Hey kids, it's time for Sabbath School. Grab your Bibles and 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.00 let's go. 00:00:03.03\00:00:04.37 ¤ ¤ 00:00:04.40\00:00:31.49 Welcome everybody, I am so glad you're here with us. We have a 00:00:31.53\00:00:34.50 really fun program. We have a nature story and a sharing time 00:00:34.53\00:00:39.73 and we have a Bible story about remembering to say thank you. 00:00:39.77\00:00:44.91 So before we get to that though what do we start with? Well we 00:00:44.94\00:00:49.48 start with Jesus but we also start with some singing about 00:00:49.51\00:00:51.91 Jesus. So let's get to some singing. 00:00:51.95\00:00:53.92 ¤ ¤ 00:00:53.95\00:04:24.46 Hi everyone, I am at the Tahoe National Forest here in the 00:04:24.49\00:04:32.30 Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Well as we were 00:04:32.33\00:04:35.30 walking we came to this beautiful alpine lake. There 00:04:35.34\00:04:38.84 were some amazing vistas and some places where you could see 00:04:38.87\00:04:42.91 for miles and miles all across Donner Summit. Now as we were 00:04:42.94\00:04:48.88 walking back to the truck I saw something that caught my 00:04:48.92\00:04:52.52 attention and you know what it was? It is these bulrushes. 00:04:52.55\00:04:57.46 Look at those bulrushes. They're kind of growing at the 00:04:57.53\00:05:02.60 edge of a beautiful alpine lake. Now bulrushes aren't out in the 00:05:02.63\00:05:10.01 deep area. They're actually right here, right by the side of 00:05:10.04\00:05:13.68 the lake. They're really neat. You can see that they grow up 00:05:13.71\00:05:20.45 out of mud and out of the dirt. So as I was here and I saw 00:05:20.52\00:05:23.92 these bulrushes, guess what story it reminded me of. Can you 00:05:23.99\00:05:27.36 guess? That's right. Baby Moses. The king where Moses lived was 00:05:27.39\00:05:33.29 afraid that the Israelites were getting to be too many and too 00:05:33.33\00:05:36.46 numerous so he decided that he was going to kill all the baby 00:05:36.50\00:05:40.34 boys. Well Moses' mother wanted to save him, so she prayed to 00:05:40.37\00:05:45.67 God and after three months she knew she couldn't save him 00:05:45.71\00:05:48.58 anymore, she couldn't hide him, and so she went and she took 00:05:48.61\00:05:53.05 bulrushes just like these and she wove a basket and then after 00:05:53.08\00:05:58.05 she wove a basket she went and she put it in the Nile River. 00:05:58.09\00:06:03.63 Now this isn't a river. This is actually a little pond/lake. 00:06:03.66\00:06:07.40 But she put it in the Nile River and she prayed that God would 00:06:07.43\00:06:10.77 keep her baby safe. And what ended up happening? The Princess 00:06:10.80\00:06:15.84 came. So the Princess came and she took Baby Moses and she had 00:06:15.87\00:06:19.91 him stay with his mother for several years and then she took 00:06:19.94\00:06:23.35 him to the palace. And they taught him all the wisdom of 00:06:23.38\00:06:27.02 Egypt. Now Moses, he ended up becoming a great man for God, 00:06:27.05\00:06:32.85 didn't he. But God had a time for him in the wilderness. Well 00:06:32.89\00:06:36.66 it reminds me of us and God has a special plan for your life. 00:06:36.73\00:06:41.93 And sometimes things may not be going the way that we think it 00:06:41.96\00:06:45.60 should. Sometimes life might be really hard, but did you know 00:06:45.63\00:06:49.07 that God has a plan for you. You know sometimes life may not 00:06:49.10\00:06:52.77 be going the way that we want it to and it might be kind of hard. 00:06:52.81\00:06:56.95 Maybe we can't do the things that we used to be able to do or 00:06:56.98\00:07:00.12 maybe we are having to go to a new school or maybe even do 00:07:00.15\00:07:05.65 school at home because of this whole COVID thing. Well I know 00:07:05.69\00:07:08.99 that God has a special plan for your life just like he did for 00:07:09.02\00:07:12.36 Moses. And he can take care of you in the scary times, in the 00:07:12.39\00:07:16.70 good times, in the times of waiting in the wilderness. 00:07:16.77\00:07:20.04 God has a plan and we can trust him. In fact, in Proverbs 3:5,6 00:07:20.07\00:07:24.87 it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on 00:07:24.91\00:07:29.34 on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him 00:07:29.38\00:07:33.62 and he shall direct your path. Just like Jochebed, Moses' 00:07:33.65\00:07:38.32 mother she trusted God. Just like Moses trusted God when 00:07:38.35\00:07:41.99 things were not clear, we can trust him too. We'll see you 00:07:42.02\00:07:45.86 later, bye, bye. ¤ ¤ 00:07:45.89\00:08:05.38 Dear Mom and Dad: Thank you so much for the amazing gift you 00:08:05.41\00:08:10.39 gave me. I really appreciated it. It was so nice when you 00:08:10.42\00:08:13.66 watched my little one so that I could sleep in too. Thank you so 00:08:13.69\00:08:16.49 much for being the best grandparents ever. I love you 00:08:16.52\00:08:20.00 and can't wait till we can hang out again. Love Michelle. 00:08:20.03\00:08:24.07 Oh, you just caught me. I was writing some thank you notes. 00:08:24.10\00:08:27.97 Have you written a thank you note before? It's one of my 00:08:28.00\00:08:30.71 favorite things to do. And a lot of people may not do it anymore 00:08:30.74\00:08:33.48 but I still think it's really important to send a little note. 00:08:33.51\00:08:36.11 Nothing like getting something in your mailbox, right? It's so 00:08:36.14\00:08:38.81 exciting to get mail. Today we're going to talk about 00:08:38.85\00:08:41.22 thankfulness. And let's pause right now and thank Jesus for 00:08:41.25\00:08:44.72 being here with us. 00:08:44.75\00:08:46.09 Dear heavenly Father, thank you for loving us, thank you for all 00:08:46.12\00:08:49.12 the blessings you give us like I could pray this whole story time 00:08:49.16\00:08:52.36 about all the things I'm thankful for, but most of all 00:08:52.39\00:08:55.30 I'm thankful for your love. And please be with us. Send your 00:08:55.33\00:08:58.53 Holy Spirit and thank you for your Spirit that guides us into 00:08:58.57\00:09:00.64 all truth. In your name we pray, Amen. 00:09:00.67\00:09:02.97 Today our story is called, Remembering to Say Thank You. 00:09:03.00\00:09:07.61 Have you ever had someone some up and say to you, Ah, Miss 00:09:07.64\00:09:11.95 you have something in your teeth Oh, I'm so thankful when people 00:09:11.98\00:09:15.95 do that, right? Especially when it's toward the beginning of the 00:09:15.98\00:09:18.59 day instead of the end, right? Or maybe they'll say, Oh Miss 00:09:18.62\00:09:23.02 Michelle, your zipper is unzipped. Oh, it's so nice to 00:09:23.06\00:09:26.70 know that because otherwise, it's really embarrassing, right? 00:09:26.73\00:09:28.86 But back in Bible times if someone were to say, Oh, um, it 00:09:28.90\00:09:34.37 looks like you have a little white patch of skin right there. 00:09:34.40\00:09:38.14 That could change someone's life. You see, there was a 00:09:38.17\00:09:42.94 disease back then called leprosy. Mmm, you may have 00:09:42.98\00:09:45.51 heard of that before, right? And it started with just a few 00:09:45.55\00:09:49.05 little white spots on your skin and pretty soon the priest would 00:09:49.08\00:09:51.89 confirm that you, in fact, had leprosy. And in Leviticus in the 00:09:51.92\00:09:56.42 Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, third book of the 00:09:56.46\00:09:59.73 Bible, chapter 13, verse 2, we learn a little bit more about 00:09:59.76\00:10:04.20 leprosy. Leviticus 13 verse 2, it says:... When a man has on 00:10:04.27\00:10:09.07 the skin of his body a swelling, a scab or a bright spot and it 00:10:09.10\00:10:12.74 becomes on the skin of his body like a leprous sore, then he 00:10:12.77\00:10:16.28 must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons, 00:10:16.31\00:10:20.22 the priests. [And then what should happen.] Verse 3 00:10:20.25\00:10:24.09 continues. The priests are to examine the sore on the skin of 00:10:24.12\00:10:26.09 his body and if the hair on the sore has turned white and the 00:10:26.12\00:10:29.26 sore appears to be deeper than the skin of his body it is a 00:10:29.29\00:10:32.23 leprous sore and then the priest shall examine him and pronounce 00:10:32.26\00:10:36.67 him Unclean. 00:10:36.70\00:10:38.03 This was like one of the worst things that could happen to you 00:10:38.07\00:10:40.94 in Bible times. Let's skip ahead in that same chapter to verse 00:10:40.97\00:10:45.11 45 and 46. It says:... Now the leper on whom the sore is his 00:10:45.14\00:10:50.95 clothes shall be torn and his head bare and he shall cover 00:10:50.98\00:10:55.08 his mustache and cry, Unclean, Unclean. He shall be unclean all 00:10:55.12\00:11:00.26 the days that he has the sore. Then he should be unclean. 00:11:00.29\00:11:04.03 He is unclean and shall dwell alone. His dwelling shall be 00:11:04.06\00:11:07.93 outside the camp. 00:11:07.96\00:11:10.07 How sad. If you had that leprosy not only did you have to leave 00:11:10.10\00:11:15.00 your family and your job and everything and live outside the 00:11:15.04\00:11:18.87 camp away from people, also the sad part was that people decided 00:11:18.91\00:11:25.38 that while you had that disease was because you were a terrible 00:11:25.41\00:11:28.85 sinner, it was God's punishment for you and they believed that 00:11:28.88\00:11:31.99 you could never be forgiven for that punishment. Isn't that sad? 00:11:32.02\00:11:37.16 Now in Jesus' time there were many lepers and, like I said, 00:11:37.23\00:11:41.43 there was no cure then. And there were 10 lepers. Now of 00:11:41.46\00:11:45.73 these lepers some of them were Jews but we know that at least 00:11:45.77\00:11:48.10 one of them was Samaritan, which was very interesting, because as 00:11:48.14\00:11:50.51 you guys have probably learned from the stories already, Jews 00:11:50.54\00:11:54.18 and Samaritans didn't get along. In fact, they would buy and sell 00:11:54.21\00:11:57.35 from each other, but that was about the extent of their 00:11:57.38\00:11:59.51 relationship. After that, they did not like each other. In fact 00:11:59.55\00:12:03.15 you may have even used the word hate which is really strong but 00:12:03.18\00:12:06.15 it was kind of applicable in this case. But one was Samaritan 00:12:06.19\00:12:11.39 they figured we all have this terrible disease, like who gives 00:12:11.43\00:12:14.63 a care. I guess we can just hang out and be friends because we're 00:12:14.66\00:12:17.47 all just going to die anyway alone and sad. So these 10 had 00:12:17.50\00:12:20.47 banded together and were friends and they kind of went through 00:12:20.54\00:12:24.77 life together, right? And they had heard about Jesus and they 00:12:24.81\00:12:29.11 thought wow! He's even healed leprosy. Oh I hope, I wish, I 00:12:29.14\00:12:33.45 hope, I wish that some day we will be able to see Jesus and 00:12:33.52\00:12:37.82 then it happened. Let's go to the book of Luke. Interesting 00:12:37.85\00:12:42.69 because Luke was a doctor, that he would talk about the story of 00:12:42.72\00:12:45.36 leprosy. I'm sure other gospels have this story too. Today we're 00:12:45.39\00:12:48.30 going to go to Dr. Luke and learn about what happened. 00:12:48.33\00:12:51.57 Luke 17 is where we're going to pick up this story and I really 00:12:51.60\00:12:57.04 do like reading parts, at least parts, if not all, right from 00:12:57.11\00:13:00.01 God's word. I think that's very important. Verse 11 says:... 00:13:00.08\00:13:03.21 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem, He [capital He, that 00:13:03.24\00:13:06.82 means Jesus] passed through in the midst of Samaria and 00:13:06.85\00:13:10.29 Galilee. Then as he entered a certain village there met him 00:13:10.32\00:13:13.29 10 men who were lepers who stood afar off. 00:13:13.36\00:13:17.36 They were following 00:13:17.43\00:13:18.76 protocol. They wanted to run to Jesus, fall at his feet and beg 00:13:18.79\00:13:22.26 mercy and say please forgive us for our sins and please heal us, 00:13:22.30\00:13:25.93 right? But they stood afar off like they were supposed to. 00:13:25.97\00:13:29.30 And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, Master, 00:13:29.34\00:13:35.04 have mercy on us. 00:13:35.08\00:13:36.41 Now have you ever done this before where you have a group 00:13:36.44\00:13:39.18 of friends and you're trying to get someone's attention who's 00:13:39.21\00:13:41.12 all the way across the playground or maybe all the way 00:13:41.15\00:13:43.25 across the parking lot and you say okay, one, two three, Hey 00:13:43.28\00:13:46.69 over here. You're louder together, right? So together 00:13:46.76\00:13:50.43 they called out to Jesus. And in verse 13 what happens? That's 00:13:50.46\00:13:57.27 when they shouted. In verse 14: 00:13:57.30\00:13:58.70 So when he saw them he said to them, Go show yourselves to the 00:13:58.73\00:14:03.81 priest. 00:14:03.84\00:14:05.64 Why would Jesus not say, You're healed! Have a great day! Why 00:14:05.67\00:14:09.91 wouldn't He say that, right? Once again. Jesus was always 00:14:09.94\00:14:12.58 intentional. There was always a reason for why he did things a 00:14:12.61\00:14:17.12 certain way, right? And Jesus knew that if he healed them 00:14:17.19\00:14:19.72 right away it wouldn't grow their faith. They had to believe 00:14:19.75\00:14:23.29 that they were going to be healed and have faith and He 00:14:23.32\00:14:26.90 knew that they would be stronger people because of that. So he 00:14:26.93\00:14:30.07 said: Go to the priests. Now the priests were like the doctors 00:14:30.10\00:14:33.44 kind of back then or like the doctors' assistants or I don't 00:14:33.47\00:14:36.14 know. They were professional judgers, that's for sure. 00:14:36.17\00:14:38.14 But they were the ones who would pronounce you clean from leprosy 00:14:38.17\00:14:42.68 so it was inferred that they would be healed by saying go to 00:14:42.71\00:14:46.05 the priest. It was Jesus saying, You will be healed. Go there. 00:14:46.08\00:14:52.09 But they weren't actually healed at that point. In verse 15 00:14:52.12\00:14:55.09 it says, sorry in verse 14 the second part, I didn't read you 00:14:55.12\00:14:58.56 the whole thing. So let's rewind 00:14:58.59\00:15:00.00 So when He saw them He said to them, Go show yourselves to the 00:15:00.03\00:15:03.37 priest. And so it was that when they went they were cleansed. 00:15:03.40\00:15:08.04 They're on their way, they're headed for the priest and on 00:15:08.07\00:15:10.11 they're way, they are cleansed! And wow! Isn't that exciting? 00:15:10.14\00:15:17.18 They were healed. Their whole lives narratives, their whole 00:15:17.25\00:15:21.65 life story had changed. They no longer were the 10 lepers. They 00:15:21.68\00:15:25.52 were the 10 men who had been healed from the leprosy by Jesus 00:15:25.55\00:15:29.49 Wow! Now this is where the story has an interesting twist because 00:15:29.52\00:15:34.20 just like today a lot less people say thank you than maybe 00:15:34.23\00:15:37.17 used to or just in general, sometimes we forget to say thank 00:15:37.20\00:15:39.87 you. Some of them forgot to say thank you. And you might think, 00:15:39.90\00:15:43.17 Oh Miss Michelle, probably like 50 percent so five went back and 00:15:43.20\00:15:47.08 said thank you, right? That would be better odds than there 00:15:47.11\00:15:51.48 were, right? So out of these 10 only one went back and said 00:15:51.51\00:15:56.45 thank you. So 10 percent, out of 10 only one, that's 10 percent. 00:15:56.48\00:16:00.06 One out of 10 said thank you. Here's what happened. 00:16:00.09\00:16:03.43 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, he returned 00:16:03.46\00:16:07.60 and with a loud voice glorified God and fell down on his face 00:16:07.63\00:16:12.83 at Jesus' feet and was giving thanks to him. 00:16:12.87\00:16:16.10 Then the Bible adds: And he was a Samaritan. 00:16:16.14\00:16:19.77 This was not even one of God's "special" people. I mean Jews 00:16:19.81\00:16:23.55 were God's special people but they were supposed to reach out 00:16:23.58\00:16:25.51 to the people around them and bring other people into the 00:16:25.55\00:16:28.32 special family of God, right, just like we're supposed to. 00:16:28.35\00:16:31.02 And yet in fact the only one to come back and glorify God and 00:16:31.05\00:16:34.99 say thank you was the Samaritan. Wow! [signs deeply] What happens 00:16:35.02\00:16:44.90 then? 00:16:44.93\00:16:46.84 And Jesus answered and said, Were there not 10 cleansed, but 00:16:46.87\00:16:54.01 where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to 00:16:54.08\00:16:59.28 the glory of God except this foreigner? And Jesus said to 00:16:59.31\00:17:03.82 him, Arise, go your way, your faith has made you well. 00:17:03.89\00:17:09.16 Wow! That's like, we talked about this before, Jesus going 00:17:09.19\00:17:14.23 to the grocery store and finding some random person and saying 00:17:14.30\00:17:16.77 they have more faith in me than you do. How would that make us 00:17:16.80\00:17:20.24 feel as Christians, right? It's a good thing to think about. 00:17:20.27\00:17:23.51 They could have a normal life again. They could go home to 00:17:23.54\00:17:28.81 their families all because of their faith in Jesus and Jesus' 00:17:28.84\00:17:33.82 miraculous healing. One man said thank you. One man gave us an 00:17:33.85\00:17:39.05 example, the Samaritan man gave us an example of what we should 00:17:39.09\00:17:43.29 do. How disappointed Jesus was in the other nine. What shall we 00:17:43.32\00:17:47.23 thank Jesus for today? Maybe you can make a list. Ah, make a list 00:17:47.30\00:17:51.47 and then think about it. Did you say thank you to Jesus for any 00:17:51.50\00:17:54.50 of those things yesterday? Mmm. That's a sobering thought isn't 00:17:54.54\00:17:58.77 it. Sobering means make you really think. Our lesson study 00:17:58.81\00:18:02.91 made a list of some really cool things to be thankful for and it 00:18:02.94\00:18:06.15 gave a little description for why. So I encourage you to read 00:18:06.18\00:18:08.88 that in our lesson. They wrote, Jesus, the Bible, angels, heaven 00:18:08.92\00:18:14.29 being able to choose, having freedom of choice, so important, 00:18:14.32\00:18:17.99 and health. Those are the things we can be thankful for, right? 00:18:18.03\00:18:21.76 I just sat down for just a couple of minutes and came up 00:18:21.80\00:18:24.97 with many more ideas and I could have been even more specific but 00:18:25.00\00:18:28.57 I just gave categories instead. So I'm thankful for my family, 00:18:28.60\00:18:32.01 friends, my home. It's so cute, my almost-two-year-old now 00:18:32.04\00:18:35.68 knows how to say the word home. How adorable. School, church, 00:18:35.71\00:18:39.88 food, clothes, toys, books, nature and playgrounds. And that 00:18:39.91\00:18:45.32 was just for a couple minutes it took me to think of those things 00:18:45.35\00:18:48.79 and you could even get more specific and say specific people 00:18:48.82\00:18:51.79 or specific things that you have in your life. I am thankful most 00:18:51.83\00:18:55.00 of all for the gift of salvation that God has given each of us. 00:18:55.03\00:18:59.37 Wow! We have so much to be thankful for. Wow! The lesson 00:18:59.40\00:19:06.68 ends with a very thought provoking question, something 00:19:06.71\00:19:10.05 that makes you think deeply. It says, How would you like to 00:19:10.08\00:19:14.15 change the way you say think you to Jesus? Mmm. What are some 00:19:14.22\00:19:19.72 traditions or some habits that we could start in our lives that 00:19:19.75\00:19:22.99 would help us to be more thankful? And I'm kicking myself 00:19:23.02\00:19:26.90 not really, that would hurt. But I'm bummed that I forgot at home 00:19:26.93\00:19:30.87 my thankful journal. I have a gratitude journal that's super 00:19:30.90\00:19:34.34 fun. Each day it has like three or four spaces where you can 00:19:34.37\00:19:38.61 put things that you're thankful for that day. And that has been 00:19:38.64\00:19:41.28 really life-changing for me, especially this year, this past 00:19:41.31\00:19:44.65 year, because it was really a tough year for all of us, right? 00:19:44.68\00:19:48.12 And it helps me to stay positive by writing down things that I'm 00:19:48.15\00:19:52.42 thankful for. Maybe you can have a special time of the day when 00:19:52.45\00:19:55.32 you thank Jesus, not just maybe right before we eat although 00:19:55.36\00:19:58.09 sometimes we may even forget to do that, to just simply thank 00:19:58.13\00:20:01.20 God for our food before we eat it. Or maybe while you're taking 00:20:01.23\00:20:06.40 a bath, would be a good time, or a shower to think about the 00:20:06.43\00:20:08.94 things you're thankful for. Or maybe while you're out on a walk 00:20:08.97\00:20:11.57 you could take turns naming things you're thankful for. Or 00:20:11.61\00:20:14.31 when you're driving in the car whatever you see that you're 00:20:14.34\00:20:17.38 thankful for you could talk about. Being thankful is so 00:20:17.45\00:20:21.05 important but not only does it show God how much we love him, 00:20:21.08\00:20:24.65 but it changes our mindset. In today's day and age there's a 00:20:24.69\00:20:28.12 lot of things that we could be bummed about or even depressed 00:20:28.16\00:20:31.09 about. Depressed means sad like most of the time, right? And 00:20:31.13\00:20:35.13 there are a lot of bad things that are happening around us, 00:20:35.16\00:20:37.17 but when we look for the good things that Jesus has done in 00:20:37.20\00:20:39.97 our lives it can completely change our mindset and help us 00:20:40.04\00:20:43.74 to see how much he loves us and how he will always, always be 00:20:43.81\00:20:48.54 with us. I want to challenge you guys to try that this afternoon 00:20:48.58\00:20:51.35 with your family, seeing how many things you can come up that 00:20:51.38\00:20:54.22 you're thankful for. And remember how much Jesus loves 00:20:54.25\00:20:58.15 it when we tell him thank you. Oh, P.S., you're parents like 00:20:58.19\00:21:01.59 it too. See you next week. Bye. 00:21:01.62\00:21:04.23 ¤ ¤ 00:21:04.26\00:21:18.44 Thank you Miss Michelle for that Bible story on thankfulness. 00:21:18.47\00:21:21.51 It's time now for our answers to last week's questions so let's 00:21:21.54\00:21:26.85 what those answers were and who sent in their answers. 00:21:26.92\00:21:33.66 ¤ ¤ 00:21:33.69\00:21:51.11 And now... I want you to think 00:22:19.37\00:22:23.64 of three things that you're thankful for today. 00:22:23.71\00:22:27.58 ¤ ¤ 00:22:27.61\00:22:31.38 You can send in your answers to us at: 00:22:31.41\00:22:35.08 Answers@startingwithJesus.com and you can also tag us on 00:22:35.12\00:22:40.56 Instagram and Facebook with your answers. We love to see how 00:22:40.59\00:22:44.86 you're participating in Sabbath School. 00:22:44.89\00:22:46.70 ¤ ¤ 00:22:46.73\00:22:54.07 It's time now for our memory verse. Let's say it together. 00:22:54.14\00:23:00.98 Psalm 100:4 and 5: Be thankful to him and bless his name for 00:23:01.01\00:23:08.95 the Lord is good. 00:23:08.98\00:23:12.02 ¤ ¤ 00:23:12.05\00:23:26.03 I like stories. My grandpa had great stories. When I was young 00:23:26.07\00:23:31.37 I loved to listen to my grandpa. You see he'd done 00:23:31.41\00:23:34.71 a lot of things in his life. 00:23:34.74\00:23:36.11 He had been a baker and he had been a chicken farmer 00:23:36.14\00:23:40.82 and he sold books about Jesus. One of the stories was about one 00:23:40.85\00:23:47.56 day when he was selling books about Jesus, he went to the door 00:23:47.59\00:23:52.73 and he knocked on the door. And the lady came to the door and 00:23:52.76\00:23:56.90 and said, Oh, I don't have time to talk right now. I'm baking a 00:23:56.97\00:24:00.94 chocolate cake. She had flour all over her hands and she was 00:24:00.97\00:24:04.51 wiping things because she had her nice apron on. And grandpa 00:24:04.54\00:24:08.21 said to her, Are you making a chocolate cake? Did you ever 00:24:08.24\00:24:12.78 wonder how to get that wonderful Hersey flavor. Oh, she said, yes 00:24:12.81\00:24:18.02 He said, I'll show you. And so he got invited in and they went 00:24:18.05\00:24:22.72 into the kitchen and he showed her how to add just a little bit 00:24:22.76\00:24:26.70 of peppermint to make it taste just right in the chocolate cake 00:24:26.73\00:24:30.17 And they put the cake in the oven and then grandpa said, let 00:24:30.20\00:24:34.27 me show you the books. And he opened up and he showed the 00:24:34.30\00:24:36.57 books about Jesus and she was really interested. 00:24:36.60\00:24:40.48 She appreciated help with the cake and she appreciated help 00:24:40.51\00:24:43.48 understanding about the books and what a wonderful opportunity 00:24:43.55\00:24:47.42 it was. Well grandpa said, time to take the cake out and she 00:24:47.45\00:24:52.25 said, No it has five more minutes. And he said, No, if you 00:24:52.29\00:24:57.69 leave it in any longer it'll taste bitter. And she said, I 00:24:57.73\00:25:01.33 wondered. My husband always said my chocolate cakes are bitter. 00:25:01.36\00:25:06.94 Well, let's take it out now. So they took it out and they had 00:25:06.97\00:25:10.91 had the cake and she liked the books so much she bought some of 00:25:10.94\00:25:14.18 the books. Grandpa learned that he could sell books by just 00:25:14.21\00:25:17.98 helping people. And you know that's what Jesus does. He helps 00:25:18.01\00:25:21.38 us in many ways and that's what the stories about Jesus 00:25:21.42\00:25:24.79 are about. 00:25:24.82\00:25:27.49 ¤ ¤ 00:25:27.56\00:25:31.09 I'm so excited.
