Tonight we're going to be 00:08:02.78\00:08:05.11 talking about that very first commandment, 00:08:05.14\00:08:07.40 you have your Bibles with you, I invite you to take your Bibles 00:08:07.44\00:08:10.63 and turn with me, and while you're turning there, 00:08:10.66\00:08:12.77 let me give you that setting. First of all, 00:08:12.80\00:08:17.97 you have Israel going to Egypt, becomes a great nation. 00:08:18.01\00:08:21.29 There's probably 2 million people. 600,000 men, 00:08:21.32\00:08:24.39 putting the women, and the children, etc, 00:08:24.42\00:08:26.40 you've probably got 2 million people, plus all their animals, 00:08:26.44\00:08:29.34 their herds, their flocks, getting ready to leave Egypt, 00:08:29.37\00:08:32.58 wanting to leave Egypt, but waiting on the permission 00:08:32.62\00:08:35.52 of the king, and finally, God has to be the man's arm 00:08:35.56\00:08:38.43 up behind his back with 10 mighty plagues 00:08:38.46\00:08:41.59 that destroys the land of Egypt. 00:08:41.62\00:08:44.09 They come to that awful horror at the end 00:08:44.77\00:08:47.30 where every first born child is destroyed by the destroying 00:08:47.34\00:08:50.62 angel, God's people are protected. 00:08:50.65\00:08:53.24 Out they go, out of Egypt. The Egyptians are saying 00:08:53.55\00:08:56.18 "we're glad you're going. Please go, lest we're all dead. 00:08:56.22\00:09:01.03 " But then the king gathers his mind, along with his priests, 00:09:01.07\00:09:05.85 and they said "Why'd you do that?" 00:09:06.31\00:09:08.04 "That was probably some natural phenomenon. " 00:09:09.03\00:09:11.16 Can you believe how stubborn sin makes people? 00:09:11.20\00:09:15.77 Stubborn! 00:09:16.79\00:09:18.80 He gets a whole Egyptian army, goes to chase them. 00:09:19.47\00:09:21.85 The cloud comes down between them, God opens the Red Sea, 00:09:21.89\00:09:25.23 Israel walks through on dry land, and then they watch 00:09:25.26\00:09:27.86 from the other side those long knives that would have 00:09:27.90\00:09:30.47 cut them and their families to pieces, 00:09:30.50\00:09:32.82 they end up being drowned in the Red Sea. 00:09:33.07\00:09:36.08 A few days later they find themselves in front of 00:09:36.12\00:09:39.11 Mt. Horeb, in front of Mt. Sinai. 00:09:39.14\00:09:42.56 There's not words enough in the English language, 00:09:44.07\00:09:46.31 perhaps any language, to describe that awesome scene, 00:09:46.35\00:09:49.02 we use the word "awesome" so loosely today, 00:09:49.05\00:09:51.99 but that grand and marvelous scene, where God Himself, 00:09:52.03\00:09:55.75 the Creator of the universe, comes down on that mountain 00:09:55.79\00:09:59.48 and begins to speak to His own people, His own law, 00:10:01.03\00:10:05.93 His own covenant law. Exodus 20, 00:10:05.96\00:10:13.43 looking at verse 2 and 3. 00:10:13.46\00:10:16.92 I want to quote the whole verse: 00:10:18.12\00:10:19.40 [text on screen] 00:10:19.43\00:10:21.40 When God met Moses at the burning bush and He says 00:10:38.94\00:10:41.97 "Moses, I want you to go take My people out of Egypt. " 00:10:42.01\00:10:45.01 Moses said "What will I tell them when they ask me" 00:10:45.12\00:10:48.01 "who sent me?" And the Lord said: 00:10:48.04\00:10:51.58 "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac," 00:10:51.62\00:10:54.04 "and the God of Jacob," but He says, 00:10:54.07\00:10:56.22 "You tell them that 'I Am that I Am' has sent you. " 00:10:56.26\00:11:02.25 And then you hear the Messiah as He's challenged 00:11:04.59\00:11:08.37 by the religious leaders of His day: Where did You 00:11:08.41\00:11:12.16 get that authority? 00:11:12.19\00:11:14.58 And He responded by saying "Before Abraham was," 00:11:15.91\00:11:20.50 "I am. " 00:11:20.53\00:11:22.70 When you see in caps, at least in my version of scripture, 00:11:25.38\00:11:30.36 "LORD", that is "Yahweh ways, we say it in modern terms, 00:11:30.39\00:11:35.65 meaning "The One who is. " 00:11:35.68\00:11:39.41 I kind of like the old term "Jehovah", 00:11:40.84\00:11:44.63 which means "The One who was, The One who is," 00:11:45.96\00:11:49.51 "and the One who shall be. " 00:11:49.54\00:11:52.65 The truth is that it's not that God is unwilling to share us, 00:11:55.05\00:12:03.01 the truth is there are no other gods. 00:12:04.15\00:12:11.02 He can only tell us the truth. 00:12:11.05\00:12:14.31 He is the only one. Period. 00:12:16.10\00:12:22.65 Somebody might say, "Where did all these other gods" 00:12:23.46\00:12:25.39 "come from?" Because man invented them. 00:12:25.42\00:12:28.76 Or supernatural beings that are not gods, have deceived us. 00:12:30.22\00:12:37.19 But those other gods that were invented by man, 00:12:43.11\00:12:44.94 they don't exist, they're like superman, 00:12:44.97\00:12:46.95 they're still in the DVD. 00:12:46.98\00:12:49.06 They're not in reality. 00:12:49.09\00:12:51.14 But God is in reality. 00:12:52.58\00:12:54.95 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 00:12:57.72\00:13:00.73 I don't want to offend anybody, but I want to tell you 00:13:00.76\00:13:04.48 that when God chose to reveal Himself, 00:13:04.70\00:13:07.19 He revealed Himself to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, 00:13:07.23\00:13:11.19 and to their children. He didn't reveal Himself 00:13:11.22\00:13:15.50 in Africa, not that God wasn't at work in Africa, 00:13:15.54\00:13:19.75 He didn't reveal Himself in Europe, He's at work in Europe, 00:13:19.79\00:13:22.68 He didn't reveal Himself in Asia, God is at work in Asia, 00:13:22.71\00:13:25.57 but He revealed Himself to the Jewish people, 00:13:25.87\00:13:28.90 and to the fathers of the Jewish people. 00:13:28.93\00:13:31.01 The giving of the 10 commandments, however, 00:13:31.74\00:13:34.01 was not just for the Jewish people alone. 00:13:34.04\00:13:36.28 The giving of the 10 commandments was for everybody, 00:13:36.38\00:13:39.20 they were to be God's ambassadors, and to share that 00:13:39.23\00:13:42.02 with the world. 00:13:42.05\00:13:43.06 The apostle Paul says in Romans 3 that they were 00:13:43.10\00:13:45.66 especially blessed because they had the oracles of God. 00:13:45.70\00:13:51.32 So, you see, the Jewish people are like a symbol 00:13:51.75\00:13:55.14 of the whole world, they're a symbol of all of us. 00:13:55.17\00:13:58.53 Their history is our history, their promises are our promises, 00:13:59.78\00:14:04.35 their hopes are our hopes, their failures are our failures, 00:14:04.38\00:14:08.92 their redemption is our redemption 00:14:08.95\00:14:11.18 because their God is our God, and He's the only God. 00:14:11.22\00:14:16.17 "I am the Lord your God who brought you... " 00:14:17.71\00:14:22.74 So where did you come from anyway? 00:14:23.04\00:14:25.10 Because I came from my mamma and my daddy, 00:14:25.29\00:14:26.83 where did they come from? 00:14:26.86\00:14:28.90 All your ancestors just simply showed up like you did one day. 00:14:29.38\00:14:33.26 They didn't bring themselves into existence. 00:14:34.75\00:14:37.68 There's a mighty God who spoke us into existence, 00:14:40.72\00:14:45.31 who designed our genes with a language so complicated 00:14:45.34\00:14:48.94 that it's more complicated than the one I'm speaking. 00:14:48.97\00:14:52.54 In fact, after all of that money that we've spent 00:14:54.62\00:14:57.46 on evolution, who knows the billions of dollars, 00:14:57.50\00:15:00.45 all the great institutions, all the learned doctors, 00:15:00.49\00:15:03.41 I'm not making fun of anybody, I'm just saying this is 00:15:03.45\00:15:06.12 just the way it is. 00:15:06.15\00:15:08.18 All the effort to convince the American people, 00:15:08.40\00:15:12.10 and world-wide people: people from the Philippines, 00:15:12.14\00:15:15.60 all of that money that's been spent to tell everybody 00:15:15.64\00:15:19.07 that we have all, somehow, made ourselves 00:15:19.10\00:15:21.33 what we are, through the evolutionistic process. 00:15:21.37\00:15:25.51 Still, only 20% of the American people believe it. 00:15:26.69\00:15:32.90 The other 80% don't believe it. 00:15:32.93\00:15:35.45 Do you know why? Because they can look around them, 00:15:36.59\00:15:39.41 they can look at a flower, they say "I don't think" 00:15:39.44\00:15:42.23 "that just happened. " 00:15:42.26\00:15:44.31 They can look at the trees, and the forests, 00:15:44.35\00:15:45.91 they can see God's creations and the birds flying, 00:15:45.95\00:15:47.83 and say "I don't think that just happened", 00:15:47.86\00:15:49.28 and they can hold a new born baby in their hands and say 00:15:49.32\00:15:51.76 "I don't think that happened. " 00:15:51.79\00:15:53.74 As they come to the conclusion that evolution is just plain, 00:15:54.83\00:15:58.85 no offence, foolish... now that's the nice way 00:15:59.45\00:16:03.61 of saying it. 00:16:03.64\00:16:05.22 Listen, you're very heartbeat is in the hands of the Creator. 00:16:08.73\00:16:15.13 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land" 00:16:16.05\00:16:21.07 "of Egypt. " 00:16:21.10\00:16:22.07 What are we doing in Egypt? 00:16:22.08\00:16:23.92 I thought we were supposed to be in the Garden of Eden, 00:16:24.02\00:16:26.69 well Egypt is Sin City. 00:16:26.96\00:16:29.01 And what is sin? How did we get there? 00:16:29.88\00:16:32.56 The scripture teaches us that sin is the transgression 00:16:32.60\00:16:37.85 of the law, we'll talk about that later. 00:16:37.88\00:16:40.34 We can hear the cry of Egypt, not of ignorance, 00:16:41.70\00:16:46.96 but of defiance: "Who is the Lord," 00:16:46.99\00:16:51.61 "that I should obey him?" their pharaoh cried out. 00:16:51.65\00:16:55.06 Let me tell you, that's the cry of our world today. 00:16:55.09\00:16:58.47 Everybody wants to invent their own gods, 00:16:58.70\00:17:00.77 have their own gods, do their own thing. 00:17:00.81\00:17:02.81 You can't do your own thing and have the God as your God, 00:17:02.85\00:17:05.44 you have to do His thing if He's your God. 00:17:05.47\00:17:08.55 That's the cry of our world: "We have our own gods," 00:17:14.98\00:17:18.40 "thank you. We have the lusts of the flesh. " 00:17:18.43\00:17:21.93 Our world is filled with gluttony and sexual perversion, 00:17:21.97\00:17:26.00 we have the lusts of the eyes, our TV's, our living rooms, 00:17:26.03\00:17:30.03 are filled with electronics gadgetry, the video games, 00:17:30.06\00:17:33.91 our movies, we have the boastful pride of life, 00:17:33.94\00:17:37.62 we flaunt our education, we flaunt our money, 00:17:37.65\00:17:41.30 and we are the "look at me" generation. 00:17:41.33\00:17:44.46 I'm telling you, the "look at me" generation 00:17:44.50\00:17:47.91 may be the last generation on planet Earth. 00:17:47.94\00:17:51.32 The problem with Egypt is that while it has its onions 00:17:51.60\00:17:55.96 and its watermelons and other things, it's also got 00:17:55.99\00:18:00.32 a mean side. 00:18:00.35\00:18:02.28 Egypt is filled with violence 00:18:03.63\00:18:06.26 and hearts that are evil, continually. 00:18:06.30\00:18:08.54 It's filled with funeral homes and graveyards and jails, 00:18:08.58\00:18:13.06 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you" 00:18:16.19\00:18:21.85 "out of the land of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage. " 00:18:21.89\00:18:28.89 Listen, before you can obey, you've got to be redeemed 00:18:30.25\00:18:34.60 from slavery. Redemption has to come first, 00:18:34.63\00:18:38.72 because we've got a problem: we're not able to obey 00:18:38.76\00:18:43.22 on our own, that's why God delivered Israel from Egypt, 00:18:43.25\00:18:46.97 because under the power of Pharaoh, they had no power 00:18:47.00\00:18:50.69 to obey Him, so He took them out; 00:18:50.72\00:18:53.55 So the Lord, God, has to take us out, and create a new heart 00:18:53.59\00:18:57.73 in us. 00:18:57.76\00:18:59.22 We were created to be free, but we aught to call sin 00:18:59.26\00:19:03.14 what it is: it is slavery, it's mean, it's nasty, 00:19:03.34\00:19:07.56 you might think you're in charge of yourself, but the truth is 00:19:07.60\00:19:10.68 that if you're a sinner, you're enslaved to those sins. 00:19:10.71\00:19:15.47 Sin is our willful violation of God's law, and it always 00:19:16.24\00:19:21.87 makes slaves out of us. 00:19:21.90\00:19:23.63 1 John 3:4 says, in these short words, easy to understand, 00:19:23.67\00:19:29.09 not hard to misunderstand: [text on screen]. 00:19:29.12\00:19:32.79 What is lawlessness? It's rebellion against God's law. 00:19:35.44\00:19:39.81 I'm happy to see Christian churches all across America 00:19:39.84\00:19:44.18 saying "it's about time we talked" 00:19:44.21\00:19:45.55 "about the 10 commandments. " 00:19:45.58\00:19:48.39 Some of us have been saying that for a long time. 00:19:49.78\00:19:53.05 "We have a problem, however," as Martin Luther, 00:19:54.07\00:19:56.59 the great reformer said, "we breathe the very vapors" 00:19:56.63\00:19:59.68 "of sin," and people have listened to the Beatitudes 00:19:59.72\00:20:02.49 of Jesus, and heard that first Beatitudes that says 00:20:02.53\00:20:04.80 "Blessed are the poor in spirit", understand what 00:20:04.84\00:20:07.04 I'm going to say next, because when you are poor in spirit 00:20:07.08\00:20:09.96 you understand that you have poverty of soul, 00:20:09.99\00:20:13.05 and you understand that you can't save yourself, 00:20:13.08\00:20:16.07 you understand that somehow, someway, you've got to have 00:20:16.11\00:20:19.44 a savior. 00:20:19.47\00:20:21.46 Listen, the result of Egyptian rebellion was to bring 00:20:26.35\00:20:32.25 on themselves 10 suffering plagues, 00:20:32.28\00:20:35.90 and that's what sin has done to the rest of us; 00:20:35.94\00:20:39.33 sin plagues us with its suffering. 00:20:39.52\00:20:43.08 Sometimes you want to cry out, you hear the sirens go down 00:20:43.77\00:20:46.54 the road, as you attend the funerals, as you see people 00:20:46.58\00:20:49.48 struck down with disease and difficulty, and you see all 00:20:49.52\00:20:52.39 the problems and the heartaches, 00:20:52.42\00:20:54.97 you want to cry out, you say: 00:20:55.51\00:20:57.25 "Oh Lord, God, somebody help us, somebody take these plagues" 00:20:57.29\00:21:02.01 "away from us. " 00:21:02.04\00:21:03.01 Every time that God delivered Pharaoh from one of those 00:21:03.02\00:21:06.10 plagues, the scripture says that he hardened his heart. 00:21:06.13\00:21:09.22 We need a new heart. 00:21:13.34\00:21:15.61 You know this from Isaiah 53, Jesus was bruised for our 00:21:16.23\00:21:19.73 transgressions, wounded for our iniquities, 00:21:19.76\00:21:23.11 and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, 00:21:23.14\00:21:26.42 and I love this next part best, with His stripes we are healed. 00:21:26.46\00:21:35.54 He doesn't just forgive our sins, He heals us 00:21:36.10\00:21:39.04 from the awful iniquities. 00:21:39.07\00:21:41.68 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the house" 00:21:43.45\00:21:46.05 "of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. " 00:21:46.08\00:21:48.85 "Thou shalt not... " 00:21:48.88\00:21:52.91 We don't like "no". I've had people on [Call time?] 00:21:53.09\00:21:55.49 say "can't you put that in a positive way?" 00:21:55.52\00:21:58.12 You ever had anybody say that to you? 00:21:58.15\00:22:00.45 "Can't get that a little more positive?" 00:22:00.48\00:22:02.71 "That's good, that's okay", but God used "no" for a reason. 00:22:02.75\00:22:07.97 "No" is a wonderful word when you're about ready to put 00:22:08.35\00:22:10.54 your hand on a hot stove. 00:22:10.57\00:22:12.96 My little boy was 2 years old, we lived in Washington state. 00:22:13.90\00:22:16.99 We heated our house with a wood stove most of the winter, 00:22:19.55\00:22:21.88 and thankfully I got one of those with a tile on it. 00:22:21.91\00:22:25.84 2 years old, you know, 2's are funny times. 00:22:27.64\00:22:30.98 One day I say he was about ready to put his hand 00:22:32.78\00:22:34.25 on that stove, now it wouldn't take the skin off of you 00:22:34.29\00:22:36.25 because it had the tile, but it was still hot. 00:22:36.28\00:22:39.20 I said "Son, No! Don't put your hand on that. " 00:22:41.79\00:22:44.98 "No. Don't! No!" 00:22:45.01\00:22:47.40 I never will forget, he looked me straight in the eye, 00:22:48.40\00:22:52.78 just like this. [audience laughs] 00:22:52.81\00:22:55.72 Listen, the apostle Paul says the commandments are life. 00:23:04.22\00:23:09.64 They are not arbitrary, you disobey them, you die. 00:23:10.12\00:23:15.62 The commandments are a necessity for life, 00:23:17.37\00:23:21.31 they're a boundary. God said "No!" 00:23:21.34\00:23:24.94 because if you go over the boundary, you're going to hit 00:23:24.98\00:23:27.50 a hot stove. God said "No!" 00:23:27.53\00:23:29.99 because if you go over the boundary, you're going over 00:23:30.03\00:23:32.10 a cliff. 00:23:32.13\00:23:33.58 God said "No!" because if you go over that, 00:23:33.62\00:23:35.52 you're going to find destruction. 00:23:35.55\00:23:38.23 God knew what He was doing when He said no. 00:23:38.94\00:23:42.32 No is not fuzzy. No is not wishy washy. 00:23:42.36\00:23:45.71 No tells you what to expect. 00:23:45.91\00:23:48.20 It's hard to misunderstand "No!". 00:23:48.24\00:23:51.82 And no is not made. 00:23:53.78\00:23:56.48 You trust who you obey. You trust who you love, 00:23:58.56\00:24:04.98 and then you obey who you trust. 00:24:05.32\00:24:07.92 Do you believe that? Some of you do, 00:24:11.61\00:24:14.35 some of you question me. 00:24:14.38\00:24:16.03 Let me give you an illustration: 00:24:16.49\00:24:18.45 how many are comfortable in the building tonight, 00:24:19.63\00:24:21.37 we're comfortable, sitting on nice chairs, nobody's worried 00:24:21.41\00:24:23.78 about too much, but let me ask you something: 00:24:23.81\00:24:25.96 if this building begins to shake, what are you 00:24:25.99\00:24:28.11 going to do? 00:24:28.14\00:24:29.50 I'll be right behind you. [audience laughs] 00:24:29.54\00:24:32.62 Right behind you. 00:24:32.99\00:24:34.35 Why? 00:24:34.74\00:24:35.95 Because the trust you had in this building evaporated, 00:24:35.99\00:24:40.16 and your behavior followed your trust. 00:24:40.19\00:24:43.13 You act on what you believe, and who you believe in. 00:24:45.49\00:24:48.78 You see, redemption gives birth to trust, 00:24:49.02\00:24:52.19 trust gives birth to obedience, and obedience 00:24:52.22\00:24:55.36 gives birth to victory over sin. 00:24:55.39\00:24:59.69 Now that's not something we want to talk about nowadays. 00:24:59.79\00:25:02.98 We're in the "grace generation". I believe in grace, 00:25:03.18\00:25:06.59 thank God for grace, I wouldn't be here tonight if it were not 00:25:06.63\00:25:09.24 for the grace of God, and neither would you be, 00:25:09.27\00:25:11.67 but we've come into a generation where the world has interpreted 00:25:13.96\00:25:16.26 grace as a license to misbehave and to sin 00:25:16.29\00:25:20.46 against God's holy law. 00:25:20.49\00:25:22.42 I won't name the church, but it's a great, mega church, 00:25:23.18\00:25:26.08 you probably recognize it, pastor's well known, 00:25:26.11\00:25:28.80 and I'm sure, well meaning, but they did a survey about his 00:25:29.03\00:25:32.92 church members, and came to find out that his church members' 00:25:32.95\00:25:36.81 behavior on the last 6 part of the 10 commandments 00:25:36.84\00:25:40.11 was not much different than the world around them. 00:25:40.15\00:25:43.39 I can tell you as a pastor, if you're sitting underneath 00:25:43.97\00:25:47.34 my preaching and it doesn't change your life, 00:25:47.37\00:25:50.22 there's something wrong with the preacher and the preaching. 00:25:50.26\00:25:53.47 But he got up at the worship service and said: 00:25:57.72\00:26:03.06 "Yeah, about the survey", I'm not quoting verbatim, 00:26:04.05\00:26:07.47 my words, something close, "You know, let's stick" 00:26:07.51\00:26:10.86 "our chests out a little bit. Obviously we're sinners like" 00:26:10.90\00:26:14.30 "everybody else, and we're in need of God's grace. " 00:26:14.33\00:26:18.41 Listen, God's grace was never meant to be a ticket 00:26:18.45\00:26:22.50 for licentiousness. Our problem in the churches 00:26:22.70\00:26:27.24 today is not legalism, it's licentiousness. 00:26:27.28\00:26:31.79 Somebody should have said amen. [audience] Amen. 00:26:31.98\00:26:34.50 Because there's not going to be any change until people 00:26:34.54\00:26:38.17 understand that the grace of God is not to lead us in sin, 00:26:38.21\00:26:41.81 it is to deliver us from sin, 00:26:41.84\00:26:44.70 and to make us new creatures. 00:26:44.99\00:26:47.82 So obedience gives birth, based on God's grace, 00:26:49.22\00:26:52.79 gives birth to victory over sin, 00:26:52.82\00:26:55.29 a life of peace and great joy in living. 00:26:55.33\00:27:00.07 "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me". 00:27:00.10\00:27:04.81 I hope you don't misunderstand me, but your highest affections 00:27:10.31\00:27:15.87 belong to God, and that's what that means. 00:27:16.53\00:27:19.43 I want to tell you, I love my wife, she's precious to me, 00:27:20.31\00:27:23.52 I love my children, they're precious to me, 00:27:23.55\00:27:25.01 I have a lot of other people I love, very close, 00:27:25.05\00:27:27.71 very dear, 00:27:27.74\00:27:29.60 but my wife's security in my love, and my children's security 00:27:31.16\00:27:34.33 in my love is because I love the Lord more than I love them. 00:27:34.37\00:27:37.51 Maybe you don't want to think about that, maybe you don't, 00:27:39.15\00:27:40.92 but you've got to think about "thou shalt have no other gods" 00:27:40.96\00:27:42.70 "before you. " 00:27:42.73\00:27:44.32 God deserves our highest affections, and those affections 00:27:46.79\00:27:51.31 belong to Him because we're all His children first. 00:27:51.34\00:27:55.89 The greatest commandment, Jesus said, is to "love the Lord" 00:27:56.09\00:27:58.64 "your God, with all your heart, all your soul," 00:27:58.67\00:28:01.64 "and all your might. " The secret of Christian living 00:28:01.68\00:28:05.96 is to practice this commandment, the victory of Jesus 00:28:06.00\00:28:10.25 over sin and the devil, and everything else, 00:28:10.28\00:28:13.67 was because He practiced this commandment. 00:28:13.71\00:28:17.07 I want you to take your Bibles and turn to Acts 2:23. 00:28:18.98\00:28:22.67 We're going to the apostle, Peter, he's preaching on the day 00:28:22.71\00:28:24.65 of Pentecost under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, 00:28:24.68\00:28:27.36 at the end of the day 3000 people are converted. 00:28:27.39\00:28:30.69 I don't have time to get into all of this, 00:28:30.72\00:28:32.29 but the previous verse simply says that Jesus had performed 00:28:32.33\00:28:35.86 all these miracles, and God had given all these signs 00:28:35.89\00:28:37.87 and they knew who He was, 00:28:37.90\00:28:40.76 and in verse 23, him talking about Christ Jesus, 00:28:41.55\00:28:45.69 [text on screen]. 00:28:45.72\00:28:47.66 In other words, Jesus had so submitted Himself to His 00:28:50.48\00:28:54.36 Father's will, that Jesus did whatever His Father 00:28:54.39\00:28:58.24 told Him to do. It was His father who sent 00:28:58.27\00:29:01.01 Him to Calvary's cross. Now Jesus went there 00:29:01.04\00:29:03.78 not because He wanted to, He had to go there 00:29:03.82\00:29:06.49 because He had to, the Father reserved 12 legions of angels 00:29:06.53\00:29:09.74 to rescue Him if He needed to, 00:29:09.77\00:29:11.70 but He went there with the foreknowledge 00:29:14.39\00:29:16.98 and the predetermined purpose of God Himself, 00:29:17.02\00:29:19.67 and then the next part of that says: 00:29:19.70\00:29:22.75 "You, having taken by lawless hands", now Jesus didn't make 00:29:22.79\00:29:27.30 them lawless, God didn't make them lawless, 00:29:27.33\00:29:29.46 they became lawless because it was their choice 00:29:29.49\00:29:31.59 to become lawless. 00:29:31.62\00:29:33.52 "But you have taken Him by lawless hands" 00:29:38.82\00:29:40.71 "and crucified and put to death. " 00:29:40.74\00:29:43.26 Listen, at Calvary's cross love took hold of sin, 00:29:43.30\00:29:48.42 sin took hold of love, and there was a mortal struggle. 00:29:49.66\00:29:54.89 A struggle where one must win and one must lose, 00:29:55.04\00:29:58.82 and as you watch that struggle and you hear the cry of Jesus, 00:29:58.86\00:30:01.81 "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" 00:30:01.84\00:30:05.48 When you hear that cry and Jesus sinks down below the cold waters 00:30:05.52\00:30:10.40 of death, the question is: "Will He come back?" 00:30:10.70\00:30:16.05 "Who wins?", the fate of the human race 00:30:16.08\00:30:19.52 held on that question. 00:30:19.78\00:30:22.48 But the apostle Peter, doesn't stop there, 00:30:24.71\00:30:27.77 he goes to verse 24, and he says: 00:30:28.10\00:30:31.41 [text on screen] 00:30:31.44\00:30:33.14 Hallelujah for Sunday morning, there was a resurrection. 00:30:34.26\00:30:39.52 So when Jesus came up, it spelled the death knell of sin, 00:30:39.83\00:30:43.40 sinners, and the devil and his evil angels. 00:30:43.43\00:30:47.37 This is a very fascinating text, it says: 00:30:47.95\00:30:50.45 [continues to read text on screen]. 00:30:50.48\00:30:52.95 In other words it says that it was impossible for Jesus 00:30:56.77\00:30:59.76 to be held in the grave. Why? 00:30:59.79\00:31:03.55 Because the Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death, 00:31:05.90\00:31:11.07 so if He's not a sinner, you can't hold Him. 00:31:11.10\00:31:16.36 The law of the universe will not let you hold a righteous 00:31:17.30\00:31:20.84 person in the grave. 00:31:20.87\00:31:23.47 So, Jesus came up because He was perfect in His childhood, 00:31:23.99\00:31:28.17 He was perfect in His youth, and He was perfect in adulthood. 00:31:28.20\00:31:32.35 What gave Him that power? How was it that Jesus could 00:31:35.15\00:31:38.95 resist all of this, and live that kind of life? 00:31:38.98\00:31:42.25 The apostle Peter goes on in Acts 2, 00:31:42.28\00:31:48.26 and we hear him quote from Psalms 16, but he's really 00:31:48.90\00:31:53.46 quoting the thoughts and the statements of Jesus Himself: 00:31:53.49\00:31:58.02 [text on screen]. 00:31:58.05\00:32:00.58 The Old Testament says: "I set the Lord", 00:32:01.66\00:32:04.41 [continues to read text on screen]. 00:32:04.44\00:32:06.52 It was the practicing of the first commandment, 00:32:13.02\00:32:14.72 "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me", 00:32:14.75\00:32:16.59 Jesus says "I set the Lord always before my face. " 00:32:16.63\00:32:22.44 That was the secret of His great power over evil. 00:32:22.48\00:32:28.26 And it gave Him power over 2 great temptations that stalked 00:32:30.28\00:32:34.60 the human race. You see, because God did not 00:32:34.63\00:32:37.68 create us as robots, He created us free, 00:32:37.71\00:32:40.73 aren't you glad for that? Aren't you glad that when you 00:32:40.76\00:32:42.85 hold your baby on your laps and the baby says: 00:32:42.88\00:32:44.64 "I love you daddy", aren't you glad it's not a tape recorder? 00:32:44.68\00:32:48.51 He creates with the freedom of will, but the freedom of will 00:32:50.29\00:32:52.46 automatically sets up a temptation. 00:32:52.49\00:32:54.43 You see, Lucifer was created with the same freedom of will 00:32:54.47\00:32:56.66 and the angels in heaven, and it was God's plan that of their own 00:32:56.70\00:33:00.60 free will, they would carry out His will, 00:33:00.63\00:33:03.81 God doesn't want forced service, He wants us to give 00:33:03.85\00:33:06.37 Him willing service. 00:33:06.40\00:33:08.96 So, I call it the temptation from within. 00:33:12.00\00:33:15.01 The great temptation of Lucifer and the angels with Him 00:33:15.79\00:33:19.37 was that they decided to use their will to do their own thing 00:33:19.86\00:33:25.67 instead of being servant to the one who created them. 00:33:25.70\00:33:30.00 The secret of Jesus' fulfilling the highest 00:33:31.19\00:33:34.15 possibilities lay in setting the Lord always before His face. 00:33:34.19\00:33:39.80 Jude 6 says [text on screen] 00:33:40.20\00:33:42.88 Listen, that was not their punishment, that was their sin. 00:33:46.42\00:33:50.43 They left the Lord and His service, but what about Jesus, 00:33:51.25\00:33:57.35 what did Jesus chose? 00:33:57.55\00:34:00.38 If you go to Philippians 2, if you have your Bibles 00:34:00.42\00:34:02.86 turn with me there, Philippians 2:6-8, 00:34:02.89\00:34:07.38 it's talking about Jesus [text on screen] 00:34:10.13\00:34:13.22 He's equal with God, but notice what He does, 00:34:19.46\00:34:22.07 "taking on the form of a bondservant" 00:34:22.10\00:34:23.88 Satan, who stood before God, leaves God to do his own thing. 00:34:24.19\00:34:28.99 Jesus, who is equal with God, steps away, turns in front 00:34:29.14\00:34:32.47 of His Father, and say: "Father, whatever Your will is," 00:34:32.51\00:34:35.81 "I'll do it. " Now, if you're God, 00:34:35.84\00:34:37.61 you give the orders, you don't take them. 00:34:37.65\00:34:40.56 Jesus became a servant 00:34:41.03\00:34:43.58 and that servanthood took Him all the way to death, 00:34:44.41\00:34:50.26 even the death of a cross. 00:34:50.45\00:34:54.01 The secret of Jesus' success was to keep His Father, 00:34:56.99\00:35:00.64 and His Father's purposes always before His face. 00:35:00.68\00:35:04.30 Then there's the temptation from without. 00:35:04.33\00:35:06.59 The scripture goes on to say in Acts 2:25 [text on screen]. 00:35:08.09\00:35:12.03 Psalm 16 says: For I shall not be moved. " 00:35:15.78\00:35:19.01 It was Adam who fell from the temptations without, 00:35:19.05\00:35:21.72 Adam and Eve. 00:35:21.75\00:35:23.85 All the temptations of the devil are to sway our loyalty. 00:35:24.85\00:35:28.54 I wish we could get this. 00:35:28.57\00:35:30.81 He wants us to switch our loyalty from God 00:35:31.50\00:35:34.38 to himself, but when you look at Jesus: not the wilderness, 00:35:34.42\00:35:39.80 not flattery, not power, not poverty, not wealth, 00:35:39.83\00:35:43.36 not argument, not popularity, not betrayal, not pain, 00:35:43.39\00:35:46.89 not death could move Christ from His loyalty 00:35:46.92\00:35:50.06 to His heavenly Father, 00:35:50.09\00:35:52.57 and the result was victory over death itself. 00:35:53.29\00:35:59.16 That's why you hear Jesus saying: [text on screen]. 00:35:59.35\00:36:02.19 Each victory created the opportunity for another victory. 00:36:04.02\00:36:07.20 "You will not leave My soul in Hades," Jesus said, 00:36:07.23\00:36:10.61 "nor allow Your holy One to see corruption. " 00:36:10.64\00:36:14.25 In the book of Revelation, Jesus declares to the human race, 00:36:17.37\00:36:22.18 He says: "Do not be afraid. " Can you imagine saying 00:36:22.70\00:36:24.92 that to a bunch of people who are facing death all the time, 00:36:24.96\00:36:28.29 living in this kind of a world, can you imagine Jesus saying 00:36:28.79\00:36:31.93 "don't be afraid", but what He says is wise, 00:36:31.96\00:36:35.11 we should not be afraid. 00:36:35.14\00:36:37.19 He says: "don't be afraid. " 00:36:37.22\00:36:39.24 He says: "I have the keys. I was dead, and I'm alive forevermore" 00:36:40.21\00:36:44.88 "and I have the keys to the grave and to death. " 00:36:44.91\00:36:50.93 The devil may lock us up and want to keep us there, 00:36:52.09\00:36:54.95 but we have a Saviour who has the combination. 00:36:54.98\00:36:59.42 Listen, the secret of the Christian success, 00:37:03.17\00:37:06.74 and this is where it gets tough, 00:37:07.78\00:37:10.19 is to trust Jesus with our life. 00:37:10.76\00:37:13.93 What that means is that I put my life under His control. 00:37:14.07\00:37:19.28 I didn't like that concept too much. 00:37:19.31\00:37:20.93 I've talk about surrender all my life, 00:37:20.97\00:37:22.52 but a few years ago, I had this vividly brought before me 00:37:22.56\00:37:25.60 and I argued with God deep down inside, I said: 00:37:25.63\00:37:28.55 "Lord, I'm struggling with this. What I'd really like to have" 00:37:28.59\00:37:30.70 "is veto power during intercessory prayer" 00:37:30.73\00:37:33.15 "to overturn whatever Your will is. " 00:37:33.18\00:37:36.01 Now, I believe that God lets things come, 00:37:40.88\00:37:42.67 and I believe in intercessory prayer, and God is a God 00:37:42.71\00:37:44.68 of changing outcomes, aren't you glad for that? 00:37:44.71\00:37:47.64 But there are times when we may not understand, 00:37:48.10\00:37:51.01 but we have to go ahead and trust that God loves us 00:37:51.05\00:37:53.93 and He's doing what's best for us. 00:37:53.96\00:37:56.14 And that's what Romans 8:28 means when it says: 00:37:57.45\00:37:59.42 "All things work together for good to those that love" 00:37:59.46\00:38:02.75 "the Lord, and are called according to His purpose. " 00:38:02.79\00:38:05.53 It's what Jesus meant when He said, and this is tough 00:38:05.56\00:38:08.19 for a lot of Christians, "but I tell you not to resist" 00:38:08.22\00:38:10.82 "an evil person. " Why?! 00:38:10.85\00:38:13.95 Why?! 00:38:15.05\00:38:17.66 Because once you've given your life to the Lord, 00:38:18.17\00:38:20.27 nothing can touch you unless the Lord allows it. 00:38:20.34\00:38:24.81 You've given Him your life, that if He allows an evil person 00:38:25.70\00:38:30.03 to do you evil. 00:38:30.06\00:38:31.91 I love this quote from a little book called 00:38:38.28\00:38:40.37 "Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings" by E.G. White. 00:38:40.41\00:38:44.78 It says: [text on screen] 00:38:44.81\00:38:46.60 In other words, the nails: His Father permitted, 00:38:59.26\00:39:03.30 the whipping: His Father permitted, 00:39:03.45\00:39:06.52 but Jesus found comfort in the fact that they couldn't 00:39:08.98\00:39:11.43 touch Him unless His Father permitted. 00:39:11.46\00:39:14.17 He would say to His disciples: "Don't worry about it," 00:39:15.30\00:39:18.42 "they can't kill Me because My hour has not yet come. " 00:39:18.46\00:39:21.55 "He who is imbued with the spirit of Christ," 00:39:24.94\00:39:27.07 "abides in Christ. " That's what it means 00:39:27.10\00:39:29.11 to abide in Christ, you put your life under His control. 00:39:29.15\00:39:32.69 [text on screen] 00:39:32.72\00:39:35.04 Aren't you glad for that? 00:39:37.01\00:39:38.06 How many blows has the Lord Jesus taken for each of us? 00:39:38.10\00:39:41.49 [text on screen] 00:39:42.18\00:39:44.09 "and all things that are permitted" 00:39:55.78\00:39:58.73 "work together for good to those that love the Lord. " 00:39:58.77\00:40:04.04 I tell you, I had a hard time understanding this, 00:40:06.17\00:40:07.93 or at least getting a hang on it, and I finally said 00:40:07.96\00:40:10.18 "Lord, okay, look: anything you want with my life," 00:40:10.22\00:40:13.13 "it's Yours. I give up my life, I have no future. " 00:40:13.16\00:40:16.04 I do not have a future unless the Lord gives me 00:40:17.39\00:40:19.98 a future. 00:40:20.01\00:40:21.63 I don't have tomorrow, 00:40:21.98\00:40:24.05 but I learned a little bit the hard way, 00:40:25.46\00:40:27.72 I'm still learning. It's a hard struggle. 00:40:27.75\00:40:29.98 I was invited to go to Australia to do a revival series, 00:40:30.59\00:40:33.58 and I have a wonderful secretary - Jean, 00:40:33.61\00:40:35.82 she set up the whole thing for me. 00:40:35.85\00:40:37.58 I got on a plane, flew from Michigan to LA. 00:40:37.62\00:40:39.58 When I got to LA we were changing planes 00:40:39.61\00:40:41.50 and I found out that they had cancelled my flight. 00:40:41.54\00:40:44.19 You have to understand that I told Jean that on that long 00:40:44.23\00:40:48.09 flight, 14 hours across the Pacific, I wanted an aisle seat. 00:40:48.13\00:40:51.96 Nothing wrong with that. 00:40:53.88\00:40:56.16 At any rate, I got there and they said 00:40:57.84\00:40:59.56 "We cancelled your flight Mr. Gallimore. " 00:40:59.59\00:41:01.24 I said "Okay, well alright. Just get me an aisle seat," 00:41:01.28\00:41:04.84 "can you do that?" 00:41:04.87\00:41:05.84 "Mr. Gallimore, the plane is full. " 00:41:05.85\00:41:08.13 I said "Oh, okay... well do what you can do. " 00:41:08.44\00:41:13.05 "How about a window seat?" 00:41:13.16\00:41:14.38 "Mr. Gallimore, the plane is full. " 00:41:14.42\00:41:16.69 She finally gave me my seat assignment 00:41:16.72\00:41:18.96 and I said "Well, where is it?" 00:41:18.99\00:41:20.85 She said "Right in the middle. " 00:41:20.95\00:41:22.86 I was nice, but she said it with kind of a clarity, 00:41:24.09\00:41:26.56 I think that was the providence of God, because He was 00:41:26.59\00:41:29.03 trying to teach me something. 00:41:29.06\00:41:31.95 Because when she said "Right in the middle", 00:41:33.76\00:41:34.83 I had a vision. I had ridden across the Atlantic in one 00:41:34.87\00:41:37.35 of those planes that has 5 seats in the middle, 00:41:37.38\00:41:39.54 and I was in the very, very middle. 00:41:39.57\00:41:41.64 I had not planned to repeat the experience. 00:41:43.27\00:41:46.60 So I'm pulling my suitcase out towards the gate, 00:41:47.14\00:41:49.80 the carnal nature's beginning to work, you feel the steam 00:41:49.84\00:41:52.64 coming up - maybe none of you ever have problems like that. 00:41:52.67\00:41:55.44 And I begin to get worked up, and said "What in the world" 00:41:56.97\00:41:58.99 "is wrong with this airline?" It's a wonderful airline, 00:41:59.02\00:42:01.01 by the way, if I happened to mention their name, 00:42:01.04\00:42:02.22 they're a wonderful airline. 00:42:02.25\00:42:04.73 I said "What's wrong with this airline?" 00:42:04.93\00:42:08.20 "They couldn't call me and let me know they cancelled" 00:42:08.24\00:42:09.49 "their flight so I could get my seat fixed?" 00:42:09.52\00:42:13.01 It's about 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, Michigan time, 00:42:15.38\00:42:17.98 out on the west coast, it was very late there, 00:42:18.01\00:42:20.76 I pulled out my phone and I said: "I'm going to call Jean," 00:42:20.80\00:42:24.03 "leave a message on her phone and tell her to call" 00:42:24.06\00:42:27.93 "this airline and tell them how disappointed I am" 00:42:27.97\00:42:31.81 "that they didn't get a hold of me and tell me they cancelled" 00:42:32.11\00:42:34.11 "my flight. " 00:42:34.14\00:42:35.97 So I flicked open the phone, got ready to dial it 00:42:36.62\00:42:40.27 and I heard a still, small voice, and it said: 00:42:40.31\00:42:43.93 "Jay, did you give Me your life?" 00:42:43.96\00:42:48.92 "Yes, I did. " 00:42:49.90\00:42:51.77 "Jay, if I want you to ride in the middle seat" 00:42:52.99\00:42:56.80 "all the way to Australia, isn't that my business?" 00:42:56.83\00:43:00.61 "Yes, Lord, and I'm sorry for complaining," 00:43:04.33\00:43:09.19 "and I will happily ride in that middle seat to Australia" 00:43:09.90\00:43:13.94 "as long as it's Your will. " 00:43:14.49\00:43:16.46 I want you to know, instantly the sweetest peace 00:43:16.97\00:43:18.75 flooded my heart, 00:43:18.78\00:43:20.84 and I was happy. I came on the plane, 00:43:21.26\00:43:25.45 just happy and relaxed, planning to sit in that middle seat. 00:43:25.49\00:43:29.89 But I got on the plane and there were only 4 seats in the middle, 00:43:30.25\00:43:31.97 wasn't that nice? 00:43:32.00\00:43:33.99 But my middle seat was by the window side, 00:43:34.25\00:43:36.43 and there were 3 seats and I was in the middle. 00:43:36.47\00:43:38.11 I said: "Well Lord, that's not so bad, I'm sorry" 00:43:38.14\00:43:39.75 "for being such a complainer. " 00:43:39.78\00:43:41.93 So I sat down in my middle seat and in little while 00:43:42.85\00:43:45.25 the plane filled up, it was really packed it seamed. 00:43:45.29\00:43:47.66 Pretty soon the stewardess came by and they were 00:43:48.16\00:43:52.52 getting ready to shut the door and I said: 00:43:52.55\00:43:55.86 "There's nobody coming to sit on this aisle seat," 00:43:55.90\00:43:57.81 "could I sit here if nobody comes. " 00:43:57.84\00:44:00.36 She says "Sure, why don't you go there and sit right now" 00:44:00.40\00:44:02.99 "because we're getting ready to shut the door" 00:44:03.02\00:44:04.53 "and I don't think anybody else is coming," 00:44:04.56\00:44:06.00 "but if somebody does, you just move back over. " 00:44:06.04\00:44:08.77 I said thank you and I moved over to that aisle seat. 00:44:09.34\00:44:11.76 Pretty soon they closed the door, and I want you to know 00:44:11.86\00:44:14.09 that I rode all the way across the Pacific in an aisle seat 00:44:14.13\00:44:16.33 that I did not deserve. 00:44:16.36\00:44:18.52 I was preaching the series and there was a young lady 00:44:20.65\00:44:23.51 that I didn't know about, that she worked for this airline 00:44:23.55\00:44:26.78 and she came up to me later and she says 00:44:27.38\00:44:29.63 "what's your flight number going back?" 00:44:29.66\00:44:31.88 So I told her. 00:44:32.04\00:44:33.80 I found out that she worked for the seating arrangement. 00:44:34.40\00:44:41.34 There was a note when I checked in at the airline 00:44:44.06\00:44:46.14 and the lady who checked me in says: "There's something" 00:44:46.18\00:44:49.55 "strange here, there's a note here. " 00:44:49.58\00:44:51.23 I said: "Oh?" It said: "I really enjoyed" 00:44:51.27\00:44:53.15 "the meetings, I hope that you enjoy your seat. " 00:44:53.19\00:44:58.35 She had put me in an exit row on the aisle, 00:44:58.54\00:45:00.78 and I could stretch my feet all the way across the Pacific, 00:45:00.82\00:45:03.36 I rode in another aisle seat back across the Pacific, 00:45:03.39\00:45:07.17 in a seat I didn't deserve. 00:45:07.20\00:45:09.47 I set the Lord always before my face. 00:45:11.03\00:45:15.48 About a year and a half ago my wife and I 00:45:16.50\00:45:18.81 had terrible news. 00:45:20.87\00:45:22.40 I was down preaching a series in Coldwater, Michigan. 00:45:22.56\00:45:25.11 The doctor wanted to come to our house, 00:45:27.59\00:45:28.70 they never want to come to your house unless there's 00:45:28.74\00:45:30.53 something bad. 00:45:30.56\00:45:32.40 She'd been diagnosed with lung cancer, 00:45:32.47\00:45:34.81 she grew up where there's no smoking, no smoking in our home. 00:45:35.20\00:45:39.01 And that's a blow. 00:45:41.68\00:45:43.56 We had sold our home and moved out in the country, 00:45:47.22\00:45:49.50 and just about this time we got news that the sale on the house 00:45:49.54\00:45:53.27 fell through. 00:45:53.30\00:45:55.59 I thank the Lord for His providence over her. 00:45:56.70\00:45:58.73 I still have her today and she's doing good, 00:45:58.77\00:46:01.77 and I praise God for her, I love her so much. 00:46:01.81\00:46:04.78 My friend was following me out of the middle of Detroit, 00:46:08.58\00:46:10.61 she was at Wayne State University being attended there 00:46:10.64\00:46:12.64 by some wonderful physicians. 00:46:12.67\00:46:14.87 I was on my way and somebody under the influence of alcohol 00:46:15.89\00:46:20.37 hit my friend behind me, threw his car into my car, 00:46:20.40\00:46:24.98 totaled them both, and we were OK, and they were OK, 00:46:25.49\00:46:30.37 for which I was grateful, 00:46:30.40\00:46:32.43 but with all of that piling in, I heard a voice 00:46:33.19\00:46:38.48 a few days or weeks, or some time afterwards, 00:46:39.28\00:46:41.46 I heard a voice, it wasn't audible, but I want to tell you, 00:46:41.50\00:46:44.49 it was almost audible. 00:46:44.69\00:46:47.54 It said: "Do you still believe that all things work together" 00:46:50.85\00:46:58.73 "for good?" 00:46:58.76\00:47:00.71 I thank God for the peace that was in my heart, 00:47:03.15\00:47:05.49 and I answered it out loud, and I want you to know 00:47:06.67\00:47:10.14 the answer was because of the grace of God, 00:47:10.17\00:47:12.06 not because of anything within me, 00:47:12.09\00:47:13.91 but I answered that voice out loud and I said: 00:47:13.95\00:47:17.46 "I still believe!" [Audience] Amen 00:47:17.49\00:47:22.33 My dear brothers and sisters, Jesus predicted that before 00:47:25.50\00:47:28.59 He comes, the delusions would be so great 00:47:28.62\00:47:31.21 that it'll be possible to deceive the very elect. 00:47:31.25\00:47:33.51 So skillful will be these delusions in the end of time 00:47:33.55\00:47:36.75 that much of the Christian world will come to believe 00:47:36.78\00:47:39.95 that Satan is their friend, and accept his voice 00:47:40.09\00:47:44.83 as the voice of God. 00:47:44.86\00:47:47.81 If you just read the predictions of Jesus, 00:47:49.82\00:47:52.51 just read them, about the end of time. 00:47:53.40\00:47:56.93 How are we going to go through all of that? 00:47:59.26\00:48:01.35 How are you going to go through all of that? 00:48:01.39\00:48:03.45 Are you willing to set Jesus, the Lord Jesus, 00:48:05.32\00:48:10.84 always before your face? 00:48:10.87\00:48:14.20 Jesus said in Matthew 7:22, He's talking about 00:48:15.62\00:48:18.01 the judgment day, there are a group of Christians 00:48:18.05\00:48:20.41 He didn't let in, and they protested. 00:48:20.44\00:48:24.48 They said: [text on screen] 00:48:24.91\00:48:27.42 Let me ask you a question: where did they get the power 00:48:35.50\00:48:37.33 to cast out demons? 00:48:37.36\00:48:38.97 Where did they get the power to do miracles? 00:48:39.01\00:48:41.02 Because Jesus in the next sentence says: 00:48:41.05\00:48:43.03 "I don't know you. " 00:48:43.06\00:48:45.50 "Who are you?" 00:48:47.82\00:48:49.79 So they must have worked those miracles by somebody else. 00:48:49.83\00:48:54.44 I believe in miracles, you know I believe in miracles, 00:48:55.13\00:48:58.20 but the deceptions of the end of time are going to be 00:48:58.92\00:49:00.63 something else. 00:49:00.66\00:49:03.26 Millions of people will not be ready when Jesus comes. 00:49:07.72\00:49:13.40 But praise God, millions will be ready. 00:49:13.43\00:49:16.41 Revelation 14:12 says: [text on screen] 00:49:17.12\00:49:19.99 You've got to have both, the faith of Jesus 00:49:30.49\00:49:31.92 and the commandments of God, just test everything 00:49:31.96\00:49:35.23 by the 10 commandments. 00:49:35.26\00:49:37.65 I don't know why it is that some Christian religions 00:49:39.19\00:49:43.12 say the 10 commandments have been done away with, 00:49:43.16\00:49:47.06 can you imagine saying something like that? 00:49:47.09\00:49:50.54 I still love them. 00:49:51.45\00:49:53.50 Some religions have taken the 10 commandments 00:49:55.82\00:49:57.72 and they just took the second one out, 00:49:57.75\00:50:02.49 and split the last 1 in 2, 00:50:03.40\00:50:06.96 and they tinkered with some of the rest of it. 00:50:08.20\00:50:11.14 Can you imagine a poor, mortal, human being, 00:50:11.59\00:50:15.58 no matter how educated, no matter how much influence, 00:50:15.62\00:50:18.38 no matter how much of anything, tinkering with law of God? 00:50:18.42\00:50:25.14 That's the world, we live in it. 00:50:27.17\00:50:31.22 How is it that these saints who keep the commandments 00:50:32.41\00:50:34.97 of God and the faith of Jesus, how is that they got through 00:50:35.01\00:50:38.27 all of this? It's because they keep 00:50:38.30\00:50:40.90 the Lord Jesus always before their face. 00:50:40.94\00:50:45.10 Let us ask the question this way: why couldn't the most 00:50:45.42\00:50:48.77 cunning of deceptions shake their faith? 00:50:48.80\00:50:52.24 Why couldn't the most horrible time of trouble 00:50:52.28\00:50:55.85 the world will ever see disrupt their trust? 00:50:55.88\00:50:59.42 Why is it that they can't be moved in their loyalty 00:50:59.75\00:51:04.76 to the God of heaven? 00:51:04.79\00:51:06.36 I'll tell you why: because they have heard 00:51:06.54\00:51:09.38 a voice from Sinai that says: "You shall have no other gods" 00:51:09.42\00:51:17.00 "before Me", and they have heard a voice from Calvary's 00:51:17.03\00:51:21.10 cross by means of the apostle Peter, and they hear 00:51:21.13\00:51:24.57 the Lord Jesus say: "I have set the Lord" 00:51:24.60\00:51:28.37 "always before My face, He is at my right hand," 00:51:28.47\00:51:32.87 "and I shall not be shaken. " 00:51:32.90\00:51:36.44 My dear brothers, sisters, and friends, 00:51:37.39\00:51:40.61 you have a choice: you can serve yourself, 00:51:41.84\00:51:48.71 you can make gods out of your children, your wife, 00:51:48.75\00:51:52.30 or money, or greed, or whatever, 00:51:52.70\00:51:55.75 and you can serve them; or you can set the Lord Jesus 00:51:56.52\00:52:05.06 always before your face and serve Him. 00:52:05.26\00:52:12.15 The choice is yours. 00:52:12.93\00:52:18.22 If there ever was a time 00:52:27.35\00:52:33.05 when Jesus needed me to bear His name, 00:52:33.09\00:52:39.19 it is now I pray He'll find in me 00:52:39.22\00:52:45.62 a servant worth His pain. 00:52:45.65\00:52:50.40 Father grant that I might stand 00:52:50.44\00:52:55.81 a living light for all to see. 00:52:55.84\00:53:01.18 I sacrifice my [?], 00:53:01.21\00:53:07.20 that Your name be placed 00:53:07.24\00:53:11.08 on me. 00:53:11.11\00:53:15.09 I'll wear your name, I'll wear it well. 00:53:15.58\00:53:20.91 Never, Oh Lord, my faith to sell. 00:53:20.94\00:53:26.76 From my life all sin expel, 00:53:26.79\00:53:32.01 I'll wear your name and I'll wear it well. 00:53:32.05\00:53:38.88 I have failed in times before 00:53:48.55\00:53:53.71 to show this angry world 00:53:53.74\00:53:56.48 Your perfect way. 00:53:56.51\00:53:59.25 Lord forgive my sin of [?], 00:53:59.29\00:54:04.36 grant the strength to live each day. 00:54:04.40\00:54:09.66 May I long to do Your will, 00:54:09.89\00:54:14.88 trust your word despite [?and still?], 00:54:14.92\00:54:20.20 renounce the world and all its thrills 00:54:20.23\00:54:25.48 that Your name be placed on me. 00:54:25.82\00:54:33.08 I'll wear your name, I'll wear it well. 00:54:33.75\00:54:39.16 Never, Oh Lord, my faith to sell. 00:54:39.43\00:54:45.74 From my life all sin expel, 00:54:45.77\00:54:51.02 I'll wear your name and I'll wear it well. 00:54:51.06\00:54:58.42 When the angels' trumpet sounds 00:55:15.20\00:55:21.34 and You break the clouds before our eyes, 00:55:21.94\00:55:27.56 call our loved ones from the ground, 00:55:27.59\00:55:32.60 nevermore to sin or die. 00:55:32.63\00:55:38.23 And if there's one who chose to sin, 00:55:38.42\00:55:43.80 despite my urging him to win, 00:55:43.83\00:55:49.25 may he admit from deep within 00:55:49.29\00:55:54.68 that Your name was placed on me. 00:55:54.95\00:56:01.38 I'll wear your name, I'll wear it well. 00:56:15.51\00:56:21.89 Never, Oh Lord, my faith to sell. 00:56:21.92\00:56:27.97 From my life all sin expel, 00:56:28.20\00:56:33.72 I'll wear your name and I'll wear it well. 00:56:33.92\00:56:39.68 I'll wear your name, I'll wear it well. 00:56:39.72\00:56:45.45 Never, Oh Lord, my faith to sell. 00:56:45.48\00:56:52.15 From my life all sin expel, 00:56:52.18\00:56:58.97 I'll wear your name and I'll wear it well. 00:56:59.47\00:57:07.85 I'll wear your name and I'll wear it well. 00:57:15.93\00:57:31.21 [Music for Credits] 00:57:32.24\00:57:34.40
