00:08:17.24\00:08:19.75 We have here a transcript of what the astronauts said 00:08:20.52\00:08:23.80 at that time. 00:08:24.05\00:08:25.31 Astronaut Anders said: "In the beginning, God created" 00:08:26.15\00:08:28.95 "the heaven and the Earth", now remember, 00:08:28.98\00:08:31.28 from the Moon, this is astronaut Anders calling back, 00:08:32.48\00:08:35.39 "In the beginning, God created the heaven and Earth," 00:08:35.43\00:08:38.27 "and the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon" 00:08:38.31\00:08:42.05 "the face of the deep and the Spirit of God moved" 00:08:42.08\00:08:45.38 "upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God" 00:08:45.83\00:08:48.12 "moved upon the waters, and God said: Let there be light" 00:08:48.43\00:08:51.88 "and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good" 00:08:51.91\00:08:55.33 "and God divided the light from the darkness." 00:08:55.36\00:08:57.74 Then astronaut Lovell came on the radio 00:08:57.87\00:09:01.30 and He said: "And God called the light day and the darkness" 00:09:03.14\00:09:06.57 "He called night, and the evening and the morning" 00:09:06.60\00:09:08.72 "were the first day. And God said: Let there be firmament" 00:09:08.76\00:09:12.74 "in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters" 00:09:13.04\00:09:16.30 "from the waters. And God made the firmament and divided" 00:09:16.33\00:09:19.52 "the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so." 00:09:19.56\00:09:22.39 "And God called the firmament heaven, and the evening" 00:09:22.58\00:09:25.67 "and the morning, were the second day." 00:09:25.70\00:09:28.14 Then the third astronaut from the Moon announced, 00:09:28.18\00:09:32.64 astronaut Bornman: "And God said: Let the waters under" 00:09:32.88\00:09:36.04 the heavens be gathered together in one place and the dry" 00:09:36.08\00:09:39.21 "land appeared and it was so. And God called" 00:09:39.24\00:09:41.50 "the dry land Earth, and the gathering together" 00:09:41.54\00:09:43.73 "of the waters, he called seas. And God saw that it was good." 00:09:43.77\00:09:47.93 "And from the crew of Apollo 8," 00:09:48.13\00:09:50.30 "We pause with Goodnight, Good luck," 00:09:50.72\00:09:55.46 "a Merry Christmas and God Bless all of you." 00:09:56.02\00:10:00.21 "All of you on the good Earth." 00:10:00.55\00:10:03.07 The situation was that that evening, 00:10:03.11\00:10:06.12 that Christmas eve 1968, myself, my wife, Pat, 00:10:06.16\00:10:10.68 and the 3 children were on the way down to South Carolina. 00:10:10.72\00:10:14.78 We heard it. I was stunned that indeed the astronauts, 00:10:14.94\00:10:18.39 United States astronauts, some of the finest scientists 00:10:18.42\00:10:21.84 in America were, on that particular evening gone back 00:10:22.44\00:10:25.62 to Genesis, and quote from the King James Version of the Bible 00:10:25.66\00:10:29.44 the first 3 days of creation, amazing! 00:10:29.47\00:10:32.92 It was amazing to me, it was astounding because, you see 00:10:32.96\00:10:35.67 by this time I had begun to relook into the story 00:10:35.70\00:10:38.34 of creation, and I new that scientific community 00:10:38.38\00:10:40.95 was drifting further and further and further away from Genesis, 00:10:40.99\00:10:44.25 but here, God was making an announcement through 00:10:44.40\00:10:46.74 the astronauts, come back to Earth, all over Earth 00:10:46.77\00:10:49.08 through that Christmas Eve. 00:10:49.38\00:10:51.06 So the question is, what has happened since that time? 00:10:51.27\00:10:54.58 Has their message been accepted or has it been ignored? 00:10:54.61\00:10:57.89 Well, the scientific community has widely rejected 00:10:58.25\00:11:02.79 the message of Genesis that was sent back to the Earth 00:11:03.16\00:11:06.48 on the Christmas Eve in 1968. 00:11:06.58\00:11:09.56 They have rejected that God has created the Earth, 00:11:09.76\00:11:12.65 but in that rejection they have ignored published scientific 00:11:13.26\00:11:17.52 evidence which actually supports a young age of the Earth, 00:11:17.55\00:11:21.78 and a rapid crystallization of the host rocks of the Earth. 00:11:21.93\00:11:26.05 We're not going to be focusing today on that particular 00:11:27.17\00:11:29.54 part of the evidence, the evidence of the young age 00:11:29.58\00:11:32.33 of the Earth and the evidence of creation itself, 00:11:32.37\00:11:35.09 we're actually going to be looking at the theory 00:11:35.37\00:11:38.23 which under girds all of evolution, the Big Bang theory, 00:11:38.27\00:11:42.06 and why does science have such a fascination 00:11:42.26\00:11:45.24 with that Big Bang theory? 00:11:45.27\00:11:47.03 And we're going to be looking at the cosmic expansion, 00:11:47.07\00:11:49.67 but first, dad, why don't you tell us a little bit, 00:11:50.03\00:11:53.50 just briefly, about the Big Bang and what we're 00:11:53.53\00:11:56.97 going to be looking at. 00:11:57.00\00:11:58.44 The Big Bang theory, as most of us know, I think, 00:11:58.64\00:12:00.88 indicates, or suggests, or believes, postulates, 00:12:01.09\00:12:04.53 billions and billions years ago all the matter in the Universe 00:12:04.93\00:12:08.24 came boiling out of, guess what, nothing. 00:12:08.27\00:12:10.63 That's right, that's what's believed. 00:12:10.67\00:12:13.00 It comes out of absolutely nothing. 00:12:13.20\00:12:14.93 So, the so called vacuum, what is the vacuum? 00:12:14.97\00:12:16.86 Vacuum is energy, so where does the energy come from? 00:12:16.90\00:12:19.06 Nobody knows. 00:12:19.09\00:12:20.08 Anyway, supposedly everything comes out absolutely nothing, 00:12:20.12\00:12:22.91 sooner or later stars were formed and supernova, 00:12:22.94\00:12:25.30 and then other stars were formed and sooner or later here's 00:12:25.34\00:12:28.03 where we come today. 00:12:28.06\00:12:29.31 It's going to be interesting for us to see today, 00:12:29.45\00:12:31.94 that the foundation of that Big Bang is all wrong. 00:12:31.98\00:12:34.44 But one prediction in particular is that in the Big Bang 00:12:34.56\00:12:38.69 you have to have a Universe that is the same everywhere, 00:12:38.72\00:12:42.82 there is no center to the universein the Big Bang, 00:12:42.85\00:12:44.90 we're going to find out differently, we're going 00:12:44.94\00:12:46.92 to find out that the greatest scientists in the world 00:12:46.96\00:12:49.99 have actually ignored some very, very persuasive evidence 00:12:50.09\00:12:53.16 that would disprove this fundamental premise 00:12:53.19\00:12:55.21 of the Big Bang. 00:12:55.31\00:12:56.87 So, it's our discovery that we're going to be 00:12:57.04\00:12:58.64 talking about this afternoon. 00:12:58.67\00:13:00.20 Well of course, this stands in marked contrast. 00:13:00.24\00:13:02.97 The theory that the universeis everywhere the same, 00:13:03.34\00:13:06.02 that stands in marked contrast and contradiction 00:13:06.06\00:13:09.82 to the plane words of scripture in Revelation 20:11, 00:13:09.86\00:13:13.59 which says John the Revelator saw a great white throne 00:13:13.95\00:13:17.10 in the heavens, the throne of God, 00:13:17.49\00:13:20.11 we're going to be looking more at that great white throne 00:13:20.33\00:13:22.79 and seeing is there's any evidence that that throne 00:13:22.82\00:13:25.99 occupies a special place in the Universe, specifically, 00:13:26.02\00:13:29.16 is that great white throne at the center of the Universe? 00:13:29.47\00:13:33.54 I think this presentation could be of interest not to just 00:13:33.74\00:13:37.18 people of faith, but to people of all religious 00:13:37.21\00:13:39.86 persuasions, even people who don't believe in God, 00:13:39.89\00:13:42.51 because this issue touches at the heart of where 00:13:42.58\00:13:45.79 we all came from. 00:13:45.82\00:13:47.56 Yes it does touch at the heart from where we all came from, 00:13:48.66\00:13:52.69 and there is something very very special about, we believe, 00:13:52.94\00:13:56.45 about the discovery being made at this particular time 00:13:56.48\00:13:59.17 and that is, that it has implications with respect to 00:13:59.60\00:14:03.40 the second appearing of Christ in the clouds of heaven. 00:14:03.68\00:14:07.49 You may ask "how can that possibly be?", but we're 00:14:07.52\00:14:10.67 going to find out that indeed, that is the case. 00:14:10.70\00:14:13.82 Very very briefly though, we want to get our foundations 00:14:13.98\00:14:16.92 in the Bible, Hebrews 10 talks about Christ offering Himself 00:14:17.02\00:14:21.33 as a perfect sacrifice for one time only, then it says 00:14:21.73\00:14:25.76 He sat down at the right hand of God. 00:14:25.79\00:14:28.64 Then it goes on to say that this sitting down, after He 00:14:29.22\00:14:32.78 made the sacrifice, says that indeed He was - what? 00:14:32.81\00:14:36.34 The new covenant was going to be given at the time, 00:14:36.71\00:14:39.62 putting God's laws in each of our hearts and minds. 00:14:39.77\00:14:41.98 Which laws are those? The laws that we're talking 00:14:42.01\00:14:44.15 about today, the 10 commandments being written on each 00:14:44.19\00:14:47.15 of our hearts, and then it goes on to say that through this 00:14:47.19\00:14:50.23 new and living way, which was opened through Christ's 00:14:50.26\00:14:52.80 sacrifice, we go into the sanctuary. 00:14:52.83\00:14:55.81 So we want to remember this afternoon as we're speaking, 00:14:55.85\00:14:58.66 we are going into the sanctuary in heaven, by faith, through 00:14:59.01\00:15:02.71 the sacrifice of Christ. This is how we understand 00:15:02.74\00:15:05.33 these discoveries that we've been able to make. 00:15:05.36\00:15:07.92 We're actually going to be looking at a couple of pictures 00:15:08.17\00:15:11.56 taken from the Hubble Space Telescope to begin 00:15:11.80\00:15:14.60 our presentation. 00:15:14.63\00:15:16.57 And there we want to bring out the photograph 00:15:16.76\00:15:19.22 of the Hubble Space Telescope as it is now, 00:15:19.26\00:15:21.69 orbiting the Earth. 00:15:21.72\00:15:23.67 Let's look at the first graphic that was taken by Hubble. 00:15:24.05\00:15:28.74 It's the Ant Nebula in the Menzel 3 exploding star, 00:15:28.77\00:15:34.18 and it exploded like an ant, how about that? 00:15:34.28\00:15:37.54 Then we're going to have the Eskimo Nebula. 00:15:37.67\00:15:41.08 Again, an exploding star, can you believe that's 00:15:41.43\00:15:43.40 in the heavens? It really is, it's been photographed by 00:15:43.44\00:15:46.16 the Hubble Space Telescope, 5,000 light years away 00:15:46.19\00:15:49.29 in the constellation Gemini. 00:15:49.60\00:15:51.61 And then we're going to have the Cat's Eye Nebula. 00:15:51.65\00:15:54.21 We had someone speak last night referring to cats, 00:15:54.24\00:15:57.60 and here is in this Universe the Cat's Eye Nebula 00:15:57.88\00:16:01.99 in NGC 6543. Beautiful! 00:16:02.15\00:16:05.25 We believe that, indeed, God is trying to attract 00:16:05.29\00:16:07.69 the attention of the world to these magnificent wonders 00:16:07.73\00:16:10.26 in the heavens. 00:16:10.29\00:16:11.83 I just wanted to say that we came to the meeting last night 00:16:13.57\00:16:16.93 where David Asscherick was speaking and dad really 00:16:16.96\00:16:19.01 appreciated his illustration of people before conversion 00:16:19.05\00:16:23.54 and after conversion. Before conversion they're much 00:16:23.58\00:16:28.04 like what? Cats. 00:16:28.07\00:16:30.48 And after conversion they're more like? Dogs. 00:16:30.52\00:16:33.02 We've never heard that illustration, it's a great 00:16:33.05\00:16:35.89 one though, but here we see the Pillars of Creation, 00:16:35.93\00:16:38.74 the Eagle Nebula. The Pillars of Creation 00:16:39.83\00:16:43.55 are columns hundreds of light years long, of rarified gas 00:16:43.59\00:16:47.58 and from my understanding it took the astronomers months 00:16:48.02\00:16:52.01 to name this particular structure they were 00:16:52.19\00:16:55.80 so awed by it And in the next illustration 00:16:55.84\00:16:59.38 we have an example of the Barred Spiral Galaxy. 00:16:59.42\00:17:02.89 David, let's ask a question, as we see those spiral arms, 00:17:03.26\00:17:07.07 and we see that bright center there, what are we looking at 00:17:07.11\00:17:10.89 in terms of that nebulosity in the center? 00:17:10.92\00:17:13.08 That isn't just dust, those are hundreds of billions 00:17:13.53\00:17:16.46 of stars, each of these galaxies has so many stars that they 00:17:16.50\00:17:20.29 can't be completely resolved by the telescope, but each 00:17:20.32\00:17:23.84 galaxy has hundreds of billions of stars and as we're 00:17:23.88\00:17:27.33 going to see later when we look at the Hubble Ultra Deep Field 00:17:27.37\00:17:30.57 that the universeitself contains hundreds of billions 00:17:30.68\00:17:34.37 of galaxies. 00:17:34.40\00:17:36.73 Almost more than we can actually begin to think about. 00:17:37.17\00:17:39.93 Let's look at the next one here, the Sombrero. 00:17:39.96\00:17:43.32 Again, what we're saying is, what appears to be just dust, 00:17:43.40\00:17:47.09 are collections of hundreds of millions of stars. 00:17:47.19\00:17:50.61 It is simply that the Hubble Space Telescope is unable 00:17:50.65\00:17:53.63 to actually separate the stars because the distance 00:17:53.67\00:17:56.93 is so great, and look at that dust lane right there 00:17:56.96\00:18:00.19 in the center of the Sombrero. 00:18:00.22\00:18:02.48 Somebody planned this so that we today could actually see 00:18:02.58\00:18:07.64 the marvels of creation in the Universe. 00:18:07.67\00:18:11.79 Are David and I are saying that we believe the Universe, 00:18:12.19\00:18:14.91 this visible Universe, of galaxies we're looking at, 00:18:14.95\00:18:17.64 are part of the 6 day creation, and that the 7th day Sabbath 00:18:17.93\00:18:21.99 is the memorial of the creation of these galaxies? 00:18:22.02\00:18:24.97 Yes! We're saying that indeed, the marvels of the Universe 00:18:25.07\00:18:28.57 are those entities in the heavens that God intends for us 00:18:28.61\00:18:32.21 to look at and remind us of His creative power and the 7th 00:18:32.24\00:18:35.81 day Sabbath and memorial of creation. 00:18:35.84\00:18:39.04 Surely these nebulae and galaxies are truly telling 00:18:39.14\00:18:41.72 us something of vast importance. 00:18:41.75\00:18:44.42 That's right, we want to look at an illustration now 00:18:44.76\00:18:47.53 that I just mentioned briefly a second ago, called the 00:18:47.57\00:18:50.31 Hubble Ultra Deep Field. 00:18:50.34\00:18:52.00 And basically, this is a series of time lapsed photographs 00:18:52.34\00:18:57.57 taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. 00:18:57.60\00:18:59.48 Each time it orbited the Earth, it would come back to a certain 00:18:59.75\00:19:03.36 point and open it's shutter briefly and capture another 00:19:03.39\00:19:06.70 look at a particular point in the sky. 00:19:06.73\00:19:09.53 This point in the sky that it would look at would just be 00:19:09.57\00:19:12.23 the size of a pinhead. 00:19:12.26\00:19:14.00 If you took your hand out in front of your face 00:19:14.04\00:19:18.25 and projected it against the sky, just the very tip 00:19:20.05\00:19:22.67 of your finger, projected in the blackest part of the sky 00:19:22.71\00:19:25.79 you can find, that's what they were focusing the Hubble 00:19:25.83\00:19:28.84 Space Telescope on, and look at what they saw when they looked 00:19:28.88\00:19:33.56 where utter blackness was otherwise. 00:19:33.74\00:19:36.17 In time-lapse photography you can see that everywhere you can 00:19:36.21\00:19:39.85 see in the Universe, no matter how black it may appear, if you 00:19:39.88\00:19:43.70 open the camera shutter long enough, this is what you'll see. 00:19:44.10\00:19:47.97 Unlimited numbers of galaxies, and it's from this picture 00:19:48.51\00:19:52.15 that the estimate of the galaxies in the Universe, 00:19:52.28\00:19:55.24 100 billion trillion galaxies, each one of those 00:19:55.28\00:19:58.15 galaxies having 100's of billions of stars each, 00:19:58.18\00:20:00.98 you can begin to understand the magnitude of the size 00:20:01.02\00:20:05.86 of the universewhen you look at these pictures, 00:20:05.89\00:20:08.51 but essentially, we want to go in just a little more detail 00:20:09.58\00:20:13.93 with the next graphic. 00:20:14.00\00:20:15.85 We can see that in some cases, the little green circles 00:20:15.89\00:20:18.92 that have been drawn around some of those galaxies, 00:20:18.96\00:20:21.96 if you actually blow up the picture large enough, 00:20:22.31\00:20:24.83 you can see that the galaxies that those green circles 00:20:24.87\00:20:27.40 are drawn around appear red. 00:20:27.43\00:20:29.71 Now these galaxies represent some of the most distant 00:20:29.75\00:20:32.61 galaxies ever recorded by any human instrument, 00:20:32.64\00:20:36.63 but what is the significance of these galaxies appearing red? 00:20:36.91\00:20:40.58 Well, it's interesting. They appear red because of a 00:20:40.94\00:20:44.17 special phenomena we believe called the Doppler Shift. 00:20:44.21\00:20:48.12 An object receding away from a source will appear more red 00:20:48.15\00:20:51.48 if it's emitting a light, and that's exactly what we think 00:20:51.52\00:20:54.82 is happening in that Hubble Ultra Deep Field. 00:20:54.85\00:20:57.37 The galaxies furthest from the Earth are receding 00:20:57.47\00:21:00.45 from the Earth at a great speed, so much so 00:21:00.48\00:21:03.05 that their light spectra, as recorded by the telescope, 00:21:03.09\00:21:06.21 has actually shifted towards the red end of the spectrum. 00:21:06.24\00:21:09.33 Now if you're in a room somewhere and you see everybody 00:21:09.54\00:21:12.71 rushing away from you, what would you assume about 00:21:12.74\00:21:15.40 your position in that room. 00:21:15.43\00:21:17.77 Well, you might think a couple of things, but what I'm 00:21:17.94\00:21:20.88 trying to get you to actually think about here, is that you're 00:21:20.92\00:21:23.94 at the center of an expansion. 00:21:23.97\00:21:26.50 And that's what we think is happening here, when we see 00:21:26.75\00:21:29.41 the Hubble Ultra Deep Field pointed out here, we see 00:21:30.67\00:21:33.61 galaxies rushing away from the Earth. 00:21:33.91\00:21:36.16 We believe that the Earth is actually close to the center 00:21:36.20\00:21:40.26 of an expansion, the expanding Universe. 00:21:40.52\00:21:43.69 Yes, that's true, and in order to get a better handle on that, 00:21:44.44\00:21:48.21 we want to say that this is part of, we believe the cosmic 00:21:48.24\00:21:51.98 code of the Universe, the 10 commandment cosmic code. 00:21:52.01\00:21:54.95 God is trying to help us understand that He created 00:21:54.99\00:21:57.86 the universein a particular way to point to His throne. 00:21:57.90\00:22:01.43 So if we go now to Hubble himself, we find in the 1920's 00:22:01.53\00:22:06.23 Hubble was using the Mt. Wilson Telescope and as he did that 00:22:06.26\00:22:10.45 he was finding some very unusual features of the Universe. 00:22:10.48\00:22:14.64 There he is. We go to the next slide, 00:22:14.67\00:22:16.91 we find there that as we have a star and there are particles 00:22:17.09\00:22:21.14 revolving around this hot star, and there are particles coming 00:22:21.54\00:22:24.28 towards the Earth, and there are particles going away from 00:22:24.31\00:22:27.51 the Earth as it circles the star, the light coming to us 00:22:27.55\00:22:30.72 is blue shifted, the particles going away from us 00:22:30.75\00:22:34.45 are red shifted, and that's the meaning then of 00:22:34.65\00:22:36.73 the Doppler Effect, something going away from you is going 00:22:36.77\00:22:39.10 to have a red shift, something coming towards you 00:22:39.13\00:22:40.83 is going to give a blue shift and so, as a result of that 00:22:40.87\00:22:44.94 we find on the next slide, that the relationship that the Hubble 00:22:45.10\00:22:49.95 found is... 00:22:49.98\00:22:51.82 ...It's the red shift relation. Basically, wherever Hubble 00:22:52.36\00:22:55.86 pointed his telescope, he saw galaxies moving away from him, 00:22:55.90\00:22:58.99 more red shift. And he not only saw that, but he noticed 00:22:59.03\00:23:02.09 a certain, particular thing about that. 00:23:02.12\00:23:04.08 He noticed that the galaxies that were the most red shifted 00:23:04.12\00:23:07.13 were also the galaxies that were furthest away from the Earth. 00:23:07.33\00:23:10.56 So then he concluded the famous Hubble relation, 00:23:10.59\00:23:13.35 the relationship that the further a galaxy 00:23:13.38\00:23:15.40 is away from the Earth, the more you would expect it's spectral 00:23:15.44\00:23:19.91 lines to be shifted to the red. 00:23:19.94\00:23:22.50 By conclusion you would assume that that galaxy is actually 00:23:23.39\00:23:27.31 moving faster, the more the red shift, 00:23:27.34\00:23:29.72 the faster the velocity of the galaxy itself. 00:23:29.76\00:23:33.22 Now, I think it's important to note that 00:23:33.41\00:23:36.53 Hubble, the man, the astronomer that we've been talking about, 00:23:37.40\00:23:41.07 is the astronomer which the Hubble Space Telescope 00:23:41.17\00:23:44.15 is named after. He's a very important figure in astronomy. 00:23:44.19\00:23:48.07 Let's look at that last slide just a minute more, 00:23:50.60\00:23:53.27 if we can have it back on the screen, please. 00:23:53.31\00:23:55.95 We want to make sure that we understand that, basically, 00:23:56.03\00:23:58.86 the observations that are being made on the Universe 00:23:58.89\00:24:01.65 are being made here on Earth, and what David is saying is 00:24:01.69\00:24:05.04 the length of those arrows arrows represents the speed 00:24:05.07\00:24:08.39 of the galaxies moving away from us, except that instead of being 00:24:08.49\00:24:12.13 just 2 dimensional, it's 3 dimensional, and the reddening 00:24:12.16\00:24:16.03 at the end of the arrows, as you can see, shows that 00:24:16.06\00:24:18.43 the light was red shifted, and the length of the arrows 00:24:18.46\00:24:20.76 shows they're really speeding away from us far more rapidly. 00:24:20.80\00:24:24.39 So, the question is though, what framework did Hubble use 00:24:24.64\00:24:29.48 in interpreting this data? 00:24:29.51\00:24:31.37 He decided that instead of assuming that the Earth occupied 00:24:32.23\00:24:36.14 a special position in the Universe, as a result 00:24:36.17\00:24:38.83 of his interpretations or as a result of his observations, 00:24:38.87\00:24:42.46 he made another interpretation, but the interpretation that 00:24:43.13\00:24:46.66 seemed most obvious would be a simple interpretation of the 00:24:46.69\00:24:49.95 Doppler interpretation, the fact that if everything is moving 00:24:49.99\00:24:53.32 away from you, then you must be at the center of an expansion. 00:24:53.36\00:24:56.66 Why would that be important? 00:24:56.69\00:24:58.32 Well it's important to us because we've been postulating 00:24:58.36\00:25:02.22 that Earth, or something near the Earth has a special position 00:25:02.32\00:25:09.45 in the Universe. 00:25:09.48\00:25:10.60 Remember the great white throne in Revelation 20:11 00:25:10.64\00:25:14.72 that we believe does exist, perhaps that is a reference 00:25:14.76\00:25:18.40 point that we can point to and look at when we think about 00:25:18.43\00:25:22.04 how the Universe is structured. 00:25:22.66\00:25:24.71 So what did Hubble have to say when he was confronted 00:25:25.19\00:25:28.29 with this very strong evidence that we were in a special place 00:25:28.33\00:25:32.48 in the Universe, what was his comment about that? 00:25:32.51\00:25:35.01 Well, Hubble had some interesting comments to make 00:25:35.05\00:25:37.52 in a book that he wrote 00:25:37.55\00:25:39.13 Observational Approach to Cosmology. 00:25:39.17\00:25:41.41 And in this book he outlines some very telling evidences 00:25:41.73\00:25:46.67 about what he did not want his data to be used for. 00:25:46.70\00:25:51.22 Essentially he says, a quote from his book, he says: 00:25:51.25\00:25:55.74 "The unwelcome supposition of a favored location" - a favored 00:25:56.07\00:25:59.97 location of the Earth - "must be avoided at all cost." 00:26:00.00\00:26:03.95 "It's intolerable." 00:26:03.98\00:26:06.07 And he said in another part of his book: "We need to escape" 00:26:06.43\00:26:10.57 "the horror of a unique position". 00:26:10.60\00:26:14.27 And in another page, on page 55 of his book, he says: 00:26:14.56\00:26:17.88 "There must be no favored location in the Universe," 00:26:17.92\00:26:21.21 "no center, no boundary. All must see the universealike." 00:26:21.41\00:26:27.35 What was it about what Hubble was saying, why didn't he want 00:26:27.88\00:26:31.71 to interpret his data so that there would be a reference point 00:26:31.74\00:26:35.54 in the Universe? 00:26:35.57\00:26:37.06 Well, that is a very very cognizant question for us all. 00:26:37.32\00:26:40.97 Here is a man, a world famous scientist who made a world 00:26:41.01\00:26:44.21 famous discovery and now he's coming in and saying the 00:26:44.24\00:26:47.37 obvious interpretation of that discovery is such that he's not 00:26:47.41\00:26:51.41 going to stand for a universal center, it's going to be 00:26:51.44\00:26:56.00 intolerable to think about that. 00:26:56.03\00:26:58.07 What did he do, he and others, in order to try to get rid 00:26:58.11\00:27:02.00 of the center? Let's look at the next slide. 00:27:02.03\00:27:04.22 They invented something, it was an idea, it was an invention. 00:27:05.41\00:27:09.25 They said: "Well, maybe we have the following. Maybe the space" 00:27:09.61\00:27:12.51 "is such that space is expanding. A box yesterday" 00:27:12.54\00:27:16.02 "would be smaller than it is today, and tomorrow it's going" 00:27:16.06\00:27:18.41 "to have a larger volume than it does today." And if you go 00:27:18.44\00:27:20.76 back in time, as you can see from this schematic here, 00:27:20.79\00:27:23.69 the box, there on the left, you see those little 00:27:23.91\00:27:27.43 bulbs there, yellow bulbs, those represent galaxies, 00:27:27.47\00:27:30.96 well supposedly, if the Universe government by this invention, 00:27:31.14\00:27:34.17 this space time expansion, volume is going to expand, 00:27:34.20\00:27:37.39 so in a year or 2 the volume is going to be bigger, 00:27:37.49\00:27:39.49 and therefore the galaxies are supposedly spreading out. 00:27:39.53\00:27:42.24 Then in the third box you can see that supposedly, 00:27:42.34\00:27:44.76 the galaxies themselves, the box has expanded, 00:27:44.79\00:27:47.14 space has expanded and you've got the galaxies moving away 00:27:47.18\00:27:50.04 from each other, so the idea was that they were trying 00:27:50.07\00:27:52.86 to punctuate at that particular time that indeed, the red shift 00:27:52.90\00:27:56.83 that Hubble was seeing through his telescope, he said, 00:27:56.86\00:27:59.81 and others said no matter where you are in the Universe, you're 00:27:59.85\00:28:02.99 going to see the same thing: all the galaxies moving away 00:28:03.02\00:28:05.89 from each other, no reference point whatsoever, 00:28:05.92\00:28:10.23 none whatsoever, no special point. 00:28:10.42\00:28:11.98 But if you look at the next slide, the real truth is very, 00:28:12.02\00:28:15.39 very simple to understand from this next schematic. 00:28:15.42\00:28:17.97 This is the way they pictured it, they said: 00:28:19.51\00:28:21.91 "We're going to have expansion. We're going to put pennies" 00:28:21.95\00:28:24.22 "on a balloon and we're going to expand the balloon." 00:28:24.25\00:28:26.17 "And so therefore the pennies will move apart, the galaxies" 00:28:26.27\00:28:29.32 "are going to move apart at the same time." 00:28:29.35\00:28:30.97 There's a huge flaw in this however, which David and I 00:28:31.01\00:28:33.81 have reported scientifically, and that's focally in the 00:28:33.85\00:28:36.62 next slide. 00:28:36.65\00:28:38.24 That is: if you had a projector and you put an image there 00:28:39.49\00:28:43.15 before the projector and let it show on the screen nearby, 00:28:43.19\00:28:46.82 you see the two galaxies there, but if you let it project 00:28:46.96\00:28:50.63 on a screen further away, what's going to happen? 00:28:50.66\00:28:53.49 You see not only do the, "galaxies" move apart, 00:28:53.67\00:28:56.09 the images move apart, but now the galaxies themselves expand 00:28:56.13\00:28:59.37 to almost nothing, so the bottom line is that if expansion 00:28:59.41\00:29:02.58 really, truly was, in fact if it really existed at all, 00:29:02.61\00:29:05.75 everything would have expanded away from everything else 00:29:06.15\00:29:08.34 to begin with, there never would have been 00:29:08.37\00:29:10.29 any galaxies whatsoever. 00:29:10.32\00:29:12.18 Now that's the simple way of looking at it, with a 00:29:12.25\00:29:14.27 simple illustration. 00:29:14.30\00:29:15.68 David and I have also published a scientific paper showing 00:29:15.72\00:29:18.83 that indeed this defect, this mathematical defect in this 00:29:18.87\00:29:21.95 whole idea of expansion. 00:29:21.98\00:29:24.02 There's an important point here to try to get across, 00:29:24.28\00:29:26.64 and it's kind of hard to do that in just 30 minutes, but you 00:29:26.68\00:29:30.47 have to think that the kind of expansion that Hubble 00:29:30.50\00:29:34.81 was proposing is a different kind of expansion then what 00:29:34.85\00:29:39.13 we are saying is really occurring. 00:29:39.33\00:29:41.83 We believe that there is an expansion, or a movement, 00:29:41.93\00:29:45.38 of the galaxies out from our galaxy, 00:29:45.41\00:29:48.38 that's what the red shift is. But Hubble didn't stop there, 00:29:48.75\00:29:53.21 he said there's not just a physical expansion of galaxies 00:29:53.24\00:29:56.98 moving away from each other, what we have here in operation 00:29:57.02\00:30:01.36 is actually an expansion of the fabric of space time itself. 00:30:01.40\00:30:05.71 Don't think too hard about that, just imagine that it's some 00:30:06.55\00:30:10.39 nebulous concept where the space itself is expanding, 00:30:10.74\00:30:15.34 the actual photons, the wavelength of light 00:30:15.37\00:30:17.80 as it's traversing through interstellar space is actually 00:30:17.84\00:30:20.86 stretching out, becoming more red. 00:30:21.06\00:30:23.79 It's a theoretical construct invented to try to get away 00:30:23.83\00:30:28.70 from a natural symmetry that you would expect to find 00:30:28.83\00:30:33.58 by interpreting the Hubble Relation 00:30:33.92\00:30:37.14 in a common sense fashion, that's about the best I can 00:30:37.29\00:30:41.28 put it. 00:30:41.31\00:30:42.33 The problem with this is that in Hubble's theory where you 00:30:42.52\00:30:46.16 have space-time expansion where the space itself is expanding, 00:30:46.20\00:30:49.81 galaxies would never have formed, now that goes utterly 00:30:50.47\00:30:55.12 against all observational cosmology, astronomy. 00:30:55.32\00:30:59.77 Galaxies are everywhere. 00:30:59.80\00:31:01.69 And because galaxies are everywhere, that in and of 00:31:01.79\00:31:05.54 itself should disprove what Hubble was trying to prove, 00:31:05.58\00:31:09.30 or trying to postulate by saying that saying that space time 00:31:09.62\00:31:12.24 was expanding with no reference point whatsoever. 00:31:12.58\00:31:16.47 Doesn't our next slide show, indeed, that we have galaxies, 00:31:16.59\00:31:21.49 and galaxies, and galaxies. 00:31:21.52\00:31:23.90 Hundreds and billions of galaxies throughout 00:31:24.13\00:31:26.06 the Universe. How long did it take 00:31:26.09\00:31:27.79 for those galaxies to form? According to the Big Bang 00:31:27.83\00:31:30.44 theory it took billions and billions and billions of years 00:31:30.48\00:31:33.19 for those galaxies to form. 00:31:33.22\00:31:34.97 According to the Bible, what does the Bible say 00:31:35.01\00:31:36.75 about God's creation? 00:31:36.78\00:31:38.15 Psalm 33:6 and 9 says: "By the word of the Lord" 00:31:38.35\00:31:40.94 "were the heavens made; and all the host of them" 00:31:40.97\00:31:43.49 "by the breath of His mouth. For He spake, and it was done;" 00:31:43.53\00:31:46.15 "He commanded, and it stood fast." 00:31:46.34\00:31:47.96 There's actually a statement in the Spirit of Prophecy 00:31:48.09\00:31:50.61 that says if all the heavens were basically blanked out, 00:31:50.65\00:31:53.10 washed away, God would call them again into existence in a moment 00:31:53.14\00:31:57.06 of time. 00:31:57.09\00:31:58.09 Again, if you take Hubble's data, the red shift data, 00:31:58.13\00:32:02.82 and you make a common sense conclusion out of it, 00:32:03.02\00:32:05.52 that conclusion is that we are close to, astronomically 00:32:05.56\00:32:08.79 speaking, the center of the Universe. 00:32:08.82\00:32:11.26 The thing that we want to focus on here though, 00:32:13.27\00:32:16.63 is that in this model that we have, it's a model where 00:32:16.97\00:32:21.39 the universeis expanding out, we're close to the center, 00:32:21.43\00:32:25.82 we want to relate what we see in science to what we read 00:32:26.41\00:32:30.30 in the Bible. Now that's something that 00:32:30.33\00:32:32.12 most scientists can't do because they believe that you can't 00:32:32.16\00:32:36.67 mix science and the Bible, they say you have to keep 00:32:36.70\00:32:40.27 religion and science separate, but we believe that you can 00:32:40.31\00:32:43.08 actually find harmony in science and the Bible. 00:32:43.11\00:32:47.25 That Revelation 20:11, when it says 00:32:47.28\00:32:49.82 "And I saw a great white throne" 00:32:49.85\00:32:52.36 that that white throne actually occupies a physical place 00:32:52.50\00:32:56.51 in the Universe, and we believe that that place just might be, 00:32:56.55\00:33:01.58 in our opinion, the center of the expansion itself. 00:33:01.70\00:33:05.77 You know, some of you may ask, if we're talking about 00:33:06.19\00:33:08.42 the center, we're talking about Hubble and so forth, 00:33:08.46\00:33:10.66 you might say: "Isn't there any other astronomer" 00:33:10.86\00:33:12.78 "in the world that's ever mentioned the center" 00:33:12.82\00:33:14.67 "of the Universe, and what do they have to say about it?" 00:33:14.71\00:33:16.64 In fact there is: Stephen Hawking, one of the world's 00:33:16.74\00:33:19.15 most famous scientist wrote his book "A brief history of time", 00:33:19.19\00:33:22.90 guess what he said on page 42, this is quoting: 00:33:23.18\00:33:26.55 "It might seem that if we observe all of the galaxies" 00:33:26.71\00:33:29.87 "to be moving away from us, then we must be at the center" 00:33:29.91\00:33:33.04 "of the Universe. There is however," 00:33:33.07\00:33:35.25 "an alternate explanation, the universemight look the same" 00:33:35.29\00:33:38.51 "whichever direction is seen from any other galaxy." 00:33:38.54\00:33:41.27 This was Friedman's second assumption, Hubble's second 00:33:41.31\00:33:44.06 assumption as well. 00:33:44.09\00:33:45.38 We have no scientific evidence for or against this assumption, 00:33:45.42\00:33:48.92 we believe it only on the grounds of modesty. 00:33:49.06\00:33:51.96 So there you have, Stephen Hawking comes out and he says: 00:33:52.00\00:33:55.72 Okay, it does look like using the red shift data the Earth 00:33:55.85\00:33:59.01 could be at the center of the Universe, but we don't want 00:33:59.04\00:34:02.17 to accept that because of modesty. 00:34:02.20\00:34:04.80 Our question is that do we want to use modesty as the basis 00:34:04.90\00:34:09.95 of our interpretation of the scientific data, or do we want 00:34:10.10\00:34:13.31 to just look at the scientific data and draw a common 00:34:13.34\00:34:16.24 sense conclusion, that's the question. 00:34:16.27\00:34:19.20 That common sense conclusion if based on verifiable 00:34:19.24\00:34:22.06 interpretation of the red shift which is the Doppler effect, 00:34:22.10\00:34:25.11 that's what we're saying is used here, and you do that 00:34:25.14\00:34:27.42 you come out with this nearby center. 00:34:27.52\00:34:29.27 So why would Hubble and why would Hawking, and why the other 00:34:29.40\00:34:32.63 modern astronomers since the day's of Hubble, why are they 00:34:32.67\00:34:35.87 fighting against this center of the Universe? 00:34:35.90\00:34:38.39 Maybe it's due to the fact that hundreds of years ago, 00:34:38.51\00:34:41.40 we all know about Napoleon Bonaparte, Napoleon had a very 00:34:41.64\00:34:45.43 very famous friend who was the French Mathematician, 00:34:45.46\00:34:48.50 Simon Laplace, he had written a very famous book: 00:34:48.53\00:34:51.54 "Celestial Mechanics", a huge volume. 00:34:51.66\00:34:54.87 And one day after Napoleon Bonaparte had read the book, 00:34:54.90\00:34:59.00 he went to Laplace and he said: "I've read your book, you've" 00:34:59.04\00:35:01.80 "got all these equations, you explained the planetary motions" 00:35:01.83\00:35:04.56 "of all the planets, all's well and fine and good," 00:35:04.59\00:35:07.06 "but where's God, I don't see you mentioning God." 00:35:07.09\00:35:09.53 Laplace said: "I have no need of that hypothesis." 00:35:09.57\00:35:13.45 That started the downward spiral of astronomy. 00:35:13.58\00:35:16.26 From that day on, many astronomers who feel they didn't 00:35:16.30\00:35:18.72 have any relationship at all with God, didn't want 00:35:18.75\00:35:20.81 the 10 commandments, didn't want to obey the God 00:35:20.85\00:35:22.84 of the Bible, they felt like they could exclude God from 00:35:22.88\00:35:26.45 the universeand miss the interpretations, 00:35:26.48\00:35:30.01 the interpretations that do speak of God. 00:35:30.04\00:35:33.54 So, let's look at Isaiah 44:24, it tells us something 00:35:33.66\00:35:37.91 about what we're talking about from the Biblical perspective. 00:35:37.95\00:35:41.84 [text on screen] 00:35:41.87\00:35:43.67 Very very quickly, we remember that when Moses was there 00:35:46.57\00:35:49.28 at the burning bush, and he asked God: 00:35:49.31\00:35:50.98 "Who shall You say sent me? 00:35:51.13\00:35:54.70 And what was the answer? "I am that I am." 00:35:54.78\00:35:57.15 The Old Testament name of God was given to Moses. 00:35:57.19\00:36:00.97 "I am" is the Lord who made all things. 00:36:01.00\00:36:03.43 Then in the New Testament we find that when Jesus was arguing 00:36:03.63\00:36:05.97 with the scribes and Pharisees. 00:36:06.00\00:36:07.47 John 8, He said at the very end of it: Abraham saw my day 00:36:09.61\00:36:13.07 and he was glad. And they said: You're not yet 00:36:13.10\00:36:14.74 50 years old and have you seen Abraham? 00:36:14.77\00:36:16.76 Jesus said before Abraham was, I am. 00:36:17.09\00:36:20.55 That's what we're talking about today, the great "I am" 00:36:20.59\00:36:23.12 who created the Universe, the great I am who gave the 00:36:23.16\00:36:25.66 10 commandments to Moses, the great I am who actually 00:36:25.76\00:36:28.48 formatted the universein such a way as to affirm that He is 00:36:28.52\00:36:32.18 the creator, the author of the 10 commandments. 00:36:32.21\00:36:35.27 So, the truth then as we look at the Universe, we have 00:36:35.42\00:36:38.05 a schematic here that shows very briefly what we're 00:36:38.08\00:36:40.75 getting at in terms of the motion of the galaxies 00:36:40.78\00:36:43.42 away from a nearby point. 00:36:43.62\00:36:45.94 That schematic is simply as follows, 00:36:49.14\00:36:51.39 David help me out a little bit on the lower axis here 00:36:51.43\00:36:54.13 to the right, we have what? 00:36:54.16\00:36:56.03 The increasing distance. 00:36:56.06\00:36:57.90 And the vertical axis we have. 00:36:58.02\00:37:00.13 Increasing red shift. 00:37:00.16\00:37:01.41 And those circles that are moving out along. 00:37:01.45\00:37:03.95 Those are depictions of galaxies, obviously you can see 00:37:04.26\00:37:06.90 the greater the distance as you go out, the more the red shift, 00:37:06.94\00:37:10.70 that's what we were talking about earlier, 00:37:10.73\00:37:13.96 that was Hubble's finding back in 1929. 00:37:13.99\00:37:17.19 Now you also see that green outer band there, 00:37:17.62\00:37:20.95 and it says something about the pre-Genesis galaxies. 00:37:20.99\00:37:24.43 Well, if you want to read about that after we get through, 00:37:24.57\00:37:28.22 you'll have to go to our website, I've got a long long 00:37:28.32\00:37:30.52 discussion about that. 00:37:30.55\00:37:32.13 Psalm 68:32 talks about the ancient heavens. 00:37:32.33\00:37:39.46 The Heavens of the old. 00:37:39.49\00:37:40.72 We're dealing now with the visible Universe, a Universe 00:37:41.44\00:37:44.76 that was created during creation week, then we go to 00:37:44.80\00:37:47.81 the logical conclusion that God creation the Universe 00:37:47.85\00:37:51.05 to reveal this nearby center, to reveal, we believe, 00:37:51.09\00:37:54.26 the presence, the nearness to the actual throne of God, 00:37:54.36\00:37:57.72 the great command center of the universeis located even within, 00:37:57.76\00:38:01.79 probably our own galaxy. 00:38:01.82\00:38:03.89 So, David how does that fit with another verse in the Bible? 00:38:03.93\00:38:08.47 Well it fits perfectly with what we read in Isaiah 40:26 00:38:08.50\00:38:13.01 [text on screen] 00:38:13.04\00:38:14.79 I think it's interesting to note that God numbers and names 00:38:28.60\00:38:33.46 every one of these galaxies and every one of the stars 00:38:33.72\00:38:39.23 within those galaxies, not one of them is lost from His 00:38:39.36\00:38:43.81 mind or memory. 00:38:43.84\00:38:45.50 Also David, from what you just ready it says: 00:38:45.83\00:38:48.78 "Life up your eyes and look to the heavens," 00:38:48.81\00:38:51.69 "who created all these." You see, the whole purpose 00:38:51.73\00:38:54.29 of what we're saying today is, that God indeed wants us to look 00:38:54.33\00:38:57.69 to the heavens and remember that in calling these 00:38:57.72\00:39:01.23 into existence during creation week, day 4, yes, 00:39:01.27\00:39:04.75 that we are to remind ourselves of the 7th day Sabbath. 00:39:04.87\00:39:08.36 Remember a few minutes ago when we showed all these beautiful 00:39:08.53\00:39:10.94 galaxies and nebulae and so forth, then we saw 00:39:10.97\00:39:13.02 the Hubble Deep Field; vast, vast distances to the outer 00:39:13.06\00:39:17.32 reaches of the Universe, 00:39:17.35\00:39:19.11 what does Psalm 103 say, that indeed, the heavens are what? 00:39:19.14\00:39:24.15 Higher than the Earth. 00:39:24.18\00:39:25.66 My thoughts are higher than your thoughts. 00:39:25.70\00:39:27.13 The heavens are higher than the Earth, that indeed, 00:39:27.17\00:39:29.38 My great love is as high as the heavens are from the Earth. 00:39:29.42\00:39:33.58 So we should understand that as we see the vast 00:39:33.61\00:39:36.34 distances of the universeand see the galaxies, God is 00:39:36.38\00:39:38.84 trying to help us to understand that his love is even higher 00:39:38.88\00:39:41.71 towards us than the distance to these vast galaxies. 00:39:41.74\00:39:45.46 So, as we look at this then, the actual distances themselves 00:39:45.79\00:39:51.02 and so forth, the question is, if God has chosen 00:39:51.05\00:39:55.05 the astronomical evidence of His dwelling place in the heavens, 00:39:55.09\00:39:57.60 did He also, David, begin in these last days 00:39:57.85\00:40:01.21 to provide something special, really special for us? 00:40:01.62\00:40:04.89 Well, it's interesting. Before proposing to you today 00:40:05.14\00:40:08.45 that there might be, and that there is, a special place 00:40:08.88\00:40:12.29 in the Universe, a center, and if that center is not 00:40:12.32\00:40:16.79 located on the Earth, perhaps we might have some clue 00:40:16.83\00:40:21.27 somewhere of where that center might be located. 00:40:21.37\00:40:24.03 Now we have no way of starting this search, except by going 00:40:24.25\00:40:28.84 either to the Bible, or perhaps maybe to the major news media. 00:40:28.87\00:40:33.43 What are the astronomers themselves saying about 00:40:33.46\00:40:36.22 the Universe? 00:40:36.25\00:40:37.54 Our attention is drawn to a particular new series of news 00:40:38.05\00:40:43.19 articles that started a long time ago, but one of the most 00:40:43.22\00:40:48.33 prominent news article that we're going to discuss, 00:40:48.36\00:40:51.08 is the one that was one the cover of nature magazine 00:40:51.11\00:40:53.80 back in 1993. 00:40:53.83\00:40:55.91 It was a photograph of a very special place in the heavens, 00:40:55.95\00:40:59.46 a very special place in the nebula, the Great Nebula, Orion. 00:40:59.55\00:41:03.71 The Australian astronomers, David Allan and Michel Burton 00:41:03.92\00:41:07.51 photographed this very special place in 00:41:07.75\00:41:11.19 the Orion Nebula, and again, took a long time to try to find 00:41:11.23\00:41:15.83 a name for this particular structure. 00:41:15.86\00:41:20.58 They finally came to a name, but in the process 00:41:21.08\00:41:26.10 this finding was actually featured in the Nature magazine, 00:41:26.93\00:41:32.48 and it was also featured in the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper 00:41:33.87\00:41:37.41 there in Australia, where they quoted these astronomers 00:41:37.44\00:41:40.69 saying the quote: "Seeing the hand of God was thrilling." 00:41:41.04\00:41:46.05 Well, you can imagine what they ended up naming this structure. 00:41:46.27\00:41:50.12 They named it "The Hand of God". So, we're just going to go 00:41:50.24\00:41:55.22 ahead and let the astronomers of the world direct our 00:41:55.25\00:41:58.98 attention to the Hand of God. The Hand of God is located 00:41:59.02\00:42:02.80 in the Great Orion Nebula. Our attention is focused now 00:42:02.83\00:42:05.98 on the Great Orion Nebula. Now we have some other reasons 00:42:06.02\00:42:09.14 to focus our attention on that nebula as SDA's, 00:42:09.17\00:42:12.05 we're going to be talking about those in a minute. 00:42:12.09\00:42:14.94 David, let's look at this a little bit more. 00:42:15.14\00:42:16.71 The square up there to the upper right is where the Hand 00:42:19.26\00:42:22.15 of God is, we can see in the left hand frame, why it 00:42:22.18\00:42:24.89 resembles the hand, and the fingers and so forth, 00:42:24.93\00:42:27.61 the box up there to the upper right shows the position 00:42:27.77\00:42:31.13 of the Hand of God with respect to the Trapezium. 00:42:31.16\00:42:36.33 Tell us what the Trapezium is. 00:42:39.86\00:42:41.48 Alright, those 4 stars there, we're going to see them 00:42:41.52\00:42:43.65 in greater depth and greater clarity in just a few minutes, 00:42:43.69\00:42:47.30 but something unusual, the Hand of God actually there, 00:42:47.48\00:42:50.35 photographed, and these astronomers were not Christians. 00:42:50.45\00:42:53.70 They were not believers at all. So let's go on now, 00:42:53.73\00:42:56.75 what is really most interesting about this discovery is 00:42:57.44\00:43:00.85 there was a friend of mine, Dr. John Eisley, who worked at 00:43:00.95\00:43:03.80 the US Naval Research Laboratory in the 1980's, 00:43:03.83\00:43:07.42 and he was attracted to Orion, and I want to read 00:43:08.00\00:43:12.21 some of the things that John Eisley wrote in his book 00:43:12.41\00:43:15.21 "Marvels and Mysteries of Orion", listen to what he said: 00:43:15.31\00:43:18.69 "In my opinion, God is deliberately attracting our" 00:43:19.03\00:43:21.58 "attention to the direction of Orion" 00:43:21.61\00:43:24.45 "and the Great Orion Nebula, that wonderful place" 00:43:24.49\00:43:28.06 "that has fascinated astronomers for hundreds of years." 00:43:28.32\00:43:31.53 "It commands our serious interest and study." 00:43:32.17\00:43:34.89 "I believe it is a unique and important training ground" 00:43:34.93\00:43:37.27 "for spiritual, as well as physical truth." 00:43:37.30\00:43:39.53 Remember now, this was written in 1988. 00:43:39.57\00:43:41.77 "At the present time, the scientific community was" 00:43:42.54\00:43:44.41 "conducting most intensive study of Orion, by using the latest" 00:43:44.45\00:43:47.39 "equipment in space, represented a very large investment" 00:43:47.42\00:43:50.14 "of human effort, and I strongly believe the Holy Spirit" 00:43:50.17\00:43:53.10 "is leading out here. It is therefore not unreasonable" 00:43:53.14\00:43:56.48 "to expect," - 1988- "the obvious when it happens." 00:43:56.52\00:43:59.79 "I think in many subtle ways, God is attracting the whole" 00:43:59.83\00:44:02.42 "world's attention to this direction in the sky that He's" 00:44:02.46\00:44:06.02 "using modern secular science as an indisputable witness." 00:44:06.06\00:44:09.59 "There's abundant evidence that something very special" 00:44:09.73\00:44:12.05 "is happening there in Orion, and it's surroundings" 00:44:12.09\00:44:14.34 "will be constantly monitored for the next several decades." 00:44:14.38\00:44:16.83 Therefore people on Earth should not be surprised by future" 00:44:16.95\00:44:20.51 "discoveries when they do occur." published 1988. 00:44:20.54\00:44:24.24 The Hand of God discovery was made in 1993, 00:44:24.41\00:44:28.07 but is there a reason why John Eisley would write these 00:44:28.20\00:44:31.65 particular words, and the answer is "Yes!" 00:44:31.68\00:44:33.92 John Eisley was an SDA, and [?], 00:44:33.95\00:44:36.27 a very faithful Seventh Day Adventist, and he read many 00:44:36.31\00:44:39.22 books written by people who were SDA's, some of which 00:44:39.26\00:44:42.28 were written by Mrs. Ellen G. White, who a lot of people 00:44:42.32\00:44:45.31 believe had the gift of prophecy. 00:44:45.34\00:44:47.29 She wrote a book back in 1848, and David, do you want 00:44:47.33\00:44:51.73 to tell us little about what we find there. 00:44:51.76\00:44:54.28 Right. Of course, we don't expect people who are not 00:44:54.32\00:44:57.87 Adventist to necessarily be impressed by what Ellen White 00:44:57.91\00:45:02.42 has written, but it's at least interesting, 00:45:02.45\00:45:05.09 it's at least interesting that what she says here 00:45:05.13\00:45:07.72 is going to relate very specifically to what modern 00:45:08.10\00:45:12.05 astronomers are now describing when they talk about 00:45:12.09\00:45:16.01 the Great Orion Nebula and specifically on page 41 00:45:16.14\00:45:20.95 of this book "Early Writings", from 1848, she writes 00:45:20.98\00:45:25.76 the following, she says: "Dark, heavy clouds", 00:45:25.79\00:45:29.17 and now she's talking about the time of Earth history 00:45:29.47\00:45:32.55 when we're at the very end of the point, right before Jesus 00:45:32.59\00:45:37.75 comes back, she writes: "Dark, heavy clouds came up" 00:45:37.78\00:45:41.23 "and clashed against each other. The atmosphere parted" 00:45:41.27\00:45:44.69 "and rolled back. Then we looked up through the open" 00:45:44.89\00:45:51.03 "space in Orion, whence came the voice of God." 00:45:51.06\00:45:55.70 "The Holy City will come down through that open space." 00:45:57.49\00:46:01.99 Well, we can see that there are some very deep issues 00:46:02.91\00:46:05.94 dealt with here: dark, heavy clouds, atmosphere parted, 00:46:06.04\00:46:09.45 the people of God looking up through the open space, 00:46:09.59\00:46:12.50 and today we're only going to deal with the open space 00:46:13.06\00:46:15.81 in Orion. John Isely reasoned it was 00:46:15.84\00:46:18.16 somewhere in the trapezium shown in the photograph there 00:46:18.20\00:46:20.84 that we were just looking at. 00:46:20.87\00:46:22.56 Recently, NASA has released a new picture of Orion made up of 00:46:30.63\00:46:35.52 many many shots of the Orion Nebula, and we want to focus 00:46:35.55\00:46:40.41 on these very briefly at this present time 00:46:40.44\00:46:42.50 because of what the astronomers themselves have to say 00:46:42.54\00:46:47.14 about the nebula. 00:46:47.45\00:46:49.43 Here's the one that has been made a composite of, 00:46:51.12\00:46:54.34 and here's what's been said by NASA scientists: 00:46:54.37\00:46:57.56 "The Nebula's out most layers of gas and dust" 00:46:58.17\00:47:00.30 "appear as a grayish veil" - you can see that to the left - 00:47:00.34\00:47:04.25 "that forms a prominent curve. Descending in like the rim" 00:47:04.28\00:47:08.16 "of a giant card bowl. Descending into the bowl" 00:47:08.19\00:47:10.61 "we encounter a plateau-like region, the bright central" 00:47:10.65\00:47:13.41 "cavern takes us deeper yet. It is the home of the 4 massive" 00:47:13.45\00:47:18.30 "stars in Orion, the Trapezium. The light unleashed" 00:47:18.33\00:47:21.69 "by new stars is carving a cavity around them." 00:47:21.72\00:47:25.02 "We say the following," now this is on 00:47:25.46\00:47:27.06 an "stsci.eu" website, it's saying in an amazing way 00:47:27.10\00:47:32.33 this description confirms that Orion Nebula is accurately 00:47:32.37\00:47:36.30 characterized as having an open space, and if that was 00:47:36.33\00:47:40.20 not enough, astronomers, NASA astronomers have taken 00:47:40.24\00:47:43.60 the photographs of the Orion Nebula, converted them into 00:47:43.63\00:47:46.91 their spatial frames and this has led to the production 00:47:46.94\00:47:50.19 of a 3 dimensional view of the nebula that proves 00:47:50.22\00:47:53.48 beyond doubt, that the Orion Nebula does have an amazing 00:47:53.52\00:47:58.70 open space. 00:47:58.80\00:48:00.31 We're going to move very very quickly now to the end 00:48:00.35\00:48:02.83 of the program. Suppose, indeed, we want to go 00:48:02.86\00:48:05.36 finding out exactly what's going to happen as we go through 00:48:05.76\00:48:08.56 the Orion Nebula, and go to the throne of God. 00:48:08.59\00:48:12.03 Okay, as we're leaving the Earth here, we see the Sun 00:48:12.06\00:48:15.48 to our right, and of course, we will pass the Earth. 00:48:15.52\00:48:18.92 Now approaching the Sun, and you can see the Orion Nebula 00:48:19.21\00:48:24.03 past the sun. As we pass the Sun, 00:48:24.50\00:48:26.16 we're probably going about 100 times the speed of light 00:48:26.20\00:48:29.81 in this animation, and approaching the Orion Nebula 00:48:29.84\00:48:33.38 in order for this to actually be in real time, the individual 00:48:33.42\00:48:37.39 stars of the Orion Nebula will be passing at different 00:48:37.42\00:48:40.33 times because they're at different distances from 00:48:40.36\00:48:43.10 the Earth, but it's actually in the sword of Orion, 00:48:43.14\00:48:45.85 the middle star of the sword of Orion 00:48:45.88\00:48:48.57 that is the Orion Nebula, we're approaching it here, 00:48:48.86\00:48:52.12 coming closer, coming closer. 00:48:52.80\00:48:55.02 The Orion Nebula is 1500 light years from the Earth. 00:48:55.12\00:48:58.84 That cavern that we were just talking about is actually 00:48:58.87\00:49:02.56 100 light years wide. 00:49:02.59\00:49:04.73 You go into the center of that cavern, we're circling around 00:49:05.02\00:49:08.40 the trapezium cluster here, this is actually something 00:49:08.43\00:49:11.01 you can see with a home telescope if you're interested 00:49:11.04\00:49:13.59 in looking at it, you won't see the nebulosity, 00:49:13.62\00:49:16.10 but you will see the trapezium. Going through the trapezium, 00:49:16.14\00:49:19.22 through, continuing past the trapezium, 00:49:19.46\00:49:22.40 this is, of course, animation depicting what it might 00:49:22.81\00:49:27.12 look like as we come to the area that as Christians 00:49:27.22\00:49:33.29 we would call heaven, to the throne, the city New Jerusalem 00:49:33.33\00:49:36.96 with the foundations of precious stones, the gates 00:49:36.99\00:49:40.88 of pearl, approaching now to the temple in the New Jerusalem. 00:49:40.92\00:49:47.17 The Sanctuary, and as we go to the Sanctuary, what are we 00:49:48.86\00:49:51.85 going to end up with? There is, indeed, 00:49:51.88\00:49:54.10 right before us, Christ, the Great High Priest 00:49:54.14\00:49:56.72 and the 10 Commandments. 00:49:57.32\00:50:01.18 [Audience Claps] 00:50:01.21\00:50:03.52 You see, these are the great fundamental beliefs that SDA's 00:50:05.20\00:50:08.18 began with 150 years ago, that 4th commandment 00:50:08.21\00:50:11.44 is standing there, outside of the Ark of the Testament, 00:50:11.48\00:50:14.55 Revelation 11:18: "I looked and I saw the Temple" 00:50:14.80\00:50:18.19 "of the Tabernacle, 00:50:18.22\00:50:20.61 "and there was seen the Ark of the Testament." 00:50:20.65\00:50:22.82 There is the original set of the 10 commandments 00:50:22.85\00:50:24.99 right there in the throne room of heaven. 00:50:25.14\00:50:27.41 It can't be changed, there's no way that the Sabbath could 00:50:27.45\00:50:30.57 ever be made the Sunday, or any other day, because there 00:50:30.61\00:50:33.70 it is, fixed right before the throne of God. 00:50:33.73\00:50:36.62 Jesus Christ Himself, the author of them all, 00:50:36.65\00:50:39.47 ministering before the Ark of the Covenant, the Mercy Seat, 00:50:39.51\00:50:43.75 it's still there, and guess what else. 00:50:43.78\00:50:45.95 Remember in the early part of Revelation 1, John says: 00:50:45.99\00:50:49.50 "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." 00:50:49.53\00:50:53.15 That's the first part of the book of Revelation here, 00:50:53.19\00:50:56.13 and in Revelation 11:19 we have the Ark of the Covenant. 00:50:56.16\00:50:59.07 Do we all understand then, that the Lord's day and 00:50:59.10\00:51:01.97 the Ark of the Covenant in Revelation 11:19 is the same 00:51:02.01\00:51:05.57 as the Lord's day in Revelation 1:7. 00:51:05.67\00:51:08.72 There's no way that anyone could call any day 00:51:08.76\00:51:11.00 "the Lord's day", except the 4th commandment's Sabbath day, 00:51:11.04\00:51:15.36 which is till fixed there, in the center of the throne room 00:51:15.46\00:51:18.35 of heaven. 00:51:18.38\00:51:19.35 Christ, our Great High Priest, 00:51:19.38\00:51:21.12 God created the universeso we could focus our attention, 00:51:21.69\00:51:24.52 astronomically, on the great truths just before He comes back 00:51:24.55\00:51:27.35 again. David, after we're there 00:51:27.38\00:51:29.71 what's going to happen in return? 00:51:29.87\00:51:32.50 Well, of course, Jesus at the time of the second coming 00:51:32.77\00:51:36.31 will step out of the Most Holy place, He'll take off the robe 00:51:36.49\00:51:41.99 that He has one, and put on the kingly garments 00:51:42.02\00:51:45.00 and with His angels He will begin to come to the Earth. 00:51:45.10\00:51:50.68 We have a little computer animation which depicts what 00:51:50.71\00:51:56.26 that might look like. 00:51:56.29\00:51:57.27 Of course, Jesus leaving the new Jerusalem there, 00:51:57.31\00:51:59.59 coming through the open space in Orion, 00:52:00.84\00:52:04.53 coming through there, there's the trapezium now, 00:52:06.98\00:52:10.15 as you exit Orion, that great ball configuration 00:52:11.51\00:52:16.28 leaving the Great Orion Nebula, surrounding Jesus 00:52:17.33\00:52:22.01 on His return will be millions and millions of angels 00:52:22.05\00:52:26.70 surrounding Him. 00:52:26.73\00:52:28.15 As Jesus Himself, speeds towards the Earth at thousands of times 00:52:28.73\00:52:34.20 the speed of light... [audience claps and cheers] 00:52:34.23\00:52:37.14 ...He will have to slow down as He approaches the Earth. 00:52:40.97\00:52:44.75 Coming through the solar system, He passes the Sun, 00:52:44.78\00:52:47.82 of course, doing many times the speed of light, until he gets 00:52:48.22\00:52:51.21 close to the Earth, slows down, the people on the Earth 00:52:51.24\00:52:54.36 will at first see a dark cloud, and as that dark cloud 00:52:54.39\00:52:57.44 gets a little closer, a little brighter, a little brighter, 00:52:57.48\00:53:00.31 and it finally lights up the sky [audience claps and cheers] 00:53:00.34\00:53:03.14 and as it lights up the sky, those people who are alive 00:53:03.88\00:53:07.14 and waiting for Jesus and have been faithful to His 00:53:07.18\00:53:09.86 10 commandments, will welcome Him, they'll say: 00:53:09.90\00:53:12.37 "Lo, here's our God, we have waited for Him." 00:53:12.41\00:53:14.85 His appearing though, will be as a consuming fire 00:53:14.99\00:53:18.77 to those who are afraid of his coming, to those who have not 00:53:18.81\00:53:23.11 kept His 10 commandments. 00:53:23.21\00:53:25.30 In Revelation 14:12: "Here is the patience of the saints," 00:53:25.60\00:53:30.39 "here are they that keep the commandments of God" 00:53:30.42\00:53:33.13 "and have the faith of Jesus."
