Hey kids, it's time for Sabbath School. So grab your Bibles and 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.20 let's go. 00:00:03.23\00:00:04.57 ¤ ¤ 00:00:04.60\00:00:07.64 Hello boys and girls, welcome back to Starting With Jesus. 00:00:30.86\00:00:34.40 (Miss Ruthie) I'm so glad you're here with us today. We have an 00:00:34.43\00:00:37.30 an exciting program for you. We have a really interesting 00:00:37.33\00:00:40.97 mission story during our sharing time. And during our story with 00:00:41.00\00:00:46.47 Miss Michelle we have a story about a party that a bunch of 00:00:46.51\00:00:51.58 people were invited to and didn't want to go. Before we get 00:00:51.61\00:00:56.82 to those though let's join in some singing. 00:00:56.85\00:01:00.06 ¤ ¤ 00:01:00.09\00:01:07.93 ¤ ¤ 00:02:08.66\00:02:12.63 ¤ ¤ 00:03:00.38\00:03:03.95 ¤ ¤ 00:03:35.28\00:03:40.12 Hi kids. My name's Heather. I'm really glad to be here with you. 00:03:40.15\00:03:44.62 I hope you're having a really good day. I have a story for you 00:03:44.65\00:03:49.52 and the story comes from the country of South Korea. When I 00:03:49.56\00:03:55.36 was 10 years old, are any of you 10 years old? When I was 10 my 00:03:55.40\00:04:01.37 my family moved to Korea and I lived in South Korea for a year. 00:04:01.40\00:04:06.88 I had never left America before that, so this was a very new 00:04:06.91\00:04:12.11 experience for me. Let's look at the globe again to see where 00:04:12.15\00:04:16.38 South Korea is. Here's America where I was living in Tennessee 00:04:16.42\00:04:23.59 and we flew to California and then we took a really big flight 00:04:23.63\00:04:30.30 over the Pacific Ocean over Japan and here is South Korea. 00:04:30.33\00:04:36.34 Maybe you can ask your parents to look up some pictures of it. 00:04:36.37\00:04:40.01 There are some very pretty mountains and places there. 00:04:40.04\00:04:43.98 Well would you like to learn a little bit of Korean. I'll teach 00:04:44.01\00:04:49.08 you to say Hello. You say annyeong haseyo, annyeong haseyo 00:04:49.12\00:04:57.39 Can you say that? annyeong haseyo. Good job. Well in Korea 00:04:57.43\00:05:05.23 my mother and my sister were teaching English and because I 00:05:05.27\00:05:09.87 was only 10 years old I was going to school and being a 00:05:09.90\00:05:14.48 student. I was home schooled. So I would go to school in the 00:05:14.51\00:05:19.41 living room where one day our teacher that teaches us Korean 00:05:19.45\00:05:24.49 came over to the house. My mother was talking to him. 00:05:24.52\00:05:29.16 He had already taught us a lesson in the Korean language 00:05:29.19\00:05:33.93 and now she was just serving him I think some food and they were 00:05:33.96\00:05:38.63 talking while I was doing my homework in the living room. 00:05:38.67\00:05:42.70 I could just barely hear what they were talking about and I 00:05:42.74\00:05:49.54 heard that she was telling him a familiar story. He was asking 00:05:49.58\00:05:54.32 about Jesus. Who is Jesus? He wasn't raised in a place where 00:05:54.35\00:05:59.82 Jesus was talked about very much so he didn't know. She was 00:05:59.85\00:06:04.59 telling him the story of Jesus and how he came because he loved 00:06:04.63\00:06:09.96 us because God so loved the world he gave his only Son that 00:06:10.00\00:06:15.20 whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. 00:06:15.24\00:06:20.58 And she told the story of how Jesus died on the cross for us 00:06:20.61\00:06:26.31 so that we can live. I had heard this story my whole life but I 00:06:26.35\00:06:32.65 was hearing it with new ears. It was as if I had never heard 00:06:32.69\00:06:37.19 it before and it touched my heart. And after our Korean 00:06:37.23\00:06:42.66 teacher left she came in to check on me as I was doing my 00:06:42.70\00:06:46.47 school work and I had tears in my eyes because they were happy 00:06:46.50\00:06:52.24 tears because I realized what Jesus had done for me and I gave 00:06:52.27\00:06:56.28 my heart to Jesus at that time. It has been a very nice journey 00:06:56.31\00:07:01.32 of learning to grow and learn more about Jesus my whole life. 00:07:01.35\00:07:05.19 But I'm so glad for that experience in South Korea. 00:07:05.22\00:07:09.26 And the lesson we can take from this story is that when we 00:07:09.29\00:07:14.56 choose to reach out to other people and help them know more 00:07:14.60\00:07:18.53 about Jesus, you know what happens? We learn more about 00:07:18.57\00:07:22.90 Jesus. When we seek to bring other people closer to Jesus 00:07:22.94\00:07:27.98 we become closer to Jesus ourselves and he's able to teach 00:07:28.01\00:07:32.81 us more about himself. I hope you will take every opportunity 00:07:32.85\00:07:37.95 you have to reach out to other people and help them know about 00:07:37.99\00:07:41.86 the story of Jesus because then Jesus will be able to do a work 00:07:41.89\00:07:46.16 in your own heart that will be very special. 00:07:46.19\00:07:49.23 ¤ ¤ 00:07:49.26\00:07:56.71 Miss Michelle blowing up a balloon and stretching crepe 00:07:56.74\00:07:59.51 paper streamer. Let's the balloon go and it deflates. She 00:07:59.54\00:08:02.74 says, Oh, man. Oh, I um. Oh hey, I was just trying to get ready 00:08:02.78\00:08:09.62 for my son's two-year-old birthday party. I can't believe 00:08:09.65\00:08:13.66 he's two already. How could time have gone so quickly? Today's 00:08:13.69\00:08:18.03 lesson is called The Party That Many People Missed. What does 00:08:18.06\00:08:24.53 that tell you? Let's find out why. 00:08:24.57\00:08:26.03 Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us. We thank you 00:08:26.07\00:08:29.67 for planning the ultimate party, a heavenly party, just for us. 00:08:29.70\00:08:33.91 Please help us to be ready for that party, Lord. Help us each 00:08:33.94\00:08:37.35 day to ask you into our hearts and to prepare us for that soon 00:08:37.38\00:08:41.82 coming day. Send you Spirit to guide us. We thank you. In your 00:08:41.85\00:08:45.32 name we pray. Amen. 00:08:45.35\00:08:46.89 Now who doesn't love a good party? Right? I know my son 00:08:46.92\00:08:50.96 who's almost two can say party really well because he's so 00:08:50.99\00:08:54.36 excited for his birthday party. And part of today's story talks 00:08:54.40\00:08:59.10 about a party. So that'll be fun. Right? Jesus was invited 00:08:59.13\00:09:03.54 though first... Well there's kind of two parts to the story. 00:09:03.57\00:09:05.97 First we're going to talk about one meal and then we're going 00:09:06.01\00:09:08.84 to talk about another meal and we're going to talk actually 00:09:08.88\00:09:11.28 about a third meal, but we'll get there. Jesus was invited to 00:09:11.31\00:09:14.58 a Pharisee's house to eat for Sabbath lunch. You heard it 00:09:14.62\00:09:21.16 correctly. Jesus was invited to a Pharisee's house to eat for 00:09:21.19\00:09:24.59 Sabbath lunch. Yeah. And we're going to jump right into the 00:09:24.63\00:09:30.40 Bible and find out why that was. Why would Miss Michelle be so 00:09:30.43\00:09:34.24 surprised that this would happen Any guesses? If you've been 00:09:34.27\00:09:39.24 listening along you might know why it would be confusing for a 00:09:39.27\00:09:43.75 Pharisee to invite Jesus over. Were Pharisees like Jesus' 00:09:43.78\00:09:46.41 biggest fans? Did they believe that he was the Messiah come 00:09:46.45\00:09:49.88 from God? No. So why would they go to the trouble of having warm 00:09:49.92\00:09:53.56 hospitality in inviting him over? Hmm. Kind of seems like a 00:09:53.59\00:09:57.66 setup to me. I don't know. I'm a little suspicious. 00:09:57.69\00:10:00.00 Now it happened [We're in Luke 14 verse 1] Now it happened as 00:10:00.03\00:10:04.87 he went into the house one of the rulers of the Pharisees 00:10:04.90\00:10:07.70 to eat bread on Sabbath that they watched him closely. 00:10:07.74\00:10:11.97 That's awkward. Right? Have you ever felt like people were 00:10:12.01\00:10:15.21 watching you in church or somewhere? Kind of feels 00:10:15.24\00:10:18.65 awkward. I know I used to think that when I was younger and come 00:10:18.68\00:10:21.08 to find out, they weren't watching me, but it just felt 00:10:21.12\00:10:23.25 like it. Jesus could tell all the eyes in the room were on 00:10:23.28\00:10:26.62 him. Why? Let's keep reading. 00:10:26.65\00:10:28.26 And behold a certain man before him had dropsy. 00:10:28.29\00:10:33.43 Now dropsy. That is not a medical term that I was familiar 00:10:33.46\00:10:39.50 with and dropsy makes me think of dropping things but that is 00:10:39.53\00:10:42.40 not, in fact, what it was. Dropsy actually our lesson 00:10:42.44\00:10:49.01 explained to us that dropsy was when part of your body like 00:10:49.04\00:10:52.85 swells up and starts to hurt. So if you think about it kind of 00:10:52.88\00:10:56.02 being like a balloon, which is like a horrible example, but 00:10:56.05\00:10:58.85 like you know maybe if you fell hit your knee and your knee gets 00:10:58.89\00:11:03.83 bigger that's what swelling is. Right? And it's our body's way 00:11:03.86\00:11:07.03 to try to fight infection and fight whatever is hurt there. 00:11:07.06\00:11:11.20 It was really painful for him and the Pharisees had laid a 00:11:11.23\00:11:16.40 trap. They had invited the sick man on purpose because, well, 00:11:16.44\00:11:22.34 they wanted to see what Jesus would do. What day was it? 00:11:22.38\00:11:25.25 That's right. It was the Sabbath So let's see what happens. 00:11:25.28\00:11:29.08 Hmm. The plot thickens. 00:11:29.12\00:11:31.15 ...a man who had dropsy. And Jesus answering spoke to the 00:11:31.19\00:11:35.62 lawyers and the Pharisees saying [Ah] Is it lawful to heal on the 00:11:35.66\00:11:39.83 Sabbath. But they kept silent. 00:11:39.86\00:11:43.93 They knew that doing nice things on the Sabbath was okay to do. 00:11:43.97\00:11:47.70 They knew that the Pharisees' laws were ridiculous. Right? 00:11:47.74\00:11:51.37 They knew in their heart of hearts that the right thing to 00:11:51.41\00:11:53.78 do for Jesus would be to heal that man. So asking a question 00:11:53.81\00:11:56.98 is actually like pretty good strategy right there. Right? 00:11:57.01\00:11:59.85 And he took him and healed him and let him go. 00:11:59.88\00:12:05.69 How uncomfortable it must have been for that man. A room full 00:12:05.72\00:12:08.79 of important people. Right? And this man who just didn't feel 00:12:08.82\00:12:13.80 like he fit in. But Jesus healed him and said, You can go home 00:12:13.83\00:12:17.73 now. He had passed the test. Right? They couldn't argue with 00:12:17.77\00:12:23.07 his logic. Is it okay to do good on the Sabbath? Hmm. Healed him. 00:12:23.10\00:12:28.98 Silence. They had nothing. Verses 4-6 is what we just read. 00:12:29.01\00:12:34.02 We're in Luke chapter 14. Jesus loved all these lawyers and 00:12:34.05\00:12:39.29 Pharisees in this room even though they were trying to get 00:12:39.32\00:12:42.19 him into trouble like right then he still loved them and he 00:12:42.22\00:12:45.79 wanted them so badly to see the truth of God's love and be saved 00:12:45.83\00:12:51.20 And I suppose people watching I'm sure like you know people 00:12:51.23\00:12:55.30 watch like maybe I do sometimes. Okay, you do? Okay. It's kind of 00:12:55.34\00:12:58.97 fun to watch people. They're really interesting. Right? And 00:12:59.01\00:13:01.91 Jesus was watching, looking around the room and he noticed 00:13:01.94\00:13:03.75 a couple of things. The first thing that Jesus noticed was 00:13:03.78\00:13:06.55 that everyone selfishly when they came into the room were 00:13:06.58\00:13:09.65 like trying to get to the best spot at the table or in the room 00:13:09.68\00:13:13.42 and he said in his heart of hearts, time for a parable, time 00:13:13.46\00:13:18.03 for a story to help people see how ridiculous that is to feel 00:13:18.06\00:13:22.06 like you need to be the most important. And that's in verse 8 00:13:22.10\00:13:25.03 When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit 00:13:25.07\00:13:32.17 in the best place lest one more honorable than you be invited by 00:13:32.21\00:13:36.41 him and he who invited you and him comes and says to you [ah, 00:13:36.44\00:13:40.18 you need to give this place to this man] and then you begin 00:13:40.22\00:13:43.18 with shame [and they take you] to the lowest place. But when 00:13:43.22\00:13:47.69 you are invited go sit down at the lowest place so that when he 00:13:47.72\00:13:50.39 who invited you comes he may say to you, friend go up higher. 00:13:50.43\00:13:54.46 Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the 00:13:54.50\00:13:57.77 table with you. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled 00:13:57.80\00:14:01.37 and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 00:14:01.40\00:14:03.51 That makes a lot of sense. Right? Instead of trying to be 00:14:03.54\00:14:07.78 in the best place wouldn't it be nicer if someone actually said 00:14:07.81\00:14:10.41 to you, I'd like you to be in the best place, instead of just 00:14:10.45\00:14:13.05 assuming that that's where you belong. Hmm. That was a pretty 00:14:13.08\00:14:16.32 direct parable wasn't it? The other thing that he noticed was 00:14:16.35\00:14:19.15 that only important people were invited besides the man with 00:14:19.19\00:14:23.16 dropsy who was a trap, who was a setup. Right? Who was trying 00:14:23.19\00:14:26.56 to get Jesus to mess up so that they could get him in trouble. 00:14:26.59\00:14:29.80 There were no poor people there, no sick people besides the man 00:14:29.83\00:14:32.70 and no needy people. And this really bothered Jesus too. It 00:14:32.73\00:14:37.67 made him feel uncomfortable and so he said: 00:14:37.71\00:14:42.14 He also said to him who invited him [we're in verse 12 now] 00:14:42.18\00:14:44.91 When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, 00:14:44.95\00:14:47.95 your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors lest they 00:14:47.98\00:14:51.02 also invite you back and you be repaid. But when you give a 00:14:51.05\00:14:55.49 feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind 00:14:55.52\00:14:58.89 and you will be blessed because they cannot repay you for you 00:14:58.93\00:15:03.03 shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just. 00:15:03.06\00:15:06.23 We call that one-upping. So often maybe we try to do 00:15:06.27\00:15:10.77 something nice for someone and then they feel like they have to 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.34 do something nice for us and then back and forth and back and 00:15:12.37\00:15:14.18 forth and then we're really not doing it to be nice. We're just 00:15:14.21\00:15:17.35 doing it to look good. And I think that's what Jesus was 00:15:17.38\00:15:19.75 saying right there. Hmm. This is getting really awkward. Because 00:15:19.78\00:15:24.35 he had called out two like big things they really liked to do 00:15:24.39\00:15:27.16 that were like not appropriate and not very kind and not very 00:15:27.19\00:15:30.13 Christ like or Christian. Right? But one of the people there 00:15:30.16\00:15:35.70 decided to switch up the subject Have you ever heard someone say, 00:15:35.73\00:15:38.63 So about the weather? They're trying to change the 00:15:38.67\00:15:41.34 conversation to make it less awkward. And he chose a great 00:15:41.37\00:15:43.97 topic. In fact, he chose to talk about heaven. This picture is on 00:15:44.01\00:15:48.78 my dresser at home and I just love it because it makes me 00:15:48.81\00:15:51.21 think of heaven. And I can't wait for heaven. I hope you're 00:15:51.25\00:15:53.82 excited too. So they decided to talk about heaven. Now the Jews 00:15:53.85\00:15:58.49 thought that they were just a shoe-in for heaven. Right? They 00:15:58.52\00:16:01.22 were God's chosen people. They would just get in just because. 00:16:01.26\00:16:05.96 But the Gentiles and Samaritans would obviously not be there. 00:16:05.99\00:16:08.46 Obviously. In fact, they even believed that they might be on 00:16:08.50\00:16:11.37 the outside looking in wishing they were there. And so once 00:16:11.40\00:16:15.10 again, story time with Jesus. Luke chapter 14 verses 16 and 17 00:16:15.14\00:16:20.98 says: Then he said to him a certain man gave a great supper 00:16:21.01\00:16:25.68 and invited many and sent his servant at suppertime to say 00:16:25.71\00:16:29.12 to those who were invited, Come for all things are now ready. 00:16:29.15\00:16:32.59 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. 00:16:32.62\00:16:42.06 Hope you haven't made an excuse before. Mmm-mmm. 00:16:42.10\00:16:44.37 The first said to him, I have bought a piece of ground [some 00:16:44.40\00:16:47.80 land] and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused. 00:16:47.84\00:16:53.17 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen and I am going 00:16:53.21\00:16:56.64 to test them out. I ask you to have me excused. Still another 00:16:56.68\00:17:01.08 said [Ah] I've married a wife and therefore I cannot come. 00:17:01.12\00:17:04.85 [Really, okay] So that servant came and reported these things 00:17:04.89\00:17:09.39 to the master. Then the master of the house became angry. 00:17:09.42\00:17:12.46 I would be frustrated too. He had put a lot of effort into the 00:17:12.49\00:17:16.16 party. He'd gotten all the party supplies. They were all set to 00:17:16.20\00:17:20.07 go and then all the people he had invited made up these 00:17:20.10\00:17:23.20 ridiculously rude, selfish excuses. Like you couldn't bring 00:17:23.24\00:17:27.84 your wife to the party or the land's not going to be there 00:17:27.88\00:17:31.35 tomorrow or you have to see your oxen this instant? They just 00:17:31.38\00:17:37.59 didn't make any sense did they? And they were ridiculous excuses 00:17:37.62\00:17:43.16 and thus the person who planned the party was angry and that 00:17:43.19\00:17:47.00 makes sense to me. I would be frustrated too. 00:17:47.03\00:17:49.66 So he said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and 00:17:49.70\00:17:54.07 lanes of the city and bring in here the poor, the maimed, the 00:17:54.10\00:17:58.17 lame and the blind and the servant said, Master it is done 00:17:58.21\00:18:01.94 as you commanded and there is still room. Then the master said 00:18:01.98\00:18:06.92 to the servant, Go out to the highways and hedges and compel 00:18:06.95\00:18:09.88 them to come in that my house may be filled. For I say to you 00:18:09.92\00:18:16.09 that none of those men who are invited shall taste my supper. 00:18:16.12\00:18:20.60 It was too late for them wasn't it? They had made up excuses and 00:18:20.63\00:18:25.33 they no longer were going to be able to enjoy the supper. Now 00:18:25.37\00:18:28.74 Miss Michelle said we were going to talk about three dinners and 00:18:28.77\00:18:31.27 that's right. We talked about the dinner that the Pharisee set 00:18:31.31\00:18:34.24 up to try to trick Jesus into getting into trouble. We talked 00:18:34.28\00:18:37.38 about the dinner in the parable that Jesus talked about where 00:18:37.41\00:18:40.32 people made excuses and thus missed out. And, the third 00:18:40.35\00:18:45.22 dinner that we're going to be talking about the marriage 00:18:45.25\00:18:47.66 supper of the Lamb. You see the parable was symbolizing. 00:18:47.69\00:18:52.06 A parable is a story with deeper meaning. Right? And it was 00:18:52.09\00:18:54.86 symbolizing the marriage supper of the Lamb. When will that be? 00:18:54.90\00:18:57.57 In heaven. And Jesus has invited each one of us, everyone in the 00:18:57.60\00:19:02.40 whole world to be there. We'll jump to the very end of the 00:19:02.44\00:19:05.61 story. Revelation chapter 19 verses 7-9 say: 00:19:05.64\00:19:09.58 Let us be glad and rejoice and give him glory for the marriage 00:19:09.61\00:19:13.45 of the Lamb has come and his wife [that's the church] has 00:19:13.48\00:19:16.99 made herself ready. And to here it was granted to be arrayed in 00:19:17.02\00:19:20.72 fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the 00:19:20.76\00:19:24.49 righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, Write, 00:19:24.53\00:19:27.66 blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the 00:19:27.70\00:19:30.13 Lamb. And he said to me, These are the true saints of God. 00:19:30.17\00:19:35.04 Jesus wants us to be there. Let's not make excuses. Let's 00:19:35.07\00:19:40.08 not make excuses in our lives. Let's not make excuses to miss 00:19:40.11\00:19:45.55 out on such an important and exciting meal. Our memory verse 00:19:45.58\00:19:52.02 says: He who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke chapter 14 00:19:52.05\00:19:55.59 verse 11. Let's not be like those Pharisees and priests and 00:19:55.62\00:19:59.66 lawyers of those days who thought that they were so 00:19:59.69\00:20:02.30 important that they just were better than everybody else. 00:20:02.33\00:20:08.17 Let's remember to humble ourselves before God because 00:20:08.20\00:20:11.41 He will lift us up and he can't wait to sit down with you at the 00:20:11.44\00:20:15.74 marriage supper of the Lamb. I just can't even imagine what's 00:20:15.78\00:20:19.81 going to be on the menu. It's making me hungry just thinking 00:20:19.85\00:20:21.92 about it. But most of all I am hungry symbolically to spend 00:20:21.95\00:20:26.55 that time with Jesus. Aren't you? I cannot wait. And He can't 00:20:26.59\00:20:31.53 wait either. Let's not miss out on the party like the people in 00:20:31.56\00:20:35.46 the parable today. Let's be there. And I can't wait to meet 00:20:35.50\00:20:39.13 each one of you from all over the world right there. Where 00:20:39.17\00:20:42.77 shall we meet? I was thinking maybe the tree of life. I'll see 00:20:42.80\00:20:46.21 you there and I'll see you again next time for another adventure 00:20:46.24\00:20:49.81 in God's world. 00:20:49.84\00:20:51.18 ¤ ¤ 00:20:51.21\00:21:05.06 Hi moms and dads. My name is Ashley and I want to invite you 00:21:05.09\00:21:07.66 to a new program we have for the littlest children up to five 00:21:07.70\00:21:10.80 years old. The Seedpod for Beginners is a way for them to 00:21:10.83\00:21:13.90 start their day with Jesus. My girls are almost two and four 00:21:13.94\00:21:17.57 and they love to do the singing, repeating memory verses 00:21:17.61\00:21:20.68 and hearing short Bible and nature stories. I want to share 00:21:20.71\00:21:24.18 this program with you for your children. Not every morning 00:21:24.21\00:21:26.92 we'll be releasing podcasts Sundays and Mondays all the way 00:21:26.95\00:21:30.82 through 2021. Repetition is so good for the young one. You can 00:21:30.85\00:21:34.89 alternate with two programs all week long all the way till 00:21:34.92\00:21:37.59 Sabbath. Hope you enjoy. (Dr. Eric) 00:24:19.59\00:24:24.13 Maybe like some of you watching. You love to play with fire. 00:24:24.16\00:24:28.00 Whenever we were camping there'd be a camp fire and I'd get a 00:24:28.03\00:24:31.07 long stick and kind of poke at the fire and maybe light the end 00:24:31.10\00:24:34.74 of the stick on fire. When I got a little bit older my mommy and 00:24:34.77\00:24:38.21 daddy would let me light the fire. And I'd get big sticks and 00:24:38.24\00:24:41.44 little sticks and maybe some grass or some paper. And I put 00:24:41.48\00:24:44.55 them together very carefully and then I'd light the fire for that 00:24:44.58\00:24:46.95 evening. Oh it was so much fun. But my mommy and daddy always 00:24:46.98\00:24:50.62 told me, Don't play with fire. It's dangerous. You can get 00:24:50.65\00:24:55.92 burned. Well one day as we were camping I looked at a different 00:24:55.96\00:25:01.20 campsite and there were some older boys lighting their camp 00:25:01.23\00:25:04.83 fire. And they got what looked like some gasoline and put it 00:25:04.87\00:25:07.87 all over the sticks that they were going to light for their 00:25:07.90\00:25:12.84 fire. One of them struck a match and whoosh there was this large 00:25:12.87\00:25:17.11 flame that went up and the fire went very quickly. Oh it was so 00:25:17.15\00:25:21.55 exciting. And I said, Hmm that looks like playing with fire but 00:25:21.58\00:25:25.39 it sure looked like a lot of fun So that evening when it was time 00:25:25.42\00:25:28.79 for me to light my fire I got some of the camping gas that we 00:25:28.82\00:25:33.03 had and I dripped it on the sticks and I built my fire 00:25:33.06\00:25:36.87 carefully and I put a little more gas on and then I stood as 00:25:36.90\00:25:40.84 far back as I could and I struck a match and threw it on the fire 00:25:40.87\00:25:43.71 but the match went out. So I had to get a little closer and I 00:25:43.74\00:25:47.01 struck a match and threw it on the fire, but the match went out 00:25:47.04\00:25:49.41 So I had to get very close and I struck a match and I touched the 00:25:49.44\00:25:54.62 sticks that were soaked with gas and whoosh! There was a sudden 00:25:54.65\00:25:59.95 explosion and I learned why my mommy and daddy said, Don't play 00:25:59.99\00:26:04.06 with fire. I'm thankful I wasn't badly burned but all of my 00:26:04.09\00:26:08.16 eyebrows and all the hair on my head, the end of each hair was 00:26:08.20\00:26:12.63 melted. It was singed and there was a funny little ball on the 00:26:12.67\00:26:15.84 end of every single hair. I learned an important lesson 00:26:15.87\00:26:18.87 about never playing with fire. 00:26:18.91\00:26:23.68 ¤ ¤ 00:26:23.71\00:26:28.88 I'm so glad that you've joined us for this program.
