And before we go any further, we want to go to the 00:02:35.58\00:02:38.82 Lord in prayer. Ryan, would you pay for? 00:02:38.82\00:02:40.89 >> So then let's pray. 00:02:40.89\00:02:42.76 Her father in heaven, Lord, as we know, dive into a new 00:02:42.76\00:02:46.23 adventure, a study through the book of Psalms Lord. We Ask 00:02:46.23\00:02:48.70 that your leadership be with us. Your spirit be poured out 00:02:48.70\00:02:51.57 upon us and that all the work words that we say, everything 00:02:51.57\00:02:55.44 that's communicated here that goes out, Lord will bless us 00:02:55.44\00:02:58.71 and bless so many other people that each and every one of us 00:02:58.71\00:03:01.48 will be drawn to Jesus Christ from this incredible study. 00:03:01.48\00:03:04.95 So we give this time to you and we ask you, your will be done. 00:03:04.95\00:03:07.92 And Jesus. Holy name, Amen. 00:03:07.92\00:03:09.78 >> The Psalms explores the gamut of human emotion, 00:03:09.78\00:03:14.16 especially as it relates to God. The sums address, joy and 00:03:14.16\00:03:19.09 sadness, fear and frustration, repentance and forgiveness, 00:03:19.09\00:03:25.00 peace and anxiety, depression and praise. Everything comes 00:03:25.00\00:03:31.27 back to praise. We see that over and over again. Throughout 00:03:31.27\00:03:36.14 the book of Psalms. It was the him No. You could say for 00:03:36.14\00:03:39.68 ancient, Israel's worship can be spoken or sung in private or 00:03:39.68\00:03:46.05 in corporate worship. In fact, as we journey through the study 00:03:46.05\00:03:49.99 were discovered that there's musical and notations 00:03:49.99\00:03:52.29 throughout the some suggest they were mostly written to be 00:03:52.29\00:03:55.70 some in the context of worship. What I love about the Psalms 00:03:55.70\00:04:00.60 that explores the attributes of our God. He is King and judge. 00:04:00.60\00:04:06.04 He's creator and sustainer. He's read Emer and savior. 00:04:06.04\00:04:10.38 He's our healer in our ref. Huge and our shepherd. He has 00:04:10.38\00:04:14.52 great Tim powerful, an eternal and holy. 00:04:14.52\00:04:18.12 He is on the president everywhere at once. He is 00:04:18.12\00:04:21.92 omnipotent. All powerful. He is righteous and Justin 00:04:21.92\00:04:26.90 Faithful unforgiving. He is patient and merciful and 00:04:26.90\00:04:31.43 compassionate and loving our God is good, though. Here's a 00:04:31.43\00:04:37.44 quote from the lesson. It says the sums have served as the 00:04:37.44\00:04:40.88 prayer book and him book to Generations of Believers. 00:04:40.88\00:04:47.02 It's a collection of 150 songs. It's interesting both the 00:04:47.02\00:04:51.79 Hebrew and the SEP 2 agent contain 150 films, but they 00:04:51.79\00:04:55.79 know over them slightly different lane and most English 00:04:55.79\00:04:59.49 translations will follow the Hebrew numbering of the songs. 00:04:59.49\00:05:04.73 There's 2 ways that you can divide the Psalms as we study 00:05:04.73\00:05:07.74 throughout this quarter. The author of The Last Let me 00:05:07.74\00:05:10.01 mention her name. I'm not going to pronounce it right. Drago 00:05:10.01\00:05:13.54 Slava some trick. She's a PhD and Old Testament. She's the 00:05:13.54\00:05:17.05 managing editor of the Encyclopedia of 7th Day 00:05:17.05\00:05:20.55 Adventists at the General Conference. And she did a great 00:05:20.55\00:05:23.65 job with this lesson. She arranges our lessons thematic, 00:05:23.65\00:05:28.02 Ali. And we'll be looking at that. All the different types 00:05:28.02\00:05:31.23 of songs we have individual and corporate laments or prayers or 00:05:31.23\00:05:35.83 cries for help. There's individual and corporate 00:05:35.83\00:05:39.23 Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving or praise songs 00:05:39.23\00:05:43.97 we look at Himss honoring God is our creator hymns honoring 00:05:43.97\00:05:47.48 God is our King. We look at songs of trust and songs of 00:05:47.48\00:05:51.91 science. Royal sums in Pilgrim sums and Wisdom sums and Torah 00:05:51.91\00:05:57.42 psalms. 00:05:57.42\00:05:58.55 >> Penitential songs which would be seeking forgiveness of 00:05:58.55\00:06:02.86 God. It runs the home can and we're going to explore and 00:06:02.86\00:06:06.36 study that this quarter. Another way to divide the 00:06:06.36\00:06:09.93 Psalms the author. The quarterly does not do it, 00:06:09.93\00:06:12.07 but you can divide them into 5 votes which mirror the Torah or 00:06:12.07\00:06:16.97 the first 5 books of the Old Testament, 00:06:16.97\00:06:20.41 for instance, Psalms one to 41 with parallel with Genesis 00:06:20.41\00:06:25.48 sums. 42 to 72 with parallel with Exodus and you can go down 00:06:25.48\00:06:31.25 and see book 3 of the Psalms would parallel with Leviticus 00:06:31.25\00:06:34.76 book for with numbers and book 5 with Deuteronomy to me. 00:06:34.76\00:06:38.49 It's fascinating when we study there are so many ways. Thank 00:06:38.49\00:06:42.16 you can study the word of God that you can open up and see 00:06:42.16\00:06:45.73 that this week. We look at how to read the songs and let's 00:06:45.73\00:06:48.70 read or memory text. We are in Luke. 24 versus 44 45. This is 00:06:48.70\00:06:54.98 of course Jesus speaking to the disciples 00:06:54.98\00:06:57.71 and the upper room after the walk to him a U.S. with the 00:06:57.71\00:07:00.62 disciples, then E appears in the upper room and he says 00:07:00.62\00:07:03.62 these words loop. 24 44 45 and he said to them, these are the 00:07:03.62\00:07:07.96 words I spoke to you while I was still with you that all 00:07:07.96\00:07:11.19 things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of 00:07:11.19\00:07:13.70 Moses and the prophets and the psalms concerning me. And he 00:07:13.70\00:07:19.17 opened the understanding that they might comprehend the 00:07:19.17\00:07:22.57 scriptures. Now there are 3 main sections of the Hebrew 00:07:22.57\00:07:25.54 scriptures. We have the law, the profits and the writings 00:07:25.54\00:07:29.74 and of the writings, the most important or talked about are 00:07:29.74\00:07:33.45 pivotal work would be the psalms. So you can see Jesus 00:07:33.45\00:07:36.18 references that here. He says the law, the profits and the 00:07:36.18\00:07:40.32 songs 00:07:40.32\00:07:41.99 this week, we just look at what's the inspiration of the 00:07:41.99\00:07:45.16 Psalms and what's the purpose of the psalms in worship? 00:07:45.16\00:07:48.43 Who are the authors of the songs and what are the types of 00:07:48.43\00:07:51.53 songs, the poetry of the Somme, the emotion of the sums, 00:07:51.53\00:07:56.10 the prayers of the some of the most importantly, the God 00:07:56.10\00:07:59.47 centered nearness of the songs on Sunday. And my remaining 00:07:59.47\00:08:04.75 time, we're going to look at the sums, an ancient Israel's 00:08:04.75\00:08:08.92 war shop. And I want to submit few 7 purposes if we get 00:08:08.92\00:08:12.65 through them. All right. In front of the sums in worship 00:08:12.65\00:08:15.96 for number one or going to first chronicles term of Meta 00:08:15.96\00:08:19.09 first chronicles chapter 16. We're going to verse 7. 00:08:19.09\00:08:24.53 It starts out on that day. What day what is happening 00:08:24.53\00:08:27.87 here? The Ark has just been brought to Jerusalem and placed 00:08:27.87\00:08:33.21 in the midst of the tabernacle. On that day, David first 00:08:33.21\00:08:37.11 delivered this psalm into the hand of a staff and his 00:08:37.11\00:08:41.68 brethren to thank the Lord we see here. David is the author 00:08:41.68\00:08:46.35 of the Somme and actually they quote later from someone 0, 00:08:46.35\00:08:48.82 5, and you can read it in some. It's cold in the first 00:08:48.82\00:08:51.76 chronicle 16, but it's also some 105, 00:08:51.76\00:08:54.93 David deliver the Somme into the hand of a staff who is a 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.57 staff. He's one of the 3 leaders of the temple singers. 00:08:57.57\00:09:00.70 He's a singer in Israel. Ryan is right that we see the 00:09:00.70\00:09:03.30 songs connected with worship. We see music connected with 00:09:03.30\00:09:07.24 worship and music connected with the songs. If you jump 00:09:07.24\00:09:11.18 down diverse. 37 after this misquoted, it says he that 00:09:11.18\00:09:14.85 means David 00:09:14.85\00:09:16.52 last staff and his brothers there before the Ark of the 00:09:16.52\00:09:19.22 Covenant of the Lord to minister before the Ark 00:09:19.22\00:09:21.52 regularly as every day's work required. So what does that 00:09:21.52\00:09:26.83 mean? They were charged with music in the Temple worship and 00:09:26.83\00:09:31.97 it was Ed Daley. Experience takeaway. Number one. Music is 00:09:31.97\00:09:37.71 an integral part of worship. Yes. Make the sums up part of 00:09:37.71\00:09:43.24 your daily worship and facts. Someone 5, which is the sum 00:09:43.24\00:09:47.75 David deliver there in first Chronicle 16, some 1, 0, 00:09:47.75\00:09:50.49 5, 2, says saying to him, same praises to him. Talk of all his 00:09:50.49\00:09:56.69 wondrous works. Music is an integral part of worship. 00:09:56.69\00:10:00.70 Now for number 2, we go to Nehemiah 12 verse 8. 00:10:00.70\00:10:04.97 It says moreover, the leave EITs were and list their names. 00:10:04.97\00:10:08.37 I'm not going to read because I can't pronounce them. But what 00:10:08.37\00:10:11.37 did the Levi's do? They lead the Thanksgiving saw he and his 00:10:11.37\00:10:17.21 brother. Now, it's interesting to me, we think of the 00:10:17.21\00:10:19.91 restoration of Jerusalem. The rebuilding of the temple 00:10:19.91\00:10:23.49 Nehemiah rebuilt the walls, but they also release toward were 00:10:23.49\00:10:28.49 shot when we see the restoration of worship takeaway 00:10:28.49\00:10:32.63 number 2, Thanksgiving is an integral part of worship 00:10:32.63\00:10:37.13 because what did the Levi its lead? They lead them in 00:10:37.13\00:10:40.64 Thanksgiving. Psalms as heart of their worship. 00:10:40.64\00:10:46.01 Make thankfulness part of your worship. And if you're not sure 00:10:46.01\00:10:50.41 what you can even be thankful for, you can pray the sums back 00:10:50.41\00:10:54.22 to God. You can find one of those Thanksgiving songs and 00:10:54.22\00:10:58.52 you can pry it saying it back to God. Number 3 for this. 00:10:58.52\00:11:03.32 We're going to some 18 verse one, some 18 1. I will love 00:11:03.32\00:11:07.86 you. Oh, Lord, my strength. We see David's the author of 00:11:07.86\00:11:12.80 this song. It's the same. Saw mentioned in seconds a 00:11:12.80\00:11:15.50 mule. 22 and it talks about how David saying this. Someone got 00:11:15.50\00:11:19.91 delivered him from the hand of his enemies. And from Saul 00:11:19.91\00:11:24.41 takeaway, number 3, acknowledging God is our 00:11:24.41\00:11:27.78 sovereign and expressing love to him. It's an integral part 00:11:27.78\00:11:31.29 of worship. What a David say. I will love you o lord 00:11:31.29\00:11:36.46 sometimes in our worship or afraid to make emotion part of 00:11:36.46\00:11:40.56 worship. But we can acknowledge God is supreme and we can 00:11:40.56\00:11:44.47 express love to him and that is part of worship. 00:11:44.47\00:11:49.37 Number 4 were in some 30 versus one. How will extol you o Lord 00:11:49.37\00:11:55.04 for you have lifted me up. Have not let my phone's reign 00:11:55.04\00:11:58.98 over me. We see a similar concept in Psalm one. 45 verses 00:11:58.98\00:12:03.32 one to 3 outlook stole you. Oh, Lord, my God and Cain. 00:12:03.32\00:12:07.39 I will bless your name for ever and ever every day. I will 00:12:07.39\00:12:12.29 bless you and I will praise your name for ever and ever 00:12:12.29\00:12:15.93 take away. Number 4 praise is an integral part of worship. 00:12:15.93\00:12:21.27 You might say wait a minute to lead. Number 2 with 00:12:21.27\00:12:23.44 Thanksgiving is a part of worship. I believe the 00:12:23.44\00:12:26.14 Thanksgiving is thanking God for what he's done for us. 00:12:26.14\00:12:30.01 Praise is expressed scene who he is it safe to say inking 00:12:30.01\00:12:36.18 him. You could say that but for Hoey is not for what he's done 00:12:36.18\00:12:39.39 for us but for who he is and his greatness and his majesty 00:12:39.39\00:12:43.32 and his holiness and his goodness and his love moving 00:12:43.32\00:12:46.90 quickly. The next one. Number 5, some 86 verse one bow down 00:12:46.90\00:12:52.53 your hero. Lord, hear me for I am poor and needy. Takeaway 00:12:52.53\00:12:58.47 number 5, acknowledgement of our need is an integral part of 00:12:58.47\00:13:03.51 worship. That probably should have been number one because 00:13:03.51\00:13:06.35 when we come into God's presence, the first thing is to 00:13:06.35\00:13:09.38 recognize who we are and who God is and that we are Corin 00:13:09.38\00:13:14.09 sinful and needy and we need him. Number 6 is colossians 3 00:13:14.09\00:13:19.86 verse 16. Let the word of Christ welling you richly and 00:13:19.86\00:13:23.57 all wisdom teaching at admonishing one another and 00:13:23.57\00:13:26.67 sums and hymns and spiritual songs singing with Grace in 00:13:26.67\00:13:30.31 your hearts to the Lord. Take Away. 6 music is connected 00:13:30.31\00:13:34.71 with the word in worship. Did you notice that in that 00:13:34.71\00:13:38.48 scripture? The word of God is connected with music. So not 00:13:38.48\00:13:42.45 just his music, part of worship, but music in scripture 00:13:42.45\00:13:46.32 saying scripture songs back to God as part of your worship. 00:13:46.32\00:13:52.39 In number 7, prayer is connected with the sums in 00:13:52.39\00:13:58.40 worship. Spend time praying the sums back to God and it would 00:13:58.40\00:14:04.37 change and revolutionize your worship. 00:14:04.37\00:14:07.21 >> And many men. Thank you, Jill. Great opener. My name is 00:14:07.21\00:14:11.28 Ryan Day. I have Monday's lesson entitled Meet the 00:14:11.28\00:14:14.38 Psalmist and we're going kind of continue on the theme a 00:14:14.38\00:14:17.75 little bit of the same theme that Joe brought out. We're 00:14:17.75\00:14:20.69 going to go a little deeper into some other songs and look 00:14:20.69\00:14:24.69 at just the different elements of what we see and how we see 00:14:24.69\00:14:28.56 this on this opening up their hearts and sharing with us what 00:14:28.56\00:14:31.67 they're going through at that particular time. I want to 00:14:31.67\00:14:34.27 start. But with the lesson begins with its as King David, 00:14:34.27\00:14:36.74 whose name appears and the titles of most Psalms was 00:14:36.74\00:14:39.51 active in organizing the liturgy of Israel's worship. 00:14:39.51\00:14:43.31 He is called the sweets on this of Israel there in seconds, 00:14:43.31\00:14:46.28 Samuel Chapter 23 and verse one, the New Testament attest 00:14:46.28\00:14:50.12 to the Vidic authorship of various songs. And of course, 00:14:50.12\00:14:54.09 the Scripture brings out a Matthew. 22 in acts, Chapter 2 00:14:54.09\00:14:57.59 chapter? 34 35 acts for Romans for 6. We find a reference to 00:14:57.59\00:15:03.13 this. This truth. Numerous songs are composed by the 00:15:03.13\00:15:06.77 temple musicians as Joe brought out, who are also Levis, 00:15:06.77\00:15:10.44 for example, some 50 and of course, the lesson to show her 00:15:10.44\00:15:14.71 some 73 to 83 by a said, we do a little bit deeper research. 00:15:14.71\00:15:18.28 You'll find that many of these songs were actually written by 00:15:18.28\00:15:20.95 David. But for the purpose of putting them to music, which of 00:15:20.95\00:15:24.29 course the Bible does tested. It says a sum of a set many 00:15:24.29\00:15:27.92 times. It was written by David for a set to set to music. 00:15:27.92\00:15:31.63 For instance, 73 would be a great example. But then you go 00:15:31.63\00:15:34.50 and read some 42 some. 44 to 47, some 49 for some 84, 00:15:34.50\00:15:40.40 85 and some 88 by the sons of Cora as the listen brings out 00:15:40.40\00:15:44.41 here some 88 by Hayman or human. Have you say that the 00:15:44.41\00:15:49.11 eggs, right? 00:15:49.11\00:15:50.35 And some 89 by Ethan, the as right and of course, beyond 00:15:50.35\00:15:53.68 them. Solomon, of course, is responsible for writing some 00:15:53.68\00:15:56.38 72, someone, 27 and of course, Moses is a traditionally 00:15:56.38\00:16:00.72 attested to have written some chapter 90 as well, are somber, 00:16:00.72\00:16:04.79 some 90 as well. And so what we're going to do is when to 00:16:04.79\00:16:07.36 jump into some of the songs were going to the sums. We're 00:16:07.36\00:16:09.30 going to see just what the psalms reveal about the 00:16:09.30\00:16:12.70 experiences of these authors. And I love the book of Psalms. 00:16:12.70\00:16:16.24 I've read the book of Psalms over and over and over 00:16:16.24\00:16:18.27 throughout my life because it just brings it really shows you 00:16:18.27\00:16:21.94 that these were real men, the storeroom in going through real 00:16:21.94\00:16:25.11 things, point out their heart to God in ways that we can 00:16:25.11\00:16:28.58 relate to. And that's the wonderful thing about it. 00:16:28.58\00:16:30.85 For instance, you have some independents there in some. 00:16:30.85\00:16:33.42 25 verses one through 5. Some 25 verses one to 5. 00:16:33.42\00:16:36.86 Notice what it says here. This is to you, Lord. I lift up 00:16:36.86\00:16:39.73 my soul. Oh, my God. I trust in you. 00:16:39.73\00:16:43.33 >> Let me not be ashamed. Let not Mike enemies triumph 00:16:43.33\00:16:47.57 over me. You'll see this come up quite a bit. David, 00:16:47.57\00:16:50.44 especially writing in saying, Lord, Help Me overcome my 00:16:50.44\00:16:53.94 enemies. This week, David was a man of war. David was a a man 00:16:53.94\00:16:57.88 of God. He was a man after God's own heart in the enemy 00:16:57.88\00:17:00.32 through everything he could again see, you'll see this team 00:17:00.32\00:17:02.68 often rise up over and over a verse 3 of some. 25 says, 00:17:02.68\00:17:06.62 indeed, let no one who waits on you be ashamed. Let those be 00:17:06.62\00:17:11.23 ashamed. Who deal treacherously without calls. Show me your 00:17:11.23\00:17:14.93 ways or teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach 00:17:14.93\00:17:19.23 me for you are the God of my salvation on you. I wait all 00:17:19.23\00:17:24.24 the days. You can see David's dependents here. Just Lord 00:17:24.24\00:17:27.11 Lord, I'm depending on you. I'm waiting on you o Lord. 00:17:27.11\00:17:30.58 >> Of course, there are other songs will see deep soul 00:17:30.58\00:17:33.15 searching and spiritual examination that's brought 00:17:33.15\00:17:35.55 about through the sums confession and repentance and 00:17:35.55\00:17:38.42 of course, sums of thanks and praise, for instance, in some 00:17:38.42\00:17:41.76 75 and verse one here and also some 77 verse one. It says we 00:17:41.76\00:17:46.39 think we give thanks to God we give. Thanks for your wondrous 00:17:46.39\00:17:50.33 works to clear that your name is near that. Some 75 in verse 00:17:50.33\00:17:53.70 one. And of course, also some 71. 77. 0st 1, I cried out to 00:17:53.70\00:17:58.47 God with my voice to God with my voice he gave and gave it to 00:17:58.47\00:18:02.74 me. So again, understanding the got here is a Scotts listening 00:18:02.74\00:18:06.05 to us and they understood this. There are songs of lamenting 00:18:06.05\00:18:10.55 that we see some sun lamenting. Of course, there's many of 00:18:10.55\00:18:13.05 these. But the example given here in the in the in the study 00:18:13.05\00:18:16.59 of some 88 verses one through 3, some in the 8 verses one 00:18:16.59\00:18:20.43 through 3 says, Oh, lord, because of my salvation, 00:18:20.43\00:18:23.13 I have cried out. I have cried out day and night before you 00:18:23.13\00:18:27.34 let my prayer come before you in kind your ear to my cry for 00:18:27.34\00:18:31.74 my soul is full of troubles. And my life draws near to the 00:18:31.74\00:18:36.85 grave. And so we can relate to this endeavor. Some of those 00:18:36.85\00:18:40.35 times we just like Lord, please hear my prayer. I need you to 00:18:40.35\00:18:43.65 come through like you've never come through before. We since 00:18:43.65\00:18:46.76 the humanity of these authors, as they often are crying out in 00:18:46.76\00:18:50.33 the minting, of course, is Joe brought out. There are songs 00:18:50.33\00:18:53.29 that were meant for to be saying as songs or of course, 00:18:53.29\00:18:56.50 with singing, for instance, 89 in verse one makes it clear I 00:18:56.50\00:18:59.77 will scene of the mercies of the Lord forever with my mouth. 00:18:59.77\00:19:03.71 I will make known your faithfulness to all 00:19:03.71\00:19:06.01 generations. And so we see much in much of this, of course, 00:19:06.01\00:19:09.31 songs of love songs of longing. And of course, the one that 00:19:09.31\00:19:12.78 when it comes to my mind that I love even singing often this 00:19:12.78\00:19:15.82 song is based on it's the song as the Deer, which is based on 00:19:15.82\00:19:18.95 some chapter, 42 in verse one. And I love the words to it. 00:19:18.95\00:19:22.16 >> As the 2, you had to follow a lot of Soma so long with a to 00:19:22.16\00:19:29.36 Z, Whew. 00:19:29.36\00:19:32.20 >> Mama Hart says I and I alone to lose should see. I just love 00:19:32.20\00:19:38.07 that. Even though it's based off of that one takes there in 00:19:38.07\00:19:41.18 some 42 and verse one. It just really shows the authors along 00:19:41.18\00:19:46.88 in desire. Lord, I need you. I depend on you. I long and 00:19:46.88\00:19:50.69 then you're in for you each and every day. Some 84 versus one. 00:19:50.69\00:19:54.66 And 2, you get that same tone this deep along this yearning 00:19:54.66\00:19:57.89 for the Lord. How lovely is short tabernacle? The summit's 00:19:57.89\00:20:01.50 writes, Oh, Lord of hosts my Soul Longs. Yes. Even faints 00:20:01.50\00:20:07.07 for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh. Cry out 00:20:07.07\00:20:10.97 for the living. God. Have you ever experience that? I know I 00:20:10.97\00:20:14.64 find that often happening. The older I get the more 00:20:14.64\00:20:17.45 experienced, I get the more stuff you go through. You just 00:20:17.45\00:20:21.28 learn just how if you really are about life, you learn the 00:20:21.28\00:20:24.89 more you learn, the more you realize just how much little 00:20:24.89\00:20:27.89 you really know and how dependent and long you are for 00:20:27.89\00:20:31.89 the Lord to show up to lead and to guide you because ultimately 00:20:31.89\00:20:35.10 I don't trust myself, right? The more you grow in God, 00:20:35.10\00:20:37.80 you realize I don't trust me, Lord, I trust you take the will 00:20:37.80\00:20:40.64 of my life. You see these messages. You see this, this 00:20:40.64\00:20:43.87 powerful just she's just foreshadowing and beautiful. 00:20:43.87\00:20:49.64 Amazing message just burst forth from this on this as Uber 00:20:49.64\00:20:54.15 as you go through in scale over the sums, of course, it also 00:20:54.15\00:20:58.92 shows us on this, our but a reflection of the example of 00:20:58.92\00:21:02.09 the many people in the Bible that, 00:21:02.09\00:21:05.23 you know, went through some messed up situations and were 00:21:05.23\00:21:07.50 perfect ride. These were men who were striving for that 00:21:07.50\00:21:10.43 perfection in Christ that we're striving for to grow in 00:21:10.43\00:21:13.40 character and and and and and to be more like Jesus. But you 00:21:13.40\00:21:18.24 have a worse time and through some messed up stuff. And I 00:21:18.24\00:21:20.94 just made a note some notes here. I'm probably not going to 00:21:20.94\00:21:23.38 read all of these, but it's a reflection of the Somme us or 00:21:23.38\00:21:26.31 reflection of the other Bible riders and characters that we 00:21:26.31\00:21:28.98 find throughout the Bible. For instance, Abraham being too 00:21:28.98\00:21:31.72 old, Elijah was fearful and suicidal. Joseph was air going 00:21:31.72\00:21:34.89 abused job, went bankrupt. Moses was a murder and had a 00:21:34.89\00:21:38.59 speech problem. Gideon was afraid. Sampson was a 00:21:38.59\00:21:41.10 womanizer, a I was a prostitute. 00:21:41.10\00:21:43.10 >> You go through all these different people. But you see 00:21:43.10\00:21:45.97 that the Somme us were also men that needed the Lord. They also 00:21:45.97\00:21:49.90 had swept through some missteps situations and they certainly 00:21:49.90\00:21:53.27 need the Lord to come through for them as well. 00:21:53.27\00:21:55.94 >> Even in their weaknesses and in their trials and in their 00:21:55.94\00:21:58.88 tribulations. And so I just love that. And of course, 00:21:58.88\00:22:02.28 I wanted to in this particular lesson on one of my favorite 00:22:02.28\00:22:05.92 sums because the mini some this help remind us of our 00:22:05.92\00:22:09.42 brokenness in constant need to the safe. You're that's 00:22:09.42\00:22:11.73 ultimately what I get from this so much more than just that one 00:22:11.73\00:22:15.10 sentence that I just said. But when I scale through and I 00:22:15.10\00:22:17.93 read and survey the sums, it helps me to be reminded of my 00:22:17.93\00:22:21.87 constant need. And you know what I'm broke and I need to 00:22:21.87\00:22:24.07 fix. I need Christ to be that Potter has on the clay too many 00:22:24.07\00:22:28.81 to break me to mold me, to shape me into the character and 00:22:28.81\00:22:32.01 into the man he wants me to be. And I love some 23 and I'm sure 00:22:32.01\00:22:35.52 we're going to spend some time in that some at some point in 00:22:35.52\00:22:38.22 the future. But I just love the words here. The Lord is my 00:22:38.22\00:22:42.22 shepherd. David pouring his heart out. His need his 00:22:42.22\00:22:44.79 dependence upon God. I shall not want. He makes me lie down 00:22:44.79\00:22:49.16 in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. 00:22:49.16\00:22:52.77 He restoreth my soul. He leads me in the paths of 00:22:52.77\00:22:57.01 righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though, I walk 00:22:57.01\00:23:01.74 through the valley of the shadow of death. I love that. 00:23:01.74\00:23:04.98 He says I will fear no evil like this. God has not given us 00:23:04.98\00:23:07.68 the spirit of fear. He says for you are with me, your rod and 00:23:07.68\00:23:11.62 your staff. They comfort me. You prepare a table before me 00:23:11.62\00:23:15.92 in the presence of my enemies. You you anoint my head with 00:23:15.92\00:23:20.40 oil. My cup runs over. God brings the abundance of 00:23:20.40\00:23:25.00 blessings even though we don't deserve it. Surely goodness and 00:23:25.00\00:23:28.77 mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will do 00:23:28.77\00:23:33.71 well in the house of the Lord and I love how it is for ever 00:23:33.71\00:23:37.41 thus on. This reminds us each and every one of us each and 00:23:37.41\00:23:40.48 every one of them reminds us that quitting is not an option, 00:23:40.48\00:23:43.55 maybe even fold, even though these brothers went through 00:23:43.55\00:23:46.22 stuff, even though there were moments when it seems like they 00:23:46.22\00:23:49.12 were at their wits end. And you can just since the lament, 00:23:49.12\00:23:52.09 you could just since the pain and the sorrow that they're 00:23:52.09\00:23:54.63 dealing for, even in times when yes, they were literally 00:23:54.63\00:23:58.20 walking through the valley of the shadow of death. They 00:23:58.20\00:24:01.60 remind us I will through it all. Trust in you, Lord. 00:24:01.60\00:24:05.31 I will through at all do well in the house of the Lord, 00:24:05.31\00:24:08.81 not just today and quit tomorrow, not for a week and 00:24:08.81\00:24:11.51 then quit the next week, not for a few years and then give 00:24:11.51\00:24:13.92 it all up a few years down the road. But I will dwell in the 00:24:13.92\00:24:16.45 House of the Lord forever because quitting is not an 00:24:16.45\00:24:20.09 option. And so the song this remind us these beautiful, 00:24:20.09\00:24:23.12 beautiful songs, remind us that putting our hand in the hand of 00:24:23.12\00:24:25.89 the lord and allowing him to lead and still our lives 00:24:25.89\00:24:28.26 through whatever trials, difficulties tribulations 00:24:28.26\00:24:31.30 through the good and through the bad we trust in the Lord 00:24:31.30\00:24:34.17 because he knows what's best. 00:24:34.17\00:24:36.10 >> For us and I think you so much, Ryan, one incredible 00:24:36.10\00:24:39.91 study. They will sing through the Psalms. In fact, 00:25:40.27\00:25:42.60 when I was over, they give me some years ago they would spend 00:25:42.60\00:25:45.64 2 or 3 hours singing the songs and then they give you about 00:25:45.64\00:25:48.88 maybe 20 minutes for us and self. The songs are powerful 00:25:48.88\00:25:51.98 because they really do is, as Ryan was saying, they really do 00:25:51.98\00:25:54.82 encourage us to remain faithful to God, who is the one who is 00:25:54.82\00:25:59.15 faithful to us, 00:25:59.15\00:26:01.32 the quarterly the tech springs out here. And that's how the 00:26:01.32\00:26:03.76 school less than the SA must make the believing community 00:26:03.76\00:26:06.19 aware of the full range of human experience. They 00:26:06.19\00:26:09.16 demonstrate the believes can worship God in every season in 00:26:09.16\00:26:13.13 life. And then we see the following. Number one, hymns 00:26:13.13\00:26:17.27 that magnify God for his majesty and power in creation. 00:26:17.27\00:26:21.44 His kingly rule, his judgment. His faithfulness, for example, 00:26:21.44\00:26:25.88 saw 24 verses one through 6. The Earth is the lord's and the 00:26:25.88\00:26:29.92 fullness. They're off the world. And they that dwell 00:26:29.92\00:26:33.02 therein for is founded upon the seas, established upon the 00:26:33.02\00:26:36.02 floods who shall ascending to the hill of Lord who she'll 00:26:36.02\00:26:38.83 stand in his holy place. He did has clean hands and a 00:26:38.83\00:26:41.96 pure heart who has not lifted up the soul and a vanity or 00:26:41.96\00:26:45.13 sworn deceitfully. He should receive the blessing from the 00:26:45.13\00:26:48.10 Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 00:26:48.10\00:26:52.07 This is the generation of them that seek him that seek thy 00:26:52.07\00:26:55.14 face shakeup, sila. We'll talk about seal here in just a 00:26:55.14\00:26:59.35 second. Number 2, Thanksgiving Psalms. The Psalms expressed 00:26:59.35\00:27:03.55 profound gratitude for God's abundant last scenes. 00:27:03.55\00:27:07.66 Read Psalm 107, for example. Begin with the first want to 00:27:07.66\00:27:10.53 give. Thanks unto the Lord for he is good for his mercy 00:27:10.53\00:27:13.29 endures forever. Let the redeem that the Lord say so someone 7 00:27:13.29\00:27:17.53 0st 2, he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, however, 00:27:17.53\00:27:20.70 say that men would praise the Lord for his goodness for his 00:27:20.70\00:27:24.17 wonderful works to the children of men. 40 satisfies the 00:27:24.17\00:27:27.44 longing. This is 00:28:15.06\00:28:19.46 another characteristic of the Psalm Psalm 3, 3, 4, But thou 00:28:19.46\00:28:24.00 or Lord, oh, lord artists, she'll for me. My glory and the 00:28:24.00\00:28:27.70 lift off of my head. I cried unto The Lord is My Voice. 00:28:27.70\00:28:30.77 And you heard me out of his Holy Hill Sila or there's 00:28:30.77\00:28:35.31 wisdom songs, songs that provide practical guidelines 00:28:35.31\00:28:38.71 for righteous living like someone versus one in 2. 00:28:38.71\00:28:42.68 Blessed is the man 00:28:42.68\00:28:44.42 that walk is not in the council. The ungodly north 00:28:44.42\00:28:47.09 stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of the 00:28:47.09\00:28:49.92 scornful, but his delight. He's in the law of the Lord. 00:28:49.92\00:28:53.76 And in this law, does he meditate day and night or some 00:28:53.76\00:28:57.53 30 to one of my favorite promises verse 8? I will 00:28:57.53\00:29:00.77 instruct the and teach the in the way that thou shall go. 00:29:00.77\00:29:03.57 I will guide the with mine. I'd be not as a horse. There is 00:29:03.57\00:29:06.51 a view that has no understanding whose mouth as he 00:29:06.51\00:29:08.81 held with a bit and bridal unless they come Iran to the or 00:29:08.81\00:29:12.48 some 33 verse 10. The Lord brings the council of the heave 00:29:12.48\00:29:17.15 into not he makes the devices of the people of non if at and 00:29:17.15\00:29:22.52 then there's Royal Psalms Royal Psalms that point to Christ who 00:29:22.52\00:29:26.03 is sovereign and deliver of God's people sums that we like 00:29:26.03\00:29:30.03 someone 16 verses one through 6. I love the Lord because he 00:29:30.03\00:29:33.60 has heard my voice and my supplications because he's 00:29:33.60\00:29:36.27 inclined. As you wrote to me, therefore, I will call upon him 00:29:36.27\00:29:39.11 as long as I live the SARS of death. Come past me, the pains 00:29:39.11\00:29:43.35 of h*** get hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow. Then I 00:29:43.35\00:29:47.22 called upon the name of the Lord. Oh, Lord, I beseech Thee 00:29:47.22\00:29:50.45 deliver my Soul. Gracious is the Lord and right as she our 00:29:50.45\00:29:55.22 God is merciful. 00:29:55.22\00:29:57.09 The Lord Preserves the Simple. I was brought low and he helped 00:29:57.09\00:30:00.56 me more. There's historical songs. Songs that recall Israel 00:30:00.56\00:30:04.67 Israel's past and and highlight faithfulness. It and Israel's 00:30:04.67\00:30:08.37 unfaithfulness to teach coming generations not repeat the 00:30:08.37\00:30:11.47 mistakes of their ancestors, but to put their trust in God 00:30:11.47\00:30:14.41 and to remain faithful to our covenant. God like Psalms 105, 00:30:14.41\00:30:18.88 and 106. Remember, his marvelous works works that he's 00:30:18.88\00:30:22.35 done. His wonders and the judgments of his mouth. You see 00:30:22.35\00:30:25.72 that reminisce service, the children of Jacob and his chose 00:30:25.72\00:30:28.09 my can read all of those songs. But we are encouraged to read 00:30:28.09\00:30:32.29 some 1, 0, 5, 1, 0, 6, once every week. Just remember God's 00:30:32.29\00:30:37.60 leading in past history of God's people because as we 00:30:37.60\00:30:41.74 remember how God has led in the past, we will have nothing to 00:30:41.74\00:30:44.54 fear for the future. And then this is just an additional one 00:30:44.54\00:30:47.94 by through. And there's angry songs this on the show us how 00:30:47.94\00:30:51.48 to process or anger with God, right? If you ever read the 00:30:51.48\00:30:55.08 psalms and wondered, why is David so angry some of the 00:30:55.08\00:30:57.79 time, right? Well, he's processing his process. The 00:30:57.79\00:30:59.95 Menninger, it's it's good to processor and with God, we 00:30:59.95\00:31:03.09 learn how to process or anger with got we learn how to 00:31:03.09\00:31:05.59 process anger responsibly so that hopefully won't process 00:31:05.59\00:31:09.56 anger irresponsibly some. 54 help me save me o God by thy 00:31:09.56\00:31:14.50 name. Judge me by my strength. That's the first thing that 00:31:14.50\00:31:17.77 David does in these angry songs as he asked God to help him and 00:31:17.77\00:31:21.58 he says hear my prayer verse 2, 0, God give you the words of my 00:31:21.58\00:31:25.28 mouth and then explains the situation for strange is 00:31:25.28\00:31:27.72 versed. 3 have risen up against me and oppressive sic my soul. 00:31:27.72\00:31:30.99 They have not said God before them and the whole God verse 4 00:31:30.99\00:31:35.29 God as my help for the Lord is with me with them that I hold 00:31:35.29\00:31:38.86 my saw and then he lets go. He lets it out. He let his 00:31:38.86\00:31:41.80 anger out first 5, he sure would even want to Miami's cut 00:31:41.80\00:31:45.17 them off a night truth, just just let him have it. Of 00:31:45.17\00:31:47.40 course, David actually doesn't do that specifically with saw 00:31:47.40\00:31:51.04 because he lets his anchor out to God and God 00:31:51.04\00:31:54.64 fills the void of that anger being released, that he fills 00:31:54.64\00:31:58.28 the void with his spirit with the holy spirit. That's what 00:31:58.28\00:32:00.32 God wants to do for each one of us. And when he does that, 00:32:00.32\00:32:02.38 then David in Psalm 54 for 6, 00:32:02.38\00:32:06.19 we praise God. I will freely sacrifice into the I will 00:32:06.19\00:32:08.92 praise thy name o Lord for it is good. David was just angry 00:32:08.92\00:32:12.33 and now he's praising God because let all of the anger 00:32:12.33\00:32:14.76 out and got us fill the void with this spirit Ver 7 for us 00:32:14.76\00:32:18.10 to live in the out of all my trouble. My 9, my eye has seen 00:32:18.10\00:32:22.10 his deliverance upon my enemies. And of course, this is 00:32:22.10\00:32:24.64 a face statement that David makes. Now the push of the 00:32:24.64\00:32:27.44 Psalms demonstrates distinctive power to capture the attentions 00:32:27.44\00:32:31.15 of the readers. And some of these predict devices are kind 00:32:31.15\00:32:34.18 of lost in translation, the Corley says, but we can still 00:32:34.18\00:32:37.35 see in our native language and appreciate many of them. 00:32:37.35\00:32:41.29 For example, 00:32:41.29\00:32:42.52 parallelism involves the combining of symmetrically 00:32:42.52\00:32:45.49 constructed words or phrases or thoughts. Parallelism helps in 00:32:45.49\00:32:49.16 understanding the meaning of the corresponding parts, 00:32:49.16\00:32:51.70 for instance, bless the Lord O My soul and all that is within 00:32:51.70\00:32:56.10 the bless this holy name in this perilous, my soul and all 00:32:56.10\00:33:00.64 that in with in mean, namely months. Whole Bean are the same 00:33:00.64\00:33:04.11 thing or against someone. 47 verse 11. The Lord takes 00:33:04.11\00:33:07.48 pleasure in them that fear him, comma, those that hoping his 00:33:07.48\00:33:11.75 mercy. So those that fear him is parallel to those that her 00:33:11.75\00:33:15.26 hoping his mercy, if you got is to hope in his mercy imagery, 00:33:15.26\00:33:19.53 for example, the use of figurative language to strongly 00:33:19.53\00:33:23.16 appeal to the readers physical senses. God is our refuge and 00:33:23.16\00:33:27.87 strength. And he's depicted as the shadow of wings. He's a 00:33:27.87\00:33:32.34 he's got his shadow of wings over a psalm 91. He did was in 00:33:32.34\00:33:36.18 a secret place of the most high, shall abide under the 00:33:36.18\00:33:37.88 shadow of the almighty. I would say of the Lord. He is my 00:33:37.88\00:33:40.72 refuge and my fortress or Maris which expresses the tally of a 00:33:40.72\00:33:45.39 pair of contrast. In part, I cried unto the Lord Day and 00:33:45.39\00:33:49.42 night. Those a contrast in parts day and night. But that's 00:33:49.42\00:33:52.33 the totality of the thought cried as Lloyd Day and night. 00:33:52.33\00:33:55.90 And then we have workplace which employed the sound of 00:33:55.90\00:33:58.57 words to make up on our highlight a special spiritual 00:33:58.57\00:34:01.00 message like in some 96 4, 5, The Hebrew word. Hello. He gods 00:34:01.00\00:34:05.97 and and he he idols creates a wordplay to convey the message 00:34:05.97\00:34:09.18 that the gods of the nation's only appeared to be low. 00:34:09.18\00:34:11.65 He gods but Mill your hello. He he idols and then this 00:34:11.65\00:34:16.48 contrasts teen opposite thoughts in the second line. 00:34:16.48\00:34:19.72 For example, someone for 6, the Lord knows the way of the 00:34:19.72\00:34:22.32 righteous, but the way the ungodly shall perish, you've 00:34:22.32\00:34:25.46 got the righteous and the ungodly contrast it. And then 00:34:25.46\00:34:28.70 this synthetic Portree thought complete in the second line. 00:34:28.70\00:34:31.63 The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff, which is driven 00:34:31.63\00:34:35.37 away by the wind. So you've got the second thought repeated to 00:34:35.37\00:34:39.87 to the the the thought completed in the second line. 00:34:39.87\00:34:44.41 And finally have the word see Lassila denotes a brief 00:34:44.41\00:34:48.45 interlude, either a call for a pause or reflection was 00:34:48.45\00:34:53.02 etcetera. 00:34:53.02\00:34:55.22 Either cause report pause or for selection on the messenger 00:34:55.22\00:34:58.96 or petit to a section of the saw a change maybe of musical 00:34:58.96\00:35:02.80 accompaniment say like, think about this and so many times 00:35:02.80\00:35:06.47 you go through the song's. David makes a point. The 00:35:06.47\00:35:08.74 profound point may be right in the middle of the Somme and 00:35:08.74\00:35:10.77 he's got us a lot. And that's calling us to just think about 00:35:10.77\00:35:14.38 applause upon that. And we used that same phrase many times, 00:35:14.38\00:35:18.75 not say a lot, but the same idea many times as we talk. 00:35:18.75\00:35:21.75 Think about that for a second. You know. Think about that, 00:35:21.75\00:35:24.09 right? And so the Psalms complete this dynamic, 00:35:24.09\00:35:29.36 powerful, beautiful 00:35:29.36\00:35:30.89 communication that got us encourage us to enter into when 00:35:30.89\00:35:34.46 we communicate with each other when we communicate with God 00:35:34.46\00:35:37.50 and men do. And thank you, Pastor James inspiring praise 00:35:37.50\00:35:41.04 the Lord. 00:35:41.04\00:35:42.17 Well, we are now on Wednesdays portion and my name is John. 00:35:42.17\00:35:45.71 Didn't see the title for Wednesday is inspired prayers. 00:35:45.71\00:35:49.38 As you read the songs, he will notice that there are many 00:35:49.38\00:35:52.05 prayers. 00:35:52.05\00:35:53.18 >> And you see that David is just pouring out his heart to 00:35:53.18\00:35:57.39 God talking to God, let him know what's inside his heart. 00:35:57.39\00:36:02.02 And the lesson points out, too. 00:36:02.02\00:36:04.86 See a few of these. Let's go to second Samuel Chapter. 23 verse 00:36:04.86\00:36:09.73 one 2 00:36:09.73\00:36:11.37 and we have there now. These are the last words of David. 00:36:11.37\00:36:16.40 The U.S. says David, the son of Jesse, the says the man raised 00:36:16.40\00:36:20.88 up on high the anointed about God of Jacob and the sweet 00:36:20.88\00:36:26.31 psalmist of Israel. 00:36:26.31\00:36:28.48 The spirit of the Lord spoke by me and his word was on my 00:36:28.48\00:36:34.72 tongue. So you see here that even 00:36:34.72\00:36:38.23 in the act of prayer, the Holy Spirit gets involved. And the 00:36:38.23\00:36:44.47 expressions that you see in the songs that our prayers are also 00:36:44.47\00:36:48.90 directed by the Holy Spirit. You know, when you approach 00:36:48.90\00:36:51.41 God, you're coming to him and you have a situation, you have 00:36:51.41\00:36:54.71 something going on. The Holy Spirit takes over even in your 00:36:54.71\00:36:59.58 prayer expression to God. And this is a marvelous thing 00:36:59.58\00:37:03.85 to understand. I'm going to 00:37:03.85\00:37:06.59 mentioned a few places where you see that the Holy Spirit is 00:37:06.59\00:37:12.19 involved here in the book of Acts. You see Peter come from 00:37:12.19\00:37:16.77 that the Holy Spirit spoke to David Psalms one 15 I saw I act 00:37:16.77\00:37:21.64 chapter one verse 15. And in those days, Peter stood up in 00:37:21.64\00:37:25.34 the midst of the disciples and said the number of names 00:37:25.34\00:37:28.71 together. We're about 120. He says men and brother in this 00:37:28.71\00:37:32.95 scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the holy goals 00:37:32.95\00:37:37.59 by the month of David Spake before concerning Judas, 00:37:37.59\00:37:41.26 which was guide to them. That to Jesus acts one 20 where 00:37:41.26\00:37:45.16 it is written in the book of Psalms, let his habitation be 00:37:45.16\00:37:48.23 desolate and let no man dwell therein and his bishopric let 00:37:48.23\00:37:52.17 another take. So you see 00:37:52.17\00:37:54.04 Peter confirming that the Holy Spirit's folk by his servant. 00:37:54.04\00:37:58.77 David, now want to take you to a Romans chapter 8 and that 00:37:58.77\00:38:03.71 lesson point outburst. 26 27. But I want to start in verse. 00:38:03.71\00:38:06.75 21 2 00:38:06.75\00:38:08.75 present the contacts and how this is presented here in a way 00:38:08.75\00:38:13.59 that could lead to to understand how the holy spirit 00:38:13.59\00:38:16.89 gets involved 00:38:16.89\00:38:18.19 verse. 21 Roman say 21, because the creation itself also will 00:38:18.19\00:38:23.06 be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious 00:38:23.06\00:38:27.54 liberty of the children of God. 00:38:27.54\00:38:30.14 For we know that the whole creation notice groans and 00:38:30.14\00:38:33.84 labor's would birth pangs together until now we are 00:38:33.84\00:38:38.31 supposed to notice and this is being brought up by Paul. 00:38:38.31\00:38:41.85 Now it says verse. 22, not only that, but we also who have the 00:38:41.85\00:38:47.19 first-fruits all disparate. Even we ourselves groan within 00:38:47.19\00:38:51.89 ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the reduction of 00:38:51.89\00:38:55.43 our body. But we were say that in this hope, but hope that is 00:38:55.43\00:38:59.63 seen is not hope for. Why does one still hope for what he 00:38:59.63\00:39:02.60 sees? 00:39:02.60\00:39:03.64 But if we hope 00:39:03.64\00:39:05.97 for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with 00:39:05.97\00:39:09.61 perseverance. 00:39:09.61\00:39:10.95 Now, notice first. 26 likewise, the spirit that is the Holy 00:39:10.95\00:39:15.32 Spirit also helps our weaknesses for we do not know 00:39:15.32\00:39:19.72 what we should pray for as we ought. 00:39:19.72\00:39:22.59 But the spirit himself makes intercession for us with 00:39:22.59\00:39:28.00 groaning with with groanings which cannot be ordered. 00:39:28.00\00:39:33.20 Can wreck your mind around that to understand that as you go to 00:39:33.20\00:39:37.34 the Lord in prayer and you humble yourself before him, 00:39:37.34\00:39:41.14 the Holy Spirit gets involved and takes your prayers to 00:39:41.14\00:39:45.08 heaven with groanings which cannot be ordered. This is a 00:39:45.08\00:39:48.48 marvelous thing to understand and it should draw was close to 00:39:48.48\00:39:52.02 the Lord to understand that the Holy Spirit is even taking a 00:39:52.02\00:39:54.79 person putting them in the language of heaven. 00:39:54.79\00:39:58.29 Beautiful, beautiful scripture. 00:39:58.29\00:40:00.50 Now, I want to let you know, and you should know that the 00:40:00.50\00:40:05.27 holy spirit gets more involved in our lives. Then we think I 00:40:05.27\00:40:10.21 remember a time that we received a phone call here at 3 00:40:10.21\00:40:12.47 of you in because I was working and pastoral ministry. Some 00:40:12.47\00:40:15.21 people are calling with different problems, 00:40:15.21\00:40:17.18 difficulties they're facing. 00:40:17.18\00:40:19.18 And though, you know, we're praying before the people 00:40:19.18\00:40:21.72 calling for prayer for the Holy spirit to use us. And this is 00:40:21.72\00:40:25.39 one time when this man present the situation, he says I'm 00:40:25.39\00:40:28.76 going to court tomorrow. 00:40:28.76\00:40:30.53 People have come against be unfairly. There they are 00:40:30.53\00:40:34.73 accusing me of something I have not done. And as he was 00:40:34.73\00:40:37.60 talking, I thought I'll share with him some. 46, God is our 00:40:37.60\00:40:41.47 refuge and strength of Preston helping time of trouble. 00:40:41.47\00:40:44.91 And I continue listening to him. And just when I thought 00:40:44.91\00:40:48.84 the time had come to share songs, 46, some 46 completely 00:40:48.84\00:40:52.81 left my mind. I couldn't even remember it. I said I'm trying 00:40:52.81\00:40:55.78 to remember this. The scriptures I wanted to share 00:40:55.78\00:40:58.02 with you and it was gone. It was gone and then well, 00:40:58.02\00:41:01.36 let's go to some. And I mentioned a psalm and I so I 00:41:01.36\00:41:04.46 don't know why that song is coming to my mind. I don't even 00:41:04.46\00:41:07.10 know what it says. Let's go look at it. 00:41:07.10\00:41:09.23 So we want to that's Tom and I was amazed 00:41:09.23\00:41:14.34 the Holy Spirit had the words in the song that specifically 00:41:14.34\00:41:19.04 address the situation he was going to. And I said, praise 00:41:19.04\00:41:22.78 the Lord. Look, this is the Holy Spirit led in this. 00:41:22.78\00:41:25.45 I told this person and this is what I believe you need. 00:41:25.45\00:41:28.62 Yes, you're right. He says. And then it was after that, 00:41:28.62\00:41:31.09 the psalm 46 came to mind. And I said, well, this is the 00:41:31.09\00:41:34.09 some that I originally wanted to talk to you. But the Holy 00:41:34.09\00:41:36.29 Spirit wanted to share this with this. We need to get we to 00:41:36.29\00:41:38.79 understand that the holy spirit gets involved in our lives and 00:41:38.79\00:41:41.93 in our prayers. Some 46, some 6 burst. 9 00:41:41.93\00:41:46.90 notice here. The expression that David saying that this is 00:41:46.90\00:41:51.37 a prayer. The Lord hath heard my supplication. The Lord will 00:41:51.37\00:41:55.21 receive my prayer and the Lord will receive your prayer. 00:41:55.21\00:41:59.61 Some 17 1 00:41:59.61\00:42:01.38 here. The right. Oh, lord attendant who might cry give 00:42:01.38\00:42:05.22 ear unto my prayer. 00:42:05.22\00:42:07.49 Some 39 12. Hear my prayer o lord and give ear onto my cry. 00:42:07.49\00:42:14.63 Some 54 00:42:14.63\00:42:16.30 first to hear my prayer o God give easier to the words of my 00:42:16.30\00:42:20.70 mouth. This sent to me Lord David is pouring out his heart. 00:42:20.70\00:42:25.47 Some 55 verse one, give ear to my prayer. God and I did not 00:42:25.47\00:42:30.88 die sell for my supplication. You see over and over again. 00:42:30.88\00:42:33.65 Many songs are really prayers. And this is something that I 00:42:33.65\00:42:37.89 want to encourage you to do. You don't know what you should 00:42:37.89\00:42:40.36 pray for, you know, the holy spirit that we don't even know 00:42:40.36\00:42:42.56 what we should pray for us. We as we we should. So if you 00:42:42.56\00:42:45.96 don't know what to see in your prayers, I encourage you to 00:42:45.96\00:42:48.66 look into the songs. We begin to write them down and see how 00:42:48.66\00:42:52.00 David is expressing himself. And you may say, well, I 00:42:52.00\00:42:55.74 identify with that. 00:42:55.74\00:42:57.41 I think how pretty that and you can pray this back to the Lord 00:42:57.41\00:43:01.24 just as David was doing, but apply to your situation. 00:43:01.24\00:43:04.48 Your experience 00:43:04.48\00:43:07.12 from the lesson we have these words, the Saugus 00:43:07.12\00:43:10.42 address got personally personally as my God. Oh, 00:43:10.42\00:43:16.19 Lord and Mike King Psalm 5 to Psalm. 84 3 are examples. 00:43:16.19\00:43:22.03 The psalmist often implore got to get year. 00:43:22.03\00:43:26.27 Some 5, 1, is an example. Hear my prayer. Some 39 12. 00:43:26.27\00:43:30.34 Also they say, look, law, you look at my situation, look at 00:43:30.34\00:43:33.98 what I'm going through 00:43:33.98\00:43:35.11 some 25 18. And then of course, there is the answer may be 00:43:35.11\00:43:39.45 hard. Answer me Psalm 102 verse 2 and the liver me Psalm 6, 00:43:39.45\00:43:45.12 4, And the lesson says these are clearly the expressions of 00:43:45.12\00:43:49.52 someone praying to God 00:43:49.52\00:43:52.66 who does not want their prayers to be. And so when they go 00:43:52.66\00:43:55.36 before the Lord, this is your your your desire. You eagerly 00:43:55.36\00:43:59.53 want to see the Lord work out a miracle in your life. 00:43:59.53\00:44:04.41 The lesson brings out the Jesus to quoted from the songs such 00:44:04.41\00:44:07.84 as in Luke Chapter 20 verse. 42 43 00:44:07.84\00:44:11.41 and this is when he quoted directly from Psalms 110 verse 00:44:11.41\00:44:15.02 one. I look now at live 20 verse. 42 43, this is Jesus 00:44:15.02\00:44:20.46 speaking. He says now they've it himself. Said in the book of 00:44:20.46\00:44:24.43 Psalms, the Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand till 00:44:24.43\00:44:29.70 I make your enemy is your foot stool. 00:44:29.70\00:44:32.40 Therefore, David, causing Lord, how is he then his son? So you 00:44:32.40\00:44:36.81 see this quoting of some 110 verse one, you can look that up 00:44:36.81\00:44:43.41 at another time. 00:44:43.41\00:44:44.98 But you will notice also that the psalms also expressed that 00:44:44.98\00:44:50.35 feelings of Jesus is such a psalm. 22 verse one, my God, 00:44:50.35\00:44:57.06 Oh, my God. Why hast thou forsaken me? 00:44:57.06\00:45:00.50 Why are they so far from helping me? And from the words 00:45:00.50\00:45:04.47 of my rolling 00:45:04.47\00:45:05.90 and is it is as if David was given a preview of what Jesus 00:45:05.90\00:45:11.27 was going to go through and is to is that 00:45:11.27\00:45:13.84 these can be said that it was not David saying these things. 00:45:13.84\00:45:17.18 It was Jesus 00:45:17.18\00:45:18.78 through the Holy Spirit in pressing David to write these 00:45:18.78\00:45:22.38 things. Remember 00:45:22.38\00:45:23.65 these things I have said unto you that when they come to 00:45:23.65\00:45:26.45 pass, you may believe so. As Jesus said, these things 00:45:26.45\00:45:30.29 they remembered. Hey, this is written in the scriptures, 00:45:30.29\00:45:33.46 some 69% in 9. But the entire 00:50:57.69\00:51:02.39 community slide that church where that to us today, right? 00:51:02.39\00:51:09.26 3 verse 4, 00:51:09.26\00:51:12.40 the song most Christ out because he knows everything 00:51:12.40\00:51:16.50 that happens.
