Pastor Kenny Shelton. 00:01:37.56\00:01:39.53 Kenny: It's always a delight to study the Word of God together. 00:01:39.56\00:01:42.16 I always learn so much from each and every one 00:01:42.20\00:01:44.80 and praise God for the opportunity. 00:01:44.83\00:01:46.67 Shelley: Well, we're glad you're here 00:01:46.70\00:01:48.47 and then Sister Jill Morikone, 00:01:48.50\00:01:51.24 how many takeaways do you have today? 00:01:51.27\00:01:52.67 Jill: Ten takeaways for today. 00:01:52.71\00:01:55.08 I'm excited to open up the Word of God and study. 00:01:55.14\00:01:57.48 Shelley: Oh me too... me too. 00:01:57.51\00:01:58.85 John, would you like to have a prayer please? 00:01:58.88\00:02:00.42 Lomacang: Sure... "Loving Father in heaven, 00:02:00.45\00:02:01.95 as we open Your Word... 00:02:01.98\00:02:03.32 you've said to us, 'In the beginning was the Word' 00:02:03.35\00:02:05.39 then You said, 'Let there be light' 00:02:05.45\00:02:07.22 and Lord, today we ask for the same thing. 00:02:07.26\00:02:09.22 Let the light that you reveal to us 00:02:09.26\00:02:11.96 be revealed through us 00:02:11.99\00:02:13.33 to those who are seeking to walk in the light of Your Word 00:02:13.36\00:02:16.73 and may all the glory go only to You. 00:02:16.77\00:02:18.70 In Jesus' name, amen. 00:02:18.73\00:02:20.14 Panel: Amen, amen. 00:02:20.17\00:02:21.50 Shelley: The beauty of Genesis 00:02:21.54\00:02:23.54 is that it reveals the origin of human kind... 00:02:23.57\00:02:27.94 it reveals the origin of time and Biblical history. 00:02:27.98\00:02:31.55 I want to give you an overview of Genesis. 00:02:31.58\00:02:35.68 That's what I was impressed to do as I was preparing 00:02:35.72\00:02:38.89 because Genesis lays the theological foundation 00:02:38.92\00:02:42.89 for some very important points. 00:02:42.92\00:02:46.49 First, God is Father... Son and Spirit. 00:02:46.53\00:02:49.83 Humankind... sin and death... 00:02:49.86\00:02:52.80 God's covenant promises of redemption... 00:02:52.83\00:02:57.27 of blessings and judgments. 00:02:57.31\00:03:00.18 It introduces God's covenant people 00:03:00.21\00:03:03.24 and God's character. 00:03:03.28\00:03:05.35 We will see that the more sin abounds... 00:03:05.38\00:03:07.85 the more God's grace abounds 00:03:07.88\00:03:10.65 to a people that were willfully disobedient 00:03:10.69\00:03:13.82 but it also lays a foundation of... a theological foundation 00:03:13.86\00:03:19.39 for Satan and angels. 00:03:19.43\00:03:21.43 Our memory text is: "In the beginning... " 00:03:21.46\00:03:23.97 this is Genesis 1:1... 00:03:24.03\00:03:26.00 this is how the Bible starts... 00:03:26.03\00:03:27.50 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. " 00:03:27.54\00:03:31.07 Now, this word "God" is Elohim. 00:03:31.11\00:03:34.88 The Bible says in the New Testament 00:03:34.91\00:03:38.55 in John 1:1 through 4... 00:03:38.58\00:03:41.15 "In the beginning was the Word, 00:03:41.18\00:03:43.05 the Word was with God, 00:03:43.08\00:03:44.42 and the Word was God... 00:03:44.45\00:03:47.62 and He was in the beginning with God... 00:03:47.66\00:03:50.66 All things were made through Him; 00:03:50.69\00:03:52.69 and without Him nothing was made that was made. 00:03:52.73\00:03:55.73 In Him was life; His life was the light of men. " 00:03:55.76\00:03:59.87 And verse 14 of John chapter 1 says, 00:03:59.90\00:04:03.51 "He became a man... " 00:04:03.54\00:04:06.34 He tabernacled among us 00:04:06.37\00:04:09.11 and so, we know that Jesus Christ is the Creator... 00:04:09.14\00:04:15.42 He was there in the beginning. 00:04:15.45\00:04:17.65 So, really, when we look at Genesis, 00:04:17.69\00:04:20.62 it is about... Jesus is our Creator... 00:04:20.66\00:04:23.56 our Sustainer... 00:04:23.59\00:04:25.09 you know, Hebrews 1:3 says that He upholds everything 00:04:25.13\00:04:28.26 by His mighty word of power and our redeemer. 00:04:28.30\00:04:33.57 Genesis is the beginning of God's progressive unfolding 00:04:33.60\00:04:40.11 of His everlasting covenant 00:04:40.14\00:04:42.38 and it is introduced in Genesis 3:15, 00:04:42.41\00:04:46.92 and you know what? 00:04:46.95\00:04:48.28 The whole story is not completely unfolded 00:04:48.32\00:04:51.95 till we reach Revelation 22:22. 00:04:51.99\00:04:55.32 Genesis was written after the exodus... 00:04:55.36\00:04:58.93 it was written by Moses after the exodus 00:04:58.96\00:05:02.50 but some time before his death 00:05:02.53\00:05:04.20 and God had him write the history of creation... 00:05:04.23\00:05:08.14 the primitive history of mankind 00:05:08.17\00:05:11.04 and the patriarchal history of His chosen people. 00:05:11.07\00:05:17.05 Genesis ends with the death of Joseph... 00:05:17.08\00:05:20.65 about 280 years before Moses was born 00:05:20.72\00:05:24.25 but it's important to note 00:05:24.29\00:05:26.25 both the Old Testament and the New Testament 00:05:26.32\00:05:29.59 refer to Moses as the author. 00:05:29.62\00:05:32.26 It's quoted or alluded to 100s of times in the Old Testament... 00:05:32.29\00:05:36.40 Genesis is... 00:05:36.43\00:05:37.77 but it's quoted over 35 times in the New Testament. 00:05:37.80\00:05:41.20 So, the contents in Genesis are divided into two primary parts. 00:05:41.24\00:05:47.21 There is chapters one through 11 00:05:47.24\00:05:50.28 and then chapters 12 through 50. 00:05:50.31\00:05:53.28 One through 11 condenses... distills 2000 years of history 00:05:53.31\00:06:01.02 into... it's just a sweeping overview of history 00:06:01.06\00:06:06.13 in those 11 chapters 00:06:06.16\00:06:08.50 and what we see there is the creation of a perfect world... 00:06:08.53\00:06:13.03 perfect man... 00:06:13.07\00:06:14.40 we see the fall of man... 00:06:14.44\00:06:15.77 we see the flood 00:06:15.80\00:06:17.14 and we see the dispersion of the nations 00:06:17.17\00:06:20.48 and what we see also 00:06:20.54\00:06:23.01 is that Genesis relates to Revelation. 00:06:23.04\00:06:27.55 In Genesis, there's the paradise lost... 00:06:27.58\00:06:32.05 Revelation... Paradise regained. 00:06:32.09\00:06:35.26 In Genesis, there is the fall of mankind... 00:06:35.29\00:06:38.53 the curse of sin. 00:06:38.56\00:06:39.89 In Revelation 22:3 says, there will no longer be a curse. 00:06:39.93\00:06:44.50 In Genesis, they're banned from the Tree of Life... 00:06:44.53\00:06:47.30 but in Revelation, we find that robe in Christ's righteousness, 00:06:47.34\00:06:52.97 we are once again eating from the Tree of Life. 00:06:53.01\00:06:56.04 So, let's see Genesis 12 through 50. 00:06:56.08\00:07:00.68 This is the patriarchal history. 00:07:00.72\00:07:03.18 The history of and... and this is important because 00:07:03.22\00:07:07.36 you'll see why it's so important to us. 00:07:07.42\00:07:09.69 The history of Abraham... 00:07:09.72\00:07:11.49 God actually introduced... re-affirmed 00:07:11.53\00:07:16.56 and He confirmed His everlasting covenant with Abraham... 00:07:16.60\00:07:22.50 passed on to Jacob... 00:07:22.54\00:07:23.94 Isaac... Jacob and then Joseph. 00:07:24.01\00:07:26.47 So, what we're going to look at in... in Genesis 1 through 11 00:07:26.54\00:07:32.41 is in Mesopotamia... 00:07:32.45\00:07:33.88 Genesis 12 through 50 is in Canaan 00:07:33.92\00:07:38.79 and the Promised Land. 00:07:38.82\00:07:40.52 So, here's the fascinating thing 00:07:40.56\00:07:43.83 and it puts everything into perspective. 00:07:43.86\00:07:47.50 The Bible records 4100 years of history. 00:07:47.53\00:07:51.13 Do you realize, over 2300 years are recorded in Genesis. 00:07:51.17\00:07:57.64 Why is it that important? 00:07:57.67\00:07:59.27 Wow! and in the beginning, the first verse when it says, 00:07:59.31\00:08:04.58 God created... the word there is "Bara" in the Hebrew 00:08:04.61\00:08:09.85 and you know what that means? 00:08:09.88\00:08:11.39 He created something from nothing... 00:08:11.42\00:08:14.52 "Bara" is never used with mankind... 00:08:14.56\00:08:18.69 it is a word that is only assigned to God. 00:08:18.73\00:08:23.43 So... Sunday: The God of Creation... 00:08:23.47\00:08:25.67 oh, I've got to rush. 00:08:25.73\00:08:27.07 Moses... when... when Moses is introducing God, you know what? 00:08:27.10\00:08:31.51 He doesn't even try to defend or explain God's origin 00:08:31.54\00:08:36.91 or His character. 00:08:36.95\00:08:38.28 He just knows... both are by faith 00:08:38.31\00:08:41.32 and he gets with it. 00:08:41.35\00:08:42.88 But there's two different Genesis accounts 00:08:42.95\00:08:46.92 and they spotlight two different ideas of God 00:08:46.96\00:08:50.93 or of His character. 00:08:50.96\00:08:52.33 The first account is found in Genesis 1:1 through 4, 00:08:52.39\00:08:56.36 when it says, "In the beginning God created... " 00:08:56.40\00:09:00.37 it's Elohim created... 00:09:00.64\00:09:03.44 this is the transcendent God whose eternal existence 00:09:03.47\00:09:09.88 is beyond our material universe 00:09:09.94\00:09:12.88 and His name... this name is Majesty and Preeminence. 00:09:12.91\00:09:18.55 But when we get to the second account 00:09:18.59\00:09:22.02 in Genesis 2:4 through 25, 00:09:22.06\00:09:24.79 let's look at Genesis 2:4, 00:09:24.83\00:09:27.46 "This is the history of the heavens and the earth 00:09:27.50\00:09:29.76 when they were created, 00:09:29.80\00:09:31.13 in the day that the LORD God... " 00:09:31.17\00:09:34.44 this is not Elohim... this is God's covenant name, Yahweh. 00:09:34.47\00:09:39.91 "In that day that the LORD God made the heavens and the earth" 00:09:39.94\00:09:45.35 so, this name denotes an imminent God 00:09:45.38\00:09:50.95 in that, that there's two words for Imminent... 00:09:50.99\00:09:53.49 and people sometimes don't realize the second word: 00:09:53.52\00:09:56.32 I M M A N E N T 00:09:56.36\00:09:59.63 is talking about God's Eminence... 00:09:59.66\00:10:02.46 His presence around us that He is up close and personal 00:10:02.50\00:10:07.90 and He creates... I guess you could say, 00:10:07.94\00:10:12.17 it makes us acknowledge our dependence on God. 00:10:12.21\00:10:16.31 So, in this two-fold... 00:10:16.34\00:10:18.31 in these two names we see the majestic powerful God 00:10:18.35\00:10:22.08 and a God who is close and loving 00:10:22.12\00:10:25.25 and wants us in personal relationship. 00:10:25.29\00:10:30.23 Now, when we look at Genesis, where am I? 00:10:30.26\00:10:35.10 When... when we look at Psalm 100 verses 1 through 3, 00:10:35.16\00:10:43.30 when we see there is that... 00:10:43.34\00:10:47.08 it says, "Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all ye lands. 00:10:47.11\00:10:54.28 Serve the LORD with gladness: 00:10:54.32\00:10:57.72 come before His presence with singing. 00:10:57.75\00:11:01.12 Know that the LORD He is God: 00:11:01.16\00:11:04.56 it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; 00:11:04.59\00:11:10.50 we are His sheep... His people... 00:11:10.53\00:11:14.67 and the sheep of His pasture. " 00:11:14.70\00:11:16.34 So, Genesis is going to explain to us where we came from. 00:11:16.37\00:11:23.21 God created us in His image. 00:11:23.24\00:11:26.92 God created us to have that covenant relationship 00:11:26.95\00:11:34.36 with Yahweh... Jehovah God. 00:11:34.39\00:11:37.76 He wants... 00:11:37.79\00:11:39.59 He... He was increasing the size of His family. 00:11:39.66\00:11:43.10 I guess you could say... when He created us. 00:11:43.13\00:11:46.57 But this also shows us why we're here. 00:11:46.60\00:11:50.81 We're here to have that personal close relationship with our Lord 00:11:50.84\00:11:57.98 and, you know, when you look through and you see 00:11:58.01\00:12:03.42 Elohim... the One who existed forever 00:12:03.45\00:12:08.79 and then we see Yahweh. 00:12:08.82\00:12:12.53 That One who existed forever... His personal name, Jehovah, 00:12:12.56\00:12:17.57 that He wants us. 00:12:17.60\00:12:19.87 It's all about grace... 00:12:19.90\00:12:21.87 it's all about grace. 00:12:21.90\00:12:23.77 We're only here because of God's grace, 00:12:23.81\00:12:27.74 He created this beautiful world... 00:12:27.81\00:12:30.18 then he set man in this world 00:12:30.21\00:12:32.55 and then we're going to see as we go through Genesis 00:12:32.58\00:12:36.92 that God is a God of redemption. 00:12:36.95\00:12:42.46 This... it is such an important part 00:12:42.49\00:12:45.86 and this too... redemption is a gift of God's grace. 00:12:45.89\00:12:50.50 So, we pray that as we go through this, 00:12:50.53\00:12:53.13 don't think, "Oh, I've heard this... 00:12:53.17\00:12:55.67 this story before in my Sabbath School... " 00:12:55.70\00:12:59.24 or my Sunday School... 00:12:59.27\00:13:00.61 wherever you go for Bible Studies, 00:13:00.64\00:13:03.85 what we want you to do is listen 00:13:03.88\00:13:06.58 because we're going to bring out 00:13:06.61\00:13:09.22 points that you may never have thought of 00:13:09.25\00:13:12.45 where it's like we're peeling an onion 00:13:12.49\00:13:15.59 and we're getting down... or better say an artichoke... 00:13:15.62\00:13:18.69 we're peeling off the leaves of an artichoke 00:13:18.73\00:13:21.40 till we get to the heart of the matter 00:13:21.43\00:13:23.50 and it is the heart of God. 00:13:23.53\00:13:26.57 Panel: Amen... amen... praise the Lord. 00:13:26.63\00:13:29.50 Lomacang: Well, we have started in the Genesis... of the Genesis 00:13:29.54\00:13:34.38 and mine is: The Creation... Monday. 00:13:34.44\00:13:37.48 Now, creation is something that all Christians, I believe, 00:13:37.55\00:13:42.45 should believe in Creation. 00:13:42.48\00:13:44.59 I've been surprised to find out the different theories 00:13:44.62\00:13:47.99 that are coming out of what people may believe 00:13:48.02\00:13:50.99 and at the very same time saying they believe in Creation. 00:13:51.03\00:13:53.70 Creation is a record that as a matter of fact, 00:13:53.73\00:13:57.37 you can find seven days in no other place in the world... 00:13:57.40\00:14:00.77 you can't find it in the stars... the sun... the moon... 00:14:00.84\00:14:04.17 the cycles of time... it can only be found 00:14:04.21\00:14:06.74 in the story of Creation 00:14:06.78\00:14:09.08 and you find that at the end of the six creation days, 00:14:09.11\00:14:12.38 this phrase: It was good... and God saw that it was good. 00:14:12.41\00:14:15.65 You find that a continual cadence... 00:14:15.68\00:14:17.99 throughout the story of Creation 00:14:18.02\00:14:20.19 in the book of Genesis chapter 1. 00:14:20.22\00:14:23.16 But the tenure goes to another level 00:14:23.19\00:14:26.06 when creation is completed. 00:14:26.09\00:14:28.33 Let's go to Genesis 1 and verse 31, 00:14:28.36\00:14:30.17 God's observation escalates to another level 00:14:30.20\00:14:33.40 when creation is completed. 00:14:33.44\00:14:35.20 Genesis 1 verse 31, 00:14:35.24\00:14:37.47 "Then God saw every thing that He had made, 00:14:37.51\00:14:41.01 and indeed it was... " together... 00:14:41.04\00:14:43.18 All: "very good. 00:14:43.21\00:14:44.85 So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. " 00:14:44.88\00:14:48.22 We find that phrase, "evening and morning" six times. 00:14:48.25\00:14:51.55 We find the word "day" ten times. 00:14:51.59\00:14:53.96 and that is not... there are some that believe that 00:14:53.99\00:14:58.13 the days were a... a thousand years long 00:14:58.16\00:15:01.33 and they try to cite... 00:15:01.36\00:15:02.70 "With the Lord, a day is as a thousand years 00:15:02.73\00:15:05.77 and a thousand years is as a day... " 00:15:05.80\00:15:07.14 and there are some religions that believe 00:15:07.17\00:15:09.14 the day was broken up into 500-year segments. 00:15:09.20\00:15:11.21 Well, you can't even test the theory 00:15:11.24\00:15:13.74 because no plant life could exist 00:15:13.78\00:15:16.24 for 500 years in darkness. 00:15:16.28\00:15:18.11 But the word there makes it very clear: 00:15:18.15\00:15:20.22 evening... morning, evening... morning... 00:15:20.25\00:15:22.25 the cycles of time that God established in creation 00:15:22.28\00:15:25.59 continues to exist today 00:15:25.62\00:15:27.32 even though sin now inhabits our world... 00:15:27.36\00:15:30.36 now, Genesis 2 verses 1 to 3, 00:15:30.43\00:15:32.29 which Ryan is going to be dealing with: the Sabbath... 00:15:32.33\00:15:33.86 I'm just going to mention the text 00:15:33.90\00:15:35.40 but I'm not going to deal with the topic of Sabbath, 00:15:35.43\00:15:37.37 but we find that on the heels of creation, 00:15:37.40\00:15:40.07 the affirmation of God's work is brought about in the verses 00:15:40.10\00:15:45.51 in Genesis chapter 2 verses 1 to 3, 00:15:45.54\00:15:47.34 "Thus the heavens and the earth 00:15:47.38\00:15:49.44 and all the host of them were finished. 00:15:49.48\00:15:51.78 And on the Seventh day God ended His work 00:15:51.81\00:15:53.85 which He had done, 00:15:53.88\00:15:55.22 and He rested on the seventh day from all His work 00:15:55.25\00:15:57.82 which He had done. 00:15:57.85\00:15:59.42 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, 00:15:59.45\00:16:02.66 because in it He rested from all His work 00:16:02.69\00:16:05.23 which God had created and made. " 00:16:05.29\00:16:06.93 And He did that to no other day... 00:16:06.96\00:16:08.53 and I can't wait to hear what you have to say 00:16:08.56\00:16:10.03 about the Sabbath. 00:16:10.07\00:16:11.43 But the question I was asked by the writer of the lesson is, 00:16:11.47\00:16:13.50 "What is implied... what is the implied lesson 00:16:13.54\00:16:16.17 contained in the conclusion of creation?" 00:16:16.20\00:16:18.91 Here are some of the things I came out with. 00:16:18.94\00:16:21.58 What you find is that every step of the creation, 00:16:21.64\00:16:24.68 God evaluates His own work. 00:16:24.71\00:16:26.55 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:16:26.58\00:16:27.92 Lomacang: Now that's powerful, God evaluates... 00:16:27.95\00:16:29.58 and at the end of the day He said, 00:16:29.62\00:16:31.02 "It was good... " 00:16:31.05\00:16:32.55 He continues to evaluate, 00:16:32.59\00:16:34.76 which is the general understanding 00:16:34.79\00:16:36.66 the Hebrew word there is: tov... "tov" meaning good. 00:16:36.69\00:16:40.36 so at the end of every day 00:16:40.40\00:16:41.76 God said, it was "tov" it was good 00:16:41.80\00:16:44.50 generally understanding that the succession of creation 00:16:44.53\00:16:49.27 was the observation that when the Lord created what He did 00:16:49.30\00:16:54.01 on each day... it was good. 00:16:54.08\00:16:55.41 Then another word there meaning: it worked. 00:16:55.44\00:16:59.08 Panel: Hmmm... Lomacang: It worked. 00:16:59.11\00:17:00.72 So... so when you look at the Hebrew word... 00:17:00.75\00:17:03.99 it doesn't just mean that it's good... 00:17:04.02\00:17:05.35 it means: it worked. 00:17:05.39\00:17:06.92 So, what God did on every day... it's still working today. 00:17:06.96\00:17:08.99 Panel: Amen... amen. Lomacang: And it hasn't changed. 00:17:09.02\00:17:11.06 Now, what's wonderful about that... 00:17:11.09\00:17:12.69 James 1:17 says this to us, 00:17:12.73\00:17:14.90 "Every good and every perfect gift is from above, 00:17:14.96\00:17:20.04 and comes down from the Father of lights, 00:17:20.07\00:17:21.70 with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. " 00:17:21.74\00:17:25.04 So, the very word "good... good... good" 00:17:25.07\00:17:27.61 continually at the end of every creation day 00:17:27.64\00:17:30.15 is re-emphasized by James. 00:17:30.18\00:17:31.95 That's what happens when God is involved... 00:17:32.01\00:17:33.92 everything good comes from Him. 00:17:33.95\00:17:36.45 Genesis 1 verse 4, the Bible starts with the illumination, 00:17:36.48\00:17:40.76 "And God saw the light, that it was good; 00:17:40.79\00:17:45.19 and God divided the light from the darkness. 00:17:45.23\00:17:47.83 And He called the light Day, 00:17:47.86\00:17:49.56 and He called the darkness Night. " 00:17:49.60\00:17:51.00 Now, this is something that 00:17:51.03\00:17:52.37 I'd like to develop at a different time 00:17:52.40\00:17:54.27 because people said, "Wait a minute... 00:17:54.30\00:17:56.17 but the sun and the moon were not yet created... " 00:17:56.20\00:17:58.54 which says to God, 00:17:58.57\00:18:00.71 "You don't need a sun and a moon to have light. " 00:18:00.74\00:18:03.81 God created the existence of light 00:18:03.85\00:18:07.02 and the sun and the moon were to govern the light 00:18:07.05\00:18:10.89 not to produce the light. 00:18:10.92\00:18:12.82 The sun and the moon were there to govern the day... 00:18:12.85\00:18:15.49 govern the night but not to produce it. 00:18:15.52\00:18:17.26 God already produced it. 00:18:17.29\00:18:19.29 We also go to the plant life, Genesis 1 verse 12, 00:18:19.33\00:18:22.03 the plants were yielding fruit... 00:18:22.06\00:18:24.20 "And the earth brought forth grass, 00:18:24.27\00:18:26.37 the herb that yields fruit according to its kind, 00:18:26.40\00:18:30.44 and the trees that yield fruit, 00:18:30.47\00:18:32.01 whose seed is in itself according to its kind. 00:18:32.04\00:18:35.34 And God saw that it was good. " 00:18:35.38\00:18:37.75 Now, when you look at the progression of creation, 00:18:37.78\00:18:40.65 it radically contradicts the theories of evolution 00:18:40.72\00:18:43.55 which dogmatically declares that everything happened eventually. 00:18:43.62\00:18:49.32 The way I wrote it down was, 00:18:49.36\00:18:50.99 evolution talks about a progressive creation... 00:18:51.03\00:18:54.16 a successive creation 00:18:54.20\00:18:56.00 that happened on the heels of an accidental explosion. 00:18:56.03\00:18:58.80 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:18:58.83\00:19:00.17 Lomacang: how could such order come out of such chaos? 00:19:00.20\00:19:04.07 Now, an Astrophysicist by the name of: Neil deGrasse Tyson... 00:19:04.11\00:19:07.91 I don't agree with much of what he says 00:19:07.94\00:19:10.15 but this phrase... he really pulled it off when he said, 00:19:10.18\00:19:13.01 and I apply this to those who believe in evolution... 00:19:13.05\00:19:15.85 how strange... he's one of the believers... 00:19:15.88\00:19:17.75 but what he says actually denies the very things he espouses. 00:19:17.82\00:19:20.99 He says, "One of the greatest challenges in life 00:19:21.02\00:19:23.69 is knowing enough to think you're right 00:19:23.73\00:19:25.96 but not enough to know you're wrong. " 00:19:25.99\00:19:28.10 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:19:28.13\00:19:29.46 Lomacang: And that's what's happened to... 00:19:29.53\00:19:30.90 Evolutionists today are saying that the evidences of a God 00:19:30.93\00:19:34.07 who created the world is missing. 00:19:34.20\00:19:36.20 Well, you've got to know what the evidence is that's missing 00:19:36.24\00:19:39.21 to know it's missing. 00:19:39.24\00:19:40.58 But they can't produce... when you ask, "What's missing?" 00:19:40.61\00:19:43.28 they can't tell you what's missing. 00:19:43.35\00:19:44.81 Well, the fact of the matter is, they're trying to find God 00:19:44.85\00:19:47.28 and God cannot be found by humanity. 00:19:47.32\00:19:49.42 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:19:49.45\00:19:50.79 Lomacang: Good news... humanity can be found by God. 00:19:50.82\00:19:53.15 Panel: Amen... amen. 00:19:53.19\00:19:54.52 Lomacang: The Biblical record points it out very clearly 00:19:54.56\00:19:56.79 and Shelley mentioned this, 00:19:56.83\00:19:58.16 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. " 00:19:58.19\00:19:59.93 How did He do it? 00:19:59.96\00:20:01.36 Psalm 33 verses 6 and 9, 00:20:01.40\00:20:02.93 "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, 00:20:02.96\00:20:08.10 and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. 00:20:08.14\00:20:11.31 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; 00:20:11.34\00:20:15.14 He lays up the deep in storehouses. 00:20:15.18\00:20:17.71 Let all the earth fear the Lord; 00:20:17.75\00:20:19.71 Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 00:20:19.75\00:20:23.05 For He spoke, and it was done; 00:20:23.08\00:20:24.59 He commanded, and it stood fast. " 00:20:24.62\00:20:26.82 Only God can create 00:20:26.86\00:20:29.06 and I... I love the way you use that word 00:20:29.09\00:20:31.09 when talking about Elohim. 00:20:31.13\00:20:32.73 When God created "Bara" meant He created out of nothing. 00:20:32.76\00:20:38.23 Panel: That's right. 00:20:38.30\00:20:39.63 Lomacang: Now, we can't create anything out of nothing. 00:20:39.67\00:20:41.30 Shelley: That's right. Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:20:41.34\00:20:42.67 Lomacang: We could say a lot of nothing 00:20:42.70\00:20:44.07 but we can't create anything out of nothing. 00:20:44.11\00:20:45.57 What you said meant nothing but it came from something. 00:20:45.61\00:20:48.68 It came from a mind devoid of understanding. 00:20:48.71\00:20:50.65 We did not become... 00:20:50.71\00:20:52.55 the other part is... we did not become humans... 00:20:52.61\00:20:54.98 we were created humans. Panel: Amen. 00:20:55.02\00:20:58.65 Lomacang: Humanity did not evolve into human. 00:20:58.69\00:21:01.62 How God made creation in the very beginning, 00:21:01.66\00:21:04.43 is how it continues to this very day. 00:21:04.46\00:21:06.73 Obviously, sin has interrupted the perfection of it, 00:21:06.80\00:21:09.76 but Genesis 1 verse 26 talks about this. 00:21:09.80\00:21:12.87 The perfection of the creation of humankind. 00:21:12.90\00:21:15.94 Verse 26, "Then God said, 'Let us make man in Our image, 00:21:15.97\00:21:19.44 according to Our likeness; 00:21:19.47\00:21:21.41 let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, 00:21:21.44\00:21:25.31 over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, 00:21:25.35\00:21:27.95 over all the earth 00:21:27.98\00:21:29.35 and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. '" 00:21:29.38\00:21:32.72 Verse 27, "So God created man in His own image; 00:21:32.75\00:21:37.19 in the image of God He created him; 00:21:37.23\00:21:40.63 male and female He created them. " 00:21:40.66\00:21:43.30 So, when creation was done, 00:21:43.33\00:21:44.77 male and female were here. 00:21:44.80\00:21:47.04 We did not evolve out of an Amoeba or a Paramecium 00:21:47.07\00:21:50.84 that sprung legs and crawled out of a swampy pond 00:21:50.87\00:21:54.61 then over the course of billions of years 00:21:54.64\00:21:56.64 stood up and became a monkey 00:21:56.68\00:21:58.01 that became an ape... that became a man... 00:21:58.05\00:22:00.28 that became a woman... 00:22:00.32\00:22:01.68 you can't get... I don't want to be... 00:22:01.72\00:22:03.89 I don't want to be cynical here 00:22:03.92\00:22:05.75 but if you've seen how wonderful people look, 00:22:05.82\00:22:09.69 don't contribute the beauty of a human... 00:22:09.72\00:22:13.50 the handsomeness of a man and the beauty of a woman 00:22:13.56\00:22:16.03 to a monkey. 00:22:16.06\00:22:17.40 Panel: Hmmm... that's right. Lomacang: It doesn't match. 00:22:17.43\00:22:19.20 It doesn't even make any sense 00:22:19.23\00:22:21.24 and that will by... by the way, 00:22:21.27\00:22:23.20 that's why people behave the way they do. 00:22:23.24\00:22:25.47 You know, the same is also true about the creation of animals. 00:22:25.51\00:22:29.81 Animals did not evolve into what they are today. 00:22:29.84\00:22:33.21 If that were the case, then how did the monkey stop evolving? 00:22:33.25\00:22:36.95 We have other animals that people have said... 00:22:36.99\00:22:39.49 have come from monkeys or come from apes, 00:22:39.52\00:22:42.32 but apes and monkeys still exist 00:22:42.36\00:22:43.89 so, you see the theory is ridiculous. 00:22:43.93\00:22:46.19 That's why Genesis 1 verse 24... 00:22:46.23\00:22:48.10 the Bible says, "Then God said, 00:22:48.13\00:22:49.93 'Let the earth bring forth the living creatures 00:22:49.96\00:22:52.57 according to its kind: 00:22:52.60\00:22:53.94 cattle and creeping things and beast of the earth, 00:22:53.97\00:22:57.17 each according to its kind'; 00:22:57.21\00:22:59.04 and it was so. " 00:22:59.07\00:23:00.51 It worked... and it's still working today. 00:23:00.54\00:23:02.88 So, we find in the Bible also the six references 00:23:02.91\00:23:06.21 to the evening and the morning 00:23:06.25\00:23:07.58 denotes that there was a cycle of time each day 00:23:07.62\00:23:10.49 had a beginning and an end. 00:23:10.52\00:23:13.05 In Genesis 1 verse 6 00:23:13.12\00:23:14.49 talks about the beginning and the end of those days. 00:23:14.52\00:23:16.52 "Then God made two great lights: 00:23:16.56\00:23:18.83 the greater light to rule the day, 00:23:18.86\00:23:20.60 the lesser light to rule the night. 00:23:20.63\00:23:22.73 He made the stars also. " 00:23:22.76\00:23:24.53 Now, in evolution, the theory is 00:23:24.57\00:23:26.90 the big bang unleashed a creative process 00:23:26.94\00:23:30.31 that took millions of years to get to where we are today. 00:23:30.34\00:23:34.18 But the evidence that there was nothing more to be created 00:23:34.21\00:23:38.01 is the word: finished. 00:23:38.05\00:23:40.05 When God finished it, it was finished. 00:23:40.08\00:23:44.05 There was nothing evolutionary to show up 00:23:44.09\00:23:46.86 after God said, "It was finished... " 00:23:46.89\00:23:48.66 it was so finished... He said it was very good. 00:23:48.72\00:23:51.39 If creation was not finished, the seventh day could not exist. 00:23:51.43\00:23:54.93 Panel: That's right... that's right. 00:23:54.96\00:23:56.30 Lomacang: Chew on that for a moment, 00:23:56.33\00:23:57.67 "If creation was not yet done, 00:23:57.70\00:23:59.03 the seventh day could not continue to exist. " 00:23:59.07\00:24:02.17 The seventh day is the capstone of the creation week 00:24:02.20\00:24:06.47 and in just a moment, 00:24:06.51\00:24:07.84 Ryan's going to take charge of that Sabbath day. 00:24:07.88\00:24:09.71 Shelley: Amen, I just have to add one point, 00:24:09.74\00:24:11.75 you know, there's no way that Geologists can date our earth 00:24:11.78\00:24:16.02 because God created everything with a parent age. 00:24:16.05\00:24:18.82 Adam and Eve weren't little babies... 00:24:18.85\00:24:20.89 they were grown, people. 00:24:20.92\00:24:22.59 Plants... trees were grown, so, oh, God's Word is perfect. 00:24:22.62\00:24:28.00 We'll be back in just 30 seconds stay tuned. 00:24:28.03\00:24:31.23 Music... 00:24:31.27\00:24:34.94 Ever wish you could watch a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again 00:24:34.97\00:24:39.47 or share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? 00:24:39.51\00:24:42.84 Well, you can by visiting 3abnsabbathschoolpanel. com 00:24:42.88\00:24:47.78 A clean design makes it easy 00:24:47.82\00:24:50.29 to find the Program you're looking for. 00:24:50.32\00:24:52.25 There are also links to the Adult Bible Study Guide 00:24:52.29\00:24:55.82 so you can follow along. 00:24:55.86\00:24:57.23 Sharing is easy. 00:24:57.26\00:24:58.79 Just click "Share" and choose your favorite Social Media. 00:24:58.83\00:25:02.10 Share a Link... Save a Life for Eternity. 00:25:02.13\00:25:05.47 Shelley: Now, we will continue our study for Tuesday 00:25:05.50\00:25:08.54 with Ryan Day. 00:25:08.57\00:25:10.31 Ryan: Amen... praise the Lord, I'm Ryan Day... 00:25:10.37\00:25:11.87 and I have Tuesday's Lesson and it's entitled: The Sabbath 00:25:11.91\00:25:14.94 and I'm so blessed to have this lesson 00:25:14.98\00:25:17.48 because you know, the Sabbath message... 00:25:17.51\00:25:18.98 the truth of the Sabbath... 00:25:19.01\00:25:20.35 the blessing of the Sabbath has just changed my life. 00:25:20.38\00:25:23.42 I wasn't always... and haven't always been a Sabbath Keeper 00:25:23.45\00:25:26.19 according to the Biblical message. 00:25:26.22\00:25:28.12 God showed that to me later in life as an early adult... 00:25:28.16\00:25:31.29 a young adult 00:25:31.33\00:25:32.69 and it has just tremendously changed my life for the better 00:25:32.73\00:25:36.40 and so, I want to... I don't want to take much time, 00:25:36.43\00:25:38.80 I want to jump right into the text 00:25:38.83\00:25:40.17 because actually, Tuesday's lesson dives us right into 00:25:40.20\00:25:43.20 Genesis chapter 2. 00:25:43.24\00:25:44.94 I want to thank Pastor Lomacang and Shelley 00:25:44.97\00:25:47.14 for giving us a great setup for this 00:25:47.18\00:25:48.68 because now we'll get to talk about 00:25:48.74\00:25:50.21 the capstone of creation week... 00:25:50.25\00:25:51.78 of God's beautiful rest day. 00:25:51.81\00:25:53.68 So, Genesis chapter 2, 00:25:53.72\00:25:55.18 we're going to read verses 1 through 3, 00:25:55.22\00:25:56.55 and notice what the Bible says, 00:25:56.58\00:25:57.99 Genesis chapter 2 verses 1 through 3 says, 00:25:58.02\00:26:00.66 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 00:26:00.69\00:26:02.02 and all the host of them, were finished. 00:26:02.06\00:26:04.73 And on the seventh day 00:26:04.76\00:26:06.33 God ended His work which He had done, 00:26:06.36\00:26:09.20 and He rested on the seventh day from all His work 00:26:09.23\00:26:12.67 which He had done. 00:26:12.70\00:26:14.04 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, 00:26:14.07\00:26:17.37 because in it He had rested from all His work 00:26:17.41\00:26:20.11 which He had created and made. " 00:26:20.14\00:26:23.24 And I just have to emphasize this 00:26:23.28\00:26:24.61 because there may be someone watching right now 00:26:24.65\00:26:26.11 that has never heard this truth... 00:26:26.15\00:26:27.48 never heard the truth about the Sabbath. 00:26:27.52\00:26:29.18 The beautiful thing to note here 00:26:29.22\00:26:30.79 which we often like to bring out 00:26:30.82\00:26:32.29 is that when you're studying this beautiful creation week, 00:26:32.32\00:26:34.52 God is doing this like a Painter on a beautiful canvas, 00:26:34.56\00:26:37.46 He's just doing all of this beautiful work 00:26:37.49\00:26:39.76 on each and every creation day... 00:26:39.79\00:26:41.50 just all of this beautiful creation 00:26:41.53\00:26:43.47 on each and individual day 00:26:43.50\00:26:44.83 but by the time He gets to the seventh day, 00:26:44.87\00:26:46.80 He does three things as this text just brought out 00:26:46.84\00:26:49.70 three things on the seventh day 00:26:49.74\00:26:51.07 that He did not do on any of the previous creation days 00:26:51.11\00:26:53.91 and so, now when He gets to the Sabbath, 00:26:53.94\00:26:55.81 He rests... that's the first thing... He rests... 00:26:55.84\00:26:58.01 He... and the word there is Shabbath... 00:26:58.05\00:26:59.51 He rests He is Sabbath... 00:26:59.55\00:27:00.92 that's where we get the word "Sabbath" from. 00:27:00.95\00:27:03.42 He rested... He blessed the seventh day. 00:27:03.45\00:27:05.85 That's not to say that the other days aren't a blessing, 00:27:05.89\00:27:08.52 right? Every day should be a blessing 00:27:08.56\00:27:10.49 but on that particular day, God placed a special blessing 00:27:10.53\00:27:13.40 on this seventh day 00:27:13.43\00:27:14.96 and now, the third thing of course, is 00:27:15.00\00:27:17.57 that He sanctified it... 00:27:17.60\00:27:19.13 He made it holy... He set it apart... 00:27:19.17\00:27:21.64 He sanctified it and that's what "sanctified" means, 00:27:21.67\00:27:23.74 He set it apart for a holy use. 00:27:23.77\00:27:25.81 He set it apart from the other six, 00:27:25.84\00:27:27.78 He said, "Look, these are the days that I worked... 00:27:27.81\00:27:29.54 these are the days that I created... I done my labor, 00:27:29.58\00:27:32.35 but the seventh day is now set apart for a holy use, 00:27:32.38\00:27:35.15 it's declared holy... it's a holy day. 00:27:35.18\00:27:37.65 When God makes something holy, 00:27:37.69\00:27:39.02 how are you going to reverse that? 00:27:39.05\00:27:40.39 Panel: Amen. 00:27:40.42\00:27:41.76 Ryan: You can't reverse that whatsoever, 00:27:41.79\00:27:43.12 so, this is why we should be emphasizing 00:27:43.16\00:27:44.49 and bringing out the blessing and the holiness... 00:27:44.53\00:27:46.33 the sanctity of the Sabbath day 00:27:46.36\00:27:48.56 and we know that this continues on. 00:27:48.60\00:27:50.63 God's commandments including the Sabbath commandment, 00:27:50.67\00:27:52.83 continues on for creation. 00:27:52.87\00:27:54.57 I've even have people say, "You know, Ryan, 00:27:54.60\00:27:56.27 you know, Sabbath doesn't really come along 00:27:56.30\00:27:57.91 until the commandments in Mount Sinai, 00:27:57.94\00:27:59.81 but we know that the commandments pre-date Sinai 00:27:59.84\00:28:02.38 because we see right there in the 26th chapter of Genesis, 00:28:02.44\00:28:04.85 which we'll get to when we talk about Abraham, 00:28:04.88\00:28:06.82 and how Abraham was obedient to all of God's commandments 00:28:06.88\00:28:09.92 and to God's voice. 00:28:09.95\00:28:11.29 Even in the 16th chapter of Exodus, we see the Sabbath... 00:28:11.32\00:28:14.12 God's saying, "How long do you refuse to keep my laws?" 00:28:14.16\00:28:17.33 And this was before He had given the Decalogue 00:28:17.36\00:28:19.46 or the formal Ten Commandments on the tablets of stone 00:28:19.49\00:28:22.93 and so the Sabbath has always been a blessing since creation 00:28:22.96\00:28:26.30 and He wants all of His people to... 00:28:26.33\00:28:28.40 to participate in that blessing. 00:28:28.44\00:28:30.41 Now, let's go read the command itself, 00:28:30.44\00:28:32.84 because as we often call these the Ten Commandments, 00:28:32.87\00:28:35.04 they're really... and we've said this often as well 00:28:35.08\00:28:37.15 and I just want to emphasize it... it's the ten freedoms. 00:28:37.21\00:28:40.32 God is setting His people free from 400 years of bondage 00:28:40.35\00:28:43.42 in Egypt... and He's saying, "Look, 00:28:43.49\00:28:45.02 I want to now give you the freedom 00:28:45.05\00:28:46.59 to rest on My holy day... 00:28:46.62\00:28:48.72 work six days... yes... 00:28:48.76\00:28:50.66 but rest on My holy day... " 00:28:50.73\00:28:52.49 and so, He emphasizes the... the significance of the Sabbath 00:28:52.56\00:28:55.50 in Exodus chapter 20, verses 8 through 11, 00:28:55.53\00:28:58.50 Exodus 20 verses 8 through 11, 00:28:58.53\00:29:00.60 this is the Sabbath commandment... 00:29:00.64\00:29:02.17 God is verbally speaking this and He tells them, 00:29:02.20\00:29:04.54 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 00:29:04.57\00:29:07.58 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 00:29:07.61\00:29:10.45 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. 00:29:10.48\00:29:12.81 In it you shall do no work: 00:29:12.85\00:29:15.32 you, nor your son, nor your daughter, 00:29:15.35\00:29:18.45 nor your male servant, nor your female servant, 00:29:18.49\00:29:21.02 not your cattle, 00:29:21.06\00:29:22.39 nor your stranger who is within your gates... " 00:29:22.42\00:29:24.26 and then He tells us why we keep it holy. 00:29:24.29\00:29:26.53 "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, 00:29:26.56\00:29:29.83 the sea, and all that in them is, 00:29:29.86\00:29:31.83 and rested the seventh day. 00:29:31.87\00:29:33.34 Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. " 00:29:33.37\00:29:37.67 I love it... the first verse there... verse 8, 00:29:37.71\00:29:40.11 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy... " 00:29:40.14\00:29:41.78 the general command... God wants us to remember it... 00:29:41.81\00:29:44.48 He wants us to honor it, 00:29:44.51\00:29:45.85 He wants us to keep it holy. 00:29:45.88\00:29:47.22 How do we do that? Verses 9 and 10, 00:29:47.25\00:29:49.68 we rest and allow others to rest 00:29:49.72\00:29:52.15 in our control... within our gates... 00:29:52.19\00:29:54.16 within our property... 00:29:54.19\00:29:55.52 if we have control over that, we should rest. 00:29:55.56\00:29:57.69 We should allow others to receive the blessing of rest 00:29:57.73\00:30:00.53 and then, of course, why do we keep the Sabbath holy? 00:30:00.56\00:30:03.40 Not because God's just trying to put some oppressive... 00:30:03.43\00:30:06.20 like... you can't do this and you can't do that 00:30:06.23\00:30:07.67 and you can't... a lot of people see the Sabbath as a... 00:30:07.70\00:30:10.34 as a curse or as a... as a... as a heavy drudgery 00:30:10.37\00:30:13.44 that they can't do all of these things 00:30:13.48\00:30:14.81 but God says, "No, no, no, no, no, 00:30:14.84\00:30:16.18 it's much more... 00:30:16.21\00:30:17.55 it's farther beyond just the 'rest' aspect... 00:30:17.58\00:30:19.88 it's a memorial of Creation. " 00:30:19.91\00:30:22.12 Lomacang: That's right. 00:30:22.15\00:30:23.49 Ryan: When we... we keep the Sabbath holy, 00:30:23.52\00:30:25.55 we're remembering God's creative work, 00:30:25.59\00:30:27.76 His amazing creative work 00:30:27.79\00:30:29.12 and Him as the Creator of the universe. 00:30:29.16\00:30:31.39 It's all right there even in the general commandment 00:30:31.43\00:30:34.03 and... and, you know, the Sabbath... 00:30:34.06\00:30:35.40 the... the lesson brings this out, 00:30:35.43\00:30:36.77 I'm going to read this portion here 00:30:36.80\00:30:38.13 because this is really, really nice. 00:30:38.17\00:30:39.53 The Sabbath is also a way in which we... 00:30:39.57\00:30:41.24 it's a reminder in which we can take care of our... ourselves... 00:30:41.27\00:30:44.24 our bodies... our lives... 00:30:44.27\00:30:45.74 notice what the Lesson brings here 00:30:45.77\00:30:47.21 and I have to read this, it says, 00:30:47.24\00:30:48.64 "We can rest from our works just as God had rested from His. 00:30:48.68\00:30:52.65 Sabbath-keeping means saying "yes" to God's 00:30:52.68\00:30:56.35 very good creation 00:30:56.38\00:30:58.05 which includes our physical bodies. 00:30:58.09\00:30:59.82 Contrary to some ancient and modern beliefs, 00:30:59.85\00:31:02.89 nothing in Scripture... Old or New Testament 00:31:02.92\00:31:05.96 denigrates the body as evil... " 00:31:05.99\00:31:08.96 and so, it goes on to say that's a pagan concept 00:31:09.00\00:31:11.23 not a Biblical one. 00:31:11.27\00:31:12.60 Instead, Sabbath-keepers are grateful for God's creation 00:31:12.63\00:31:15.80 which includes their own flesh, right 00:31:15.84\00:31:18.27 and that is why they can enjoy the creation 00:31:18.31\00:31:21.11 and what they... and why they care of it. 00:31:21.14\00:31:23.91 We are, we are... we are the... the temple of the Holy Spirit 00:31:23.95\00:31:27.28 and the Bible makes that very clear 00:31:27.32\00:31:28.95 and we need that rest... 00:31:28.98\00:31:30.45 the Sabbath rest is a... is a delight... it should be a joy. 00:31:30.49\00:31:33.82 It's a way for us to... to re-energize 00:31:33.86\00:31:36.42 and to take a pause from our busy life 00:31:36.46\00:31:38.86 and to be able to get that spiritual and physical rest 00:31:38.89\00:31:41.93 that we need each and every... each and every week. 00:31:41.96\00:31:44.93 It's a sign... the Sabbath... 00:31:44.97\00:31:46.94 I love this too... it's beautiful, 00:31:46.97\00:31:48.30 it's a sign of hope for suffering humanity 00:31:48.34\00:31:51.54 and for the groaning of the world. 00:31:51.57\00:31:53.84 Now, this comes obviously Post Fall, right, 00:31:53.88\00:31:56.44 when sin enters the world 00:31:56.51\00:31:58.21 but each and every week 00:31:58.28\00:31:59.91 now that we're living in this sinful world, 00:31:59.95\00:32:01.52 it's a reminder that... that it's a sign of hope 00:32:01.55\00:32:04.62 for suffering humanity. 00:32:04.65\00:32:06.19 We even see this within the context of, you know, 00:32:06.22\00:32:08.82 right there in the beginning of creation 00:32:08.89\00:32:10.43 where it says, "God finished His work. " 00:32:10.46\00:32:11.99 He finished His work 00:32:12.06\00:32:13.40 but then you see the same phrasing... same words 00:32:13.43\00:32:16.03 that are used in Exodus chapter 40 verse 33, 00:32:16.06\00:32:18.83 when Moses... they finished building the sanctuary, 00:32:18.87\00:32:22.34 the tabernacle... 00:32:22.37\00:32:23.71 we see it again within the context of the sanctuary 00:32:23.74\00:32:26.04 in 1st Kings chapter 7 verses 40 and 51, 00:32:26.07\00:32:29.01 during the building of Solomon's Temple 00:32:29.04\00:32:31.91 or we call it Solomon's Temple, it's the Lord's Temple... 00:32:31.95\00:32:34.08 but nonetheless, we see very clearly there 00:32:34.12\00:32:35.98 that in the finishing of that work, 00:32:36.02\00:32:38.59 the blessing of the Sabbath is a reminder... 00:32:38.62\00:32:41.32 it points us to salvation and redemption 00:32:41.36\00:32:43.96 and the fact that when you think of the sanctuary message, 00:32:43.99\00:32:46.06 it's progressive 00:32:46.09\00:32:47.86 and the progressive message the... 00:32:47.90\00:32:49.66 the salvation message and the sanctuary 00:32:49.70\00:32:51.23 is leading us to a time when we will have... 00:32:51.27\00:32:53.44 when we will have eternal spiritual rest in God. 00:32:53.47\00:32:56.81 It's progressively leading us to the very presence of God... 00:32:56.84\00:32:59.87 we can dwell with Him... 00:32:59.94\00:33:01.48 and we no longer have to have these degraded dying bodies 00:33:01.51\00:33:04.31 but when we rest each week on the Sabbath, 00:33:04.35\00:33:07.02 it points forward to the beautiful blessing 00:33:07.05\00:33:09.55 of... of... of the hope that we have 00:33:09.58\00:33:11.35 that God is going to make things new. 00:33:11.39\00:33:13.05 After the fall, the Sabbath at the end of the week 00:33:13.12\00:33:15.82 points to the miracle of salvation as we brought out 00:33:15.86\00:33:18.53 which will take place... notice, 00:33:18.56\00:33:20.00 only through the miracle of a new creation 00:33:20.03\00:33:23.06 which we see in Isaiah 65 verse 17 as well... 00:33:23.10\00:33:26.07 Revelation chapter 21, 00:33:26.13\00:33:27.47 we see the new heaven and the new earth... 00:33:27.50\00:33:29.44 the Sabbath is a sign... it's a symbol of hope, 00:33:29.47\00:33:32.14 we look forward to this... 00:33:32.17\00:33:33.54 when we keep the Sabbath holy, 00:33:33.58\00:33:34.91 and we honor it according to the Bible, 00:33:34.94\00:33:36.51 we're also remembering the fact and honoring the fact 00:33:36.54\00:33:39.58 that the beautiful promise and hope that we have 00:33:39.61\00:33:41.48 that God is going to come back 00:33:41.52\00:33:43.02 and He's going to make all things new 00:33:43.08\00:33:45.05 powerful... powerful truth. 00:33:45.09\00:33:46.52 The Sabbath is a sign at the end of our human week 00:33:46.55\00:33:49.26 that the suffering and trials of this world 00:33:49.29\00:33:51.59 will have an end as well. 00:33:51.63\00:33:54.06 There's so much more... my time is clicking away here, 00:33:54.10\00:33:56.30 there's so much more that we can highlight here, 00:33:56.33\00:33:58.77 I had a whole section that I'm not going to be able to read, 00:33:58.80\00:34:00.97 but you know this... all of this truth 00:34:01.00\00:34:02.80 and I'm going to end on this. 00:34:02.84\00:34:04.17 All of this truth is also emphasized 00:34:04.21\00:34:06.34 and very clearly communicated 00:34:06.37\00:34:08.04 in the fact that Jesus cares for suffering humanity. 00:34:08.08\00:34:11.45 He cares for our groanings. 00:34:11.48\00:34:12.95 In fact, the lesson brings out that Jesus chose the Sabbath 00:34:12.98\00:34:16.05 as the most appropriate day to do all of His healing 00:34:16.08\00:34:19.69 and there's so many different Scriptural examples of this 00:34:19.72\00:34:22.06 but Luke 13 00:34:22.09\00:34:23.43 which I'm not going to have time to read these verses, 00:34:23.46\00:34:25.26 but Luke chapter 13 verses 10 through 17, 00:34:25.29\00:34:27.73 we see very clearly there's a lady with... 00:34:27.76\00:34:30.20 with... with an infirmity there 00:34:30.23\00:34:31.83 and Jesus heals her on the Sabbath. 00:34:31.87\00:34:33.54 One of the Synagogue rulers... it says there in verse 14, 00:34:33.57\00:34:36.37 "But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, 00:34:36.40\00:34:39.21 because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; 00:34:39.24\00:34:40.74 and he said to the crowd, 00:34:40.78\00:34:42.11 'There are six days in which man ought to work; 00:34:42.14\00:34:44.21 therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath'." 00:34:44.25\00:34:47.08 Jesus rebukes these brothers 00:34:47.12\00:34:48.58 and He goes on to say, "You hypocrite! 00:34:48.62\00:34:50.29 Does not each one of you on the Sabbath 00:34:50.32\00:34:52.72 loose his ox or his donkey from the stall, 00:34:52.75\00:34:55.12 and lead it away to water? 00:34:55.16\00:34:56.49 So ought not this woman be of the daughter of Abraham, 00:34:56.52\00:34:59.89 whom Satan had bound... 00:34:59.96\00:35:01.30 think of it... for eighteen years, 00:35:01.33\00:35:02.96 be loosed of this bond on the Sabbath?" 00:35:03.03\00:35:06.80 Jesus said it was better to do good on the Sabbath. 00:35:06.84\00:35:09.60 Why? because He's the Lord of the Sabbath. 00:35:09.64\00:35:11.61 My Friends, the Sabbath is a blessing. 00:35:11.64\00:35:13.38 We should receive it as an exquisite delight 00:35:13.41\00:35:15.54 and I hope that you also in your studies 00:35:15.58\00:35:17.71 learn that it can be a blessing for you. 00:35:17.75\00:35:19.85 Panel: Amen... praise the Lord. 00:35:19.91\00:35:21.38 Kenny: Okay, we're going to go into Wednesday's lesson 00:35:21.42\00:35:23.92 but boy! you guys really set it up. 00:35:23.95\00:35:25.55 We're going to go to Wednesday's lesson, 00:35:25.59\00:35:27.19 it's going to be talking about: The Creation of Humanity. 00:35:27.26\00:35:29.62 To me, it's just... 00:35:29.69\00:35:31.29 to me, it was awesome just to go back and to be refreshed 00:35:31.33\00:35:33.83 and to learn some things about creation. 00:35:33.90\00:35:36.20 If you have your Bibles, be sure and turn with me... 00:35:36.26\00:35:37.97 Genesis chapter 1... 00:35:38.00\00:35:39.33 I think couple of these verses have been read 00:35:39.37\00:35:41.37 but I want to read them again just in case you missed it 00:35:41.40\00:35:43.20 so, we set up a good foundation, Genesis chapter 1:26, 27, and 00:35:43.24\00:35:48.18 28. These will be very familiar verses 00:35:48.21\00:35:50.25 that most of you probably have memorized. 00:35:50.28\00:35:52.01 The Bible says... I love to say that... 00:35:52.05\00:35:53.62 the Bible says, 00:35:53.65\00:35:54.98 "And God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, 00:35:55.02\00:35:57.19 and in our likeness; 00:35:57.22\00:35:58.55 and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, 00:35:58.59\00:36:02.06 and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle, 00:36:02.09\00:36:04.83 over all the earth 00:36:04.86\00:36:06.26 and over every creeping thing that creepeth on the earth. 00:36:06.29\00:36:09.36 So God created man in His own image; 00:36:09.40\00:36:12.50 in the image of God created He him; 00:36:12.53\00:36:14.97 male and female created He them. " 00:36:15.00\00:36:17.11 Notice verse 28, it says, 00:36:17.17\00:36:19.01 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, 00:36:19.04\00:36:21.91 'Be fruitful and multiply, 00:36:21.94\00:36:23.38 and replenish the earth, and subdue it: 00:36:23.41\00:36:26.01 and have dominion over the fish of the sea, 00:36:26.05\00:36:28.18 and over the fowl of the air, 00:36:28.22\00:36:29.55 and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. '" 00:36:29.58\00:36:33.32 Well, I like the way it starts out, verse 26, "God said... " 00:36:33.36\00:36:37.23 He said, "Let us make... let us make man in our image" 00:36:37.26\00:36:43.63 and so, you look at that word "image" as... 00:36:43.67\00:36:45.90 it's... it's... it's quite a challenging word 00:36:45.93\00:36:48.14 but yet it has some real depth and meaning to it. 00:36:48.17\00:36:50.14 When you say "image" there it's talking about 00:36:50.21\00:36:52.54 the... the knowledge... God gave man knowledge 00:36:52.57\00:36:54.64 and... you know, where he can reason things out. 00:36:54.68\00:36:56.68 It has to do with righteousness, 00:36:56.71\00:36:58.85 it has to do with true holiness 00:36:58.88\00:37:00.95 and I'd like to add something here to me... it's... 00:37:00.98\00:37:03.15 it's... it's happiness, you know, 00:37:03.18\00:37:05.62 because in the very beginning, before sin... 00:37:05.65\00:37:07.79 we mentioned that before sin, Adam and Eve, you know, 00:37:07.82\00:37:11.09 they were holy beings 00:37:11.13\00:37:12.79 and they were happy beings. 00:37:12.86\00:37:14.60 God said, "Let's make man in Our image. " 00:37:14.63\00:37:17.00 So, man was made... interesting... 00:37:17.03\00:37:19.13 man was made last... right, of all the creatures 00:37:19.17\00:37:23.47 and now... now I know why. 00:37:23.51\00:37:25.47 I finally figured this one out. 00:37:25.51\00:37:27.41 So that we can look at Scriptures like 00:37:27.44\00:37:32.01 Job chapter 38 verse 4, 00:37:32.05\00:37:33.78 I know I'm funning here a little bit 00:37:33.82\00:37:35.88 but notice what it says, what does it say? 00:37:35.92\00:37:37.29 This is going to fit. 00:37:37.32\00:37:39.45 It says, "Where wast thou 00:37:39.49\00:37:41.39 when I lay the foundation of the earth? 00:37:41.42\00:37:43.56 Declare, if thou has understanding. " 00:37:43.59\00:37:45.89 To me that makes sense, right, 00:37:45.93\00:37:47.90 Man can get... when there's a little discussion here 00:37:47.93\00:37:49.70 between Job and God, we realize 00:37:49.73\00:37:51.67 God's going to be pointing to all of us 00:37:51.70\00:37:53.13 and he did to man and said, 00:37:53.17\00:37:54.54 "Now, where were you?" Right? 00:37:54.57\00:37:55.90 "All this stuff was made before you got here. " 00:37:55.94\00:37:59.34 Everything your little heart desires is here for you. 00:37:59.37\00:38:03.28 His ways are past finding out I think in Romans 11:33... 00:38:03.35\00:38:07.22 His ways are past finding out yet men... men try 00:38:07.25\00:38:10.85 but, you know, we can't find out God, 00:38:10.89\00:38:12.89 we can't find out all of these things, 00:38:12.92\00:38:14.86 but praise God He's left enough that we can understand 00:38:14.89\00:38:17.43 and... and certainly, He can find us. 00:38:17.46\00:38:19.19 As soon as man was created, he had everything, 00:38:19.23\00:38:23.10 I notice, everything that He wanted 00:38:23.13\00:38:25.20 because it was pretty much done. 00:38:25.23\00:38:27.27 So now, the... the... 00:38:27.30\00:38:28.97 something else I want to bring out, 00:38:29.00\00:38:30.34 He said, "Let us make man... " 00:56:03.79\00:56:06.56 Yes, we should keep the Sabbath 00:56:06.59\00:56:07.93 but first, we should also lead each other 00:56:07.96\00:56:10.07 to the Lord of the Sabbath 00:56:10.13\00:56:11.47 so, Jesus first and then the Sabbath, amen. 00:56:11.50\00:56:13.94 Kenny: Amen, praise the Lord. 00:56:13.97\00:56:15.84 You know, God's thoughts toward us are still the same 00:56:15.87\00:56:18.54 as from the very beginning of time. 00:56:18.57\00:56:20.24 We read that in Jeremiah 29:11, 00:56:20.28\00:56:22.41 it says, "I have thoughts of peace... and not of evil. " 00:56:57.18\00:57:00.92 all you've got to do look at what goes on 00:57:00.95\00:57:04.25 when we get into the patriarchal history 00:57:04.29\00:57:08.22 and see how Abraham had obedient faith 00:57:08.26\00:57:12.16 and how God renewed the covenant 00:57:12.19\00:57:15.26 with his son, Isaac, 00:57:15.30\00:57:17.73 in... in Genesis... let me see... 00:57:17.77\00:57:21.04 that's 26 and verse 5, 00:57:21.07\00:57:23.61 let me read that to you, Genesis 26 verse 5, 00:57:23.64\00:57:26.57 He's renewing the covenant with Isaac... 00:57:26.61\00:57:29.51 "because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, 00:57:29.54\00:57:34.38 My commandments, My statutes and My laws. " 00:57:34.42\00:57:38.19 So, don't think that Moses laid out all of the details... 00:57:38.25\00:57:43.66 if you put 2,000 years of history in 11 chapters, 00:57:43.69\00:57:47.23 that's pretty significant distillation. 00:57:47.26\00:57:50.57 We hope that you will join us next week 00:57:50.60\00:57:53.67 for Lesson Number 2: The Fall... 00:57:53.70\00:57:56.37 until then may God bless you richly. 00:57:56.40\00:57:59.77 Panel: Amen. 00:57:59.81\00:58:01.14
