01:07 Welcome to our 3 ABN cooking program.
01:10 We're the Micheff Sisters.
01:12 I'm Linda. I'm Brenda.
01:14 And I'm Cinda.
01:16 And we're so excited that you joined us today.
01:19 We've got a really special program not just--
01:21 We have a gift for you. That's right.
01:23 It's a gift for you, a special gift program.
01:26 In fact, your friends are gonna enjoy this
01:28 too at least the recipients.
01:29 Do you know what I also love about this program
01:32 is we learned all of this from mom?
01:36 That's right.
01:38 Because when mom came and gave a gift
01:40 we couldn't afford to go out
01:43 and just buy gifts for everybody.
01:45 But mom would bring us into the kitchen and would say,
01:49 you know what we're gonna make something
01:51 for our neighbor or someone that was sick in church or--
01:55 Let's tell them what the name of this program is.
01:59 Gifts from your kitchen. That's right.
02:01 In fact all the recipes that we're going to do today
02:04 are all things that you can actually wrap up
02:07 and we're gonna show you how you can do that
02:09 and give away to someone you care about.
02:11 And gifts from the kitchen are special
02:13 because they come from your heart.
02:18 And really truly it's-- when you give someone
02:22 something it says, I care about you.
02:24 I-- you know, I think you are special,
02:25 you mean something to me.
02:26 That's right.
02:27 And sometimes you know there's people
02:29 that maybe are setting alone in your church
02:31 that you've never even got to know.
02:32 Maybe they come in and they're in a on a pew
02:35 all by themselves every week and the Holy Spirit
02:37 is impressing you know what, I need to reach out
02:38 to that person.
02:39 And why you just bake him a little load of bread
02:41 or something the next time.
02:42 You know, I just was thinking about you this week
02:44 and I wanted to share this with you.
02:45 Wow, you're just gonna light up their life.
02:47 Also when you give a gift to someone
02:50 that is from your kitchen, you know they have been
02:54 thinking about you in planning.
02:55 That's right. You know, they're thinking.
02:57 You know, I want to do something special so--
02:59 That's right. It really makes it special.
03:03 So why don't we take a look at the different gifts
03:06 that we have from the kitchen.
03:08 We will start out with the Crunchy Date Granola.
03:11 Oh, now that is wonderful,
03:13 for anybody is gonna love that gift
03:15 and then we have a Cinnamon Roll Cake.
03:19 Now, that is beautiful and delicious.
03:23 And then we have Apple Streusel in a Jar.
03:28 I think that's very creative, isn't it? Yes, very.
03:31 And we're gonna close off with a Mini Citrus Bread.
03:34 That's right. And so I'm really excited.
03:37 So, sis, you have the first recipe.
03:39 Here is your granola. Absolutely.
03:41 And what do we need for this?
03:43 Well, the first thing you need is kitchen gloves.
03:46 Kitchen gloves.
03:48 And if you don't have kitchen gloves.
03:50 Just wash your hands. You wash your hands.
03:52 But you know what I think the first thing they need.
03:54 Is to read the recipe. All right.
03:57 Well, while I'm putting on my gloves, Sis Cinda,
04:01 why don't you read it.
04:02 I'd be happy too...
04:33 All right.
04:34 This is one of those fun fast and easy recipes.
04:38 Granola is something too that you can get have to be
04:40 so creative with.
04:41 You can use so many different types
04:43 of ingredients with.
04:44 I've-- I love granola and I love the different.
04:46 And I keep Twinkie bars in our freezer
04:49 and then I don't keep for, you know, three,
04:52 four months in the freezer.
04:54 And this is 16 cups and you might think that's a lot.
04:57 It's one gallon but it goes fast
04:59 and if you're making gifts,
05:01 you want to make at least that much.
05:02 So we're gonna do the pecans, I'm gonna put a sprinkle salt.
05:07 If you don't want the salting, you don't need to.
05:09 Put the almonds. And we put the almonds in.
05:11 Okay.
05:12 And I'm going to, I have craisins here,
05:17 but I'm going to put those in after it's baked.
05:20 Now you can put it in when it's baked
05:22 and I do that it will be crunchier.
05:24 But to keep the color and keep 'em like this I'm gonna--
05:26 I like 'em when they're not baked
05:28 because I like the flavor of 'em better
05:30 and the sweetness.
05:31 When they get hard and in the oven
05:33 and they don't taste sweet.
05:35 What about you? You've eaten--
05:38 She's already eaten the finished product.
05:41 All right, sis, if you could mix the oil and water
05:44 and the vanilla together.
05:46 This is really good. And if you need-- Okay.
05:49 I think you're gonna either need a smaller bowl
05:51 or that bowl over there which ever one.
05:52 Okay. All right.
05:54 Then I'm gonna go head and put the dates in.
05:56 I like dates.
05:58 And I have a little bit of sweetener.
06:03 I use different kinds of sweetener
06:05 but we'll use the Florida crystals
06:07 and that goes in there too.
06:08 So that's why I thought you might need to have
06:10 a different bowl.
06:11 Yeah. There's a bigger bowl right there.
06:13 You know-- I think you are right.
06:14 Granola is great to just munch on anytime you want.
06:20 I think I want to right now.
06:23 And I make it-- I think it's great.
06:25 I'm making her hungry and I'm gonna show you--
06:26 You're doing such a good job.
06:27 I'm gonna show you how to make the hunks.
06:29 But I make 'em so where its--
06:32 It has little clusters like that,
06:34 they'll-- it's easy to eat.
06:38 So did you say, you're gonna show how to make the--
06:40 actually not a term that-- that's our family term.
06:45 Okay, I'm gonna show you how to make clunks, okay.
06:48 Yeah, the clusters, all many clusters.
06:50 And I would be happy, more than happy to show you
06:55 how to eat the clumps.
06:57 All right. Just like that.
07:01 Well, she's got an important job over here
07:03 as she's doing quality control.
07:06 Yeah, there you go. She gives a quality control.
07:07 Somebody has to do it. That's right.
07:10 Okay, and we're gonna put our vanilla in here.
07:12 Okay. All right.
07:15 Now I want you to slowly pour that in here while I stir it.
07:19 Now how much do I have
07:21 to incorporate the oil into this?
07:23 That's good. That's good right there.
07:24 All right. Okay, start pouring it.
07:27 You two are doing a fine job. Okay.
07:30 Fine. So let me add just a little bit.
07:31 Okay. A little bit over here. I think--
07:36 Ooh, this is fun. Yeah, we're down a little bit.
07:39 I know, I got to do clean up control.
07:43 Well, okay. There you go.
07:49 I did my job. All right.
07:52 You see that momma, down to the last drop.
07:55 Fine job you did there, sister. All right.
07:58 So you're gonna get all mixed together.
08:01 It just works so much better with the hands.
08:06 Yeah, just mixing it up, you're gonna have
08:08 a much more difficult time finding the clusters, right?
08:11 So now when I put it on the tray,
08:13 don't spray your oil on your tray at all.
08:16 I'll put it on like this and you're gonna actually
08:19 squeeze it.
08:21 And that's what makes the little clusters
08:23 as you're gonna squeeze it, see how it makes it.
08:26 Put some more here. I'm watching.
08:30 She's still doing quality control.
08:31 I'm watching, I'm learning.
08:34 And you're gonna bake this depending on your oven
08:37 I do 275 at home but you can do 250,
08:43 if you're gonna put it in the night before
08:46 and let it bake all right.
08:47 Then bake it like at a 175 or 150 degrees
08:52 and then it's all done in the morning.
08:54 That's the way I like to do it.
08:55 Just put it in a low temp oven,
08:57 put it in the morning
08:59 it's wonderful ready for breakfast.
09:00 Let's see, there I've made the hunks.
09:01 Dream about it all night.
09:03 And to see, to get the consistency
09:05 we have some pre to see right here
09:07 and I'll show you real quick--
09:08 Oh, yeah, we have some right here for you to see.
09:12 Right before I do quality control.
09:17 You know, I think we should
09:19 just roll right on with the show.
09:21 Well, I do.
09:23 So, that Linda, I want to show you,
09:24 how you are going to.
09:25 You've got-- Linda's got some granola right in here.
09:27 Just, just decorating our set right now
09:29 but there's actually some granola in there.
09:31 And this is what I did is I put it in a bag.
09:34 Sorry, sis-- What?
09:36 Seriously. This is the done stuff.
09:40 So we put it in the bag.
09:46 All right. Cinda's gonna sneaks to what falls.
09:49 Hey. We'll leave that for her.
09:52 All right, you want to hand me that.
09:55 And you can use any kind of paper that you want.
09:58 But I have some like little rainbows
10:02 the rain--stuff that you can get
10:04 in Dollar store or whatever.
10:06 All right, I guess I'll help. Okay.
10:08 Tie that up. Hey, you are helping.
10:10 I tried I was.
10:11 Quality control isn't boring here,
10:12 I think she' done a good job.
10:14 You need to cut this, it's perfect.
10:17 And all you're gonna do is cut a little bit of this
10:20 just to make it a little bit...
10:22 Shorter. Shorter.
10:28 Okay. All right. Beautiful.
10:31 And you got your-- And delicious. And nutritious.
10:36 All right and you have a nice gift to give to someone.
10:39 And you can also get all kinds of containers.
10:41 You can get a quote jar,
10:43 you can get a little gift boxes.
10:45 You know, where the lid comes off and you got your--
10:47 This is just one way.
10:48 Yeah, so you know there are so many different ways
10:50 that you can get it.
10:51 Be creative and come up with something your own ideas.
10:52 Sometimes I just put it in one of the bag like this.
10:55 That's right.
10:56 Just put it in there and put a little note,
10:58 tell them how much they--
10:59 And I put the recipe with it. That's a good idea.
11:01 I like to say Jesus loves you and I do too
11:04 and it's a wonderful way just to share God's love.
11:08 Another recipe--
11:09 I speak to have let's get the show on the road,
11:12 just roll in, let just keep it rolling.
11:15 Brenda has a Cinnamon Roll for us
11:17 that you are going to love it.
11:19 It's called the Cinnamon Roll Cake.
11:22 It's actually Cinnamon Roll Cake.
11:23 Have you ever heard of that?
11:24 Let me read the recipe. For this you will need...
12:06 I love Cinnamon Rolls. Oh, I do too.
12:10 In fact our mom really, she raised us when we were
12:13 really tiny little to start making our own bread
12:15 because mom always made bread every week.
12:17 We always made extra to give to our neighbors.
12:19 And we were-- she was creative and taught us
12:21 creative ways to how to wrap it and--
12:24 She'd let us do our bows in, I can remember one time
12:26 I put stickers all over it.
12:29 She did cinnamon rolls too for us.
12:33 But I remember she would give each one of us
12:35 our own little dough.
12:37 That's right.
12:38 And she would say okay, here's yours and here's yours
12:41 and then she would let us
12:43 roll it out any shape we wanted--
12:45 That's right. Any kind we want it.
12:47 We can put cinnamon sugar on it.
12:49 We can put nuts, we could anything we want to
12:51 and we could-- we could cut it--
12:53 She was very careful when it went into the oven
12:57 that she didn't get it mixed up, so we had,
12:59 we actually had the one that we made.
13:01 Oh, yeah, we all knew which one we made it.
13:03 Well, actually because we would all mixed up
13:06 so different, it would be so unique that yes,
13:10 because we would shape them in all kinds of ways.
13:15 It was fun and then we also had the joy of being able to go
13:19 and actually present our gift of love
13:21 to our neighbors.
13:22 We'd knock on the door and let him know how much Jesus
13:24 loved them and give him em
13:25 that sometimes we'd said that.
13:26 In fact many times we would stand and sing for him.
13:29 Yeah, we'd sing for him.
13:31 And I did like the time when we lived in a house
13:33 that was on the street corner where there is a bus stop.
13:35 And sometimes we would go and we would, you know,
13:38 stand by the bus stop and sing for people
13:40 when they get out and pass out literature.
13:43 But you know with something.
13:44 And sometimes we give them some of our bread.
13:47 Something that all of us
13:49 can say is the joy is in the giving.
13:53 Exactly.
13:54 I mean, if you can't, if you've never experienced
13:58 this, give someone something because honestly
14:02 you get the better feeling.
14:05 You get the greater blessing, you do.
14:07 But there's this feeling that is like wow, you know.
14:10 It really is.
14:11 And God created that in us because He wants us to think
14:14 of other people.
14:16 You know, He wants us not to live to ourselves
14:18 but to always be thinking of the other person.
14:21 Him first and when we think of Him first,
14:23 we naturally are going to think of other people first.
14:26 But you know--You know what? And ourselves last.
14:29 And there aren't going to be any selfish people in heaven.
14:31 That's true. So I mean I don't want to be selfish.
14:33 That must be how He tries to get the selfishness out of us.
14:37 Just make lots of cinnamons and bread and granola
14:40 and all the stuff and start giving it away
14:43 and not thinking to self.
14:44 When mom taught us how to make bread,
14:46 she made it-- had a recipe that made
14:47 seven to eight loafs at a time.
14:49 And this it takes a lot of oomph
14:52 in their kneading that and so I think--
14:54 you think that's a live work.
14:55 This is a smaller recipe, so it makes one cake.
14:58 And so if you want more, you got to actually double it.
15:01 So I'm gonna start with my flour right here
15:04 and if you want to use white whole wheat flour,
15:07 you can do that as well.
15:09 And then you are going to just mix your sugar,
15:12 your salt and your yeast.
15:15 And you are going to do that.
15:17 I'm bringing-- Yeah.
15:18 You are, Linda.
15:20 While she's doing that, you can mix this up.
15:22 Cinda, you are going to take-- now I've taken the almond milk
15:25 and you can use soy milk if you're allergic
15:28 to nuts and almonds, you can use soy milk.
15:30 And mix that with your margarine in here
15:33 and a little bit of water and it's been heated up.
15:35 This is hot, this has been warmed,
15:36 so it's warm to the touch.
15:38 So you're gonna mix that really good
15:39 while I'm getting my gloves on, okay,
15:42 because we love our kitchen gloves.
15:45 And keep everything nice and sanitary here so--
15:48 'Cause really if you get your liquid too hot
15:50 then what happens that kills your yeast.
15:52 Kills your yeast.
15:53 We don't want to kill nothing, no,
15:54 not even our yeast so.
15:56 All right. So we have that here and--
15:59 Oh, there's nothing that we cook
16:00 with that needs to be killed.
16:02 That's right. Oh, wait a minute yes, there is.
16:04 What? Onions. Onions.
16:09 Oh, there is no onions in the sweet rolls, okay.
16:12 Yeah, we're not really fond of uncooked onions.
16:15 Okay, here we go.
16:17 So now this is gonna go in here and just I uses spatula
16:21 just until I get liquid absorbed here by the flour.
16:25 And I've kept out a half a cup of flour here
16:28 just for kneading purposes and I'll try not to get
16:31 any on me or any of my sisters right here.
16:35 If she does, I'll tell you. Yes.
16:38 I'm notoriously of not having a big enough bowl
16:41 but today's bowl is big enough
16:44 so I should have kept the camera just in case.
16:47 Yes. I got to tell you something.
16:50 Oh, you are not going to tell, You don't want to know.
16:54 Now let's just look I'm--
16:55 I'm kneading the dough right here, see this.
16:58 And so now, I'm just going through absorbing it
17:04 and there's flour underneath.
17:05 And this is the real trick I do have to show you this.
17:10 Your trick in kneading. Here's what you're gonna do.
17:13 You are going pick up this side of the dough
17:17 and you're gonna bring it towards you
17:19 and push with your palm forwards.
17:21 Turn it and push, turn it and push.
17:25 Turn, push, so what you're doing
17:27 is just stretching this dough here when you do that
17:30 and it really that's what you call kneading the dough.
17:33 And it makes it soft.
17:34 When it gets a little bit sticky,
17:35 you just take a tiny bit of flour not much,
17:38 and put underneath there, you see.
17:40 And then you push, forward and towards you.
17:43 So pull towards you, so it's pull and push.
17:46 Pull, push, pull, push, just like that.
17:48 So we're gonna knead just like that.
17:51 Pull, push, pull, push.
17:53 And it doesn't really take that much to do.
17:58 So a little bit of flour around and you didn't want
18:03 to hear Cinda's story anyway
18:04 'cause it's very embarrassing for me, okay so...
18:07 I-- You just knead away--
18:09 Push and pull. Push and pull.
18:10 I'm just pushing and pull.
18:11 I had-- I had a dinner party-- Here it comes.
18:15 The other night and I had all,
18:18 everybody seated outside by the pool and then the kids,
18:23 her grandsons and then some of the guest had kids
18:26 and they want to get in the pool.
18:27 Well, they were kind of bored and they didn't really
18:30 know each other and so I thought well,
18:31 I'm gonna do, I'll play a game.
18:33 She's gonna always liven up the party.
18:35 You're just going to say that. I said, I'm gonna play a game.
18:38 I said okay, I did the whole relay race thing
18:41 and you know and everything I said, oh, you know what,
18:44 I'm gonna take a couple handfuls of coins
18:47 and I went and rob the coin jar.
18:49 And I'm gonna throw them in the pool--
18:51 Mostly quarters and I said you guys
18:54 get to keep whatever you dive for and find.
18:58 So they started-- I threw 'em in
19:01 and they started diving in and you know,
19:04 going in the water trying to find their coins.
19:06 Well, Brenda comes over next to me
19:08 and she decides to try and help her grandson.
19:11 Well, because they would have this--
19:12 I could see some coins in there and they couldn't find them.
19:14 Jason kept going down and he go down the bottom,
19:16 he come up and he's was discouraging,
19:18 he said grandma there's no more down there.
19:20 I said, yes, there is I can see it.
19:22 I said, Michael, Jason go out there,
19:24 there's lots of money down here hurry.
19:25 She's standing right next to me and she goes like this.
19:30 Look, look, there's one right there--
19:36 and I knew she was going in.
19:37 she was al ready going like this.
19:40 And I took off running the other way.
19:44 So she falls-- Yes, she did.
19:46 Close in everywhere in the pool.
19:47 But everybody thought that I had pushed her in
19:51 because I went running.
19:52 Oh, except her daughter, her daughter says,
19:56 I know where Aunty Cinda went because I ran outside
20:01 from inside and I had my camera.
20:04 I have pictures folks. Yes, she does.
20:06 She has the most incredible blackmail material on me.
20:10 Here's Brenda in the pool-- Looked like a drown rat--
20:14 Nice outfit by the way.
20:16 I think the boys really enjoyed that.
20:19 Hey, I was a good sport. They got the coin.
20:22 I threw my shoes out of the pool and I said, yeah,
20:24 they are soak and wet.
20:25 Well, she says I might as well help you find the coins.
20:28 Well, I did, I dove to the bottom.
20:31 You were a really good sport but I got pictures.
20:34 Oh, man.
20:36 It was so funny because everybody thought
20:37 I'd pushed you in.
20:39 I know. Except Becky. Yeah, my oldest daughter.
20:42 'Cause I immediately were running like--
20:44 I saw her airborne.
20:45 You got to know if Cinda runs for the camera.
20:47 Yeah, yeah.
20:50 She was always to save a memory.
20:54 She also saved me to 'cause there is somebody out
20:55 that have us clicking pictures
20:57 that were gonna posted to Facebook.
20:58 Yeah, I protected her. And she did a sister thing.
21:00 She said uh-uh you're not posting that so...
21:02 Yeah. So I was thankful. I said, I told this--
21:07 All right, meanwhile--
21:08 This sick poor person and I said,
21:11 you're putting that on Facebook I'm taking you out.
21:16 Okay, since this is television we don't have time
21:19 to completely kneading all that.
21:20 You're gonna knead that for 10 minutes.
21:21 Okay, so after that's kneaded,
21:24 you are ready to this point--
21:25 Do you let it raise or anything?
21:27 You're gonna let it-- you raise and it doubles in size
21:30 and then you just well poke it down like this.
21:33 You can tell the difference. Yes, see the difference.
21:35 You're gonna poke it down in size
21:36 and then you're going to let it rise one more time.
21:39 Okay, so you can put that over there.
21:43 Linda, would you put a little nonstick cooking
21:45 spray right here for me and that just keeps it from
21:48 sticking to the table.
21:49 Okay, good and then I'm going to just stretch this.
21:52 Now this I made in had put in refrigerator
21:55 which I did the night before.
21:56 So you can do that as well, I put that so--
21:58 it's gonna be, I told my assistant Melissa
22:02 when she was putting everything out here
22:03 I thought I didn't need a rolling pin but of course
22:05 I wasn't counting on this dough being--
22:07 Well, it keeps the yeast from working.
22:08 Yeah, so maybe we should go get that rolling pin.
22:11 Linda, real quick, I think she has that over there.
22:13 All right, I'll be right back.
22:15 Because normally you just stretch the dough
22:17 but because I put it in refrigerator
22:20 it's a little less pliable.
22:23 So in that case you're just gonna
22:25 use the rolling pin and remember this is
22:29 a little bit different dough than a bread dough.
22:32 It's not your typical bread dough even though
22:34 there's yeast in it.
22:35 It's not your typical bread dough.
22:37 So I'm just gonna-- A little bit softer.
22:40 It's a cakeier you know, so you'll be,
22:43 so you'll be-- really surprised I think when you taste it,
22:47 it's got a little more cakeier texture
22:49 even though it's got yeast in it.
22:51 So it's not, if you're expecting
22:53 bread dough or your typical cinnamon roll,
22:55 it's different that's why I call it
22:57 a cinnamon roll cake.
22:59 Okay, so here's what you're gonna do,
23:02 I'm gonna just when you-- if it comes apart like that,
23:04 yours won't if you make it right away.
23:05 If you make it ahead of time, put in refrigerator,
23:08 you're gonna have to do what I'm doing right here.
23:10 Okay, so now you're gonna put it
23:11 into your triangle right here.
23:14 And you're going to put some melted margarine over
23:17 the top and we're just-- and that helps,
23:20 that just helps your sugar stick to it, okay.
23:24 And I'm just gonna-- just do like that right here.
23:29 And then sis will you mix the cinnamon
23:31 and sugar together?
23:33 We won't need anymore of that flour...
23:38 and then and can you spray this pan?
23:41 I have a just a cake pan.
23:43 It said, I told a cinnamon roll cake,
23:45 we're using a cake pan and you just spray
23:47 that with some nonstick cooking spray and here we go.
23:51 We're just gonna spread this all around...
23:55 and just evenly all around your dough.
24:00 Okay and I just like to just go ahead
24:02 and mix it up like this with my gloves.
24:05 It smells good.
24:07 Oh, anytime you do cinnamon dough,
24:09 you just love the smell of cinnamon?
24:12 Oh, I do.
24:13 Okay, so get it to the edges 'cause you wanted all--
24:17 all over there and then you're going to cut it.
24:19 Now, I'm gonna be honest with you,
24:21 when I first did this first time,
24:23 I cut it long ways thinking I was gonna roll it up.
24:26 Well, it wasn't a good plan at all, folks,
24:29 'cause it really just kind of, you need the shorter stick.
24:32 So cut it down the middle, okay,
24:36 and I'm being careful here 'cause I'm on the surface,
24:38 so I don't want to cut the surface underneath.
24:40 I should have used the bread board and you're gonna want
24:43 to make about-- just about
24:46 an inch strips so just
24:50 straight down and then I still gonna do it on the end
24:55 here even though 'cause you want 'em all to be the same.
24:57 Now this, I'm gonna let Cinda make something else with that.
25:02 Oh, yeah.
25:03 Okay, and then make all of them the same size,
25:07 so that's important.
25:08 So it's about an inch strip and just like this.
25:12 You must know what that-- that something else is.
25:14 This-- yeah, she does, here's another roll piece
25:18 you can have, sis.
25:19 So now we've got nice straight edges
25:21 you see that and real nice straight
25:24 at just down here.
25:25 I'm gonna go in the middle and take this and lightly
25:28 roll it out.
25:30 You don't want to roll it up tight 'cause you need to
25:31 allow to have it raise and to be
25:34 nice and fluffy inside.
25:36 So I'm rolling up very loosely just like that
25:40 and you can usually do one more roll with it
25:42 like you get away with it like this.
25:47 And then very loosely and see like this now
25:53 I'm gonna put it in here.
25:55 Now, can you see that in there, I'm gonna put that.
25:57 Now, I'm just gonna take the next one.
26:01 And kind of little more and I'm gonna go
26:04 where I left off over here and I'm gonna just wrap,
26:07 keep wrapping it around.
26:08 Now you just keep 'em loose 'cause again we don't want to--
26:12 we want to give it room to raise.
26:14 So just lightly, just keep wrapping around like this.
26:18 And see how easy that is--
26:20 That is so easy. It's not hard to do it all.
26:23 And it's kind of a fun twist on your typical you know,
26:28 cinnamon roll.
26:30 Here you go and see how I'm just--
26:32 I'm not pushing them together at all.
26:34 I'm just gently laying them.
26:36 Gently laying in on top and the last one is right here
26:41 and then I'm going to put this in a warm place,
26:44 you can even have a-- warm up my oven to 200
26:47 and let it rise and so let it rise
26:52 and so it will fill this up when it rises...
26:56 the pan and you're gonna bake it
26:58 at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes
27:01 to 30 minutes depending on your oven.
27:03 My oven home was 30 minutes, the oven here at the test
27:06 kitchen was 25, so it depends.
27:09 So I would check it you know,
27:10 set up for 20 minutes look at it.
27:11 It should be nice and golden brown.
27:13 What about that one that she's doing?
27:15 Do you want to see what I did? Look.
27:18 Take a look at that. Isn't that cute?
27:23 So do you bake it?
27:24 I did a little tiny one and then look--
27:26 you can make little tiny ones 'cause look at this
27:28 when you bake it.
27:29 I did this one. That's already baked.
27:31 That's already baked look at that.
27:32 Isn't that beautiful? Ain't that cute?
27:34 And so you can, I'm gonna hold it up to the camera
27:37 like that, that you can see and hold that one up
27:39 so you can see how nice that is.
27:41 I also want to show you
27:42 while the camera is still doing that.
27:43 I'm gonna go like this so you can see
27:45 how nice that is, how that rolled up like that.
27:48 Now you're going to-- after that's baked
27:52 you can take it right out and put it on the plate.
27:54 Now the gift for this particular one is--
27:58 your part of your gift is your platter.
28:00 So get a nice cake platter,
28:02 this one you can get at yard sale,
28:04 you know for a dollar and it becomes
28:05 the part of your gift.
28:07 So that you can put your cinnamon roll cake on it
28:10 and you can decorate it different ways.
28:12 You would be surprised I love yard sales.
28:14 Daddy loves yard sales. Oh. I do too.
28:16 You can go there and you can dishes or something
28:18 that you could wash and be clean
28:19 and I find some antique pieces.
28:21 I know but even you can't go yard selling.
28:24 You can to Walmart or Dollar stores
28:29 and you can buy
28:30 some really nice little platters.
28:32 Exactly. You know. Or cake stands.
28:34 And it becomes part of your gift
28:35 and so I have one here, already I've just--
28:39 Cinda actually garnished it for me
28:40 with few of our some beautiful cherries
28:43 and that was a nice dish
28:44 and you know for hardly any money
28:47 at all and it becomes part of your gift.
28:49 Yes. So--
28:50 And these-- I'm gonna quick tell them 'cause these
28:53 little ones, you can just get a bag,
28:56 like a little bag like this
28:58 and you just stick in the little bag
29:01 and tie a bow on it.
29:03 And you can give little ones away.
29:04 And that's cute. That's cute too.
29:07 So you could see, you can make these all miniature
29:09 ones instead of one big one.
29:11 I think the next recipe is quite creative.
29:14 Yes, it is. Apples streusel in a jar.
29:17 Let me read this recipe. For this you will need...
30:26 This is actually a really good gift,
30:28 if you're having a party, a wedding
30:33 because you can make a lot--
30:36 And then you can decorate them all kinds of ways so--
30:40 I think it's a good gift for everything.
30:43 It is a good take home gift for something.
30:45 I liked your idea of a take home gift for a wedding
30:48 which you can show 'em afterwards you know,
30:50 how to-- she decorated so they were like for a bride
30:52 to give it away.
30:53 Well, I'll show you right here. All right.
30:55 It's right here. There you go.
30:56 And yeah, I mean I just put burlap and then some lace
31:00 with some little pearls on it so.
31:02 I mean that makes a really nice take home gift.
31:05 In fact we have to tell our niece Jody is--
31:07 Jody is getting married and she's having like a vintage
31:09 wedding you know so that'd be like perfect Jodu, Jojo,
31:13 we have to give that to you.
31:15 Okay, the first thing you want to do
31:17 is take your flaxseed
31:19 and you want to mix it in your water.
31:22 Because this needs to sit and this is ground flaxseed
31:28 exactly, thanks sis, and you're gonna mix
31:30 that in your water because that's gonna gel up.
31:33 And that's gonna be your binder.
31:35 Yeah, thickening agent. That's gonna be your binder.
31:38 Okay, so I'm gonna, sis, if you could start
31:41 peeling this apple for me.
31:43 All right. And then, Linda, you want to--
31:45 what you're gonna do is you want to put
31:47 all your dry ingredients into one bowl
31:49 and all of your wet ingredients into another bowl.
31:52 Now this one--
31:53 So, sis, I'm gonna put-- you can put
31:56 all the wet ingredients in here.
31:59 So that's your-- Including this?
32:00 Yes, that's your pure vanilla.
32:03 And then you've got your apple sauce
32:05 which we're so blessed.
32:07 Mom made us all apple sauce. Oh, and it was so good.
32:11 Thank you, mom. Apple from their own trees.
32:13 I've already start mine up.
32:14 And you know, what was so funny
32:17 is because when you know, how mom got the apples is dad
32:21 put her in the bucket of their big tractor
32:24 and lifted her up and she stood there
32:27 and picked all these apples.
32:29 You can say nothing stops her. No.
32:30 You know-- And yes, we have pictures.
32:32 Yeah, Mom is-- mom and dad are really are,
32:37 real true present-- mom is just the energy--
32:40 She doesn't stop. She does not stop.
32:42 Cinda, had the-- privilege of taking mom and dad to
32:45 Cayman Islands and this year and mom--
32:49 With Gene and Melissa--
32:50 Thomson, and they're friends of ours--
32:52 Gene, Mellissa, Thompson, we love them.
32:54 And mom got up there.
32:56 Mom and dad both swam with the dolphins
32:58 and mom and dad-- mom got up there
33:01 and had a dolphin do the toe push
33:03 where the dolphins push her right out of the water.
33:05 It looks like your water skiing is what it does.
33:08 You're literally standing up and the dolphins
33:11 have their noses on the bottom of each of your feet.
33:14 So two dolphins are just pushing in the water
33:16 and you're standing up.
33:18 And mom did it. Mom did that. I mean-- Perfect.
33:21 I went swimming with the dolphins there
33:23 before with her--
33:24 She's amazing.
33:25 For Kids' Time but I wouldn't do that dolphin push thing.
33:28 I mean-- I did.
33:29 I was terrified and mom was just rocked it.
33:32 I was so proud of her. She did so good.
33:35 Yeah. Okay, so you want to take--
33:37 You can go to her's Facebook wall on Facebook.
33:39 Well, just say it you don't expect that to happen
33:41 with me if I ever go.
33:45 I wouldn't want to do that. I'll cheer you on, Linda.
33:49 That's all right.
33:50 I'll be there it in the cheer crowd with you.
33:51 I just want to say a special thanks to Gene,
33:53 and Mellissa and Thomson for making that happen.
33:55 That was just a highlight that they'll never forget.
33:57 They are so fun anyways. Yes, they are. I mean just fun.
34:01 How are you doing with the apples?
34:03 Okay, is this how? Is this how it's supposed to be?
34:05 Yes, thank you. I'm gonna-- Do you want to--
34:07 This needs to sit there just a minute longer
34:09 so let me show you, I like to cut the apple up fine.
34:14 And so we're gonna cut it in half
34:17 and then I'll do a half, sis, and then I'll have you do the--
34:20 the other half.
34:21 Okay. So--
34:22 And then you want to cut the middle out.
34:27 You don't want that core in there and cut that off.
34:33 And then so what you'll do is
34:36 I slice it like this.
34:41 Lay it down, I slice it again like this
34:46 'cause I want small pieces because it's gonna
34:48 go onto a small jar.
34:50 And then, put that seed off and then I just go like this,
34:55 just rock it back and forth or up and down.
34:58 Whatever, however you want to do it.
35:00 And see how nice and small those are--
35:02 Yes. Okay, so that's-- that's--
35:05 Make it nice and tender when they bake in the heat.
35:07 Right, so you don't want real big pieces but yeah,
35:10 you-- I mean there-- it's a nice little chunky size.
35:14 Okay, so see how our flaxseed is starting to gel...
35:20 and this is what we use for a binder
35:24 but you can start to see how it's starting to gel and--
35:28 It's getting thick.
35:31 And so we'll mix that into here.
35:33 Into our liquids. Into the liquids.
35:36 Thank you. Thank you.
35:37 And if you will oh, I have a-- I have a spatula right here.
35:42 So I'm gonna mix into here like this...
35:49 and then blend it all together.
35:54 And just kind, I've folded up, you don't need 'em,
35:56 you don't want to use a mixer.
35:59 You can, this is-- this is a perfect one for you,
36:02 Sister Linda because she-- Linda didn't like the gadgets.
36:05 That's true.
36:07 This one you just can fold it in.
36:09 And then I love the gadgets. Yeah, we love the gadgets.
36:11 I'm kind of like grandma.
36:15 Grandma never had gadgets.
36:17 She wouldn't-- grandma wouldn't even
36:18 let us get her microwave remember that?
36:20 Well, I know-- When we want to buy her microwave.
36:22 I know. She goes no.
36:23 What I need that for? Well, yeah.
36:25 That's right. Well, I might never use it.
36:29 No, well, Hun, I got the fridge, I got the oven.
36:34 I got the stove. Wow.
36:36 What do I need. I love grandma.
36:40 The refridge. She does that call it.
36:43 You know-- Okay, you can put that right in here.
36:46 Now put your apple in.
36:48 Well, I got-- I'm hurrying with the apple here.
36:52 Okay. Now that's a little bit big piece, don't you think?
36:55 Well, I was-- I was did I look like--
36:59 That's way too big to go in there.
37:00 She was glad it was--
37:03 And if you really wanted to get there in a hurry,
37:05 you can just chop, chop.
37:06 What? There you go.
37:08 Chop. Chop. Chop. Okay.
37:12 There you go. Look at her-- Here.
37:15 Scoop it all up just like that, one for me,
37:20 one for the bowl.
37:23 One for me, one for the bowl. Oh, I love cooking.
37:27 I had so much fun
37:29 Okay, if you'll keep mixing that up,
37:31 if you'll clean them.
37:32 All right, I'll clean this right up, right over here.
37:35 And now we'll put our streusels together.
37:38 I don't whip it or anything I just stir it, right?
37:41 Yeah, just fold it. Okay, not even really stir.
37:44 You just want to fold it.
37:45 Okay, break up your brown sugar,
37:48 put in your flour.
37:51 Okay. And your cinnamon.
37:53 Cinnamon makes everything tasty. Oh.
37:55 And then put in your margarine
37:57 and then you just-- it's a soften margarine.
38:00 So you're gonna just blend it up and--
38:04 I actually cut the margarine and-- I decided to cut it down
38:08 'cause you know you add more margarine
38:10 but I don't think it needs it.
38:12 You're welcome to add more if you want.
38:16 Okay. Try to cut those fat grams when you eat.
38:18 Exactly.
38:20 And then Brenda's favorite nut--
38:25 You taste that for me, sis. Oh, might if I know.
38:29 Okay. Yep. That's the pecan. A really good one too.
38:38 Okay, I'll take your word for it.
38:41 Okay there you go. Now, the fun begins.
38:45 You see, if the truth is if I took a bite
38:48 of that the chances are it's probably gonna
38:50 get stuck in my teeth.
38:51 And then Cinda's gonna say hey, sis on the air.
38:53 Oh, I got some stuff right there,
38:55 can you get a big close up.
38:59 Yeah, that's--
39:00 You mean like, she's worried because that's what happened
39:04 at the restaurant.
39:06 Yeah, we're at a restaurant it just really happened.
39:09 We were out all you know,
39:11 having something to eat together
39:12 and I-- we were having broccoli
39:14 and so after I've eaten some broccoli.
39:16 I-- Linda over quietly to Cinda and said, Cinda,
39:20 and I were nobody can see me very discreetly I said sis,
39:24 I said can you tell me I said, do you?
39:26 Can you look I said,
39:27 do I have some broccoli in my teeth?
39:28 And then you give up the nice smile.
39:29 So I can see.
39:31 So I smiled like this you know and usually
39:33 she go yes or no and if she said yes,
39:35 I'd to the ladies room and get in and take care of it.
39:37 You know, but she goes, she looks at me and she goes--
39:39 I don't know just a minute, she turns to the table next
39:42 to us with these group of men are sitting.
39:43 She says, excuse me sir, can you tell this
39:46 there ain't any broccoli in her teeth.
39:50 Well, we do. He actually looked.
39:55 I was just about to die.
39:57 While her cheeks turn nice and bright.
40:02 Okay, I have the half pint jars
40:06 'cause they're perfect size to give away.
40:10 So they're a nice size. And where's the spray?
40:13 Do we have some pans yep, yeah, we do.
40:16 And just for the record most of the time
40:18 when I ask her that she will be
40:19 very discreetly telling me, yes,
40:21 you got something right there and I'll say okay.
40:23 I'll just go ladies room and take care of that.
40:24 May be we were a little dark in our conversation
40:26 or something.
40:28 And she was livening it up. I would never do that.
40:32 Okay, so you want to spray the inside
40:36 with a nonstick spray and then--
40:40 You want the spoon. I do.
40:42 We're gonna put in about a spoonful in the bottom.
40:48 A big spoon, okay. A big spoonful.
40:51 And then some of this streusel. And then put some streusel.
40:54 And you want to divide this up
40:56 between this recipe will make seven of these jars.
41:01 Enough?
41:03 So you and you want to fill them no more than
41:09 3/4 of the way so... we'll do another.
41:12 To give it a room to raise. Uh-huh.
41:16 And another little bit of streusel.
41:19 That is such a creative thing. Okay.
41:22 And then boy, you're a little skimpy
41:24 on the streusels right there.
41:26 Well, I just wanted to know that how many--
41:28 this didn't look like our streusels would go along
41:30 for that such time.
41:31 It will. It will.
41:33 In order to fix this, you tell her how much
41:35 streusels to put in there?
41:37 What? Just making the comment. Doesn't matter to me.
41:46 There so you wanted to be about that full.
41:50 Now if you the big muffin tins,
41:53 this will not sit in a regular muffin tin
41:56 but I have the large muffin tins at home.
41:59 So I'd sit it in my muffin tin but if you don't have
42:02 that then get a baking dish and you'll set 'em
42:06 in the baking dish like this and what you also need
42:09 to do is our paper towels here.
42:12 Let's get-- you want to get a paper towel
42:15 and make sure that the rims are clean all the way around.
42:21 And this is important because we're going
42:24 to put the lids on them while it's hot
42:26 so you want to make sure that's clean.
42:28 That's what I like, when I started this rose up
42:31 really nice and high and hers actually came up
42:33 a little bit above and she puts the rings on--
42:37 Well, yes.
42:39 You know while they were still hot.
42:41 Right, so-- Then you'll hear it though making noise.
42:43 Yeah. What does it do? I'm not doing it again.
42:47 It pops, okay.
42:52 See. She did.
42:55 So what you do is you'll put all these--
42:57 let's pretend these are here so you put
42:59 all the seven of them right here.
43:01 And then you will put this in a 350 degree oven
43:08 and you'll put 'em in for 20 to 25 minutes
43:11 depending on your oven.
43:13 And what I do is I stick a knife
43:16 or a toothpick down into the center
43:19 and actually if you did it,
43:20 you'll probably gonna do a knife.
43:21 Because if you do a toothpick,
43:23 you wouldn't get down to these, to this layer.
43:26 That's right.
43:27 And you want to make sure that comes out clean
43:30 and then while like she said, while it's hot.
43:33 So if you happened to get a little full and it raises up
43:36 a little bit 'cause some of mine
43:38 I'd got a little full and it raise up a little bit.
43:40 I just took my lid and pushed it down
43:44 and right when they come out of the oven,
43:46 you're gonna put the lid on and tighten it and then
43:51 you'll hear the lid, what does it do?
43:54 I think she does that really well.
43:56 Pops. You will hear the lid pop and that seals it.
44:03 It'll stay, this will be good for a month or so.
44:07 I mean if it does not seal and you'll this the middle
44:10 will kind of indent little lower little bit.
44:14 If it doesn't seal then it'll last two to three days
44:17 but in the refrigerator, okay.
44:20 So-- And then--
44:21 So you have some there of what it looks like.
44:23 Well, you've decorated one here.
44:25 I like this, you've got some like--
44:27 Just did some--
44:28 And you could probably make designs on it
44:30 with the paint brush too.
44:32 You could have-- and you know this is be
44:33 really fun for your kids to get involved
44:36 'cause you can do any type of fabric
44:38 or and burlap is really cheap.
44:40 So you can do the burlap
44:42 and let your kids paint on them,
44:44 they can or do a magic marker or something on it.
44:46 Put somebody's name on it. Put their name on it.
44:48 That's why Brenda is saying
44:49 this will be so good for a wedding.
44:51 That's right. But-- That's beautiful, isn't it?
44:54 So I love that idea, sis. So have fun making them.
44:57 That's right.
44:58 Well something else you're gonna love
44:59 making is Linda's Mini Citrus Bread.
45:02 Oh, that sounds good.
45:04 Oh, sis, would you read the recipe?
45:05 I sure will. For this you will need...
45:35 It's real easy. It is. Well, we're gonna start out.
45:38 Now wait a minute, I got to give you the frosting,
45:40 can I do that?
45:41 All right. Well, I don't want to forget your frosting, okay.
45:43 That's right. For this you're going to need...
45:50 Wow. That's easy. Oh, that wasn't very much.
45:52 But then you want to have that part too.
45:55 That part is in fact since you are right there
45:58 let's just mix it up.
46:00 Okay, so I just have powdered sugar
46:01 two ingredients that's pretty good.
46:03 I say life is short, start with something sweet.
46:06 Yep, there you go.
46:08 And while she's whipping that together,
46:10 I'm going to start putting our bread together.
46:13 And so I have the unbleached white flour,
46:17 I'm gonna put the sugar in there,
46:19 the whole wheat flour and the 2 tablespoons
46:24 of aluminum free baking powder and some cinnamon.
46:30 And I'm gonna put some of the orange wine in here.
46:34 So if somebody had self rising flour.
46:36 Well, can they use that if they wanted to or no?
46:39 Well, they could they'll have to--
46:42 Adjust the recipe a little bit and adjust it.
46:43 You have to adjust the rest of recipe. Yeah.
46:45 I'm gonna leave just a little bit here
46:47 of the orange rind to decorate the tops of the bread with.
46:52 Okay, so for this now
46:53 we're just gonna mix it all together.
46:58 That orange rind is so fragrant.
47:01 Yeah, doesn't it smell good? I love it.
47:05 I love how God created so many special foods for us
47:07 to eat and he-- he didn't just make everything one color.
47:11 He made beautiful colors.
47:13 In fact when you the more colors
47:15 you put in your meal and you paint
47:17 your plate like a rainbow.
47:19 Here it is. You'll have good nutrition.
47:21 Linda's famous, famous line.
47:22 You know this reminds me off when I'm visiting
47:25 David and Katie in California my children.
47:28 I just walk outside and pick an orange of their tree.
47:31 I love-- there's nothing like fresh orange juice
47:34 and I love--
47:36 Speaking of fresh oranges-- you put fresh orange juice
47:40 in here one cup, I'm gonna put the oil in and the vanilla.
47:47 Okay.
47:48 Gives that a good flavor and then we're gonna finish out
47:50 with the soy milk.
47:53 And I think I'll do okay. All right.
47:55 And then I'm gonna work it in.
47:57 I've made a well in the middle of my dry ingredients.
48:00 And I'm just gonna work
48:01 all this in a little bit more of--
48:04 Do you this week our Sister Cinda here
48:07 she has my grandsons Michael and Jason
48:10 making orange juice.
48:12 You have a-- I have a juicer.
48:15 And I so had them making fresh squeezed orange juice--
48:19 Oh, wow. And Jason-- The youngest.
48:22 Oh, he is hilarious.
48:25 He puts this the high lid-- Michael is older so he gets
48:30 to cut the oranges in half and then Jason puts it
48:33 on top of and pulls the handle down like this and he's like
48:36 okay, aunty is that good?
48:38 Is that good?
48:39 And I go yeah, that's good Jason and so it's pouring out,
48:42 you know, and so then he takes the glass and he goes.
48:47 Ah, aunty, there's just nothing like
48:49 fresh orange juice.
48:53 He's so funny.
48:56 Okay, you're just gonna whip it together like that.
49:01 He even made some of that, they made--
49:04 you have sometime, he had a little cup
49:05 that was like this little sacred cup
49:06 that they kept in the refrigerator
49:08 for me to get home.
49:09 They say grandma this is yours so they couldn't wait,
49:10 we made it for you.
49:13 You could spray this.
49:15 These are little, this pan is, it's really neat,
49:18 it has little shape little loaves
49:20 instead of a muffin tin.
49:22 It has little loaves of bread.
49:25 Well, they come over most days after school.
49:27 So I let them help me with whatever I happen to be doing.
49:30 You know, if I'm working in the garden,
49:32 If I'm you know, baking whatever--
49:34 Okay, do you--
49:36 I think I can use that little cup right there.
49:39 That'll work. Yeah, that's right.
49:41 This will work. Improvise.
49:43 Well, that's what mom taught us. That's right.
49:45 You don't have what you need, you just make do.
49:48 We're gonna fill it just about three, fourths full,
49:52 like kind of like that.
49:55 And then we're gonna bake it at 350 for about I think
49:59 it takes about 20 minutes here, oven might take 25 you know
50:03 minutes but usually about 20 minutes it's done.
50:07 And you just stick a toothpick in it to see if it
50:09 comes out clean to see if--
50:10 Yeah, then if you get it on the side you wipe it off.
50:13 Are these mine to wrap?
50:15 And we're gonna-- I'm gonna ask Cinda to wrap one.
50:18 This is how they look when they're done.
50:21 And so she needs to wrap it. I think we have some more.
50:27 Right, she's taking care of it, she's wrapping it real good.
50:29 Okay, I'll wrap it and let her put the bow honor.
50:34 That's really good. You want to try?
50:37 Yeah, you tried that for me. All right, I'll try this too.
50:42 Okay. How about--
50:43 I like 'em both. They're both good.
50:45 All right. We're gonna put this in the bag.
50:50 Sis, I love you. Tie up the bag.
50:53 I'm helping you out. And by the way I love you too.
50:57 So you just-- Thanks for sharing with me.
51:00 I just did a little twist right here.
51:02 Got a little-- okay.
51:03 Oh, is that supposed to be doing that.
51:05 Uh-huh. Okay.
51:12 I'm glad that you guys are doing such a good job.
51:14 There you go.
51:16 And you can just tie a-- tie a bow in it and--
51:19 I tell you what--
51:20 Cut it off here, and I'm gonna have to cut off--
51:22 I did wrapped it little bit different.
51:24 I did some ahead of time. So I did my--
51:26 Yes, she did-- I did help out.
51:29 So you can wrap 'em different ways
51:30 and they make nice little gifts that you can even like,
51:35 say if you have a Kids Sabbath School class
51:38 and you want to give 'em something special.
51:40 You can just make these little loaves
51:41 and pass each one out to them.
51:43 I say take your class out Sabbath
51:44 afternoon passing them out.
51:45 Yes. Oh, that's a good idea. And you know what?
51:49 I can guarantee you that whoever receives
51:52 one of these, they're gonna be happy.
