who's experiencing anxiety,

the things coming at us

There are those that are
sick, those that are tired.

God is a forward-looking God.

He knew how He
created His beings.

It's like saying,
why create a gas station

before you build the next car.

Because we knew that

that car is going to need
fuel to continue to go on.

Why create all these extra parts

before the car even breaks down?

Because the manufacturer knows
what the car's limitations are.

who gets exhausted.

So there has to
be a deeper reason

why God rested.

And then we read what
else He did in verse 3.

blessed the seventh day,

and sanctified it:

because that in it

He had rested from all His work

bring out five points,

Five things that we
could find can be a benefit

why God allowed rest
to be a part of our diet.

And let me just say this,

if you're not a person
that takes time to rest,

you're going to
wear out very quickly.

Rest is essential.

And rest is not
something that we can put off

for many, many, many,
many months down the road.

God has built into
creation a weekly rest

for each one of us.

Don't take that weekly
rest to work on something else.

Take that weekly rest,
to spend time with the Lord,

and find a refreshing

before anyone was even tired?

The first point I want to
make is God did not create man

for a perpetually busy life.

God did not create us
for a perpetually busy life.

Jesus speaking to His disciples.

many coming and going,

In one instance,
Jesus went to a secular city

to get away from
religious people.

Now think about that.

You got to think about that.

secular city to get away

But when they heard that
Jesus was going to be there,

The Lord is saying,

Because the things that
are going to come to you

are going to be more demanding

unless you take time to rest.

God created us to
have a time of rest

and refreshment.

Psalm 4:8, we read, "I
will both lie down in peace

and sleep, for You alone,

O Lord, make me
dwell in safety."

There's some people that
lie down that can't sleep.

afford to lose 10 pounds,

but I lost 10 pounds.

Because all I was
thinking about all the details

that I need to work
on what the Bible says,

take no thought for tomorrow.

And I had to learn that.

So now when I
go to bed at night,

I don't care what
tomorrow is going to be.

I'll be out in
five minutes. Yeah.

That's just how I've
determined in my mind,

I'm going to lay
down in peace and sleep.

The third point, Exodus 32:12,

God knew that
in difficult times,

people would misunderstand Him.

You know, when
you get exhausted,

it skews your
understanding about Christ.

Look at Exodus 32:12.

"Why should the Egyptians speak,

and to consume them

Turn from Your fierce wrath,

Okay, now, you might
wonder what that's all about.

They were begging for
rest from the bondage of Egypt.

That's right.

Now God freed them
from the bondage of Egypt

to give them rest,
and all of a sudden,

because of their
recalcitrant behavior,

they began to be subject
almost to the judgments of God.

But in this passage, if
God had had poured on them

His judgments, the
Egyptians would have said,

you know, we don't have
anything to worry about.

God took care of them for us.

And so this is
in essence saying,

turn from your fierce

wrath, and relent from
this harm to Your people.

They were not
telling God to stop.

But the intermediary
Moses appealed to the Lord

to give his
people a second chance.

And I think the Lord
that sometimes we have people

that are intermediary,

they mediate for us to our Lord,

so that what God
knows that we are worthy of,

what God knows that we deserve.

God doesn't change His
mind because we manipulate Him.

But God is a God of mercy,
who gives us a second chance.

Praise Him for that.

Two more points.

Deuteronomy 5:14,

God established a time

where all of creation can rest,
where all of creation can rest.

of the Ten Commandments.

This is to the
generation that grew up

in the wilderness journey.

came out of Egypt,

they didn't have a clue
about what the Sabbath was.

But here's what the Bible
says, as they are reminded.

is the Sabbath of
the Lord your God.

In it you shall do no
work: you, nor your son,

nor your daughter,
nor your male servant,
00:13:18.86\00:13:20.63
nor your female
servant, nor your ox,
00:13:20.66\00:13:22.56
nor your donkey,
nor any of your cattle,

nor your stranger
who is within your gates,

that your male servant
and your female servant

may rest as well as you."

Reason I don't go to
restaurants on Sabbath,

You need to take a

And finally, God

where all of creation
can find solace in Him.

received a message from God

all that was soon to
happen the city's destruction,

point in time Jeremiah

couldn't get to talk to him

the way he wanted to.

So all this stuff
was laid upon him.

And so he became discouraged.

He became despondent.

where he just didn't
know what he was going to do.

this guy was maybe

like many of us today,

he was in a
situation to where he,

he loved to work for others,
he loved to work for God.

But he had aspirations.

He had some
aspiration of doing more than

what he was doing
at that point in time.

And so he wanted
to see that happen.

And now that with

what was
happening in the country,

where he's at, he's saying that

there's no way that
I can expand the way,

way, I can continue on,

the uncertainty of
the world that we live in.

I look at that today
and some of the aspirations

that some people have,

that young people
have and older people have,

you're wondering,

will these things ever play out?

cause a little depression,

little anxiety, and sometimes

we lose our hold on Christ.

And I've said some time,
and I've heard people say,

I'll tell you, I'm just drained.

And sometimes I feel

have to give to someone else.

condition mentally, physically,

yesterday that said,

a sad question to come

are going through

some terrible things
them self, but you know,

they can speak words
of encouragement and share

when somebody else

needs that along
the way in time of need.

Jeremiah 45:3 just simply
says this that Jeremiah's,

we call his secretary,

He was running on empty.

He couldn't really
seem to go anymore.

And he said, what?
How do we know that?

Well, Jeremiah
45:3 said, Woe is me.

I don't know if anybody's
ever said that beside me.

Woe is me.

And, you know,
sometime if I get,

if I come to
that point, woe is me.

The Holy Spirit, I thank God

he was looking for

because of what was going out.

He was depressed, and sometime

been depressed and so on.

Many people go
through that by the millions.

God is our way out from that.

Again, as an individual,

this scribe had a
office of high position.

To me that's a lot of stress,

that can cause a
lot of anxiety some time

and you have one thing happening

upon the other

and you can't get done
one thing for something else

is coming upon you.

And so we find it,

Jeremiah faced bitter
disappointment himself.

So he was good
to help his scribe,

because he faced
these difficulties

and he had come through it.

I like to talk to somebody
sometime that's been in it.

Right, that's been in a
battle, that's done it and say,

you know, I've been there.

And here's what
God has done for me,

and what a blessing that is,

and that's exactly
what he was, you know.

We talk about bittersweet.

That's the word
that's kind of interesting.

It's a bittersweet.

We had to realize in this
life, there is, there is better,

and there is sweet.

You know, it rains on
the just and the unjust.

That's what the Bible says.

But, yeah, and
there's failure and some time

and there's prosperity also.

Jeremiah 5 there, 45:5,

we're looking at
encourages him to seek not,

here's what he said,

"Seek not the
things of this earth."

He knew his scribe, right?

He knew he was seeking things
of this world and going on.

He said, "Don't seek
the things of this world,
00:20:24.39\00:20:26.59
but seek out
God's will for you."

And so I encourage you,
each person has a special plan,

no doubt in my mind, to work,
to be able to work for God.

If you want to work for
Him, God has a plan for you.

It's already mapped out.

your ears, and your eyes,

Many a young man,

maybe you find in the
church that they're setting out

in this world, you
know, and they had aspirations

and they want to accomplish
an awful lot, you know.

And some of them are
aware that God can use them,

others are not aware
that God can use them.

I think we need to
be an encouragement.

And when this suffering came,
and the mental aspect of it

and the grief and
the sorrow and so on.

Here's how he looked at it.

I have one
problem after another.

That happens, I think,

something breaks down

Baruch was a good young man.

He was doing service for
God. There's no doubt about.

But let me just get quickly,

a little counsel for the young.

Since I'm older, I can say well,

we get a little
counsel for the young,

so at least keep yours open,

if it goes along
the Word of God take it,

if not, then you can
certainly throw it out.

Young beginners are
apt to become discouraged,

number one, with
small difficulties.

takes notice of our behavior.

frets, all the discomforts,

faith if you allow me do that.

He's there to help to correct us

and to lead us
and to guide us back.

us life I believe,

we can't really complain
about the disappointments

and even though
we have that tendency

as human beings, right?

What's it like, oh,

you don't like for us to change.

But again, I'm saying
don't by the grace of God,

whatever you do,
don't run on empty.

Don't even get close to that.

I don't know about you,

gas tank sometime

And sometimes spiritual
life is kind of that way,

need to look at too.

of gas and I guarantee you,
