either a missionary 00:02:21.35\00:02:24.23 or we are a mission field. 00:02:24.26\00:02:26.42 Well, today you're going to meet 00:02:26.45\00:02:27.65 those who are headed to the mission field, 00:02:27.68\00:02:29.68 which legitimately qualifies them to be missionaries 00:02:29.71\00:02:33.23 in the making. 00:02:33.26\00:02:35.05 But as you know, before we introduce our guest 00:02:35.08\00:02:36.72 we always have music. 00:02:36.75\00:02:38.15 And today Steve Darmody and Jaclyn Pruehs 00:02:38.18\00:02:42.70 are going to lead by singing a wonderful song 00:02:42.73\00:02:45.42 "Vision of Tomorrow." 00:02:45.45\00:02:48.12 Doors close in front of me 00:03:07.56\00:03:11.15 That were once familiar paths 00:03:11.18\00:03:15.59 Routine slips away from me 00:03:15.62\00:03:19.53 That I thought would always last 00:03:19.56\00:03:23.50 But here I stand at this crossroad 00:03:23.53\00:03:28.24 Unsure what God has planned 00:03:28.27\00:03:32.48 A whisper to my heart is heard 00:03:32.51\00:03:36.57 And by faith I understand 00:03:36.60\00:03:40.12 God doesn't let the sun set 00:03:40.15\00:03:44.51 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:03:44.54\00:03:48.27 And you'll never seen a shadow fall 00:03:48.30\00:03:53.43 Without Him knowing all 00:03:53.46\00:03:56.71 And If He should choose to close the door 00:03:56.74\00:04:02.03 Somewhere there's a window 00:04:02.06\00:04:06.22 'Cause God doesn't let the sun set 00:04:06.25\00:04:10.16 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:04:10.19\00:04:15.39 I've been feeling a new direction 00:04:20.46\00:04:25.37 Calling for some time 00:04:25.40\00:04:29.66 Walking toward the great unknown 00:04:29.69\00:04:33.54 I feel as though I'm blind 00:04:33.57\00:04:37.46 But I know that You're leading me 00:04:37.49\00:04:42.05 My destiny You hold 00:04:42.08\00:04:46.21 A new horizon waits ahead 00:04:46.24\00:04:50.02 Full of promise untold 00:04:50.05\00:04:53.82 God doesn't let the sun set 00:04:53.85\00:04:58.24 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:04:58.27\00:05:02.20 You'll never see a shadow fall 00:05:02.23\00:05:07.22 Without Him knowing all 00:05:07.25\00:05:10.68 If He should choose to close the door 00:05:10.71\00:05:15.74 Somewhere there's a window 00:05:15.77\00:05:19.85 'Cause God doesn't let the sun set 00:05:19.88\00:05:23.51 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:05:23.54\00:05:27.98 So I'll walk on 00:05:28.01\00:05:32.20 Though this road may be ending 00:05:32.23\00:05:36.26 And there's a brighter dawn 00:05:36.29\00:05:40.66 There's a brand new beginning 00:05:40.69\00:05:46.18 'Cause God doesn't let the sun set 00:05:46.21\00:05:50.86 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:05:50.89\00:05:54.54 And you'll never see a shadow fall 00:05:54.57\00:05:59.83 Without Him knowing all 00:05:59.86\00:06:02.99 And If He should choose to close the door 00:06:03.02\00:06:08.42 Somewhere there's a window 00:06:08.45\00:06:12.49 'Cause God doesn't let the sun set 00:06:12.52\00:06:16.26 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:06:16.29\00:06:19.94 And If He should choose to close the door 00:06:19.97\00:06:25.25 Somewhere there's a window 00:06:25.28\00:06:29.43 'Cause God doesn't let the sun set 00:06:29.46\00:06:33.07 Without a vision of tomorrow 00:06:33.10\00:06:38.50 Thank you so much for that wonderful song, 00:06:59.55\00:07:01.95 "Vision of Tomorrow." 00:10:31.64\00:10:33.66 Lot of times we like to declare our liberty. 00:10:33.69\00:10:36.28 When, in fact, we don't really realize 00:10:36.31\00:10:38.31 in declaring our disconnect from God, 00:10:38.34\00:10:40.35 we're actually declaring our bondage and-- 00:10:40.38\00:10:41.84 Yeah, absolutely. 00:10:41.87\00:10:42.90 I've been there, I know what you are talking about. 00:10:42.93\00:10:44.41 Yeah. 00:10:44.44\00:10:45.47 But what are some of those avenues that you went down 00:10:45.50\00:10:48.81 that God actually followed you down, 00:10:48.84\00:10:51.69 as we can see today? 00:10:51.72\00:10:52.76 Oh, wow. 00:10:52.79\00:10:54.04 Let's see there were-- for the most part I was, 00:10:56.99\00:11:02.56 I was fairly protected. 00:11:02.59\00:11:04.14 I didn't, I didn't get involved into a lot of drugs, 00:11:04.17\00:11:09.16 a lot of crime, 00:11:09.19\00:11:10.36 you know, I've heard some incredible testimony 00:11:10.39\00:11:12.09 and so how God has pulled people out of crime. 00:11:12.12\00:11:14.69 I was pretty, pretty, pretty fortunate. 00:11:14.72\00:11:17.53 I had a nice middle-class upbringing, you know, 00:11:17.56\00:11:22.23 but I think that 00:11:22.26\00:11:24.74 wanting to achieve what I wanted, that I, 00:11:24.77\00:11:27.28 you know, things started coming into my life at an early age. 00:11:27.31\00:11:31.27 Let's, we call adult material. 00:11:31.30\00:11:33.47 Things that, things that we shouldn't be looking at 00:11:33.50\00:11:35.64 came in at an early age in my life 00:11:35.67\00:11:38.21 and it implanted the wrong seed, okay. 00:11:38.24\00:11:43.51 As I, as I got through college 00:11:43.54\00:11:47.41 I was doing the typical things that you'll do in college, 00:11:48.99\00:11:50.34 you know, at a where you are not 00:11:50.37\00:11:53.38 in a Christian school or anything, 00:11:53.41\00:11:54.86 You're, you are drinking, 00:11:54.89\00:11:56.66 you doing those things on the weekend. 00:11:56.69\00:11:58.12 That whole free spirited... 00:11:58.16\00:11:59.72 Yeah, yeah. 00:11:59.75\00:12:00.78 I was, I was following my passions, 00:12:00.81\00:12:06.11 I got-- I found a previous marriage and, 00:12:06.14\00:12:11.50 and this is little bit hard to talk about. 00:12:11.53\00:12:13.65 All right. 00:12:13.68\00:12:14.72 But-- and that was quite a ways back 00:12:14.75\00:12:18.15 and it-- that marriage ended really bad through, 00:12:18.18\00:12:23.36 through adultery and that it was you know, 00:12:23.39\00:12:26.79 my misunderstanding of how a relationship should be 00:12:26.82\00:12:30.67 and seeking something in my heart 00:12:30.70\00:12:32.57 that just was gonna lead down the wrong path 00:12:32.60\00:12:34.82 and it destroyed that relationship. 00:12:34.85\00:12:36.82 And for about 10 years after that, 00:12:36.85\00:12:39.53 just give or take about 10 years, you know, 00:12:39.56\00:12:41.74 I had a lot of guilt, a lot of sadness, tremendous, 00:12:41.77\00:12:46.61 you know, and I was always trying to fill my heart 00:12:46.64\00:12:49.17 with the things that would take me out of that. 00:12:49.20\00:12:52.31 You know, I was responsible for destroying 00:12:52.34\00:12:54.27 that relationship. 00:12:54.30\00:12:55.83 And so I filled my heart with my sports, my activities, 00:12:55.86\00:13:02.49 you know, with anything that would take my mind off of it. 00:13:02.52\00:13:05.95 So were you one of those outdoors guys, 00:13:05.98\00:13:08.21 get involve in risky spots? 00:13:08.24\00:13:09.77 Absolutely. 00:13:09.80\00:13:10.83 I loved as a little kid jumping off things, 00:13:10.86\00:13:14.07 I think my son loves jumping off things. 00:13:14.10\00:13:16.19 We got to go rock climb-- 00:13:16.22\00:13:17.26 we went to rock climbing gym the other day. 00:13:17.29\00:13:18.80 He climbed right up 25 feet 00:13:18.83\00:13:20.24 and on those one of those self repelling ropes 00:13:20.27\00:13:23.58 and they let you swing down so. 00:13:23.61\00:13:25.20 So he doesn't believe in lowing with you always, 00:13:25.23\00:13:27.50 okay. 00:13:27.53\00:13:29.13 But as you, as you begin to take this journey 00:13:29.16\00:13:32.00 and you shared something's there 00:13:32.03\00:13:33.44 that are quite telling in the sense that, 00:13:33.47\00:13:36.02 what I want to highlight in that is that 00:13:36.05\00:13:38.89 the Lord and I have this phrase that I use, 00:13:38.92\00:13:41.49 I've heard it growing up, 00:13:41.52\00:13:42.79 the Lord reaches to the gutter most 00:13:42.82\00:13:44.77 and saves us to the uttermost. 00:13:44.80\00:13:46.84 So there's no path that we can go down 00:13:46.87\00:13:49.49 that the Lord will say Tony, you're on your own, 00:13:49.52\00:13:52.71 I wait till you come out of that. 00:13:52.74\00:13:53.77 Amen. 00:13:53.80\00:13:54.83 You know, He sends His spirit after us 00:13:54.86\00:13:57.03 and in the midsts of our breaking poin, 00:13:57.06\00:14:00.03 and in the midsts of our tumbling's and assembling 00:14:00.06\00:14:02.50 God's call in our lives still remain 00:14:02.53\00:14:06.31 and I'm hearing that. 00:14:06.34\00:14:08.06 Yes. 00:14:08.09\00:14:09.16 Yes, I-- 00:14:09.19\00:14:13.01 God had always, and the really fantastic thing about God 00:14:13.04\00:14:16.97 is that just exactly what you said. 00:14:17.00\00:14:19.00 He is with you, staying with you 00:14:19.03\00:14:21.00 even when you're turning your back against Him. 00:14:21.03\00:14:24.89 There's a verse in the Bible, I'm gonna paraphrase it that 00:14:24.92\00:14:27.42 Jesus died for us while we were yet still sinners. 00:14:27.45\00:14:29.89 Right. 00:14:29.92\00:14:30.95 He, He did that ultimate price and we didn't even want it. 00:14:33.02\00:14:36.90 You know, we are much more content 00:14:36.93\00:14:38.85 what will we have here. 00:14:38.88\00:14:41.80 I understand that. 00:14:41.83\00:14:42.86 Yes, I'm sorry. That's okay, 00:14:42.89\00:14:44.03 I never use to get choked up 00:14:44.06\00:14:45.16 and now I get choked up all the time. 00:14:45.19\00:14:46.65 That's okay. 00:14:46.68\00:14:47.85 You know, when we think about what God has done for us, 00:14:47.88\00:14:50.19 it should bring to hearts this deep sense 00:14:50.22\00:14:53.12 of appreciation and gratitude 00:14:53.15\00:14:55.13 that it would move us some times. 00:14:55.16\00:14:57.08 And that's okay, that's okay to be moved. 00:14:57.11\00:14:59.02 But I know that some where along the way in your journeys, 00:14:59.05\00:15:02.67 not rolling too far forward, 00:15:02.70\00:15:05.53 the Lord brought you out of that life 00:15:05.56\00:15:07.31 and brought someone else into your life. 00:15:07.34\00:15:09.41 Oh, praise God. 00:15:09.44\00:15:11.03 Darah, may be you want to ask, 00:15:11.06\00:15:12.74 may be you want to kind of put something in here 00:15:12.77\00:15:14.19 right now I say? 00:15:14.22\00:15:15.25 At what point did you meet Tony? 00:15:15.28\00:15:17.89 We met about four years ago 00:15:17.92\00:15:20.03 and I think we both knew right away that 00:15:20.06\00:15:23.45 we had been looking for someone 00:15:23.48\00:15:25.46 and that the, for me I felt it was the God, 00:15:25.49\00:15:28.13 that God was bringing someone to me. 00:15:28.16\00:15:29.92 At that point Tony didn't have faith 00:15:29.95\00:15:32.02 and we were dating and so when the question came from me, 00:15:32.05\00:15:35.90 do you know the Lord and he said no, 00:15:35.94\00:15:38.44 we hit a crossroads. 00:15:38.47\00:15:39.68 Wow. And he started changing. 00:15:39.71\00:15:42.33 The Lord started and not because of me 00:15:42.36\00:15:44.90 but the Lord started touching his heart 00:15:44.93\00:15:46.94 and we often say of that, that I brought him to the Lord 00:15:46.97\00:15:51.16 and then he brought me to some specific truths. 00:15:51.19\00:15:53.35 Okay. So-- 00:15:53.38\00:15:54.95 Well, give us a peak into your background 00:15:54.98\00:15:56.78 because you know, God is putting this is a family 00:15:56.81\00:15:59.57 that God is putting together. 00:15:59.60\00:16:00.82 He has. 00:16:00.85\00:16:01.89 And Jackson is the great benefactor of, 00:16:01.92\00:16:04.59 of God this union that God has brought together. 00:16:04.62\00:16:07.30 But just kind of give us a peak into your, into your journey. 00:16:07.33\00:16:11.32 Well, I was brought to the Lord when I was 15 00:16:11.35\00:16:15.40 from a friend who had had some terrible trauma in her life 00:16:15.43\00:16:19.74 but she was so happy and I just thought, 00:16:19.77\00:16:22.34 you know, I want what she has. 00:16:22.37\00:16:24.31 And so I-- I came to the Lord but I didn't follow the Lord. 00:16:24.34\00:16:29.82 I came to the Lord, was baptized 00:16:29.85\00:16:31.52 and then lived my life away from the Lord 00:16:31.55\00:16:33.33 for a very long time. 00:16:33.36\00:16:34.81 I didn't know the full extent 00:16:34.84\00:16:36.26 of what was giving her that peace, 00:16:36.29\00:16:38.08 you know, reading the word, praying to God, 00:16:38.11\00:16:41.25 I was just in church when I could be and-- 00:16:41.28\00:16:44.36 and so, through some hard times and some broken marriages. 00:16:44.39\00:16:50.12 I was a single mother and then when Tony came along, 00:16:50.15\00:16:54.12 he just was-- he was just a breath of fresh air 00:16:54.15\00:16:58.26 because I had never experience someone with, 00:16:58.29\00:17:02.58 even though he didn't know the Lord right away, 00:17:02.61\00:17:05.82 he had responsibility, he had love for my son. 00:17:05.85\00:17:11.73 So I began to change and grow closer to Lord too. 00:17:11.76\00:17:15.07 So, the Lord really orchestrated 00:17:15.10\00:17:16.76 a lot in bringing us together, I think. 00:17:16.79\00:17:18.85 Now the reason why I deicide to peek 00:17:18.88\00:17:20.66 somewhat into the background, 00:17:20.69\00:17:21.72 lot of times when people hear about some one 00:17:21.75\00:17:23.71 going to ministry, they say, yeah, surely. 00:17:23.74\00:17:26.05 Christians all their lives they come from these great homes, 00:17:26.08\00:17:28.52 you know, probably Adventist schools all their lives, 00:17:28.55\00:17:30.86 you know, clean kids and never done anything wrong. 00:17:30.89\00:17:32.88 That's not the case. No. 00:17:32.91\00:17:34.46 God looks at us and as you said that text is so beautiful, 00:17:34.49\00:17:38.01 in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us 00:17:38.04\00:17:41.20 and as a pastor, you know, that speaks volumes 00:17:41.23\00:17:43.38 because I know, that where I'm is not where I planed on being. 00:17:43.41\00:17:47.79 And as you mentioned at the beginning of the program, 00:17:47.82\00:17:49.34 at the top of the program you're in transition now, 00:17:49.37\00:17:52.30 from Albuquerque, New Mexico to New Guinea, 00:17:52.33\00:17:55.96 and I think next stop, New Jerusalem. 00:17:55.99\00:17:59.00 I include that. Amen. 00:17:59.04\00:18:00.35 See, all these new things in your life. 00:18:00.38\00:18:02.54 New Mexico to New Guinea to, 00:18:02.57\00:18:04.59 and then I always say to people 00:18:04.62\00:18:06.07 I'm from New York to New Jerusalem. 00:18:06.10\00:18:07.92 But I want to peek now into your life 00:18:07.95\00:18:10.38 because we're talking about piloting here 00:18:10.41\00:18:12.49 and while you are not a, 00:18:12.52\00:18:14.75 presently a missionary pilot having flown many 00:18:14.78\00:18:18.15 missionary pilot 00:18:18.18\00:18:21.29 whatever phrase I can use here, 00:18:21.32\00:18:22.86 missions, you have a quite an extensive pilot background, 00:18:22.89\00:18:27.30 just tell us about that. 00:18:27.33\00:18:30.49 I had been flying as a commercial pilot 00:18:30.52\00:18:31.97 for 17 or 18 years. 00:18:32.00\00:18:33.41 Ever since I was a lot younger to him 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.62 I dreamed of flying, ever since I was three or four years old 00:18:35.65\00:18:38.03 and when I was little, I'd dream about, 00:18:38.06\00:18:40.26 we would go to Lookout Mountain and I'd see the hand gliders 00:18:40.29\00:18:43.14 and I'd go home and I'd read the brochure and for years, 00:18:43.17\00:18:45.22 I'd would say how can I get $300 if I can learn 00:18:45.25\00:18:47.13 how to hand glide and I was nine years old and that's. 00:18:47.16\00:18:49.42 So I just wanted to be in the air 00:18:49.45\00:18:51.58 and I had astigmatism in my left eye 00:18:51.61\00:18:55.29 and they said and I was told early on well, 00:18:55.32\00:18:57.11 you won't you, won't be pilot. 00:18:57.14\00:18:58.93 You won't be in the military 00:18:58.96\00:19:00.81 and I think that was a blessing. 00:19:00.84\00:19:02.05 I was in the military for sure, but not in the flying sense. 00:19:02.08\00:19:04.97 As I-- as I got into college, 00:19:08.64\00:19:12.75 I went to a small local state college 00:19:12.78\00:19:15.46 and there's an airport 00:19:15.49\00:19:16.53 in New Hampshire, King New Hampshire 00:19:16.56\00:19:18.06 and I wanted to start taking flying lessons. 00:19:18.09\00:19:20.38 And my mother helped me out for little bit of money 00:19:20.41\00:19:22.79 and from that point, for next five years, 00:19:22.82\00:19:25.90 I was working odd jobs and working at the airport 00:19:25.93\00:19:28.20 and just kind of built this career up 00:19:28.23\00:19:30.26 and I learned everything that what I could do 00:19:30.29\00:19:32.64 how to make a job out of flying an airplane 00:19:32.67\00:19:35.40 and I kind of narrowed it down to well, 00:19:35.43\00:19:38.23 most interesting type of flying 00:19:38.26\00:19:39.63 looks like may be flying in the airlines, 00:19:39.66\00:19:41.15 you get to go to training and work in simulators 00:19:41.18\00:19:43.85 and you know, looks very professional 00:19:43.88\00:19:46.20 and its got a pretty good schedule may be, 00:19:46.23\00:19:48.38 but I was, I was, I wasn't so much interested 00:19:48.41\00:19:50.42 in the money as I was just how that would be. 00:19:50.45\00:19:52.60 That whole experience. Yeah, that experience. 00:19:52.63\00:19:54.98 And so God-- even though, 00:19:55.01\00:19:57.07 at this point of my life, 00:19:57.10\00:19:59.77 I really was not living with the Lord at all. 00:19:59.80\00:20:02.14 I mean, not at all. 00:20:02.17\00:20:03.20 There were times later my life 00:20:03.23\00:20:04.27 where I was praying to the Lord, 00:20:04.30\00:20:06.37 as I started experiencing some difficulties. 00:20:06.40\00:20:10.41 And I suppose I worked my way up 00:20:10.44\00:20:12.58 the typical civilian route, you start out, 00:20:12.61\00:20:15.79 you know, get all your experience 00:20:15.82\00:20:17.13 and you start teaching people to fly, 00:20:17.16\00:20:18.83 you can build a little more flight time 00:20:18.86\00:20:20.69 and then you want to look for job, 00:20:20.72\00:20:22.11 where they, they will hire you 00:20:22.14\00:20:23.64 with still fairly low hours as a commercial pilot, 00:20:23.67\00:20:25.66 you'll find jobs flying banners. 00:20:25.69\00:20:27.09 I flew checks at night for a year 00:20:27.12\00:20:28.75 all through our New England every night. 00:20:28.78\00:20:30.12 What's checks? Bank checks. 00:20:30.15\00:20:31.92 Oh, bank checks. 00:20:31.95\00:20:32.98 These days it's digital but in 1997, 98 it was still, 00:20:33.01\00:20:38.51 you actually had the, there is a company that took checks 00:20:38.54\00:20:40.84 to the Federal Reserve that would-- 00:20:40.87\00:20:41.90 Okay. 00:20:41.93\00:20:42.96 You had to be there at a certain time. 00:20:42.99\00:20:44.02 So it was just like a mini FedEx that would fly 00:20:44.05\00:20:46.12 these bank checks all around the nation at night, 00:20:46.15\00:20:48.53 take smaller planes to bigger planes. 00:20:48.56\00:20:50.49 That was, you know, so I was that was 00:20:50.52\00:20:52.67 one of my first commercial jobs. 00:20:52.70\00:20:54.07 It was an all night deal, every night. 00:20:54.10\00:20:55.64 Flying checks. 00:20:55.67\00:20:56.70 So you are the part of the check republic. 00:20:56.73\00:20:58.60 Well-- No pun intended. 00:20:58.63\00:21:00.75 Yeah, could be and then, 00:21:00.78\00:21:05.03 went on from that, you know, flying is, 00:21:05.06\00:21:08.17 it's one of these careers where you could do really well, 00:21:08.20\00:21:11.33 you could not be that great, you could do really well 00:21:11.36\00:21:13.14 with just the right timing or you could be a great pilot 00:21:13.17\00:21:15.40 and you could never really succeed, 00:21:15.43\00:21:16.94 because you hit it at the wrong time. 00:21:16.97\00:21:19.11 It is almost like riding a wave, so to speak. 00:21:19.14\00:21:20.98 Yeah, exactly, exactly. 00:21:21.01\00:21:22.15 And there was a big wave at the end of the '90s 00:21:22.18\00:21:24.72 and I was able to kind of one job after the other, 00:21:24.75\00:21:27.11 I never had a bad job. 00:21:27.14\00:21:28.79 They just kind of stair stepped up and up. 00:21:28.82\00:21:30.97 You know, it took a lot of time and had to move a lot. 00:21:31.00\00:21:35.71 I remember when I went to my 10 year high school reunion, 00:21:35.74\00:21:38.46 my-- a teacher saw me and I was really excited. 00:21:38.49\00:21:43.64 I was so proud and I was, you see how you do? 00:21:43.67\00:21:45.64 What you're doing? I'm a pilot. 00:21:45.67\00:21:47.65 I work for such a-- I'm sorry I touched the microphone. 00:21:47.68\00:21:50.44 I work for suchand such airline 00:21:50.47\00:21:51.81 and the first thing he said to me is, 00:21:51.84\00:21:53.46 oh, that's not a very good family job, is it? 00:21:53.49\00:21:55.81 You know, my-- 00:21:55.84\00:21:56.97 My bubble just my bubble just burst you know, 00:21:57.00\00:21:59.27 I couldn't, I couldn't-- 00:21:59.31\00:22:00.38 Couldn't recover from that comment at the time. 00:22:03.10\00:22:05.92 Yeah, yeah, and but you know, what he was right. 00:22:05.95\00:22:07.78 Its not-- and you know, in some situations 00:22:07.81\00:22:09.67 it's not the best family job 00:22:09.70\00:22:11.21 because you can be gone, you may be moving a lot 00:22:11.24\00:22:13.96 you know, I was moving to a different area 00:22:13.99\00:22:16.56 to get a better job. 00:22:16.59\00:22:18.09 But God did bless, that was, 00:22:18.12\00:22:20.48 He allowed me to go from there to working 00:22:20.51\00:22:23.74 for US Air Express for seven years 00:22:23.77\00:22:26.06 and then on to a larger company. 00:22:26.09\00:22:30.12 That's where things started to change. 00:22:30.15\00:22:31.69 Wow. 00:22:31.72\00:22:33.03 So the schedules increased tremendously 00:22:33.06\00:22:35.08 and the demands increased. 00:22:35.11\00:22:37.59 They could it just depends what your seniority is. 00:22:37.62\00:22:40.00 If you are, if you have fairly good seniority 00:22:40.03\00:22:41.79 you can hold a fairly good schedule. 00:22:41.82\00:22:44.79 You know, and from most of my life 00:22:44.82\00:22:46.61 I really, I wasn't trying to honor the Lord, 00:22:46.64\00:22:48.40 so schedule didn't matter. 00:22:48.43\00:22:50.12 And once the Lord came into my life, 00:22:50.15\00:22:52.29 schedule became a completely different thing. 00:22:52.32\00:22:55.27 And so when you met Darah, am I saying that correctly? 00:22:55.30\00:22:57.99 Yes. 00:22:58.02\00:22:59.56 Were you still connected to these, 00:22:59.59\00:23:01.79 any one of these flying jobs? 00:23:01.82\00:23:05.34 That's a, that's a loose phrase there, 00:23:05.37\00:23:06.92 flying job, 'cause I'm trying to honor that 00:23:06.95\00:23:09.75 you did mentioned the airline, 00:23:09.78\00:23:11.54 but was he flying when you met him? 00:23:11.57\00:23:13.88 Yes, yes. 00:23:13.91\00:23:14.94 He was flying and which worked out wonderfully 00:23:14.97\00:23:17.58 because I lived in Tennessee and he could come and visit 00:23:17.61\00:23:22.51 whenever he wanted to. 00:23:22.54\00:23:23.69 So that was with the schedules he had at the time, 00:23:23.72\00:23:26.47 it was a huge blessing because, 00:23:26.50\00:23:28.76 you know, it might take many people, 00:23:28.79\00:23:30.41 many, many years to get to know each other, 00:23:30.44\00:23:31.82 we got to know each other much quicker 00:23:31.85\00:23:33.65 because of the availability, 00:23:33.68\00:23:35.31 so-- 00:23:35.34\00:23:36.37 Okay, that was good. 00:23:36.40\00:23:37.43 So you're not really afraid of flying? 00:23:37.46\00:23:38.98 I could just use that phrase loosely. 00:23:39.01\00:23:40.79 No, no. 00:23:40.82\00:23:42.16 More comfortable on an airplane that I am standing 00:23:42.19\00:23:44.05 on a little like a 20 foot staircase 00:23:44.08\00:23:46.84 looking down, you know. 00:23:46.87\00:23:47.99 And just to put the qualifications together, 00:23:48.02\00:23:49.85 we're not talking about your limitation 00:23:49.88\00:23:51.39 being a Cessna 210 or a Cessna 182, 00:23:51.42\00:23:54.17 but you flew actually jets. 00:23:54.20\00:23:56.65 For several years, 00:23:56.68\00:23:58.47 I have, I have several in positions, yeah. 00:23:58.50\00:24:00.55 Like some of-- just because I'm flight enthusiast, 00:24:00.58\00:24:03.28 I just love that, just kind of give me some, 00:24:03.31\00:24:05.44 humor me come some-- 00:24:05.47\00:24:06.89 what are the types of airlines like, seven-- 00:24:06.92\00:24:09.89 Yeah, well, lot of us now are gonna be-- 00:24:09.92\00:24:12.39 if you go to the airport, 00:24:12.42\00:24:13.46 you're gonna fly in the smaller jet. 00:24:13.49\00:24:14.65 So I was in the regional airline industries, 00:24:14.68\00:24:16.90 so I have flew a CRJ200 and 700, 50 seats, 00:24:16.93\00:24:19.78 70 seat regional jet for a couple of years. 00:24:19.81\00:24:22.45 And when I went to their larger cargo airline, 00:24:22.48\00:24:25.54 I was a flight engineer on 727. 00:24:25.57\00:24:28.00 A older aircraft and at that point, 00:24:28.03\00:24:30.95 you actually come out the pilot seat 00:24:30.98\00:24:32.11 and you know, you just running the gauges. 00:24:32.14\00:24:33.36 Its like, it's like you are in a time warp 00:24:33.39\00:24:35.04 that goes back 50 years you're looking at this 00:24:35.07\00:24:36.63 old piece of equipment-- 00:24:36.66\00:24:37.69 727? 00:24:37.72\00:24:38.81 Yeah, but it's-- Workhorse. 00:24:38.84\00:24:40.81 It is, yes, and so I got to sit there 00:24:40.84\00:24:43.98 for quite of few years but I had good schedule 00:24:44.01\00:24:45.59 so I stayed right there. 00:24:45.62\00:24:46.65 It allowed me to do what I wanted to do in my life. 00:24:46.68\00:24:48.61 I could have a week on, week off, 00:24:48.64\00:24:50.29 it was a good schedule so, and the last couple of years 00:24:50.32\00:24:54.01 I was in a 757 00:24:54.04\00:24:56.24 in the right seat as a co-pilot. 00:24:56.27\00:24:57.80 Okay, yeah, I like this 757's. 00:24:57.83\00:25:00.19 I just like that getup and go it has. 00:25:00.22\00:25:01.86 It does. It goes up like an elevator. 00:25:01.89\00:25:03.61 It's the airplane that you want to be in. 00:25:03.64\00:25:07.07 I'll tell you after about my joys of flying 00:25:07.10\00:25:09.34 but this is your program. 00:25:09.37\00:25:10.87 Tell me, at what point the transition of phase 00:25:10.90\00:25:13.70 because you go from flying in the midsts of heaven, 00:25:13.73\00:25:16.76 you know, really I'm looking at the three angels 00:25:16.79\00:25:18.45 messages here, now God is preparing you for, 00:25:18.48\00:25:20.45 to proclaim a message 00:25:20.48\00:25:21.51 that is flying in the midsts of heaven. 00:25:21.54\00:25:23.09 Tell me about that transition, 00:25:23.12\00:25:24.58 where the Lord took you from that 00:25:24.61\00:25:25.79 and began to put in to your heart this desire 00:25:25.82\00:25:29.59 to kind of move your life in a different direction? 00:25:29.62\00:25:31.94 Absolutely, that's a pretty big question, 00:25:31.97\00:25:33.69 so please help me here guide me along 00:25:33.72\00:25:36.10 if I get off-course here. 00:25:36.13\00:25:37.76 But like I say, it started about, late, 00:25:37.79\00:25:39.37 about four years ago, 00:25:39.40\00:25:40.54 you know, through that through that period before that 00:25:40.57\00:25:42.11 where I was mentioning earlier, that I prayed to the Lord 00:25:42.14\00:25:45.72 but there was-- 00:25:45.75\00:25:46.94 because I would hit deep parts of depression in my life, 00:25:46.97\00:25:49.47 you know, I would just anything calling out, calling out 00:25:49.50\00:25:52.67 but I had a lot of sin in my life 00:25:52.70\00:25:54.12 that was kind of blocking me 00:25:54.15\00:25:56.32 from fully connecting with the Lord. 00:25:56.35\00:25:58.06 He would reach out to me but I would turn from Him, 00:25:58.09\00:26:00.07 as soon as I was done praying 00:26:00.10\00:26:01.21 and get right back in the same lifestyle, 00:26:01.24\00:26:02.62 I was at, you know, that the next hour. 00:26:02.65\00:26:05.41 And so, for a while I had, I had told, 00:26:05.44\00:26:11.67 I was looking to meet somebody to-- 00:26:11.70\00:26:16.83 that would may do the types of things that I was doing. 00:26:16.86\00:26:19.72 And when I met my wife, 00:26:19.75\00:26:21.99 I'd always told myself in my mind 00:26:22.02\00:26:23.59 said, you know, you may have to change 00:26:23.62\00:26:25.44 what you're doing in your life. 00:26:25.47\00:26:27.18 You may have to give up some of the-- 00:26:27.21\00:26:28.47 your passions and lifestyle things that you live for 00:26:28.50\00:26:31.59 if you meet the right person, if you ever really want to be, 00:26:31.62\00:26:34.48 you know, find the right person. 00:26:34.51\00:26:37.91 And when I met Darah she was just, 00:26:37.94\00:26:41.68 although, although her lifestyle 00:26:41.71\00:26:43.04 was different than my lifestyle, 00:26:43.07\00:26:44.68 I saw something in her that you know, 00:26:44.71\00:26:47.68 I just I wanted in my life. 00:26:47.71\00:26:50.82 She had peace, she was happy, 00:26:50.85\00:26:53.57 she was sincere and she has a sense of adventure 00:26:53.60\00:26:57.13 like we both have a sense of adventure. 00:26:57.16\00:26:58.53 Hand gliders. 00:26:58.56\00:26:59.98 She's done it a few times yeah, that how we met actually, 00:27:00.01\00:27:03.36 and, so, as Darah said earlier she had asked me that question 00:27:03.39\00:27:08.14 and she says that, are you Christian? 00:27:08.17\00:27:10.33 I said, well, I grew up as a Christian 00:27:10.36\00:27:11.62 but no, I'm not living as Christian. 00:27:11.65\00:27:13.91 And I want Darah to chime in on that 00:27:13.94\00:27:15.62 because you get this intersection 00:27:15.65\00:27:17.82 and I briefly asked you, how did you guys meet? 00:27:17.85\00:27:19.97 You said it was how you met, online? 00:27:20.00\00:27:23.74 Right, we did. 00:27:23.77\00:27:25.29 In that profile. 00:27:25.32\00:27:26.52 We met online and it was, it was a fitness site 00:27:26.55\00:27:30.81 for who were interested in adventure activities. 00:27:30.84\00:27:34.87 And so Tony was very big into hand gliding 00:27:34.90\00:27:38.46 and had flown solo, 00:27:38.49\00:27:40.42 I had not but was running out of things to check 00:27:40.45\00:27:43.17 and I had checked hand gliding 00:27:43.20\00:27:44.92 because I had taken one flight tandem. 00:27:44.95\00:27:47.44 You know, I didn't jump off by myself 00:27:47.47\00:27:49.33 but when he went to search for a female 00:27:49.36\00:27:52.48 that might be interested in hand gliding as he was, 00:27:52.51\00:27:54.57 he only came with three and all of the eastern US. 00:27:54.60\00:27:57.24 So-- That's a quick narrow down. 00:27:57.27\00:27:59.56 Right, God just narrow down the choices for him. 00:27:59.59\00:28:02.47 But what he didn't know is your connection with God. 00:28:02.50\00:28:04.57 That's right. Okay. 00:28:04.60\00:28:06.20 And so that has now we talked about this briefly 00:28:06.23\00:28:09.11 but the Lord is still working in your life. 00:28:09.14\00:28:12.62 Bringing you to that place where 00:28:12.65\00:28:13.97 He knows you're going to be. 00:28:14.00\00:28:15.58 Yeah. Amen. 00:28:15.61\00:28:16.99 Now what I want to do because we have this seven minute roll, 00:28:17.02\00:28:19.43 I want you to get us ready for that. 00:28:19.46\00:28:21.11 What are we about to see? 00:28:21.14\00:28:23.17 Okay, this is a video about friends that we have made 00:28:23.20\00:28:30.65 in that Gary and Toni Lewis. 00:28:30.68\00:28:32.06 It's about the beginning of their mission work 00:28:32.09\00:28:34.54 in Papua New Guinea in the north, western part 00:28:34.57\00:28:38.41 where there is not a lot of mission activity going on. 00:28:38.44\00:28:41.41 And my wife made the video for them and it will-- 00:28:41.44\00:28:46.02 as we got to meet them, we got to see what they were doing. 00:28:46.05\00:28:49.64 God had led different missionaries into our lives, 00:28:49.67\00:28:52.11 to kind of show us what it was like. 00:28:52.14\00:28:54.71 And so we got involved with them a little bit 00:28:54.74\00:28:58.30 by helping to help them in things 00:28:58.33\00:29:00.39 that we might be able to help them with. 00:29:00.42\00:29:01.84 Darah was really excited to help them with making video 00:29:01.87\00:29:05.09 and we just want to share it so, 00:29:05.12\00:29:08.27 our audience could see what this, 00:29:08.30\00:29:10.86 this particular mission is about. 00:29:10.89\00:29:12.30 Okay. 00:29:12.33\00:29:13.36 A preview into where you're headed actually. 00:29:13.39\00:29:14.96 Sure. Okay, enjoy. 00:29:14.99\00:29:16.54 A land where things can change rapidly and suddenly, 00:29:45.38\00:29:48.47 Papua New Guinea has aptly been named Land of the Unexpected. 00:29:48.50\00:29:52.26 With lush jungles, rivers and ocean shores, 00:29:52.29\00:29:55.22 this is a country full of beauty, 00:29:55.25\00:29:57.09 however it is also a country riddled with struggles. 00:29:57.12\00:30:00.45 In the Sandaun Province of Papua New Guinea, 00:30:00.48\00:30:03.02 in the northwest corner, 00:30:03.05\00:30:04.23 lay some of the most remote areas of the country. 00:30:04.26\00:30:07.40 In this region are thousands of small villages 00:30:07.43\00:30:09.94 that are inaccessible except by a 25 hour canoe trip 00:30:09.97\00:30:13.21 up the Sepik River or by air. 00:30:13.24\00:30:15.69 These areas are plagued with low literacy rates, 00:30:15.72\00:30:18.47 extremely low income levels due to lack of resources 00:30:18.50\00:30:21.36 and commerce opportunities 00:30:21.39\00:30:23.53 and the health of the people here remains poor 00:30:23.56\00:30:25.57 from lack of health workers and access to healthcare. 00:30:25.60\00:30:28.80 From years past there are many airstrips 00:30:33.95\00:30:36.40 scattered about this region 00:30:36.43\00:30:37.84 but currently, only about a quarter of those 00:30:37.87\00:30:40.15 are in operation today due to lack of funding 00:30:40.18\00:30:43.03 and economical air transportation. 00:30:43.06\00:30:45.52 However just beyond the town of Vanimo pass the mountains 00:30:45.55\00:30:48.87 to the south is the Rima Valley which lays Bhavani. 00:30:48.90\00:30:52.39 In Bhavani is an airstrip. 00:30:52.42\00:30:54.46 It is the closest airstrip to the upper Sepik region 00:30:54.49\00:30:57.44 that is accessible by road 00:30:57.47\00:30:59.37 and is where the Jungle Mission Aviation Project 00:30:59.40\00:31:02.23 will setup base operations. 00:31:02.26\00:31:04.53 From there, they will be able to reach out 00:31:04.56\00:31:06.44 to the remote areas and provide not only emergency evacuations 00:31:06.47\00:31:10.33 but also take in medical supplies, 00:31:10.36\00:31:12.93 medical personnel and then Bible workers. 00:31:12.96\00:31:16.19 The need here is great. 00:31:45.47\00:31:47.86 We have talked with 00:31:47.89\00:31:48.92 the provisional health director here 00:31:48.95\00:31:52.25 who is the director for the whole state of Sandaun Province 00:31:52.28\00:31:58.05 and he's excited that we are here 00:31:58.08\00:31:59.94 because he has many health posts 00:31:59.97\00:32:02.22 that he has no way of reaching, 00:32:02.25\00:32:05.08 other than somebody packing in supplies 00:32:05.11\00:32:08.03 for several days walk or via canoe. 00:32:08.06\00:32:11.92 And in fact, yesterday, he was telling us that 00:32:11.95\00:32:14.29 half of the aid stations or clinics 00:32:14.32\00:32:17.75 that he is in-charge of do not even have an airstrip. 00:32:17.78\00:32:23.17 But could be made accessible to helicopter 00:32:23.20\00:32:26.16 if we had helicopter here to work with us 00:32:26.19\00:32:29.97 but, he did make it very clear 00:32:30.00\00:32:32.61 and so did the district administrator that 00:32:32.64\00:32:35.41 once there is a plane here and it's flying, 00:32:35.44\00:32:38.13 they will do everything possible to encourage people 00:32:38.16\00:32:40.88 to get the airstrips opened up. 00:32:40.91\00:32:43.17 The government has some funds to help with that, 00:32:43.20\00:32:45.12 to get the strips opened, 00:32:45.15\00:32:48.01 to make an accessible and to keep it maintained. 00:32:48.04\00:32:50.86 And they are just exited that somebody is willing to come 00:32:50.89\00:32:53.65 and help in these areas. 00:32:53.68\00:32:55.52 The district administrator-- the provincial health worker 00:32:55.55\00:32:59.90 the day he was here, 00:32:59.93\00:33:01.59 did mention that that day 00:33:01.62\00:33:04.31 he had a request for two Medavax 00:33:04.34\00:33:06.89 from remote villages 00:33:06.92\00:33:07.97 but there was nobody to go get them, no airplane to go. 00:33:08.00\00:33:11.61 There are some planes that do some flights for them, 00:33:11.64\00:33:14.93 they are very expensive and so they can't do too many of them 00:33:14.96\00:33:19.43 and often they're not available to go do that. 00:33:19.46\00:33:22.05 So he's excited about the possibility that 00:33:22.08\00:33:24.95 there would be actually some air support 00:33:24.98\00:33:27.11 that's focused on health for the region. 00:33:27.14\00:33:31.40 And we spoke with some, some of the medics 00:33:31.43\00:33:34.56 from the Sepik area further south of us 00:33:34.59\00:33:38.10 and they are excited to have us come in 00:33:38.13\00:33:40.81 to the May River, Ama area 00:33:40.84\00:33:43.33 and help some of those villagers there 00:33:43.36\00:33:45.32 with air support. 00:33:45.35\00:33:46.76 We can put a house up, get a hangar up, 00:33:46.79\00:33:50.64 get things fixed up so we can bring the plane in 00:33:50.67\00:33:52.34 and begin flight operations. 00:33:52.37\00:33:54.06 Get some trans-- some communication. 00:33:54.09\00:33:55.85 And we have to have transportation 00:33:55.88\00:33:58.01 and there's a problem of communication 00:33:58.04\00:34:00.43 and water and power. 00:34:00.46\00:34:03.45 So there's lot's of things to work on, 00:34:03.48\00:34:06.20 we have lot's of needs 00:34:06.23\00:34:07.34 for people who would like to come down and help. 00:34:07.37\00:34:09.86 And if they can't come, financial help of course 00:34:09.89\00:34:12.75 is greatly needed things are extremely expensive here, 00:34:12.78\00:34:16.34 but we have seen that God is able 00:34:16.37\00:34:19.47 to provide what is needed, when it's needed. 00:34:19.50\00:34:22.13 The people here have brought us food, 00:34:22.16\00:34:25.47 more than we can eat sometime-- 00:34:25.50\00:34:26.77 Just been overly generous, 00:34:26.80\00:34:28.12 they're excited to be a part of the program. 00:34:28.15\00:34:30.37 The lay people here, the lay church workers 00:34:30.40\00:34:33.54 are excited to go out in the bush and do evangelism. 00:34:33.57\00:34:36.97 They want to do education, 00:34:37.00\00:34:38.11 they want to reach their people. 00:34:38.14\00:34:40.04 And so, they're excited that we are here 00:34:40.07\00:34:42.60 to help them accomplish that 00:34:42.63\00:34:44.60 and are joining the team just to, to be a part of it. 00:34:44.63\00:34:48.22 My name is Pastor Gamundegera, 00:34:48.25\00:34:51.43 I work at the local mission here in Sepik Mission 00:34:51.46\00:34:55.13 as a personal ministry and Sabbath school director. 00:34:55.16\00:34:58.23 Geographically, Sepik Mission is very big. 00:34:58.26\00:35:03.06 We have Sepik around the coast, 00:35:03.09\00:35:06.09 we have in land and then we have Sepik, 00:35:06.12\00:35:09.01 mighty Sepik River and upper Sepik River 00:35:09.04\00:35:11.70 where we have so many people 00:35:11.73\00:35:14.55 who needs the gospel to be spread to them 00:35:14.58\00:35:22.27 and then they need to know about Jesus Christ. 00:35:22.30\00:35:25.54 It's very big, the work is very, very big 00:35:25.57\00:35:28.11 and without service here, we don't have enough, 00:35:28.14\00:35:32.10 enough manpower 00:35:32.13\00:35:33.88 and we need people outside to come and help us, 00:35:33.91\00:35:39.48 I believe by then we should all be ready 00:35:39.51\00:35:41.66 to meet the Lord Jesus when He comes. 00:35:41.69\00:35:44.62 So, despite all the obstacles, 00:35:44.65\00:35:47.93 despite all the mountains that are in the way, 00:35:47.96\00:35:52.11 there's a lot of good things happening, 00:35:52.14\00:35:53.67 there's a lot of enthusiasm. 00:35:53.70\00:35:55.41 And so, as we just press forward a day at a time, 00:35:55.44\00:35:59.01 and see how God continues to open doors, 00:35:59.04\00:36:01.38 how He's gonna send us the right help 00:36:01.41\00:36:03.03 at the right time. 00:36:03.06\00:36:04.33 But the harvest is ready, 00:36:04.36\00:36:06.49 we're just looking for a few reapers 00:36:06.52\00:36:07.91 that are willing to come 00:36:07.94\00:36:09.39 and serve the Lord in this part of the world. 00:36:09.42\00:36:11.45 As you can see, 00:36:48.31\00:36:49.40 New Guinea is place of mystery as well as a lot of mission 00:36:49.43\00:36:53.10 and what you just saw was very significant to Tony 00:36:53.13\00:36:57.16 and that he cooperated with the couple 00:36:57.19\00:36:59.62 and the ministry that was highlighted 00:36:59.65\00:37:02.69 so that they could participate in their pilot missionary work. 00:37:02.72\00:37:07.09 Tell us about that 00:37:07.12\00:37:08.15 because that plane wasn't waiting for them. 00:37:08.18\00:37:10.61 I want you to kind of, in a nutshell summarize 00:37:10.64\00:37:13.18 how that plane got there, actually? 00:37:13.21\00:37:14.93 Sure. 00:37:14.96\00:37:16.03 Well, the Lord worked in many different miracles 00:37:16.06\00:37:18.11 to have the airplane, they had to take to-- 00:37:18.14\00:37:19.69 disassemble the airplane in Arizona 00:37:19.72\00:37:21.75 put it in a container, it was shipped overseas, 00:37:21.78\00:37:25.17 a company donated the shipping cost 00:37:25.20\00:37:29.67 and so its like 15 to $20,000 fee they had to pay, 00:37:29.70\00:37:32.20 but the closet thing they can get to is the Guam. 00:37:32.23\00:37:33.95 So we had to get the airplane from Guam to Papua New Guinea. 00:37:33.98\00:37:36.37 Guam is about 1,100 miles over the ocean 00:37:36.40\00:37:39.42 from Papua New Guinea. 00:37:39.45\00:37:41.29 So we had to reassemble it and fly it. 00:37:41.32\00:37:42.99 Our friends, the Lewis, Gary said would be interested 00:37:43.02\00:37:46.44 in flying the airplane over for me? 00:37:46.47\00:37:48.27 And I thought that's a great adventure 00:37:48.30\00:37:50.52 but Darah was not so excited about it. 00:37:50.55\00:37:53.89 And we had just a series of miracles 00:37:53.92\00:37:55.90 that the Lord provided 00:37:55.93\00:37:57.01 so that we could actually help them bring the airplane over. 00:37:57.04\00:38:00.05 Darah, why weren't you excited about that? 00:38:00.08\00:38:02.85 Well, I'm not as knowledgeable in flying as Tony is obviously 00:38:02.88\00:38:07.44 but I do know enough to know that a single engine plane, 00:38:07.47\00:38:09.82 1,100 miles over the ocean and sharks and what not, 00:38:09.85\00:38:13.53 you know, as a wife it didn't sound, 00:38:13.56\00:38:16.81 it didn't sound as exciting to me 00:38:16.84\00:38:18.60 as it sounded to him so-- 00:38:18.63\00:38:19.93 Yeah, adventures to him but cautious to you. 00:38:19.96\00:38:21.40 Right. 00:38:21.43\00:38:22.52 And I had prayed, I had asked the Lord, 00:38:22.55\00:38:25.22 I said Lord, we can't do this 00:38:25.25\00:38:27.54 and because we were gonna 00:38:27.57\00:38:28.78 owe some money to be able to do this 00:38:28.81\00:38:30.98 and we prayed and we cleared 00:38:31.01\00:38:32.91 the Lord sent us the exact amount of money 00:38:32.94\00:38:34.72 that would have taken to do this. 00:38:34.75\00:38:36.06 So that's when I was on board. 00:38:36.09\00:38:37.88 And so now just give me a peek into this journey 00:38:37.91\00:38:41.49 because I know what a Cessna 182 is, 00:38:41.52\00:38:45.06 having flown in one that you know 00:38:45.09\00:38:47.43 that is quite a distance, when you think of well, 00:38:47.46\00:38:50.08 if I want to, if need to land, 00:38:50.11\00:38:52.87 let me see what's the depth of the ocean before, below me. 00:38:52.90\00:38:56.55 Right, it could only fly so far 00:38:56.58\00:38:58.22 but it did have enough fuel on board to take us 00:38:58.25\00:39:00.16 a pretty long distance. 00:39:00.19\00:39:01.23 It couldn't go straight across 00:39:01.26\00:39:02.59 the 1,100 miles straight journey 00:39:02.62\00:39:03.82 so we kind of had, kind of island hop, 00:39:03.85\00:39:06.27 we could actually do with just one landing. 00:39:06.30\00:39:08.48 And so we-- the first leg we flew 600 miles, 00:39:08.51\00:39:10.85 I say we the Lord and I, the Lord flew with me 00:39:10.88\00:39:14.52 and 600 miles the first day, 00:39:14.55\00:39:17.07 the next day was about 900 miles. 00:39:17.10\00:39:20.64 And you're here, here you are, 00:39:20.67\00:39:21.82 but now so they have their ministry 00:39:21.85\00:39:24.52 because of God opening the doors, 00:39:24.55\00:39:27.67 really and providing whatever you financially needed. 00:39:27.70\00:39:30.80 The skill that the Lord had 00:39:30.83\00:39:32.62 prepared you with was already in place, 00:39:32.65\00:39:34.44 but then it takes a lot of faith 00:39:34.47\00:39:35.50 to accept a mission like that. 00:39:35.53\00:39:36.94 It was. 00:39:36.97\00:39:38.00 It was a great faith building experience 00:39:38.03\00:39:39.68 because there were things after the first flight 00:39:39.71\00:39:41.68 things didn't work out very well. 00:39:41.71\00:39:43.03 The radio didn't work, the plane got diverted, 00:39:43.06\00:39:45.47 at the island I was landing at causing the president 00:39:45.50\00:39:47.93 of the island to be delayed three hours or so. 00:39:47.96\00:39:49.84 There's a hundreds of people at the airport waiting there 00:39:49.87\00:39:51.31 and I when got there, it's a small island. 00:39:51.34\00:39:53.22 They said, you know what happened? 00:39:53.25\00:39:54.31 I said no. 00:39:54.34\00:39:55.40 They said, you made the airplane with the president 00:39:55.43\00:39:56.46 turn around because they couldn't 00:39:56.49\00:39:57.52 get a hold of you on the radio. 00:39:57.55\00:39:59.10 And I was thinking oh, no, you know, I'm done. 00:39:59.13\00:40:01.43 They are gonna violate me 00:40:01.46\00:40:02.53 for this breaking this rule and that rule. 00:40:02.56\00:40:03.81 How are we gonna fly the airplane tomorrow? 00:40:03.84\00:40:05.71 The next day the airplane was going slower, 00:40:05.74\00:40:07.97 the next day came about 00:40:08.00\00:40:09.07 it was, it was-- 00:40:09.10\00:40:10.34 when I woke it was thunder storm and raining 00:40:10.37\00:40:11.88 it's not where you want me to go flying. 00:40:11.91\00:40:13.93 And I called Darah, told her all the problems. 00:40:13.96\00:40:15.70 She said you know, just like when the Israelites, 00:40:15.73\00:40:18.32 when they got to the river Jordan 00:40:18.35\00:40:19.74 they had to step into the water for God to do something. 00:40:19.77\00:40:22.84 And so, I was so, so thankful for her encouragement 00:40:22.87\00:40:25.84 because I was a little discouraged, 00:40:25.87\00:40:28.44 and here kind of in the middle of the Pacific, you know, 00:40:28.47\00:40:31.53 and God was taking care of me the whole way 00:40:31.56\00:40:33.65 and that day He through a series of one event 00:40:33.68\00:40:36.88 after the other, just kept leading step by step 00:40:36.91\00:40:40.16 as I took off the radio worked the whole day, 00:40:40.19\00:40:42.62 the air speed that-- the tail wind that I needed 00:40:42.65\00:40:45.91 to get to my destination on time, 00:40:45.94\00:40:47.99 there was a long flight 00:40:48.02\00:40:49.09 and there was no really alternates 00:40:49.12\00:40:52.94 once you got close enough to that spot you know, 00:40:52.97\00:40:55.76 you had to make sure that 00:40:55.79\00:40:57.87 as you got closer to once you pass to last alternate-- 00:40:57.90\00:41:00.56 Point of no return.. 00:41:00.59\00:41:01.62 Yeah, you are kind of going to where you going 00:41:01.65\00:41:04.09 but, you know, 00:41:04.12\00:41:05.21 we were doing everything as cautiously as we could. 00:41:05.24\00:41:07.09 we had all the safety gear and a back up GPS, 00:41:07.12\00:41:10.51 the weather was fantastic. 00:41:10.54\00:41:11.97 Man, when I have left Guam, 00:41:12.00\00:41:13.05 I have never seen the weather over Pacific look this good. 00:41:13.08\00:41:15.06 So evidently God was looking at everything. 00:41:15.09\00:41:16.62 Wow. 00:41:16.65\00:41:17.68 And that second day as I took off 00:41:17.71\00:41:19.00 the air speed built up, the radio worked just fine, 00:41:19.03\00:41:21.92 the weather was good the whole way, 00:41:21.95\00:41:23.91 I made it to our destination about an hour before sunset. 00:41:23.94\00:41:27.15 Praise the Lord. 00:41:27.18\00:41:28.25 And just on, just on time 00:41:28.28\00:41:29.94 and it was such a wonderful feeling. 00:41:29.97\00:41:31.79 We worked on that for about two months, 00:41:31.83\00:41:33.61 you know, like Lord, how is this gonna work out. 00:41:33.64\00:41:35.45 How are you-- I don't, I've never done this, 00:41:35.48\00:41:37.74 yeah, I fly airplanes over here, 00:41:37.77\00:41:39.30 but its totally different. 00:41:39.33\00:41:40.51 You know, a lot of people do all kinds of things for me. 00:41:40.54\00:41:43.29 And the Lord was saying to you, 00:41:43.32\00:41:44.40 I'll part the water when you get to it, 00:41:44.43\00:41:45.72 I'm not gonna do before that time. 00:41:45.75\00:41:47.14 Exactly, exactly. 00:41:47.17\00:41:48.27 So now take us to the transitioning point 00:41:48.30\00:41:50.18 and give us some insight into where you're headed now. 00:41:50.21\00:41:52.53 We talked about, lightly, 00:41:52.56\00:41:54.71 you've been to New Guinea to scout it out, one time. 00:41:54.74\00:41:58.59 Tell us what we could, what we need to pray about 00:41:58.62\00:42:02.01 and what we need to partner with you on as you prepare 00:42:02.04\00:42:04.71 for this new beginning. 00:42:04.74\00:42:07.43 Well, we certainly appreciate the prayers for us 00:42:07.46\00:42:11.12 but we, our friend the Lewis's, they are looking for support. 00:42:11.15\00:42:17.90 Anybody that's interested in mission 00:42:17.93\00:42:20.06 or would like to help spread the gospel 00:42:20.09\00:42:21.93 in that part of the world, 00:42:21.96\00:42:23.87 they are looking for others to come out there to partner 00:42:23.90\00:42:26.56 with them to work. 00:42:26.59\00:42:27.66 If you have any type of skill or no skill at all, 00:42:27.69\00:42:30.51 just to willingness that you want to serve a God 00:42:30.54\00:42:32.90 and that then that something about this touches your heart. 00:42:32.93\00:42:36.91 They are specifically they are in need of another pilot 00:42:36.94\00:42:39.42 and a mechanic, an aircraft mechanic to work 00:42:39.45\00:42:42.34 where there are at. 00:42:42.37\00:42:43.40 Okay, and so now when you go to New Guinea which, 00:42:43.43\00:42:47.66 which organization are you gonna be working with? 00:42:47.69\00:42:50.46 Well, we are going to work with Adventist Aviation Services, 00:42:50.49\00:42:54.30 it's a different organization than the Lewis have. 00:42:54.33\00:42:59.79 It is a mission that works in a slightly 00:42:59.82\00:43:02.26 lower part of the country, different part of the country, 00:43:02.29\00:43:04.16 doesn't quite reach up 00:43:04.19\00:43:05.24 as far as where there are at all the time 00:43:05.27\00:43:07.85 and, but it's a very establish mission. 00:43:07.88\00:43:09.62 Its been there for about 50 years 00:43:09.65\00:43:11.64 and I will be-- 00:43:11.67\00:43:13.24 they have two aircrafts right now 00:43:13.27\00:43:15.04 and I will be there as one of their pilots 00:43:15.07\00:43:18.22 learning to fly in that environment 00:43:18.25\00:43:20.33 and using the airplane 00:43:20.36\00:43:21.39 to drop off supplies and commodities 00:43:21.42\00:43:23.98 for all the villages that don't have roadways. 00:43:24.01\00:43:25.85 Most of the villages in the mountains 00:43:25.88\00:43:27.12 don't have roadways. 00:43:27.15\00:43:28.54 So the only way to get things in and out, 00:43:28.57\00:43:30.70 medivacing individuals that need medical attention 00:43:30.73\00:43:34.55 if they don't get to the hospital soon enough, 00:43:34.59\00:43:35.94 there is there is no way get him their quick enough. 00:43:35.97\00:43:37.65 So the airplane is useful for that 00:43:37.68\00:43:39.60 and specially doing church work. 00:43:39.63\00:43:40.98 You know, flying pastors, 00:43:41.01\00:43:44.23 other missionaries to their locations, 00:43:44.26\00:43:46.72 Bible workers, 00:43:46.75\00:43:49.14 so these are just a few of the things 00:43:49.17\00:43:50.69 that I will be able to do on there. 00:43:50.72\00:43:53.25 Now, Darah, how are you helping to contribute to this mission 00:43:53.28\00:43:56.18 because I know you are not a pilot 00:43:56.21\00:43:57.77 but he surely is your husband, are you planning 00:43:57.80\00:44:00.32 on some of the mission trips with him? 00:44:00.35\00:44:03.45 Well, you know, because I have an adventurous spirit, 00:44:03.48\00:44:06.19 that would be nice 00:44:06.22\00:44:08.21 but truly, the Lord's working on my heart to realize 00:44:08.24\00:44:09.35 that the role I have in life is important and young women, 00:44:09.38\00:44:13.27 it's sometimes hard for us to take the backseat 00:44:13.30\00:44:15.59 and it's not a backseat, it's huge. 00:44:15.62\00:44:17.52 I'm a mother, I home school, 00:44:17.55\00:44:19.47 I make sure everything is gonna be functioning 00:44:19.50\00:44:22.06 and we're just excited to go 00:44:22.09\00:44:24.00 and just make friends for Jesus, 00:44:24.03\00:44:25.80 to go and meet people 00:44:25.92\00:44:28.24 that we can just share what little we do know, 00:44:28.27\00:44:30.80 right from our home there. 00:44:30.83\00:44:31.88 So that's that is the mission that God is given me 00:44:31.91\00:44:34.38 wherever I'm at. 00:44:34.41\00:44:35.68 And you know, sometimes the Lord has, 00:44:35.71\00:44:37.08 He has done here for my wife 00:44:37.11\00:44:38.56 when we first came to 3ABN but she is doing 00:44:38.59\00:44:41.28 now, she had no clue that she'd ever be participating in that. 00:44:41.31\00:44:43.82 And so as is the case of the Lord opening the waters, 00:44:43.85\00:44:46.42 parting the waters, 00:44:46.45\00:44:47.53 He'll do that for you too when you get to New Guinea 00:44:47.56\00:44:50.06 and you'll say God always saw that 00:44:50.09\00:44:52.28 this is what I would be involved in. 00:44:52.31\00:44:53.89 And Jackson, I tell you, 00:44:53.92\00:44:54.95 he's gonna be one of those young, 00:44:54.98\00:44:56.04 adventurous young man in New Guinea 00:44:56.07\00:44:58.29 and he's gonna grow up with a lot mission stories. 00:44:58.32\00:45:00.59 God is gonna surely develop his life there. 00:45:00.62\00:45:03.06 But I know that those of you who are watching the program 00:45:03.09\00:45:04.95 are probably saying, well, now how could we participate. 00:46:15.09\00:46:17.05 long before the vision comes to fruition. 00:46:17.08\00:46:20.02 The Lord sees and understands what He's qualifying us for. 00:46:20.05\00:46:23.29 Now Tony and Darah, 00:46:23.32\00:46:25.31 they are those watching and listing to the program, 00:46:25.34\00:46:27.36 some on television, some on radio, 00:46:27.39\00:46:29.30 what challenge would you leave to those 00:46:36.26\00:46:40.65 and to trust the Lord, 00:46:40.68\00:46:41.71 I would challenge each person 00:46:41.74\00:46:43.23 to trust the Lord with all your heart. 00:46:43.26\00:46:45.36 You know, as in the Proverbs trust, 00:46:45.39\00:46:47.85 "Trust the Lord thy your heart, 00:46:47.88\00:46:48.95 lean not unto thy own understanding, 00:46:48.98\00:46:50.23 acknowledge him on all thy ways and He will direct the paths. 00:46:50.26\00:46:54.08 " God's been so faithful, 00:46:54.11\00:46:55.23 I have seen His faithfulness in always help me in my life 00:46:55.26\00:46:59.67 and I would challenge each person to follow 00:46:59.70\00:47:01.58 Jesus all the way. 00:47:01.61\00:47:03.68 And He's partnering with us 00:47:03.71\00:47:06.09 and He gives us those things that we need, 00:47:06.12\00:47:08.65 on each day, day by day basis. 00:47:08.68\00:47:10.97 That's right and the Lord is given you a wonderful wife, 00:47:11.00\00:47:14.22 God has given you wonderful husband 00:47:22.35\00:47:25.00 He will direct your paths 00:47:25.03\00:47:27.15 and they are many paths in your future 00:47:27.18\00:47:28.86 surely in the country of New Guinea. 00:47:28.89\00:47:30.89 Just a bit of news, when I come back in few moments 00:47:30.92\00:47:33.80 after this news break, but once again, 00:47:33.83\00:47:36.29 Steve Darmody and his daughter Jaclyn Pruehs 00:47:36.32\00:47:38.47 is gonna sing a song for us entitled "Time" enjoy it. 00:47:38.50\00:47:42.51 If all the world's a stage 00:48:09.99\00:48:17.31 And life is but a page 00:48:17.34\00:48:24.24 How do we make it last 00:48:24.27\00:48:31.24 The moments fly so fast 00:48:31.27\00:48:37.70 It's not for us to know 00:48:37.73\00:48:44.75 How long until we go 00:48:44.78\00:48:51.62 But while here on this earth 00:48:51.65\00:48:57.99 We must learn what time is worth 00:48:58.02\00:49:03.53 Time is too slow for those who wait 00:49:06.29\00:49:13.17 Time is to swift for those who fear 00:49:13.20\00:49:18.81 Time is too long for those who grieve 00:49:20.19\00:49:26.04 But for those who love and those who are loved 00:49:30.56\00:49:36.74 Time is eternity 00:49:36.77\00:49:40.15 Those who are loved like He loves me 00:49:45.60\00:49:51.24 And so the story goes 00:49:55.44\00:50:02.48 A tale of joy and woe 00:50:02.51\00:50:09.39 It's up to us to find 00:50:09.42\00:50:16.13 The reason and the rhyme 00:50:16.16\00:50:23.65 Time is too slow for those who wait 00:50:23.68\00:50:30.57 Time is to swift for those who fear 00:50:30.60\00:50:37.54 Time is too long for those who grieve 00:50:37.57\00:50:44.52 But for those who love 00:50:48.05\00:50:50.83 Those who are loved 00:50:50.86\00:50:55.96 Time is on our side 00:50:55.99\00:50:57.92 Time is on our side 00:50:57.95\00:50:59.31 Like the ocean wide 00:50:59.34\00:51:01.07 Like the ocean wide 00:51:01.10\00:51:03.02 A never ending wave upon our shore 00:51:03.06\00:51:09.32 And where our heart begin 00:51:09.35\00:51:11.11 And where our heart begin 00:51:11.14\00:51:12.61 And when our lives will end 00:51:12.64\00:51:14.42 When our lives will end 00:51:14.45\00:51:16.70 It doesn't really matter anymore 00:51:16.73\00:51:20.61 Time is too long for those who grieve 00:51:31.98\00:51:37.47 But for those who love 00:51:43.59\00:51:46.31 And those who are loved 00:51:46.34\00:51:50.79 Time is eternity 00:51:50.82\00:51:54.42 Those who are loved like you and me 00:52:00.91\00:52:07.78
