Now Genesis takes
us to the beginning,

in the beginning, God
created heavens and the earth,

pretty much our
solar system, our world,

the place that we call home.

But then John goes further
in the beginning was the Word

and the Word was with God,

he goes even
further back than that.

And then Hebrews talks
about the Lord through His Son,

creating the worlds
and astronomers tell it

that there are
billions of galaxies,

which if we are
faithful, one day,

we'll get a chance to
visit, maybe all of them

because that's
what immortal life

gives us the opportunity to do.

So let's look at Hebrews 1:2-3

When you read that
texts you don't realize

him to show the world

the expressed
image of the Father.

And then his ministry, his
death, burial resurrection,

then sitting down at
the right hand of majesty,

two verses that takes us through

quite a bit of space and time.

When you think about

the beginning
story of the Bible,

we call The Great
Controversy the unfolding

of the lineage of humanity

as well as the
conflict between good and evil.

We find right after
Adam and Eve sinned,

God made a promise.

And the promise was he
was going to send a seed,

who would
deliver all of humanity

from the woes of
sin as Romans 3:23 says,

"For all have sinned
00:05:50.15\00:05:50.18
and fallen short
of the glory of God."

Also, 1 Corinthians 15:22,
00:05:54.15\00:05:54.18
speaking about the
best Adam could give us,

"As in Adam all
die, but the converse,
00:05:59.02\00:05:59.05
even so in Christ
all shall be made alive."

There are many contrast
scriptures in the Bible.
00:06:05.13\00:06:05.16
1 Corinthians
15:22 is one of them.

Another one is Romans 6:23,
"For the wages of sin is death,

but the gift of
God is eternal life
00:06:15.74\00:06:15.77
through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Now these
contrasting scriptures show us
00:06:19.94\00:06:19.97
what we deserve and
what we don't deserve.

It shows us the
plight of humanity,

and the promise of divinity.

And so today we're
going to walk through

some aspects of how God works,

but then we're
going to look about

In These Last Days,

which is the focus
of Sunday's lesson,

We know if we've been
studying the Word of God,

that the Lord has
been speaking through

apostles and prophets

and evangelists and
pastors and teachers

throughout the ages,

but in these last days,

the message is so
vitally important,

that we can dive down
to the Book of Revelation

and see the
revelation of Jesus Christ,

He is speaking
directly to us through the Son

about the final act
in the drama of the ages.

Let's look at Acts 2:17
00:07:07.92\00:07:07.96
and see how this
promise includes all
00:07:10.56\00:07:10.59
who are open to
being used of God.

Acts 2:17,

"And it shall come to
pass in the last day says, God,
00:07:17.97\00:07:18.00
that I will pour out
My spirit on all flesh,
00:07:20.60\00:07:20.64
your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy,
00:07:23.97\00:07:24.01
your young men
shall see visions,
00:07:27.01\00:07:27.04
your old men
shall dream dreams."

And then we find,

"On My
menservant and maidservant,

Spirit in those days

and they will prophesy."

So we're living in a day and age

where prophecy is
a significant part

of how this
controversy is going to end.

One of the first
prophecies in scripture,

however, is in
the Book of Genesis.

Look at Genesis 3:15,

the prophecy
that show generations

long after Adam,

that the promise the
Lord made in the garden

is going to be fulfilled,

not only through his life,
00:08:01.24\00:08:01.28
but in the final
eradication of sin.

Genesis 3:15,

"I will put enmity
between you and the woman,"

speaking to the serpent,
00:08:10.42\00:08:10.45
"and between your
seed and her Seed,

he shall bruise your head,
00:08:14.79\00:08:14.82
and you shall bruise His heel."

Now if you want
to kill somebody,

you don't hang him by the
heel, hang him by the head.

In this case, the
Lord is talking about

the ultimate victory of a Satan,

but in the process,

he's going to
receive a sustaining wound

that is for his heel,

meaning it will
hinder to some degree,

the beautiful,
unmarred glorious Christ

and throughout ceaseless ages,

we will see what our
redemption has caused.

That's why people say,
well, salvation is free.

I say no, it's not.

It's expensive.

It has cost God everything.

And Jesus gave us His best,

but it's a gift
to us, free to us,

but by no means,
if you get a gift.

Don't ever think it's free.

It does cause something to make,

and something to purchase.

spiritual fulfillment

of that prophecy

Now the devil knows
that the Lord was victorious

because the Bible says he knows

that he has but a short time.

So he knows that
his time is limited

because the Lord
defeated him at the cross,

but more specifically
because of the empty tomb

that victory was complete.

But then not only
defeating the devil,

but also bringing
freedom to all of those

who are all their lifetime,

in fear of bondage,

held and held captive by habits

or even just by the thought
of what was in their past.

But let's look at a
couple of more prophecies

that the Bible talks about
a prophecy and a fulfillment.

Another one we get is
in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-16.

Just look at that very quickly,
prophecy and fulfillment.

Okay, "For this we say to you,"

and we don't often
think of this as a prophecy,

but in fact it is
00:10:36.30\00:10:36.33
because it has not
yet been fulfilled.

"For this we say to you
by the word of the Lord,

that we who are alive and remain

until the coming of the Lord

will by no means
proceed those who are asleep."

Verse 16, "For the Lord Himself

will descend from
heaven with a shout,

with the voice of an archangel,
with the trumpet of God.

Now let's look
at the confirmation

of the fulfillment.

order, Christ the firstfruits,

afterward those who are Christ's

And then let's look
at another prophecy,

"When He puts an end to all rule

authority and all power."

So we're looking
forward to the day

when the Lord puts
an end to all rule,

all authority, and all power,

when He really
delivers all of us

and delivers us to the Father,

as He delivers the
kingdom to the Father.

The kingdom is not
physical dimensions

of the building.

The kingdom, in
fact, is made up of

sons and daughters of God,

who are finally freed
from the eternal bondage

Let's look at another prophecy.

Isaiah 65:17,

looking at
prophecy and fulfillment.

Isaiah 65:17, "For behold,

I create new
heavens and a new earth,

and the former
shall not be remembered

nor come to mind."

Now that's the
confirmation that one day

there will be a new
heaven and new earth,

but let's look at

the spiritual
fulfillment of that

because not only is Lord
going to make new heavens

and new earth,

but look what
Paul the Apostle says

in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

"Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ,

he is a new creation,
00:12:22.94\00:12:22.97
old things have passed away,

behold, all
things have become new."

That's here and that is now.

The Apostle Paul confirms that
once again in Galatians 6:15,

"For in Christ
Jesus neither circumcision

nor
uncircumcision avails anything,

but a new creation."

So we are new
creations in Christ,

not in the new earth alone,

but we are new creations
in Christ, even right now.

We can experience that new life,

we can look forward to the day

when all things are made new.

I talked about we are delivered
from the penalty of sin,

from the power
of sin, and finally,

from the presence of sin.

That's a prophecy

that I'm looking
forward to being fulfilled.

One more prophecy very
quickly in Daniel 2:44.

"In the days of these
kings the God of heaven
00:13:11.45\00:13:11.49
will set up a kingdom
00:13:13.29\00:13:13.32
which shall never be destroyed,
00:13:14.46\00:13:14.49
and the kingdom shall
not be left to other people,

it shall break in pieces
and consume all these kingdoms,

and it shall stand forever."

Now let's look at
the spiritual fulfillment

because we know
that's the future.

That's what's going to happen.

God is going to
establish a permanent kingdom,

but look at the words
of Jesus, in Luke 17:20-21.

with us by the prophets,

and that communication
has only intensified

down through the ages.

In other words,
God has not lessened

His communication,

increased His communication

because the
lack of communication

is an evidence of,

well, let's say, a spirit

or an attitude of abandonment.

When you don't
communicate, you have abandoned,

you have walked away from,

discontinued relationship.

And that's kind of what happened

in the Garden of Eden.

When we go back
to the Garden of Eden

we see implied there
clearly that Adam and Eve

walked with God in the
cool of the evening every day.

And one day God comes

and He's
looking for Adam and Eve

in the normal location

where they meet
together and talk together

about the day's activities.

And they weren't there.

And so God
starts calling for them.

God is a communicator,
"Adam, Eve, where are you?

Where are you?"

Are they so busy that

and, of course, God
knows where they are.

And God knows what has happened,

but God is working
through this whole process

for our sake

because God is trying to tell us

as fallen human
beings that even though

we stopped
communicating with Him,

even though we abandon Him,

and in that case,
00:16:50.14\00:16:50.17
it was because
they were afraid of Him.

God has not stopped
communicating with us.
00:16:53.11\00:16:53.14
God has not abandoned us.

And so the Book
of Hebrews opens up

with this powerful declaration,

you know, we
believe the Book of Hebrews

was written by Paul,

but it's so different
from all of his other epistles,

where he introduces
himself as an apostle of God,
00:17:05.92\00:17:05.95
apostle of Christ
and grace and peace be
00:17:08.59\00:17:08.62
until he gets
right to the point.
00:17:11.26\00:17:11.29
Because we could understand
00:17:13.29\00:17:13.33
that Paul is perhaps
trying to reach Hebrews
00:17:15.13\00:17:15.16
in this epistle to the Hebrews
00:17:18.47\00:17:18.50
more than any
other group of people.

And he's trying to remind them,
00:17:22.44\00:17:22.47
that God has never
stopped communicating with them

because that is the key.

That is the power
that wins our hearts.

God is a communicator,

continued to communicate to us.

leads us to repentance

Now the Jews in

when you end the Old Testament

with the Book of Malachi.

And you move to
the New Testament,

you've got a huge gap there,

you've got a huge space
there where it seems like

God is not communicating.
00:18:51.56\00:18:51.59
But, you know, sometimes
00:18:53.09\00:18:53.13
silence
increases the anticipation.
00:18:54.73\00:18:54.73
God is about to
communicate, get this,
00:18:59.23\00:18:59.27
we've got all of the
pre-show taking place,
00:19:01.74\00:19:01.77
but now the grand
finale is taking place.
00:19:04.17\00:19:04.21
And this is time of silence,
this is time of anticipation,
00:19:06.57\00:19:06.61
God's been communicating
through the prophets,
00:19:10.11\00:19:10.15
but now He's going to
communicate in-person.
00:19:11.95\00:19:11.98
And if we're
thirsty, if we're hungry,
00:19:15.52\00:19:15.55
if we haven't heard from God,
00:19:17.89\00:19:17.92
you know, separation, they say,
makes the heart grow fonder.
00:19:19.39\00:19:19.42
You separate from
people for a while,
00:19:22.89\00:19:22.92
and you just need
that you want that
00:19:24.59\00:19:24.63
and so God comes in
the person of Jesus Christ,
00:19:26.23\00:19:26.26
He comes to remind us

has never and will never
stop communicating with us.

It's kind of
like the anticipation

of Jesus Christ creating hunger

in our hearts for
God's communication.

But now, through Jesus,
God is speaking to them.

And the quarterly

God is speaking
to them through Jesus

because He's always
been speaking to them

In the Old
Testament, it was Christ.

He was the rock
that followed them.

through the Holy Spirit.

But basically, when Jesus comes,

He negates all the false
ideas of God's abandonment.

God has never abandoned us.

He's never stopped
communicating to us.

So "God's revelation,"
the quarterly goes on to say,

"through Jesus, however,
was superior to the revelation

that God made
through the prophets

because Jesus

is a greater
means of revelation.

He is God Himself,

Yes, previous revelations

example, the Ten Commandments

spoken by the
