Let's bow our heads. 00:00:30.89\00:00:32.23 Thank You, Father, for this wonderful day. 00:00:32.26\00:00:35.73 Thank You for the privilege of coming once again here to this 00:00:35.76\00:00:40.17 place in full freedom to open Your Holy Word, and hear Your 00:00:40.20\00:00:45.87 voice speaking to us. 00:00:45.91\00:00:47.24 We ask that You will be present here through the ministration 00:00:47.31\00:00:50.98 of Your Holy Spirit. 00:00:51.01\00:00:52.35 Give us clarity of thought, and give us willing hearts 00:00:52.38\00:00:56.25 to receive Your Word. 00:00:56.28\00:00:57.62 And we thank You for hearing our prayer, for we ask it 00:00:57.65\00:01:01.49 in the precious name of Jesus, Amen. 00:01:01.52\00:01:04.63 The lecture today, and the next lecture 00:01:04.66\00:01:11.67 are very closely linked. 00:01:11.70\00:01:13.90 In fact the lecture today, The Remnant of Her Seed, 00:01:13.94\00:01:19.24 is absolutely indispensible to understand the next lecture, 00:01:19.27\00:01:24.65 which is on the 144,000. 00:01:24.68\00:01:27.98 So what we're going to study today is basic 00:01:28.02\00:01:31.59 to understand our next lecture. 00:01:31.62\00:01:33.86 And I'd like to begin by going to Genesis 3:15, Genesis 3:15. 00:01:33.92\00:01:43.40 At this point Adam and Eve had sinned, and they were shaking 00:01:43.43\00:01:49.40 in the garden because they felt that God was going to implement 00:01:49.44\00:01:54.01 His Word, and they were going to be destroyed. 00:01:54.04\00:01:57.28 Because God had said, The day that you eat from the tree, 00:01:57.31\00:02:00.25 that very day you will surely die. 00:02:00.32\00:02:02.35 But when they were filled with fear, thinking that the sentence 00:02:02.38\00:02:06.79 was going to fall on them, God came down to the garden 00:02:06.86\00:02:10.33 and He spoke to the serpent. 00:02:10.36\00:02:13.29 And I want you to notice four key elements in this verse. 00:02:13.33\00:02:17.77 Genesis 3:15. God is speaking to the serpent, to the Devil. 00:02:17.80\00:02:23.27 That's the first element. 00:02:26.78\00:02:28.11 That is between the serpent. 00:02:31.05\00:02:32.78 That's the second element. 00:02:32.81\00:02:34.18 There's the third element. 00:02:35.22\00:02:36.55 So you'll notice that there's four elements here. 00:02:39.19\00:02:41.62 We have, first of all, enmity. 00:02:41.66\00:02:43.49 Then we have a serpent. 00:02:43.53\00:02:45.16 Then we have a woman. 00:02:45.19\00:02:46.66 And then the serpent has seed, and the woman has Seed. 00:02:46.70\00:02:50.60 And you'll notice that the enmity runs between the serpent 00:02:50.63\00:02:54.67 and the woman, and the serpent's seed, and the woman's Seed. 00:02:54.70\00:02:59.51 But the real enmity is not serpent versus woman, 00:02:59.54\00:03:04.58 or seed versus seed. 00:03:04.61\00:03:06.92 The true enmity is reflected in the last part of the verse. 00:03:06.95\00:03:10.59 Once again it says, And I will put enmity between you 00:03:10.62\00:03:14.29 and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; 00:03:14.32\00:03:18.46 He, that is the Seed of the woman, shall bruise your head,.. 00:03:18.49\00:03:22.83 That is the serpent's head. 00:03:22.86\00:03:24.40 ...and you shall bruise his heel. 00:03:24.43\00:03:27.94 So the great enmity that we find in Genesis 3:15, is between 00:03:27.97\00:03:33.64 the woman's Seed, and the serpent. 00:03:33.68\00:03:35.91 And the prophecy says that the Seed of the woman would crush 00:03:35.94\00:03:41.15 the serpent's head, and the serpent would be successful 00:03:41.18\00:03:44.35 in wounding his heel. 00:03:44.39\00:03:47.12 Now Revelation 12:17 picks up on this verse, on Genesis 3:15. 00:03:47.16\00:03:55.26 Go with me to Revelation 12:17, which we've read before. 00:03:55.30\00:04:00.94 It says there: 00:04:00.97\00:04:02.37 Let's see if we have the same four elements. 00:04:03.81\00:04:06.47 By the way, the dragon in verse 9 of Revelation 12, 00:04:06.51\00:04:09.54 is called the ancient serpent. 00:04:09.58\00:04:11.38 So the dragon is the serpent. So it says: 00:04:11.41\00:04:13.72 Or the serpent. 00:04:14.55\00:04:15.88 See, there you have the enmity. 00:04:17.02\00:04:18.79 There's the third element. 00:04:21.66\00:04:22.99 So you have a dragon, or a serpent. 00:04:23.02\00:04:24.46 You have enmity, or rage, and you have a woman. 00:04:24.49\00:04:28.53 And then it says: 00:04:28.56\00:04:30.07 That is the serpent. 00:04:30.73\00:04:32.07 There you have the enmity again. 00:04:33.80\00:04:35.30 I prefer the King James, with the remnant of her Seed. 00:04:36.87\00:04:41.11 So do we have seed in this verse also? Absolutely. 00:04:45.95\00:04:49.18 We find the same elements in this verse as we 00:04:49.22\00:04:52.59 found in Genesis 3:15. 00:04:52.62\00:04:54.59 We find a woman, we find a serpent, we find enmity, 00:04:54.62\00:05:00.46 and we find the Seed of the woman. 00:05:00.53\00:05:03.57 But you'll notice here in Revelation 12:17 that it's not 00:05:03.60\00:05:09.10 the Seed that is being spoken of, the Seed of the woman, 00:05:09.14\00:05:12.21 but the Seed's seed. 00:05:12.24\00:05:14.88 Notice the last part of the verse. 00:05:14.91\00:05:17.18 It says once again, He went to make war with the 00:05:17.25\00:05:20.82 remnant of her Seed. 00:05:20.85\00:05:23.15 Now the question is, Who is the Seed of the woman? 00:05:23.18\00:05:27.59 Because this is the remnant of the Seed of the woman, 00:05:27.66\00:05:31.23 the remnant of her seed. 00:05:31.26\00:05:32.99 Now the Seed of the woman, we're going to notice, is Jesus. 00:05:33.03\00:05:37.43 But this is the remnant's seed. 00:05:37.47\00:05:41.50 So, in other words, this is the Seed's seed. 00:05:41.54\00:05:44.57 Now let's notice John 12:23, 24, John 12:23, 24. 00:05:44.61\00:05:53.78 Here Jesus is speaking about His death. 00:05:53.82\00:05:57.15 And notice what He says: 00:05:57.19\00:05:58.52 By the way, that's Him. 00:06:03.86\00:06:05.19 It represents Jesus. 00:06:05.23\00:06:06.56 What happens? it sprouts again; and it produces what? 00:06:18.04\00:06:22.78 So you have one Seed, which is a grain of wheat; 00:06:24.71\00:06:28.42 falls into the ground, dies, and as a result of its death 00:06:28.45\00:06:32.95 it sprouts forth, and it brings forth many seeds. 00:06:32.99\00:06:36.29 Are you understanding? 00:06:36.32\00:06:37.66 In other words, these are the seeds of the Seed, 00:06:37.69\00:06:41.36 of the original seed that died and sprouted up. 00:06:41.40\00:06:45.33 Now the question is, who is this solitary Seed who brings many 00:06:45.37\00:06:50.61 seeds into the world? 00:06:50.67\00:06:52.31 Let's go to Galatians 3:16. 00:06:52.34\00:06:57.01 Galatians 3:16 identifies this solitary Seed, 00:06:57.05\00:07:02.45 this grain of wheat that Jesus spoke about. It says: 00:07:02.48\00:07:05.32 So the question is, Who is that solitary Seed, 00:07:21.84\00:07:24.94 that grain of wheat that Jesus spoke about? 00:07:24.97\00:07:27.71 He's talking about Himself. 00:07:27.74\00:07:30.15 But let me ask you, When Jesus died, and sprouted forth to new 00:07:30.18\00:07:34.12 life, or resurrected, Did He provide the means where He 00:07:34.15\00:07:38.09 could have many other seeds? Absolutely. 00:07:38.12\00:07:41.79 Notice Galatians 3:29. It says: 00:07:41.82\00:07:46.06 In other words, we become the Seed's seed. 00:07:53.23\00:07:57.31 Are you following me or are you not following me? 00:07:57.37\00:08:00.11 So in other words, Revelation 12:17 is saying that the 00:08:00.14\00:08:04.81 serpent, or the dragon, was going to be enraged with the 00:08:04.85\00:08:08.22 remnant of her Seed. 00:08:08.25\00:08:10.55 Her Seed is Jesus, so the remnant of her seed would be 00:08:10.62\00:08:14.19 those who were born from Jesus, the Seed's seed, if you please. 00:08:14.22\00:08:19.66 Now you say, Why do you bring this to view? 00:08:19.69\00:08:23.87 There's a very important reason. 00:08:23.90\00:08:26.10 You see, in the book of Revelation, Babylon is not 00:08:26.13\00:08:32.04 a literal city geographically defined. 00:08:32.07\00:08:35.91 Babylon, according to what we've studied, is a worldwide system 00:08:35.94\00:08:40.52 that is at enmity with the people of God. 00:08:40.55\00:08:44.42 The woman, who is called Babylon the harlot, is symbolic. 00:08:44.45\00:08:49.19 The wine that she gets is symbolic. 00:08:49.22\00:08:52.56 Her fornication is symbolic. 00:08:52.59\00:08:54.93 The river that she sits on is symbolic. 00:08:54.93\00:08:58.33 It represents multitudes, nations, tongues, and peoples. 00:08:58.37\00:09:01.54 In other words, Babylon is not literal Babylon 00:09:01.57\00:09:04.24 over in the middle east. 00:09:04.27\00:09:05.61 Babylon is a worldwide, global, spiritual system. 00:09:05.64\00:09:10.28 Now who is the great enemy of Babylon in Scripture? 00:09:10.31\00:09:14.88 Folks, the great enemy of Babylon in Scripture is Israel. 00:09:14.92\00:09:19.02 Now let me ask you, If Babylon is global, or worldwide, 00:09:19.05\00:09:24.36 and spiritual, that must mean that Israel must also be 00:09:24.39\00:09:29.53 global and spiritual. 00:09:29.56\00:09:31.40 Are you understanding what I am saying? 00:09:31.43\00:09:33.13 The citizens of Babylon in Revelation are not citizens 00:09:33.17\00:09:37.24 of the old city in the middle east. 00:09:37.31\00:09:39.57 They're citizens of a worldwide apostate system. 00:09:39.61\00:09:43.01 And so Israel, the enemy of Babylon, must also be 00:09:43.04\00:09:46.65 a worldwide spiritual system. 00:09:46.72\00:09:49.45 And you say, Why do you bring this to view? 00:09:49.48\00:09:51.25 You see, most churches today, most Protestant churches, 00:09:51.29\00:09:55.76 at least of the conservative brand have a very interesting 00:09:55.79\00:09:59.43 idea about Bible prophecy. 00:09:59.46\00:10:01.13 They teach that God has two mutually exclusive peoples. 00:10:01.16\00:10:07.54 The first people of God are the literal Jews, 00:10:07.60\00:10:12.71 in other words literal Israel. 00:10:12.74\00:10:14.98 The second group that belongs to God, or the second people that 00:10:15.01\00:10:20.08 God has, is the Christian church. 00:10:20.12\00:10:23.18 And they believe that God has two totally different plans 00:10:23.22\00:10:27.42 for literal Israel and for the church. 00:10:27.46\00:10:30.19 They actually believe that the church is going to be Raptured 00:10:30.23\00:10:34.23 to heaven seven years before the glorious coming of Jesus. 00:10:34.30\00:10:37.80 And then after the spiritual people of God are Raptured 00:10:37.83\00:10:42.24 to heaven, then God will begin His plan again 00:10:42.27\00:10:45.74 for the literal Jews. 00:10:45.77\00:10:47.51 And some even teach that throughout eternity God is 00:10:47.54\00:10:51.41 going to have a heavenly people, and He's going to 00:10:51.45\00:10:53.58 have an earthly people. 00:10:53.65\00:10:54.98 He's going to have two peoples: literal Israel, 00:10:55.02\00:10:57.45 and the Christian church. 00:10:57.52\00:10:59.65 Now this has very strong implications for what we're 00:10:59.69\00:11:04.33 going to study in our next lecture. 00:11:04.36\00:11:05.86 Because we're going to notice that, according to Scripture, 00:11:05.89\00:11:10.23 there is only one Seed, who is Jesus Christ. 00:11:10.27\00:11:13.07 And there is only one Seed's seed, which are His 00:11:13.10\00:11:17.71 people from all ages. 00:11:17.74\00:11:20.08 And I want you to notice, in ten specific points, how the Bible 00:11:20.14\00:11:25.58 teaches that God has only one Israel, one true people, 00:11:25.61\00:11:29.78 that are not geographically defined, but they're defined 00:11:29.82\00:11:33.72 by their relationship to Jesus Christ. 00:11:33.76\00:11:36.09 So we're going to study ten points. 00:11:36.12\00:11:39.06 The first point is that God has only one fold. 00:11:39.09\00:11:43.50 Jesus has only one fold. 00:11:43.53\00:11:45.90 Notice John 10:16, John 10:16. Jesus says: 00:11:45.93\00:11:54.41 Who are those other sheep that are not of His fold? 00:11:59.21\00:12:02.28 This fold is Israel. 00:12:02.32\00:12:06.02 Jesus says, I was not sent but to the lost sheep 00:12:06.05\00:12:09.12 of the house of Israel, He says several times in the gospels. 00:12:09.16\00:12:12.76 So it says, He says, 00:12:12.79\00:12:14.63 ...two flocks and one shepherd. 00:12:24.41\00:12:26.64 That's not what it says. 00:12:26.68\00:12:28.21 He's going to bring the Gentiles and there will be what? 00:12:28.24\00:12:32.05 one flock, and one shepherd. 00:12:32.08\00:12:35.22 One people of God represented by sheep. 00:12:35.25\00:12:38.79 Let's go to John 11:51, 52. 00:12:38.82\00:12:42.49 We're still showing that Jesus has only one fold not two. 00:12:42.52\00:12:45.69 He doesn't have literal Israel and the Christian church. 00:12:45.73\00:12:48.60 He has one people, one fold, and there's one shepherd. 00:12:48.63\00:12:52.50 John 11:51, 52. You remember that Caiaphas says it's 00:12:52.53\00:12:56.54 necessary for one man to die, and not that 00:12:56.57\00:12:58.91 the nation disappear? Well notice: 00:12:58.94\00:13:00.98 Caiaphas did not say... 00:13:03.01\00:13:04.35 Which nation is that? for literal Israel. 00:13:11.85\00:13:15.32 But now notice: 00:13:16.73\00:13:18.06 How many folds, and how many shepherds? one fold, 00:13:29.87\00:13:33.68 and one shepherd. 00:13:33.74\00:13:35.08 And the fold is composed of Jews and Gentiles, 00:13:35.11\00:13:39.98 literal Israelites who accepted Jesus, and spiritual Israelites. 00:13:40.02\00:13:45.59 Now the second point that I would like us to notice is that 00:13:45.62\00:13:49.02 God has only one Israel, and that Israel is not 00:13:49.06\00:13:53.13 defined geographically. 00:13:53.16\00:13:55.40 It's not defined ethnically. 00:13:55.43\00:13:57.93 It's not defined genetically. 00:13:57.97\00:14:00.57 It's defined relationally. 00:14:00.64\00:14:03.51 In other words, for you to be Israel, you have to have 00:14:03.54\00:14:06.98 a relationship with Jesus Christ. 00:14:07.01\00:14:09.31 You must become the Seed's seed in order to be true Israel. 00:14:09.34\00:14:15.75 Let's go once again to Galatians 3:16. 00:14:15.78\00:14:20.09 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. 00:14:20.16\00:14:23.29 He does not say, and to seeds, as of many, but as of one; 00:14:23.32\00:14:28.36 and to your Seed, who is Christ. 00:14:28.40\00:14:32.03 Who is the only true Seed, according to the apostle Paul? 00:14:32.07\00:14:35.80 Jesus Christ. Now do we become seed also? Yes. 00:14:35.84\00:14:40.04 We become the Seed's seed. 00:14:40.08\00:14:41.41 How is it that we become the Seed's seed? 00:14:41.44\00:14:44.48 Notice what we find in verse 26. 00:14:44.51\00:14:46.88 For you are all sons of God through how? 00:14:46.92\00:14:51.19 faith in Christ Jesus. 00:14:51.22\00:14:53.76 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ 00:14:53.82\00:14:58.03 have put on Christ. 00:14:58.06\00:14:59.73 How do we become the Seed's seed? 00:14:59.76\00:15:01.23 By being what? By being baptized into His church. Verse 28: 00:15:01.26\00:15:07.07 And now notice: 00:15:16.54\00:15:17.88 What makes us children of Abraham, or seed of Abraham? 00:15:24.72\00:15:28.69 The fact that we are related to whom? to Jesus Christ. 00:15:28.72\00:15:32.79 In other words, those who have not received Jesus Christ 00:15:32.83\00:15:36.26 are not really children of Abraham. 00:15:36.30\00:15:38.97 They are not really Israel. 00:15:39.00\00:15:40.80 Are you understanding what I'm saying? 00:15:40.84\00:15:42.27 Notice Romans 2:28, 29, Romans 2:28, 29. 00:15:42.30\00:15:48.31 Do you know that there are Jews that aren't really Jews? 00:15:48.34\00:15:50.61 Do you know what a real Jew is? 00:15:50.65\00:15:53.05 According to the New Testament definition, it is one who has 00:15:53.08\00:15:56.35 accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, be he Jew, literally 00:15:56.38\00:16:01.22 speaking, or be he Gentile. Romans 2:28, 29. 00:16:01.26\00:16:05.46 Let me ask you, Must you have a circumcised and converted 00:16:26.72\00:16:29.35 heart to Jesus Christ? 00:16:29.38\00:16:30.72 Must you have received the Holy Spirit in order to be a true Jew 00:16:30.79\00:16:35.12 according to the New Testament definition? Absolutely! 00:16:35.16\00:16:38.53 Notice Romans 9:6-8, Romans 9:6-8. 00:16:38.56\00:16:44.70 Here the apostle Paul says, 00:16:44.73\00:16:46.37 That's interesting. 00:16:54.04\00:16:55.38 Paul is saying that not all Israelites are Israelites. 00:16:55.41\00:16:58.45 Now who is an Israelite then? 00:16:58.48\00:17:00.95 Notice what he continues saying, verse 7. 00:17:00.98\00:17:02.88 Let me ask you, Is it possible to be the seed of Abraham 00:17:07.29\00:17:09.66 literally, and not be a child, or a son or a daughter of God? 00:17:09.69\00:17:12.93 Absolutely. So he says: 00:17:12.96\00:17:14.83 Let me ask you, Who was it that came from Isaac? 00:17:20.47\00:17:22.80 Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Verse 8. 00:17:22.84\00:17:25.84 That means literal Jews. 00:17:29.04\00:17:30.38 That is of the promise of the Messiah. 00:17:34.35\00:17:35.85 Do you remember the encounter that Jesus had with Nathaniel, 00:17:39.75\00:17:43.63 who became one of His disciples; one of the twelve apostles? 00:17:43.66\00:17:47.30 I want you to notice how the story is told in John 1:47-49. 00:17:47.30\00:17:54.04 It says here: 00:17:54.10\00:17:55.44 Question: If there are Israelites indeed, must there be 00:18:04.95\00:18:11.05 Israelites not indeed? Absolutely! 00:18:11.09\00:18:14.56 Now what made Nathaniel an Israelite indeed? 00:18:14.59\00:18:18.26 Was it because he had blood of Abraham flowing 00:18:18.29\00:18:20.13 through his veins? 00:18:20.16\00:18:21.46 Was it because he lived in the land of Israel? 00:18:21.50\00:18:23.57 Was that defined genetically, or geographically? Absolutely not. 00:18:23.60\00:18:28.14 Let's continue reading. 00:18:28.17\00:18:29.50 By the way, the word indeed there is a Greek word 00:18:29.54\00:18:34.48 that means genuine. 00:18:34.51\00:18:36.24 In other words this is a genuine Israelite in whom is no deceit; 00:18:36.28\00:18:43.28 the same word that's used about the 144,000: In their mouth 00:18:43.32\00:18:47.76 was found no deceit. 00:18:47.79\00:18:49.29 And then verse 48. 00:18:49.32\00:18:51.46 What made him a Jew indeed? 00:18:51.49\00:18:53.40 Interesting that he was under the fig tree, because the fig 00:19:04.71\00:19:07.11 tree represented Israel. 00:19:07.14\00:19:08.48 So you have an Israelite indeed under the symbol 00:19:08.51\00:19:11.11 that represents Israel. 00:19:11.15\00:19:12.68 And then verse 49 shows what made him a true Jew. 00:19:12.71\00:19:17.05 What made Nathaniel a Jew indeed, or an Israelite indeed? 00:19:26.59\00:19:30.70 the fact that he confessed that Jesus was the Son of God; 00:19:30.77\00:19:34.14 that Jesus was the King of Israel. 00:19:34.17\00:19:37.21 The next point that I want us to notice is that 00:19:37.24\00:19:40.38 God has only one body. 00:19:40.41\00:19:43.45 There's only one body of Christ, composed of Jews and Gentiles. 00:19:43.48\00:19:47.98 You see, God doesn't have two bodies. 00:19:48.02\00:19:50.09 God only has one body. 00:19:50.12\00:19:51.45 Christ only has one body. 00:19:51.49\00:19:53.15 Notice Ephesians 2:13-18, Ephesians 2:13-18. 00:19:53.19\00:20:00.23 Here the apostle Paul says: 00:20:00.30\00:20:01.60 Who were those who were far off? the Gentiles. 00:20:12.71\00:20:16.24 You're going to notice it in a minute. 00:20:16.28\00:20:17.61 That is Jesus is our peace. 00:20:20.12\00:20:21.48 In other words, Jew and Gentile He has made one. 00:20:25.39\00:20:27.96 How many new men? 00:20:39.70\00:20:41.04 That's the Gentiles, by the way. 00:20:58.99\00:21:00.56 That's the Jews. 00:21:02.09\00:21:03.43 How many bodies does Jesus have? 00:21:08.70\00:21:10.73 One body is a Jewish body, and the other body 00:21:10.77\00:21:14.54 is a Gentile body. 00:21:14.57\00:21:15.90 No, Jesus has one body composed of Jews and Gentiles: 00:21:15.94\00:21:20.74 one people, one Israel, one fold. 00:21:20.78\00:21:25.45 Notice 1 Corinthians 12:13, 1 Corinthians 12:13, 00:21:25.48\00:21:31.69 on this same point that Jesus Christ has only one body. 00:21:31.72\00:21:34.96 It says there: 00:21:34.99\00:21:36.32 See, Jews and Gentiles. 00:21:45.77\00:21:47.10 By the way, what is the body of Christ? 00:21:55.34\00:21:58.51 The body of Christ is the church. 00:21:58.55\00:22:01.42 I want you to notice that. 00:22:01.45\00:22:03.39 Ephesians 3:6. It says there in Ephesians 3:6 00:22:03.42\00:22:08.02 Listen to this. 00:22:09.46\00:22:10.83 How many heirs does God have? 00:22:12.73\00:22:14.20 He has Gentile heirs and He has Jewish heirs, 00:22:14.30\00:22:17.57 separated one from the other. 00:22:17.60\00:22:18.93 No, it says here: 00:22:18.97\00:22:20.74 a different body. Absolutely. 00:22:47.66\00:22:51.37 Ephesians 1:18 and then we'll read verse 24. 00:22:51.40\00:22:54.74 It says in verse 18, And he... 00:22:54.77\00:22:57.04 That is Jesus. 00:22:57.07\00:22:58.41 ...is the head of the body... 00:22:58.44\00:22:59.77 And what is the body? the church. 00:22:59.81\00:23:02.18 ...who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, 00:23:02.21\00:23:05.15 that in all things he may have the pre-eminence. 00:23:05.18\00:23:08.05 Verse 24: I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, 00:23:08.08\00:23:11.65 and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of 00:23:11.69\00:23:14.62 Christ for the sake of His body, which is what? 00:23:14.66\00:23:18.36 which is the church. 00:23:18.39\00:23:20.33 How many bodies does Jesus have? 00:23:20.40\00:23:22.56 He has two bodies. 00:23:22.60\00:23:25.20 If He had two bodies He would be a monster. 00:23:25.23\00:23:27.77 One head with two bodies? No. 00:23:27.80\00:23:30.87 He's one head, with one body, composed of all of the people 00:23:30.91\00:23:34.94 of God: Jews and Gentiles. 00:23:34.98\00:23:37.71 The next point that I want to make is that God has 00:23:37.75\00:23:41.25 only one chosen city. 00:23:41.28\00:23:42.68 He doesn't have the earthly Jerusalem for the Old Testament 00:23:42.72\00:23:47.22 Jewish saints, and the New Jerusalem for the New Testament 00:23:47.26\00:23:50.59 spiritual Israel saints. 00:23:50.63\00:23:53.16 Absolutely not! There's only one city for both Old and New 00:23:53.19\00:23:57.40 Testament people of God. 00:23:57.43\00:23:59.13 Notice Revelation 21:2, Revelation 21:2. 00:23:59.17\00:24:04.37 Which city is this? It's the New Jerusalem. 00:24:16.35\00:24:19.72 One city, right? Now is that city composed of all of God's 00:24:19.75\00:24:23.93 people from the Old and New Testament? Absolutely. 00:24:23.96\00:24:27.03 Notice Revelation 21:12, Revelation 21:12. 00:24:27.10\00:24:32.07 It's speaking here about the twelve gates of the city. 00:24:32.10\00:24:35.60 It says: 00:24:35.64\00:24:36.97 What is it that is written over the gates? 00:24:48.95\00:24:50.85 the names of the what? of the sons of Jacob, 00:24:50.89\00:24:54.69 of the twelve tribes of Israel. 00:24:54.72\00:24:56.19 Which testament would that be? 00:24:56.22\00:24:57.93 That would be the Old Testament, right? 00:24:57.96\00:25:00.93 But I want you to notice that that same city 00:25:00.96\00:25:03.47 has something else. 00:25:03.50\00:25:04.83 Notice Revelation 21:14, Revelation 21:14. 00:25:04.87\00:25:10.51 Speaking about the same city, it says: 00:25:10.54\00:25:12.44 In other words one city. 00:25:20.55\00:25:21.88 The gates have the names of the tribes, and the foundations 00:25:21.92\00:25:25.75 have the names of the apostles. 00:25:25.79\00:25:27.36 In other words, the city is composed of Old Testament 00:25:27.39\00:25:30.26 Christians and New Testament Christians, 00:25:30.33\00:25:32.66 Old Testament Israel and New Testament Israel in one city. 00:25:32.69\00:25:36.93 By the way, go with me to Hebrews 11, and lets pursue this 00:25:36.97\00:25:41.07 a little bit further. 00:25:41.10\00:25:42.44 Hebrews 11:9, 10 and then we'll jump down to verses 13 to 16. 00:25:42.47\00:25:47.04 Let me ask you, which city did the Old Testament 00:25:47.08\00:25:49.41 heroes look forward to? 00:25:49.44\00:25:50.81 Did Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob look forward to that little city 00:25:50.85\00:25:54.45 over there in the Middle East, where there's so 00:25:54.48\00:25:56.65 much conflict today? 00:25:56.69\00:25:58.02 None of the great heroes of the Old Testament looked forward 00:25:58.05\00:26:02.49 to the earthly Jerusalem. 00:26:02.52\00:26:04.63 They looked forward to the heavenly Jerusalem, 00:26:04.66\00:26:07.23 just like we look forward to the heavenly Jerusalem. 00:26:07.23\00:26:09.76 Notice Hebrews 11:9. 00:26:09.80\00:26:11.83 Speaking about Abraham. 00:26:12.70\00:26:14.27 Notice, he was in the promised land, 00:26:17.77\00:26:19.34 but it was a foreign country. 00:26:19.37\00:26:20.71 This is Abraham. 00:26:28.82\00:26:30.19 Which city did Abraham look forward to? to that little city? 00:26:35.06\00:26:38.39 Is that what God promised Abraham? that little city 00:26:38.43\00:26:41.00 over in the middle east? Of course not! 00:26:41.03\00:26:42.90 He looked forward to the heavenly Jerusalem, 00:26:42.93\00:26:45.10 just like we do today. 00:26:45.13\00:26:46.47 Notice verses 13 through 16. 00:26:46.50\00:26:49.10 Once again this idea is amplified. 00:26:49.14\00:26:51.01 It says, These... speaking about all these heroes 00:26:51.04\00:26:53.58 of the Old Testament. 00:26:53.64\00:26:54.98 See, they knew that this earth wasn't their home. 00:27:06.89\00:27:09.12 They knew that that little strip of land over in the middle east 00:27:09.16\00:27:12.29 wasn't their real home. Notice verse 14: 00:27:12.33\00:27:14.66 Were these people seeking a homeland, yes or no? Absolutely. 00:27:19.40\00:27:22.34 Verse 15. Which was that homeland? 00:27:22.37\00:27:24.74 Interesting! So how many cities does God have? 00:27:45.66\00:27:50.77 One city composed only of Gentiles, 00:27:50.83\00:27:55.84 if it's the New Jerusalem in heaven. 00:27:55.87\00:27:58.27 Is that what the Bible teaches? 00:27:58.31\00:28:00.44 The Bible teaches that there's one city composed of 00:28:00.51\00:28:04.81 the apostles, and the twelve tribes; 00:28:04.85\00:28:08.62 all of God's people in one city. 00:28:08.65\00:28:11.82 Now there's another point that I want to make, 00:28:11.85\00:28:14.32 and this will be point number 5. 00:28:14.36\00:28:15.79 God's people in the Bible are represented by only one woman. 00:28:15.82\00:28:23.30 Listen, if God has two separable peoples, then He has two wives. 00:28:23.37\00:28:29.27 He has two women, and God would be a spiritual bigamist. 00:28:29.30\00:28:33.58 Excuse me for saying that, but it's true. 00:28:33.61\00:28:36.61 Now notice Revelation 12:1, 2. 00:28:36.64\00:28:40.25 This is speaking about the church of the Old Testament; 00:28:40.32\00:28:44.19 the woman of the Old Testament. Notice verse 1: 00:28:44.22\00:28:47.26 This woman represents the Old Testament church. 00:29:02.77\00:29:06.64 And you say, How do we know that? 00:29:06.71\00:29:08.04 It's very simple, because she's pregnant with a child. 00:29:08.08\00:29:11.55 Who is the child? The child is Jesus. 00:29:11.58\00:29:13.95 It has to be the Old Testament church because the child 00:29:13.98\00:29:16.18 hasn't been born yet in verses 1 and 2. 00:29:16.22\00:29:18.29 So this woman represents the Old Testament church. 00:29:18.32\00:29:22.59 And, by the way, did Jesus come from the Old Testament church? 00:29:22.62\00:29:25.96 Was Jesus a descendent of Abraham? 00:29:25.99\00:29:29.36 Was Jesus a descendent of David? 00:29:29.40\00:29:32.60 He most certainly was. 00:29:32.63\00:29:33.97 Jesus was born from the Old Testament church. 00:29:34.04\00:29:37.04 But now I want you to notice that after the child is 00:29:37.11\00:29:40.68 caught up to God into His throne, notice verse 5: 00:29:40.71\00:29:42.71 In other words, after Jesus ascends to heaven, 00:29:50.32\00:29:53.29 then the dragon goes after whom? 00:29:53.36\00:29:55.79 He goes after the woman. 00:29:55.82\00:29:57.66 Is it a different woman, or is it the same woman? 00:29:57.69\00:30:00.33 It's the same woman. 00:30:00.40\00:30:01.70 Notice verse 6. It says: 00:30:01.73\00:30:03.93 Does the same woman flee into the wilderness as the one who 00:30:15.14\00:30:20.08 brought forth the male child? Yes. 00:30:20.12\00:30:22.28 The woman that brought forth the male child represents 00:30:22.32\00:30:25.22 the Old Testament church from where Jesus was born. 00:30:25.25\00:30:28.02 But then afterwards that same woman now flees 00:30:28.06\00:30:31.16 into the wilderness. 00:30:31.19\00:30:32.53 So much for the idea that God had an Old Testament woman, 00:30:32.56\00:30:36.80 which would be literal Israel, and then He has a separable 00:30:36.83\00:30:40.97 people which are the Gentiles in the New Testament period. 00:30:41.00\00:30:44.24 The Bible says that God only has one woman. 00:30:44.27\00:30:48.14 Jesus Christ has only one wife. 00:30:48.18\00:30:51.08 He does not have two wives: literal Israel 00:30:51.11\00:30:53.75 and spiritual Israel. 00:30:53.78\00:30:55.58 And, by the way, by choosing twelve apostles, 00:30:55.62\00:30:59.59 Jesus Christ was trying to teach that He was continuing Israel. 00:30:59.62\00:31:04.86 Don't you think that Jesus chose twelve apostles just because 00:31:04.89\00:31:08.23 He liked the number. 00:31:08.26\00:31:09.60 He says, Oh, twelve, that's a nice number, isn't it? 00:31:09.63\00:31:11.17 There were twelve tribes, so let's just choose twelve 00:31:11.20\00:31:13.17 twelve apostles, No. 00:31:13.20\00:31:14.54 Jesus chose twelve apostles intentionally. 00:31:14.57\00:31:17.37 How do we know that? 00:31:17.41\00:31:19.11 We know that because before the day of Pentecost, 00:31:19.14\00:31:22.74 in Acts 1, before God could pour out His Holy Spirit, 00:31:22.78\00:31:26.58 it was necessary to elect apostle number twelve 00:31:26.61\00:31:29.92 in place of Judas, because Judas had apostatized. 00:31:29.95\00:31:34.06 There needed to be how many? twelve. 00:31:34.12\00:31:36.02 And let me explain very briefly why there had to be twelve. 00:31:36.06\00:31:38.56 You see, the high priest, in the sanctuary, had twelve stones 00:31:38.59\00:31:44.23 on his breastplate, which represented God's people, 00:31:44.27\00:31:47.70 the twelve tribes of Israel. 00:31:47.74\00:31:49.20 Now Jesus was going to begin His high priestly ministry 00:31:49.24\00:31:52.67 in the heavenly sanctuary. 00:31:52.71\00:31:54.04 He couldn't begin it with only eleven stones 00:31:54.11\00:31:57.38 on His breastplate. 00:31:57.41\00:31:58.75 He had to have all twelve representing 00:31:58.78\00:32:01.28 all of God's people; the nucleus of His New Testament church. 00:32:01.32\00:32:04.65 In other words, the number twelve represents God's people 00:32:04.69\00:32:08.26 from all ages, Old Testament and New Testament. 00:32:08.29\00:32:12.73 The next point that I would like to make, 00:32:12.76\00:32:15.10 and I believe it's number six, is that Christ's kingdom 00:32:15.13\00:32:18.33 is illustrated by only one olive tree. 00:32:18.37\00:32:22.17 Now I'm going to tell you a few things about that olive tree. 00:32:22.20\00:32:25.97 It's found in Romans 11, and in a moment we're going to go to 00:32:26.01\00:32:29.31 the verses, but I want you to have something clear 00:32:29.34\00:32:31.98 before we read the verses. 00:32:32.01\00:32:33.52 This olive tree has natural branches, and those natural 00:32:33.58\00:32:39.39 branches are retained in the tree. 00:32:39.42\00:32:41.46 In other words, those natural branches are never cut off. 00:32:41.49\00:32:43.79 They are retained in the olive tree. 00:32:43.83\00:32:46.86 These represent the Jews who believed in, and accepted Jesus 00:32:46.90\00:32:51.80 Christ as Savior and Lord. 00:32:51.83\00:32:53.17 The literal Jews are the natural branches that were never 00:32:53.20\00:32:57.07 cut off, because they received the Messiah. 00:32:57.14\00:32:58.97 Then you have natural branches who were cut off. 00:32:59.01\00:33:02.24 They represent the literal Jews who rejected Jesus Christ, 00:33:02.28\00:33:06.92 because the tree trunk represents Jesus. 00:33:06.95\00:33:09.45 Then there were natural branches who were cut off, 00:33:09.48\00:33:12.32 but then they were grafted into the tree again. 00:33:12.35\00:33:14.89 That represents the Jews that initially rejected Jesus, 00:33:14.92\00:33:17.96 but then they accepted Him afterwards. 00:33:17.99\00:33:20.90 You see, what is it that determines whether you 00:33:20.93\00:33:23.63 belong to the tree or not? 00:33:23.67\00:33:25.00 What determines it is your relationship to whom? 00:33:25.03\00:33:27.74 to Jesus Christ. But then the olive tree also has some wild 00:33:27.77\00:33:33.34 olive branches grafted into it. 00:33:33.38\00:33:35.91 Now who would the wild olive branches grafted 00:33:35.94\00:33:40.18 into the tree represent? 00:33:40.22\00:33:41.55 They represent the Gentiles. 00:33:41.58\00:33:43.49 But notice that they belong to the same tree. 00:33:43.55\00:33:45.92 It's not a different tree. 00:33:45.95\00:33:47.62 It's the same tree. 00:33:47.66\00:33:48.99 And, by the way, the apostle Paul says, If you don't believe 00:33:49.02\00:33:53.76 in Jesus, then you'll be cut off, too. 00:33:53.80\00:33:56.73 And so you have this idea of one tree with natural branches, 00:33:56.80\00:34:02.17 wild olive branches, and what determines whether you belong 00:34:02.20\00:34:05.74 to the tree or not is your attitude, 00:34:05.77\00:34:09.01 and your relationship to Jesus Christ. 00:34:09.04\00:34:11.51 Let's read Romans 11 beginning with verse 17. 00:34:11.55\00:34:14.65 And it's a rather long passage, but lets go through it. 00:34:14.68\00:34:16.92 The apostle Paul says, 00:34:16.99\00:34:18.92 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, 00:34:18.95\00:34:22.79 being a wild olive tree,... 00:34:22.82\00:34:24.36 This is now speaking about the Gentiles. 00:34:24.39\00:34:27.13 ...He says to the Gentiles. 00:34:36.67\00:34:38.01 Don't think that you're so great because you were grafted in. 00:34:38.04\00:34:40.18 Of course the root represents whom? Jesus. 00:34:46.25\00:34:49.12 ...says the apostle Paul. 00:34:55.52\00:34:56.93 Unbelief in whom? 00:34:59.36\00:35:01.20 The natural branches were broken off because of 00:35:01.23\00:35:04.10 unbelief in Jesus. 00:35:04.17\00:35:05.50 How? You say the reason you're grafted in 00:35:07.24\00:35:09.74 is because you have what? faith. 00:35:09.77\00:35:11.77 Faith in whom? in Jesus. 00:35:11.81\00:35:13.98 See, they'll be grafted into their own tree. 00:35:39.67\00:35:41.57 He's speaking about literal Israel. 00:36:07.50\00:36:09.16 And so some say, See, it says there that all Israel someday 00:36:16.10\00:36:20.08 is going to be saved. 00:36:20.11\00:36:21.44 But they don't take into account what comes immediately before. 00:36:21.48\00:36:24.05 You see, what is all Israel, according to the 00:36:24.08\00:36:26.75 preceding context? 00:36:26.82\00:36:28.15 According to the preceding context, all Israel will be 00:36:28.18\00:36:31.62 saved, means all faithful Israel that has been 00:36:31.65\00:36:34.79 grafted into the tree. 00:36:34.82\00:36:36.16 Natural branches that have remained, 00:36:36.19\00:36:39.39 natural branches that were cut off and grafted in again, 00:36:39.43\00:36:42.60 and wild olive branches that were taken off of a wild olive 00:36:42.63\00:36:46.94 tree and grafted into the natural olive tree. 00:36:47.00\00:36:50.57 In other words, the context indicates that when the apostle 00:36:50.61\00:36:54.44 Paul says, All Israel will be saved, he means all faithful 00:36:54.48\00:36:58.18 Israel, who have been grafted into the tree, 00:36:58.21\00:37:00.55 into the root, Jesus Christ. 00:37:00.58\00:37:02.72 And so it says, And so all Israel will be saved, 00:37:02.75\00:37:05.19 as it is written: 00:37:05.22\00:37:06.62 So how many trees illustrate the people of God? 00:37:17.57\00:37:20.77 Does God have two separable trees? 00:37:20.84\00:37:23.14 Does He have two separable wives? 00:37:23.17\00:37:25.64 Does He have two separable bodies? 00:37:25.67\00:37:27.61 Does He have two separable folds? 00:37:27.64\00:37:29.61 Does He have two separable Israel's? 00:37:29.64\00:37:31.98 Not according to Scripture. 00:37:32.01\00:37:33.75 He has one people; one faithful people who are determined 00:37:33.82\00:37:38.25 by their relationship to Jesus Christ. 00:37:38.29\00:37:40.69 Now our next point is that there is only going to be one banquet 00:37:40.76\00:37:44.96 table in the kingdom for Jews and Gentiles. 00:37:44.99\00:37:47.93 You know, Jesus had just healed the servant of a Centurion. 00:37:47.96\00:37:53.70 You know what a Centurion was, right? 00:37:53.74\00:37:55.90 He was the head of eleven soldiers in the Roman army, 00:37:55.94\00:37:59.54 in the Roman legions, is the way that they were called. 00:37:59.57\00:38:02.98 And Jesus had just healed his servant. 00:38:03.01\00:38:05.55 And I want you to notice what Jesus said to those who were 00:38:05.58\00:38:09.95 watching there and listening to what He had done 00:38:09.98\00:38:14.52 for this Centurion. 00:38:14.56\00:38:16.62 Notice Matthew 8:11, 12. Jesus says: 00:38:16.66\00:38:21.13 And I say to you, that many will come from east and west,... 00:38:21.16\00:38:25.53 Do you know who those are? the Gentiles. 00:38:25.57\00:38:28.77 ...many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, 00:38:28.80\00:38:34.01 Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 00:38:34.08\00:38:37.45 Were Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob faithful? 00:38:37.48\00:38:41.15 Were they faithful Israelites? 00:38:41.18\00:38:43.59 Did they look forward to the Messiah? 00:38:43.62\00:38:45.25 Jesus said, Abraham saw My day and what? rejoiced. John 8:56. 00:38:45.29\00:38:50.43 These all saw the Messiah coming in the future. 00:38:50.46\00:38:53.60 They accepted Jesus Christ in promise. 00:38:53.63\00:38:56.20 So it says once again, And I say to you that many will come from 00:38:56.23\00:38:59.67 east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob 00:38:59.70\00:39:03.84 in the kingdom of heaven: But the sons of the kingdom... 00:39:03.87\00:39:07.11 Who are those? the sons of the kingdom? the literal Jews. 00:39:07.14\00:39:11.01 ...the sons of the kingdom... 00:39:11.05\00:39:12.38 That reject Jesus, incidentally. 00:39:12.41\00:39:14.35 ...will be cast out into outer darkness: there will be weeping 00:39:14.38\00:39:18.92 and gnashing of teeth. 00:39:18.95\00:39:20.69 How many tables are there going to be in the kingdom? 00:39:20.72\00:39:23.39 How many banquet tables? 00:39:23.46\00:39:24.86 One for the Jews, and the other one on the other side of 00:39:24.89\00:39:28.03 town for the Gentiles? Absolutely not! 00:39:28.06\00:39:30.97 One table, composed of Jews and Gentiles. 00:39:31.00\00:39:34.94 Next point: Jesus Christ has only one spiritual temple. 00:39:34.97\00:39:40.01 Notice what we find in Ephesians 2:19-22, Ephesians 2:19-22. 00:39:40.08\00:39:48.22 Here the apostle Paul says, Now therefore you are no longer 00:39:48.25\00:39:51.99 strangers and foreigners,... 00:39:52.02\00:39:54.06 Speaking about the Gentiles, very clearly. 00:39:54.09\00:39:57.13 Now therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, 00:39:57.16\00:40:00.10 but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of 00:40:00.13\00:40:06.40 the household of God. 00:40:06.43\00:40:07.80 Does that sound like they're a separable people? 00:40:07.84\00:40:10.31 Absolutely not! So he says, 00:40:10.37\00:40:13.07 Now therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, 00:40:13.11\00:40:15.54 but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of 00:40:15.58\00:40:18.65 the household of God; having been built on the foundation 00:40:18.68\00:40:23.15 of the apostles and prophets,... 00:40:23.18\00:40:25.29 Is that Old and New Testament? apostles and prophets? Yes. 00:40:25.32\00:40:28.76 ...upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, 00:40:28.79\00:40:31.46 Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone;... 00:40:31.49\00:40:36.60 What determines whether you belong to the temple? 00:40:36.63\00:40:39.17 to the one temple or not? 00:40:39.20\00:40:40.57 Whether you're built on the foundation of the apostles 00:40:40.60\00:40:42.50 and prophets; Old/New Testament. 00:40:42.54\00:40:43.94 But the chief cornerstone that you build on is whom? 00:40:43.97\00:40:47.11 Jesus Christ. Now notice what it continues saying. 00:40:47.14\00:40:50.08 In whom the whole building... 00:40:50.11\00:40:52.45 That is the temple. 00:40:52.48\00:40:53.85 ...being joined together grows into a holy temple in the Lord: 00:40:53.88\00:41:00.19 In whom you also... 00:41:00.26\00:41:02.72 He's speaking to the Gentiles. 00:41:02.76\00:41:04.13 In whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place 00:41:04.16\00:41:08.00 of God in the Spirit. 00:41:08.03\00:41:10.53 How many temples does Jesus have? 00:41:10.57\00:41:12.90 He has one temple with foundations from Old 00:41:12.93\00:41:16.57 and the New Testament, apostles and prophets. 00:41:16.60\00:41:18.94 Jesus Christ is the chief corner stone of the one temple, 00:41:18.97\00:41:22.58 and the temple is composed of Jews and Gentiles. 00:41:22.61\00:41:27.32 So, by the way, when prophecy says that the antichrist 00:41:27.38\00:41:31.52 is going to sit in the temple of God, showing himself to be God, 00:41:31.55\00:41:36.46 what temple is that talking about? 00:41:36.49\00:41:38.66 Is that talking about the literal Jewish temple 00:41:38.69\00:41:41.76 over in the Middle East where a nasty individual is going to sit 00:41:41.80\00:41:45.23 after the rapture of the church? 00:41:45.27\00:41:47.20 Never does the apostle Paul use the word temple in that sense. 00:41:47.27\00:41:51.34 You see, this is a spiritual temple, 00:41:51.37\00:41:54.48 with spiritual foundations, a spiritual chief cornerstone, 00:41:54.51\00:41:59.28 and spiritual stones built up upon the foundation, 00:41:59.31\00:42:03.59 as 1 Peter 2 says. 00:42:03.62\00:42:06.39 The next point that I would like to make is that the 00:42:06.42\00:42:10.43 redeemed from every nation, kindred, tongue, and people 00:42:10.46\00:42:13.80 will sing only one song. 00:42:13.83\00:42:17.53 You say, What's that? 00:42:17.57\00:42:18.90 You mean to say that the Jews aren't going to sing 00:42:18.93\00:42:21.50 The song of Moses? and the redeemed at the end 00:42:21.54\00:42:24.27 are going to sing the song of the Lamb? 00:42:24.31\00:42:25.77 Go with me to Revelation 15: 3, 4, Revelation 15:3, 4. 00:42:25.81\00:42:33.38 It's speaking about the redeemed. It says: 00:42:33.42\00:42:35.18 Is that Old and New Testament, by the way? 00:42:41.59\00:42:45.16 Was Moses in the Old Testament? Yes. 00:42:45.19\00:42:47.93 The Lamb, the New Testament. 00:42:47.96\00:42:50.90 And so it says: They sing the song of Moses, the servant 00:42:50.93\00:42:54.30 of God and the song of the Lamb saying, Great and marvelous are 00:42:54.34\00:42:57.91 Your works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Your ways, 00:42:57.94\00:43:01.61 O King of the saints. 00:43:01.64\00:43:02.98 So the redeemed will sing only one song, and it is the song of 00:43:14.26\00:43:18.29 Moses and the Lamb. 00:43:18.33\00:43:19.93 One song that includes Old Testament 00:43:20.00\00:43:22.53 and New Testament Christians. 00:43:22.56\00:43:26.13 Another point that I would like to make, and I believe that 00:43:26.17\00:43:29.14 this is number 10, is that the redeemed will 00:43:29.17\00:43:31.87 have only one father. 00:43:31.91\00:43:33.24 And that one father is defined by your 00:43:33.27\00:43:36.95 relationship to Jesus Christ. 00:43:37.01\00:43:38.58 Only those who have received Jesus are technically sons 00:43:38.61\00:43:43.02 and daughters of God. 00:43:43.05\00:43:44.39 It doesn't matter if you're a literal Jew 00:43:44.42\00:43:46.65 or if you're a Gentile. 00:43:46.72\00:43:48.12 If you receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord, 00:43:48.16\00:43:50.93 you are a brother or sister of Jesus, and therefore a son 00:43:50.96\00:43:55.06 or a daughter of God. 00:43:55.10\00:43:57.00 Notice Galatians 3:26, Galatians 3:26. 00:43:57.03\00:44:03.20 How is it that we become sons and daughters of God? 00:44:13.08\00:44:15.58 through faith in Christ Jesus. 00:44:15.62\00:44:18.02 So let me ask you, What if we don't have 00:44:18.05\00:44:19.79 faith in Christ Jesus, like most of those who are over 00:44:19.82\00:44:23.83 They don't have faith in Jesus Christ. 00:44:24.26\00:44:25.89 Are they sons and daughters of God in the spiritual 00:44:25.93\00:44:28.86 sense of the word? 00:44:28.90\00:44:30.23 By creation, yes, but not by redemption. 00:44:30.27\00:44:33.30 Notice John 1:12, 13, John 1: 12, 13. 00:44:33.34\00:44:39.21 Notice this, very clear. 00:44:39.24\00:44:41.18 But as many as received Him,... 00:44:41.21\00:44:43.31 That is received Jesus. 00:44:43.35\00:44:44.85 ...to them He gave the right to become children of God. 00:44:44.88\00:44:49.02 How do we become children of God? those who what? 00:44:49.05\00:44:52.42 received Him, to them He gave the right to 00:44:52.45\00:44:55.96 become children of God. 00:44:55.99\00:44:57.33 To those who believe in His what? name. 00:44:57.39\00:45:01.86 Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, 00:45:01.90\00:45:05.33 nor of the will of man, but of God. 00:45:05.37\00:45:09.30 So let me explain how this works. 00:45:09.34\00:45:12.14 It's very interesting. 00:45:12.17\00:45:14.28 See, the only individual who really deserves to be called 00:45:14.31\00:45:18.05 the Son of God is Jesus Christ. 00:45:18.08\00:45:20.02 We are all, all the rest of us juvenile delinquents. 00:45:20.05\00:45:23.99 In other words, we are alienated. 00:45:24.02\00:45:28.42 We are by nature children of wrath, according to the Bible. 00:45:28.46\00:45:31.66 In sin our mother conceived us, the Scripture says. 00:45:31.69\00:45:35.20 So we're alienated from the covenants of the promise. 00:45:35.23\00:45:38.27 We belong to the family of the first Adam; 00:45:38.30\00:45:40.10 the family of the lost. 00:45:40.14\00:45:41.47 So the question is, How do we join the family of the saved? 00:45:41.50\00:45:46.84 Well, Jesus is the only one who deserves to be called the Son of 00:45:46.88\00:45:50.31 God; the only faithful Son of God. 00:45:50.35\00:45:52.71 So do you know what happens? 00:45:52.75\00:45:54.55 When I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior and as my Lord, 00:45:54.58\00:45:57.89 and I believe and have faith in His name? 00:45:57.92\00:46:01.36 I become His brother, or I become His sister. 00:46:01.39\00:46:08.30 And so now, because I'm a brother of Jesus, 00:46:08.33\00:46:12.40 because I receive Him as my Savior, now Jesus comes before 00:46:12.43\00:46:16.57 the Father and He says, Father, I have a new brother. 00:46:16.60\00:46:19.24 Oh really, what's his name? 00:46:19.27\00:46:21.71 Well, his name is Pastor Stephen Bohr. 00:46:21.74\00:46:24.45 The Father says, No kidding! 00:46:24.48\00:46:26.82 Stephen Bohr is your brother? 00:46:26.85\00:46:28.18 Well, if he's your brother, He's My Son, too. 00:46:28.22\00:46:30.89 In other words, the only way in which we can be sons and 00:46:30.92\00:46:36.09 daughters of God, is become brothers or 00:46:36.12\00:46:38.86 sisters of Jesus Christ. 00:46:38.89\00:46:40.73 That's why we're told in Hebrews 2 that He is not ashamed 00:46:40.80\00:46:44.50 to call us brethren. 00:46:44.53\00:46:46.30 And that's what Jesus meant when He said in John 14:6, 00:46:46.33\00:46:49.64 I am the way, the truth, and the life. 00:46:49.67\00:46:52.27 No man comes onto the Father except by me. 00:46:52.31\00:46:56.81 Only through Him do we become Sons and Daughters of God. 00:46:56.85\00:47:00.65 So if we have not accepted Jesus Christ, we do not belong 00:47:00.68\00:47:04.02 to the family of God. 00:47:04.05\00:47:05.39 And I know that that's not a popular thing to say, 00:47:05.42\00:47:08.32 because everybody's, Oh, we're all God's children. 00:47:08.36\00:47:11.79 We are God's children by creation. 00:47:11.83\00:47:14.96 But we have to become His children by redemption, 00:47:15.00\00:47:18.07 or else we will be eternally lost children. 00:47:18.10\00:47:21.57 Now I want you to notice John 8: 32-44. 00:47:21.60\00:47:26.01 Here Jesus is speaking to a group of literal Jews. 00:47:26.04\00:47:29.88 He says to them, "And you shall know the truth, 00:47:29.91\00:47:33.62 and the truth shall make you free. " 00:47:33.65\00:47:36.28 They answered Him, We are Abraham's descendents. 00:47:36.32\00:47:39.52 Actually in the Greek it says, We are Abraham's seed. 00:47:39.55\00:47:42.06 It's the same word that's used elsewhere. 00:47:42.09\00:47:44.26 We are Abraham's seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. 00:47:44.33\00:47:49.13 How can you say, You will be made free? 00:47:49.16\00:47:52.07 Jesus answered them, Most assuredly I say to you, 00:47:52.10\00:47:56.04 Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 00:47:56.07\00:47:58.47 See, He's speaking spiritually. 00:47:58.51\00:47:59.84 He's not speaking literally. 00:47:59.87\00:48:01.28 And a slave does not abide in the house forever: 00:48:01.31\00:48:04.21 but a what? a son abides forever. 00:48:04.28\00:48:07.35 He's saying, If you haven't received Me, 00:48:07.38\00:48:09.22 you are slaves of sin. 00:48:09.25\00:48:11.39 And if you're slaves of sin, then you're not a son. 00:48:11.42\00:48:14.96 He says, But a son abides forever. 00:48:14.99\00:48:18.59 Therefore if the son makes you free,... 00:48:18.63\00:48:21.86 That is if I make you free, you shall be free what? free indeed. 00:48:21.90\00:48:26.37 And then He says, I know that you are Abraham's seed. 00:48:26.40\00:48:29.50 I know that you're literally Abraham's seed, 00:48:29.54\00:48:32.57 is what Jesus is saying, but you seek to kill Me, 00:48:32.61\00:48:35.24 because My Word has no place in you. 00:48:35.28\00:48:37.25 I speak what I have seen with My Father. 00:48:37.28\00:48:40.02 You do what you have seen with your Father. 00:48:40.05\00:48:42.58 They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father. 00:48:42.62\00:48:46.05 Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do 00:48:46.09\00:48:50.13 the works of Abraham. 00:48:50.16\00:48:51.49 Now He's going to say, You're not Abraham's children at all. 00:48:51.53\00:48:53.50 I know that you literally are, physically are, but you really 00:48:53.53\00:48:56.73 are not Abraham's children. 00:48:56.77\00:48:58.10 You're not Abraham's seed. 00:48:58.13\00:48:59.47 Verse 40. But now you seek to kill Me, a man who has told you 00:48:59.50\00:49:03.54 the truth, which I heard from God. 00:49:03.57\00:49:05.01 Abraham did not do this. 00:49:05.04\00:49:07.21 You do the deeds of your father. 00:49:07.24\00:49:10.81 Then they said to Him, We were not born of fornication. 00:49:10.88\00:49:13.65 We have one Father, God. 00:49:13.68\00:49:16.02 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me: 00:49:16.05\00:49:19.52 for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of 00:49:19.55\00:49:23.16 Myself, but He sent Me. 00:49:23.19\00:49:24.76 In other words, Jesus is saying, Abraham loved Me. 00:49:24.79\00:49:28.16 My Father loves Me. 00:49:28.20\00:49:29.93 You hate Me, so how can you say that My Father is Your 00:49:29.96\00:49:33.94 Father, and that Abraham is your father, 00:49:33.97\00:49:36.10 because your spirit is totally opposite? 00:49:36.14\00:49:38.94 Verse 43. Why do you not understand My speech? 00:49:38.97\00:49:42.28 because you are not able to listen to My Word. 00:49:42.31\00:49:44.48 Jesus did say some politically incorrect things. 00:49:47.15\00:49:50.49 In fact, the apostle Paul in Galatians 4 speaks about Hagar 00:50:08.24\00:50:13.94 and Sarah, and Ishmael and Isaac. 00:50:13.98\00:50:17.75 You know, the Jews claimed to be descendents of whom? 00:50:17.78\00:50:21.15 of Sarah and Isaac. 00:50:21.18\00:50:22.98 But do you know what the apostle Paul says 00:50:23.02\00:50:25.22 in Galatians 4? He says, You folks, the Jerusalem that is 00:50:25.25\00:50:29.46 now, and the Jews that were at mount Sinai, He says, 00:50:29.49\00:50:33.29 You are sons and daughters of Hagar and Ishmael. 00:50:33.36\00:50:36.90 In other words, He's saying, He's to them, You are not 00:50:36.93\00:50:42.20 children of Isaac. 00:50:42.24\00:50:44.17 You are children of the slave woman. 00:50:44.24\00:50:46.94 In other words, what determines whether you belong to the people 00:50:47.01\00:50:51.35 of God is your relationship to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. 00:50:51.38\00:50:56.95 Now I want to go through this very quickly, because we have 00:50:57.02\00:51:00.66 a very short period of time left. 00:51:00.69\00:51:03.22 And so I'm just going to synthesize the last part 00:51:03.26\00:51:05.76 of what you have on your sheets. 00:51:05.79\00:51:07.73 In Deuteronomy 28:63, 64 God promised Israel that if they 00:51:07.76\00:51:13.10 were unfaithful to Him, He would scatter them among the nations. 00:51:13.13\00:51:16.97 But then He promised in Deuteronomy 30:3-5 that if they 00:51:17.01\00:51:22.41 repented, and they returned to the Lord, the Lord would gather 00:51:22.44\00:51:27.52 them from where He had scattered them. 00:51:27.58\00:51:30.05 So these are the scattering and gathering prophecies. 00:51:30.09\00:51:34.26 Now it's important to realize that the gathering, and the 00:51:34.29\00:51:38.83 scattering, the important aspect was not the land. 00:51:38.86\00:51:43.16 In other words, what I'm saying is God had chosen the land 00:51:43.20\00:51:47.64 as His dwelling place. 00:51:47.67\00:51:49.00 And so if they had a bad relationship with Him in the 00:51:49.04\00:51:52.01 land, they would be scattered. 00:51:52.04\00:51:53.94 If they had a good relationship with Him in the land, 00:51:54.01\00:51:58.15 they would be gathered. 00:51:58.18\00:51:59.65 In other words, the key was not to be gathered to the land, 00:51:59.68\00:52:02.82 the key was to be gathered to the Lord, who was in the land. 00:52:02.85\00:52:06.52 Now Jesus gave a profound interpretation to the gathering 00:52:06.55\00:52:11.36 and the scattering prophecies. 00:52:11.39\00:52:13.40 In fact Jesus is going to say, Do you know that it's possible 00:52:13.43\00:52:16.53 for you to live in Jerusalem and still be scattered? 00:52:16.56\00:52:18.90 And it's possible for you to live out there among the 00:52:21.24\00:52:24.27 Gentiles and to be gathered. 00:52:24.31\00:52:25.81 You say, Now how is that? 00:52:25.84\00:52:27.54 Go with me to Luke 11, Luke 11: 23. Jesus says here: 00:52:27.58\00:52:33.78 He who is not with me... 00:52:33.82\00:52:35.82 He who is not what? who is not with Me, he is against Me. 00:52:35.85\00:52:40.72 And He who does not gather with Me scatters. 00:52:40.76\00:52:44.09 What was the key? being gathered to the land, or being gathered 00:52:44.13\00:52:46.86 to the Lord? It was being gathered to the Lord. 00:52:46.90\00:52:49.63 And Jesus says, If you don't gather to Me, you what? 00:52:49.66\00:52:53.40 you scatter. Let's go once again to the experience of Caiaphas 00:52:53.47\00:52:59.67 when he said, It's necessary for one man to die, and not that the 00:52:59.71\00:53:04.28 whole nation perish. John 11:51, 52. 00:53:04.31\00:53:07.62 It explains what this means. 00:53:07.65\00:53:09.55 He prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation; 00:53:09.58\00:53:12.65 And not for that nation only, but also that he would what? 00:53:12.69\00:53:17.46 that he would gather in one the children of God who were 00:53:17.53\00:53:23.23 what? scattered. But they were going to be gathered to where? 00:53:23.26\00:53:26.43 Was the key being gathered to Jerusalem the place? 00:53:26.47\00:53:29.74 Or was the key being gathered to the Lord? 00:53:29.77\00:53:32.61 It was to be gathered to the Lord, even though they lived 00:53:32.64\00:53:35.81 all over the Roman empire. 00:53:35.84\00:53:37.51 By the way, when Jesus left the Jewish temple, 00:53:37.55\00:53:41.25 notice what He said: Matthew 23: 37, 38. 00:53:41.28\00:53:44.85 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets, 00:53:44.89\00:53:48.82 and stones those who are sent to her. 00:53:48.86\00:53:51.43 How often I wanted to... 00:53:51.46\00:53:53.66 What's the key word there? 00:53:53.70\00:53:55.00 ...I wanted to gather you as a hen gathers her 00:53:55.03\00:54:00.04 chicks under her wings... 00:54:00.07\00:54:01.40 Who were they going to be gathered to? the city, the land, 00:54:01.44\00:54:05.74 or the Lord? the Lord. 00:54:05.77\00:54:08.21 And then He says, but you were not willing. 00:54:08.24\00:54:13.31 See your house is left to you desolate. 00:54:13.35\00:54:16.82 And, by the way, in another gospel He speaks about them 00:54:16.89\00:54:19.72 being scattered among the nations, because they refused 00:54:19.75\00:54:23.09 to be gathered to the Lord. 00:54:23.12\00:54:24.83 Jesus explains what it means to be gathered in Matthew 18:20. 00:54:24.86\00:54:30.13 He says: For where two or three are what? gathered together 00:54:30.17\00:54:41.51 in My name, I am there in the midst of them. 00:54:41.54\00:54:45.65 Let me ask you then, Where is the holy land? 00:54:45.71\00:54:47.62 The holy land is where Jesus is. 00:54:50.99\00:54:53.42 And where is Jesus? 00:54:53.46\00:54:55.49 He's in heaven, but spiritually He's where? all over the world, 00:54:55.52\00:55:01.16 through the presence of the Holy Spirit. 00:55:01.20\00:55:02.96 So where is Jesus? 00:55:03.00\00:55:04.53 Jesus is worldwide through the ministration of the Holy Spirit. 00:55:04.57\00:55:08.90 And where there are two or three gathered in His name, 00:55:08.94\00:55:11.67 there is the holy land, because present there is the Holy Lord. 00:55:11.71\00:55:17.15 In other words, it wasn't the land that was important, 00:55:17.18\00:55:21.32 it was the Lord in the land. 00:55:21.35\00:55:23.15 If they had a bad relationship with the Lord in the land, 00:55:23.18\00:55:26.25 they were scattered. 00:55:26.29\00:55:27.66 If they repented they were once again gathered. 00:55:27.69\00:55:29.96 But the key was the Lord not the land. 00:55:30.03\00:55:32.56 Now let me as you, When were these prophecies of the 00:55:32.59\00:55:36.00 gathering finally fulfilled? those who were scattered? 00:55:36.03\00:55:39.63 When were these prophecies fulfilled that they were 00:55:39.67\00:55:42.10 gathered into one? 00:55:42.14\00:55:44.84 Acts 2 has the answer, verse 1. 00:55:44.87\00:55:48.01 When the day of Pentecost had fully come, 00:55:48.04\00:55:50.91 they were all with one accord in one place. 00:55:50.95\00:55:54.58 Had these people accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord? 00:55:54.62\00:55:59.62 They were all gathered, right? 00:55:59.65\00:56:02.66 Were they gathered from many different nations? 00:56:02.69\00:56:05.36 Was the place the key part here? 00:56:05.39\00:56:07.66 It wasn't the place. 00:56:07.73\00:56:09.03 They were gathered there. 00:56:09.06\00:56:10.40 They were gathered to the Lord. 00:56:10.47\00:56:11.80 Notice verse 7. They were people from all nations. 00:56:11.83\00:56:14.24 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, 00:56:14.27\00:56:17.31 Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 00:56:17.34\00:56:19.87 And how is it that we hear each in our own language 00:56:19.91\00:56:23.24 in which we were born? 00:56:23.28\00:56:24.61 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in 00:56:24.65\00:56:28.38 Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 00:56:28.42\00:56:32.02 Phrygia, Pamphylia, in Egypt, in the parts of Libya adjoining 00:56:32.05\00:56:36.06 Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans, 00:56:36.09\00:56:40.10 and Arabs, who hear them speaking in our own tongues 00:56:40.13\00:56:43.16 the wonderful works of God. 00:56:43.20\00:56:44.53 Who were they gathered to? 00:56:44.57\00:56:46.17 They were gathered to Jesus Christ from 00:56:46.20\00:56:48.67 all parts of the empire. 00:56:48.70\00:56:50.61 So let me synthesize it. 00:56:50.67\00:56:53.11 What makes you a true Israelite is not that you are gathered 00:56:53.14\00:56:57.41 to the holy land, but that you are gathered to the Holy Lord. 00:56:57.45\00:57:02.18 If you are in the holy land, and have rejected the Holy Lord, 00:57:02.22\00:57:06.89 you are scattered. 00:57:06.92\00:57:09.76 So where is prophecy going to be fulfilled? in the literal land 00:57:09.82\00:57:14.93 of the Middle East, with people who do not receive Jesus Christ? 00:57:14.93\00:57:19.87 No! It will be worldwide Babylon against worldwide Jerusalem. 00:57:19.90\00:57:26.31
