" 00:03:05.48\00:03:09.92 On that note, let's have a prayer 00:03:09.95\00:03:12.02 and Pastor Terry, would you have a prayer for us? 00:03:12.05\00:03:14.06 Terry: Sure... "Father in heaven, 00:03:14.09\00:03:15.82 we just thank You for the opportunity 00:03:15.86\00:03:17.76 to break open Your Word and to let it minister to us. 00:03:17.79\00:03:22.63 We pray for those who are listening today 00:03:22.66\00:03:24.93 that Your Holy Spirit will speak to each one 00:03:24.97\00:03:27.74 and we pray Father that as we discuss Your Word 00:03:27.77\00:03:30.51 and the days of Noah, 00:03:30.54\00:03:32.57 that You will enlighten our minds and our hearts. 00:03:32.61\00:03:35.18 Help us to receive Your Word with thanksgiving in our hearts. 00:03:35.21\00:03:39.58 Bless our time together, in Jesus' name, amen. " 00:03:39.61\00:03:42.18 Panel: Amen... amen... 00:03:42.22\00:03:43.55 Ryan: Praise the Lord. 00:03:43.59\00:03:44.92 You know, I really, really enjoyed the Sabbath afternoon 00:03:44.95\00:03:47.19 as well as Sunday's lesson... my portion of this week's study. 00:03:47.26\00:03:50.23 Just because... and I'm sure you guys obviously did as well 00:03:50.26\00:03:52.83 because, you know, it's one thing to be able to go back 00:03:52.89\00:03:55.43 and study the history and the wonderful lessons 00:03:55.46\00:03:58.07 pertaining to those great historical stories 00:03:58.10\00:04:00.44 of your Genesis and of Scripture that happened 00:04:00.47\00:04:02.77 you know, 1,000s of years ago, 00:04:02.80\00:04:04.24 you can't make a modern-day application to it... 00:04:04.27\00:04:07.71 something that we can glean from it and learn for our time 00:04:07.74\00:04:10.55 then, it's really of no avail at all 00:04:10.61\00:04:11.95 and so, at this point I just... 00:04:11.98\00:04:13.31 I just... I want to go back to our Memory Text 00:04:13.35\00:04:15.82 and I want to continue reading 00:04:15.88\00:04:17.35 so, we're going to read verse 37 again 00:04:17.39\00:04:18.95 but I want to continue reading a little bit past it 00:04:19.02\00:04:21.46 to take in the fullness of this message 00:04:21.49\00:04:23.19 and then we're going to make some points... 00:04:23.22\00:04:24.89 I may not get into all... 00:04:24.93\00:04:26.26 I may not be able to finish this study 00:04:26.29\00:04:27.63 because I had so many notes on this, 00:04:27.66\00:04:29.00 but we're going to try our best so, Matthew chapter 24 00:04:29.03\00:04:31.60 we're going to start with verse 37 again, 00:04:31.63\00:04:33.54 notice what the Bible says, 00:04:33.57\00:04:34.90 it says, "But as the days Noah were, 00:04:34.94\00:04:36.60 so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 00:04:36.64\00:04:39.21 For as in the days before the flood, 00:04:39.24\00:04:41.54 they were eating and drinking, 00:04:41.58\00:04:43.48 marrying and giving in marriage, 00:04:43.55\00:04:45.35 until the day that Noah entered the ark, 00:04:45.38\00:04:47.65 and did not know until the flood came 00:04:47.68\00:04:49.95 and took them all away, 00:04:49.98\00:04:52.62 so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. " 00:04:52.65\00:04:56.09 I love this because Jesus is talking about the end times. 00:04:56.12\00:04:58.93 He's talking about our time 00:04:58.96\00:05:00.30 and He says, "If you want to know how it's going to be... 00:05:00.33\00:05:02.83 if you want a glimpse as to what it's going to be like 00:05:02.86\00:05:05.43 in those closing moments surrounding... 00:05:05.47\00:05:07.87 the events surrounding the second coming of Christ, 00:05:07.90\00:05:10.04 those last moments... 00:05:10.07\00:05:11.41 then go back and... and re-study... 00:05:11.44\00:05:13.34 re-introduce yourself and familiarize yourself 00:05:13.38\00:05:16.21 with what's happening in the days of Noah 00:05:16.24\00:05:18.25 when the flood came 00:05:18.28\00:05:19.65 and it's interesting here that He says... you know, 00:05:19.68\00:05:21.58 He mentions that they were eating and drinking... 00:05:21.62\00:05:23.49 they were marrying and giving in marriage 00:05:23.52\00:05:25.35 and, you know, a lot of people have read those texts and say, 00:05:25.39\00:05:27.59 "Oh, He's just describing... 00:05:27.62\00:05:28.96 you know, life's just going on as normal 00:05:28.99\00:05:30.89 and then... boom... you know, the flood came... 00:05:30.93\00:05:33.43 also the second coming... " 00:05:33.46\00:05:34.80 and they equate those in that way. 00:05:34.83\00:05:36.43 But I think that there's a little bit more 00:05:36.46\00:05:38.33 of a deeper message that we need to glean from this 00:05:38.37\00:05:40.44 as we look back at the story of Noah... 00:05:40.47\00:05:42.17 the last week's lesson... 00:05:42.20\00:05:43.67 we were able to take a little bit away 00:05:43.71\00:05:45.87 from the beginning verses of Genesis 6, 00:05:45.91\00:05:48.04 we're going to go back there now 00:05:48.08\00:05:49.54 and just re-familiarize ourselves with those texts 00:05:49.58\00:05:51.21 and what it says. 00:05:51.25\00:05:52.58 But first, I want to just highlight here... 00:05:52.61\00:05:54.65 when He says, "They were eating and drinking" 00:05:54.68\00:05:56.75 what is He talking about here? 00:05:56.79\00:05:58.12 Now, I did a word search and it led me to Luke chapter 5, 00:05:58.15\00:06:00.89 now, notice what we find in Luke chapter 5 00:06:00.92\00:06:03.09 verses 33 to 35, 00:06:03.12\00:06:05.03 Jesus has an encounter with the Pharisees. 00:06:05.06\00:06:06.86 The Pharisees are griping and complaining that Jesus... 00:06:06.90\00:06:09.06 because they're basically trying to discredit Him. 00:06:09.10\00:06:11.20 They've heard that He's the coming Messiah... 00:06:11.23\00:06:13.17 He's supposed to be the Great Anointed One 00:06:13.20\00:06:15.07 and so, they're trying to catch Him in His words... 00:06:15.10\00:06:17.34 they're trying to discredit Him 00:06:17.37\00:06:18.71 and so, they said to Him... this is verse 33 of Luke 5, 00:06:18.74\00:06:21.34 speaking of the Pharisees, "They said to Him, 00:06:21.38\00:06:22.81 'Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, 00:06:22.84\00:06:26.05 and likewise those of the Pharisees, 00:06:26.08\00:06:27.95 but Yours... '" notice the words here... 00:06:27.98\00:06:29.98 "eat and drink?" Okay, 00:06:30.02\00:06:31.75 "And He said to them, 00:06:31.79\00:06:33.42 'Can you make the friends... '" this is Jesus speaking now, 00:06:33.46\00:06:35.66 "Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast 00:06:35.69\00:06:37.66 while the bridegroom is with them? 00:06:37.69\00:06:39.59 But the days will come 00:06:39.66\00:06:41.20 when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; 00:06:41.26\00:06:43.70 then they will fast in those days. " 00:06:43.73\00:06:45.73 It's interesting when you do a word search and a deeper study 00:06:45.80\00:06:48.27 on this concept of eating and drinking 00:06:48.30\00:06:50.14 and then, also, when you get into the Spirit of Prophecy, 00:06:50.17\00:06:52.74 she really amplifies that this "eating and drinking" concept 00:06:52.77\00:06:55.28 was not just the fact that their life is just going on as normal, 00:06:55.31\00:06:57.71 but the fact that there was an overindulgence... 00:06:57.78\00:07:00.32 there wasn't a lack of self-control 00:07:00.35\00:07:01.88 that people are not just eating and drinking 00:07:01.92\00:07:04.02 but they're overdoing it... 00:07:04.09\00:07:05.55 they're living carelessly as if there is no God 00:07:05.59\00:07:08.22 and she goes on to say this 00:07:08.26\00:07:09.72 pertaining to the eating and drinking 00:07:09.76\00:07:11.59 and also the marrying and giving in marriage. 00:07:11.63\00:07:13.36 This comes from Patriarchs and Prophets, 00:07:13.40\00:07:14.73 pages 101-102, notice what she says here, 00:07:14.76\00:07:16.87 "The sins that called for vengeance 00:07:16.90\00:07:18.93 upon the antediluvian world exist today. 00:07:18.97\00:07:21.50 The fear of God is banished from the hearts of men, 00:07:21.54\00:07:24.07 and His law is treated with indifference and contempt. 00:07:24.11\00:07:26.57 The intense worldliness of that generation 00:07:26.61\00:07:29.31 is equaled by that of the generation now living. " 00:07:29.34\00:07:31.81 Now, here's where the eating and drinking comes in. 00:07:31.85\00:07:34.38 She says, "God did not condemn and antediluvians 00:07:34.42\00:07:36.89 for eating and drinking... 00:07:36.92\00:07:38.25 their sin consisted in taking these gifts 00:07:38.29\00:07:41.59 without gratitude to the Giver, 00:07:41.62\00:07:44.36 and debasing themselves in indulging appetite 00:07:44.39\00:07:47.60 without restraint. " 00:07:47.63\00:07:48.96 Okay... so going overboard... 00:07:49.00\00:07:50.33 "It was lawful for them to marry. " 00:07:50.37\00:07:52.47 Notice, God didn't condemn the marriage, right? 00:07:52.50\00:07:54.14 because He established it. 00:07:54.17\00:07:55.67 "Marriage was in God's order; 00:07:55.70\00:07:57.17 it was one of the first institutions 00:07:57.21\00:07:59.27 which He established. 00:07:59.31\00:08:00.64 He gave special directions concerning this ordinance, 00:08:00.68\00:08:03.11 clothing it with sanctity and beauty; 00:08:03.14\00:08:05.58 but these directions were forgotten, 00:08:05.61\00:08:08.15 and marriage was perverted and made to minister to 00:08:08.18\00:08:10.99 the passions. " 00:08:11.02\00:08:12.35 Okay, so to their passions. 00:08:12.39\00:08:14.06 They... they overdid it... they went beyond the guidelines 00:08:14.09\00:08:15.56 and the Institution 00:08:15.59\00:08:17.03 and the original design that God had set in place. 00:08:17.09\00:08:19.46 So now, when you take that counsel 00:08:19.49\00:08:21.40 and you apply it to the days of Noah 00:08:21.43\00:08:23.30 and also to the last days, 00:08:23.33\00:08:24.67 you get to see that the eating and the drinking... 00:08:24.70\00:08:26.70 the marrying and giving in marriage 00:08:26.74\00:08:28.07 in the days of Noah, 00:08:28.10\00:08:29.44 this was the great... 00:08:29.47\00:08:30.81 this was a part of the great evil. 00:08:30.84\00:08:32.17 They had forsaken God's counsel completely. 00:08:32.21\00:08:34.54 They had forsaken the righteousness of God 00:08:34.58\00:08:37.18 and His Word completely. 00:08:37.21\00:08:38.58 They had basically created such a spiritual callous on their ear 00:08:38.61\00:08:42.15 to not hearing the Spirit of the Lord 00:08:42.18\00:08:44.25 that they basically fell as the Bible... 00:08:44.29\00:08:46.25 we're going to read here in Genesis chapter 6, 00:08:46.29\00:08:47.72 let's go there... Genesis chapter 6 00:08:47.76\00:08:49.36 verses 1 through 8, 00:08:49.39\00:08:50.73 we're going to read here that the thoughts of their heart 00:08:50.76\00:08:52.73 were evil continually the Bible says. 00:08:52.76\00:08:54.70 So, here's what it says, 00:08:54.73\00:08:56.06 beginning in verse 1, Genesis 6 verses 1 through 8, 00:08:56.10\00:08:58.80 it says, "Now it came to pass, 00:08:58.83\00:09:00.17 when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, 00:09:00.20\00:09:02.67 and daughters were born unto them, 00:09:02.70\00:09:04.04 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, 00:09:04.07\00:09:06.41 that they were beautiful; and they... " notice... 00:09:06.44\00:09:08.34 "they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 00:09:08.41\00:09:10.98 And the Lord said, 00:09:11.01\00:09:12.51 'My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, 00:09:12.58\00:09:14.42 for he is indeed flesh; but... " notice it says, 00:09:14.45\00:09:17.45 "yet his days shall one hundred and twenty years. 00:09:17.49\00:09:20.46 There were giants on the earth in those days, 00:09:20.49\00:09:22.12 and also afterward, 00:09:22.16\00:09:23.49 when the sons of God came to the daughters of men" 00:09:23.53\00:09:26.09 okay... "and they bore children to them. 00:09:26.13\00:09:28.36 Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. " 00:09:28.43\00:09:31.37 And then verse 5, 00:09:31.40\00:09:32.73 "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man 00:09:32.77\00:09:34.60 was great in the earth, 00:09:34.64\00:09:35.97 and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart... " 00:09:36.00\00:09:38.31 there it is... "was only evil continually. 00:09:38.34\00:09:41.34 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, 00:09:41.38\00:09:44.51 and He was grieved in His heart. 00:09:44.55\00:09:46.55 So the Lord said, 00:09:46.61\00:09:47.95 'I will destroy man whom I have created 00:09:47.98\00:09:49.32 from the face of the earth, 00:09:49.35\00:09:50.69 both man and beast, creeping thing 00:09:50.72\00:09:52.05 and birds of the air, 00:09:52.09\00:09:53.42 for I am sorry that I have made man. '" 00:09:53.46\00:09:54.96 And then, notice verse 8 here, 00:09:55.02\00:09:56.36 "But... " I love this... 00:09:56.39\00:09:58.53 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. " 00:09:58.56\00:10:01.56 We're going to come back to that briefly in just a moment 00:10:01.60\00:10:04.13 but I want to just highlight basically from last week... 00:10:04.17\00:10:06.50 we had a brief moment to just touch on that. 00:10:06.53\00:10:08.07 I just too quickly reiterate the fact 00:10:08.10\00:10:09.47 that, of course, what we're seeing here... 00:10:09.50\00:10:10.84 this... this... this divide... 00:10:10.87\00:10:12.27 this differentiation between the sons of God 00:10:12.31\00:10:14.28 and the daughters of man here. 00:10:14.31\00:10:16.48 This is important to highlight, we see very, very clearly, 00:10:16.51\00:10:19.55 let me get to my notes here, 00:10:19.58\00:10:20.92 we see very clearly that there's a divide on this 00:10:20.95\00:10:23.39 where we have basically going back to Genesis 3:15, 00:10:23.42\00:10:25.85 you have to look at the previous immediate context 00:10:25.89\00:10:28.26 of chapters 3, 4 and 5. 00:10:28.29\00:10:29.82 That's why the genealogies are there... 00:10:29.86\00:10:31.66 the lineage of Seth... the lineage of Cain... 00:10:31.69\00:10:33.50 it culminates to this "sons of God 00:10:33.53\00:10:35.56 and the daughters of men" that we see here in Genesis... 00:10:35.63\00:10:37.80 the beginning verses of Genesis 6 00:10:37.83\00:10:39.33 and so, Genesis 3:15, 00:10:39.37\00:10:41.10 "I will put enmity between the woman and her Seed 00:10:41.17\00:10:44.24 and your seed... " speaking to the serpent, 00:10:44.31\00:10:45.84 we have the spiritual Seed of God 00:10:45.87\00:10:47.48 and the evil seed of the serpent... 00:10:47.51\00:10:49.51 we see that through Cain and Abel... 00:10:49.54\00:10:51.48 we see this played out obviously in the lineage of... of Seth... 00:10:51.51\00:10:55.38 excuse me... the lineage of Cain 00:10:55.42\00:10:57.32 with the daughters who again portrayed the evil acts 00:10:57.35\00:11:01.32 of the devil... the spirit of the devil 00:11:01.36\00:11:03.12 and then, by the time we get to Genesis chapter 6, 00:11:03.16\00:11:05.39 this daughters... 00:11:05.43\00:11:06.76 the sons of God and the daughters of man... 00:11:06.80\00:11:09.36 we're talking about the spiritual versus the carnal. 00:11:09.43\00:11:12.07 We're not talking about, you know, 00:11:12.10\00:11:13.84 you know, angels coming and reproducing with... 00:11:13.87\00:11:16.84 with, you know, fallen angels reproducing with humans... 00:11:16.87\00:11:19.21 it's amazing that people come to that concept 00:11:19.24\00:11:20.98 or to that conclusion because as we read last week, 00:11:21.01\00:11:24.31 Romans chapter 8 verse 14, it gives us clear indication 00:11:24.35\00:11:27.35 that we know these were not fallen angels that came down, 00:11:27.38\00:11:30.35 right, these sons of God were not fallen angels, 00:11:30.39\00:11:32.09 these were human beings that were... 00:11:32.12\00:11:34.42 these were God's people, these were the righteous 00:11:34.46\00:11:36.26 that went out and amalgamated themselves 00:11:36.29\00:11:38.46 with the carnal, evil heathens of the world, 00:11:38.49\00:11:40.60 and we see this right here in Romans 8:14 it says, 00:11:40.63\00:11:42.96 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, 00:11:43.00\00:11:45.60 these are the sons of God. " 00:11:45.63\00:11:46.97 So, that's a one clear indication 00:11:47.04\00:11:48.37 that these were not fallen angels 00:11:48.40\00:11:49.77 and I just wanted to just kind of get rid of that 00:11:49.80\00:11:51.81 whole Nephilim idea that, you know, 00:11:51.84\00:11:54.01 that somehow that giants came about 00:11:54.04\00:11:56.11 because of the amalgamation of fallen angels and human beings. 00:11:56.14\00:11:58.78 But when you get into Sunday's lesson, 00:11:58.81\00:12:00.65 powerful... and I just want to make this point very clearly, 00:12:00.68\00:12:02.55 when you get into Sunday's lesson, 00:12:02.58\00:12:04.85 Genesis chapter 6 verses 13 to 21, 00:12:04.89\00:12:07.06 they emphasize the fact that this is God's ark instructions. 00:12:07.09\00:12:10.43 So, coming out of those verses we just read earlier 00:12:10.46\00:12:12.89 through verse 8, 00:12:12.96\00:12:14.30 God is now going to act on it, 00:12:14.33\00:12:15.66 He goes to Moses and He says, "Hey, you're my man... " 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.27 again the Bible says, 00:12:17.30\00:12:19.23 "Noah found grace in the eyes of God. " 00:12:19.27\00:12:20.87 Noah was the only righteous man that's why God says, 00:12:20.90\00:12:23.14 "You're the only one I can depend on. 00:12:23.17\00:12:24.77 At this point, will you obey My voice and build an ark 00:12:24.81\00:12:27.18 because I'm going to send a flood. " 00:12:27.21\00:12:29.21 And so, we see there in verses 13 to 21, 00:12:29.24\00:12:31.25 you can go read that for yourself, 00:12:31.28\00:12:33.05 where God gives very intricate details 00:12:33.11\00:12:34.78 pertaining to how He wants that ark being built. 00:12:34.85\00:12:37.19 But again, it's interesting because again we read in verse 8 00:12:37.22\00:12:40.42 that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord 00:12:40.46\00:12:41.86 and the question is, 00:12:41.89\00:12:43.22 "Why did Noah find grace in the eyes of the Lord?" 00:12:43.26\00:12:45.33 Many people again... just back to this whole works versus, 00:12:45.36\00:12:48.26 versus grace concept... 00:12:48.30\00:12:49.96 many people saved... saved by grace through faith... 00:12:50.03\00:12:52.83 that is true, okay, Romans clearly teaches that... 00:12:52.87\00:12:55.64 or... excuse me... Ephesians chapter 2 clearly teaches that, 00:12:55.67\00:12:58.01 that we are saved by grace through faith 00:12:58.04\00:12:59.97 but we have to put it in proper perspective 00:13:00.01\00:13:02.44 that we are saved by grace through faith 00:13:02.48\00:13:04.85 because like Noah... notice verse 22 of Genesis 6, 00:13:04.88\00:13:07.88 verse 22... this is the last verse here, it says, 00:13:07.92\00:13:10.92 "Thus Noah... " why did he find grace? 00:13:10.95\00:13:12.99 "because Noah did according to all that God commanded him, 00:13:13.02\00:13:16.99 so he did. " 00:13:17.03\00:13:18.83 And, you know, the lesson goes on to bring out the fact 00:13:18.89\00:13:21.60 that you could actually go on and find... 00:13:21.63\00:13:23.37 even in the original language 00:13:23.40\00:13:24.80 comparisons and clear connections 00:13:24.83\00:13:26.40 between the redemptive plan that God put in place 00:13:26.43\00:13:29.24 for the ark in Noah's day 00:13:29.30\00:13:31.17 but like the ark in Noah's day, 00:13:31.21\00:13:33.17 God also put a redemptive plan in place 00:13:33.21\00:13:35.74 starting with the time of Moses and onward 00:13:35.78\00:13:38.28 through this other ark... 00:13:38.31\00:13:40.12 we call it the Ark of the Covenant 00:13:40.15\00:13:42.32 and while we know that that Ark and the contents 00:13:42.35\00:13:44.32 in and of itself doesn't save us, 00:13:44.35\00:13:45.82 we see the redemptive plan put in place 00:13:45.85\00:13:48.76 and is inclusive of that... 00:13:48.79\00:13:50.26 it's inclusive of the law of God and the Ten Commandments. 00:13:50.29\00:13:53.13 Pray for that clock... 00:13:53.19\00:13:54.70 I don't have enough time to talk about all this. 00:13:54.73\00:13:56.06 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:13:56.10\00:13:57.43 Ryan: We have to understand... 00:13:57.47\00:13:58.80 I'm going to say this in closing really quickly, 00:13:58.83\00:14:00.17 Romans chapter 5... excuse me, Romans chapter 1 verse 5, 00:14:00.20\00:14:02.34 "Through Him we have received grace... " 00:14:02.37\00:14:05.01 Noah found grace... 00:14:05.04\00:14:06.37 "Through Him we have received grace and apostleship 00:14:06.41\00:14:09.14 for obedience 00:14:09.18\00:14:10.75 to the faith among all nations for His name's sake... " 00:14:10.78\00:14:14.42 and Hebrews 11:7, 00:14:14.45\00:14:15.78 "By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things yet not seen, 00:14:15.82\00:14:19.39 moved with godly fear, 00:14:19.42\00:14:20.89 prepared an ark for the saving of his household, 00:14:20.92\00:14:23.22 by which he condemned the world 00:14:23.26\00:14:24.73 and became heir of the righteousness 00:14:24.76\00:14:26.53 which is according to faith. " 00:14:26.56\00:14:28.73 Panel: Amen... thank you so much Ryan, 00:14:28.76\00:14:31.07 we're having church... I love that... 00:14:31.10\00:14:33.40 I love your enthusiasm 00:14:33.44\00:14:34.77 and the practical application for today... 00:14:34.80\00:14:36.97 that's really powerful in these last days. 00:14:37.01\00:14:39.14 I have Monday... my name is Jill Morikone 00:14:39.17\00:14:41.71 and I have Monday: The Event of the Flood. 00:14:41.74\00:14:44.01 So, we're going to look at Genesis chapter 7, 00:14:44.05\00:14:46.25 Ryan was in Genesis 6... 00:14:46.28\00:14:48.08 just jump over to Genesis 7 00:14:48.12\00:14:49.85 and we're going to pick up the first 20 verses or so. 00:14:49.88\00:14:52.55 Really, the parallel that the lesson brought out 00:14:52.59\00:14:55.89 that we're going to talk about today 00:14:55.92\00:14:57.43 is the parallel between Creation and the Flood. 00:14:57.46\00:15:00.23 Now, you might say, 00:15:00.26\00:15:01.66 "What in the world is a parallel between those?" 00:15:01.70\00:15:03.77 But we will discover that 00:15:03.80\00:15:05.13 but first, let's just look at the event of the flood. 00:15:05.17\00:15:07.17 We see in verse 1 that Noah entered the ark 00:15:07.20\00:15:11.51 in simple faith and obedience to God's command. 00:15:11.54\00:15:15.84 I love what Ryan brought out, 00:15:15.88\00:15:17.25 there was the faith... we see that. 00:15:17.28\00:15:19.38 He... Noah had never seen rain fall, 00:15:19.41\00:15:21.32 he had never seen a flood, 00:15:21.35\00:15:22.68 he had never seen that and yet, by faith he built the ark 00:15:22.72\00:15:26.35 but by faith, he also acted on that faith 00:15:26.39\00:15:29.86 and worked out that obedience 00:15:29.89\00:15:31.76 so, by faith and obedience, he entered the ark. 00:15:31.79\00:15:34.53 Genesis 7:1, "The Lord said to Noah, 00:15:34.56\00:15:36.30 'Come into the ark, you and all your household, 00:15:36.33\00:15:39.57 because I have seen that you are righteous before Me 00:15:39.60\00:15:42.60 in this generation. '" 00:15:42.64\00:15:44.34 And we know that Noah acted in obedience 00:15:44.37\00:15:47.18 and he stepped into the ark. 00:15:47.21\00:15:49.18 We see that the animals entered into the ark 00:15:49.21\00:15:51.48 without any herding by Noah. 00:15:51.51\00:15:53.35 There weren't any little dogs trying to, like, herd them in. 00:15:53.42\00:15:56.58 There weren't any people on horses 00:15:56.62\00:15:58.35 trying to get the animals in, right? 00:15:58.39\00:16:00.02 They entered the ark by divine unction, you can say, 00:16:00.06\00:16:04.09 by the angels bringing them into the ark. 00:16:04.13\00:16:07.10 They went in two by two... male and female 00:16:07.13\00:16:09.73 and it's very interesting if you read it... 00:16:09.76\00:16:12.37 we won't read it but if you read it, 00:16:12.40\00:16:14.30 there were seven of each clean animal 00:16:14.34\00:16:16.17 and two of the unclean animals. 00:16:16.20\00:16:20.04 Now, many people say, "Well, the clean and unclean... 00:16:20.08\00:16:22.11 that's Levitical Laws 00:16:22.14\00:16:23.48 and that came during the time of the Israelites 00:16:23.51\00:16:25.81 but actually, we see it during the time of Noah. 00:16:25.85\00:16:28.68 This is long before the covenant there at Sinai. 00:16:28.72\00:16:31.89 Point Number 3: Noah and the family and the animals 00:16:31.92\00:16:35.09 were shut in the ark by God Himself. 00:16:35.12\00:16:38.39 We're in Genesis 7 verses 15 and 16, 00:16:38.43\00:16:41.66 jump down to verses 15 and 16, 00:16:41.70\00:16:43.67 "And they went into the ark, two by two... " 00:16:43.70\00:16:46.17 this is the animals... 00:16:46.20\00:16:47.90 of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 00:16:47.94\00:16:49.90 Verse 16, "So those that entered, 00:16:49.94\00:16:52.17 male and female of all flesh, 00:16:52.24\00:16:54.01 went in as God had commanded him; 00:16:54.04\00:16:56.31 and the Lord shut him in. " 00:16:56.34\00:17:00.25 I love that... 00:17:00.28\00:17:01.62 Then, we see the rain come and the flood. 00:17:01.65\00:17:03.49 Now remember, rain had never happened before. 00:17:03.52\00:17:05.82 What does the Bible say in Genesis 2 verse 6 00:17:05.85\00:17:08.12 that the mist went up from the earth 00:17:08.16\00:17:10.56 and watered the face of the whole earth. 00:17:10.59\00:17:12.93 They had never seen rain before 00:17:12.99\00:17:15.70 and yet, we see rain from above and the fountains of the deep 00:17:15.73\00:17:20.50 being broken up. 00:17:20.54\00:17:22.44 That's in Genesis 7:11 and 12. 00:17:22.47\00:17:25.04 Verses 11 and 12, 00:17:25.07\00:17:26.88 In the 600th year of Noah's life. 00:17:26.94\00:17:30.61 in the second month, 00:17:30.65\00:17:31.98 the seventeenth day of the month, 00:17:32.01\00:17:33.95 on that day all the fountains of the deep were broken up, 00:17:34.02\00:17:37.85 and the windows of heaven were opened. 00:17:37.92\00:17:40.09 And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. " 00:17:40.12\00:17:44.36 And we can spend a long time just in the discussion 00:17:44.39\00:17:47.00 of the chronology of this... which we won't 00:17:47.06\00:17:48.90 but it is very interesting to me that our God is a God 00:17:48.93\00:17:51.53 who majors in the details. 00:17:51.57\00:17:53.47 He's a specific God 00:17:53.50\00:17:55.40 and if you look at the specific pattern of this, 00:17:55.44\00:17:58.34 we see a certain number of days which we'll discuss 00:17:58.37\00:18:01.24 and the central hub is Genesis 8 verse 1. 00:18:01.28\00:18:05.21 God remembered Noah... 00:18:05.25\00:18:07.85 then we see the same pattern of time going back 00:18:07.88\00:18:12.12 so, if you follow it, 00:18:12.15\00:18:13.56 there is seven days of waiting for the flood, 00:18:13.59\00:18:15.29 seven... no... seven days of waiting for the rain... 00:18:15.32\00:18:18.49 seven days of waiting for the flood... 00:18:18.53\00:18:20.96 forty days of the flood... 00:18:21.03\00:18:22.83 a 150 days for the waters to rise... 00:18:22.86\00:18:25.30 then we come to the center point... 00:18:25.33\00:18:27.74 God remembers Noah... that is Genesis 8 verse 1. 00:18:27.77\00:18:32.84 Then we come back a 150 days of the waters decreasing, 00:18:32.87\00:18:36.44 40 days waiting for the dry land to appear... 00:18:36.48\00:18:39.35 seven days waiting for the first bird to be sent out 00:18:39.41\00:18:42.55 and then, seven days for the second bird to be sent out. 00:18:42.58\00:18:45.69 Do you see there's seven and seven 00:18:45.72\00:18:47.06 40... a 150... and then God remembers Noah 00:18:47.09\00:18:51.36 and then we go backwards... a 150... 40... 7 and 7. 00:18:51.39\00:18:55.26 Our God is an amazing God of details. 00:18:55.33\00:18:59.00 Now, let's look at that parallel between creation and the flood 00:18:59.03\00:19:02.80 and you might say, "What in the world is a parallel 00:19:02.84\00:19:04.67 between creation and the flood?" 00:19:04.71\00:19:07.08 The God of creation is also the God of destruction. 00:19:07.11\00:19:12.68 Panel: Hmmm... ah... ha... 00:19:12.71\00:19:14.22 Jill: Now, that's kind of heavy, this is Parallel Number 1. 00:19:14.25\00:19:16.75 The God of creation is also the God of destruction 00:19:16.79\00:19:21.62 or we could say: the God of judgment. 00:19:21.66\00:19:24.53 Panel: That's right... yeah. 00:19:24.56\00:19:25.89 Jill: Now, we know John 10:10... 00:19:25.93\00:19:27.26 Satan came to steal, kill and destroy 00:19:27.30\00:19:29.40 but Jesus came that we would have life 00:19:29.46\00:19:31.67 and have it more abundantly. 00:19:31.70\00:19:33.77 So, I want to be clear that sin is the cause of suffering. 00:19:33.80\00:19:37.44 Sin... Satan is the cause of pain, death and destruction. 00:19:37.51\00:19:41.11 It's the consequences of sin 00:19:41.14\00:19:44.08 that brought this destruction to the earth. 00:19:44.11\00:19:47.32 Ryan already read it in Genesis 6 verses 5 and 6 00:19:47.35\00:19:49.98 that the Lord saw that the wickedness of man 00:19:50.02\00:19:52.62 was great in the earth 00:19:52.65\00:19:54.02 and every intent of his heart was only evil continually 00:19:54.06\00:19:57.79 and the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth 00:19:57.83\00:20:01.53 and He was grieved in His heart 00:20:01.56\00:20:03.90 so, He said, "I'm going to send the flood. " 00:20:03.97\00:20:06.60 It was the consequences of sin. 00:20:06.63\00:20:08.84 We saw worked out in the Garden of Eden, 00:20:08.90\00:20:10.51 Genesis chapter 3... partaking of the forbidden fruit... 00:20:10.54\00:20:13.58 being driven from the Garden... 00:20:13.61\00:20:15.11 Genesis chapter 4... Cain murdering his own brother 00:20:15.14\00:20:19.58 and then we see down to Lamech 00:20:19.61\00:20:21.72 and we see him laughing in God's face 00:20:21.75\00:20:24.72 and the evil progressing to the point of Genesis chapter 6. 00:20:24.75\00:20:29.12 You know there's two sides... 00:20:29.16\00:20:31.63 I look at the character of God as two sides of the same coin. 00:20:31.66\00:20:34.90 It's still the same coin but it has two sides. 00:20:34.96\00:20:36.73 We have love... 00:20:36.77\00:20:38.13 we have justice... 00:20:38.17\00:20:39.57 we have mercy... 00:20:39.60\00:20:41.40 we have holiness. 00:20:41.47\00:20:43.20 If you look at Deuteronomy 32, 00:20:43.24\00:20:45.47 Deuteronomy 32, we're going to read verse 36 through 39, 00:20:45.51\00:20:49.18 Deuteronomy 32, "The Lord will judge His people" 00:20:49.21\00:20:52.61 there's that God of justice, 00:20:52.65\00:20:53.98 "And have compassion on His servants... " 00:20:54.02\00:20:56.38 there is the God of mercy. 00:20:56.42\00:20:57.79 "When He sees that their power is gone, 00:20:57.82\00:20:59.75 and there is no one remaining, bond or free. 00:20:59.82\00:21:02.12 He will say: 'Where are their gods, 00:21:02.19\00:21:03.99 the rock in which they sought refuge?'" 00:21:04.03\00:21:05.79 Jump down to verse 39, 00:21:05.83\00:21:07.16 "Now see that I, even I, am He, 00:21:07.20\00:21:09.80 there is no God besides Me... " 00:21:09.83\00:21:12.10 what's that word? 00:21:12.13\00:21:13.47 "I kill and I make alive. " 00:21:13.50\00:21:16.40 Panel: Hmmm... well... 00:21:16.44\00:21:17.91 "I wound and I heal; 00:21:17.94\00:21:20.48 there is no one who can deliver from My hand. " 00:21:20.51\00:21:25.08 So, the same God that we see in Genesis 1 and 2... 00:21:25.11\00:21:28.18 the same God who said it was good... 00:21:28.22\00:21:29.88 the same God who said, "I want you to live forever, 00:21:29.92\00:21:33.32 I want to love you. " 00:21:33.36\00:21:34.89 the same God looked at earth 00:21:34.92\00:21:37.96 and saw the mess we were in 00:21:37.99\00:21:41.00 and saw the devastation and destruction 00:21:41.03\00:21:44.67 and said, "I'm also a God of judgment 00:21:44.73\00:21:48.30 and there is a time when love must act. " 00:21:48.34\00:21:51.87 And God acted in the flood. 00:21:51.91\00:21:53.88 Parallel Number 2: 00:21:53.91\00:21:55.31 The God of creation is also the God of re-creation. 00:21:55.34\00:21:59.51 I love this, the lesson said, 00:21:59.55\00:22:01.45 "The flood was designed to be a new creation out of the waters 00:22:01.48\00:22:04.92 which leads to a new existence. 00:22:04.95\00:22:07.32 It reminds me of Hosea 6 verse 1, 00:22:07.36\00:22:09.69 "Come, and let us reason together says the Lord; 00:22:09.72\00:22:12.09 He has torn, but He will heal us; 00:22:12.13\00:22:14.56 He has stricken, but He will bind us up. " 00:22:14.60\00:22:18.67 What does God re-create? 00:22:18.70\00:22:20.04 He re-creates our hearts. 00:22:20.07\00:22:21.64 2nd Corinthians 5:17, 00:22:21.67\00:22:23.20 "If anyone is in Christ, we are a new creation. " 00:22:23.24\00:22:25.77 He re-creates in us the image of Jesus. 00:22:25.81\00:22:28.84 Genesis chapter 1, we were created in the image of God 00:22:28.88\00:22:31.51 and what happened? 00:22:31.55\00:22:32.88 He wants to re-create us in His image. 00:22:32.91\00:22:35.62 He will re-create the earth by fire at the end of time 00:22:35.65\00:22:40.02 and all this sin and sickness and suffering will be over. 00:22:40.06\00:22:44.43 Let's look at some other parallels. 00:22:44.46\00:22:46.56 The flood is a reversal of creation. 00:22:46.59\00:22:48.86 Remember the 2nd day which is air. 00:22:48.90\00:22:51.10 God divided the firmament, 00:22:51.13\00:22:53.23 remember the water beneath and the water above 00:22:53.27\00:22:56.64 and there was air in the middle. 00:22:56.67\00:22:58.71 At the flood, we see the reversal. 00:22:58.77\00:23:00.74 The water being broken up from underneath... 00:23:00.78\00:23:02.98 the water coming down from above. 00:23:03.01\00:23:05.88 The flood is a reversal of creation. 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.78 Parallel Number 4: We see the breath of life. 00:23:08.82\00:23:11.99 In creation, what did God do in Genesis 2? 00:23:12.05\00:23:15.12 He breathed into man's nostril the breath of life. 00:23:15.16\00:23:19.33 At the flood... Genesis 7:22, 00:23:19.36\00:23:22.10 "All in whose nostrils was the breath of life... 00:23:22.13\00:23:24.47 the breath of the spirit of life, 00:23:24.50\00:23:26.37 all that was on the dry land... they died. " 00:23:26.40\00:23:29.47 So, in Genesis 1 we see God breathing the breath of life... 00:23:29.50\00:23:33.64 in Genesis 7, we see the breath of life being pulled out, 00:23:33.68\00:23:37.58 you could say because they died. 00:23:37.61\00:23:39.81 We see the parallel in creation, 00:23:39.85\00:23:41.85 they were created male and female. 00:23:41.88\00:23:43.82 At the flood... male and female went into the ark 00:23:43.85\00:23:48.46 and were saved. 00:23:48.52\00:23:49.86 We see in creation that God created each 00:23:49.89\00:23:52.39 according to his kind or: after his kind. 00:23:52.43\00:23:55.10 At the flood, they went into the ark after their kind. 00:23:55.13\00:24:00.34 We see in creation that God created every creeping thing 00:24:00.37\00:24:03.94 and the beasts on the earth. 00:24:04.01\00:24:05.81 We see at the flood... they walked into the ark 00:24:05.84\00:24:09.28 every creeping thing and the beast after his kind. 00:24:09.31\00:24:12.35 So, what do we discover? 00:24:12.38\00:24:14.02 Why does all of this matter? 00:24:14.05\00:24:15.38 We discover that our God who loves us 00:24:15.42\00:24:18.55 created us in the beginning 00:24:18.59\00:24:20.12 and our God who loves us sends judgments 00:24:20.16\00:24:24.89 so that you and I can wake up 00:24:24.93\00:24:26.90 and be saved in His kingdom at last. 00:24:26.93\00:24:30.03 Panel: Amen... amen. " 00:26:02.66\00:26:06.59 23... "Every living substance was destroyed 00:26:06.63\00:26:10.40 which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, 00:26:10.43\00:26:13.64 and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; 00:26:13.67\00:26:16.34 and they were destroyed from the earth: 00:26:16.37\00:26:17.87 and Noah only remained alive, 00:26:17.91\00:26:20.28 and they that were with him in the ark. " 00:26:20.31\00:26:22.71 Notice this, "And the waters prevailed upon the earth 00:26:22.74\00:26:26.58 a hundred and fifty days... " 00:26:26.61\00:26:28.22 which has been brought out so most people understand that. 00:26:28.25\00:26:31.72 We find here "grace" for mankind had... had run out, you know, 00:26:31.75\00:26:35.16 there's... as we look that God always... 00:26:35.19\00:26:37.36 He sets boundaries up 00:26:37.39\00:26:38.96 and there comes a time that you mentioned beautifully 00:26:38.99\00:26:41.60 that God has to act 00:26:41.63\00:26:44.30 and so, we realize the ark's door was shut 00:26:44.33\00:26:47.87 we realize, a short time before the... God's visitation 00:26:47.90\00:26:51.14 and we know, seven days it was shut 00:26:51.17\00:26:52.74 before it... before it happened 00:26:52.77\00:26:54.24 and like you, everything I'm reading in these lessons, 00:26:54.28\00:26:58.61 I'm looking for parallels... 00:26:58.65\00:26:59.98 parallels of the... of the last days, 00:27:00.02\00:27:02.08 parallels of something that I can... 00:27:02.15\00:27:03.99 I can cling to and I can hold to 00:27:04.02\00:27:05.82 Isaiah 26:20 for instance, just jot it down, 00:27:05.85\00:27:08.19 if you have time, read it. 00:27:08.22\00:27:09.56 It says, "Shut thy doors about thee: 00:27:09.59\00:27:12.06 and hide thyself... " 00:27:12.09\00:27:13.43 Panel: Hmmm... 00:27:13.46\00:27:14.80 Kenny: Yes, again, you can see the parallels happening 00:27:14.83\00:27:16.36 at the... on the ark 00:27:16.40\00:27:17.90 and also, Isaiah 26:21, 00:27:17.93\00:27:19.40 says, "Behold the Lord comes out of His place 00:27:19.43\00:27:21.84 to punish the inhabitants of the earth... " 00:27:21.87\00:27:24.27 for what? "for their iniquity... " 00:27:24.31\00:27:26.04 right, sin separates us... God says He's going to come... 00:27:26.07\00:27:28.54 He's going to react to what's been taking place 00:27:28.58\00:27:31.15 in the world... in your life maybe and in my life. 00:27:31.18\00:27:33.68 I found an interesting quote to go along with these 00:27:33.72\00:27:36.08 and I always like to look at the Word of God... 00:27:36.12\00:27:38.25 what it has to say... 00:27:38.29\00:27:39.62 I love the Spirit of Prophecy... I don't hide around about that, 00:27:39.65\00:27:42.06 I like to go back to that and look at it 00:27:42.12\00:27:43.93 and make sure I'm... I'm on solid ground... 00:27:43.96\00:27:45.73 I need to be on solid ground. 00:27:45.76\00:27:47.90 and this is a... an undated... 00:27:47.93\00:27:50.00 there's no date to this manuscript here 00:27:50.07\00:27:51.40 but it's in 145... it says this, 00:27:51.43\00:27:53.40 "God gives... " and you've read this many times, 00:27:53.44\00:27:55.67 "nations a certain time of probation... " 00:27:55.70\00:27:58.21 "He sends light... " notice this how it pertains now, 00:27:58.24\00:28:01.14 "light and evidence that if received 00:28:01.18\00:28:03.98 will save them. " 00:28:04.01\00:28:05.35 Panel: Hmmm... 00:28:05.38\00:28:06.72 Kenny: Do we not, in this movement, 00:28:06.75\00:28:08.15 have a message for this time? 00:28:08.18\00:28:10.29 It's called the Three Angels' Message. 00:28:10.32\00:28:12.09 If that message is received, there's going to be salvation, 00:28:12.12\00:28:15.09 and if rejected, well, 00:28:15.12\00:28:16.46 that's the other side of the coin there, right, 00:28:16.49\00:28:18.69 they're going to be lost... "But if refused... " 00:28:18.73\00:28:20.83 Acts says... talk about the Jews refused light... 00:28:20.90\00:28:23.73 "indignation and punishment will fall upon them. " 00:28:23.77\00:28:26.57 So, I mean, that... 00:28:26.60\00:28:27.94 that's the stern reality of this thing. 00:28:27.97\00:28:30.37 Overwhelming to me... 00:28:30.41\00:28:31.87 talking about the flood, it just kind of overwhelms my mind 00:28:31.94\00:28:34.64 as we think about it, the effect of the water 00:28:34.68\00:28:37.58 destroying all living things. 00:28:37.61\00:28:39.68 In fact, the Bible talks about it... the waters increased 00:28:39.71\00:28:42.55 and then they said, it increased greatly 00:28:42.58\00:28:45.02 is what it means... 00:28:45.05\00:28:46.39 it prevailed and then it prevailed exceedingly 00:28:46.42\00:28:49.66 and so, I think it's mentioned there 00:28:49.69\00:28:51.16 it went... what, 15 cubits... 00:28:51.19\00:28:53.09 wasn't it above the highest mountain... 00:28:53.13\00:28:55.33 that's what... maybe 26 feet or so 00:28:55.36\00:28:57.43 above the highest mountains at that time. 00:28:57.47\00:28:59.67 Well, it seemed like it was a hopeless condition 00:28:59.70\00:29:02.84 and I'm glad each one is bringing out... 00:29:02.87\00:29:04.34 nothing's hopeless with God so don't forget... 00:29:04.37\00:29:05.74 no matter what situation you're in, 00:29:05.77\00:29:07.38 nothing is hopeless... hang in there... 00:29:07.41\00:29:08.74 but it seemed like it was hopeless. 00:29:08.78\00:29:10.11 Eight little souls as it were went into the ark. 00:29:10.15\00:29:13.18 The water was safety in the ark... 00:29:13.21\00:29:18.55 the water... ark rested on it was safety for those eight 00:29:18.59\00:29:21.32 but yet it did the same thing, 00:29:21.36\00:29:23.02 it destroyed the wicked. 00:29:23.06\00:29:24.39 Kind of interesting how God can use those things. 00:29:24.43\00:29:26.70 The water was to... what? 00:29:26.73\00:29:28.40 To protect one group 00:29:28.43\00:29:30.00 and then the water was to destroy the other group. 00:29:30.07\00:29:33.90 Kind of interesting, yeah. 00:29:33.94\00:29:35.27 Now, little proof of that, okay, 00:29:35.30\00:29:37.57 now, I'm not going into all this stuff... but I... 00:29:37.61\00:29:39.87 I... there's things that I have seen with my eyes, 00:29:39.91\00:29:42.11 I thought very interesting to give proof of the flood. 00:29:42.14\00:29:44.58 Now, I'm not that old... 00:29:44.61\00:29:45.95 some of you are going to say, I wasn't there 00:29:45.98\00:29:47.32 but... right... Panel: Laughter... that's right. 00:29:47.35\00:29:50.25 Kenny: I knew somebody was going to say, 00:29:50.29\00:29:51.75 "Yeah, what you think you were there?" No... 00:29:51.82\00:29:53.29 We find... that's just one thing... 00:29:53.32\00:29:54.66 Fossils... do we not? 00:29:54.69\00:29:56.02 We find fossils today 00:29:56.06\00:29:57.39 and it's of plants and of course, of... of animals 00:29:57.43\00:30:00.60 over the surface of the earth... different locations. 00:30:00.63\00:30:03.10 Some of them were three miles and more deep... 00:30:03.13\00:30:06.37 they're down there. 00:30:06.40\00:30:07.84 Most of them are half mile to a mile deep. 00:30:07.87\00:30:10.01 Ryan: Sure. 00:30:10.04\00:30:11.37 Kenny: And so, we find that something violent took place. 00:30:11.41\00:30:15.38 How else could these things be so deep into the earth 00:30:15.41\00:30:19.05 unless there was some kind of violent activity 00:30:19.08\00:30:21.65 took place at the flood... at the time of the flood. 00:30:21.68\00:30:25.22 Notice this, we have... 00:30:25.25\00:30:26.72 I think you mentioned this it's good and I love it, 00:30:26.76\00:30:28.82 we have divinity and humanity working together 00:30:28.86\00:30:32.59 as God said, "Build" right? 00:30:32.63\00:30:35.03 God said "build" and then Noah responded with the works, right? 00:30:35.06\00:30:38.73 Faith and... and works together... 00:30:38.77\00:30:40.24 now He had... He had Noah to build it, now, 00:30:40.27\00:30:42.70 let's just go back for just a couple of seconds 00:30:42.74\00:30:46.17 if you don't mind, I'll regress just a little bit here, 00:30:46.21\00:30:48.14 when you get older, you do that a lot. 00:30:48.18\00:30:49.91 I found that when I... when I got out of the service 00:30:49.94\00:30:54.28 when I was a young man, 00:30:54.32\00:30:56.05 I went to work at one of the local coal mines 00:30:56.08\00:30:58.45 and I worked there about a year and a half 00:30:58.49\00:31:00.62 and I thought how interesting is... 00:31:00.66\00:31:02.72 now the mine that I worked at 00:31:02.76\00:31:04.23 was about 1,000 feet straight down. 00:31:04.26\00:31:06.49 That's a long ways down, 00:31:06.53\00:31:08.33 right? long ways down, 1,000 feet and so... 00:31:08.36\00:31:10.97 we went nearly every day, 00:31:11.03\00:31:12.93 we'd go down there and find different things 00:31:12.97\00:31:15.17 and so on and so forth 00:31:15.20\00:31:16.54 but the average vein... I'm going to call: vein of coal 00:31:16.57\00:31:19.77 about five or six feet in Southern Illinois... one way 00:31:19.81\00:31:22.74 but once you get out of that vein, what do you have? 00:31:22.78\00:31:25.68 You have rock or shale might be at the bottom 00:31:25.71\00:31:28.02 and then you have the coal vein 00:31:28.05\00:31:29.62 and then you have shale rock whatever there's on up 00:31:29.65\00:31:32.45 and once you start hitting that with the continuous miner 00:31:32.49\00:31:34.42 that we had at that time 00:31:34.46\00:31:35.79 would oscillate and bring it all down, 00:31:35.82\00:31:37.33 then there would just be shale or rock 00:31:37.36\00:31:39.09 or whatever up there on the surface 00:31:39.13\00:31:40.70 and a lot of times, that's kind of like it goes in layers 00:31:40.73\00:31:43.16 and thin... it's thin 00:31:43.20\00:31:44.53 and everyone... 00:31:44.57\00:31:45.90 and roof bolters that come in some of you may know that 00:31:45.93\00:31:47.87 and put little bolts in to kind of keep the loose stuff. 00:31:47.90\00:31:50.17 You're not going to hold up all the billions of tons 00:31:50.21\00:31:52.41 you know... I mean but it keeps the loose stuff 00:31:52.44\00:31:54.04 while once in a while, I'll be sitting there 00:31:54.08\00:31:55.64 maybe on a buggy or whatever 00:31:55.68\00:31:57.35 and a chunk of that shale would fall 00:31:57.38\00:31:59.41 and I began to look at that shale 00:31:59.45\00:32:01.68 and I'd seen the layer 00:32:01.72\00:32:03.18 and I've seen some of the most beautiful limbs... 00:32:03.22\00:32:07.26 it was like tree limbs... fern... 00:32:07.29\00:32:09.69 looked to me like fern just perfectly 00:32:09.72\00:32:12.06 like you etched them in it... perfectly in there 00:32:12.09\00:32:15.20 even saw something like a fish... it was in there. 00:32:15.23\00:32:18.30 Now, my... mine was... I looked at those 00:32:18.33\00:32:20.20 and I saved some of them, 00:32:20.24\00:32:21.57 I wish that I could still find them. 00:32:21.60\00:32:23.07 Got the... yeah... just dropped right there all the time, 00:32:23.10\00:32:25.44 you saw... perfectly etched in stone... 00:32:25.47\00:32:27.91 look at these things here... how did they get here? 00:32:27.94\00:32:31.05 How did they get here? 00:32:31.08\00:32:32.88 It certainly had to be the time, right, of... of the flood. 00:32:32.91\00:32:36.28 There's no doubt about it. 00:32:36.32\00:32:37.65 150 days the ark rested on the mount. 00:32:37.69\00:32:40.06 Now, funny you talk about the ark... 00:32:40.09\00:32:42.66 it had no motor, right, 00:32:42.69\00:32:46.26 it had no one, right, nothing to guide it, 00:32:46.29\00:32:49.90 it rested on a mount... the mount 00:32:49.93\00:32:54.20 so God knew exactly where it was going to... to rest 00:32:54.24\00:32:56.77 and we certainly went over year we realize 00:32:56.81\00:32:59.41 and some people debate it it's seven day before 00:32:59.44\00:33:01.81 and then the seven days, you know, 00:33:01.84\00:33:03.31 after that and so on in there 00:33:03.35\00:33:05.15 but remember no steering... no motor or anything 00:33:05.18\00:33:09.28 and it rested on the mount. 00:33:09.35\00:33:10.69 To me it's wonderful since the God who... 00:33:10.72\00:33:13.15 you mentioned I think it was what... Genesis 8:1 00:33:13.22\00:33:16.79 God remembers. Jill: Yes. 00:33:16.83\00:33:18.79 Kenny: God remembered them... He told them to go in 00:33:18.83\00:33:21.16 and He remembered them after certain period of time. 00:33:21.20\00:33:23.77 It tells that He's going to fulfill His promises 00:33:23.80\00:33:26.13 that He's made to us... 00:33:26.17\00:33:27.50 "I'll never leave you... I will never forsake you... " 00:33:27.54\00:33:29.04 I kind of feel like this... 00:33:29.07\00:33:30.54 when Noah and his family went in... the righteous went in... 00:33:30.61\00:33:32.87 God went in with them. Panel: Amen. 00:33:32.91\00:33:34.71 Kenny: Pretty soon He just went in there with them 00:33:34.74\00:33:36.08 to preserve them 00:33:36.11\00:33:37.45 and I thought... how interesting that is that God preserves... 00:33:37.48\00:33:39.91 there's one thing Noah went through, 00:33:39.95\00:33:41.72 I don't have time to read... I wish I had the time, 107, 00:33:41.75\00:33:44.69 Patriarchs and Prophets 107, if you have time to read this, 00:33:44.72\00:33:47.62 look what Noah went through at the flood. 00:33:47.66\00:33:50.43 He did... he went in when God told Him... 00:33:50.46\00:33:53.19 he came out when God told him... 00:33:53.26\00:33:55.06 he was still obedient to God, you know, 00:33:55.10\00:33:57.30 that's beautiful and God rewarded that 00:33:57.33\00:33:59.43 but when Noah went out of the ark, 00:33:59.47\00:34:01.50 listen carefully... 00:34:01.54\00:34:02.87 he was afraid. 00:34:02.90\00:34:04.24 Panel: Hmmm... 00:34:04.27\00:34:05.61 Kenny: Afraid of what? 00:34:05.64\00:34:06.98 look what the man had been through! 00:34:07.01\00:34:08.88 it's what the family had been through! 00:34:08.94\00:34:10.98 that thing was tossed and turned the world upside down as it were 00:34:11.01\00:34:14.12 and God's hand only preserved it 00:34:14.15\00:34:15.58 but he was afraid... the beasts that were in there 00:34:15.65\00:34:19.42 were much bigger than we can ever think. 00:34:19.45\00:34:22.42 They were huge but you know what? 00:34:22.46\00:34:25.33 they were like... can I say this? 00:34:25.36\00:34:26.83 They were like little kitty cats... 00:34:26.86\00:34:28.23 for over a year, they were on good behavior. 00:34:28.26\00:34:30.87 You didn't have to tan their hide... 00:34:30.90\00:34:32.53 you didn't have to do anything to them... 00:34:32.57\00:34:34.07 they were on good behavior 00:34:34.10\00:34:35.44 but when it came time to come out, 00:34:35.47\00:34:38.34 Noah began to look and he said, "Wow! 00:34:38.37\00:34:41.34 these things are huge... what might happen?" 00:34:41.41\00:34:43.75 Let me read that quickly, we got time here, 00:34:43.78\00:34:45.91 Patriarchs and Prophets, 107, 00:34:45.95\00:34:47.28 "As Noah looked upon the powerful beasts of prey... " 00:34:47.32\00:34:50.15 they might have been hungry, notice, 00:34:50.19\00:34:51.95 "that came forth from his ark, from the ark... 00:34:51.99\00:34:54.62 he feared that his family, numbering only eight persons, 00:34:54.66\00:34:57.43 would be destroyed by them. " 00:34:57.46\00:34:58.79 But I love this... 00:34:58.83\00:35:00.16 "But the Lord sent an angel to His servant 00:35:00.20\00:35:02.06 with the assuring message: 00:35:02.10\00:35:03.80 'The fear of you and the dread of you 00:35:03.83\00:35:06.43 shall be upon every beast of the earth... '" 00:35:06.47\00:35:08.60 isn't that wonderful... after all they'd been through... 00:35:08.67\00:35:11.47 I mean, I can't imagine how big these beasts of prey 00:35:11.51\00:35:14.08 might have been. 00:35:14.14\00:35:15.48 You know, it's not just a little puppy dog... 00:35:15.51\00:35:16.98 it's not a mountain lion... 00:35:17.01\00:35:18.35 it's not... we're talking about huge and he feared 00:35:18.38\00:35:21.15 but God said, "Don't worry about them, 00:35:21.18\00:35:22.52 I'm going to take care of that for you, 00:35:22.55\00:35:23.89 didn't I take care of you through all this 00:35:23.92\00:35:25.25 so, we see what? 00:35:25.29\00:35:26.62 God remembered... truly God saves. 00:35:26.65\00:35:28.82 Panel: Amen... amen... that's right... amen. 00:35:28.86\00:35:31.46 Terry: Wow! it's been good stuff so far. 00:35:31.49\00:35:34.33 So, I've been given Wednesday's lesson 00:35:34.36\00:35:37.17 which is entitled: The Covenant. 00:35:37.20\00:35:38.53 When I saw that I had a lesson called: The Covenant 00:35:38.57\00:35:42.17 and you got to cover it like in ten minutes, 00:35:42.20\00:35:44.37 so I'm thinking, "Come on, how can we possibly... 00:35:44.41\00:35:46.51 you know, there's covenants all throughout the Bible 00:35:46.57\00:35:48.64 and... and there's so much... " 00:35:48.68\00:35:50.85 but I got to looking at the word "Covenant" 00:35:50.91\00:35:54.12 and what I found was that in the first... 00:35:54.15\00:35:57.32 the first time that we experience the word "Covenant" 00:35:57.35\00:36:00.36 in the Bible comes from Genesis chapter 6 00:36:00.39\00:36:03.93 where God said... "But I... " Genesis chapter 6 and verse 18, 00:36:03.96\00:36:08.13 "But I will establish My covenant with you; 00:36:08.16\00:36:10.83 you shall go into the ark... 00:36:10.87\00:36:14.14 you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. " 00:36:14.17\00:36:17.47 Both in the King James and the New King James, 00:36:17.51\00:36:20.01 this is the first time that we come across the word 00:36:20.04\00:36:21.88 "Covenant. " 00:36:21.91\00:36:23.24 Now, what is a covenant? 00:36:23.28\00:36:24.65 A covenant is... is simply an alliance... 00:36:24.68\00:36:28.18 an agreement... a promise or a pledge 00:36:28.22\00:36:31.59 and in this case, the covenant or God was making this promise 00:36:31.65\00:36:35.66 to Noah to save his family 00:36:35.69\00:36:38.16 as opposed to... we read in Genesis chapter 6 and verse 17 00:36:38.19\00:36:42.16 when God talks about... He's going to destroy everything 00:36:42.20\00:36:45.33 but God promises to save Noah and his family. 00:36:45.37\00:36:48.90 So the... the lesson brings out... 00:36:48.94\00:36:50.81 it asks this question, 00:36:50.84\00:36:52.31 "What did Noah do first when he went out of the ark and why?" 00:36:52.34\00:36:57.15 And our answer is found in Genesis chapter 8 and verse 20 00:36:57.18\00:37:01.12 and it says, "Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, 00:37:01.15\00:37:04.55 and he took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, 00:37:04.59\00:37:08.12 and offered burnt offerings on the altar. " 00:37:08.16\00:37:11.29 So, what was the first thing that Noah did? 00:37:11.33\00:37:13.23 He offered sacrifice. 00:37:13.26\00:37:14.60 He went and worshipped and offered sacrifice. 00:37:14.63\00:37:17.93 Now, the Bible... as we read through the Scriptures, 00:37:17.97\00:37:22.24 we find that there are many reasons to offer sacrifice. 00:37:22.27\00:37:25.71 Sometimes it was done at yearly festivals and holidays 00:37:25.74\00:37:29.44 certainly as an atonement for sin 00:37:29.48\00:37:32.01 but in this case, it was to offer thanksgiving. 00:37:32.05\00:37:36.79 "Thank You God for saving our lives... and for... " 00:37:36.82\00:37:40.92 think about the harrowing... 00:37:40.96\00:37:42.29 we already talked about the... 00:37:42.32\00:37:43.66 the harrowing experience that Noah and his family 00:37:43.69\00:37:45.76 had been through... 00:37:45.79\00:37:47.40 we're talking... I don't know, I didn't add up the days... 00:37:47.46\00:37:49.90 we're talking like a year or something... this whole ordeal 00:37:49.93\00:37:52.33 and, you know, day in and day out... 00:37:52.37\00:37:54.57 sometimes, some of us might get a little testy, 00:37:54.60\00:37:56.77 "Oh, I'm ready to get out of here... " you know, 00:37:56.81\00:37:58.94 or something but this harrowing experience, 00:37:58.97\00:38:02.04 but the first thing that God... that Noah did 00:38:02.08\00:38:05.11 was to offer thanks 00:38:05.15\00:38:06.61 and... and ultimately to worship 00:38:06.65\00:38:09.48 and it made me think about something. 00:38:09.55\00:38:11.29 How many of us have been driving down the road one day 00:38:11.32\00:38:15.69 and a car pulls out suddenly 00:38:15.72\00:38:17.49 and you... you almost get hit 00:38:17.53\00:38:19.26 or, you know, somebody stops in front of you, 00:38:19.29\00:38:21.53 you almost run into them... 00:38:21.56\00:38:22.90 do we take a moment to thank God... 00:38:22.93\00:38:25.50 "God, thank You for protecting me and my family in the car, 00:38:25.53\00:38:29.40 you know, thank You for... for averting the danger 00:38:29.47\00:38:32.01 and keeping us from it. " 00:38:32.04\00:38:33.68 Or maybe some disaster that... 00:38:33.71\00:38:35.24 that we have skirted around somehow, 00:38:35.31\00:38:37.68 "Thank you God... " just take a moment... 00:38:37.71\00:38:39.05 "Thank You God for protecting me and my family and saving us. " 00:38:39.08\00:38:42.68 We also have... in this verse we have the first mention 00:38:42.72\00:38:47.79 of the word "Altar" 00:38:47.82\00:38:49.36 a dedicated place to come and to bring sacrifice and to worship. 00:38:49.39\00:38:54.23 Now, of course, we understand that in order to make sacrifice, 00:38:54.26\00:38:59.07 that some of the animals that were with them in the ark 00:38:59.10\00:39:03.44 had to die. 00:39:03.47\00:39:04.81 Some of the animals that they tended to every day 00:39:04.84\00:39:07.64 and fed these precious animals 00:39:07.68\00:39:09.81 and there was a... a good relationship up to this point 00:39:09.84\00:39:12.95 with Noah and the animals. 00:39:12.98\00:39:15.45 But some of them, unfortunately, had to die. 00:39:15.48\00:39:19.15 Now, we find that, of course, 00:39:19.19\00:39:23.43 Noah knew the stipulation between clean 00:39:23.46\00:39:26.29 and unclean animals... 00:39:26.33\00:39:27.66 we find that in Genesis 7 and verse 2, 00:39:27.70\00:39:29.13 and not only in this case... not only were they for sacrifice 00:39:29.16\00:39:33.84 but they were for... to provide sustenance 00:39:33.87\00:39:36.94 to Noah and his family. 00:39:36.97\00:39:38.31 God had never given permission 00:39:38.34\00:39:40.28 for man to eat animals in this way before. 00:39:40.31\00:39:43.48 It is very likely that the ungodly had... 00:39:43.51\00:39:46.65 had taken part in such things 00:39:46.68\00:39:48.35 as Inspiration, I think, tells us 00:39:48.38\00:39:49.82 but God had never given permission for man 00:39:49.85\00:39:52.59 to use the animals for sustenance 00:39:52.62\00:39:55.42 and because of that, the lesson brings out about 00:39:55.46\00:40:00.06 a change in a relationship now between mankind and the animal, 00:40:00.10\00:40:06.43 the animal lives, you know, now... 00:40:06.47\00:40:08.70 before... we kind of think that there must have been 00:40:08.74\00:40:12.61 a... a friendly-type relationship 00:40:12.64\00:40:14.61 but as we go to Genesis chapter 9 and verses 2 through 4 00:40:14.64\00:40:19.61 I'm just going to read 2 right now, it says, 00:40:19.65\00:40:21.22 "And the fear... " 00:40:21.25\00:40:22.65 we already touched on this earlier... 00:40:22.68\00:40:24.85 "And the fear of you and the dread of you 00:40:24.89\00:40:26.86 shall be on every beast of the earth, 00:40:26.92\00:40:28.86 on every bird of the air, 00:40:28.92\00:40:30.26 and all that move on the earth, 00:40:30.29\00:40:31.79 and all the fish of the sea. 00:40:31.83\00:40:34.16 They are given into your hand. " 00:40:34.20\00:40:36.46 Panel: Hmmm... 00:40:36.50\00:40:37.83 Terry: So, now we see a change in the relationship 00:40:37.87\00:40:41.04 between Noah and his family and the animal kingdom 00:40:41.07\00:40:44.51 and now, they're... they're scared, 00:40:44.57\00:40:46.74 you know, the animals... 00:40:46.78\00:40:48.11 and we know what it's like today. 00:40:48.14\00:40:49.48 We live... where I live there's a little... 00:40:49.51\00:40:52.78 little section of land by myself 00:40:52.81\00:40:54.18 and I'll see deer come up in the front yard 00:40:54.22\00:40:57.09 and, you know, I have this little motion sensor 00:40:57.15\00:40:59.99 that comes on at night 00:41:00.02\00:41:01.36 and the light will come on 00:41:01.39\00:41:02.72 and I'll say, "Oh, something's out there" 00:41:02.76\00:41:04.26 and I'll peek out and there's four to five deer 00:41:04.29\00:41:06.66 right out in my front yard, 00:41:06.70\00:41:08.03 you know, just finding what they can find 00:41:08.06\00:41:09.83 and as soon as I open the door, 00:41:09.86\00:41:11.63 you know... to... shoosh... they're gone. 00:41:11.67\00:41:13.70 You know, they're scared... they are afraid, you know, 00:41:13.74\00:41:16.24 and... so that continues on today... 00:41:16.27\00:41:19.17 a change in the relationship 00:41:19.21\00:41:21.04 but it goes on... Genesis 9 verse 3, 00:41:21.08\00:41:24.68 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. 00:41:24.71\00:41:29.22 I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. " 00:41:29.25\00:41:32.72 That's a difficult verse right there, 00:41:32.75\00:41:34.12 we'll talk about it a little bit. 00:41:34.16\00:41:35.49 Verse 4, "But you shall not eat flesh with its life, 00:41:35.52\00:41:39.39 that is, its blood. " 00:41:39.43\00:41:41.30 Now, let's think about this. 00:41:41.33\00:41:42.66 They come out of the ark... 00:41:42.70\00:41:44.03 all vegetation had been destroyed. 00:41:44.07\00:41:46.53 God says, "This is what... 00:41:46.60\00:41:48.70 this is the plan that I've set up for you 00:41:48.74\00:41:50.17 but it's not all... what we say, willy-nilly... 00:41:50.21\00:41:53.27 just eat everything that you want, right? 00:41:53.31\00:41:55.04 There are... there are stipulations, 00:41:55.08\00:41:56.41 "You can't eat this... you can't eat that... 00:41:56.44\00:41:58.31 and you must prepare it in a certain way... " right? 00:41:58.35\00:42:00.92 So, God says, "Only the clean... clean meats 00:42:00.95\00:42:06.05 and you must not eat the blood. " 00:42:06.09\00:42:09.36 Now, we can't get tripped up on that verse 3... 00:42:09.39\00:42:12.03 every moving thing shall be for food, right, 00:42:12.09\00:42:14.70 we have to take everything in context. 00:42:14.73\00:42:16.53 Panel: That's right. Terry: I like what Isaiah says, 00:42:16.56\00:42:18.13 "Line upon line... precept upon precept... 00:42:18.20\00:42:20.34 here a little and there a little. " 00:42:20.37\00:42:21.70 So, we can't build an entire teaching... 00:42:21.74\00:42:24.14 an entire doctrinal study on one verse, right, 00:42:24.17\00:42:27.01 we have to take little bit here and there. 00:42:27.08\00:42:29.84 God is consistent... 00:42:29.91\00:42:31.45 God doesn't change... 00:42:31.48\00:42:32.95 He's the same yesterday, today and forever 00:42:33.01\00:42:34.72 and so, when God says something, 00:42:34.75\00:42:36.48 it means that, you know, I've designed it this way, 00:42:36.52\00:42:39.59 it's going to be this way, it's always been this way, 00:42:39.62\00:42:42.52 it's going to be this way from now on. " 00:42:42.56\00:42:43.96 Ryan: That's right. 00:42:43.99\00:42:45.33 Terry: We know that before the flood... 00:42:45.36\00:42:47.10 we know that God stipulated what are clean and unclean animals 00:42:47.13\00:42:50.97 and then after... years later 00:42:51.00\00:42:53.44 as we mentioned earlier in Leviticus chapter 11 00:42:53.47\00:42:55.74 we'll... more detail about what is permissible to eat 00:42:55.80\00:42:59.01 and not to eat 00:42:59.04\00:43:00.38 but you know what I find interesting? 00:43:00.41\00:43:01.74 I heard Doug Batchelor say this one day... 00:43:01.78\00:43:03.11 and Pastor Doug... he says, "When we are talking about diet, 00:43:03.14\00:43:05.91 there is... there is what is not permitted, 00:43:05.98\00:43:09.82 there is what is permitted 00:43:09.85\00:43:11.75 and then, there is what is best" right, 00:43:11.79\00:43:14.56 and we know what is best, right? 00:43:14.59\00:43:16.06 God gave us... in the first couple of chapters of... 00:43:16.12\00:43:18.13 of Genesis, God gave us the trees... 00:43:18.16\00:43:20.50 the vegetables... the nuts... the legumes... things like that, 00:43:20.53\00:43:22.93 these are what is best. 00:43:22.96\00:43:24.47 This was... at this time this was allowed 00:43:24.50\00:43:26.70 and we understand how it went down through the centuries 00:43:26.74\00:43:29.90 but what is best is... is what is optimal for our bodies, 00:43:29.94\00:43:34.81 at this time, they didn't have that option. 00:43:34.84\00:43:38.01 But Friends, God does not change. 00:43:38.05\00:43:40.85 Panel: Hmmm... thank you. Terry: God doesn't change, 00:43:40.88\00:43:43.12 when He said there are clean and unclean animals, 00:43:43.15\00:43:45.39 there are still clean and unclean animals today 00:43:45.42\00:43:47.96 and there are even ways of preparing those clean meats 00:43:47.99\00:43:51.33 for those who... who eat such things 00:43:51.36\00:43:53.66 and even the Jews... 00:43:53.70\00:43:55.13 we did some research one time about... about Jewish life and 00:43:55.16\00:43:58.63 and how they have their kitchen is set up 00:43:58.67\00:44:00.80 with kosher and non-kosher and, you know, and... and 00:44:00.84\00:44:03.41 preparing certain ways and... and... the meats and whatever, 00:44:03.44\00:44:07.34 they still adhere to that very strictly 00:44:07.38\00:44:10.08 and God has a reason that He said those things 00:44:10.11\00:44:12.51 so, what we want to see is that... 00:44:12.55\00:44:15.85 that Noah... want to go back to this again, 00:44:15.88\00:44:20.26 give thanks to God when He brings you some... 00:44:20.29\00:44:23.22 through some harrowing event... 00:44:23.26\00:44:25.23 some disaster... some tragedy... 00:44:25.29\00:44:27.23 stop a moment... even if... 00:44:27.26\00:44:29.16 I know my wife, you know, 00:44:29.20\00:44:31.43 we've had things happen and my wife... 00:44:31.47\00:44:33.57 "Oh, thank You God... " right there, 00:44:33.60\00:44:35.14 while I'm driving down the road, 00:44:35.17\00:44:36.94 "Thank You God for sparing our lives once again, amen... " 00:44:36.97\00:44:39.41 amen... so praise the Lord for our lesson today, Pastor John. 00:44:39.44\00:44:41.94 Panel: Amen... amen. 00:44:41.98\00:44:43.31 Lomacang: Wow! thank you for that extra time, 00:44:43.35\00:44:45.18 praise the Lord everything has been good, 00:44:45.21\00:44:47.28 what's nice about being on Thursday... I'm a gleaner, 00:44:47.32\00:44:49.65 I get to glean... 00:44:49.68\00:44:51.05 I get to see and hear what you guys haven't said 00:44:51.09\00:44:53.56 and what you have said, thank you for setting the pace 00:44:53.59\00:44:55.39 and the reminder of God making a covenant 00:44:55.42\00:44:57.96 for what we can and cannot eat. 00:44:57.99\00:44:59.69 Mine is Covenant: Part Two. 00:44:59.73\00:45:01.36 Now, I'm going, to begin with Genesis chapter 8 verse 21 00:45:01.40\00:45:04.27 and all the way to Genesis 9 verse 1, 00:45:04.33\00:45:06.94 and this is an evidence of what that covenant is 00:45:06.97\00:45:11.21 and what it means to the Lord 00:45:11.24\00:45:13.81 but as you go there, 00:45:13.88\00:45:15.28 I want to just bring out five quick points here. 00:45:15.31\00:45:17.68 Now, Terry pointed out 00:45:17.71\00:45:20.38 the first time the word "covenant" was mentioned 00:45:20.42\00:45:22.18 was talked about as it relates to the flood 00:45:22.22\00:45:25.09 but I want to go back a little further than that... 00:45:25.12\00:45:27.29 and I agree with you 00:45:27.32\00:45:28.69 because the Sabbath covenant was the first one made 00:45:28.72\00:45:31.09 and you find... they were the ones I'm going to talk about. 00:45:31.13\00:45:34.46 There was the Edenic Covenant... 00:45:34.50\00:45:36.10 the Adamic Covenant... 00:45:36.13\00:45:38.53 there was the Noahic Covenant... 00:45:38.60\00:45:40.57 the Davidic covenant... 00:45:40.60\00:45:42.10 the Land Covenant... 00:45:42.14\00:45:43.54 you find that all through the book of Deuteronomy 29 00:45:43.61\00:45:45.57 the covenant God made with the land. 00:45:45.61\00:45:47.44 "If you would honor my covenant I made with the land, 00:45:47.48\00:45:50.05 it will continue producing all that you need... " 00:45:50.08\00:45:52.61 and then the New Covenant 00:45:52.68\00:45:54.35 which is a reiteration of the Covenant that He made 00:45:54.38\00:45:57.32 in the Garden of Eden with Adam 00:45:57.35\00:45:58.92 putting the Seed... 00:45:58.95\00:46:00.32 the Seed that would come and redeem humanity. 00:46:00.36\00:46:02.42 But the Edenic Covenant was established in Genesis 00:46:02.46\00:46:05.49 and the Lord reiterated that in Exodus, 00:46:05.53\00:46:07.80 He says, "Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath 00:46:07.86\00:46:11.60 to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations 00:46:11.63\00:46:13.80 as a perpetual covenant... " 00:46:13.84\00:46:15.40 and that covenant was established 00:46:15.44\00:46:17.21 in the book of Genesis. 00:46:17.27\00:46:18.67 Now, the covenant He made with Adam was, 00:46:18.71\00:46:20.74 you know, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman... 00:46:20.78\00:46:24.78 between thy seed and her Seed... " 00:46:24.81\00:46:26.25 that's the covenant He made with Adam 00:46:26.28\00:46:27.62 but the point I want to make here with the Noahic Covenant 00:46:27.68\00:46:30.69 is the Noahic Covenant was necessary 00:46:30.72\00:46:35.96 for the covenant, He made with Adam to be accomplished. 00:46:35.99\00:46:40.20 Panel: Ah. 00:46:40.23\00:46:41.56 Lomacang: Now, watch this, why is that... 00:46:41.60\00:46:42.93 why is that possible? 00:46:42.96\00:46:44.30 Why would the covenant He made with Noah be necessary 00:46:44.33\00:46:47.70 for the covenant, He made with Adam to be accomplished? 00:46:47.74\00:46:51.74 When it began to rain, 00:46:51.77\00:46:54.81 the first time rain was experienced 00:46:54.84\00:46:56.88 was during the flood. 00:46:56.91\00:46:58.25 Can you imagine if God never made a covenant 00:46:58.28\00:47:01.32 that there will never be a flood again, 00:47:01.35\00:47:04.19 there was a possibility that a flood could occur again 00:47:04.22\00:47:07.39 which would wipe out humanity over and over and over again. 00:47:07.42\00:47:11.93 Therefore, the covenant of redemption 00:47:11.96\00:47:14.70 would not be accomplished 00:47:14.73\00:47:16.67 because of continual, repetitive destruction of humanity. 00:47:16.70\00:47:20.40 So, God put a covenant 00:47:20.44\00:47:22.17 and I call this: the covenant of preservation. 00:47:22.20\00:47:24.54 The covenant that He made with the... with the rainbow 00:47:24.57\00:47:29.31 that He made with Noah, 00:47:29.34\00:47:30.75 is the covenant of preservation 00:47:30.78\00:47:33.52 so that the covenant of redemption 00:47:33.55\00:47:35.82 could be accomplished. Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... hmmm. 00:47:35.85\00:47:38.15 Lomacang: So God is saying, "I'm going to preserve everything 00:47:38.19\00:47:39.89 the way it needs to be... 00:47:39.95\00:47:41.39 I'm going to protect all of humanity 00:47:41.42\00:47:43.22 whether wicked or whether righteous... 00:47:43.26\00:47:45.49 whether good or evil... 00:47:45.53\00:47:47.13 no matter how they are, 00:47:47.16\00:47:48.70 I'm going to make it so that all humanity has access 00:47:48.73\00:47:52.10 to the covenant of redemption because I made a covenant 00:47:52.13\00:47:55.37 that the world will never be destroyed again by water.
