:20.93 And young people, teenagers 00:23:20.96\00:23:22.60 had been amazed at the decisions 00:23:22.63\00:23:24.10 that they've been getting by simply going 00:23:24.13\00:23:26.26 and setting up a projector, preaching the sermons 00:23:26.29\00:23:28.91 and asking for decisions. 00:23:28.94\00:23:29.97 Amen. 00:23:30.00\00:23:31.05 But let's go to Guam Micronesia, 00:23:31.08\00:23:33.29 now because last time we got together in ministry 00:23:33.32\00:23:36.35 that was in Australia. 00:23:36.38\00:23:37.88 Yes. 00:23:37.91\00:23:38.94 You got a whole group of young people from Guam 00:23:38.97\00:23:41.57 and what a contingency you had. 00:23:41.60\00:23:44.01 Tell us about Guam 00:23:44.04\00:23:45.17 and the Micronesian Mission there. 00:23:45.20\00:23:47.22 Guam-Micronesia Mission 00:23:47.25\00:23:49.54 actually covers 2,900 miles across the Pacific. 00:23:49.57\00:23:55.04 Wow. 00:23:55.07\00:23:56.54 It is about 530 miles east of the Philippines. 00:23:56.57\00:24:00.13 Okay. 00:24:00.16\00:24:01.22 And so Guam is the hub or the center of the mission 00:24:01.25\00:24:05.81 but it goes to Yap, Palau, Chuuk, 00:24:05.84\00:24:08.33 Pohnpei, Kosrae, Majuro Islands. 00:24:08.36\00:24:11.92 So that's 2,900 miles. Okay. 00:24:11.95\00:24:14.06 It's about 1,000 miles north and south. 00:24:14.09\00:24:16.02 Wow. 00:24:16.05\00:24:17.08 So it's actually as long as the USA 00:24:17.11\00:24:19.65 is from California to New York. 00:24:19.68\00:24:21.58 It's just a little dot out there in the Pacific Ocean 00:24:21.61\00:24:23.60 like the axle in a bicycle wheel. 00:24:23.63\00:24:26.08 That's correct, it's a small dot. 00:24:26.11\00:24:28.52 But in that territory that now part 00:24:28.55\00:24:33.02 of the United States North American Division 00:24:33.05\00:24:37.03 you have many islands. 00:24:37.06\00:24:39.58 It have different people 00:24:39.61\00:24:42.77 of different cultures, different languages. 00:24:42.80\00:24:45.09 For example in Yap they speak Yapese. 00:24:45.12\00:24:47.73 Chuuk, they speak Chuukes, 00:24:47.76\00:24:49.65 in Pohnpei they speak Pohnpeian, 00:24:49.68\00:24:51.35 in Palau they speak Palauan 00:24:51.38\00:24:52.97 Have you learned any of those? 00:24:53.00\00:24:54.03 I've learned some Palauan and you know, 00:24:54.06\00:24:56.07 it's-- the fortunate thing is that 00:24:56.10\00:24:59.71 we provide education for all the islands. 00:24:59.74\00:25:03.04 In other words, we have schools in every major islands. 00:25:03.07\00:25:07.13 And what's wonderful about these schools 00:25:07.16\00:25:08.80 is that many of the children that go to our schools 00:25:08.83\00:25:12.14 end up going to college then up and end up 00:25:12.17\00:25:14.04 becoming leaders in their particular countries. 00:25:14.07\00:25:16.35 Amen. 00:25:16.38\00:25:17.41 For example, Palau, 00:25:17.44\00:25:19.24 the former president was an Adventist 00:25:19.27\00:25:22.78 who went through our school systems. 00:25:22.81\00:25:25.42 There are several senators who have gone to Walla Walla 00:25:25.45\00:25:27.88 and other colleges, who are living there now. 00:25:27.91\00:25:31.08 The queen went to South Western Adventist University 00:25:31.11\00:25:34.37 and she's still the queen in Palau. 00:25:34.40\00:25:37.38 Their high chief is there in Palau. 00:25:37.41\00:25:40.68 So all of these people, in Chuuk same thing, 00:25:40.71\00:25:43.88 we have some leaders there in Chuuk 00:25:43.91\00:25:45.19 and in Pohnpei the former Lieutenant Governor 00:25:45.22\00:25:47.35 who is now a pastor went through Walla Walla, 00:25:47.38\00:25:51.77 graduated went back. 00:25:51.80\00:25:53.22 The principal of the school was also one 00:25:53.25\00:25:54.93 who went to Walla Walla, 00:25:54.96\00:25:56.03 went back and became principal of the school. 00:25:56.06\00:25:57.97 So in Guam, the former Lieutenant Governor 00:25:58.00\00:26:01.18 went thought our schools 00:26:01.21\00:26:02.79 and finally went back and he's a doctor, 00:26:02.82\00:26:05.60 Went to Loma Linda, studied, became a doctor. 00:26:05.63\00:26:08.76 He's in Guam. 00:26:08.79\00:26:10.81 So what our educational system does is that 00:26:10.84\00:26:14.21 it gives opportunities for these young people 00:26:14.24\00:26:17.56 to better their own country or to find something 00:26:17.59\00:26:21.27 that they can do for their life. 00:26:21.30\00:26:24.17 The interesting thing 00:26:24.20\00:26:25.25 is that most of the teachers are student missionaries. 00:26:25.28\00:26:27.87 Okay. 00:26:27.90\00:26:30.38 That's young people who will take off 00:26:30.41\00:26:32.36 a year of their schooling and volunteer 00:26:32.39\00:26:35.09 and go out and teach English or Social Studies et cetera 00:26:35.12\00:26:39.71 and they serve for a year. 00:26:39.74\00:26:41.13 It's a life changing experience for them 00:26:41.16\00:26:44.17 as well as it's a blessing to their children. 00:26:44.20\00:26:48.43 Their parents want them to come to a school 00:26:48.46\00:26:50.64 that teaches English from English speaking kids. 00:26:50.67\00:26:53.29 Right. Like ESL, second language. 00:26:53.32\00:26:55.80 Yeah. But they are glad that-- 00:26:55.83\00:26:58.21 there are these college students 00:26:58.24\00:27:00.51 that are going and teaching their children in English 00:27:00.54\00:27:06.01 so that their children would be better able to attend 00:27:06.04\00:27:09.86 an English speaking school back in the States et cetera. 00:27:09.89\00:27:11.97 So these-- so the schools that you have 00:27:12.00\00:27:13.84 there in Guam Micronesia that whole territory, 00:27:13.87\00:27:18.01 you're touching leaders of all these different countries. 00:27:18.04\00:27:20.57 That's correct. 00:27:20.60\00:27:21.63 Helping them catapult themselves 00:27:21.66\00:27:23.16 not only in the political world, 00:27:23.19\00:27:26.43 in the secular world but also in the religions. 00:27:26.46\00:27:28.55 They get the foundation 00:27:28.58\00:27:30.05 that stays with them and that's amazing. 00:27:30.08\00:27:31.54 You mentioned the school-- so many of the schools 00:27:31.57\00:27:33.07 that are named schools in our denomination 00:27:33.10\00:27:36.00 the Seventh-day Adventist church. 00:27:36.03\00:27:37.50 And what does that-- 00:27:37.53\00:27:40.72 when you talk about the schools, 00:27:40.75\00:27:42.37 just talk about some of the curriculum there 00:27:42.40\00:27:44.68 because lot of times people may say, well, okay, 00:27:44.71\00:27:47.13 I am interested in maybe-- maybe I want to go to Guam. 00:27:47.16\00:27:49.75 What are some of the things that they could expect 00:27:49.78\00:27:50.98 with the curriculum out there? 00:27:51.01\00:27:52.04 Okay. It depends. 00:27:52.07\00:27:53.28 If they go to Guam, Guam is different. 00:27:53.31\00:27:55.24 You have to have bachelor's degree 00:27:55.27\00:27:56.46 because it's under the Federal system of the United States. 00:27:56.49\00:27:59.58 If you go to the other islands 00:27:59.61\00:28:00.69 then you don't have to have a degree. 00:28:00.72\00:28:01.93 Okay. 00:28:01.96\00:28:03.16 Somebody who's interested-- 00:28:03.19\00:28:05.97 we may have a retired person for example. 00:28:06.00\00:28:07.50 Okay. 00:28:07.53\00:28:08.57 Interested doing some missionary work, 00:28:08.60\00:28:11.13 they are pretty good in reading and maybe good in a subject, 00:28:11.16\00:28:14.67 Mathematics or Social Studies or English et cetera, 00:28:14.70\00:28:18.54 they can actually come out and volunteer. 00:28:18.57\00:28:20.84 They get the stipend, they get the housing 00:28:20.87\00:28:22.97 and they can volunteer for a year 00:28:23.00\00:28:24.23 or two years or three years and serve in changing 00:28:24.26\00:28:26.63 the young people's lives, 00:28:26.66\00:28:28.06 giving them a better chance for-- 00:28:28.09\00:28:30.72 not only for this life but for the life to come. 00:28:30.75\00:28:32.81 Now before you went out to Guam Micronesia, 00:28:32.84\00:28:35.42 you had a school that was Black Hills. 00:28:35.45\00:28:39.01 Talk about that because-- do you still have Black Hills? 00:28:39.04\00:28:41.27 Okay. 00:28:41.30\00:28:42.99 The school was in the Black Hills 00:28:43.02\00:28:45.38 and we got a black eye from that in the sense 00:28:45.41\00:28:49.25 that people still call it Black Hills 00:28:49.28\00:28:51.86 but it was not Black Hills 00:28:51.89\00:28:52.97 it was Mission College of Evangelism 00:28:53.00\00:28:55.04 in the Black Hills. 00:28:55.07\00:28:56.19 I get you. Okay. 00:28:56.22\00:28:57.30 So what happened was, there was a-- 00:28:57.33\00:29:00.13 basically a very diminishing program there, 00:29:00.16\00:29:04.11 wellness program and we went, 00:29:04.14\00:29:07.91 my wife was asked to be the head 00:29:07.94\00:29:10.98 to turn the situation around which then became 00:29:11.01\00:29:13.94 the Black Hill's Health Education Center. 00:29:13.97\00:29:15.90 I got you. Okay. 00:29:15.93\00:29:17.32 But in agreement that mission college 00:29:17.35\00:29:21.01 could be run there. 00:29:21.04\00:29:22.83 So mission college then was run in conjunction 00:29:22.86\00:29:25.72 with the wellness program as well. 00:29:25.75\00:29:28.01 And then in the mission college that's where, 00:29:28.04\00:29:29.94 for example we trained David Asscherick. 00:29:29.97\00:29:32.11 And that's where we trained, there was Rosario Brothers, 00:29:32.14\00:29:36.55 Jay and Yamil and Jeffrey. 00:29:36.58\00:29:39.99 Hiram Rester, John Bradshaw is one of the fellows 00:29:40.02\00:29:45.16 that I trained before. 00:29:45.19\00:29:47.82 So we have a lot of evangelist out there 00:29:47.85\00:29:49.93 that came from our training 00:29:49.96\00:29:52.41 that we did in the Black Hills or other places. 00:29:52.44\00:29:55.35 Then we moved the school from Black Hills to Oregon 00:29:55.38\00:29:58.65 at the old Laurelwood campus 00:29:58.68\00:30:01.61 and we ran a program there for several years 00:30:01.64\00:30:04.47 but then we didn't own the campus and it was sold. 00:30:04.50\00:30:06.82 Okay. 00:30:06.85\00:30:07.88 Well, during that time 00:30:07.91\00:30:08.94 then I got invited to be president of Guam Micronesia. 00:30:08.97\00:30:11.37 Okay. 00:30:11.40\00:30:13.00 So then we took the program to Guam, 00:30:13.03\00:30:15.99 and in fact one of your man that who works, Brandon. 00:30:16.02\00:30:19.90 Okay. 00:30:19.93\00:30:20.96 He went to Guam to take the Mission College program 00:30:20.99\00:30:24.30 and there was a young lady 00:30:24.33\00:30:26.37 who was also taking the program at the same time 00:30:26.40\00:30:28.72 who turned out now to be his wife. 00:30:28.75\00:30:30.35 Look at that. Look at that. 00:30:30.38\00:30:32.14 So he went to Guam, got the training, 00:30:32.17\00:30:34.85 he comes back and now he's working at 3ABN here 00:30:34.88\00:30:37.29 and his wife Jamie of course also took the program. 00:30:37.32\00:30:40.47 You have a picture of the Black Hill's Mission College. 00:30:40.50\00:30:45.66 Here is the picture of the church. 00:30:45.69\00:30:48.15 We just bought the church by the way in Canyonville, 00:30:48.18\00:30:50.88 Oregon, and it was a Mormon church 00:30:50.91\00:30:53.65 and we were able to get it for a wonderful price. 00:30:53.68\00:30:57.78 And this is the actual headquarters 00:30:57.81\00:31:00.27 now of mission college. 00:31:00.30\00:31:02.17 It's actually 9,000 square foot home. 00:31:02.20\00:31:05.31 Wow. 00:31:05.34\00:31:07.14 So it is 10 minutes from the church. 00:31:07.17\00:31:11.07 And so mission college headquarters 00:31:11.10\00:31:12.83 now is moving down to Canyonville, Oregon. 00:31:12.86\00:31:16.67 Okay. 00:31:16.70\00:31:17.80 We finally we're able to buy a place that we could utilize 00:31:17.83\00:31:20.98 as headquarters for the training. 00:31:21.01\00:31:23.02 We're also doing training-- Mission College will begin 00:31:23.05\00:31:26.08 its training next year again on the said site 00:31:26.11\00:31:29.69 but meanwhile it's been done in Guam. 00:31:29.72\00:31:32.18 We're also training medical people. 00:31:32.21\00:31:34.16 Now in Guam or in? 00:31:34.19\00:31:35.43 In Guam. 00:31:35.46\00:31:36.49 We've just began last, pardon me-- 00:31:36.52\00:31:39.50 this year we began medical training program for physicians 00:31:39.53\00:31:43.20 who want to learn how to become soul winners. 00:31:43.23\00:31:45.01 Look at that. 00:31:45.04\00:31:46.07 Because a lot of physicians have the skills 00:31:46.10\00:31:48.05 but don't know they have the skills. 00:31:48.08\00:31:49.16 Okay. 00:31:49.19\00:31:50.22 So they are afraid just to get involve in soul winning. 00:31:50.25\00:31:54.36 So we teach them how to get Bible studies, 00:31:54.39\00:31:58.25 we teach them how to preach, 00:31:58.28\00:31:59.77 we teach them how to get decisions. 00:31:59.80\00:32:02.06 How to make the transaction 00:32:02.09\00:32:03.27 from the physical to the spiritual, okay? 00:32:03.30\00:32:06.38 So that's a three week course. 00:32:06.41\00:32:07.57 In fact, it will begin in Guam the 19th of January. 00:32:07.60\00:32:11.50 So next training for those physicians or health personal 00:32:11.53\00:32:16.52 who want to learn how to make the transaction 00:32:16.55\00:32:19.22 from the physical to the spiritual. 00:32:19.25\00:32:21.88 And you have those various times of the year? 00:32:21.91\00:32:24.09 That's correct. Okay. 00:32:24.12\00:32:25.65 So the next one is in the 19th of January. 00:32:25.68\00:32:27.75 Okay. 00:32:27.78\00:32:28.92 For those who are interested and want to contact us, 00:32:28.95\00:32:32.78 its exciting, they can come for one week or three weeks. 00:32:32.81\00:32:35.15 Some doctors can't take three weeks. 00:32:35.18\00:32:37.34 Right. Demanding schedules. 00:32:37.37\00:32:38.79 But they can come for one week. 00:32:38.82\00:32:40.75 They come for one week, 00:32:40.78\00:32:42.04 they can be there in a tropical area, 00:32:42.07\00:32:45.08 enjoy the sunshine, 00:32:45.11\00:32:46.62 get away from the snow and all that, 00:32:46.65\00:32:48.38 take the training for a week and even if they want to, 00:32:48.41\00:32:51.57 they can come and also volunteer 00:32:51.60\00:32:53.05 the services as relief physicians for Guam clinic. 00:32:53.08\00:32:57.09 We have a clinic there with 200 employees. 00:32:57.12\00:32:59.96 And so it's an urgent care. 00:32:59.99\00:33:02.50 Dentist can come, we have a dental clinic there 00:33:02.53\00:33:04.50 and we have an eye clinic. 00:33:04.53\00:33:06.44 So they want to come and serve for a month 00:33:06.47\00:33:09.13 or three weeks as relief physician, 00:33:09.16\00:33:13.47 they could come. 00:33:13.50\00:33:15.65 You know, it's amazing to me as I am listening 00:33:15.68\00:33:16.95 to the story the Lord takes a young man who-- 00:33:16.98\00:33:19.63 as you admittedly talked about with an education 00:33:19.66\00:33:22.16 that you could barely read and now he's turning 00:33:22.19\00:33:24.52 the Pacific upside down, turning the world upside down 00:33:24.55\00:33:27.95 through all these lives 00:33:27.98\00:33:29.01 that have been touched and equipped. 00:33:29.04\00:33:30.59 You mentioned David Asscherick. 00:33:30.62\00:33:31.76 There are very few people 00:33:31.79\00:33:32.82 that haven't seen David Asscherick. 00:33:32.85\00:33:34.50 And now, right now, John Bradshaw, 00:33:34.53\00:33:36.95 the speaker director now of "It Is Written." 00:33:36.98\00:33:39.33 And Rosario Brothers, 00:33:39.36\00:33:41.67 they've often been at the GYC, 00:33:41.70\00:33:46.48 very gifted speakers. 00:33:46.51\00:33:48.50 Just to name a few, 00:33:48.53\00:33:49.96 because you're been doing this for some time. 00:33:49.99\00:33:51.89 Yeah, Justin McNeillis is one young man. 00:33:51.92\00:33:54.17 Justin McNeillis another good-- Well, very, very. 00:33:54.20\00:33:57.40 But before we go to the Mission College 00:33:57.43\00:33:58.93 I want to let the people that are listening 00:33:58.96\00:34:00.50 or watching the program 00:34:00.53\00:34:02.03 get the address to the Guam Micronesia Mission 00:34:02.06\00:34:04.78 so that if any of you is interested 00:34:04.81\00:34:07.74 you can use this information 00:34:07.77\00:34:09.42 to get in contact withy Pastor Torres 00:34:09.45\00:34:11.44 and those who are participating in that program. 00:34:11.47\00:34:13.59 And then we're going to go over 00:34:13.62\00:34:14.65 to the Mission College of Evangelism 00:34:14.68\00:34:16.54 because there's some new things happening 00:34:16.57\00:34:18.05 that we want the audience to know about. 00:34:18.08\00:34:19.38 Here's the information that you need. 00:34:19.41\00:34:22.44 If you'd like to get involved with this mission 00:34:22.47\00:34:24.70 then you can write to Guam Micronesia Mission, 00:34:24.73\00:34:27.79 290 Chalan Palayso, Agana Heights, Guam 96910. 00:34:27.82\00:34:33.40 That's Guam Micronesia Mission, 290 Chalan Palayso, 00:34:33.43\00:34:38.09 Agana Heights, Guam 96910. 00:34:38.12\00:34:41.47 You can call 671-477-9745. 00:34:41.50\00:34:45.92 That's 671-477-9745. 00:34:45.95\00:34:50.13 You can also email them at louisrtorres@cs.com. 00:34:50.16\00:34:55.47 That's louistorres@cs.com. 00:34:55.50\00:35:02.95 You know when you think about missionaries 00:35:07.97\00:35:09.79 and mission fields and the changes 00:35:09.82\00:35:11.98 that take place in the lives of individual 00:35:12.01\00:35:13.75 exposed to these kinds of training facilities 00:35:13.78\00:35:17.67 that are under the leadership of Pastor Louis Torres here 00:35:17.70\00:35:21.28 you think of those who have done 00:35:21.31\00:35:23.15 and are continuing to do. 00:35:23.18\00:35:24.80 But now there's some new things that you are aiming at. 00:35:24.83\00:35:27.44 We talk about Mission College of Evangelism. 00:35:27.47\00:35:30.22 Now we game some of the history of Mission College 00:35:30.25\00:35:32.12 in the Black Hills. 00:35:32.15\00:35:34.13 Program transaction to Oregon, then out to Guam Micronesia 00:35:34.16\00:35:37.13 but now you're trying to establish 00:35:37.16\00:35:38.53 a new campus talk about that. 00:35:38.56\00:35:40.41 Okay. 00:35:40.44\00:35:41.47 What's interesting about Mission College 00:35:41.50\00:35:42.91 is that it's basically 00:35:42.94\00:35:44.03 the mother of all these other schools that have-- 00:35:44.06\00:35:46.70 That is very true. 00:35:46.73\00:35:47.76 AFCOE was started by a young girl name Annie Care 00:35:47.79\00:35:51.83 who came to our training, 00:35:51.86\00:35:53.40 ARISE was started by David Asscherick. 00:35:53.43\00:35:55.10 That's right. 00:35:55.13\00:35:56.22 It's like mother of the program. 00:35:56.25\00:35:57.55 So Mission College is actually the mother-- 00:35:57.58\00:35:58.92 there's one in JOSIA in Germany, 00:35:58.95\00:36:01.74 there's one Emmanuel up in Michigan. 00:36:01.77\00:36:03.98 So all of these were students of Mission College 00:36:04.01\00:36:06.66 who got inspired and trained. 00:36:06.69\00:36:08.45 Now ARISE, that was down in Florida. 00:36:08.48\00:36:10.01 Exactly. 00:36:10.04\00:36:11.10 You know, you make a point. 00:36:11.13\00:36:12.16 I want to highlight that because you're right. 00:36:12.19\00:36:13.73 Long before all of these other schools 00:36:13.76\00:36:15.42 began to be dotted around various-- 00:36:15.45\00:36:18.49 the inspiration came from what God had been 00:36:18.52\00:36:20.73 doing in your life for many decades. 00:36:20.76\00:36:22.87 I used the words decades not to say you are an older person 00:36:22.90\00:36:25.38 but the experience in the know how, 00:36:25.41\00:36:28.63 they went there to get that because I remember 00:36:28.66\00:36:30.46 when I first met David Asscherick, 00:36:30.49\00:36:31.85 this young man. 00:36:31.88\00:36:34.56 Now he's in Australia, pastoring over there 00:36:34.59\00:36:37.64 but the inspiration came from Mission College. 00:36:37.67\00:36:39.87 But now you are expanding on the program. 00:36:39.90\00:36:41.28 Talk about the expansion. 00:36:41.31\00:36:42.35 Okay, So what now we are doing 00:36:42.38\00:36:44.15 is we are providing also training 00:36:44.18\00:36:45.72 for medical people as well. 00:36:45.75\00:36:49.63 We are now, praise the Lord, 00:36:49.66\00:36:53.43 have a stable center 00:36:53.46\00:36:57.34 because before we didn't own the facilities. 00:36:57.37\00:36:59.94 So since we didn't own 00:36:59.97\00:37:01.07 the facilities it was all usual for us 00:37:01.10\00:37:03.16 somebody to sell it from underneath us 00:37:03.19\00:37:05.25 which what happened in Laurelwood. 00:37:05.28\00:37:07.04 And so then I was struck 00:37:07.07\00:37:08.82 within trailers for almost five years 00:37:08.85\00:37:12.77 because I've been in Guan for five years. 00:37:12.80\00:37:14.73 So finally the Lord blessed 00:37:14.76\00:37:16.71 and this facility that now we have, 00:37:16.74\00:37:19.60 we're moving everything down there 00:37:19.63\00:37:21.58 and the idea is also to provide 00:37:21.61\00:37:25.72 a training that we have been providing 00:37:25.75\00:37:28.56 because there have been people who have been asking, 00:37:28.59\00:37:31.13 now we heard of ARISE, we heard of these schools 00:37:31.16\00:37:34.50 but we also found out that you are the originator. 00:37:34.53\00:37:36.75 So they thought why should I go to the others 00:37:36.78\00:37:40.59 when I can go to-- 00:37:40.62\00:37:41.68 The original one. 00:37:41.71\00:37:43.49 I said, well, you know, don't think that way. 00:37:43.52\00:37:45.75 But if you feel that the Lord 00:37:45.78\00:37:46.92 is leading you to Mission College, 00:37:46.95\00:37:48.23 by all means you come into Mission College. 00:37:48.26\00:37:49.99 So we're excited now that it's gonna be able 00:37:50.02\00:37:53.80 to be run on a regular basis. 00:37:53.83\00:37:57.28 But apart from that we do have the opportunity 00:37:57.31\00:38:01.42 to train medical personal in soul wining 00:38:01.45\00:38:05.61 which just started it in Guam where we, this-- 00:38:05.64\00:38:09.15 last March we did a three week training program. 00:38:09.18\00:38:12.44 Okay. 00:38:12.47\00:38:13.51 And the doctors were taught how to give Bible studies, 00:38:13.54\00:38:17.19 how to make appeals, how to write sermons. 00:38:17.22\00:38:20.87 Then we took them to Palau to do a field school 00:38:20.90\00:38:24.83 and there they able to learn how to pray with the patience 00:38:24.86\00:38:28.66 because these physicians hadn't done that before. 00:38:28.69\00:38:31.20 One was-- 00:38:31.23\00:38:32.39 Not part of the medical training. 00:38:32.42\00:38:33.59 Right, right, it isn't part of the medical training. 00:38:33.62\00:38:35.99 So one was a lady who was a Methodist, 00:38:36.02\00:38:38.45 specialist in wound care. 00:38:38.48\00:38:41.31 So she attended the program and then she went with us 00:38:41.34\00:38:44.24 to Palau and I noticed the first day, 00:38:44.27\00:38:46.64 none of the doctors prayed with any of their patients. 00:38:46.67\00:38:50.13 So in the evening I said, I've noticed that 00:38:50.16\00:38:51.89 you folk are just doing 00:38:51.92\00:38:54.10 the habitual things of you know, 00:38:54.13\00:38:57.01 evaluating, examining and things like that. 00:38:57.04\00:38:59.32 I said, you need to bridge that and get tied together 00:38:59.35\00:39:04.14 with people in the spiritual aspect. 00:39:04.17\00:39:06.55 So this doctor-- they began 00:39:06.58\00:39:09.05 and this doctor at the end of the second day was crying. 00:39:09.08\00:39:11.56 She said, I've been to many mission opportunities 00:39:11.59\00:39:15.73 with you know other people, 00:39:15.76\00:39:18.18 and she said, you finally helped me to connect. 00:39:18.21\00:39:23.24 Wow. Praise God to that. 00:39:23.27\00:39:24.46 And then her husband 00:39:24.49\00:39:25.90 who was sitting next to me said Pastor, 00:39:25.93\00:39:29.78 I've been watching the Adventist now for a while, 00:39:29.81\00:39:33.65 and he said, I want to ask something. 00:39:33.68\00:39:36.01 I said, what's that? 00:39:36.04\00:39:37.08 And he said, when is your next baptismal service? 00:39:37.11\00:39:39.90 Why? 00:39:39.93\00:39:40.98 He said, because in the next baptismal service 00:39:41.01\00:39:43.36 I want to be in it. 00:39:43.39\00:39:44.49 Praise the Lord. 00:39:44.52\00:39:45.86 So they came back all excited. 00:39:45.89\00:39:48.21 Then part of the training 00:39:48.24\00:39:50.33 is also to hold an evangelistic meeting. 00:39:50.36\00:39:52.09 Okay. 00:39:52.12\00:39:53.15 So then we have an evangelistic meeting. 00:39:53.18\00:39:54.89 Praise the Lord, several people were baptized, 00:39:54.92\00:39:56.51 so these doctors were bringing to the meetings. 00:39:56.54\00:39:59.68 Look at that. 00:39:59.71\00:40:00.75 So it just turned their whole life around. 00:40:00.78\00:40:04.12 And I've heard some doctor say, you know, 00:40:04.15\00:40:06.52 I used to do medicine of the body 00:40:06.55\00:40:09.41 but now I do both medicine of the body and the soul. 00:40:09.44\00:40:12.29 You know because you could-- 00:40:12.32\00:40:14.81 the story of Jesus in the paralytic, 00:40:14.84\00:40:17.99 He made two statements. 00:40:18.02\00:40:20.30 First, take the bad and walk and your sins are forgiven you. 00:40:20.33\00:40:23.54 That's the connection to the spiritual 00:40:23.57\00:40:25.65 and the physical together because you could heal the body 00:40:25.68\00:40:28.34 but if the mind is not revived and restored then a person 00:40:28.37\00:40:31.85 as they uses word in the correctional facilities, 00:40:31.88\00:40:36.66 are the recidivism rate. 00:40:36.69\00:40:38.86 They could go back if they had not been freed mentally 00:40:38.89\00:40:41.21 from the things that may have gotten them ill. 00:40:41.24\00:40:43.35 Alcohol abuse, drug abuse whatever those things are, 00:40:43.38\00:40:45.94 those are the actual causes of many of the diseases 00:40:45.97\00:40:49.18 that people suffer from but that's praise the Lord 00:40:49.21\00:40:51.18 that these doctors are getting the spiritual side 00:40:51.21\00:40:54.49 when they've already had the medical given to them. 00:40:54.52\00:40:55.86 Amen. 00:40:55.89\00:40:56.93 Well, another thing that we're doing 00:40:56.96\00:40:58.58 is we're encouraging people into mission. 00:40:58.61\00:41:01.21 And for example, some of our students-- 00:41:01.24\00:41:03.73 I don't know if you know Congo. 00:41:03.76\00:41:05.31 In the Congo there's a Mosier, Keith Mosier. 00:41:05.34\00:41:10.14 I have met him but I could know him. 00:41:10.17\00:41:11.53 All right. 00:41:11.56\00:41:12.61 He came to Mission College, took the training, 00:41:12.64\00:41:14.95 went to Congo, established a training center there 00:41:14.98\00:41:18.30 and that young boy and his wife also, 00:41:18.33\00:41:20.97 they came to our Mission College, 00:41:21.00\00:41:22.24 they were 18 years old. 00:41:22.27\00:41:23.62 They went over there to the Congo 00:41:23.65\00:41:25.29 and they have been there for several years now 00:41:25.32\00:41:27.73 and the last time I saw them with ASI they said they have-- 00:41:27.76\00:41:30.85 they are sponsoring 75 Bible workers. 00:41:30.88\00:41:33.08 What? 00:41:33.11\00:41:35.14 See, there you go. So lighting the torches. 00:41:35.17\00:41:38.06 Exactly, so it's training people to know 00:41:38.09\00:41:43.52 how to be used by the Spirit of God, 00:41:43.55\00:41:46.81 to share the good news of salivation. 00:41:46.84\00:41:49.11 Even if they don't have the qualification 00:41:49.14\00:41:51.86 that most people think you need, 00:41:51.89\00:41:54.16 you know, to do work for the Master. 00:41:54.19\00:41:57.11 Now and the establishment 00:41:57.14\00:41:58.32 of this new school in Canyonville, Oregon, 00:41:58.35\00:42:01.90 talk about some of the needs you have there 00:42:01.93\00:42:03.34 because you know, when you-- 00:42:03.37\00:42:04.41 you got the facility, 00:42:04.44\00:42:05.49 you got the church, the house. 00:42:05.52\00:42:06.78 Praise the Lord for that 00:42:06.81\00:42:07.85 but right now is it in the infant stages? 00:42:07.88\00:42:09.96 It's in the infant stages. 00:42:09.99\00:42:11.02 One of the things we would need would be 00:42:11.05\00:42:13.50 to start building some resident housing. 00:42:13.53\00:42:17.38 Okay. 00:42:17.41\00:42:18.44 Because the house we bought of course will house office, 00:42:18.47\00:42:21.10 will house the-- 00:42:21.13\00:42:22.61 Operations. 00:42:22.64\00:42:23.67 Operations and all that. 00:42:23.70\00:42:24.79 But we'll need-- we have the actual building 00:42:24.82\00:42:27.91 for the classrooms and all that, the church, 00:42:27.94\00:42:31.10 we have the area, we have Medford, Oregon, 00:42:31.13\00:42:35.16 which is a big town, 00:42:35.19\00:42:36.55 in Canyonville we have a Grants Pass. 00:42:36.58\00:42:39.07 So we have other area in which we work 00:42:39.10\00:42:41.41 but now we'll need to get some housing for the students. 00:42:41.44\00:42:43.49 Okay. 00:42:43.52\00:42:44.59 And so pretty much putting together somewhat of a campus. 00:42:44.62\00:42:47.51 That's correct. 00:42:47.54\00:42:48.58 If you think about something like that 00:42:48.61\00:42:49.71 you're talking about units wise. 00:42:49.74\00:42:52.43 So about generally what kind of-- 00:42:52.46\00:42:54.90 how many units-- 00:42:54.93\00:42:56.13 We try to have, to begin with-- 00:42:56.16\00:43:00.02 if we have 12 plex for example where we can have 24 students. 00:43:00.05\00:43:04.34 Okay. 00:43:04.37\00:43:05.77 That would be fine because we try to keep it small 00:43:05.80\00:43:11.57 because here's what we've discovered. 00:43:11.60\00:43:12.84 You can have a bunch of people coming 00:43:12.87\00:43:15.42 and it looks great because of the numbers 00:43:15.45\00:43:17.96 but when you have too many people 00:43:17.99\00:43:20.02 you cannot really work with them 00:43:20.05\00:43:22.71 with their own personal needs. 00:43:22.74\00:43:23.98 That's right. 00:43:24.01\00:43:25.04 So what we discovered is fewer in number, 00:43:25.07\00:43:29.18 do quality training 00:43:29.21\00:43:30.90 and then when they go out they are successful. 00:43:30.93\00:43:32.55 Right. 00:43:32.58\00:43:33.63 There's where you get closer one to one investment 00:43:33.66\00:43:36.14 because you're right, there's some schools 00:43:36.17\00:43:37.61 that have large campuses 00:43:37.64\00:43:39.77 but some of the students that may need more attention, 00:43:39.80\00:43:42.08 they fall through the cracks and they may have-- 00:43:42.11\00:43:44.38 they may have enjoyed their time there 00:43:44.41\00:43:45.78 but they come away not as enhance as-- 00:43:45.81\00:43:47.25 Sure, we discovered this, yes, 00:43:47.28\00:43:48.66 that you can take people who have a natural ability-- 00:43:48.69\00:43:52.53 Those type A's like you and me. 00:43:52.56\00:43:53.59 Exactly. 00:43:53.62\00:43:54.65 And then all you have to do 00:43:54.68\00:43:55.71 is give them a packets and run with them. 00:43:55.74\00:43:57.22 Right. 00:43:57.25\00:43:58.28 But most people are not that way. 00:43:58.31\00:44:00.08 So we used to have-- 00:44:00.11\00:44:01.26 when I used to be vice president of Amazing Facts 00:44:01.29\00:44:03.42 I started the training for Amazing Facts 00:44:03.45\00:44:06.81 in one week training program. 00:44:06.84\00:44:08.95 And what we saw was that they always had these hi flyer. 00:44:08.98\00:44:11.55 For example Brian McMahon was somebody 00:44:11.58\00:44:14.46 that we trained there, 00:44:14.49\00:44:16.05 Steve Wohlberg was somebody that we trained there. 00:44:16.08\00:44:19.89 Kim Kjaer, Jack Pefley, many of these evangelists, 00:44:19.92\00:44:26.17 okay, we did one week training program, okay. 00:44:26.20\00:44:30.35 But we found that also 00:44:30.38\00:44:32.12 that generally speaking a lot of the people 00:44:32.15\00:44:34.20 that came needed under-girding as far as knowing the word 00:44:34.23\00:44:39.15 which needed more time. 00:44:39.18\00:44:40.29 You cannot do that in a week. 00:44:40.32\00:44:41.80 That's true. 00:44:41.83\00:44:42.87 So you have various lengths of program. 00:44:42.90\00:44:44.81 Talk about some of the different durations. 00:44:44.84\00:44:46.99 So we have one week program, we have three week program, 00:44:47.02\00:44:49.42 we have three and a half month program, 00:44:49.45\00:44:51.93 and then we have seven month program 00:44:51.96\00:44:53.58 when we train pastoral ministry. 00:44:53.61\00:44:54.91 Okay. 00:44:54.94\00:44:55.97 The reason for that is that 00:44:56.00\00:44:57.03 we find that a lot of young people 00:44:57.06\00:44:59.14 do not have the training. 00:44:59.17\00:45:01.55 For example in how you run a church? 00:45:01.58\00:45:04.78 How do you operate the church? 00:45:04.81\00:45:06.72 How you do parliamentary procedures? 00:45:06.75\00:45:09.27 The basic things, how do you do baptism? 00:45:09.30\00:45:11.07 How do you do wedding? 00:45:11.10\00:45:12.14 How do you do-- the basic things 00:45:12.17\00:45:13.91 that pastor should have knowledge of. 00:45:13.94\00:45:17.62 Unfortunately not a lot of place you 00:45:17.65\00:45:18.97 don't get trained to do those tings, 00:45:19.00\00:45:20.43 I am talking about universities. 00:45:20.46\00:45:21.49 Right. 00:45:21.52\00:45:22.58 And so then the program that we offer 00:45:22.61\00:45:25.13 is hands on practical program where people can learn 00:45:25.16\00:45:27.99 the practical aspects of ministry. 00:45:28.02\00:45:29.71 They learn it intellectually then they get a chance 00:45:29.74\00:45:31.69 while they are there put into practice. 00:45:31.72\00:45:32.75 That's correct. 00:45:32.78\00:45:33.81 So they're going to say well, 00:45:33.84\00:45:34.97 this week you're going to have your first communion service, 00:45:35.00\00:45:37.37 you're gonna officiate it. 00:45:37.40\00:45:38.48 That's correct. 00:45:38.51\00:45:39.56 And we're gonna take you on a visitation 00:45:39.59\00:45:41.20 to see how you interact. 00:45:41.23\00:45:42.27 Exactly. 00:45:42.30\00:45:43.33 That's good because that's very necessarily. 00:45:43.36\00:45:45.11 And so this new mission in Canyonville, 00:45:45.14\00:45:51.88 you have the church building, you have the office that home, 00:45:51.91\00:45:55.27 you just need the facility, the 12 plex, 00:45:55.30\00:45:57.36 I think that's the word-- 00:45:57.39\00:45:58.45 To start housing people. To start housing people. 00:45:58.48\00:46:00.52 We can put some in the church, we can put some in the house 00:46:00.55\00:46:04.47 but that's not enough, we'll need-- 00:46:04.50\00:46:06.71 Exactly.
