speak, the Lord knows.

In John 10:10 we have
a scripture that helps us

to understand the care of
the Lord, because it says,

"The thief does not

and to kill, and to destroy."

And Jesus says, "I have
come that they may have life,

and that they may
have it more abundantly."

The background of this,
Psalm 139, says that God is

ever-present, there
with us knows our thoughts,

and wants to help
us and protect us.

Why? Because He knows,
00:08:09.18\00:08:11.39
He can see from
where He is, everything.

You know, you're traveling over
here, He knows what's ahead,

He knows what's behind
you, He knows what's all around.

And He's always protecting us.

And notice in 1 Peter 5:6,
"Therefore, humble yourselves

under the mighty hand of
God, that He may exalt you

in due time, casting
all your care upon Him,

for He cares for you."

When you look at Psalm
139, some people may be alarmed.

"God knows what I
think. God knows what I say.

He's always watching me."

Some people may
be scared by this.
00:08:43.95\00:08:45.32
But the reason He does
this is because He loves us

and wants to
protect us and benefit us.

Why? Look at 1 Peter 5:8.

"Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil

walks about like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour."

Would you like the
Lord to say, "I'll be back.

I'll see you after I
come back from vacation

Oh, that would be

Because the devil

So we should be grateful
that the Lord is with us.

In the King James
Version, it says, "beset".

"You have hedged
me behind and before,

and laid Your hand upon me."

This is a caring, loving God.

Notice that this
word, "hedged," or "beset,"

can be negative or
it can be positive.

Because it means
also to bind, to besiege,

to confine, to cramp.

But it also means to secure.

And this is in the sense
of positive; securing us.

How do we know that?

Because verse 6 says,
"Such knowledge is too wonderful

The psalmist was so impressed
by the fact that God is there

constantly, continually.

24 hours a day, every minute of
the day, every second of the day

God is with us
protecting us from all the harm

many can say, "Well, God has
saved my life at least once."

the Lord has saved my life.

protected us from that.

This isn't a
place that's not known.

This is a close
intimacy, having a relationship
