00:10 Where did we come from?
00:14 The Bible says, "In the beginning God created." 00:20 Evolution teaches the opposite. 00:22 No one created, it all happened by itself. 00:26 Which one is the truth? 00:30 This is Headquarters, 00:34 Doc M, 00:38 Jacqui, 00:41 and Rich, 00:44 their job, investigate and discover the truth. 00:52 This is The Creation Case. 01:15 Jacqui, can you come over here? 01:18 I've got the next assignment for Rich. 01:20 Sure, Doc. 01:24 I said... 01:28 Never mind, stay right there. 01:30 Don't come. I'll come over to you. 01:32 I don't want your sneezes messing up my papers. 01:36 Are you sure? You don't have to. 01:38 Well, you know how much I love rolling around this office. 01:42 Are you getting sick? 01:44 Yeah, I think I got a cold. 01:47 Be thankful you're not doing Rich's assignment. 01:49 Why is that? 01:50 You would get a cold on top of a cold. 01:53 What are you working on anyway? 01:56 Well, I'm working on the DNA of the Woolly. 02:00 I've been working on it all week, 02:01 and I am almost done. 02:03 All right, I'll stay away from there then. 02:04 Thank you. 02:06 Hey, look, I got an email. 02:08 It's from Evert in Staten Island, New York. 02:11 Oh, really? Incredible. 02:12 Cool. Listen to her question. 02:14 "Dear, Doc M, the other day, I watched a movie 02:16 that was supposed to take place 02:17 millions of years ago during the Ice Age. 02:20 I asked my science teacher at school 02:22 about it the next day, 02:23 and he asked me, "Which Ice Age?" 02:25 I'm currently confused about this whole Ice Age thing 02:27 since my parents say 02:29 God created the earth a few thousand years ago. 02:32 Please help. 02:34 Thank you." 02:37 I know what she means. 02:39 I've heard supposedly that there are many Ice Ages. 02:42 It's a great question. 02:44 Great question. Can you zip it over to Rich? 02:46 I can definitely do that. 02:48 Fantastic. Where is he anyway? 02:51 I think he said something 02:53 about being in the forest today. 02:57 Probably in the forest, hiding, 03:00 studying animals hoping they don't see him. 03:03 Oh, then it's probably a good thing 03:05 we're not there because... 03:09 Because we'd scare away the animals. 03:11 Yes. 03:12 And assuming he's actually trying 03:15 to be quite though. 03:17 Well, we could probably be quiet too. 03:19 Watch. 03:20 I'll go quietly back to my desk. 03:22 All right. 03:26 Help us investigate today. 03:29 Download and print your own free Journal Study Guide 03:32 at TheCreationCase.com. 04:13 Hey, I think we got our next assignment from HQ. 04:15 Let's check it out. 04:20 Hi, Rich. 04:21 I hope you're doing well. 04:23 I have your next assignment for you. 04:25 And... 04:28 Oh, man, she's got a cold. 04:30 Bless you. 04:32 Sorry, I'm getting a cold. 04:34 Anyway, we need you to investigate 04:37 about the Ice Age or Ice Ages. 04:41 When did they happen? 04:42 Was there more than one? 04:44 How are they formed, all that? 04:47 We look forward to your report. 04:49 And be careful not to get a cold. 05:02 Got message, 05:06 Ice Age. 05:12 By the way, 05:15 bless you. 05:18 All right, we have our new assignment. 05:20 Let's get it written in our journal. 05:28 Ice Age. 05:32 Ice Age, let me think about it. 05:42 Well, an Ice Age 05:43 is when a large part of the world 05:45 was covered with snow and ice 05:47 year round for centuries, that's old snow. 05:51 So where can we go 05:53 to see some of this old snow and ice 05:55 in the middle of the summer? 05:57 I know, a glacier. 06:01 Glaciers are found on the planet's poles 06:04 and also at the top of the mountains 06:06 where the air is cold. 06:11 I know of a glacier nearby. 06:13 We need to get to Grand Teton National Park. 06:16 Let's go. 06:24 Do you have a creation question for Headquarters? 06:27 Send your questions to Doc, Jacqui, and Rich 06:30 by visiting our website at TheCreationCase.com. 06:54 We've arrived to Grand Teton National Park. 06:57 We've got to pull over and check this place out. 07:01 This majestic mountain range 07:03 is home to about a dozen glaciers. 07:12 Wow, what a gorgeous mountain range! 07:15 And look at all the snow they have 07:16 in the middle of the summer. 07:17 Amazing. It's so nice. 07:19 I think, I'm going to sketch this in my journal. 07:26 We know the glaciers 07:27 have been around for centuries. 07:29 The big questions today are, 07:31 have they really been around for millions of years? 07:34 And also, how did they get there? 07:37 And if we can find evidence about how glaciers 07:40 and Ice Ages form, we'll have clues 07:42 that can help us answer many other questions. 07:50 So the first big question is, 07:52 what would cause an Ice Age to happen? 07:59 Why don't we get a little closer? 08:00 And the best way to do that is on a bike. 08:21 Here in the United States, 08:23 there's evidence that at one point, 08:25 Ice Age glaciers 08:26 covered most of the northern part 08:28 of the United States. 08:30 In Antarctica, there are places 08:32 with upto three miles deep of snow and ice. 08:37 So what's needed to cause an Ice Age to happen? 08:41 Even though some secular scientists teach 08:44 that many different Ice Ages have occurred 08:46 in the last millions of years, these same scientists admit, 08:51 they really don't know 08:52 what would have caused an Ice Age 08:54 to happen in the first place. 09:00 Hey, there's a boat we can take here 09:01 to get us even closer to the glaciers. 09:04 Come on. 09:10 Scientists agree that for an Ice Age to happen, 09:12 two basic things need to happen. 09:16 First, we need the ocean to be very warm 09:19 so the water can evaporate. 09:20 And second, we need the air to be very cold. 09:32 If those two things happen, a lot of snow will fall. 09:46 If you don't have both, it won't work. 09:49 Only having cold air isn't enough, 09:52 and warm oceans without the cold air 09:55 will only get you a lot of rain. 09:59 Evolution is still struggling to explain 10:02 how an Ice Age could form, but the cool thing is, 10:04 the Bible provides us the historical evidence 10:07 for how one could form. 10:28 The Bible says that during the flood, 10:30 all the fountains of water of the great deep erupted 10:34 to the surface for five months. 10:37 Erupting water means, 10:38 the ocean would have gotten a lot hotter. 10:42 We now have our first ingredient, 10:44 warm ocean water that will cause 10:47 lots of evaporation. 10:51 The second ingredient is cold air in the atmosphere. 10:55 How would the air get cold? 10:56 Volcanoes. 10:58 The volcanic activity during the flood 11:01 would have blown tons of volcanic ash into the air. 11:05 It's known that when there is a lot of ash blown 11:08 into the atmosphere, 11:09 less heat from the sun gets through, 11:12 and the air gets colder. 11:15 Imagine hundreds or thousands of volcanoes 11:18 erupting all at the same time during the flood. 11:21 It would have made the air a lot colder. 11:24 Cold air and lots of ocean evaporation 11:27 would have caused massive snowstorms 11:29 to dump a bunch of snow at the earth's poles for years. 11:34 It's a very realistic possibility. 11:36 But, of course, no one knows for sure 11:38 every detail of how the flood happened. 11:41 But it's neat when we see the Bible matching up 11:44 to real world clues. 11:55 Wow, what an amazing view. 11:57 This is ice and water melting from around the glaciers. 12:01 You know, it's amazing that the Bible provides a story 12:04 that gives us those two ingredients we need. 12:06 We need the cold air and the warm oceans. 12:09 I think, I'm going to write that down 12:10 in my journal. 12:15 Events during the flood 12:17 would cause the ocean to warm up, 12:19 and the air to cool down. 12:23 While many scientists 12:24 are still trying to piece together 12:26 how an Ice Age would develop, 12:28 the Bible provides a description 12:30 of earth's history 12:31 that models how an Ice Age could have followed the flood. 12:36 We still need to find out more 12:38 about what happened after the Ice Age 12:40 which was after the flood. 12:43 I think for now, though, it's time to head back. 12:47 I have an idea. 12:48 We need to go on a glacier. 12:50 I know of a mountain in Oregon that has 12 glaciers on it. 12:54 It's called Mount Hood. 12:55 Let's go. 13:03 Well, hi, everyone. 13:04 Doc M here at HQ. 13:06 We're here for you. 13:08 I made that up myself. 13:10 Since Rich is investigating the Ice Age, 13:13 let me tell you a little about my favorite animals, 13:16 mammoths and mastodons, 13:20 one of the great mysteries of our world. 13:23 Oh, it's exciting. 13:25 It's what they look like. 13:26 I've got pictures. 13:31 Whoa! 13:32 So when did they live? 13:34 And what happened to these hairy relatives 13:36 of elephants? 13:39 See, cousins. 13:43 No one knows for sure. 13:44 So all we can do is look at the clues. 13:47 Actually, a few years ago, I sent Rich on an assignment 13:51 to investigate mammoths. 13:53 Let me show you a little video clip. 14:00 There are dozens of mammoths buried in this one spot. 14:03 Around the world, what's been found, 14:06 the most is the huge tusks. 14:09 About 50,000 have been found, 14:11 which means they were around 14:13 for at least a few hundred years 14:14 after the flood before they became extinct. 14:17 You see, at one point, evolution taught 14:19 they had lived 50,000 years ago. 14:23 But when archaeologists started finding spear tips 14:26 in their carcasses, they changed their beliefs 14:29 and said, "No, 14:30 maybe they only lived 10,000 years ago." 14:32 Hey, let me show you my pet mammoth, Mindy. 14:42 This is Mindy. Isn't she cute? 14:44 The Bible teaches 14:46 that the flood occurred about 4,500 years ago. 14:49 It would appear that mammoths lived 14:51 for several hundred years after the flood, 14:54 while the Ice Age was forming 14:56 because several have been found frozen 14:58 in the snow and ice. 15:00 We know a major change happened in the climate on this planet 15:04 because of these frozen mammoths. 15:08 They had frozen grass and flowers in their teeth 15:13 and in their stomach, 15:14 not something we would normally see 15:16 in the northern part of Alaska and Siberia. 15:20 The clues we have about these animals seemed 15:23 to fit with the Bible story of the flood. 15:27 Evidence shows how an Ice Age would form 15:30 over the next few hundred years after the flood, 15:34 and Ice Age that transformed a lush forest 15:37 into a desert of snow and ice, 15:39 and how it would bury not only mammoths 15:42 but many other animals and plants as well. 15:45 Yet again, this is why I believe, 15:49 God is my Creator. 15:54 Hey, everyone. It's me, Rich Aguilera. 15:56 I'd love to see you at one of our live events 15:59 to see where I'll be speaking, 16:01 visit our website, TheCreationCase.com. 16:16 It's easy to spot Mount Hood 16:18 because it's the tallest mountain 16:20 in Oregon. 16:21 It's also a dormant volcano. 16:23 Let's hope it doesn't wake up while we're up there. 16:27 The Bible provides a description 16:29 of earth's history 16:30 that can help create a model for the Ice Age. 16:35 Scientists that study glaciers 16:37 and weather patterns have calculated 16:39 that under the post flood conditions, 16:41 an ice sheet of 1000-feet thick 16:44 would have taken about 500 years to form. 16:47 A global flood would have enormous consequences 16:50 on the planet. 16:59 Well, this is as high up as we can get in the jeep. 17:03 Fortunately, there's a chairlift 17:04 that will take us up even higher on Mount Hood. 17:08 Since the mountain is covered with glaciers, 17:10 that means there's snow here year round, 17:12 that means we can do some snowboarding. 17:20 I can't think of a better way to get nice and close 17:22 to a glacier. 17:29 Even though it's summer because we're so high, 17:32 the snow and ice doesn't melt. 17:34 It just stays here year after year. 17:37 Using computers and known weather patterns, 17:40 over the next few hundred years 17:41 after the flood, 17:43 warm oceans and cold air would form huge snowstorms 17:47 that would dump snow on the planet 17:49 faster than it could melt. 17:51 It probably took many years 17:54 for the ocean to cool off again. 17:58 All the ash in the air 17:59 would also take a lot of time to settle 18:01 and finally allow the sunlight to get through 18:04 and warm up the air. 18:10 All right, we're at the top of the first lift. 18:12 I got one more lift I got to go up 18:14 to get as high as we can on this glacier. 18:18 Eventually, the oceans cooled up 18:21 and the air got warmer, the Ice Age was over. 18:26 Warmer air meant that snow and ice 18:28 started to melt, 18:29 and the glaciers started to retreat. 18:32 There's evidence that glaciers and snowfields 18:34 extended as far south as Missouri. 18:38 Scientists have calculated that the Ice Age lasted 18:40 about 700 years. 18:42 That means it would have ended about 4,000 years ago. 18:48 We're getting really high up, we're almost there. 19:19 Wow, what an incredible view? 19:22 We're so high up, we're above the clouds. 19:25 This snow here year-round, I wonder how old the snow is. 19:30 You know, at the earth's poles 19:32 where there's a lot of snow and ice, 19:33 scientists go down there, 19:35 and they drill hole deep down into that ice 19:37 to see if they can learn about the past. 19:40 It's not surprising to learn 19:41 what they find down there in the ice, 19:44 lots of volcanic ash particles. 19:47 That make sense, since all the ash 19:49 would have been in the air for years 19:51 after the flood. 19:53 Well, we are done coming up. 19:55 It's time to go down. Come on. 20:53 Wow, what a day! 20:55 That was an amazing view from Mount Hood. 20:58 It was neat, seeing clouds way below us. 21:01 It was also pretty strange to be on snow 21:03 in the middle of the summer too. 21:06 I've lived most of my life in States with snowy winters, 21:09 but it's still hard to imagine 21:11 the kind of snowstorms 21:12 that fell for years after the flood. 21:15 Well, I need to finish my report up 21:17 and send it over to HQ. 21:19 Remember, if you want to read it, 21:21 just go to our website. 21:26 I was amazed to learn 21:28 that scientists who don't believe in the Bible 21:31 are struggling to explain 21:33 what would cause an Ice Age. 21:37 Models show that during and after the flood, 21:40 the oceans would have warmed up 21:42 and the air would have cooled down. 21:45 It probably would have taken hundreds of years 21:47 for all of this to return back to normal. 21:50 In the meantime, 21:52 these events could have caused 21:54 centuries of intense snowstorms. 21:59 You know, ice is a very unique compound, 22:01 because it's the same as water, 22:03 and it's also the same as steam. 22:05 They're all forms of water. 22:08 One is a solid, one is a liquid, 22:11 and one is a gas. 22:12 We can also compare that to another three in one 22:16 that sometimes can be a bit confusing. 22:18 The Bible talks about God the Father, the Son, 22:22 and the Holy Spirit. 22:24 Like water, they are also three in one. 22:28 We may never fully understand till we're in heaven. 22:31 For now, it's important to understand 22:34 that the power of this three in one 22:36 is the same one that created us, 22:38 that loves us, and protects us. 22:42 I hope you'll join me again for our next assignment. 22:45 Remember, God the Creator loves what He creates, 22:49 especially you. 22:51 Good night. 23:05 Don't go, we have bloopers. 23:07 Whoa. 23:10 All clear. 23:11 Huge, those huge snow stones. 23:18 I feel like an idiot. 23:20 About 50,000 of... 23:25 No, we're not ready. 23:27 This, as it is, the, the... 23:30 Frozen... 23:40 Fallen, wake up. |
